[SPEAKER_02]: We're officially in the full swing of March. [SPEAKER_02]: Like, it is March. [SPEAKER_02]: It is official by the time this episode airs got it. [SPEAKER_02]: I hope there's some sunshine because here in New York we are not having a fun time. [SPEAKER_01]: That is quite different than the experience I am having in the sunshine state.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, it's a little different. [SPEAKER_01]: So I am experiencing some. [SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be almost 90 degrees this weekend. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I know I know I'm going to be struggling. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to be suffering. [SPEAKER_01]: We're on opposites of the spectrum here.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be almost 40 degrees. [SPEAKER_01]: Actually it's going to be like 43 degrees. [SPEAKER_01]: We believe it's going to be like 50 degrees warmer where I am. [SPEAKER_01]: Why are you crazy? [SPEAKER_01]: Wild. [SPEAKER_01]: Let's do hot for me though. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that is a little too hot.
[SPEAKER_01]: I prefer a nice like 65 to 2D degree. [SPEAKER_01]: I like a nice 77. [SPEAKER_02]: I just mean that like, you know, in the morning, if we wake up in its in the 60s, even the 50s, that's fine. [SPEAKER_02]: And then, like, if it gets up to the 70s, hi lady, that's too hot. [SPEAKER_01]: You've gone too far.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't like it too hot, and I don't like it too cold all she needs and I like jacket All I need is a late jacket. [SPEAKER_01]: No, but that's next month next month is a little late jacket Because this month is March and I was one of our patreon members one of our troll-up said it is a March-a-list time [SPEAKER_02]: It is a martialist marvellous time as you all know our patreon podcast our newest iteration on patreon is a marvellous time a marvellous missus mason podcast And our cover was revealed yesterday You guys we have been excited to show this to you for like almost two months.

[SPEAKER_01]: If you need a DJ, if you need a photographer, if you need someone to talk to. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's like honestly, the biggest Harry Styles and Billie Eilish fan.

[SPEAKER_01]: And the best part about it was we were in the car on the way back from the photo shoot. [SPEAKER_01]: And Tara was like, should we show anyone this? [SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, not yet. [SPEAKER_00]: I wanted you to be totally already. [SPEAKER_01]: And Tara was like, upload 1,000 photos straight to the stories.
[SPEAKER_02]: I just was like, should we do behind the scenes? [SPEAKER_02]: Like, a teaser. [SPEAKER_02]: I just want to show people already because it was so cool. [SPEAKER_02]: And so fun. [SPEAKER_02]: And we looked fantastic. [SPEAKER_02]: Not a two to three words. [SPEAKER_01]: I know. [SPEAKER_01]: Shout out to Ashley for doing our hair.
[SPEAKER_01]: Shout out to Gerardo for our proud Gerardo. [SPEAKER_01]: Our age. [SPEAKER_01]: Just being our, yes, being our night and training armor. [SPEAKER_01]: Always the whole day. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm just so excited. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm excited to finally edit together the vlog that I have of all of the footage.

[SPEAKER_01]: And next Thursday, we will release the first hour of our... [SPEAKER_02]: We apt for a long time. [SPEAKER_01]: We talked for a long time. [SPEAKER_01]: We had a lot to say, but at an hour in, we had only talked about five minutes of the episode. [SPEAKER_01]: So we were like, well, well, here we are.
[SPEAKER_01]: Here we've got God. [SPEAKER_01]: So we're going to be on the first hour. [SPEAKER_01]: God bless, Kerry. [SPEAKER_01]: Big hearts to carry. [SPEAKER_01]: Big love to carry. [SPEAKER_01]: Big coffee to carry. [SPEAKER_01]: Because, wow, what a nice day. [SPEAKER_02]: Not all of our episodes are going to be that long.
[SPEAKER_02]: We of course like the because Brett was shocked We were talking about this last night. [SPEAKER_02]: We went out and got a little bed at the cocktail bar near our apartment And he was like so what did you guys talk about? [SPEAKER_02]: Because I told him we were working for about three hours and I was like we recorded for three and a half hours He was like about what [SPEAKER_01]: Well, we didn't need Tara on the mic about something that we're jazzed about because we were simply like too excited to know we were not the opposite of too excited to speak We were too excited to shut up.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we were too excited. [SPEAKER_01]: We were so excited. [SPEAKER_01]: It was like first hour. [SPEAKER_02]: It was like, oh my god, my god, my god. [SPEAKER_01]: We couldn't we couldn't get the words out fast enough and it turns out we really couldn't because we were there for quite some time.
[SPEAKER_01]: But I think it was because it was a lot of [SPEAKER_01]: It was a lot of daygling and laughing and set up, and also was talking about the history of that sort of mean. [SPEAKER_02]: Like our personal history with Maysall, and I just told, I bet if total by and tear caught me in a lie, the stream of consciousness that Haley shares with me about Maysall, I can't wait for you guys to listen to it.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's very fun. [SPEAKER_01]: I can't wait for you guys to see it. [SPEAKER_01]: We should post it contextlessly next week or story. [SPEAKER_01]: I think we should that we really really funny people just see what what is this Why what if they said what if they done why his healing made up the plot of a show that doesn't exist so silly [SPEAKER_02]: But anyway, you guys are going to get the like first hour ish of our first episode of a marvellous time on pod next week.
[SPEAKER_02]: We are also going to do a whole nasal episode next week. [SPEAKER_02]: We'll talk about that at the end of today's episode. [SPEAKER_00]: So it's going to be a marvelous. [SPEAKER_02]: It is like an Amy. [SPEAKER_02]: It's a marvelous. [SPEAKER_02]: This is amazing. [SPEAKER_02]: Marvelous Mrs. Paladino.
[SPEAKER_02]: If you will episode next week and so it'll be a marvelous time kind of week next week. [SPEAKER_01]: And you might think, girlies, what happened to Gilmore girls? [SPEAKER_01]: Don't worry, we somehow find a way to consistently and constantly bring everything back to Gilmore girls the whole time.
[SPEAKER_02]: And Amy makes it easy. [SPEAKER_02]: That pilot is absolutely brilliant. [SPEAKER_02]: And Nintendo can feel her one note. [SPEAKER_01]: We had one note. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you had one note. [SPEAKER_01]: It's still a 10 on 10. [SPEAKER_01]: I did. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I still have it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_02]: She still has it and I have one note of Haley's stream of consciousness on what she thought he is always going to be So we both have a note. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, we both have a note. [SPEAKER_01]: You're note is I don't know a lot of fun. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, yours is much more fun, but yeah, I think it's just like a fun little Martialist time a marvelous time as we time travel next week, but this week [SPEAKER_01]: There's no time traveling this week.
[SPEAKER_02]: We're just talking about this week, you know, even if I were my fourth girl's tea, you were your fourth girl's tea. [SPEAKER_02]: We are having like a fourth girl's season right now. [SPEAKER_02]: We did it for our stamps collection last month in February. [SPEAKER_02]: And what we really wanted to lean into is March's women's history month.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's a very four of the girls kind of month. [SPEAKER_02]: We kind of love doing that in February and March. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, yeah, let's have to. [SPEAKER_02]: It's a month's love for the girls [SPEAKER_02]: And then also, March is women's history month. [SPEAKER_02]: So I was really excited.
[SPEAKER_02]: I wanted to do an episode for the girls, but specifically for the non-kill more girls. [SPEAKER_01]: For the other girls. [SPEAKER_01]: The other women, if you will. [SPEAKER_01]: The other women. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Because the blondes, like famously most of them, if not all of them are the blondes.
[SPEAKER_01]: If not, like 100% blondes, there's a blonde highlight in there. [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: They are less brunette than they can look at. [SPEAKER_01]: Where there's less for that. [SPEAKER_01]: Which to the Elmer Girls is blonde. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: I just thought it was time to talk about the non-Gill More Girls to talk about, you know, Rachel Lindsey Shane, Sherry.
[SPEAKER_02]: Shane Cole. [SPEAKER_02]: Shane. [SPEAKER_01]: Shane was our first realization of this. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: When we were watching this and revisited, we were like, what are you talking about? [SPEAKER_01]: We're supposed to dislike the cutest girl to walk into Star's Hollow.
[SPEAKER_01]: Cotton candy, Jane. [SPEAKER_01]: Cotton candy, Jane, our girl. [SPEAKER_01]: Like if you've been listening to the pod for as long as the pod's been the pod, you know Cotton candy, Jane. [SPEAKER_01]: She's our girl. [SPEAKER_01]: She is our girl. [SPEAKER_02]: And I hated her growing up.
[SPEAKER_02]: Of course, when I watched the show, when I was 12 years old, I was like, I hate that woman, because she wasn't loved just because I love Jess. [SPEAKER_02]: I love Jess. [SPEAKER_02]: I love Jess and worry. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm rooting for them. [SPEAKER_02]: And so it got us thinking about kind of this like justice for the girls, justice for the law and Gilmore girls in this series for the blonde.
[SPEAKER_02]: And justice for the blondes because I know a lot of people feel that way about Lindsay who also happens to be blond because if I know anything about Amy Sherman Palette, you know, she loves to villainize [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, well, mech gets blonde for just a minute. [SPEAKER_01]: Just a hot minute there in the flashback.
[SPEAKER_01]: Just a hot minute, like a hot burning minute, which I'm so convinced that Tara needs to do like a little cutie, like short cut with like platinum blonde. [SPEAKER_01]: Like I'm like obsessed with this idea now. [SPEAKER_01]: We'll get to get you a wig. [SPEAKER_01]: We're gonna see how it looks because I'm, I think you would look stunning.
[SPEAKER_02]: But I think we just pulled up photos of me and college and we could probably just take it from there. [SPEAKER_02]: Because there's been times in my life when I had like very short platinum blonde hair. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, of course, she posted pictures of us as like cotton candy our versions of ourselves like Lonnie's getting to our daily.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, you guys stories you're gonna pop off. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah for this episode [SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, I do feel like these women were admittedly positioned within the writing, within the casting, like their characteristics as a whole, to be people that we did not root for. [SPEAKER_02]: If not, like, kind of found a little villainous, if you will.
[SPEAKER_02]: And so I'm really excited to talk about all of them today and to kind of decide whether or not [SPEAKER_02]: these women truly like warranted the audience being like, okay, you're insufferable or you're just mental or we don't like you or you may poor decisions or if it truly was that because the reality is like as you grow up you kind of discover that like a lot of these women didn't necessarily do anything to warrant that reaction from the audience they were just dating men who were trying to cope rebound get over a Gilmore girl or who the Gilmore girl felt [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly, that's kind of why in my mind this was like blonde or bad.
[SPEAKER_01]: It was kind of like the framework of this with blonde being like blonde or bad blonde meaning they just were dating a guy that a Gilmore girl wanted. [SPEAKER_01]: They were just blonde. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know [SPEAKER_01]: which like aligned with like the way that like in the 2000s we were talking about blonde women like Paris Hilton Britney Spears like even like throwing like Reese with her spoon with legally blonde in there like like dumb blonde like that kind of idea and like where we supposed to dislike them because the writers wanted us to dislike them via like Laura Lai not liking them or liking them and like it's not fair and like justice for this blonde [SPEAKER_01]: or were they bad, meaning like they actually had these villainous qualities and like us not liking them is more complex and like to the storyline that they were inserted into rather than us just like not supposed to like this girl who's just like not a good beauty store employee.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly. [SPEAKER_02]: either because they're like standing in the way of the Gilmore girl getting what she wanted. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Or the way honestly, like as I was going through this, I was like, it's also kind of having to do with how they're introduced into the story via a conversation via like physically being introduced to the audience in the story.
[SPEAKER_02]: And how that ignites our feelings as an audience about these characters because that does play an important role in how I perceived a lot of them. [SPEAKER_01]: You're so right, because it's like we are supposed to, I feel like be on the side of the Gilmore girl. [SPEAKER_01]: Specifically, in my mind, if the writers want us to dislike or like someone, we're going off the cues of lower lives.
[SPEAKER_01]: You really are. [SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes, Rory, but I feel like more often than not, it's lower a lie. [SPEAKER_01]: It's lower a lie. [SPEAKER_01]: And if it is Rory, it's because Rory has a confirmed for us that we don't like this person. [SPEAKER_02]: Totally. [SPEAKER_01]: I think the only real exception to that is kind of Jess, because I'm like, well, Rory, you can hate about you.
[SPEAKER_01]: Eight of all you want. [SPEAKER_01]: That's that's a cutie right there. [SPEAKER_01]: It's eventually Logan, but like, wow, I didn't even include that. [SPEAKER_02]: No, like Logan, but we're not talking about the blonde to get you out. [SPEAKER_02]: We're just talking about women. [SPEAKER_02]: We're just talking about the blonde.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and we're going to start from the beginning. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, go back to the beginning. [SPEAKER_01]: Speaking of blonde, Hillary Duff, 2000's blonde. [SPEAKER_02]: She was talking about the toxic mom group because, like, the, actually, uh, French-made taste date. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: I tell her that. [SPEAKER_01]: Like toxic friend group. [SPEAKER_02]: I love it. [SPEAKER_02]: I love her talking about her little lore, her little drama. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Good for her. [SPEAKER_01]: Also a blonde of the 2000s. [SPEAKER_02]: Actually. [SPEAKER_01]: You know?
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: This week is for the blondes. [SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, we're going to start with Rachel. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Still back to the beginning. [SPEAKER_02]: Let's talk about Rachel. [SPEAKER_01]: And here's the thing about Rachel. [SPEAKER_01]: Rachel is on break.
[SPEAKER_01]: I was going to say her not really a blonde, but like her hair is a little more like she does look at those ends. [SPEAKER_01]: Those ends are blonde. [SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_01]: She's got an on-bray that girl. [SPEAKER_02]: She does have an on-bray. [SPEAKER_02]: But she's like kind of like red head strawberry blonde, like that kind of her her beautiful, beautiful curly hair.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, does have a bit of an on-bray to it and by the end. [SPEAKER_02]: It's like when she comes in in star cross lovers and other strangers for the first time, it's like, oh, she's a girly with what's more on highlight. [SPEAKER_02]: So, yeah, not necessarily a blonde blonde, but we are counting her, because she is another one.
[SPEAKER_02]: Arguably the first other woman that is introduced into the story for Laura Bye. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And in terms of being like blonde or bad, I don't ever think that she exists in like the honestly either camp, because in the sense that like, I don't think we're made to dislike her.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're supposed to like, when we meet her, we meet her through dialogue, through like retellings of Rachel. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, oh, this was Rachel's jacket. [SPEAKER_01]: Rachel was like, Luke's big love, except for Anna Nardini, which comes back later. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry.
[SPEAKER_02]: Very confusing. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Brown hair, but maybe an honorary blonde. [SPEAKER_02]: I was going to say, I had a note about Anna, like I feel like we'll get to her later, but like I feel like she's a little bit of an exception to the rule for a very specific reason and we'll talk about her.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we'll get to her, but I don't feel like Rachel fits on either of those camps simply because I don't think we're not meant to like her because but do you remember if you didn't like her when you first watched the series? [SPEAKER_02]: Not in the [SPEAKER_02]: I think that I felt like neutral about her, but I disliked that she was keeping Luke and Laura Liapart in my opinion.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because she has inserted into the story to do exactly that, which it's quite complicated because Laura Liar already has two other suitors. [SPEAKER_01]: So, yeah, give Rachel one of them, you know? [SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, come on or have one. [SPEAKER_01]: Laura Liapart should have been present.
[SPEAKER_02]: Come on, all right. [SPEAKER_02]: We're Max Medina. [SPEAKER_02]: They're both like perfectly born. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, Max and Rachel together would have been a great one. [SPEAKER_01]: Interesting. [SPEAKER_01]: That's [SPEAKER_01]: but I don't think we were meant to not like her because Laura Lye is really in dear to her.
[SPEAKER_01]: Laura Lye really likes her. [SPEAKER_02]: Like, Laura Lye, she's very in dear to Laura Lye. [SPEAKER_02]: And I think that's what makes us as an audience. [SPEAKER_02]: Not necessarily root for her. [SPEAKER_02]: She's just not like, we're not mad like the other list of girls that we have here.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I also wouldn't put her in like the bad category because I don't think she's necessarily doing anything wrong. [SPEAKER_01]: I just don't think that she's a right for Luke and B, I guess it's more like sub A is just like the reason that she's not right for Luke is like she doesn't have like the same lifestyle or like want the same things from life.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think she just wants to want Luke because it seems like she is adventurous like jumping out of airplanes like whatever it is she does before she arrives. [SPEAKER_01]: She seems like she wants to kind of be on the run. [SPEAKER_01]: just be out there, live in life, and she's so dramatic for sure.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, she will sometimes wants to settle back in for a little while and he'll think of her personality. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, almost like a habit that she needs to break. [SPEAKER_01]: And she does so by means of getting out of the way for Laura Lai. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, which on the same year, that also in Dears, the audience for Rachel is that she is the only one of these women who is like, I see what is happening here on out.
[SPEAKER_02]: go. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think we're supposed to like her. [SPEAKER_01]: I think we're supposed to like her self-awareness. [SPEAKER_01]: And ultimately, I don't think there's anything that's necessarily wrong with her on either end. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think she's blonde or bad. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think she's umbrey.
[SPEAKER_01]: Amazing. [SPEAKER_01]: She's true. [SPEAKER_01]: She's true. [SPEAKER_02]: She looks physically and emotionally umbrey. [SPEAKER_02]: You know, I remember, like I said, not necessarily like feeling one way or the next about Rachel, I just want to my girl Laura, I'd be happy and I felt like at the time that was with Luke.
[SPEAKER_02]: And she's inserted into the story as a mechanism for keeping them apart a little longer. [SPEAKER_02]: But also, she is the reason I would say that like, I mean, it was already lingering and lower-rise mind, but in star-cost lover, she's kind of feeling like overall of this love. [SPEAKER_02]: that's happening all around her and she seeks solace in Luke or ends up finding it in Luke when they're sitting at the counter.
[SPEAKER_02]: Only for Rachel to come in and interrupt that moment and therefore interrupt the connection between the two of them. [SPEAKER_02]: But what she ends up doing in the next scene when she's like recounting everything to Rory and Rory's getting ready for her three month anniversary date with Dean is like she's like oh I just like I'm feeling a certain kind of way and I miss Max and it ends up pushing Laura like back in the direction of Max.
[SPEAKER_02]: So I think that understanding that that was her purpose and knowing that both Rachel is wrong for Luke, Max is wrong for Lauraly, and ultimately what we want and what we're rooting for is for Luke and Lauraly, or at least I was, you know, yeah, it made me kind of like towards Rachel, but not in a way where I like dislike her as much as I dislike Shane.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think it's more of like, I dislike what we're what's happening here, like, oh, get my couple back together, but I don't dislike you. [SPEAKER_01]: What is your favorite part about Rachel? [SPEAKER_02]: I love the way she speaks to Lorelai's attributes, like in Emily and Wonderland when she comes over with the photos from StarCross lovers and she's like, do your contacts?
[SPEAKER_02]: Your eyes are beautiful. [SPEAKER_02]: And she looks at Luke and she's like, aren't her eyes gorgeous? [SPEAKER_02]: I just think that's such a good girl. [SPEAKER_02]: Rachel is a girl's. [SPEAKER_02]: Do you think she was baiting him? [SPEAKER_02]: No, because you don't sense that in her demeanor.
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, yeah, depending on her delivery of that line, she could have been. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't have the writers wrote it that way. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't think she thinks that Rachel is a girl's girl. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, she was the one who introduced her to the dragonfly, the Rachel property.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, which I love. [SPEAKER_01]: I know. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think that my Lisa are a part of her has nothing to do with her character at all. [SPEAKER_01]: It's more so like the way that she is introduced is that she's like so adventurous, so wild, like she's here one minute, she's gone the next, she's jumping out of airplane.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like I just imagined her off on a safari somewhere, and when she's arrived, she feels quite boring, like she's not used to her best potential. [SPEAKER_01]: And then when she leaves her leaving monologue, I'm kind of like, oh, are we? [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, what is it? [SPEAKER_01]: 45th street?
[SPEAKER_01]: Like is this a Broadway play? [SPEAKER_01]: Don't wait too long, Luke. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, exactly. [SPEAKER_02]: We've talked about that. [SPEAKER_02]: I think a caller also called him recently. [SPEAKER_02]: Sometime in the last year on a GTC to be like, hey, what would have made Rachel more like the description that we get from her, get about her, rather.
[SPEAKER_02]: before she comes on the scene. [SPEAKER_02]: And I think that she just blends in a little too much and I think she was definitely meant to make too much of a splash considering it by the end of the season. [SPEAKER_02]: She was supposed to be gone. [SPEAKER_02]: But if she did, I think that she would have made more of an impression on all of us.
[SPEAKER_02]: Good, bad, or otherwise. [SPEAKER_02]: But we'll just a little more indifferent towards her. [SPEAKER_02]: I will say that like going through the show on revisited on Patreon, [SPEAKER_02]: really like made me think as an adult woman walking in to the diner on your own birthday and seeing the guy that you are with that you have so much history with who you know deep down in your bones.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, that's a thing for the local in owner in runner. [SPEAKER_00]: Not yet. [SPEAKER_02]: Not yet. [SPEAKER_02]: Almost. [SPEAKER_02]: And you see her [SPEAKER_02]: So like that is where like as a grown woman and someone I couldn't see that when I was 12. [SPEAKER_02]: I wasn't developed enough for that.
[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, oh, I feel bad thatfully. [SPEAKER_02]: I feel bad for Rachel. [SPEAKER_01]: I overall felt bad for her. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what it is about her. [SPEAKER_01]: Like we've talked about this lot that could have made her feel more of like the characterization that she was given.
[SPEAKER_01]: But there's something about that that I kind of almost find it interesting that she felt flat compared to her lower. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if that was the intention, that was the execution, but I think that she kind of fits in a bubble outside of the Blondrebad, because I don't think she is Blondrebad.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think she's, I'm brain okay, I don't know, I'm brain okay, I don't know. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm brain okay, yeah, all right, who do you have next, because I have Sherry. [SPEAKER_01]: I have Shane next but Sherry makes more sense because Sherry comes sooner. [SPEAKER_01]: Sherry is a shared part one and a shared part two.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because Sherry part one has light brown hair. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, Sherry Part 1 is not blonde, but they just make her blonde her and she gets more insufferable. [SPEAKER_02]: So, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, that's the biggest part in more blonde. [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I think initially in the like blonde or bad in Rishari, I think she starts off blonde because she is like characterizes this person who like really loves her job.
[SPEAKER_01]: She's really forward. [SPEAKER_01]: She's kind of [SPEAKER_01]: Totally. [SPEAKER_01]: And I think there's that someone is to her. [SPEAKER_01]: There's a real eagerness in her relationships specifically. [SPEAKER_01]: And I think because of course we are team Lorelei, we see like the way that Rory connects to Chris and we know that that's really what we want to happen because in Christopher returns and presenting Lorelei Gilmore, that's when [SPEAKER_01]: kind of comes full circle that like they weren't going to be together, but then he finally got his shit together from some other woman.
[SPEAKER_01]: So whoever it was going to be, we were going to hate her. [SPEAKER_01]: And so she walks in and she's basically like that hallmark girlfriend that the boyfriend leaves to go be with like the eras of a Christmas tree farm like [SPEAKER_01]: You know, like she's the high profile New York City girl who has a big job.
[SPEAKER_01]: She works for Laurel. [SPEAKER_01]: She's super organized. [SPEAKER_01]: She's very beautiful. [SPEAKER_01]: She's very shiny hair and a very smooth dress. [SPEAKER_01]: And she wears a wrinkle free fabrics, you know, like truly, truly the elite of the women. [SPEAKER_01]: So we hate her, despite the fact that she's just with Christopher.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I mean, she does come on quite strong to Lorelie about Rory, which is hard, and I think that's kind of like the only time when I feel like you are stepping really close to the sun here, like flying a little bit too close there. [SPEAKER_01]: Your Oreo makeup is gonna melt off if you don't step back.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: But I think of it that it's really just because I think her personality mixed with her desire to really shop in her relationship with Chris after everything he's heard about Lori. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think it's necessarily bad in that conversation that she doesn't really want to know Laura lie.
[SPEAKER_01]: Given the history that Chris and Laura lie have, I don't know how much of it she knows, [SPEAKER_01]: by Holdry Cards. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, she has put it down in a very honest. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, she is very blunt. [SPEAKER_02]: And I just didn't know that. [SPEAKER_02]: And the thing is, is that I rewatched this scene today.
[SPEAKER_02]: And I, because you know, when we covered this on Patreon, I was like, I hate this conversation. [SPEAKER_01]: You hated this. [SPEAKER_01]: If you were like it, it should have been lower. [SPEAKER_01]: We didn't, like, fight about this, but like, you were like, we kind of know sparkly hearted almost on it because you were like, no, I was like, well, I get it.
[SPEAKER_02]: I get it, but I don't get it. [SPEAKER_02]: So I have a lot of mixed feelings about it because she basically corners her in the kitchen and she's like, I just want you to know. [SPEAKER_02]: Like, verbatim, she says, I just want you to know that you should not feel like you need to get to know me at all.
[SPEAKER_02]: Just because Christopher and I are close doesn't mean that we need to be close or friends or anything for that matter. [SPEAKER_02]: And it's kind of like, oh, oh. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, and then she goes, but I do desperately want to get to no worry, ma'am. [SPEAKER_02]: I just heard the positioning of that is kind of like, I appreciate the sentiment of like, hey, I just want you to know, I'm like not looking to be your best friend.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's no expectations here. [SPEAKER_02]: No. [SPEAKER_01]: I would have found it interesting if she would have let it with, like, given your history, we don't need to be anything. [SPEAKER_02]: Like, and she does say that she's like, I know that this is a little awkward, because like, I know you and Chris have his face.
[SPEAKER_02]: And it was years ago. [SPEAKER_02]: And I'm like, it wasn't, it was actually, like, it was actually a lot of season. [SPEAKER_02]: It was actually so, like, also they literally kissed the last time he was here. [SPEAKER_02]: Just so you know, [SPEAKER_01]: They literally know that they actually kiss quite a bit when you guys are taking other.
[SPEAKER_01]: But it turns out it was like, it's exactly one season ago because I think it's like epic. [SPEAKER_01]: It was standing in the same kitchen saying I want to marry you. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this kitchen. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I was wearing I love Lucy pajamas. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I knew it was just for my kitchen.
[SPEAKER_02]: Last time I had a conversation like this in this kitchen. [SPEAKER_02]: He was asking me to marry him because we just attacked. [SPEAKER_02]: So [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, you know what I mean? [SPEAKER_02]: And that's on Chris. [SPEAKER_02]: That's not on either one of that.
[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, it is the reality that like from her vantage point, their ancient history, but they share a daughter together and so sure he's like, look, you don't need to know me, but I desperately want to know your daughter. [SPEAKER_02]: And then, more like, yeah, I understand she's great kid.
[SPEAKER_02]: And Sherry says, and that's okay with you. [SPEAKER_02]: that like I want to get you know her and loralized like yes and she goes okay I'm so glad so like she is a dissents asking for permission and her lungs to get to know who the gatekeeper is yeah absolutely however speaking to the fact that like loralized really is the mouthpiece for how the writers want us to feel about a character sometimes I do think that that applies here with Sherry because in the scene later in the episode when Chris comes over and he's like so what do you think about Sherry and she's like [SPEAKER_02]: She's nice and he's like, okay, like what do you guys talk about and she said you guys had a really good conversation in the kitchen.
[SPEAKER_02]: She's like, oh, well, if that's what she said and he's like, okay, well, what happened? [SPEAKER_02]: And she's like, well, she basically said the like we don't need to know each other and he was like, oh, she didn't mention that. [SPEAKER_02]: She's like so I just want it to be clear that like by the very facts that were exist, I'm in the picture and so like that made me like okay, I'm not over analyzing this I am like this is how lower life perceived this conversation as well and how the writer is one of the audience to perceive the conversation because [SPEAKER_02]: Like I did not like that conversation.
[SPEAKER_02]: I am in the picture. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to be here. [SPEAKER_02]: You're not going to edge me out of this. [SPEAKER_02]: I am involved. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, which like of course she is like I feel like there's something she's like of course you are and she's like okay. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, you're your girlfriend didn't really make it seem like [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's giving like, um, it's brace bridge when they ask her to come for the holidays and she was kind of like very hesitant to say anything about it to her because she didn't want to lose her for the holidays.
[SPEAKER_01]: She goes so far as to call Sherry her stupid stuff on there. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: You're wicking. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so like I think there's that like element of it that it's like fearful on behalf of Laura like I still feel like it's like a little bit I feel like a little bit one foot on both sides of it that [SPEAKER_01]: I definitely think that her approach to it was so direct that it was almost off-put.
[SPEAKER_01]: To direct, to direct, like, it was off-putting in that regard, but like, I understand. [SPEAKER_01]: What I ever come at it in that direction, I'd be like, no, I want to get to know your daughter. [SPEAKER_01]: And however you fit into that, I will let you decide. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, I don't want to, like, add you out.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want you to make, make you feel like you are absent from this. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, we are nothing, but like, I do understand what she means. [SPEAKER_01]: fearful scared i'm kind of scared sherry if i'm not sherry oh yeah she's in for him and she's very intimidating and i think that's part of it is like she's a beautiful like gorgeous successful woman who's dating your daughter's father and i don't think so like ever brace herself for christ to be with a woman like that [SPEAKER_02]: No, understandably so.
[SPEAKER_01]: Especially the woman that he got a shit together for. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so I think that that's really where like the main part of it comes in. [SPEAKER_01]: It's like she's like listening to the squalping like, oh my gosh, like yeah, not only did he get his shit together for you now you don't want to get to know me, but you want to get to know my daughter because you guys are going to take my daughter and run off and have Christmas with her.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, well, it's running. [SPEAKER_02]: There's yeah there. [SPEAKER_02]: I totally understand, and it comes from a very complicated place of both like still having like harboring feelings for Christopher and also watching him get his shit together for someone that wasn't her. [SPEAKER_02]: And also her daughter's involved.
[SPEAKER_02]: There's like a very, very strong cocktail of emotions there that I think anybody would feel a certain way about. [SPEAKER_01]: And it's all a build up. [SPEAKER_01]: This is all just like tension building and building and building until you get to the kitchen at the Gilmors, we love a kitchen convo.
[SPEAKER_01]: The kitchen at the Gilmors when Emily says it should have been you, which is like the title, it should have been lower a lie to end up with Chris. [SPEAKER_02]: So I think that's in purposes, I get that. [SPEAKER_02]: It should have been you. [SPEAKER_02]: Like you should have been the one he was making all these sacrifices in his life.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: She should have been the one too, but it's like it's so easy to compare yourself to this L'Oreal marketing model. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: She worked in marketing if that feels right. [SPEAKER_01]: She's worked for L'Oreal. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think he says something and she's either the head of sales, head of marketing for L'Oreal, Cosmetics, something like that.
[SPEAKER_02]: Something there. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: nobody's in and that hearing that out loud from your own mother you already have a very deeply complicated relationship with those. [SPEAKER_02]: That can really like mess with you and I think also further villainizes Sherry when I'm just calling that woman.
[SPEAKER_01]: I know, and I think that when she says that woman, it's blonde. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, yeah, it's that, like, we just don't like her because she's with Christopher. [SPEAKER_01]: Versus, like, I think the conversation in the kitchen, I think it's kind of like one foot in one foot out. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, this is not great.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is like, you were giving us reason to not like you because of the way that you're treating Lorelie, and in turn, treating Lorelie kind of like, [SPEAKER_01]: a commodity a little bit, you know, like, this is kind of that moment when maybe Laura, I should have stepped in as Anna and Ardini and is like, no, you don't get to play fast and loose with my kid.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I get to decide how this works. [SPEAKER_01]: I would like for you to get to know her, but on my terms. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: And so I think it's really interesting because we just watched on Patreon yesterday. [SPEAKER_02]: Super cool party people, so we just got this, like, refreshed, refresh her on Anna and Ardini and why she's deeply vilanized within the fandom, which we didn't entire episode about, I think, last year.
[SPEAKER_02]: And it's interesting to juxtapose this scene in this moment and share his introduction into the story and how Laura like handles it with Anna. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because I do think it should have been more like, oh gosh, more like how Anna handled it, but like different. [SPEAKER_02]: Interestingly, I, well, it's inherently different because Laura was not a cherry.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's not like cherry. [SPEAKER_02]: No. [SPEAKER_01]: And I know that's the idea. [SPEAKER_02]: It's like that Anna had given grace to Laura like the way Laura liked it with cherry, even though cherry was way more intense. [SPEAKER_02]: Also like she was telling her like things are getting serious with me and Christopher.
[SPEAKER_02]: And it's like, and that's what I mean. [SPEAKER_02]: It's like, they were engaged the way that Laura and Lou quer. [SPEAKER_01]: But if Anna did what she did to Laura lie, [SPEAKER_01]: at the stage that Sherry and Chris are, that would have made sense to me. [SPEAKER_01]: I love more songs.
[SPEAKER_01]: I love this. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: So by the time you guys get to that serious point, she feels really comfortable. [SPEAKER_01]: But let's slow it down. [SPEAKER_01]: You guys aren't going to the mall tonight. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, or the movies, or wherever they ended up going, I forget where they were going, that she's right in the dinner.
[SPEAKER_01]: But I think that for the most part, [SPEAKER_01]: The conversation around her is just quote unquote blonde like she's just with Christopher but there is a part of that conversation where it's like you've overstepped now I'm totally you're not going to be the villain but you've oversept into bad yeah you're straddling black blonde and bad yeah you're not both you're not both blonde and bad [SPEAKER_01]: you're just sin both camps.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, maybe inherently makes you blonde and bad. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm just going to say, I think it does. [SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, well, good. [SPEAKER_02]: And we can evaluate that as we get deeper into her story because the reality is she inches closer and closer and closer and closer to being a villain as the story unfolds.
[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't think so. [SPEAKER_02]: I do. [SPEAKER_02]: I think that we should sing, but we, I don't feel like we get it really until season five. [SPEAKER_02]: And at that point, she's only a discussed character and no longer a physical entity. [SPEAKER_01]: See, I think that, so the way that I framed it, I did Sherry Part 1, Sherry Part 2, [SPEAKER_01]: And I think that Sherry Part Two is almost exclusively all blonde because when we get Sherry in season two, it seems like when we get back with Christopher.
[SPEAKER_01]: We don't see Sherry, but we hear about Sherry, and it seems like they are done from what we just understand. [SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_01]: Laura and Chris are getting back together and then we find out the Sherry's pregnant. [SPEAKER_01]: And immediately you want to be [SPEAKER_01]: annoyed, but you're annoyed at Chris.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like that's where all of your anger lies. [SPEAKER_01]: Totally comes back and haunted leg and is at the Gilmore's and is like desperately trying to get Laura like to talk to him, Emily makes him leave. [SPEAKER_01]: That's all Chris. [SPEAKER_01]: And then when we get to take the double eggs in the baby shower, I feel like that's Sherry just like trying to be [SPEAKER_01]: friendly but in her like very overly direct way.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think in the same way like that's too direct like it wasn't the kitchen. [SPEAKER_01]: I think she's just being- Yeah, she's definitely more loved in both ways. [SPEAKER_01]: She is way more blind and in that episode. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but she's pregnant. [SPEAKER_01]: She's with the guy that Laura live was supposed to be with.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't think she's necessarily doing anything wrong by thinking her because she thought that like he was like one foot out the door as she says, but she doesn't know what was transpiring. [SPEAKER_01]: She doesn't know. [SPEAKER_01]: We know and we know that we're supposed to not like her because of what we know about Laura lie and her storyline because Laura lie doesn't like her, but like I think that that's what steps back into blonde for her is like she's just with.
[SPEAKER_01]: The guy that Laura, I wanted to be with who was like she was imagining her future was she was excited to tell her parents Because finally she was doing something that they were going to approve of and be a family and Sherry ruined it, but it wasn't Sherry. [SPEAKER_01]: It was Chris. [SPEAKER_01]: It was Chris's choice.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and so I think in that she's still blonde and then when she and dear Emily and Richard when she's giving birth. [SPEAKER_01]: She's way the bondage she's ever been. [SPEAKER_01]: She's the blonde She's ever been and I don't know if the actress I forget her name [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, she I don't know she's like doing another project, but she is platinum blonde.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god. [SPEAKER_01]: And trying to soon to be not because she's having a baby right now. [SPEAKER_01]: And I just think again, she's just blonde. [SPEAKER_01]: She's just trying to like outweigh her personality with her circumstance because she just wants to work. [SPEAKER_01]: And Gigi didn't fit into her schedule.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's quite funny. [SPEAKER_01]: And I don't think it's a reason to like villainize her. [SPEAKER_01]: But at the end of the day, it's all Christopher's choices. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, why worry was the only one who could show up. [SPEAKER_01]: Really just speaks to Sherry's selection of friends.
[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I just think again, it's Christopher. [SPEAKER_01]: So I think since the beginning, it's she's startling blonde and bad. [SPEAKER_01]: I think in season three, she's just blonde. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I agree. [SPEAKER_01]: It's really we're just led to dislike her because of the circumstances and because Laura Lie doesn't because she ruined.
[SPEAKER_01]: She's the face of ruining Laura Lie's life. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but then season five. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, all villain. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we're meant to just like, Sherry. [SPEAKER_02]: But again, she becomes a conversation point. [SPEAKER_02]: We never see her again. [SPEAKER_02]: We never see her again.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: And then, of course, in season 7, when all of a sudden, she wants to come back into Gigi's life, it's kind of like, OK. What? [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: At that point, I don't think we're necessarily rooting for Laura lying, Chris. [SPEAKER_02]: Maybe some people were.
[SPEAKER_02]: Their relationship does seem like people. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, who? [SPEAKER_02]: Some what's down to you. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and if you were rooting for Laura lying, Chris and Susan said, I hope you're in your car and you're rooting for her right now. [SPEAKER_02]: But I do think she is more villainized from like a storytelling standpoint in that moment because she's meant to be.
[SPEAKER_02]: She's not like no one's holding her accountable physically because she's not physically here. [SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean? [SPEAKER_02]: It's like, she's just throwing more wrenches into Chris and Laura Lies dynamic. [SPEAKER_02]: But it's not becoming a single father. [SPEAKER_01]: Which, I mean, of course, like she is the villain.
[SPEAKER_01]: causing the problem, like causing the conflict for Chris. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's quite rude to just get up and leave and leave your child behind. [SPEAKER_01]: No, like, no conversation, just leave a note, you move to Paris. [SPEAKER_01]: I think she got in your job. [SPEAKER_01]: There's what it was, or was moving for her job, I forget exactly, because by the time season seven rolls around, she's with her yoga instructor, and she's relaxed, but there's like part of me that's like, yeah, someone needed to put Chris.
[SPEAKER_01]: in the line. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, someone needed to hold Chris accountable. [SPEAKER_02]: And so we're all intents and purposes. [SPEAKER_02]: Maybe Sherry isn't the villain in that regard. [SPEAKER_02]: And it's just like time for Chris to step up and be a dad. [SPEAKER_01]: I know that's the thing is like we had no idea what the relationship was like it clearly was not working out because obviously Chris had no idea how to take care of this child like at all.
[SPEAKER_01]: So there was like a level two out of like I have no idea what Sherry's experience was, but they didn't give us to give it to us. [SPEAKER_01]: So we didn't need to know. [SPEAKER_01]: And so we [SPEAKER_01]: But if I had more information, the only reason I will keep it bad is because you love Gigi.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, just love Gigi. [SPEAKER_01]: Your daughter is just like, come on. [SPEAKER_01]: Leaving Chris, like, I lived just a note. [SPEAKER_01]: Unfortunately, I, and I got it. [SPEAKER_01]: You saved yourself, but it's the Gigi part. [SPEAKER_01]: Totally. [SPEAKER_01]: Chris, blonde, Gigi, bad.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, totally. [SPEAKER_01]: Totally. [SPEAKER_01]: I think I can get by that. [SPEAKER_01]: But do you like, do you share a character? [SPEAKER_01]: Like are the parts of sharey that like when she's introduced or When she is continued to be talked about or comes back into the storyline.
[SPEAKER_01]: Do you like her as a character? [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, I know there are parts of her that like as a woman. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm like how yeah girl like get it [SPEAKER_02]: Good for you. [SPEAKER_02]: You were like tough and hard to feel alive. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, love. [SPEAKER_02]: Love your wrinkle list dress.
[SPEAKER_02]: She's beautiful. [SPEAKER_02]: She knows what she wants. [SPEAKER_02]: She literally told Christopher if you don't get your shit together. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm gone. [SPEAKER_02]: And I find that very respectable and commendable. [SPEAKER_02]: I also like kind of badass that like, he, he made good on it.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: You said they should together. [SPEAKER_02]: Boy, did you have her in a lot of ways? [SPEAKER_02]: I do find her to be, yeah, kind of about us, but at the same time, it's very hard as someone who's been watching the show for, you know, 25 plus years to not root for my girl, Laura Li, and she really is meant to be the antithesis of who Laura Li is.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: In some ways, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: She's a lot closer to her hair color for sure. [SPEAKER_01]: Have you read book lovers by Emily Henry? [SPEAKER_01]: Not yet. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you would, I love it. [SPEAKER_01]: But I feel like Sherry fits more into the Nora, like the main character of that, where like she loves her peloton.
[SPEAKER_01]: She loves her high profile job. [SPEAKER_01]: She loves working. [SPEAKER_01]: And she doesn't want to take a break because she like is just so focused on her career. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, all of her thoughts break up with her because of it. [SPEAKER_01]: And so I think that she kind of fits kind of into that camp.
[SPEAKER_01]: Nora has like much softer heart than we ever see of Sherry, but it's because Sherry's not the main character. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, she sure is on the close to be a show we're sharing some in character. [SPEAKER_02]: It's so funny that you bring that up because for one of these girlies, I was like, I'm not watching a show where you're the main character and like, I guess I should have done it for all of them.
[SPEAKER_02]: I guess I would watch a share show. [SPEAKER_02]: The sharing show. [SPEAKER_02]: Would you watch the Rachel show? [SPEAKER_02]: Probably. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, because I'm not in the sense of adventures. [SPEAKER_02]: And she's like Indiana Jones, that's the thing is I picture her as the female version of Indiana Jones.
[SPEAKER_02]: That's literally so bad you said that because that's exactly what I envision. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes. [SPEAKER_02]: When I think about much that. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, I know. [SPEAKER_01]: We've talked about Harrison Ford a lot over the last couple of me and you know I haven't wanted to watch shrinking because I watched the first couple episodes of my brothers like oh, it's hilarious It's quite sad and I was like what they keep being like no, just keep watching it.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's good. [SPEAKER_01]: It's funny. [SPEAKER_01]: I've heard it's a grand show. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah [SPEAKER_01]: I've heard that, too, and Kelly Bishop shows up as his wife. [SPEAKER_01]: X, Y, for some wife, yeah, something like that. [SPEAKER_01]: And so apparently, I don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: And apparently, Harrison Ford is one of the best parts.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, well, I'm on a Harrison Ford era, so I'm on his wife. [SPEAKER_01]: And I think you're looking right there. [SPEAKER_01]: But Rachel, this is Rachel Jones. [SPEAKER_02]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_02]: That's the thing. [SPEAKER_02]: It's like, it's talked about as if she's the female version of Indiana Jones.
[SPEAKER_02]: So it's kind of like, I'd love to see what kind of partner she ended up with, someone who maybe she could go on. [SPEAKER_02]: Those adventures with. [SPEAKER_02]: But it'd be Harrison Ford. [SPEAKER_02]: Maybe? [SPEAKER_02]: I would be fine. [SPEAKER_02]: I think quite fine. [SPEAKER_02]: But Sherry's life definitely seems like one that is exciting and its own right.
[SPEAKER_02]: And I guess you could say the same about Rachel. [SPEAKER_02]: It's just not Lorelei. [SPEAKER_01]: It's not. [SPEAKER_01]: Though I show about like the 2000s beauty industry starring Sherry, where she ends up with this guy who lives in Connecticut. [SPEAKER_03]: Hmm. [SPEAKER_01]: I am.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then like seeing her version of like the other side of did they break up? [SPEAKER_01]: Did they not? [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: Very true. [SPEAKER_01]: And then she ups and leaves her family and moves to Paris. [SPEAKER_01]: Sharey and yeah, I mean, it's actually all Paris. [SPEAKER_02]: This is quite exciting.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm about to, she is a lot of excitement in her backstory. [SPEAKER_02]: That's true. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay. [SPEAKER_02]: Let's talk about our cotton candy princess. [SPEAKER_02]: Our girl Shane, the girl who kind of like Shane did a lot of this, yeah, yes, one if there's just this for anyone There's a lot for anyone It is it is our girl Shane.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think she is blot she is the most blonde of all of these girls Like she fits into the blonde category like the most cleanly There is nothing bad about her batter blonde. [SPEAKER_01]: She's 100% blonde [SPEAKER_02]: I actually disagree with you. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to know Sparkle for you on that.
[SPEAKER_02]: I think that if anybody fits into the blonde category more than like any of the other women that we're going to talk about today. [SPEAKER_02]: It's Bobby from season seven because she's true. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Nothing wrong. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_02]: She just has legs.
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, but with continuity change. [SPEAKER_01]: She just has legs. [SPEAKER_01]: She's just a leg. [SPEAKER_01]: She just has legs. [SPEAKER_02]: She just has legs. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: With Shane. [SPEAKER_02]: I wouldn't put Bobby above that, but I would put Bobby above Shane.
[SPEAKER_02]: Shane is next for me because I agree with you. [SPEAKER_02]: She truly didn't do anything wrong, but she is really snarky and snippy. [SPEAKER_02]: Like in general, she like has a tune on her. [SPEAKER_02]: And I know that it is pulled out by Rory, but like it does seem like that's her nature.
[SPEAKER_02]: Like when and I'm okay with it. [UNKNOWN]: Okay. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I just mean to say that like I understand why people might not be in dear to her, you know what I mean? [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think you have to like her, but I don't think it makes her fit into the bad category. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, I think it's like that sort of thing of like, she's just a teenage girl.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I think if we're going to let Jess and Dean just be teenage boys, we get to think the same of Shane, because like when we meet Shane, her introduction is like iconic. [SPEAKER_01]: What is she doing? [SPEAKER_01]: Making out with Jess? [SPEAKER_02]: at the lazy days of summer and of summer madness festival and that's the thing her introduction made me hate her instantly because every girl wanted to be her.
[SPEAKER_02]: We all wanted to be Shane with just like her QD short haircut. [SPEAKER_02]: I know. [SPEAKER_02]: Like who QD jeans and her little ping-tang top. [SPEAKER_01]: Honestly, I don't know, at the end of summer madness festival, what could be better, like absolutely nothing. [SPEAKER_01]: And so I think that that to me is like really where her origin of dislike, disdain comes from, is because she's blonde, because blonde in the sense of like, Rory does not like this girl.
[SPEAKER_01]: because Rory feels like Jess is hers. [SPEAKER_01]: She kissed Jess and therefore Jess is hers. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: But I love when Jess takes her to task on it. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: In Haunting Legs. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: What a fantastic episode.
[SPEAKER_01]: So good. [SPEAKER_01]: And like it's true, like she never called him. [SPEAKER_01]: She never wrote him. [SPEAKER_01]: She never contacted him after she said, not to tell anyone about their kiss. [SPEAKER_01]: So I don't think she's allowed to like see Shane as a villain. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, of course, of course you can.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you know, he's he's kissing a guy that you like. [SPEAKER_01]: You can be mad at Shane too, Tara. [SPEAKER_01]: You like Jess, you know, like, you know, you both can be upset. [SPEAKER_01]: And you can be upset, but she's not the villain in the story. [SPEAKER_02]: No, I agree with you.
[SPEAKER_02]: She is truly the victim of circumstances. [SPEAKER_02]: Like she's the queen of victim of circumstances. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: One hundred percent. [SPEAKER_01]: You had this guy in the palm of your hand, all you had to do was say by to Dean, and tell Jess, you wanted to be with him.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you have not done such, you have a boyfriend, and he's seeing someone too. [SPEAKER_01]: What's the problem? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's the problem, where you like him and then for it's a blonde problem. [SPEAKER_01]: Totally. [SPEAKER_01]: When I bring Lorelight into the like confirmation of we don't like this girl is like I genuinely cannot imagine like being the same ages Lorelight when this happens that a teenage girl comes into the diner kind of disregards everyone.
[SPEAKER_01]: to see her boyfriend, which is so lower like Gilmore of her to do, to just like walk through and not pay attention to anyone around her. [SPEAKER_01]: Like remember when they were going back packing and they like almost like took out the town trooper door, because they had places to be, that's so them.
[SPEAKER_01]: She walks in to mac with Jess and well I says, that girl's a freak. [SPEAKER_01]: Yep. [SPEAKER_01]: That was a lie. [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, aren't an adult. [SPEAKER_01]: I would never look at a teenage girl and be like, oh, that goes a freak. [SPEAKER_01]: Out loud to the people around me.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, oh, she did something free. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, showed up in a scary mask, you know? [SPEAKER_01]: In the middle of the day. [SPEAKER_01]: And scared me. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know that girl. [SPEAKER_01]: That girl's freak. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't even know that I would say it then.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean that girl's scary girl's scare me. [SPEAKER_01]: Watch out for that girl. [SPEAKER_01]: You know. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, on the Facebook page watch out for scary mask girl at the diner. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you know. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so I just that part of it. [SPEAKER_01]: But we have confirmation that our girl, or I like also does not like this girl.
[SPEAKER_01]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_01]: So, but hopefully when she's at the beauty supply shop, is she a good employee? [SPEAKER_01]: No. [SPEAKER_01]: Does that seem like a hard job? [SPEAKER_01]: No. [SPEAKER_01]: Is it a boring job? [SPEAKER_01]: Probably. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I know. [SPEAKER_02]: And she does say to Justin the phone, like, I'm always so nice to you and you're so mean to me.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's not, it's not so horrible. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, she's just a cute girl who's not that great of her job, who probably has other strengths. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And he's being mean to her. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, she does have like a Losey fair kind of too, to her. [SPEAKER_02]: She does.
[SPEAKER_02]: She does. [SPEAKER_01]: But you know what I mean? [SPEAKER_01]: If like the guy that you liked was being mean to you and you weren't mean to him, you would have, I would have an attitude all the time. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And then this girl walks in and it's just rude to me.
[SPEAKER_01]: Meanwhile, I'm inventing words and she's moody. [SPEAKER_01]: She can't, she's sticking to the dictionary. [SPEAKER_01]: What do we, what a freak. [SPEAKER_01]: What a freak. [SPEAKER_01]: That grows up freak. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's a lody, there's a bloat, there's a bloated, there's not bloaty.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's, I mean, interesting thing is if we're going to give, worry, if we're going to give agency to all of these people to just be teenagers, if I were a teenage girl, I would have, and I was, I would have hated Jane. [SPEAKER_01]: I would have hated her. [SPEAKER_01]: You can hate, that's what I'm saying.
[SPEAKER_01]: You can hate her. [SPEAKER_01]: You can be upset her. [SPEAKER_02]: I will not do any of those things. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, not as a grown woman. [SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean? [SPEAKER_01]: Like, go to the giver crown giver slash giver like a sage green dress. [SPEAKER_01]: Is that what Taylor wanted her to wear?
[SPEAKER_01]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_01]: I think that would wash shane out. [SPEAKER_01]: Giver a pink cotton candy tool totally extravaganza or against a situation. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, I'm just like, you can't convince me to be mad at this girl because like, [SPEAKER_01]: her boyfriend's being mean to her.
[SPEAKER_01]: Her like, situation chip. [SPEAKER_01]: What do you think? [SPEAKER_02]: And you also, like, we see this. [SPEAKER_02]: Just says to Luke, like, I don't care about her. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't even know her last name. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, I feel like, what? [SPEAKER_02]: Like, he does do something to the effect of like, if it makes you feel better, she, like, doesn't care about me.
[SPEAKER_02]: There's she treats me like crap. [SPEAKER_02]: And I treat her like crap. [SPEAKER_02]: And I'm like, okay, I don't know if that's an unrealized kind of moment or I think it is. [SPEAKER_01]: If you think about being a teenage girl and you think about not caring about something, [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's true.
[SPEAKER_01]: Everything I felt very deeply about. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so maybe she's different. [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe she's not like other girls. [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe she doesn't have deep feelings, but I don't agree. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think so. [SPEAKER_01]: She probably has very deep feelings. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, and then later on, when she's on the sidewalk and calls for a freak, that girl's a freak, I agree.
[SPEAKER_01]: I agree. [SPEAKER_01]: You were so rude to me. [SPEAKER_01]: You came into my store with a mask on. [SPEAKER_01]: What does she say to her? [SPEAKER_01]: It's like how paint dries is probably interesting or fascinating to you. [SPEAKER_02]: It's probably fascinating to you. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, oh, rude.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I know she's not helping her. [SPEAKER_01]: But like she's not, she's probably not good at her job. [SPEAKER_01]: She probably doesn't want to be there. [SPEAKER_01]: People come into the beauty supply to shop. [SPEAKER_01]: Sorry, it's all the beauty store that often. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I mean, she just has a little bit of a hardness to her in her like demeanor, which I think is what maybe turns people off from her. [SPEAKER_02]: I think it adds to like the, it adds insult to injury on on the fact that like we're all made to not like her. [SPEAKER_02]: We're of course she's not to like her.
[SPEAKER_01]: She doesn't have like a halo above her head. [SPEAKER_01]: Definitely no one is perceiving her as such. [SPEAKER_01]: Whereas Roy is the angel off on top of the Christmas tree of stars, [SPEAKER_01]: So like there is that like juxtaposition. [SPEAKER_01]: She is kind of like a bad attitude with blonde hair.
[SPEAKER_01]: Rory doesn't have a bad attitude and has brown hair, but actually she does have a bad attitude. [SPEAKER_01]: So there and getting to the last of Shane the last time we see Shane. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, [SPEAKER_01]: It's like honestly the most heartbreaking thing of all. [SPEAKER_01]: It's like she's being forced to sit at the dance marathon all day just to make someone else jealous, potential and like she's there when it ends at like 5.30 in the morning.
[SPEAKER_01]: Imagine your boyfriend, who's maybe not your boyfriend, who apparently doesn't care about you at all, has invited you here, and for some reason you're there, and you're watching this happen, and then Deen starts telling it you, and bringing you a chain of messages, listening to this because it's so damn obvious.
[SPEAKER_02]: I know that's how she finds out that her man is into somebody else. [SPEAKER_01]: What she probably already knew, which is already quite hard. [SPEAKER_01]: What you have about our tune, if he was being quite mean to you, but you still liked him and you were still with him, but he was into someone else.
[SPEAKER_01]: And you like actually got broken up with via Dean. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And then your boyfriend came over after he saw where we were going on the bridge and he has something to take care of and it's you. [SPEAKER_01]: And it's you, you're the something. [SPEAKER_02]: It starts with Mafia lately.
[SPEAKER_02]: All right, patient. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, a RIP chain and I just, there's just nothing about me like I will go, you know, I'm not, I'm not a comment warrior anymore when I was on TikTok. [SPEAKER_01]: I like would always like respond to all my comments that I was like, no, think about it from this perspective.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm kind of not really about that anymore. [SPEAKER_01]: I kind of like to see what other people think and what their opinions are. [SPEAKER_01]: If someone starts to hate on Shane, I'm getting on that keyboard. [SPEAKER_01]: We are type and fast about this girl. [SPEAKER_01]: Even to you.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, even to me. [SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no, no, no, no. [SPEAKER_01]: I think because she was so villainized and because we were led to hate her Because she was blonde because the Gilmar girls didn't like like her because the writers were trying to make us not like her because she was keeping worry and Just a part there was so many reasons not to like her so many reasons that they wanted to put her on the bad category That it's like I'm going in even harder.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like blonde blonde. [SPEAKER_01]: You could you're giving her all blonde reasons not to like her [SPEAKER_01]: Give me one actually bad reason to not like this girl. [SPEAKER_01]: The only person who was allowed to dislike her is the owner of Star's Hollow Beauty. [SPEAKER_01]: Who ultimately fires her in a higher church.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, maybe she can just stop showing up. [SPEAKER_01]: Because she moved over back to the other side of Star's Hollow where she hates the Gilmore girls. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: She probably writes about it all the time in her journal. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I would love to reach change, journal.
[SPEAKER_01]: So my last question for you about Shane. [SPEAKER_01]: I haven't actually asked you any questions. [SPEAKER_01]: I've asked him. [SPEAKER_01]: He's several questions. [SPEAKER_01]: Is would you watch the Shane show? [SPEAKER_02]: No, I wouldn't. [SPEAKER_02]: You wouldn't know. [SPEAKER_02]: I wouldn't watch the Shane show.
[SPEAKER_02]: Because here's the thing, is that I totally agree with you that she is like the epitome of blonde. [SPEAKER_02]: She's the epitome of victim of circumstance because Jess literally was only with her because he was heartbroken over Rory Gilmour and he wanted to make her jealous. [SPEAKER_02]: One, yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: So why don't you come to the end of summer madness festival and make out with her against a tree where you know exactly We're just gonna be exactly how to count event guy. [SPEAKER_02]: No, no exactly and I think that could be lumped into that's when I was trying to get you I know have you and That sucks so I said justice for shame.
[SPEAKER_02]: This is a blemish on just as resume, but I Still [SPEAKER_02]: I still don't necessarily like, you know, even though I, I don't think she was a villain, I still don't like her, like her personality. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's what I mean. [SPEAKER_02]: So like, no, we wouldn't be bestie.
[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe we would. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Followed question. [SPEAKER_01]: Would you watch the Shane Netflix documentary? [SPEAKER_02]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: 100 percent. [SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_02]: I need to know the before during and after and that that actress was also on survivor.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh my, do you remember you saying that? [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: So like she's impressive. [SPEAKER_02]: So yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Just the vision of Shane leaving stars Halloween going on survivor. [SPEAKER_01]: That's what I want to have happened to her. [SPEAKER_01]: Or like a where is she now like Shane's missing and like that's her Netflix documentary, the like we hear from Jess We hear from Taylor Doe see we hear from the stars all the beauty supply owner like she just disappeared one day You want to make it on your memories so bad You are about so But not so many topics to cover [SPEAKER_01]: I just want to do it about small, intimate disputes, just run of the mill things, normal situations.
[SPEAKER_01]: I want to hear from everyone, I want to hear, you know, I'm not going to discuss there's several interiors life, though, of life situations she has told me about. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, okay, I need the documentary and then like the end of the last episode is like [SPEAKER_01]: I've got it in my mind, but if you ever tell me a story about something in your life about someone else, oh, you best believe in my mind.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like stories building, documentary, documentary, it's true. [SPEAKER_01]: So I would love, would you watch story? [SPEAKER_01]: I was going to say would you watch the Shane show? [SPEAKER_01]: I would watch this Shane show, you know, just because like I [SPEAKER_01]: After like being her biggest supporter at this point to turn around and be like, I wouldn't watch the Shane show because like the antithesis of everything that I've said thus far.
[SPEAKER_01]: So I would watch the Shane show when I put Shane spin off. [SPEAKER_02]: Like when we say the Shane show, the Rachel show, the Sherry show. [SPEAKER_02]: It's like this is the spin off. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, this is serious. [SPEAKER_01]: I would watch the Shane show. [SPEAKER_01]: I would be way more invested in the Shane story.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like the documentary version of like where she now. [SPEAKER_01]: Where did she go? [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, con candy Shane. [SPEAKER_02]: So yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: That's really interesting. [SPEAKER_02]: I would find it very interesting that like her version of the story is like, just told me he loved me.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I see. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, see, that's what I'm saying of like, okay, Jess, and I met here. [SPEAKER_01]: And then we flashed the ice cream shop where they met. [SPEAKER_01]: And the owner is talking to us. [SPEAKER_01]: He has surveillance footage. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the tubes are meeting.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: It was like, hey, that's all it was. [SPEAKER_02]: their conversations are very short, yeah, more or less. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: So I would definitely be very dedicated to that. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I can tell. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, next on our list, too, also is arguably like very much a victim of circumstance is Lindsay.
[SPEAKER_02]: And also someone who kind of sparked this conversation of Justice for Lindsay recently, there have been a lot of interviews between my love and to Melia and Ariel Kebel, who played Jasmyriano and Lindsay, [SPEAKER_02]: respectively, and Easter, Lindsay Lister. [SPEAKER_02]: It's very, very interesting pairing.
[SPEAKER_02]: Are we supposed to move together? [SPEAKER_02]: I think so, and so like they've been doing these interviews together, and they've been talking about Gilmore Girls, and how they had very limited interaction on the show together. [SPEAKER_02]: But one of the videos that I saw recently, though, was Milo asking Ariel about like how she felt about her character marrying Dean, [SPEAKER_02]: and I love that for her, love that about her.
[SPEAKER_02]: But she was talking about how she felt like they were too young to get married. [SPEAKER_02]: This was her first on screen kiss. [SPEAKER_02]: Like there were a lot of things that, you know, were happening there. [SPEAKER_02]: And what she really felt from the audience was that like they hated her for a really long time.
[SPEAKER_02]: And [SPEAKER_02]: There's only recently been a resurgence of justice for Lindsey, which is interesting because I felt that way in 2021 when I started building my TikTok and a lot of that was rooted in the fact that Dean was an absolute demon to his wife at the beginning of season five and it was like a demon and [SPEAKER_02]: Like Lindsey deserved better, but this is the example I will give for our temperature check as an audience and how we feel as a character heavily hinges on the introduction of this character and Lindsey's introduction to us in face off.
[SPEAKER_02]: which is at the ice gating ring, is ice ice baby. [SPEAKER_02]: And it's not just because we're ice gating ring. [SPEAKER_02]: It is because ice, ice, ring. [SPEAKER_02]: It is because she is so uncomfortable with Rory. [SPEAKER_02]: And so like, I don't want to say rude, but she's very stand-offish to Rory.
[SPEAKER_02]: Very stand-offish, very awkward, very awkward. [SPEAKER_02]: And we have no idea why. [SPEAKER_02]: And so instantly, she's villain. [SPEAKER_02]: Instantly, Lindsay's villain, because she's being like rude to our girl, Rory, [SPEAKER_01]: Well, first though, Lane is like, oh, maybe it's because of like everyone thinks that you're stuck up now because you go to that private school and she's like, people think that and she's like, like, listing off people.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so like, we think that maybe it's like just her perception for you, which makes me like her, like, immediately I'm like, oh, and then when I see she's dating Dean and that's why I'm like, okay, I like you more than I did just a minute ago, like, of course because you're like, oh, okay, I get it.
[SPEAKER_02]: I get it. [SPEAKER_02]: It's it's uncomfortable, but like, I don't know. [SPEAKER_02]: As I become a grown adult, I'm like, why are we disliking our current partner's exes? [SPEAKER_02]: Unless he did something super wrong to them, which I guess were he dead. [SPEAKER_02]: But I don't think that's what I just didn't like her.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, if you are Lindsey, [SPEAKER_01]: dating Dean, and you hear about how they broke up the last, like how Dean broke up in his last relationship. [SPEAKER_01]: She was really into the guy that she's now dating and just wouldn't break up with me and was just so obsessed with that guy the whole time, like we were together towards the end, to the point that I had to confront her about it in front of everyone, and she's still denied it.
[SPEAKER_01]: And now to get together. [SPEAKER_01]: I would like kind of look at that girl and be like, hi, like I wouldn't be so like I like I truly just can't be rude to someone in person, but like I would have been in high school and so that's where I give Lindsey her. [SPEAKER_02]: I give Lindsey a lot of grace here because that's uncomfortable.
[SPEAKER_02]: I also probably would have felt a certain type of way towards my current boyfriend's new girlfriend. [SPEAKER_02]: ex girlfriend rather. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, but at this point, Dean of Warrior Friends, like their friends, and that may also be very intimidating, is that like, that's not great.
[SPEAKER_01]: My new boyfriend is friends with his ex girlfriend, but my new boyfriend also wants to get back together with his ex. [SPEAKER_01]: Do you think that's not, I don't think so, but like, it's not comfortable knowing that like how things ended, that like they're now friends again, that like, like, [SPEAKER_01]: She kind of has a hold on like all of these guys and one of them is mine I'm also always like kind of apt to see a girl with an attitude being perceived as having an attitude as being a shy girl because I know that I have [SPEAKER_01]: Often times been perceived as having an attitude mean while I'm just shy like I'm not being rude to you I just am shy.
[SPEAKER_01]: So I will say like I first I'm like, oh, is Lindsay shy? [SPEAKER_01]: No, I mean she knows these people like but still maybe that kind of like that feeling kind of persists Like you don't know if this person likes you you assume they don't because I'm dating your ex So maybe that's kind of how she went into it the thing that kind of like makes that float from my mind and Switch a room is a tail of pose and fire.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and she [SPEAKER_01]: Just has a straight-up attitude. [SPEAKER_01]: Add it to nothing but an attitude. [SPEAKER_01]: Because that's the main thing. [SPEAKER_01]: It's at the performance of the pose. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Po, pose, pose, pose. [SPEAKER_01]: Those words together in some order, you know?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: As they should be. [SPEAKER_01]: And for some reason, Lindsay's there with Dean. [SPEAKER_01]: okay cool like this is your date night love that for you go and out to see editor at your own poem perform by two different posts love that for you the raven big fan don't know i mark twain keeps getting brought up when more that grew out in poe is right there yeah but she just the way she keeps looking at rory is like [SPEAKER_02]: There, you know, the way she's looking back at Bory is just so like, and that's what I'm saying, like, as an audience member, I don't like you Lindsay.
[SPEAKER_02]: You had too much attitude, and then afterwards, when Laura Lightmeats her, she's like, I guess I remember. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: No, but see the thing is just like, how can I fight so hard for Shane to have an attitude, but with Lindsay, I'm like, Oh, but I think it's because Lindsay knows them.
[SPEAKER_01]: Lindsay went to school with Bory. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the Dino's Lane. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, Lindsey is like kind of in the circle because Dean's friends with Lori that is her ex, but like, at least front some sort of pleasantness. [SPEAKER_01]: You don't owe me being polite, but like, you're being kind of rude.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, she's just being. [SPEAKER_01]: But, too much attitude, I will say I always forgive her and retrospect. [SPEAKER_01]: In retrospect, I'm always like, you should have been rude or you should have been mean. [SPEAKER_01]: You should have pushed her to the ground. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, no, I get it.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm with you. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm totally with you. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, when we are, where we are at in season three and like, [SPEAKER_01]: What is, what is, what is this? [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I don't think that we're really positioned to not like her. [SPEAKER_02]: And I do think it's a little deserved.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's like, I get it. [SPEAKER_02]: Your teenage girl, this is your new song, the X-ray girl friend about maybe Shane. [SPEAKER_02]: But like, yeah, yeah, I admit it. [SPEAKER_02]: But Shane's, Shane truly didn't do anything wrong. [SPEAKER_02]: And it's not that Lindsay's doing anything wrong.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's that Lindsay is literally like, she started it with being rude to Rory. [SPEAKER_02]: Like yeah, she ignited that dynamic of like boys like, hey, Lindsey, like how are you and Lindsey's like, I'm fine, and it's like, okay, I just Yeah, I just thought I kind of loved to talk to Ariel about that like about like how she was meant to there was obviously a lot of directing and [SPEAKER_01]: intention behind us.
[SPEAKER_01]: So I would love to know like how she was supposed to play Lindsay. [SPEAKER_01]: Like how she felt about Lindsay having an attitude Where a lot of that came from because I would I would love to know because in that moment. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm being very hypocritical of her V-Shane, but like Shane really just felt like she was just a victim of everything going on a victim of the story [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and Lindsay in and of herself is somewhat a victim of circumstances.
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you know, Dean started dating her and he seemed really happy with her. [SPEAKER_02]: He was like, she makes me really happy and like it just kind of happened and I really like her and I think that that is how it started. [SPEAKER_02]: It's the fact that when we're introduced to her character, she is so rude for lack of a better term, to one of the protagonists that we're just like, Oh my god.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh my god. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: So now I just don't, I'm not into you at all. [SPEAKER_02]: And that changes. [SPEAKER_02]: I think it's the one situation where it changes. [SPEAKER_02]: It has, but I story unfolds. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I will add to the overall feeling.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm kind of like thinking of Shane Vellinzi. [SPEAKER_01]: Mori is rude to Shane. [SPEAKER_01]: She is like directly kind of aggressively in her face. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Mori is being very nice to Lindsay. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, Rory is trying, she's making an effort with Lindsay. [SPEAKER_01]: She's trying to connect with her.
[SPEAKER_01]: She's trying to tell her about the Mark Twain Magnet. [SPEAKER_01]: And what will I say? [SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god, don't tell that story a single other time. [SPEAKER_01]: She's making an effort and she's getting a lot of attitudes in response, not that she is owed again, her kindness, her politeness, but it's like, why?
[SPEAKER_01]: What's going on here? [SPEAKER_01]: We can read a lot into it, but again, it's one of the only people that change. [SPEAKER_01]: And I would say she's shy, but when we get to season four and Dean is working at Dragonfly, she comes in and she loves talking to everyone and she loves being there and bringing lunch and the guys like talking to her and Michelle really likes her and so it feels like she's a little crush on her, yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: He has a little crush on her, like she's quite, like in retrospect I kind of feel like you think she's quite fabulous because they're just like both tall and beautiful Yeah, but like and that's after they've gotten married and I think that it's in chicken or beef It's not yeah it's chicken or beef that I start to feel really bad for Lindsay Because that's when we find out the dean is still invested in Rory and then we see him get married and we're like girl [SPEAKER_01]: First of all, you got engaged to a man after he thought with another guy.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you shamed you for liking Michelle Branch. [SPEAKER_01]: Was it our Matchbox 20? [SPEAKER_01]: Matchbox 20. [SPEAKER_01]: They talk about that in their interview. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm probably probably mentioned both. [SPEAKER_02]: Because I think Michelle Branch comes up. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, she's like a Michelle Branch, Matchbox 20, and then Jessica sees.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: And I like those, those bands too. [SPEAKER_02]: And like she seems, Lindsay seems much more okay with voice by that point. [SPEAKER_02]: She seems to kind of ease and chill. [SPEAKER_02]: Maybe because she now like really knows that Jess and Warrior couple maybe wasn't as obvious to her when she sees her a face off but that's when it's like used to go to our school.
[SPEAKER_02]: Hmm, more is like, he still goes. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, live and see them or deans as I haven't seen her out. [SPEAKER_02]: And then that would be a good one. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: They're less, it's less about them like Lindsey being an issue and more about Lindsey presenting an issue in their exact relationship.
[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, she seems okay. [SPEAKER_01]: But I do question that she got engaged after the fight. [SPEAKER_01]: Of course, again, we would need to see the Lindsay show and I do. [SPEAKER_01]: I do want to see that Lindsay show because by the time they're married, I just feel bad for Lindsay.
[SPEAKER_01]: I feel nothing but bad for Lindsay the whole time. [SPEAKER_01]: Now, how do you feel about the situation of Dean leaving school and Rory having a really big opinion about the fact that Lindsay should get a job? [SPEAKER_02]: So, here's the thing, I don't disagree with worry when worry learns that Dean is going to be dropping out of school because Lindsey wants a townhouse.
[SPEAKER_02]: Now, Dean is the one, Dean is the narrator here. [SPEAKER_02]: Dean is positioning for all intents and purposes positioning, Lindsey, as the villain in the situation. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, Lindsey really wants a townhouse, like by the spring, and we're like, okay, and what is she doing to get the townhouse?
[SPEAKER_02]: Hello, like the original plan was that these two were supposed to go to college together and like even though they were getting married, it's like Lindsey's coming with me. [SPEAKER_02]: We're going to college like that is what we're going to do. [SPEAKER_01]: What's going to go into college, it was Lindsey moving from this place and going to another place and it just so happened to be that there was a college there.
[SPEAKER_02]: Don't know, we're never really, we're never really told, but I do agree with Rory that like, whether this is an X or a friend, I would be very frustrated hearing that my friend is dropping out of school because their partner really wants him to make more money. [SPEAKER_01]: See, that's where the unreliable narrator comes from because I have really hard time trusting Dean being very honest and not changing anything about the story when it comes to Lindsay.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because like Lindsay wants a townhouse, so I'm going to pick up some more hours. [SPEAKER_01]: What have you in your relationship talked about that Lindsay's not going to work or that like, [SPEAKER_01]: That is the kind of thing of like you've told Lindsay that like I'm gonna work and you're not going to and that's how our family's gonna be set up because that's how I wanted a family to be Yeah, and so there's this element of it that like worry of course has an opinion But she only has an opinion so far as what Dean is letting her in on and Be fair to happen.
[SPEAKER_02]: What I wrote down here is like I agree with worries a [SPEAKER_01]: No, like literally you're just walking around not talking in code words. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: Come on. [SPEAKER_01]: What is this? [SPEAKER_01]: What, please, please, please, please better than that.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, who, well, we know exactly who it was. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but also it's like, she's talking code. [SPEAKER_01]: She would totally talk in code. [SPEAKER_02]: She would talk in code. [SPEAKER_02]: And so it's one of those things that's where my defense of Bory ends is that like I completely agree with Bory's opinion that she's like okay what like what I don't understand this like he has so much potential and he's throwing it away because his wife doesn't want to work like what about her what does she do all day and meanwhile boom and if that were me [SPEAKER_02]: And I heard that my husband was talking to not just somebody, not just a friend.
[SPEAKER_02]: That in and of itself is insulting. [SPEAKER_02]: You're telling your ex-girlfriend about our relationship, our dynamic in the I want to townhouse. [SPEAKER_02]: And she has an opinion about it. [SPEAKER_02]: And now I'm listening to her just go on and on and on about how I'm a bad partner.
[SPEAKER_02]: And I guess I'm like, what about I do all day like suck on his life. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, which is where I'm like, [SPEAKER_01]: and it even comes back further to that when Dean runs out into the middle of the street and stops for his car and he's like, yeah, Lindsay doesn't want me to talk to you anymore.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's the motion. [SPEAKER_01]: It's the motion on YouTube. [SPEAKER_01]: It's the motion. [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, it's it's Dean's presentation of it that I just can't I can't believe this man. [SPEAKER_01]: Like I actually can't believe either side of it. [SPEAKER_01]: like I truly believe that there's more to the Lindsay side of it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Do I think that they should be equally contributing if they both have the desire and time to do so towards their townhouse? [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, but has Dean always like like positioned himself at least in season one as being the type of guy who likes a woman who provides for him. [SPEAKER_01]: Meanwhile, his mom did have a job like she did work.
[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't know if like there's this expectation that she was not going to work, but their marriage was set up as I don't know, but I just don't believe Dean, because of how much he has told us in the future about things. [SPEAKER_02]: that he is not presenting well story to. [SPEAKER_02]: Dean is an unreliable narrator.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's very much giving Chris at the end of season two telling Laura Lied that they're done. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, when it comes to Dean and Roy, it's over. [SPEAKER_01]: It's not over to Lindsay. [SPEAKER_01]: She's sitting up waiting for you. [SPEAKER_02]: Totally. [SPEAKER_01]: She is desperately trying to make your favorite dish.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like she keeps ruining it. [SPEAKER_01]: And she's making him write the recipe down at the butcher shop. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, well, there wasn't butcher shop in Star's Hollow, but she's trying so hard. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And he's yelling at her. [SPEAKER_01]: See, that's when I'm like, I completely any sort of like disdain I've had for her any argument, any opinion, contrary to blonde, any bad category she fits in.
[SPEAKER_01]: every single argument disappears when she is waiting at home for him and he yells at her for answering his phone and be like that could have been work. [SPEAKER_02]: It all goes out the window and that again is where I think the justice for Lindsay really picks up is because everything up until that point.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's like, yeah, you decided to be in a relationship with this guy, you don't like his ex-girlfriend, fine, but like, you haven't really necessarily been nice to her. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, then I give you, I give you credit once you hear that she's running her mouth in Tosi's market about her opinions on you.
[SPEAKER_02]: I also wouldn't like somebody like that, and from there on out, I'm really truly like, okay. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's like hopscotching between blonde and bad, and then it is blonde blonde blonde blonde blonde She is truly she she goes from being potentially like a villain to be done and just like oh [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it she did not deserve what she got even even if they did get married young even if she may have sensed that Dean still had feelings for Rory like she did not deserve the way that that now boy treated her and oh boy did she not then when her mother screams at Laura Lyon Brey in the middle of the street I understand why that would be off putting [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I will get it.
[SPEAKER_01]: I understand the anger. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, my mom's not going to not say something. [SPEAKER_01]: No. [SPEAKER_01]: You're walking through the street with Jeannie Meaney, and she's just going to... [SPEAKER_01]: You run into the face-to-face. [SPEAKER_01]: She's gonna say nothing. [SPEAKER_02]: She would say something.
[SPEAKER_02]: It would be passive-aggressive, it wouldn't be- It would be a stress-ing. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think my mom would get that, but she- Words would be exchanged, but it might be more of the- Would you like another beer, Luke? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Might be more of that. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, maybe she would go full, Mrs. Lister, maybe, would love to find out.
[SPEAKER_01]: Actually, I would never love to find out. [SPEAKER_01]: I hope that never happens to me. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, thank you so much. [SPEAKER_02]: I just think that like D needs to be held more accountable. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, worried is something wrong. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: But when she's throwing his stuff out the window, I'm cheering her on.
[SPEAKER_01]: Go, girl. [SPEAKER_01]: Go. [SPEAKER_01]: Throw his hotness. [SPEAKER_01]: I hope it breaks. [SPEAKER_01]: I hope it breaks right and what a full circle moment we're introduced to their relationship at the hockey game hockey stick goes right out the window when Love it does yeah different kind of heated rival right there But I mean even when her mom's yelling in the street she's like cowering away from it.
[SPEAKER_01]: She doesn't [SPEAKER_01]: want to be the center of attention in this way. [SPEAKER_01]: But she is the final question here. [SPEAKER_01]: Would you watch the Lindsay show? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, I think I would watch the Lindsay documentary. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, I would need to know I would want to know I would watch the Lindsay story the Lindsay documentary of her perspective throughout this [SPEAKER_01]: But I think I would watch the Lindsay show which starts when she leaves Star's Hollow after being cheated on and having her whole like redemption arc and figuring out her own life.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because now I'm like, she's successful and happy and has like a refrigerator of a husband who's just a sentiment role who would never treat her poorly. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, totally. [SPEAKER_02]: I hope that's her. [SPEAKER_02]: She doesn't have a lot better than being boy just yet. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: Just as villain too. [SPEAKER_02]: Just as villaincy. [SPEAKER_02]: So speaking to characters that we would watch their show, this is a character who show, I just would be so bored to tears to watch. [SPEAKER_01]: And that is Nicole. [SPEAKER_01]: That's Nicole. [SPEAKER_01]: She's in like a procedural, you know?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: She's like comes in in like law and order. [SPEAKER_01]: She's got a scene. [SPEAKER_02]: It's not necessarily her fault. [SPEAKER_02]: She's built this way. [SPEAKER_02]: She's built to just kind of, she's brought in the antithesis of lower line every way including the fact that she's just boring as hell.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because when I wrote her down, I didn't even write down Nicole Part 1 because it's like, I don't even, they weren't even like really interested, Luke and her weren't really like interested in each other. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, the main conflict was between Lorelie and Chris. [SPEAKER_01]: They were more so just friends, her and Luke.
[SPEAKER_01]: So it wasn't even like I felt like they were keeping each other apart. [SPEAKER_01]: Like Nicole was keeping them apart. [SPEAKER_01]: It just felt like this boring woman. [SPEAKER_01]: who is Taylor's lawyer meets Luke and they're not really both suited for each other but like they're together and it makes for a lot of really comedic moments between Jess and Luke definitely and then they go on a Alaskan cruise that turns into a seven-country cruise at the beginning of season four.
[SPEAKER_02]: Well before this we have to remember that like Nicole this comes up in a tale of Pozenpire [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, of course. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so she's introduced in a way. [SPEAKER_02]: It is Luke's fault for sure, but she's introduced in a way that's like kind of sweet their meat cute is definitely like on the It's cute side of cute.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's not not cute, but Luke does ask her out because he finds out that Laura is going out with Alex [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, after the whole fishing date and he kind of loved that scene with them and he lets her borrow his like tackle box and his stuff and he teaches a lot of fish Even though he totally knows that she's going on a date with some other guy and that gives him the impetus to ask Nicole out And so it's interesting and again Nicole is very much [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, Nicole is very much a victim of circumstance.
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, she just happened to meet this guy who she finds kind of cute and just points out like she was totally hitting on you. [SPEAKER_02]: He's like, no, she wasn't. [SPEAKER_02]: And then he ends up like taking the wheel and being like, let's go out on a date. [SPEAKER_01]: Bye. [SPEAKER_02]: But he talked about Laura lie the whole time.
[SPEAKER_02]: We find out in a telephosen fire because she was a little a little chilly towards her at the poh. [SPEAKER_02]: She was presentation side of it. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, she and Lindsay, it was very poh. [SPEAKER_02]: very pop and you know she allows Laura to burp and I'll need it back and it's just giving it's giving just like a little um sharp yes giving sharp it's not giving warm it's giving ice ice baby [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know that I would be super warm in that regard, like, what is there deal?
[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's moving a little bit towards blonde. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, it's like the writers didn't want me to like her. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Meanwhile, Laura is not an option for this man. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, yeah, it shouldn't loopy happy. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, it's kind of like a toss up there.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, it's like, it admittedly. [SPEAKER_01]: I never once liked Nicole. [SPEAKER_01]: There was no part of she's like Nicole. [SPEAKER_01]: Same. [SPEAKER_02]: I never liked her. [SPEAKER_02]: She's like, flavorless chicken. [SPEAKER_02]: She's just like, [SPEAKER_02]: is she cooked?
[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe not. [SPEAKER_02]: Like, she's like, we're off-leverless chicken. [SPEAKER_02]: That's in the fridge. [SPEAKER_02]: And I'm going to touch it with your hands. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, exactly. [SPEAKER_02]: It's just she's just kind of like sterile and and not exciting. [SPEAKER_02]: She's boring.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not watching that show. [SPEAKER_02]: She's not making character energy. [SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean? [SPEAKER_02]: Like all the women we've talked about, maybe with the exception of like Shane because she was kind of like our cotton candy princess, but a lot less explored than Lindsey Sherry Rachel.
[SPEAKER_01]: She's kind of the first person that it's a little bit like you're just so, so bland that like I just don't care I'm so care about you and I think what's quite hard with Nicole is like, and the same way as Sherry She has a part one and a part two where she has one color hair red and then she's very very blond.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I think I don't really have [SPEAKER_01]: much feelings towards Nicole, because like, floor lies with someone who actually quite like, I like Daleks. [SPEAKER_01]: She's with Luke. [SPEAKER_01]: It's making Luke seemingly happy. [SPEAKER_01]: It's like he's going to see shows, you know, he's meeting her parents.
[SPEAKER_01]: Do I love that situation? [SPEAKER_01]: No, but it's quite funny. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I'm like, okay, go on your last-can-cruise. [SPEAKER_01]: Then, if season three, come back at the beginning of season four, and it was a seven-country cruise. [SPEAKER_01]: You guys switched your change turbines, that's fine.
[SPEAKER_01]: But when she comes back blonde, is really when I don't give, like, it's almost funny because she comes back blonde and she feels all bad. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like, I don't give any sense of it being like, oh, it's the writer's wanting us not to like her. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, she's just like a victim of her circumstance.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, she's just blonde and dumb blonde vibes. [SPEAKER_01]: It's the cheese cheating on Luke. [SPEAKER_01]: It's that they were getting married. [SPEAKER_01]: Or they got married. [SPEAKER_01]: They were getting divorced. [SPEAKER_01]: She decided not to get divorced. [SPEAKER_01]: And then she's the one that cheats after buying a townhouse with this guy.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and you're just like, why didn't you just get divorced? [SPEAKER_01]: You could have saved every bit of this trouble. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you were the one that wanted this. [SPEAKER_01]: Totally. [SPEAKER_02]: She's the one that re-initiates, contact them dating. [SPEAKER_02]: She's like a little... She actually starts out kind of like, hey Laura, Laura, how are you?
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, in the diner when Laura likes these her dad jerk, but like that is just progressively gets worse because Laura is just so taken aback by the fact that she's there. [SPEAKER_02]: She had no idea the two of them were together. [SPEAKER_02]: I think Nicole will pick up on that and just ends up being a little like snobbish towards Laura live and a little smug by the end and it is just one of those things where I agree with you like we are really made to dislike her and we do.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that that is earned in like the difference of like all of the other women I like she ends up very much like plain in the bad category and not even from the perspective of like doing something wrong towards a girl She's being like an actual terrible partner. [SPEAKER_01]: Like yeah, the worst that you could be We were getting divorced.
[SPEAKER_01]: You wanted to stay together and now you're cheating on me and I'm wearing another man's socks [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: All the while I've been to jail and back, and you're still up there with it. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, of course, not me. [SPEAKER_01]: I've never been to jail and back.
[SPEAKER_01]: Hopefully, never. [SPEAKER_01]: But I don't feel in any way that she want she's blonde, that she fits into the blonde category. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: The only one, really, that I'm like, once you're blonde, you're bad. [SPEAKER_01]: She had to stay red and then you would have been blonde.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: You didn't need to be blonde. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm with you. [SPEAKER_01]: You were not blonde when you were blonde. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: You were more blonde when you weren't blonde. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: I think that in season three, I'm not team Nicole by any means. [SPEAKER_02]: Again, she's still flavorless chicken. [SPEAKER_02]: But I do think that she is more. [SPEAKER_02]: like you said a victim of just kind of meeting this man who, and I don't even think a victim. [SPEAKER_02]: Not a victim is the wrong word.
[SPEAKER_02]: I think she's just kind of a, it's just, I say a victim of circumstance in the sense that like these women that we've talked about tend to fall for for men who are harbouring feelings for a Gilmour roll. [SPEAKER_02]: That is the, that is the trope throughout. [SPEAKER_02]: They are harbouring feelings, has feelings for the guy that they're with.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but Luke was Luke had feelings for Laura. [SPEAKER_02]: I didn't know where they stood when Rachel came on came back on the scene. [SPEAKER_02]: Chris wanted to be with Laura lie and then ends up needing Sherry and Sherry's the one that kind of gives him the ultimate of like you need to get your life together and I'm not going to be with you.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's kind of Sherry part one that I feel like it's more like Laura lie kind of harboring towards Chris, but then totally Sherry part two that Chris totally kind of like the one on that end. [SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_02]: Shane is literally a victim of circumstances with just all around and your story is harboring feelings for Jess But with Lindsey, it's like Dean just wants to get over worry.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, we doesn't But like that's what we learn when in um, what is it? [SPEAKER_01]: Let the games begin or is it? [SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no It's a different green thing's giving when he's like talking to Jess Yeah, but like maybe you want to get back to your other story, which is never really [SPEAKER_01]: Lord fully admitted.
[SPEAKER_02]: No, it's just clear he still is harboring feelings for her in a way that he feels like he was wronged in that like, you know, when he, and that'll do peg he's like, well, you were friends with worry and look how worked out for you. [SPEAKER_02]: And now I'm just going to pray and then all of a sudden he's with Lindsey and it's kind of like, okay, and we hope that he's moving on and he's happy and it's just like, all right.
[SPEAKER_02]: And so he does move on but he's not happy because he moves right back. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he's true. [SPEAKER_02]: So by the time, you know, we get to Nicole and Luke, it's like Luke has feelings for Laura lie, but she's not like she has an open opportunity to be with him. [SPEAKER_02]: There's no more Christopher in her life.
[SPEAKER_02]: He's moved on with Sherry. [SPEAKER_02]: Max is no longer a part of the picture. [SPEAKER_02]: And now she's still not going on a date with him. [SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean? [SPEAKER_02]: So I just think like, [SPEAKER_02]: Nicole stumbled into the situation unknowingly like dating a man who clearly did have feelings for Laurel I he talked about her a lot on their first date and did she choose to continue dating him?
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, and did you harbor those ill feelings towards Laurel? [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, kind of like wrongfully so yes, but I have more grace for her during that period of time than I do for when she returns and when she comes back. [SPEAKER_01]: And it's almost because, like, during that time, a kind of no care about her.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, yeah, you're setting up some interesting conflict in situations with characters that I like, but you're here, you're not, I don't care either way. [SPEAKER_01]: And then she just causes nothing but drama when she comes into season four. [SPEAKER_01]: But her departure is, makes clear, clear skies, clear runway for the Luke plane to land on the borderline's runway.
[SPEAKER_01]: Wow, wow, I don't, [SPEAKER_01]: I don't, I don't know where that plane metaphor came from. [SPEAKER_02]: And it's gonna never come back. [SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, speaking of drama, let's talk about panel and lot. [SPEAKER_02]: a blonde and not a blonde. [SPEAKER_02]: I think a blonde, for sure, right?
[SPEAKER_02]: She's blonde, she's blonde when we meet her in four. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: And I think that she's positioned as a villain, both in like the telling of their history and let the games begin. [SPEAKER_00]: And she's in three. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: And she's in three when Richard was engaged to her.
[SPEAKER_02]: And we can't realize the one to be kind of like, hey, she's the other woman. [SPEAKER_02]: She's the other woman, Emily. [SPEAKER_01]: And then on her. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, another woman should be saying you have the other woman. [SPEAKER_02]: But I think it's easy for her. [SPEAKER_02]: She's really positioned to be a quote unquote villain or bad if you leave it.
[SPEAKER_01]: At that point, I do believe it because I think it's season three. [SPEAKER_01]: We can, we cannot know bad or blonde because we would have to go to the prequel. [SPEAKER_01]: We even have to go to the prequel, if we knew for sure if she was bad or bad. [SPEAKER_01]: We would have to travel back in time, missing me from Paldina.
[SPEAKER_01]: If you would like to let us know that is exactly what we would want to know is what Penalyn Law is doing in the Emily and Richard Pico. [SPEAKER_01]: It's true, I'm a my request. [SPEAKER_01]: But I think what we do get to for, there's no way to not say she's bad. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, yeah, honestly, Laura likes her.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like when she meets her, she's kind of like, what it's like, the way that you're talking to her is insane, Laura. [SPEAKER_01]: This is like one of the only times [SPEAKER_01]: Like, in dear to someone, like, oh my gosh, you are my almost mommy, and then like, talks to her outside of the bathroom that I'm like, Laura, like, that's one of the only times I'm like, we don't like her.
[SPEAKER_01]: We don't talk to her. [SPEAKER_01]: I agree with your mom, like, so I think that's the one time when I'm like, oh, bad. [SPEAKER_02]: She falls into the bad camp. [SPEAKER_02]: She does because she's having lunch with Richard, behind her own husband's back. [SPEAKER_02]: She knows that Richard's not telling Emily every year for 35, 40 years.
[SPEAKER_02]: You're joking. [SPEAKER_02]: It's so egg. [SPEAKER_02]: It's weird. [SPEAKER_01]: If I knew that he wasn't telling his wife, I would immediately like cut it off. [SPEAKER_02]: I just would never do that as a woman. [SPEAKER_02]: I just would never do. [SPEAKER_02]: And he should never do that as a man.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, you know? [SPEAKER_01]: So, I like, there's no way for her to be blonde. [SPEAKER_01]: No, fits into bad. [SPEAKER_02]: And if we didn't give that, it would just be, you know, the retelling of her being Richard's original fiancé. [SPEAKER_02]: And then grand, really adding insult to injury.
[SPEAKER_02]: After Ted couples big nine out when she passes away to entry. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: And Emily finds the carbon copy of the note that Tricks wrote Richard the night before he got married and is giving sheer Hansberger, what about that Fallen girl? [SPEAKER_02]: Do you still talk to her?
[SPEAKER_02]: I love [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I didn't write Shira down, but she's a blonde. [SPEAKER_01]: She's just bad. [SPEAKER_01]: She's a blonde. [SPEAKER_01]: She's just bad. [SPEAKER_01]: There's no discussion actually. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, she's just, she's bad. [SPEAKER_01]: She's blonde and she's bad.
[SPEAKER_01]: But she's not blonde. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: But she's not blonde. [SPEAKER_01]: But she's not blonde. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: But I feel like Pendlin is the same. [SPEAKER_01]: She's totally blonde, but she's bad, but she's not blonde. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Which is confusing.
[SPEAKER_01]: Unless you've been listening. [UNKNOWN]: This episode this far. [SPEAKER_01]: Um, I have two more that I feel one of them is like kind of an honorable mention, and that's Juliette, who in season five, Logan's friend who's blonde. [SPEAKER_01]: And I think that she's just more of a victim of the time, like just the fact that like she's a blonde girl who is kind of like the epitome of what we're supposed to hate about like other women that the girls don't like.
[SPEAKER_01]: So it's like getting skinny as a joke, but being skinny is a standard, and it's like kind of like her whole personality is having an eating disorder. [SPEAKER_01]: and being very blonde. [SPEAKER_01]: And I think that that's quite hard because that just feels so very of the 2000s, kind of of Amy's perspective on body image at the time.
[SPEAKER_01]: So she's quite, she's quite difficult and quite different of blonde, but I do think that she falls into the blonde category of like we're supposed to kind of dislike this privileged girl who just is a victim of the 2000s, more so than anything. [SPEAKER_01]: So I wanted to throw her in there because she is she's blonde, but like [SPEAKER_01]: very different reasons than the other blondes.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, she's, but also she's not. [SPEAKER_02]: I didn't really think about her. [SPEAKER_02]: She's not a love interest. [SPEAKER_02]: She's not like someone that you're positioning up against any of the girls. [SPEAKER_01]: She's just blonde. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: The last blonde that I have though is Bobby.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Bobby, just for Bobby. [SPEAKER_01]: Just as for Bobby, Bobby, like you said, more so than any other blonde, really is just the blonde, is stuff the blonde. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, because what is so intimate and gorgeous and kind and is the only person at the table when wearing meets her that is actually interested in her.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, and she's just trying to hate her. [SPEAKER_01]: She hates her because she spends time with her boyfriend. [SPEAKER_01]: And she hates her because like how many times you've to stand up at dinner? [SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, okay, but how often does this woman end up in situations? [SPEAKER_01]: Where she is the only woman in the room being like, [SPEAKER_01]: Like a standard of beauty that most people like strive for and therefore all of these men Appreciate so like she is not only like like in this room full of men as a woman But also as a beautiful woman who is not going to be taken seriously and so uses that to her advantage at least in my mind Yeah, so it's like when thick knicker fill up I don't know the difference between the two of them like his like come on stand up like because in the meeting She just stands up in its legs legs legs and she says meeting the meetings everboys
[SPEAKER_01]: And they make her really do it. [SPEAKER_01]: And then they're like cheering for her. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, but do you value her at work? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you have to. [SPEAKER_01]: And I like hope that Logan would. [SPEAKER_01]: But like the way that this all comes about, it's like, She's the one that wants to talk to you, Rory.
[SPEAKER_01]: She's the one that and she feels so condescended to. [SPEAKER_01]: But no, she's trying [SPEAKER_01]: really too. [SPEAKER_01]: She loved, she misses reading literature. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, and she's like, hmm, yeah, I do like that. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah, come on, don't be picky. [SPEAKER_02]: And like this all boils down.
[SPEAKER_02]: She like Bobby is the perfect example of everything we've been talking about in this episode, which is that it all boils down to the men. [SPEAKER_02]: Logan's the one that didn't tell her that Bobby was a girl, and he didn't feel like he needed to. [SPEAKER_02]: And this is again like the depth and the sheet cake of season seven is quite sharp.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: But it's also like the details. [SPEAKER_01]: Men don't always provide the details. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: There's details that need to be provided. [SPEAKER_01]: And like, you didn't mention her. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, you didn't mention that you have a girl that you work with.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you just call her Bobby all the time. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: But I think that there is a level of it that like, she just really is the epitome of being blonde or bad. [SPEAKER_01]: She's blonde. [SPEAKER_01]: Like there's nothing wrong with Bobby. [SPEAKER_01]: She just the girl the Gilmore girl who Bobby is around her boyfriend Doesn't like her therefore we don't like her totally.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's it That's all thing can to be honest. [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't like Bobby when I met her when I was watching it live I was like who is this girl? [SPEAKER_01]: Bobbie was a shane. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, she was my sheen [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Bobby is Shane season 7 Shane and I think that that's a thing is and I think that that's a thing is that she comes on and I'm like Oh my gosh, what's going to happen with with Logan is Bobby going to intervene is he going to cheat on Roy with Bobby like what is going to happen here nothing nothing Bobby's just doing her job in trying to exist in a man's world as a beautiful woman.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's just probably also very smart. [SPEAKER_01]: She went to Oxford and just happens to have amazing legs. [SPEAKER_01]: But she has legs. [SPEAKER_01]: What is a girl to do? [SPEAKER_01]: What is a girl to do? [SPEAKER_01]: But be blind and have legs. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's true.
[SPEAKER_01]: And that's the end of this episode. [SPEAKER_02]: The only other person besides everybody we just mentioned, that is kind of positioned is like, quote unquote, other woman just not in a romantic way, just juxtapose against Lorelei is and I would mention at the beginning of the episode. [SPEAKER_02]: She's a past love interest in someone that like, you know, is talked about by the town, patty, but that she was beautiful.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, that not Gini girl, but like, it's not about that stellar. [SPEAKER_02]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_02]: It's not about that. [SPEAKER_02]: It's that like I do think that differently from all of these women, Anna's character was built on the foundation of being a mirror almost to lower life.
[SPEAKER_02]: She wasn't meant to be like Nicole on season check in. [SPEAKER_02]: She wasn't meant to be like Shane. [SPEAKER_02]: Truly the antithesis of Rory Gilmour. [SPEAKER_02]: She was literally built as almost a mirror reflection of lower life, which I think is why [SPEAKER_01]: Not blonde. [SPEAKER_01]: Not blonde.
[SPEAKER_01]: Not blonde and not blonde. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, only bad. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but like a little bit. [SPEAKER_01]: There's no there's no blonde. [SPEAKER_01]: She's not only bad, but she only fits into the blonde or bad category. [SPEAKER_01]: She only fits into bad because I don't think any of the any of the blonde like characteristics that we have given.
[SPEAKER_01]: actually apply to her like the victim of circumstance or like the Gilmore girl didn't write like her or like the writers made us not like her well I mean the writers made us not like her but I didn't like her so I think that she's only bad we'd have to make a new category for her that's [SPEAKER_02]: Potentially not, but yeah, we also do a lot of the entire episode about Anna Nartini and her choices and and heard from some of you about like, you know, how she was perceived by the audience and that there's a lot of new ones there is mom and so like, yes, this is a very different conversation.
[SPEAKER_02]: I just found it interesting that the only [SPEAKER_02]: one of the only characters besides like Sherry 1.0 that is introduced into the story to be juxtaposed up against Laura Lye as like a past love interest or a current or future love interest for Luke and or even a few of his suitors.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, purely platonic. [SPEAKER_02]: Purely platonic is a burnette. [UNKNOWN]: Hmm. [SPEAKER_01]: So, but she's not, she's not blonde either. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, our blonde category. [SPEAKER_01]: She's not blonde. [SPEAKER_01]: She's not blonde. [SPEAKER_01]: And stuff is sort of like, what am I listening to?
[SPEAKER_01]: What? [SPEAKER_01]: They were like, I need, I need this over it now. [SPEAKER_01]: But I do want to add, like, just at the end here, like, in the same way that, like, Anna's kind of, like, different, bad and brunette, blonde and fantastic. [SPEAKER_01]: Liz Daines. [SPEAKER_02]: Hmm. [SPEAKER_02]: True.
[SPEAKER_01]: Ampere, but she's not blonde, but she's not bad. [SPEAKER_01]: Just blonde and fantastic. [SPEAKER_01]: I love her. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: So that's our little homage to the non-gill mortgals. [SPEAKER_02]: If you disagree or agree, let us know, drop in in the comments.
[SPEAKER_02]: You can comment on Spotify, comment on YouTube or send it to YouTube. [SPEAKER_01]: You can like comment back a lot easier. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: If you want to have a little conversation, if you disagree with our [SPEAKER_01]: Blonde or bad characteristics are like if anyone fit into the Blonde or bad category, or if we forgot a blonde, not including Logan, or a pair of polusa, or a pair of course, pairs doesn't include.
[SPEAKER_01]: We would need an entirely different set of circumstances and characteristics to define pairs. [SPEAKER_02]: She should guess who could say that she's a little juxtaposing and sorry from an academic standpoint and just as a character But she's so much deeper. [SPEAKER_02]: She's been a lot of the other people.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's just that like I would say maybe you can make that argument for Tristan's affection towards Rory and that like Paris does have a lot of beef with Rory not just on an academic level But on a Tristan like sort of kind of level, but that take effect someone is yelling [SPEAKER_01]: Louise, you forgot Louise.
[SPEAKER_01]: And she doesn't fit. [SPEAKER_01]: Because she's iconic. [SPEAKER_01]: She's blonde and iconic. [SPEAKER_02]: And their intentions were different. [SPEAKER_02]: The women that we talked about today, they had the intention of coming in and shaking up the romantic storylines in this series.
[SPEAKER_02]: And that is why we wanted to talk about them is because, as I said, like growing up, I really had a deep dislike for some of these women. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: You had the same thing like for Bobby. [SPEAKER_02]: And it's just a name of the interesting. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes. [SPEAKER_02]: To watch this show as a grown woman and be like, [SPEAKER_02]: like them.
[SPEAKER_02]: They're so nuanced and like Amy built that into the series as well as building in kind of this narrative of like you're not supposed to like these women. [SPEAKER_02]: You're not really supposed to root for them, but there is a lot more nuanced content. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: So, and you loved it. [SPEAKER_02]: We have a lot of giving a little a little justice for the non-gillmore girls for the not justice. [SPEAKER_02]: Because some of them we didn't like, like, no justice. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no justice for some of these women, but some [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, fine.
