[SPEAKER_00]: Five, six, seven, eight October. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's talk about October and September. [SPEAKER_00]: And September, let's have a little midfall check in. [SPEAKER_00]: Here we go. [SPEAKER_00]: Hi, everybody. [SPEAKER_00]: Welcome back to Gilmour to Consider with Terran Haley. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm Terran.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is Haley. [SPEAKER_01]: Hi, Haley. [SPEAKER_01]: Hi, Terran. [SPEAKER_00]: We're doing a little mid fall round up. [SPEAKER_00]: Don't want to confuse you guys. [SPEAKER_00]: We're not doing voicemails for this round up. [SPEAKER_00]: It's not a Gilmour to consider voicemail segment.
[SPEAKER_00]: But it is a little bit of like a mid fall round up because we haven't had a little like end of the month check in like we normally do at all this fall. [SPEAKER_01]: There was more to consider from what we have already said, if you will. [SPEAKER_01]: And because all that's happened, there's been a lot that has happened this fall for us.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, we started September off with secret societies, and then we went into working relationships, guest stars, Lauren Grimm's Emmy, we did the Kelly Bishop interview, how to have an analog on them. [SPEAKER_00]: the cheese gal rewatch menu and the top 26 lines on Gilmourls. [SPEAKER_00]: All of that was just September.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's crazy. [SPEAKER_00]: That's crazy. [SPEAKER_00]: And then we talked about Brie Gilmourne, her birthday, her career trajectory and how realistic that was with Emon. [SPEAKER_00]: and then we did our rankings revisited and we haven't aired these episodes by the time we're recording this one but we did a weddings revisited leading up to my wedding, which at this point has already happened and holy moly I can't believe that and stars Halloween which we just released on Tuesday but we just recorded five minutes ago so yeah we if you're watching us and you do you might recognize these outfits that we're wearing [SPEAKER_01]: From Tuesday because it is five minutes later.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, that was fun. [SPEAKER_01]: That was yeah It got a little rocky there for a second because my because my creative brain turned off Yeah, I was like I don't know if we're gonna be able to do this and then we got back on course We got my course tear came up with an idea it sparked more ideas and that's what you want It felt like a little writer's room between the two of us was bad two But it was a second where I was like we have to step away for a second and come back and like I had fresh eyes And I was like okay, we can do this.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we did but going back to [SPEAKER_00]: September we talked about secret societies work relationships and they feel like we said everything We needed to say there. [SPEAKER_00]: I've said it all. [SPEAKER_00]: I said it all if you didn't listen go back because you can hear me say it But going back to the guest house episode.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think it was one of our YouTube commenters was like [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, you know, drawing attention to Madeline Zima, who we were talking about being not really a guest star, but she was in the puffs episode, and she also played the youngest daughter on the nanny, but she was in a Cinderella story as one of the stepsisters, and this person was like, with Chad Michael Murray, and it, like, kind of sparked this idea in me that I was like, I wonder if at some point we should do like a crossovers.
[SPEAKER_00]: like a media crossovers episode interesting of like people because someone else brought up the fact deal more girls exactly like six degrees to go more girls like six degrees to Kevin Bacon because you know people love to play that game and I feel like the same could be said about [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: He was the madman. [SPEAKER_00]: He was the madman. [SPEAKER_00]: So I was like, oh, it's kind of sparked this idea of like we should do an episode like that. [SPEAKER_00]: But that was really fun. [SPEAKER_00]: It was really cool to see where people started and where they are now. [SPEAKER_00]: I think especially because Jane Lynch is still in the Gilmore Girls universe or the Valentino.
[SPEAKER_00]: The Paladino universe. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: That would be really fun to kind of explore all of the Chris Cross-Cross Chester. [SPEAKER_00]: No. [SPEAKER_01]: These will still bring up Chester here. [SPEAKER_01]: Not here, it's a fear. [SPEAKER_01]: If you're with us on Patreon watching Meazal, I need to know your chest or thoughts, because I've gotten nothing.
[SPEAKER_01]: None. [SPEAKER_00]: Not a single thought. [SPEAKER_00]: Not a single thought. [SPEAKER_00]: But then, of course, we went on to interview the one and only Kelly Bishop, which we released after our episode about Lauren Graham's. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, what she should have gotten and had a conversation about how we should talk about how Gilmore rolls didn't, like, as a holding, I know, a lot of the nods that it should have, but drama will have more to say on that, maybe next year.
[SPEAKER_00]: But with Kelly, it was just so lovely. [SPEAKER_01]: I still can't believe it. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, I, I, there's a lot of people that I've seen recently in my life that, like, I saw right before I left, because I was, like, in Florida right before, [SPEAKER_01]: I went to New York and then now I'm back that they're all like oh my gosh How was Kelly Bishop?
[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like oh my gosh I get to keep reliving like telling people about this and I've done it probably like five times just this week and so like every time I'm every time I'm like [SPEAKER_01]: Like, I get to tell someone new about it, just all of the people that I've gotten to see recently, and every time I tell it, I'm like, I cannot believe we talked to her.
[SPEAKER_01]: When we were in Ann Arbor, I kept you in like pack up the pod, shutting down business, like, how's it get better? [SPEAKER_01]: Which, like, of course, are manifesting. [SPEAKER_01]: Amy, I'm more in like what and Dan can never forget Dan. [SPEAKER_01]: Never forget Dan Paladino, but there's just, but it just felt like okay, what, what more, what, what can we do now that it just, I know, I know, but hopefully it's just like, you know, [SPEAKER_01]: all up from here all up from here and if it was all down from here it would also be good.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean? [SPEAKER_01]: It could it could go either way. [SPEAKER_01]: Hopefully it's not down. [SPEAKER_01]: Hopefully it is up or if it just stayed the same. [SPEAKER_01]: I could go any of the ways that it went would be great. [SPEAKER_01]: We'll say no to that. [SPEAKER_01]: I did get ten to nine of us from the needle pointing my Kelly Bishop campus.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's almost it's almost better now. [SPEAKER_01]: I love that. [SPEAKER_00]: I love that. [SPEAKER_01]: Thumbs doing good my friends. [SPEAKER_01]: I know that all of you were waiting for that round-up update. [SPEAKER_00]: We're almost there. [SPEAKER_00]: We're almost back to 100%. [SPEAKER_00]: How is your analog on him going?
[SPEAKER_01]: My analog on him, can I be really honest? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's not analog enough. [SPEAKER_00]: Listen, it's hard, you know, it's hard to be to like really lean into the analog when we do what we do. [SPEAKER_00]: Right? [SPEAKER_01]: That really is the element of it. [SPEAKER_01]: I think that I have done better than expected because of how busy I've been with the podcast and just travel and things that naturally work things are not very analog for the two of us, but in my outside of work, I think, I've been okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: I spend a long time designing the canvas that I made for you. [SPEAKER_01]: So I was on my iPad, but I wasn't scrolling, doing a creative hobby, and I was totally audiobooks. [SPEAKER_01]: It was on a screen technically, but [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not gonna lie. [SPEAKER_01]: I have been scrolling a lot lately.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's hard. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a hard habit to break. [SPEAKER_00]: I think analog autumn is, you know, aspirational and hopefully foundational for an analog lifestyle. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, not going to be perfect. [SPEAKER_01]: I did way better over the summer. [SPEAKER_01]: There was just something about summer that was so much easier.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I think in part because I've not been bringing my brick with me everywhere because when I have my brick, [SPEAKER_01]: close it is so nice. [SPEAKER_01]: And the thing is is you can break it from anywhere. [SPEAKER_01]: You don't have to break it. [SPEAKER_00]: You don't have to break it.
[SPEAKER_01]: But you have to physically have the brick to unbreak it. [SPEAKER_01]: And there's sometimes where it's like I actually have to because I have to post something for work. [SPEAKER_01]: I have to check something for work. [SPEAKER_01]: Like I have this this is a work thing. [SPEAKER_01]: And so then like that that doesn't work for me.
[SPEAKER_01]: But my analog autumn could be going better. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, of course, saying there's always room for improvement. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but like, it is getting, I will say it is getting better though. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm starting to read a lot more now that my thumb's doing better. [SPEAKER_01]: I need a pointing again.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think I'm on the up and up. [SPEAKER_00]: I think that it's really just about an awareness. [SPEAKER_00]: I, it's been a mixed bag. [SPEAKER_00]: Like I have days where I'm just very intentional about, for me, it's not scrolling, right? [SPEAKER_00]: So it's like filling my time with writing, filling it with, of course, right now.
[SPEAKER_00]: We're in a situation where like the last couple of days, but as we're recording this, the last couple of weeks. [SPEAKER_00]: that I've been scrolling. [SPEAKER_00]: It's less about mindless scrolling and it's been about me looking for like an outfit to wear to my rehearsal dinner. [SPEAKER_00]: Scrolling on Facebook marketplace to find likely handles for, you know, the center pieces.
[SPEAKER_00]: Stuff like that that I feel like I've been chronically online in a way to to make sure that my wedding has all of the necessary things that [SPEAKER_00]: that once the wedding has been brought to completion, that I will be able to disconnect a little bit more than I initially was, or set out to do this fall, because I've had to be kind of not chronically online, but chronically in communication, having my phone, and I want to kind of take a step away.
[SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, so I think it's touching go. [SPEAKER_00]: It's, I have my phone out when I'm doing my cross repuzzle in the evening or my Sudoku and Brett will be like, go to bed, stop looking at your screen. [SPEAKER_00]: then I feel guilty because I'm like, oh, yeah, I shouldn't be looking at this.
[SPEAKER_00]: But I'm not really scrolling. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm doing a, I'm doing like a Sudoku puzzle before I go to bed. [SPEAKER_00]: But it is on a screen. [SPEAKER_00]: So I'm trying to like, I'm trying to be very intentional about it. [SPEAKER_00]: And I think that that's doing your best sometimes is like just having the awareness in and of itself is like, [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, yeah, and I think that it's a good time to restart because it's the end of October and November has the word no at the beginning So it's like no scroll number no self-fimber like no social Vember like I feel like there's a there's a reset that you can do in November So a shorter month by one day, you know and November has Thanksgiving at least in the U.S. to have family time So I think that there is a time in a place for it and October was actually the place for my phone
[SPEAKER_01]: I needed her. [SPEAKER_00]: I got it. [SPEAKER_00]: I got it as someone planning a wedding. [SPEAKER_00]: It's just like I've had to be on my phone a lot more than I would like to be, but that's okay. [SPEAKER_00]: That's okay. [SPEAKER_00]: That's okay. [SPEAKER_00]: It's just a season, you know?
[SPEAKER_01]: But I do have my analog hobby still. [SPEAKER_01]: Same. [SPEAKER_01]: It's not like I've let them go. [SPEAKER_00]: I just didn't do that. [SPEAKER_00]: One of the things if you're with us on YouTube, I had it. [SPEAKER_00]: I have one of them here, but I designed while we were in Ann Arbor a like there was a patch that said hot girls have granny hobbies Yeah, with a little bow and so I I made that I've been carrying it around with my needle pointed it and then I have this little pink bag that has like a matching [SPEAKER_00]: bow in a different color to the bag for all of my kutramons for needle pointing.
[SPEAKER_00]: So that's been really nice. [SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, I just think that as many things as we can do to kind of like keep that awareness and also promote that kind of lifestyle by making something like like an analog bag. [SPEAKER_00]: I think is just going to continue to promote. [SPEAKER_00]: That kind of behavior.
[SPEAKER_01]: I won't pick it up. [SPEAKER_01]: My analog bag is sitting next to me. [SPEAKER_01]: She's got quite a few things in it. [SPEAKER_01]: So let the dilly dolly sit there. [SPEAKER_01]: She can dilly dilly dolly down there. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think and like if you don't want also if you don't want to don't No, I'm forcing you to.
[SPEAKER_00]: I just think it's we had this conversation with Kenzie about like how being chronically online can really Ultra like your brain chemistry in the way that you and your perspective and I think that just for me I've been wanting to decompress as much as possible. [SPEAKER_00]: So it's just so way to encourage people [SPEAKER_00]: What I will say is that, oh my gosh, I don't even know if I told you about this.
[SPEAKER_00]: So we did our analog on a episode and we posted a real, and it's so interesting that like depending on what social media platform you end up on, you get like a different crowd, a different audience that's engaging with your stuff. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So one of our reels about it about how communication in Star's Hollow was so different than it would have been today because we, like they didn't, they weren't able to immediately communicate with my friends.
[SPEAKER_00]: Truly, Dean, one of the abused find my friends and we posted that real and it ended up on Facebook and the comments on Facebook were killing me. [SPEAKER_00]: because it was all people being like, yeah, that was normal in the year 2000. [SPEAKER_00]: You're too young to remember, but there weren't cell phones around.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, it was, so it was the Facebook crowd. [SPEAKER_01]: I was like, they were so close to the point. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, they were so close to the point. [SPEAKER_01]: They were so close to the point. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: It would have bit them if they got it. [SPEAKER_01]: It would have been better.
[SPEAKER_01]: It would have been better. [SPEAKER_00]: But people in the comments kind of defending us being like, that's literally, they didn't say it wasn't normal. [SPEAKER_00]: They're saying that like, that's part of the interesting aspect to Gilmore girls that's different from today. [SPEAKER_00]: And then I said in the comments, I was like, no, no, we're like, we were born in the early 90s.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, we remember a time without self-incent like, no, you don't get it. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like, oh yeah, I don't have any meant to be a world that I existed in, please. [SPEAKER_00]: It's so funny. [SPEAKER_01]: It's so Facebook. [SPEAKER_01]: That's the Facebook demographic. [SPEAKER_01]: I love that.
[SPEAKER_01]: I love that for them. [SPEAKER_01]: They got so close to the point. [SPEAKER_00]: Thanks for the comments and the, you know, because it did get a lot of buzz. [SPEAKER_00]: But I was just like, [SPEAKER_01]: You know that scene speaking of what he's round up in Toy Story 2 when they get off the airplane and it flies so close that it almost takes what he's had off that was the Facebook commenters and the point it was they just all the point like yeah that was in all caps normal at that time [SPEAKER_00]: Like, I was like, oh, thank you for, like, collaborating my statement.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, yeah, we know, yeah, we existed during that time as well. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, you didn't like being in elementary schools and not the same as being in high school at that time. [SPEAKER_00]: I was like, yeah, of course you actually, you're so right. [SPEAKER_00]: That's actually true.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's so true. [SPEAKER_00]: Also, you're acting like we were born with cell phones at our hands. [SPEAKER_00]: We weren't, I was. [SPEAKER_00]: You were born. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: I wasn't. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's like, it was like a certain package that you had dig at like, or maybe sometimes she comes with her accessory, sometimes you have to buy them later.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: That was me. [SPEAKER_01]: That was the buy later option. [SPEAKER_01]: This one. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: That's this thing. [SPEAKER_01]: I like people, they're just, they're, it's some people just like want to not hear what is being said and they've just assumed and they listen to five seconds of it, you know?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And I love that journey for them. [SPEAKER_01]: And you know what? [SPEAKER_01]: Those are probably the people that need to disengage from their phone. [SPEAKER_01]: 100%. [SPEAKER_00]: I was like, oh, if this is not an example of people who need to disengage.
[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, the irony was [SPEAKER_00]: palpable because that was the whole reason why we did the episode. [SPEAKER_00]: We were like have an analog on them like promote Like yeah, yes, yes, it was normal in all capital letters when it was normal It was so it was so funny. [SPEAKER_00]: I was just like oh, oh, wow I just was scrolling through these comments like and there were obviously a bunch of people who were like Oh, I miss these times like oh, there's always you know, but there were a lot of people who were like [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, tell me that you don't understand what the world was like before cell phones without telling me that you don't understand what the world was like before cell phones were like tell me you have had your cell phone glued to your hand for the past three years without telling me exactly it was just oh my god anyway I forgot that I wanted to tell you about that but I was just like yeah because you know that I've never seen Facebook I know he always never touched Facebook that's not true like probably in the last six years yeah and honestly
[SPEAKER_00]: solely for marketplace and mostly for my winning. [SPEAKER_01]: I will get on my mom's marketplace because I, that is my one drawback is like I too. [SPEAKER_01]: I wish Facebook Marketplace existed off of Facebook so I could go on it. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm not gonna get a Facebook. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, maybe I could get like a non-facebook and just scroll forward.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, Brad has that account that's just like, like, truly like, it looks like a, [SPEAKER_00]: like a phantom account because maybe that's what I mean. [SPEAKER_00]: He deleted his Facebook back in 2016. [SPEAKER_01]: I said maybe I can have like a bot account like out of the bot. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: I will say it's also kind of scary there too. [SPEAKER_00]: I had this situation the other day I posted about on my story. [SPEAKER_00]: For the wedding, one of the things that I was sourcing for you guys were vintage compacts because I thought that they would be really cute get. [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.
[SPEAKER_00]: That was a dragonfly and I was like, oh, that would be so cute to give to Haley. [SPEAKER_00]: And so I reached out to this woman and I was like, hey, do you do shipping because it was local pickup only and it's in like, I don't know, like out in Long Island or New Jersey or something it's like too far away, but if I could get it shipped.
[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, she responded to me and I didn't realize because I don't have those notifications on my phone because I'm trying to be very good about like, [SPEAKER_00]: how much I interact. [SPEAKER_00]: Totally on me that I didn't have the Facebook notifications on, but I opened my messages the other day.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like I was like I haven't heard back from about like XYZ thing and I opened my messages not realizing that I had missed some this woman responded to me and was like yes like if you like you would have to pay for shipping. [SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, a week later, this was like when we were in Ann Arbor, she was like, hello.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then two days later, she was like, just wanted to see if you're interested in the Dragonfly, but it sounds like you're not, like you take care now, and then then she messaged me again, the next day at like 10 p.m. and was like, why even message me at all? [SPEAKER_00]: Why bother me and disrupt my [SPEAKER_00]: I was like, she said like, people like you are oi, bothersome in all capsules, I was like cute with the boys already and I was like [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, Martha.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so I went to respond and I was like, oh, see, I didn't see her messages. [SPEAKER_00]: Also, I'm getting married next week. [SPEAKER_00]: I got a lot going on right now. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to buy this from you anymore, not because I'm not interested, but because you message people like this at 10 p.m. on a Tuesday.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I think I'm good, but it didn't matter because she blocked me. [SPEAKER_01]: See, you're just really making the case to stay away. [SPEAKER_00]: Internet is a wild place and it just made me like, oh, do you know how many people, like, when I'm selling something on Facebook Marketplace, they ask me if it's available, and I'm like, yeah, it's still available.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then they, you know, then you literally never hear from them. [SPEAKER_01]: Never hear the navigation. [SPEAKER_00]: And I don't, I don't sit there and go, you have no class. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like, you were interested, now you're not, okay. [SPEAKER_00]: If you ghost me, you're supposed to pick something up and you ghost me and judge you a little bit.
[SPEAKER_00]: But like, girl, I was a you have to find a better way to spend your time. [SPEAKER_00]: She needs to have an analog on him crazy. [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, Martha, if you're out there, I hope that you take a chill pill and have yourself an analog on him. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, chill pill first.
[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, all of that to say, I am excited to kind of like disconnect once the wedding has commenced in that regard, because I feel like I've been more chronically online than I would otherwise be because I'm searching for things for the wedding itself. [SPEAKER_00]: And once that's done, then we'll have a little decompressed time.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think so. [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, moving on, cheese gal. [SPEAKER_00]: We got to talk to Courtney McCourt if I absolutely love. [SPEAKER_00]: Just like simply incredible. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Love her so much, like I am so happy for her too because oversharing was in New York Times bestseller.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like number three, number three, number three. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm so happy for her watching her. [SPEAKER_00]: complete her or like be in the throes of her book tour is just like her press tour for her book is is so good. [SPEAKER_00]: I know. [SPEAKER_00]: I know. [SPEAKER_01]: I know. [SPEAKER_01]: I was like go Quartney Go.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like truly, truly, truly, so great. [SPEAKER_01]: Also, I have found myself ever since I got the oversharing cookbook. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, I don't know what to do. [SPEAKER_01]: And normally, okay, talk about analog autumn. [SPEAKER_01]: Normally, I would scroll an Instagram like trying to find [SPEAKER_01]: kind of what I want like pasta with this on Instagram and I'd scroll through to find a recipe.
[SPEAKER_01]: I was flipping through oversharing and that's what I didn't instead. [SPEAKER_01]: And so like, love that. [SPEAKER_01]: We've got that instead. [SPEAKER_00]: I think so. [SPEAKER_00]: That's great. [SPEAKER_00]: That's why I asked for recipes for, um, [SPEAKER_00]: my shower. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, because I was like, I want to have like a physical recipe book and having oversharing is so good as well.
[SPEAKER_00]: Brought has a ton of cookbooks because he loves to cook, and I kind of like that. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, of course, the ease of just hopping on Pinterest and being like this is what I want to make tonight. [SPEAKER_00]: Give me a good recipe for it is great. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like it's just even though it's convenient, it's just like I want to slow down a little bit.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah but it is mostly also having met her and like seeing these recipes that she put together and then making them like um, cares, pecan, and potato chip cookies. [SPEAKER_01]: They're so good. [SPEAKER_01]: I actually made them for backsporescent because she was going to be in Atlanta but [SPEAKER_01]: There was a noor Easter, so her tour ended early and she didn't end up coming.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so I had a tray of cookies that I just ate myself actually because they were just so good. [SPEAKER_01]: Like there's just that I feel like you could add something fun to it too. [SPEAKER_01]: Like if you wanted a chocolate element, I think I've mentioned those cookies before. [SPEAKER_01]: But it just like, oh, perfect.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to make them paralleline because [SPEAKER_00]: That's a good idea. [SPEAKER_01]: I think I might get something spooky in them. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, not spooky. [SPEAKER_01]: Like that not like something yucky But like something to make them look spooky. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, it's a surprise, but oh delicious I just like can't can't recommend cheese gal Courtney the court that episode in general But also to be sharing such a good addition to your analog bag.
[SPEAKER_00]: I just adore her So it was fun. [SPEAKER_00]: I can't believe that was just in September and again like like a month ago [SPEAKER_00]: But rounding out September was the top 26 lines of Gilmore Girls, and that of course, we knew it was going to be a very flashy episode because everybody has a lot to say, especially when we're ranking things like that.
[SPEAKER_00]: Last year when we did the top 25 episodes of Gilmore Girls, everybody had a lot to say about that. [SPEAKER_00]: But there were some honorable mentions in here that we did not talk about. [SPEAKER_00]: I cannot believe some of the ones we missed. [SPEAKER_00]: At the top of the list is see he called me hot plates, he's so likes me and so likes me.
[SPEAKER_01]: I say that all the time anytime someone walks up to a table, waiter, waitress, person, individual at all and mentions that the plate is hot. [SPEAKER_01]: See, he so likes me, and I just cannot believe I forgot about it. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm so sorry. [SPEAKER_01]: I feel like I need to step down as my role of co-host of Gilmore to say.
[SPEAKER_01]: Do I even like Gilmore girls? [SPEAKER_01]: Like, oh, really maybe. [SPEAKER_01]: No, I do. [SPEAKER_00]: There were just so many lines to choose for us. [SPEAKER_01]: So many, I just can't believe I forgot that one. [SPEAKER_00]: The other one that I can't believe we didn't mention was no men, just lots and lots of trainees.
[SPEAKER_00]: Food, no men, followed by Paris, absolutely annihilating Logan Huntsburg girl. [SPEAKER_00]: See, that one's hard because [SPEAKER_01]: I actually think that would go in the monolose because yes, there are so many good bits in that in what she delivers to him there, but with you it really is a better monologue than it is lines individually, because like how do you pick?
[SPEAKER_01]: But no man just lots of Chinese food, that is a good one. [SPEAKER_01]: Honestly, either one. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, see he called me hot plate T, so like it's me. [SPEAKER_00]: The other one, like, just some others that people mentioned, I mean, I could scroll through, like, the comments on all of our posts from Instagram and find a bajillion lines, but here were some of my faves.
[SPEAKER_00]: Who are you? [SPEAKER_00]: What is all of this? [SPEAKER_00]: David, who are these unwashed boys? [SPEAKER_01]: way that would so that would be such a good mischimline. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I love that. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I love that. [SPEAKER_00]: These unwashed boys. [SPEAKER_00]: And when we were trying to like a lot of people commented Luke lines because we were like, oh, we want to include Luke, but he's really good at the banter.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: He water his standalone lines. [SPEAKER_00]: And one of the banters that I feel like warrants in episode that we've talked about for a while, which is so Luke and Taylor episode. [SPEAKER_00]: is are you going to act? [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, I am. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna actually get never came in here.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's before he does the F-I-N-E. [SPEAKER_00]: I love that. [SPEAKER_00]: So good. [SPEAKER_00]: It's one of my favorites because yeah, I love that episode. [SPEAKER_00]: F-I-N-E. Oh, so good. [SPEAKER_00]: That's one of the ones that like when I was very young and watching this on my portable DVD player, I would like memorize what Taylor said, you know, much like the nobody believe he and my father have come to an agreement on how many [SPEAKER_00]: but someone else for Luke Lines said, I'm fine.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm great. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a big fat, happy sunshine day for me. [SPEAKER_01]: Such a good one. [SPEAKER_00]: Such a good day, Gwen. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I think we picked correctly. [SPEAKER_00]: I think we did too. [SPEAKER_00]: Very good. [SPEAKER_00]: I think we did too.
[SPEAKER_00]: One of the Jess lines that someone commented, and I could hear it through the screen was, geez, man, she's not shipping off to nom. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And then, a Paris-Geller line, last one that I'll share, is you're a honey-tung devil, arjudic. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god, stop anything to do with season four, Paris, and her arc with older men.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, that's a big no for me, but that is a great line. [SPEAKER_01]: Great, that is a great line. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but we'll hold off on any more just lines because as it turns out, we're on a November [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, following week, of course, to celebrate Roy Gilmore and her birthday was her career trajectory with Amon Harrier Kia, who we love and I believe checked out her book once in a time.
[SPEAKER_00]: But we had a couple of really solid comments about Roy. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, one of the things we posted on our Instagram was the conversation, like a little snippet of the conversation between us and Amon, of course. [SPEAKER_01]: But can I tell you, Amon message me and she was like, [SPEAKER_01]: eight where you go more like these comments are insane.
[SPEAKER_01]: I said I'm on. [SPEAKER_00]: We told you to tell you and it's so funny because I did post the image that was like happy birthday where you go more. [SPEAKER_00]: Why does everybody hate you and people were like [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, worry like we love where you like you can never make me hate worry and I'm like We're all the people who wear don't like her when I post this up.
[SPEAKER_01]: Where is everyone? [SPEAKER_01]: Where did you guys go? [SPEAKER_01]: You're making us look silly. [SPEAKER_01]: Come back. [SPEAKER_01]: They like stand there like like I'm not gonna comment on that Yeah, exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: We're trying to rage bait me. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: We are come back.
[SPEAKER_01]: Good. [SPEAKER_00]: When you're over the same plane yourself. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, get over here and be baited [SPEAKER_00]: One of the things we posted was the, like, a brief snippet of the conversation between Mitchum and Rory followed by commentary from Emon and one of the comments there was as a big girl world fan since 2000.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is from Lady Sonora. [SPEAKER_00]: That is the username. [SPEAKER_00]: As a big Gilmore girl's fan since 2000, who graduated in 2009 and became a newspaper journalist and later a foreign correspondent, here is what I think. [SPEAKER_00]: Ooh, I know, even in high school in season one episode two, when the headmaster asks why she wants to be a journalist, her answer was, she put like slanted face like, [SPEAKER_00]: She never wanted the public service grind, covering school boards and town halls.
[SPEAKER_00]: She wanted to quote be a part of something big she said, just wanted her name in a big national mast head and a travel budget. [SPEAKER_00]: Homegirl never once mentioned holding power to account, or shining a light on society's problems. [SPEAKER_00]: I would have loved to take on how publishers like Mitchum were decimating newspapers as the show was airing.
[SPEAKER_00]: Hmm, and I thought it was a very interesting perspective because, you know, it's a rarity that you like come across someone who is like who has that exact same journalistic aspirations and the exactly what like became exactly who regal more wanted to be. [SPEAKER_00]: And so to hear from someone in the comments was like, ooh, [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's quite exciting, because that was the difference between Amon.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like she was in a different sort of field than what we're wanted to be in terms of the media journalism industry. [SPEAKER_01]: Totally. [SPEAKER_01]: But I thought so fascinating. [SPEAKER_01]: And I do think that there was like this. [SPEAKER_01]: to add that to Roy storyline into her hopes and dreams.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't necessarily think that they took into account the state of journalism as they went through her story because I think there's really interesting things that a lot of journalists do bring up of what could have made sent or what would have made sense. [SPEAKER_01]: in the revival or even in the Mitchum storyline of like two bolster it to give it a little bit more depth that would have been interesting and ultimately it's not there but every time I hear someone talking about it who is in the career that Rory wanted and I was like oh that sounds so good that sounds so interesting come on Emily time travel yeah 100%.
[SPEAKER_00]: an alternative perspective that came from one of our YouTube commenters was more about Roy's ability to receive rejection. [SPEAKER_00]: And I found this really interesting. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm curious what you think. [SPEAKER_00]: They said, Roy had the misfortune of not having a father or male figure growing up, which would have afforded her the opportunity to learn the art of pushing back and standing up for herself when it came to men.
[SPEAKER_00]: All of the men allowed to be of a round worry were selected by Laura Lie and deemed safe, so would never dream of stepping over the boundary to provide genuine guidance if the situation called for it. [SPEAKER_00]: She wasn't allowed to develop the skills needed to handle that type of rejection.
[SPEAKER_00]: Hmm, interesting. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't necessarily think that growing up with that male figure is what's going to give you those skills, because she's sure poached back against Paris, but again, contemporary of hers. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, not someone in a figure of authority. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't necessarily think that like having someone like Richard like her being able to push back against him would put her in the same mindset of Mitchum.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's like actually really good that she mostly only had safe adults around her. [SPEAKER_01]: I think it's an interesting idea that you only develop skills like that through the people that your parents did not choose for you. [SPEAKER_01]: I think it's an interesting jump for me personally.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think that it's as a lack of random people being allowed. [SPEAKER_01]: I guess I'm trying to confuse just to how men wouldn't end up in her life that Laura liked it and choose for her that would help her deal with that. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, no, I think that that aspect to it, I'd have to remove from like I don't think Laura like put [SPEAKER_00]: like only a specific kind of man in her path.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because I think that's good. [SPEAKER_01]: I think that's how it should be. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And that led to her inability to be rejected. [SPEAKER_00]: I think the town that lifted her up of course, like gave her a bit of a complex that she was very special. [SPEAKER_00]: I really think that when it comes to the people that were in Roy's life, like she pushed back on headmaster Charleston by season two when he tries to like reprimand her for something.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm standing up to him then. [SPEAKER_00]: same with Richard, like with Richard, and when she is present, you know, like, I guess when it comes to rejection, though, I don't know that anything can necessarily prepare you for that until you've been rejected. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think that anything can prepare you to be in your first internship like that, and to have someone in a position of power over you, like in multiple different ways, like both the your boyfriend's dad, someone that your grandparents is friends with, [SPEAKER_01]: But also like directly in power over you delivers something like that, I don't think there's any sort of figure being in your life that's going to help you through that conversation.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think that it might be that she just really always got what she wanted. [SPEAKER_01]: And I don't think it really had anything to do with the men necessarily in her life. [SPEAKER_01]: I think that's kind of a big generalization about that situation. [SPEAKER_01]: It's just that he was a man who rejected her.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think that I think it's a lot more nuanced than it was just that was a man. [SPEAKER_00]: I just wonder if like an elder female figure said the same thing to her if she would have had the reaction that she did and my perspective is yes. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think, I think, yes.
[SPEAKER_01]: I maybe worse. [SPEAKER_01]: I think 100%. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think it was the person so much as the position of power and the authority of what they said. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it could have been Logan's mom who owned the newspaper. [SPEAKER_01]: I feel like I would have been bad. [SPEAKER_00]: Moving into rankings revisited and wrapping it up because of course we haven't released weddings revisited or stars Halloween yet to really comment on that.
[SPEAKER_00]: I wanted to just know a couple of things that were shared on Instagram because of course we drew attention to the bracelet dinner and there were people in the comments only a few but there were people in the comments who said that they're not bracelet dinner fans either and they understand that those are my [SPEAKER_01]: girls like get behind me I'll protect you like no worries thank you for also standing in front of me and defending me yeah I got it and you know like I watched back the um the idea about the glance bridge dinner but that is when that's like the first that's like the core moment of kind of caring about them because like at this point most of their relationship has been glancing at each other
[SPEAKER_01]: that we have the incidents, the crime scene incident, but other than that we're not really sure of anything happening between the two of them and like the dean drama of a chest doesn't really make sense, but that's like the core of it that's where you care about it and that's really the most interesting part of it.
[SPEAKER_01]: I like the episode. [SPEAKER_01]: It's a good episode. [SPEAKER_01]: What I watched that episode before most of episodes in season seven. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, my friends, of course, that's what I said in that episode. [SPEAKER_01]: But is it an episode that I'm going to turn on my own? [SPEAKER_01]: Only if I need to.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's just only if it's on. [SPEAKER_01]: Only if it's on. [SPEAKER_01]: Only if it's on the next episode. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like for me, it's a comfy cozy episode. [SPEAKER_01]: Like that's a comfy cozy episode for sure. [SPEAKER_00]: So I'm turning that on when I want to feel.
[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't give me knife feelings, you know? [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to watch it, but I'm not going to turn it on. [SPEAKER_01]: You know you said you said like cozy comfy wasn't you what's the opposite of cozy comfy like Stabby Stabby like uncomfy Stabby went with the knife well, and I just was like knife point like that's really uncomfortable I like you know, yes, bikey feel What's a spike if not a knife Sure, but to knife if not a spike, you know, yeah [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, it's Boogie season. [SPEAKER_00]: We had to. [SPEAKER_00]: I'll turn it atively. [SPEAKER_00]: There were people who commented on our trailer reel, where I said I wanted to publicly apologize for saying that the road trip to Harvard was a skip episode, being like, I also skipped the road trip to Harvard.
[SPEAKER_00]: Not my face. [SPEAKER_00]: And they're wrong. [SPEAKER_00]: It's interesting because I thought that I thought that I was like the only one who did this. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, for people to know such thing. [SPEAKER_00]: There's no such thing in the government. [SPEAKER_01]: For the people who were like, I actually also don't really like that.
[SPEAKER_01]: Is that I always came up? [SPEAKER_01]: Well, there was like, and why would you skip it? [SPEAKER_01]: It's great episode. [SPEAKER_01]: See, this is me, the other side, just not understanding. [SPEAKER_01]: With the brace bridge. [SPEAKER_01]: You're using the people from behind you being like, Get them, get them!
[SPEAKER_00]: But the knives, spikes! [SPEAKER_01]: Bulls are cool, and I'll game back. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god, but the episode we released it only a couple of days ago, so it hasn't really had a ton of time to get a lot of comments, but we wanted to at least have a little debrief about rankings revisiting, because that was so fun.
[SPEAKER_00]: It was so great to like, listen to past us. [SPEAKER_01]: I love this thing to past us sometimes. [SPEAKER_01]: Who are these girls? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, who said this? [SPEAKER_00]: And that was fall, not all of it, but that was like the first half of fall. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we still have much fall to have and a great, big portion of it is going to be just Mariano November.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I'm so excited for Jess Mariano November. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because today this air is on October 29th tomorrow, October 30th is the anniversary, the 25th anniversary of Jess Mariano getting off the bus. [SPEAKER_01]: It is. [SPEAKER_01]: And thank God he did. [SPEAKER_00]: And thank God he got off that bus on [SPEAKER_01]: and we'll have more to say on that in the next episode.
