[SPEAKER_01]: 5, 6, 7, 8, April. [SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about our April Roundup. [SPEAKER_01]: Here we go. [SPEAKER_01]: Hi, everybody. [SPEAKER_01]: Welcome back to Gilmore to Consider with Tara and Haley. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm Tara. [SPEAKER_01]: This is Haley. [SPEAKER_01]: Hi, Tara. [SPEAKER_01]: It's our April Roundup.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's last day of April. [SPEAKER_01]: Bye, April. [SPEAKER_00]: Bye April. [SPEAKER_00]: I actually, I keep wanting to say may. [SPEAKER_00]: When you just said April, it just sounds like it's may. [SPEAKER_00]: Like I don't know why. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm so sorry. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm so sorry.

[SPEAKER_00]: Tomorrow it's May. [SPEAKER_00]: May first, I'm actually quite excited for May. [SPEAKER_00]: May it just feels like a good month. [SPEAKER_00]: Everyone's birthday is in May. [SPEAKER_01]: a lot of people actually I have a lot of friends with birthdays in April so many oh my god last week I had like five or six friends who had birthdays and I was like yeah god oh my god you're a whole lot of same week a lot of little birthday so I get to go to like true birthday parties that's true monster to have a lot of birthdays I'm going to eat [SPEAKER_00]: how boy themed birthday party?

[SPEAKER_00]: Let's see me fun. [SPEAKER_00]: Can be a fun month. [SPEAKER_00]: Let me excited. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it is a fun month. [SPEAKER_00]: Before we get to May, which apparently my brain is obsessed with today, I happened to name Brawl. [SPEAKER_01]: A lot happened in April. [SPEAKER_01]: Unexpectedly, it's so funny because we kept saying, March, of course, was when we released a marvelous time.

[SPEAKER_01]: And we were like, April's going to be a breeze. [SPEAKER_01]: And then April suddenly got us. [SPEAKER_01]: Mary's in the face, busy and it got busy for good reason. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we actually went out to L.A. the second week, third week, and second week. [SPEAKER_01]: Second week.

[SPEAKER_01]: I think this is the third week. [SPEAKER_01]: It's the third full week. [SPEAKER_01]: So April started on a Wednesday. [SPEAKER_01]: So it was technically the second week of April, or the third week? [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, anyway. [SPEAKER_01]: I went to LA, we went to LA, and we went there because we were asked to come out and be a part of the Gilmore Girls documentary that they are shooting right now.

[SPEAKER_01]: I guess they're in post-production at this point. [SPEAKER_01]: And it was very unexpected. [SPEAKER_01]: It came the inquiry came through two to three weeks before we would have had to be out there. [SPEAKER_01]: And it was like two minutes. [SPEAKER_00]: We made it happen. [SPEAKER_00]: We made it happen.

[SPEAKER_00]: We had it happen quick. [SPEAKER_00]: I just remember so specifically being like, okay, April's finally going to be calm. [SPEAKER_00]: There's so many things I want to do. [SPEAKER_00]: Like outside the pod, just because like we've been so so busy for like since honestly September and like April calm.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then we get this email and I was like, okay. [SPEAKER_00]: Not come what's go. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's go on a trip, but it's for I'm sure you guys have seen the trailer for it that they did because like much like Perhaps you thought that it had already been finished because they released some of the footage But it was more so of a teaser of what they were doing to entice some people of course because they had a kickstarter But this is the unofficial Gilmore Rolls documentary that they're doing and they wanted us to come out and contribute to it.

[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, we thought hey why not? [SPEAKER_00]: Let's go down. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's go to LA. [SPEAKER_00]: So we went to LA. [SPEAKER_01]: I hate that flight, but it's I hate that flight as well. [SPEAKER_01]: But you know why? [SPEAKER_01]: It's always worth it in the end.

[SPEAKER_01]: We always make these spontaneous trips out to LA. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I guess in 2024 it wasn't spontaneous. [SPEAKER_01]: We had a planned event. [SPEAKER_00]: We was very planned. [SPEAKER_00]: But this is our second annual last minute trip. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, 2025 was a little more spontaneous because it was Paleo Fest.

[SPEAKER_01]: This is probably the most spontaneous, but definitely worth it We had an interesting time while we were out in LA. [SPEAKER_01]: We were only there for about 48 hours. [SPEAKER_01]: It was very fast. [SPEAKER_00]: Very fast We got there on Tuesday afternoon. [SPEAKER_00]: We left on Thursday afternoon little whirlwind trip had a great time.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah [SPEAKER_00]: We have such a good time when we're together. [SPEAKER_01]: It's true, that's the thing. [SPEAKER_01]: It's like, I had a great time spending time with you because my friendship is beautiful and you love it. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's true. [SPEAKER_01]: But those moments where we get to hang out together are more frequent than they used to be.

[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like when you get together in person, it used to be like this, very, like this treat. [SPEAKER_01]: None is not a treat anymore. [SPEAKER_01]: But you don't want to say, it's like, got that girl. [SPEAKER_01]: That's cool again. [SPEAKER_01]: She's on my computer and she's a person.

[SPEAKER_01]: No, it's that, you know, we would never see each other. [SPEAKER_01]: So when we did it was always this like crazy experience to get to see each other and spend time together and because we're always, we're always together. [SPEAKER_01]: We're just never physically together in person. [SPEAKER_01]: But it's still, it's always a treat to get to spend some time together in person and get to take a little trip and have a little adventure together.

[SPEAKER_01]: And this was definitely an adventure. [SPEAKER_00]: The picture is a very, like heroin journey, perhaps, you guys are so... We're definitely going to give a more detailed explanation of this on our Patreon with our Besties there, but we will tell you about the heroin journey, because I feel like to just leave you there, you might think that we were like kidnapped or something.

[SPEAKER_00]: There was no kidnapping involved. [SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, because we probably have, we probably avoided one for being honest. [SPEAKER_01]: We probably did, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: So my mom obsessed with her love her so much, Miss Beans, for those who know Miss Genie Beans. [SPEAKER_01]: She was so sweet.

[SPEAKER_01]: She was like, let me get your hotel. [SPEAKER_01]: This was such a last minute trip for you guys. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, she's got one thing off your plate. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, she was like, I will use my hotel points. [SPEAKER_01]: I will get you guys a hotel. [SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, great, great, great.

[SPEAKER_01]: She sent me some options and was like, you know, this is what's in the realm of the hotel card that I have, you know, there are tons of options. [SPEAKER_01]: What do you think is a good neighborhood? [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, dude, I don't really know L.A. We asked her cousin, my aunt Linda, you know what, she thought she lives out in a land.

[SPEAKER_01]: She was like, yeah, these are good. [SPEAKER_01]: And so we ended up landing on this one hotel whose name will remain nameless because it was cute and it was pink. [SPEAKER_00]: We can do a pink we can do pink. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and this was not like this was not a five star hotel We knew it was kind of what we were headed into we knew that this was like we didn't but we thought we knew I just mean like we knew that we weren't getting like top dollar luxurious experience [SPEAKER_01]: we knew that this was going to be kind of like a mid to your hotel.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we were on a budget and a time line and a time crunch. [SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, it was one of the things that the time crunch, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And I think that when you're working with something last minute like that, you're always running until like these super high price hotels.

[SPEAKER_01]: And it was really a speed of my mom to take that off our performance for us. [SPEAKER_01]: Of course. [SPEAKER_01]: It was the blessing and the curse. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so I wasn't it. [SPEAKER_01]: We did our research, you know, we looked at pictures online and I was like, yeah, this looks okay.

[SPEAKER_01]: This, you know, reviews, people were like, yeah, I'll listen. [SPEAKER_01]: It's not like a luxurious situation, but it's great for example. [SPEAKER_01]: It's not the word's groutin. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: So, we got off the plane and I just had this feeling. [SPEAKER_01]: I was like, I don't know, it's okay.

[SPEAKER_01]: You know, like, I just had this feeling as we were headed towards it. [SPEAKER_01]: I was like, I really hope everything's okay. [SPEAKER_00]: And then when we get there, my suitcase is fall on top of me, as if like, don't take us in there. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, don't go away. [SPEAKER_00]: We are from Shay Mitchell's suitcase line.

[SPEAKER_00]: We do not belong in this hotel. [SPEAKER_00]: Please, and they like literally fell on top of me. [SPEAKER_00]: And I was like, he-he-ha-ha, my suitcase is fell. [SPEAKER_00]: But it was a similar moment. [SPEAKER_01]: It was an omen, because we got to this hotel and y'all, it looked nothing like the pictures.

[SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't pink. [SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't pink. [SPEAKER_01]: It was the outside. [SPEAKER_01]: The, it was in gray. [SPEAKER_01]: It was in gray. [SPEAKER_01]: been renovated and it down all the same. [SPEAKER_01]: But downgraded, it was similar. [SPEAKER_00]: They made it worse. [SPEAKER_00]: First of all, the lobby, I tell my mom, I looked like an urgent care that was trying to scam you, but was also nice for drugs.

[SPEAKER_01]: It was so bizarre. [SPEAKER_01]: We walked in and if you look at the pictures of the lobby online, it doesn't look like that. [SPEAKER_01]: It was the completely antithesis and I was like, [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, and like the thing about Haley and I is we're trying to be we're trying to roll with the punches.

[SPEAKER_01]: We're trying to be good sports like trying to be team players We didn't know what game we were playing You didn't know what team you're on pick a team. [SPEAKER_00]: It needs you. [SPEAKER_00]: We couldn't pick the team. [SPEAKER_00]: I tell my mom I when I was retelling a story to her.

[SPEAKER_00]: I said I knew from the moment that I got there that I didn't want to be there And I don't know how to say I will not walk any further [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't know how to be like, no, we were both being so like, okay, I hate like I was I was giving my all for this performance, but I was like, I want as well.

[SPEAKER_00]: I want to go. [SPEAKER_01]: But I also like I wasn't I wasn't so we get to the lobby. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, you know, okay. [SPEAKER_01]: All right, maybe like- Lobby is such a generous term for this. [SPEAKER_00]: We get to the vestibule. [SPEAKER_01]: The vestibule. [SPEAKER_01]: And so, you know, we check in and the girl is really nice and we enter into what we think is going to be- No, we exit, exit into the outdoors, which we thought was gonna be this like pool.

[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, the pool has been filled with cement. [SPEAKER_01]: It is just cement. [SPEAKER_01]: I should have said that. [SPEAKER_01]: I should have said that. [SPEAKER_01]: I should have said that. [SPEAKER_01]: I should have said that. [SPEAKER_01]: I should have said that. [SPEAKER_01]: I should have said that.

[SPEAKER_01]: I should have said that. [SPEAKER_01]: I should have said that.

[SPEAKER_00]: I should have said that. [SPEAKER_00]: I should have said that. [SPEAKER_00]: I should have said that. [SPEAKER_00]: I should have said that. [SPEAKER_00]: I should have said that. [SPEAKER_00]: I should have said that. [SPEAKER_00]: I should have said that. [SPEAKER_00]: I should have said that.

[SPEAKER_00]: I should have said that. [SPEAKER_00]: I should have said that. [SPEAKER_00]: I should have said that. [SPEAKER_00]: I should have said that. [SPEAKER_01]: I should have said that. [SPEAKER_00]: I should have said that. [SPEAKER_01]: No, of course, her kind of like less desirable places.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's a motel, you know, that's the vibe. [SPEAKER_00]: But like, I've never encountered an area like this before in my life. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that was my weird. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I was like, am I a spoiled girl that I've never... What's really interesting is that I walked in and went...

[SPEAKER_01]: And you didn't seem to really like, like, I could tell that you were kind of like, okay, but you were being a really good sport about it. [SPEAKER_01]: And I felt like I was the one who was like, performance of a lifetime. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_00]: Because I was like, I don't want to be here.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm gone. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm actually going to leave in the middle of the night and never come back. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm just never going to see me. [SPEAKER_00]: You're really in the middle of the night? [SPEAKER_00]: No, I maybe I was going to be kidnapped. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not sure.

[SPEAKER_00]: But like, I was like, I'm not staying here. [SPEAKER_00]: But I was like, I guess I'm this is where I live now. [SPEAKER_01]: So we're there and I'm kind of looking around and like, [SPEAKER_01]: And the pictures of the inside did match what it looked like but it was like these pictures have been taken after it had been freshly renovated and this was like 10 years later and it had been touched since and it was 88 degrees from the lockdown.

[SPEAKER_01]: It was very hot and so we both just kind of looked around and we were like okay [SPEAKER_01]: And we're just, we're trying to be very, very good sports. [SPEAKER_01]: We're trying to be very grateful because again, my mom got us this hotel room. [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like, that's the blessing and the curse.

[SPEAKER_00]: The blessing was like, we were so blessed that she wanted to help us. [SPEAKER_00]: The curse was then we didn't know how to get out of it. [SPEAKER_00]: Like emotionally was really it because we both were like, she helped us. [SPEAKER_00]: Like I can't just like give this up. [SPEAKER_00]: She helped us.

[SPEAKER_01]: She helped us out. [SPEAKER_01]: And like we can be good sports about this. [SPEAKER_01]: It's only two nights. [SPEAKER_01]: We're gonna be fine. [SPEAKER_01]: We're gonna be fine. [SPEAKER_01]: Brothel. [SPEAKER_01]: We went to dinner at this really cute taco place. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it was really good.

[SPEAKER_01]: It was called tombodry and it was very, very cute and it was on our way. [SPEAKER_01]: It was pink. [SPEAKER_01]: We finally got our pink. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and the bartender was so kind. [SPEAKER_00]: Mead the soul. [SPEAKER_00]: A no-heedos for us. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we got Virgin Mojito's and the funny thing is we were on our way to the gratitude cafe, but we saw to moderate.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, cafe gratitude. [SPEAKER_01]: And we saw to moderate and we were like, no, let's go here. [SPEAKER_01]: And it was really, really cute. [SPEAKER_01]: We had a great little dinner. [SPEAKER_01]: And then, I will say the walk to and from not the best, not she was fine, fine. [SPEAKER_00]: But it was more that I kept being like terror.

[SPEAKER_00]: No one else is walking. [SPEAKER_00]: There's no one else walking here. [SPEAKER_01]: We were the few, there were a few people, but it wasn't like, it's not really a walking town. [SPEAKER_01]: I know. [SPEAKER_01]: That's really where the drivers town. [SPEAKER_01]: So we went to the grocery store, there was a grocery store down the street, there was also a CVS on the other side of the hotel, which is what my mom and I saw, we were like, I had to just get a map at this point, find the location.

[SPEAKER_01]: I know, let's show. [SPEAKER_01]: We were near Starbucks, we were near grocery store, we were near CVS, like, we truly, we were really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really [SPEAKER_01]: we felt like we were.

[SPEAKER_00]: But when you got there, it was just kind of like, oh, that's which was so weird. [SPEAKER_00]: Is it felt like a departure from where we were? [SPEAKER_00]: Like it felt like we left LA and went somewhere else because like everything around us was okay. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And then we walked inside of this and I was like, and so we get back to the room and we're sitting there and now it's dark.

[SPEAKER_01]: And now we realize that the bathroom window is literally up against the sidewalk. [SPEAKER_01]: Like it's on the street, like I peed into it, and there are people standing outside of it. [SPEAKER_01]: And it was like, there is nothing between us and the people on the street. [SPEAKER_01]: And so Haley goes into Tika Shower, and the door was like one of those sliding barn doors, and it didn't have like a bottom track.

[SPEAKER_01]: So it was just Haley kept pushing the door out and going, peeking away. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, because the door, when you slide it, it didn't slide all the way closed. [SPEAKER_00]: But you could push it away from the wall. [SPEAKER_00]: Like you could just fully push the door open, like while it was on the tracks.

[SPEAKER_00]: And that's why I was catching people. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm just trying to look left because I'm like, you have to get out of here. [SPEAKER_01]: We knew that it was just bad. [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm texting Brett and I was like, honey. [SPEAKER_01]: But I get in the shower because I'm like, we're stuck here.

[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I'm gonna be stuck here. [SPEAKER_00]: I might as well just wash my hair. [SPEAKER_01]: I might as well just be kind of clean. [SPEAKER_01]: And so I texted Brett and I was like, honey, this is bad and I don't know what to do because I can't tell my poor sweet mom who got us this hotel that it is bad.

[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what to do. [SPEAKER_01]: And he was like, well, how bad is it? [SPEAKER_01]: I was like, oh, honey, it's bad. [SPEAKER_01]: It's bad. [SPEAKER_01]: And so, Haley gets out of the shower and I looked at her and I said, do we need to go? [SPEAKER_01]: And we're called of debating back and forth.

[SPEAKER_01]: Well, this was the thing we gave. [SPEAKER_00]: We were debating whether or not we should leave for tomorrow. [SPEAKER_00]: They were like, we'll just stay tonight. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, like, logistically, it was very difficult to kind of try and figure it out. [SPEAKER_01]: Because at this point, it was about 9.30 at night, LA time.

[SPEAKER_01]: So to us, it's 12.30 in the morning to our bodies. [SPEAKER_01]: It is late. [SPEAKER_00]: It's late. [SPEAKER_00]: But it was more so that like when you were talking about like you looked up a hotel, we could stay there tomorrow. [SPEAKER_00]: I did. [SPEAKER_00]: I started looking up other hotels to stay to the next night.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And my brain was like, do you mean we would leave right now? [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: And I just, I was like, what if I used to leave like five years like, oh, you would leave right now? [SPEAKER_00]: And I saw that you were like, no, we have to stay here tonight.

[SPEAKER_00]: But like, tear the whole time I was in the shower. [SPEAKER_00]: I told my mom, I was just thinking about the fact that I had just brought my beautiful pillow with me. [SPEAKER_00]: And I was going to have laid my head down on it. [SPEAKER_00]: I know. [SPEAKER_00]: And there was nothing separating me from the outside world.

[SPEAKER_00]: Like, if there was the door, yeah, he had a very flimsy deadbolt with a stained green chair that we had pushed up against it. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't know how it was stained on the headrest. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, that was wild. [SPEAKER_00]: But it was very stained. [SPEAKER_00]: That was strange.

[SPEAKER_00]: Or like all I could think about was like, there's a giant window right between me and people. [SPEAKER_00]: And I just, it would, it would, the curtain was closed, but I was like, there's nothing. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, I don't, I feel so unsafe. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not going to sleep tonight.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's what it was. [SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't about like the, the, the, the black, a cleanliness or the aesthetic. [SPEAKER_01]: It was that then in that moment, like when we got back to the hotel and we were like, it was night time. [SPEAKER_01]: I was like, okay. [SPEAKER_00]: Because anyone could walk from the street through the vestibule to our door.

[SPEAKER_00]: There was like nothing stopping anyone. [SPEAKER_00]: And it made me feel so unsafe. [SPEAKER_00]: And when you were finally talking about like, if we got another hotel, I was like, we'll live with the right now. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's I think that when we kind of like tipped into like me, there was one's to be here.

[SPEAKER_00]: But then the shouting started outside. [SPEAKER_01]: you guys like it was on cue a man just starts screaming and he was in the hotel like yeah it was like inside inside it was like the courtyard I was like inside but outside right so my room outside of our room this man is just yelling he's just going oh [SPEAKER_00]: And when it was telling words, they were having words.

[SPEAKER_01]: He was. [SPEAKER_01]: But someone else. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I heard it was fighting. [SPEAKER_01]: And Haley looks at me and we were like, is that a sign? [SPEAKER_01]: And then I started doing it again. [SPEAKER_01]: It was tough. [SPEAKER_00]: And so we called the hotel that I'm looking at.

[SPEAKER_00]: No, I call the hotel because Tara is afraid if she books on an expedient. [SPEAKER_00]: If we don't go, if we go tonight, they won't have a room. [SPEAKER_00]: So I call the front desk and the other hotel, which I asked about them. [SPEAKER_00]: I said, hey, we actually don't like our hotel.

[SPEAKER_00]: If we came right now, if we booked right now on an expedient, we came right now, would our room be there? [SPEAKER_00]: He said, yeah, you just have a hotel midnight, or if you want to tell me that you'll be here after midnight, that's okay. [SPEAKER_00]: I said, no, no, no, we'll be there.

[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, no, we'll be there in 20 minutes. [SPEAKER_01]: We just as soon as we knew that was the case, I hit book. [SPEAKER_01]: hotel Normandy. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, bless hotel Normandy. [SPEAKER_01]: We love them. [SPEAKER_01]: And again, this was not like a fart a parter from the amount of money we would have paid to be at this place.

[SPEAKER_01]: No, it was truly very affordable. [SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, it was in Korea town. [SPEAKER_00]: And it was so cute and so beautiful the chandeliers like but like we're packing up I literally have wet hair stuffing myself into like I have a hair wrapped up in a towel and we get everything together We were worried about what we were gonna say to the people at the front desk like that's what I just kept saying I'm saying I was like I don't know what to say to them when I get to the front desk like I don't believe that she was like No, you just tell them you're leaving like you don't have the problem.

[SPEAKER_00]: They didn't care. [SPEAKER_00]: They said you're leaving. [SPEAKER_01]: They didn't know [SPEAKER_00]: Ask a single question. [SPEAKER_01]: I said, no, I hate to do this, but we're gonna have to check out now and she goes, okay, okay, cool. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, didn't ask any questions. [SPEAKER_01]: Later on, but she was just like, okay, you're all set then.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, well, no, hold on a second. [SPEAKER_01]: Because my mom put her credit card down for the paid points for this, like, what is that? [SPEAKER_01]: So we ended up having a conversation with them. [SPEAKER_01]: They were super nice. [SPEAKER_01]: I will say it. [SPEAKER_01]: It just moreover was that I needed my mom to know, like, you need to call them and be like, these photos do not match what this looks like on your website.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, my mom couldn't use the same. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, like she thought that like it was I was like, no, no, that's just what that will tell. [SPEAKER_01]: It looked like up and tell about three or four years ago. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know why they changed it. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know why they won't change the images on the hotel's website.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's crazy. [SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, we get in and over. [SPEAKER_01]: We get to hotel Normandy. [SPEAKER_01]: They could not answer. [SPEAKER_00]: We walk but it was comical when we pulled up because like I told you the quote-unquote lobby of this other place where the front desk was sterile Serals could be like we could have performed surgery in this room.

[SPEAKER_00]: It was very dirty, but like very sterile [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and then we walk in, it's like wooden, it's like a historic, it's like registered in like L.A. historic society like a landmark I guess, but like in terms of the hotel, it's like wooded, there's a fountain inside, there's Shinto years and we were just like, and it smelled delicious.

[SPEAKER_01]: smelled so good and like we could literally couldn't stop like eyeing over this hotel to the front dust man and I was like do you remember me I called you he's like oh yeah we just talked yeah you just could not have been nicer they put us on the the fourth floor which was the top floor that's the thing this this hotel was not very big and it was very historic we were inside and I was like I've never been more grateful to be in so I know we walked into the [SPEAKER_01]: It was so nice.

[SPEAKER_01]: Hotel Normandy, what a lovely lovely lovely little place. [SPEAKER_00]: And the breast shot that it's attached to. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I got house made, uh, drinks like they have house made cherry coke. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm obsessed with that plumber. [SPEAKER_01]: It was even though we're near it.

[SPEAKER_01]: I want to go back next time. [SPEAKER_00]: It was so good. [SPEAKER_00]: The waiter was so, so nice because of my dairy allergy. [SPEAKER_00]: He was like so specific about what I couldn't eat. [SPEAKER_00]: And he was like trying to find me alternatives like truly the best. [SPEAKER_00]: I think it was called Couselles Couselles.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: So lovely. [SPEAKER_01]: and they had the best service, the best food. [SPEAKER_01]: It was so, so good. [SPEAKER_01]: It was kind of like giving loops in LA. [SPEAKER_01]: It was giving loops a little. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, loops goes LA. [SPEAKER_01]: It's franchise and goes to LA.

[SPEAKER_01]: I really loved it. [SPEAKER_01]: It was the best decision we made. [SPEAKER_01]: Moral of the story is, if you feel unsafe, or you feel like you're not in the right place, you need to know it. [SPEAKER_00]: Or if you're trying to team player with your friend, stop. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Unless you need to, but like in that case, like we were like friendship level on locked Never by playing the game, ever since that you said was I was like, do you want to do this?

[SPEAKER_01]: Like do we do this and you go, I'll do whatever the group wants to do and I said, well the group is you and me, is so I was trying to get you to learn and then after that, just the jokes came out. [SPEAKER_00]: I was like, you hear the Ritz Carlton. [SPEAKER_00]: This is the Ritz Cracker and it's crumbling [SPEAKER_01]: Guys, it was tough and listen, like I said, I haven't seen it in some...

[SPEAKER_01]: I have seen in some barobones hotels, like I am no... [SPEAKER_01]: I am like there's someone who can really roll with the punches. [SPEAKER_01]: I could not roll with these punches. [SPEAKER_00]: No, I got punch real hard and I didn't like it and we did not like it. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, when they did that press conference at the four seasons, but it was like the four seasons, that's kind of what happened to us.

[SPEAKER_01]: This is really what it was. [SPEAKER_01]: That's really what it was. [SPEAKER_01]: It was tough. [SPEAKER_01]: It was pretty tough. [SPEAKER_01]: So that was how we started our trip. [SPEAKER_01]: And we were instantly, we instantly acclimated to the time change because of it because we did not settle or really go to bed until almost midnight, LA time because of the happen.

[SPEAKER_01]: So we ended up kind of we didn't do it twice a day. [SPEAKER_00]: We came out of one of your girls But we had but we had such a fun time after that. [SPEAKER_00]: Like all my life like the hotel was fantastic We went to the grove Lala land of course. [SPEAKER_00]: I should have the shirt that I'm wearing from a ripped seat.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I got this little this little next car [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, cutie. [SPEAKER_00]: You will see her wearing the documentary and so like with the documentary itself like we we got there It was at a beautiful house Truly like I think that was one of my favorite parts about it. [SPEAKER_00]: It's just like being in the backyard at the house.

[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, it was really [SPEAKER_00]: nice. [SPEAKER_00]: We'll talk more about like actually what we talked about in the documentary and filming with it because we talked for about two hours, which is crazy to me because they said the documentary is going to be about 90 minutes. [SPEAKER_00]: And so knowing that they have like two hours from us, but like Kelly Bishups in it, Jared Paddlekki, Chad Michael Murray, Sally Brothers, Keiko, yeah, they have a lot [SPEAKER_00]: But then also behind the scenes, folks.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, Stan Zimmerman's and Jamie Babbit, who directed it. [SPEAKER_00]: But then there's a lot of people who like worked with the studio or Kevin T. Porter from Gilmore Guys. [SPEAKER_00]: He's in it as well. [SPEAKER_00]: There's just so many people that are a part of it that I can't even imagine what the breakdown is going to be.

[SPEAKER_00]: Because I want all two hours of Kelly Bishop. [SPEAKER_00]: Give me 60 seconds of us, you know? [SPEAKER_00]: I know. [SPEAKER_00]: how they actually pulled together the narrative. [SPEAKER_00]: I'll be very fascinated to see because maybe you and your next scarf will be there for five minutes, maybe for five seconds, who's to say, yeah, we really don't know.

[SPEAKER_01]: But we were just really honored to be included. [SPEAKER_00]: Especially as like what they wanted, like the way that they approached us is like we need people who have like pH, these and Gilmore girls if such a thing existed. [SPEAKER_00]: And I was like, if you want two people who everything Gilmore girls come to the right place, you've come to the right place.

[SPEAKER_01]: some excited yeah yeah it was really really cool so um we went out to dinner with them afterwards and you know the next day it was really just about traveling we kind of we went to Kassels and we you know got some work done and started planning and planning for the rest of the year and how much the airport like it was really just chill just quick it was it was a really quick trip but we're gonna detail our our conversation with them on Patreon so we have a whole vlog so if you [SPEAKER_01]: She did, she was like, I have to vlog this and I was like, please do.

[SPEAKER_01]: You'll see the lobby discrepancies, but it was, it was still a lot of fun, it's a story to tell. [SPEAKER_01]: We couldn't wait to tell you guys. [SPEAKER_01]: We were like, my God, I can't wait to tell the besties about our hotel experience. [SPEAKER_00]: That was the thing is that we kept saying, is this is a story?

[SPEAKER_00]: And like, this is another part of it is like we kept you like, but we're living through it. [SPEAKER_01]: I know. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so I called my mom. [SPEAKER_01]: I called my mom the next morning. [SPEAKER_01]: I like, you know, my body woke me up at like 630 in the morning because it was 9-9-930.

[SPEAKER_01]: I think I woke up actually closer to like 530 and I waited until around 6-630 to call my mom. [SPEAKER_00]: And I went, I mean, whenever you woke up, you guys went and talked in the bathroom or you took your phone into the bathroom. [SPEAKER_00]: And I heard you guys laughing. [SPEAKER_00]: You guys were laughing.

[SPEAKER_01]: So I call my mom and my sweet mom goes how is the hotel? [SPEAKER_01]: I've been I've been worried and I'm just like, well My poor mom I said well, that is the reason for my call and I explained it to her very Plenty, but she not worried that you were calling her at 6.30 in the morning.

[SPEAKER_01]: No, because for her it was nine I don't understand about it. [SPEAKER_01]: I think she was just like, oh, you're awake because why would you be? [SPEAKER_01]: I'm headed to the to the time change [SPEAKER_01]: Well, ma'am, there are many reasons, and I'm about to tell you all of them. [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I just basically was like, here's what happened.

[SPEAKER_01]: I told her. [SPEAKER_01]: And you said something very important to me, because I was like, I just feel so bad about my mom and her booking this and the points and you said, is your mom going to be more upset with you that you left a hotel that she booked, she like used points for, or that you didn't leave a situation where you felt unsafe because she booked it with points.

[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to go ahead and say, [SPEAKER_01]: You're right. [SPEAKER_01]: Let's go. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's what I told her. [SPEAKER_01]: She was like, oh my god. [SPEAKER_01]: She was like, the points, she's like, the points don't matter. [SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, yeah, it's like, who's lying?

[SPEAKER_01]: Is it anyway? [SPEAKER_01]: It's all made up of the points don't matter. [SPEAKER_00]: And she's like, we didn't make that. [SPEAKER_01]: Let's tell her. [SPEAKER_01]: Didn't know that exists. [SPEAKER_01]: Now we couldn't have, we couldn't have dreamt that up. [SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, so of course she was so cool and she immediately caught.

[SPEAKER_01]: She was like, don't worry about it. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to call him right now. [SPEAKER_01]: So she called. [SPEAKER_01]: She called them and was like, hey, you know, photos don't match what you guys have going on over there. [SPEAKER_01]: And so they definitely refunded her for the night we didn't stay.

[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what the statuses of the night we did stay. [SPEAKER_01]: And she was like, and you know what if I lose the points of those points, but she was like, my mom is a fighter. [SPEAKER_01]: My mom will like write a letter, raise hell, and be like, my mother's like, I got her. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I don't know if you've met me.

[SPEAKER_01]: But anyway, so I was like, that was actually part of the reason why we've logged was because I was like, we need to kind of like be very specific about like timestamps when we left what it looked like how it was and oh, that wasn't my vlog. [SPEAKER_01]: I was like y'all, you have to witness this with us.

[SPEAKER_01]: Totally. [SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, that's what happened. [SPEAKER_01]: That was how we started our trip, but honestly, it was great trip overall and glad we went. [SPEAKER_01]: It's always an adventure and Like that was like honestly like three hours of it like exactly it was it was whatever because like when do we just So funny to think about that we were expecting about it.

[SPEAKER_01]: I can't believe that we were just in that place [SPEAKER_00]: Honestly, after that, like I genuinely forgot about the hotel and like the worst part was that I had spent so much time ironing the pants that I was going to wear when we got to the documentary and I left them in the hotel. [SPEAKER_00]: So I didn't have any pants on, no, I'm just kidding though, but I didn't have you have to really cue It was cue, but it's just like not the outfit that I picked out.

[SPEAKER_00]: So of course, I understand What if forgetting your pants when you're already wearing pants is the most harrowing point afterwards, it's all good [SPEAKER_00]: Alicia had pants on. [SPEAKER_00]: I will say where we went to dinner afterwards. [SPEAKER_00]: I got a cauliflower pakata, which I had never even dreamed of before.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's basically the vegan version of chicken pakata, but with cauliflower. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: One of the best meals I've had in a long time. [SPEAKER_00]: Wow. [SPEAKER_00]: It was delicious. [SPEAKER_00]: And I want to try to recreate it. [SPEAKER_00]: It was so good. [SPEAKER_00]: It's basically lemon-drenched cauliflower, which famously you and I, strong advocates for the cauliflower, and add like [SPEAKER_00]: So good.

[SPEAKER_01]: So good. [SPEAKER_01]: I read you the exchange the bread and I had a call of flour the week prior when I got it I hope it's and I was like, you know, a cauliflower slaps and he was like, and yeah, it really shouldn't be as good as it is I'm sure he'll read to you all what he said because it was really really really really funny Brett the old said cauliflower is the vegetable equivalent of the Tarzan soundtrack [SPEAKER_01]: Hmm.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like 100% does not need to be that good and yet it is. [SPEAKER_01]: I said, yeah, it doesn't it doesn't look like it's going to be much and then boom it wants to know about strangers like you [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, it's like exactly that Tarzan soundtrack is so good and like on the outside You might not think it's much, but then you know like Phil Collins wrote that and it's so far Picata was the equivalent of Phil Collins, but it was just such a good trip and like that felt like so And there's honestly two days, but it felt like such like a big part of the month because like prepping for the doc and just like in reflection of it was just cool to be a part of that [SPEAKER_01]: And, uh, so I'll have more to say on Patreon.

[SPEAKER_01]: We will. [SPEAKER_01]: We will. [SPEAKER_01]: We will go into more detail. [SPEAKER_01]: But here's what I will say is that like I really love the opportunities we get to go out to LA because it's so different especially from New York and I imagine also kind of from Georgia. [SPEAKER_01]: But I'm just, I'm so not an LA girl.

[SPEAKER_01]: No, I'm just actually not a city girl. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm just a city girl. [SPEAKER_01]: I know. [SPEAKER_01]: You're a little country mouse. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm a city girl. [SPEAKER_01]: And I love living in New York. [SPEAKER_01]: Every time I go to LA, I just go, we do that. [SPEAKER_00]: We go, I don't get it.

[SPEAKER_01]: We look to the other way. [SPEAKER_01]: We might shoot. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't get it. [SPEAKER_00]: There's towns, there's parts of it. [SPEAKER_00]: There's neighborhoods that are cute. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh my gosh, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And when we went to the house to film the documentary, I was like, this is beautiful.

[SPEAKER_01]: This is gorgeous and I've got it. [SPEAKER_01]: However, I have also been to places in Connecticut and I'm staying in New York that are also equally as beautiful. [SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, so that settles that, but like Hayley said, we'll talk about more in more detail Everything that we talked about in the Gilmournal stock on Patreon and you can join us there at www.patreon.com slash Gilmour to say so for April round up We had some really fun topics this month.

[SPEAKER_01]: We talked about easter eggs. [SPEAKER_00]: I know I always think I can I like every time you say it, that's I literally all I can think about [SPEAKER_00]: What a fun, what a fun month of topics. [SPEAKER_00]: Like I know we kind of like had some new different formats. [SPEAKER_00]: We went through all of the Easter eggs.

[SPEAKER_00]: We did what was maybe one of our top performing like form mats. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, for the first time that we did it. [SPEAKER_00]: And everyone was very excited about it, which we loved. [SPEAKER_00]: The conversation around it was like not just central to like one. [SPEAKER_00]: For him, I guess, like on Instagram, the comments popped up on YouTube on Spotify.

[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you guys had so much to say about the, but he's my dean episode that we were so excited. [SPEAKER_00]: Now we want to do more episodes where we're breaking down scenes like that because that was so much fun for us. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, it was really fun for us. [SPEAKER_00]: The preparation for that was fun.

[SPEAKER_00]: Like, actually talking about it and breaking it down and seeing what each other thought, bringing like, parallels back in, like, we had such a good time with that. [SPEAKER_00]: So knowing that you guys had such a good time, which we talked about all on Tuesday, like in our episode then, but loved, love, love, love.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, loved, had a great time. [SPEAKER_01]: And then last Tuesday, we had Kenzie Elizabeth on, which was a lot of fun. [SPEAKER_01]: But she's so cool. [SPEAKER_01]: She's just such a girl's girl, and I really, really like her. [SPEAKER_01]: We posted a real on our Instagram, and I kind of want to go through some of the comments today, because she had a really hot take that we never really dissected before, which is that we as an audience, and the writers themselves kind of completely glossed over the fact that Richard didn't really care about [SPEAKER_01]: 16 years of her life.

[SPEAKER_01]: And that caused a lot of discourse on our Instagram reel that we posted about. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think he didn't care. [SPEAKER_01]: I think he was scared to get close to her because he couldn't trust Lauraly. [SPEAKER_01]: I actually think it hurt Richard and Emily very much that they couldn't be more involved.

[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe they wouldn't have been as close though if she wasn't as academically minded so that definitely has merit. [SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_00]: I agree because there was a lot of comments along those lines about he of course cared about her. [SPEAKER_00]: It was his granddaughter.

[SPEAKER_00]: It was his only granddaughter of his only daughter. [SPEAKER_00]: So of course he cared for her, but there was a gatekeeper. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, by the name of floor line. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, that's what a lot of the comments were saying. [SPEAKER_01]: They were like, why are we talking about Richard when Laura Lye was the one who kept Rory away from her grandparents?

[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't think that that's what Kenzie was saying. [SPEAKER_01]: I think what Kenzie was saying is that he loves Richard. [SPEAKER_01]: 100% she says that in the comments. [SPEAKER_00]: But I think it was more so that once they did reconnect, he was very uninterest. [SPEAKER_00]: And it's like that disinterest in her carried into their reintroduction to each other.

[SPEAKER_00]: They're like reconnection that once she came over for Friday night dinner in like episode one, he was reading the newspaper, gave her a newspaper. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_00]: And and kill me now like he had to really like be [SPEAKER_00]: convinced to go golfing with her, like almost like by threat of Emily, it wasn't like this thing where like they had her back in their life again in a meaningful way because of this this deal, the lower-life struck between the two of them and then suddenly they were like embraced her and they were so excited to learn more about her and that they just wanted to talk to her as much as they could.

[SPEAKER_00]: I wasn't like, yeah, it wasn't that vibe. [SPEAKER_00]: So it's like, yeah, there was a distinct [SPEAKER_00]: sort of gatekeeper for this, but once the gate was lowered and they had an unfettered access to her, he was kind of just like, uh, go, whatever. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the first couple of episodes.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it was Emily who was like in your face wanted to know everything was at the school but Richard was kind of like I'll get the I'll get the footnotes later totally and but it back to the question of like did Richard want to be a dad because I don't know there's a part of me that feels like maybe from a generational standpoint that like maybe [SPEAKER_01]: Richard just like didn't really care about being a dad.

[SPEAKER_01]: He didn't end up connecting to Laura Li which one of the comments here says Hannah here says he just thought where he was going to be the type of teenage girl that Laura Li was and not be interested in being there conversing with him. [SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't about oh she's actually smart it was like oh we're actually getting along and having a nice time.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I wonder if, like, I would love to know if Richard felt excited about being a dad. [SPEAKER_01]: And maybe he was, and he was a little disappointed in the fact that he and Laura Lied didn't feel like they could connect on things. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, we hear about him being very excited that she would come running into his room and steal his diploma and be like, I'm going to go to Yale one day.

[SPEAKER_01]: You know, that seemed to make him very proud. [SPEAKER_01]: But did he really ever want to be a dad? [SPEAKER_00]: I think he did. [SPEAKER_00]: I think in the sense that, like, Richard Gilmourn legacy really is important to him and the Gilmourn name. [SPEAKER_00]: And I think he wanted to carry that on.

[SPEAKER_00]: And whether or not that's like the right reason to become a parent, he, like, I don't think he saw another option other than taking the Gilmourn name forward that it probably, I mean, even so much as like Christopher returns when he kind of [SPEAKER_00]: I think that he, it did not turn out the way that he wanted it to, but I don't think that he didn't want her as a daughter.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I just, I just bring that up because it's like a do-thing that that sometimes informs the kind of grandparents you are, where it's just like if you were a disinterested father, are you going to be a disinterested grandparents, subsequently, you know, the only thing that's going to be your interest is connection, which is understandable, human connection is valuable, like we can't discredit it.

[SPEAKER_01]: But there were people in the comments that were like, well, what kind of dad was he? [SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, oh, that's a really, really, we need that prequel! [SPEAKER_01]: Valid question because you know what, for all intents and purposes, maybe he expected to have a son and he didn't.

[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, Laura, like, came along and she was not only like not the son that maybe he was hoping to have, but like, was kind of the, and hit the son of a son. [SPEAKER_00]: Mm, for sure. [SPEAKER_01]: It was kind of the antithesis of what he had laid out for her. [SPEAKER_01]: And then Christopher comes along and it's like, oh, okay, well, that's what I wanted.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's more like it, but then that still doesn't work out. [SPEAKER_01]: That's why he has such admiration for Christopher. [SPEAKER_01]: to be fair Emily does as well, but I do think that that boils more down to the fact that he was willing to go along with their diagnostic plan. [SPEAKER_01]: We just seem to have a lot of, you know, affection towards Logan, towards, you know, when they meet Tristan, but I think that's about wealth, it's about, you know, family breeding.

[SPEAKER_01]: So it's multi-layered, but it just beg to the question for me of like, you know, when people in the comments were like, well, what kind of dad was he to [SPEAKER_01]: axe when it comes to his interest in worry. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think that it's a supervalid argument, but we'll never know, you know, because we, I mean, we do get like some insight into it.

[SPEAKER_00]: I just think that he was probably standoffish until he needed to be until I'm only was like stepping, say something. [SPEAKER_00]: that it probably fell mostly to Emily, like just in the way that their relationship takes inner stage way more than for a lie in Richard. [SPEAKER_00]: It really just seems like when disappointment is to be had Richard kind of steps in to do so, but Emily is just like there in the day today.

[SPEAKER_00]: And I feel like that's probably reflective of how she was raised. [SPEAKER_00]: It's also probably very reflective of how he was expecting to father that like the mother does this and the father [SPEAKER_00]: And after dinner, or during dinner, that's when you get to know your child, that there's like a strong disconnect with the times.

[SPEAKER_01]: Totally fair. [SPEAKER_01]: Someone here said, I think this dynamic is typical of men from his generation. [SPEAKER_01]: They don't show a ton of interest in their progeny unless they're men continuing the family legacy, which is why I brought up having a son. [SPEAKER_01]: However, he was intelligent, shared similar interests, etc.

[SPEAKER_01]: Someone else said, I think it was when she took interest in him, and I was asking about what he does. [SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, because they go on to say, I think he already knew she was smart. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's the thing is that like, Laura, that was smart. [SPEAKER_01]: So being smart really doesn't have too much to do with why he was interested in her.

[SPEAKER_00]: But you can be smart but not academically inclined, fair. [SPEAKER_00]: That's, she's like just married. [SPEAKER_00]: That yeah, they had very similar interests and like which is rare for a 16 year old and like what how old was he in his 50s? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's not it's not every day that like you're having a conversation about the same interests that you have with your granddaughter and your grandfather in that regard in this and the way that like Richard his interest success [SPEAKER_00]: But it wasn't until they connected in that way.

[SPEAKER_00]: He wasn't going out of his way to make connections with her. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, I don't even remember in the Friday night dinners that they had before. [SPEAKER_00]: That golfing incident, if he actually talked to her, it was more of like him talking to Laurel. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, yeah, he says, Rory, you're tall.

[SPEAKER_01]: Laura, you're tall, that's really it. [SPEAKER_00]: I feel like the comments addressing the fact that like Laura, I was keeping her from them. [SPEAKER_00]: But like once it opened up, yeah, he wasn't rushing to get there. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, someone here says he was not an interested, he was estranged, and that is very different.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I do agree with that. [SPEAKER_01]: I think that the point that Kenzie was trying to make is that like, we get a lot of Emily being like, I thought about this every day. [SPEAKER_01]: I like you took that girl and you ran away from me and we don't get that from Richard. [SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's more what she was drawing attention to.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's not saying like, oh, it's Richard's fault that he didn't have a relationship with his granddaughter. [SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's how a lot of people in these comments took what she said. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: It was like we just glossed over the fact that Richard didn't seem to wonder about her or ask about her or care about her in that way.

[SPEAKER_01]: Whereas Emily does speak to her feelings over the last 16 years of how hard that was for her. [SPEAKER_00]: And maybe not care about her. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I think that Richard speaks to Emily's feelings less his own. [SPEAKER_01]: He's always saying, like, your mother couldn't get out of bed for a month, did you know that?

[SPEAKER_01]: Like, yeah, he really does zero more in on Emily and how she felt. [SPEAKER_01]: And I do think that that's like a man thing. [SPEAKER_01]: He's very protective. [SPEAKER_00]: If she wants the first cup of tea, she's going to get the first cup of tea. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, but also not to like, not share his feelings.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's so rory. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's true. [SPEAKER_00]: Mike, it's Emily. [SPEAKER_00]: She's going to tell you everything she feels. [SPEAKER_00]: Or lie. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, tell you everything you she feels. [SPEAKER_00]: Richard's going to tell you everything that Emily feels.

[SPEAKER_00]: Or lie. [SPEAKER_00]: She's going to tell you what rory feels. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, who's not going to tell you how they feel. [SPEAKER_00]: Richard, or rory. [SPEAKER_00]: So I just felt a lot of these comments are very much people like defending each other. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they're all valid, but I think that they all have to come with a like, touch of grass moment.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, like let's come back to the narrative. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's come out to like what's happening here. [SPEAKER_00]: There was someone who commented something along with lines of like people overthinking. [SPEAKER_00]: No more girls is painful. [SPEAKER_00]: And I was like, maybe you're in the wrong place.

[SPEAKER_00]: How did you get here? [SPEAKER_00]: Back up. [SPEAKER_00]: So I read that comment. [SPEAKER_01]: The way people overthink Gilmore rolls is painful is what Tiger Lily 2-5-2 says. [SPEAKER_01]: I love you said. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what you're doing here, that. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's what we do.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's quite simply all we do. [SPEAKER_00]: You're in the wrong people. [SPEAKER_00]: You go start your podcast on the government. [SPEAKER_00]: You go through everything. [SPEAKER_01]: But anyway, I wanted to kind of have a little retrospect on our latest topic, which was Richard Gilmore, [SPEAKER_01]: seemingly a lot of us glossing over is an audience and the writer's glossing over the fact that I think that what we zero in and on with Richard and Emily specifically is the shame that they felt around their daughter getting pregnant at 16 and the expectations they had set out for her lore lie.

[SPEAKER_01]: Emily is the one that tends to be like I wanted to get to know my granddaughter and you took that away for me and Richard never speaks to that so I think she was drawing a tension to that in a way that I found very fascinating. [SPEAKER_00]: Very fascinating and like few of some of the episodes she loves her [SPEAKER_00]: She wants to get a giant ass portrait of that man for her next part of it and I want to go to that so bad Like I want her to she wanted to like recreate her dining room to be like Emily and Retrids and I was like yeah I'm one way to get like I was like absolutely To be a house guest please two house guests, please Absolutely [SPEAKER_00]: And I do definitely want to like, we're gonna try and do a Dallas event.

[SPEAKER_00]: We'll see, cross your fingers that it works out, but I think that would be so much fun. [SPEAKER_01]: But April was really fun. [SPEAKER_01]: I loved the topics that we really took a dive into. [SPEAKER_01]: It was really, really good time. [SPEAKER_00]: I love it, y'all loved them, too.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, oh my gosh. [SPEAKER_01]: I was really, really hoping that our script analysis episode would go over well and you guys would see it. [SPEAKER_01]: See, to our expectations with how much, like how well you received it. [SPEAKER_01]: So think you're always taking the new things that we choose to do and welcoming them in [SPEAKER_01]: Can be really scary when you've been doing this podcast for we've been doing it now for four and a half years and it's just like oh my gosh If we change something up or they're gonna like it or they're gonna hate it and between that and the marvelous Mrs. Mays will recap that we've been doing on patreon which has been received so warmly by you guys and we love you all so much

[SPEAKER_00]: You're what keeps this podcast going so it's just absolutely Port means the world to us absolutely and if there are other scenes that you want like the script analysis like my Biling Breakdown, please comment that Instagram YouTube wherever so that we can see what you want to see or Yeah, we've already gotten a few but I want to hear from you guys.

[SPEAKER_01]: I mean we I might put an Instagram story poll or story [SPEAKER_01]: uh, question box up because I did it for our first one like, hey, if we did a, it like a line line of analysis, what would you guys want to see? [SPEAKER_01]: And there were a lot of suggestions, but now that we've actually done one and like they know what the format is, I wonder if we'll get some different answers, you know?

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I wonder. [SPEAKER_01]: I want to find any way, we're kicking off May, the month of May, which may, may, may, yes, oh my god, that game is going to be [SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_01]: So have fun with that. [SPEAKER_01]: But the month of May is going to be a lot of fun. [SPEAKER_01]: We've really, it's so funny because we were like, oh, March is going to be crazy.

[SPEAKER_01]: May we have so many plans for what is April going to be? [SPEAKER_01]: And then April ended up being really, really fun. [SPEAKER_01]: So that was something you're going to do. [SPEAKER_01]: It always does. [SPEAKER_01]: But May is going to be so much fun because we're going to have a mom card episode, which I'm really excited about.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be the 25th anniversary of Love Daisy's Intrubedore. [SPEAKER_01]: So we have some really fun merch ideas. [SPEAKER_01]: And we'll talk about that more in next week's episode. [SPEAKER_00]: You're never going to have a script analysis from a scene that feels very important.

[SPEAKER_00]: May feels like Mother's Daughters and Daisy's. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, Mother's Daughters and Daisy's am I. Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm excited. [SPEAKER_01]: But Tuesday's episode, we talked about Lorelighten Lane's upbringing a couple months ago and we really broke down the ways in which we feel like their lives were paralleled throughout the series, the history of Lorelighten, the current events of Lane's life.

[SPEAKER_01]: And it brought to light the parenting tactics of Mrs. Kim and Emily, but we really wanted to talk about the parenting tactics of Mrs. Kim and Lorelighten. [SPEAKER_01]: And we'll have more to say on that in the next episode.
