marjorie

In this episode of 13: A Taylor Swift Fan Podcast, Ana, Lacey, and Nick return to the studio after their successful Swifties in the City event to break down one of Taylor Swift’s most emotional songs — Marjorie from Evermore.

They dive into the meaning behind Taylor’s tribute to her grandmother, opera singer Marjorie Finlay, and explore how this deeply personal track connects to themes of legacy, loss, and love. They unpack Taylor’s lyrics line by line, discuss the symbolism of the color yellow, and revisit Taylor’s emotional performance of Marjorie on The Eras Tour — complete with real vocals from her grandmother woven into the music.

You’ll also hear reflections on grief, memory, and the way Taylor’s songwriting captures timeless lessons like “never be so kind you forget to be clever.” Plus, the hosts tease what’s next for their song breakdown series and share fan-favorite theories linking Marjorie to The Life of a Showgirl.

Whether you’re a lifelong Swiftie or just discovering the hidden stories behind Taylor’s songs, this episode will leave you feeling connected, emotional, and full of love for the woman who inspired it all.
