[SPEAKER_02]: Hey everyone, this is Leon from Prologue Projects. [SPEAKER_02]: On today's subscriber only episode of 5-4, Peter, Reannon, and Michael are diving into some recent headlines that haven't been able to stop thinking about. [SPEAKER_02]: Among other things, they're talking about a legislative brainstorm from Texas Republicans that could severely curtail snacking rights.

[SPEAKER_02]: Plus, Chief Justice John Roberts bizarre foray into sub-stack, reporting from Adam Bonica, but the CD underbellied, small dollar donation packs, and the precarious position of many Trump appointed state attorneys general. [SPEAKER_02]: This is five to four. [SPEAKER_02]: The podcast about how much the Supreme Court and many other things sunk.

[SPEAKER_03]: Welcome to 5 to 4 where we dissect and analyze the Supreme Court cases that have banned our civil rights like Texas banning halal food. [SPEAKER_03]: I'm Peter. [SPEAKER_03]: I'm here with Michael. [SPEAKER_03]: I can't be constitutional. [SPEAKER_03]: And rean it. [SPEAKER_00]: Hey everybody.

[SPEAKER_00]: Well, Texas might try it out. [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, what a amendment to the violate. [SPEAKER_00]: point to the Constitution, Michael, where's the view of a right to eat, halop. [SPEAKER_03]: They're a right to snack in the Constitution? [UNKNOWN]: Michael. [SPEAKER_00]: Is there a right to show where mama in the Constitution?

[SPEAKER_01]: There should be, there absolutely should be. [SPEAKER_01]: I want my Schwarmum on like a low-vash wrap. [SPEAKER_01]: Please, thank you. [SPEAKER_00]: And I want it guaranteed by the Constitution. [SPEAKER_01]: That is, that is a core tenant of my liberty. [SPEAKER_03]: I was going to say that should be the first amendment, but it sort of is.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, no, it's sort of is the first amendment. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if you guys obviously I brought this up to you guys in the chat yesterday, but it's not like a band yet, but I guess the ledge is not in session. [SPEAKER_00]: The Texas ledge is only in session every two years. [SPEAKER_00]: So Texas Republicans had some sort of like conference or convening or something like a week ago and you'll brainstorming.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: And they said that it was a priority to eradicate Islam from Texas. [SPEAKER_00]: And as part of that, there was like this whole slate of legislation that could be proposed to like meet that goal among them banning the wearing of hijab in public places banning selling halal food, lots of other bullshit.

[SPEAKER_00]: You know, some of this like kind of serious, but like banning halal food come on. [SPEAKER_03]: I want to do it so bad because I, you know, I imagine most listeners know this, but whole all food is not something like special category of Muslim snacks or whatever, right? [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_03]: It's like kosher food like many foods are halal, right? [SPEAKER_03]: Many foods that non-Muslims eat are halal. [SPEAKER_00]: Or it's like a method of preparing food that makes it halal. [SPEAKER_03]: Right. [SPEAKER_03]: There's going to be a large percentage of foods that non-Muslims are eating without thought every single day that qualify as halal.

[SPEAKER_03]: So a band would, I don't know, I mean, it wouldn't happen because at some point, they would find out about a treat that they would no longer have access to. [SPEAKER_03]: Right. [SPEAKER_03]: And there, it's a treat-based political party at the end of the day. [SPEAKER_03]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but you could also see them being stupid enough to like word a statue in a way that like van's foods.

[SPEAKER_00]: They don't they're not intending to ban and yeah, of course. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh god, just a circus down here, guys. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm sick of it. [SPEAKER_03]: I'm picturing them like halfway through the legislative debate and like a man who just loves to eat. [SPEAKER_03]: It comes up to the podium.

[SPEAKER_01]: He's a Republican, but he's like, folks, have you ever had chicken over rice? [SPEAKER_03]: We can't let this happen. [SPEAKER_00]: You're telling me, wait a minute. [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't know this was taken away my Friday afternoon hero, you know? [SPEAKER_00]: Like, like, what if I told you that this turkey sandwich is [SPEAKER_00]: That's a pretty good George W. But thank you.

[SPEAKER_03]: I appreciate that you think it's good. [SPEAKER_03]: It's actually not all right. [SPEAKER_03]: So we've got a few things to discuss today. [SPEAKER_03]: We're doing another one of these sort of grab bag premium episodes because they were all these things that we wanted to talk about. [SPEAKER_03]: About a week ago, Michael hit us up in the group chat and was like, did you guys know John Roberts, wrote a sub-stack post?

[SPEAKER_03]: And we made him read it. [SPEAKER_03]: And we're going to talk about that. [SPEAKER_03]: Hey folks, if you want to hear the rest of this episode, you're going to have to subscribe.
