Hey, nice job by the folks at Cleveland.com. They talked about that Halloween candy that none of us liked growing up as kids. Hello, I'm Johnny Mac with five good news stories. Remember those odd looking candies? They were orange and black taffies with like a peanut butter center and no brand name on the wrapper and nobody liked them.

They're called Peanut Butter Kisses. They were originally named Mary Jane Peanut Butter Kisses, and they've been absent from store shelves for years because the companies that made them didn't do so well because we didn't like the candy. The Charles N. Miller Company was bought by the New England Candy Company in 1990, which temporarily kept the brand alive.

Then in 2018, the New England Candy Company declared bankruptcy. No more terrible candies. The original recipe featured a molasses-based taffy. Today's version includes artificial colors. If you really want one, you can go to Milster Candies. They are the sole producer of peanut butter kisses, and they sell them online at a premium. No thanks. All the businesses are getting in on this Halloween stuff. Every coffee chain's doing something wacky with the drinks. Well, it's sneaker time as well.

Every October, Nike and the Jordan brand come up with some Halloween sneakers. One of the models this year is the Nike 12 Time. It ditches a zombie theme this year for a more family-friendly take on the holiday. The shoe is cast in black and gray with pumpkin orange hues on the swoosh and the sock liner. Caitlin Clark is also in on this trend. The Nike Caitlin 1 Halloween features a black OptiCast upper featuring Mini 22 and CC nubs across the upper. Sneakerheads know what I'm talking about.

I'm reading the sentence. I barely know what I'm talking about. Accenting the dark hits are ghost green details on two of the stacked swoosh logos. and Caitlin Clark's CC logo on the tongue. Below sits a glow-in-the-dark outsole. There's also the Nike Sabrina 4. That comes in a vampire-inspired colorway.

That pair of sneakers is primarily coated in black, with blood red dripping on the back half of the swoosh. Darker red is located on the sock liner, which sits near a vampiric caricature of Sabrina Ionescu on the insole, finishing the sole. There's a black midsole with blood spatter throughout. How about Devin Booker's Nike Book 1 Halloween? That took inspiration from The Nightmare Before Christmas. Well, now there's the Nike Book 2 for Halloween with the cream white upper mimicking the burlap look of the monster. Frankenstein-esque stitching details and reworked book branding on the tongue aid in the Halloween-ready look. Let's do one more. Kevin Durant's Nike KD18 used a skeleton theme for its Halloween colorway, but in 2026,

the KD19 is rendered in a pumpkin orange. In New York City, Mayor Zoran Mamdani and the Parks Commissioner are inviting New Yorkers of all ages to celebrate the season with a series of free, family-friendly fall festivals. Say that one time fast. I stumbled. That was take two. And Halloween events across the five boroughs throughout October. Rec centers and parks will transform into festive fall destinations featuring haunted houses, pumpkin patches, obstacle courses, face painting, seasonal crafts, music, games, and more. The mayor also announced the return of Trick or Streets. 160 car-free open streets and plazas across the five boroughs set to host Halloween and fall celebrations throughout

the month. The mayor said it's no trick. Spooky season is taking over parks and rec centers across our city this month. Fall is one of the best times to get outside and enjoy everything our parks and rec centers have to offer, says the parks commissioner. That is true. October in the New York City area is awesome. In Manhattan, on Friday of this week, there's a Fright Walk from 4 to 7 p.m., and the Fall Festival and Fright Walk is on Saturday from noon to 3. Let's head on down to Florida, where they've got game. Fright Nights, the award-winning attraction, and their so-called family of freaks have three new haunted houses this season, including Route 66, The Slaughter, Cuckoo's Nest, and Edward Lowe. You'll find this at the

South Florida Fairgrounds. You can try the menu featuring the Scream Snack, which is tater tots and fried pickles topped with roasted garlic, sriracha, and green onions. That sounds pretty good. How about the Bat Breath Burger? Maybe you'd prefer a smoked walking dead leg, a poison apple slushie, or a black cat margarita. Two scare zones include Vampire's Eternal Love and the Weeping Woods. That'll keep you on edge. And the folks at Pepsi want us to know they didn't forget about Halloween. They're in on this, too. They have limited time flavors, theme snacks and treat size packs. They want us to know about the Starbucks pumpkin spice frappuccino chilled coffee drink. Zero added sugar. Boy, that was a mouthful.

And I don't mean the coffee. They also have the Cheetos Bag of Bones with skeleton-shaped pieces for the holiday, available in two flavors, white cheddar and cinnamon sugar. Cinnamon sugar Cheetos? Hmm. How about Cheetos Sweet Phantom Heat? Flavored puffs? Those bring another kind of surprise. That starts with cinnamon sugar notes, then adds heat, tingling, and a subtle fizz, we're told. The result adds an unexpected option to a late-night horror movie lineup or a Halloween party table with a few bolder choices. And my dog is here. Does that mean you want to go out or you just liked what I was talking about? She's licking the printer.

No idea why. Those are your five good news stories for today. See you tomorrow.
