[SPEAKER_01]: I know the we will. [SPEAKER_01]: We will definitely be going to Disney because I'm so excited. [SPEAKER_01]: I haven't been to Disney in almost 10 years. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm really excited because like I've been living like part-time in Orlando recently because there's six years five years.
[SPEAKER_01]: I went there in January of 2020. [SPEAKER_00]: So it's actually been like six years. [SPEAKER_00]: It's been like six years. [SPEAKER_00]: It's just so fun. [SPEAKER_00]: But I've been living part-time in Orlando because my family lives down there in a hard time. [SPEAKER_00]: And I've gotten to know the gals of the new rantics and I'm just so excited to do it kind of at my new local bookstore.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, love. [SPEAKER_01]: And it's so perfect for Valentine's Day, Valentine's Day. [SPEAKER_01]: It's like, you know, a little Taylor Swift nod. [SPEAKER_01]: I love it. [SPEAKER_00]: Have fun. [SPEAKER_00]: Do you have money to laugh at you? [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh my God. [SPEAKER_00]: I can't wait to see everybody. [SPEAKER_00]: But I'm making a mini. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but we'll have maybe. [SPEAKER_00]: Can I tell you those characters quite scare me?
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh. [SPEAKER_00]: People in costumes like that freak you out. [SPEAKER_00]: It freaks me out. [SPEAKER_00]: OK. Mickey Mouse is too big. [SPEAKER_00]: He's famously, if you know this, he's a mouse. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And I find that to be terrifying that he's that big. [SPEAKER_00]: What if a real mouse was that big?
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, that's different. [SPEAKER_00]: And I don't like his eyes either, but I digress. [SPEAKER_00]: We'll figure this out when we get there. [SPEAKER_00]: You can go see my guinea pig. [SPEAKER_00]: I really want to see Poo. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, that's why I'm really excited to see you. [SPEAKER_00]: You know the one time I met Tigger and I put my arm around him and I felt the back of the human inside the Tigger costume and I never wanted to meet him ever again.
[SPEAKER_00]: I was like, goodbye, that's a thing. [SPEAKER_01]: There's definitely someone in there. [SPEAKER_01]: They're always husband. [SPEAKER_01]: They're always working. [SPEAKER_01]: But when will I see you again? [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, no! [UNKNOWN]: Never! [SPEAKER_01]: It's just one of those things, though, where...
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to know, like, I know. [SPEAKER_00]: But when my sister, she's been inside those costumes before. [SPEAKER_00]: And I've met her inside those costumes. [SPEAKER_00]: And I still didn't like it then. [SPEAKER_00]: Like the first time I ever met my sister as a princess, I was like, oh, god.
[SPEAKER_00]: You're like, oh, I don't know, I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, I could see her face, because she said a wig on, I was like, she was talking to me like a princess, and I was like, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, snacks are good, but yeah, so we'll be in Orlando.
[SPEAKER_00]: Really excited. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but we'll have something for the girly so we're not in Orlando But we'll have details on that soon But if you want to come to a Gilmour Gallantine Friday night girl dinner We'll have the details on our show notes, and I'm sure on our Instagram too. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, come along I'm saying can we see and take it to a limited so yes the spaces small so tickets are limited if you're planning on coming I highly recommend getting your tickets now.
[SPEAKER_01]: Can we? [SPEAKER_01]: We'll see you then [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: So, let's get into it. [SPEAKER_01]: Let's just dive right in. [SPEAKER_01]: Season four, three cold opens. [SPEAKER_00]: Dive in the water school. [SPEAKER_01]: Dive in the water is cold. [SPEAKER_01]: The water is cold.
[SPEAKER_01]: Three? [SPEAKER_01]: Three cold opens in front of my door. [SPEAKER_01]: I know. [SPEAKER_01]: They just keep getting again, like I said, kind of less and less. [SPEAKER_01]: So does that mean that they're getting worse and worse? [SPEAKER_00]: No, no. [SPEAKER_00]: I just think that it's because we have to pick Friday night dinner really is like a contender.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, no, she's going to yell. [SPEAKER_00]: But that's not the one we're going to show someone. [SPEAKER_00]: Fair. [SPEAKER_00]: Fair is an excellent one. [SPEAKER_01]: It is a very good one. [SPEAKER_01]: I, of course, the first one I put here was the fundamental things apply. [SPEAKER_01]: Season four episode five, you bolted me.
[SPEAKER_00]: Now, color, come on now, you're ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying, ying [SPEAKER_00]: and then we have another one with a car alarm and chicken or beef or another car alarm.
[SPEAKER_00]: She drives the house car and the house alarm is going off and she walks in. [SPEAKER_00]: And then she drives up again and fundamental things apply when the war light is gardening. [SPEAKER_00]: You're what? [SPEAKER_00]: I'm gardening! [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, yeah, sure, sure. [SPEAKER_00]: But I feel like chicken or beef is kind of an iconic drive up because that's when she caught her hair.
[SPEAKER_00]: She cut her hair, that's true. [SPEAKER_00]: That one's like so gummer girls, though, because when she's like, oh my god, you cut your hair. [SPEAKER_00]: The loudest sound you've ever heard in your life is happening. [SPEAKER_00]: Meanwhile, she's like, what do you tell me? [SPEAKER_01]: I'm just trying to hear her hair.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's so lower life. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, to be that way. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, very funny. [SPEAKER_01]: But I really like you bold me. [SPEAKER_01]: You bold me. [SPEAKER_01]: Got that bet. [SPEAKER_01]: You've got the girlies. [SPEAKER_01]: You've got their dynamic. [SPEAKER_01]: They're like throwing things at each other because they're all like, you know, freaked out over the bulls.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: It's really good. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Another one that I quite love. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if this is the one that I would show someone, but it's in the clamor and the clanger where they're at old man stands. [SPEAKER_00]: funeral. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, and it's like they are maybe anticipating the death of someone because there are deaths coming threes, I think they say, and two people have died, and so they're trying to figure out the third person's going to be, and then they already start like utilizing one of the men who's sitting there.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, okay. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, Hank, he was so great. [SPEAKER_00]: which I think. [SPEAKER_00]: And then Kurt gets toppled by the flower. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And so they're like, we are the witches of Eastwood. [SPEAKER_00]: Did I say itchis? [SPEAKER_00]: We are the witches of Eastwood, which is Westwood.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I just feel like that one's like so them because it's totally right. [SPEAKER_00]: They're wearing these hats. [SPEAKER_00]: They're in mourning. [SPEAKER_00]: Meanwhile, they're [SPEAKER_00]: maybe protecting the death of the people by now causing the death of the people around them.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that for me is like one of the strongest cold events. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's really good at setting up the bells, because of course, Stan's passing is the impetus for the bells to be reinstated. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's obviously a big plot. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, it really is.
[SPEAKER_00]: Wait, that doesn't make sense. [SPEAKER_00]: When did they reinstall the bells? [SPEAKER_00]: They fixed the bells. [SPEAKER_00]: No, they fixed the bells, but then they break the bells. [SPEAKER_00]: But then the bells come back in a season six called it. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I don't know.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you're so right. [SPEAKER_01]: They do. [SPEAKER_01]: Remember that? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you're so right. [SPEAKER_00]: Hmm. [SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, the next episode is also really good. [SPEAKER_01]: Episode 12. [SPEAKER_01]: Laura, I flirting with Kirk. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Because she needs a table, like quote unquote flirting with Kirk.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then Liz comes in. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but we don't know it's Liz. [SPEAKER_00]: We don't know it's Liz. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe check because she calls Lori. [SPEAKER_00]: Because what starts off for she's walking through town. [SPEAKER_00]: And this is one of my favorites.
[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like this is like maybe the top type of cold open or either the girls or the or like walks through town to get to Luke's and it's not one of the other. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like a continuation because you're walking. [SPEAKER_00]: They're getting ready for the winter carnival, which is coming up.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then of course she sits at Kirk's table. [SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't really shoot. [SPEAKER_00]: Flirting with her. [SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't realize she's flirting with him or like he thinks she is flirting with him and she's not Yeah, when she wants to sit down. [SPEAKER_00]: I have a girlfriend.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but she calls worry and it's like There's no tables at loops and she's like one of my supposed to do about that Which at every single time I always have the thought but she can do about that and then she says one of my supposed to do about that I was like so true. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but yeah, then the hippie check walks in [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I this is like such a season four thing to tie worry in be the phone like that's well, she's also tying yes tying we in via the phone and via like what's going on in her background, which is lean yeah and her staying there yeah and she's telling Laura lie about it because of course Laura lie knows because of what has happened the night before.
[SPEAKER_01]: and, or the day before, sometime before. [SPEAKER_01]: At some time in the past. [SPEAKER_01]: And then, she also knows about what's going with Paris and the professor. [SPEAKER_01]: But we did she ever. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, she does. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And I love the way that we're kind of like melding, brewery's worlds, not just through anchoring her in Star's Hollow with Laura Lies phone call, but Lane is there.
[SPEAKER_01]: And Paris is there. [SPEAKER_01]: And those are kind of her two best friends on the show with the exception of Laura like us all over Best friends. [SPEAKER_01]: But I love that we introduce Liz is the hippie chick and Laura likes telling worry about it via the phone. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, all this emotion is going on behind Marie as well.
[SPEAKER_01]: Very good. [SPEAKER_01]: It's a good one. [SPEAKER_01]: I feel like that one's really well written. [SPEAKER_01]: I completely agree. [SPEAKER_01]: It was one of the ones that I circled because I was like very good phone back and forth. [SPEAKER_01]: Very good banter, very good set up. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you wrote this all down like I wrote it all down.
[SPEAKER_00]: Wow. [SPEAKER_00]: Wow. [SPEAKER_01]: Who's just better for me? [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Processing wise. [SPEAKER_01]: I did a lot of this at a coffee shop. [SPEAKER_01]: So I was like watching it on my phone and just kind of scribbling. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's really good. [SPEAKER_01]: Great. [SPEAKER_01]: The next one that I have that I circled because there are some fun ones in between. [SPEAKER_01]: But episode 16, it's a Friday night dinner. [SPEAKER_01]: And this week is when sweetie dies. [SPEAKER_01]: and Laura Li will not stop babbling her mother about why, like, why she's called sweetie.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And I love excellent story and impeccable story. [SPEAKER_01]: I love the story that Emily tells her and that's why I wrote it down because I thought I was really, really well done. [SPEAKER_01]: They also have had Escargo. [SPEAKER_01]: Escargo snails snails. [SPEAKER_01]: And this is also kind of setting us up for, is this seen in a mall, sweetie?
[SPEAKER_01]: No, this is the rating world. [SPEAKER_00]: That's the rating lore lie. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, because setting us up for, because Richard and Emily are kind of at all. [SPEAKER_00]: They're at all. [SPEAKER_00]: And this is where we see it, because this one is quite sad, because it starts off funny, because it's less cargo, but then we find out that sweetie that sweetie loved as cargo apparently.
[SPEAKER_00]: And everyone is very sympathetic to it, and we find out that her funeral was on Sunday, and Richard's like, oh, do I have to be there? [SPEAKER_00]: And you're like, [SPEAKER_00]: What the fuck, my man, your wife's friend died. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, well, Jesus said up golf, and Jesus said up a lunch, but...
[SPEAKER_00]: Sorry, well, for okay, like fuck Jason yeah, my wife's friend died. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to go to her And I feel like the real Richard would absolutely I know he's not this is like a really good set up for Bear storyline I great because like of course Grant is about to die which you think is gonna bring them closer and it doesn't but very briefly just very frequently does But yeah, this is like yeah, this is like a set up to Emily's breakdown too.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't break down too. [SPEAKER_00]: I completely agree [SPEAKER_00]: That's why I thought maybe it was seen in the mall. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Because I was like, Well, I also really like seen in a mall because that switch Laura like goes into Luke's. [SPEAKER_00]: And he's like, you doing okay?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Because she just had her. [SPEAKER_01]: That was absolutely creepy. [SPEAKER_01]: For a little meant to be. [SPEAKER_01]: And I love that she like once we're going to laptop and she sets up the menu tower. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, Kirk is like, Kirk has the dog in the forest.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: He has a dog purse. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And it takes Luke a second to realize. [SPEAKER_00]: Because, of course, she has made that cable to the wall. [SPEAKER_00]: How like what? [SPEAKER_00]: Is this two as and four? [SPEAKER_00]: And then Luke it's like a light bulb goes off and he goes over and he goes you have a dog in that bag He's like no, I don't but I'd really like a pound of raw hamburger It's a little puppy which I wish you could have seen me too.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's probably expensive and hard to deal with dogs on set But yeah, but I love unrelated but related. [SPEAKER_01]: I love on Kirk is the dog rocker [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And they have the celebration because they're playing in Boston or hide and seek. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's about kind of the same thing.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's the same thing. [SPEAKER_00]: Lost and found feels like more ominous though because it's like you're with someone and it's like who's going to get lost. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Are we going to find them? [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, my god. [SPEAKER_01]: That's very ominous. [SPEAKER_01]: You do on purpose.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Hide and seek. [SPEAKER_01]: You can kind of do on purpose. [SPEAKER_01]: It is lost and found when you really think about it. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: It is. [SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, the next episode, I love the Cold Open because it's Kirk's Petty Cab. [SPEAKER_01]: Love Kirk's Petty Cab.
[SPEAKER_01]: Very, very fun. [SPEAKER_01]: Jipsy walking by. [SPEAKER_01]: Really is Petty, though. [SPEAKER_01]: But, but. [SPEAKER_00]: Talk about a Petty Cab. [SPEAKER_00]: I am Petty, P-E-T-T-Y. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Petty, Petty Cab. [SPEAKER_00]: That's like Petty. [SPEAKER_00]: Freshman 15.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, that one. [SPEAKER_00]: That one. [SPEAKER_00]: awful. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: But Hilary is the cargo. [SPEAKER_00]: I do love that one. [SPEAKER_00]: But we have to mention after boom. [SPEAKER_00]: Where Luke is getting to force for me. [SPEAKER_00]: It's the best one. [SPEAKER_00]: What is it called postage stamps et cetera?
[SPEAKER_00]: Stamps et cetera. [SPEAKER_00]: I always want to call it mailboxes et cetera. [SPEAKER_00]: Of course. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, but no. [SPEAKER_00]: It's called mailboxes et cetera. [SPEAKER_00]: You're so right. [SPEAKER_00]: Wait, is both on what's the name of the mailbox company?
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't remember that. [SPEAKER_00]: That's not mailbox, et cetera. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, but you're right. [SPEAKER_01]: It's a mailboxes, et cetera. [SPEAKER_01]: Is that it? [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: Because I remember the post-life specifically. [SPEAKER_01]: It'd be like, you can't get to force at a mailboxes, et cetera.
[SPEAKER_00]: I couldn't write it down the name of it, but I love that because he's getting divorced. [SPEAKER_00]: She needs stamps. [SPEAKER_00]: And he's really chill about it. [SPEAKER_00]: He was like, come in and get your shirt. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so she's gonna go and she's like, I just want to give you your privacy.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but then they have like a little boobwitch kiki Kirk and well, I guess. [SPEAKER_00]: I love them. [SPEAKER_00]: I love them. [SPEAKER_01]: Like kicking over Lucy, Lucy, oh, Bob. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I have some balls Which like all of them. [SPEAKER_00]: It's so they like did you do the nose things like I was so jealous of Tabitha trying to get divorced here I'm sorry.
[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry. [SPEAKER_01]: Sorry. [UNKNOWN]: Yeah [SPEAKER_01]: And then Kirk tries to go away long again. [SPEAKER_01]: She's like, stop it. [SPEAKER_01]: Great. [SPEAKER_00]: I love that one. [SPEAKER_00]: It's so funny. [SPEAKER_00]: That is a top-notch brand. [SPEAKER_00]: I just remembered.
[SPEAKER_00]: What is that guy's name from TikTok? [SPEAKER_00]: You know that guy? [SPEAKER_00]: Very big. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh my gosh. [SPEAKER_00]: Rod. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: He was watching Gilmourkels and like we have like a little back and forth. [SPEAKER_00]: This was like in 2022 Like it was quite some time ago.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and he was watching it and he was watching that cold open And he was like, I love this one so much and I like always think about him when I think about that I'm so funny that like he was he message me that he loved that one so much [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so I always associate it with them.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, to be fair, I would say that's probably one of the top. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it depends. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So if we're bringing Justin to it, would you know you love to do though? [SPEAKER_00]: I'm the one that's doing it. [SPEAKER_00]: I guess maybe I like to do it too.
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, is in last week fights, as we tights, because like, it, the first seems a little, like, nothing's happening. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, we've got patty and, [SPEAKER_00]: Chris C, who is Scott Patterson's wife in real life, of course, because his name is Luke in the show. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and Floor Lies is his love interest.
[SPEAKER_00]: I digress, but they're doing the Maypole, the banion boys, that their name? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they're sent straight from hell and Kirk is heckling them, but then Floor Lies walks by after, like, you know, talking Kirk down from this because Patty's violence is legendary. [SPEAKER_00]: It seems like she sees just and they both kind of like [SPEAKER_00]: And then we zoom around because Jess is reading Punk Planet.
[SPEAKER_00]: That seems normal. [SPEAKER_00]: And then we zoom around to the other side. [SPEAKER_00]: And he is reading, you deserve love. [SPEAKER_00]: The physical copy, it seems. [SPEAKER_00]: And he has the companion workbook, which is, you are not alone. [SPEAKER_00]: I believe it's going on. [SPEAKER_00]: You are not alone.
[SPEAKER_00]: And like, man, working on himself. [SPEAKER_00]: I know. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it didn't work super well. [SPEAKER_00]: But he just needs some time. [SPEAKER_00]: Do you think that maybe when he left? [SPEAKER_00]: entire segue. [SPEAKER_00]: Of course we're in the segue into Jess. [SPEAKER_00]: Do you think that when he left the scene like in season four, like when he left Rory, that he took that book with him?
[SPEAKER_00]: And maybe he worked on it a little bit more. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, maybe. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's how he did that to where he was. [SPEAKER_00]: I could totally see that. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: He worked on himself. [SPEAKER_00]: And it wasn't necessarily towards worry, but he figured out relationships.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because as we talked about, I believe it was on the rewatch club about that episode, it really is him reading that book and fixing his relationship with Luke. [SPEAKER_00]: That book helped him like mend things and talk to and communicate with Luke because he was waiting around to tell Luke and communicate with him because that's like the foundation.
[SPEAKER_00]: of a healthy relationship. [SPEAKER_00]: And you're like, oh my gosh, Luke read the book for Lorelie, Jess read it for Luke. [SPEAKER_00]: Totally. [SPEAKER_00]: So, I think you took it to a really love. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think it's a good cold open. [SPEAKER_01]: It's not necessarily one of my favorites.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's not a face, but it's a good one. [SPEAKER_01]: It's like a good little reveal. [SPEAKER_01]: It is a great reveal. [SPEAKER_01]: Another cold open that I think is worth mentioning is just silly and does kind of introduce something new, which is that lane is working at Luke's earlier than the last one.
[SPEAKER_01]: I love that one. [SPEAKER_01]: It holds to sack. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: We think it's that. [SPEAKER_01]: Or like keeps it's not Episode 10. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: I just love because this is when eventually worry is going to reveal to Laura lie that Paris is sleeping with Asher.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: But I just love that the whole time Laura like keeps like putting [SPEAKER_01]: Coles de Sack in interviews were very as easy words. [SPEAKER_00]: You it's so funny. [SPEAKER_00]: I love the Luke side of that though because this is like basically where we just like kind of establish lame as like this is her new location We're gonna see her at Luke's all the time, but the interview went so well that it seemed like it this should now be called lanes [SPEAKER_01]: No, it's so funny.
[SPEAKER_01]: I love the button of them being like, I don't think this is gonna work out portray the two of them Yeah, what do you think it's gonna go because she's just like anticipating all the need She's doing such a great job. [SPEAKER_01]: She's going above me. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean to be fair this guy's barometer was froggy [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he was not doing so well, but like there was a law.
[SPEAKER_00]: She cleaned the menus. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and like when Lane walks up and I don't know exactly what she says to him, but he's like, yeah, yeah, okay. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, right. [SPEAKER_01]: She's coffee on at table four or something. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Like his boss is watching him and he like hates it because she's so good.
[SPEAKER_01]: So sweet. [SPEAKER_01]: And then one more I want to mention before we pick a top is I love. [SPEAKER_01]: the cold open where they get their first reservation at the Dragonfly. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And she writes it on a combine. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And we really like you.
[SPEAKER_00]: Overall, it's like a little... That's some incredible syncing in the Royalites. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, she calls. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, she calls. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, she calls her about the horses. [SPEAKER_00]: And like, you realize the worry has it maybe a fear of horses because that one time where she was writing a horse and the horse fell over.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yes. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Which is like an amazing story. [SPEAKER_00]: But then we go inside the tom and the phone rings. [SPEAKER_00]: And they're like, who's what is that? [SPEAKER_00]: It's like your phone. [SPEAKER_00]: I said it up for you. [SPEAKER_00]: And make it their first reservation.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's curious. [SPEAKER_00]: And I like the way that one ends because Lorelie has this look on her face. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like, oh, this is going to work out. [SPEAKER_00]: And I love a button like this where you're like, I don't know, I love a hopeful button. [SPEAKER_00]: I do like a funny one.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but a hopeful one is very sweet. [SPEAKER_01]: I like it a lot. [SPEAKER_01]: So what's your faith of all these? [SPEAKER_01]: Like what is one that really stands out to you that you love, that you feel like really is the making of a great cold open? [SPEAKER_00]: You know, I think that my faith is probably after boom.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like a haily faith, per box of things. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I love that. [SPEAKER_01]: A divorce at mailboxes, et cetera. [SPEAKER_00]: Like of course. [SPEAKER_00]: So it's where I'd want to get divorce. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you know, I aspire one day too. [SPEAKER_00]: have to be ready here for folks.
[SPEAKER_00]: My future has been better watch out because he's about to be max set of mailboxes, et cetera, et cetera. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, there you go. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh my gosh, I'm just set up a storefront. [SPEAKER_00]: to get the first set, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera, love anyway, but it's fundamental things, but I think that I think I agree with you.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, those two are the standouts, but like if I were showing someone a cold open, I think I'd want to be fundamental things apply. [SPEAKER_01]: Pow! [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And I think it's one of those things. [SPEAKER_00]: But I could also show the mailboxes, et cetera. [SPEAKER_00]: Are you, of course.
[SPEAKER_00]: But I think that's sometimes, like, I know that we all feel as way. [SPEAKER_00]: When you start to show it to someone new, you start to feel really defensive of, like, wait, is this funny enough? [SPEAKER_00]: Are you going to be engaged? [SPEAKER_00]: Like, you're kind of like, like, when you were watching with Brett for the first time, you wanted to skip Richard and Saras Hollow, because you were like, oh, my gosh, this is moving too slow.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, it's he liking this. [SPEAKER_00]: We're losing interest. [SPEAKER_00]: And to you start to put a lot of pressure on it, but it's like, if you are not into the fundamental things apply, if that doesn't pull you in, you don't deserve the rest. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, we're, we're, this is a funny one.
[SPEAKER_00]: Objectively funny. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, this is good. [SPEAKER_00]: But you don't deserve the other lines if you can't get past this one. [SPEAKER_00]: If this isn't for you, this isn't for you. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I think sometimes I put too much pressure on it, because I'm like, I want you to like it, please.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, I'm so, so with you. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So moving into season five, this is really where things start to adjust. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we get a lot of different, like it starts to feel the same, but we get some different formulas. [SPEAKER_00]: I agree. [SPEAKER_00]: Like we start with kind of a loose apartment.
[SPEAKER_00]: I know, which is crazy. [SPEAKER_00]: We have, we have not yet woken up at loose apartment. [SPEAKER_00]: No, man. [SPEAKER_00]: But it is. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, here we go. [SPEAKER_00]: Like we end up at Yale sometimes. [SPEAKER_00]: It's just different. [SPEAKER_01]: It's very different.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's not a ton of consistency in the location, which there never really is, but like, [SPEAKER_01]: We do have some new locations. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, sure. [SPEAKER_01]: I think the first episode, we just watched this hard to watch because of course this is the continuation of Season 4's finale where Rory and Dean are in bed together.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so we're rewriting the clock a little bit. [SPEAKER_00]: going back to see someone else's POV. [SPEAKER_01]: I just love a different POV. [SPEAKER_01]: It is hard to watch because we're just like, oh, God, this is tough. [SPEAKER_01]: I think that when we watched it, and I was like, yeah, you literally want like this.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, hold my hand, like, not even looking at it. [SPEAKER_00]: You really just watch this watch it. [SPEAKER_01]: But it's, we did just watch this watch. [SPEAKER_01]: So real again. [SPEAKER_01]: It's so good to see Dean's POV have something we've already seen of the cliffhanger we were left on.
[SPEAKER_01]: the extension of that. [SPEAKER_00]: It's so hard to watch because when he's waiting there to hear what Laura likes says because he's like, he's dropping on whatever he's in there and she goes, he's married and he bolts. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, tough, tough times, tough times for sure, but good.
[SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't say a fave. [SPEAKER_00]: I actually didn't look at the TV when we were watching it for most of it. [SPEAKER_00]: It's hard to watch, but it's brilliant. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the beginning is the hardest part to watch, because it's the who can take some. [SPEAKER_00]: She's doing that little, no, no, no, no, we don't need the day.
[SPEAKER_00]: Totally agree. [SPEAKER_01]: But speaking of new locations like Luke's, we're also, like you said, in the last episode, getting Friday night Drake's. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: the plywood house is a new location. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we get at the lot of the pull house. [SPEAKER_00]: I feel like we're starting more at the pull house than we are at the dinner table.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, because it's like the the sequence of events in the night, because they're separated. [SPEAKER_00]: So we do pull house drinks, Emily dinner. [SPEAKER_01]: And written in the stars is a long, long one. [SPEAKER_01]: Very long, but very funny. [SPEAKER_01]: Because the setup is so, so, so, so, so good.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: that we're kind of getting this, this, the new dynamic of Emily and Richard is being introduced, right? [SPEAKER_01]: But we're also getting this extended version of what would be a Friday night dinner cold open because we've had it. [SPEAKER_01]: We now have to separate them.
[SPEAKER_01]: But I love that like we get Richard to start and we're introduced to his new Butler. [SPEAKER_01]: And we're introduced to these. [SPEAKER_01]: We're introduced to the maid of the week, the flavor of the week. [SPEAKER_01]: And she calls her, she calls Emily the madam. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's like, so we're introduces new dynamic in Lourlay and Rhea kind of like, okay, it's also like Emily V. Richard without them being together until Richard comes in. [SPEAKER_01]: He tries to sneak in. [SPEAKER_01]: She's like, what are you doing here, which is so fair. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, you've been relegated to the pullhouse my dude and also like the conversation is the same.
[SPEAKER_00]: And Emily recognized this at because the conversation that happened at drinks is the same one that's happening at the dinner table. [SPEAKER_00]: And she's like, you're all talked out. [SPEAKER_00]: And she's furious about it, and that's when Rachel walks in. [SPEAKER_00]: And we get a little bit of lore about the two of them about, well, she was like, what if I was stark naked in the living room, you can't just walk in here and he was like, you've never been stark naked.
[SPEAKER_00]: You went skinny dipping. [SPEAKER_00]: You didn't even warn overcoat. [SPEAKER_01]: I love it. [SPEAKER_01]: It's one of my favorite contests of the season. [SPEAKER_00]: But then it just keeps going because we go outside with the girls. [SPEAKER_00]: Yep. [SPEAKER_00]: And then we go back to with Emily and Richard because like this is this is really long because we're at the pullhouse where it dinner we're outside and then we go back to the pullhouse again because at the dinner we learn that Emily knows, no, this is not that one.
[SPEAKER_00]: No, I'm crossing them. [SPEAKER_00]: I was like, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's the skewers, but it's like almost the same set up though.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, got a little confused. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, totally. [SPEAKER_00]: Still very good. [SPEAKER_00]: Still very good. [SPEAKER_00]: Which, which for that one, that one is extremely long, but it's basically the same set up, because this one though, Emily, instead of the May, it comes to get them because Robert, geez, is making skewers.
[SPEAKER_00]: And she was like, the deal is drinks with you, dinner with me, and you're serving food, and like, better be hungry. [SPEAKER_00]: So Emily comes, gets them, they go back, and they are like really not eating their food. [SPEAKER_00]: And she was like, oh, I'm going to serve you extra, but during this, Roy takes a call.
[SPEAKER_00]: And obviously it's a boy. [SPEAKER_00]: And Emily finds out that it's Dean. [SPEAKER_00]: And this is when the girls, they go outside, and then we go back to the pullhouse. [SPEAKER_00]: And Emily says, we need to talk, walks inside and matured, very intrigued. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: That's what they started kind of inspiring.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is when they start to sort of mend things these two. [SPEAKER_01]: It's like the beginning of them scheming together. [SPEAKER_01]: So they're kind of come back together. [SPEAKER_01]: Scheme back into the dream. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: There are some great cold opens here.
[SPEAKER_01]: I, you know, in these early in kind of the early half of the season. [SPEAKER_01]: Hey, you're cooking. [SPEAKER_01]: I want to go to Luke's, but I am Luke. [SPEAKER_01]: That is one of my favorites. [SPEAKER_00]: Because this one's another really good one where it's new, where they're waking up at Lorelei's house.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's usually morey and Lorelei at Lorelei's house. [SPEAKER_00]: And then it's Luke, but where he calls. [SPEAKER_00]: It just feels like this sweet moment. [SPEAKER_00]: She's like, but I want to eat Luke's at Luke. [SPEAKER_00]: So he starts packing the food up. [SPEAKER_00]: And there's a lot of duty in these cold opens because she's like, and Luke's naked.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I just love that she's like, I just don't embrace us. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't like the idea of Luke running around naked in my kitchen. [SPEAKER_01]: She's like, well, he's not naked. [SPEAKER_01]: You naked? [SPEAKER_01]: It's just, it's really funny. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Very, very funny.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And I also, to that end, really like in episode six, the Luke and Laura lie date. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: When he comes in and he's like, hey, you're right, age. [SPEAKER_01]: She's like, oh, most have to do this and I have to do this and her socks are in the oven and her, like, [SPEAKER_00]: Carlight is on or headlights are on because the porch light is out for some who did it was Dean and that's why she really just just never fixed the porch light.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, and she can't find her keys but her socks are in the oven and the reason I like this one so much is because it's constant movement like she makes Luke pick the couch up and look under the couch, but then they move to the kitchen and she's putting her socks on and like the dryer's broken, but she left her keys in the back door because she'd go in the back door because the porch light was out and it just feels like it's [SPEAKER_00]: Excellent, because it's the writing, it's a cinematography, the choreography, every part of that is so difficult, but if I can learn Graham, it makes it seem like it's effortless.
[SPEAKER_00]: Totally, it's such a good one. [SPEAKER_01]: The next one I had was the Lorelyce Melso, when she wakes Luke up and she brings him outside. [SPEAKER_00]: That one is so perfect, because that's like another one. [SPEAKER_00]: We're waking up at Luke's now. [SPEAKER_00]: I know, we're waking up at Luke's, and she just suddenly wakes up.
[SPEAKER_00]: I just love there's a line out that I love and when it starts knowing because he's listing all of these meteorologists who said wasn't gonna snow and he goes pants and kimi or idiots. [SPEAKER_00]: That means like one more whiff and you're growing inside. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's very cute.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because in the next one she also wakes up at or she goes to sleep at Luke's. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and it's a lot of loose is where he doesn't have a TV and so she just kind of like is wide awake there and later on the episode she gets into Kitchlet, which is a Kitchen literature because she read the oven manual.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's true, it's true. [SPEAKER_01]: One of the most impressive, impressive may not be the right word, but one of the ones that I really, really love that is very different from I think any cold open that they've done on the show is in say something. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, after wedding burplus.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I knew you were going to say that. [SPEAKER_01]: Season five episode 14. [SPEAKER_01]: You love that one when we did Gamari visit it. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh my God, I love the way they did that because, but specifically because of the way that they do it from the previous Leon.
[SPEAKER_00]: That one. [SPEAKER_00]: They've never used the previously on and they never do it again to usher us into a cool event. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's what I like. [SPEAKER_00]: Because you watch it and you're like, wait, has that episode started? [SPEAKER_01]: Are we still on the previous Leon?
[SPEAKER_01]: If you guys go to season five episode 14 [SPEAKER_01]: the previously on into the colto, don't press skip recap. [SPEAKER_01]: Don't skip the recap because they're recapping you on wedding bell blues, which of course famously ends with Laura Lai standing behind her mother for that picture after the whole blow up with Luke and Christopher.
[SPEAKER_01]: And she says, you and me, we're done. [SPEAKER_01]: and basically they play that whole last scene of Marilyn grabbing her and bringing her over in the previously on. [SPEAKER_01]: Get some coffee Christopher. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: That's he's following her and they play that whole thing out and it's not like because it's completely silent in the previously on.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: There's no like background music like they normally have on [SPEAKER_01]: a previously on. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: The usher's us in to like the law laws ending a fade out and into the episode instead it is dead silence until they play that scene that leads them in and then there is a camera flash, you and me were done camera flash and then we're behind them.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's so good. [SPEAKER_01]: It's so excellently done and the the colopin itself is very good. [SPEAKER_01]: We get to context. [SPEAKER_01]: with Luke, it's really between Rory and Lorela, actually if you look really hard with the people who are playing Emily and Richard. [SPEAKER_01]: It's totally not about them.
[SPEAKER_00]: But the whole conversation is between Emily and not Emily, between Rory and Lorela, because Rory's apologizing. [SPEAKER_00]: She's like, I'm scared. [SPEAKER_00]: She feels responsible. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And, well, I was like, you shouldn't, she's like, everything away with you and Luke, she was like, yeah, he just went to look at the car, she was like, the party's over, they're going home, but then she's like, I need to get a cab, but the best part is when the photographer comes back and he said, I just wanted to get a few more shots in, she said, yeah, me too.
[SPEAKER_00]: Hmm. [SPEAKER_00]: It's really good. [SPEAKER_00]: Or I think maybe like, so would I. I don't remember exactly what she said, but something like that. [SPEAKER_00]: And you're like, oh, [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, okay. [SPEAKER_00]: Really, really good. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: The next one I have is Pulp Friction.
[SPEAKER_00]: Ribbons here return your ribbons. [SPEAKER_00]: I love that cold open. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, when he she brings in Weston's coffee on this the day of our reconciliation. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and Kirk is taking everybody's blue and pink ribbons back, but he has to chase Lou the doubt and rip it off of her.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, she must have shown us the stretchers. [SPEAKER_00]: I love that one. [SPEAKER_00]: But I just, it just is, it feels like we're back. [SPEAKER_00]: Like we're so back. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the one before that, though, in Jason Cheney's food, visually, this one is fantastic because where they walks in to worrying person's dorm, do I listening on the couch and she's like, man, they're around and he's like, I don't know.
[SPEAKER_01]: And that's when he's getting like a little too late. [SPEAKER_00]: And little too. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but this is when they're talking about like, this is my lover. [SPEAKER_00]: My editor and my lover. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he finds out weird and she's like, that's what we are. [SPEAKER_00]: And she's talking to Lorelie and she said that they shouldn't be because she's not getting any sex or love.
[SPEAKER_00]: And she's like, where are you? [SPEAKER_00]: Can I come in there? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, she's like, oh my god. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god. [SPEAKER_00]: But I like the end of it because Doyle is eating a bag of chips that is the size of his body. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I love that. [SPEAKER_01]: Literally at the size of his body.
[SPEAKER_01]: But the last one that really stood out to me because they're there are some really good ones in season five. [SPEAKER_01]: But the one after Pulp friction episode 18 to live in that diorama. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Holarious. [SPEAKER_00]: That might be one of the ones that I would show someone.
[SPEAKER_00]: Honestly, same. [SPEAKER_00]: Because it's like so townny, like they're all lined up to see Oman Twigham. [SPEAKER_00]: Oman Twigham? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I caught him old man's dad. [SPEAKER_00]: different. [SPEAKER_00]: Like Stan, I call him old man Stan, I believe. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, hilarious.
[SPEAKER_00]: I imagine he was a man. [SPEAKER_00]: Old man. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Old man to pick him, Kirk is selling merch. [SPEAKER_00]: It seems that he dies often and they're like just getting there and get out so we can all see him. [SPEAKER_00]: You don't really learn who he was or why everyone's lining up for him, but it just feels like so, go more girls for them to say for a while to this man.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, totally agree. [SPEAKER_00]: Very well to this man. [SPEAKER_01]: But those are the ones that really stood out to me. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know which one to pick, but I would probably choose old mantwickum for showing someone. [SPEAKER_01]: But I think the previously on into say something is so brilliantly done.
[SPEAKER_00]: I know. [SPEAKER_00]: I think that that one and parties over kind of fall into like, [SPEAKER_00]: the technical aspect of being my favorite. [SPEAKER_00]: But I also really, I feel like women of questionable morals and how many crowpogs kind of fit in that same, like I love them, because that's the one where they're both watching the room.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the room was nothing is happening. [SPEAKER_00]: Nothing's happening. [SPEAKER_00]: Like I love that one and women of questionable morals as they're saying in the same way. [SPEAKER_00]: But like, I think maybe Old Man Twickham, to little that timer diorama that I want to show someone.
[SPEAKER_00]: I agree. [SPEAKER_00]: It's lengthy. [SPEAKER_00]: It's funny. [SPEAKER_00]: I will never show them the Dean one. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, without context is not as impressive. [SPEAKER_00]: But without context, it's kind of terrible. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: We're like, we're so spoilery, but we're totally totally.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so we want to go with old man to pick them. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's go with old man to pick them. [SPEAKER_00]: I agree. [SPEAKER_00]: Do you guys feel that's right? [SPEAKER_00]: I feel like everyone's like, kids, it's not boring. [SPEAKER_00]: It's just like it's saying a lot about the town.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think so too. [SPEAKER_01]: I would also throw say something in there because I do think that if you had someone watch a previously on, even if you just started at that last scene, [SPEAKER_01]: with the get some coffee Christopher. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and then rolled it in, I mean, I'd be in trade.
[SPEAKER_01]: I would be in trade. [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe that one, uh, back to back. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, get some vibes. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, totally. [SPEAKER_01]: Moving into season six, I'm really curious what your faves are. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm really curious what my faves are, too. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, because with this one, I kind of wrote a little bit about what each season was doing with them.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: These are way less quippy, way less, like, funny and tro's, and I'm not quite sure what they're doing with them if I'm being honest, because the other ones, like, it was either like really informative, informative, but we don't know yet. [SPEAKER_00]: Or it's just like a funny glimpse at everything.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: why are we so serious? [SPEAKER_00]: We're very serious. [SPEAKER_01]: And one of the ones early on in season six we talked about in revisited on Patreon about how we were kind of like what is happening here and that's in fight face season six episode two. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: because it feels really clunky but suky and I wonder if that's also kind of making we really expand suky at the beginning of season sex. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, absolutely. [SPEAKER_01]: And progress is, it gets better. [SPEAKER_01]: But the first couple episodes of season sex were like, what is this character?
[SPEAKER_01]: But before we get into that, we do something similar, not as different POV, but we pick up where we like immediately where we left off from the finale of season five, which of course is the Luke and Laura like, we're gonna say. [SPEAKER_01]: So I love that we immediately pick up there. [SPEAKER_00]: is quite clunky it's not my favorite it feels it feels like going from the season five finale to the premiere of season six like oh my god she's proposed to him and this is right but when we get to season six I'm like this doesn't feel right this feels wrong and maybe we're supposed to feel like it's wrong because we're always not there things are a rye my favorite part of it is when Kirk is giving one of the bikers a massage and he's like am I doing this right?
[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, it just feels like when the lights go out and it just feels like she's rushed and kind of manic It's kind of how I felt like it when I was watching at this time. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they didn't feel right I couldn't quite get on board. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I agree [SPEAKER_01]: The ones, I mean, like, I feel like once we really get into the season, like, you know, the town meeting with the war reenactors in episode six amazing, really, really lovely street.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Excellent. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And I do like, you know, when Richard brings the doll house to lower light, the end of that episode, and we pick up with that, I do pick up next. [SPEAKER_01]: I love a pickup. [SPEAKER_00]: I love a continuation. [SPEAKER_00]: I love the code.
[SPEAKER_00]: I love the content of it and he was like, we got to come up with a plan. [SPEAKER_00]: She's like, what do you, what the fuck do you mean, my man? [SPEAKER_00]: I had a plan. [SPEAKER_00]: I came to your house and we set up a plan and now you brought me a house to my house and you want to make a plan again.
[SPEAKER_00]: Totally. [SPEAKER_00]: We had a plan. [SPEAKER_00]: You messed up the plan. [SPEAKER_00]: You did not want to do the plan. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, which is what the conversation is about. [SPEAKER_00]: And she's a stubborn girl. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he calls her stubborn girl. [SPEAKER_00]: Which is stubborn girl.
[SPEAKER_00]: Which is what's patty says at the end of the atisket atisket atisket. [SPEAKER_00]: Cold open. [SPEAKER_00]: Mm. [SPEAKER_00]: stubborn girl. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, do you call her that a lot? [SPEAKER_01]: Patty, I'm rich, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, richy, rich
[SPEAKER_00]: He's slipping and bread dig. [SPEAKER_00]: I'll be like that, cause for he comes back. [SPEAKER_00]: She needs pulling good. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he's around the toes. [SPEAKER_00]: Very good. [SPEAKER_00]: I've got love. [SPEAKER_00]: And as we're going through them, I'm like, okay, what am I missing?
[SPEAKER_00]: And then I get to, I was like, oh, I need to watch. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm okay, you're okay. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, I don't remember what this one is. [SPEAKER_00]: And it started, and I was like, LOL, he knew every word to this one. [SPEAKER_00]: How could you have forgotten this? [SPEAKER_00]: This, of course, is no men, just lots of Chinese men.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because Wary and Paris have broken up with their men, both of them show up, while if it isn't new Haven's favorite orhound. [SPEAKER_00]: And I do Paris reads Logan to fill. [SPEAKER_00]: It's amazing. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And then Doyle shows up too, wearing Wary's coat, and Wary and Logan go into the hallway, and they have that like conversation about what he meant and what was going on.
[SPEAKER_00]: she goes in to tell Paris how things have been and she said they have definitely made up. [SPEAKER_00]: But it's just like so good from beginning to end. [SPEAKER_00]: So high drama. [SPEAKER_00]: I think it's one of the most dramatic ones. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I agree. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't know more dramatic one than that one.
[SPEAKER_00]: No, I, well, I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: The dollhouse one is kind of dramatic. [SPEAKER_00]: Say something is pretty dramatic too. [SPEAKER_00]: But like this one feels like maybe [SPEAKER_01]: Another really impressive one is the next episode, which is the real Paulinka. [SPEAKER_00]: That one's iconic because they got fucking Paulinka.
[SPEAKER_01]: Paulinka. [SPEAKER_01]: The real Paulinka. [SPEAKER_01]: But I just love it that they're talking about reference. [SPEAKER_01]: A dream that Laura Laihad and they did this whole dream sequence with Paulinka, the man, and Paulinka, the dog. [SPEAKER_01]: It's very cool. [SPEAKER_00]: Paulinka, the human sitting in Bobette's lap is perhaps my favorite scene in the entire show that they managed to do.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I agree. [SPEAKER_00]: Iconic, so good. [SPEAKER_00]: One that, it's not one of my faves, but like something that like I can never, like every time it happens, I love it. [SPEAKER_00]: It's from a vineyard Valentine with boozee and the boys with the Zyteco band. [SPEAKER_00]: The Zyteco band, so good.
[SPEAKER_00]: I boozee and the boys. [SPEAKER_01]: I love that one. [SPEAKER_00]: And I know, I'm not a lot of people like that episode because... No, but boozee and the boys really funny. [SPEAKER_01]: Brett really liked boozee and the boys. [SPEAKER_00]: I love that one. [SPEAKER_01]: They are quite loveable, aren't they?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they are. [SPEAKER_01]: I think that by the time we get to partings, which famously is one of our favorite episodes, we just watched it recently with Brett on Patreon, his first time. [SPEAKER_00]: I much if you want to. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, it was really good. [SPEAKER_01]: That cold open is the last book end we're going to get because of course it doesn't happen in season seven.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I love that it book ends. [SPEAKER_01]: I wouldn't necessarily say it's one of my favorite cold open, but I love how [SPEAKER_00]: poetic it is that we're starting and ending in this place really good writing because like the way that she's laying the way that she's looking at the camera the conversation with the child in the background like it's just so perfectly done like just it's so well written totally not mentioned it because like of the like just the parallel nature of it is just [SPEAKER_00]: I call it classy, love it, but it's definitely not one of my faves.
[SPEAKER_00]: I would say if we were doing faves It would definitely be the episode 4th spaghetti and meatballs for the ladies over what I imagine is Jessica and Ashley Simpson Yeah, they love to do that, but they never call them by name because they're just talking about like if the blonde hair She was trying to be too much like her sister, but the dark hair was she was trying too hard not to be her sister They take this spaghetti and meatballs because they're too exciting But this is when we find out Emily's getting lacyc surgery from Dr.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so, Dr. Hans, they start fighting too and like, maybe spaghetti meatballs are too exciting. [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe they are. [SPEAKER_00]: The only like, alt contender that I have for season six. [SPEAKER_00]: And just because it's very different is I get a sidekick out of you. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, because it's like Mrs. Kimpy Ovee.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's the only like, Kim's antiques cold open we ever get ever. [SPEAKER_00]: And I was like, if you had asked me like, how many times we started Mrs. Kim's? [SPEAKER_00]: I was like, oh, probably a couple times. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: just the only time, and it's a Kim's POV because they're getting ready for the wedding.
[SPEAKER_00]: Lorelei brings the wedding dress over, but before that Mrs. Kim is just, she's stunned. [SPEAKER_00]: She's shocked. [SPEAKER_00]: Something has occurred to her because she doesn't know what it was. [SPEAKER_00]: And this is also where we find out that Luke isn't going to come to the wedding, but she can't bring, she has to bring a man.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, she can't come alone, she can't come alone. [SPEAKER_00]: She can't come alone, because she said she won't like that. [SPEAKER_00]: That's right. [SPEAKER_00]: Where is he? [SPEAKER_00]: Who? [SPEAKER_00]: but who dresses like you do so funny, which is like we have to agree on a cost, but I love that one because it's just so different and unique, but overall, not like a babe, but I'm like, this is something, it's a little bit different that I wouldn't have expected was the only time that it happens.
[SPEAKER_00]: Totally agree. [SPEAKER_01]: I think that if I were to show someone, the show and get them intrigued, maybe it would be, it would be between the town meeting in, welcome to the Dollhouse and the Real Polygoth. [SPEAKER_00]: by the real polling, I feel like it's one of those things of like, what did I just want?
[SPEAKER_00]: I know, okay, I feel like that is a film by curtain. [SPEAKER_00]: What? [SPEAKER_00]: That literally is a film by curtain. [SPEAKER_00]: That's correct, correct, at that time. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think I would do welcome to the dollhouse, but I wanted you, I'm okay, you're okay. [SPEAKER_00]: I was just about to say that because like I was like, it's not a very good representation of the show as a whole, but it's great.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, totally, great. [SPEAKER_00]: Quite love it. [SPEAKER_00]: And like I would love a booze-o in the boys, but yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I agree. [SPEAKER_00]: But I would say the worst one is, right, and it's all right, fighting. [SPEAKER_00]: It's so awkward. [SPEAKER_01]: It's so uncomfortable.
[SPEAKER_01]: She's in there. [SPEAKER_01]: She's tip-toeing. [SPEAKER_01]: He wakes up. [SPEAKER_00]: He wakes up. [SPEAKER_00]: He wakes up. [SPEAKER_00]: It's so awkward. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's so uncomfortable. [SPEAKER_01]: Always forget which one that episode is a part of, or which one that hold, which episode that hold open is a part of.
[SPEAKER_01]: But oh, awkward. [SPEAKER_01]: For such a fantastic episode, that is a weird way to open it. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like Billy's sense. [SPEAKER_00]: Because it's setting the tone for the episode. [SPEAKER_00]: Totally. [SPEAKER_00]: That's all. [SPEAKER_01]: Speaking of weird ass tones.
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about season 7. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh no. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh no For me, there is one cold open that supersedes them all. [SPEAKER_01]: It's punching Chris. [SPEAKER_01]: It's season 7 episode 2. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't even have to talk about the rest. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't even have to talk about the rest.
[SPEAKER_00]: We do. [SPEAKER_01]: I think season seven episode two. [SPEAKER_01]: That's it. [SPEAKER_01]: That's really it. [SPEAKER_01]: I like the snakes on a plain one. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't. [SPEAKER_00]: You don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't like that one. [SPEAKER_00]: You don't. [SPEAKER_00]: Because like stick to your boundaries, Laurel.
[SPEAKER_00]: I use set boundaries for this relationship. [SPEAKER_00]: Went right out the window. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's fair. [SPEAKER_00]: And took a plane and went to Paris, and I don't want them to. [SPEAKER_00]: The only other one that I quite loved is Go Bulldogs because we love that episode.
[SPEAKER_00]: We love that one because this is when they're having a Friday night dinner cocktail moment. [SPEAKER_00]: They are giving Lorelight and Chris their wedding present, wolf girl painting, wolf girl. [SPEAKER_00]: And then we get such an iconic moment of the voice-mout being replayed where Lorelight dropped the info that she was married to Chris.
[SPEAKER_00]: And Chris and I got married. [SPEAKER_00]: Went something like plays the voicemail. [SPEAKER_00]: It's amazing. [SPEAKER_00]: I love it. [SPEAKER_00]: She's like mom delete that and she was like, no I'm gonna save forever. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that is fair. [SPEAKER_00]: That is fair. [SPEAKER_01]: I see the primary.
[SPEAKER_01]: I see that's probably a close second [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because like scrolling through the rest of these, it's just, we get the red coats are coming, the red coats are coming out. [SPEAKER_01]: We get, you know, like different things that are just kind of like, okay, but they're not, they're pale and comparison.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, my opinion. [SPEAKER_00]: The only other one that I would say feels really big for the episode or like for the seats season, if we can say a big episode for the season for the series, is Laura Lora [SPEAKER_00]: flashback dream. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, just because like we got the paper teacher, we got headmaster Charleston to come back.
[SPEAKER_00]: It is feels like a flashback. [SPEAKER_00]: But I think my personal faith has to be Bon Voyage. [SPEAKER_00]: Christian, I'm a boy. [SPEAKER_01]: The Christian, I'm in poor of it all. [SPEAKER_00]: It's really, really nice. [SPEAKER_00]: Fantastic. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we're writing to me, Jamies.
[SPEAKER_00]: It just feels like a great moment for the show. [SPEAKER_00]: I have it with you. [SPEAKER_00]: I heard desire to be a journalist or to work as a [SPEAKER_00]: foreign correspondent in quite a while. [SPEAKER_01]: So for Sean, I'm important to be there. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I think I agree with you.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a really good nod to like the series as a whole. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but if I'm going to show someone any of these, um, um, maybe Wolf girl, maybe I think without the context for the crisp punch. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, wait, you know, it's interesting. [SPEAKER_00]: I totally got that wrong.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's knit people knit where they have the gift with the voicemail because go bulldogs, the reason that I like to go bulldogs is because that is where she's leaving the voicemail. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, [SPEAKER_00]: She's like, hello? [SPEAKER_00]: How'd you like? [SPEAKER_00]: Hello? [SPEAKER_00]: Like a rain check on the curtain chat.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like, that is very good. [SPEAKER_00]: And it's like, excellent. [SPEAKER_00]: Like the concept of like weaving a voicemail as someone's talking to you is excellent. [SPEAKER_00]: It's hilarious. [SPEAKER_00]: And she does it so well. [SPEAKER_00]: That's, I got those two mixed up.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because they were the voicemails. [SPEAKER_00]: But I do like that one. [SPEAKER_00]: I might show that one. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, I would show that one. [SPEAKER_00]: Because it's like, kind of innocuous, but it shows that there's some sort of disconnect between these characters. [SPEAKER_00]: She calls back, she doesn't answer.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, I kind of like that one because all of the other ones feel like, well, that kind of reminds me of like, when Emily calls, I think it's in season three, when the voice mail just keeps playing over and over again. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, I had to bash my thumb, leave a message. [SPEAKER_01]: It reminds me of kind of a thought, but it did different way.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, it's really nice. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, what was the name of that one? [SPEAKER_00]: That uncle's in vegetables. [SPEAKER_00]: Great episode. [SPEAKER_00]: Great episode. [SPEAKER_00]: Good, good coat of bin. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I saved? [SPEAKER_00]: No. [SPEAKER_00]: But good.
[SPEAKER_01]: Do you have the save overall? [SPEAKER_01]: Overall the seasons? [SPEAKER_01]: Oh God, that would be so challenging. [SPEAKER_01]: To everything we just talked about. [SPEAKER_01]: I know I don't have anything we just talked about. [SPEAKER_01]: God, I don't know, they're so good, but we'll put them, you know what?
[SPEAKER_01]: We'll put them in order of how we kind of talked about them over the last two episodes. [SPEAKER_01]: I know we should have been writing them down as we talked about them. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, well, we'll be the fave. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I know. [SPEAKER_00]: I think it would be one of the ones from season three.
[SPEAKER_00]: I was gonna say it might be when beneath my wings. [SPEAKER_00]: Might be when beneath my wings. [SPEAKER_00]: It might be happy birthday, baby. [SPEAKER_00]: It might be she's going to yell. [SPEAKER_00]: I think I'd say maybe a tie between two of those. [SPEAKER_00]: Both of those are excellent.
[SPEAKER_01]: But I also love kiss and tell. [SPEAKER_01]: I also love kiss and tell. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, you're so right. [SPEAKER_00]: Wait. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like from the early seasons. [SPEAKER_00]: It's kind of kiss and tell and sing an angry C. Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: but also there's a red that way yeah this was like honestly one of the hardest episodes to do it was it was a lot of research a lot of preparation a lot of thought that had to go behind it I also won't lie to you I do think that having done as much rewatching of the show as we have just in our personal life and for this podcast [SPEAKER_01]: Like, there were a lot of them that I watched the first like 10 seconds of it.
[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, oh, I remember what happens. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, are you know, not this one, not this one, close. [SPEAKER_01]: No, but no, it was a card. [SPEAKER_01]: But it was also nice to kind of revisit them as standalone pieces. [SPEAKER_01]: Because you don't really, when you think of an episode as a whole, you don't really separate the cold open from it.
[SPEAKER_01]: You're thinking about the music. [SPEAKER_01]: No, that's the episode. [SPEAKER_01]: But the quiet open is watching the show like this. [SPEAKER_01]: No. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, it is kind of fun because it does really set the tone for the entire episode. [SPEAKER_01]: And I think that that is so cool.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I love that we got a chance to kind of zoom out and zoom in a little bit. [SPEAKER_00]: It was really zooming in. [SPEAKER_01]: It was really zooming in. [SPEAKER_01]: But zoom out at all of them and how they set up each episode. [SPEAKER_01]: for each season and how the dynamic shifts, especially once we get to season six.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it does make me wonder if they had kind of a formula for them, like, okay, let's have them walking through town. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, let's start at a Friday night dinner. [SPEAKER_00]: We just started a Friday night dinner. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, let's do it again. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, I feel like that if they are like pulling from something that feels right.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, oh, let's have them walk through town. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's get the vibes. [SPEAKER_00]: How do we want to start this? [SPEAKER_00]: Totally agree. [SPEAKER_00]: Something we'd have to ask them. [SPEAKER_01]: We don't have to have- Add it to the very long scroll that we've the list that we have.
[SPEAKER_00]: We don't have to have like a seven hour long episode with Amy and Dan to really ask all of the questions. [SPEAKER_00]: It's true. [SPEAKER_00]: It's true. [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe we'll have it here. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's move to first all it. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's manifest. [SPEAKER_00]: Manifest season five, but they'd be the four of us.
[SPEAKER_00]: Five of us. [SPEAKER_00]: me, you, Amy, Dan, and our best at our recipes. [SPEAKER_01]: Yay, love! [SPEAKER_01]: Well, thank you for joining us for our second episode of Gilmour Disaysies in Five. [SPEAKER_01]: It was so wonderful to be in this Spotify studio. [SPEAKER_00]: But I don't hear. [SPEAKER_00]: At this point, no. [SPEAKER_00]: It feels so right. [SPEAKER_00]: I feel weird for me.

[SPEAKER_01]: One of the people we talked about a lot because his location was the location for a lot of the cold opens was Luke and we have some thoughts on whether or not Luke Daines was really all in.
[SPEAKER_00]: Hmm, we'll have one to say on that in the next episode.
