As you dive into the episode, be sure to help us out by taking our listener survey: forms.gle/rWrBD79Zp62n8HQr5 The multitude of legends have been looked at, but what else are we putting into our decks? Your fellow Patreon supporting listeners have their picks for cards that stood out from the set along with their insights for where they fit as cards for the 99 of your decks. Kyle and Andy sprinkle in a few picks too. Let's geek out and buy more cardboard. If you want a list of cards covered in the episode, find it in the lists-from-the-pod channel on the LCP Discord. All right, we ready for this? I am ready. All right. It's 99 for reality. Fracture. Indeed. Kyle, do you want to now make announcements about our Patreon again just to make sure or. Yeah. So there's a couple things that we're doing. So Patreon is moving away from offering the ability to charge per creation, which is the model that you and I have always used, where you, the listener, the supporting listener, the Patreon supporting listener don't get charged unless Andy and I produce content.

They are eliminating that model for various legal reasons you can look into if you want. As a result, we are moving to a per month subscription. That Patreon only model that Patreon offers now so that change will happen as you listen. I think it's scheduled to happen on October 23rd so soon? If you're a current subscriber, you'll be auto moved over to a monthly subscription tier.

But for any new listeners or any new subscribers, that's what you'd be subscribing to. We will change those tears in the near future. Andy and I have been collecting survey data. The survey still open. I'll post a link in the show notes of this episode, so if you haven't participated in that, we'd love to hear from you.

Takes maybe 5 to 7 minutes, please. Thank you. Helps us kind of determine some of the things you and I have outlined, some things that we think we can do with some new tears and some offerings that we can provide. So stay tuned. We will make those known, I think in the month of November is the plan for us to to make the shift for those.

Yeah. Just wanted to get that out in the front. Yeah, yeah. So buried at the bottom of an episode that people probably won't finish. Yeah. We typically get excited to get into the content and then we go, oh yeah, there's business stuff that we should talk about that we should talk about. Yeah. So there it is.

Okay, so speaking of Patreon patrons, this is their reviews of the 99 for Reality fracture. That's correct. As submitted by them. We put a form out on our discord. You pick up a card, you review the card, Kyle reads the review, and Andy and Kyle spend money on cards. Exactly. Because I'm like, oh, that is a good is a good idea.

Yeah. So anything else? I think that's about it. So the the Patreon supporters are the ones providing the reviews. You will notice this is a ways past when most people are traditionally doing a review season. I do like to give people a chance to make contact with them. Whether you've gone to a prerelease or started to crack them open on, arena or in person.

So let's get into it. Okay. Well, it is the first one. I am completely unprepared, I am prepared, I have it, can I do it? Go ahead and read the card. This is germinate recruits. It's two in a white. For an instant you create x two two colorless wizard soldier creature tokens named cadet. Where x is the amount of life you've gained this turn. Yo.

Okay, this is being reviewed by Lenny, aka Jonny's gay pride mate. And in terms of, you know, do you see this card getting adoption? Lenny mentions that it has niche application as to why we should be paying attention to this card. While Life game players are no doubt salivating at the prospect of flooding the board with this, I think our risk to players are the ones who ought to be paying attention to the possibilities of this solid new role player.

Oh no. Imagine training the table for a respectable five with your Zula port cutthroat and following up with five fresh new bodies to feed the machine. Seems great to me. I agree that's actually a legitimately really good insight. Yeah, that's that's the output right there for probably a lot of people playing this.

Oh yeah. Yeah, that's hot to trot okay. What's the next one. Let me sorry I need to sort this. So you go okay I know the next one. I know it's way of the mentor. It's two in a white for a legendary enchantment. When way of the mentor enters the enters empower Jace five. Okay, so I need to take us through this.

What the empower means five. Loyalty counters on a Chase token you control if you don't control one. First, create a Blue Jays Planeswalker token with minus one loyalty. Surveil one minus three loyalty. Draw a card and then this. That wasn't enough. It says whenever you gain life, put a loyalty counter on each planeswalker you control.

Okay, so it's like an army of Jace, an army of chase. And you have to sing the Bjork song when you do the empowering which Bjork song? Army of me. Okay, okay, I like this. Did I read the right one on the prior one? The germinate. You did the germinate recruits. Yeah. Yeah yeah. That's the one we started with okay.

Are are you worried that we're I'm like, did I read the wrong review. So you just did way of the mentors. The way of the tour okay I think we missed the first two in white. I'm going off the order of the list you gave me. Okay. There's still two remaining. Okay, well, this review is also by Lenny. Okay. For way of the mentor.

And Lenny says it's his precious as to why we should be paying attention to it. Look, I'm happy to see my favorite cat daddy, on more cards, but a loyalty counter on each planeswalker is a lot for such an easy trigger to mine. And somehow, despite being a white card, the phrase once per turn is nowhere to be found.

People playing against your Super Friends deck are already making the uncomfortable choice of attacking your planeswalker over you. Why not make it that much worse by rewarding yourself for making that life total balloon out of control? Yeah, this is that. Jace is pretty handy. The surveil. Every time you're getting a life, you can get another crack out of this thing.

If you've got a lot of soul sisters on, they convert into draw a little bit. So it's a pretty handy thing, even if you're just not really doing the planeswalker strategy because you already have one off of the empower J. So it just starts feeding itself. Yeah, if that makes sense, that you could look at this like a another version of that angel where whenever you gain life, they put a counter on them whenever you can put a dark angel of soon.

Right. I don't think that's who it is. I can never remember the name, but the. Oh, with the system for. It's a four man of three three flier. If you gain life, you get a counter. But if you put a counter on this creature. Oh, yeah. Yeah. The archangel of food is counter on all your creations at all. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I get you, I get you.

Okay, okay. Is the next one. Let's go up the alphabet to the fate shaper. Aspirant. This is reviewed by Tristan. Destroy Ender four and a white for a three for rhino cleric. When this creature enters, choose one return target legendary card from your graveyard to your hand. Or put plus one. Put a plus one plus one counter on target creature.

It gains vigilance and indestructible until end of turn. Okay, okay. So destroy. Ender says that this card has niche application as to why we should be paying attention. First off Rhino. So their immediate ten out of ten. Okay, beyond my obsession on the floor, it is a free pass to swing with the creature to avoid commander tax on the ceiling like a flicker deck.

This becomes a menace that makes your board really hard to deal with. Plus, with how congested the legend spaces nowadays, this can be a really good recursion piece in any white deck. Good card good. Rhino. Very very cool. Yeah, I don't know if I'm there with that. With with this one. Like you're like, I'm not seeing it.

Yeah. Like it come into hand for five mana. We know about reanimate spells that will pull any creature at rate. I mean, karmic guide is is one that jumps out to me. There's quite a few in white, right? Yeah. That other piece in gaining indestructible and vigilance. If this had flash, then I would change my mind about this.

Yes, but, yeah, I don't think I'm really there with this one. I will say it's worth paying attention to them using something. The language of returning a legendary from your graveyard to hand. Often there's a lot of restrictions in true white to any card. I guess if I lose that goddamn sort of the anime, I can get it back.

That being said, in this set, there's also the you know, whatever the white version of rise of the Dark Realms is, that's fairly indiscriminate. So, yeah. You know, white doesn't necessarily always discriminate. My way of the mentor got destroyed. I'm going to return it with a fate shaper aspirant. Which, honestly, you son.

Titans. Probably good enough in that case, right? You. Damn it, dude, even when I'm trying to help this card, I can't. Yeah, it's like, well, it's three, so sun tits will do the trick. Yeah. That's on. Tits will do it. Okay, what's the next one? The Weber has flickering hound for us three. And the art on this is correct. Dude.

Three and a white for a two. Two. Whenever you cast a creature spell, exile up to one other target creature you control, then return that card to the battlefield under its owners control. Who's a good boy? Who's a really good boy? Yeah. So Jeff says of this that this card is absolutely going to get brought adoption in terms of why we should be paying attention to it.

Creatures may not have the instant speed potential of instance causing flicker with displacer kitten, but I still think blink players will be clamoring for their copies of the dog, I agree. Yeah, and, zone changes everybody. Zone changes flicker that fate. Shaper aspirant. Now you can with your flickering hound.

Hell yeah, you can. That's it for white, right? What's. What's up with the next one? Let me get filtered for blue. And our first one here is Cruel Calculations reviewed by the stumble. So two in a blue for a sorcery. Draw X cards where X is the number of cards that were put into target players graveyard from their library this turn.

I'm really glad someone reviewed this. This was the one that was on my list. If if nobody brought it up right? So the stomp all just says of this card that it is absolutely going to get broad adoption and explains the reason we should be paying attention to it is cast fractured sanity. Draw 14 cards for a total of six mana.

Pretty good cycle, fractured Sanity and draw five cards for five mana. I think that's on rate. Traumatize someone with your brew vac out, and then win the game off your lab manifest for some amount of mana. Yeah, yeah, I guess there's some amount of mana. We'll figure that out. This card is pretty good for mill decks of all flavors to actually draw cards off your mill, provided you can spend three more mana to do it.

I mean, you tell me you're the mill guy. Yeah, I mean, I, I was just, I think just a attaching draw to mill fills, like a good little niche piece of thing to do. I guess the thing I was excited about with this is that, you know, with mill, you're not having to necessarily decide, like, well, is mill just my sole source of draw or my primary source of draw?

Or am I going to just use generic blue draw? I like that there's something like this now that's that's pretty specific. And it seemed that rate right. Like you can produce a pretty big number with with a mill deck, like a lot of different mill decks, you can produce a pretty large number for that X. Yeah, I remember that.

Like there might be a version. Is there an instant. Is there an instant that has everybody mill or not. So there's, there is an I think it's an instant where you can doesn't have the motive. You can either have them draw or mill. Oh yeah. And if you control your commander it does both I think. Yeah. I'm kind of thinking about Alanya because Tiff has some.

Oh right. Pretty heavy mill in that deck. Interesting. Because of the just the twinning nature of the. And I'll just say on a personal note, I think if your meta is just kind of leaning into mill, like, I think we're in a moment right now, I. I think you might find other people set you up a decent amount of time with a card like this.

Like I genuinely think in our group there's probably games where I could just sit there and be like, looks like this is a pretty good Kim Mill turn. I mean, sorcery, but yeah, that's a tough part. Yeah, but if you can find your way around to it, like. Yeah, I wonder what the harm would have been if this was an instant considering that it's true.

It's true, I guess. Yeah. It does force you to be the person in a likelihood to create the mill mill. But, you know, there might be ways. Okay. All right. What's the next one? Yeah. So the WinRAR has for a seasoned cryo. Mansour. It's like a twist on the seasoned pyromancer romance. Or one in a blue and a blue for a two two human wizard.

When this creature enters, draw two cards, then discard two cards. When you discard one or more non LAN cards. This way, tap up to that many target creatures and put a stun counter on them. And if that wasn't enough, you can pay five. So three. Blue blue. Exile this card from your graveyard. Draw two cards.

Okay. I'm interested. I'm listening. So the WinRAR says that this cards absolutely going to get brought adoption. As to why we we should be paying attention. Card selection and stunning make this guy a powerful role player and blink, clone or type decks in either of his well-supported types. His graveyard draw mode is on the pricey side, but it gives you extra utility if you're in the business of milling yourself and can be done at instant speed, which is a good point.

That's a lot of mana, but if you just incidentally end up with this guy there and don't have something to do with your mana that you held up, now you do. Yeah, I have a versions of this in my wizard deck. So do you. Yeah, like some version of it. There's one that's like a zombie from. Is it a zombie?

It's from almond Cat, where you draw to just you. You draw their power and discard two. But it has like an eternal eyes ability. So if you've got, like, an anthem going on or whatever, there's like a way to kind of hold on to cards. Otherwise you're just drawing to discarding to. Yeah, but yeah, it doesn't have, this thing going on with it where you've got the stun counters and then like, if it ends up in your yard for some reason, you get one more crack at grabbing some cards.

So I think this is a great, great card for that stunt counters. Right. Yeah. Like I'm I'm into stunt counters. What's the next one? Yeah. So, our listeners weren't two into two impressed by blue. So we're moving over to black. Do we want to cover our cards from this or. I was just going to do us at the end.

But okay. We can we can do that. Whichever is easier. Let's let's just do our picks at the end. Sprinkle in our stuff at the end. Yeah. All right. So kicking off black, we have Jake aka cinder who's got castaway. Doubt. Cast away. Doubt. Two in a black for a sorcery. Draw two cards. Cast away. Doubt deals two damage to each player.

Okay, just straight up. Take it. Yeah. Do you see this card getting broad adoption? Cinder says absolutely as to why we should be paying attention. It deals damage to other players. This can be modified by damage. Doubles enable spectacle and cast it in Judith Connoisseur and it becomes draw to deal to damage to each opponent and gain six life.

Wild. Yeah, the damage is just very efficient for the cost. And you get two cards for your trouble. Yeah, I mean, like, we were used to effects like this, which is like draw to lose to the bones has kind of like an added thing to a dire, dire insight or whatever. So, this just kind of spreads that to everybody.

You don't get like that, surveil or scry ahead of it. But in the case of this, yeah, like if you if you have any kind of damage modification going on there, there it goes. This would be practice deck with those modifiers there. Yeah pretty cool. This would be one I'd be willing to buy a batch of and confident I'll use.

Right. Yeah I'm pretty into that. What's the next one. Yeah. Next up we have the WinRAR with dark Matter manipulator. So it's one black for a human warlock. That's a one two. When this creature enters mill three cards, this creature gets plus two plus zero for every seven cards in your graveyard. So for each instance of what you're doing, these piles of seven in your.

Yeah. So the WinRAR says this cards absolutely going to get broad adoption and says it's not quite Stitcher supply in terms of volume of cards milled. But there's nothing wrong with a little redundancy. Yeah. Plus it's got some relevant types and can be a beat stick in a pinch. Yeah. Warlock. I wonder if Brad would work this into his like, gold. Gary.

Oh, yeah, I think he would. I think he would. Yeah, that's a good point. Like, the Stitcher supplier is a zombie and this is a human. I like that pointing out like cards that people are using. And you know, let's let's add it up with a redundant version. Right? Right. I'm there. All right I bet. Yeah.

Like cam self mill thing. Yeah. I was gonna say Kim's got a self mill thing that would seem to fit in there. Right. All right. Stomp all just has another one for us. And this is the dark light. Phoenix dark light. Yeah. Dude this one's pretty cool. Yeah. Right. So three in a black for a three two phoenix with flying in haste at the beginning of combat.

On your turn, if two or more creatures die to this turn, return this, card from the bat, from the graveyard to the battlefield. Pretty wild. Dude. That's cool. Like, that's pretty solid, right? All right. The stomp all just says that this card is not going to get broad adoption, but it should as to why we should be paying attention.

This is a color shifted Arclight Phoenix. This card can also be one of the two creatures that died this turn to return to the battlefield. It flies, making it a decent blocker. It has haste so it can kill a pesky walker or get chip ins. It's a black phoenix. So all for people saying Cyrix finally get to have an actual good bird for their creature base.

All of the art, all of the arts go hard as fuck. That's important. Trust me. Powerful value piece, useful creature. Ten out of ten art banger card. Yeah, it's a pricey goon. It's like coming in at 13 bucks right now. Pretty wild. But yeah, I like the idea of this, right? Like, I have plenty of places I could put this in.

Make it work. It's it's it's generically achievable. Right? I do like pointing out the rules thing. It can be part of the deaths that are counted for. It's part of the deaths which it certainly will be. Right. What's the next one? Next up we have the oh no, we have Chomper 16 with Garrick, Veiled Butcher.

What the hell? So three. A black and a black for a legendary planeswalker. Go, Garrick. It comes in with five loyalty. It has, you know, new wave enchantment style buff that planeswalkers get. If a creature an opponent controls would die. Exile it instead. Okay, then you can bring that loyalty up by two.

Up to one target creature gets negative four. Negative one until your next turn. So pretty big nerf. Then it's minus two is each player sacrifices a creature of their choice. If you sacrificed a creature this way, create a four for green. Beast creature token with trample. So it's a trampling. Trample tokens.

Or you can bring it down by three. Each opponent discards two cards for each opponent who didn't discard it to or sorry for each opponent who didn't discard two non land cards. This way you draw a card. I'm interested to see what Chomper 16 has to say. So in terms of adoption says it's absolutely going to get broad adoption as to why we should be paying attention.

Planeswalkers should be measured by their immediate impact. Agree. And this card has a big one. Each opponent discards two and you draw 1 to 3. That has a baseline is acceptable. Close to siphon mind, an underrated card, which I also agree. I like siphon mind where I love this is in a deck that can blink and get that twice, as in Aminata four discards in his back breaking, and it turns a weak creature or token into a bigger blocker while forcing an edict worth $4 and a pick up.

Yeah, I was not quite seeing it on first read, but I think with some of those notes, especially the that Aminata play like if you're running nominated as a commander and can blink this motherfucker. Yeah pretty cool four discard is legit. Yeah. That's enough. That'll really reverse somebody's fortune for sure.

Yeah. And the fact its opponents. Right. Like you're, you're you're not part of it. Yeah. You're changing your life for the better and making everybody else. Yeah. Like this guy, Yeah. Interesting I wouldn't this is one where, like, my, blindness to planeswalkers kind of gonna take the blind. Yeah, I take that one eyed blindfold off your eye patch.

Oh, yeah. Actually, I can see it. I just don't see it. What's the next one? Duba has forest lich. Relic. Dude, if there was a card here for your boy, it's black. When this is. So it's an equipment for. For one black. When this equipment enters, you may pay two a generic. When you do each opponent. Sorry.

For each opponent, destroy up to one target creature or planeswalker that player controls and then has a clip two and the equip creature gets plus two plus one. Okay. Yeah. Okay. So sick. That's actually crazy. Yeah. Okay, okay. I'm listening. Let's see what Weber has to say. So in terms of broad adoption, the Weber says no, it's not going to get it, but it should.

As to why we should be paying attention. This is a three mana kill spell that hits three creatures, that doubles as an equipment with a cheap equip cost for your Voltron decks. It's everything. My. Shin Ryu Voltron deck wants just a solid all around card. Tell me why you're hot for this, Andy. Yeah, I mean, imagine I saw it going around.

Yeah, right. Like Kasai this thing away or have some kind of way to sack it, and that would be great. Awful. I get to choose what gets bricked. So, you know, edicts are strong because they get around on around the indestructible stuff that people want to try to do. But true, they can always choose weaker creatures.

I guess if you're trying to write like it gives you some selection here. Yeah, yeah, absolutely. The devotion for Erebus. So also good. I'm loving these. I'm loving these equipment that have color pips. They're they're kind of fun to have around those. Yeah. So I, I can think of a few places where this would make sense.

Brad recently put together like a what's the guy's name? He gives the creature, he gives artifacts. Flash. Oh. So this was one of the ones he was asking about, which is relics. I'm like, dude, I haven't gotten into this set yet, but yeah, I know about that one. So, yeah, there's some places for this.

I think I'm equipment piece is just gravy. True. Right. Gravy. All right. Cole, aka the Blood Drip Guy, has a rise of the Death Bringer for us. So for in a black, choose one or it's an instant choose one. Draw cards equal to the greatest power among creatures you control. You lose life equal to the number of cards drawn this way.

And then the other option is all creatures get negative three, negative three until end of turn. Okay, okay. Instant speed five men. A draw in black has a little competition. Cole says that this card is not going to get broad adoption, but it should. As to why we should be paying attention, maybe I'm insane to put this as not being broadly adopted, but hear me out.

I think rise being an instant is great. You get rid of a lot of creatures or draw a decent amount in a pinch. Five men as a great rate in the world of cost reducers. So I will likely end up playing this in quite a few decks. However, the Man of Lu will scare gamers playing with a leaner curve. The flexible nature of this card is a boon and a curse, as it loses flexibility in the mid and as the mid and end game approaches.

Hitting turn 4 or 5 and passing is suspicious at best and back breaking at worst. If you haven't developed so, you'll likely end up casting for the first half proactively. Late game if your playgroup slash meta is bracket two, I think this thrives in a more battlecruiser heavy environment, but will be passed over the higher you go.

I just kind of think a stinging study a little bit, you know, or like I run that in some decks like, yeah, that seems to be the competition to me. And having that extra flexibility. Yeah. I've been kind of hung up on. Maybe it's just lately trying and this is hard to do even with like the number of decks I have, which is tracking.

How do I say this? There's. So this is, I think is especially true, for instance, and sorceries because this is just kind of the things that they're set up to do, these, these game changing moments. They only change for the things for the moment because they're not a permanent. So it's not this ongoing thing that you're like, well, no one dealt with this.

This was amazing. You know, so yeah, I think a lot of us gravitate towards permanence because of the mid-range battlecruiser nature of of a lot of the bracketed play. But as you move up the track, you start to value this less. And you were like, okay, well, I need stuff to be on the stack. That's very like the likelihood of seeing the same cards goes up and up and up as you crawl through. So I can see why this is one.

This is a hard one to read in. But lately this is what I've been trying to do. Is, is this card good? Pretty damn good. Game over. Game versus it has this one iconic moment. You know what I like that. Like I can come up with an iconic moment for a lot of cards, but is it always the right card? Yeah. Like how consistent is the concert.

Like do they have one Live Aid that everyone talks about or were they and they were talk shit every other time? And I think that's kind of my thing about instance and sorceries lately. And the modality is really the way to like, think less about this and just put the card in the deck. So I'm envisioning versions of this where they've blocked and they don't know they're creatures are not going to trade, they're going to die, they're going to die or they're attacking me.

And I just need to save myself a little. I they think they have lethal on me and they don't. Yeah, right. Like there's a lot of use cases like that where, like, they've barely got it and it's like all of them getting negative three, negative three stuff like. That's a good point. That could buy you another turn.

Yeah I mean the blocking situation is everything gets kind of torn down or whatever maybe. Or it just kills both of it doesn't really work that way. But yeah. So they're coming at me. I'm thinking of it like it's a weaker version of sudden spoiling, which we've seen games turn on that card and not that's not this or.

Yeah. I'm stance to such that I have options. I've just kind of found them with this deck. I can either empty my life and draw some cards. Yeah. Before my turn begins. Or if I got forced into a counter spell. So where I'm thinking of this being used as, like, sig River cutthroat, like I have a lot of flash creatures in that deck already.

I'm probably not going to be. Yeah. So you can clear things and then flash in a creature because I'll never I don't I can't reliably get haste the way I like it and demure. So yeah, this is my way of doing that. So maybe I take out a theorize, which we know is a strong card for this. Minus three is good for good enough for me.

I just live a little better. I don't like that was close. So that was a close call. But like, I saved myself, you know, across three creatures, that's nine life potentially. Like if they're above that. Yeah. So I don't know. That's kind of what I'm thinking lately is when you're playing against a lot of different decks and you're playing, I don't know, bracket two three somewhere in that zone.

You. Yeah. All right. So it's not going to be the Live Aid concert or, or whatever famous performance, you know. But like yeah, but you have to kind of keep track of things game over game where like it's relevant. It was relevant. It was relevant, not bombastic. Some cards like they just, you know, Breach the Multiverse is a bombastic card.

It will it will banger concert every time. Yeah, exactly. It's very difficult to whiff on that because of the sheer volume of cards it exposes to its effect. But rise of the Dark Realms comes in a little dry sometimes. Like, okay, well, graveyards are empty. Like this isn't. That's true. That said, this about the primordial, and at least that's an intimidate five damage to a body.

That's pretty good. At least that's that's where I'm at with this of like, evaluate what you're using in the deck. And like if you're okay with a weaker version of one, you're saving slots. It's true. Over time you're like, God, I didn't have to draw that game. You had the whole game, but I didn't have draw I and it's just worth paying attention to modal spells that do things you would normally do in this game anyways, right?

Like, there's just something about that. Yeah. Just my thought is All Creatures. Yeah, I misread that. It's not creatures your opponents control. That would still bump it up, but something to think about. You know, it's a bit of a weaker fog effect. Slash. Maybe it kills stuff out. Wipe stuff out. Like they don't need to be gone.

Like, if you're going to crack them back, like, that's what that's like. The most powerful thing a fog can do is they've shield, they've down their own shields in front of completely tapped out now. Yeah. Like I'll be visiting you. Visiting you. This is a little bit of a weaker version of that. But there's there's not a lot of it's only ever going to be a fog, but also to have the the draw a available to you I like.

Yeah. All right let's move to our next one. The stop all just has Sanctum Lurker for us. Sanctum lurker is two in a black for a horror. It's a three two when this creature enters empower Jace one Planeswalkers you control aren't put into their owners graveyards for having zero loyalty. How wild planeswalkers you control have a an additional loyalty gain with where you can go plus two.

This planeswalker deals one damage to each opponent and you gain one life. How crazy did you take that one? I'd use that. All right, let's see what the ball just has to say about it. And it mentions that it has knee shop application. Obviously with planeswalkers, that's probably the case. Yeah. This little idiot provides you a Jace token, which, by itself is kind of okay, but it also gives your Planeswalkers the passive ability to be incapable of death and also the active ability to flick your opponent's beanbags.

Okay. Which also being incremental life with that, while that also being incremental life gain. And it's a plus two ability which some Planeswalkers should never have access to. True. I know walkers aren't particularly popular, but this card helps alleviate a core issue with them being an enchantment people can swing creatures at.

I'd be a little of the focus of this set is to try to get planeswalkers back into people's view. It might be right. It's almost like they're, you know, talking about making them commanders or something. It also lets you just zero Sakon the Mad forever. And that's pretty funny to. I do think that's like a legit like all of those points coming from a single card of your planeswalkers don't go to yard for having zero loyalty.

There are a lot of planeswalkers that should not go plus two, and I think there's an Ajani in here, if I recall, that just goes up for getting life. And so if all of your planeswalkers have this ability that. Yeah, in that way of the what is it way of the mentor mentor pick up more and more loyalty. Yeah, yeah.

It's really just like we can't get rid of them. Yeah. Like they stay around so they're there and then it gives them an increase loyalty ability. Like if it didn't have that they'd be kind of like okay well depending on the Plains walker they don't have a way to climb out like some of them only have where this is like I will always have a way to climb them out, but they never actually go away.

That's a good point because a lot of those were the spark ones were like, I'm only going down, down. Yeah, yeah. Okay. Yeah, that's a cool one. Okay. The last one that we have in Black from our listeners is also from the stump and it's way of the necromancer one into black for a legendary enchantment.

When a way of the necromancer enters in power. Jace two. And then the big thing here is whenever a creature you control dies, put a loyalty counter on each planeswalker you control. Wild, okay. That's actually kind of crazy to the gist. Says that this has niche application and goes on to write step one.

Play this card, make a Jace step. Be okay. Disregard the J. Sacrifice three creatures. Step gamma ult your lily of the veil. You also played this turn and probably win the game. Step God you on admit that you have a problem. This card is really strong in black based planeswalker strategies. But even if that isn't your jam, it's a two man enchantment that surveys and draws cards because your creature died.

Your creatures die. Good floor, good ceiling solid eight out of ten. That is true, right? Like you get the Jace. Like you can just ignore. Yeah. You don't have to give you. It solves itself. It just becomes surveil, keeps failing. And that's a valuable it's a valuable, valuable thing in whack. And then if it gets too heavy, you can blow it out for a draw.

So really good point. Yeah really good point. Give you the Jace. They give you the Jays. I'm gonna give you the Jace right in your ace. What's the next one? We're moving on to read our listeners quite liked black and Red. This set. Cole's coming back with another one and has a Johnny's anguish. Johnny's anguish is X and a red for enchantment.

When this enchantment enters, it deals X damage to any target. And then simply your creatures you control have trample down. Looking for that, right? Damn. Okay, okay, so Cole says this thing absolutely will get broad adoption. Who loves cards that just have pure upside? I do. Who wants a sorcery or instant that deals damage?

Deals. Deals burn damage and sticks around with a great passive effect. I mean, I do. You don't get bored wide, trample with one man of value, and you rarely get fireballs that do more than what you're investing into it. This design is elegant, simple, functional, and can make target target. Empress Quinn crash out when you cast this and proc damage on a creature post combat damage.

I'm not entirely sure how this scales in your average commander game, but trample changes the mass every time, and if you want to snipe someone out of the game with infinite mana, I mean, I guess you can do that. I'm just going to judge you if you pull that off on turn five and leave that player to hang, hang out dry for the next hour of gaming, which, you know, that shit happens well, and you've just got a bunch of other options in the game with infinite mana in this color. Exactly. This isn't the one.

You're dead forever. And I have trample. Like, couldn't that just been a fucking comet storm? Can you just kill all of us? Kicker in that? Well, I do like that, though. The combination of having the expel and the static trample. Yeah, I mean, one way, there's another way to read. This is just like one read. Your creatures have trample.

Yeah. Which which is, as was pointed out by cold. That's not available. Screw that. All right, next up we have the WinRAR that's got command the stage two in a red for a sorcery. Create the two two wizard cadet. Kind of just I don't like yeah, I just yeah. Create the cadet and put a plus one plus one counter on each other.

Wizard token you control. It's like wind was just targeting their own deck throughout this entire review. At the beginning of each upkeep, if an opponent was dealt non-combat damage. Last turn returned this card from your graveyard to your hand or. Yeah. Okay. Wow. It's like punishing fire, but in reverse.

Oh, yeah, I like that. And you don't have to pay anything. So the WinRAR says that this card is not going to get brought adoption. But it should goes on to write an innocuous piece of glue for read decks that use rummaging as a source of card advantage. It's effectively a second copy of squid, Goblin, Nabob in any deck that can reliably, reliably trigger trigger.

Gosh, I'm tingling my words in my mouth. It's return cost and can even self recur when cast with impact tremors or gutter snipe effects. Plus it doesn't reliably. Tigger. Did I say Tigger? I don't know, maybe. Maybe I was just really light on the. But you can reliably Tigger. We're bouncing around. He's my least favorite of those animals, I think.

Is it he anxiety and just too much, right? Just like I need this guy to go somewhere else to do his eight ball, right? Like, is able. You got to respect the Pooh, right? I identify with rabbit. Piglet reminds me of my grandma. Of course I do. Of course I do. And Piglet reminds me of my grandma. She. My grandma's voice just sounded like Piglet. Dude.

That's amazing. She sounded just like Piglet. Yeah, yeah, it makes my chest steak just to say that. Do you know? You know, a long time ago, I was. We went. Do you remember? What's that stupid dance they do at the. You of you. The Crimson Knights are crimson. It's their big. It's like it's a college size, like stomp.

Essentially, it's just a big. Yeah. And there's different ones. We were just some coworkers and I were just talking today because Utah State does the howl, which is their big Halloween one. I heard of that one too. But then, yeah, I can't remember the name of the one at the you. Well somehow did I got dragged to going to this and imagine rabbit going to this.

I don't want to be there. That's not the place for some guy. I don't remember his name. And then, yeah, my my infamous old roommate, that was like trying to, of course, just swim his way through that entire. He was not trying to come up for air, that whole name. But I ended up going back to this chick's dorm with her.

Because it was weirdly a successful night for your boy. But when I got there, dude, her entire dorm was decorated with, like, Winnie the Pooh stuff. That's hard to get the vibe going with Winnie the Pooh. And she where she's dressed like a normal, you know, early aughts chick. You can imagine what she was dressed like.

We walk in and I, I it's like a roommate situation or whatever. And I think that was the first and only time I had ever been in a dorm. Like, I didn't have the kind of wealth to have that experience as a college student, you know? And, yeah, dude, it was like, she's just like a poster. You go sit over there.

All go get the honey, I. You're very good at that. Oh, bother. Yeah, I oh bothered her for a little while and then yes, I, I got out of there. I got out of there. That was weird. Just like looking up and like the whole 100 acre word or whatever. It's just like a raid on her headboard. That's. Oh, God.

That was a strange audience. That was strange audience. I didn't even finish reading this review. We talking about. We were talking about Command the Stage. And, you know, these interactions with squee and the other side. It's a recursive sorcery, right? Like if you have gutter snipes, all of that stuff, it's just gonna come right back to your hand at the end of this thing. Yeah. And which is awesome.

It sees other non-combat damage being dealt. So yeah. And it also says plus it doesn't care. They also go on to note it doesn't care if you've dealt the damage to yourself. So sometimes your opponents will just be giving you a freebie. Yeah, like some of the cast I'm gonna cast. Castaway doubt. And you're like, I'm gonna return.

Command the stage to my hand. Thanks. All right, let's hit the vampire, per se. Okay. Yeah. What's the next one? Jack, a bulldog has curse Mart. Demon cursed. Mark. So, two a red and a red for a creature. Demon. That's a four. For with flying and trample, it's got the flagpole. When this creature enters, search your library for a card.

Put it into your hand and shuffle a or sorry. Then shuffle. Then discard a card at random. Okay, I'm. I'm into the the. Yeah, I like that. So Bulldog says that this card is not going to get broad adoption, but it should and goes on to write Jace in his infinite genius. Imagine a world where runes card demon has a gambling addiction, and honestly, I don't hate it.

This gamble can be blinked and reanimated just like his big brother, but he's also in the Color of Shadow clone jujutsu. Oh, I appreciate it for being an able bodied tutor and a color that often struggles to find what it needs on demand. A really good point, to be honest. Yeah, I'm surprised the price is where it's at, but right, like, that's just I'm into your graveyard.

Doesn't matter so much that you discard it. Yeah. Artifact decks. They they're gonna weld that stuff anyway like we are. We're already straining to get access to tutors in that color anyway. And gamble a game changer. I don't remember. Oh, actually, I don't remember. Maybe they took that one off, but I did.

I don't know, I don't know, you know, I can't I can't use this thing anyway. So do you like. It's not for me okay. What's the next one. Yeah. So Scott aka card cynic has draconic visitor. Oh, yeah. This one's art. Makes me unnerved a little bit. Three a red and a red for a five five dragon flying. If one or more artifact tokens would be created under your control, that many five five red dragon creature tokens with flying are created instead.

Oh, yeah, the neck and head situation. Yeah, I got a double mouth. Yeah, right. Something out of like. But also kind of double neck. Like the thing makes it to some fantasy setting. Yeah. It's like the things. It's like the thing. Seven kingdoms edition. That's that's bizarre. Card cynic says this cards absolutely getting brought adoption and goes on to write.

I think the power of this is pretty obvious and doesn't really need much explanation. I am looking forward to adding it to a couple of my decks as another way to create overwhelming value. Here we go. My true wish as a commander theorist is to win by playing this with Gan X astral Hunter, who makes treasure every time a dragon enters.

I'll just keep making dragons in an endless loop until it's like he's like, just kind of find your way back to laugh less a little bit. Just kind of did, right? We get to move to the next one. Oh, yeah. So, Jack, a bulldog has another one for us. And this is face yourself. Face yourself. This is seven man, a five red.

Red for a sorcerer. Each for each creature. Target player controls. Create a token. That's a copy of that creature. Except it has haste. And at the beginning of the end step, if you don't control a planeswalker, sacrifice this creature. Okay? That's like mirror match. What's that blue line? You use that one. It's a mirror match.

The mirror, mirror march, where you just clone everybody's creature like players. Like that one, actually, like for forgetting the name of it. But you're right. Which? This one was actually one that I was like. I want to see that, too. Bulldog says it's it's my precious and goes on to write, the heart and soul of commander is, in my humble opinion, seven mana sorceries that don't win you the game.

Okay, face yourself is exemplary for that reason. Double your own board or borrow someone else's. It's targeted so it can be swatted away, which is going to create some deeply funny blowouts. Not to mention it's potentially nasty with token doubles. If you aren't putting spells like this in your decks, we might as well just play standard live a little, won't you?

I don't like the art. It's well done. It's well crafted. Yeah, the artist really killed the assignment. Everyone is is rendered beautifully, I just don't. It's just so on the nose. It kind of is, though, right? It's. It's like on the nose. Like it's everybody facing each other all in one art. Like, okay, like, this should just be a promo poster.

It honestly, it should have been a promo poster, right? Or this one should just be called Fractured Reality or something. And like, let's just stop. I do legit, like I mean, I love that you're right because I think you had brought up recently. Once you get to this man, arrange like fucking winning the game or not.

But I just kind of like what cards like this can do. I hadn't noticed the thought about copying and creating new targets because it does target. So yeah, that is actually an interesting play that could happen. There's just some interesting stuff that I think this card could do to a game. Well, potentially not winning depending on what's going on.

I, I definitely see Brad picking this up and targeting himself with it. Totally. This is absolutely a bad move to do. He loves he loves shit like this. What's the next one? Yeah. So the next one up is Card Cynic who has the fulminant forte fulminant 42 in a red for an instant. Oh, it's a choose one. I'm listening.

Fulminant Forte deals one damage to each creature and planeswalker your opponent's control or fulminant Forte deals five damage to target creature or planeswalker. I have a hard time evaluating these kinds of cards. Yeah. All right, so card cynic says that it has niche application and goes on to write.

I'm on the fence about this card. Apparently, I'm not the only one to mono. Red is in a weird place with removal. I like that this can potentially clear out your opponent's mana dorks and other value creatures, or hopefully remove a more significant threat. It is versatile, but is it good enough? I'm going to try it out and see which is exactly my response.

I'm like, I see it. I could maybe use it, but I don't know how to play read. So I will say that. The modes are not that flexible because they're trying to do like there's one that's like it's I think it's called like a I mean, it is an instant. There's one that like deals to damage to everything or wheels your hand.

Yes. One like those are two radically different use uses and ones like okay, give me the fucking cards, I need cards. And the other is let me just clear some stuff out. Right, right. I think it's like into the into the Fire or something like that. So I'm unsure about this where it's like it deals one damage to everything.

Okay. Well yeah. That that's that can that's useful dealing five to some things useful in the case of blocking. You can do that too. So I'm a little on the fence to I guess it's just like I don't know what I want from this. I don't know what I want from this. I, I think my favorite modal cards are they do two different things like, oh, well, this one blows up an artifact or deals three like two different permanent types where this one I guess clears a wide problem maybe, and then a tall problem.

Sometimes I'm trying to think the numbers aren't there. I don't know, like considering where we're at with crepe, but like would have been would have been that crazy if this was two mana like it doesn't target a player. Yeah, two to deal five on a mode. Or is that too crazy? Yeah, I just, I think I might be too crazy.

That might be crazy for standard, right? Yeah. I'm not sure the stats on some of the other red spells that are out there. Yeah. So I'm a little unsure what's the next one I don't want to, like, think about it too long. If you if you've got. What's his face? What what's the dude Gerson star or you're trying to do exactly one damage to stuff.

This is this is another card. Yeah, that's a good point. Yeah. All right. Closing out red, we have stomp almost who has way of the Pyromancer? Okay, so it's a legendary enchant for one in a red when you when it enters, you empower your Jace by two. Right. And then planeswalkers you control have an increased loyalty by one.

Add red. Okay. Nice. Let's see what the stomp all just has for us. They know that this card is not going to get broad adoption, but it should and goes on to write. This is two men. This is two mana planeswalker. It gives you a two loyalty Jace, that can give you a red mana, surveil one or draw a card.

Yeah. This card is one of those workhorse pieces that seems like it doesn't do a lot until you realize is it's filtered about three of your draws and let you cheat the curve in mono red repeatedly. Yeah. Most people probably won't play it because it says planeswalker on it, but most people are fools.

Woohoo! Strong language here. This card will give you leverage to win games, and that's not even counting if you have other Planeswalkers, heaven forbid. I think that's a thing here with this set. Right, is noticing that there are. Ways that they're making some of these planeswalker plays relevant without having to play planeswalkers.

Yeah. And then it's like, well, we'll bring you one, we'll give you money of Jace. So yeah. What's the next one? Yeah. Moving over to green. The card cynic has for us, Hex Haven. Invigorating, which I think is a card you and I both wanted to talk about. In all likelihood. Yeah. So this is green, green, green, green for a six.

Do I do green too many times. It's for green pips for a six. Six. Chimera horror. It has vigilance. And whenever this creature is dealt damage, you may search your library for up to that many land cards and put them into the battlefield. Tapped, then shuffle. Yeah. Wow. Yeah. Do you see this card getting broad adoption?

Absolutely I do. So the card Senate goes on to. Right. So let's see here. We've got four green mana for a six six vigilance. Yeah I love vigilance. This is going to be great in my mono green deck. Oh wait there's more text here in search Screaming. Sorry I just read the script instructions. Honestly, this card is cracked.

Is anyone going to ever going to block it? Is anyone ever going to attack you with a noninvasive creature? How many bite spells do you play in a deck with this in it? How many broken lands? Lands. Can can you put in your deck Gaia's cradle? Anyone laugh at any red board wipe? Or just cast your own blasphemous act and get 13 land landfall?

Question mark. Yeah, this is going to be one of those cards that probably wins you the game, but not immediately, just several turns later from sheer mana advantage. At least it's not legendary. So at least it can't be your commander. Yeah, there's a lot of work you can do. I think the one thing not mentioned there is with your mono green decks.

If you care about pips. Yeah. It gives you a tablespoons of mana with your next dose. Yes. It's great. Yeah. I don't I mean for us it's it's weakened. We were not allowed to look for. Yeah. We can't look for named type lands. Yeah. Like really they're the really the only thing you can go grab is something that all it will do is produce color.

So you can clean your colors with it, but you can't. You can't go grab, like, you know, any combination of, like, whatever we're talking about, the feel of the dead and. Yeah. And for other things to make a bunch of zombies or however, however you want to do it. So. Yeah. Right. But still, I, I quickly got one for my Shigeki list.

I'm often attacked with Shigeki. Yeah, a lot. And this way I'm not going to be. It's a big somebody can evade it. It's a pretty good fog without having to count. I'm just not going to spell. I read it like I just deal six damage to somebody every cycle. That's how I read it. Six damage happens. But generally I'm probably not going to get any lands out of it.

Yeah, people will just be like, I would rather eat six than let you have a bunch of lands. I so I've got the the old OG Nyla deck that I've been working on and that's a really good fit there. I wasn't initially gonna put it in because I'm like, well Nyla gives trample, vigilance, trample and instead devotes and I'm like, nobody's blocking this thing anyways.

He doesn't need trample. But the insta devote and the fact that nobody lends, nobody's coming at me like, yeah, I might not get as many lands as some other people will with their builds that have this vote. You're like, this is her. Yeah, there's there's plenty here for me that has one. Yeah. Has one.

Yeah. It's pretty fucking good. Cool stuff. All right. Our you know we just get basic stuff like. Yeah, we're just gonna go looking I, I glazed that for a second I over that, I was just like, oh yeah, you can get any land you can go get. There's a band, there's some crazy ones to go grab. Right. All right, let's take a look at multicolor.

Okay. We've got Jake, aka cinder, who has fate hold charm for us. So this is a white and a blue for an instant. Choose one draw card empowered Jace two. Which is at least what, two out of that? Yeah, right. If no one cracks it, I suppose so. It really is. Draw cards, surveil one is how that would look.

It's like a what is that serum visions modification. Yeah, yeah. You're a return target spell or creature to its owner's hand. You know I like that. And then creatures you control get plus one plus two until end of turn. I'm all right with it. I'm hot for it. Yeah. I'm there. Okay, so cinder says of this that it's absolutely, absolutely going to get broad adoption.

It goes on to write this card can just replace your ramen, repeat reprieve and join it in a list. I'm swapping my vetoes out as well. I think that's a fair swap, right? Same total mana cost with modal upsides, including draw. So it's never a dead card. I'll be playing it in my rota list, as the anthem effect will also be relevant.

Nice. Yeah, yeah, it's one of. It's just some of the things like. Yes, there are stronger versions of each one of these modes, but having access to all of them game over game, I think this is what I'm trying to this is what I'm thinking more about lately is just like, where? Yeah, where can I find. Yeah, this seems okay.

I think it's particularly relevant as you're like, not if you're if you're not living in that bracket 4 or 5 range like these types of cards or it's not a counter spell, I don't know. But it also fucking bounces a creature, right? If you need to. It's so funny. All right, I'm gonna bounce it. Fuck, yeah.

That one mode alone where it's like I can kind of counter a cast or I'm gonna lose my own thing. All right? I'm gonna pull it back to my hand. Yeah, I'm gonna. I'm gonna target your dog. That, like, you keep using the flicker stuff, I'm gonna pull it back to my hand in response. Let their spell fizz.

It's so great you're moving to attack. I'm going to bounce this thing out of the way first. I don't know, I just I think it's I think it's fine in your proliferate deck where you just happen to proliferate like crazy. Well, that Jace comes in with. Yeah, it comes in with counter. It's like it's just something that was one more permanent you can put your goddamn counters on.

Like you're already doing that with your Astral Cornucopia, like, which isn't that great. But like in the context of proliferate, it is. Yeah. So. Right. Yeah. Pretty good stuff anyway. All right. So Chomper has a proctor of potential for us. So it's also white in a blue for a three one human cleric.

Whenever this creature or another creature you control enters, surveil one. Oh, okay. Dude. Okay. You can pay one in a or you can play white. Blue. Return this card from your graveyard to the battlefield with a finality counter on it. Activate only if you've scribed or surveilled of this turn. Which is a bit of an achievement.

So you could skull clamp this thing after you've surveilled and then just just bring it back one more time, I like that. So Chomper 16 says this card is not going to get broad adoption, but should and went on to write that surveil is good. Like just is like really good. Add in some synergy and this is an absolute banger at two.

Just it's so much better than scry. I agree, it fits great in a blink or recursion based deck. This and the new Black Liliana adds some fantastic pieces for a mixed blink and recursion deck, one that puts dense, macabre and in incarnation technique effects to use very well. Yeah, coming to a refine dense deck near you soon.

Never heard of it. Okay, what's the next one? Cole has the solitary cell. Solitary cell? It's a green. It's. Sorry, sorry. It's not even that. It's a red and it's a white for an artifact. When this artifact enters exile, target non land permanent and opponent controls with mana value three or less until this artifact leaves the battlefield.

So it's a oust effect? Yeah. You can pay one. Discard a legendary card drawcard. Pay one. Tap it. Sorry. You pay one, tap it. Discard a legendary card. Draw a card. Okay, so goal says that. Cole. Gosh, I'm not speaking clearly today. Cole said that says that this card has niche application and goes on to write.

I feel like there's something here, but maybe I'm just too lost in the Burrows sauce over a standard constructed playable card. It's a low mana value conditional oh ring for non land permanence, which in today's game day and age and of low mana engines might be pivotal pivotal in keeping your opponents in check.

It's not hard removal, but when you want a multi-purpose card, these features stand out. Additionally, as commander has high legendary card density, the rummage effect ends up being a long term engine should you try and build around it. It's also an artifact if that's something in your deck cares about.

I think if you managed to have a deck that fits all of the criteria, the cell works better than you'd think. Most people will probably pass this over without a thought. It's going to stick in my brain for a while, which I think it's right. Like there's a couple different things it can do, right. And to your point that you've kind of been talking about over this episode, there's better cards, but can you get both of those things?

I don't know if this is the time to repeat what we know about this year, which is there's more legendary creatures this year than there were non legendary creatures. Yeah, that isn't true for the entire game. There's more non legendaries than legendaries, but we're we're gonna fucking catch up if it's the last goddamn thing this economy sure about trying.

I think the other piece is like, yeah, this grabs a lot of of junk, you know, like coal specifically, how often are you staring at a Buster sword and you could just clip it? It's true. Probably almost every time you play. I'm guessing so, yeah. Just shove it out and force them to conjure up removal, because it's just gonna sit there staring at them the rest of the game, or just all those sort of X and Y cards, all of them to play against it.

And they are all great targets for solitaire in the metagame you play in. All right. Let's hit the next one that we and this is the last one. We have a multicolor and this is from the WinRAR and it's vigor bloom charm. It's good charm. Green and a white for a instant. Choose one target permanent. You control gains hex proof and indestructible until end of turn.

So we've seen this all over the place with just mono green spells and some white spells. Yeah, really good fit. You draw a card and you gain three life. You put a plus one plus one counter on target creature you control, then that, Then it fights target creature. An opponent controls. Okay, it's really good.

That's really good into it. So the winner writes that this card is absolutely getting brought adoption, and goes on to note that the best of the new charms, modal spells that protect or remove are no brainers for commander damage plans. But getting revitalized as a third mode means it's never dead, and frankly, pushes this to staple territory for Celestia decks, which I would agree.

Like this is all relevant, right? Yeah, but I don't. I don't think people are gonna broadly adopt it. No, I just don't like they're gonna stick with their generous gift and their other stuff. Like, I think you're right. Yeah, I think you're right. I don't I, I honestly don't agree that they're going to broadly adopt it because I think we're just kind of married to the, the super.

Well, it's got to hit everything. Yeah. There's going to be cases where fighting is not the answer to this. There's going to be cases where. But again the flexibility here. Right. That's what I'm looking for. Yeah. Like and it is increasingly the case that if I'm in these colors I want something that protects things. Yeah.

And so generous gift and beasts within are hard to come. They hit they hit anything like that's very difficult though. It's like that's always something that's going to be irrelevant, you know? But they will never gain you three life and draw you a card. I've seen people survive games off of one food scene it where they needed to fucking go, and they didn't because they have the point. You're because we didn't show it.

Oh my God. For God he had food. And then they get their next turn and they they win. I've seen it happen. Yeah, probably more than once. At least. At least twice. I'm pretty sure I have memory fragments of I needed that food gone. And this is one in your hand that they can't really calculate, can confirm one extra card and then that other and that other mode.

It's just like, dude, yeah, yeah, they're gonna try to clear your big, big guy out. You can probably have protection spells already. So. Yeah. Let's move over to colorless. We've just got one card that was pointed out by listeners here, and this is by meat who is covering murmuring volume. It's a murmuring volume.

This is an artifact book for three mana. You can tap and add one of any color, or you can pay two and tap to discard a card. And then if you do, you get to draw a card. Where does it fit? Where does this book fit? Meet says that this card is not getting broad adoption, but it should and then goes on to write two mana rocks are not cool.

Three mana rocks are cool, three men are rocks with a generically good activation are cool, especially in Drago strategies. Play this three mana rock. Show your friends that you are cool. Okay, you know what's cool? You know what's cool I would I I've already got one of these. I, I shoved it into Bruna like I'm already looking for looting style effects with that deck as it is.

So yeah, if you have something like, you know, just just like think, think a little bit like with a like that. Tara. Right. She mills mills and reanimates. Well, this is a if you, if you draw something that you want to reanimate, this is your vehicle to do that for two mana. That's a good point. So like anybody who's looking to use their graveyard, I don't know if anyone's really going to connect the dots on needing to remove this thing that you're using to accelerate your game plan, and then pivot and start using it as a, a graveyard launching platform.

You know, it's actually a really good point. How often does somebody notice that the card you discarded as an activation two turns ago, you reanimated like that you discarded off of this, right. Like how how attentive are people to actually know like some of the big creatures. And if they know your deck. Sure.

And so okay, so they learn the deck. But now you've got something that's an activated ability. So you're like, all right, I'm gonna move to combat. But we go through the book, it goes, you know what I mean? Something like that. Yeah, I'm going to do this now. I'm going to cast vindicate or victimize.

Yeah. Yeah. Like, oh, cool. Like I had no time to deal with that a little bit. So I like that. Yeah, I think it's a great card. I think they should continue to strengthen this slot. The three man of rock thing. The two man. It's true. Yeah. But because because and as was pointed out, when there's just some other kind of generically useful activation, it makes those three mana ones more appealing.

To even put this in glisser like you ditch an artifact and if something dies, it just comes back to your hand. Anyway, I'm just. I'm hunting for land drops. Oh my God. Where's a fucking land? I'm going to ditch this. Yeah. I'm there. Yeah, I'm into it. All right, let's hit the last card that our listeners have reviewed for us.

And it is a land reviewed by Stephen aka The Saint, and it's Hall of Echoes. Yeah, it's a land. You can add diamond with it by tapping it like you do all lands you can pay. Five. This land becomes a copy of target creature you control until end of turn. The legend rule doesn't apply to permanents. You control this turn.

Okay. Crazy. A land with a repeatable copy effect. Who already who would already be great. But turning off legend rule really puts this over the top. It's perfect for decks with big beaters like the new Jace, pre con, trigger happy commanders and those with lots of sacrifice at the end of turn copy effects.

But it is a solid option and damn near any deck that that can afford another colorless land. Which is true. We're getting to where there's so many useful lands. You got to start being judicious these days. Yeah, I think it's a bit of a conveyor belt. I think you can overdo it. We know players that really dislike basics.

You can hear content. People kind of advocate for utility lands being another spell or something like that. But there is a real cost. Like some come in, tapped, some deny you color fixing. Yeah, we are in a golden era of color fixing. But these these directly compete with those those cards that would do that because those are lands a little bit, you know, so, flavor to taste.

I have absolutely gone overboard on utility lands and regretted it where I'm like, I just cannot get my color straightened out. I've noticed that with some of my three color brews recently, as I'm like, I, I actually have done too many lands here. I need to get back to basics a little bit, literally.

My advice is also though, just add more lands to your deck. So like your arcane Signet is never going to become a copy of your commander at some point where no one knew that was a they forget about these things being on the battlefield because they're there in your land base. Like, this is just a a space of the game where you know you're not playing them out.

It's not being cheesy, but like, that's just where they go. They go with the rest of the lands. It's a matter of land. It is a element of the game that people forget about permanence. Like you call out that you play your Hall of the echoes, but players are bound to forget all out. I play my scavenging grounds like, you know, the only one that people really like notice is that juke a bog because it doesn't doesn't leave.

Yeah, but if you, if you look at your land, if you're, if you look at your artifacts, you know, and you're like, well, I have talisman of indulgence or something or talisman of whatever that can that can go or the thought vessel can go, and this could go in, in its place. And if you have a commander where if controlling two of them is a really bad scenario for your for your opponents, like, holy shit, yeah.

For the course of your turn. I don't know, man. Like this is pretty wild for six land taps or whatever. You're going to do five to activate this and then you have to tap. Yeah, you're about to have a turn. If you're about to have your turn with two of these guys out of nowhere, like, that's pretty crazy.

You know, it's a soccer shima. That's a land like Kashima is already a, what, $50 card or something? Nuts. Like true. Yeah. It's something that you play out of his own. It's something that's a creature. You can bounce it, move it around. I don't know, I wouldn't, I wouldn't compare this directly to Soccer Shima, but it's land, so.

But I'm kind of, like, really love as I try to think about, like, what are the what are the decks I have that I could do this with? I'm like, okay, you know what? If I got an extra calyx trigger, which specifically says on the commander that that trigger only happens once a turn. Yeah. Now you're around it.

But now I've gotten around it because there's a second one. So it's like, okay, I'm going to clone two, make copies of Two Enchants because I got through combat and you're like, you're pretty flush with man anyway. Like you'll find a way to do it. Yeah. Like I'm like, there's there's a lot of, there's some that wouldn't really be worth it. And I'm only talking about your commander.

But like, if you have a legend dense deck, I mean, like, think about a, think about a a Shannon. Right? Or have your say like, this is a good land for him. It is a three color deck and I don't know where he's at with his color fixing. Thinking about Chris's like humans chanted list, but right. Or somebody tries to board wipe and suddenly they they did the math.

They were like, okay, I'll live, even though illicit cause they're but they didn't do to elicit cause so so if you're playing an aristocrat deck and it is Elias or Elise or how are you supposed to say it? This is another copy of a risk that you always have in your command zone that no one's really keeping track of.

There's so many. So for a little bit more mana, suddenly this thing springs. You can have, like, a game winning turn because of that, right? Yeah. Now you're taking twice the drain. Or even just thinking this thing's in this set, right? Like, oh, once you've taken damage with your Hex Haven invigorate or go get this land, turn it into a copy of the Hex Haven Invigorate.

Right? Like, yeah, there's some crazy stuff to do. It's true. I mean, I'm I'm really dialed in on the legend rule thing for no reason. But you're right. It can be any fucking creature. Yeah, yeah. And and but I mean, I think the legend one is salient for us, right? Yeah. I'm just, I guess I'm, I'm dialed in on it because it's something.

It's a creature I expect you to often have access to, which is what is the baseline that you can draw. I don't yeah, but yeah, I would order some of these, dear listener. I'm sure they'll go up. They're not super pricey at the moment, but I'm sure they will go up. Should we talk about a few cards that we've picked out?

Yeah. You've got you've got a bunch. Yeah, I dropped in a few I mean I so many put together I dropped in, I had, I built a list but some of the listeners covered some of the ones that I was keen to. So we'll look at some like budgeting cards and some cards that'll annoy you. Annoy me? Yes. You okay? But first of all, I wanted to draw attention to this card.

Gardenias. It's an enchantment for one. Green. Green says whenever a creature you control dies, put a charge counter on this enchantment. So this is slow moving. Okay. And then at the beginning of your first main phase, add green green for each charge counter in this on this enchantment, I think a lot of this is wild.

I think a lot of people are going to dismiss this, but there's a green shrine that has a similar ability where you get mana equal to the shrines you have at the beginning during your first main phase. And people, just people just get worried about other things you're doing. And I they don't clip those types of cards.

So I do think this card will, in the right deck, generate a lot of mana. That's great. Yeah I I'm they're totally there. It doesn't even say non token. You can so it'll it'll charge up plenty of quickly if you go right for it. Black market was a card that black has tried to use for a long time. Yeah.

And while its version is different. This is pretty. This does a really crazy imitation of it that things five mana do. It's five mana. This is on three. You're in colors where you know, like, yeah, you're gonna make stuff happen. You're right. Black market. It's kind of fallen out of favor from where it used to be. But, you know, green and two less mana.

Yes. I'm. Yeah. Another one I had on here was the hunters ax. So it's a green mana for an artifact equipment. It's two to equip and it says equipped creature gets plus two plus. Oh. And has. Whenever this creature attacks, it gains your choice of trample or death. Touch until end of turn. Yo, I just think those are two great keywords to get stapled on to things.

And again, these colored, equipments that can provide pips like I'm specifically thinking of Nyla is where I've put this, so I get devotion out of it. And in that case, it's just like a really good pick because I already have trample on everything else pivoted so I can give the other creatures death touch.

But if I put it on my Nilla and just how many just innately have trample in that ID, I bet you were kind of combing through. You're like, this is a good creature, but it already has trample, right? But it's still good. I'm gonna put it in. We're here. It's like, yeah, anywhere else. It's let's do the all all powerful plus two plus two.

Yeah. The all powerful trampled death. Trample or death. Yeah. Yeah. It's it's so I think that or probably is turning some people off, but in most cases you probably only need one of those two. Part two what else you want? What else do you want? Your listener? Fuck. Just get your hunters ax and put it.

Put it in my Jace Ace dude right now. Well, listening to Ace of Base. Ace of base. What's the next one? Master of barbs. So this is one in a red for a lizard bard. Okay, it's two one. It has menace. And then whenever one or more opponents are dealt non-combat damage, creatures you control get plus one plus oh until end of turn.

So I've already seen this in action. It rips it. I'm ripped. Right? Yeah, I've already seen this one in action. I was like, it does excuse. Yeah, yeah. Because you can generate like in the right deck. You can generate a lot of non-combat damage, and instances of non-combat damage and then an anthem across all of your creatures.

It's like, let's self has menace. It's great. Exactly. Cool card. This one. I don't know in commander, but, I'm really attracted to these cards. It's called perfected theory. Okay. It's a single blue for an instant, and it has choose one target creature has base power and toughness. One one until end of turn.

Target creature has base power and toughness for five until end of turn. I actually genuinely think this is a draft card. It's an uncommon. I think it's one of those that you see in a pack. Yeah, and you probably want to take it because it's gonna. That's a really good winning play. If somebody's sending a big creature at you in combat and you turn it into a one one that saves you the game, if you somebody lets a creature through, you turn it into a 4 or 5, you win the game.

But I'm intrigued by just pulling little tricks like that in commander. It probably ends up on the cutting room floor when you when you ultimately are trying to get down to 100 with a brew. But I just love tricks like this where somebody expecting to get you and you just turn that creature into a one, one, or somebody got a creature they think is going to clear that massacre worm that Andy just dropped.

And no, no, it's not. It's a one one. Yeah. Like that's true. Like I just I kind of like little plays like this. I wish we did more of them in commander. Like I said, I think it's more built for draft, but cool card. And just in case people need more of these, there's the rank rat once one in a black for Islam B rat.

It's a one one. When this creature enters, each opponent discards a card. We get more and more and more and more and more of these cards type for sure. And now this is a zombie. So it's a zombie and a rat. Both are. Yeah. Which which can be relevant in those things. So those are those are my picks. Yeah. Fucking die.

I only have three, the two of which are lands. And then the other one's just a blue creature. So roiling canopy. This land enters, tapped. And whenever a force you control enters, if you control at least five other forests, target creature you control gets plus three plus three until end of turn. This produces color. It comes in.

Its value is already something that that red is chasing. Like mana, red Dex almost compulsively add value to their deck. Green will hit that target much quicker, just because of the way green likes to do it's it's game. It's going to find more lands. Yeah. To to. Yeah. And now you just get this auto plus three so you can I don't know.

Sky shroud claim and make something a six six. So this this brings relevance to ramp spells that aren't super relevant late game. Yeah. So if you have a trampling creature or your big ass flying commander, that's a dragon or whatever, and you're like, all right, well, I'm gonna claim this thing gets plus six plus six, and I have that two forests remaining to do.

I don't know, my vigor bloom or something, have it fight like, I don't know, like it's I think and those are just this is great. Those are just some generic plays, right. Like there's there's decks where there's specific things people are getting up to. Like if you're cycling your creatures through the graveyard and turning them into forests, or if you, you know, you're playing the Ava Maya and you've to get your count up.

I think it's good. It's a good I'm feeling pretty confident on that one. And, yeah, like you're not down a slot. I'm not asking you to put anything in your. It's just there, I like it. Theorists sanctum as this. So it's a this is a land island. So this is actually grabbed with like, you know, a very popular blue card, Delorean revealed. And it's cousins. Yeah. Right.

As the land, as this land enters, you may behold a Jace. Just having to say that dude literally says, behold a Jace. Legit what it says if you don't, this land enters, tapped to behold a Jace. Choose a chase you control and reveal a Jace card from your hand and then it says empowered. You can pay two in a blue tap in power.

Jay's two. I bring this up because of how ridiculous the language is all over this card, but this is basically the set in a in a capsule. But we know that this tokens pretty good. Yeah. Like if you've got nothing else going on or you're playing a draw draw go strategy, you either increase the Jace that you have or you bring one in and use it to surveil or use it to draw if you've got some proliferate going on.

So it's just a it's just a good outlet to dig through your deck. Yeah, we know that surveil strong and you'll have that off the Jays. Absolutely. But my last one is the Sphinx of false conclusions. So it's two blue blue for a four two sphinx illusion. It has flash Kyle and flying into it. And when this creature attacks drawcard, then discard a card.

And if that's not enough for you and the wily Beckert art, it's not enough for you when this creature dies. If it isn't a token, create a copy that's a token copy of it. Or create a token. That's a copy of it. Yeah, so they got to kill this thing off twice, which is awesome. Yeah, right. I think this thing is pretty dope.

Pretty. And again, if you I mean, I think there are things there. There's things in these colors that can make sure that those triggers double. So you may find yourself in a situation where you've got draw to discard a card or get two tokens. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Or you could have the reflections of which are and when it comes in, you've already got a token copy with it.

Like there's, so you just draw on drawn to discarding two dies and you get one more. Yeah. Yeah I'm about this like it's a, it's a mid-range sphinx for the sphinx type of people who give a shit. So a lot of them are getting which is a big deal for three on flash. Yeah a four three on flash is like that has a that has a a attack trigger that's repeatable. So yeah.

Yeah I'm going to be using it for sig. It's my precious. But I'm always looking for totally evasive at least three damage creatures for okay for sig. So I'm into that. And it's sticky. It survives a board wipe in a weird way. Right. You get to keep keep sting triggers. What do you think of the set, the last set of 2027 or 2026?

I've been actively ignoring the other last set. The other last set. Yeah, I'm actually having difficulty ignoring it because I'm just like, I'm like scrutinizing the shit out of it. You know? I'm like, I've successfully been able to not look at it because I find it. I found it repulsive. I'm like, and I'm not even a Trekkie, right?

Like I've consumed Star Trek over the years because it's just part of the culture. But I yeah, it's it's a derelict property. Like being completely honest. Like they, they have they've made a couple runs at trying to bring that IP back. And as somebody who's like a diehard Trek person, they just they don't we don't get it.

I don't think the people who understood that show don't make it anymore. Yeah. Like hearing the F word. Oh that's weird on a Star Trek is unbelievable to me. Like, it's unbelievable to hear somebody say that you're like a cult that's supposed to be in the future. Shouldn't be moving with our goal to watch people, like, disrespect the venerated Captain Picard is just unbelievable.

That couldn't couldn't watch it. I was like, I don't think anybody understands what this show was supposed to be about anymore. Yeah. So it's not shocking that, like, it was up for sale and that they're like, if you wanted money off, if you wanted to try to milk this thing, you can. And. Yeah. Anyway, this set anyway, this set was pretty interesting.

I was kind of a little I wasn't hooked initially. But I think as we dug into preparation for these episodes and, and sitting with them, like, I think, you know, there's I, I'm starting to appreciate the spectrum of legends that they're providing. I don't think they need to make everything a fucking legendary creature like they have been either.

But I do like that they have a spectrum of. I guess, potency that you can choose from. I think that's really healthy in, in this situation where we have a bracket system that that people can kind of define where they're playing. And so I like that. And I like a lot of the legends that emerge from this set.

And you know, as, as in, as much as our group doesn't really do a lot of planeswalker stuff, I think they did introduce the planeswalker cannon in a way that it's playable without having to be about planeswalkers, right? Yeah. And a lot of the characters we know about aren't planeswalkers anymore, and they're kind of all over the place. Right.

Exactly. The spark and who's not? Yeah, exactly. So it's nice to see some of those characters, I think, you know, like I think an example right. Where, okay, we don't we don't have to have them planes walking, but they can be a character that's around. I don't know. I mean, I don't have any strong thing where I'm like, wow, this was a blow me away set.

Or like, I'm disappointed. This is just a this is what I want magic to be as a baseline kind of a thing. Like there's some stuff I could complain about, but I, I got what I needed, like, yeah, that's really what this set kind of feels like to me. I think the story like, is the only thing I've been really dialed in on and like it has, I think better stakes going on with it than even war.

The spark did. I think crazy Chase is turning out to be a better. It turned out to be a better, I mean, a villain of his own. Yeah, like a villains antagonist. Strong of a word for what he's up to, but like, antagonist. Yeah. Then Nicky B was. And just how it plays out is like a bit like, oh man, this character is cool but doesn't actually exist.

It kind of reminds me of a a remember the the show dark? Oh yeah. Where the timeline and everything. It's just like these people shouldn't be and yet they are and and they by their very presence, they cause problems. Yeah, they they just cause disruption in the universe because they exist. There exists. I'm really into that too.

The esthetic is, is great. Like they've got it evened out I think pretty well. Like the depictions are really cool. There's like the strict there's like the anti Strix Haven that's kind of built into it. Also like that gives it a good. Yeah kind of core place to lean back on. And I'm like I'm glad it's not Ravnica.

Although Ravnica characters do make an appearance, Brad was kind of irritated that we didn't get a rack dose like a shifted dose. Yeah, like there's a it, but there's not a like they didn't have Nicholas and but not rack. Yeah. Like what would you want a Celestia rack dose wouldn't just upset an angelic.

And then Jelic read Celestia. Yeah, yeah. He was a little weirded out by that. But I think it's I think it was cool. I think they, I think they had a, I think they could have made it really hokey and true. They didn't really overstep it. Too bad. I think there's some weird ones here or there, but like there's a couple, they could have gone nuts with it.

And it just that's, that's actually that's actually a good point. Like there was room to fail with the art presentation. Really see choices. And they, they really they genuinely didn't fail like with their presentation of this concept. Right. Yeah. Thanks patrons, for supporting the podcast and then doing the reviews for the cards.

Yeah. Yeah. What's next? I think you got something for it. Yeah. I'm. Yeah, you're right, I, I need to get back on the graveyard thing. We got derailed, set reviews and then just some personal stuff going on in my life. Like, I just haven't been able to, like, be creative. In the way I wanted to be in.

And I don't want to ship something and, like, have it become, you know, I mean, everything we do is going to be debated, but, like, too bad if I really nailed it in. So I also with those series, you kind of want to put your best foot forward with the series type things, right? So right. Like you and I are, you know, we were kind of coming to the realization that we're approaching our 10th year.

Yeah, next year will be our 10th year. And I, I'm thinking, I don't want to call, you know, for two guys. I don't have any offspring. Like this podcast is a bit of our baby. So it is a bit of a baby. I want to ship things that are that are I don't want to say the word timeless because the game refuses to let anything be that it's true, short of some reserve list cards that shouldn't exist.

But you know. Yeah. Yeah, absolutely. Yeah. That's I think where we will hit next.
