[SPEAKER_01]: Five, six, seven, eight elections. [SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about the elections of Gilmore Girls. [SPEAKER_01]: We elect to talk about the elections. [SPEAKER_02]: We elect. [SPEAKER_01]: All right, here we go. [SPEAKER_01]: If anybody will come back to their motorcycle side with Terran Haley, I'm Terran.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is Haley. [SPEAKER_01]: Hi, Haley. [SPEAKER_01]: Hi, Terran. [SPEAKER_02]: It's election day today. [SPEAKER_02]: It's election day. [SPEAKER_02]: It's sweater day. [SPEAKER_02]: We've got sweaters on today. [SPEAKER_01]: I know I was going to wear my lingo front because sweater, but I didn't.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I love you. [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you guys so much for watching YouTube. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, my. [SPEAKER_01]: God, Haley got up a bit ate oatmeal in Guafranco sweater. [SPEAKER_01]: I got a coffee coffee coffee coffee, but I'm not wearing it right now Instead of wearing one from Newly which of course also the effect, but the the lingua franca gillmar girl's collection So so good.
[SPEAKER_02]: They have like their classic sweater where you can pick a bunch of different colors bunch of different threads [SPEAKER_02]: for all the different sayings, like it's all your favorite ones, away with the Poodles already, coffee coffee coffee, I have a by that eight oatmeal classic, but they have life in death brigade and Omnia Parade is like there's so many options, and I've every time I've talked to Terabada, I've told her that it's the most [SPEAKER_02]: wonderful sweater.
[SPEAKER_02]: I've ever put on my body ever. [SPEAKER_02]: And it's so true. [SPEAKER_02]: I think that you will probably see me in the sweater way too much. [SPEAKER_01]: I can't wait to your favorite item. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's so soft. [SPEAKER_02]: And I end up sizing up one size and it's like literally the perfectly slightly oversized sweater for winter.
[SPEAKER_02]: So like you guys watch out. [SPEAKER_02]: You're going to be tired watching. [SPEAKER_01]: You guys watch out. [SPEAKER_01]: But I love mine and I love the reference of this one. [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't size up. [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm like very curious to see how I feel in mine Because I like a little bit a little tighter fit on a sweater.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it depends like this one I'm currently wearing a like a little more oversized, but when that is like Kashmirish like Kashmir cotton. [SPEAKER_01]: I think I prefer. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: We're gonna see, but I'm excited Well, we're in the agenda another episode [SPEAKER_02]: next week I feel like though in general you like a tighter fit anyway.
[SPEAKER_02]: I like it to not touch my body but but I just so comfy so like just if you see me this winter you probably don't I'm wearing. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm almost like if you don't see me you already know what I'm wearing. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah we just want to make sure that you can get a visual even if you're not watching us.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but go good. [SPEAKER_02]: Take them out. [SPEAKER_02]: They gifted us sweaters and I Oh God, it's so good and I've always been a fan of their stuff. [SPEAKER_01]: I love their tits up. [SPEAKER_01]: Marvelism is amazing collection. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and so so cute I know and that'll be good for us next year because they also have election swatters too They're so cute Yes, yes, I remember I remember actually how I found that [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I found them doing elections like all like they had like vote sweaters.
[SPEAKER_02]: They're like Lots of different like sayings as it relates to election time But yeah, I think that they're super cute, which is really mouth and because today is election day It's not a National election or like a big state election depending on where you live. [SPEAKER_02]: I would check in with your local election with your state What's going on because in Georgia?
[SPEAKER_02]: not much is going on, it's just municipal elections. [SPEAKER_02]: I know in New York City there's a big mayoral election going on. [SPEAKER_02]: It's quite intense. [SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, I'm definitely watching that one. [SPEAKER_02]: Definitely seeing what happens with saron because I think your cross will see what happens.
[SPEAKER_02]: but like with mine is like there's not like a lot of huge elections but the way that you have to think about it because I know a lot of people vote like every four years every two years which you shouldn't you should vote in every election because that's how you counteract a lot of what's going on with your own voice in politics is through voting and if you think about it it's like in Gilmore girls when they vote for town select men that is a municipal local election and [SPEAKER_02]: So you have to think about it like that you are voting for your own Taylor do see or you are voting out your own Taylor do see when you go to your local elections.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's true. [SPEAKER_01]: It's true. [SPEAKER_01]: And we want to talk about this today because we've talked about Taylor like I think that we did this for election day in 2022 we've got us a town selection. [SPEAKER_02]: I think it was yeah, we talked about him and his history, our little magician.
[SPEAKER_01]: place into his character and into his role in the psyche and that comes out of course in his sight to be sure into Piccano and Taylor too. [SPEAKER_01]: And we also talks last year about town meetings because that is the way that this town tends to handle a lot of their politics and a lot of their like town affairs is in the town.
[SPEAKER_01]: So he's such a dad. [SPEAKER_02]: You reminded me of when Andrew and [SPEAKER_02]: everyone like who is in the wrong because we have to get a courthouse in this town. [SPEAKER_02]: I just love it. [SPEAKER_02]: I like love the idea of like small town like drama like that like totally literal legal issues in front of everyone in front of everyone you know.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so great. [SPEAKER_02]: We don't have town selectments in Georgia because I was looking up like about town. [SPEAKER_02]: I think that I've realized this in the past because I had like a sort of like a vague memory of having realized this previously but that's like a New England thing.
[SPEAKER_02]: We have city council [SPEAKER_02]: which I was like, oh, Commissioner Docey sounds like way, like, more intense than Selectment Docey. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, it does. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Commissioner reminds me of Batman, like Commissioner Gordon. [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm like, okay, intense. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, well, could you imagine the videos he in Batman in Gotham City? [SPEAKER_02]: No, I can't. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow [SPEAKER_01]: is, you know, obviously the events that happen in the town and Taylor's for lack of a better term chokehold on the, like, God is going on in the town is very, very fascinating.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so we wanted to talk about that election of town select man because that when you think elections on Gilmore girls, I think that's the first one that comes to mind, but there's also another episode that has [SPEAKER_01]: a pretty important election in the Gilmore girl's lives and that is in the season two finale.
[SPEAKER_01]: I can't get started when Paris decides to run forced in body president and she pretty much strong arms Roy into running with her as her VP and they win. [SPEAKER_01]: So we wanted to kind of parallel these two episodes up against each other because it does say a lot about how the Paladino is [SPEAKER_01]: a lot of thoughts.
[SPEAKER_01]: I know you do too. [SPEAKER_02]: Plus gonna be both have a lot of thoughts. [SPEAKER_02]: I want to start off with the thought that like both of these because like there's other elections like it's when Paris is like elected editor of the LA News and then when Bory has her like little special election because she you serve Paris because Paris gets ousted.
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, but these are like the two most important ones, and they're with the most intense people who like Paris and Taylor, because like with Paris, it's like a school election, which should feel pretty, you know, [SPEAKER_02]: in both of these actions. [SPEAKER_01]: And they are very similar characters in that like there's an intensity about them.
[SPEAKER_01]: They wear the titles that they have as like badges of honor for them. [SPEAKER_01]: That really don't find who they are. [SPEAKER_01]: Like they're standing in their town or their school. [SPEAKER_01]: really matters to them. [SPEAKER_01]: I think for parents, the goal is, of course, getting into college.
[SPEAKER_01]: But I think that similarly to Taylor, that is just like bread inside of her. [SPEAKER_01]: And so I like that these two people feel very, very similar being at the center of both episodes and of both conflicts. [SPEAKER_01]: And both of them. [SPEAKER_02]: Definitely and I kind of broke it down just like based on like a regular election cycle or election process rather because of election cycle usually has more to do with like the financing but there's not any financing going into either of these elections.
[SPEAKER_02]: No, but in the process it's kind of like the inception, the decision to run, the campaigning, and polling, the voting, and the results which both of these elections have. [SPEAKER_02]: But when we start off and I can't get started when we get into [SPEAKER_02]: specifically because there's also a whole wedding going on.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is very much a B plot that I was going to say the difference between these two episodes is that and I can't get started the Election is the B plot and in typical New and Taylor two the election is the A plot. [SPEAKER_01]: It's it's the plot. [SPEAKER_02]: It's the whole episode. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, except for the parts where you have to fast forward through worrying Indian fiddling through their relationship and you're just like closing your eyes [SPEAKER_02]: There was a lot, there was a lot of fast forwarding in both of these episodes as I was kind of doing my quote-unquote research for this where I was like, oh both of these have Ikki moments because this is when like Chris and Laura Li are sitting on the couch and he says that line that you hate so much as I was fast farting though I was like, oh both of these both of these have the X factor.
[SPEAKER_02]: Nothing to do with the campaigns, but they both have the exacter. [SPEAKER_02]: But when we start off with Paris, I immediately was like, why did she decide to run? [SPEAKER_02]: Because we don't see, we like immediately jump into her giving a speech to the student body. [SPEAKER_02]: And I was like, I think it's has to do with Harvard and getting into school, but I also think it's just Paris.
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, that Paris genuinely is. [SPEAKER_02]: Like, she's a world-shaker and like her world right now is school. [SPEAKER_02]: And so she wants to better it. [SPEAKER_02]: And the promise is that she's making in this speech. [SPEAKER_02]: Honestly, I would make this school better. [SPEAKER_02]: She, I'm going to list off what she talks about.
[SPEAKER_02]: Better drinking fountains, updated lockers. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm confused what was she meant. [SPEAKER_02]: Clearly marked boys and girls' restrooms. [SPEAKER_02]: It seems like maybe they were having issues with, [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Doesn't resonate with me today, non-dairy and wheat free alternatives in the cafeteria.
[SPEAKER_02]: Very much. [SPEAKER_02]: Nights with me. [SPEAKER_02]: Larger voice and monetary dispersal of charitable funds donated to our institution. [SPEAKER_02]: And I was like, that's so fair. [SPEAKER_02]: The students should have a say in what's happening and what the school's being focused on.
[SPEAKER_02]: And then she also had a mandatory recycling initiative. [SPEAKER_02]: And I was like, Paris is really like focusing on like ways to better the school because she also quotes like JFK in hers and it just feels like she sees herself as like nixen, he were Humphrey, JFK as her peers. [SPEAKER_02]: as she's running for president.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Like she's not thinking small. [SPEAKER_02]: She's not thinking I'm a student body president. [SPEAKER_02]: She is comparing herself to presidents of the United States. [SPEAKER_01]: And like that she's never thought small when she didn't approach the editor of Franklin Franklin Franklin.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like these are not our competition. [SPEAKER_01]: These other school newspaper, the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, those are our competition. [SPEAKER_01]: Those publications are the ones we should be striving to meet and or like [SPEAKER_01]: that occasion. [SPEAKER_01]: So I think that Paris is no different here in that like now the politicians like the very iconic politicians of the past and the present are her peers.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're her contemporaries, even though they're so. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: That's just a few. [SPEAKER_02]: Say hard, so not. [SPEAKER_02]: You are no JFK, Paris Galler, but I think you could get there. [SPEAKER_02]: I think you could get there But when she ends and she said let me start tomorrow for you today There's a size Because I wanted to clap.
[SPEAKER_01]: I was like that's great. [SPEAKER_02]: That's like we got not a single person. [SPEAKER_01]: Not even Roy who was sitting out there No, I think she was just too focused on she's taking notes TV notes, but Reese and Shotsie. [SPEAKER_01]: I think her their names [SPEAKER_02]: something like that.
[SPEAKER_02]: I forget exactly exactly what paper teacher said. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but they seem a lot more likeable. [SPEAKER_01]: In fact, Madeline and Louise tell her that they are more likeable because despite the fact that Paris has good ideas, she's focused on seemingly the right things. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, we didn't hear the other two speeches.
[SPEAKER_02]: No, but we kind of like got the gist of it based on Paris's judgment of them. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but I love that we had Madeline Louise polling polling the students as they left. [SPEAKER_02]: Like she's like, they are the exact right people to be doing that. [SPEAKER_01]: I was about to say parallel the polling.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's Madeline Louise and Kirk. [SPEAKER_01]: I would never put the three of them in the same category together. [SPEAKER_01]: And yet here I am. [SPEAKER_02]: And yet, here we are doing exactly that. [SPEAKER_02]: I love the idea, though, is like, when the two of them are like, we counted, and then she points to Louise and says, she counted.
[SPEAKER_02]: And I was like, oh, she's a better counter. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, I love it. [SPEAKER_02]: I love smarty little Louise. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: She noticed I got their names, right? [SPEAKER_02]: You did. [SPEAKER_02]: Good talk to us that. [SPEAKER_01]: Very proud of you. [SPEAKER_01]: Good.
[SPEAKER_01]: But in the polling, 150 students were pulled. [SPEAKER_01]: So they're already doing better than Kirk is about to do. [SPEAKER_01]: They're already doing way better than Kirk. [SPEAKER_01]: 90% said she was qualified for the job. [SPEAKER_01]: Overwhelmingly, she was the most competent.
[SPEAKER_01]: However, the likeability factor is very low. [SPEAKER_01]: And when asked if like ability would influence their decisions, almost 100% of them said yes. [SPEAKER_02]: And she's like ability wasn't just low. [SPEAKER_02]: They saw her as scary that a Halloween mask of her would do quite well.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, and it could, but she says you would basically what she says is you would rather like the student body would rather vote for a moron that they liked over someone who can actually do the job sad but true [SPEAKER_01]: and it's fascinating that like ability really does play a role in general in our elections as a whole, I think that that has always been the case in the history of politics, but I think that in these two episodes just isolating them, that is the main factor, and for that case, she ends up finding if we're going to compare Paris and Taylor, she ends up finding the like ability factor in Rory.
[SPEAKER_01]: Taylor doesn't exactly find that. [SPEAKER_01]: No, because for the intensive purposes, he might be the right person. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he's a ballbuster. [SPEAKER_01]: He's an antagonist, but like he knows the rules. [SPEAKER_01]: He's qualified. [SPEAKER_01]: He's qualified. [SPEAKER_02]: He's confident.
[SPEAKER_02]: Is he annoying? [SPEAKER_02]: Yes. [SPEAKER_02]: 100% pulse. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes. [SPEAKER_02]: It is his manner of going about things a bit much. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Correct. [SPEAKER_02]: He's great at it, which is honestly probably why in the middle of the night, hands like exchanged roles here at the title changed because no one ever really knew why Jackson was no longer the select man.
[SPEAKER_02]: Correct. [SPEAKER_02]: That makes sense because who can do it better than Taylor turns out no one. [SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, I do like the idea that like, [SPEAKER_02]: She sees the people who are on stage who gaze to be just before her kind of laughing at her. [SPEAKER_02]: It's like, she absorbs it, shakes it in, and then she gets the polling results back.
[SPEAKER_02]: And the best part of it is she was like talking to Madden and Louise about this and it's like everything sort of a sex scandal and Madden's like, I'm on it. [SPEAKER_02]: Louise says she's on it. [SPEAKER_02]: Louise says she's on it. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Then I got it wrong.
[SPEAKER_02]: Then Madden was the one who was [SPEAKER_02]: The counter. [SPEAKER_01]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_01]: Louise was the counter. [SPEAKER_02]: Louise has blonde hair. [SPEAKER_02]: I thought Madeleine was counting. [SPEAKER_02]: I thought the one with the brown hair was counting. [SPEAKER_01]: Madeleine said, so we counted and per se as you counted she goes sheet counted about Louise.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh. [SPEAKER_01]: And then the last one. [SPEAKER_01]: I got it wrong, man. [SPEAKER_01]: And then when Madeleine. [SPEAKER_02]: No, you got it right. [SPEAKER_02]: You got it right. [SPEAKER_02]: No, I thought it was the other way around. [SPEAKER_02]: I had it wrong. [SPEAKER_02]: But because I had it wrong, I got it right.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Um, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And then I always mix them up. [SPEAKER_01]: Madeline says something like a sex scandal and Paris looks at Louise and goes, Louise, she goes, oh, I'm on it. [SPEAKER_02]: Come on. [SPEAKER_02]: Love that girl. [SPEAKER_02]: I need to put their faces on my computer and with their names under it.
[SPEAKER_02]: So that like I need to talk to my friends. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the bouquante just wear name tags. [SPEAKER_02]: I just because I always think that we should have brown hair. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, no. [SPEAKER_02]: It's just, it's just my mental block. [SPEAKER_02]: It really is. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry, girls.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry. [SPEAKER_02]: It's okay. [SPEAKER_02]: But that's when she's like, she's worried. [SPEAKER_02]: She's like, oh, okay. [SPEAKER_02]: An idea. [SPEAKER_02]: Let me see. [SPEAKER_02]: Bing Bing, like you can see the light bulb above her head, go off. [SPEAKER_02]: And she says that she should be her running mate because everyone likes her.
[SPEAKER_02]: Every little girl wants to be a vice president. [SPEAKER_01]: And she's like, not this little girl, and she says it very plain as day, like I don't want to be involved in politics. [SPEAKER_01]: I want to write about politics and that's it because she's that's why she's there. [SPEAKER_02]: She's writing about all of the speeches about the candidates for the Franklin.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, which. [SPEAKER_02]: It's really Paris that pulls her back in through the one thing that she wants, which is going to Harvard, getting into Harvard, she's like, this will help you because she's like completely turned it down. [SPEAKER_02]: She's like, I don't want to do this. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't want to be involved.
[SPEAKER_02]: She walks away. [SPEAKER_02]: And that's when Paris yells out. [SPEAKER_02]: This would look great for Harvard. [SPEAKER_02]: Harvard loves it. [SPEAKER_02]: And kind of crap. [SPEAKER_02]: This is what she says. [SPEAKER_02]: Who wanders her way back into the room, but will we go more and she's like, [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, like why didn't she think about this?
[SPEAKER_02]: Of course. [SPEAKER_02]: This is this is the one quam I really have with worry Oh, she's saying this is this hammer's in vails all over again. [SPEAKER_01]: It's like of course Don't you know of course, but to be fair since hammer's in vails. [SPEAKER_01]: She, you know now is on the paper She like went through the whole regular moral of like mother like daughter like she's been through she gets it But Paris always has to gently remind her or aggressively remind her of that There's a thing she needs to do in gentle in order to [SPEAKER_01]: Like that it would benefit her to put this on her resume.
[SPEAKER_01]: Is it for Paris? [SPEAKER_01]: Of course it is. [SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, you know, because she says it's going to soften her image. [SPEAKER_02]: And boy does it. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because people think Rosé, she says, excuse me. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm really fond of me. [SPEAKER_01]: You see, excuse me.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, okay. [SPEAKER_02]: I like that Rosé was fond of like it never occurred to you just to be nice to people. [SPEAKER_02]: And she's like, and this is why I need you. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, totally. [SPEAKER_02]: You've got these ideas. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Lauren, go more. [SPEAKER_01]: The power of a literation.
[SPEAKER_01]: So she really is a good, it really is. [SPEAKER_01]: And the button that she makes is great when she does have a gallery and go more button, a little button. [SPEAKER_02]: But a lot of this after this point takes place over the phone because it is the B-plot. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we didn't really get to see any campaigning, we didn't get to see the two of them together.
[SPEAKER_01]: That is a glaring difference between this and typical new and tailor two. [SPEAKER_01]: the A plot is the campaign and there's a really fun like signage and I love it goes with it. [SPEAKER_01]: But we didn't get to see that here and I can't get started because it was the B plot. [SPEAKER_02]: Because it was the B plot and I was like thinking about like what would I have cut from this episode in order to have more of the election because as I was like comparing it to Tip of Canoe, I really wanted more.
[SPEAKER_02]: I wanted something between worry and [SPEAKER_02]: Paris, like I don't know what that looked like in terms of the school, maybe they're like at a table together or maybe they have to give a speech together, but like I don't want to repeat what Paris did. [SPEAKER_02]: So I was like, honestly there's nowhere else for it really fits because a lot of that episode is based on Chris and Laura Lye.
[SPEAKER_02]: Personally I would cut out a lot of the Chris and put more election in. [SPEAKER_02]: But [SPEAKER_02]: Well, of course, that's kind of how it goes. [SPEAKER_01]: But we had to, it was the season we had to. [SPEAKER_01]: We're stuck with a news, it's just another episode. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, just another episode.
[SPEAKER_02]: But Paris calls, and she's kind of Verdi has her concession speech written, which is where again, the president's of the United States come into play. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: He brought Humphrey's concession speech. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: His her format for her, her conversation.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, because she likes what he said in it. [SPEAKER_01]: This is what we really know that it, [SPEAKER_01]: really defines her, whether or not this happens. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, especially because she understands that even if she wins, she only won because we're a ran with her. [SPEAKER_01]: So either way, she quote unquote loses.
[SPEAKER_02]: which is really sad for her to realize but I think it's only like in these like Paris mac and cheese moments for that really matters to her. [SPEAKER_02]: I think it's just she doesn't want to lose and like she is having that reflection of like either way she feels like she lost because we're reset but like I think when she actually wins like I don't think that that is a thought that crosses her head that like [SPEAKER_02]: crosses her mind rather than that.
[SPEAKER_02]: She only won because Vory was with her. [SPEAKER_02]: I think when she's won, she's there. [SPEAKER_02]: Nothing else matters. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: But I do love the guidance that Vory gives her because she's there to basically accost everyone before they walk into Vory and she's like leave.
[SPEAKER_02]: Like people famously don't like insane people. [SPEAKER_02]: You have to leave. [SPEAKER_02]: And she's like she doesn't wonder there. [SPEAKER_02]: And so she's kind of saving her go get coffee. [SPEAKER_02]: leave this area, leave the situation. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: But to that, it's the next scene between the two of them about the election. [SPEAKER_02]: Again, happens with a phone call. [SPEAKER_02]: And this one is even better than the last. [SPEAKER_02]: It's just even more intense Paris because she does not call Roy's house. [SPEAKER_02]: She calls Dean's phone.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, cell phone. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, my God. [SPEAKER_01]: So funny. [SPEAKER_02]: The best part is she said, how did she get this number? [SPEAKER_01]: She does not reveal her sources. [SPEAKER_01]: She does um, she just said, but I'm going to call again, but she she starts the conversation with we got the band Whichever so this like is that a reference to something?
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I know about the band But it's because they got the marching band and she said if anyone's going to find me scary It's going to be those artsy losers with a tuber wrapped around their head So she feels really confident that she has scored with other groups with other academic groups [SPEAKER_02]: And so, for her, she feels like they're in.
[SPEAKER_02]: Like the results don't seem to have come in yet, but because of that, it's like tip the scale, which is very similar to that of what happens in tip of canoe, is that they're already celebrating before the official results have come in. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Like that is kind of, there's no one's waiting for the actual [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, result, but it's it is funny that Paris is sitting there while the votes are being counted and you're like, you're like, it's this intimidation factor Paris, do you need to leave the room?
[SPEAKER_02]: A little it doesn't change the results, but I don't know that you should be there, but they find out and they're going to go to Washington, which is a big [SPEAKER_02]: the big pop point in this episode, but the effects of the election, not only are they going to govern the student body next year.
[SPEAKER_02]: I also get to go to Washington and have a grand old time. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and they implement that into the first episode of season three. [SPEAKER_01]: They have some like legitimate politicians there. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like the champions that are made. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and it goes on to like this really goes on to create the like school the high school politics with francy, which we don't love.
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Tara famously is not a francy fan. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, yeah, I, I'm not a francy fan. [SPEAKER_01]: I like francy in, like, mother-like daughter. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't... [SPEAKER_01]: But not season three. [SPEAKER_01]: The drama in season three, I just thought it was, I don't know, a little lackluster, but what it does provide for us is in the same way as that the paper becomes a point of contenting sometimes, conflict, excitement.
[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like we don't get the Franklin really as much in season three. [SPEAKER_01]: We more overget. [SPEAKER_01]: Harris being student body president and the conflict with the grants. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and all of this. [SPEAKER_02]: There's like a lot more, um, yeah, student government meetings.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, that's true. [SPEAKER_02]: That's yeah, which yeah, I actually didn't really think about that is because they all feel kind of the same because they do a wizard there for some. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: They're like, and Paris is at the home. [SPEAKER_01]: So like, yeah, kind of feel synonymous.
[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, you're right. [SPEAKER_01]: it's actually quite different and so that like we lose the paper a bit we do and we lose it too the politics of you know student government and just like yeah the politics of popularity and influence and France is kind of walking around like Queen B and trying to block mail and it's very interesting actually really like that like thinking about that because like one I like really like them being at the paper but like I kind of like the transition of that and I wish they had used it a [SPEAKER_01]: That's really what it is, is it like, I just didn't, I like the francy kind of comes in and like, fucks it up because at this point, yeah, they don't have a boy like Tristan and I guess like the great, they need a slacker.
[SPEAKER_01]: They needed another antagonist for worry and Paris, I just, yeah, which it had been done a little better and few listen to Gilmore revisit and on Patreon, you'll hear me talk about that. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we talk a lot about that a lot in season three about kind of how we wish that would have been shaped differently.
[SPEAKER_02]: I agree because I, yeah, I just really, I really, you saying it like that that I was like, oh, that could have been yeah, and so many good things to come from that, but it really just kind of ended up a little pet yeah, a little lackluster. [SPEAKER_01]: especially because in season four, and I'm sure they anticipated this, but who's to say, we don't know this is an audience yet, but in season four, both Paris and we're going to join the Yale Dilly News, and then that's going to become a setting and a like I said, it's really a source location, conflict, storyline, et cetera.
[SPEAKER_01]: throughout the rest of the series. [SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, kind of like a little bit of a break from it in season three, but a little bit, not in like a real meaningful way, but something that is meaningful that doesn't happen in typical new, but with them winning the election, they end up going to Washington, which then launches love interest for Paris.
[SPEAKER_02]: And it's like the results of her winning, like this is not, I don't think this is a very common result of winning an election that you also win a love arc, a relationship arc, but that is like where she meets Jamie and like really pushes them in that direction, has us to do the election cycle, it's not really a blood of romance that follows it, but I didn't want to mention that [SPEAKER_02]: You're so right.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I also think that the Jess Roy Dean drama would have played out very differently. [SPEAKER_01]: Had were you not been gone for the summer. [SPEAKER_02]: So I'll see that was a thing as she was like unsure about it. [SPEAKER_02]: And then she kissed Jess and she's like, I'm going, I gotta go.
[SPEAKER_01]: Bye. [SPEAKER_01]: I have to go. [SPEAKER_01]: Bye. [SPEAKER_01]: Bye. [SPEAKER_01]: So real. [SPEAKER_02]: I love that episode. [SPEAKER_01]: What I love about, you know, moving, moving into typical New and Taylor 2, I do love that the election is brought about differently. [SPEAKER_01]: It's also the A story line.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a, it's a fun episode. [SPEAKER_01]: And it's actually one that we anticipated enjoying a lot more than we did when we revisited on Gilmour revisited. [SPEAKER_01]: I was surprised. [SPEAKER_02]: It's only for one reason. [SPEAKER_01]: It's because of the Dean parts. [SPEAKER_02]: It's the Dean part.
[SPEAKER_02]: Because see, again, when I was going through this and I was fast forwarding to [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it was always the roaring Dean part so it's like okay. [SPEAKER_02]: I know no, no, no, no, I don't want this. [SPEAKER_02]: Actually as it turns out I don't want this at all. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's true.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I also do love the Zach and Lane part of the yeah, that's true because that's kind of the start of Lane having feelings for Zach. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, by starting to take shape, but he's not the election. [SPEAKER_01]: I kind of love that the first election in I can't get started is Paris seemingly running for this for the first time.
[SPEAKER_01]: I guess we don't really know if she's ever ran before she doesn't make any mention of it. [SPEAKER_01]: She's running for student body president. [SPEAKER_01]: This is kind of the representation of if Paris had been student body president all the time running on a post and someone like Rake Omar who's likable and just a person who people and honest man turned you forward to step up and say I'm finally breaking the cycle and I am going to run and that's what I love about it being a little bit different is that [SPEAKER_01]: Taylor Dosey seemingly doesn't run.
[SPEAKER_01]: He runs on a post whenever this, a lunatic comes up. [SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, now I like that, because in terms of the breakdown of the progress or the process of the election, this comes about entirely because Jackson is irritated because his property line [SPEAKER_02]: versus where he built his greenhouse is nine and a half feet when it should be ten feet based on the municipal code that is appelled by Taylor of course.
[SPEAKER_02]: And so he's like you should move at six inches and then you'll be compliant with the law. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's why I feel like Taylor and where in many ways I feel like Taylor and Paris are very, very, very, very similar in that like Paris would absolutely [SPEAKER_01]: implement this and enforce this.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, absolutely. [SPEAKER_02]: She totally wouldn't have heard such a thing. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, if she was like, what is that six inches? [SPEAKER_02]: So how far apart Emily's to candlesticks are? [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the candlesticks are, and was that Roy's birthday parties? [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but just, see, there's the problem.
[SPEAKER_02]: I hear one thing and I'm like, what is that from Yomongrol? [SPEAKER_02]: So it's a quote from Yomongrol, so it's a quote from Yomongrol. [SPEAKER_02]: But I feel like if Paris had less ambition, she would, like, slay and local politics. [SPEAKER_02]: She would be a fantastic. [SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, fantastic, probably, but, like, also, like, such a menace. [SPEAKER_02]: As Taylor is. [SPEAKER_01]: Competent. [SPEAKER_02]: Constant way that qualified, qualified. [SPEAKER_02]: Likeable, not very. [SPEAKER_01]: It's a bit of a... [SPEAKER_02]: But, to be able. [SPEAKER_02]: But, I think that he has a stronger reason for running, of course, because he wants to, like, change this.
[SPEAKER_02]: He doesn't want everyone to have to deal with this anymore. [SPEAKER_02]: Paris doesn't really have, like, a description as to why, or, like, a reasoning behind why she's running. [SPEAKER_02]: It just seems like it's for school to get into college, et cetera. [SPEAKER_02]: I think that she actually has like a real desire to change things, but also, I think she's just one's power.
[SPEAKER_01]: But when it comes at, she loves control, that girl loves control. [SPEAKER_01]: So let us tell her her name. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so they, they really like align really well. [SPEAKER_02]: But when it comes to Jackson and the campaigning for this, because like there's not like a lot of campaigning in, um, I can't get started, but she is listing out all of the things that she wants to change.
[SPEAKER_02]: The legislative changes, if, if you will, that she wants to make. [SPEAKER_02]: When it comes to typically new and tailored to and running for town select men, there is nothing that either of them are promising. [SPEAKER_02]: It is just that it is not tailored. [SPEAKER_02]: It's either tailored or not [SPEAKER_01]: literally.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's also funny because it's like, is this even time for an election? [SPEAKER_01]: Is it even time for an election? [SPEAKER_01]: Like, I know that based on when the episode airs, it's around the time for an election. [SPEAKER_01]: But it's more that the so-so, yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: I was like, huh, is it, is it, is it, I just like wish that at some point in the episode it would have been established that like, the election is coming up, he's running on a pose, like, yeah, I'm gonna run against you, but the best part is when Jackson says, I'm running for what, for whatever it is you are, what are you again?
[SPEAKER_02]: Sounds like I'm in. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm running for Townslet, like I don't even know what he's doing. [SPEAKER_02]: So, but immediately starts campaigning Jackson Bellville. [SPEAKER_02]: That's Belleville with four elves. [SPEAKER_02]: I know, we went to high school together. [SPEAKER_02]: I still need your vote.
[SPEAKER_02]: But to see that's what I'm so confused by is like, is, did Bootsie and Andrew and Luke in Jackson all go to high school together? [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_02]: That's what it seems like because Andrew and Jackson did. [SPEAKER_02]: We know Bootsie and Luke did for sure. [SPEAKER_02]: But I think that Luke and Andrew did, like I think that's reference to.
[SPEAKER_02]: I need there's this, yeah, I guess I do too. [SPEAKER_02]: I need, I need a, I need everyone's timeline. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's just hollow high as he is. [SPEAKER_02]: Like what I want. [SPEAKER_02]: Like, yeah, he immediately starts campaigning. [SPEAKER_02]: I love all the campaign slogans that come from him.
[SPEAKER_02]: Select the best, of course. [SPEAKER_02]: Select Jackson, but my favorite is Jackson for action. [SPEAKER_01]: Jackson for action is real real good. [SPEAKER_02]: Like you're not really sure. [SPEAKER_02]: Is it for like is he running for like a local election is he An action figure. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, super zero.
[SPEAKER_02]: Who's to say I like to say I [SPEAKER_01]: What I found interesting is that like you said, there's no real campaigning in the sense that there are promises being offered But there are campaign tactics in the use of David the baby David the baby immediately Taylor coming out ringing as Belleming like free ice cream for all registered voters [SPEAKER_01]: And it's like those kinds of tactics, so it's less about the promises, it's more about the optics, and it's more about like, again, that like ability factor, and I find that to be really interesting that they chose to go in that opportunity.
[SPEAKER_01]: There were no debates, there were no, like you said, like, promises or, you know, there were no smear campaigns, it was all just very simple. [SPEAKER_01]: It's literally very straightforward. [SPEAKER_02]: It's literally, do you want to vote for Taylor or do you want to vote not for Taylor in which case Taylor won't be the select one in which those are your objects.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's something different. [SPEAKER_01]: And again, this is a difference between, I can't get started and typically no Taylor two. [SPEAKER_01]: Something different than the norm is what is appealing to the town of Star's Hollow. [SPEAKER_01]: Someone different than the antagonist that Taylor has been to the town, even though [SPEAKER_01]: a fashion that garners him as much control as he can have and that pisses him off.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, because like not only is he the town's left men he's like on all of these like councils and boards and like buying on the town he's buying of the town like immediately think of as it stands about in the nuts events when he's like listing all the acronyms F i n e yes exactly exactly yeah he's very involved and i do think that's very periscolor of him to be as involved as possible for an ulterior motive for periscending into college [SPEAKER_01]: For Taylor it is having control and I do think that even when we just watched this episode recently when It's lost and found when Luke is going to get an apartment in the building the tail bones And he doesn't know he doesn't know and then Taylor tells him he's like he's literally slowly buying up the town I do and and something that Taylor says Taylorville.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, exactly But I think that something Taylor says to him is like, you know [SPEAKER_01]: It's people like you that keep this from being one of the greatest towns in America. [SPEAKER_01]: I think that that is something that's on Taylor's mind. [SPEAKER_01]: He wants to call it to be one of the greatest towns in America.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's why he wants the, you know, bike race to come through at the end of season six. [SPEAKER_01]: That's why he is so excited about taking on the festival of living pictures in the festival of living art. [SPEAKER_01]: Like he wants all of these vival. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, like when he's like all the A-list celebrities are staying someplace else.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we're getting the B-list. [SPEAKER_01]: We need the A-list. [SPEAKER_01]: He's always striving for stars hollow to be this like star for lack of a better term on the map with changing the, uh, the street names in season six. [SPEAKER_01]: It's, it's really interesting because he and Paris have very similar mindsets in like bigger, bigger, bigger, bigger, bigger, bigger, bigger, big, you know, and it is about control, but it is also about like doing something really phenomenal, like doing something very spectacular.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Very power hungry people who were very ambitious because I said a second ago that like if Paris was less ambitious, she would be in local politics, but like being in local politics, like Taylor is very ambitious. [SPEAKER_02]: He wants to get the top of that list of call of like best towns in America and he wants to start hollow right at the top.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: And we agree. [SPEAKER_02]: It is one of the best fictional towns in America I would say. [SPEAKER_02]: Ooh, that would be a fun list to make, fictional towns in America, I feel like it's always pretty high up there. [SPEAKER_01]: I feel like it probably would be number one, if not.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, number two. [SPEAKER_02]: Number one in our hearts, what would none of the other, if it's number two? [SPEAKER_01]: Number one, be other people would find sunny, sunny Dale, I don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm just like trying to think of other fictional towns. [SPEAKER_01]: Is that from Bifeys?
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, Sunnydale is the most nice. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, life size, what do you do? [SPEAKER_01]: Remember so right. [SPEAKER_01]: He's what is that one. [SPEAKER_01]: No matter where she goes, she goes, she doesn't need it all. [SPEAKER_01]: I thought so, need it all. [SPEAKER_01]: I thought so, need it all.
[SPEAKER_01]: I thought so, need it all. [SPEAKER_01]: I thought so, need it all. [SPEAKER_01]: I thought so, need it all. [SPEAKER_01]: I thought so, need it all. [SPEAKER_01]: I thought so, need it all. [SPEAKER_01]: I thought so, need it all. [SPEAKER_01]: I thought so, need it all. [SPEAKER_01]: I thought so, need it all.
[SPEAKER_01]: I thought so, need it all. [SPEAKER_01]: I thought so, need it all. [UNKNOWN]: I thought so, need it all. [UNKNOWN]: I thought so, need it all. [SPEAKER_02]: I thought so, need it all. [SPEAKER_02]: I thought so, need it all. [SPEAKER_01]: I thought so, need it all. [SPEAKER_02]: I thought so, need it all.
[SPEAKER_02]: I thought so, need it all. [SPEAKER_02]: I thought so, need it all. [SPEAKER_01]: I thought so, need [SPEAKER_01]: please start. [SPEAKER_01]: She's from Sunnyvale. [SPEAKER_01]: Sunnyvale and Sunnydale. [SPEAKER_01]: What is Sunnydale? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's Sunnydale. [SPEAKER_02]: That's so funny.
[SPEAKER_02]: That's so funny. [SPEAKER_02]: Sunnydale is Buffy. [SPEAKER_02]: Sunnyvale is Eve from life. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I heard that and I was like, wait, I know. [SPEAKER_01]: No, I'm so with you. [SPEAKER_01]: I know. [SPEAKER_01]: Tyra bangs. [SPEAKER_01]: Tyra?
[SPEAKER_01]: So we have the top three at least. [SPEAKER_01]: I think Star's Hollow would be at the top of the list though. [SPEAKER_01]: I think. [SPEAKER_01]: But I think that this episode and especially because it's a town event and it's town select men like seeing the stakes be so high for their [SPEAKER_02]: It's so it really dies, but like it's also because it's like so funny, like just like the references of like you know politicians kissing babies Holden babies like they send Davie out there.
[SPEAKER_02]: He's clapping like when Sukey's like cheering him on through the window Clap for him. [SPEAKER_02]: Clap for him. [SPEAKER_00]: And then work they like the work Don't work it really got me that really got me. [SPEAKER_02]: But then he doesn't like help him because Taylor offers free ice cream and [SPEAKER_02]: Jackson brings David back in, is like you're politically useless to me.
[SPEAKER_02]: I love that. [SPEAKER_02]: But then I just love the voting process. [SPEAKER_02]: It's like everything is so cute. [SPEAKER_02]: They spent so much money on this election. [SPEAKER_02]: They counted. [SPEAKER_02]: Like thinking about like the campaign finances for Belleville headquarters.
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, of course, that looks after he said that they couldn't be at [SPEAKER_02]: Love that and then and then like the set up for happy Leon and like the the curtains behind them. [SPEAKER_02]: I was like whoa You guys really put out all the stuff and all this teeny tiny election and but [SPEAKER_02]: Sukie's hair, makeup, outfit, love, Jackie Kennedy.
[SPEAKER_02]: She passed it back though. [SPEAKER_02]: She did. [SPEAKER_02]: She passed it in a little skirt too. [SPEAKER_01]: She looks so beautiful. [SPEAKER_01]: She's really like the role well. [SPEAKER_01]: And this is the thing is that there is a likeability factor that Jackson leans into similarly to Paris.
[SPEAKER_01]: He hasn't naturally because he's just like one of the guys. [SPEAKER_01]: He's one of like the an honest man. [SPEAKER_01]: Just love reference in that. [SPEAKER_01]: An honest man. [SPEAKER_01]: But the likability factor for him and and I I guess Taylor kind of counters us with the ice cream is his family Sukey yeah and Davy and the baby.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like let me show you how likable I am By bringing out my kid by having my wife by my side literally had to tow dress like Jackie Kennedy. [SPEAKER_01]: It's yeah [SPEAKER_01]: it's that like ability factor that is a little bit different than Taylor and then Paris because yeah Jackson wants to lean into it but Jackson doesn't necessarily need his family to win the vote.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think that just because he's not Taylor and because he's like yeah a likable guy in town. [SPEAKER_01]: I think he's got the whole end. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he's looking at his pal. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I do want to back up a second before we get to like the full voting because we did pass over the polling in this episode, which is like honestly the best because Kirk took it upon himself to poll everyone, Lorelie and Suki are really excited about this.
[SPEAKER_02]: Turns out he only pulled himself because he did the math based on the Gallup poll, but it would need like 0.002% of a person. [SPEAKER_02]: So he rounded it up to one and he pulled himself. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, thank you for coming to the top to talk to yourself. [SPEAKER_02]: That line always gets me.
[SPEAKER_02]: I love that, but I also, he was like you pulled yourself. [SPEAKER_02]: I was right there. [SPEAKER_02]: I was right there. [SPEAKER_02]: Amazing. [SPEAKER_02]: But I love that set of. [SPEAKER_02]: I didn't really like think about it until I watch these episodes sort of back to back, which I've never watched these two episodes back to back ever.
[SPEAKER_02]: I would like, like, these two. [SPEAKER_01]: I never think too. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, until this, but of course, we've met him in the Weastern, the polling, but then we have him who pulled himself, and they're like, we think we're going to need a few other people. [SPEAKER_02]: And he's like, okay, and he goes out.
[SPEAKER_02]: And it's really that that inspired him to go pull. [SPEAKER_02]: Everyone, which I just love the juxtaposition of he's like, I pulled myself. [SPEAKER_02]: He's going to win. [SPEAKER_02]: And they're like, we need a few more people. [SPEAKER_02]: So he's like, okay, I'll go pull everyone else.
[SPEAKER_01]: Totally. [SPEAKER_01]: Do you think that's something that Madeleine and Louise did in that's how Paris found out about the band? [SPEAKER_02]: That's what I thought, that I thought that they were like checking back in. [SPEAKER_02]: They were like really onto people. [SPEAKER_02]: I feel like if you need two people at school who are going to stay really on top of the status of how Paris is pulling, the aggressive nature of them together.
[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like we're actually well like Louise going up to the band members and finding out who they're voting for I low-key think that Louise could intimidate them. [SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_02]: Also like I bet she's like a cutie girl at school and they're like you should vote for Paris and they'll yeah Yeah, it's totally like charmed by her.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so I could see that as well, but that's why I imagine that she knew that [SPEAKER_02]: I agree. [SPEAKER_02]: She could have parents could have referenced them, given them credit for it, but yeah, you're about it. [SPEAKER_02]: But I do love that we get a little curve. [SPEAKER_02]: Thank you for dressing up to thank you for dressing up to talk to yourself, that really gets me.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I do love that factor because it then sends him out to come back to [SPEAKER_01]: and share with them once the voting is over or once the voting is still under commencement like you said it's not even over yet and they're celebrating because Kirk has found out that every single person in town with the exception of Taylor who he assumes is voting for himself is voting for Jackson.
[SPEAKER_01]: So hatred of Taylor in this town runs deep. [SPEAKER_01]: When he says that I was like okay like I know he's in that town I'm about to hate him. [SPEAKER_02]: But just like the implication that he's not sure that even Taylor voted for himself because the hatred for Taylor runs so deep that maybe it runs into Taylor too.
[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, so sad, but he said no one voted for him. [SPEAKER_02]: And this is when we've talked about this in the, like you mentioned, we've got ourselves a town select man with talking about Taylor and like how sad it is. [SPEAKER_02]: that he was in there with his whipped cream. [SPEAKER_02]: But we've also talked about this in terms of lore live being a good neighbor friend, because she didn't want to see him crushed to that degree.
[SPEAKER_02]: Like she has been campaigning for her friend Jackson. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: But hearing that was like really hard for her. [SPEAKER_02]: Not for Jackson or Suki though. [SPEAKER_02]: No, Suki was like, I'm going to be the first lady selectman. [SPEAKER_01]: She is so excited.
[SPEAKER_01]: Even when she hears that. [SPEAKER_01]: Taylor is sitting in the dark eating whipped cream out of a can, and it's a shame because it's really juxtaposed up against the moment that they have when they come out of the voting boots and Laura Lysuke and Brey all clearly voted for Jackson. [SPEAKER_01]: Taylor comes out and is like, I wonder who I just voted for and he shakes who he's hand and he welcomes all of this.
[SPEAKER_01]: He even does the time. [SPEAKER_01]: He's like, well, I welcome the challenge. [SPEAKER_01]: He's not being personicity about it. [SPEAKER_01]: He's not [SPEAKER_01]: Whereas Paris' edge in, I can't get started, is a little more competitive. [SPEAKER_01]: Taylor's competitive, don't give me wrong.
[SPEAKER_02]: No, he says everything along like politics is about it. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that like competition is like, if you know what I'm doing, it was. [SPEAKER_02]: The West Stone that sharpens the blade of democracy. [SPEAKER_01]: And I went till it's up to see if that was a quote by a politician to see if maybe like there was more parallel between [SPEAKER_01]: Paris and Taylor and it's not he just said it.
[SPEAKER_01]: You just said it. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's like that. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I do like when Tiki comes out and she said I voted for my husband Give me that sticker and you're like, oh, I won't do that. [SPEAKER_01]: I voted for it. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, exactly But yeah, Taylor just saved me the best man win good luck.
[SPEAKER_02]: She says you too [SPEAKER_02]: And then they move right along back to Belleville HQ, which is, in fact, Luke, after he said he would not do it, but, you know, sleeping with Luke does in fact care her perks, and this is one of them. [SPEAKER_02]: But he goes to bed, Luke's son, Luke doesn't care.
[SPEAKER_02]: That's a Luke of him. [SPEAKER_02]: And this is when Kurt comes in and tells them about the fact that he won. [SPEAKER_02]: That it pulled everyone and every single person in town was voting for Taylor or I couldn't handle this jack So she went to influence the polls She was like you have to vote for you have to vote for Taylor Jackson's gonna win, but this is about to spray can Yeah, I really cracked me up [SPEAKER_01]: She's on the boaters.
[SPEAKER_01]: She is, but I love that both Gilmore girls in these two instances of elections do get the unlikable person some votes because arguably that is probably why Paris one. [SPEAKER_01]: But I mean, yeah, it's why I also got Taylor a bunch of votes. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, the teacher was really generous.
[SPEAKER_01]: She's done her. [SPEAKER_02]: She gave them. [SPEAKER_02]: She got him 10 votes. [SPEAKER_02]: Do you think, okay, question? [SPEAKER_02]: If Lorelei hadn't voted yet, and she found this out, do you think she would have voted for Taylor? [SPEAKER_02]: Ooh. [SPEAKER_02]: That's a good question.
[SPEAKER_02]: Because she's convincing people because Jackson's already going to win. [SPEAKER_02]: And so she's like a costing Andrew, like vote for him. [SPEAKER_02]: Hmm, it's about a spray can. [SPEAKER_02]: I think Lorelei would have voted for him. [SPEAKER_02]: Do you think so? [SPEAKER_02]: because the whole thing that's Jackson still gonna win, but she doesn't want Taylor to have zero votes, or one vote, or one vote, yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, like a zero votes that's not him. [SPEAKER_02]: It's pretty easy to determine who voted for you when you voted for yourself. [SPEAKER_02]: That's so real. [SPEAKER_01]: That's so real. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_02]: I kind of want to ask our besties at.
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, yeah, you guys think that Laura would have voted for Taylor. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think so. [SPEAKER_02]: I think that you don't think so. [SPEAKER_01]: No, I think she still would have voted for Jackson, but convinced other people to vote for Taylor. [SPEAKER_02]: I kind of think that she would have voted for Taylor and told people she voted for Jackson.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's also true. [SPEAKER_02]: I could see her doing that. [SPEAKER_01]: That's so fair. [SPEAKER_02]: I would have loved to be in the booth with her when she's filled in the bubble next to Taylor Dosey. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I know like like it's like the strum strums are really stressful music playing.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, totally. [SPEAKER_01]: But something that we get in this episode that we didn't get from the election at Children is the actual reading of the results, like you said. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, 10 for Taylor Dosey and then, you know, couple thousand one thousand one hundred and fourteen for Jackson and 10 for Taylor Dosey.
[SPEAKER_02]: That's... [SPEAKER_02]: actually crazy. [SPEAKER_02]: But I like that we have like a campaign here for Jackson. [SPEAKER_02]: We have all these signs, we have all these people, Hepus playing, um, walking on air in their own version of it, which Suki is watching and befuddled by things like these.
[SPEAKER_02]: Is this that? [SPEAKER_01]: The thing about believe it or not, which is the name of the song, is it? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's called the name of the song. [SPEAKER_01]: And it's the theme song from the greatest American hero, which was a 1980s TV show, and [SPEAKER_01]: I realized that was the name of, I think it was on an album called of the same name, but I didn't realize that that was a TV show as well, so I thought that was really fascinating, because I know how Amy and Dan love to kind of like insert those kind of pop culture references, and this is a little bit of a nod to that, the greatest American hero, because it's an election.
[SPEAKER_02]: So, do you think Jackson is one of the greatest American heroes? [SPEAKER_02]: No. [SPEAKER_01]: But not, not high on the list, but I, again, I like the idea of this election rightfully so feeling very, very big for their town because it is, it's huge. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so he's always run on a somewhere like he's never had an opponent.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: And here we have. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: And they win. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: And they win. [SPEAKER_02]: And he doesn't want it. [SPEAKER_02]: But it before he even like is fully announced as the winner because like they have decided based on Kirk's polling that he did win.
[SPEAKER_02]: But he doesn't want to do this. [SPEAKER_02]: No, I can't. [SPEAKER_02]: I can't help but think I have a job. [SPEAKER_02]: Like it is whole speech cracks me up. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't want to be a select man. [SPEAKER_02]: And that's [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, an honest man. [SPEAKER_01]: I was gonna put your line.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's your favorite line. [SPEAKER_01]: Um, it's turkeyburgers very dry. [SPEAKER_01]: No. [SPEAKER_01]: An honest man. [SPEAKER_02]: An honest man. [SPEAKER_02]: Like he's like, I don't want to do this. [SPEAKER_02]: I have a family and a son and now I'm going to reveal a lot of personal information right now that we're trying to have another.
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay. [SPEAKER_02]: we're on a schedule and like I can't be your town select man and be on a schedule I'm trying to have a baby and I'm scared of you guys. [SPEAKER_02]: Sorry. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's just what you should be revealing right now, but as they say and honest man, finally and you're like, but not like this.
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if I want that kind of honesty. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: But I totally. [SPEAKER_02]: You know, so he, there's also like goes through like kind of the election process too because when Patty announces it, do you want to say anything? [SPEAKER_02]: Like the, uh, winning speech, the acceptance speech, I guess.
[SPEAKER_02]: So to say, um, and T says no, no, do you want to talk to your constituency? [SPEAKER_02]: No, no. [SPEAKER_02]: And who says he does? [SPEAKER_02]: Who does want to say something? [SPEAKER_02]: And you think it's a concession speech because he was like, [SPEAKER_02]: people have spoken in a free election, but there's has counted.
[SPEAKER_02]: And I was like, yes, it has. [SPEAKER_02]: And you really think he's about to give like a true concessions speech and tell he brings up the idea of a recall election, um, which before we got on, this is what I was looking up in my kid. [SPEAKER_02]: Um, Connecticut law does not provide, uh, for the recall election of state officials.
[SPEAKER_02]: And it doesn't say much about local elections, but the municipalities, did I say that right? [SPEAKER_02]: Municipalities of Bristol, Milford, New Haven, Stratford, and Westport allow recall. [SPEAKER_02]: But I don't know where stars hollow fits into that. [SPEAKER_02]: So I don't actually think that they can do a real call election in stars hollow.
[SPEAKER_01]: And can you, but it's justified in what a recall election is. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah, a recall election is just like a large like voice of the people who call upon a elected official to have a recall before their term is over. [SPEAKER_02]: So basically you have I guess the full term to do it, but [SPEAKER_02]: there is a certain laws in different states on whether or not you can have a recall, like in Connecticut, you can't do it for state officials, but you can do it in these small local elections.
[SPEAKER_02]: Apparently California has had the most recall elections of any state. [SPEAKER_02]: Wow, it was going on there. [SPEAKER_02]: Apparently 2021 was like the highest level of recall elections. [SPEAKER_02]: nationwide, which makes a lot of sense given 2021, yeah, for sure. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I just find it really interesting because when the next election, so to speak, not as formal as these two elections that we've discussed today, but the one that you brought up at the beginning of this episode, when that comes up in season six, when Paris is the [SPEAKER_01]: editor of the elderly news and she subsequently gets ousted.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, she conceits to the reality that no one that she, like, no one on the paper actually wants her to be the editor anymore. [SPEAKER_01]: It is kind of a recall in some ways. [SPEAKER_02]: Like, it's like a special election because she has left because like a recall is like, it's not that they have like left the office.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's that they're like, but they were training on no longer. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they weren't, they wanted to ouster, but she left, but she didn't like leaving, she left and so the spot was vacant, so would technically be a special election for the vacancy, which it might be the case where you live, maybe there's a vacancy in the special election going on, but yeah, so.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I just find that interesting like the string of elections that happen here, which are and I can't get started to pick a new inhaler too. [SPEAKER_01]: And I guess Friday nights are already verviting, you've been go word, kind of go hand in hand, that it kind of feels like one blends into like one scenario blends into the other.
[SPEAKER_01]: You've got Periscolor who is very [SPEAKER_01]: PowerHungry can, like, competent, but controlling, running for a position that she's very, very qualified for, but she doesn't have the like ability factor for the first time, and she gets elected. [SPEAKER_01]: Then you move on to Taylor, who is also very competent and not very well-liked, being in a position for a very long time where the town is craving something new, so someone else [SPEAKER_01]: volunteers runs against them and then wins and doesn't know how to necessarily do the job.
[SPEAKER_01]: So Taylor gets gets to go back in all the way to somehow. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we're again, Jerry still out on how all the way to. [SPEAKER_01]: The election that takes place within the Yale Daily News in season six where Paris was just like so unbelievable out of control And they didn't know who they wanted to elect.
[SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't about electing somebody else who was better and different. [SPEAKER_01]: It was about basically impeaching her [SPEAKER_01]: And I find that to be so interesting that throughout the course of the series, the way that they handle those elections are all very different. [SPEAKER_01]: But obviously have many, many parallels as we've discussed today.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I just love that like no one situation is necessarily exactly the same. [SPEAKER_01]: And they all kind of have a different history and inception, as you've said, and set up to the election itself. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the one that the paper in season six is just kind of like Wild I love it.
[SPEAKER_02]: I love how dramatic it is like yeah, Paris is departure where she quotes good night good luck Yes exactly leaves. [SPEAKER_02]: I love that and then how like they're [SPEAKER_02]: Like it's really pretty informal at the paper. [SPEAKER_02]: It seems like I feel like there would be like a board Feel like the school might have a say.
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't actually know. [SPEAKER_02]: I feel like I know when I talk to someone at like an Ivy paper Like how that actually goes about yeah, because they were just all in there just voting didn't seem like a ton of people But yeah, they were finally just like we've been saying these names too many times.
[SPEAKER_02]: What about Gilmore? [SPEAKER_02]: Not like that name cool. [SPEAKER_02]: We're all good with that one [SPEAKER_02]: Great, but Rory didn't do it because she was power hungry, not in the way that Taylor and Paris really are. [SPEAKER_01]: And I guess you could then parallel worry up against Jackson because Jackson's not power hungry.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's angry over something that feels like very benign and that like he has there's someone in place in this town who [SPEAKER_01]: I've used this word a lot of antagonizes them with the rules, and so he wants a new vessel. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to be the new vessel. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to be the new one.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's time for a new vessel. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to do whatever you do. [SPEAKER_02]: The only reason I feel like they're different is because one, I feel like Roy understands the position. [SPEAKER_01]: What are you? [SPEAKER_01]: She wouldn't say what are you? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't worry.
[SPEAKER_01]: Tell me understand. [SPEAKER_01]: It's just more over the she stumbles into it in a way that like she didn't they nominate her. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: And she didn't campaign for it. [SPEAKER_01]: So yes, of course, very different. [SPEAKER_01]: But I, I think she just said it's someone different.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Someone different. [SPEAKER_01]: It's someone likable. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and they do like her and that's ultimately why they do it because she like really proved herself. [SPEAKER_02]: Jackson has nothing really to prove himself that he could do this, but I think that that's like the kind of the opposite of the school action.
[SPEAKER_02]: Is that like, is he competent? [SPEAKER_02]: Probably. [SPEAKER_02]: Is he qualified? [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what the qualifications are. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's amazing. [SPEAKER_02]: Maybe not. [SPEAKER_02]: He doesn't want to, so that seems to be one again, just qualifications. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then he's just likable. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's the thing is like it is a little bit of a popularity contest when it comes to tip of canoe and tailor two. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that election is really a popularity contest and they were kind of trying to create against that and I can't get started because it could have been a popularity contest and Paris finds a way to turn that around.
[SPEAKER_02]: It was, yeah, it was, and I feel like that's funny because, like, in school, it is about popularity. [SPEAKER_02]: Like, when you go to vote, it's like, you're not looking at what your fellow students are running on. [SPEAKER_02]: Like, Paris, truly wanting to make the school better place.
[SPEAKER_02]: Everyone's going to vote for the friends. [SPEAKER_02]: And I can't, I think that's kind of what ends up happening in Rory coming in and helping her. [SPEAKER_02]: They're like, oh, Paris, she's going to be good. [SPEAKER_02]: But Rory, we really like Rory, all love her. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: And in the sense of like the typical new, which is a reference in itself, typical new and Tyler too. [SPEAKER_02]: Um, but [SPEAKER_02]: in that one. [SPEAKER_02]: It really is just that everyone's like, oh, we like Jackson. [SPEAKER_02]: We don't like Taylor, but forgetting that like the town runs as it does because no one can do it like Taylor, unfortunately.
[SPEAKER_01]: Unfortunately, yeah, and I do think that if [SPEAKER_01]: Harris had been in office and replaced with someone like the two people who were running up against her. [SPEAKER_01]: Again, I didn't hear their speeches and in here where they promised just the implication there is a third less qualified than she is.
[SPEAKER_01]: I trust Paris. [SPEAKER_01]: I think eventually she would have taken back her crown. [SPEAKER_01]: So her crown. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: So to speak. [SPEAKER_02]: Which we shall say a crown because she was like, yeah, because in the election, yeah, exactly. [SPEAKER_02]: But for all intents and purposes for Paris, I feel like she does feel like the queen of.
[SPEAKER_02]: Queen of Shilton. [SPEAKER_02]: But that is like something that like not to harp on this because we don't really love the story line in season three. [SPEAKER_02]: It really does feel like two queen bees fighting it to each other. [SPEAKER_02]: Like it feels like a gossip girl, like who's going to come out on top.
[SPEAKER_01]: But like, it's not really 100%. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm not really sure what direction they took there. [SPEAKER_02]: But regardless, I love the election and I can't get started. [SPEAKER_02]: What if one had more of it? [SPEAKER_02]: If we could like balance more of this and less Chris, I think that.
[SPEAKER_02]: a best episode. [SPEAKER_02]: But we did rank. [SPEAKER_02]: I can't get started rather high. [SPEAKER_01]: We did. [SPEAKER_01]: It's a really, really good episode. [SPEAKER_01]: Would you have wanted anything more from the election in season five that would have mean? [SPEAKER_01]: Is it really the Dean parts that made us not love the episode?
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, what would you have wanted more from the election? [UNKNOWN]: Um, [SPEAKER_02]: I think I would have loved to debate between them. [SPEAKER_02]: You mentioning that, like, oh my gosh. [SPEAKER_02]: Like, I think that that would have really come down to like what Martin Louise were talking about, like qualified competency, like ability.
[SPEAKER_02]: I think putting that to the test and to debate between the two of them. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what they're debating. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, because like it kind of feels like they tried to give us a taste of that in their back and forth at the town meeting, yeah, it wasn't a true debate, but I think that that was like supplementing a debate, you know, it's in it's in it's in its place because like, [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, what are you?
[SPEAKER_02]: What are you? [SPEAKER_02]: What are you? [SPEAKER_02]: I'm running for town selectment. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: I just love the, I'm running for what? [SPEAKER_02]: So fair. [SPEAKER_02]: So yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: But I would have loved to have them up in front of like have another town meeting.
[SPEAKER_02]: I think that would have been so fine. [SPEAKER_02]: I think that it would have given us an idea of what they were running on rather than just like Taylor and Aunt Taylor really was the issues at hand. [SPEAKER_02]: Totally big ticket issues, big ticket issues. [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, it is very fun to kind of, you know, measure these episodes up against each other in regards to the election themselves, because it's never would have died.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, same, because it is really, it is really cool the way that they wrote these elections in that, like, the stakes feel high within the conference of the episode, but, you know, zooming out, still play into the comfort show [SPEAKER_02]: you know, yeah, couldn't be lower. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, high stakes couldn't be lower.
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, which is really paraskeller and a nutshell. [SPEAKER_02]: And Taylor, like I, I guess this episode really made me like reflect on just how closely aligned the two of them are in very different ways. [SPEAKER_02]: Like it's like, it takes me back to um, what's the episode where Paris comes to town?
[SPEAKER_02]: and the censorship episode, Richard and Star's Hollow. [SPEAKER_02]: Richard and Star's Hollow, yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: And, um, oh yeah, yeah, because she can't, she can't see Richard after school. [SPEAKER_02]: Um, she comes to the video store and she wants to write about censorship and Star's Hollow.
[SPEAKER_02]: So I feel like that's like the, they would vary on their opinions on things, but total execution, very similar those two. [SPEAKER_01]: Very, very similar to compare them, but [SPEAKER_01]: Here we are. [SPEAKER_01]: But it makes a lot of sense. [SPEAKER_01]: They do have similar qualities within them.
[SPEAKER_01]: That put them in the positions that they exist in. [SPEAKER_01]: And again, things that kind of define their characters and their self-worth to who they are within the narrative. [SPEAKER_01]: Who do you think would come out on top and a debate between the two of them? [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, God.
[SPEAKER_01]: That would be so fun to watch. [SPEAKER_02]: That would be, that would be great. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't mind a feeling of to see [SPEAKER_01]: I'd love to see either of them win, because it would be really fun to have Taylor all flustered over a girl that's half his age, like debating him, but then it would also be really fun to have Taylor kind of like sass his way through a, uh, or like, weird way.
[SPEAKER_02]: His, like quote, the municipal code through a debate. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: So the thing is, like, Paris isn't coming on prepared. [SPEAKER_02]: I feel like both of them would be extremely prepared. [SPEAKER_02]: I do think the Paris would flustered Taylor more than Taylor would flustered Paris.
[SPEAKER_02]: I agree. [SPEAKER_02]: I personally think Paris would come out on top just because she's too vicious, not to win. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: No, I totally agree. [SPEAKER_01]: I would love to see it, though. [SPEAKER_01]: And I think that Taylor would respect her for it. [SPEAKER_01]: Like I think he'd go up afterwards and shake her hand.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I think she would have fun. [SPEAKER_01]: And she would treat it the same way that Taylor kind of did with like, I accept the challenge. [SPEAKER_01]: Let's do it. [SPEAKER_01]: I think, I don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think so. [SPEAKER_01]: I think Paris would be like, I smashed him.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he would be whipped creaming into the mouth. [SPEAKER_02]: spray whipped cream afterwards. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: That all over again. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: I just love it. [SPEAKER_02]: It's just love when she walks up to Andrews. [SPEAKER_02]: It involves a spray can.
[SPEAKER_01]: But as we mentioned, it's luck and day. [SPEAKER_01]: So make sure you get out there and vote if [SPEAKER_01]: you know exercise your right to vote if there are elections happening in your local town or your city or you know as Haley said to be getting just like survey what's going on in your local area and make sure that you get involved because it is yeah important it's not always just the big ones not just a bunch of ones of course matters yeah it's not involved in your town you gotta vote in or out your local tether dosies is really really what it's about it's true um [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, well, it's not the end of it.
[SPEAKER_02]: So you will have this into already. [SPEAKER_02]: But maybe now this episode is over. [SPEAKER_02]: You can listen to it again or maybe catch up on some other episodes. [SPEAKER_02]: Go listen to Gilmore to read what have you. [SPEAKER_02]: You go. [SPEAKER_02]: It's just head over to your polling place.
[SPEAKER_02]: Which I actually think is like one of my favorite illiterations. [SPEAKER_02]: Um, I don't know why. [SPEAKER_02]: I love I love pulling place. [SPEAKER_02]: There's must be the polling place. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_02]: Gilmore girls polling place. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_01]: I love it. [SPEAKER_01]: So cute. [SPEAKER_01]: But it's speaking of Richard and stars hollow. [SPEAKER_01]: There's nothing that quite says I am an auto more than Richard because he says it. [SPEAKER_01]: He did say that. [SPEAKER_02]: And it's being of saying things though. [SPEAKER_02]: One of the things that we've talked about the most in Gilmouray visited and on Gilmouray to say, [SPEAKER_02]: is that there are a lot of things that Laura like could have said about Richard and the revival because he's such a dynamic character, such an interesting father to her and there is a lot more that she could have said about him to her mother and we'll have more to say on that in the next episode.
