[SPEAKER_00]: But six, seven, eight, prequel. [SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about a Gilmore girls' prequel. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: All right, here we go. [SPEAKER_00]: They're appointed that out in between us starting this and saying that I haven't been here in a second I was like and now you say what's too as well This is a conversation.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, he'll just go back from Mexico and we we usually see each other like two to three times a week One if not more if not more [SPEAKER_01]: because we're, and we're always, you know, in touch, but of course last week felt like a little vacation, a little bit of like a step away, but we did have one day where we kind of like recorded and had a bunch of meetings, and yeah, et cetera.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it was just so funny to come back here and be like, how do I do this? [SPEAKER_00]: This is where. [SPEAKER_01]: five six seven one week away we've suddenly forgotten who we are and I know do our jobs but we're back we're here and we're going to talk about an Emily and Richard prequel today we're so excited this has been a highly anticipated episode for us for the besties we've been like teasing this for a really long time in all of our conversations about Richard and Emily and especially as we've gotten into maizele [SPEAKER_01]: which is very much the era and the time period where we believe an Emily and Richard Prequel would exist.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think every time we have conversations surrounding that we're like, oh, we can't wait to talk about what an Emily and Richard Prequel would be. [SPEAKER_01]: And it's interesting because we didn't plan it this way, but it just so happened to come on the heels of a very controversial Gilmore Girls Prequel that surfaced on the internet at this point a couple of weeks ago.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it just, I was like, oh my god, I can't believe that this is happening right at the time when we're about to talk about our own Gilmore girls' prequel that we've kind of dreamt up in our minds. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm so excited to see what you've brought to the table today. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, if that's a little pointed, I'm not going to lie, but I do want to, like, if you did see this prequel in heavy quotes.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, put it in air quotes. [SPEAKER_00]: Like air quotes. [SPEAKER_00]: Big quotes. [SPEAKER_00]: Big air quotes. [SPEAKER_00]: Because I 72 point air quotes. [SPEAKER_00]: Truly, Billboard air quotes. [SPEAKER_00]: But we had talked about doing this back in March as we were starting nasal, but I wanted to take a step back from it because I wanted to sync myself into that time period into some of those mindsets into the way like rose and mage talk because like that mother daughter relationship that time and just kind of get a sense of how any would approach that time period before we did it.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so we kind of always plan to do an August. [SPEAKER_00]: But then this [SPEAKER_00]: A.I. [SPEAKER_00]: Slop, early years, Gilmore Girls prequel popped up and it was like, huh, that's so fascinating. [SPEAKER_01]: It was definitely a choice and in case you missed it, I mean, it's been taken down for, yeah, for good reasons.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they infringed upon the, [SPEAKER_01]: likeness in the voices and the IP of something that doesn't belong to them. [SPEAKER_01]: And in my opinion, did it in just a really ikki way. [SPEAKER_01]: Ikki is the only way that I could describe it. [SPEAKER_01]: But it's been taken down and again, I think rightfully so.
[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't necessarily want to give it any more cloud than they've already been chasing and seeking and trying to really tout from this [SPEAKER_01]: video that they put out, but the long in the short of it is in case you missed it. [SPEAKER_01]: These two people created an AI Prequited as such a generous term.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, it's a shame about an AI prequel. [SPEAKER_00]: You can't be a storyteller using AI. [SPEAKER_00]: That's just an oxymoron You're using stolen work to create something and putting it in a prompt is what you're doing [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: That's all you're doing. [SPEAKER_00]: You are not creating anything original.
[SPEAKER_00]: You are not an artist doing this. [SPEAKER_00]: If you are an artist making art via an AI, you are a loser making trash with stormwork. [SPEAKER_01]: She said what she said I'd true like you genuinely can't you can't you can't call yourself an artist if you're using AI because you're using stolen work to do it and that's just especially in this instance especially in this instance because they truly took you know the likeness of Lauren Graham the stories that that Amy built and funneled it into this prequel which listen was a cute idea [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm not taking that away from anybody because we love to dream up and talk about things like this a lot on the podcast.
[SPEAKER_01]: What things like that would look like, but we use our imagination, we use again. [SPEAKER_01]: We like root it in the foundation of this show without an attempt to infringe on the intellectual property of a person that we deeply respect. [SPEAKER_01]: And what I found most is respectful about this attempt.
[SPEAKER_01]: and this video that was put up is that it was a pitch for them to create this series themselves. [SPEAKER_01]: And I thought that that was so disrespectful. [SPEAKER_00]: That's so strange. [SPEAKER_01]: It was so odd. [SPEAKER_01]: And they would never, no one would ever do that without Amy.
[SPEAKER_01]: 100%. [SPEAKER_01]: But I think that in their minds, at least based on the comments that they were responding to. [SPEAKER_01]: And the encouragement of people in the comments being like, oh, I don't care if this is AI. [SPEAKER_01]: It's, yeah, they were like, yeah, they were really encouraging it and they were like, what else should we do?
[SPEAKER_01]: What else would you like to see in people asking for more in them being? [SPEAKER_01]: Like, we'll do more. [SPEAKER_01]: We want to make the whole series and I was like, this is so gross. [SPEAKER_01]: This is so gross that you're doing this and that you claim to be quote unquote traditional filmmakers and storytellers and that you claim to respect the IP and this creator and the people who are on screen.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so I just found it to lack artistic integrity. [SPEAKER_01]: If you were with us in 2023 or even if you binge our episodes after they came out, [SPEAKER_01]: you all know that the writer's strike and the sagstrike of 2023 was marching for this exact reason so that they could protect their likeness, their voices, their IP.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I just felt like this was a direct violation of all of those things we marched for, so I found that to be [SPEAKER_01]: kind of a conundrum. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's why I found their messaging about how successful this video was that went viral for them. [SPEAKER_01]: All they cared about were the likes, the comments, and the fact that people really rallied behind them to make this a series.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I found that once it was taken down, there was no acknowledgement of like, hey, we never meant to like, in French on anybody's rights, we never meant to. [SPEAKER_01]: No, but if you're putting that much work into it, there's some disregard for that. [SPEAKER_01]: you know like if they're taking ownership after the fact it's like why did you make it right to begin with so they had no and and that to me I also felt like doubled down on the disrespect it was like once the video was taken down they were like our video got taken down but here's all the likes in the comments it got it but it got like ratio so hard with the shares that it's like people were talking about you they weren't liking this
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, people like I have the comments in that comment section were like hey, I hate this. [SPEAKER_01]: This is really bad that you did guys, but they didn't care and I just I found that to be toned up and that's exactly what I said and the person who I was talking to in my DM said like you can hate AI all you want to I said I don't hate AI I hate the unnecessary and unethical use of AI especially in the arts and I found it unethical to use this pitch as a series.
[SPEAKER_01]: that is a direct use of IP that does not belong to you. [SPEAKER_00]: Caleb Herron on his podcast so true, he talked about like in 70 years, if he looks so silly for having been so against AI, he's 100% okay with that. [SPEAKER_00]: If you have to like, you know, like have egg on your face in 70 years because it ended up being something entirely different, that's fine.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm okay by the time people know that what you're doing is wrong, that you're not a storyteller for using AI. [SPEAKER_00]: that traditional filmmaking using AI does not use film or making, you are a prompt master, and you need to just own that. [SPEAKER_00]: Using that shortcut of AI to be an artist, you're actually taking all the humanity out of it, and I find that I'm okay making it.
[SPEAKER_00]: not a personal attack but making it personal in the sense that like you are not an artist and you need to go through your head. [SPEAKER_00]: And if in 70 years like he said, if that's different, by all means, but right now you're not an artist. [SPEAKER_00]: You are a typist. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's your short hand girl.
[SPEAKER_00]: You're short hand girl. [SPEAKER_01]: You're a shorthand. [SPEAKER_01]: You're a shorthand girl. [SPEAKER_01]: All around. [SPEAKER_01]: I just felt like it was tasteless. [SPEAKER_01]: I felt like their messaging was toned off. [SPEAKER_01]: And I didn't agree with it. [SPEAKER_01]: But it gave us a really great opportunity to have that conversation here today because when we talk about prequels, we talk about the possibility of them happening.
[SPEAKER_01]: First of all, it comes from the brain of Amy Sherman Paladino and Amy Sherman Paladino. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we have only two of that. [SPEAKER_00]: But we love to kind of pull at the threads that she gave us. [SPEAKER_01]: to dream up what it would look like, and I don't think you need AI to do that, which is why we're here today.
[SPEAKER_00]: No, like ours is like more of like a fan fiction approach, like a what if, let's just chat about this. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like the whole concept of our podcasts, who's taking this TV show too seriously, because you guys do that exact same thing. [SPEAKER_00]: Like I love that for y'all that like we're just gonna take these little threads and pull them all together and see what it could possibly be like and if Amy wants to go off in her own direction and make this and it's nothing like this, I love it.
[SPEAKER_00]: I do too. [SPEAKER_01]: acknowledging what just happened and I also felt that it was important to talk about because if anybody out there You know saw this. [SPEAKER_01]: I was like, oh my god. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm so excited. [SPEAKER_01]: This is so cool and didn't understand kind of the outside Remifications of what something like that does.
[SPEAKER_01]: I just thought it would be I thought it would be helpful [SPEAKER_01]: And maybe a little educational to share why people had such a visceral reaction to it because they're listened. [SPEAKER_01]: Some of the comments passed the vibe check. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh for sure. [SPEAKER_01]: They were like, this is all for our life.
[SPEAKER_00]: We love that for you. [SPEAKER_00]: Hell yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Anyway. [SPEAKER_01]: Now that we've gotten that out of the way, I'm really excited to talk about this. [SPEAKER_01]: I need to. [SPEAKER_01]: We put up some questions boxes on our Instagram to hear what you guys wanted to kind of dream up alongside us and like some of the scenes you wanted to see, but I think that we should start with what we know because I think that that will create a really solid foundation for where we can go because Amy did give us some things to play with, some history, mostly about Richard, [SPEAKER_01]: I think it should be Emily Gilmore centered.
[SPEAKER_00]: No, I think it should be dual POV. [SPEAKER_00]: You do. [SPEAKER_00]: Or like, okay, that's actually a question that I have for you. [SPEAKER_00]: Do you think it should be in the style of, like, it's all Emily Gilmore focused, and we get other characters in the style of, like, the Marvels Misses Measle, where she's the main character.
[SPEAKER_00]: but we get the Gilmourification of like getting a bunch of different storylines to add to hers, or do you want it to be like, she is the main character, she is the one that we're following the whole time. [SPEAKER_01]: I think that it should be Alla Mazzle, Alla Gilmour Girls. [SPEAKER_01]: We're like, Laura lives the main character and it's mostly her POV until it's not, same with Mitch.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think that that is the way that personally I think that's the way Amy would approach it with Emily, because Emily's character is who we know the least about in this series. [SPEAKER_01]: when it comes to Richard, like there are certain things that we already know about Richard Gilmore and his history and his family.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I think we can eventually see that, but I don't know that we need to see his POV as much as we need to see Emily's POV. [SPEAKER_01]: And my opinion. [SPEAKER_00]: I kind of, I want enough of his admittedly because I think there's a lot of things that would be quite interesting to dive into his history of because I actually thought a really fun starting point that feels very full circle parallel to the series itself is to start in like 1962 sophomore year at Yale.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because it feels like starting in Vori's sophomore year of course. [SPEAKER_00]: But it's exactly what I put. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god Look at us two guys one brain cells That's one brain of course. [SPEAKER_00]: I feel like a lot of people would land on that sort of idea just because like with a prequel Like you don't want it to like just entirely call back to the original source like [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and I watched the first episode of L. The Legally Blonde Prequel, which they really missed the mark on that entirely because it really was referencing the movie rather than like using the movie as like source material for.
[SPEAKER_00]: the prequel. [SPEAKER_01]: I've only seen the first episode, but I and you don't need to agree with you so far. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, when we watched that together when we were in Florida, I remember just, I said this to you. [SPEAKER_01]: I looked at you and I was like, the end of this first episode is like episode three.
[SPEAKER_01]: I know. [SPEAKER_01]: Why did we get it? [SPEAKER_01]: Like, too fast. [SPEAKER_01]: It was fast. [SPEAKER_01]: They needed to set up L's world. [SPEAKER_01]: And like, who she was when she was in high school, which of course we can, we can imagine ourselves knowing the character of Elwoods and who she is by the time she goes to Harvard, and being at CULA and everything that we see in the movie, but you needed to set up the stakes for us.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Is that kind of what you want with Emily? [SPEAKER_00]: Like, do you want to follow her relief specifically in the way that we follow El in the prequel? [SPEAKER_01]: kind of. [SPEAKER_01]: I have, okay, so here's how I broke it down. [SPEAKER_01]: I wanted to start with like the foundation of what we know and and put us in the scene and then kind of talk about the tone and then move into the scenes that we want to see.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, because we also asked, oh, we also asked her some CDs. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I know. [SPEAKER_01]: So I was thinking about what year to start in. [SPEAKER_01]: I think like early 60s, 1960, to his perfect because we know that Richard was born in January of 1943, which puts him in college in the early 1960s.
[SPEAKER_01]: And subsequently, he meets Emily, who was going to Smith, which he's all healed from season seven. [SPEAKER_01]: Is it? [SPEAKER_01]: No, I think she talks about it. [SPEAKER_01]: I thought that she talked about it in the earlier seasons. [SPEAKER_00]: When? [SPEAKER_00]: And maybe, maybe I'm wrong.
[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe she does. [SPEAKER_00]: But I just remember she talks about it, and I'm Kai, a Kiermi Rourer, that she or I'm a kind of Kiermi Rourer. [SPEAKER_00]: I have like a lot of beef with the name I know. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that she says she was a history major at Smith. [SPEAKER_01]: I thought she mentioned going to Smith earlier in the series and if you guys out there know if there's any mention of it before season seven, let us talk about it when she when she talks about field hockey, field hockey, that's what I'm thinking and love and more in snow, that's kind of what I'm wondering, but Yale did not accept female students until 1989, so it does make sense.
[SPEAKER_01]: And Smith was part of the historic seven sister's group, I think it still is, of elite women's colleges, which was created kind of as the female equivalent to the male Ivy League. [SPEAKER_01]: So it's said that they would often have parties mingling with the Ivy League men, like the ALEs.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so it takes us back to like, when you showed up at my fraternity party and that blue dress I have a choice. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, we'll get into the blue dress. [SPEAKER_00]: I have so many thoughts about that. [SPEAKER_00]: We'll get into it. [SPEAKER_01]: But in my research, someone on Reddit said, in read the vibes of the times, they said, if you're into it, highly recommend the book.
[SPEAKER_01]: seven sister style. [SPEAKER_01]: It's mainly about the fashion on the seven sister's campuses during this period, but also goes into the lifestyle on how women's colleges would connect them with men's Ivy League colleges. [SPEAKER_01]: I always think about Emily when I'm flicking through it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Lots of wonderful photos of women traveling to see their boyfriends at Harvard's last year on the weekends wearing their boyfriends' college scarves, et cetera. [SPEAKER_01]: what's interesting is that Smith is a Massachusetts. [SPEAKER_01]: So I find it interesting that she ended up with a Yale man instead of a Harvard man.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, that would be such a good storyline. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: I just think that it would add so much to like the rivalry and I already know that Harvard Yale has like such a rivalry. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: But I just think it's so interesting that she went to school in Massachusetts, which funny I did look up and it does say like when she's talking, I'm getting kicked off the field hockey team, which we will talk about she went to Smith, so it was discussed earlier in this series, but I would have just looked a little bit further down on my notes.
[SPEAKER_00]: I did explain that to myself. [SPEAKER_00]: So I looked it up on mine. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, but I was because I we repuffed for this before I went to Mexico and so looking back at my notes I'm like I know I had to like sure to let us up. [SPEAKER_01]: We were supposed to record this episode like two weeks ago week ago and I had construction going outside my my apartment.
[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah pushed it But it felt like an eternity ago that I prepped this so I had to like get back into it I had to like I know my notes and [SPEAKER_00]: It's just a fun typing. [SPEAKER_01]: They're like, no, she said it then and now you're like backspace and you're like, oh, okay, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: But you know, as far as like tone goes, I really love that the person who who's comment earlier I read on Reddit talked about seven sister style because I looked up the book and it looks so fabulous and I want to read it. [SPEAKER_01]: But this also really reminded me of Mona Lisa's smile.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Why, why did we both talk about that recently? [SPEAKER_00]: Because we were, it kind of feels like a little storyline in May's all in season two. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, but like both of us like randomly, like I think it came up on my feet or something. [SPEAKER_01]: I go like a clip from it, great film.
[SPEAKER_01]: That takes place in the early 50s, so we are about 10 years removed from that. [SPEAKER_01]: But in May's all, you know, Rose, if you guys are following along with us, or if you've seen the show, Rose does audit a class at Columbia, and so I find it really interesting that there were certain schools, especially in the Ivy League category, that women were not allowed to attend full time at.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so it sounds like they really built this collective of schools that could be the Ivy League [SPEAKER_00]: I also love that brand-mar, the one that midge, went to is also one of them, but I think it's an interesting idea to, I don't know, it's reminding me of like season one, to season two of Gamor Girls, we're like maybe we focus more on Emily and her sophomore year, because I'm just assuming that Emily and Richard are just like the same age, that they went to school at the same time, they're in the same year, very like or at the very least, [SPEAKER_00]: I was just about to say that.
[SPEAKER_01]: I was literally just about to say like, if Emily is a sophomore, maybe Richard is a junior, but here is where, yes, but here's where I want to talk about some of the major players that we're going to see because I do think that that's important before we like go into some of the origin story and also some of the scenes obviously Emily Gilmore and in her world, I would really love to meet Emily's mother.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I actually need to meet her mother and I need to meet Hopi and Hopi is next on the list because I would be fascinated by like Emily being a sophomore which you're being a junior, but if we start Emily sophomore year with Hopi coming in as a freshman like in my mind they're very close in age [SPEAKER_01]: but they are like far enough apart that they didn't go to like they weren't in the exact same grade.
[SPEAKER_01]: And like it was giving for me kind of this like an affair child where you go more kind of dynamic where Emily's there to study and maybe she's there to find a husband. [SPEAKER_00]: But she's there for education and hopey is there to like socialize. [SPEAKER_00]: See I think it's the other way around.
[SPEAKER_01]: I just see, especially because she moves to Paris. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, I see Hopi, like gravitating towards this kind of vagabond existence. [SPEAKER_01]: It's very lower, like, a more than Emily does not understand. [SPEAKER_00]: I think that the reason I see Emily as more traditional 1950's early 1960's lady is because of what we hear her say to Lorelie and there's the rub, like I was not taught to be friends with my daughter, that she got a very traditional wife education, like an MRS is a lot of people's [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, that like she knew what she wanted to do, which was to be a wife and so she was doing like all the things that she was learning and service of that.
[SPEAKER_00]: I saw Hopi as wanting to be her own person and like maybe she wanted to be art and like in the same style of like Rose Weissman had like a love for Paris and so maybe she wanted to go study art and Paris. [SPEAKER_00]: And like, she was kind of in that same way, like the black sheep of the family, kind of like the vagabond existence.
[SPEAKER_00]: That reminds me of Titanic. [SPEAKER_00]: You find this vagabond existence appealing, do you? [SPEAKER_00]: That she wanted to like go off be her own person. [SPEAKER_00]: She didn't want to find out, like, or maybe she wanted to like break free of that. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, I don't want to find a husband.
[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe she feels a lot like, well, we're like you said. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, she's reminiscent of that. [SPEAKER_00]: That if maybe we would have had OP in the original series, [SPEAKER_00]: Turn to, like, felt supportive. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm in some way. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, someone totally understood her.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's what I'm saying just in like maybe a different font. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, Emily is more on like the straight and narrow path. [SPEAKER_01]: Hopes a little more fluid. [SPEAKER_01]: And want something different and it ends up causing a little bit of a rift between them. [SPEAKER_01]: Whereas, like, I just think that that would be really interesting.
[SPEAKER_01]: If Emily wants her to follow in her footsteps and she's, it's a very small storyline, of course. [SPEAKER_01]: But like similar to the Rory Gilmore and a fair child, [SPEAKER_01]: Expectations like she expects Anna to come to Yale and want to learn about a bench. [SPEAKER_01]: Want to learn about the library.
[SPEAKER_01]: And Anna's just like, I love that there are no uniform. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: She's like, I can eat ice cream, random sex whenever you want. [SPEAKER_01]: I love college. [SPEAKER_01]: You know what? [SPEAKER_01]: I feel like that would be in a more 1960s font. [SPEAKER_01]: the relationship between Emily and Hopi.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're Emily, like those interns offering her, she's so excited for her sister to be there with her, and it just doesn't work out the way that she wants it to. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: So it's, and that's kind of the history that I want on Emily Gilmore. [SPEAKER_00]: I will say I think, and I'm like mapping this out way too much of my head, but like each year feels like a year of school, like in the in the way that most shows do.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that I feel like maybe Hopy is a season two storyline that like she comes in, she shake things up a bit, so like there's kind of like a status quo for Emily and season one. [SPEAKER_00]: that maybe it's like, I'm not sure, but I think that I want them to be like just far enough apart in age that there was enough of a separation between Emily going to college, and I'll be kind of realizing she could be her own person, not in Emily Shadow, because Emily Shadow feels like it's very big, and it might be hard to escape it, but I also love the idea of [SPEAKER_00]: kind of learning more about why Emily kind of has like this like snippy attitude really that she's like kind of angry sometimes the way that she talks to people she is a bit of a sassy girl you know and seeing how that relates to a sister because if you are a sassy person to the people around you it's tenfold to your sister
[SPEAKER_00]: love to see that relationship kind of play out. [SPEAKER_01]: It is kind of oldest daughter, though, I will say. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, oldest daughter can have that, I say that as one. [SPEAKER_01]: Can have that kind of, like, don't mess with me. [SPEAKER_01]: I know best kind of attitude.
[SPEAKER_01]: And that's something Emily go more radiant. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: But I would love to see her dynamic with her mom. [SPEAKER_00]: Of course. [SPEAKER_00]: But also her dad, who's her dad? [SPEAKER_00]: Do you want to see her dad? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: We don't really hear a lot about her dad.
[SPEAKER_00]: I would love to see him. [SPEAKER_00]: I think that he would be very much like Richard, like, reading his paper, she's talking to him, she's just carrying the conversation, but in a way that maybe her dad is not listening, because I love that about Richard that even though he's reading the paper, he is hearing everything that she's saying and he is taking it all in.
[SPEAKER_00]: That is so. [SPEAKER_00]: I kind of, I think that there's some similarities that we could pull at without making it the same and seeing how he's a little bit different than that. [SPEAKER_01]: My question for you is how would you feel about her not having a father? [SPEAKER_01]: And that is why she's constantly telling Laura lie.
[SPEAKER_01]: A daughter needs a mother and a father. [SPEAKER_01]: Hmm interesting because she's so hell bent on that and there's a part of me that feels like maybe the reason for that is because she grew up in a single parent household specifically a single mother household. [SPEAKER_00]: Do we like the idea that Emily and Richard neither of them have fathers?
[SPEAKER_00]: Hmm that this is there's no fathers in the prequel. [SPEAKER_00]: No one has a father. [SPEAKER_01]: You're right. [SPEAKER_01]: No one has a father. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because we never, we never even hear about it from Richard. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, oh, you're dad hated me.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Or your dad was there. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Anything about him. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: I think I like, I think I like the idea of her having a father and maybe needing a mother and a father's, the Richard side of it. [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: Hmm, I could go either way on that. [SPEAKER_01]: Not like totally attached to it that I'm like, it has to be that way. [SPEAKER_01]: It's just something that I thought of because I didn't even consider her father in this. [SPEAKER_01]: And it just kind of hit me that I was like, oh, yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: That could be the reason she's constantly harping on a child needs a mother and a father. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, the other person that I really want her to have like a interesting storyline with is Marie Randall because she was her college roommate and we learned that in partings because we meet her daughter who is the therapist, Carolyn, Lennie for those in the know.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and so I would love to meet Marie and kind of have like that be her gal like that be her suki or I don't know if they were enemies. [SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't seem like that based on when we meet Carolyn and the other person of course being CC Everett's who she elbowed in the neck [SPEAKER_01]: I need to see that elbow.
[SPEAKER_00]: I need to see the group of gals, but I feel like Marie Randall would either be like her paris where it's like they were maybe enemies and became friends or they were friends and maybe they have a rift or she is just her suki honesty hour type friend too. [SPEAKER_00]: She loops elbows with and they march across Yale campus to go see.
[SPEAKER_00]: Boys. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I love that. [SPEAKER_01]: I think there's a lot to explore there and some character names that were thrown out there that I'm sure Amy kind of forgets about when it comes to this kind of stuff. [SPEAKER_01]: But we did not forget who I'm interested to see the dynamic between is when it comes to Emily is her and panel in law.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you have Lini. [SPEAKER_01]: Let me think of Lini, that mouse. [SPEAKER_00]: Ugh, I like need the origin of that. [SPEAKER_00]: Like I need like it to be like Marie Randall. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Is like, you know, he's not gonna end up with that mouse. [SPEAKER_00]: Like maybe we get like, that's her code name as you end up in college with like, there's girls and guys that like you end up having calling by like a random name.
[SPEAKER_00]: That mouse feels like hers. [SPEAKER_01]: That feels like hers as well as Lucinda Lester, who's brought up in love and war and snow, having looked like Earl Flynn. [SPEAKER_00]: poor girl, poor girls in the blaster, but I feel like that is more like on Richard's side for saying it's like that sort of his character, but I don't know where she went to school.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, I don't either. [SPEAKER_01]: And for me, like, the panel in lot of it all, the reason that there's curiosity there is because I want to know if she and Emily were friends to the police school. [SPEAKER_00]: I feel like [SPEAKER_00]: maybe because like I like the idea of the girls kind of coming together Yale from different schools in meeting each other that way.
[SPEAKER_00]: And either it's like starts friendly and becomes competition because here are the guys that we're all vying for if you will. [SPEAKER_00]: This is Love Island. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a new thing. [SPEAKER_00]: No, no, they don't have cell phones, but totally, they probably don't even have water bottles, you know, but it's same vibes, but I can't decide if I want her to be like right off the bat very friendly with her or if she just immediately does not like her and maybe everyone else does, I'm not sure, I'm not sure would make the betrayal worse because at the end of the day, I'm not sure if I'm not sure if I'm not sure if I'm not sure if I'm not sure if I'm not sure if I'm not sure if I'm not sure if I'm not sure if I'm not sure if I'm not sure if I'm not sure if I'm not sure if I'm not sure if I'm not sure if I'm not sure if I'm not sure if I'm not sure if I'm not sure if I'm not sure if I'm not sure if I'm not sure if I'm not sure if I'm not sure if I'm not sure if I'm not sure if I'm not sure
[SPEAKER_00]: Penelinen is not the one that's betraying anyone. [SPEAKER_00]: No, it's Emily who's stepping in on things. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I like the idea of that Being what our purview is like that's the story that we've heard but it's been so much more complicated past nuanced and like Emily didn't do anything wrong.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like maybe there is a definitive understandable valid reason that Emily does not like Penelinen lot [SPEAKER_00]: I kind of like that there's not it's like it just I took one look at you in that blue dress and I was like, okay, back it up there, but I think on his end, we have to eat meat pinlin we have to see young grand like we need young tricks and I want to know what her role is in all of this like did she also go to like one of the seven sister schools.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I guess I don't know what the history is there when those started when those date back to. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, she's like, what? [SPEAKER_01]: A thousand years old? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: So something long, those lines. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: They're founding years spanning from 1837 to 1889.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: So she's at least that old. [SPEAKER_01]: The formal group was later organized during the conferences held between 1915 and 1926. [SPEAKER_01]: That's, yeah, okay. [SPEAKER_00]: That makes sense. [SPEAKER_00]: She would definitely have gone to one of those. [SPEAKER_00]: It's not for Smith.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't know if I love the idea or hate the idea of grand also having gone to Smith and like meeting Emily and being like, um, or like going to a different one and Penalyn went to that one. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And maybe that's why she, like, like, she aligns with her. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: She aligns with her more. [SPEAKER_01]: I just also like the idea of tricks being involved in whatever these like mixer parties are. [SPEAKER_01]: And because she was like a part of a sorority or something, and she's part of the mingling and like, she sees Penalyn, she wants the two of them together.
[SPEAKER_01]: She's like, maybe I want her. [SPEAKER_00]: I want her. [SPEAKER_01]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe she grows a Smith party? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't rhyme. [SPEAKER_01]: I like that go. [SPEAKER_01]: I really like the idea of her throwing her own version of the mailing album party.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's where Emily and Richard got the idea because, mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_01]: We've been through this. [SPEAKER_01]: We've been here before. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And maybe Emily wasn't invited. [SPEAKER_00]: Hmm, maybe she just showed up with her single mom. [SPEAKER_00]: I just love the idea of her constantly doing things to upset Graham, and then being like, I don't know why your mom hates me.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the other one is for her. [SPEAKER_00]: That is so Blair of her mom. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, just being skinny and being like, no idea why she hates me. [SPEAKER_00]: No idea why she wrote this letter. [SPEAKER_00]: Also, I'd love to see the other Richard was just like his roommates and his group of friends.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, and also like maybe why he wasn't in the life and death brigade because I don't Yes, no, I don't think he was either, but I like the idea of him maybe like oh man If there was like a young Mitchum or you know like a young not Mitchum, but his grandfather Elias Elias and like the two of them went to call together and [SPEAKER_01]: I do love the idea of Richard being kind of a Logan, but I also like the idea of him being Logan adjacent, like we see Elias Hunsberger and he's the Logan and which is a Lothario in his own way.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, still a Lothario, but like maybe like maybe more of a nerdy version is kind of what I'm seeing, like he sings Occupella instead of being in the secret society. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you know, it's just six of [SPEAKER_01]: But I also like the idea that maybe, you know, because one of the scenes that I really want to see is after Emily and Richard meet the step back front wrinkle inside and if that really is, you know, let's say he and Elias have a little bit of a rivalry if it's like there's sort of a bit of a contest to be like to get more of the ladies than the other one, but they have been there at the same time.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: I guess I would have to go back to Norman Miller and pregnant to look to see what year that photo was from because I don't know that they were there at the same time. [SPEAKER_01]: I might have been in the 50s. [SPEAKER_01]: There's like nothing that's immediately coming up.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because if I'm being honest, I think that I don't necessarily want him to be directly connected to a character in the original series too closely. [SPEAKER_00]: I think I would rather like maybe like an Easter egg while he's there. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, that's a huntsburger.
[SPEAKER_00]: like getting names like that thrown in so that we have like flexibility to not step too hard on the original series too much and like back to the future suddenly the picture is disappearing because we're messing with it too much totally that like the in that regard because I kind of like the idea of they're being someone else and maybe Emily is like initially interested in someone [SPEAKER_01]: I think it's as 1951, but it could say 1961.
[SPEAKER_01]: I can't fully read it. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I guess Hunsberger. [SPEAKER_00]: It's difficult to say. [SPEAKER_01]: This is the picture. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like, kind of knowing I'm pregnant. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Nobody I'm with you. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, I do think sometimes when there's too much of that, it can just feel a little sticky.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's really what I mean, is like I wanted to feel like authentic, but like I love the idea of like referencing names and like hearing about people like last names that we know and be like, oh, okay, that's fun. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but I super love the idea of the speaking of the frown step back wrinkle inside is Emily seeing him do it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, like with someone and coming up to him and being in like mocking him for it and I was like, [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I actually like the idea of like, if she's at the gallery for like with like an art class or something, for like history class, maybe with Hopi. [SPEAKER_01]: And she sees it and she just kind of takes no and then later, if they're dating, he takes her to the same gallery and he does it and she's just like, oh, this is your move.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is your move, he's like, what do you mean? [SPEAKER_01]: And she's like, I've seen you do this before and he's like, no, no. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's kind of what I saw. [SPEAKER_01]: I love or like if she has to visit there over and over and over and over again at every time she goes He's there doing the same thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, different girl. [SPEAKER_00]: I love the idea of her just being like I just love his idea of her approaching him like out of the blue like I kind of [SPEAKER_00]: Not like a rivalry, but like in that same sort of Logan Hunt's burger, there's like a tension between them. [SPEAKER_00]: That's not immediately friendly and like maybe kind of always was going to be romantic between the two of them.
[SPEAKER_00]: Not in the way of like Lenny Bruce, my man, where it's like, are you guys gonna kiss or you could it's gonna be best friends forever, but I like feel like it's like always had a towards relationship that I just have the idea of her walking up and being like completely dressing him down over it.
[SPEAKER_00]: like, I've seen you come in here and do this this many times. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, do you actually, do you actually care? [SPEAKER_00]: Do you actually even like art? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I just also love the idea of him doing it at their date and her not falling for it. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Or being the only woman who's not like spending over it because she's seen it before. [SPEAKER_01]: And she's also like, okay. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you know, because I don't feel like he would date her the same way that he dates other girls in the same and like in that too, [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but I think that's the thing is I think he tried to and she's not like other girls.
[SPEAKER_00]: She's not like other girls. [SPEAKER_00]: She's different. [SPEAKER_01]: But taking it back a little bit to the first time that they meet, I kind of like the idea of them meeting at a party. [SPEAKER_01]: Like a fraternity party and she's wearing a blue dress, but it's not the moment like it's a full circle moment that comes back around A his fraternity party.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's maybe a little more upscale and she shows up in this like very beautiful blue dress once like Penal and Law is in the mix and and whatnot and that's the moment But it's a little bit of a call back to the first time they meet. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think the first time he sees her is when he's gonna be like, oh, yeah That's my girl kind of like [SPEAKER_01]: Bory and Logan.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like the first time they see each other is when she's not whatever. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's kind of whatever. [SPEAKER_01]: And like it's like my number is is cute But he's not like immediately taken with her in the sense that it's like, oh my god That's my girl. [SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
[SPEAKER_01]: I think it would be cool to do kind of a full circle like she walks in in a blue dress And if you know you know you're thinking this is the moment as an odd thing. [SPEAKER_00]: This is the blue dress, but it's not I love a blue dress T's of like is this the moment is this the moment? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but then when the moment arrives, you're like, this is simply dress and I hope it's not like a situation or I would hope I act like this is going to be real, which would be a win.
[SPEAKER_00]: Be quite fun. [SPEAKER_00]: But it's not like a red dress situation with Bory and the Revival. [SPEAKER_00]: When we finally see it, we're like, this is what you were looking for, girl. [SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no, no, no. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm a little more. [SPEAKER_00]: No, I just, I feel like something absolutely stunning, just just to wow him.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because like, that's a moment that I really want to see. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, I feel like everyone wants to see the moment when she shows up his, his fraternity, where he had no choice, but to pick her. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's why I think that the stakes have to be higher. [SPEAKER_01]: It has to be later in the series.
[SPEAKER_01]: It can't be the first time they're seeing each other. [SPEAKER_01]: And it's like, [SPEAKER_01]: he's choosing between her and Penalyn Law, or at least he thinks maybe he's chosen, and then she walks in in the blue dress and he's like, all right, that's my girl. [SPEAKER_00]: I just love that Emily kind of re-rights at though in let the games begin.
[SPEAKER_00]: That like, he was engaged. [SPEAKER_00]: And I feel like we have to build to that. [SPEAKER_00]: We have to have him get with Penalyn. [SPEAKER_00]: We have to have that whole thing happen. [SPEAKER_00]: The invitations were sent out, he said. [SPEAKER_00]: And I feel like that, that's a drama that we have to slowly build towards.
[SPEAKER_00]: But there's so many scenes that y'all sent [SPEAKER_00]: Have to be included basically all of the ones that I wrote down all of the ones that I forgot that you guys remember that you put in the question box We're just perfect, but before we get into that I do want to talk a little bit about fan casting for this if this were to be made today right now Who would play Emily who would play Richard and this was something else so we put on our Instagram story and you guys submitted [SPEAKER_00]: And before we actually talk about our answers, I have to remind all of you that Lake Meester is 40 years old.
[SPEAKER_01]: There were a lot of people that were put in to both Emily and Richard's fan cast that I was like, these people are unfortunately too old. [SPEAKER_01]: Like young Blair Waldorf would have made a great young Emily Gilmore. [SPEAKER_00]: But Lake Meester is 40 and thus she will not be putting a 20 year old.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry. [SPEAKER_01]: I have Mary in Coutillard because I've always seen her as the young Elie Gilmore, but she is, she has aged out of being a college student. [SPEAKER_01]: She's Emily Gilmore. [SPEAKER_01]: I would love to see her as Emily's mom. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, standing.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because marrying Coteard is just, I mean, if you guys don't remember, one of the things she's, I think, most known for her's inception. [SPEAKER_00]: I watched that on a plane recently. [SPEAKER_00]: You did, so I would see it on the same. [SPEAKER_00]: That's so funny. [SPEAKER_00]: It was okay.
[SPEAKER_00]: Honestly, I didn't, it wasn't my faith. [SPEAKER_01]: I loved it when I first saw it. [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: But she, fantastic in that. [SPEAKER_00]: And would make a great Emily's mom, Mrs. Cass. [SPEAKER_00]: Do we know Emily's maiden name? [SPEAKER_00]: No, mhm, Mrs. Emily's mom, Mrs. Emily's mom.
[SPEAKER_00]: Or Mrs. Emily's mom, who's to say, who knows? [SPEAKER_00]: But in terms of people who feel castable at that age, I immediately thought Emily Bader for young people said that. [SPEAKER_00]: because she has that look. [SPEAKER_00]: She played Poppy and people we meet on vacation. [SPEAKER_00]: She is going to be Mia Ham and the upcoming the 99ners about the women soccer team, which I think is excellent, because she just has that look.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, she's also about to be in the remake of 13 going out 30 years. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, for me, I just think she's a little too like it's she's everywhere right now. [SPEAKER_01]: And so for me, everybody being like Emily Bader, I'm like, it's she's doing too much right now for me to be [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, to be in this pretend prequel, but yes, I just mean to say like I want someone There was someone who said this and they were like I want someone who's a little more unknown And I was like, I would love someone to know me.
[SPEAKER_00]: But I don't know who that is. [SPEAKER_00]: That's true. [SPEAKER_00]: I guess we don't know them. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah [SPEAKER_01]: So of the people I do know like I know I know that Emily Bader's a moment right now And so I think a lot of people were like Emily Bader and I was like she's literally like so happy for her That's amazing like she is she is popping off right now She's having a moment, but I think because of that I'm a little more adverse to her doing this because I'm so that's so funny that you're adverse to someone popular doing a pretend Pretty cool.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah [SPEAKER_01]: Well, just because I think that that's like, I don't know, it almost feels like too obvious. [SPEAKER_01]: And I do think it's because she's the moment right now. [SPEAKER_00]: I also just love her as an actress. [SPEAKER_00]: I think that she was fantastic. [SPEAKER_00]: I love to her more in Lady Jane, if any of you love her in Lady Jane, which I haven't seen.
[SPEAKER_00]: She was phenomenal the fact that she was okay and people we meet on vacation. [SPEAKER_00]: I think she carried that movie on her back. [SPEAKER_00]: I just think that she, she would have, I think the right spunk that Emily has. [SPEAKER_00]: I think that's what, for me, you would have to capture, is that attitude.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think that a lot of people could have the right look, but I think that you have to come in with that pizazz, that sass that Emily has, that kind of a shut brought to it. [SPEAKER_00]: My curly hair, no one can ever live up to her, but I think that that is where I pull her in. [SPEAKER_01]: Someone literally said like, no one, you got to put Kelly Bishop in the time machine.
[SPEAKER_01]: I actually think actually let me change my mind. [SPEAKER_00]: That is my first choice. [SPEAKER_00]: But until time machine invention, [SPEAKER_00]: We will we will go with my second choice. [SPEAKER_01]: I will say some of the other ones that made me like my eyebrows raised go Oh, okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: I never thought about this, but Mod Appetal. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know her ranges in actor, which is on a slide It's just I don't know it, but she definitely has the look [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and I think that's more so in terms of fan casting right now what I'm thinking of because I feel like she has like if you put her hair up, give her like a very mid signature hair cut, um, that she could definitely lean into that.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't know enough about her acting to do it, but I feel like this is more just the look. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, another name that was thrown out there that made me go, oh, was Sadie Sink. [SPEAKER_00]: Interesting. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I was like, oh, I can kind of see that because Emily has like a Auburn brown hair.
[SPEAKER_00]: She doesn't have like true Brown I would say like it's there's there's there's some red in there But it's not like Sadie's sink red. [SPEAKER_01]: No, I just think people were talking about like her face. [SPEAKER_00]: No, no, no Yes, I'm just I'm I'm thinking of her in terms of like putting brown hair on her head You know, I don't want to do it, but I could I could see it.
[SPEAKER_00]: I could see it like face wise [SPEAKER_00]: I feel like you have to have quite small face. [SPEAKER_00]: Is that weird? [SPEAKER_00]: Because I feel like Sadie's sink and Emily have like Emily Bader have quite small faces. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what that means. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, like a small face.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, sure. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: So that's how you grew with me. [SPEAKER_01]: But I feel like those are like three choices that I feel like I could get behind. [SPEAKER_00]: I hear by all of them. [SPEAKER_00]: The options were a little more limited for Richard.
[SPEAKER_00]: This one was interesting because like you have to remember how tall he is, how cute he is. [SPEAKER_00]: So like casting just anyone is not gonna work for him because Ed Herman was such like a huge, [SPEAKER_00]: person, you know, he was tall and he was big. [SPEAKER_00]: That sounds great.
[SPEAKER_00]: That sounds insulting, but no he was just like a kind of like a refrigerator man, you know what I mean? [SPEAKER_00]: And like, like, cuddly as can be, but just he had a stature to him as the word that I was looking for when I was saying big and tall, that I think has to kind of be lean tallness in college.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that I put Harris Dickinson a lot of people said that yeah, and I actually can I tell you I didn't know that this man's name was I just knew him as an actor. [SPEAKER_00]: I'd seen like I think he was in like an actors on actors that I watched and I didn't know what his name was and I was like Oh, that guy would be really good, but people started putting his name in and I looked him up.
[SPEAKER_00]: I was like, that's not me on [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and whose name I don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: There you go! [SPEAKER_01]: Now you know his name, Harris Dickinson. [SPEAKER_01]: He's pretty girl with Nicole Kidman. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: And so I think he could do American. [SPEAKER_00]: He's six foot two.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's six foot two. [SPEAKER_00]: That's really was the criteria. [SPEAKER_00]: I was like he's up there. [SPEAKER_00]: He's up there in the sixes. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you have to be up there to play at Herman's Richard Gilmour. [SPEAKER_00]: It's true. [SPEAKER_01]: And one of the other things that caught my mind and I don't know that he's tall enough for this, let me actually look up how tall he is.
[SPEAKER_01]: What are you talking about things? [SPEAKER_00]: I'm looking at how tall people are. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he's definitely not tall enough for this because he's only five foot 10, but a young Matt Damon in the talent him Mr. Ripley is the vibe. [SPEAKER_01]: Like he's got the glass to tear it tears play with the time machine.
[SPEAKER_01]: I am playing a little bit with the time machine. [SPEAKER_01]: It's almost like you know, young Blair Waldorf. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, young, late mester as Blair Waldorf is the vibe. [SPEAKER_01]: Like someone said young Matt Damon, but like talent in Mr. Ripley and it's true. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: The glass is he's got kind of like the coft hair. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's what I see aesthetically for someone like Richard Gilmore, but unfortunately for playing with time machines, I want a young at her moment. [SPEAKER_01]: Well of course. [SPEAKER_01]: That's the number one choice.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's the number one choice, but I could see that. [SPEAKER_00]: So the only actor who's not in a time machine is Harris Dickinson. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: Sure. [SPEAKER_00]: We could do that. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I just feel like he has the right look. [SPEAKER_00]: I've actually I didn't I haven't seen him in baby girl.
[SPEAKER_00]: I haven't seen him in anything. [SPEAKER_00]: I've only seen him in interviews and I just think he kind of has the right look what's kind of what I was going for. [SPEAKER_00]: Totally. [SPEAKER_01]: Some other another name that was thrown out there was Jacob Ballorty and you know, he was in Frankenstein, we're going heights, you know, he's also having a movie right now.
[SPEAKER_01]: But he's six foot five. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, so he's up there, you know, it's slim pickings when you start getting that far north. [SPEAKER_00]: It's true. [SPEAKER_01]: So, and there were people who also said like a young Jared Paddlekki and I was like, that's really funny. [SPEAKER_00]: You guys wanted to have a time machine in a prequel, a casting.
[SPEAKER_00]: We love it. [SPEAKER_00]: I could totally see that. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, just, you know, just give them a little Botox and what we can, we can work with it. [SPEAKER_00]: That would be excellent. [SPEAKER_00]: I just love the idea of them making cameos in some way. [SPEAKER_00]: But like they aren't Dean, but Jared Patelaki is playing someone, maybe he's like a professor at Yale.
[SPEAKER_00]: And he's just being himself. [SPEAKER_00]: Just because a little nod, you know, I kind of love the idea of like seeing people like that throughout the prequel. [SPEAKER_00]: playing Richard would be a stretch. [SPEAKER_00]: And some of the actors we'd have to stretch them to play him. [SPEAKER_00]: It's true.
[SPEAKER_00]: We would have to stretch that. [SPEAKER_00]: I could see Jacob awardee. [SPEAKER_00]: I could get behind that. [SPEAKER_01]: I think Harris Dickinson is honestly picturesque for that role. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: Quite handsome. [SPEAKER_00]: There's some glasses on him. [SPEAKER_00]: Give him a newspaper.
[SPEAKER_00]: He'll do great. [SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, more scenes that I think I would also love to see, as we move into like, you know, past the blue dress, past him choosing Emily is Richard proposing to Emily at the Benchet Yale. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh my gosh. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, and I hope it's exactly as described.
[SPEAKER_01]: I want to see her call him a spineless jellyfish, him pulling out the box, handing it to her as in here and her going fine. [SPEAKER_00]: That is truly iconic. [SPEAKER_00]: Like that's such a good moment. [SPEAKER_00]: And I think that's why I want so much like biting tension is kind of like but flirtatious flirtatious biting tension.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like calling someone a spineless jellyfish. [SPEAKER_00]: Is that flirtatious? [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe an Emily Gilmore way, Emily made a name way. [SPEAKER_00]: But like I want that to like provide throughout their relationship because like the fact that that happened when they got engaged, I can't it.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I want to see chronic. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I want to see Emily meeting tricks, whether that's like this. [SPEAKER_01]: at a college party after they get engaged whatever that may be like I don't know if it's a situation where like he is going to propose to pet or he proposes to penal in law and the reason that tricks hates Emily so much is that he broke off his engagement to a girl that she really liked for him for this woman and Emily didn't do anything wrong per se it's just like [SPEAKER_01]: you're the reason he's not with her anymore.
[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe there was like money involved. [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe there was, you know, there's this kind of, it's interesting to imagine Emily being the Roy Gilmore at like a Logan Huntsburger style dinner and but I'm again more, you know. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's why Emily is such a visual reaction to Shira is that like when she's when she goes up to Shira and she says what she says it's for her it's for Lori, but it's also like her talking to her former mother-in-law her former adversary.
[SPEAKER_00]: Do you like it better that Emily is like an innocent bystander to tricks is [SPEAKER_00]: hatred or that she had a hand in it, that she was kind of schemey. [SPEAKER_00]: And like, maybe never really truly deserved it, but wasn't just standing by. [SPEAKER_01]: I think it can be both. [SPEAKER_01]: I think, but I think that Emily and Richard being [SPEAKER_01]: together is like an inevitability.
[SPEAKER_01]: So I think that with Emily, I could see her scheming a little bit because that's that's her way, right? [SPEAKER_01]: When she, when she schemes, someone inevitably is like, hey, I hate you for scheming. [SPEAKER_01]: It's more or less. [SPEAKER_01]: When it comes to like what I'm losing, and maybe it's lower like the first when it comes to her scheming to get her way with Richard, but I do think that no matter what like it's in an inevitability and that like Richard didn't have to be swindled into losing her.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know which one I like more. [SPEAKER_00]: I feel like you like it more that she would be a schemer. [SPEAKER_00]: I think it's because I want to lay the foundation for an Emily Gammar scheme. [SPEAKER_00]: that like this has always been happening. [SPEAKER_00]: And I also kind of like the idea that it wasn't always in someone else's best interest, sort of things of like the sort of vibe of the way that she approaches moralize life to scheme, that sometimes it's just like in like the name of something fun or something fun with her roommates, that [SPEAKER_00]: She always has some a scheme of foot, but as she gets older, it becomes a little bit manipulative in nature because of the way that she was taught to be a mother.
[SPEAKER_00]: But I just like laying, I like laying the foundation of that in some way. [SPEAKER_01]: I would really love to explore what Emily's home life looks like. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, we talked about Emily's 21st birthday and the pearls [SPEAKER_01]: I said this in the last episode, the money episode.
[SPEAKER_01]: I said yes because we were talking about like where Emily came from and like her wealth and if she had me, there is a part of me that deeply, deeply, deeply once Emily to come from almost. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to say nothing but once Emily to come from a middle-class family. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if like the series lends to that, like the Emily that we know, lends to, because she like looks down upon it so much.
[SPEAKER_01]: But I think that that could be of really interesting reason why. [SPEAKER_01]: Like her whole life she grew up with less and wanted more so badly and she got it. [SPEAKER_01]: And so she looks down upon those who don't have it because that's how she felt about herself her whole life. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I think that that could be a really interesting, you know, I think it would be interesting. [SPEAKER_01]: Jenny Humphrey. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not going to be talking about gossip growth, which is like a general Humphrey kind of storyline. [SPEAKER_01]: In that it's just like I'm so tired in high school of always being treated like I must then that the moment that I have an opportunity to position myself, to have to be on the same level.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's these people. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm taking it. [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm running at it. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's why her daughter choosing a life like that makes no sense to her. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I think I think I'm too sides about it because it could be very interesting.
[SPEAKER_00]: It would be thematically very interesting to explore. [SPEAKER_00]: I think I just really like the idea though of her and Richard being on even footing that like there's no like like I guess like the power imbalance of wealth doesn't exist as they start their relationship that it's like she doesn't see him as someone who needs to be attained.
[SPEAKER_00]: She sees him as someone she could easily have. [SPEAKER_00]: that it's not like a matter of her having to seek him out to fulfill something that she's always wanted. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like almost like he is someone that she is always deserved because of who she is. [SPEAKER_01]: And you know, I don't even see it being like her marrying Richard to get something like that.
[SPEAKER_01]: I see it as like her attending a seven sister school, being [SPEAKER_01]: like how she's going to start to position herself to seemingly have wealth that she doesn't have. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Again, kind of in this like Jenny Humphrey, kind of way. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like basically issued the Jenny Humphrey or she'd the Blair Waldorf.
[SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: I think I lean more on the Blair Waldorf. [SPEAKER_00]: If only because like why would her mom for her 21st birthday? [SPEAKER_00]: Which at this point, she's already in college by invitations trimmed with real pearls. [SPEAKER_00]: But as I said to you, [SPEAKER_01]: You know, could be, or could not be, were they real fake pearls?
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: I think there's something interesting there. [SPEAKER_01]: I also think that could be a huge reason why Tricks doesn't like her. [SPEAKER_00]: Hmm, she doesn't think she's good enough. [SPEAKER_00]: I think she's a poser. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: But I, you know, it could go either way.
[SPEAKER_01]: I just think that there needs to be some sort of imbalance there between her and [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, tricks between her and Richard, between her and Tricks, you know, like in the sense that Richard doesn't care, and the same way Logan doesn't care, you know, like Logan doesn't care where Roy comes from, he loves her.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, you know, he doesn't see it that way. [SPEAKER_00]: And I think it's interesting because with Roy, it's perceived like in the sense that like I don't think that he necessarily ever really sees her as coming from someplace different. [SPEAKER_00]: because she has her grandparents because her grandparents played for paid for children, paid for Yale, like in that vein that like she's only ever in her own perception kind of not had as much privilege even though she just shows up at her grandparents and it's like hey could you guys play for college and they're like sure yeah great.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I think in that regard I don't know that Logan ever really saw her as being that different. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there's more to explore there. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm curious with you. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I feel like there's a lot going in either direction that you could explore. [SPEAKER_00]: It's really just I want to know why tricks didn't like her.
[SPEAKER_00]: I know. [SPEAKER_00]: And in that same vein, I need to see the one I can get in the letter. [SPEAKER_00]: The carbon. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we're not Emily getting the letter. [SPEAKER_00]: Richard got the letter. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, me too. [SPEAKER_01]: They were married in 1965 if 40 years was 2005.
[SPEAKER_01]: So I'd like to see Emily putting on her wedding dress every night. [SPEAKER_01]: It says her mother had three seamstresses working around the clock on it. [SPEAKER_01]: That's what she has said, which you're getting a lot of from tricks. [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe Pendle and being involved in some way.
[SPEAKER_00]: Or like in that same thought process, the first lunch with Pendle and of like how they went from being like broken up, Emily being the one, then getting married to starting having lunches is like what is the dynamic between them in this Emily and Richard getting married phase. [SPEAKER_00]: And how can we do it in such a way that doesn't make us dislike either of them?
[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean? [SPEAKER_00]: Because I feel like there's such an easy way that like one of the first viral TikToks I ever had was comparing Richard and Logan. [SPEAKER_00]: And it's like all of the ways that you don't like Logan, you've been able to romanticize about Richard and Emily of like he was engaged to Penalind Law.
[SPEAKER_00]: I showed up and I was the chosen one and I got married and now you go to lunch every year with this woman. [SPEAKER_00]: And we're gonna figure it out years and years from now, so like in the grand scheme of our storyline, it's all good. [SPEAKER_00]: But like how is like the audience perception of it in it happening in real time, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: Would you dislike them? [SPEAKER_00]: Would you dislike Richard when he goes to the panel in the hot lunch? [SPEAKER_00]: Even though it's like you're like, oh my gosh, I wanted to see this. [SPEAKER_00]: And now you're seeing it and you're like, I hate it, why are you doing this? [SPEAKER_01]: Especially because if we're working off of the like Logan Richard comparison, like does that put pendulum in a light for Richard, like Rory is for Logan?
[SPEAKER_00]: I was just about to say that, like Ace Penalyn, the Roy Gilmore of this storyline. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and like he fell in love with Penalyn, who maybe Penalyn is maybe someone who came from a middle class. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, and Emily's the one who comes in and is like, [SPEAKER_00]: I don't.
[SPEAKER_00]: This just came to me that she's the Roy Gilmore, but it's like when we get to the revival, what would Logan do for Roy Gilmore? [SPEAKER_00]: Literally anything. [SPEAKER_01]: But he still loved Richard loves Emily. [SPEAKER_00]: Richard loves Emily. [SPEAKER_01]: There's so much for them to be one for one.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like no, we of course don't know how Logan would treat Odette, you know, when he comes home every night, but I just don't. [SPEAKER_01]: I just can't do it. [SPEAKER_01]: I can't wrap my I can't we can like a lube to that in some ways But we don't have to like like you said a one for one because it stresses me out too much the Emily and Richard aren't soulmates because they are they're soulmates One yes, but I like unpacking a little bit of the nuance that comes yes because we met them at an interesting time when their foundation was really solid and they [SPEAKER_01]: had lower lie.
[SPEAKER_01]: He had his job. [SPEAKER_01]: She had her ways. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, and it's just like you kind of forget sometimes that like, there's a meeting. [SPEAKER_01]: There's a courtship. [SPEAKER_01]: There's a, there's so much backstory in history there that might not be as rosy and sunshine and rainbow.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: You know. [SPEAKER_00]: And maybe it's just in the sense that we are rooting for Emily, like the prequel in my mind is called Emily in the same way that it's called L. Like ever since you said it's like mainly about her because like I think the idea of meeting Richard through the eyes of Emily is very interesting.
[SPEAKER_00]: But of course we'll have to get some other POVs so that we can get some of these Richard things. [SPEAKER_00]: Like I want to hear about Richard bullying his roommates. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, from the besties I listed off a bunch of like scenes that they wanted to see and that, of course, was one of them.
[SPEAKER_01]: That alongside him being in the Whiff and Pooves, the Naked semester. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god. [SPEAKER_00]: This has to be an HBO show. [UNKNOWN]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: We can't get exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: We can't put this on cable. [SPEAKER_00]: He's got to have a Naked semester.
[SPEAKER_00]: So like, if we're doing this like, is this a limited series? [SPEAKER_00]: So like maybe two episodes he'd be naked? [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: Or is this 22 episodes in like, for it's solid 10 episodes he'd be naked? [SPEAKER_00]: Hey Emily, when I have to have a lot of off-campus conversations with other people, it's true.
[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe she's not affiliated with him. [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe it was before she came on the scene and it's alluded to his naked semester. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, maybe all of the girls are really, you remember he's got really popular with the ladies. [SPEAKER_00]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe Emily missed the naked semester.
[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe she talks about it. [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe she was yeah, maybe it was his freshman year. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it was something that happened and like it's talked about but it's not necessarily shown. [SPEAKER_00]: Or if there's that like separation in age maybe it was like his sophomore year So it was maybe last year for him and Emily's like he was naked for a whole semester [SPEAKER_01]: I also love the idea of it being like hazing from the whiff and poops.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's supposed to be like the whiff and poops are just like this aqua pellic group. [SPEAKER_01]: But actually they're like a fraternity that hazes people. [SPEAKER_00]: They were protesting the dress code. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: They were nothing but zip ties for a month.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Or a semester? [SPEAKER_01]: It was a month, right? [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I'd have to go back and look at the exact length. [SPEAKER_01]: I think it's a month because it's a semester. [SPEAKER_01]: That's a lot. [SPEAKER_01]: That's a long time. [SPEAKER_01]: That's a long time.
[SPEAKER_01]: Quite a long time. [SPEAKER_00]: I kind of love the idea of Emily when she meets him like who's that guy. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, that's Richard. [SPEAKER_00]: He was he's finally wearing clothes. [SPEAKER_01]: He's been Yeah, he was the naked guy. [SPEAKER_01]: She's like what yeah, not totally totally one of the things that people said a lot of people said was the first time that Richard and Emily danced together [SPEAKER_00]: When I read that, I was like, oh my god, why would you say that?
[SPEAKER_00]: Why would you say that? [SPEAKER_00]: Because I absolutely need to see that now. [SPEAKER_00]: I need to know what song it was. [SPEAKER_00]: I need to know if it was Oh, what's his name Chuck Berry? [SPEAKER_00]: Like yeah, what the song was, what they were wearing, where they were, why it feels like Abe and Rose dancing in Paris.
[SPEAKER_00]: That one really broke me. [SPEAKER_00]: because like I think so much of this prequel would make me cry. [SPEAKER_00]: Like just for sure, for sure, and if done well, if done poorly, I'm pretty sure I would be pretty upset with it. [SPEAKER_00]: But I just imagine like the first time they dance, Emily trying on her wedding dress.
[SPEAKER_00]: Someone mentioned finding out that they're pregnant with the lie. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, finding out that they're pregnant. [SPEAKER_01]: I did a kind of in chronological order. [SPEAKER_01]: So like, you know, sticking to college before we really move into their marriage. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: who said I love you first, them going skinny dipping and Emily wearing an overcoat tattoo, which you had in Tricks' conversation about Emily before the two of them meet. [SPEAKER_01]: If Emily had another gentleman in color, which we kind of touched on already. [SPEAKER_01]: And then, yeah, like after they get married, when they find out they're pregnant with Laura Lye, which is like probably so exciting for them and also knowing like what kind of heart-breaking relationship they end up having with her.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's gonna make it very emotional. [SPEAKER_00]: A very emotional, especially because I think that something that would actually just slay the audience is Emily talking about like her hopes for her unborn child and like what she sees her doing and the relationship that they might have and crushing everyone because you know that Emily never planned to have the kind of relationship that she has with Laura lie.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: I just was thinking about that. [SPEAKER_00]: I was just like Emily kind of espousing about all the [SPEAKER_00]: and for their relationship together and I just think, let's just slam, yeah, let's get them. [SPEAKER_01]: I want to know what brought them to Hartford.
[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of people said this too, like what brought them to Hartford? [SPEAKER_01]: We imagine, we can imagine Richard's job. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like the early years of Laura Lies life did Emily fight the stay at home mom life or did she welcome it in with open arms? [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, what if what if Emily was pregnant with Laura Lies when they got married?
[SPEAKER_01]: But, oh, spicy, spicy. [SPEAKER_01]: But it actually doesn't really make sense because math wise, she was born in 1968. [SPEAKER_01]: She's not in 1965. [SPEAKER_01]: But what's interesting, and I wonder if this may be played a role in it, is that when we're at the red light on the wedding night, times in season two, and Emily's talking about trying on a wedding dress every night, I think she says something to the effect of like, Richard and I have been married for X amount of years, and it doesn't align with by the time they get to 2005, [SPEAKER_00]: Now, it honestly, at no point aligns until maybe late season four, I forget, but it's by the time they've been together for 40 years, I think we skipped like three or four years.
[SPEAKER_00]: But I like doing the math based on the 40th celebration. [SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely, me too. [SPEAKER_01]: 34 years ago that I married Richard, I remember it so distinctly, and that was in the year two, that was in like fall 2001. [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, we just miss, we race a couple of years, we see it a little bit, but it's interesting because I guess that would put lower-life 32 in the series start so that would make them married for about one year before lower-life came along.
[SPEAKER_01]: Which isn't bad. [SPEAKER_01]: It's just different. [SPEAKER_01]: It's not different. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's not what we have by the time we get to a wedding ball blues. [SPEAKER_00]: And I think that part of me wants to hear to the wedding ball blues timeline, but part of me to the prequel wants to hear to they've been married for one year.
[SPEAKER_00]: When they get pregnant, just in terms of like the storytelling, we'll leave that up to the creative discretion of the creators. [SPEAKER_00]: But I just like the idea of that being included just to kind of really pull [SPEAKER_00]: the viewer who loves Laura Lies so much and to think that Emily wanted something different and voicing that in a very direct manner when her life turns out nothing like that, I think would be quite interesting.
[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I just really want to see so much of her dynamic with her mom and why she was taught to not be friends with her daughter. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And like, who her mother is because I don't think that the way that she talks to Lorelie is original to her talking to Lorelie.
[SPEAKER_00]: I imagine that's all her mom talked to her. [SPEAKER_01]: Totally. [SPEAKER_00]: And there is like a consistency there. [SPEAKER_00]: And maybe that's why Hopi. [SPEAKER_00]: wanted to get out from under that. [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe she didn't appreciate being talked to like that. [SPEAKER_00]: Because I like the lower light parallel being there.
[SPEAKER_00]: But there's just so much to it that I want to explore. [SPEAKER_00]: But none more so than seeing them dance for the first time. [SPEAKER_00]: Like I know. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I just, I don't know why that one, that one of all of them makes me cry, because it feels like reflecting light. [SPEAKER_00]: It will be completely different, but like that's what I'm seeing in my mind of just being like, I'm crushed, but so totally, totally, so totally.
[SPEAKER_01]: The last thing is more Richard and Tricks related and that's Richard asking Tricks to bail him out with that money that they bring up in season four. [SPEAKER_00]: Ooh, yeah, oh, yeah, I know. [SPEAKER_00]: There's so much to Richard and Tricks that I want to like see, just like why they were so close.
[SPEAKER_00]: What their relationship was like, how tricks talk to him, being a single mom, never expecting to be one, I think that would be interesting too. [SPEAKER_00]: Especially coming from a mother-daughter origin series, original series, and seeing how that plays out between mother and son. [SPEAKER_00]: There's part of me that wonders if it's like tricks who feels like we have to act a certain way.
[SPEAKER_00]: We have to be a certain way. [SPEAKER_00]: Like your father isn't here to uphold the family name. [SPEAKER_00]: It is on us. [SPEAKER_00]: So you, yeah, it's on you. [SPEAKER_00]: You're the one. [SPEAKER_00]: You're the Gilmore. [SPEAKER_00]: And like that kind of pressure put on him. [SPEAKER_00]: And maybe Pennellin aligns with it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe Pennellin really agrees with tricks in that regard. [SPEAKER_00]: And yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, but Emily ultimately does too. [SPEAKER_00]: She loves to be a good one. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I agree. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there's a lot to unpack there and I'm curious, but the listeners think at home after hearing us talk about all of this because you know, we'll definitely cover this in some sort of GTC wrap up of course because there's so much to talk about here.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's so funny the last two episodes. [SPEAKER_01]: There's been so much to consider more of between my and this is such a big topic. [SPEAKER_01]: We're only really scratching the surface, but I thought it'd be really fun today to just like talk about our initial ideas and our initial thoughts.
[SPEAKER_01]: I love that we were relying on so many things that we were like, let's start it here. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's start it here because that's what we've been talking. [SPEAKER_00]: I was like, wait, I kind of want to do like a fan fiction episode of what the pilot looks like. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, Emily.
[SPEAKER_00]: In my mind, it's a series. [SPEAKER_00]: Emily, this series. [SPEAKER_00]: Emily, the prequel. [SPEAKER_01]: Emily and Connecticut. [SPEAKER_00]: Emily and Connecticut. [UNKNOWN]: Emily and Connecticut. [SPEAKER_00]: It'd be Emily and Massachusetts. [SPEAKER_00]: Emily, sometimes in Massachusetts.
[SPEAKER_00]: Emily, sometimes in Massachusetts. [SPEAKER_01]: Emily, sometimes in Massachusetts. [SPEAKER_00]: Emily, sometimes in Massachusetts. [SPEAKER_01]: Emily, I say area. [SPEAKER_01]: What is this called? [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe that's what we'll talk about in our next video. [SPEAKER_01]: You guys all guess?
[SPEAKER_00]: Offer some names. [SPEAKER_00]: Offer some names. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: We need to offer some names because I think all of these need to more shopping. [SPEAKER_01]: A little bit. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, speaking of Emily, I feel like this is a perfect segue into our guest next week.
[SPEAKER_00]: Y'all, we are going to be chatting with the one and only Miss Emily Henry. [SPEAKER_00]: Can you believe that? [SPEAKER_00]: No. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm so excited. [SPEAKER_00]: I actually love to ask her on her thoughts on an Emily and Richard people. [SPEAKER_01]: And we'll have more to say on that in the next episode.
