[SPEAKER_00]: Five, six, seven, eight Christmas special. [SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about what the Gilmore girls Christmas special could be. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, a very special Christmas. [SPEAKER_01]: Here we go. [SPEAKER_01]: Hi everybody, welcome back to Gilmour Disay with Tara and Haley. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm Tara, this is Haley.
[SPEAKER_01]: Hi, Haley. [SPEAKER_01]: Hi, Tara. [SPEAKER_01]: Happy Holidays. [SPEAKER_01]: Happy Holidays. [SPEAKER_01]: It's the holiday season. [SPEAKER_01]: It is the holiday season. [SPEAKER_01]: And what better time to talk about the potential Christmas special that's been swirling around Lauren Graham's mind and interviews all season long.
[SPEAKER_00]: that girl loves to drop something to send chaos. [SPEAKER_01]: She loves it. [SPEAKER_01]: Speaking of dropping chaos, but like good chaos. [SPEAKER_00]: Good chaos. [SPEAKER_00]: This is okay. [SPEAKER_00]: So this is like two weeks ago at this point for y'all, but it was yesterday for us.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's actually on my birthday. [SPEAKER_01]: it was on Haley's birthday. [SPEAKER_01]: It was crazy that this like so many good things dropped on your birthday. [SPEAKER_01]: First of all, it was your birthday. [SPEAKER_01]: Also, it was Spotify wrapped like wrapped day. [SPEAKER_01]: So we have getting all of these, you know, DMs and and tags from people who were getting us on their Spotify wrapped to hear the number of minutes people.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, is it really like some in the thousand? [SPEAKER_00]: So I was like, you've listened to me for 7,000 minutes. [SPEAKER_00]: I know. [SPEAKER_01]: I know. [SPEAKER_01]: There were some [SPEAKER_01]: I love it. [SPEAKER_01]: I love to see it. [SPEAKER_01]: It's always one of our favorite days to meet how people, you know, where we kind of fall on the roster of podcasts and the other podcasts that people listen to who also listen to us.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's really cool. [SPEAKER_01]: I know. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I love that part of it that like you can kind of see what what work kind of like niche and yeah, and like without really being in a niche total. [SPEAKER_00]: Just kind of what the girlies listen to.
[SPEAKER_00]: I love that part of it totally. [UNKNOWN]: Oh [SPEAKER_00]: But if you don't know what we're talking about, maybe we're breaking this news to you because you're not on Instagram or whatever. [SPEAKER_00]: But Lauren Graham and Amy Shroom Palandino are teaming up to write a book. [SPEAKER_00]: The caption that Lauren Graham posted was, because we love you, Amy and I are working on a new Gilmore Girls book.
[SPEAKER_00]: Get your coffee ready, which is felt like it was directed personally to each of us in the video. [SPEAKER_00]: I know, because we love the way that you go. [SPEAKER_00]: I love you too. [SPEAKER_00]: Me? [SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, I love you too. [SPEAKER_00]: I love you both so much. [SPEAKER_00]: You love it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like on my birthday. [SPEAKER_00]: It was like, I was like, but when we didn't realize, was that it was like announced on the today show. [SPEAKER_00]: So I have a little bit of like the press release of what was revealed about it and kind of what is going to be because I was like, is this going to be a chapter book?
[SPEAKER_00]: Is this going to be a picture book? [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: Why is it going to be a teller? [SPEAKER_00]: I like the, yeah, what is this drama? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to read to you what? [SPEAKER_00]: people.com posted from the today's show. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, we love media.
[SPEAKER_00]: Love. [SPEAKER_00]: It's they said we can exclusively announce an untitled book is in the works taking readers behind the scenes of the beloved series. [SPEAKER_00]: And while of course the book will be coming in the fall it's not scheduled for release until fall 2027. [SPEAKER_00]: So it's not coming next year.
[SPEAKER_00]: I imagine they're in the process of writing it according to a press release obtained by people which we then obtained from people. [SPEAKER_00]: We, as people, obtained from people, we obtained this. [SPEAKER_00]: The book, when we published, was, I think, it's sell it on books, and we'll take readers behind the curtain of Gilmore Girls revealing how a small town dramedy with a mile a minute dialogue became a cultural touchstone.
[SPEAKER_00]: Through a blend of sharp wit, personal reflection, and never before shared stories. [SPEAKER_00]: Lauren Graham and Amy Sherman Paladino offer an intimate behind-the-scenes portrait of the creative partnership and the spark that defined the lower-like Yomor and the world of stars hollow.
[SPEAKER_00]: Along the way they revisit unforgettable moments from the set capturing the humor, heart, and alchemy that has made the series an enduring classic. [SPEAKER_00]: Lauren said, I'm thrilled to collaborate with Amy to bring readers, all of our stories of the special years we spent filming, Gilmore Rose the first and second time, and then Amy said, I would jump at any chance to collaborate with Lauren Graham on anything via a boozy broads launch at Joe Allen's or writing an actual book.
[SPEAKER_00]: The answer will always be yes. [SPEAKER_00]: I find myself wanting to be permanently linked to her side forever, not sure it's healthy for either of us, but it's just a reality of the situation. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, like we're behind the scenes. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's so emotional because it's just crying, guys.
[SPEAKER_00]: I thought it was fumbling through that. [SPEAKER_01]: It's just so cool. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Like when [SPEAKER_01]: when you've read the part about it like being a small town like cozy, you know, fast-talking show to a cultural phenomenon. [SPEAKER_01]: It's like they made that, they made that magic together, and it still lives on.
[SPEAKER_01]: And we sometimes talk about that when it comes to our podcast, we're like, are we going to run them? [SPEAKER_01]: I think so talk about and we're not because the show just continues to live on and on and on and on. [SPEAKER_01]: And this is also one of the reasons that it will is because they're going to continue to work together and do things together.
[SPEAKER_01]: as long as they can. [SPEAKER_01]: I love that. [SPEAKER_00]: So we have to talk about it for as long as we can. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, we just kind of like read their co-tales like in like a stalker's, I mean, I'm saying a no stalker's start with. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like for yourself, babe.
[SPEAKER_00]: In a not stalker's sort of way. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like we so much like if they're going to be giving us a couple of content, we're going to be commentating on the content. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: But I just think it's so fun that like it's of course [SPEAKER_00]: Um, I'm really, really interested in how they're going to format it because anytime you're like collaborating on a book like there's two authors, I'm interested how that's going to come about like if it's going to be like Lauren telling a story with Amy interjecting into it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, like maybe there's going to be like Amy annotations and the Lauren essays or like vice versa or like if they're going to be writing it together like genuinely like how they're going to differentiate for the reader what's like an Amy story, what's a Lauren story, what's some, [SPEAKER_00]: Like remembering something together, so I'm really fascinated with how that's going to come about in terms of the format itself because it just really seems like a reflection.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's really what it is. [SPEAKER_01]: Like totally, a Gilmore girls memoir of the show itself, which is amazing, especially after Kelly's release last year of the third Gilmore, how phenomenal that book was. [SPEAKER_01]: And she's taking us behind the scenes, really taking us back, taking us through her story.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm really intrigued to see if, and I know that they can capture the same kind of energy in a book together. [SPEAKER_00]: I know, and here's the thing, here's the tea, here's the drama. [SPEAKER_00]: Do you think we're going to get her perspective on leaving the show after season six? [SPEAKER_00]: I do think she's gonna, that's like the tell-all need to outfit that I feel like.
[SPEAKER_00]: I want her to just like full-send, tell-as-everything, put the email receipts in, you know, like real drama. [SPEAKER_00]: I think she would go that far. [SPEAKER_01]: But Amy is a pretty brazen chick. [SPEAKER_01]: She might. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, she might. [SPEAKER_01]: And honestly, I'll be right there plotting her.
[SPEAKER_00]: You're like, tell us, release the emails like it's just like redacted. [SPEAKER_00]: Like there's just various names redacted, but like I would I would love it. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, yeah, it's my question. [SPEAKER_01]: That's what it is. [SPEAKER_01]: Is that I wonder if this now kind of side steps.
[SPEAKER_01]: the prospect of what we're going to talk about today, this Christmas special, because I imagined that, you know, in a tell all, you know, you want to kind of share all like the behind-the-scenes details without necessarily burning any bridges. [SPEAKER_01]: And I know that the WB and Amy and Dan as a duo, you know, couldn't reach an agreement back in 2006.
[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't know if they'll want to necessarily spill all about that, because there's a possibility of building [SPEAKER_01]: I just wonder if this is now kind of the sign that the tease of, like, I'd love to do a Christmas special straight line with a boy to say it. [SPEAKER_01]: We're stuck on it.
[SPEAKER_00]: I know. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, wait. [SPEAKER_01]: No, wait. [SPEAKER_01]: Because honestly, I would love to get both. [SPEAKER_01]: But that's what we're here to talk about today. [SPEAKER_01]: Of course, we planned this episode before this announcement. [SPEAKER_01]: came to be yesterday and we were kind of really excited to use on the possibility of what a Christmas special could look like if they were to come out with it next year in 2026 and because I really honestly once Lauren said it, I was like it's happening.
[SPEAKER_01]: She said it. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: As soon as I know that was like it's going to happen because when you will want to say yeah I will do it. [SPEAKER_00]: It's not healthy for either of them, but she's going to stick by her side Yeah, so if Lauren is saying it like you're telling me that that there's not an Amy Lauren Kelly group chat Oh, there's so is Alexis probably is in it, but doesn't respond Always you know like this.
[SPEAKER_00]: I was always going to be a silent member of the group chat I'm actually going to be her, but like it's like Christmas special girlies. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you know, maybe I I [SPEAKER_01]: I could see it, but especially because she's working on this Eloise. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, I know that was easy to do and now she's working on the book, I'm like, maybe, but I don't I need her to stop like making my dreams come true, honestly, because like honestly, my Eloise purse is right here, like I'm so excited because here's the thing, she's so perfectly primed to do an Eloise movie because like Eloise is like kind of like so percosious and like smarter [SPEAKER_00]: I will say very hesitant to hear that Ryan Reynolds is a part of it, you know, because the focus of Eloise has to be Eloise.
[SPEAKER_00]: She has to be the center of it. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And I just don't, as I can Eloise enthusiast, like Ryan Reynolds humor, I've just never, I like he'd really have to step into a different version of himself to really fit into the Eloise world that I have in my mind that also exists in the real world because it's not just in my mind.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm very fascinated because the adults can't be the center of the story. [SPEAKER_00]: It's Eloise. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, just a city trip. [SPEAKER_00]: She's six. [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Very fascinating. [SPEAKER_00]: Very fascinated. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know how that's going to go guilty until proven innocent.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we'll see. [SPEAKER_01]: We'll see what happens. [SPEAKER_01]: I feel like everything Amy touches is pretty magical. [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm sure it's going to be fantastic. [SPEAKER_00]: But what do we love to have all of it? [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, that's the fact that we're going to We're going to firmly believe like 10 host down that a Christmas special is going to happen.
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's pretend that it's happening next year. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's something we want to talk about today. [SPEAKER_00]: We can I say one more thing though. [SPEAKER_00]: No, this is maybe a little drama. [SPEAKER_00]: This is maybe a little drama of me, you know, I'm not trying to certainly drama, um, but I don't love to start like that, but it just reminds me of this this Christmas special idea came about from the Red Carpet at the Emmys because of course all of the Gamarko's actors always get asked about a year in the life to, you know, to year two life from the fast and furious style.
[SPEAKER_00]: But none of them seemed like to like ever be like gung-ho for it. [SPEAKER_00]: So she was like, why are we talking about that? [SPEAKER_00]: Let's do a Christmas special. [SPEAKER_00]: Like US shows don't have enough Christmas specials the way that UK shows do. [SPEAKER_00]: And like, that was great.
[SPEAKER_00]: But they also asked her if she was going to be a part of the unofficial documentary that was being made. [SPEAKER_00]: And she said she would only do what her creator, which she made it seem like Amy Sherman Paladin. [SPEAKER_00]: It was God, which I loved. [SPEAKER_00]: But that she would fall along with Amy.
[SPEAKER_00]: And Amy wasn't a part of it, so it seemed like Lauren wouldn't be. [SPEAKER_00]: Do we feel like this book is kind of their response to that happening that they kind of want to tell this story, this like female lead story on their own terms in the book that maybe they didn't feel comfortable getting on screen and letting someone else decide what the narrative of the show was?
[SPEAKER_00]: And doing it themselves without having to like go through the WB or Netflix or all these other things and I'm sure like people will have their own say on what happens in the book But like I don't know what the deal that was struck was, but maybe this is their own way of being able to be a little bit more in control of the reflection of it [SPEAKER_01]: You are saying all of the things that I was running through my head about five minutes ago because I was like, do I want to bring this up?
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if I want to bring this up because she did say, you know, she's been asked. [SPEAKER_01]: Are you going to be a part of this documentary? [SPEAKER_01]: And she said, I don't do anything that my creator's not a part of. [SPEAKER_01]: And when this book was announced, I was like, [SPEAKER_01]: get it girls because we don't know.
[SPEAKER_01]: We don't know if they were asked. [SPEAKER_00]: We don't know if you know, I don't really know much about the situation because I know Kelly's in it. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Like I know she's a part of it and I know that there's a lot of like big characters from it that were a part of it.
[SPEAKER_00]: But I think I'm more fascinated from the inside of it. [SPEAKER_00]: Like the inside perspective from there. [SPEAKER_00]: per view. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, 100% from them controlling the narrative. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, because that's the thing is I imagine as a filmmaker, which Amy is I feel like it's probably really challenging to relinquish that control over telling like obviously she just [SPEAKER_01]: tons of interviews and those get edited down and you know presented to the public, but it's a little different when it's a documentary and not one that you're making about your own piece.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't know if that has like not someone who has a personal connection to you and maybe not where I don't know what their connection is to the show in general. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't either. [SPEAKER_00]: So like, I just feel like this is like definitely something more of what I would want.
[SPEAKER_00]: to hear from like their inside perspective. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the idea of what they think of this as a cultural touch zone because I think that like the outside perspective has been spoken to so much and think pieces and articles, especially with the 25th anniversary happening, that I'm kind of, I'm like, I'm kind of good on it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like I understand it, we talk about it a lot. [SPEAKER_00]: We asked about it a lot that like I'm I'm ready for the inside perspective from the the leading women. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: One hundred percent. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm sad it's not happening till 2027.
[SPEAKER_01]: I know a lot of people are there. [SPEAKER_01]: They're going to make us wait until 2027, but honestly... [SPEAKER_01]: I think it's great. [SPEAKER_01]: Now, we have more than we were to watch it out. [SPEAKER_00]: That's the thing we have something to look forward to. [SPEAKER_01]: I think that we were looking forward to the 25th anniversary of the show for a while and along the way, it got some really fun little Easter eggs and gifts like Kelly's Bung.
[SPEAKER_01]: The reunions, like the Amy Sherman Paladino multiverse event that we went to earlier this year. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, nearly fast in LA. [SPEAKER_01]: Like stuff like that. [SPEAKER_00]: Emmy's reunion. [SPEAKER_01]: Like they've given us [SPEAKER_01]: the surprise little gift so long the way.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is just another one that we have to look forward to. [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm excited to see if there are any more that come down the pipeline because the public understands that Gilmore Girls is a phenomenon and it is still living on and more popular than it's ever been as the years pass by.
[SPEAKER_01]: So I love it. [SPEAKER_01]: I love that they're taking control of the narrative. [SPEAKER_01]: They're writing their own book. [SPEAKER_01]: They're doing it together. [SPEAKER_01]: I love their friendship. [SPEAKER_01]: I know there's something special about that. [SPEAKER_00]: It reminds me of Lauren's Hollywood Walk of Fame.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it was like I'll forgive you for being a writer. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, like for stepping into my lane and being so good at it, that's like immediately what I thought of. [SPEAKER_00]: She was like, I feel like maybe like they were already brewing the idea then. [SPEAKER_00]: when she mentioned it.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah, possibly, that was like the only one I thought of. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's great. [SPEAKER_00]: But that was just my thought. [SPEAKER_01]: No, I'm, I'm so with you on that. [SPEAKER_00]: That was dramatic. [SPEAKER_00]: Was that too drama? [SPEAKER_01]: No, I don't think so.
[SPEAKER_01]: I had the very same thought. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, very same thought. [SPEAKER_01]: But I was in her food wanted to bring it up. [SPEAKER_01]: And then we did, how about it up? [SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, so we're going to pretend as if this holiday special is happening, whether it's next year or in the years to come, maybe that's another time to have a similar story too.
[SPEAKER_01]: But it would be very fitting for a tap in 10 years after a year in the life premiered in 2026. [SPEAKER_01]: So we asked to happen next year, no, listen, do you know why? [SPEAKER_00]: Tell me, do you know what day Christmas falls on in 2026? [SPEAKER_00]: It's a Friday. [SPEAKER_00]: You're telling me we're not going to get a Friday night dinner special.
[SPEAKER_00]: Wow next year Friday night dinner Christmas special. [SPEAKER_00]: That could be really fun. [SPEAKER_00]: That would be fucking amazing. [SPEAKER_00]: So like that's all I could think about because I was like, whoa, will you? [SPEAKER_00]: Is it on a Friday? [SPEAKER_00]: I was like, it's a surprise.
[SPEAKER_00]: Wow. [SPEAKER_00]: Wow. [SPEAKER_00]: The calendar. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: So we're going to pretend like it's happening. [SPEAKER_01]: And we're going to kind of use over what a very Gilmore holiday special would look like. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: So we asked all of you on the merrier.
[SPEAKER_01]: Gilmore the merrier. [SPEAKER_01]: Wow. [SPEAKER_01]: I love that. [SPEAKER_01]: We could really do so much with after we, after you can talk to Gilmore to say in your mind, I was like, man, we can run with that for forever and ever. [SPEAKER_01]: Amen. [SPEAKER_01]: So, we're going to love.
[SPEAKER_01]: We asked you guys on Instagram. [SPEAKER_01]: We put up a couple of question boxes about must-have's must-sees in a Christmas special and what if scenarios for Christmas special. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, all of these special. [SPEAKER_01]: So, what we're going to do is kind of discuss those as we move through, but I want to start with where we left and [SPEAKER_01]: the Gilmour Girls and the Gilmour Girls universe at the end of a year in the life.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, Laura Lyon Luke just got married. [SPEAKER_01]: Worried is writing the Gilmour Girls and reveals that she is pregnant after Luke and Laura Lyon married. [SPEAKER_01]: Laura Lyon has given worry her blessing to write Gilmour Girls. [SPEAKER_01]: And Lorelei is also expanding the Dragonfly because Michelle wants to run a spa.
[SPEAKER_01]: She now has found the location. [SPEAKER_01]: She has gotten the money from Emily, who is now living in Nantucket after selling her house in Hartford. [SPEAKER_01]: And the agreement is to bring Luke to Nantucket for two weeks every summer and one week at Christmas in exchange for the funds needed to expand the Dragonfly.
[SPEAKER_01]: Emily works at the Nantucket Wailing Museum and Bertha lives with her out there. [SPEAKER_01]: So that is kind of the in a nutshell where we left everybody to kind of uses a jumping off point for where they could 10 years later, like the main players. [SPEAKER_00]: I also had a just as pining.
[SPEAKER_00]: What I have just is doing, we never really landed firmly on what just is doing, but he's pining. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, Logan was engaged at last. [SPEAKER_00]: I published. [SPEAKER_00]: I was engaged. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, finding you publishing. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: Logan is engaged to Odat.
[SPEAKER_01]: He and worry have kind of had this silent agreement that they're going to leave their relationship at that in a new Hampshire, a new Hampshire Vermont. [SPEAKER_01]: New Hampshire, I think. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, right? [SPEAKER_01]: Sure. [SPEAKER_01]: It's a New England.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's somewhere up in New England. [SPEAKER_01]: So they leave things there. [SPEAKER_01]: But of course, the insinuation is that Logan is the father of a race baby. [SPEAKER_01]: But there are a lot of people who want a year in the life too, or this Christmas special, something to confirm.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, in fact, this is the story we're telling Logan is the father of the baby. [SPEAKER_01]: And we'll see how things unfold from there. [SPEAKER_01]: But the insinuation was that history was going to quote, kind of repeat itself. [SPEAKER_01]: which is what I find fascinating about the possibility of a Christmas special happening at all, but happening, like, say next year, because at this point, thinking about where they may be are now, worry is mom and her daughter, which, or say, or son, but remember what Amy and Lauren talked about, you were there for that, that interview that they did.
[SPEAKER_00]: Didn't say they [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, Lauren, I think she said that she would be called Lola, is that what it was? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, um, that she's Lola the fourth. [SPEAKER_00]: She'd be called Lola, which is cute. [SPEAKER_00]: Lola, I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know why I just said that, but it would be potentially a daughter, but we also mentioned it being a son in it being Richard the second little Richard, which I said she already famously one of those, but there's always a little Richard, it's already a little Richard, but [SPEAKER_00]: different.
[SPEAKER_00]: But I do think it would be a girl. [SPEAKER_00]: But it would be like such a reveal. [SPEAKER_00]: Like I feel like it's one of those things like with the revival, with the year in the life and like those like sound clips from the series popping up, you were kind of just anticipating and waiting for the reveal of Loreline Roy in my opinion, like it was really just them.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then as we went through, the reveal of other characters came through in different ways. [SPEAKER_00]: Love. [SPEAKER_00]: But I think everyone [SPEAKER_01]: And that's a thing that she's nine. [SPEAKER_01]: She's going to be 10. [SPEAKER_01]: That's like around the same age that worry and lower line moved into the lower lies.
[SPEAKER_01]: How's so there's something kind of poetic about that? [SPEAKER_01]: Because we never, we heard a lot about that time. [SPEAKER_01]: We didn't get to see it. [SPEAKER_01]: And so I think it would be really cool to show Lola being, I'm going to call her Lola for the purposes of this episode.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're just going to refer to her as Lola. [SPEAKER_01]: She was a show girl. [SPEAKER_01]: famously, and the life of a show girl is Lola, Worries Donna. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this is what the Christmas special is called. [SPEAKER_01]: It's not a copyright infringement at all. [SPEAKER_01]: No, not at all.
[SPEAKER_01]: But I think seeing her run around town and being so beloved by the town and my question for you is do you think Worries and Lola live in Star's Hollow? [SPEAKER_00]: I think yes. [SPEAKER_00]: I think yes too, as we get into the what ifs, I think that's part of some of the drama that occurs, but I think that she lives in stars hollow.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think that she's writing her books there. [SPEAKER_00]: I think she is books like plural at this point. [SPEAKER_00]: Really? [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so do you think she really saw through Gilmort rolls? [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, and what do you think, kind of? [SPEAKER_01]: I think it was successful.
[SPEAKER_01]: Do you think it became a TV show? [SPEAKER_01]: And then a revival? [SPEAKER_00]: I would like truly genuinely love to step into Star's Hollow and realize that like this is a fictional town where the TV show actually came from like we actually kind of exist in the world of Star's Hollow.
[SPEAKER_00]: The only caveat that I will give to it is that they wouldn't be able to have [SPEAKER_00]: famously. [SPEAKER_01]: So, and famously, famously on famously here's my proposal to you, I'm getting into kind of the what if not necessarily the what ifs that have been submitted by the bestie is just my personal musings.
[SPEAKER_01]: What if Rory in, you know, all of the [SPEAKER_01]: Chaos is the wrong word, but just kind of the whirlwind of, the right word, finding out that she's pregnant, unexpectedly. [SPEAKER_01]: She puts the book down. [SPEAKER_01]: She doesn't finish it. [SPEAKER_01]: Because she's so focused on being a mom, raising a daughter, moving through the early stages of motherhood, that when we're revisiting her here, nine, 10 years later, [SPEAKER_01]: And interesting that she really disappointed in her.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it would be fitting though, given where we, what we had from a year in the life. [SPEAKER_00]: I know, I know, but I don't, I don't know what her story line would be if, because like, I do like that, I like that theoretically. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't like how much time has passed. [SPEAKER_01]: Do you know her?
[SPEAKER_01]: Or? [SPEAKER_01]: Or? [SPEAKER_01]: Or? [SPEAKER_01]: What if she wrote Gilmore Girls? [SPEAKER_01]: But she never published it. [SPEAKER_01]: And Jess has been like encouraging her to publish this book. [SPEAKER_00]: She's published another book. [SPEAKER_01]: She's just into this. [SPEAKER_01]: I think Jess, I think Jess would publish her books.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think the key runs a printing press. [SPEAKER_01]: I think he would be the reason that she has published works, is because that's, and that's their relationship. [SPEAKER_01]: It's kind of business, but, you know, obviously they go way back. [SPEAKER_01]: They have a lot of history. [SPEAKER_01]: But I think for the most part, it's that they have a [SPEAKER_01]: seemingly strict working relationship, but the reason that they have that relationship is because Jess will do anything for Rory and Rory will do anything to become a published writer.
[SPEAKER_01]: So I kind of like the idea of her having done like all like having published books and it's like she's doing okay, but Jess is the one who is like, you know what book would be really great and so really well and she's like, I'm still not running a publish it and he's like, okay, but you [SPEAKER_00]: You know what, I wonder if art could imitate life and the last successful thing that Roy did was right, Gilmore Girls, and then she's, it's like in the reflection of Amy of like, she's in this kind of metaphor where he's trying to write her nasal, like she's like, she hasn't had anything [SPEAKER_00]: work like that sold maybe like maybe there's like an agent character.
[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like Amy would love to write an agent character like a literary agent just [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: I feel like that's in her wheelhouse somewhere to write that sort of character. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that like she's there's like a maybe like a resurgence. [SPEAKER_00]: So maybe it's like a anniversary year of this book being released and there needs to be like an additional special edition with a more stories or that she needs to write something out.
[SPEAKER_00]: So like maybe they want her to write more to this and she doesn't want to. [SPEAKER_00]: It feels like it's over and she wants to do something different. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, because I just feel like maybe she was a one hit wonder in that regard and she's, I mean, that would fall in line with the story we got any year in the life.
[SPEAKER_01]: She was kind of a one hit wonder and then she didn't really know what to do next. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: But like in the sense that this was really successful. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because Gamma Girl's Woods, but I also think that in the same regard, like talking about this being in 2026, that's kind of like when Amy stopped the series, so it's kind of like the 20 year anniversary of her original series being over to.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's true. [SPEAKER_00]: So I wonder if it would be like thematic in that regard because I'm trying to think of like how it would be like how she would approach it like from I guess what has happened in her own life as a writer sure and that time period. [SPEAKER_01]: Well that's the other thing I was going to pose to you is like do we think that she ever expanded the star's hollow gazette do we think that she really took that and did something with it?
[SPEAKER_00]: No, I think it's the same. [SPEAKER_00]: I think it's exactly how it was hilarious. [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe she's still the editor, but it still makes no money. [SPEAKER_00]: The Jackie Hoffman, what was her character's name? [SPEAKER_00]: Esther? [SPEAKER_00]: Esther? [SPEAKER_00]: Esther Charlie?
[SPEAKER_01]: Esther and Charlie, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: They still work there. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, hilarious. [SPEAKER_01]: That's really funny. [SPEAKER_01]: So I feel like I feel like that's not... [SPEAKER_01]: I can't change. [SPEAKER_01]: You know what I think would be really interesting is if Gilmore girls was her like one hit wonder and like people got really invested in her in that book because she wrote, you know, about the town of Star's Hollow, that the Star's Hollow is a good tourist attraction.
[SPEAKER_01]: It becomes a tourist attraction in the Star's Hollow because that becomes popular because [SPEAKER_01]: Like that is the reading material they want every like people globally or at least across the country have a subscription to the stars Holocaust at because they want to know what's going on in the town and like people come I feel like you would be like an influence or destination [SPEAKER_00]: Like, kind of like in this meta-sentence of like, they're staying at the dragonfly or like, they go to like the sight of the independence in.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, it's Taylor's dream. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: That like, and I feel like this would be done in such a way that's like their pests and town, that like, it's not like, Taylor's the only one that really sees the value in it. [SPEAKER_00]: But I feel like they would, they would.
[SPEAKER_00]: like Kirk would be like upcharging people to meet Santa. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god, I have so many what ifs about Kirk and Taylor. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, but back to the where are they now? [SPEAKER_01]: What do you think about worries relationship with Logan and subsequently worries relationship with Lola?
[SPEAKER_00]: Do we think it's a low-line low-key? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's why I also like the name low-line. [SPEAKER_01]: I think that it's kind of perfectly suited for a new lower-line nickname that also kind of nods that Logan. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but I'm not at it. [SPEAKER_01]: Really curious if you feel like this is just not a copy paced, but a reminiscent relationship.
[SPEAKER_01]: from the perspective, from the, the triangle that is Laura Lye Christopher and worry. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, um, I like to think that maybe he is involved in some capacity, um, one of the what ifs that someone submitted is what if Lolo was spending Christmas with Logan instead of with Laurie and that was like kind of Laurie's storyline as that she didn't have Lolo for the holidays.
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, to, I guess, screwed around the fact that, like, you wouldn't have to have the child and everything. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, but, and like, how that would impact her. [SPEAKER_00]: And I kind of liked that idea of that, like, maybe he still lives in London. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know his marital status.
[SPEAKER_00]: I imagine he's got married. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, I don't know what that looks like, but I like the idea that he, they're kind [SPEAKER_00]: a craester parent where it's like Easter Christmas you know like the big holidays like that's kind of when he pops into her life I don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: I think that he really involved.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, but I think it would be really interesting if he did live in London If like the plan was for Lola to go to London for Christmas and like worries grappling with that, but then Logan has to come in a star's hollow And she's maybe maybe what do you do back? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and he's like, I just thought that it would be better if we spent Christmas all together and she's like that wasn't The plan Yeah, someone's what if I will say it's like what if Roy in Logan's daughter spent Christmas with Logan and Jess was there to cheer her up Yeah, I saw that that's fine.
[SPEAKER_00]: I was like Okay, well What team I have so [SPEAKER_01]: I have some what ifs that will kind of fall in line with that, but I first wanted to kind of maybe establish what we think Logan's relationship with his daughter with her parenting. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think he's co-parenting abroad, admittedly.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so because worry has, it's kind of a lower library situation where worry has like primary custody of her daughter, but yeah, [SPEAKER_01]: I think so. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_00]: I think that he's maybe more involved than Chris was, but not so involved that he sees her every day.
[SPEAKER_01]: Do you think that low love sees her dad the same way that worry saw Christopher like in the early seasons where she like he's always kind of to rooting for them to get together? [SPEAKER_01]: I think so. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_00]: I think she's like dad loves you. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: And she's like, well, that's cool. [SPEAKER_00]: I always knew that actually. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: That is very cool. [SPEAKER_00]: I never got a bat Christopher. [SPEAKER_00]: Kisses. [SPEAKER_00]: I kind of don't think that he ever grew a backbone. [SPEAKER_00]: Logan. [SPEAKER_00]: So you think he's married to that?
[SPEAKER_00]: I just don't think Logan ever grew a backbone as someone who like absolutely loves Logan. [SPEAKER_00]: I think that he probably just act we asked to what worries parenting plan wise, but like stood up enough that he was like, I want to see her too. [SPEAKER_00]: And so he, [SPEAKER_00]: I think sometimes maybe he comes over from London, he's in town for work, he, whatever, she goes over there.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think they talk a lot, but I think for the most part, she's parented by the lower lies and Emily, but it's kind of working relationship. [SPEAKER_00]: But I do, yeah, I do think that she's rooting for them to be together. [SPEAKER_00]: Do you think that Logan Marito debt? [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, that's like the one big question mark that I have.
[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like I have like a most like a general idea of what I would think from everyone else. [SPEAKER_00]: I just can't decide because like I just don't think he ever grew a backbone, but I don't know if he would ever like respect that relationship enough to be like, I'm. [SPEAKER_00]: This, this isn't, you need to go find a French air air to your interest.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and join forces like yeah, it doesn't for me. [SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know like I think maybe that was like the farce like the toughest that he ever got about something with his dad. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, but I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe he's just a single bachelor who will always find after worry, [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And maybe he's been engaged several times and it hasn't worked out. [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe. [SPEAKER_01]: Who knows. [SPEAKER_01]: Curious what Amy's thoughts are on that. [SPEAKER_01]: So moving into LoraLi. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Laura and Luke are together.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're Mary. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: There are some people who said like what if Laura and Luke adopted a child like within this time? [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think so. [SPEAKER_01]: I think especially the fact that like they're becoming grandparents, that is where their focus is.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I also think that like they love being grandparents, but Laura does not want to be called any variation of grandma. [SPEAKER_01]: No, no. [SPEAKER_01]: She's like, [UNKNOWN]: No. [SPEAKER_01]: She calls her Lorelei. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: I think she, maybe, spends the entire Christmas special being like, let's figure out what you're going to call me.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because I... Or maybe she calls her a bunch of different things. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe it's just Lorelei. [SPEAKER_00]: Because she can't call her grandma because that's what Emily, Emily's grandma. [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe it's just Lorelei, which would be hilarious.
[SPEAKER_01]: hilarious. [SPEAKER_01]: But I, I could see like Luke being fine with being called like grandpa or something, and Laura, I just cannot, she's like, no, do I look like a great grandpa and Laura lie? [SPEAKER_01]: I just feel like she would not be able to like wrap her mind around being called grandma.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and I feel one of the reasons that I want worry to kind of like have like something going on in her career is because I want Lola to kind of be parented by everyone. [SPEAKER_00]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_00]: Like I think that in the absence of Logan being a daily parent, I want like almost like Luke and Laura like to be co-parenting with Lori.
[SPEAKER_00]: on a day-to-day basis. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, she ends up at the dragonfly. [SPEAKER_00]: She's the diner, and maybe she has a, she's on fine my friends. [SPEAKER_00]: And so everyone always knows where Lola is. [SPEAKER_00]: That sort of thing that like, she's, she kind of guides us around town a little bit.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you know where she is. [SPEAKER_00]: Because she's, she's being parented by all. [SPEAKER_01]: Totally. [SPEAKER_01]: So, Loura Lye has also expanded the end with a spa and we're like 10 years removed from that. [SPEAKER_01]: So that's a pretty well-oiled machine. [SPEAKER_01]: Do you think that you see he said he has to be?
[SPEAKER_01]: You don't think that he's still, you don't think that Michelle is still potentially like itchy to do more. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so there's like two factors that I'm trying to think about here in terms of the Christmas social being both like a story that we're developing from these characters that we talk about like their real people and from the perspective of like who they would bring back for a Christmas special totally and I just like think they would bring him back and I think he would want to come back so I think that there's that like line of like maybe he would have wanted more but like maybe they decided to have children and like [SPEAKER_00]: in this area.
[SPEAKER_00]: It made a lot of sense for them to do so. [SPEAKER_00]: Fred Drake, I think his name was, was his husband's name. [SPEAKER_00]: So maybe he just needed a little bit more responsibility and having a spa did that. [SPEAKER_00]: And maybe that's part of where he's book, like Gilmore Girls, like highlighting stars hollow into this being this little like magical town, and to get me to kind of a [SPEAKER_00]: Destination and especially coming to stay at the dragonfly that like me shell is like the Influencer coordinator Yeah, you know what I mean like would be like so.
[SPEAKER_01]: He just pee on her Yeah, yeah, who's something like that the other thing that you and I have talked about a lot especially as we have been doing the rewatch club is that [SPEAKER_01]: Suki would need to be, I mean if they could swing it with Melissa McCarthy, she would need to be super involved because like not having the dynamic between Suki and more lie at the dragonfly end in the revival, I think was really tough.
[SPEAKER_01]: It just, she anchors the show in such a way and she anchors the character of Laura like beyond her relationship with the story, that I just think it would be so imperative to have her there and it would also be so special to see the three of them back together again. [SPEAKER_00]: I know.
[SPEAKER_00]: And there's just something about Suki that just like adds this levity to sometimes like these serious moments that just feel so important. [SPEAKER_00]: You saying that? [SPEAKER_00]: I was like, oh, Suki would totally have a grandmother name for Loma. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, [SPEAKER_00]: she would call her something other than Suki.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, like, like, like, me and me or Mammar, Mammar. [SPEAKER_00]: Mammar, Mammar. [SPEAKER_00]: Suki is from the deep south. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, um, talking to her Mammar. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, but I just feel like she would have like a cute little care and parent name that little a call her.
[SPEAKER_00]: Or it's Suki. [SPEAKER_00]: Suki kind of sounds like a cuteie grandma name sometimes. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it is. [SPEAKER_00]: It is cute. [SPEAKER_00]: But. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think a lot of this like we could definitely talk about it in two directions kind of how we would write The fan fiction version of it, but like then like turning back and being like, okay, what is all of what are all these actors doing?
[SPEAKER_00]: Like what is their availability? [SPEAKER_00]: What is their interest? [SPEAKER_00]: What is the time commitment? [SPEAKER_01]: And it also really depends on what the goal of the Christmas special is. [SPEAKER_01]: This is the day in the life. [SPEAKER_01]: This would not be a year in the life part two.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean? [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think that we would probably get long enough to be able to [SPEAKER_01]: Well, that's a thing completely like one 90 minute. [SPEAKER_01]: Like we would basically get like a quarter of what we got with a year of life. [SPEAKER_00]: I think Yeah, imagine if this released in theaters like the Dump Nabi the finale That would that would be so good the theatrical really it would be great.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, yeah I want to see them on the big screen. [SPEAKER_01]: Totally totally okay, so Emily [SPEAKER_01]: Here is my proposal for Emily. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, this is what I'm going to propose. [SPEAKER_01]: Emily, they have still like, Laura and Luke have absolutely maintained the their end of the deal.
[SPEAKER_01]: For the last 10 years, we spent two weeks in Nantucket, one week at Christmas, it's like worked for them, it has made their relationships super, [SPEAKER_01]: manageable considering like the growth that Laura and her mother have had, but I think it would be really interesting if they're preparing to go to Emily's for the holidays and Emily tells them that she is returning to Connecticut because [SPEAKER_01]: she's grown bored and nantuck it.
[SPEAKER_01]: She's going to keep the house, but she wants to be closer to her great granddaughter. [SPEAKER_01]: And I love the idea of her pulling like a tricks by surprising Laurel I with either returning to her old house, which she famously sold in. [SPEAKER_01]: the revival because there were a lot of what ifs that were submitted about everybody getting snowed in at the Gilmore's and I was like, well, remember the Gilmore's doesn't exist anymore.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think you'll realize how's really interesting if she either bought the house back. [SPEAKER_01]: It's like after 10 years the current owners actually have decided to leave and I'm going to buy it back. [SPEAKER_00]: or like she did with the house just knocked on the door and said, hi, can I buy this?
[SPEAKER_01]: Can I buy this? [SPEAKER_01]: Can I buy your house? [SPEAKER_01]: Or if she pulls a trick and is like, I actually never sold my house. [SPEAKER_01]: I rented my house, maybe to corn. [SPEAKER_01]: And I am returning. [SPEAKER_01]: I am like, the renters are leaving. [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm going to take the house again because I'm going to be closer to my great grand daughter.
[SPEAKER_01]: I kind of love that idea because that's the friction between Emily and [SPEAKER_01]: hundreds of thousands of miles away in Nantucket. [SPEAKER_01]: You are. [SPEAKER_00]: You're just a hundred thousand miles. [SPEAKER_01]: No, no, hundreds, if not over like a thousand miles away. [SPEAKER_01]: I've worded that incorrectly, but like hundreds of miles away.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no, no, no. [SPEAKER_01]: But I don't know how far Nantucket is from, it's not that far ahead of you. [SPEAKER_01]: But at least hundreds of miles away. [SPEAKER_00]: And well, here's, here's my, [SPEAKER_00]: I would love to go back to the house for the Christmas special, you know what I mean?
[SPEAKER_00]: Like I want to be in the Gilmore's house. [SPEAKER_00]: Like it's Friday night dinner Christmas special, like 25 on Friday. [SPEAKER_00]: But it doesn't make sense thematically to the direction of Emily that she moved on from that house that the house was not the house. [SPEAKER_00]: Like it's the people that were around her that like she sold the house.
[SPEAKER_00]: and that she doesn't care about like being in that heart for society. [SPEAKER_00]: Someone's what if is what if Emily moved to star's hollow. [SPEAKER_00]: And I kind of like the idea of her being like having two homes and it being an tuck-it and star's hollow. [SPEAKER_00]: And I kind of like, I kind of like, I got to go.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't know where she would live because according to our bestie on Patreon, Justin, he said that the Twicom House doesn't exist anymore. [SPEAKER_00]: And the capacity that it was because I believe that they bring it back, I think they could bring it back for the purposes of [SPEAKER_01]: of this storyline because I want to be she going to live that coast to town.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I would find it ironic that she ends up buying it after Luke had purchased it then decided not to do. [SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean? [SPEAKER_01]: Like a coat of been in the house. [SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't but she ends up buying it. [SPEAKER_01]: That would be really interesting.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, for sure. [SPEAKER_00]: Especially, there's something about Burda that feels like she could be a part of Star's Hollow. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, mostly, but she's, she's played mostly because she's Jepsie. [SPEAKER_00]: I would love to see them talk to each other. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, there it is.
[SPEAKER_01]: They do a green screen. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: But I see her in style. [SPEAKER_00]: A couple of situations. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god. [SPEAKER_00]: I would love it. [SPEAKER_00]: Rose would be down for that. [SPEAKER_00]: I could tell you. [SPEAKER_00]: For sure not. [SPEAKER_00]: But I just like the idea of like, she wants to be near her great-granddaughter.
[SPEAKER_00]: She's not going to miss out on this. [SPEAKER_00]: And so she ends up in stars, although 100 percent acidity. [SPEAKER_00]: Or she like is they are all set to go to an anti-kit for Christmas and Emily is like, I'm going to stay at the dragonfly. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to buy something or like I actually bought house.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's in Star's Hollow and like that's the, that's the, the kind of like friction. [SPEAKER_01]: It would also be interesting if Rory and Lola were living in the lower lies house with Luke and Laura lie. [SPEAKER_01]: And you think she still isn't home, but that's what I'm that's what I'm wondering if like that's the friction.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's like starting to get out of control because now Lola is turning 10. [SPEAKER_01]: She's not a baby anymore. [SPEAKER_01]: It's starting to be kind of sleepouted. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I'm something, girl, I don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: But I do like the idea of Emily being like, I bought a house for Rory.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to stay there sometimes, but Rory and Lil' can live in the house when I'm not there. [SPEAKER_01]: And that like, Erx, Laura, like, because she's like, why did you buy the house? [SPEAKER_01]: And she's like, well, it's really a house for me. [SPEAKER_01]: And she's like, no, no, it's, yes, I guess.
[SPEAKER_01]: But, oh, so what do you do? [SPEAKER_00]: It's a part of me that wants Rory. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, not Rory. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, Rory. [SPEAKER_00]: to be a little bit more and a little bit independent, like have a little bit of separation to be like a little bit of her own person, because there's just something about raising your 10 year old at your mom's house, and your childhood bedroom that just...
[SPEAKER_00]: It's, I mean, the show is about codependent. [SPEAKER_00]: He's going to say that. [SPEAKER_00]: Tell me that's not really good. [SPEAKER_01]: And also, tell me that's not right. [SPEAKER_00]: It's so codependent. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, I feel like Laura, I would hate them not living there.
[SPEAKER_00]: But I feel like Lori would be like the constant reminder of like. [SPEAKER_00]: We are, I'm an adult, I remember mom, I'm an adult now. [SPEAKER_00]: And she's like, you're always going to beat your preachers, like that sort of thing. [SPEAKER_00]: So I like the idea that maybe they live outside of the lower lives house, but they always end up back, back.
[SPEAKER_00]: You always find your way back home, Hannah Montana style. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that I think I just need from Rory. [SPEAKER_00]: If we're going to start with worrying likeable in any capacity, I need her to have some independence. [SPEAKER_01]: What if she lived in Luke's old apartment [SPEAKER_00]: I also thought about that, but I was like no, we are not we are not living in jesses pass We're not doing this.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: I would buy that as well because it's not quite living at home, but it's not quite I think that that's worth it alone [SPEAKER_00]: You're maybe in your stepfather's apartment above his diner. [SPEAKER_00]: I just have her at home. [SPEAKER_00]: I just need some sense of it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe she lives on one of those apartments that they saw, that he made. [SPEAKER_00]: Jessen, I was supposed to say Jessen Dean's all, Jessen. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so. [SPEAKER_01]: They held hands. [SPEAKER_01]: It's a very different story. [SPEAKER_01]: I would love to know what our best do you think about that?
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, we're worried when you're living with Lola and what that would all look like. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, also given all of Logan's means, I wonder if he would be like, I'm happy with it. [SPEAKER_00]: I know, I see, but maybe she really got the child support from Logan. [SPEAKER_01]: But she might reject it the same way that Laura lied did.
[SPEAKER_00]: Laura, I don't judge it any and all help. [SPEAKER_00]: I think that there's like something that's like, [SPEAKER_00]: For Lorelei, it was a real sense of pride, but I think sometimes when you'd reject help in that sense of someone who can help you, who wants to help you, who really does need to help you, it's kind of insulting a little bit, it's kind of like putting that arm out of being like, in like a different way than Chris, like Chris doesn't, we never hear of any offering to help from Chris until he is like, I'm rich in season six, like we never hear about any of that.
[SPEAKER_00]: So like, I think it's kind of insulting like maybe that's part of it that like he she won't let him help. [SPEAKER_00]: But like I think that worries always been a lot more accepting of things like help in that regard. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, so I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, here is because here's the thing is if I told you in 2000, [SPEAKER_01]: 12 that we were going to get a Gilmore girls revival.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're worried Gilmore had not be really become like a successful journalist and she had to move home and all of these things. [SPEAKER_01]: Would you have believed that that was her and that was true and that was... [SPEAKER_01]: what we were getting, you know what I mean? [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: But see, here's the thing though. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like with Roy's arc, I feel like in the original series, like by the end of it, people were kind of unsure, like a lot of people have a breakup moment with Roy, like, had Susan Lee on the podcast recently, and she like talked about her breakup moment with Roy, was season four up so 22, where he could interrupt some piece where she sleeps with Dean, because she kind of ruins, [SPEAKER_00]: That was her for Lorelie, but just from there, she's never really redeemed.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that when we get to the revival, a lot of people feel that way. [SPEAKER_00]: She cheated twice with two different people. [SPEAKER_00]: She's like, has a boyfriend, she keeps forgetting about. [SPEAKER_00]: So I just like, I think I need to redeem her a little bit in her. [SPEAKER_00]: our independence.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I get that. [SPEAKER_01]: I just, I just wouldn't put it past her to live at home and or live above Lucidiner. [SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean? [SPEAKER_01]: I, I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: I get out. [SPEAKER_00]: I can also see her having her own separate house and having secrets from more life.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, sure. [SPEAKER_00]: First, you know, like, like, she comes to her house and she's like, and what's this? [SPEAKER_00]: Sugar free? [SPEAKER_00]: Like, you know what I mean? [SPEAKER_00]: Like, or like, and then it builds up to the fact that maybe Logan is coming to visit more than she's being honest about.
[SPEAKER_00]: And he's staying there. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm curious. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm really curious about the direction they would take Roy's love life, especially now that she has a daughter and how Roy would handle that in front of Lola if she would be similar to how her mom was in the first couple of seasons, especially season one about like, I don't want her to be exposed to my date, I don't ever really bring anybody home, you know, it would be interesting if she had become that person and Laura [SPEAKER_01]: I try to do it with you.
[SPEAKER_01]: I totally get it on the queen of peace. [SPEAKER_00]: No, that would be so. [SPEAKER_00]: That'd be such a good part of it as like more like helping parenting. [SPEAKER_00]: For a parent, for a parent. [SPEAKER_00]: Lola. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Totally. [SPEAKER_00]: Like the parenting advice.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like I think that that would make it so good. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: agree. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, let's move into some of these what ifs because we're kind of using on what ifs about where they are, but I think that these are really fun for, you know, not just the girls, but yeah, the townies.
[SPEAKER_01]: So you brought this up already, but like, what if the snowstorm had everyone stranded at the Gilmours or the little lies or the dragonfly? [SPEAKER_01]: And I think that, like, as a Christmas [SPEAKER_01]: cool to have everybody, like kind of like a bracelet dinner, but in reverse. [SPEAKER_01]: The bracelet group could come because they got snowed in.
[SPEAKER_01]: I like the idea of like all of these people end up at the dragonfly and they get snowed in there so there's kind of no escape. [SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, it's like a bunch of very cozy. [SPEAKER_01]: It would be right for drama. [SPEAKER_01]: So who would be there? [SPEAKER_01]: Who would be there?
[SPEAKER_00]: Laura, Laura, Laura, is it at the lower lies or is it at the dragonfly? [SPEAKER_01]: It's at the dragonfly. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_00]: The lower lies, Lola, Luke, all the else. [SPEAKER_00]: Emily would find her way there by some measure. [SPEAKER_00]: I feel like Michelle is probably there.
[SPEAKER_00]: Kirk, why? [SPEAKER_00]: Suki. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, but needs to be. [SPEAKER_00]: Suki, praying for Suki to be there. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [UNKNOWN]: Kirk. [SPEAKER_01]: anyone else from town maybe like random guests well i'd love for about more to be there what about lame what about lane missy cam what is lane doing i hope lanes divorced i hope lanes divorce too sorry this is like this is a Christmas special about co parenting i really hope lane is divorced it doesn't even mean she has to be with with davour galski which we would all know but [SPEAKER_01]: I just, you know, she and Chris Miracles, I don't know, maybe by the end, they kind of worked.
[SPEAKER_01]: We did really feel redeemed. [SPEAKER_01]: But like we feel like Zach redeemed himself slash and deered a little bit to Zach by the end of the series. [SPEAKER_00]: But that was season seven. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh no, I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: Very different, but Adam Brody, he's big right now.
[SPEAKER_00]: He is. [SPEAKER_00]: He's been a Christmas special. [SPEAKER_00]: I would love for him to be there. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, Campio, he's floating around Burbank, just pull him in. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, just like college and you're just gonna be very good man. [SPEAKER_00]: Come by on a break.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, can happen. [SPEAKER_01]: No, yeah, just take him. [SPEAKER_01]: But I think it would be really interesting if, like, Logan and Jess somehow ended up at the Dragonfly Snowden with where he'd get more. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I kind of like the idea of maybe they're trying to get Lola from London with Logan like but like there's snow situation and maybe it's like a Christmas miracle and Logan was able to get Lola there for Christmas you despite the snow despite the like Earth ending snow storm that's happening and they can't even like leave their house so [SPEAKER_00]: I, I feel like, yeah, I think trains and automobiles sort of such a place.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, totally. [SPEAKER_01]: I also think that it would be really, I really think that just would be worries, publisher, and that's why they have, like, [SPEAKER_00]: of semi-business relationship that they do, maybe that's what brings him to the dragonfly is like, hey, we got to get this done before, like, you know, by kind of like the idea of he's not for Gilmore girls, but this other project that she's working on, that no one really believes in, that maybe he decides to do that one.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And like, he just ends up getting stuck there, sodas, Logan, with Lola. [SPEAKER_01]: Do you think Lola knows, Jess is like just her uncle, Jess? [SPEAKER_00]: Well, he's her grandfather's nephew, so she knows how to be a family at the very least. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I feel like.
[SPEAKER_00]: She goes to school and she says my mom is dating my grandfather's nephew. [SPEAKER_01]: and everybody's like, right? [SPEAKER_01]: They're like, oh my gosh, let's see him being kind of like a Luke to her in like an old type. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't want it at all. [SPEAKER_00]: I know you don't, but yeah, I just don't think that Luke is paternal.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, not Luke, Luke is paternal. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think Jess is paternal. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, for sure. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, we saw the way that he acted with Clara. [SPEAKER_01]: He was in high school, but I could see. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, that doesn't count. [SPEAKER_00]: They were best friends though, the kids.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I'm saying. [SPEAKER_00]: Like he was mean to me. [SPEAKER_00]: What? [SPEAKER_00]: Wasn't Claire like 12? [SPEAKER_00]: Guess, I don't know if he was weird. [SPEAKER_01]: So look, that's like a five-year-age gap. [SPEAKER_01]: I know, but it's just out there and like, no, obviously, as we go.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's like, he's like 40 and she's like 35. [SPEAKER_00]: That's not weird. [SPEAKER_00]: That's true. [SPEAKER_00]: But I don't know if I want that, you wish he don't want the most hated character on this show by me only. [SPEAKER_01]: I was like, by whose generous, who are we talking about?
[SPEAKER_00]: Did that with Jensen or I don't know? [SPEAKER_00]: No, that's a silly, that's a silly ha ha. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, I have to specify some people that want to be like, oh, no, they're gonna be like, oh my gosh, cancel. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, true. [SPEAKER_01]: Um, yeah, but I do think that like Lola gets along with jazz.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think just. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like high five. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, Foxon. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like, hey, Lola. [SPEAKER_00]: and that's it. [SPEAKER_00]: That's it. [SPEAKER_00]: And then the end pops up. [SPEAKER_00]: That's a little Christmas vegetable. [SPEAKER_00]: No, I don't know.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: They have like a fully fresh fleshed out relationship, but I think she might see a more delicious food. [SPEAKER_01]: They're not more delicious food. [SPEAKER_00]: I kind of see them having it's like a kind of like an uncle, brotherly sort of relationship.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Because I kind of don't see worry storyline ending with her romantically but anyone. [SPEAKER_01]: Hmm. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I honestly understand that as well. [SPEAKER_01]: Grasher. [SPEAKER_01]: I think that um. [SPEAKER_01]: But I do think that she and Jess would have a closer relationship than maybe they did in the revival because he has helped her with publishing.
[SPEAKER_01]: You see, somehow involved in her book writing, especially because he gave her the idea to write the Gilmore girls. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm so resistant to him helping her. [SPEAKER_00]: Because you don't want to do it. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to do it. [SPEAKER_00]: No, it's more of like, I think it's like a problem that I have with the series in general [SPEAKER_00]: drop these little ideas into her head that she doesn't have a lot of internal motivation.
[SPEAKER_00]: It always comes from some pinpoint from someone else. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: Specifically, you know. [SPEAKER_01]: And you also feel like, I think you also feel like the fandom gives him a lot of credit for her going back to Yale for her writing the book and you just want her to be.
[SPEAKER_00]: I want her to want something on her own. [SPEAKER_00]: Like I want. [SPEAKER_00]: I wanted her to write the book and be like, I wrote a book and just like, great. [SPEAKER_00]: That's exactly what you should done. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: But I didn't tell you to do it. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so I think that that's my only thing because I would love to have them to have a working relationship.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what just does other than like being a printing press in terms of like his his his job. [SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: I like the idea of them having a working relationship. [SPEAKER_00]: But [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I also want Rory to have some like personal motivation that's like her own within the story.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, come on. [SPEAKER_01]: We could go down the rabbit hole of what like scenarios could take place in the snowstorm, but I think that that would take up the whole episode. [SPEAKER_00]: So that would be the whole episode. [SPEAKER_00]: What if there's a snowstorm? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, period.
[SPEAKER_00]: One snowy night. [SPEAKER_01]: One of the things that I really, really love is the idea of like Kirk leading a lot of the town events because Taylor is starting to get to a place where he should be retiring and he doesn't know how to relinquish. [SPEAKER_01]: things to Kirk. [SPEAKER_01]: So there's like maybe like kind of a push pole about who Santa that year.
[SPEAKER_01]: And like obviously Taylor can't be kind of the perfect Santa and usually like maybe usually Kirk is his elf but he's like I want to be Santa because Kirk as Santa would be hilarious. [SPEAKER_01]: I also love the idea of Taylor like making Luke become Santa because it's like a rule [SPEAKER_01]: I think I mentioned this before.
[SPEAKER_01]: My grandma is one of 15. [SPEAKER_01]: And so we have huge, huge, huge parties, like twice a year. [SPEAKER_01]: There's the family picnic over the summer and there's the Christmas party at the end of the year. [SPEAKER_01]: And at the Christmas party, I think there is some sort of, like, it's not like a hard and fast rule, but it's just like, if you are the father of like, the most recently born grandchild you play Santa.
[SPEAKER_01]: It might have been at one point, maybe I'm making that up. [SPEAKER_01]: But for the purposes of this, I think it could be really interesting if they were like, well, you're the grandfather of like the, you know, Lola is the most recent, I don't know, she's next on the list or whatever.
[SPEAKER_01]: And he's like so many babies have been born in this home. [SPEAKER_01]: They're like, nope, it's actually just Lola. [SPEAKER_01]: So you are Santa, which is like, I have to be Santa. [SPEAKER_01]: And Taylor's like, I don't make the rules. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he's like, yes, you do. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: It'd be like, it was epic Santa. [SPEAKER_01]: Let's true if we could see it was epic Santa. [SPEAKER_01]: But there were a lot of like, Kirk is dressed up as Santa. [SPEAKER_01]: Luke is dressed up as Santa. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, you know, Kirk does this. [SPEAKER_01]: Kirk does that. [SPEAKER_01]: My favorite one was Kirk.
[SPEAKER_01]: is trying to sell Christmas trees from last year and calling them vintage. [SPEAKER_00]: We, my favorite was what if stars Hall of Elementary School did a production of a Christmas carol and Kirk was tiny temp. [SPEAKER_00]: That one really, really loved as well, and they had to rename him to tell them.
[SPEAKER_01]: I told him one of my favorites was what if Kirk sets up a family Christmas picture studio at Paddy's, like Macy's, like juicy Paddy. [SPEAKER_00]: I would see this is why I feel like the idea of like stars hollow being kind of like a destination, being upcharged and like him swindling everyone, all of these ideas would work.
[SPEAKER_00]: like someone's like, what if Kirk had live reindeer? [SPEAKER_00]: Of course. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, and you have to pay to see the live reindeer. [SPEAKER_00]: You did the portraits. [SPEAKER_00]: You're telling me influencers aren't going to stop in for a little photo moment, like overcharged and he's like making like so much money this Christmas.
[SPEAKER_00]: Totally. [SPEAKER_00]: And maybe that's part of it because I think that in thinking about like a Christmas [SPEAKER_00]: Is there like a metaphor for Kirk going through like a ghost of Christmas past sort of thing like he gets really greedy You know like he's always had tons of jobs, but made a ton of money and like [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe he has like in the background, he's being haunted by the ghost of Christmas past.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Don't even really like fully recognize it. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe Lucas the Grinch or maybe Kirk is going through. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a wonderful life. [SPEAKER_01]: They did say something about someone did say something about Kirk being like reenacting the Grinch and like trying to take everybody's presence or like trying to give them the past.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I also like the idea of on the topic of Miss Patty's, like Miss Patty's school of dance doing a production of the Nutcracker, because I also think this is a perfect Nutcracker would be really hilarious, but also because Lola would be dancing, correct? [SPEAKER_01]: Lola would be dancing, Lola would be doing costumes, Luke would be building the sets, I think that could be really cool.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I like the idea of like, does she have a recital and Logan's trying to make it for the recital? [SPEAKER_00]: That's really cute. [SPEAKER_00]: that would be so cute. [SPEAKER_01]: I love the idea of Lola like being very musically and like dancing, Klein, considering that like Rory is very intellectual and studious, and she's a little more artsy, I think could be fun.
[SPEAKER_01]: I also always think back to life. [SPEAKER_01]: It's just gonna be recital. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, Ms. Badlay, Amy Trimple didn't know exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: She wouldn't miss an opportunity to do that. [SPEAKER_01]: But I also love the idea of, I just, I constantly think about moreian about that, talking at Roy's birthday parties in season 1 about how Roy was as a cheerleader.
[SPEAKER_01]: And there's probably being like, you were great. [SPEAKER_01]: And where it was like, she was pretty bad. [SPEAKER_00]: And like somehow low was really good at it. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: That's just kind of like she's just naturally, really, really, I'm really good at it. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: But here's, okay, here's my page. [SPEAKER_01]: Here's my page from like a tour of some influencer perspective. [SPEAKER_01]: What if Taylor really campaigns to have Santa Con come to Star's Hollow to boost tourism? [SPEAKER_01]: And there are just Santa's everywhere. [SPEAKER_01]: I feel like he would do it.
[SPEAKER_01]: He would welcome it. [SPEAKER_00]: I was like, I'm welcome. [SPEAKER_00]: You don't. [SPEAKER_00]: Or maybe he starts his own. [SPEAKER_00]: He starts his own Santa Khan. [SPEAKER_00]: Connecticut Santa Khan. [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe like maybe like this is like his dreams coming true. [SPEAKER_00]: Like he's always wanted to do all these things.
[SPEAKER_00]: But now. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, worry, his ice cream queen has caused this. [SPEAKER_00]: And maybe she really regrets it. [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe that's the worry thing. [SPEAKER_00]: Is that like, she wrote this, she published it, it did really well, and she really regrets what came from it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, what it did to the town. [SPEAKER_00]: Not in like, not that it's doing anything bad because it's like, everyone's making more money in town and it's bringing more people to the town, like her mom's business is doing better but overall it took away what Sarthala was about her. [SPEAKER_01]: Sarthala.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, like her little secret place in the world to be. [SPEAKER_00]: to maybe it's her trying to figure that out and that's why she's wanting to work with someone smaller like Jess like his if maybe he has an imprint if he's publishing press. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know like maybe that's that's a direction because I would love this is like Taylor's like dream like his dreams are coming true.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: We could be two of the influencers in town. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: You know it. [SPEAKER_01]: This is my what if. [SPEAKER_01]: And this is kind of debuting away from like Santa and the usual townies. [SPEAKER_01]: But what if Dean moved back to stars hollow with his new family?
[SPEAKER_01]: And Roy's daughter, Lola, had a crush on Dean's son? [SPEAKER_00]: No! [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, here's the thing. [SPEAKER_00]: Earlier, I did write, I'm pointing up because my notes are up further, I did write to the Big Man upstairs, you know, my creator, Amy's her melody, you know, but no, so, Dean, I was like, okay, we're not going to not include Jared Paddlekki in the Christmas special.
[SPEAKER_00]: Also because he's doing that movie with like, we stir, which is so fun. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I forgot to talk about that. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, in the last episode. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so really excited, like Gilmour Rolls, Scott's a girl crossover, but we're not going to not include him. [SPEAKER_00]: I know he loves Gilmour Rolls, he loves Gilmour Rolls fans, like he's going to, he's going to have a cameo.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, we're having a crush on Dean's son. [SPEAKER_00]: I feel like Luke, Jess, Laura Lye, everyone's putting a stop to it. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't want it like that's one of those moments where I just like I love the idea. [SPEAKER_00]: It's so drama, but like think of it this way.
[SPEAKER_00]: Your daughter has a crush on someone who you slept with when they were married. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: No, it's messy. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I guess. [SPEAKER_00]: No, no, no. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: We're daughter has a crush on someone's child.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, I knew what you, I knew what you were saying. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, because I didn't sound right. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I knew what you were saying. [SPEAKER_00]: That sound clip. [SPEAKER_00]: Someone clip it. [SPEAKER_00]: That didn't sound quite right. [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: So the the the the child of someone you used up to it. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no, I It's a drama mess. [SPEAKER_01]: The drama would be really interesting, but Cassie for sure. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and he loves a messy drama. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, honestly, I just it was one of the first things I thought of in trying to incorporate Someone like Jared who is such a fan of the fandom such yeah, like obviously loves Gilmore girls and would want to be a part of it [SPEAKER_01]: And I think that that was a huge aspect to the stories that were told in the revival is like who's available?
[SPEAKER_01]: Who can do this? [SPEAKER_01]: Who do we have, you know, and so I think that some of these things would be, uh, would really be contingent on who's available. [SPEAKER_00]: A family. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, he's he's four kids, you know, so well, I wonder how much older they would be though.
[SPEAKER_01]: So well, I think that he said that his wife had another one on the way when he saw Rory. [SPEAKER_01]: I think that was the fourth one. [SPEAKER_01]: So they would be around the same age. [SPEAKER_01]: They wouldn't be too far off for me. [SPEAKER_01]: You're so right. [SPEAKER_01]: You're so right.
[SPEAKER_01]: You're so right. [SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, someone said what if Emily had a boyfriend? [SPEAKER_01]: And I think we explored that a little bit. [SPEAKER_00]: Someone said, what if Emily had a holiday romance? [SPEAKER_00]: Honestly, my romance is fun. [SPEAKER_01]: You, holiday romance is going very different.
[SPEAKER_01]: But a holiday romance is fun because we kind of exploit the idea of her being in a relationship or having a boyfriend, a companion rather in Jack and a year in the life. [SPEAKER_01]: And I think that that is so normal and natural for someone who is grieving or once companionship amidst loss.
[SPEAKER_00]: What does that make you think of? [SPEAKER_01]: You're so right. [SPEAKER_00]: That's what I say. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, I'm only about to become grand. [SPEAKER_01]: She about to be such a grand talks about. [SPEAKER_00]: She said, I married once. [SPEAKER_00]: She married just second cousin, um, but she talks about that.
[SPEAKER_00]: She's like, she wasn't going to get married again, but, um, I wonder if she, [SPEAKER_00]: Just didn't. [SPEAKER_00]: Like I kind of like the idea of her just really wanting to be a great grandmother and focusing on that and kind of just being invested in her family because I think that her storyline in the revival was just so perfect.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like the arc was just so there. [SPEAKER_00]: Because it's just like the situation, like the circumstances of real life. [SPEAKER_00]: Totally. [SPEAKER_00]: Can only allow for so much. [SPEAKER_00]: So I kind of like, [SPEAKER_00]: As much as I would love an Emily Gilmore Hallmark movie, now that she's in a small town.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, totally. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, City Girl comes in small town. [SPEAKER_00]: That's she's in Ann'tucket, but just that like general vibe. [SPEAKER_00]: So. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, we could get cute, but I think that I would like to focus more on the family because that's really what yeah Amy said the show was about was about family because yeah, and that same vein someone said what if Emily and Lorelife fixed all their issues and I was like couldn't be That's always gonna have to find like version.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think Emily moving back to yeah Star's hollow heartford like somewhere to be like more permanently close to the family is something that would inevitably cause Birchian maybe not at first at first it would be like me [SPEAKER_01]: that's such a great idea. [SPEAKER_01]: And then the actual reality of it happens and she's like, okay, I'm over it.
[SPEAKER_01]: I liked my mother all night. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, like, maybe she kind of like romanticized this version of her mom like, oh my god, we have such a good relationship. [SPEAKER_00]: Things are things about us all here once a week and she see her twice a year. [SPEAKER_01]: But now it's like, you know, Lilith's getting older, she wants to know her, she wants her to know.
[SPEAKER_01]: she wants them to know each other and like now the parenting. [SPEAKER_01]: The parenting advice and [SPEAKER_01]: you know, opinions that Emily has about the way that Laura, I was a parent to worry. [SPEAKER_01]: I think it's going to come out in Laura, like being a grandparent to Lola.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I also like the idea in that like kind of like what the dynamics between all of them are, our Richard was really drawn to Rory. [SPEAKER_00]: And we always say that Emily was [SPEAKER_00]: Laura Lye, not the Emily didn't know she'd love for me, but I kind of like the idea of Lola being like really attached to Emily and especially because like she likes to dance and like she's showing her ballroom dancing and movie musicals and like all these things like I like the idea of like them being really connected and like Emily never misses a dance recital like that's sort of thing that she becomes really close to her and maybe at some point addresses that like [SPEAKER_00]: Uh, she likes that she has, like, she can be that close to her in a way that she felt like Richard was really close to Rory.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: That's really special. [SPEAKER_00]: I think that would be nice. [SPEAKER_00]: Because I think she'd be a great-great-grandmother. [SPEAKER_00]: I think that that would, she would slay. [SPEAKER_01]: She would slay. [SPEAKER_00]: That's true. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Do you have any more what-evs before we move into must-see is?
[SPEAKER_00]: um i'm trying to go back through because we've talked about most of the ones uh there's some really dramatic ones that people wrote in that i'm like oh my gosh this is this is there's even too much for me like what if Jess and worry had a one night stand before he found out that she was pregnant yeah i was like whoa whoa where are you going what if we're to tell look at about the baby and he shows up on christmas and yeah i says she has the daughter i was like [SPEAKER_00]: or what it just saves Christmas like the grinch and I'm like, okay, I need I need more back and forth and everything behind that.
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, but yeah, that was the only one that I was like, ooh, but I don't know how it would work with a Christmas special was like paralleling the arrival of Chris and Logan on the motorcycle on the motorcycle on the motorcycle and like having Logan arrive on a motorcycle and I was like, okay, like, take your shirt off, like I've [SPEAKER_00]: I would take it off.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, it would be a little tough. [SPEAKER_00]: It would be tough. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, um, but a lot of them were just like situational. [SPEAKER_00]: Honestly about Kirk. [SPEAKER_00]: Like I feel like they're most like so many people in Kirk. [SPEAKER_01]: What if Kirk did this?
[SPEAKER_01]: What if Kirk did that? [SPEAKER_01]: Because they know that like when it comes to the townies sector of it, which is so crucial to Yeah, what Gilmore Girls is in the heartbeat of the show that Kirk is at the helm. [SPEAKER_01]: in a lot of it. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And because you have to create the vibes, you have to set the town up in order for the Gilmore girl's drama to feel cozy and inviting.
[SPEAKER_00]: If you like themselves because we talked about that when we were recapping the revival that like the first part of spring we really enjoyed because there was so much there was a town event. [SPEAKER_00]: So there's like winter carnival like that sort of thing. [SPEAKER_00]: There has to be a town meeting like that sort of thing that we have to build it out.
[SPEAKER_00]: And it really does often start with Kirk. [SPEAKER_00]: Like if we have Kirk in an episode, we're like, we've got townies exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: But I would want Boba and Rose. [SPEAKER_00]: Boba and Boba and Rose, Boba and Rose, Boba and Rose. [SPEAKER_00]: Boba and Rose, you have C, like all in the world.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, one hundred percent. [SPEAKER_01]: Tom, the contractor, like we need that townie. [SPEAKER_01]: energy. [SPEAKER_01]: And I think that that's what we got in a lot of the responses from our besties about the must-see's, you know, in Kirk being, you know, Kirk dressing up a Santa Kirk leading XYZ event.
[SPEAKER_01]: One of my favorite ones was a house decorating contest. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, he has the best decorating house. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, they have a many of the town meeting and a lot of rules, Laura lives determined to win. [SPEAKER_01]: I like the idea of it which means that it's looped having to do it.
[SPEAKER_01]: coming to do it, but I like the idea it always reminds me of the Grinch when they have the contest between us, but you know what I'm saying, there's always going to be references like that with that episode. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Or the special. [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: I like the idea of Laura Lye being like, we're going to be the best decorated house, but also but that more you're really good at stuff like that.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a little bit of a call back to 21 is the loneliness number when they do the Halloween and but but and morey are like real competition. [SPEAKER_01]: No, they're [SPEAKER_01]: Lorelei's can be exactly, but then we also have the classic town events like the winter carnival and the snowman building contest and stuff like that.
[SPEAKER_01]: So if there were Christmas pageant, Christmas pageant, of course, when our baby Jesus, you know, so there are a lot of different ways that like the two things coming together. [SPEAKER_00]: Jesus has more than one arm now. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: I hope so. [SPEAKER_00]: I really do, um, it doesn't really change things doesn't, but someone said what if Luke was Joseph and Laura I was married.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't beat you. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that would be true. [SPEAKER_01]: My favorite besides the house decorating contest I mean that honestly took the cake for me because I was like I could totally see them doing that with the town meeting in a committee and all these rules and regulations, but I like the idea of the giant over the top secret Santa in town [SPEAKER_00]: I love the idea of the secret Santa multiple people said secret Santa, and I was like, yes, hilarious.
[SPEAKER_00]: I like it getting switched up or white elephant because I like secret Santa because I like the idea that Kurt got things mixed up like that maybe multiple people will get presents. [SPEAKER_00]: Some people get skipped and like there's like this like [SPEAKER_00]: Like, maybe a lot of multiple people got lower, and multiple people got Luke, and that sort of thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, there's no one's got, you know, Lane or Taylor or something. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that would be fun. [SPEAKER_00]: So we're having to like, re-gift presents that were bought for other people. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, I feel like there's some sort of drama associated with it, but I just really like the idea of Secret Santa.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's fun. [SPEAKER_00]: I think that that's anything secret that gets kind of mixed up messed up. [SPEAKER_00]: I love the idea of it. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: It's very fun. [SPEAKER_01]: that was really everything I had. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean because we talked about so many must seize throughout the duration of the episode.
[SPEAKER_01]: But like for me, a house decorating contest, I think, seeing the lower-rise house. [SPEAKER_00]: It'd be like winter in the revival, the whole time, which I would love. [SPEAKER_00]: I know. [SPEAKER_00]: I really feel like I want to feel like I'm home for the holidays. [SPEAKER_00]: in this whole special.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like I'm going to my hometown, totally. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's, it's like the cozy nature of it. [SPEAKER_00]: And like in that same vein, I think the one thing that I really want to see is the boralized true Christmas traditions because I know canonically, season seven does exist. [SPEAKER_00]: And we got Santa Secret stuff, like all of all, everything that occurred there.
[SPEAKER_01]: the mind of the original creator, yes, I think that to your point earlier about like some of the story lines in the Christmas special mirroring Like classic Christmas films. [SPEAKER_01]: I think that their traditions would also align with that as well. [SPEAKER_01]: Like I just see the lore lies being so Adamant about like and we do XyZ like from National Nampoon's Christmas vacation, you know like we do this.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but I've to know what Amy's if Amy likes Christmas movies [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because someone did say, and I disagree, but someone said, I don't think her Christmas specialists have ever going to happen because Amy is very Jewish, and I was like, well, I don't think those are the rules, she can still do her Christmas special if she wanted to, but like, she has very humorous art.
[SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: The humorous celebrate Christmas. [SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: I thought that was a really interesting [SPEAKER_01]: take, but I would be curious to know how Amy feels about Christmas as someone who likely celebrates Hottica and what her if they have any holiday traditions that would then like weave their way into the story for the Gilmores, you know.
[SPEAKER_00]: But like the idea that like anyone couldn't write a Christmas movie, I feel like is a little [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, I think it's wrong. [SPEAKER_00]: I think that there's just like a nature to get more of themselves that it is a time about family with Christmas trees. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, like I think that it's less unless you're like purposely seeking out, like Christian focused Christmas movies, I feel like for the most part, most Christmas movies are just around the family time around the holidays.
[SPEAKER_00]: she would just take the Gilmourse as they are on the page and put them at Christmas time. [SPEAKER_00]: Like forgiveness and stuff, you know, like you would just be Christmas time. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: So, which I was particularly hurt that I do as well. [SPEAKER_01]: I was like, I don't think that's true, but okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: The other thing that a lot of people said that is a must-see is the Santa Burger, but done in a way that people could actually consume it. [SPEAKER_01]: And I wonder if the Santa Burger is something that Luke could like make as his, obviously he has specials, like his special omelette and stuff.
[SPEAKER_01]: But I wonder if that could become like a commodity, like it is a draw that Luke's diner is the home of the Santa Burger. [SPEAKER_00]: And it just makes it more and more gross for every person who comes in. [SPEAKER_00]: I think it's like the idea of him making Lorelyce Santa Burger. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, like, oh, what's this?
[SPEAKER_00]: It's like I made it for you one time. [SPEAKER_00]: Why do I do what you're talking about? [SPEAKER_01]: This is disgusting. [SPEAKER_01]: Hilarious, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: But those were kind of all of the must-sees from everybody that stood out to me. [SPEAKER_01]: And I think that there's a lot of material here to build off of for a really solid Christmas special.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think it just speaks volumes to the fact that like this Christmas special if it's ever done could go in a lot of different directions. [SPEAKER_01]: They have a lot of opportunity and obviously like Amy's mind is just this mind field of phenomenal ideas that could go off in any minute.
[SPEAKER_01]: So I, yeah, think that this and then some could be implemented into a really phenomenal so [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I also feel like if they do the Christmas special, it's not going to be like anything like we just talked about. [SPEAKER_00]: No, not even this light is, but in a way that like I think it'll be totally fun to watch.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'll have a really good time. [SPEAKER_00]: I think personally I would like it to take place over at the course of a week. [SPEAKER_00]: And Christmas is the end of it. [SPEAKER_00]: Like it's Friday night Christmas dinner. [SPEAKER_00]: Like that's kind of how everything ends. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, I don't think I'd want too much time to pass between the beginning and when we get to Christmas I don't think I would want just Christmas day I think I'd want some some lead up to it with the town and everything but that's just my thought That's just that's my Christmas two cents.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Are you totally agree? [SPEAKER_01]: I [SPEAKER_01]: And really excited about the prospect of it, if it ever happens, I'm really excited to see what they do. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I've been scratching. [SPEAKER_01]: But this was just what you're driving.
[SPEAKER_01]: This was just us kind of using over like some of the things that you guys said, again, like Haley said, it could probably would be nothing like this. [SPEAKER_01]: Not a thing. [SPEAKER_00]: The, the Yomors would be there and that would be there. [SPEAKER_00]: I think that's it. [SPEAKER_01]: What?
[SPEAKER_01]: And that's it. [SPEAKER_01]: There'd be snow. [SPEAKER_01]: There'd be snow. [SPEAKER_01]: For sure. [SPEAKER_01]: One hug. [SPEAKER_01]: There was a star's hollow. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And I wonder if it would be more of a like winter holiday special, less a Christmas special.
[SPEAKER_01]: We of course lean into the Christmas of it all this time around. [SPEAKER_00]: But hope it would be Christmas. [SPEAKER_00]: Like there's just something cozy about a Christmas special. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I know. [SPEAKER_01]: I totally agree. [SPEAKER_01]: Bye. [SPEAKER_00]: I feel like I'm really in the Christmas spirit.
[SPEAKER_01]: I am too. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, we're finally like there. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, Thanksgiving has happened, our birthdays have happened. [SPEAKER_01]: We are ready for it to be Christmas. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: I am moving. [SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, if you guys are on Patreon, I feel like you are screaming.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's been a, it's been a tough, it's not screaming, it's been a tough, tough, year living wise. [SPEAKER_01]: It's been a great year otherwise, but it's been a hard year to be alive. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and it just specifically in my apartment because my upstairs neighbors are unfortunately incredibly loud and also there's no insulation between our apartments.
[SPEAKER_01]: So we [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, we do, so I'm really excited we're starting the year off right and it just has made me even more excited for the holidays. [SPEAKER_01]: What are your holiday plans? [SPEAKER_00]: My holiday plans are kind of just exactly what I was saying that a Christmas special would be just family time with Christmas trees all about.
[SPEAKER_00]: Hell yeah, all right. [SPEAKER_00]: And like I've mentioned before, I have young, knees and nephews and just getting this been time with them and kind of embracing Christmas magic. [SPEAKER_00]: We'll go see Santa Claus, you know, that whole thing, take family pictures, make cookies, all the fun things.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I maybe get to, [SPEAKER_00]: Go to Newark, at this point, maybe I will have been, which that feels very Christmas to me. [SPEAKER_00]: Christmas in the city. [SPEAKER_01]: Christmas in the city is such a dream we were just talking to our editor. [SPEAKER_01]: Leave Ron about this because she's going to come here for the holidays too.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's just such a special time in the city. [SPEAKER_01]: And I love. [SPEAKER_01]: being able to be in New York for Christmas time. [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I'm also excited to, um, I'm excited to chill, chill, exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we have a lot going on these ex couple weeks over here in my house as you know.
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, yeah, but I'm really excited about it. [SPEAKER_01]: Actually, as we speak, Nancy is moving here. [SPEAKER_01]: So literally, like arriving in about 30 minutes to move into their new place. [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm really excited to scurry down there and help them. [SPEAKER_01]: So same as you.
[SPEAKER_01]: Excited to spend a lot of time with family. [SPEAKER_01]: My family. [SPEAKER_01]: Breats family. [SPEAKER_00]: Our family. [SPEAKER_00]: You guys care. [SPEAKER_00]: Family's growing. [SPEAKER_00]: It is. [SPEAKER_00]: It is. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, um, literally Brett Sister is due any day now.
[SPEAKER_01]: So we're maybe already maybe already by the time this episode air she will be here and so I'm really excited for that. [SPEAKER_01]: This is the last year the tour baby is born [SPEAKER_01]: on to us a child was born. [SPEAKER_01]: And we're also, but we're also really excited. [SPEAKER_01]: It is our first last year as The Alt says and so like our families are melding.
[SPEAKER_01]: I will send me. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, well, it is true. [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm really excited that you and me, Bret and you. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I said it's our last year. [SPEAKER_01]: You and me. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no. [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm excited. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm excited for the holiday season.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm excited to end the year on a positive note and start the year on a really good note in a new place and we hope that you guys are excited for the holidays to spend time with friends family etc. [SPEAKER_01]: I loved ones. [SPEAKER_00]: It does sound like this is our last episode of the season, but it's not.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's not. [SPEAKER_01]: We are going to have a Gilmore to consider next week. [SPEAKER_01]: And we're going to have a couple of Gilmore to consider during the holiday quote unquote break because we are going to do a Gilmore to consider next week our GTS rap to which we do every year to end the year off the week after.
[SPEAKER_01]: and then we're going to start the year with a couple of, you know, episodes before we start. [SPEAKER_01]: Go more to say season five because you all know we love to start. [SPEAKER_01]: Close to the anniversary of when we kicked off the podcast in 2022. [SPEAKER_01]: This is going to be go more to say season five our fourth year of doing the podcast, which is crazy.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I guess it's our fifth year doing the podcast, but our fourth year anniversary of the show, which is. [SPEAKER_00]: of our launch of our launch because like we like we like to start off a season but there's no break it's just we one week it's season four and the next week it's five but we take our breaks by doing a couple of Gilmore to consider so if you guys have thoughts [SPEAKER_01]: on everything we talked about today.
[SPEAKER_01]: That is one of the ones that we want to center one of our Gilmore to considers on is like your thoughts, your feelings, your opinions on everything we talked about today and of Christmas special and how you feel about the book that's coming out with Amy has more in. [SPEAKER_01]: We want to hear what you guys think about that so call us with the number healing.
[SPEAKER_00]: eight, six, zero, five, seven, eight, four, six, five, three. [SPEAKER_00]: So glad you remember because I never do. [SPEAKER_00]: It's one of those things that I have to turn off my thinking part of my brain and let the rest of my brain take over the talking. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because I, I couldn't write it down right now.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, it just, it's just very automatic, but yeah, Colin, please do especially about this Christmas special or about the book. [SPEAKER_00]: We definitely want to elaborate more. [SPEAKER_00]: It'll be after Christmas, but you know, it'll be the year of [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's special.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: And just kind of, you know, me using on that, I think, together is a lot of fun. [SPEAKER_01]: We loved that we were able to survey you guys on Instagram about what you wanted to see, the what ifs that you wanted to propose and so it's really nice to take those and kind of expand upon them.
[SPEAKER_01]: We want to continue to do that. [SPEAKER_01]: And then I was going before we really kick off. [SPEAKER_01]: season five of Gilmore to say, which we have so much planned. [SPEAKER_01]: We've so much fun planned fun topics to discuss, which we might talk about a little bit in our Gilmore to say wrapped.
[SPEAKER_01]: So be sure to keep it out for that. [SPEAKER_00]: But we definitely can talk about our new years to like our yeah, colors of the year, like our intentions for the new year. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, but I feel like Amy and Lauren are continuing to talk about the show so it's like permission for us to continue talking about the show until at least 2027, you know, it just feels like feels like a good time, but yeah, so it sounds like we're saying goodbye, but we're not but we're not this is just, you know, this is kind of our like, you know, holiday send off before you guys, you know, before we all kind of [SPEAKER_01]: hunger down for the holidays but then we'll be back for the new year and of course give you a Gilmore to consider in between.
[SPEAKER_01]: In the meantime if you want please leave us a five-star review on Apple Podcasts and you know read us wherever you listen feel free to subscribe to us on YouTube and also if you want to join us for the rewatch club if you're not there already we are doing that patreon. [SPEAKER_01]: I think at this point we're at the end of season three going into season four.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we're mid season four. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, oh, wow. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh my gosh, okay, it's happened. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to get time though. [SPEAKER_01]: We're going to get time. [SPEAKER_01]: We love season four. [SPEAKER_01]: Really, famously, it loves season four. [SPEAKER_01]: But we will be back next week for a Gilmore to consider, be sure to call in with your thoughts.
[SPEAKER_01]: And we'll have more to say on that in the next episode.
