Episode 50: Privacy Made Easy with Hakeem Anwar

In this episode of Call to Farms, Tim and Sophie sit down with Hakeem Anwar—a technologist, activist, educator, and entrepreneur—who is on a mission to revolutionize how we use technology. After leaving a corporate career as a software engineer to support activist movements, Hakeem discovered the internet’s true power lies in uniting people under a shared cause. However, after experiencing mass censorship and cyberattacks, he realized the need for technology that protects free thinkers.

Hakeem founded #TakeBackOurTech to teach others how to adopt empowering, decentralized tools. In 2021, he launched Above—a company developing private phones, tablets, and laptops built on decentralized, open-source technology to help people reclaim control of their data. With thousands of customers today, Above is pioneering solutions for private communication, data self-custody, and healthier technology use.

Join us as we discuss:
- The importance of privacy in today’s digital world
- How Above’s technology differs from Big Tech solutions like Apple
- Whether using social apps creates a backdoor to your data
- How easy it is to transition to Above’s suite of products
- Why privacy and freedom are essential for homesteaders and free thinkers alike

If you’re concerned about data privacy, tired of Big Tech control, or curious about transitioning to a more secure digital life, this episode is for you.
