DEUTSCH:

ENGLISH:

Helga Duffy is 99 years old and she's standing on an airplane. Not inside – on top of the wing, strapped in, with the wind all around her.

It all started in her care home in England. Helga saw a woman in the news. She was 97 years old and had stood on an airplane. Someone from the night shift had an idea: Helga can do that too!

Helga was a nurse for many years. Now she wants to do something crazy. And she wants to raise money for the air ambulance. For her family, it is something very special.

The plan: fly on her 99th birthday. But then Helga has to wait three more weeks.

Then October 16th arrives. Helga goes to a small airfield in Gloucestershire. A biplane is standing there. They strap Helga onto the upper wing.

She flies through the air for eight minutes. Down below, a man from Guinness World Records is waiting. He gives her the official certificate: oldest woman on an airplane wing. The old record was only three months old.

Was Helga scared? "No," she says. "I was far too excited!"

She raises over 1,300 pounds for the air ambulance. And she already has a new plan: "At 100, I'll do it again!"
