Shownotes

<p>Jay Chandrasekhar wants <em>Super Troopers 3</em> to help bring loud, R-rated comedy back to theaters, and he’s not interested in turning it into another political shouting match. Talking with Kyle Meredith, the Broken Lizard filmmaker explains why the new sequel plays like <em>Meet the Parents</em> meets <em>Super Troopers</em>, how Farva’s Indian wedding opened the door for some seriously edgy jokes, and why one gag still went too far to survive. He also gets into the<em> Dukes of Hazzard</em>-style car jump, Mac getting frozen in maple syrup, the future of <em>Beerfest</em>, and finally putting his decades of standup on camera for <em>Brown Supremacist</em>. Nine films in, Broken Lizard is still chasing the big laugh and leaving just enough bait for the studio to order another round.</p><p>Listen to Jay Chandrasekhar chat about all this and more or watch it on <a href="youtu.be/pTpaciG1qVo"; rel="nofollow">YouTube</a>. [SPEAKER_02]: You know him, of course, as one fifth of Broken Lizard, behind such movies as Beerfest, ClubDread, Super Troopers, Super Troopers 2, and now, Super Troopers 3. [SPEAKER_02]: They are back with the third installment. [SPEAKER_02]: Let's read the synopsis here. [SPEAKER_02]: Everyone's favorite cops are back with the third installment of the Colt Comedy Classic from the Broken Lizard crew, Super Troopers 3.

[SPEAKER_02]: When Farva's wildly over-the-top Indian engagement to Thorny's sister spirals into chaos, the super-tubers must navigate Thorny's schemes to break up the relationship while trying to crack a pernicious new drug ring all to save the day and maybe the wedding itself. [SPEAKER_02]: Jay and I are going to get into, you know, when we're in the third one, nothing short of a miracle for, you know, what started as just a little indie movie they made for a million dollars.

[SPEAKER_02]: So we'll talk about coming up with a story in the pressure of making a third film. [SPEAKER_02]: Getting to this one a little bit quicker and emulating folks like like Monti Python, you know, some of their their biggest heroes. [SPEAKER_02]: We'll also talk about a little bit about some keeping politics out of the film.

[SPEAKER_02]: We're not going to talk about politics, but you know, it's because the Super Troopers are based in Vermont. [SPEAKER_02]: There's always kind of a Canadian thing, and how tempting is it for screenwriters to kind of lean into current day politics. [SPEAKER_02]: So we'll talk about that. [SPEAKER_02]: We'll talk about the incredible reaction that they're getting from fans.

[SPEAKER_02]: And I want to hear about some of the things within the movie. [SPEAKER_02]: Some Creek Jumpin' with Dukes or Hazard Style Cars. [SPEAKER_02]: There's a Mac ends up in this, you know, Han Solo and Carbonite type of thing, but with maple syrup So we're gonna hear about the actual physical models They made of that and where that is and the Indian culture jailings way harder into Indian culture jokes into this one more than he has in the other two movies So we'll hear about that and [SPEAKER_02]: coincidentally, as we were talking, they had just announced his new standup special called Brown Supremacist.

[SPEAKER_02]: It is for solo standup special ever even though he's been doing standup comedy for decades now. [SPEAKER_02]: So we'll get a little teaser on that and and if we might can expect more super troopers or even that sequel to beer fest in the future, all that and more as we talk super troopers three, it's Kyle [SPEAKER_02]: Hello, it's it's a busy time.

[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, what a what a nice time. [SPEAKER_02]: We got super triple three. [SPEAKER_02]: I just saw the news. [SPEAKER_02]: You got your new stand up special. [SPEAKER_02]: What is it brown supremacists that's going to be coming out. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, this is a nice busy week for you.

[SPEAKER_02]: Congrats, man. [SPEAKER_01]: You're the first person to interview me about that special. [SPEAKER_02]: We'll be able to merge it to make it. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, just the timing of the news and complete luck, you know, and good work on your your policy as far as well. [SPEAKER_02]: I do want to hit on that, and I feel like there's even a tie that we'll get to between the two projects, but super troopers three, I mean, it's one, one, it's funny.

[SPEAKER_02]: and what a great story. [SPEAKER_02]: But to think God is funny because a third time around for anything, you just don't know how that's going to work out. [SPEAKER_02]: And the fact that you all pulled off every single time, really, I got nothing but praise right there. [SPEAKER_02]: This is such a fun movie that you've done.

[SPEAKER_02]: I, uh, uh, thank you for that. [SPEAKER_01]: Um, you know, it's true that it's high pressure to try to do a third one. [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, but, you know, realistically, this whole game of making movies is one big high pressure game. [SPEAKER_01]: It's public. [SPEAKER_01]: It's, uh, you know, you give people an opportunity to write about you and your talents and your lack of talents.

[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, and I like the big game. [SPEAKER_02]: I enjoy the big game. [SPEAKER_02]: What happened so much faster this time, too, right? [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I mean, the second one takes a while. [SPEAKER_02]: And then this one, I don't know the timeline, but this one feels a lot quicker, like what changed this time around.

[SPEAKER_01]: Well, when we've made the first one, the studio made the film from million two, and then they've made about 23 in the box office and something like 150 on home video. [SPEAKER_01]: And so they were like, let's make another one. [SPEAKER_01]: And we said, you know, if we make another one, [SPEAKER_01]: Right now we'll end up being the police academy guys who made I think 11 of them and by the way good for them But some of those 11 are great.

[SPEAKER_01]: Well, they never you know, they're while they are a group that made the same kind of movies Is they we are goal was to try to do something more like money Python [SPEAKER_01]: uh... i even named the group broken lizard so that people would think of money python uh... so we decided to go in the absolute opposite direction and make club dread which is a horror movie which i think while people love that movie now some people [SPEAKER_01]: it was too large a tonal jump to come after super troopers because people were like oh I thought you guys were the comedy guys and there's all this horror and there's blood and uh and and then if we open against passion the Christ and we got creep the movie has since made money it has since found a lot of no they're a number of people of our fans who claim that's the best one we

[SPEAKER_01]: we did what we wanted to do because we we're now this is our ninth film if you count our stand-up special it's our ninth film and you know Python obviously had a fantastic television show and they got to about four films so I don't know why they stopped but they stopped. [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, you know, kids in the hall did a great one great film and and maybe they'll do more I don't know, but they'd seem, you know, right now we're, we're, we're sitting on that record right now.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you're at the top of that mountain. [SPEAKER_02]: Or volume, not necessarily quality, but volume we got everybody beat. [SPEAKER_02]: But luckily, it is a good quality, and I guess that's what I've eaten right there, I mean, if it wasn't, you wouldn't have gotten to the night, you know, definitely not the same as police academy.

[SPEAKER_02]: You might have started with the same people, but a lot of other hands eventually in those pods, you know, and it does start deteriorating, but you do, you take your time, you come up with the stories, which I guess that's the obvious re-intro here to Super Troopers 3, like, so where does this story come from?

[SPEAKER_02]: At what point do you start [SPEAKER_01]: You know, we thought about it, and we're like, we could, like, uh, NYPD blue to 200 episodes of that show, right? [SPEAKER_01]: It's just cops solving crimes, which with some male nudity in it. [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, and we were like, well, we could just do another one, just do another one.

[SPEAKER_01]: And then we decided, why don't we try something a little different and get a little more, kind of personal on it? [SPEAKER_01]: And have it less be about a crime crime, even though there's some crime in this, and have it more be about what would happen if the worst guy in your office started dating your sister.

[SPEAKER_01]: That was sort of the original idea, and then we're like, okay, what would happen if he was going to marry your sister? [SPEAKER_01]: And what if, you know, it was the guy who really just liked him the most, my character thorny. [SPEAKER_01]: So it's far of his going to try to marry my sister.

[SPEAKER_01]: And then I'm going to spend the movie trying to stop it, right? [SPEAKER_01]: It's effectively what we've tried to do is make me the parents meet super troopers. [SPEAKER_01]: And my buddy John Hamburg made me the parents so I will thank him when I see him. [SPEAKER_02]: So is that the way you picture to the studio suit?

[SPEAKER_02]: Because you got to go online, you know? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's me the parents meet super troopers and if when I watch it, I'm like, yeah, yeah, I'm the DeNero character, I guess. [SPEAKER_01]: If you're going to beat them, buddy, right? [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, if you really look at it and lay one movie over the other, that's sort of the concept.

[SPEAKER_02]: And we'll be right back right after this. [SPEAKER_02]: Welcome back. [SPEAKER_02]: It's Kyle, man. [SPEAKER_02]: It's with Jay Shondra's Sikar. [SPEAKER_02]: So then it becomes, I mean, you get into it. [SPEAKER_02]: And the great thing with you all, it's like, how far can you push? [SPEAKER_02]: how far can you push it, you know, like at one point when I started hearing it was going to do and there's always the whole candidate thing right there and it's like that's interesting because if you wanted to tie it to what was going on and, you know, trump and tariffs and whatever and you didn't, you don't go that route and that's a choice too.

[SPEAKER_02]: Did that ever come up? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'll tell you, I have a political opinion that is my own. [SPEAKER_01]: And the people who watch these movies, [SPEAKER_01]: Look, if you want, if you really want to know about Trump and politics, there are so many great channels to hear about how much he, how great he is or how not great he is.

[SPEAKER_01]: But there's a problem in this country, which is that we, we have, uh, [SPEAKER_01]: Partly fragmented over the concept that we've fragmented over what we're watching. [SPEAKER_01]: And I think that we need to do our part as like our rated comedians to kind of go, you can check that shit at the door.

[SPEAKER_01]: I'm care who you're for. [SPEAKER_01]: You may have an idea who I'm for, but this movie is going to try to escape. [SPEAKER_01]: You're going to escape for two hours and hopefully what will happen is what happens in our other movies, which is [SPEAKER_01]: When I do a stand-up show, I see a table full of, like, long-haired weed smoke and stoneers next to a table full of, like, soldiers and cops, and they're all laugh at the same thing.

[SPEAKER_01]: And you're like, okay, there's a little commonality here. [SPEAKER_01]: That's that's the bigger picture goal for us. [SPEAKER_02]: Plus, I mean, you know, once you do that, you're putting it in a time, too, like the fact that Super Troopers gets to be timeless. [SPEAKER_02]: Because you've got great comedies, and even when they sneak one person, that's real, you know, for a political joke, and suddenly that's always there.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Always there. [SPEAKER_02]: But it's, you know, that's what I wondered by the way, is how tempting is it to go there as a writer? [SPEAKER_01]: It's tempting because it's so much a part of everything we read about today that you're like, how can we not do it? [SPEAKER_01]: But, uh, but that's how you can not do it.

[SPEAKER_02]: The way you did it, you can not do it. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, interestingly, the, a lot of the, the counties that did the best, the theaters that did the best on SuperTrippers 2, who are having to be in the counties that Trump won. [SPEAKER_01]: The Rand, and you're like, what is that, tell you, it, it tells you maybe the, there, you know, less PC, they're more into like, um, edgy comedy, they're less worried about language [SPEAKER_01]: And frankly, they love cops, you know?

[SPEAKER_01]: I also love cops. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: We made a decision and I feel good about it. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, and you know, even getting comedy into theaters right now feels like it's own mountain to climb. [SPEAKER_02]: because and I guess what I'm getting to is, you know, in those first two films, especially that first one, you know, she's comedy was still, you could go any weekend and see great comedy.

[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, again, I'm pulling back the curtain here because there's a film maker like it's one thing to do it and know that you're doing a comedy and then a go and can we get it, you know, a wide release. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's a risk, and there are a number of streaming straight to video, straight to whatever streaming.

[SPEAKER_01]: I'm still going to call it straight to video, it's fine. [SPEAKER_01]: But they would love us to make movies for them. [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, where's the magic in that? [SPEAKER_01]: Like, where's the, you know, if you don't have a press campaign, you're not going around to every single writer and doing pictures and going to wrestling events, what is the movie, really?

[SPEAKER_01]: Like, as it's, you know, some of these streaming services are like, it's on there, it'll probably get an audience and then they'll tell other people. [SPEAKER_01]: and okay and you're like who cares I just don't I don't watch I don't really watch streaming movies ever I watched one of them on Netflix and this is how little I watch of these movies is the one word of the sky I got asteroid was falling and I think Julia Roberts was in it uh oh yeah the uh right yeah they're in combat end of the world whatever yeah right yeah I liked it [SPEAKER_01]: But that's the only one I can only that's the only one I've seen.

[SPEAKER_01]: I literally haven't watched because I'm like look I know Silicon Valley like likes to remake everything in our world but The remaking of the movie business has not been good for the movie business. [SPEAKER_01]: So Doesn't mean we have to just sit there and take it and so I said the search item like we have to [SPEAKER_01]: Bring back the R-rated theatrical comedy like you guys and us have to bring it back now.

[SPEAKER_01]: The way and brothers with scary movie five Already did right in in in June and I really appreciate them for doing that and we're hoping to come in behind them and do something You know do something to go just so people go. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, oh yeah, I remember that.

[SPEAKER_01]: I remember laughing with strangers. [SPEAKER_01]: And I was laughing. [SPEAKER_02]: Nothing against the rebro comedy. [SPEAKER_02]: I love that too, but the fact that, you know, it's laugh out loud, and that's what I get, you know, from your movies. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: It is, it isn't the, oh, that's funny, you know, that's it.

[SPEAKER_01]: This movie, you know, if I can brag a little, it tested the highest of any film and search light's history. [SPEAKER_01]: Is that right? [SPEAKER_01]: I can't really show them in search of my history. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, like, what is that against? [SPEAKER_01]: What is that? [SPEAKER_01]: Little miscension, uh, it's against, uh, the full Monty.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's against, uh, uh, every Emma Stone movie, every Oscar winning movie, every single damn one of them. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: You're ghost, the lobster, like, you know. [SPEAKER_02]: because it's that funny, and maybe what you're saying, and talk about the timing right now, because people just wanting that back in their life, you know, but it's still got to work.

[SPEAKER_02]: I guess. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, who knows if it will? [SPEAKER_01]: Like I can, I can sit here and say we're going to bring back the actual comedy, and then with the movie may not work, and then luckily for me, Trump will say something crazy in a few days, and that would be talking about that and stop talking about how I failed.

[SPEAKER_01]: You're not going to film. [SPEAKER_02]: And we'll be right back right after this. [SPEAKER_02]: Welcome back. [SPEAKER_02]: It's Kyle, man. [SPEAKER_02]: It's with Jay Shondra's Saykar. [SPEAKER_01]: But you know, because again, there are so many parts. [SPEAKER_01]: And you know, we don't want to give away all the movie, but there are certain things that I didn't want to ask.

[SPEAKER_02]: But like, like, there is a great, creek jumping thing that goes on in the movie. [SPEAKER_02]: And I thought you got some history with that with the Duke's a hazard. [SPEAKER_02]: And was there any relation between the two? [SPEAKER_01]: I remember feeling, uh, elation when I was a child watching, uh, the generality jump over crakes.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I remember feeling the same joy when smoking the band it when burnt jumped that car, the black transam over crick. [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, [SPEAKER_01]: That was a primal reaction of a young suburban kid in Chicago, and there's something about that that's probably universal and human, and I bet there are a lot of kids, hopefully old enough to watch some movie, people who will go, oh, ah, ah, there's a fucking car jumping over the creek, so we just decided [SPEAKER_01]: You know, we were like, oh, I want to have the stunts have that kind of stunt, and we're like, why don't we just create these guys who are like the northern dukes and we'll put the American flag on the roof of their car and it's, you know, it's just so that, you know, people will feel a certain way about that jump, hopefully.

[SPEAKER_02]: You can put a jump in every movie. [SPEAKER_01]: It's great. [SPEAKER_01]: I love it. [SPEAKER_02]: I love it. [SPEAKER_02]: There's also Mac and's up in syrup, and again, I won't say why and everything, but does that it still exist somewhere? [SPEAKER_02]: Whatever template you all had to make to make that happen?

[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, yes, they're two of them. [SPEAKER_01]: And I know, let me once, one of them, Steve, let me once, one of them, and the other one, I think somebody high up in the studio once at [SPEAKER_02]: I love that maybe one day that's going to, I mean, what planet Hollywood's not around anymore, but like they didn't have been a planet Hollywood, it's yeah.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean we've become the strange thing like we did it, we did an event at wrestling, WWE SummerSlam because they bought like a bunch of advertising. [SPEAKER_01]: So we went to this wrestling event in [SPEAKER_01]: Minneapolis, and we're dressed at our highway patrol uniforms, and the place went bananas.

[SPEAKER_01]: They're like, and, you know, we're taking a million pictures, and it was like, I was like, you know, this is like, we made this little independent film, and then here we are, and it's Rocky III. [SPEAKER_01]: like, you know, we're like, at a wrestling event, all the wrestlers know us. [SPEAKER_01]: They're waving, we're taking pictures of them.

[SPEAKER_01]: We're, you know, you're like, this has become this, like, they're like characters that exist outside the independent film world. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you know, if we don't end it, I bet one of these things ends up at the wax museum someday. [SPEAKER_01]: As they should. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, why not?

[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's silly. [SPEAKER_01]: It's weird. [SPEAKER_01]: It's strange to be part of it. [SPEAKER_02]: Just I mean, and that's what that's our favorite movies, right? [SPEAKER_02]: There are so many little things in there. [SPEAKER_02]: They just become its own life. [SPEAKER_02]: And I don't know, you all have done beyond the lines.

[SPEAKER_02]: I guess is what I'm saying because the lines are of course their own thing. [SPEAKER_02]: You know, people shutting them back and all that stuff, but the actual props becoming on solo and carbonite, you know, to to go that routes, I mean to really stamp into that. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't mean I love that stuff.

[SPEAKER_02]: I do, but I love what you do with the story and and again, this third time is you're saying, you know, the fact that you, you know, [SPEAKER_02]: your sister is marrying him. [SPEAKER_02]: It gives you an opportunity, I guess, to lean into the Indian culture part of it. [SPEAKER_02]: And that becomes its own thing.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like, is there a line you can cross? [SPEAKER_02]: Like, you know, how much like choosing to have fun with that? [SPEAKER_01]: There was one joke that, first of all, my official position is that I wrote all the Indian jokes, and Heffronen was a forced Kevin Heffronen to say them. [SPEAKER_01]: And I told him, I'm like, look, I understand that these are edgy, some of these are edgy jokes.

[SPEAKER_01]: But I'll go up to the podium and say, I wrote it, what are you going to do about it? [SPEAKER_01]: And there was one joke that somebody proposed. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, I mean, I need to be able to travel to India. [SPEAKER_01]: I cannot, I won't survive. [SPEAKER_01]: I won't survive. [SPEAKER_01]: So there was one that went over the line and I'm like we're just not doing that show and everyone's like okay But just one you get the rest one the other one's I put in and I was a little wondering look it's it's politically different time around language and Something which I have not always look we're not here to pick people feel bad But we are here to sort of say the joke we're really thinking

[SPEAKER_01]: uh... and i'm not afraid of of language uh... it's fine you know the reality is people speak differently in private uh... then they do in public and we're trying to reflect some of that on to this treats by the i've heard racial comments from indians before okay like plenty of times [SPEAKER_01]: So it's not like, you know, the impression that people have because of the movies and is that, oh, these poor minorities are here and there are some of the white people who racist against them and you're like, yeah, you should have heard my grandmother.

[SPEAKER_01]: Like, it's like just, let's be honest. [SPEAKER_01]: Let's be a little more honest. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not for racism, okay. [SPEAKER_01]: But I am for a using racial humor. [SPEAKER_01]: I find it funny sometimes. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, and the way you use the parents to kind of, not the scapegoats, but I really think that their characters bring the allowance for how that all works.

[SPEAKER_02]: They do. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: They're great by the way. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, great. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they really, you know, the funny thing about them was that they were like, you know, we never get to tell the jokes in the movies. [SPEAKER_01]: We're always like [SPEAKER_01]: You know, whatever, human traffic, egg, or like we're never get to be the one who cracks actual, full-on, full-tilt, already, jokes.

[SPEAKER_01]: And they said we cannot, both of them, we're like, we can't really tell you how much we appreciate that. [SPEAKER_01]: The guy at ball was like, I'm in the three way with the hot chicks. [SPEAKER_01]: I am. [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, yeah, bro, you guys, I can't believe it. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh man, in the leg part of the, oh man, and now you don't even actually see it and I still felt it.

[SPEAKER_02]: That's that's really good editing right there. [SPEAKER_02]: That's what that was, that's all of that. [SPEAKER_02]: So, so I am going to use that as a turning point here because you did just announce that the special and it's gone round supremacist. [SPEAKER_02]: So, and of course, I haven't seen it, you know, just got to know some of the day and everything.

[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, I'm looking for the answers here too, but, but does it change when you're behind the mic on the stand-up on something called like this versus how we're talking about it in the film? [SPEAKER_01]: It gets a lot, a lot, a lot, edgeier, because I can explain and set up [SPEAKER_01]: things exactly the way I want to in a way that even though I'm directing the movie and editing the movie, I'm not the one saying all the lines every time, right?

[SPEAKER_01]: So it's like it's a different version [SPEAKER_01]: of all these topics, race and sex and, and, but I'm able to craft it exactly the way I intend. [SPEAKER_01]: And again, it's like, I say things, somethings, if, you know, I guess somebody might be bothered by, but I'll be like, oh, no, that's what I meant.

[SPEAKER_01]: I meant it exactly that way. [SPEAKER_02]: Right, right. [SPEAKER_01]: No. [SPEAKER_01]: When's the last time you did one? [SPEAKER_01]: Put out a special? [SPEAKER_01]: Well, we did one with Broken Lizard, called Broken Lizard stands up, which was like a, I don't know, 10 years ago. [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[SPEAKER_01]: I'd weed you 20 minutes of stand up in that. [SPEAKER_01]: And so this is really the first special I've ever done. [SPEAKER_01]: I've been touring the country since I was, [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, 30 or, you know, like I started at 19, but I've been just, you know, I do 50 dates a year around the country.

[SPEAKER_01]: Just, you know, go and do a weekend and do five shows and come back. [SPEAKER_02]: But now with some say, hey, we should probably turn on the camera. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I just felt like it's funny because, you know, people know that I make movies. [SPEAKER_01]: So when there's a movie, they're like, okay, we understand that he doesn't.

[SPEAKER_01]: But stand up a lot of times, they're like, you do stand up. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, I've been since I was a teenager. [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm like, I'm a little bit going, hey. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I do just stand up and you're going to see it in this thing. [SPEAKER_01]: So I also think that it's a great, it's a great way to sort of really control your jokes because nobody gets to say, oh, you get to Chappelle, you can't do that joke, you have he decides.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I think, you know, I plan to do a lot more stand up in this next decade or two. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I'm happy to hear that, but it is, but it's nice just to have, as you're saying, sort of the calling card. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, the calling card, the freedom of the money. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, because it does have to work for you once it gets out there, you know?

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and you know, like, the reason Chappelle is in movies is because some studio had was like, that dude's funny put him in the movies. [SPEAKER_01]: It's helpful. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, I look, when's that coming out? [SPEAKER_02]: I know, I should have 20. [SPEAKER_02]: I'll get 20.

[SPEAKER_02]: I'll get 20. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: Vips, which is like a paper view platform. [SPEAKER_02]: I know. [SPEAKER_02]: Vips, very familiar with that one. [SPEAKER_02]: And in the meantime, we got super troopers three, of course, that's coming out this weekend. [SPEAKER_02]: And then, you know, there's a nice little tag at the end.

[SPEAKER_02]: How many more of these, you want to do? [SPEAKER_02]: You know, we're going to search for curly's gold. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean we put yeah it is curly school we put them we put those little jokes at the end of movies because it's like It's a little bit of manifestation. [SPEAKER_01]: It's we're trying to like manipulate the studio into going wait a minute or having the conversation they're like are we did we agreed to make that film and then in their minds They're like I maybe I mean You know, and then if the movie does well enough they will come to us and say do you want to do it and we're like no, no, maybe [SPEAKER_01]: You know, we did this with the beer fest, and it's funny how angry some of these stoners have gotten, because they're like, every time we make a new movie, they're like, wait, man, you said you were going to make bad fast.

[SPEAKER_01]: And you're like, we will, but Paramount is trying to buy Warner Brothers, and we can't control that. [SPEAKER_01]: We can make a pot movie without those characters, but I'm like, I don't know, is that certain? [SPEAKER_01]: Very, very fun. [SPEAKER_02]: I'd love to see them. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_02]: You know, beer, pie pot, bourbon, I mean Kentucky, you can do bourbon, but bourbon's best. [SPEAKER_02]: Just giving notes here. [SPEAKER_02]: That's what I'm doing. [SPEAKER_01]: We were thinking about doing fuck fast, right? [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, we could do any kind of fast, right? [SPEAKER_02]: There's an already-movie.

[SPEAKER_02]: We're more. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Pretty good on. [SPEAKER_02]: I have no doubt in your old hands. [SPEAKER_02]: It'll be the perfect movie, uh, regardless. [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, but Jay, seriously, congrats. [SPEAKER_02]: Congrats on the special, uh, congrats on, uh, supertubers 3 and getting this across the line.

[SPEAKER_02]: Um, as we were saying at the beginning, it's impossible to make a movie. [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, and the fact that you can get it here and and still be just knocking them out of the part nine films and that's huge to show business miracle. [SPEAKER_02]: It's exactly what it is. [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, it's been a pleasure talking to you.
