[SPEAKER_00]: Stop. [SPEAKER_00]: She got me to get it back. [SPEAKER_00]: Time had to match. [SPEAKER_00]: She's deep like a play. [SPEAKER_00]: She got me to be the good one. [SPEAKER_00]: She's quite a good friend. [SPEAKER_00]: I think it was. [SPEAKER_00]: You just gotta lay out. [SPEAKER_00]: Now I use the colonel's signature change.
[SPEAKER_00]: You need to see it. [SPEAKER_00]: I guess there's a neighborhood game. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we used to love her. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, she just got it. [SPEAKER_00]: It's gotta be at sexual pain. [SPEAKER_00]: It's the same old, It's the same old situation It's the same old, It's the same old bulletin [SPEAKER_02]: Saturday, Hustard fans, it is the same old situation, Motley Crew, 1989, 464, 5, 16, 5, 1, his bad tennis is going to get tecturate in the starter, him and Judo's song today.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's gonna be yours If you say, oh Say, oh If you say, oh If you say, oh If you say, oh Say, oh If you say, oh All in change [SPEAKER_02]: That is for you, Husker fans, doesn't change his same old situation, Motley Crude, 1989. [SPEAKER_03]: 464, 5, 6, 8, 5, 1. [SPEAKER_02]: His band tend to be a good texturating on the starter of Hayman Jewelers song of the day.
[SPEAKER_03]: I couldn't imagine seeing that live, Steve. [SPEAKER_03]: My energy. [SPEAKER_03]: 1989. [SPEAKER_03]: I was a little checked out in 1989, but not for that. [SPEAKER_04]: Checked out. [SPEAKER_03]: a little bit. [SPEAKER_03]: You know, really, uh, checked out in college, right? [SPEAKER_03]: 89, uh, let's see where I would have been.
[SPEAKER_03]: I would have been, uh, this came out early in the year. [SPEAKER_03]: I would have been, uh, either in my first year of grad school at University of Tennessee. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, God, or Tennessee. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I went to Tennessee, and then I whipped over to Carny State at the semester to start coaching to be a graduate assistant and go to Grides because so I've been right.
[SPEAKER_03]: So this would have been big in Carny at that time. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, that has been about the back. [SPEAKER_02]: Hell, yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Hell, yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: I've been at the back lot. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, Carny. [SPEAKER_03]: Any lopers out there, want to respond?
[SPEAKER_03]: Jake, that's awesome. [SPEAKER_03]: I'll give it a 10. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I'll give it a 10. [SPEAKER_03]: It's that good. [SPEAKER_03]: I love the song wouldn't matter. [SPEAKER_03]: And then you also threw in a theme. [SPEAKER_03]: So when you have a song that great with a theme, that's a 10 all day and a relative scene at the crew is finally true.
[SPEAKER_04]: Gene ways and Gene are friends. [SPEAKER_04]: We are pieces in the brasscus 50 same old situation. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay. [SPEAKER_04]: Yep. [SPEAKER_04]: He said Nebraska's 43 and 59 since 2018 and 40 of the losses are by one score. [SPEAKER_04]: Say it again. [SPEAKER_02]: Say it again. [SPEAKER_04]: Jane, Jane, I hope you're right about this because I'm reading it out here.
[SPEAKER_03]: We're, don't let Facts get in the way of a game. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's a good story. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, this is just radio. [SPEAKER_04]: Nebraska is 43 and 59 since 2018 and 40 of the 59 losses are by one school. [SPEAKER_04]: God, that seems literally, like he says, that seems literally impulsive, that's agonized.
[SPEAKER_03]: This would be the place where Vegas would do a study. [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, right. [SPEAKER_03]: So we had to do a study study. [SPEAKER_03]: We had to get a study on this. [SPEAKER_03]: But he did. [SPEAKER_03]: Big study. [SPEAKER_04]: So 40 of the 59 losses since 2018 by one score, whoa.
[SPEAKER_04]: So that's yeah, just excruciating pay. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, so score Steve could think I go eight eight five eight five hundred's going to love it nine one Nine five seven you turn all pain and suffering. [SPEAKER_03]: We have a video from last year, and Laurie showed it to me, and Blitzkrieg is in the video. [SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_03]: Blitzkrieg helped move these sticky notes from McSafety over to Greg, or Gregor position at the Tree of Trust. [SPEAKER_03]: It was fully, he was the segment. [SPEAKER_04]: There was a conduit in it. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes. [SPEAKER_02]: Song of the day was same. [SPEAKER_02]: The whole situation by Motley crew in 1989 is time for bills thrills on a Monday here.
[SPEAKER_02]: We go [SPEAKER_01]: Some call him the most interesting man in the world. [SPEAKER_03]: That is setting up the morale mushroom. [SPEAKER_03]: Yes. [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: We need an answer. [SPEAKER_03]: Mushrooms grow better with thunder and lightning. [SPEAKER_01]: Others call him coach, but to everyone else, he's Bill.
[SPEAKER_03]: I want to get one of those military abstimulators for us to wear during the show. [SPEAKER_03]: You see, I sent you the day. [SPEAKER_01]: It's time for Bill's Thrills on early break. [SPEAKER_03]: So you can you can reach out to Rand. [SPEAKER_03]: How's he cope? [SPEAKER_03]: You have his number and just reach out to Randy. [SPEAKER_03]: He's coping fine. [SPEAKER_03]: He was okay. [SPEAKER_03]: Randy smiling about everything. [SPEAKER_03]: He takes on life like you're supposed to.
[SPEAKER_03]: As you should. [SPEAKER_03]: He does. [SPEAKER_03]: And but Randy will he's Randy is available. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: How's Randy? [SPEAKER_03]: Biggie, how's your fan? [SPEAKER_03]: Randy's available for you guys to reach out to him on FaceTime if you have a question. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_03]: It's kind of like a dial-in nurse type of thing. [SPEAKER_03]: I'm a little nervous. [SPEAKER_03]: Randy's all the sudden. [SPEAKER_03]: If you get yourself in a pickle, you're on the deck and all of a sudden you need to, what should I do here? [SPEAKER_03]: I bet Randy's gonna help you out.
[SPEAKER_03]: So reach out to him at that number and FaceTime. [SPEAKER_03]: FaceTime Randy right now just see what he's doing. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, you kind of fun to check it with him. [SPEAKER_02]: Right, we got today, Jake. [SPEAKER_02]: What? [SPEAKER_02]: Usually a football-fax Monday bill. [SPEAKER_02]: Football.
[SPEAKER_02]: What's the role? [SPEAKER_02]: Can I do football, Steve? [SPEAKER_03]: tiktok who owns the clock okay tiktok who owns the clock six is miracle versus wow wow he had a he had need to help I can't even explain what was happening oh I just broke my glasses oh god I can't I can't I'm okay don't worry about I'm moving on Steve Lockin Lockin [SPEAKER_03]: is that I can't imagine what happened to him with this clock time and it went up.
[SPEAKER_03]: So there's two things. [SPEAKER_03]: One clocks running. [SPEAKER_03]: There's about 50 something set. [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, 58 seconds to go. [SPEAKER_03]: Minnesota is trying to figure out it's fourth and I think eight. [SPEAKER_03]: Are they going to try to? [SPEAKER_03]: Are they going to punt?
[SPEAKER_03]: Right. [SPEAKER_03]: Go for it or long field goal. [SPEAKER_03]: I felt there only option really was long field goal or punt. [SPEAKER_03]: It wasn't goal for. [SPEAKER_03]: They only had like 160 yards of offense. [SPEAKER_03]: They were horrific. [SPEAKER_03]: on offense. [SPEAKER_04]: So 50 seconds.
[SPEAKER_03]: And so now so that we wish would be a 60 yard field, but no matter what, you want time on the clock. [SPEAKER_03]: But six has two timeouts, doesn't call. [SPEAKER_04]: That's the clock. [SPEAKER_03]: Let's the clock run all the way down to like 25 seconds. [SPEAKER_03]: What were you thinking about?
[SPEAKER_03]: I was thinking I'd go, what is he doing? [SPEAKER_03]: Call time out because if they make this, you want the time or if they miss it, you get the ball right there. [SPEAKER_03]: You still want the time. [SPEAKER_03]: It's like, oh, wow, he doesn't do it. [SPEAKER_03]: They make this, just by the way, maybe one of the greatest endings I've ever seen in college football.
[SPEAKER_03]: It's the only time where two 60-yard field goals were made in one game. [SPEAKER_03]: And they were made within 20 seconds. [SPEAKER_02]: That was awesome. [SPEAKER_03]: So anyway, so the clock runs down. [SPEAKER_03]: They make the field goal. [SPEAKER_03]: They be a Minnesota. [SPEAKER_03]: They get the ball back on the first play.
[SPEAKER_03]: They throw like a 35-yard back shoulder to be backer. [SPEAKER_03]: And then he ends up now the same thing. [SPEAKER_03]: What if they had more time? [SPEAKER_03]: They probably had chance to go down to win the game, but they kicked the 60-yard of themselves. [SPEAKER_03]: I believe he aired, but I believe he aired on that one, but here's where the ultimate air was.
[SPEAKER_03]: So Becker catches the ball. [SPEAKER_03]: And this is a complete, this is a bad bad job by Indiana. [SPEAKER_03]: He catches the ball, Indiana thought he was out of bounds. [SPEAKER_03]: He wasn't, so there was like 12 seconds left, right? [SPEAKER_03]: They whine the clock, so all of a sudden the answer goes, the clock is running, so now it's eight, seven, six, the ball step, if the quarterback would have scrambled around a little bit and threw it out, [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if the quarterback in the clock was running the back of the race and they had two time outs left.
[SPEAKER_03]: So when he caught the ball in my mind with 12 seconds no matter what time out, let's talk about what we want to run right here for this play to get some yards then we have a time out left. [SPEAKER_03]: They have the clock about ran out on it was a double [SPEAKER_03]: a double air and the first when you can say all you want you can make up a reason not to there was no reason on the last one because you see six confused he thought he was out of bounds and it would have been an epic coaching air that would have would have if that game ends like that it would have been unbelievable but he gets by with it to guy nails a 60 yard field back to the Minnesota the he nails rentable he's not even their kicker he's their he's their only their long long kicker
[SPEAKER_03]: And that ending was, didn't what happened in over time? [SPEAKER_03]: They scored in the first play to backer in the Minnesota Couldn't score. [SPEAKER_03]: Okay, now back to the 50 seconds. [SPEAKER_03]: What was this rap? [SPEAKER_03]: Do you know what is ration? [SPEAKER_03]: Now, what's for letting it wind down that far?
[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know what, the only thing in the ration, I don't know what is rational would have been, because if you winds it all the way down, and Minnesota says, we're gonna go for it. [SPEAKER_03]: They've still, if they got it, they'd be in field goal range, and then the extra time wouldn't mean anything, really.
[SPEAKER_03]: You know what I mean? [SPEAKER_03]: It's not a big deal. [SPEAKER_03]: Either way, you think you want time for one thing. [SPEAKER_03]: If they kick it and make it, I want more time. [SPEAKER_03]: if they kick it and miss it I want more time or if they also if they put which I thought they could put and try to pin them inside the ten you still want what more time right and so they're I I couldn't put it together was it something in the press box that he's [SPEAKER_03]: Now this was like at forty five they're like he's making he's making PJ make a decision here Yeah, he's just I don't know I don't know and I As I followed other people he actually because I was dismayed by it other people were on definitely on this side of it like what was how was he doing with the biggest one was the what was he wasn't out of bounds
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, and Charlie Becker wasn't out of bounds. [SPEAKER_03]: They called him in bounds. [SPEAKER_03]: So it's like, God, tell me all it was was first down stopage. [SPEAKER_03]: They line up and all of a sudden, so when you see it, the ball is not snapped in the clock is running. [SPEAKER_03]: And then now it's like, and I'm, I'm, I'm watching it's going to like, the game's going to run out.
[SPEAKER_03]: If he'd thrown the ball deep, the clock would run out. [SPEAKER_03]: They have heard it disaster. [SPEAKER_03]: They had heard it disaster. [SPEAKER_03]: Then he makes it. [SPEAKER_03]: It's not like, zig's bite. [SPEAKER_03]: And it fails them out. [SPEAKER_03]: And zig's, how about zig's being?
[SPEAKER_03]: What? [SPEAKER_03]: Half an inch from being undefeated talk about close things. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, he's a harsh Had a bad image from being undefeated and he's also It's a thing about them easily should have lost in Nebraska should have lost this game to Minnesota I mean, so they could easily be sitting there right now with three losses out of the eight and one right now.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's said instead they're eight and one and that hold on Is it interesting like this is what I mean by these late games situations are so hard to manage I don't know see even six Baches it [SPEAKER_03]: He definitely barged in the first part of his botched here's the other part of it, too.
[SPEAKER_03]: Let's see if that's a third. [SPEAKER_03]: That's a big hit. [SPEAKER_03]: If he would have called timeout right away, and then there had been nobody in the country that would have said, why do you call timeout? [SPEAKER_03]: Everybody would have said, and even if it wasn't what he, he made it came back with another reason, maybe I shouldn't have called timeout because I was thinking this complexity of things.
[SPEAKER_03]: Everybody would have been like, no, smart move, fourth and eight. [SPEAKER_03]: They got to make a play, they got to make a decision because the thing was, I felt even though it was harder. [SPEAKER_03]: It made it easier for PJ to say, hey, we're down to 26 seconds here. [SPEAKER_03]: Right.
[SPEAKER_03]: Okay. [SPEAKER_03]: So if we kick this, we don't make it. [SPEAKER_03]: They don't have time. [SPEAKER_03]: We still have a chance to stop them from scoring. [SPEAKER_03]: You still have a chance to stop them from scoring. [SPEAKER_03]: But if there's 56 seconds, I'm going like, guys, [SPEAKER_03]: We're screwed.
[SPEAKER_03]: If we kick this and we miss this, is there a ball at the 40? [SPEAKER_03]: And they got 56 seconds and two timeouts. [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I mean, I want to be down to one time out of that time. [SPEAKER_03]: But they could run the ball or do whatever that time. [SPEAKER_03]: So it's very interesting.
[SPEAKER_03]: So the clock management and timeouts with all those things going on, how they pulled that off is unbelievable. [SPEAKER_03]: And how many soda hung in there is the same way. [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, they're ahead with 20 sums. [SPEAKER_03]: I think they got the ball back with 19 seconds. [SPEAKER_03]: I think that's what I got back was with 19 second Indiana Indiana back with 19 and hit like a 35 yard back right away right away But they didn't hit on that play then for that to happen also what's the number one player looking at back shoulder becker He's caught like exactly of him to staple playful play of how they didn't have somebody on it was 19 seconds So all the and something with that all the 33 yards the 1333 then what did they get after that?
[SPEAKER_02]: Then, incomplete past Nick Marsh and then the field goal. [SPEAKER_04]: That's it. [SPEAKER_04]: That was it. [SPEAKER_04]: One pass. [SPEAKER_04]: One pass. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay. [SPEAKER_04]: Here's a, all you do is stop the first play. [SPEAKER_04]: You win the game. [SPEAKER_04]: I got to ask a question my mom would ask.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay. [SPEAKER_04]: You know, this is a mom question. [SPEAKER_04]: Is there any thought of coach's ever have someone to help them with the clock? [SPEAKER_03]: Well, everybody has a clock management. [SPEAKER_03]: They used to have a book in their hands. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: It tells them about when to go for two.
[SPEAKER_03]: Standing around standing around. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: Somebody, oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: We did. [SPEAKER_04]: They needed to go to six and six. [SPEAKER_04]: What are you doing here? [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: But can you do that? [SPEAKER_04]: Can the clock manager go to the head coach and go, hey, I may be take one.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: I will say this. [SPEAKER_03]: I've never seen anyone with six. [SPEAKER_03]: I've never seen. [SPEAKER_03]: So if someone's talking to him on the headphones, I don't know what, and I just, what can happen to you is just think about this. [SPEAKER_03]: You're pretty disheveled at this time.
[SPEAKER_03]: You're tied up. [SPEAKER_03]: You're mind like that. [SPEAKER_03]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_03]: Now he can, he can obviously, no matter what, he can have a plan and say, this is what I was thinking. [SPEAKER_03]: This is why. [SPEAKER_03]: Okay, but not on the last one. [SPEAKER_03]: When he wasn't out of bounds, and they have a timeout left.
[SPEAKER_04]: Just thought he went out. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, he must have thought Becker was out, but we all did. [SPEAKER_03]: It's like, but bottom line is he was on the ground. [SPEAKER_03]: So meaning if he caught the ball, he had to be ruled in bounds. [SPEAKER_03]: Right. [SPEAKER_03]: It's impossible not to say that he was in bounds.
[SPEAKER_03]: Okay. [SPEAKER_03]: And so it wasn't like he was on he was he's on his butt when he basically caught the pass is what happened with it. [SPEAKER_03]: You expect the coach to know that right in the moment. [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, the first thing that that is one that would have been said right away, but hey, hey coach coach coach in the coach You know is he out of bounds is he out of bounds if they call them out of bounds Things are moving fast things are moving fast.
[SPEAKER_04]: I always kind of hate the second guess that stuff a little bit Especially six. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, especially six. [SPEAKER_03]: I mean [SPEAKER_04]: It's the first one the first one the 50 second thing everybody in the press I don't want to see doing see doing I right away. [SPEAKER_04]: Why is he I'm watching the play go I go I go.
[SPEAKER_03]: I'm like time out time out What he's doing he's just kind of staring over there and it came up also here's a thing to remember in coaching [SPEAKER_03]: So we talked about the game, you know what it's like to wake up Minnesota the next day. [SPEAKER_03]: When you're when you're PJ Fleck, and you almost beat the number 14 on the road, I mean, it is and then you know when you get over it, never, never.
[SPEAKER_03]: They'll say it. [SPEAKER_03]: They'll say it when they do his eulogy when he passes and they'll be, they'll be a friend stand up and say, and then. [SPEAKER_03]: He's probably still be with us right now, if it wasn't for the loss at Indiana and Bloomington and Bloomington. [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, it'll be, you know, I mean, all the stuff you wins, all the, the Iowa win that feeling is not like, hey, guys, you still beat Iowa, man.
[SPEAKER_03]: We're good. [SPEAKER_03]: No, you're not. [SPEAKER_03]: You can't breathe. [SPEAKER_03]: He don't know what to say. [SPEAKER_04]: That's rough. [SPEAKER_04]: It is. [SPEAKER_02]: It has been an epic back to back wins from Pippegee. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, be Iowa and Indiana back to back. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, God.
[SPEAKER_02]: You saw this celebration the post came after the Iowa win was getting on. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: What were you done in blow? [SPEAKER_03]: If they'd if they'd if they'd they would if they would have they would have would have probably body surfed on the plane. [SPEAKER_03]: PGA would have body surfed on the whole the way to the airport.
[SPEAKER_03]: All the way to the airport. [SPEAKER_03]: They might have body surfed him to the airport. [SPEAKER_04]: That's they have some bounce don't they? [SPEAKER_03]: They do they can't and the quarterback we talked about big arm like this. [SPEAKER_03]: No, he's not good at all. [SPEAKER_03]: Which one was it lens?
[SPEAKER_03]: Lens. [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, Drake. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, his numbers are if you look what they did numbers. [SPEAKER_03]: Why is it's, it's horrible and in the end, it's just an okay defense. [SPEAKER_03]: They're solid. [SPEAKER_02]: Then Z was 20 of 37 for 120. [SPEAKER_02]: One touchdown.
[SPEAKER_02]: No, pay one. [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, they damn your one. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: They damn your one. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: They're tough. [SPEAKER_03]: Minnesota looked tough. [SPEAKER_03]: They are tough. [SPEAKER_03]: They are rugged football team. [SPEAKER_02]: They built a headline one more time.
[SPEAKER_02]: Please on this. [SPEAKER_03]: Got it right here for you, Jake. [SPEAKER_03]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_04]: Tick-tock. [SPEAKER_02]: Who always the claw? [SPEAKER_04]: I'm glad you did that, because I wonder what you would say about that. [SPEAKER_04]: First, the first part. [SPEAKER_04]: The thank you for the glasses, Steve.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, you love it. [SPEAKER_03]: I'm just coming apart. [SPEAKER_02]: And it's Bill's drill spot by Diner. [SPEAKER_04]: Diner. [SPEAKER_02]: Diner. [SPEAKER_02]: Out of time, Randy. [SPEAKER_02]: Let's talk about Anthony Clandria next on Early Break in the Ticket.
