[SPEAKER_02]: That's six, seven, eight, August, let's talk about August. [SPEAKER_01]: All right, here we go. [SPEAKER_01]: Hi, everybody. [SPEAKER_01]: Welcome back to Gilmore to Consider with Terran Haley. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm Terran. [SPEAKER_01]: This is Haley. [SPEAKER_02]: Hi, Terran. [SPEAKER_01]: It's the end of August.

[SPEAKER_01]: We are about to walk into August. [SPEAKER_01]: And we wanted to do a little GTC wrap up because normally we would have done that on Tuesday. [SPEAKER_01]: But of course, the news of the documentary came out. [SPEAKER_01]: So we wanted to talk about that and thought we would attend our month.

[SPEAKER_01]: I know. [SPEAKER_01]: So much has happened. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, my gosh. [SPEAKER_01]: I forgot. [SPEAKER_01]: I know. [SPEAKER_02]: We recovered. [SPEAKER_01]: That's what we covered on Tuesday. [SPEAKER_01]: No, it's true. [SPEAKER_01]: So much happened. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I feel like August was just a whirlwind.

[SPEAKER_01]: You know, we talked about the Emily and Richard prequel. [SPEAKER_01]: We talked about money. [SPEAKER_01]: We had Emily Henry on the podcast, which at the time of recording this just aired yesterday. [SPEAKER_01]: So we're not going to talk about any thoughts there per se because [SPEAKER_01]: really have a lot of time for everybody to get in their thoughts.

[SPEAKER_02]: There's not even really like a lot of thoughts of just a lot of love. [SPEAKER_02]: Everyone has been so nice about it and that's really all there is. [SPEAKER_01]: That's true. [SPEAKER_01]: And then of course on Tuesday we talked about the documentary, everything we know, everything we want to see, everything you guys want to see.

[SPEAKER_01]: And so there's kind of a lot to a lot to talk about for the month of August we're going to specifically zero in on money. [SPEAKER_01]: And the Emily and Virtual Prequel because there was a lot of feedback about both those episodes and a lot of [SPEAKER_01]: pretty positive ones, which was great.

[SPEAKER_01]: So we're going to talk about that today, but before we get into it, we did want to let you guys know that with the end of August comes the beginning of September, and what represents September better than Gilmore Girls fall. [SPEAKER_01]: So starting on September 1st, which is Tuesday, we are going to re-release some of our fall favorite.

[SPEAKER_01]: merch. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know saves. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the fall faves. [SPEAKER_01]: The greatest hits of the past. [SPEAKER_01]: So that's going to include the Fogazibo, the fall stamps, and fall sentials. [SPEAKER_01]: So you can chop those on Tuesday at www.mortissade.com slash shop slash shop to get your fall started.

[SPEAKER_02]: Because [SPEAKER_02]: It is the last couple days of like mental summer, summer is going to be around for a second, but like mentally removing on, removing on and devogue as I know a con. [SPEAKER_01]: And it's very exciting because September is one of those months where it feels like we're transitioning out of summer into fall.

[SPEAKER_01]: September just feels like like a deep golden yellow or like a like an orange to me, you know, it's like a little sweet. [SPEAKER_02]: Speaking of yellow, we talk about this in the next episode, [SPEAKER_01]: You did! [SPEAKER_01]: Oh my gosh! [SPEAKER_01]: Where were they? [SPEAKER_02]: They were tucked into a little pocket my makeup bag that I didn't know existed.

[SPEAKER_02]: You've been looking for these for like a year. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, the last time I wore them was in January. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, all year. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm... Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: So that's crazy. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, I'm going to come back in the next episode. [SPEAKER_02]: They're not. [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, the next episode we talk about you don't have them.

[SPEAKER_01]: So coming to you live from the past. [SPEAKER_01]: Coming to you live from the past. [SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, let's get into some of this feedback that we got. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, starting with the money episode, I feel like people really enjoyed that episode because it was very very thoroughly researched on our end.

[SPEAKER_01]: You know, there are some episodes where we just kind of go off the [SPEAKER_01]: Can we even talk about what we think in, you know, we've got it down. [SPEAKER_01]: But this is where we run it down. [SPEAKER_01]: But this is where we run it down. [SPEAKER_01]: But this is where we run it down.

[SPEAKER_02]: But this is where we run it down. [SPEAKER_02]: But this is where we run it down. [SPEAKER_02]: But this is where we run it down. [SPEAKER_01]: But this is where we run it down. [SPEAKER_01]: But this is where we run it down. [SPEAKER_01]: But this is where we run it down. [SPEAKER_01]: But this is where we run it down.

[SPEAKER_01]: But this is where we run it down. [SPEAKER_01]: But this is where we run it down.

[SPEAKER_01]: But this is where we run it down. [SPEAKER_01]: But this is where we run it down. [SPEAKER_01]: But this is where we run it down. [SPEAKER_01]: But this is where we run it down. [SPEAKER_01]: This bestie is anonymous. [SPEAKER_01]: She didn't give us her name.

[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if she wanted to remain anonymous. [SPEAKER_01]: But she has, she is anonymous nonetheless. [SPEAKER_01]: So let's hear from our anonymous bestie about some of the ways the other characters handle money on the show. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god. [SPEAKER_00]: Hi, Tara and Haley.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Gray and I agree to your podcast about money on Gilmore girls. [SPEAKER_00]: And I love like everything that you covered. [SPEAKER_00]: But one thing that would be interesting to talk about is [SPEAKER_00]: The different ways that Rory's boyfriend interacts with money, how they make money, how they spend money, and such.

[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously a lot of the show is talking about the boyfriend, so I understand it's not all about them, but I think it's really interesting that, you know, despite all the way that we say that like, direct and gain are very different from each other. [SPEAKER_00]: They both, I think, treat work and money in a very similar way.

[SPEAKER_00]: Dean obviously worked, I think, like two, maybe three jobs, you know, when he's married Tomenzy, and then just we know, is working like 40, 50 hour weeks at Walmart while he, you know, like, supposed to be going to school. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, they, they butt hurt you a lot, but I think it's the way those two interact with money is really similar, whereas you know, he is portrayed as such a reckless and kind of like [SPEAKER_00]: who doesn't care about like making money.

[SPEAKER_00]: And I think it's really interesting, the way that the three boys that Roy interact with don't interact with money. [SPEAKER_00]: And then you throw Marty into the mix and you have a whole other layer about money and wealth in these men's lives. [SPEAKER_00]: So I would love to hear. [SPEAKER_00]: You're your thought.

[SPEAKER_00]: Hi, Grace. [SPEAKER_00]: Grace. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm so sorry we called you anonymous bestie. [SPEAKER_01]: This transcript said, oh my gosh, hi, Terran Haley. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm great. [SPEAKER_02]: You know, I was like, she just wanted to let us know. [SPEAKER_02]: She was done well. [SPEAKER_02]: I was like, in what context would that be the next thing that she says?

[SPEAKER_02]: I'm great. [SPEAKER_02]: I was like, it's a voicemail. [SPEAKER_02]: Like, hey, how are you? [SPEAKER_02]: Like, I was like, hey, great. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, it's so nice to hear from you. [SPEAKER_01]: This was such an interesting take because it's not something that we zeroed in on, of course.

[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, the spectrum of money on Gilmore Girls runs such a gambit, right? [SPEAKER_01]: Like, it's like, we started with the Gilmore Girls and Laura Lyon Brey and Luke. [SPEAKER_01]: but there's so much more to talk about just because those were the heavy hitters and I love that she's zeroed in on this because it's something that I didn't quite think about when we prepped for this episode earlier than so.

[SPEAKER_02]: It also wasn't something because like honestly we could have gone down every single path of this show totally could have taken so many different directions and this episode could have been seven hours long or seven parts long like maybe we need to do another one in the future because there's like so many different ways maybe like with the side characters because thematically [SPEAKER_02]: It just fits so well into every relationship, but I think it's really interesting with the way friends, as she says.

[SPEAKER_02]: Especially because I feel like it's used in the same way to differentiate them for a more licyc. [SPEAKER_02]: I feel like worry cares less, like worry doesn't care about Dean or Jess not having the money. [SPEAKER_02]: She is more so concerned and like how they make her feel, like actually quite good of her to just more so think about the personal relationship.

[SPEAKER_02]: I think the money aspect of it is more of like testing her relationship with Laura Lye because we get Dean and Jess in the early seasons when she hasn't really departed in any way from Laura Lye's thought process about money and so here are like two [SPEAKER_02]: Hardworking should they be hardworking, in just this case you should be in school, but you know, he's decided he wants to work so more power to him.

[SPEAKER_02]: But with Logan, it's like we're never really zeros in so much on the fact that he's super rich, except when she's annoyed with him at the beginning, and then when she starts to kind of start dating him, it doesn't really seem all that, uh, impactful for her. [SPEAKER_02]: It seems more impactful for a world I. Yeah, it does for fair fair.

[SPEAKER_01]: Which like it's nice to not think about your boyfriend's money. [SPEAKER_01]: It's nice to think about your personal connection. [SPEAKER_01]: But well, here's a thing is I agree with you with an asterisk because yes, of course, for worry. [SPEAKER_01]: And when you're that young and you're experiencing relationships, you're not thinking about money.

[SPEAKER_01]: right now until she got to college and she was exposed to somebody who had a lot of wealth. [SPEAKER_01]: I think that that maybe wasn't on her mind. [SPEAKER_01]: However, I do think that there is a bit of, I don't want to say like a power dynamic between Rory and Dean, Rory and Jess, and even Rory and Marty, but there is a bit of a disconnect when it comes to money because Rory doesn't need to have a job.

[SPEAKER_01]: And that comes from a sense of privilege, which is ultimately rooted in wealth from her grandparents. [SPEAKER_01]: And I think also runs in tandem with Laura, like taking care of Rory and making sure that she doesn't need to work. [SPEAKER_02]: She's never like wanted to. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, she has her card swiping job, but like at the end of the day.

[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah, that's true. [SPEAKER_02]: She does do that. [SPEAKER_02]: She is broke at some point. [SPEAKER_02]: But like, it's true. [SPEAKER_02]: With an asterisk, if you will, that like, she doesn't have to pay for school. [SPEAKER_02]: She doesn't pay for where she lives. [SPEAKER_01]: She just kind of has to like, she doesn't have student loans.

[SPEAKER_02]: She's not dining plan, you know, she's sure. [SPEAKER_02]: She can't do her laundry. [SPEAKER_01]: I forgot about the cards, so I think a job. [SPEAKER_01]: So I maybe take, I maybe take a little bit of a back, but when it comes to high school and dean and Jess, I do agree with Bestie Grace here that like, they do view work.

[SPEAKER_01]: Similarly, in that way, they are willing to take on one job, two jobs to support themselves for Dean eventually when he gets married, wanting to get Lindsay the townhouse and check those boxes off. [SPEAKER_01]: But it's interesting because at the end of the day, yes, Rory has focused on the personal, but she's also focused on the educational aspiration.

[SPEAKER_01]: I was about to say that man for just. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, like with Dean, Dean didn't really have any interest in higher education until Rory and he was like so ready to just like go into the workforce and ultimately he does because he Rory departs his personal life and so [SPEAKER_02]: He doesn't have like an emphasis on education in that same way and they've got heads about it and with Jess Luke's condition when I say that he needed to go to school is because Luke said he did and like Because his guardian and so because he decided he wasn't going to go to school That's why he had Luke parted ways but he values working really hard and like it seems like someone like Jess would not want to work at Walmart like it just

[SPEAKER_02]: Just a Walmart just feel like the opposites of each other and like in terms of what you would work on, like a corporation, but that didn't stop him from like realizing this is like the skill level that he has. [SPEAKER_02]: He can work really hard. [SPEAKER_02]: He can work his way up. [SPEAKER_02]: He can value hard work in that way and get enough money to get things that he wants because he realizes that the girl he's with doesn't have to do any of those things.

[SPEAKER_02]: And I sometimes think he doesn't feel like we're the ever in that respect because he has to work way harder than she does. [SPEAKER_01]: And it's interesting because that never really comes up. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, no, the subject of money doesn't really come up until college. [SPEAKER_01]: Marty, you know, Grace bringing up Marty was so I kind of forgot about him.

[SPEAKER_01]: But I, it takes me back to, I believe it's Jews in Chinese food. [SPEAKER_01]: Where are the watching dogs too? [SPEAKER_01]: And then they go, wow. [SPEAKER_01]: And it's this like huge discrepancy between the life that we're ahead. [SPEAKER_01]: And the social life that she had, [SPEAKER_01]: in her freshman year when she was close with Marty versus now when she's aligned herself with Logan and his crowd that it's just like you know Logan's got her she doesn't need to pay and yeah Marty is like no I want to pay but I guess and I'm not gonna let you pay and I'm not letting you pay because you know [SPEAKER_01]: It was not a good feeling.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, totally. [SPEAKER_02]: Hold him that she liked Logan. [SPEAKER_02]: But going back even sooner than that in written in the stars when they meet Logan, they meet Logan because Marty was a server at one of his parties. [SPEAKER_02]: And like the dynamic between Roy and Logan when they have that little tip in the hallway is she's telling him that you talk to people like their beneath you.

[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that's kind of like the only time that she really investigates his [SPEAKER_02]: Standing versus where she's at because I think with Marty she feels that feeling of like. [SPEAKER_02]: these people are like in a whole different world than we are. [SPEAKER_02]: Like we are in a completely different financial spot than everyone else.

[SPEAKER_02]: She feels like she bonds with Marty in that way. [SPEAKER_02]: And she starts to like Logan in which case she's like, well, you guys, when you we met at my grandparents house, you know, she feels like she's a chameleon and she can like flip back and forth between them and feels kind of okay doing it, totally.

[SPEAKER_02]: Which five is Marty? [SPEAKER_02]: I would, I would feel certain way about it too. [SPEAKER_01]: No, I would too. [SPEAKER_01]: I would definitely feel a certain type of way, but it's just interesting to highlight the gap between Rory and the men that she dates. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, obviously, she doesn't take Marty, but the men that are her love interest because I never thought about money in regards to those relationships and how it can kind of.

[SPEAKER_01]: show like poke holes in in their connection. [SPEAKER_01]: Not that money is everything, but like there is something to be said though about like having an understanding of like I need to make this money, you know, and I think that that is where Dean and worry are like ships passing in the night.

[SPEAKER_01]: Jess is a little more like Laura lie and that he like money is freedom for him and maybe also like Luke and so that's why, you know, he's working at Walmart and working at Luke's and not going to school. [SPEAKER_01]: It's like that's kind of the Laura lie in him a little bit. [SPEAKER_01]: He's a survivor and I don't think we're never needed to know what it was like to survive in and that's because of Laura lie and ultimately Emily and Richard.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, because I ultimately feel like going back to like the first point that I made, the relationship with money is always kind of coming back to Laura Lie. [SPEAKER_02]: Like Laura Lie's relationship with money because Rory has a very disconnected relationship. [SPEAKER_02]: I feel like because she's always been provided for that it feels like she doesn't really quite as plainly as a character like Laura Lie might.

[SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, I thought that was really interesting. [SPEAKER_01]: I would also like to explore maybe in a different episode alongside this topic, the relationship that because we talked about Luke and his money, but we didn't really talk about Christ. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, we kind of talked about Christiver.

[SPEAKER_01]: We didn't talk about Jason Max. [SPEAKER_01]: How that kind of goes ahead with Laura Lai. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, boy money. [SPEAKER_02]: Boy money versus girl money. [SPEAKER_02]: Very different, very different. [SPEAKER_01]: But thank you, Grace, for calling in because this was really interesting and really great stuff.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we definitely also had between our YouTube comments and our comments on Instagram and our voicemails. [SPEAKER_01]: We had a lot of people calling with a lot of different opinions about old money versus new money when it came to the Huntsburgers in the Gilmores. [SPEAKER_01]: Because I do really... Yeah, because I do think that there were a lot of people who were like, yeah, I know that for sure what you were saying about the Gilmores being old money and the Huntsburgers being new money.

[SPEAKER_01]: But there was someone who called in about the feeling like because of Elias Huntsburgers standing in the life and death brigade that we kind of will talk about in our next episode. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, by the 1950s, him being kind of this like prominent member of Secret Society, that Richard wasn't really a part of, that we know of, that we know of, that was like not a part of the plot, which we talk about again in the next episode.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: That it could have been like in both of them have old money, but they come from two different places. [SPEAKER_01]: We kind of talked about this on a marvelous time. [SPEAKER_01]: That it's like, there's money from farming. [SPEAKER_01]: There's money from like industrial.

[SPEAKER_01]: There's money from entertainment. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And as I've gotten into reading the great, uh, great big business. [SPEAKER_02]: I was going to say it feels like the lives family. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, it's like, yeah, money and older money. [SPEAKER_02]: Like, came to the country with money.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like, that old Mayflower money versus, like, industrious money. [SPEAKER_02]: That's what it is in the United States. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, in the 1800s. [SPEAKER_02]: Like, I'm watching the guilty day right now. [SPEAKER_02]: And like, anyone who made their money and, like, the 1800s is considered new.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like, they are new and they don't like them. [SPEAKER_02]: Like, just for the sheer fact that their money, even if they have more money, that their money is new. [SPEAKER_02]: And so I think I see it as like eyes versus like Mayflower if you've read great big beautiful life. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, for sure.

[SPEAKER_01]: But in that regard, there is a part of me that could also see Shira being like, well, there's your money and then there's our money because like she values the old money and I thought she values the amount. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, of course. [SPEAKER_01]: I could see it going both ways. [SPEAKER_01]: It's all of this is to say a lot of people make it Or things for it to go both ways and I was like, I could get on board with you.

[SPEAKER_01]: They're one of these. [SPEAKER_02]: I think it's just because I was like, Huntsburgers are the Ives. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, well, media mogul, you know, when you're a media mogul, media was, I mean, so different. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Back in the day. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, so you assume that money like that comes from it's something you are unless you're like the town cryer, you know?

[SPEAKER_01]: Just announced. [SPEAKER_02]: And who is to say? [SPEAKER_01]: Who's to say that? [SPEAKER_01]: The Burgers weren't crying out the street. [SPEAKER_01]: They might have been. [SPEAKER_01]: But let's move on to the Emily and Richard Prequoke, because we had a lot of feedback about that. [SPEAKER_01]: A lot of people had a lot of things to say, and I just wanted to pull it a couple of different threads.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Just to start, one person mentioned, Suede, Emily's friend, Suede, who passes away. [SPEAKER_01]: in season four. [SPEAKER_01]: And I can't remember if she was also a Smith girl, but I want to say that the immigrants were really long time. [SPEAKER_02]: So the only thing I remember at Sweetie is the made up story for the Emily gives to Laura lie and like how insensitive that I'm having to like make up this story about how my friend got her name after she has passed.

[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't remember what her backstory was [SPEAKER_02]: went to get candy for her family. [SPEAKER_02]: She did. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And sweetie, it just says that sweetie was an old friend. [SPEAKER_01]: One of my oldest friends. [SPEAKER_02]: So I would love to have a sweetie at Smith.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, maybe see how she actually got her nickname, sweetie, or maybe sweetie is like her childhood friend. [SPEAKER_01]: They don't go to the same school. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I would love that. [SPEAKER_02]: I would love like her world to like a link out. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, because our lesser commented on is TikTok just because like we we don't post there as often in our like following isn't as big there, but some a lot of people commented on that one saying that they weren't sure about a prequel being focused on Emily because we don't know much about her.

[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, maybe it's a playground, but that's that's amazing. [SPEAKER_02]: They're like not knowing anything about her. [SPEAKER_02]: It's so fantastic because we can't mess anything up. [SPEAKER_01]: There are a few things we can mess up. [SPEAKER_02]: You want to make sure that you remain.

[SPEAKER_01]: No, of course, do have. [SPEAKER_02]: If they change the color of that dress, if they made like a pink dress instead of blue dress, I'm turning it off and boycotting. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm canceling this, like totally my subscription to average streaming. [SPEAKER_02]: But everything else, it's just kind of fair game.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like, give her a sister. [SPEAKER_02]: Maybe she has a brother that she never mentioned. [SPEAKER_02]: Just as long as it's things that she did mention in the show, the rest of it, it's like a creative workshop. [SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean? [SPEAKER_02]: It's like you can do anything you want to do.

[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's what's so exciting about it. [SPEAKER_02]: Someone said we should call out the Gilmours and I was like, but there's only one Gilmour. [SPEAKER_02]: There's an Emily. [SPEAKER_02]: We don't know her. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it would have to be something else. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there were also a lot of opinions thrown around about like Emily POV versus dual POV and someone brought something very interesting to the table, which I didn't mention in the episode where we talked about this that like I think that if Amy and Dan were to pull the trigger on doing something like this, Amy is a female POV girl.

[SPEAKER_01]: Like I do really think it's about even though [SPEAKER_02]: It's about the girl. [SPEAKER_02]: It's about the the strong female lead. [SPEAKER_02]: I think that when I say dual pv, it's not only focused on Emily. [SPEAKER_01]: I think that's how it starts though, and then it expands. [SPEAKER_01]: It's kind of a sad.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: It's more so that like we get her, her world view is the most important part in the same way, like, nasal, like, midge is the titular character. [SPEAKER_02]: but some of my favorite scenes are between Abe and someone else. [SPEAKER_02]: And so I think that's more of what I mean when I say dual peevee is that like, everyone else's POV is the second POV and hers is the first one.

[SPEAKER_02]: And so like it's not like dual in the sense that though we'll switch to Richard in the most which goes back to Emily in the most which was right. [SPEAKER_02]: It's just I need the full rounded world with a heavy emphasis on Emily, which is why it's called Emily in the Tri-Stay area. [SPEAKER_02]: Perfect.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: love that title, love it. [SPEAKER_01]: A lot of people, there was a lot of discourse in the comments, in the voicemails, about panel and lot, and the history there. [SPEAKER_01]: This was a pretty common take, I saw this more than once, again, in the voicemails and in the comments, that panel and and Richard grew up together.

[SPEAKER_01]: and that they were always like predestined to be together. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh. [SPEAKER_01]: So it's almost like panelan and Richard were lower line Christopher. [SPEAKER_01]: They were like, like, it was like two each other. [SPEAKER_01]: They were promised to each other and then Emily came along.

[SPEAKER_01]: We, that makes a lot of sense. [SPEAKER_01]: I love that. [SPEAKER_01]: Makes it makes sense that he's having lunch with her every year. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, because they've known each other forever. [SPEAKER_02]: They've known each other for their whole lives. [SPEAKER_02]: It doesn't make it better, but it makes more I actually think it does.

[SPEAKER_01]: I think it makes it, well, more understandable. [SPEAKER_01]: It makes it kind of like, that's you shouldn't have lied about it. [SPEAKER_02]: That's like, period. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: But it makes it more understandable that it's like, oh, we're not having clan destiny meetings because they're still love here.

[SPEAKER_01]: There's love here in the sense that like we grew up together. [SPEAKER_01]: We were promised to each other and like I was the one, Richard, who, [SPEAKER_01]: like broke that promise and so like she's still my friend at the end of the day like she still knows me in a way that is platonic for me because Emily is his number one but like you know what I mean it makes it more understandable I would say because like at the end of the day [SPEAKER_02]: Pendulence husband didn't know and Emily didn't know so there's like this element to it that like it feels clandestine because it feels a visit a visit affairs if you will even if it's not but I do just love adding that to the backstory of the stories a whole of like Pendulence and Richard are like promised like you know they've they've been paired together their whole life and then here comes in little miss Emily Richard

[SPEAKER_02]: Emily Richard. [SPEAKER_02]: That's not what I meant to say. [SPEAKER_02]: I didn't mean to say Emily. [SPEAKER_01]: That's why they were so close. [SPEAKER_01]: Emily Richard Richard Gilmore. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm sure that could be her last name. [SPEAKER_02]: Why not? [SPEAKER_02]: She feels destined to be with them because her last name is Richard.

[SPEAKER_02]: I would like to throw in a new name for an Emily Gilmore, a young Emily Gilmore. [SPEAKER_02]: And I say that. [SPEAKER_02]: And as I'm thinking, I'm like, I don't actually remember what her name is. [SPEAKER_02]: But have you been watching Sterling Point on Amazon? [SPEAKER_02]: No. [SPEAKER_02]: there is an actress who plays like the main girl.

[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that she might play her name's Ella Rubin. [SPEAKER_02]: She plays, I know Ella. [SPEAKER_02]: That's so funny. [SPEAKER_02]: You know Ella? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, oh my god. [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't know she was the lead in the show. [SPEAKER_01]: That's so funny. [SPEAKER_01]: She did a show with Ellen.

[SPEAKER_01]: No way. [SPEAKER_01]: Ella is awesome. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Wait, that's so funny. [SPEAKER_01]: She's like the denominator right now. [SPEAKER_01]: If she says Ella Rubin, I'm going to die. [SPEAKER_01]: Um love Ella. [SPEAKER_02]: I believe that the first time she such a sweet being in this show she's like fantastic and she has this kind of like awkward But varying during banter sometimes and I feel like she could capture Emily Gilmore quite well [SPEAKER_02]: I could see that.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Wow. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm so happy for her. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh my gosh. [SPEAKER_01]: I can't hear it's so long. [SPEAKER_02]: I can't believe we haven't talked about this. [SPEAKER_02]: You would love this show. [SPEAKER_02]: It's so fascinating.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like it's about this girl who lives with her twin brother and her father. [SPEAKER_02]: Her mom has passed and they are not in communication with her mom's family at all. [SPEAKER_02]: But then her mom's grandfather or her grandfather and her mom's side. [SPEAKER_02]: So her mom's dad dies.

[SPEAKER_02]: And they are left things in his will and he also wrote them letters in uh he owned land in Canada and left it to them. [SPEAKER_02]: And so she steals the letter, she goes up to her dad's safe to steal the letter. [SPEAKER_02]: only to find dozens of letters that her grandfather has been sending her, even though her father has said he didn't want any communication with you.

[SPEAKER_02]: He didn't, like, they were done, they cut us off. [SPEAKER_02]: And so she gets all these letters realizing that her grandfather has always tried to get in touch with her. [SPEAKER_02]: And then the letter that her grandfather wrote to her before he died said find her [SPEAKER_02]: And so she goes to this place in Canada where he's from and she discovers like his cottage and all these people who live there and I don't want to tell you what happens, but kind of at the end of the episode you're kind of like, wait, who are we supposed to be finding?

[SPEAKER_02]: And you meet all these people who are connected to her past, or you meet people that she knows from school, who just happened to be like summary there. [SPEAKER_02]: It's really good. [SPEAKER_02]: It's a very, very mysterious, but very wholesome. [SPEAKER_02]: And at the least of the part of that I'm like three episodes in, but I think that's awesome.

[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I should. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and she's just so happy for her. [SPEAKER_01]: She's so great. [SPEAKER_01]: She did a show called, um, [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, gosh, the name is escaping me right now. [SPEAKER_01]: It was after. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, her name escaped me. [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, full circle rose rose something.

[SPEAKER_01]: The rose tattoo. [SPEAKER_01]: The rose tattoo was a play. [SPEAKER_01]: She it was Marisa Tome was in it. [SPEAKER_01]: I want to say, maybe Ella played a young Marisa Tome. [SPEAKER_01]: I was about to say, did she that would be perfect? [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe, yeah, yeah, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And Ella and Ellen, I think, shared a dressing room.

[SPEAKER_01]: And so I think, I don't know, this is so crazy. [SPEAKER_01]: I see, she is one of the girls. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, she knows girl personally. [SPEAKER_01]: I do. [SPEAKER_01]: She is so awesome. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm so happy she's having a moment right now. [SPEAKER_01]: She really is. [SPEAKER_01]: She is the moment because she's so talented.

[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, I think she would be, I'd be very interested to see her being young Emily. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, something. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh my gosh because I think that her an Emily Bader could play sisters. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, for sure I could see that it's just that. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, just that look that they both have back to the Penal and lot of it all something that as you were talking about her husband I was like, oh, that's right Richard says to Emily like she didn't tell Steven.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's like do we know Steven? [SPEAKER_01]: Do we know Steven is also [SPEAKER_01]: Of course we know Steven, why not throw him in there? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because he says it like she didn't tell Steven, it's like Emily must know Steven, you know, we're no up him and I wonder what role he plays in all of this.

[SPEAKER_02]: That's just a name that you just like toss out unless you're sure. [SPEAKER_02]: Interesting. [SPEAKER_02]: I need the backstory, and that's what I used to get. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so those were all of the like kind of deliciously hot takes or contributions that I wanted to talk about today because I we had some really heavy hitters this this month.

[SPEAKER_01]: I know the most popular episode was the money episode and I think that the prequel one will get up there. [SPEAKER_01]: It's just because the money episode. [SPEAKER_02]: No, was the prequel up the hood first, was the money of the first money first, because money has been out a little bit longer than prequel has, but they're just two episodes that everyone loved, which I was really excited about because I think those were two episodes that I have been really looking forward to.

[SPEAKER_02]: Honestly, this was a whole month of episodes I've been really looking forward to. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, for sure, for sure, for sure, for sure, for sure, for sure, for sure, for sure, for sure, for sure, for sure, for sure, for sure. [SPEAKER_02]: And then the documentary, which we didn't know.

[SPEAKER_01]: No matter who it was to cry, it's exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: We didn't have an opportunity to look forward to it, because it just kind of fell in our laps. [SPEAKER_01]: One thing I do want to talk about, that wasn't necessarily part of August, but was so close to the end of July beginning of August.

[SPEAKER_01]: That, like, I just kind of want to throw in at the end, our slumber party's episode, which we, of course, recorded while we were together. [SPEAKER_01]: There were a couple of people were like, oh, you guys totally didn't talk about this. [SPEAKER_01]: One of which was not mentioned until I stumbled upon it.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, I can't believe that I didn't mention this. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh my gosh, we didn't. [SPEAKER_01]: No, we didn't talk about it at all. [SPEAKER_01]: There's so many season two episodes that I just like skipped past it [SPEAKER_02]: I can't believe that we didn't think the Cheshire cat.

[SPEAKER_01]: The Cheshire cat, well, in like the two of them sitting there that is so asleep over episode. [SPEAKER_01]: And of course, people mentioned Gilmourkel's only. [SPEAKER_01]: They also mentioned the episode where Lucy and Olivia in season seven go to worry is very sleepover. [SPEAKER_02]: Very sleepover.

[SPEAKER_01]: We don't really, you know, season seven doesn't feel super cozy, but, you know, [SPEAKER_02]: I will say as far as sleepovers go, like dying your hair, crying about your future, hanging out at your friend's house. [SPEAKER_02]: That's exactly a sleepover, so. [SPEAKER_01]: And also speaking of season seven, the episode where Jackson spends the night at lower lies.

[SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Very sleepover. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Is that the one where he breaks your dollhouse? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Doesn't end well, but some sleepovers don't. [SPEAKER_02]: You know, some sleepovers get broken up.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's true. [SPEAKER_01]: And a lot of people said the ring coat and recipes was a sleepover. [SPEAKER_01]: In what way? [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, the in, the in. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry. [SPEAKER_01]: I was like in every way. [SPEAKER_02]: They're all spending the night at the, I thought we meant the in.

[SPEAKER_02]: I like that's all I thought. [SPEAKER_02]: I was like, no, that's not what is, that's what we're clasping a sleepover girls. [SPEAKER_02]: No, I agree to a certain extent. [SPEAKER_02]: It's also like they're, they're staying at the in for free. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: If the road trip to Harvard is a sleepover, [SPEAKER_01]: Well, the road trip to Harvard is sleep over vibes because it's like you and your best friend going on a road trip and like having a sleep over.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: At this hotel together. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And I guess I would put that on the list. [SPEAKER_01]: Everything else, I'm a little like, there are sleep over moments, but I don't know that. [SPEAKER_01]: It's kind of the same way I felt about to live in the diorama.

[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I like the vibes between worry and lane and Paris, what I consider the episode as a whole feeling like slumber party. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: It's got vibes. [SPEAKER_01]: It's got moments. [SPEAKER_02]: It's got scenes. [SPEAKER_02]: The whole episode is more so about the took-a-mouse.

[SPEAKER_02]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_02]: But I think that when it comes to raincoats and recipes, that one has sleep-of-a-rives because like, they're playing Yatsy, they're wearing robes. [SPEAKER_02]: They're in the raincoats. [SPEAKER_02]: They're in the raincoats. [SPEAKER_02]: You know? [SPEAKER_02]: Someone shows up voice shows up on an ad to be theirs.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, me too. [SPEAKER_01]: I wanted to group that in with our little August because it was on it aired on July 28. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so I was like No, I I feel like we've had some really good episodes lately.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like I've had it good time in the podcast as of late What a fun time we've been having [SPEAKER_02]: I love every episode, but there's just it's just sometimes coming and talking about like things that I'm really excited about which like having done this for four and a half years finding things that are still super exciting to talk about It's a high thing.

[SPEAKER_02]: It is surprising. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but yeah, and we've got so many fun topics coming up [SPEAKER_01]: We do. [SPEAKER_01]: And just to give you guys a little preview, we're going to be talking about, yeah, a little fall preview for September. [SPEAKER_01]: We're going to be talking about working relationships for Labor Day, guest stars on Gilmore girls.

[SPEAKER_01]: We've been teasing this for a while, but scenes that should have won Lauren Graham, or at least gotten her nominated for an Emmy Award. [SPEAKER_01]: One, she should have won. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Of course, we are talking to Kelly Bishop in a couple of weeks and that will air on the podcast.

[SPEAKER_01]: We do make that clear in next week's episode, but we're recording this after we recorded next week's episode. [SPEAKER_01]: Of course, our how to have a Gilmore Girls fall episode, which I'm really excited about this here. [SPEAKER_01]: And we're going to be having cheese gal for anybody who's for me, yeah, yeah, we're going to be having her on the podcast.

[SPEAKER_01]: We get to record that episode tomorrow. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm very excited to meet her, which kind of goes hand in hand with how to have a Gilmore girls fall. [SPEAKER_01]: Because I think that hosting any sort of party with little eats and little bites and making your home. [SPEAKER_01]: She's very, very good at like home making.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yes. [SPEAKER_02]: Whether it's like a party that you're having with your friends or a solo party, like in just having some like fancy snacks, I feel like that's so that's such a Gilmargo's rewatch vibe that I totally agree. [SPEAKER_01]: I want to enjoy. [SPEAKER_02]: Also going to have B.K.

[SPEAKER_02]: Boris and back on the podcast talk. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I've been tidings this month. [SPEAKER_02]: It's it's a big September. [SPEAKER_01]: It goes September and we're actually rounding it out with, you know, the Gilmargo's anniversary celebration that we do every year. [SPEAKER_01]: We're going to do the top 26 lines on [SPEAKER_01]: I'm nervous.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's going to be very interesting. [SPEAKER_02]: I can't wait to hear you in a moment away, but we will ask all that's opinion. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh my gosh, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: It's interesting because August was also one of those months where it was like, there are five Mondays Sundays in August and similarly with September, that is the case.

[SPEAKER_01]: Like we have five weeks instead of four, you know, sometimes it can usually come on this like about four weeks. [SPEAKER_01]: Um, but the way that it falls, it's like we have five two days in September because of temperatures on the Tuesday. [SPEAKER_02]: We thank you universe. [SPEAKER_02]: Thank you for offering this to us for Gilmore girl season for the first month of Gilmore girl season.

[SPEAKER_02]: That feels like what an honor. [SPEAKER_02]: What a what a joy. [SPEAKER_02]: What a fun time. [SPEAKER_02]: Wow. [SPEAKER_02]: Love that. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the same thing happens in December, which is interesting. [SPEAKER_01]: Mmm. [SPEAKER_02]: Is that the best month of the year? [SPEAKER_01]: For the month.

[SPEAKER_01]: Me, princess? [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: It's good. [SPEAKER_01]: Me, you. [SPEAKER_01]: And Jesus. [SPEAKER_01]: Anyway. [SPEAKER_01]: Next week's episode. [SPEAKER_01]: To kick off September with our back to school episode, we'll be all about secret societies. [SPEAKER_01]: And we'll have more to say on that in the next episode.
