[SPEAKER_01]: Five, six, seven, eight Easter eggs. [SPEAKER_01]: Let's have some little Easter eggs and go more girls. [SPEAKER_01]: For Kirk? [SPEAKER_01]: For Kirk? [SPEAKER_01]: All right, here we go. [SPEAKER_01]: Hi everybody, welcome back to Gilmourdesay with Tara and Haley. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm Tara, this is Haley.
[SPEAKER_01]: Hi, Haley. [SPEAKER_01]: Hi, Tara. [SPEAKER_01]: You look so beautiful today. [SPEAKER_01]: I love this sweater on you. [SPEAKER_01]: I love your hair. [SPEAKER_01]: You just look so gorgeous. [SPEAKER_00]: Did you get that from Newly? [SPEAKER_00]: It is Newly. [SPEAKER_00]: Wow. [SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, you got on today and I was like, my gosh, she looks so radiant. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh my gosh, I'm gonna do it. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna cry. [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you so much. [SPEAKER_00]: That's so amazing. [SPEAKER_00]: By my, like suddenly overwhelmed. [SPEAKER_00]: No, yes, this is from Newly.
[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like, is it just, the thing is, I told you, I was like, of course I'm having my pink year and I was hoping to wear more colors this year, but like my entire Newly was just white, everything white, but like I felt like this has like the little flowers on it is like a little different and that's along the back of it too.
[SPEAKER_00]: No way. [SPEAKER_00]: Like on the top. [SPEAKER_00]: I would turn around, but yeah, the microphone and everything. [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I'll show you my back some other time. [SPEAKER_00]: But I feel like it's so rare when you order new lead to, like, love every single item. [SPEAKER_00]: I think so.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think I'm gonna like everything and then I get it and it's like it's so like the sizing on everything is so different so like if everything fits perfectly I call it a perfect sex and I had a perfect sex this time and so like this was a part of it and I just want to hear it. [SPEAKER_00]: I've been nothing but excited but yes, it's very cute.
[SPEAKER_01]: I really like it and it brings out the color in your eyes your lipstick matches really really nicely with the colors and you just got your hair done [SPEAKER_00]: What a dream. [SPEAKER_00]: Wow. [SPEAKER_00]: Wow. [SPEAKER_00]: Like I loved I love coming to work today. [SPEAKER_00]: This is good.
[SPEAKER_00]: I was actually late because I couldn't find my lipstick and all my upstairs my mom goes I hope there's no traffic. [SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of the stairs together. [SPEAKER_00]: I was like I have to go. [SPEAKER_00]: I have to go. [SPEAKER_00]: I have to go to work because I was late to open funny.
[SPEAKER_00]: But anyway, wow. [SPEAKER_00]: Thanks Tara. [SPEAKER_00]: Tara is wearing our spring stamps. [SPEAKER_00]: I am. [SPEAKER_01]: I just want a little tea today through my hair up a little bit, just a little scoaxa makeup, because I have a little migraine today. [SPEAKER_01]: So, but I'm going to be here with the girlies.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm teaching a tea with a migraine. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, tea. [SPEAKER_00]: Are you sipping tea? [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, actually. [SPEAKER_01]: I have my just iced tea. [SPEAKER_00]: So my gosh. [SPEAKER_01]: Tea and a tea drink and tea exactly with the migraine. [SPEAKER_01]: That's so you're a little migraine.
[SPEAKER_01]: So you know we're here We're doing it, but I'm happy to be here talking about Easter eggs on Gilmore rolls. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm so excited for this episode I'm really excited to hear what you brought to the table because [SPEAKER_01]: because or brought to the basket, brought into the basket because we were kind of working our brains trying to figure out what we wanted to do for this week's episode and I thought it would be really cool in the spirit of Easter Sunday, having just passed that, I was just thinking about Easter eggs and Kirk and the eggs and the ones who couldn't find and he didn't make a map and also have different Easter eggs on nasal because we were trying to find the Gilmore girls Easter eggs there so I was like, I feel like this is the perfect opportunity to have a really Easter egg episode.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I didn't realize when we started measled just how many like little Easter eggs, of course, that we were going to find on there that I know, like such Gilmoreism's Paladinoism's that like, none of them are spoilers, but like, midges mom starts her day with half a great fruit. [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like, that's so Richard Gilmore, like, disdain Paladino, start his day with half a great fruit, who's just centric acid intake is high perhaps.
[SPEAKER_00]: I just feel like maybe we've been wrong about the characters and really the true Dan and Amy representation is Zach and Brian. [SPEAKER_00]: I would love that, honestly. [SPEAKER_00]: And she's concerned about his citric acid intake because he starts his day with half a great fruit. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, but there's like so many little moments in maizeal that like if you were like a gal more super fan like us, like I mean you're listening to the podcast.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I can only imagine that that is how you ended up here that I feel like you're like that aspect of a marvelous time with us. [SPEAKER_01]: I think so too. [SPEAKER_01]: I actually almost wore my marvellous time tea today, because I just thought it was male. [SPEAKER_01]: Did you? [SPEAKER_01]: I got the black crop, yeah, with the pink.
[SPEAKER_01]: I love the black one, with the pink. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it suits you. [SPEAKER_01]: So I almost wore that, but I was like, that's not springy enough. [SPEAKER_01]: And it's not springy, it's not Easter. [SPEAKER_01]: I like that this one is yellow, and it has a little basket on it, which is a basket for Easter eggs.
[SPEAKER_00]: Do you like Easter? [SPEAKER_00]: Are you like Easter hunting? [SPEAKER_01]: Like, I RL do with real eggs. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, yes. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I did when I was a kid I haven't done it in a while actually as adults my grandma still does it when we come over for Easter She'll still hide eggs and they are the plastic ones, of course, that you open and each of them has like a dollar in it But someone finds the five dollar and it's always my cousin Danny.
[SPEAKER_01]: He always somehow like sniffs out the five dollar one Yeah, we keep going Yeah, like you got a five dollar ex-geum exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: You've got the hints He knows exactly where to find them. [SPEAKER_01]: It's just we always make fun of him because it's always him who finds it [SPEAKER_01]: So, I find that to be a little...
[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like he's a little... [SPEAKER_01]: He's a little... [SPEAKER_01]: Probably. [SPEAKER_01]: He's laughing all the way to the bank. [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I like the nostalgic aspect of it because it's like we're all grown. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: You just stress me out a lot. [SPEAKER_00]: Because we don't really go over to my grandmother's house. [SPEAKER_00]: And she lives like 45 minutes away from us. [SPEAKER_00]: And the whole time I'd be like, okay. [SPEAKER_00]: Focus right on next today and like there was a ton of us like a ton of kids and so there would be so many eggs But it's like hot in Georgia, so it's like a little candy in them and she put like my grandma put like quarters and things in them as well Yeah, usually the candy would have melted at that.
[SPEAKER_00]: I was gonna say chocolate. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, and it's just like I would always get so stressed out Because like then we would all count our eggs and there was no competition, you know [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, no, there was a competition. [SPEAKER_00]: There was a competition. [SPEAKER_00]: They was absolutely unspoken.
[SPEAKER_00]: And it's like, there's nothing in me, but like, needing to win. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, this Easter egg hunt that had no winner. [SPEAKER_00]: But like, we knew us cousins knew there was a winner. [SPEAKER_00]: 100% and so with you, it was just incredibly stressful for me personally. [SPEAKER_00]: So as a high achiever, girly, I understand.
[SPEAKER_00]: It was quite difficult to desire. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And now that I'm a little bit older, [SPEAKER_00]: I'm a little bit older than I was when I was younger, of course. [SPEAKER_00]: I love it. [SPEAKER_00]: I'll be a little bit. [SPEAKER_01]: But listen, we're all in our 30s, and still when we go over for Easter, we're hunting Easter eggs.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I keep sending like reals and memes to my mom of like adults who are like looking for nursing home for my parents if I don't get an Easter basket this year, because of course kit. [SPEAKER_00]: Kate makes Easter baskets for mice and nephews, of course. [SPEAKER_00]: They're little.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they're from the Easter Bunny. [SPEAKER_00]: And I keep joking. [SPEAKER_00]: I was like, I'm a good and Easter basket this year. [SPEAKER_00]: Like last year, she gave me $20. [SPEAKER_00]: And she said, notice from the Easter Bunny, he asked me to give it to you. [SPEAKER_00]: And I was like, no, I was like, mostly joking.
[SPEAKER_00]: She was like, I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: It's not a labor. [SPEAKER_00]: The lyrics. [SPEAKER_01]: My mom still does Easter Easter baskets for us, especially for home. [SPEAKER_01]: Which I'll be [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this free freester actually you're making the better earlier today, and I It's not an Easter bunny under Brats pillow so that he when I said do you think it should switch the pillows and he was like, yeah He fell for it.
[SPEAKER_01]: He was doing the pillow, and I was like You thought that you said bunny no, but it's Easter for my mom. [SPEAKER_00]: It's always from the Easter bunny. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, of course Well, that's how we talk about Santa in our house. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like I'll be like yeah Your mom got you that really great sweater.
[SPEAKER_01]: He goes Santa got me this sweater [SPEAKER_01]: Very different, but yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So I just feel like it's um, it's like it's nostalgic, but I feel like it's more fun, personally, to go Easter egg hunting within Gilmore girls. [SPEAKER_00]: Like seeing these little moments. [SPEAKER_00]: And I feel like we have to classify Easter eggs because like they could be many different things.
[SPEAKER_00]: But I don't see it as like something that's like necessarily like foreshadowing or like a reference that's like, [SPEAKER_00]: A true reference like when they reference pop culture like sometimes that doesn't necessarily feel like an easter egg to me Like it's like or if there's like callbacks within the show like I don't know some of them feel like intentional plot things that don't Feel like Easter eggs some of them feel like details that get pulled later into the series that definitely feel like Easter eggs [SPEAKER_01]: I totally agree with you.
[SPEAKER_01]: I want to define an Easter egg to start the soft because we did put a question box up on our Instagram story saying like, what are your favorite Easter eggs and Gilmore girls that you didn't notice until like your thousand three watch? [SPEAKER_01]: And I think people were a little confused about what an Easter egg, like the class in the internet are confused.
[SPEAKER_01]: We didn't have any Easter egg. [SPEAKER_01]: And so [SPEAKER_01]: an eased drag in a movie or a film or television series is a hidden intentional secret joke or reference planted by creators for attentive viewers to find. [SPEAKER_01]: So this really is for super fans. [SPEAKER_01]: Like if you're watching the show for the first time, you might not notice what that is, the significance to it if you don't know the lore behind maybe the writers or the characters or the actors themselves.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so that is what the definition of an easer I guess. [SPEAKER_00]: Because when I, I was looking up, like I had my own Easter eggs, but then I was looking up some online just to see if there was something that I was missing, because I didn't actually look at the question box that you posted, because I know that you were really excited by it.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I was like, oh, I'll let her, I'll let her tell me what ended up there. [SPEAKER_00]: But some of them were like, suki makes blueberry shortcake, [SPEAKER_00]: And I was like, that's a direct, that's a, that's a, that's not an Easter egg that's she had that there. [SPEAKER_00]: And now she has it here.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's not an Easter egg. [SPEAKER_00]: There's just some things that I'm like, I'm like, I'm like confused about how we, how we ended up here. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I. I looked up some some fun facts last night. [SPEAKER_01]: And some of the articles that are like Easter eggs and Gilmore rolls that I bet you didn't notice.
[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think I'd consider these things Easter eggs. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, or like one of the ones was like that the finale, like the season seven finale is the same as the end of the pilot. [SPEAKER_00]: Like the final shot. [SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't call that an Easter egg.
[SPEAKER_00]: I would call that a full circle moment. [SPEAKER_00]: I completely agree with you. [SPEAKER_00]: So like I think that there's it's it's different. [SPEAKER_00]: It might be personal preference. [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe that is an easter egg to you. [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't think so, but yeah as we go into this we'll see we'll see what we ended up because we're going to have 12 yes because you know who had a hard time finding 12 eggs.
[SPEAKER_00]: Kirk, Kirk. [SPEAKER_00]: He should have made a map. [SPEAKER_00]: He should have made a map. [SPEAKER_00]: That's like honestly one of my favorite like Touny episodes is when they all get together to find the eggs because we have this like reveal of like gypsy and Jackson as BFFs Like all everyone's kind of like not upset with Kirk, but upset with Kirk and he's just like so bound and determined not to let everyone down and in the end It's Luke that saves the day for him [SPEAKER_01]: I love you, Luke Dane.
[SPEAKER_01]: I love you. [SPEAKER_01]: I love you. [SPEAKER_00]: It's so perfect. [SPEAKER_00]: I love that one so much. [SPEAKER_00]: And so that was our inspiration for fun and 12. [SPEAKER_01]: We are Luke Dane. [SPEAKER_01]: We are Luke Dane, and we're finding the last 12 eggs for Kirk. [SPEAKER_01]: So we're going to build a list of 12 together.
[SPEAKER_01]: We imagine that we might have some that we're bringing to the table. [SPEAKER_01]: We just wanted to talk about our faves. [SPEAKER_01]: And honestly for me, I want to talk about some like the niche ones because there are some that I think are obvious and there are some that I actually learned one that I learned about last night, which I'm really excited to share with you and I can't wait to like go down this rabbit hole with you.
[SPEAKER_00]: Can I tell you? [SPEAKER_00]: I also, because we each have sex, we're eating, we're eating six to the table to make 12, because math, when I was making my Course got to see it when I was coming up with my sex. [SPEAKER_00]: I was like trying not to come up with ones that I knew you would have [SPEAKER_00]: like specifically like it was harder for me because it's like oh I do like that one but I do know that's like more of like a taro one and then it's not that it's like less of one for me but I know that taro really likes that one so I need to come up with a different one love okay I was like trying to like like not have them overlapped because I know there's something you really like yeah all right
[SPEAKER_01]: Specifically for doing that for me. [SPEAKER_00]: I know one that I think is this is like not how this should go But one I think that is going to be on your list that I didn't put on my list because it's on my honorable mentions But I thought it was going to be on your list. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, it was Brad Linkford.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh 100% it's one of the first ones I put down Yeah, so let's kick it off with Brad Langford Brad Langford returning in season three after a quote-unquote successful run of into the woods [SPEAKER_01]: That was true, and I know a lot of people know this, the Adam Wiley, the actor who plays Brad Langford, was Jack in the 2002 Broadway Revival of Into the Woods, and I love that he references that the New York Times said that he was winningly naive, because I've always wondered if that was true.
[SPEAKER_01]: I could not find that sentence directly anywhere, actually looked in the New York Times archives, they did say that he was movingly performed to the role of Jack. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, and so I wonder if they like the Paladino's read another article and they like pulled that sentiment from that and said it was the times I don't know or they just came up with it themselves which either way I feel like I love that [SPEAKER_01]: What I love about it is what it does for the Paris Rory and Brad Langford dynamic, because I believe this is the big one.
[SPEAKER_01]: This happens in the big one, which is when Rory and Paris, they're kind of compete. [SPEAKER_01]: And a lot of other students are starting to compete for that sea span spot. [SPEAKER_01]: And Brad Langford is also in the running, and Paris is trying to psych everybody out, and so she starts singing, you guys know it's my favorite.
[SPEAKER_01]: Who's got the beans, the beans and magic beans? [SPEAKER_01]: Like she's so. [SPEAKER_01]: She's so funny and I just love it. [SPEAKER_01]: I think that that's a really fun Easter egg. [SPEAKER_01]: It's like if you don't, that's what I love about Easter eggs. [SPEAKER_01]: It's one of those things where it's like, if you're not in on the joke, because of that actor played.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's not about it necessarily being a pop culture reference like you were saying. [SPEAKER_01]: It's about the fact that like, if you don't know that that actor played that part, it's like the same, I didn't have this on my list, but it's the same as when they talk about David Gowski going up to California.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's what my list. [SPEAKER_01]: Tristan going to North Carolina for military school. [SPEAKER_01]: It's like those are nods to what those actors were actually doing in real life, which I think is really fun. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and like that's why I was going to kind of like for you with Brad Langford.
[SPEAKER_00]: I was going to compare that to Dave Forgowski because I love that there's like that's what Easter eggs feel like. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like if you know, you know, and if you don't, it doesn't upset anything that you're watching. [SPEAKER_00]: It just feels like something that's occurring.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so in, what is it? [SPEAKER_00]: In chicken or beef, right? [SPEAKER_00]: When Roy comes and sees Lane and David, not Dave, oh, Dave, when Zach and Brian are at Kinzenteaks and they're having like a little band meeting and Roy shows up. [SPEAKER_00]: And they think it's Mrs. Kim and they find out or we find out that Dave is now in California and he went out to college out there.
[SPEAKER_00]: We don't know where he went to college. [SPEAKER_00]: We just know that he went to California. [SPEAKER_00]: which is because Adam Brody went out to the O.C. [SPEAKER_00]: and was never heard from again. [SPEAKER_00]: And he was never seen or heard from ever again. [SPEAKER_00]: But he was in the O.C.
[SPEAKER_00]: and so that I love that they included that as I could nod to the actor themselves. [SPEAKER_00]: Like almost it almost feels like we're paying homage to and honoring the actor themselves in the script and immortalizing them in the story, which I quite love totally. [SPEAKER_00]: Very sad.
[SPEAKER_00]: I wish you would have stayed. [SPEAKER_00]: Me too. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, to your point, the one that I put was that David Galski existing as a character is in and of itself, an Easter egg. [SPEAKER_01]: Because David Galski is the name of Helen Pie's husband. [SPEAKER_01]: And Helen Pie is Amy Sherman Pellino's best friend, one of the producers on Gilmore Girls, and she was the basis for the character playing Kim.
[SPEAKER_01]: So to name one of the love interest, David Galski, [SPEAKER_01]: It was such a mess, I just, I love it. [SPEAKER_01]: And if you don't know, like you said, it doesn't interrupt anything about the story. [SPEAKER_01]: But I think that it's a major Easter egg. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, talked about this a lot on this show, on our show like this podcast, that this, I think was the sign that Lane was supposed to end up with Dave for Galski.
[SPEAKER_01]: had on a birdie not left to go to the OC. [SPEAKER_00]: Who would have thought that man would be a star? [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I guess everyone because he's fantastic. [SPEAKER_00]: He's wonderful. [SPEAKER_00]: He's simply divine. [SPEAKER_00]: So that was that was hard on them that he got cast in a bigger show for him.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: He'd roll by. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: quite heartbreaking for us because it does feel like with like a show that's going on for this many seasons, it's quite hard sometimes to lock in a love interest too early for someone. [SPEAKER_00]: But we did it with Suki, and so Suki was always with Jackson.
[SPEAKER_00]: We had lame kind of a little boy crazy in season one in season two, and when we meet Dave, and [SPEAKER_00]: Of course, like we could have her with him for the rest of the series, like we don't need to break them up. [SPEAKER_00]: We don't, I mean, she is a side character. [SPEAKER_00]: Like of course, the side characters can be happy and have their own struggles with suki and jax and tend to go back and forth on.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like theirs was like finding out the sex with their baby. [SPEAKER_00]: Like that's such an innocuous conflict between the two of them. [SPEAKER_00]: But I could have, I could have so could have seen like the day for Gowski, the fictional day for Gowski kind of mirroring real day for Gowski to be like that long-term partner for a lane, especially because like day for Gowski, IRL, real day for Gowski is a musician, as is day for Gowski fictional a musician.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so it just, it feels like that's where we were headed. [SPEAKER_00]: And, all right, P. All right, good to come in. [SPEAKER_01]: I will also say people write in or call in a lot about this, but in season two, secrets and loans. [SPEAKER_01]: More like the home is on the phone with someone named Mr. Regalsky.
[SPEAKER_01]: And this was before the character of David Galsky became his own entity. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if that was Amy's plan all along. [SPEAKER_01]: But she definitely uses David Galsky's last name in secrets and loans. [SPEAKER_01]: I think a lot of people are like, do you think that's Dave's dad?
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, [SPEAKER_01]: I think that that was just for her using his last name before she knew she was gonna create a whole character after him. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: But no, also an Easter egg like that in and of itself is an egg. [SPEAKER_01]: It's an egg. [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe it's not even Easter egg.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's just a regular egg. [SPEAKER_00]: But I feel like that makes sense that like a writer would like pull names because like in my book if like you know me personally As you're reading it you're gonna be like L.O.L. [SPEAKER_00]: like thinking of like me pulling real people's names like your mom's name End up in the book like your mom.
[SPEAKER_00]: She's not like a real character. [SPEAKER_00]: Like a she is not herself But I have used her name as a character in my book my and so it's your mom Wow [SPEAKER_00]: And so it's like that sort of thing of like when you read it you just know it's a character But like you're gonna read it.
[SPEAKER_00]: You're like, that's my mom. [SPEAKER_00]: That's my mom So I feel like that's probably what she did where she was like, oh hell in the t-shirt husband's name here like Yeah, exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, which speaking of Helen this wasn't on my list But it's something that we have to include which is that happy alien is an anagram of hell and pie [SPEAKER_01]: It was the first thing I included, because I think it's one of the biggest Easter eggs on yellow mortg rolls, a happy alien being an anagram for Helen Pie is brilliant, especially because it's a human.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I love though that they probably were like, oh, we can get alien out of this. [SPEAKER_00]: What are we going to do with the other letters? [SPEAKER_00]: App, Pepp, Pepp, yeah, exact app was like an alien, like they found alien and they were like, okay, we're locked in. [SPEAKER_00]: You got it.
[SPEAKER_00]: You got it. [SPEAKER_00]: You got it. [SPEAKER_00]: You got it. [SPEAKER_00]: You know. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, happy Leanne was way better. [SPEAKER_00]: I really think so. [SPEAKER_01]: I really agree. [SPEAKER_01]: Hi, yeah, absolutely. [SPEAKER_01]: Happy Leanne in and in of itself is a very large Easter egg in the Gilmore.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, universe for sure. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And I think that's something that like, yeah, that really makes sense. [SPEAKER_00]: That like, if you didn't know, it doesn't bother you. [SPEAKER_00]: If you notice, you're like, hey, look, that's fun. [SPEAKER_00]: That's fun.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's really the definition of an Easter egg. [SPEAKER_00]: What's next on your list? [SPEAKER_00]: Well, this is one that you pointed out to me, but I put it on my list even though probably would have been on your list. [SPEAKER_00]: It should have been on my list as Tara's Easter egg lists.
[SPEAKER_00]: And it's in to live in the diorama when Lane goes to Sophie's music and prompts her about writing music with her because she finds this record. [SPEAKER_00]: And in the background in the music shop, [SPEAKER_00]: And I think that that's one of those small ones that's just like, oh, so good.
[SPEAKER_00]: Great. [SPEAKER_00]: And it's like so perfectly suited to the scene itself. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, I think that as we're going through nasal, I think that Dan Paladino, who I say it's Dan Paladino, maybe it's like the music department, maybe it's like whoever does the music on the show. [SPEAKER_00]: But I say Dan Paladino because I know he's like such a music buff that like the songs that he is picking for [SPEAKER_00]: each particular scene.
[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like suits it so well, like thematically and like title that I feel like this is one of those moments that like good more girls uses music very differently than nasal dyes. [SPEAKER_00]: I feel like this is a perfect example in 11-light diorama when it's playing and so fees music shop.
[SPEAKER_00]: So what is called? [SPEAKER_00]: Sophie's music shop and my brain wanted to call it Sophie's records. [SPEAKER_00]: No, it's not I think it's called Sophie's music job that it's playing in there because they're talking about writing music and she wrote that song So it just I know it's a cute little nod to my love.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's one of my favorite ones because it is truly one of those like the girls who get it Get it and if you don't know it's okay It actually doesn't change anything, but it makes it It makes the moment so much cooler, but now you're a girl who gets it and now you're a girl who's in the know [SPEAKER_00]: That's what we are.
[SPEAKER_00]: We're just making girls who get it. [SPEAKER_00]: This is what this episode is. [SPEAKER_00]: We're creating girls who get it, get it, get it, get it, girl. [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, so I thought one, by means of course, Cal King sings where you lead a follow. [SPEAKER_00]: So she's in there.
[SPEAKER_00]: That feels like a little, you know, he's drag, which she's [SPEAKER_00]: Carol King is an Easter egg. [SPEAKER_00]: She's an Easter egg. [SPEAKER_00]: She like pops up. [SPEAKER_00]: What is it that Suki has a dream that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes pop out of a cake? [SPEAKER_00]: That's kind of what I imagine Carol King doing with a Easter egg.
[SPEAKER_00]: Pops out. [SPEAKER_00]: Sure. [SPEAKER_00]: You're stuck hunting. [SPEAKER_00]: Carol King pops out instead of a chocolate. [SPEAKER_01]: Here she is. [SPEAKER_01]: So the next one on my list, which I do believe we've talked about before, is Amy using her mom's name as the Hughes Brothers garage.
[SPEAKER_01]: That chipsy ends up owning [SPEAKER_01]: working out of. [SPEAKER_01]: But it's first referenced at the end of season one. [SPEAKER_01]: I believe it's in love Daisy's intributors when Luke is working on the roof. [SPEAKER_01]: And she's going back and forth with worry about who owned the garage before Mabe and Hughes bought it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Mabe and Hughes is Amy's mother. [SPEAKER_01]: And I just love that. [SPEAKER_01]: I love that reference. [SPEAKER_01]: I love that huge brothers is the name of the garage. [SPEAKER_01]: It's such a subtle nod to her family. [SPEAKER_01]: I love that she's also put her mom in the show. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I just, I love that Easter egg. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: There's two specific scenes that her mom is in, in, um, Roy stance. [SPEAKER_00]: She's one of the women who's with Patty when they discover [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and then she's in their revival in the tango club. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, she's selling, she's selling, she's going around, going around, selling cigarettes, yes.
[SPEAKER_00]: I can't hear her on, she's selling three things and she keeps saying it like this, but like the cadence, I can't remember what it's, but she's that's her. [SPEAKER_00]: There's just something so endearing about a mother daughter show to have references to your own mother in it that I [SPEAKER_00]: Fine, quite cute.
[SPEAKER_00]: Especially after when we were at Paley Fest, which was like this time last year. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh my gosh, it's crazy. [SPEAKER_00]: That like her mom, when she was actually on stage, when Amy was on stage, her mom was like heckling her. [SPEAKER_00]: And I was like, that's kind of like my dream as a mom.
[SPEAKER_00]: I would want to like be the heckling mom. [SPEAKER_01]: I also love that Amy was like, bitch, sit down. [SPEAKER_00]: She was like, no one can hear you. [SPEAKER_00]: I love that so much. [SPEAKER_01]: What's the next one on your list? [SPEAKER_00]: The next one on my list, I've gone so out of order.
[SPEAKER_00]: Me too. [SPEAKER_00]: I just popped around. [SPEAKER_00]: I have these in any particular order. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_00]: I think that this one is my top fave to let's just say it in the middle, but it was just at the top of my list. [SPEAKER_00]: And it's in a house is not a home when Lane goes to her mom to tell her that she is basically quitting the band like this is over.
[SPEAKER_00]: And [SPEAKER_00]: And in the sales section is Lorelai's Dollhouse, which feels like a Easter egg of foreshadowing of what's to come, is that like Lorelai's childhood and her like connection to her home is on sale. [SPEAKER_00]: It's been discounted. [SPEAKER_00]: It's not worth what it used to be worth because they are about to betray her.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like it feels like a little like meaning behind the Easter egg. [SPEAKER_00]: But I just love that her Dollhouse is on just the sales section. [SPEAKER_00]: How it got there? [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: It has to be real strong. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know how it ended up there because it doesn't show up until, you know, like episode five or six of season six for Laurel.
[SPEAKER_00]: Episode six. [SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to the dollhouse. [SPEAKER_01]: But did we see it? [SPEAKER_01]: In star cross lovers, did we see it in Laura's bedroom? [SPEAKER_00]: It's in more life bedroom, like in when they're in her bedroom. [SPEAKER_00]: But this is like the first time that we're seeing it outside of our house.
[SPEAKER_00]: Which is like, that's why I feel like it's such an easter egg because like, that's like a plot point in season six episodes. [SPEAKER_00]: Six welcome to the dollhouse is like Emily is trying to like smoke her out of her fox hole as Laura like calls it and she's trying to get her to come get her dollhouse and she won't.
[SPEAKER_00]: And that episode ends with Richard dropping the dollhouse off. [SPEAKER_00]: and then 21 in this along these numbers starts with Luke being like, what is this made up? [SPEAKER_00]: Does this have a real foundation? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's so heavy. [SPEAKER_00]: Do you think that they left that they put the doll house there on purpose?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, because otherwise, how would it get there? [SPEAKER_01]: I just mean like, do you think that they realized the audience would know that that was normalized all house? [SPEAKER_00]: I think so. [SPEAKER_00]: I think because it's like, I don't think that would be there on accident. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's interesting because Mrs. Kim is like, isn't she like, not playing with it?
[SPEAKER_00]: But she's like assembling a little. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Meaning it's something, I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: If you're intentional because it's in the sales section. [SPEAKER_00]: Hmm, like that's why I've always felt like we are we are foreshadowing the betrayal of Lorelei from our parents.
[SPEAKER_00]: Interesting. [SPEAKER_00]: That like her her childhood dreams are not worth as much anymore because here her parents come in together. [SPEAKER_00]: At least that's always been my thought. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no, a lot of people when like there were a lot of people in the question box that said the doll house at Mrs. Kim's Lorelei's doll house existing there, which yeah, totally agree.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so I have two that are pretty niche, but the one that I just want to put over is a blanket statement, because this I feel is very much in your wheelhouse, but I wasn't even sure how to categorize it, because I feel like partings is an Easter egg. [SPEAKER_01]: Like the whole entire episode of partings is just filled to the brim with Easter eggs.
[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_01]: So if you had to pick one from partings, what would it be? [SPEAKER_00]: I think it's going to be a tie between Sam Phillips and Dan [SPEAKER_01]: I put the dampality, you know, or be like, I've been very my thumb. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, my, my, my thumb. [SPEAKER_01]: But the Sam Phillips one gives me chills everywhere.
[SPEAKER_00]: See, it's really just like the difference between like, do you want something that feels like so, like, so damn. [SPEAKER_00]: That's just like silly and out there to just, you know, just like a comic relief that exists. [SPEAKER_00]: Sarah, or do you want something that is like so deeply emotional where like the voice behind like every part of like the emotional journey of this show is featured in it?
[SPEAKER_00]: Like she is the Nala's. [SPEAKER_00]: She is carrying like the emotional journey of this show. [SPEAKER_00]: So it's like, do you want to feel very deeply impacted in emotional or do you want to have a silly ha ha? [SPEAKER_01]: I think they're both they're both they're both good and that's why I say like parties as a whole with all the musicians they bring in it's an Easter egg and it's so hard to like parse out which stand on their own as like well they're all standing on their own all the musicians they're all standing there on their own well except for the piano sparks he's true sparks are sitting yeah yeah thanks for that yeah you're welcome [SPEAKER_00]: But I think that like all of the musicians kind of like we can maybe just put like musicians in parties as an easter egg because all of those musicians and bands show up in the show like all of them there this is none of their first except for the
[SPEAKER_00]: the town troubadour who is in Kirk's a Kirk. [SPEAKER_00]: That's her first time. [SPEAKER_00]: That is her first time. [SPEAKER_00]: But it's not her first appearance. [SPEAKER_00]: We can all hear a little Easter egg. [SPEAKER_00]: We'd call her a little Easter egg on her own in her own category.
[SPEAKER_00]: But I feel like each of the musicians is like, we can say like parting some music Easter eggs. [SPEAKER_00]: But Dan, I mean, Dan, I know. [SPEAKER_00]: I thought it's so hard. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know which one I like more. [SPEAKER_00]: Like samphilips crying, Dan laughing. [SPEAKER_00]: I know this is me trying to get Dan as our top word of the year.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
[SPEAKER_01]: Musicians and partings I think is like the best blanket statement to encapsulate all of them. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I will also say in partings and we talked about this in our coverage of that episode. [SPEAKER_01]: They have the stand-ins that, like if you don't know that they are more in-gram Alexis Bladel and Scott Patterson's stand-ins playing, like having one liners and bit parts throughout the episode, like that's an Easter egg, I'd say.
[SPEAKER_00]: Partings as a whole. [SPEAKER_00]: Partings, that's what I'm saying. [SPEAKER_00]: They really, and they drive through themselves into that, especially because of the last one. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Partings. [SPEAKER_00]: I feel like partings itself has multiple meetings, like partings from the two of them with the show, more like Luke are partying, you know, it's a beaver and his thumb.
[SPEAKER_00]: They are partying. [SPEAKER_00]: Totally. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, I didn't write that down. [SPEAKER_00]: That's, I'm actually really surprised. [SPEAKER_00]: I try not to think about partings too much if I'm being honest. [SPEAKER_00]: Otherwise, I, just cause I love it so much. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, okay, I was like, because, you know, just don't want to think about it.
[SPEAKER_00]: That was a really weird thing to say, Ali. [SPEAKER_00]: But like, sometimes I think you guys need to recognize that I am obsessed with the show in an unhealthy way. [SPEAKER_00]: And I don't, I don't know what made you believe, otherwise, [SPEAKER_00]: Hmm, going in a different direction.
[SPEAKER_00]: Another finale being, I can't get started. [SPEAKER_00]: I love the throwaway line in season one and double date when Suki and Jackson are having their real first date. [SPEAKER_00]: They went to the front, front, and rushed on. [SPEAKER_00]: It didn't really work out. [SPEAKER_00]: And now they're at Luke's where they always should have been in this place that loves them and their hometown having their first little date.
[SPEAKER_00]: and Luke looks over and Laura says, I'll wear blue to the wedding. [SPEAKER_00]: I think I'll wear blue to the wedding. [SPEAKER_00]: And then she does wear blue to the wedding. [SPEAKER_00]: She does. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I feel like that's another finale that like, they like kind of jam-packed them with some Easter eggs because also Suki is using the hop-a to get married that Luke built for her for her wedding with Matt.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: That I feel like [SPEAKER_00]: It almost feels more appropriate for them to use it because it was made. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, it was made with such love and like the way that Luke talks about relationships when he delivers it. [SPEAKER_00]: It feels like it's much more representative of Jackson and Suki than it ever was, of Max and Laura Lye.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I kind of put like Suki's wedding, like Laura Lye's contributions to Suki's wedding. [SPEAKER_01]: So it's like, yeah, and the blue dress, very sweet. [SPEAKER_01]: I put Laura Lye saying I think I'll wear a blue to the wedding in double date on there. [SPEAKER_00]: And like, honestly, it could have been such a throwaway line that they didn't even remember because when they get to the wedding they're like, okay, what color does Lauren Graham look best in?
[SPEAKER_00]: Blue. [SPEAKER_00]: True. [SPEAKER_00]: What are in blue? [SPEAKER_00]: Very true. [SPEAKER_01]: This could have been very unintentional, but it did mean something to us. [SPEAKER_00]: I know, and I think that that is somewhat of where a fandom can kind of take over what an Easter egg means, because there can be every intention for a writer, like Amy and Dan not to have intentionally had her wear a blue dress.
[SPEAKER_00]: She could have just Brenda, the costume designer, could have just been like, Lauren, [SPEAKER_00]: But for us, that really felt important. [SPEAKER_00]: So like, regardless of whether it was intentional that she did wear blue to the wedding, she ultimately did wear blue. [SPEAKER_00]: And so we get to have that Easter egg regardless of whether we know that was intentional for them.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that there's like kind of two sides to it of like, if it works out, it's an Easter egg for us, and it's ours. [SPEAKER_01]: I completely, it's our show. [SPEAKER_01]: Completely agree the next one that I have like I said earlier is like kind of niche, but I that's what we're here I was really excited about it so in season five worry has a poster in her dorm room That's a stop the war on choice yeah and it's a planned parenthood poster [SPEAKER_01]: And I didn't find it to be an Easter egg until reading Kelly Bishop's book, because on the one Sunday for her, she says, I'd never spent any personal time with Amy away from the studio.
[SPEAKER_01]: That changed not long after we finished shooting season four. [SPEAKER_01]: When Amy, her friend and Gilmore Girls producer Helen Pie and I went on an adventure, I'll always think of as one of the most memorable experiences of my life. [SPEAKER_01]: And it was a pro-choice, planned parenthood rally, [SPEAKER_01]: in Washington, D.C. Now, from what I, the research that I did on this poster specifically, I believe that this poster came from that rally.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I love the idea of that being the case, because they went shortly after filming season four. [SPEAKER_01]: So if they were to have picked up posters there, this poster didn't appear on the scene until season five. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm very stormy. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: So I kind of love the idea of like that being, not only a political statement for Amy to put her own show, but also something that felt like a bonding experience for Kelly and Amy.
[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, behind the scenes. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, especially to be writing her memoir of like this at this stage in her life to like reflect on what was like the most monumental moments in her life and having that be one of them that feels really intentional and personal. [SPEAKER_00]: I love that stepping away from like the actual meaning of the poster like when you said stop the war on choice like immediately because like like I love assigning words to characters and like of course Logan when he says it's your choice ace I've always loved that arc of [SPEAKER_00]: that man has never made a choice in his life, but it has nothing to do with the poster itself.
[SPEAKER_01]: It might though, do you ever thought about the fact that, like, they went to this rally and Kelly writes here that they just kept chanting choice, choice, choice. [SPEAKER_01]: Do you think that had any bearing on Amy's writing? [SPEAKER_00]: Like, it could have been those sort of thing of, like, the intention of what is behind that within the rally and, like, what it sparked for her for ideas for a storyline.
[SPEAKER_00]: that like, I don't necessarily think that when Logan is saying it has anything to do with being pro-choice, I just think that maybe it's the idea of like that could spark an idea to continue on in a certain direction. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I do though think that there's room for possibility considering that like Amy always said, you know, we wanted Rory to encounter a man who was like her dad.
[SPEAKER_01]: and they put that into the character of Logan. [SPEAKER_01]: And I don't know how far out they knew that they were going to have Logan be the father of her child knowing that the last four words were going to be me. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you know, you know what I mean? [SPEAKER_01]: Just like kind of setting that up.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if that has anything to do with it. [SPEAKER_01]: But hearing you say that just kind of like, [SPEAKER_00]: I think it could have multiple errors to that. [SPEAKER_00]: It's also giving that thing of like, what if Matt had been cast in, I don't know what's, what's another version of the OC, the other OC, and like he had to leave and go to California as well.
[SPEAKER_00]: Ultimately, he does leave and go to California, which... [SPEAKER_00]: It's not necessarily an Easter egg. [SPEAKER_00]: It's just where they dump all the ex-boyfriends. [SPEAKER_00]: It's true. [SPEAKER_00]: California is the land of ex-boyfriends. [SPEAKER_00]: Just put them all there.
[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I like kind of like the idea that there's a lot of different meanings behind them having done that. [SPEAKER_00]: But I like that potentially that poster in her room came from that moment in their lives. [SPEAKER_00]: I like that. [SPEAKER_00]: Me too. [SPEAKER_01]: That was fun.
[SPEAKER_01]: It is fun. [SPEAKER_01]: I was one of the first things I thought of when we were talking about Easter eggs. [SPEAKER_01]: I was like, oh, you know, the stop the war on choice and her kind of putting that in the background. [SPEAKER_01]: But then I remembered the chapter of the book from Kelly's book that was so impactful.
[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe we did. [SPEAKER_00]: Did we connect that? [SPEAKER_00]: When we talked about it last year, you're before. [SPEAKER_00]: Have we ever to be had this conversation? [SPEAKER_00]: I know there's so many times when I start to have like a memory of something I'm like, Did we ever talk about this?
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: Thanks so. [SPEAKER_00]: But if we did. [SPEAKER_00]: our besties will definitely. [SPEAKER_00]: They will let us know. [SPEAKER_00]: I have another one. [SPEAKER_00]: I wanted to find one that was I wanted to bring up one that was kind of book-related and it was one that when we were watching the revival you didn't notice but of course I did because I'm always looking to see what they're reading that in summer, Laura Lai at the pool is reading wild.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, and I remember when you mentioned that I did notice that I think that the revival similarly to partings is written to be just littered with Easter eggs. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you know, so I kind of didn't consider the revival at all and I nod it all. [SPEAKER_01]: in my acting of this, just because in my listing this out, not that the Easter eggs aren't fun, but it's one of those things where it's like May Whitman is an Easter egg, so it's Peter Crowe.
[SPEAKER_00]: So like it's in that one to the higher end because we can do them all. [SPEAKER_00]: That's like Easter egg that kind of feels like foreshadowing. [SPEAKER_00]: It feels like the same kind of Easter egg. [SPEAKER_00]: I wanted to, I just wanted to include a bookish one, and I remember you said you hadn't noticed that one, so I wanted to bring it up.
[SPEAKER_00]: But I feel like it is the same kind of Easter egg that PGLG is. [SPEAKER_00]: Hmm, when it's a foreshadowing of what's about to happen, she's reading wild, which is like just kind of a popular book at the time, like it's wild, and then in fall she decides she's going to do wild, and she has not at any point drawn attention to the fact that you're so reading wild.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, she's not talking about it. [SPEAKER_00]: She just does it, so it's like it's a little foreshadowing that we're still kind of have to catch. [SPEAKER_00]: Whereas LGPG, of course, in the Laura's first day, Yale, when we see Laura lie, I guess Laura is right, Rory, the L, the LG, moving into her, the L, not to be confused with Luzergaco, is moving into her dorm room, and there's a little post-it note that denotes that she's supposed to be in that room with PG.
[SPEAKER_01]: Nothing will get me more than Brett theal going. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god, PG, Paris is here. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god, I'm caught a bunch that. [SPEAKER_01]: How did you catch that? [SPEAKER_01]: Because I remember that being like one of the biggest jaw drops ever when I watched the show for the first time as a kid.
[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, oh my god, parents is there with how much you cheat. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and Brett picked up on it right away. [SPEAKER_00]: I thought when feels like one of those Easter eggs, it's only an Easter egg for about 10 minutes, because in your like, oh, this was a little foreshadowing.
[SPEAKER_00]: This was a foreshadowing Easter egg. [SPEAKER_00]: In like a way that you didn't have to like think about in terms of like the dollhouse being on in like the sales section. [SPEAKER_00]: That one feels like metaphorical. [SPEAKER_00]: Whereas PG is, it sums coming. [SPEAKER_00]: Sums coming around the corner, coming around the mountain.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, the last one that I have is one that I never ever knew about. [SPEAKER_01]: I read about it online last night, and I was like, wow, how fun. [SPEAKER_01]: What is it? [SPEAKER_01]: The phone number that Luke gives Laura lie at the beginning of season five was a real phone number that they bought.
[SPEAKER_01]: Remember he gets a cell phone. [SPEAKER_01]: He says I got a cell phone. [SPEAKER_01]: he's leaving her the voice mail. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yes. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: He leaves like 12 on a row. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: She gets her like pen and paper out to write down the number and the message.
[SPEAKER_00]: And she's like, he's like, it can be helpful if you had the number. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: The number is 860 2941986. [SPEAKER_01]: which is number number. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I only know that because our number is eight six year is also an eight six oh area code.
[SPEAKER_01]: And as someone who grew up in Connecticut, it's either two zero three or it's eight six. [SPEAKER_01]: So I think there's a new one now, but there's always a new growing up. [SPEAKER_01]: It was 203 or it was eight six. [SPEAKER_01]: So he gives her this phone number. [SPEAKER_01]: And apparently production bought that number during the series, because Amy did not want the 555, like the typical 555 TV show number.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, when you called that number, this is everything that I read on Reddit. [SPEAKER_01]: I can't confirm now because when you call that number it is still apparently it's like bounced around between a bunch of people because Gilmore girls fans keep calling that phone number and like at one point of a long-to-a-kind in Kenneth and then it was going to be mad now then at one point it was registered to no one people probably like get rid of the dog or Kenneth he was getting called like is this Luke know it's Kenneth [SPEAKER_00]: No, I was just kidding, how the fuck is this?
[SPEAKER_00]: Go home, go to bed. [SPEAKER_01]: Get a reloading! [SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, someone I'm right at said, I believe when the original series was airing. [SPEAKER_01]: Scott Patterson was the one who set up the number because when you called it, you would hear a message from Scott asking for donations to help the Johns Hopkins Children's Center because his brother-in-law was the director of the hospital at the time.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so when you called that phone number, like if anybody was quick enough in the year 2004 to write it down and call, well, they had plenty of time to get it ready because he did take some time to he did. [SPEAKER_01]: But you, for me, I would expect that to be like a 555 number. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not thinking of writing that phone number down when a character says it on a TV show.
[SPEAKER_01]: Hmm, it's kind of like a fan mail phone number. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it is a little, that's what I was thinking. [SPEAKER_00]: Like it's like you call and there's like a little fan something. [SPEAKER_00]: Love voice mail that you can, I mean, like ours, we have a little. [SPEAKER_01]: I was gonna say, there was a part of me that was like, maybe we should try to time it.
[SPEAKER_01]: So when someone gets rid of that phone number, you can dig it. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I would love, oh, I would love to have the phone number, I'd just be on the other end of it and people call it like, hi, hi, you want to talk about going to our girls? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'll be so much fun, but now that when you call our voice mail, a lot of people get confused because we use Laura Lies, voice mail is like that she has on her phone on her answering machine.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's a lot of people will be like, uh, and then they'll hang up and they'll call back and they'll like, okay. [SPEAKER_00]: This is Gilmore to say. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, this is Gilmore to say. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_00]: All right. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Because people will get confused because it's like, one of them was it was like, leave a message if you must.
[SPEAKER_00]: Is that what it is? [SPEAKER_01]: We're not here. [SPEAKER_01]: Leave a message. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, like, speak if you must. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: That's what it was. [SPEAKER_01]: And so I'll that confused a lot of people. [SPEAKER_01]: I think the one we have right now is like, um, we're not here.
[SPEAKER_01]: We have a life, get over it or something. [SPEAKER_01]: And someone left a message. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if they knew it was, like, a skill more to say me, but they dialed the wrong number. [SPEAKER_01]: But they were like, glad you have a life. [SPEAKER_01]: Um, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I was like, oh.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, no. [SPEAKER_01]: I was just calling you back. [SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, oh, I don't know if you have the right number. [SPEAKER_00]: But I would have loved it. [SPEAKER_00]: I would have loved it. [SPEAKER_00]: If I was like Amy writing this number into like, put the number of someone you like really disliked, like if like you and I like had beef and I like put your phone number in it that he read off and then like all of these fans of the show just called you and do you have to change your number?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: That would be kind of fun. [SPEAKER_00]: Kind of you. [SPEAKER_00]: Diabolical. [SPEAKER_00]: I love it. [SPEAKER_00]: I love it. [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: But my dad can be a little diabolical. [SPEAKER_00]: Do I execute them? [SPEAKER_00]: Do I act on them?
[SPEAKER_00]: No. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't have a hit show to include your number in one day. [SPEAKER_00]: One day. [SPEAKER_01]: We'll see what happens. [SPEAKER_01]: So here's the thing. [SPEAKER_01]: We have 13. [SPEAKER_01]: If my calculations are correct. [SPEAKER_01]: So we've got David Galski as a character being Lane Kim's love interest within that I have like the regal scheme name being used.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: So that counts as one. [SPEAKER_01]: Two. [SPEAKER_01]: Three. [SPEAKER_01]: Maben Hughes. [SPEAKER_01]: We did chat with Brad Langford. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I have Brad Langford. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Great. [SPEAKER_01]: Just on my list.
[SPEAKER_01]: Three. [SPEAKER_01]: Maben Hughes. [SPEAKER_01]: Being the namesake for the Hughes brothers. [SPEAKER_01]: Four. [SPEAKER_01]: Brad Langford returning from into the woods and actually returning from into the woods. [SPEAKER_01]: From the woods. [SPEAKER_01]: Rory Gilmore stopped the war on choice poster in her dorm room.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's number five. [SPEAKER_01]: Number six is I think I'll wear blue to the wedding. [SPEAKER_01]: Loreline double date. [SPEAKER_01]: Number seven, the musicians and partings because that in and of itself is an easter egg. [SPEAKER_01]: Number eight was the phone number that Luke gives Lorely.
[SPEAKER_01]: Number nine was Pleasant Valley Sunday playing behind Sophie in her music shop. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Ten. [SPEAKER_01]: Lorely's dollhouse. [SPEAKER_01]: I miss [SPEAKER_01]: And then 13 is characters leaving and going to the destination of their TV show. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like David Gowski leaving, Tristan, Chad Michael Murray leaving and going to North Carolina, Jess Mariano going to California, that was more for this been off the number was, but yeah, yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: So that's 13. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know where to move things around. [SPEAKER_00]: The only other one I had was Suki with the Hupa, but that kind of feels like it's in the wedding. [SPEAKER_00]: Like that feels like it's good in the wedding. [SPEAKER_00]: Suki's wedding. [SPEAKER_00]: I kind of want to put the wild one next to the LGBTQ because they're like the same kind of Easter egg.
[SPEAKER_00]: They're not related at all, but like it's the same concept of, [SPEAKER_00]: It's like such a brief easter egg that it's more of like an easter egg of foreshadowing. [SPEAKER_00]: It's an easter egg of darkness. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, not an easter egg of darkness. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if they feel separate to me.
[SPEAKER_00]: They're separate. [SPEAKER_00]: They're the same kind, though the same color, but they have different things inside. [SPEAKER_01]: Well let's have 13, then we're going to give Kirk an extra egg, that's really nice, or we can keep one for ourselves. [SPEAKER_00]: Well who's to say that Luke didn't like that he counted right?
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, and we just found an extra egg. [SPEAKER_00]: Surprise, it's a 13th egg. [SPEAKER_00]: Who has surprised that we set out to do something very specific at the beginning of this episode and by the end of it we change the rules? [SPEAKER_00]: Not I, not I said the fly. [SPEAKER_00]: Is there one of them that feels more honorable mentioned than the others?
[SPEAKER_01]: I think characters leaving and going to their destination like the destination of their TV show could be an honorable mention. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I was gonna say we could separate out wild lower-light reading wild because it's in the revival. [SPEAKER_00]: But we can say 12 for the series and we have a little honorable mention for the revival.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's too many to name. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, there's just, we would have to have our revival Easter eggs episode. [SPEAKER_00]: Totally. [SPEAKER_00]: Who's to say we can't? [SPEAKER_00]: Who's to say we can't? [SPEAKER_00]: We can do it everyone. [SPEAKER_00]: It's our pod. [SPEAKER_00]: We'd make the rules.
[SPEAKER_00]: So you said? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so we can have like a little, the revival egg that has been reviving. [SPEAKER_00]: I love a revival egg. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, yes. [SPEAKER_00]: Love that sounds too. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so we have 12. [SPEAKER_00]: So we've 12 is fun. [SPEAKER_00]: Plus one, which math would say 13, but that's not true.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's not what we're here for all math would say 12 plus one. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and that's, those are eggs. [SPEAKER_00]: Easter eggs. [SPEAKER_01]: Easter eggs. [SPEAKER_01]: If there was one that we left out that you wish would have ended up in his basket, let us know.
[SPEAKER_01]: You can comment on YouTube. [SPEAKER_01]: You can call in because we'll definitely do a Gilmour to consider about this at the end of the month. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Amazon Instagram, but the best way the easiest way is for you to comment on YouTube, because that's where we can see your comments.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because we can respond, respond a lot easier. [SPEAKER_00]: Have a little convo. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and I do the convo. [SPEAKER_01]: You can make comments at a certain time stamp. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, to reference in the episode, which I think is really cool. [SPEAKER_00]: That's one of my favorite things.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's also quite fun that if you are watching a YouTube video and someone made a comment at a certain time stamp. [SPEAKER_00]: If you have it up and you have the comments open, that comment will show up at the top. [SPEAKER_00]: when that timestamp comes along. [SPEAKER_00]: So you can see what other people were saying then because I have a lot of like, like I like to watch chats and reacts, who they react to tailor songs, and so like people will comment, like things that they noticed at certain timestamps, that the girls did notice, and so then like there's like a layered experience for the viewer for other commenters if you comment at the timestamp.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I quite enjoy that. [SPEAKER_00]: That's quite fun. [SPEAKER_00]: So you could add a little timestamp comment for other viewers to [SPEAKER_00]: see what you're saying. [SPEAKER_00]: Like if you're like these girlies got it wrong or I absolutely disagree at a time stamp. [SPEAKER_01]: So maybe you had someone else feel the same.
[SPEAKER_01]: As always, if you enjoyed this episode, feel free to give us a five star rating on Apple Podcasts or Spotify wherever you listen and be sure to subscribe wherever you listen. [SPEAKER_01]: And also on YouTube as we mentioned, it's a lot of fun to see your comments, and we've been doing a lot over there.
[SPEAKER_01]: So it's been really cool to react and see everybody who comments and say hi. [SPEAKER_01]: We got a really wonderful comment from one of our listeners the other day on YouTube that I need to show you when we hop off because we see it. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we cited and if you want to shop any of our merch, you can do so at www.killmortissay.com.
[SPEAKER_01]: We debuted a new website a couple of weeks ago and it's just cute. [SPEAKER_01]: We've gotten some really fun feedback on her new outfit. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if it. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we also have a newsletter at The Gilmortissay Gazette over there. [SPEAKER_00]: So go check her out.
[SPEAKER_00]: We have moved on from the rewatch club to do maizeal, of course. [SPEAKER_00]: So if you want to listen to a marvelous time and follow along with our maizeal rewatch, you can head over to our Patreon and become a member. [SPEAKER_00]: But we, of course, were doing the rewatch club before this, and something that was quite difficult compared to Gilmour revisited to the rewatch club is we would be watching a scene together.
[SPEAKER_00]: And all we wanted to do was pause and talk about like moment by moment. [SPEAKER_00]: and like it was going by too fast for us to actually deep dive into a scene because it was the first time we had ever watched all of these episodes together. [SPEAKER_00]: Like and we're witnessing these things happening and really getting each other's reaction to moment by moment.
[SPEAKER_00]: It inspired us that we wanted to find a way to deep dive into scenes on part. [SPEAKER_00]: And we'll have more to say on that next episode.
