[SPEAKER_00]: Hello and welcome to the Homestream podcast, my name is Roman, as usual, I'm joined with my friend Phil. [SPEAKER_00]: Hey Phil. [SPEAKER_01]: Hey, we're on fire going. [SPEAKER_00]: Good. [SPEAKER_00]: Before we get started, if you have to click word from our sponsor, Homestream Cloud by an Apple Cossack.

[SPEAKER_00]: Sign up, flip a switch, done, and you can access your home system from anywhere. [SPEAKER_00]: What's more is you also get secure opposite backups, the voice control with the Amazon network, with home devices, and the ability to superjards your DIY voice assistant.

[SPEAKER_00]: Here's the part we love. [SPEAKER_00]: The subscription pays the developers behind home [SPEAKER_00]: It's the best few dollars a month you'll spend on your smartphone, start your 31-day trial today. [SPEAKER_00]: Just open your home assistant settings, go to cloud page or sign up at nalbucasite.com.

[SPEAKER_00]: We'll need the link in the description. [SPEAKER_00]: This episode is also sponsored by our friends at Apollo Automation, makers of open-source smart home sensors built for the home assistant ecosystem. [SPEAKER_00]: their official open home foundation, commercial partner, and their devices have dealt with local control, privacy, and reliability in mind.

[SPEAKER_00]: Almost everything they offer is a works with homosystem and made for ESP Home Certified, giving you full control and flexibility right outside the box. [SPEAKER_00]: And if that's apparent, they build in the open, working directly with the community to create sensors that people actually need.

[SPEAKER_00]: If you're deep into homosystem or just get excited, definitely check them [SPEAKER_00]: Man, my center stage is happening just a heyday today going up and down and up and down, looking down. [SPEAKER_00]: So as you probably noticed, this is the typical view that you usually see, and I think the last two episodes we've recorded in the metrics, it's coming out before, after this episode, I have not been in my house, so suspicious a little bit there.

[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, long and short of it, I move it. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, so because of that, we're in the middle of setting stuff up. [SPEAKER_00]: My camera is put away. [SPEAKER_00]: My mic is put away. [SPEAKER_00]: And if I'm talking on my air, I air point throws, or Maxis, whatever, um, yeah, so Phil thought, you know, it'd be interesting to judge me and question me on it a bit of a bit of a change.

[SPEAKER_01]: First of all, congratulations on the news. [SPEAKER_01]: Um, it is a, it's going to be a big change for the family, right? [SPEAKER_01]: Like you're getting a whole new house. [SPEAKER_01]: Um, so yeah, so that's, you know, a big move. [SPEAKER_01]: So congratulations on that. [SPEAKER_01]: Um, so I guess just to catch people up, uh, where you're on down.

[SPEAKER_01]: So the current house that you're, you've been recording from. [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, I think I don't think you've always been in this house, right? [SPEAKER_01]: Um, since we started the podcast. [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, the podcast. [SPEAKER_01]: own that house, right? [SPEAKER_01]: You're renting, you've, yeah, capacity, capacity, capacity.

[SPEAKER_01]: So you're moving out of that house. [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, and when you're house, you're moving into a bigger home, smaller homes, you're upgrading, like it's weird. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a little bit bigger. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, it's got a bit more. [SPEAKER_00]: land, which is kind of what we wanted, but it's not anything like again, we're in a bundle right now, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: So we just wanted a little more space, so we said, okay, especially as our kid is growing up, he's using a lot of space. [SPEAKER_00]: So it's, yeah, so we went into a little bit bigger of a space, okay, I'm just going to turn [SPEAKER_00]: frustrating, but there you go. [SPEAKER_00]: You can see the whole thing now.

[SPEAKER_01]: We can see that the gold, the glory of your house. [SPEAKER_01]: So the room you're recording in now, this is where house has always been recorded in, just a little bit empty. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, I mean, well, always I moved from the basement at some point up there. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I was thinking, did I start up here?

[SPEAKER_00]: I managed to start it up here and then gone down the basement and then come back up here at some point. [SPEAKER_00]: something like that. [SPEAKER_00]: I got to look at we didn't even have video in the first few in the first bunch of episodes. [SPEAKER_00]: But I think since we've done video I've been in this room in this in this room maybe a little bit in the basement.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but then we repainted and stuff to bathe. [SPEAKER_00]: I'll did all that stuff in the basement before my kid was born. [SPEAKER_00]: So, I should much before that. [SPEAKER_00]: So maybe, yeah, a little bit. [SPEAKER_00]: So, but probably hasn't come on the podcast, [SPEAKER_01]: So I guess from a home assistant perspective now, you've been living in the home for quite a few years, you've been doing a lot of tinkering in the home, I know, like, as you do, right?

[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you've got to serve a rack somewhere, doing all of your, uh, I'm lab stuff. [SPEAKER_01]: In terms of, like, I guess before we get into the actual physical move of your smart home, the things that you've added to your home over the years, like, I think you've got neutron in some places, uh, some old smart things around the place.

[SPEAKER_01]: What's the go with those? [SPEAKER_01]: Like, were you planning to one day up the, up and move to a different house or the things that you put in the home over those years with a sort of like a, you thought of that as a permanent [SPEAKER_00]: Um, the truth is I haven't thought about that at all when I did I give this, but kind of what I settled on is I'm going to leave all the lights which is in the wall which is It hurts because those are not cheap again.

[SPEAKER_00]: I paid for all of it myself minus maybe I think two switches that we transcend me and and someone else sent me a couple switches as well. [SPEAKER_00]: So maybe I'm excited [SPEAKER_00]: five of the switches, but pretty much every light switch minus two closets and my patio like the dark yard light.

[SPEAKER_00]: So I set up those three and I have an unfinished part of my basement here as well. [SPEAKER_00]: I have set up four light switches, pretty much everything is the truck and I have certain [SPEAKER_00]: I'm including in the back here that I've got a purgler and I've got a luchron outside the outdoor controller there, so that would not they sent me as a sample at some point back Yeah, I did not pretty much everything is I've paid for something.

[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of mine in these aren't treatment. [SPEAKER_00]: They're like 50, 60 bucks a pop And I just did it like I'd buy like three at a time, four at a time, something like that and then I got time, I'll just upload it [SPEAKER_00]: like repainting a room or like finishing one of the rooms that I'd go in and change those there and it just helps spread this fan across a couple of years and buying it all at once right so.

[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm guessing the Lutron switches you've got they are [SPEAKER_01]: Like a single unit that they, so for example, I have in my house when I moved in to my home that we purchased by when and got some Fubarak dimmer modules that go in the wall behind effectively a dumb switch. [SPEAKER_01]: Could be any, could be a memory switch, could be like a push button switch.

[SPEAKER_01]: So in terms of if I really wanted to, if I did, I'd have to sell this house. [SPEAKER_01]: I could take out those models from behind the wall and just have the switches as a dumb switch. [SPEAKER_01]: Is that something that's not possible with those looking for on switches? [SPEAKER_00]: It's no, I mean, it is a smart switch, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: So everything is built in, everything is in the shell. [SPEAKER_00]: And the reason I like these ones is because I'm not sure what our new place is going to look like, like behind the wallboxes or anything like that, but the wallboxes that have here are kind of shallow. [SPEAKER_00]: So, relative to what a smart switch should use, and I just like the neutron, the depth of the neutron, I guess a thickness of the neutron switches, because they're a shallower than your average smart switch, which I like a lot better.

[SPEAKER_00]: So, for me to put a module in there, could I do it probably? [SPEAKER_00]: Um, but it would be, it would be again, it would depend on how big the module is, right? [SPEAKER_00]: So again, it makes, it makes a bit of a difference there. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: So how did you go about preparing the house to be sold?

[SPEAKER_01]: Like you, you know, you were at the home, one of the hosts at the home is some podcast. [SPEAKER_01]: You've got a pretty, uh, [SPEAKER_01]: You know, you've invested in a DIY smart home experience, right? [SPEAKER_01]: Was that where did you speak to, like, your real origin to say, hey, I have a smart home?

[SPEAKER_01]: Is that a selling point? [SPEAKER_01]: Is that negative? [SPEAKER_01]: Do we add that? [SPEAKER_01]: Is like a people going to shy away? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm going to buy a smart home. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, how did that conversation ever come up? [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, it did. [SPEAKER_00]: So, you did say it is, it's desirable as long as it can either A, B, remove [SPEAKER_00]: or the, like, easily managed, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: So, for example, some things I'm leaving behind I talked about, I'm only trying switches. [SPEAKER_00]: My, I've got a real in doorbell. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna be leaving that behind. [SPEAKER_00]: So, those kind of things, those aren't difficult, right? [SPEAKER_00]: Everybody's still knows how to use a doorbell, everybody.

[SPEAKER_00]: So, it's not a hard, hard, [SPEAKER_00]: thing to manage or leave behind. [SPEAKER_00]: Again, because the thing is, it's like, you could just, no, it means smart. [SPEAKER_00]: If you wanted to, right? [SPEAKER_00]: And it goes back to you. [SPEAKER_00]: We've talked about it a hundred times on the podcast around design and just digging it through.

[SPEAKER_00]: So if it's stuff like smart bulbs, well, then I'll need to change out those smart bulbs because people might not want the app experience to turn on an awful bulb, saying things like having like tape over a [SPEAKER_00]: flip to switch or whatever, whatever, right? [SPEAKER_00]: So having those kind of things would deter or make your house less desirable, I guess, because people look at it as like, I don't know how to operate the light switches and this has.

[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, one of the things that I've always done is, again, it's that like, [SPEAKER_00]: If my parents were my grandparents or something like that gave to our house, would they be able to operate, would they be able to turn on the light, would they be able to turn on the career and exhaust family bathroom if they're kicking back or taking showers on my back.

[SPEAKER_00]: So doing those kind of things I think was important. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, and so I think that's the big, uh, big piece there. [SPEAKER_00]: So again, a lot of stuff that I did do that were like kind of augment, so like my idea, I mean, you can see it in the picture. [SPEAKER_00]: I've got the switchbot tilt right there, uh, for my for opening these blinds in this room, uh, those are all removable, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: So it's not a huge deal. [SPEAKER_00]: So you can just go in and remove those and, uh, [SPEAKER_00]: call it a day, same with my door open closed sensors and motion sensors, the present sensors, everything even if it plugs into the wall. [SPEAKER_00]: I've got a couple of Apollo sensors including an air quality sensor that's in my sun's room.

[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, those kinds of things you can just unplug and take with you or just rip off the wall and take with you. [SPEAKER_00]: So for the most part, that's the nice thing about between Z-wave and Z-B devices, right? [SPEAKER_00]: Like I've got a bazoo's Zen 55 I think it is. [SPEAKER_00]: They for detecting it, if my fire alarm's or smoke alarm.

[SPEAKER_00]: Sorry, my smoke alarm or carbon dioxide or carbon monoxide alarm goes off. [SPEAKER_00]: right, what's cool is they can tell which one it is and based on that. [SPEAKER_00]: So again, that is a little more involved because it is in the wall, I'll have to remove that. [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, and I did put a clause in the sale of the homes as well, saying that the doorbell as well as the [SPEAKER_00]: like twitches will be included, but no other smart home stuff will be included.

[SPEAKER_00]: Just because again, I might plan to take that with me. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: So I guess that's an important point there. [SPEAKER_01]: So you were able to put into your contract of sale. [SPEAKER_01]: Some of the smart home items that you were willing to lay behind. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's actually even in the listing. [SPEAKER_00]: It was in the listing itself. [SPEAKER_00]: So you would actually be able to see that, saying what's included and what's not. [SPEAKER_00]: and they usually say, like, inclusions, exclusions and rentals, right? [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, my water heater in this property is rented.

[SPEAKER_00]: So it's obviously like, it'll come with the house, but at a cost to pay to somebody else. [SPEAKER_00]: You're not buying it off me or you're renting it or saying, you know, I don't want it and redo it. [SPEAKER_00]: And that would have happened since, right? [SPEAKER_00]: So again, I guess that depends on where in the world you are, at least in Ontario and Canada.

[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to do it based on the like open homes that you had and the interest of the sales process I think we can you know give you've actually sold the house now And we're just waiting to to move out now. [SPEAKER_01]: What did you have any feedback about the smart time stuff? [SPEAKER_01]: Do you know if your agent got any questions or you know, was able to gauge from customers or potential buyers?

[SPEAKER_00]: No, the biggest thing is [SPEAKER_00]: So again, depends on where in the world you are, the process is like 90 different, but the way what they do is they put a lock box outside your house, right? [SPEAKER_00]: Either on paying off the door or whatever, and that's where your house key is.

[SPEAKER_00]: And I've right now, I'm, I have the a car, a U 400 lock. [SPEAKER_00]: So. [SPEAKER_00]: They weren't able to figure out where the key was. [SPEAKER_00]: One of the one of the ages, actually two of the agents were unable to figure out where the key was. [SPEAKER_00]: And I get a phone call being like, does the key work?

[SPEAKER_00]: Where do I actually put the key in? [SPEAKER_00]: So I actually had to before there's the open house versus like a scheduled viewing, whatever. [SPEAKER_00]: When you and I talked, I realized, [SPEAKER_00]: wasn't a normal thing everywhere, I guess. [SPEAKER_00]: They can say, yeah, you guys just have an open house and everybody comes in and says, yes, no, whatever.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then Ben and Lee here, you can do a schedule viewing. [SPEAKER_00]: So you're like, I can't make your open house, but I can do Sunday at 3 p.m. [SPEAKER_00]: So that we leave, they come in, whatever, right? [SPEAKER_00]: It's just the agent, their agent, so the buying agent, as well as the people that want to see the house, [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so people weren't able to figure out the smart lock.

[SPEAKER_00]: So then I just put in my agent was like, so because the lock box that they give has a combination, right, it's like super old, whatever, to share, share, pen, which doesn't vote on the security, but they're like, hey, can you just give me a, [SPEAKER_00]: put a pin in the on the door lock.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, yeah, that's fine. [SPEAKER_00]: So I just created an account for like open open home, whatever, and then I deleted it right after just again security, right? [SPEAKER_00]: So because I don't know how many people they have shared that with or whatever. [SPEAKER_00]: So so if they weren't able to so cup one of the agents had trouble getting in a talk box, which [SPEAKER_00]: feel like that's a key part of your job, so I'm not sure what happened there, and then the other ones, two of them couldn't figure out how to open the actual thing.

[SPEAKER_00]: So again, these are things that I learned, right? [SPEAKER_00]: So it's like, yes, aesthetically, it looks great. [SPEAKER_00]: However, usability wise, people don't think to pull the little slot, to cover down, right, to expose the keyhole. [SPEAKER_00]: So those are some of the things and we were at a neighbor's house just kind of camping out there while while one of the viewing's happened and [SPEAKER_00]: You know, I just kept getting the, like, my doorbell notification through our own system being like something to the front door, so it was a front door and I was like, I mean, standing there a while, I'm gonna be just making sure they're not struggling or anything like that.

[SPEAKER_00]: Right, so I opened it up and I just, I had to see them being like, where's the keyhole? [SPEAKER_00]: Like, I can't find this or whatever. [SPEAKER_00]: It's not good stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, bam. [SPEAKER_00]: But that's not in that, I think it's been, it's been, nobody, I didn't really hear any comments about it and lived negative or positive.

[SPEAKER_00]: Originally I was gonna do like a scene like, we open the door and say, you know, late's going on, all that stuff and I was like, then my agents like, yeah, but that could be kind of polarizing where people are like, this is too creepy, I don't want that. [SPEAKER_00]: So we just, I just had everything off, the only thing I did is I would just turn on a little lights beforehand.

[SPEAKER_00]: and then you did that frame. [SPEAKER_01]: So that's a good segue into my next question actually. [SPEAKER_01]: So in terms of those, I've been, I'm just particularly hard. [SPEAKER_01]: Did you have any automations set up? [SPEAKER_01]: Or did you have a script to go in and basically turn off automations and then turn them back on when the open frame viewing was done to put a house into a viewing mode or a guest mode?

[SPEAKER_00]: No, I didn't even bother with any of that stuff, I just had the only ones I really turned off was like one of the like my security automation where it's like if my wife and I are home then you know alert us if the door opens or if the motion sensors go off or something like darkest again, especially if you get an open house it's like two days with two hours each [SPEAKER_00]: where it's like, people are just coming in and out of your house, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: And the agent stays in the house double time. [SPEAKER_00]: So it's like, I figured this would be like ding ding ding. [SPEAKER_00]: So I don't want that to kind of annoying. [SPEAKER_00]: And it would kill this kill my battery on my phone and my wife's phone. [SPEAKER_00]: So I turned those off, but other than that, literally all I did is turn on the lights on.

[SPEAKER_00]: Make sure the blinds are open and stuff like that. [SPEAKER_00]: These are the only smart blinds I have in this room. [SPEAKER_00]: I've got three of them, but that's it, and then other than that, it's just stock, just leave it like time. [SPEAKER_01]: The door lock you've had, I know we've, like over the years, you've been struggling to find a door lock to fit your door.

[SPEAKER_01]: Right because of the glass on it. [SPEAKER_01]: Is that something that you're going to lose as part of the sale is that the door lock also, [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, I have to ask my agent, and that's actually on my list of stuff to ask them. [SPEAKER_00]: Of can I swap it out with another walk?

[SPEAKER_00]: If they say no, then I'll leave it. [SPEAKER_00]: The U400 is actually the first lock that I like. [SPEAKER_00]: Smart lock that I've liked. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure there's others out there. [SPEAKER_00]: I haven't tested everyone. [SPEAKER_00]: I've gone through five of them for some of that.

[SPEAKER_00]: You know, out of all the ones I've used, I do really like it. [SPEAKER_00]: It looks good. [SPEAKER_00]: It works well. [SPEAKER_00]: It's actually very efficient on battery compared to some of the ones I've used in the past. [SPEAKER_00]: That kind of stuff, right? [SPEAKER_00]: And it's matter enabled UWB.

[SPEAKER_00]: I don't have done the UWBPS yet because I need a on-potter, Apple TV, like the newer generation 4K. [SPEAKER_00]: I have an ancient one. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So that's, I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: I, I, I, I hope you'll say that's fine. [SPEAKER_00]: Just replace it with an equivalent lock, which is fine.

[SPEAKER_00]: I can do that. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, like I have some more block with a pin number, whatever. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, then I'm good at that. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: That's good. [SPEAKER_01]: Anything that you're coming onto the other side, have you got any learnings that you're past onto anyone that's thinking of selling their home, like what should they be thinking of getting into that sort of selling season?

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: some of the things I did I tried to do is again keep keep my lawn cut do all that stuff I do have a smart sprinkler system that I got installed last year I think that's right I'm so lucky right that that's yeah we didn't really get a full sum of use out of it I know it's you know what though it was it's great I still loved that I put it in there and you know we got we got decent use out of it at least [SPEAKER_00]: for a lot between last year and this year.

[SPEAKER_00]: If you add that time up, I guess at the equivalent, it's equivalent to a summer. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't know, keeping like, I still kept the grass water and did all that stuff, again, it shows better, right? [SPEAKER_00]: So keep the grass, keep the grass water, obviously follow your local rules and stuff, because again, some areas say, okay, you can only go out on these days or whatever.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so did that and I didn't that and nothing really again just it goes back to what I said earlier right about just design like when you think about it either make things removable or make things usable right so either I can remove it if it's if it's a complicated thing or I can just say, hey, let me just let me use like light switches and sort of smart bulbs or those kind of things don't try and do the [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, like, purple lights or something like that, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: Like, again, people want to see it in its new trophy. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's what I was told as well. [SPEAKER_00]: And I've also seen other houses that had like, they weren't smart home, but there's people with LED bars and stuff that I would just cool. [SPEAKER_00]: But it might look good to you.

[SPEAKER_00]: Doesn't mean it looks good to everybody, right? [SPEAKER_00]: And I think you also got to not have an ego about your role. [SPEAKER_00]: Again, you've customized it. [SPEAKER_00]: You first know as if you're yourself. [SPEAKER_00]: And our bathrooms, for example, we're all stock. [SPEAKER_00]: And before we listen to our house, we had to [SPEAKER_00]: I had to renovate the bathrooms, but we painted them, changed the mirrors, changed the light fixtures.

[SPEAKER_00]: Essentially, we got to make the bathroom my wife was mad at me because she was like, oh my God, this looks so nice now. [SPEAKER_00]: And now we're doing it to get rid of it, Ray rather than actually having to experience that, right? [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I don't know, it's that kind of stuff that that I would focus on just keep a neutral people, whatever, our stage, or again, the reason I'm looking like this right now, our house was staged, but kind of minimally.

[SPEAKER_00]: Um, but one of the things I did have to do is just empty my desk. [SPEAKER_00]: Great. [SPEAKER_00]: So I had to remove my camera, my mic and all of that stuff for this. [SPEAKER_00]: And then it's actually packed away and put in storage such that I actually don't even have it with hearing how we could that's in my storage locker.

[SPEAKER_00]: Stuff like that, right? [SPEAKER_00]: Just keep the clean. [SPEAKER_01]: So that's also, thank you for setting up again for my next question. [SPEAKER_01]: You've got like a, like a smart home, right, with a whole bunch of devices. [SPEAKER_01]: Have you started taking them down the ones that you can remove, like if you've got like a, a smart, you know, lab or somewhere, yeah, and have you started organising them, like to get prepared to set up in the new place, like what's your sort of methodology there?

[SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't say organizing, but one of the things I did do is I went to Home Depot and bought 20 of those like big stores took things. [SPEAKER_00]: And [SPEAKER_00]: I just filled them up with smart home style for either podcast stuff like my camera, but my mic didn't make their booms stand and all that stuff and the lights and stuff.

[SPEAKER_00]: And smart home stuff shows that all that stuff can just go into my office. [SPEAKER_00]: And once it goes in my office, it might be in the new house and then I can kind of separate it out as I need to. [SPEAKER_00]: But we've been doing the same thing with the clothes with whatever else, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: So I bought 20 of those tilts and it's like, these are just going to get put storage and over the idea as we go into the new house. [SPEAKER_00]: It just stays in those things, right? [SPEAKER_00]: Because when I have, and we're a little bit different too, and but everybody has just like junk, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: Like tech junk, most listeners on this podcast can probably relate. [SPEAKER_00]: So all of that kind of stuff I'd have put away and then the idea is moving to new house, just keep it there, right? [SPEAKER_00]: Keep it in storage, keep it in that box. [SPEAKER_00]: It's already done. [SPEAKER_00]: So if I can organize upfront, then it saves me from having to do it there and we were talking about this before the recording, where it's like we're trying to schedule our next recording, some stuff like that, and so whatever will help me be most efficient in being able to do that [SPEAKER_00]: hence the storage boxes and all of that stack.

[SPEAKER_01]: Now, it's home assistance still running, or if you already shut homes down and make them out. [SPEAKER_01]: What's happening? [SPEAKER_01]: So, what's the plan for home assistant is the person's buying a house going to have it in instance when they take possession or is it? [SPEAKER_00]: No, they want.

[SPEAKER_00]: So, I'm going to be taking all that with me. [SPEAKER_00]: They just threw conversations from our agent. [SPEAKER_00]: I haven't actually talked to them, actually, because it's always like the agent talks to the other agent who talks to you, it was like seven lines of communication that are right to do one thing.

[SPEAKER_00]: The efficiency of it's fine is there, but I get to sense that they don't want to do any of that. [SPEAKER_00]: So it's fine. [SPEAKER_00]: So again, like the light switches, they still operate at lights, which is so no foul. [SPEAKER_00]: And it's just a lot of effort for me to change that kind of stuff out.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So that's kind of where my head is with a lot of that stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I'm going to be taking home, this is me with me. [SPEAKER_00]: I've actually already taken down my ZWA radio. [SPEAKER_00]: So ZWA one radio looked up. [SPEAKER_00]: It used to be up here.

[SPEAKER_00]: So technically my, like I've talked about the zoos. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm exemplified that it's not doing anything right now, because there's no ZWA network in my house. [SPEAKER_00]: My, I could have moved it down to the basement, but I'm just thinking about now and, you know, my Zigbee network is still out because I still have to touch to my home.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's just a yellow. [SPEAKER_00]: So, and my thread and matter are attached to their two. [SPEAKER_00]: So, that's not a big deal. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, it sounds like you'll be looking to upgrade your smartphone, so I don't think you can go past the Zeus. [SPEAKER_01]: They've got their 800 series Z-wave long-range power strip, the Zen 20800LR, so you can turn it as single outlet into multiple individually controllable smart sockets.

[SPEAKER_01]: You can drop it under a desk, behind your TV unit, or in your server rack to tame all those always on gadgets, and still monitor and automate each outlet separately. [SPEAKER_01]: It's perfect for things like network gear, charges, labs, game controls, anywhere you want more smart control without adding a bunch of separate plugs.

[SPEAKER_01]: Zeus is also an official works with home Mrs. and partner, and they've been helping Nabakasa by providing long range devices to test the home Mrs. and Connect is at WA2 radio, so you know you're in friendly hands. [SPEAKER_01]: Beyond that power strip, Zeus offers a full range for affordable if gear, like water licensors, motorised water valve controllers, smart plugs, and sink controllers, plus there's N78 high power relay for loads up to 40 amps for poor pumps and air compressors.

[SPEAKER_01]: for the best prices on all of the services products, head over to thesmartesthouse.com, that's thesmartesthouse.com. [SPEAKER_01]: So, Ruhun, there, you've still got the home is at Nielo running. [SPEAKER_01]: What about the server record, is that still running as well? [SPEAKER_00]: It is.

[SPEAKER_00]: I need to take it down as a stem and denial. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because it's, it is a lot of work and that you have to make network changes and stuff exactly because I run DNS internally here, so I have to point that out back up to external stuff doing that kind of thing. [SPEAKER_00]: I do have a mechanism to do that and I have an off-site DNS server too, so I want, it's just, it's stuff and I just haven't done it yet.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, if I thought Tom to do it right, right? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and even stuff like my NAS and stuff like that, I'm sending that home with a friend of mine just so it's like, you can, again, he's also in tech, he's also whatever, so he knows not to, you know, kick the NAS down the roof with whatever.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then when I move in, it's just not getting all that stuff set up, I think I'm going to the way I'm going to do it is. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to take all that stuff out and then just move, get them to get, I'm going to get movers in just but get them to move the rack to the new house.

[SPEAKER_00]: But I don't know if I'm going to keep the rack itself. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to move it just because I got to figure out what to do with it. [SPEAKER_00]: But I've actually gotten it down to the point where it's like, I don't need that much. [SPEAKER_00]: rack space, right? [SPEAKER_00]: So, but it is nice to have like the UPS and all that stuff all contained in one spot and all the cables come in to one spot and connect down wherever they need to go.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's going to be, I haven't really thought of how I want to do that, it is, I have a half rack, right? [SPEAKER_00]: So it is, it is not huge, but it's fairly large for what it is, or for what I use it for. [SPEAKER_00]: So I probably use about half of the, I'm going to use maybe 20 you, 20 are you in the, in the rack.

[SPEAKER_00]: Just, again, stuff that's taller and things like that, I don't [SPEAKER_00]: how much stuff in there. [SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, just a couple of things there. [SPEAKER_00]: So, and I need to figure where I'm going to put it to, and then you know, so I've been thought that through. [SPEAKER_01]: But before we get on to the new house, the invention that one of the things is going to stay with your current house is the real link doorbell camera.

[SPEAKER_01]: Now, how have you got that connected? [SPEAKER_01]: So there's a few like some cameras can be connected via Wi-Fi, some can be connected via POE. [SPEAKER_01]: How's that doorbell connected? [SPEAKER_00]: It's Wi-Fi, it's Wi-Fi. [SPEAKER_00]: So there's no, I don't have POE out there. [SPEAKER_00]: Not a huge deal, like it's not like if I take my network stuff with me, it's gonna not operate, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: So there's a list of work, whatever, obviously they'll need to really join it to their Wi-Fi network, whatever they create. [SPEAKER_01]: Yep. [SPEAKER_01]: But, um... And if they got in the account, like, are there any accounts you're gonna have to hand over to the new owner of the house?

[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think they hand over, I plan to remove... [SPEAKER_00]: to device for my account to open it up for them to create their own account and do that. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so my account stays with me. [SPEAKER_00]: Unless it's really not possible, then in that case, I'll have to change the email address and change the password, whatever, and then give them the credentials to that.

[SPEAKER_01]: On the Lutron side, is there a hub that needs to stay in the house for those [SPEAKER_00]: If they would like to keep the hub they can, I think I have an extra one somewhere, I'm not super bothered about it. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't want to keep it great. [SPEAKER_00]: If not, I'll take it with me.

[SPEAKER_01]: Is that something you've considered though? [SPEAKER_01]: Is that I have no idea on the neutron ecosystem? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: You think it after hand over to them? [SPEAKER_01]: I know. [SPEAKER_00]: Some people. [SPEAKER_00]: It's just a matter of resetting the switch, which is an actually that hard.

[SPEAKER_00]: But it'll just, again, for time and effort, then radar doesn't have to go in and reset all the switches. [SPEAKER_00]: Not a huge deal. [SPEAKER_01]: Seeing some people what they do is they will set up like a Gmail account just for their home. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, like to address at gmail.com and have all the things like ring Amazon, you know, real link, anything that's cloud connected for this my home tied to that Gmail account so that [SPEAKER_01]: if whatever reason you need to move out of the house or sell the house, we can just give them the username password.gmail account, and then they can do a bracelet password or log in that way.

[SPEAKER_01]: Is that something you would consider to do or you just because you're not providing anything you didn't think was necessary? [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not, yeah, more of the latter. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that is super necessary. [SPEAKER_00]: It's pretty much just [SPEAKER_00]: But again, if they'll have to set up the Lootron Hub with their, it's plugged in right so they'll have to, once again, internet, whatever, they'll have to do that.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, what about the, your irrigation control, is that connected to a account? [SPEAKER_01]: Or is that gonna stay in the house? [SPEAKER_00]: That's staying in the house. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I can't, I can't. [SPEAKER_00]: I understand there's no value in be taking that with me. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a rainbird controller that I have there that just being stalled or that's what they use.

[SPEAKER_00]: So they keep it that in there for me and yeah, there is an account, but it actually works, it's it's weird. [SPEAKER_00]: I think it works locally. [SPEAKER_00]: And, but yeah, it's for some reason it's disconnected itself off of my account. [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, it's actually it's connected to indelumist and so it's retained at that.

[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and it, uh, I think it relies on, uh, I don't think I have it out to the internet. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, so I think it just relies on the ability, if I'm using the rainboard app, which I don't, I just use my, uh, use homelessness and for it, um, um, yeah, I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so that's, that's technically not even tied to the account right now.

[SPEAKER_00]: So that's, you know, they can go and reset it with the one. [SPEAKER_01]: All right, talk to maybe about the new house. [SPEAKER_01]: Did you have a process when you and your wife were looking for a house in terms of it being like a capabilities for a smart home or we even looking for a house that or it had some form of smart home technology in it?

[SPEAKER_01]: Or is that something that you just didn't put into the equation at all? [SPEAKER_00]: Not even a criteria, again, it would be, let's find what the house is, right? [SPEAKER_00]: Because again, when you start doing all that stuff, you start narrowing your search to pretty much next to not a whole lot.

[SPEAKER_00]: There are builders nowadays that I've been, like, just when you drive by, you see the signs and stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: And it's like, you know, they're doing like smart stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: And whatever, but those are always like, under the more expensive systems, right? [SPEAKER_00]: And it's like, [SPEAKER_00]: and they're on much higher end houses than I can of course, or usually to you.

[SPEAKER_00]: And it's a, but either it's like, you know, it's a bond system or like something like that, which yeah, you can obviously you can build hooks into that and don't want to sustain and use homelessness for that. [SPEAKER_00]: But no, that's not a criteria that I was looking for. [SPEAKER_00]: And I didn't want to pay the premium for those kind of backing stuff.

[SPEAKER_00]: The other thing is, [SPEAKER_00]: Again, not everybody shares my view of, you know, we're possible to do local first and do that kind of thing, right? [SPEAKER_00]: So going into another smart home, it's it's I have to take their design ethos, which may or may not work for me and consider a lot of those kind of things.

[SPEAKER_00]: So it was a consideration really at all, just understanding that, you know, [SPEAKER_00]: At least for me personally, I've done this long enough that I've used smart, home stuff long enough that it's like I can manage my weight through it other than like maybe, I don't know if I trust myself running cables, but that's really the only thing that I would, which I've got again being in the network world, I've got enough friends that can help you with that, that I will be taking advantage of.

[SPEAKER_01]: So, yeah, I guess with the new house then, what is going to be your process of starting the smartphone? [SPEAKER_01]: Like, you have a first automation that you want to get up and running first. [SPEAKER_01]: So, what is, I guess, for your family now, like, they've been using home misses in front of what?

[SPEAKER_01]: What are they going to be missing the most? [SPEAKER_01]: What are you going to have to try and get automated first? [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, and I've actually been thinking about this a lot, right? [SPEAKER_00]: And it's been like, well, she just went for, oh, I should do this in person.

[SPEAKER_00]: And it's just like, it's just, again, it's one of those things where we weren't actually expecting to move or buy a house. [SPEAKER_00]: For sellers, I was then that we just, we were randomly like, we'd go check out an open house here and there and we like, oh, you know, and it's like, we knew at some point, we wanted to, we wanted a little bigger space.

[SPEAKER_00]: And again, the house is just getting mad. [SPEAKER_00]: filled with more stuff, right, as our kids growing and wants more things and whatever. [SPEAKER_00]: So it was one of those things we didn't hadn't really thought about and then now it's like, okay, it's all here. [SPEAKER_00]: So now it's like, okay, how do I get all of this over there?

[SPEAKER_00]: Is the, is the, is the private progative? [SPEAKER_00]: I do know at some point I want to do, I was in my, my, the smart lights are going to be heard smart, like light switches and stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: I've got to get it pretty important. [SPEAKER_00]: So I do want to do that. [SPEAKER_00]: There is a, there's a swimming pool in the new house to, so that's something which, again, I, [SPEAKER_00]: I would say, I don't dread it.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm actually looking forward to it. [SPEAKER_00]: I've always been scared of owning one of those as those are some of the impacted nicks. [SPEAKER_00]: We didn't buy the house for the pool. [SPEAKER_00]: We bought the house and it just happened to have a pool. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm kind of either way.

[SPEAKER_00]: I can go either way with a pool, have it or don't have it. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm trying to communicate with both of us on a doswomen. [SPEAKER_00]: But now it's, [SPEAKER_00]: It's the maintenance of that and and it is a heated pool, right? [SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, so we managing that too because again, that can run up your electricity costs and whatnot pretty, pretty heavily.

[SPEAKER_00]: So, I've actually been talking to Gavin from Home Tech.com because he's got a pool and he's done a bunch of stuff with it. [SPEAKER_00]: So, I'm like, hey, what do you do in what do I need to know? [SPEAKER_00]: and those kind of things, right? [SPEAKER_00]: And so far, he's been like, dude, it's okay.

[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I'll come over, I'll help you out and figure it out together, kind of things. [SPEAKER_00]: So I'll shut it down over there. [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, that's kind of in what I'm scared of. [SPEAKER_00]: So to speak, there is a great burden of irrigation system and they're already as well, just like my house has.

[SPEAKER_00]: I need to figure out what zones do what and all of that stuff, but that's kind of a low hanging fruit, because from what I saw here, it kind of just integrates. [SPEAKER_00]: So first and foremost, get, get in that setup, get one by setup, um, [SPEAKER_00]: and build out the network, do all of that stuff, there's no cables for the house there, and it's like, that's all that before we even move my goal is just trying to get that stuff done.

[SPEAKER_00]: So, and then that way, you know, I have connectivity, and then one for myself, for like work to, you know, remain employed, because otherwise that's not just for K2L, and on the other side of it, it's for the smart home, too. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, have you thought about how you're going to get it wider like you're going to get like [SPEAKER_01]: Ethernet everywhere, if you thought about outside for cameras potentially, like what's your sort of strategy there?

[SPEAKER_00]: So they have cameras there already, but I haven't had a chance to look at them because they're getting their mounted up higher. [SPEAKER_00]: So I'd need to get on the ladder and see, I don't know if their POE or their network driven. [SPEAKER_00]: They might be Wi-Fi and they kind of old school or not, like they might be old school coax or something like that.

[SPEAKER_00]: I have to look at that, and then once I get all of that, then I get an idea of, okay, what can I actually see and whatever, I know it's super worried about Wi-Fi outside. [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe I would, I probably would want to have some type of Wi-Fi out there, and I don't necessarily need [SPEAKER_00]: You know, either in everywhere, I'm probably just going to run a couple of drops.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's exactly what I've done in this house is. [SPEAKER_00]: I've got an access point, actually, to find a closet on the ceiling, on the closet here. [SPEAKER_00]: And then I've got a couple of sprinkled through the house. [SPEAKER_00]: Same kind of idea that I'm going to do there. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't really need.

[SPEAKER_00]: I might run a [SPEAKER_00]: table and a compact switch maybe in my office just as I do other testing and I need to plug in for whatever I need to do maybe even to stage stuff or look at one of my machine set of running proxmox for example if one of those die then I can go in and plug it in and look at my desk and do that I don't even know if I need that really it might just be a nice staff but yeah [SPEAKER_00]: because I don't have any drops in here outside of the access point that's in the positive economy or beside me.

[SPEAKER_00]: So, and I've managed just fine to the last more of how many of years have been here decade. [SPEAKER_01]: So, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: One of the ideas I started twang with a couple of episodes ago was starting again on my, I mean, this is not like installing a fresh new copy of my assistant, and going ahead with that.

[SPEAKER_01]: What is your plan now? [SPEAKER_01]: Because you're going into a whole new house, like, realistically, the energy, like my concern was the history, but you're going into a new house where you don't necessarily need the history. [SPEAKER_01]: Have you thought about are you just going to start fresh like reset my missing and yeah, yeah, repair everything?

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, pretty much I'm I have to be that regardless, it's a physically different happens, right? [SPEAKER_00]: So oh and in a different city and whatever [SPEAKER_00]: So kind of what I'm hoping to do is figure out what, like, just the RF environment looks like out there. [SPEAKER_00]: I suspect it should be fine, like I don't, I don't see a ton of people there, maybe having like one automation or ZB stuff or ZB stuff or ZB stuff, any of that.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm less worried about ZB, just again. [SPEAKER_00]: So have a look at that, pick the right channels and all of that stuff, get all of that stuff set up. [SPEAKER_00]: Even if I'm not using it, right? [SPEAKER_00]: And that's kind of what I did here. [SPEAKER_00]: I've always wanted to see what network of ours, where there's a peanut work, and then when matter and thread became a thing, I kind of set that up.

[SPEAKER_00]: Even though I had low devices for a long time, I had a bunch of, finally, I had originally before I got my new Trump searches. [SPEAKER_00]: I had some Z-wave searches that. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what brand they were, but I think they were like a linear or something like that, but those things all just, they were not good.

[SPEAKER_00]: They lost it like three years and some of that and then they just stopped working. [SPEAKER_00]: And then you hear like electrical buzzings, stuff like that. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they only got saved. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no. [SPEAKER_00]: So something, something I was looking for after that, I had four of those, which is something I was looking for after that is stuff that's like certified and all that stuff I've been exploring in the walls, but she means power, which, which, these are.

[SPEAKER_00]: So that's why [SPEAKER_01]: So, you're going to, like I guess, just start out with setting the networks up, starting again, like on a fresh new item, you're going to keep the yellow as the hardware, where you're going to go as something else. [SPEAKER_00]: So, something I've been toying with, and I'd love everybody to the opinion.

[SPEAKER_00]: So, the yellow is great, it's a little restrictive for what I'm doing right now. [SPEAKER_00]: So, for example, yes, behold, actually it's just don't start in the yellow because I don't have enough RAM. [SPEAKER_00]: on the yellow to actually build, like if I need to update one of my ESP home devices, I have to actually do that outside.

[SPEAKER_00]: So we talked about the photo frame, done I'm building, whatever. [SPEAKER_00]: All of that was done on separate Docker container that I was running outside of my yellow. [SPEAKER_00]: My ethos with the yellow, which I'll still stand by, is I just want to keep all my home automation stuff in there because before I was still running in my dorms, warm environment, which was more of a home lab for me, being in a more technical kind of job, where I tried stuff, break stuff, you all have that stuff.

[SPEAKER_00]: It was always, it was always, [SPEAKER_00]: stable, but sometimes it's like, I did this and it's like, oh, I actually blew up my box. [SPEAKER_00]: So great. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, now that means what was this incident, right? [SPEAKER_00]: So it's like, I wanted an environment where basically everything is kind of just self-contained.

[SPEAKER_00]: And that's what I was hoping for with the yellow. [SPEAKER_00]: Now, it is giving me that. [SPEAKER_00]: It's just, I still have the CM4, the Raspberry Pi CM4, and [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not having the performance issues or anything that otherwise, but just a ramp part of it is. [SPEAKER_00]: So I'm thinking of moving off of that.

[SPEAKER_00]: So what I might do is just again, time is part right now. [SPEAKER_00]: So I might actually just start on that and then do a backup restore into another, and turn on the device. [SPEAKER_00]: So I think that's what I'm probably going to do. [SPEAKER_00]: I might get like, [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, but something, something similar, or an old maybe PC or something like that that's referred to as just doesn't need a ton, like maybe like 16 gigs of ram or something like that.

[SPEAKER_00]: And [SPEAKER_00]: right down there. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's what I'm thinking, but that's a that's a that's a later project. [SPEAKER_00]: That's not an out project. [SPEAKER_00]: I think regardless, I'll be starting on the yellow, I'll probably just wipe the yellow and certainly again.

[SPEAKER_00]: I do have a green as well that I use as a dev box. [SPEAKER_00]: So the yellow I I purchased myself to green as part of the data as a creator. [SPEAKER_00]: Navocasa sent me that. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, I think I want to continue using the green as a dev box and as I do other stuff, I might actually put that in my office and just, you know, as I'm doing different projects and stuff like that, um, I might want to keep out there, don't listen.

[SPEAKER_01]: If you're starting again, and this is something I was playing with, [SPEAKER_01]: What are you going to then use some of the new features that are like from the sketch go right like we've got now purpose-specific triggers and now you know the default standard in home assistant you've got the new dashboards home sections dashboards layout from home assistant now.

[SPEAKER_01]: There's also an MCP server that you can install and have AI, you know, basically run that home is sent for you and build our automations. [SPEAKER_01]: Have you thought about going down those sort of paths if you're basically starting fresh now? [SPEAKER_01]: Have you thought about any of those stuff that you want to try and do?

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there's data. [SPEAKER_00]: There's really no reason not to do that, right? [SPEAKER_00]: Perhaps there's other triggers, again, that's not a standard, so whether I want to or not I'm going to, which I do want to. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, and then, and, and, and, and CPC only one that's kind of look up, uh, maybe, right, like, it's, uh, everything else you mentioned, I do already, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: So it's not, uh, it's not for a nerd, like, got to me, um, [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I would absolutely want to start in the most, let's call it the most supported format. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: That makes sense. [SPEAKER_00]: When I moved on to the yellow from, I was just saying earlier, I had some moved from Docker to the yellow.

[SPEAKER_00]: I actually made it a point to just build all my automations in the UI. [SPEAKER_00]: So that's, so it's like kind of following that same thing methodology of saying, okay, well, if I'm starting fresh, I want to actually build it all out and everyone I moved to the yellow I did start fresh.

[SPEAKER_00]: So I want to actually build it all out as, as, uh, organizations that are in the ammo are not in the ammo, sorry, in the UI and, uh, and do it that way. [SPEAKER_00]: So same way purpose because of the triggers, all of that kind of stuff I want to just keep going. [SPEAKER_00]: hopefully he'll probably turn it on and I don't know if I'll use it or not, maybe I will.

[SPEAKER_01]: The UI has really been growing on me, particularly with the purpose-specific triggers. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, I'm finding myself now going in and wanting to edit automations on the fly on my phone, right? [SPEAKER_01]: Now, like, automations are just stuck in YAML. [SPEAKER_01]: I have to get the laptop out.

[SPEAKER_01]: I've been up via code, find the automation out there. [SPEAKER_01]: It is so handy just being able to go in to the UI and just switching things around on the fire. [SPEAKER_01]: It's still clunky. [SPEAKER_01]: You're still creative automation with your fingers and tapping things on glass.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's not as fast as you could do on a keyboard, but when a keyboard is not available, it's certainly very helpful. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but even like my UI, some stuff, I've even rewritten all those, right, already. [SPEAKER_00]: So again, it's, it's, it's, and partly it's because of the podcast too, like I kind of have to remain not relevant, but we kind of have to try the new things, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: So sometimes we can actually comment on them. [SPEAKER_00]: And do I always do that on time? [SPEAKER_00]: No, but again, I'm still a tech person, right? [SPEAKER_00]: I still like to integrate with this kind of stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: So it's like, my dad let's try it. [SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes it's just, you might be later just his time, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: But, but so if I'm starting to construct, yeah, there's absolutely no reason I wouldn't do that. [SPEAKER_01]: So you have the pool as a new thing in your new home that you're moving to. [SPEAKER_01]: Anything else new that you're looking forward to automating that you haven't been able to automate before?

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so well in septic. [SPEAKER_00]: So this house is on well in septic. [SPEAKER_00]: So I started on city water. [SPEAKER_00]: So I actually have zero clue about that. [SPEAKER_00]: So this is going to be learning experience for all of us. [SPEAKER_00]: So I have zero idea about all of that stuff.

[SPEAKER_00]: So I want to see if, especially with subject and stuff, we hear these nightmare stories of like people that don't clean it out. [SPEAKER_00]: And then now all of a sudden, your basement is getting, it's getting back into your basement or whatever. [SPEAKER_00]: Which I really don't want.

[SPEAKER_01]: That's all I'm saying. [SPEAKER_01]: Sounds like a shitty situation to be honest. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: I'd co-ground everywhere. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, that is, and it might be irrational just because I've sold you to me. [SPEAKER_00]: So, it might be just that irrational fear of like, like, you know, could this happen, what this happened, whatever.

[SPEAKER_00]: And I was talking to the owner of the house that we're moving into, the current owner. [SPEAKER_00]: And he was like, yeah, we were up at a cottage. [SPEAKER_00]: has called it as French college one of that. [SPEAKER_00]: And he's like, we've got a phone call before I got there saying, hey, it stinks over here.

[SPEAKER_00]: And there's a sludge over here, and there's poop everywhere. [SPEAKER_00]: And then it turns out that they hadn't cleaned up thing in time or something in fact, why don't know what the exact situation was? [SPEAKER_00]: But so just protecting around that kind of stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: So that's new to me.

[SPEAKER_00]: There's also a natural gas generator. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, how do I stay here? [SPEAKER_00]: I was eventually going to look at doing batteries and stuff like that, but that's about a generator in there. [SPEAKER_00]: Probably not going to test that for a little bit, but eventually I want to see if I can get that connected or what we can deal with.

[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for that. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it is it is automated from from what I've heard there is like a failover mechanism where it's like if my power runs out or power goes out, yeah, that'll check for your turns on. [SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, so a couple years ago there was there's a power out of it.

[SPEAKER_00]: If you want to call it that, we're basically, the problem with well-inceptic is, well, you need to pump water out of the ground, which uses pumps which need electricity, so there's no electricity, there's no water. [SPEAKER_00]: So a lot of people in our area, not where I am right now again on the city water, so it's not as big a deal, but in the country areas around me, a lot of people [SPEAKER_00]: couldn't have water for a couple of days that obviously is a problem, so a lot of folks looked into getting a generator or some kind of backup power and I guess these guys were one of them.

[SPEAKER_00]: So that's kind of where a lot of that comes from. [SPEAKER_00]: So it is kind of important that we have that. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if it's a port that are monitored, I think that's more up. [SPEAKER_00]: I want to rather than I need to. [SPEAKER_00]: So it does automatically switch over.

[SPEAKER_00]: from what I've been told. [SPEAKER_00]: Again, I saw I haven't taken ownership yet. [SPEAKER_00]: I haven't done it. [SPEAKER_00]: I haven't seen it. [SPEAKER_00]: I've seen it, but I haven't played with it. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like that. [SPEAKER_00]: It's not mine yet. [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah.

[SPEAKER_00]: So those are probably the newer things that new to me kind of things that I don't, I don't know much about it or want to learn. [SPEAKER_00]: So it's a pool and the generator and that kind of stuff. [SPEAKER_01]: the move into the new home. [SPEAKER_01]: We're going to have a whole bunch of new things to learn about the home.

[SPEAKER_01]: We've now got an opportunity, right? [SPEAKER_01]: Like to start from scratch in this new home. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm thinking instruction manuals for the device that are there. [SPEAKER_01]: Basically, like a stoptake before we even arrive. [SPEAKER_01]: Have you thought about doing any of that?

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So, [SPEAKER_00]: What I did is, so as part of the, you know, home banking process, we did a home inspection, which I always recommend, you know, everybody does, so we got a proper home inspector to come in, there's a couple hundred bucks, whatever, well worth it, they go through everything and they go, they test every, they test the furnace, they test the stove, they test whatever, whatever there is to test.

[SPEAKER_00]: and they basically give you an inspection report of like and it's very comprehensive at least at least a person I used they were pretty comfortable to talk about it. [SPEAKER_00]: In my, I got in my head money well spent. [SPEAKER_00]: So what I did is I took the document that the report that he generated for me, combined that with like the whole, the listing, like the description of like the sale and stuff like that or what they're selling, put all that into basically who would drive and share that with Claude and [SPEAKER_00]: do this, do that find me, you know, what do I, like, how, what model is the jet?

[SPEAKER_00]: Like, as an example, right? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because they actually list all of that stuff where they can, they'll list serial numbers in there and stuff like that too. [SPEAKER_00]: So, which is awesome. [SPEAKER_00]: So, based on all of that, I kind of throw all of that into, into both Chaturty and Claude, and I actually got them to build me a- [SPEAKER_00]: between my wife and I were like using Apple notes and text messages and like 18 different things to track this move which is the worst idea I don't do that.

[SPEAKER_00]: So what I did is I used I just used notion and said okay let's create like a single or a place and it doesn't happen you know it's going to use whatever a fee and it's a self-hosted version of that you can use. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah I think I'm going to suggest another one you could use. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm sitting in, we can use, but I think it's harder to share it to the city and I'm less, you have to have a subscription or whatever.

[SPEAKER_00]: But regardless, what I did is, it said okay, let's use the notion of CP to share it to claw it into chat to PT and the reason I did both is because I was just struggling with it. [SPEAKER_00]: As I said, both my wife and I are trying to stay in sync. [SPEAKER_00]: the team spaces, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: So essentially, I had my account, I carry my number to account for my wife. [SPEAKER_00]: So like, hey, whatever we do, we can just all look at the same place, we can say things, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So their API or MCP doesn't cover that. [SPEAKER_00]: So, again, back to the drawing. [SPEAKER_00]: So I was troubleshooting it, so hence I'm using two LLMs.

[SPEAKER_00]: Because I thought it first, maybe as a restriction that, I don't know, chat to do with NavaltyDue, as I move to Cloud, Cloud was NavaltyDue, and like, eventually I found out. [SPEAKER_00]: That's a restriction. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm in the platform regardless. [SPEAKER_00]: I actually got it to build out an asset list a to do list a lot of that kind of stuff in notion So we can track all that stuff along with that.

[SPEAKER_00]: We're also putting our like Priorities so like when we move in like if you want to paint we want to you know Whatever any of those kind of things or when we take possession before we move in these are things we want to do And then after so we we're we're the sale in the house and the purchase that house is kind of [SPEAKER_00]: staggered, so we have a couple of weeks, maybe two weeks or another one, and then we have to play with cells that can move closer to the end of that, but then have time to, anything we want to change again, running cables and doing those kind of things, like let's just get all that stuff.

[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: If we can face a sharing and it becomes a whole thing to do. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Otherwise, like, okay, if I have furniture and now I need to paint and it's okay. [SPEAKER_00]: John. [SPEAKER_01]: That's good. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, we're having congratulations on the purchase of the house.

[SPEAKER_01]: We'll have a couple of weeks break here and there, like you move into the new house. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: What's a, having you set up back in action now, any plans for a recording studio or a recording office? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, my office is going to double as a studio, we space and what's nice in that house is that the room that I'm going to be taking as an office is a little bit bigger than that's so hopefully I can, you know, stick my 3D printer in there and do a lot of those kind of things as well.

[SPEAKER_00]: maybe a little more of a DIY kind of corner like I want to just play around with stuff and do that kind of thing, yeah, that's the idea. [SPEAKER_00]: So, and then yeah, I'm also going to set up my mic and lights and camera and all that stuff in there too. [SPEAKER_00]: So hopefully it'll be nice.

[SPEAKER_00]: So I want to figure out how I want to design it, what I want to do, where things are going to go, it's going to be a work in progress. [SPEAKER_00]: Hopefully I can get it all done before I move, but I don't know if that's realistic. [SPEAKER_01]: I'll see. [SPEAKER_01]: Look more than anything.

[SPEAKER_01]: Good luck on that. [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_00]: Appreciate it. [SPEAKER_00]: Cheers.
