[SPEAKER_00]: We're doing a little Gilmore to say many episode today because of course we had to talk about this in case you missed it. [SPEAKER_00]: We are going to be interviewing Kelly Bishop.

[SPEAKER_00]: with Kelly Bishop for her paperback release of the third-scale morgue roll in September and we just announced it on Monday and we had to talk about it. [SPEAKER_01]: We couldn't wait to wait to tell you guys because we had already recorded all of our episodes up until like the beginning of August so we had to come in with our breaking news because this feels like a big this is kind of Earthquake in the GTS [SPEAKER_01]: universe without actually being a real earthquake which happened a couple weeks ago This feels bigger than that that we just wanted to come tell you guys about it because it's like There was a lot of questions in the Instagram They're like what is going on you guys said you didn't have any Gilmore girls plans So we figured we had come and tell you all about how it came about and some details on how you can come

[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, serious. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: So many, so many of our listeners, but also a lot of my friends were like, I just want my ticket.

[SPEAKER_01]: Which like literally the only time of ever seen Kayla, I've been on stage. [SPEAKER_01]: And so we were like joking, I was like this is really literally like I was like so funny.

1:46 [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so feels. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, she just sees all her friends when she's on stage. [SPEAKER_00]: Wow. [SPEAKER_01]: She's so busy. [SPEAKER_00]: You are Taylor Swift. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, because she was like, can I get VIP tent for Kelly Bishop? [SPEAKER_01]: I was like, yes, we'll see you right next to Travis Kelsey.

[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, this is a big lesson in manifesting my friends because [SPEAKER_00]: We, of course, had the distinct honor of being able to talk to Kelly on the carpet in March of 2025 last year for Paley Fest, but also, we were invited to the conversation she ended up having with Lauren Graham at the 92nd Street Y back in September of 2024 when 3rd Gilmour girl first released in hardcover.

2:27 [SPEAKER_00]: And that was such a magical night. [SPEAKER_00]: I really wish you had been there with me. [SPEAKER_01]: I know, I actually looking back on my go so silly that we didn't [SPEAKER_01]: It was, it was, it was, but it was something expensive. [SPEAKER_00]: It's actually expensive to live and then to go live your life somewhere else briefly on a trip.

2:47 [SPEAKER_00]: But we should have just made it happen, you know, I know, in hindsight. [SPEAKER_00]: But it's, it's such a cool thing to think that we were like, you were there with me in spirit, but sitting in the audience of this first conversation, not knowing that two years later, we would be moderating absolutely insane.

3:02 [SPEAKER_00]: The next conversation, which is really, really cool. [SPEAKER_00]: So, [SPEAKER_00]: Of course, because we've had a couple of opportunities to, you know, be in the room where it happens and even be on the carpet where we could talk to her, we really wanted to have Kelly come on the podcast this year, but we weren't sure.

3:15 [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, like it's always such a dream, right? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's like in like reaching out, like you never know what's going to happen. [SPEAKER_01]: Like yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: like whether or not it's going to fall on even fall on the right day, you know? [SPEAKER_01]: Like I find that like if I'm quite busy and someone asks me to do something not today in the future I'm like I don't think that's going to work.

3:33 [SPEAKER_00]: I know I just end the rain space. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't have the rain space so I'm going to say no but then coming back to it. [SPEAKER_01]: It's like oh that actually might have worked out but so it's just a hit or miss whether that whether or not that's going to happen but Tara who immediately after we learn new says I just need to say more [SPEAKER_01]: Because she had said, like, should we reach out about being a part of her tour and like having like experience on the author side of it, it's usually like the author or their team at the publisher who is kind of deciding who their conversation partner is.

4:04 [SPEAKER_01]: And I assumed because it was announced. [SPEAKER_01]: they had already decided it, because that's usually the way of it. [SPEAKER_01]: They announced the date, still announced the moderator, or they'll do it in tandem, but little did we know. [SPEAKER_01]: Because we had reached out about, you know, of course, like having her on the podcast and conjunction with her, having released the paperback, which the cover, [SPEAKER_01]: beautiful stunning like this photo to the green.

4:30 [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, she looks so weird. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, she's not beautiful original cop that green. [SPEAKER_01]: There's something about with that red hair that just like stunning stunning and to be reached out about it, not sure what we were going to hear back and there was like a maybe it seemed like it was like yeah, I know she's doing press for this, you know, maybe we could arrange something where she could come on the podcast and even just the possibility of that was really exciting.

4:51 [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe it was [SPEAKER_00]: really exciting. [SPEAKER_00]: Even though it was really, really nice. [SPEAKER_01]: But we also have to mention that earlier when we did our summer check-in kind of like revealing what we were going to do for the fall and we were teasing y'all about something and we said it wasn't any of the Gilmore girls.

5:05 [SPEAKER_01]: That still was true at that point in time. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but it's really funny because there was a moment and our editor cut it where I was like, do we want to say that? [SPEAKER_00]: Because what if like this thing with Kelly? [SPEAKER_00]: What if it happens? [SPEAKER_01]: And it was like, but like, it hasn't.

5:18 [SPEAKER_01]: So like, at that point in time, we were like, this is not how, like, we don't have, we don't have Gilmour rolls. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, at that time, we didn't. [SPEAKER_00]: And so everyone was like, layers, like, it felt like a, Elwood's throwing chocolate with fire. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and it wasn't because like if this came together quite quickly because I think that like it was early the week before that we had reached out about it And this was because we saw that Haley has been talking about this honestly for two years She's like at some point the paper back is gonna come out now [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, okay, it really like truly win the hearts back.

5:50 [SPEAKER_01]: Well, when the heart back came out, I knew that like it was probably such a big splash She had so many places she had to go in terms of media and terms of press and like of course Lauren Graham joined her like all of the the guests that she like met with or had on her tour [SPEAKER_01]: just felt like such a big splash for a hardback for like the first release of it.

6:10 [SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, they're going to do a paperback and I just knew it. [SPEAKER_01]: And so I had been following up about it because I was like convinced that we could like make the paperback. [SPEAKER_01]: Like we were we weren't hardcover. [SPEAKER_01]: We weren't hardcover. [SPEAKER_01]: We are paperback.

6:23 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, for sure, for sure, totally. [SPEAKER_00]: And so when we saw that on Instagram, I sent it to you and I was like, hey, this might be really good on our paperback. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a girl. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, I've fastened the relation. [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe we should go hot in the ring to be the moderators of the conversation that's happening in Long Island and that's when you were like, no, they definitely already have somebody.

6:43 [SPEAKER_01]: They're like doing it in house like they're going to decide which is what happened. [SPEAKER_01]: Is what happened. [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly what happened. [SPEAKER_00]: Luckily with all of the connections that Haley's made through Gilmour to Read, we were able to connect with gallery books, which is the publisher of Kelly's book, and that's how we were invited to the third Gilmour girl conversation at the 90s second street wide with Lauren.

7:02 [SPEAKER_00]: And so we reached out and we were like, hey, you know, as Haley mentioned, you know, if there's any opportunity while she's doing press for us to cover in a conversation with her, the paperback release, and we got a maybe, and then maybe love a [SPEAKER_00]: And to be honest with you, I didn't completely forget about it, but we were together in Florida last week, and we were waiting in line.

7:25 [SPEAKER_00]: I forgot about it. [SPEAKER_00]: Winnie the Pooh. [SPEAKER_00]: And we were in the UK. [SPEAKER_01]: We were brought. [SPEAKER_00]: We were down to business. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_00]: We had some very important business matters to do. [SPEAKER_01]: We had very important business matters.

7:37 [SPEAKER_01]: We had just purchased some tea in the UK. [SPEAKER_01]: And then we saw the line was short to meet Winnie the Pooh. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And we said, you know what? [SPEAKER_01]: Why not? [SPEAKER_01]: Let's go stand in line. [SPEAKER_00]: It was going to start raining too.

7:51 [SPEAKER_00]: It did. [SPEAKER_00]: We were like, okay, let's take cover under this awning. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm also meeting Winnie the Pooh. [SPEAKER_00]: And as we're standing in line, I got the email. [SPEAKER_00]: And I... She's our panicking. [SPEAKER_00]: She didn't say words.

8:01 [SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't say it was panicking, I was excited. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no, no, that's what I mean, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: It was more of just, like, romantic excitement. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they exist on the same plane sometimes, not the bathroom. [SPEAKER_01]: It was more of like a, I got something, yeah.

8:15 [SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, what, what do you, what do you want? [SPEAKER_00]: I was like, haily, and I just shoved my phone in her face. [SPEAKER_00]: And then we showed it to your mom. [SPEAKER_00]: You didn't say anything, you went white as ghosts. [SPEAKER_00]: You were just like stone. [SPEAKER_01]: This was like really like the epitome of me and Tara and like our differences as Tara went and immediately sky high excitement.

8:37 [SPEAKER_01]: I went down to the ground unable to process it and just rejected it from my brain entirely. [SPEAKER_00]: It was missing, I think the excitement was of course about what we're about to do. [SPEAKER_00]: It also came from the fact that I was like, I said we should do this, and it was like manifesting, this is the second major thing I've manifested for us this year, y'all.

8:56 [SPEAKER_00]: And the first thing is kind of what we were referencing in our, what was it summer check-in? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but I will say I will say this goes back to that saying that I was saying is like you're not delusional like you have worked hard for the things you're manifesting and the things that you're manifesting you're not delusional to think about it because you have put in the work to manifest such things.

9:17 [SPEAKER_00]: And we've told ourselves we have to be a little more delusional sometimes. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because we're not being delusional. [SPEAKER_01]: Like when we have to step into delusions sometimes, because I think it kind of gives you that. [SPEAKER_01]: You have that agency to kind of like dream beyond what you think that you're capable of.

9:32 [SPEAKER_01]: Because you're actually capable of it. [SPEAKER_01]: Because you've put in the work to be that delusional. [SPEAKER_01]: And it's not delusional at all, but you got to kind of trick your brain a little bit. [SPEAKER_01]: Totally. [SPEAKER_00]: Because you put them again. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

9:40 [SPEAKER_00]: And so we were so honored that gallery books asked us to do this. [SPEAKER_00]: And we were so excited in two very different ways. [SPEAKER_00]: I remember I showed it to your mom your mom your mom's eyes got so big and she's just looking at us. [SPEAKER_01]: No. [SPEAKER_00]: It was just so funny because I was just like I was like grabbing your arm.

9:59 [SPEAKER_01]: I was like can you believe this and you were like Like I have to meet when he'd the poo and then I could just think you know like I was just like I was like step one Meet when he'd the poo because like in my mind I was like already racing through a hundred different things Like you've never met him before step one step one.

10:13 [SPEAKER_01]: No, I'm in the line I have an I've a task and I can't I can't super seed the task But I like kind of in my mind as I was running through things. [SPEAKER_01]: It's like okay, so we're in line to meet Kelly Bishop [SPEAKER_01]: Walked in. [SPEAKER_01]: Kelly Bishop was yellow and she was wearing a red crop top.

10:27 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I know. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: That's kind of bad. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, Tara actually was matching in that in that moment But I was wearing hands. [SPEAKER_01]: I wanted to lean over to to when you the poon be like we're gonna talk to Kelly Do you have Gilmore girls in the hundred acre wood like that was like what I was going through my mind because I was like hello as like hello person inside this suit [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, come on girls fan, because this would be cool that's what was going through my mind like reading over to their to their mouth ear rather than to your top of his head.

10:58 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I love inside there [SPEAKER_00]: It's all like I think about it, it's just me and like hello. [SPEAKER_01]: Is there anyone in there? [SPEAKER_00]: Is there anything in there? [SPEAKER_00]: Do you like a familiar with Star's Hollow? [SPEAKER_01]: Are you familiar? [SPEAKER_00]: Yes.

11:13 [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: But it's also quite funny in like ironic in the sense of like the two of us because we reference when you're the poo all the time. [SPEAKER_01]: Like go to your like thinking spot or like thinking thinking think we always reference the spare. [SPEAKER_01]: And so the fact that it was that bear.

11:29 [SPEAKER_01]: This bear also say this man was like he's a bear. [SPEAKER_01]: No, he's a bear. [SPEAKER_01]: He's a bear that witty and so it just felt also very appropriate Given like our conversations that this was the person we were sharing this moment with Not person this was the bear we were sharing the moment with you always he's a bear sharing the moment The fact that we got this email while we were together together so major I know we are never really together [SPEAKER_00]: So we're about to be together a lot.

11:58 [SPEAKER_01]: We're about to be together a lot in the next and I just can't believe it's for Kelly and the thing is is Like I do sometimes back up because someone messaged me and they were like Gilmore Grelly girl would have never imagined this Like going back to my TikTok days and like I never thought that that's like where all of this was headed But I when things like this happen.

12:17 [SPEAKER_01]: I do have to step back and be like we've put in so much work over the past four to half years [SPEAKER_01]: like between like everything we've done in the podcast and with Gilmour to read and just like uplifting the book community but also just like creating this community of Gilmour girls lovers and to have this like convergence of our paths in this moment.

12:36 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm like yes. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, and so like I don't ever want to say like that this is something that like I expected in any way But I'm just like we worked hard for moments like this Biomagical yeah, and that's that's how I feel like at the same time. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm like how did this happen?

12:52 [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, do you know who do you have the right email? [SPEAKER_01]: I know you said my name by Did you mean to send this to I don't know someone else? [SPEAKER_00]: English Macintosh? [SPEAKER_01]: It's just my health, yes, of course. [SPEAKER_01]: Not much, mainly. [SPEAKER_01]: It's mainly.

13:06 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: It's very cool. [SPEAKER_00]: And you guys, the love that we've received from all of you has just been like, I was reading through the comments last night and I was getting so emotional because so many of y'all have been on this ride with us since the very beginning.

13:20 [SPEAKER_00]: And you know, you're a major reason why we're able to have the conversations that we do and the opportunities that we do. [SPEAKER_00]: And so it was just really special. [SPEAKER_01]: and especially because a lot of the comments were reminding us that at the beginning of every year the end of the year when we're like, what do we want to happen this year?

13:34 [SPEAKER_01]: What's going to happen now like you're going to say? [SPEAKER_00]: And then this year that could potentially top last year because last year a paleofus was so huge so bad. [SPEAKER_00]: And also it's around to this time every year. [SPEAKER_00]: I think I was talking about this in our end of the year roundup art, our Gilmour say wrapped that I was like, [SPEAKER_00]: Wow, like it's this time of year that I generally get to like I went I got to go to the Emmys in 2022 and and 2025 and there was like a Gilmore girls moment there are both times Yeah, the third Gilmore girl 90 second tree.

14:01 [SPEAKER_00]: Why was September of 2024? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and someone commented and was like, it's that time of year Really? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, board like it's like there's it's that magic thing that you can never predict that just comes your way and yeah, that was that feels like this Yeah, no, and I just was like oh my gosh [SPEAKER_00]: Incredible.

14:19 [SPEAKER_00]: It's surreal. [SPEAKER_00]: And every time I think a little too hard about it, I'm like, oh my god, my god, it's going to happen. [SPEAKER_00]: I know for now I'm just basking in like the excitement of it. [SPEAKER_00]: But we are going to have to actually sit down and plot out this conversation.

14:31 [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm so excited to do so. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And it's just so wild to me. [SPEAKER_01]: So my third time moderating a book event is with Kelly Bishop. [SPEAKER_00]: Good work girl. [SPEAKER_01]: The third, Gilmour Girl, the third time. [SPEAKER_01]: And you know three is my number.

[SPEAKER_00]: The other thing that a lot of people have asked is if this is going to be recorded for release on our podcast and that has been talked about, we don't have confirmation yet, but that has been kind of, that's been a conversation.

16:51 [SPEAKER_00]: We don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: It's the hope, we don't know what the logistics are, we don't know what the rules are. [SPEAKER_00]: We might have more information about that as far as digital tickets, that's a lot something we can answer to right now. [SPEAKER_00]: As of now, it is just strict.

17:03 [SPEAKER_01]: It is just in person tickets to get the book and to see the conversation come to the event. [SPEAKER_01]: We hope that we'll be able to record it for the podcast. [SPEAKER_01]: But as far as anything else goes, that is the extent of what we know about the event.
