[SPEAKER_00]: Robots radio, games, lore, stories, community, just press play. [SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to the Fallout lore cast. [SPEAKER_00]: The podcast that explores the boundaries of our knowledge about the world of Fallout. [SPEAKER_00]: Wastelanders and Voltweller's welcome back to the Fallout lorecast.

[SPEAKER_00]: We are taking on episode 5 of Season 1 of the Fallout TV show, The Past, and when I say we, I've got John Beck with me again, John. [SPEAKER_00]: Welcome back, are you excited to talk more Fallout? [SPEAKER_01]: I'm always excited to talk more Fallout, it's funny because the more Fallout I talk, the more Fallout I want to talk.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, I know right like going back through these episodes has been super fun for me because I'm noticing a little bit of things that I didn't before I'm digging back into it and you and I were discussing in the pre-show that the new trailer dropped for season two Yeah, we wanted just talk about that real fast before we get into episode five because you called out something On a previous episode that you and I did where you said it would be really cool if Marcus shows up.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah [SPEAKER_00]: And then in the trailer, we get this dark screen and a deep voice talking about needing friends. [SPEAKER_00]: And you and I just got on this call to start recording and you were like, hey Tom, Marcus is coming back. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, that's Marcus.

[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that is 100% Marcus. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, and that is, [SPEAKER_01]: I'll be honest, they kind of had to do that because so you think if you're a fallout fan, Marcus is in fallout two and fallout new Vegas He's right critical in both of those games, right so it's such a great homage going butt back and also allows you to Super meet newtons.

[SPEAKER_01]: I mean the way I look at the next season is [SPEAKER_01]: And you saw this where I think a little bit of Lord of the Rings actually jumped into the detail bit earlier. [SPEAKER_01]: But like a wheel of time was going that's when a lot of the ones where the first season is designed to set up more of the common folk for the hey, the here's a cool show.

[SPEAKER_01]: We'll do some homages to the players. [SPEAKER_01]: just make to broaden our audience as much as possible and get them in. [SPEAKER_01]: And then usually in the second season, that's when you drop all the stuff. [SPEAKER_01]: It's like, hey, now we're going to go deep into this. [SPEAKER_01]: We're going to make it some amazing game.

[SPEAKER_01]: What's like game is amazing show. [SPEAKER_01]: This show out of the game really show off the game. [SPEAKER_01]: So, I mean, think of what do we see? [SPEAKER_01]: What did we see in that trailer? [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I said that scorpions red scorpions and red roaches to show up. [SPEAKER_00]: The chicken got chicken lovers dealing with some of those.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but yeah, just like this in one. [SPEAKER_00]: Mr. House. [SPEAKER_00]: We have got the Mr. [SPEAKER_00]: Cowboy. [SPEAKER_01]: I've got a group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of the group of

[SPEAKER_00]: the security on it. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So okay. [SPEAKER_00]: So there's a few different security ons, right? [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: But I don't know which one it is because they can all change their faces. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but I remember in new Vegas there was if you basically if you Have you pissed off you did something to want to secure a trance and it would have on it The how he partner would be great very very violent right right So yeah, there's yes man and then there was there's a few others and yeah, so yeah, that's that's a big question for me Is which is this just a general secure tron is this yes man?

[SPEAKER_00]: Is this like what is going on there with that? [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not really sure [SPEAKER_00]: a hooded cloaked character backlit. [SPEAKER_00]: It looks kind of big and I don't know, you think it's a hooded death claw? [SPEAKER_00]: You think it's, I think it's, I think it's an even the companion in Fallout 2 that was the death claw.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's what I'm trying to do. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm trying to follow up too. [SPEAKER_01]: That's what my main thought, that would be, that would be, I don't know, that also could be Marcus in all candor. [SPEAKER_01]: I could be Marcus in all candor. [SPEAKER_01]: I could be Marcus in all candor.

[SPEAKER_01]: I could be Marcus in all candor. [SPEAKER_01]: I could be Marcus in all candor. [SPEAKER_00]: I could be Marcus in all candor. [SPEAKER_00]: I could be Marcus in all candor. [SPEAKER_00]: Gores was his name. [SPEAKER_01]: Gores. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: Who knows how far they want to go with that?

[SPEAKER_01]: Because the problem is a death claw. [SPEAKER_01]: Is that the last time we had a, like, friendly death claw? [SPEAKER_01]: Was it fall out too? [SPEAKER_00]: There are some that have been tamed, but not intelligent and friendly that I All at all across anything after that. [SPEAKER_00]: So Yeah, so I mean, it would be cool to get gors.

[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, we're okay. [SPEAKER_00]: So here's here's the other thing is that if you are introducing Super Mutants with a Super Mutant who is more rational friendly [SPEAKER_00]: and very different from most of the super mutants, even there's different types of super mutants, but different from most of them in a very specific kind of way.

[SPEAKER_00]: Then why not also introduce the idea that some death clas aren't just monsters. [SPEAKER_00]: Also, oh yeah, my view point is more, it might just be a bit much, it might, it might, unless it's kind of a hidden character behind scenes that doesn't really get revealed further until season 3.

[SPEAKER_00]: What if it's somebody else working in the shadows going to do something? [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, who knows, right? [SPEAKER_00]: This could go all sorts of interactions. [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, lots of fun reveals in the trailer. [SPEAKER_00]: The character, the communal non-Johnny characters and the guy from Fallout 4.

[SPEAKER_00]: So a lot of people are speculating that that's neat. [SPEAKER_00]: Your character, the main [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think it is, because Nate comes across very sincere in his dialogue. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's fought for us the only one where your character has his own dialogue. [SPEAKER_00]: He comes across very sincere.

[SPEAKER_00]: He can make jokes and things, but he tends to be very vanilla, because he's still a conduit for the player. [SPEAKER_00]: Camille Nagyani is like, he's a charismatic, humorous, kind of a loof kind of guy. [SPEAKER_00]: He plays those kinds of roles. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I thought it was Arthur Maxim.

[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I don't know that he, I mean, he doesn't really look like Maxim either because he's missing a scar on his eye. [SPEAKER_00]: He has a similar jacket. [SPEAKER_00]: He has similar hair. [SPEAKER_00]: He has less facial hair. [SPEAKER_00]: And he doesn't have a scar across like his, That's the reason.

[SPEAKER_01]: That's the rest of it. [SPEAKER_01]: It's the same. [SPEAKER_00]: But also, but also, it's the personality thing, right? [SPEAKER_00]: Like Roger Maxim is, he is stoic. [SPEAKER_00]: He does not crack you. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, he's super serious and why would you cast that kind of actor for that kind of role?

[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't it doesn't it doesn't line up. [SPEAKER_00]: I think I think the best possibility for him is that he is an important character maybe he's a pilot. [SPEAKER_00]: That's why he gets that jacket Maybe he's a leader of a of a faction who shows up to just kind of check in and see what's going on Or something like that, but it don't think he's a character we've met before or played as that's my that's my speculation.

[SPEAKER_00]: I could be wrong [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you know, you're fine. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm actually I was doing is it the boomers now, but I'm I don't think it's the boomers It's on the boomers Um, for having probably not the boomers, uh, but yeah, I lots of questions still for that But hey, are you ready to dive into episode five?

[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, let's let's do what we came here to let's [SPEAKER_00]: Let's do it. [SPEAKER_00]: And listeners, if you have thoughts on the trailer, if you have thoughts on any of the stuff that comes up in today's episode, please comment. [SPEAKER_00]: Let us know your thoughts because we're open to all sorts of interpretations on these things and even interpreting things that happen in season one and how those things are going to progress.

[SPEAKER_00]: Or if they have a specific meaning or a specific reference that doesn't come up in today's episode, we're not going to hit everything of course. [SPEAKER_00]: Feel free to chime in and let us know what you think. [SPEAKER_00]: All right, episode five is called the past. [SPEAKER_00]: And this, the first scene opens up with Maximus and Thadius, and they're celebrating getting the head.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's late out, Thadius asks to be branded. [SPEAKER_00]: Maximus decides that he needs to tell him something. [SPEAKER_00]: He says probably something I should tell you. [SPEAKER_00]: And then Thadius responds, they'll kill you. [SPEAKER_00]: It's the brother head, they'll find out. [SPEAKER_00]: He pulls out the fusion core and leaves him stuck there.

[SPEAKER_00]: What did you think of this scene? [SPEAKER_01]: Um, so this is one of the, I wasn't a huge fan of from being honest because I, I, I, I, Thadias and noise me, just can't put you guys kind of a scam. [SPEAKER_01]: He's kind of a, I mean, he's kind of a dude. [SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, he noise me.

[SPEAKER_01]: The, the thing of the scene I did like was I thought that a good job of showing kind of the youth of the brother, the whole idea when we get through the brotherhood of the get this, especially through the games. [SPEAKER_01]: Is that it starts off with and follow up one follow-up two is being the second of old older Noble night so that stuff and then as we get further especially in the fallout four You see a lot more of the flux in there and I think what these two showed later.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah Especially with the minute they're both They're young and yeah, yeah, and the idea is it as a squire this is kind of like they're just so [SPEAKER_01]: in this in the moment and we see more of this and that is more in episode 6 kind of where things coming really like oh these people are just kind of they're stuck in the moment at all times right they don't really understand because their brotherhood isn't teaching them all of this stuff the brotherhood is making them just soldiers right so right [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I also think this scene is key in reinforcing, like you mentioned, season one is all about bringing people into the world.

[SPEAKER_00]: What is the world like? [SPEAKER_00]: It not only explains, okay, these suits are powered by fusion cores. [SPEAKER_00]: Many other things can be powered by fusion cores. [SPEAKER_00]: It solves that question. [SPEAKER_00]: How would you power something like this in the future? [SPEAKER_00]: Well, there's fusion cores and they still have power in them.

[SPEAKER_00]: But it also reinforces the dangers of being alone in the wasteland. [SPEAKER_00]: Like the entire show is about individuals who have a hard time trusting each other in a world where they have to trust each other to survive. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's what this does. [SPEAKER_00]: This leads us into the next scene where Maximus is stuck in the armor.

[SPEAKER_00]: There's these giant rad roaches that are coming in. [SPEAKER_00]: Lucy shows up. [SPEAKER_00]: She shoots them. [SPEAKER_00]: We have music that plays. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to point out some of the songs again. [SPEAKER_00]: This is Robin in the pine by Bonnie Gitar. [SPEAKER_00]: Some of the lyrics include.

[SPEAKER_00]: There's a Robin singing in the old pine tree. [SPEAKER_00]: Spring is coming over the hills. [SPEAKER_00]: In a nest of four two, you'll find two eggs of blue. [SPEAKER_00]: Papa Robbins all the thrill. [SPEAKER_00]: It's all about mating settled down. [SPEAKER_00]: foreshadowing a potential romantic connection between the two, which gets played up a bit through the second half of the season, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: Now Lucie opens a face mask. [SPEAKER_00]: Lucie says, I'm looking for the man's head. [SPEAKER_00]: She throws up. [SPEAKER_00]: She has radiation poisoning. [SPEAKER_00]: Maximus, yes, Maximus's name. [SPEAKER_00]: He says, I'm night tightest. [SPEAKER_00]: He lies to her. [SPEAKER_00]: Great way to start a relationship, lying to each other.

[SPEAKER_00]: But he's still pretending to be someone he isn't. [SPEAKER_00]: And then Lucie mentions in the scene, T60, Power Armor, the battle of Anchorage, the tempered lightning, the fact that this one is different from the previous ones because it's tempered lining. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's basically the scene.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I also did like, I like the Brad Roaches. [SPEAKER_01]: It's something about it's anyone just played this game enough. [SPEAKER_01]: No, those things are annoying as hell. [SPEAKER_01]: And they come out of nowhere. [SPEAKER_01]: So I did like that they brought in the Brad Roaches.

[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I got those things. [SPEAKER_00]: I love how they fall over. [SPEAKER_00]: I love how they're super ungainly and uncoordinated. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, kind of like real coaches, but if you, they were like 20 pounds, they wouldn't be able to go around very well. [SPEAKER_00]: That was really my thought because they're gigantic.

[SPEAKER_01]: Of course, you know, how else would they be? [SPEAKER_00]: They're bigger than my dog. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they've got to be at least 15, 20 pounds, right? [SPEAKER_00]: So. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, there's that scene and then we go back to the vaults with Norm and this this episode in the next episode is very Norm Centric.

[SPEAKER_00]: I mean the whole rest of this Norm has his own arc and he becomes a main character by the end of this season. [SPEAKER_00]: He was one of my favorite characters. [SPEAKER_00]: He really grew one [SPEAKER_01]: Well, Norm was the one who was actually kind of, I think for those of us who played the game, pushing the mystery forward.

[SPEAKER_01]: Norm is the one who's sitting there giving us those answers we've all been looking for of like, all right, what is the interpretation in this version of Fallout of [SPEAKER_01]: the bolts themselves. [SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: You always get little bits obvious that you're always going to get little changes, yada, yada.

[SPEAKER_01]: But I really did like that enormous character exploring the bolts, you know, looking up his mom's pit boy, all these things becomes huge. [SPEAKER_00]: right right so they go into vault 31 there's blood on the wall we know what is in there Betty catches them on the way back out right and um yeah she says where if you've been and he says planning tatos and it wasn't a good answer because it definitely didn't look like they've been planting tatos but we got another reference to tatos another fallouty thing right [SPEAKER_00]: So that's pretty cool.

[SPEAKER_00]: And this is building up that tension between Betty and Norm and it's not just explained to us that Norm is curious and gaining his courage. [SPEAKER_00]: He's seen himself as a coward, an aimless kind of individual who now has a purpose and is learning that he is more capable than he thinks.

[SPEAKER_00]: And we also are slowly discovering that Betty is more than we thought. [SPEAKER_00]: So that's kind of unraveling here later. [SPEAKER_00]: So then we go back to Max and Lucy. [SPEAKER_00]: She wakes back up. [SPEAKER_00]: Max, Max says, Max was thought the vaults held monsters. [SPEAKER_00]: He says something about the vaults.

[SPEAKER_00]: I thought the vaults held monsters. [SPEAKER_00]: Which is a funny comment to me because sometimes that is true. [SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes they literally have monsters in them. [SPEAKER_00]: And sometimes they have humans. [SPEAKER_00]: Vault tech you could say is a monster in its own right.

[SPEAKER_00]: Alright, so he's basically true, like that statement is basically true almost all of the time. [SPEAKER_00]: There are monsters in the vaults, they're just different kinds of monsters, depending on which vault you go in. [SPEAKER_00]: Lucy says, I have a tracker that'll lead to that head, let's travel together, give the head back, and then you can lend me some nights to save my father, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: And of course he's like, yeah sure, because [SPEAKER_00]: But else is you're gonna say like and I love her naive expectation and you can let me like four or five nights in armor to come save my father because they have nothing better to do sure. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: Whoa.

[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I mean. [SPEAKER_01]: Lucy still that's the hope that's the this again Lucy is playing the vault really well and I think back again my big thing on this show is is I'm not necessarily looking for like fallout five out of the show in the sense that hey Let's push the narrative along like I want to play fallout [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, what I like is them taking all these games giving me homage as to them and kind of taking a different swing at it right and look at Lucy I'm reminded of Fallout 3 where you're growing up in the vault.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and yeah, you're super nice. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah [SPEAKER_01]: Well, and then when you go back to 101, and the whole place is kind of falling apart, there's, I really like that element, and I think they're doing a good job of bringing that in here. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: There's also another, this is another, I've got these little highlighted sections in my notes where I'm like, this is something that I didn't consider the first time.

[SPEAKER_00]: So her naivety is obvious, right? [SPEAKER_00]: That's who her character is. [SPEAKER_00]: She's been stuck in a vault, and they keep on reinforcing that with her response, because that's who she is. [SPEAKER_00]: benefit. [SPEAKER_00]: It seems like it's a major drawback, but there's actually a benefit into that, because it seems to inspire Maximus that there is a better world possible.

[SPEAKER_00]: at the idea of living in a place where people get along where they have plenty to eat, where they survive, they don't have to worry about the wasteland, is a possibility. [SPEAKER_00]: And you can kind of see that seed of an idea planted in him in the scene, and it continues to develop from there.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's part of why he's enamored with her, is she represents the thing that he has always wanted, but never believed was possible, even though she's naive. [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, that's how that hits me. [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I don't disagree. [SPEAKER_01]: I just, yeah, my thing.

[SPEAKER_01]: I like, I'm more focusing with her on the source of night, the negativity. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I really like. [SPEAKER_01]: It's like, oh, like again, the whole thing of like, [SPEAKER_01]: Tell me about what's happened over the last two hundred years. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, I know everything before that because she does.

[SPEAKER_00]: Right, but the last study is really fuzzy. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, that part's great. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, that's coming up. [SPEAKER_00]: But let's go into the next scene. [SPEAKER_00]: We've got Vol 33, Norm. [SPEAKER_00]: It's voting time. [SPEAKER_00]: Betty versus Reg versus Woody.

[SPEAKER_00]: We all know Reg and Woody don't have a chance. [SPEAKER_00]: The song that's played in the scene is battle him of the Republic, which feels [SPEAKER_00]: both super poignant because they believe that they are the future of America, but also similarly naive, right, to like Lucy's perspective here.

[SPEAKER_00]: Like you guys can barely mount a political campaign in a vault full of just a few hundred people or however many people are in that vault. [SPEAKER_00]: You're the future of America, you know, like, yeah, come on. [SPEAKER_00]: So then the scene has David feeling awkward, not voting for for red, and then we get the reveal that Betty's been an overseer before.

[SPEAKER_00]: Regions of voting for Betty, because he doesn't even believe in himself. [SPEAKER_00]: What did you think? [SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's a couple things I loved about this. [SPEAKER_01]: First off, I did like the guy who just overexplained himself. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it was like, you know, so I'm just not going to vote for you.

[SPEAKER_01]: Like, yeah, man, I know. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, this is David. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, 45 minutes telling me, right? [SPEAKER_01]: I could tell. [SPEAKER_01]: I did like his whole thing of, I also am not going to vote for me. [SPEAKER_00]: right right it just it shows how eat they all understand how not just naive but not capable they are they've never had to surmount any difficulties in their life so they're all kind of just lame [SPEAKER_00]: I think that's really what that's pushing, right?

[SPEAKER_01]: And that's, and this becomes, so this scene I'll be honest, didn't make a lot of sense till we get further into the show. [SPEAKER_01]: Because you kind of said they're saying, hey, is this entire vault idiot? [SPEAKER_01]: So like, what's going on here? [SPEAKER_01]: But then as we get further into the show, I mean, look, we've all seen it.

[SPEAKER_01]: We can reveal a little bit. [SPEAKER_01]: And we discover the origins of vault 31, right? [SPEAKER_01]: It all has to make sense that this is intentional. [SPEAKER_01]: They've been kept, they're right. [SPEAKER_00]: They've been kept weak. [SPEAKER_00]: so that they can't bounce a response, they can't rise up, they can't, and it's on purpose.

[SPEAKER_00]: And that's my, that's my highlighted note for this scene. [SPEAKER_00]: I have this shows how much of a subconscious grip the on-clave has over the people of the vault's perspective. [SPEAKER_00]: Everything that they've done in this vault has been on purpose to keep them down into maintain, not just their perspective about the way the world works and doing this for the future of America, but also this doubt in their own abilities, because everything, it's [SPEAKER_00]: You know, wealthy household and not giving them challenges to overcome, they end up going on to the world and just failing because everything was too easy for them.

[SPEAKER_00]: The parents just gave them everything they wanted, right? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Totally. [SPEAKER_01]: One hundred percent. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So I thought that like even though these little scenes are just feel like a little character. [SPEAKER_00]: details.

[SPEAKER_00]: There's always more going on and I find that so interesting. [SPEAKER_00]: So we're back to Lucy and Max walking down the railway. [SPEAKER_00]: Lucy's unaware of what happened in the last two in arms. [SPEAKER_00]: This is that conversation. [SPEAKER_00]: Max thinks the bombs fell when he was a kid, which is also hilarious.

[SPEAKER_00]: He's equally as ignorant just in different ways. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, he's not wrong though. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: That's the problem. [SPEAKER_00]: That's the problem. [SPEAKER_00]: When he was a kid. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: But it wasn't the bombs.

[SPEAKER_00]: So maybe he's answering a different question or maybe he's conflating the two things together. [SPEAKER_01]: And then Lucy, he's not educated to know so that's his whole thing of like no, I saw this happen. [SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't understand. [SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: No, there's there's a lot more.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he was so young in those scenes where we flashback. [SPEAKER_00]: No wonder he thought that was the end of the world because that's what it felt like exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: And he was an educated Lucy also has memories of being outside with her mom. [SPEAKER_00]: And at first, we think, oh, that was the simulated sun inside the vaults, but we later find out that no, she was actually outside.

[SPEAKER_00]: And again, it mirrors Maximus. [SPEAKER_00]: She is ignorant as he is to the events of when she was a child. [SPEAKER_00]: and both of them are misunderstanding what their childhood was and what was happening around them, which is all so poetic. [SPEAKER_00]: Two things happening together, different problems, same perspective, or different perspective, same issue.

[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, however you want to say that. [SPEAKER_00]: Then we get back to Vault 33 with Norm. [SPEAKER_00]: He's checking the overseer elections. [SPEAKER_00]: He finds out that all the overseers are originally from Vault 31. [SPEAKER_00]: This seems suspicious. [SPEAKER_00]: Betty gets a 98% majority.

[SPEAKER_00]: I have to wonder, who didn't vote for her? [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, who was like picking the other candidate and then there's this awkward Congratulations from norm and they kind of like stare each other down in front of the jello cake thing I love how jello's all over the place. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you boys I mean he's who to produce that's the whole thing, but yeah, yeah, no, I also got a huge kick out of it [SPEAKER_00]: It's also retro, like there was a big trend in like the 60s and 50s or something and we're everywhere was like jello's, the new dessert.

[SPEAKER_00]: Everybody she developed. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah, jello came out, jello came out and came out and yeah, they with the 50s, it became that's where the jello molds come from with the pretzels in them and that whole thing. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: It was an era of food. [SPEAKER_01]: It was, it was, it's food to Jason's house.

[SPEAKER_01]: The heavy air quotes, heavy air quotes, but yeah, all right. [SPEAKER_00]: So then we get to a more interesting scene, at least adventure-wise. [SPEAKER_00]: Lucy and Max are still walking. [SPEAKER_00]: They come across two people. [SPEAKER_00]: They're trying to cross this bridge. [SPEAKER_00]: The railroad goes over.

[SPEAKER_00]: We have this thing where they ask if they're arms, Maximus lies. [SPEAKER_00]: They hold up their hands. [SPEAKER_00]: The song that's playing here is Ladyfingers by Herb Elperts, Tijuana Brass. [SPEAKER_00]: This feels intentional because it feels like a Western, almost Mexican influence kind of, you know, which is a different song.

[SPEAKER_00]: But it feels kind of like that, right? [SPEAKER_00]: This feels like this is a Mexican standoff of sorts. [SPEAKER_00]: in a way. [SPEAKER_01]: This scene is so reminiscent. [SPEAKER_01]: This is actually kind of upset me a little bit because it reminded me of what Fallout 3 really was.

[SPEAKER_01]: Fallout 3 was that they did this best where you would go somewhere and people were just kind of evil for lack of a better phrase. [SPEAKER_01]: You can stumble across. [SPEAKER_01]: You still get it a little bit in New Vegas, but I didn't find as much [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, whereas I like this idea of people heavy air quotes trying to survive heavy air quotes there But in there attempts to survive they you know, they're just murderers for each other So I'd love to love this scene Yeah, and Maximus calls it out.

[SPEAKER_00]: These are themes. [SPEAKER_00]: These are the themes just like from new Vegas I believe that was new Vegas, right? [SPEAKER_00]: And they were in the Mojave. [SPEAKER_00]: That's right. [SPEAKER_00]: And so these are fiends. [SPEAKER_00]: They're constantly on drugs, they eat people, they're terrible.

[SPEAKER_00]: And I love the tight zooms, the way this is portrayed. [SPEAKER_00]: You've got like the pit boy and then the bad teeth and then the clear eyes on Lucy. [SPEAKER_00]: And you can see how they're all kind of sizing each other up reading. [SPEAKER_00]: And from [SPEAKER_00]: When I first watched this from Lucy and Maximus perspective, it was, I was focusing on this, these other two going, right.

[SPEAKER_00]: Oh boy, okay. [SPEAKER_00]: I know what's going on here. [SPEAKER_00]: I now, these are not just even just raiders. [SPEAKER_00]: These are feeds. [SPEAKER_00]: This is messed up. [SPEAKER_00]: But then when you see it through the other perspective, you see the clear eyes. [SPEAKER_00]: You see Lucy's good complexion.

[SPEAKER_00]: She looks more clean than they do. [SPEAKER_00]: And you can see from her perspective that they're going, this is an easy, [SPEAKER_00]: in easy catch. [SPEAKER_00]: These people don't know what's going on. [SPEAKER_00]: We can take them. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, and that's where the whole concept, like, are you armed?

[SPEAKER_01]: Of course, not armed. [SPEAKER_01]: It's just that whole back and forth. [SPEAKER_01]: But it is. [SPEAKER_01]: It's this was the whole purpose of so many post-apocalyptic games is you're trying to survive and it's not and you're actually most at danger while traveling. [SPEAKER_01]: right that's where that's where you're at met most risk because there's no one around you people like this if you get into the city filly that the school shut up or you're new Vegas there we go there sure you can have law and order but trying to get from one spot to the next right nope right out in the wilderness which it's I like to draw a historical comparisons it's still it's still like that in many places in the world

[SPEAKER_00]: Whereas as soon as you are away from any civilized area, your safety is much, much reduced and for most of human history, it was, it would, it would, until the 20th century in most environments, it was almost impossible for a woman to go somewhere by herself. [SPEAKER_00]: Do two danger, you know, like, and a man by himself, if not accompanied by at least one other person, also not advised, you know, like, just in general.

[SPEAKER_00]: And it's so crazy that today, like my wife just went out to go work out, like she's just going out. [SPEAKER_00]: It's the evening, it's dark out. [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like, you know, it's be careful. [SPEAKER_00]: But... [SPEAKER_00]: He should be okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: Why wouldn't why would that be an issue?

[SPEAKER_01]: It's kind of the viewpoint there. [SPEAKER_01]: Right, course it's fine. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, oh yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: No. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: All right. [SPEAKER_00]: So, Vault 33. [SPEAKER_00]: We're back in Vault 33. [SPEAKER_00]: Woody's looking at his poster.

[SPEAKER_00]: He says, I put 10 posters up. [SPEAKER_00]: As if that was a great feat of effort. [SPEAKER_00]: That was a lot of work for Poor Woody to put up 10 posters. [SPEAKER_00]: David says, when things look gloom vote for someone from Vault 31. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, man. [SPEAKER_00]: It's such a good saying, you know.

[SPEAKER_00]: And it's, again, another scene that kind of reinforces the fact that Valtec is keeping all of them feeble and incapable to safe, right? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I think that the whole thing about the election is it's, that, that Schinsey, you know, we're going to have a rhyme. [SPEAKER_01]: We're going to have this, it's, it's an homage back to American elections in the [SPEAKER_00]: Hi guys and heroes when that comes to mind for me too.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's those types of little there was a couple in the 60s whose name I can't move that my head, but that style again really clever homage because that's what Fallout's meant to be. [SPEAKER_01]: Fallout's always been the game where it's like wait. [SPEAKER_01]: What year did this happen?

[SPEAKER_01]: And that was kind of the whole idea is, is it's like, society advanced, you know, obviously at the fall, you don't have, you know, the racism, and I have all the stuff you get, like we think of the 50s at the US. [SPEAKER_01]: But the idea was that the rest of society didn't really move forward.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's what makes it kind of fun. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, in the elections show that, because they're still using similar methods for their elections. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, then we get the scene with Norm, Chet, and the baby, isn't it weird? [SPEAKER_00]: We keep voting for 31, Vol 31 overseers, Norm says.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then we find out, that's where we find out steps from Vol 31. [SPEAKER_00]: She also is on the inside, and that all of a sudden completely can change our perspective on her because we're going, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, maybe you did, but for me, I didn't shift my, I was like, okay, she's from 31.

[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't realize the importance of 31 till much later. [SPEAKER_00]: Right, right, but it does, it did land a certain air of suspiciousness, especially because she's, yes, she's already established as her new baby daddy, you know, so, so it's, she's manipulative. [SPEAKER_00]: That's, go, you know, we got enough of that, oh, okay.

[SPEAKER_00]: Tell, maybe she's more than just [SPEAKER_00]: You know, personally manipulative. [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe she's part of a group that's manipulating everybody, right? [SPEAKER_00]: That would be a very different thing. [SPEAKER_00]: And then the norm says, how's about 31 different from here?

[SPEAKER_00]: And she replies, what did your dad tell you? [SPEAKER_00]: tactical response, right? [SPEAKER_00]: And he said, uh, mashed potatoes are a little bit better. [SPEAKER_00]: That's when my dad used to say, and then, and she's like, yep, basically like agreed with that. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, that's, that's the company line about what you're supposed to like, don't give away anything, just give a fun response and move on because nobody really cares.

[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, but exactly norm cares, right? [SPEAKER_00]: So a little more more hints about what's going on. [SPEAKER_00]: Then we get back to Lucien Max and now they're at the shady sand sign. [SPEAKER_00]: This is a big billboard. [SPEAKER_00]: It's this first capital of the NCR notice and this is something I noticed going back because people got so upset about shady sands being slightly in the wrong location.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's a little bit closer to the city than it should be. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Also, a lot of debate online happened where people were like, well, if you blow up the capital of a country, how can they continue fighting? [SPEAKER_00]: The NCR must be dead and all gone, and it's like, it's not 100% the case.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's not true. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry, this place could be true in your opinion, but it's wrong. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't I don't think that like you blow up one capital and if there are enough people who are still fighting they make a new capital Well the NCR that's the thing the NCR wasn't it's not like The on-clave even the on-clave might have worked as well because there's no like [SPEAKER_01]: Main ruling party.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's like if you blow up the NCR, okay, so you think out shady sands. [SPEAKER_01]: Fine, shady sands has gone. [SPEAKER_01]: Tant motandi is long dead, but still that's you're just picking out you're making them harder to function, but they can still easily exist because it's new California Republic.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's meant to be a grass roots campaign of like almost militia who are rising up to stand up for the wasteland and kind of you know I don't the difference has always been like the on-clave [SPEAKER_01]: wants to rule the brotherhood wants to pacify the wasteland the mean again i'm the big n c r person the n c r falls like they're trying to uplift the wasteland they're trying to learn the wasteland not into a wasteland but actually say hey man maybe you can be doing better out of this right right we're trying to go back to the new heat at them [SPEAKER_00]: right, Democratic and Republican ideals.

[SPEAKER_00]: And a lot of people push back, a lot of very strong opinionated New Vegas fans push back against the NCR because they go look at all the evidence from New Vegas that shows that they are incapable, they are corrupt and they're falling apart. [SPEAKER_00]: And they're not wrong about that.

[SPEAKER_00]: But how many times have we seen republics or democratic style systems go through periods with high corruption where they start to become less effective and then do to some sort of situation whether it's war or a depression or something like that they rally a new party takes hold and the laws change things change and they're able to bring themselves back from a place that was terrible that happened that's part of the resilience of a republic kind of system.

[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: So just because you just want capital doesn't mean they're done. [SPEAKER_00]: There are probably other major settlements at this point and some of them are going to become leaders naturally because they're going to rise up and do the things that the shady sands would have been doing.

[SPEAKER_00]: So. [SPEAKER_00]: That makes sense and we get we get a date on the established 2142 They this is interesting to me because this is not a billboard that was or the sign on the billboard was not created pre-war This was post-war. [SPEAKER_00]: This is showing us how capable the NCR was to actually do things like build back [SPEAKER_00]: things from the old world, a gigantic sign that talks about their location and now you're approaching it.

[SPEAKER_00]: Later on in the vaults, we see images of drawings of shady sands and on the chalkboard, right? [SPEAKER_00]: And we have pictures of them and even in flashbacks of them revitalizing old world buildings so that they looked clean and nice again. [SPEAKER_00]: we're seeing like we've seen glimpses of shady sands in the games becoming revitalized but by the time that that place got bombed it was it was functional in a very similar way to the world before the bombs dropped it was one little isolated thing but it but it was it was moving in that direction [SPEAKER_01]: Well, shady sands again, I mean, I'm going back to fall out too.

[SPEAKER_01]: shady sands was, I mean, that's the one when you had President Tandy, who's long on this point, shady sands was a major settlement. [SPEAKER_01]: It was actually, it was that them involved city, we're basically at more involved city was a vault, which I also kind of wonder, you know, if we're going to see vault life, we won't see vault city, but I was kind of hoping to see vault city.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but it's too far north from shady sands. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so who knows? [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe not in the next season, but maybe in a future season No, he knows where they go after so much they can do with this. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's that that's the beauty of it But my favorite scenes here though is when Darius reveals that he survived the explosion [SPEAKER_01]: right and he gets out he's the power armor just kind of standing there above him.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's a big question because that was that moment where he said why survive the bombs. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay well that can't have been the apocalypse because I don't think there were just random power armor wandering around. [SPEAKER_01]: So it becomes this piece of it so then you realize oh no that's how he ended up in the brother the brotherhood was there Yeah, blew up right and this is a nice kind of question mark of like well wait what's going on?

[SPEAKER_01]: I also did like by the way that he was hiding in one of the refrigerators Yes, I think that's that's again that that comes up a good amount in the follow-up games where you find someone inside like one of the refrigerators Yeah, which is an old homage to like hiding under [SPEAKER_01]: the ways you would hide from nuclear fallout.

[SPEAKER_00]: So, right, and also, it also gets used in Indian Agents just strangely enough, which is pretty cool. [SPEAKER_01]: It's a very common idea of like, well, the plating you have on your refrigerator is so heavy. [SPEAKER_01]: It could stop at a bomb or a radiation. [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm pretty sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the myth boosters did a thing about this and you were very dead.

[SPEAKER_01]: Someone, someone did something about this about hiding in a refrigerator to stop the disabled from an explosion. [SPEAKER_01]: And yes, [SPEAKER_00]: the the refrigerator would survive and but the problem is you would be shaking around inside of it so violent absolutely not yeah yeah that's why the scene in Indiana Jones is so funny is because that thing just like it's tossed into the air rolls and there's no cushioning inside that thing you would be mush by the time that door open yeah I used to work in packaging [SPEAKER_00]: I know how little effort it takes to ruin the things inside a box, if you don't put enough foam and packaging materials in there, like I did this for a living.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, no, you would be mush. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, so, okay, so let's continue on with the scene. [SPEAKER_00]: Lucy and the scene mentions reclamation day, which is brought up in Fallout 76 a lot. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: So that's interesting. [SPEAKER_00]: This idea that they are under that same ideology that's in concept of like, well, we are supposed to go back out into the wasteland and save everybody.

[SPEAKER_01]: They call it reclamation day. [SPEAKER_01]: I think it's in 76, but it's been around for a while. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, fall out one. [SPEAKER_01]: The whole idea is that when you get back, they won't let you back in because they're not ready to open the doors yet. [SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: It hasn't been this thing.

[SPEAKER_01]: Now, [SPEAKER_01]: It turns out we think we may have going on here where the vault has been opened and then been closed I think that was also in Fallout New Vegas. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, even though the vault in Fallout 1 was open and closed a few times And but most of the inhabitants didn't know that like they kept it.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we are doing that later I figured later Yeah, so vault 101 [SPEAKER_00]: So they play with this too because some of the vaults get messages that say it's time for reclamation day and then they open up, but a lot of the vaults don't. [SPEAKER_00]: So the underlying assumption is that that notification would go out to everyone at the same time, but that's not necessarily the case.

[SPEAKER_00]: And in fact, in a lot of these vaults, there will never be reclamation day. [SPEAKER_00]: They're not ever planning to open up the vaults so it's it's particular to each of the vaults, which which is interesting But that this is when she believes right and then there's questions about like well and the idea that like we're going to restart Civilization as if that's not already trying to happen out on the surface and has been happening for 200 years now And then the question if like it already happened without us and then Max Max just says it didn't work out [SPEAKER_01]: Which is hilarious because all that stuff, you know, connects to him, having been on the surface and his, you know, getting him getting bombed and barely surviving and all of that That becomes a whole thing though, is it's like we're not ready yet and the whole con, I love this whole thing like I'm going to doing the omages when, you know, you're in Fallout 3 and you're learning in the classroom.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's that same. [SPEAKER_01]: That's what this felt like again. [SPEAKER_01]: It's like, well, all this has a purpose. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, what's the purpose? [SPEAKER_00]: purpose, you know, it's our purpose. [SPEAKER_00]: We're, yeah, and in this case we're going to restart civilization.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, so we see shady sands as a whole on the ground. [SPEAKER_00]: Uh, it's the same thing that always happens. [SPEAKER_00]: Max must says that everyone wants to save the world. [SPEAKER_00]: They just disagree on how, which I think is a brilliant line because that sounds very good.

[SPEAKER_00]: That sums up every fallout game, every faction, every individual that you meet, everyone has a different idea about the way this is supposed to happen. [SPEAKER_00]: Lucie says, I wonder if anyone survived, Max Smith says, I did, and playing that he was at this specific location. [SPEAKER_00]: This was their place, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: And as we were starting to get worse here, then we move on to the evening, they find the medical lab. [SPEAKER_00]: I double checked this, Hawthorne Medical Lab does not show up in any of the games. [SPEAKER_00]: I believe this is only 8. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, yeah, there's a few of these things that I didn't go back and double check the first time I watched now I was curious.

[SPEAKER_00]: I was like, does Hawthorne? [SPEAKER_00]: She's not up actual place. [SPEAKER_00]: Is that show up somewhere and I just don't remember it? [SPEAKER_00]: No, it's only in the TV shows. [SPEAKER_00]: This is brand new location, which makes sense because there's a vault under it. [SPEAKER_00]: If this had shown up in one of the games, we probably would have known about that vault because why not have the vault there too.

[SPEAKER_00]: You're making a game. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so it's evening. [SPEAKER_00]: They go into the lab Maximus Warrens that there could be anything in there Lucy goes in The building has power which is immediately suspicious. [SPEAKER_00]: We follow through with Maximus's view He goes into the door and then the other door has a handle printed on it.

[SPEAKER_00]: Which I thought was hilarious [SPEAKER_00]: it's just like a burying yeah it's like that's not a handle and then he falls in back to vault 33 everyone's together uh Betty's talking about resetting vault 32 the song that shows up is what a difference a day makes by dying of washington this hints at how [SPEAKER_00]: It was just a day ago that Norm went in there and everything looked messed up and now all of a sudden, Vault 32's nice and pristine, mostly, not everything's cleaned up, but mostly, there's a few little blood splatters here and there.

[SPEAKER_00]: The overseas terminal is broken. [SPEAKER_00]: I thought that's interesting. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like absolutely busted, not working at all. [SPEAKER_00]: Betty looms over Norm from behind says find anything interesting. [SPEAKER_00]: And the way this is shot is so ominous because Norm's a little guy.

[SPEAKER_00]: But the camera is below his head. [SPEAKER_00]: And Betty, who isn't a particularly tall woman, is like towering over her, almost like a death clock creeping up on him, right? [SPEAKER_00]: Norm says a great job cleaning up. [SPEAKER_00]: double in time, like the hidden bits of meanness, great job cleaning up, both because he knows what it was actually like, but also he would have naturally been able to assume that there were raiders in here and they must have left a mess, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: And then she covers the raiders destroyed so much, but not our spirits, which [SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's obvious that Betty knows. [SPEAKER_01]: Betty knows Norm knows something. [SPEAKER_01]: She just can't quite figure out what it is yet. [SPEAKER_01]: And she's trying to, in my mind, try to figure what to do with Norm, right effect.

[SPEAKER_01]: Like, how do I deal with this problem? [SPEAKER_01]: Because, you know, as we'll discover later, Betty's not, Betty's been around for a bit. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, yes. [SPEAKER_01]: Betty's been around for a bit. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: The best way to put it. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: but what I liked about the scene that was the flashes though of, you know, the blood spatter, like the toaster with the voice sticking out of the memories and the memories of what it looked like previously.

[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: And I thought that was really cool because it was this, because the main question that's is, who could clean this fast? [SPEAKER_00]: Right, right. [SPEAKER_00]: You would have needed an entire army of people to clean up an entire vault like that in one day. [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and so that becomes, that's the question that we're asking in this episode is there's no way this could be cleaned up that quickly without like a monument how how is this in any way shape or form possible right and and Norm doesn't see that but I think we all know that that's what he's thinking it's not just hey it's mysterious that you cleaned everything up it's how did this happen so quickly [SPEAKER_00]: That's the real question.

[SPEAKER_00]: But then Norm asks about where his mother's pit boy is. [SPEAKER_00]: And Betty, I buried her myself, me and your father, which again has this like delbow meaning. [SPEAKER_00]: Like it sounds, you could read that as, we were friends, I loved her, I mourned her death, I was at her funeral, but you could also read this as, [SPEAKER_00]: I was there for you to write like she's gone and I was part of that you know like Exactly, and that's how I read it.

[SPEAKER_01]: No honesty. [SPEAKER_01]: I saw it as a you know I buried your mom. [SPEAKER_01]: I'll bury you too. [SPEAKER_00]: You know cross me for like my better phrase right it feels like the writing in Game of Thrones like season one or two or three where there was so much double meaning in all of the dialogue Yes, and it was written so well.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's what this feels like to me [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I like that, but I very much so great. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, all right. [SPEAKER_00]: So final scene, Lucien Max are in this new vault and this their signs intake caution falling objects. [SPEAKER_00]: I thought that was hilarious. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, like people are just going to fall through the ceiling.

[SPEAKER_00]: So maybe don't stand here. [SPEAKER_00]: And Lucy says we're in the best place in the world. [SPEAKER_00]: We're in a vault, which again continues to show how just how naive she is. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, like, [SPEAKER_01]: Is the vaults hard to the best place in the world necessarily so okay, I mean it's it's better than where they just were that's that becomes but again obviously the next episode will get into that We learn a lot more about this vault This fault has so I love this fault by the way.

[SPEAKER_01]: I think this vault is a great homage to the game The more we learn about it. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, kind of the funnier the funnier the vault gets to me [SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and we'll be getting into that next episode. [SPEAKER_00]: We've been doing two episodes per episodes, but these episodes are getting more dense with details.

[SPEAKER_00]: So we're going to take them one at a time. [SPEAKER_00]: And don't worry, I'm going to be releasing these in order to get these out before season two starts, which means that you'll have this episode. [SPEAKER_00]: You'll have a patron chat next week. [SPEAKER_00]: Then you'll have another episode, another episode, and then probably a sooner, like [SPEAKER_00]: episode of the show in order to catch up right before we get the first episode of season two.

[SPEAKER_00]: So you'll be all caught up by the time season two one launches. [SPEAKER_00]: But John, then we'll wrap this up. [SPEAKER_00]: Any other final thoughts on this episode? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think this is where the show really starts to go to develop for us. [SPEAKER_01]: As we said before, the first few episodes were designed to really set the tone, set the background, get the casual, the casual person interested in it.

[SPEAKER_01]: Now we start to go now. [SPEAKER_01]: We start to see like all this subterfuge really all the reasons why we like at least if I'm with a we all Belize for me. [SPEAKER_01]: I love playing fallout. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I love the fact that the the vaults are super messed up. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I love that life outside the vault Also super messed up.

[SPEAKER_01]: I love it's that's a whole idea is at least post a pocket with the games is like hey [SPEAKER_01]: the apocalypse has happened. [SPEAKER_01]: How different is the world about to be? [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, there's a find out. [SPEAKER_00]: There's mystery. [SPEAKER_00]: There's the unknown around every corner.

[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't matter if it's in a vault or in the wasteland. [SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't matter if it's a new group you meet or new individual. [SPEAKER_00]: You never quite know what to expect and that that's the only thing that you know to expect is that you don't ever know what to expect. [SPEAKER_00]: and there's something just genuinely forever appealing about that, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: So well said, all right, well we're going to take quick break. [SPEAKER_00]: I'll be back to thank our patrons in just a minute. [SPEAKER_00]: So don't go anywhere and John will be joining me for episode six. [SPEAKER_00]: So tune in for that. [SPEAKER_00]: Yep. [SPEAKER_00]: We'll be back.

[SPEAKER_00]: See you guys then. [SPEAKER_01]: Take care. [SPEAKER_00]: Thanks again to John for joining me for this episode. [SPEAKER_00]: It's been so much fun hanging out with him talking follow TV show stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: I'd love to hear your thoughts on this episode and future events in the TV show.

[SPEAKER_00]: This one is from Lee or something, and that's actually the name Lee or something. [SPEAKER_00]: It says, a lore lover's vault of delight.

[SPEAKER_00]: And Lee or something wrote a little poem. [SPEAKER_00]: We have, there once was a host named Tom, whose Fallout lore talk was the bomb. [SPEAKER_00]: Each tale he explores opens new vault door, lords, and my geeky heart's perfectly calm. [SPEAKER_00]: From games I have played to the rest, he dives deep and explains all the best with humor and brains and wasteland refrains.

[SPEAKER_00]: This lore cast out shines all the rest. [SPEAKER_00]: That's so fun. [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for putting that together. [SPEAKER_00]: Also, we've got a patron chat coming up next week, so if you'd like to join us for that, you can sign up on the Patreon. [SPEAKER_00]: It is one of the higher tiers.

[SPEAKER_00]: You'll see all the different things you get for each tier. [SPEAKER_00]: And so that means that episode 6 will be the week after that. [SPEAKER_00]: And then the week after that will be episode 7 and 8 of the TV show kind of crammed. [SPEAKER_00]: I'll drop a bonus episode in that week just to make sure we get through it before season two launches And then we'll get to see the first episode of season two and I will definitely be talking about these because they will be rolling out One episode a week which will give me plenty of time to cover each one on the show So looking forward to that hope you have a wonderful rest of your week and I will see you next time stay safe out there
