The Lord Jesus says, just because I said before Philip calling you, I saw you under the victory.
And you know what this victory is?
When King Herod, I take you back 30 years, when King Herod ordered that all the children of Bethlehem and the surrounding towns from the two years of age and below to be killed, three children were delivered from the sword of Herod the king.
One, John the Baptist. Two, the Lord Jesus. Three, Nathanael.
His parents hid him under the fig tree when the soldiers of King Herod came searching for the son.
They hid him under the fig tree.
So when the Lord Jesus revealed this secret, which only his parents then, parents revealed it to Nathaniel and God who art in heaven knew about this secret. He said, I am for the first time meeting you, Jesus. By the looks of it, we are similar in age.
How did you.
Know I was hidden under the fig tree when I was a baby? Because when I was a baby, it looks like you were a baby as well. Oh, you must be God. You must be God. You are the Christ, the son of the living God. You are the king of Israel. Now Simon spoke as the intellect. Nathanael, king of Israel. What is the king to do with the heart?
He wants to conquer your heart. So now Simon represents the intellect. Simon Peter represents the intellect. Nathaniel represents the heart. Between the intellect and the heart, Thomas stuck his head in.
Suspicion.
Why do we stumble? Why do we veer off the road? We want to follow the Lord Jesus, but we struggle. I want to be with you, Lord, but we struggle. I don't want to leave you Lord.
Yet we do. We struggle. Why? Because doubt comes in.
The shortest distance is between the intellect and the heart. Yet it is the hardest distance to be bridged together. The shortest distance is between the intellect and the heart. Yet it is the hardest to bridge together.
Why?
I'll tell you why. The intellect is influenced by logic. The heart is influenced by feelings and emotions. That's why husband and wife argue a lot.
I'm just kidding. The intellect is influenced by logic.
The heart is influenced by feelings and emotions. The intellect will come and say one plus one equals two. The heart will come and say one plus one equals four. And then the man, the husband, who is influenced by logic, he says, women, my darling, one plus one equals two. She says, no, it's equals four. And then he takes her seriously. And then he keeps on arguing to make sure that she gets it at the end, that one plus one equals two. And she insists on being four rather than two. And then you'll ask the women, why are you insisting it's four even though it's two?
She will say to you, this is the way I feel about it. Tough luck. Women are influenced by feelings and emotions. Men By logic. Logic is straightforward. Feelings.
They go everywhere. Before they get to the point. That's why when you ask the man, how was your day? He will answer with one word.
Good. You ask the woman, how was your day? Good luck hearing the end of it.
She'll tell you what kind of a dream she had prior to getting up. And what time exactly she washed her face, brushed her teeth, changed her clothes and went to work. And the whole story from 8.30 in the morning till 5 p.m.
What happened at work? And then on the way back, I had a flat tire. I called NRA. Honey, I was just asking, how was your day? Feelings and emotions.
I just wanted to make you laugh, but this is not what the gospel is about, the man and the woman, no.
It's about the intellect and the heart.
And every single one of us, whether we are male or female, we all have intellect and heart. And when it comes to the Lord Jesus, we don't know how to balance between the two.
Because the intellect and the heart are two parallel lines that can never meet. Logic And feelings, emotions can never meet.
But the Lord says, you need to follow me. So I use my head to follow the Lord.
I fail.
I use my heart to follow the Lord. I fail also. You know when you're successful? When you use both the intellect and the.
Heart together equally. Then you will follow the Lord.
You see, one has got to do with believing and one has got to do with loving. Two different things. Yes, I believe in you, but maybe I won't love you. Satan believes in Jesus Christ, but never loves the Lord. There are people who.
Believed that at the time of the Lord, at the time of the Lord, people.
Believed that this is the Messiah, but they chose not to follow him. You see, faith gets you to the Lord. But what keeps you with the Lord is love.
You know why?
Because some people, when they hear about Jesus, they get excited. They hear some nice words and then it really hits them deep down. They never experienced it before. It's something new to them.
So they get excited. Wow, amazing.
Oh, I'm flying on cloud nine. And then they say, no, I'm going to be with the Lord. I'm going to go to church every Sunday. I'm going to read the Holy Bible. I'm going to shout to the Lord. And I'm going to follow Him for the rest of my life. And they start following the Lord. And as they are following, shortly thereafter, they encounter tribulations, obstacles, challenges.
Attacks, deposition. They get kicked out, punched, ridiculed, swore at.
And they say, oh, hang on. I didn't know it was this way. I thought if I follow the Lord, I'm going to live like a king and a queen. But I'm following the Lord and I'm copying it left, right and center. You see, my beloved, when will you remain with the person even though you are going through hell for the sake of that person? The only time you will remain with that person even though you're copying it for his own sake is when you truly.
Love the person. When you truly love him. Not just believe. Believe. Lord, I believe in you, but my love is weak. Simon believed in the Lord, but he swore before a woman, I do not know him. Because his love wasn't still deep. Wasn't. So my beloved, the Lord.
Is saying, I want you to follow me using your intellect and the heart at the same time.
And I'll tell you why.
The Lord Jesus is two things. He mentioned these two things about himself. One, he is the lion and he is the lamb. The lion and the lamb can't live together. Two parallel lines. The Lord Jesus said, you must be, you need to be wise as a serpent, innocent as a dove.
Two different things.
And the Lord Jesus said, you need to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world. Salt from the earth below, light from heaven above. Two parallel lines. But you need to be the two together at the same time.
Why?
Because my beloved, if the Lord says you must be wise as a serpent, wisdom is to do with intellect. Innocent as a dove is to do with the heart. Wise as a serpent to do with the intellect. Innocent as the dove to do with the heart. Let me tell you a secret about both.
Serpent. What is the wisdom of the serpent? One thing. One thing. When the serpent comes.
And encounters an enemy, the serpent judges the situation. Am I stronger than this enemy or the enemy stronger than me? When the serpent comes to this decision that the enemy is stronger than me, what does the serpent do?
Never attacks.
It curls up and covers the head with the body. The enemy comes and shatters that body, devours that body. For as long as the head is intact, the body will regrow again. The serpent is never dead. What is that telling me and you? The Lord Jesus says, I gave you my word. My word is wisdom. I gave you my word and my word, I asked you to keep it in your head. Think of it all the time.
Digest it all the time. Contemplate on it all the time. Sing it all the time. Read it all the time. Live it all the time.
So I gave you my word and I asked you to keep it. Don't ever let anyone to come and snatch that word from you.
Don't let anyone brainwash you. And take my word away from your head. Be wise as a serpent. Protect the head which the word is being embedded in.
Like the serpent.
Let them destroy the body. Let them ridicule you, tell you off, tell you whatever, but don't ever give in with your head to what they're trying to.
Get out of you. Be wise.
The dove out of the entire birds of the sky. There are beautiful characteristics about the dove, but the most important one. When the dove makes, builds a nest and have those little eggs and then bambinos. The mother goes searching for food for her baby. Two enemies come to devour those babies. One from the sky called the eagle and another one from the ground called the snake. So the enemies come, they eat some of those babies and they kill some of those babies and leave them in that nest. The mother comes back with food, realizes some of her babies are missing, gone, dead. And some of them are dead in the nest before her eyes. The dove mourns for her baby and shed tears, tears of a human being. She mourns like a human being mourns
for the departure of their beloved ones.
Like a human, she mourns.
But the dove, even though this was like a knife in the heart, she got shattered, crying endlessly for her baby's Yet she never changes the nest's position. She never takes the nest elsewhere. Every other bird, the moment they just hear the enemies coming, straight away they shift the nest elsewhere. Yet the dove, even the babies were taken away from her. She remains in that place and bring more babies. Never shifts the place. The Lord says, When I asked you to follow me, I gave you my path.
I gave you my position. I gave you my place. No matter what happens to you, if they ridicule you, if they persecute you, if they attack you, if they spit in your face, if they throw you out in the street, don't ever shift my path and walk away from it. Remain faithful in my path. And the only time I will remain faithful In his path. Yet I'm being kicked, punched. Left, right and center. Is when I am truly loving the Lord. Faith brings you to the Lord.
Love keeps you with the Lord.
And you need both. You need both. Without faith you can't be drawn to the Lord. And without love you can't remain with the Lord. So you can't say, Lord, I love you. Or, Lord, I believe in you. You better believe and love. Because with faith, you'll come to Him. With love, you will remain with Him no matter what happens to you. Even if you lose an eye.
See, when the Lord Jesus spoke about the intellect, He spoke about wisdom. And this is the problem of our time and age. And the church, why the church is in turmoil, because so sadly said, there are certain church leaders, they have plenty of knowledge, very little wisdom. At times, no wisdom at all. What protects love is wisdom, not knowledge.
You can be very knowledgeable in your field as a scientist, as a professor, as an engineer.
You can be very knowledgeable. I'm not doubting that.
But you can be a miserable failure at home as a father and a husband.
Or vice versa. Love needs wisdom to be embellished, to be protected, and to grow and flourish.
See, the Lord Jesus says you need to use your intellect and the heart together at the same time. Why?
Because wisdom alone is called evil.
And that's why this fallen angel is referred to as evil.
You see, people are not evil. What are people?
The Holy Bible say they are sinners. But what does the Holy Bible say about this fallen angel?
Evil. Why evil?
Because this angel was extremely wise when God created him. So he fell, but he kept the wisdom. However, when he fell, he lost the innocence. So wisdom alone is evil. Innocence alone is ignorance.
Don't let anyone take you for a ride. Don't be ignorant.
But don't be just... Wise only, that is evil. Be wise and innocent at the same time. And that's what the Lord Jesus revealed to us, what the cross is.
What is the cross?
Wise as a serpent, innocent as a dove. What is the cross? Wisdom and love. Wisdom alone is evil. Love alone is dumb. You want me to tell you why love alone is dumb? Let's talk our language for a minute. This girl falls in love. And then she says, either I'm going to marry this guy or I'll kill myself.
And then the whole entire tribe is against this marriage, but she insists on marrying this girl, Jonah. And then she marries Jonah eventually because she was.
Stubborn about it. And after honeymoon, After one.
Year, after two years, she said, I was dumb when I chose to marry this guy. Because love alone is not enough. When two say we got married because we loved each other and that was more than enough, not true. Love is not enough. However, love is foundational. You cannot build a house without a foundation, but you cannot say to the foundation, A house. Foundation is not the house.
But without the foundation, forget about talking about the house. So the love is the foundation of the house, but it requires wisdom to build the house. So, when you fall in love, I call it the Rosella stage.
It's all lovey-dovey.
The talks is there is no tomorrow. Hello honey, Habib Albi, I love you, I miss you. They were out together for 10 hours. They go back home. Not even 10 seconds. They message each other or they call each other, I miss you.
I miss you. At the beginning, the heart talks. The heart is all, Dum-dum. It's all feelings and emotions. I love you. I miss you. Roses, flowers, you know, teddy bear with the big heart and that cylinder with the red rose in it. It's lovey-dovey.
After honeymoon, the heart goes to sleep, the intellect wakes up, and then you start smashing on your head.
Say, what have I done? You need to use both. Yes, you choose the person you want to marry with your heart first. But then, after you choose him with the heart, you need to use your head. Otherwise, you will be headless. Always say this.
Yes, you sort of, your heart started beating when you saw the guy or you saw the girl.
Your heart started pumping. That's fine. Go up and talk to her. Hello, how are you? What's your name? My name is John. What are you doing? Once you talk to her and you go out, you're interested in each other, then use your head.
The first thing you ask her or him, do you love the Lord Jesus? If he says no, kick him hard and leave. It's funny but not. Because it is a life. Life is dependent on this.
One question. Do you love the Lord? You want to build a successful family?
You better make Jesus Christ of Nazareth the foundation of that family. Otherwise the house will collapse and the collapse will be great.
Don't say he's beautiful.
Not beautiful. The Lord is beautiful. Is the Lord in his heart or not? Is the Lord in her heart or not, my son? So what she is selling.
Mariah Carey, I don't know, maybe they're old now, I don't know. The beauty will fade away.
You need Jesus whose beauty never fades away, whose love never fails, whose faith is everlasting. So, The Lord is saying to all of us, you want to follow me? You better use your head and the heart at the same time. Because the intellect.
Alone is evil.
The heart alone is ignorant. I want you to be the power of God.
That's the cross. Because the cross to the Jews... Is a stumbling stone. Why?
Because they believe Messiah never dies. But they didn't understand. He had to taste death. But he will rise. Because he tasted death. Because he carried our sins.
But he rose. Because he himself never sinned. So the Messiah never dies true. What's the problem? But it became a stumbling stone. Not enough love.
And to the Greeks, it is ignorance to them. How do you worship a crucified person called God? The intellect spoken evil. But to us, the saved ones, St. Paul is saying, but to us, the saved ones, the cross is the power of God. For in the cross there is wisdom and innocence. There is intellect and heart at the same time. The Lord Jesus who is all love, when he saw people buying and selling in his father's house, he kicked them all out.
He used his head, not his heart.
You need wisdom at certain places and you need love at other times.
Don't use your head always. Always.
Don't use your heart always. Use them both in a balanced way. Love when it's necessary and reprimand and discipline when it is also necessary.
But what breaks the connection between the intellect and the heart? Thomas, doubt, suspicion. I prayed.
I heard nothing from the Lord. I don't know if I should continue. And who says the Lord heard my prayer? And who says the Lord is... The first thing it does, it kills faith. And without faith, there is no wisdom. Because what connects you to wisdom is faith.
So the moment doubt enters, it kills faith. It destroys wisdom.
And when it destroys wisdom, since the only way to be connected with Christ is through faith, wisdom, Then once the connection is shattered, how can you love him anymore? That's why love goes out of the window. The moment you lose faith through doubt, you stop loving the Lord. I hope you don't try it. But if you ever fall in a doubt, when faith diminishes, your love also gone.
You don't want to go to the church anymore. You don't want to pray anymore. You don't want to hear the name of Jesus anymore.
Why?
Because what keeps you with him is love. But what connects you to him is faith. The Lord says, both I want you to have always. So what do you do, my child? Let me come in between the intellect and the heart. And instead of Thomas, let Christ be there. So you're in a situation you don't know what's happening. Say, Lord, I can't figure anything out. But one thing I know.
You never left me. You never will. I don't know what's happening in my life. But you know, Lord, I entrust you with it. You are the captain of this ship. Sail me as you wish. And if the high tide comes, I trust in the captain.
Amen? Love the Lord.
Trust in Him. Even when you don't understand anything. And see what the Lord will do. And whatever happens, say, Lord, let it be Your will.
But don't give up. Don't give up. Even when you.
Are at your weakest and lowest moment, of your life just cling to the hem of his garment and beg him not to let go of you not you letting go of him we let go of him very easily but beg him to hold on to you.
Be strong.
We are weak the Lord knows but the Lord says My grace is sufficient for you. So my daughter, if you did not end up marrying John, please, it's not the end of the world. Don't cry for me, Argentina. I'll bring you the best guy from Iraq. Or actually from Lebanon. Or maybe from Italy. Daniele, the best, Italiano.
Bellissimo. More bellissimo than the pizza. It's not the end of the world.
When things don't work out the way you wanted them to be, it is not the end of the world.
For as long as Christ lives, everything is okay.
Man, I was dying to be a priest in 2003. I was dying to be a priest. I put every, I hanged everything on that hope. I left work, I left world, I left everything. Can't wait to be a priest. Two days to my ordination, I got kicked out of the church by the highest rank. For a week, I was a statue in an absolute shock. I've never experienced a shock in my life as that shock. Because all of my dreams and all of my hopes and all of my ambitions came trembling down, all gone with the wind in a blink of an eye.
I said, I'm dead. I'm finished.
Six years later, I got ordained a priest by the same people who kicked me out. Two years later, I got ordained a bishop. And two years after that, I got kicked out by the same people. But between this kick and not that kick, there was a time frame of about 9-10 years. But in 9-10 years, the Lord has been molding me, shaping me, and forming me, and making me.
He changed me.
I was no longer that man that I thought I was wise enough and mature enough. But I realized I was a weakling, absolutely nothing. So when the time came to be kicked as a bishop, 10 years of barbecuing me.
The Lord was cooking me.
Yeah. When I got kicked out the first time, I was finished. When I got kicked out the second time, I said, hallelujah.
Thank you, Lord Jesus. I love you, brother. But don't do it again. It was cool. It was cool. You know why? Why?
Because the Lord wants to teach us all. We are all the same in His sight. He loves us the same way. Don't ever think the Lord loves the Pope more than you.
No, no, no, no, no.
He loves us equally. He wants to teach us all one thing. My son, you ugly Bishop Murray. My son, you beautiful Bishop Murray. That was the first one was me. The second was the Lord Jesus. My son, whatever I give you, don't ever focus on what I give you. I want your focus to be always on me. No matter what I give you. This takes shish kebab, barbecue.
To be focused not on the gift, but to be focused on the Lord himself. And I'll leave you with this. The disciples of the Lord Jesus, the 12 apostles, incredible. You know, they walked with the Lord Jesus.
He chose them.
He went and chose them. And then they walked with him every day. They're seeing miracles and wonders. They saw the Lord Jesus raising the dead, healing the sick, casting out demons of.
People, crippled, you name it.
All kind of miracles and wonders the Lord Jesus did and performed before their very eyes. After seeing all these miracles, they go to the Lord Jesus and they say, Lord, can you teach us on how to pray?
What? Hang on a second.
The Lord said, when you pray, you go into your room You go into the room and close your door and pray in secret and let your heavenly father who sees in secret to reward you in the open. Simon, Peter, Philip, Andrew, Bartholomew, Nathaniel, why are you asking the Lord to teach you how to pray? Don't you want to be famous? Everybody wants to be famous. Everybody wants to be the center of attention. Well, what's going to make Simon Peter famous when he raises the dead? When he heals the sick, when he casts demons out, that's what's going to make him famous before the whole world, isn't it? So why don't you ask the Lord to teach you on how to raise the dead, on how to heal the sick, and how to cast
demons out. Why don't you ask him to teach you this? Because this is what's going to get you fame. Praying, you'll go into the room, close the door, nobody will see you, only God in heaven. You don't even see God. What are you going to gain out of it?
Nothing. But why are you asking for the prayer?
They said, We've been observing the Lord Jesus for quite some time.
All day he was working, healing, doing wonders and miracles.
At night time, all night he spent it in praying to his Heavenly Father. All of us went home and slept, but Jesus remained awake in the Mount of Olives praying to his Heavenly Father. We realized the secret behind raising the dead was his prayer. The reason why demons... ran away from him in a split second because he prayed.
So the power is in the secret, not in the apparent. You want to glorify the Lord?
Hide. Don't ever show yourself. Let Christ show you to the world. Use wisdom and use love to know how to live for Christ.
Amen.
Let's bow our hands.
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, one God, Amen. Our good God and full of mercy, our good God and full of mercy, whose grace and mercy is poured upon all. Pour, my Lord, the compassion of the delightfulness of your love upon your servants and again transform them in the hope of renewal to the life of repentance. Renew in them your Holy Spirit by whom they are sealed for the day of salvation. Purify them by your compassion from all flesh and spiritual blemishes and assure the hope of their faith by the aid of your grace and instill the walks of their behavior and the paths of righteousness. Please them along with the saints in your kingdom by the assurance of the hope of their faith and the adoption
as your children and in the joy of your absolving mysteries. Empower them by the aid of your mercies to observe your commandments and fulfill your will to confess, worship, and praise your holy name. The Lord of all, Father and Son.
Amen. and Holy Spirit forever. Amen.
May the Lord Jesus forgive us and make us worthy to come forth and receive Him in the true body and the true blood of Christ.
Just a couple of announcements.
Today we, during the Holy Mass service of this evening, we also remembered our beloved saints, Saint Addei St. George the Martyr and St. Charbel as well.
St.
Charbel's birthday was on Friday and we remembered him today, my beloved. So may the prayers of St.
Addei, one of the disciples chosen by Christ himself.
In the first century, while the Lord was on earth, he chose Addei as to be one of his disciples. Some say that Addei was from the 70 and some also claim that he was Tedios and called Adde out of the 12 but regardless whether 12 or 17 Saint Adde was chosen by Jesus Christ himself our Lord and God Saint George the martyr the whole world know of him and Saint Charbel our sweetheart whom the Lord came to know in recent times may their prayers be with us all and their intercession ever so fervent and ever so powerful interceding on our behalf before the throne of the Almighty God, who is the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ of Nazareth. All glory to His holy and mighty name.
Amen.
Our beloved Teens for Christ committee is putting together a bowling night for all the teenagers between the ages of 13 and 19. Didn't even make it to those.
Pins whatever they're called So please, enroll for the beautiful bowling night. Just a quick mention, our charity, the Good Samaritan Aid Society, which is a non-for-profit charitable organization registered here in Australia, it's been almost 10 years since it's been registered, and it does all these charitable deeds, helping people in need, struggling.
In Australia and abroad.
I just want to say one thing very quickly.
In the last two and a half.
Years, we started with 12 children in Syria who were really, the parents were living below poverty level where they were not able to look after their own children. So we started reaching out to them and helping them financially to keep the children with the parents lest the government takes them away. So we started with 12 children in Syria around two, between two and three years ago. And today, my beloved, we look after 2,721 families In 12 countries.
In a very short time. All glory to the one and only Jesus Christ of Nazareth. But sometimes it is good to mention these things. As an encouragement. To glorify the name of Christ. In you my beloved. So this is about the Lord Jesus. For us to open our eyes, ears and hearts and minds and souls. And truly see.
That Christ is in the midst of all of us. Otherwise it is impossible. To do something like that.
Without him. So.
Such a small church. But the Lord, when he blesses, he turns the nothing into everything.
That's the way the Lord works.
So today we are looking after 2,721 families on a monthly basis.
On a monthly basis.
We have food hamper program called Food Angel. Once a fortnight, we give away these food hampers. They're probably, minimum they're worth $ 200 to $ 300. It's only $ 30. $ 30. And those $ 30 are a donation to the charity so we can put it forth to people in need. You can obtain this hamper once a fortnight. It's worth $ 200, $ 300. You get it for $ 30. Our times are tough. Our times are tough. Why don't you get this hamper? It will help you immensely, my beloved. And that $ 30, it will go to helping someone, whether in Australia or abroad, my beloved.
We give around 160 hampers every month in Australia and 2,000 hampers overseas. In the last 12 months, I thank the Lord Jesus from the bottom of my heart to all the donors who contribute financially to the Good Samaritan Aid Society charity. We have donors on a monthly basis, on a yearly basis, or every now and then a donation here and there. But we have also regular donors on a monthly basis. They are members and they donate every month.
God bless them all and protect them and guide them. And I pray more and more come. Because of these donations, Generous donors. May the Lord bless them. And these donors, they come from about 32 different countries worldwide.
From Australia, America, Canada, Europe, Indonesia, Middle East, everywhere. They're from everywhere.
So, because of their generosity, donation and contribution, the last 12 months we sent almost $ 800, 000 to helping people overseas and here in Australia from a very small church.
But the Lord is incredible. Incredible.
I pray that we can do more and more and more. if you'd like to contribute, even if it's a dollar, please speak to one of the youth group committee members and they will take your details. And even those who are watching as well, if you'd like to donate, it is the Good Samaritan Aid Society. www.gzaz.org.au That is the website.
You can donate there.
And the donations are going to helping people and really, really, really helping them in a big time.
Some of these monies.
Also are allocated to emergencies, chemotherapies, urgent operations, life-saving operations.
They go there.
I don't want to bombard you, but we get phone calls really heartbreaking.
