Hey, it's Stephanie, and I'm outside the Maricopa County Superior Courthouse. Just a few minutes ago, a judge sentenced Laura to 30 days in jail. She also was sentenced with 12 months deferred jail time and seven years probation with a computer stipulation. I'm here with Clayton's attorney, Greg Woodnick, because he's going to explain the sentence that Laura received today, but first, I want to thank you for joining us.
I'll give the simplest explanation. Laura was taken away in handcuffs. She will do 30 consecutive days beginning today. She is on probation for seven years. Should she violate probation, she could certainly be incarcerated again. But the great likelihood is that she will serve 30 days in jail, and that will be the extent of her incarceration.
This hearing was a lot longer than any of us were expecting, and the state presented a lot of new information that left the court absolutely stunned. I mean, even at moments, there were audible gasps. I think one of the biggest surprises was at the end of the hearing, Laura was actually taken away and handcuffed in the courtroom to begin serving that sentence. She's going to be in the Maricopa County Jail until November 22nd. I didn't have a chance to connect with Clayton after the hearing because he wanted to get out of here as soon as possible.
I think that the victims in this case were not happy with the outcome. I wasn't able to speak with any of them, but their body language and the way that they walked out of the courtroom spoke loudly. I will have more information and more conversations with people over the next week or so, and we will bring you the last and final episode of season one of Love Trapped on Thursday, November 12th. Thanks so much for listening.
Thank you.
