According to St. Luke in today's liturgical service. And it is chapters 16 and 17. From chapter 16, the reading is from verse 19 to 31, which is the end of the chapter. And then from chapter 17, verses 1 to 11 inclusive. So it is Luke 16, 19 to 31, the end of the chapter. And then Luke 17, verses 1 to 11. Today the Lord Jesus is telling us another parable. But this time unlike any other parables which he had said and mentioned. It has been documented in the gospel according to Saint Matthew and Saint Mark as well.
Today's gospel is absolutely literal for one simple fact. The Lord Jesus for the first time in his parable says. He is mentioning a person's name by the name of Lazarus. Since the Lord mentions names, the Lord is God. Therefore, as God, He does not make up stories, does not make up names.
So it looks like... There was.
A person called literally Lazarus who lived in Israel and died. And the Lord through this parable wants to reveal to us what happens when the spirit leaves the body. He revealed it in today's parable. So the Lord says there was a rich man that lived in a very Luxurious lifestyle. He was dressed up in purple and in linen. Now purple and linen is a royal outfit. So this man lived like a king. He was not a literal king, but he lived like a king. And the Lord is saying, there are some people in this world that think they are living like kings. In other words, he relied on himself.
He did what he wanted. He chose what he wanted to choose. He lived the way he wanted to live. Not God, not anyone else, but him. In other words, this rich man was nothing but a selfish, egocentric human being. And there was this poor man called Lazarus, laying at the front gate of this rich man's castle. Every day this rich man would walk past him, by and come back and pass him by, not even look at him for a moment and try to help him in any way, form a shape, because he literally did not care about anyone but himself. A selfish person living like a king.
They both died. The Lord Jesus says that the poor Lazarus was taken by angels to the bosom of our father Abraham. And the rich man died and was buried and found himself burning in Hades. So he looks up and he sees Lazarus in the bosom of Abraham buried.
He cries out to.
Our father Abraham, Father Abraham, I'm burning, I'm thirsty. Please send Lazarus, even if he dips his little finger in water and brings me a drop of water because I am extremely thirsty. Our Abraham, our father Abraham said to him, he said, remember, on earth you received all good things, but Lazarus received all evil things. Now it is time for Lazarus to be comforted and for you to be tormented.
He said, okay.
And he said, also there is a big gulf between us. There is a big void between us. Neither us can come across to you nor can you come over to us. Then the rich man says, okay, Father Abraham, can you send Lazarus Back to earth, I have five brothers on earth to go and tell them not to live the way I lived lest they end up where I am, burning in Hades. Our father Abraham replies and says to him, he says, they.
Have Moses and the prophets, meaning.
They have the Holy Bible. They have the Holy Bible. He says, but father Abraham, It's not the same when somebody comes back from the dead. It's much more effective because once they realize this was dead and came back, they will definitely listen to him. He said, our father Abraham says to him, if they don't believe in the scriptures, neither will they believe in somebody coming back from the dead.
And that actually was fulfilled in the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, even when the Lord rose. they still remain stubborn, non-believing. So if somebody thinks that a miracle will fix you, no. It may fix you temporarily. But the moment the miracle disappears, so as your faith will.
In that miracle.
Because you believe through a miracle, you will last as long as the miracle lasts. But what lasts forever is your faith in Christ Whether you see or not, you need to believe in the Lord Jesus. And let Him reveal things to you the way He chooses, not you, not me, not anyone.
Let Him do it.
This poor Lazarus recognized Abraham. This poor Lazarus ended up in Hades, meaning separated from God. And what is the true death of What is the literal death is when the spirit separates from its creator. When the spirit separates from God, that is the actual death. When the spirit departs from the body, that is a biological death.
It is transition.
That is not called death because everybody tastes this biological death. All of us one day, may God bless you and give you a very long life, but one day I must leave this world. I have to die physically. This is not death. It is only a transition from one realm to another. From a physical tangible realm to a spiritual eternal realm. Whether in paradise or in Hades. But the true death is when my spirit separates from God.
That is the true death. Now this rich man was definitely dead to the core. Because he was in Hades in total separation from God. Yet the Lord reveals the secret which we haven't seen as yet. To come back and say it. The Lord reveals it through this parable. That even though he was in total separation from the almighty God. Definitely dead, burning in Hades. But definitely was not dead in the sense some of us think.
Of what death is all about.
They think when a person dies, everything comes to a full halt, full end. No. Death is just separated from God. But you live in torment.
You never die. And to prove it, he recognized Abraham. Guess what?
This rich man never seen Abraham for a simple fact. Abraham would have been at least 1900 to 2000 years prior to this rich man's coming to this earth. Abraham is 2000 years before him. So he's never seen Abraham. How did you recognize Abraham, rich man? Oh, looks like in the next life we recognized Abraham. A lot of people that we've never seen in our entire life. Secondly, he recognized Lazarus. He remembered seeing him at his front door every day. He called out to Abraham, send Lazarus.
Now how did this rich man recognize Abraham, recognize Lazarus, And remembered he had five brothers on earth. Send Lazarus to my brothers, lest they come to where I am in torment.
How did you remember all these things, dear friend?
Aha.
Only tells us one thing.
Saint Paul, in his epistle to Thessalonians, 1 Thessalonians 5.23 says, He says the human being is made out of body, soul, and spirit. He states that very clearly so we are made out of body soul and spirit there is a difference between the spirit and the soul even though in the old testament the Hebrew language or the Aramaic language which I speak, sometimes our church fathers, when they refer to the soul, they mean the spirit, or when they refer to the spirit, they mean the soul. Yet they are so close, but totally different, my beloved, because St.
Paul says we are made out of three components, body, soul, and spirit. What makes the soul are five things. What makes up the soul are five things. One, The subconscious mind. Two, the conscious mind.
Three, the will. Four, the thought.
Five, feelings and emotions. That's what makes up the soul. Subconscious, conscious, will, thought, feelings and emotions.
What is the subconscious?
Literally the hard drive of your computer where you store every single information you came across in your life on earth. The subconscious is your storage hard drive. So since I was conceived in my mother's womb, till the day I was buried in my mother nature's womb, the grave, everything I gained throughout that journey, it is stored in the subconscious mind that is part of the soul.
For this rich man to.
Realize and remember that he's got five brothers, recognizes Lazarus, that means the soul was present with the spirit. What never dies is the spirit and the soul. What dies is this physical body.
That's what dies.
Came from the earth, goes back to the earth. As some call it, dust to dust. Ashes to ashes. But what never dies is the spirit and the soul. That's why he could remember. Because the soul is present. So from the parable of the Lord, there is no death. We remember people. And what was weird and ironic out of all, he is praying. The man in Hades dead is praying and begging our father Abraham to send Lazarus to help his brothers on earth.
He is interceding.
If the one in Hades dead intercedes for his brothers, how much more are those who are in paradise interceding? Saints, sons to the Almighty God, how much more are they alive.
And interceding for all of us, my beloved.
That's what our belief as apostolic church, whether you are Catholic or Orthodox, apostolic belief that is.
Embedded in biblical truth.
There is definitely the intercession of saints. According to this parable and many other places. No time for it right now, but I will tell you later.
So there is intercession of saints.
If sinners are interceding, how much more the saints who are truly living in the presence of the source of life, Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Abraham, when you go to the original language, when you go to the Aramaic language or Syriac language, you will realize what Abraham stands for. His name was Abram when he was in Mesopotamia, Iraq, Babylon.
The country I come from. Yo, baby. God, the Assyrians, baby. Just kidding. Not.
So when Abraham was in Babylon, Assyria, Mesopotamia between the two rivers Tigris and Euphrates. His name was Abram. And Abram in Aramaic is made out of four letters. Four Aramaic alphabetical letters. Alab, Ay, Beth, B, Resh, Ar, and Mim. M.
Abram. That was his name.
So when you go to the original text, the language, you'll understand. So his name was Abram made out of four letters. When God spoke to him in the land of Mesopotamia, Iraq, he said to him, leave your country, leave your family. leave your homeland and come, I'll show you the promised land that brings out honey and milk.
Which is Jerusalem.
And by the way, Jerusalem on earth is symbolic for the heavenly Jerusalem that lasts forever. But the one on earth is only temporal. So he says, come and I'll show you the promised land. When Abram Believed in the voice he heard. That it is to be the voice of God. And followed that voice. God himself added another letter to his name. Which is in Aramaic. Or equivalent as far as pronunciation is concerned. Is H or H in the Aussie way. H. Or American H. He added, God added another letter. He or H became Abraham. Aleph in Aramaic Syriac symbolizes God. Represents God. A, which is the first letter in the alphabetical order.
Aleph. Aleph. Abraham. Aleph is Allah, Baba. God, the Father. Beth, Beth. God, the Son. Resh, Ar, God, the Holy Spirit.
Rukh of Butchah. Mim, M, is Ma'moditha, baptism. He, Heich, Heimanotha, faith. So Abraham... is God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, faith, and then baptism. When you believe in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and you are baptized in the triune, holy, mighty name, you are the Son of the Almighty God.
You are in the bosom of Abraham.
When you have faith in your triune God, believe in Him, Be baptized in Him. Those who believe and are baptized will be saved. Not just believe, but baptized. The rich man is the one who lives for himself or herself. And a person that lives for themselves, all they'll have or all they will end up with is this world.
Because When you live selfishly for yourself, there is only one realm that is your portion, which is the tangible realm, this world.
When you live for this.
World, the world will end up giving you one thing and one thing only, the grave. Can you get anything else out of this world? People tried frantically. By going on diets and giving their faces an iron. Plastic surgery. They went to Istanbul and planted extra hair. But they still end up getting the wrinkles. They gave themselves those shots, puffing up their faces, flattening them, whatever doing. But they will get wrinkled and I will have to go to the grave whether I like it or not. This is the reality of this realm. The end of it is one big lie called the grave. Death takes everything I achieved.
And I may have achieved it with honor, with dignity, with hard work and sacrifices. I didn't say I stole, I killed to be rich. No, no, no. I built an empire with a sweat. But I did it for myself. God was totally absent in my life. What did I achieve at the end by chasing the world? The world laughed in my face at the start. But then poisoned me.
At the end. And laughed at me at the end and gave me the grave. Took away everything I achieved. Everything I did. I'll ask you this question.
What do you think is the richest place on earth? Some will think straight away the crude oil of Saudi Arabia, of Iraq, of Iran, and the Middle East and the Gulf region.
Go for it.
Straight away we think of, well, the richest place on earth. Is the place where has plenty of crude oil. Or the diamond mines in South Africa.
Or the gold.
Straight away we think of all these riches. But did you know. The richest place on earth is the graveyard.
You know why?
Because in the graveyard, there were so many paintings that were never painted and died with those artists. There were so many books that were never written and died with them. There were so many ideas that were never made into reality and died with them. There was so much to be preached. So much to be given. So much to be taught about the Almighty God whose name is Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
But I never was.
I never had the time for Him. And it all died with me. So many things got buried which should have been given to the people. The richest place on earth is the graveyard. Look what the world does when you chase after the world. At the end will take everything you have.
Everything.
And you leave empty handed and the end will be Hades in torment. But the one who struggled. The one who fought the good fight. The one who walked in the path in the way of Christ. The one who persevered like the Holy Mother. And we are in her blessed and holy month of August. My mother. Your mother.
All of us mother. The crown of glory.
The mother of My God, my Lord, my Savior, Jesus Christ of Nazareth. The Queen of Heaven. The Mother of the Church. The Mother of all saints. But so sweet, I can say, and my mom.
What a great mom. What an awesome mom. Just one. There will be never anyone else like her. Ever.
Neither in this world nor in the next. She'll be mama forever. The Holy Mother suffered immensely. The Holy Mother lived a life of poverty. The Holy Mother lived a life of absolute rejection and seclusion.
The Holy Mother had nowhere to stay.
The Holy Mother suffered immensely and the suffering of her only beloved son's.
Painful death on the cross. But she remained faithful till the end. And look at her now. On earth, a maiden.
A handmaiden of the Lord. And that's what she said to Archangel Gabriel. I am the handmaiden of the Lord. On earth she called herself a servant. In heaven she is the queen. On earth she was the weakest of all. In heaven the most powerful after Jesus Christ of all. On earth unknown. In heaven known by all. On earth she lived. a short life in heaven, she will live forever.
Her name forgotten in heaven never. That's why on earth it is never forgotten. He who seeks the Lord Jesus will never die. He who seeks the Lord Jesus will never be forgotten. He who seeks the Lord Jesus will never go out from this realm empty handed.
He who seeks the Lord Jesus.
In the end will be honored, dignified, comforted and glorified. Because he who has the son has eternal life my beloved. So my son, my daughter, those who are still in their teens. Those who are in their 20s. Those who are in their 30s. In their 40s.
Let me tell you this. If you've passed 50, you're still young. It doesn't matter the age. It's the heart, my beloved.
So even if you are 100, you are still 21 and kicking baby.
Don't you worry about the age. Look at the heart.
Because the Lord Jesus renews the heart like an eagle. You will run and will not be weary. You will live and you will never age. Because Christ renews you. And keeps you young.
Forever.
Let me tell you this. I was a teenager like you. I was in my 20s like you. I was in my 30s like you. I was in my 40s like you. I am now in the 50s. Getting close to the 60s. But let me tell you. My beloved son. And my beloved daughter. Don't ever.
Lose track of your Lord Jesus.
Don't ever let anyone Whether they are cousins, whether they are friends, whether they are distant family or close family to you. Don't ever let anyone tempt you. Don't ever let anyone take you to places Christ disapproves of. Don't ever try to please everyone under the sun and break your Lord's heart. Break everyone's heart, but don't ever break the Lord's heart. Walk away from everyone that tries to take you away from God. But don't you ever walk away from God. Because Christ is simply irreplaceable. There is only one Christ. Forever and ever. Because there is only one God. This God visited us over 2,000 years ago.
Became man like us. He was nailed on the cross. He was buried but rose from the dead.
Triumphant.
Stepped on death with His resurrection. And He lives and reigns and rules. The King to all kings. And the Lord to all lords. Forever and ever and ever and evermore.
Amen.
Jesus lives forever and if you have Jesus in your heart you will live forever as well so if you've been going to the club stop if you've been drinking stop if you've been taking drugs stop it if you've been gambling stop it if you've been swearing stop it If you've been lying, stop it. And if you've been going to dark alleys, stop it.
My son.
There is only one life. His name is Jesus Christ. I'm kissing the sandals. Now, Jesus wore some very cute sandals. They were not spongy, very, very, like, like, like, almost like a wood, very, very solid, rough, you know. You wear them for an hour, your feet are gone. Three, and you could say three and a half years, he walked all of Israel from head to bottom, from south to north.
He walked the entire country in three and a half years.
I just wonder what happened to those stunning, breathtaking feet.
I kissed them. I washed them.
And I drink that water because that water purifies me. I pray the Lord Jesus bless you all. I pray that he touches your heart so deep and so profound that you will not be able to stop him. I pray that he pierces you so deep and so far that you surrender fully to his divine will. I pray that the Lord heals you in every way. If you are physically sick, full healing right now. If you are spiritually sick, full healing right now. If you are emotionally sick, full healing right now. If you are mentally sick, full healing right now. Whatever you are going through, Whatever you are struggling with, whatever you are walking through, whether it be that dark tunnel or some rough seas in your life, may the Almighty Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
Rebuke that wild ocean, rebuke that.
Evil, that evil foul spirit and rebuke every darkness. May the Lord through his divine light decimate every evil darkness that has engulfed this world. May the Lord touch every heart for there is only one God and one God only who art in heaven, who created us all, made us all, who delivered us in the end of times.
His name is Jesus Christ of Nazareth. There is no other God but Him. He is the creator of all humanity. He is the creator of heaven and earth, everything visible and invisible. Jesus Christ created us all. We need to come back to Him. I'm saying it out of love and humility but in the truth because the truth can only be said as the truth. You cannot be a hypocrite when you speak the truth. You cannot falsify it.
You cannot twist it. You cannot sugarcoat it. It has to be said as it is. Christ is God revealed in the flesh. He created you When you walked away from him. He died on the cross. Purchased you with his own precious blood. To bring you back to him once again. He was buried but he rose.
Oh yes. His tomb is empty.
Holy fire comes out every Saturday before Sunday resurrection. Every year with that fail. For the last 2026 years.
That is the truth. The whole truth.
And nothing but the truth. For this I live. For this I die. No one changes my mind.
No Satan. No human being. No power. Neither in heaven. Nor on earth.
Nor beneath it can change it. Because when Jesus has me. No one can take me away from him. Believe in this my son.
My daughter. Trust in the Lord. Be strong. Don't let. A little tribulation, you know, shake you. It's alright.
Being shaken is okay. As they say, what does not kill you, make you stronger.
Love the Lord. Amen.
Let's bow our heads. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, one God.
Amen.
Our good God and full of mercy, our good God and full of mercy, whose grace and mercy is poured upon all. Pour, my Lord, the compassion of the delightfulness of your love upon your servants and again transform them in the hope of renewal to the life of repentance. Renew in them your Holy Spirit by whom they are sealed for the day of salvation. Purify them by your compassion from all flesh and spiritual blemishes. and assure the hope of their faith by the aid of your grace, and instill the walks of their behavior in the paths of righteousness. Please them along with the saints in your kingdom by the assurance of the hope of their faith and the adoption as your children and in the joy of your absolving mysteries. Empower them by the aid of
your mercies to observe your commandments and fulfill your will to confess, worship, and praise your holy name, the Lord of all, Father and Son, and Holy Spirit forever.
Amen.
May the Lord forgive us and make us worthy to come forth and receive Him in the true sacrament of His blood and body. It is the true body and the blood of Christ. Other than that, God bless you. I love you, but Jesus loves you the most. Be always with the Lord.
God bless.
Thank you.
