[SPEAKER_01]: Hello, and welcome back to another episode of Mage Hand High Five. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm your dungeon master, Casey Pappas, and with me, ranked least to most likely to misplace their own pants. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: I think we gave away the ranking by the how we responded to that.
[SPEAKER_01]: Least, Robin Langenhub. [SPEAKER_05]: Ah, I am robin' laying it up for laying hidden concave, and I always know where my pants are. [SPEAKER_05]: I'm so glad. [SPEAKER_05]: They're not always like neatly put away, but I know where they are. [SPEAKER_00]: Ah, that's good. [SPEAKER_00]: Next, Max Weinberg.
[SPEAKER_00]: Hello, it's me, Max Weinberg playing Wyatt Forsyth. [SPEAKER_00]: And do you mean like a particular pair of pants? [SPEAKER_00]: Like, I got to know where my like dress pants are or just pants. [SPEAKER_00]: Uh, that's telling on its own. [SPEAKER_00]: Up to interpretation. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, like, sometimes I'm like, I want my black jeans and I don't know where the my black jeans are.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, see, I think that you asking for clarification on this is a little damning. [SPEAKER_02]: I think that proves that you're in the middle. [SPEAKER_02]: Right. [SPEAKER_02]: You don't have a pants drawer? [SPEAKER_00]: I do, but I have 80D. [SPEAKER_00]: I think I use my dresser. [SPEAKER_00]: It's all in a hamper somewhere.
[SPEAKER_01]: And finally, Ron McStay. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know where lots of my things are. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm someone who seems like they have a lot together and absolutely does not. [SPEAKER_02]: It's all a little screen. [SPEAKER_02]: It's such a thin veneer. [SPEAKER_02]: Like once you get to know me even a little bit, you're like, oh, they don't know what's going on.
[SPEAKER_02]: Like if I forget your birthday, it's not because I don't know when your birthday is, it's because I don't know what fucking day it is. [SPEAKER_05]: Rowan hasn't seen their child in 15 years. [SPEAKER_02]: I have a kid, but Solomon made doesn't wear pants. [SPEAKER_02]: So that's not a problem for her.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, fantastic. [SPEAKER_01]: With that. [SPEAKER_01]: Let's dive right in is what I would say if we weren't separated. [SPEAKER_01]: So will everybody but Max who I'm first to part the table. [SPEAKER_02]: All right, bye, Wyatt kisses. [SPEAKER_02]: Bye, bye, bye. [SPEAKER_02]: Tutals.
[SPEAKER_01]: Wyatt. [SPEAKER_01]: Last time, you were on your way to the found with Boyd. [SPEAKER_01]: While in route, you came upon Father Moldin and in a cell, along with other devotees of the flame. [SPEAKER_01]: You attempted to contact him in secret, but the spell was reverberated back at you, resulting in an unpleasant psychic experience.
[SPEAKER_01]: You continued with Boyd, but caught Father Moldin and his eye as you left. [SPEAKER_01]: In the elevator down to the fountain, you and Boyd begin to argue, each of you holding a level of disdain for the other, to put it lightly. [SPEAKER_01]: You arrived at the fountain of the flame, finding it sealed with a mysterious handprint identical to your mark of the flame.
[SPEAKER_01]: Against Boyd's protestations, you opened the fountain. [SPEAKER_01]: Only to find this to be exactly Boyd's real goal all this time. [SPEAKER_01]: When he we last left off, Boyd had thrown both hands into the found and begun to draw from its power. [SPEAKER_01]: Where you are now? [SPEAKER_01]: You are in this small cavern with Boyd.
[SPEAKER_01]: Both of his hands are in the jet of flame shooting up from this small hole in the middle of the room. [SPEAKER_01]: and you watch as this flame is swirling up his arms. [SPEAKER_01]: And he says, ooh boy, we're really in it now. [SPEAKER_01]: You see this? [SPEAKER_01]: You see this boy, this is real power.
[SPEAKER_01]: And this is gonna make me one of the richest men on earth. [SPEAKER_01]: You see? [SPEAKER_01]: I couldn't open the fount by myself, I had to get a one flame touched or some shit. [SPEAKER_01]: So thank you for that. [SPEAKER_01]: As much as we might not lack each other, you've been real helpful to me today.
[SPEAKER_01]: And that's why I think I'm going to give you the friends and family discount. [SPEAKER_01]: For what? [SPEAKER_01]: Times, huh? [SPEAKER_01]: Look at me. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm a peak physical specimen. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm in the prime while it holds in a snicker. [SPEAKER_01]: But I ain't always going to be like that.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now imagine if you had access to a pocket of power, untouched. [SPEAKER_01]: Heal you in a snap. [SPEAKER_01]: Take the damn years off you. [SPEAKER_01]: Why these rich folks upstairs never have to give away their money to their own grateful children? [SPEAKER_01]: They give it to me. [SPEAKER_01]: You see why I am pioneering a new, very lucrative field, life itself.
[SPEAKER_01]: When I start selling tickets, you and your family, well, I'll give you a 5% discount. [SPEAKER_01]: How about that? [SPEAKER_01]: You dip your hands in the flame, you get the secret of life, you get immortality, and I get twenty-five million gold. [SPEAKER_01]: How's that? [SPEAKER_00]: But if you live forever that defeats the point of living, defeats the point of living, nothing matters anymore, nothing matters, nothing matters.
[SPEAKER_01]: Sun. [SPEAKER_01]: You live forever, you never, you never experience death, you experience everything good in life. [SPEAKER_00]: So you'll just watch your friends die to be alone for the rest of your life, that's what you want. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, if my friends can pony up the 25 million gold a pop, I won't have to watch them die.
[SPEAKER_01]: They can live right alongside me. [SPEAKER_00]: I think at this moment why it is incredibly angry because this idea is ludicrous and the idea that your friends have the purest of capitalism that your friends and family can only join if they have enough money. [SPEAKER_00]: gets why it unbelievably mad he's gonna run at avoid and just try to push him out of the pillar of fire I am going to have you roll a strength check why it's anger absolutely gets the better of him because that's a seven [SPEAKER_01]: Well, Boyd rolled in 18, so you, you run to him, and push him, and he doesn't move.
[SPEAKER_01]: Why it you feel a little crazy, as if something is being, some energy is leaving you. [SPEAKER_01]: your access to the flame has been flickering over the past week or two and now more than ever it is draining quick. [SPEAKER_01]: And at the same time, Boyd has Boyd gotten a little bigger.
[SPEAKER_00]: Is he looking stronger? [SPEAKER_00]: Why it kind of like rolls off of Boyd to get away a little bit and [SPEAKER_00]: and why it is just pleading with boy, just take his hands out of the fire and stop. [SPEAKER_00]: Boy, what are you doing? [SPEAKER_00]: How can you do this? [SPEAKER_00]: Your friends and your family, they're the ones that are with you.
[SPEAKER_00]: Money won't be there. [SPEAKER_00]: What if you have no money? [SPEAKER_00]: Then you have to rely on your friends. [SPEAKER_00]: That's what I've been doing this entire time with Solomon and Hayden. [SPEAKER_01]: They're the reason [SPEAKER_01]: This is so far and beyond what void is able to understand.
[SPEAKER_01]: So he just looks at you and says, I don't really go in for that friendship type shit. [SPEAKER_01]: Your friends, they make you weak. [SPEAKER_01]: You know what doesn't make you weak? [SPEAKER_01]: And as he says this, he pulls his hands out of the fire and you see that the fire has not left them.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now both of his fists glow a bright orange. [SPEAKER_01]: The rings on his finger look red hot. [SPEAKER_01]: And he says, live in forever. [SPEAKER_00]: But here's the thing, even living forever doesn't have to be just you. [SPEAKER_00]: The word of the flame lives inside all of us, and you should know that, since we walked through that hallway, I walked past someone who I thought was long gone, but lived forever with me and with Hayden.
[SPEAKER_00]: Father Mulden in is still alive, and he is the single greatest person that I have ever met. [SPEAKER_00]: greater than any little man like you. [SPEAKER_00]: And at this moment, Wyatt cast Guardians, Guardian of Faith, which summons a large, a D&D size, like ethereal, father-moldenning to come and protect him in whatever is about to happen.
[SPEAKER_01]: Boyd looks at this giant father-moldenning who is just appeared and says, [SPEAKER_01]: Sun, I don't know who the fuck that is. [SPEAKER_01]: Hey, Rayth, why don't you go upstairs and make sure we're not interrupted for this next part? [SPEAKER_01]: And you look, and as you look, the elevator door is open, and you watch as someone who has been in this room with you the entire time comes out of invisibility.
[SPEAKER_01]: I suit of white, night's armor, two wicked-looking blades, one in each hand. [SPEAKER_01]: This figure steps onto the elevator, and it closes behind them. [SPEAKER_01]: And as they do that, Max, would you do me a favor? [SPEAKER_01]: No, would you call in, Rowan and Robin, please? [SPEAKER_01]: Would you self, I don't want to do this anymore.
[SPEAKER_01]: solemnly. [SPEAKER_01]: Caught in the library, you were able to convince Dr. Vish that you were a socialite lost in the arena. [SPEAKER_01]: He escorted you back to the entrance and went to grab your tickets while you excused yourself to the restroom, turning invisible the moment you did.
[SPEAKER_01]: You snuck into the stands only to find a game in progress, one containing both more [SPEAKER_01]: Hayden. [SPEAKER_01]: While heading out of the arena with Belinda, you discovered she had been investigating where Parabas went before being caught. [SPEAKER_01]: She killed a guard, replaced him, and has been investigating ever since.
[SPEAKER_01]: You both headed down to the location of the flames prisoners, encountering father Maldinin. [SPEAKER_01]: He let you know that Wyatt had just started down the elevator with Boyd Crinsha, the man who runs the place. [SPEAKER_01]: You both went up to find Salome in the arena, running into Dr. Vish along the way.
[SPEAKER_01]: Unbeknownst to you, you attempted to pull the same trick, Solomon did, minutes earlier. [SPEAKER_01]: Sensing something was a miss, he sounded the alarm. [SPEAKER_01]: As you ran, you encountered Solomon, fresh on the run herself, and you both headed for the elevator down to the fount of the flame.
[SPEAKER_05]: Where you are now? [SPEAKER_01]: Where you are now, Solomon and Hayden, you rush forward, still running through the bowels of this place. [SPEAKER_01]: Trying your best to reach the elevator to the bottom level. [SPEAKER_02]: So, I'm still invisible, right? [SPEAKER_02]: And Ballinda is with us in a mask.
[SPEAKER_01]: Ballinda is with you in, like, full black armor with a Hound's mask. [SPEAKER_05]: Yes, I think if there's an immediate moment where I'm actively not being observed by Doc, I will switch again. [SPEAKER_01]: Great. [SPEAKER_01]: Who do you change into? [SPEAKER_05]: I've seen enough prisoners' garb now that I could transform myself into a non-descript prisoner, right?
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, the thing is, [SPEAKER_01]: everyone in this place is sort of just wearing their own clothes. [SPEAKER_01]: There is no prisoner's guard, there's no, like, identifier as to who's a guard, except that they are people fully armored walking around outside of the cells. [SPEAKER_05]: then I will change into my trademark non-descript man and put my hands behind my back the second we passed the door and start moving at a more reasonable pace.
[SPEAKER_01]: Belinda sees you do it and just grabs your hands to be your escorting guard. [SPEAKER_02]: a from invisibility. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know that Belinda knows that I'm here yet, but from invisibility. [SPEAKER_02]: Solomon says, wait, hold on. [SPEAKER_02]: Sorry, have Ms. Bartle of I keep running into you invisible.
[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe we should go with Officer Bartle just temporarily? [SPEAKER_02]: Do you work here? [SPEAKER_02]: Because that's a different conversation. [SPEAKER_01]: Belinda says, let's wait. [SPEAKER_01]: We'll talk about this on our lower level. [SPEAKER_02]: All right, fun. [SPEAKER_02]: Hell, do we think why it's down there?
[SPEAKER_05]: Last I heard, that's where he's headed. [SPEAKER_05]: All right, with some... Crenshaw, something or other, the, the guy who owns the place. [SPEAKER_05]: Boyd Crenshaw. [SPEAKER_05]: Boyd Crenshaw, that's right. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, doc, doc, Dervish was talking to me about boyd Crenshaw.
[SPEAKER_02]: All right, there's, there's not people around, are there? [SPEAKER_02]: I assume we're about to be intercepted. [SPEAKER_01]: You are going along the catwalk overlooking the prisoner bay. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: hundreds of cages of cells below you stretch off and circle around the building.
[SPEAKER_01]: You hear from behind, stop them, and a bunch of guards run past you, and they continue on and split off down different hallways. [SPEAKER_01]: in order to cover more ground. [SPEAKER_01]: Belinda quickly takes your hands hidden and steers you down a different path. [SPEAKER_01]: As you go, Belinda makes sudden sharp turns, seeming to decide almost arbitrarily, now we're going down this way and now we're going down this way.
[SPEAKER_01]: In some cases, she doubles back and goes down the different path. [SPEAKER_01]: Twisting her way through the prison she seems to have this place mapped out. [SPEAKER_01]: Glad someone does. [SPEAKER_01]: And the sounds of the guards in the distance fade away. [SPEAKER_01]: And now you are free of the guards pursuing, continuing deeper down into this place.
[SPEAKER_02]: What happened to y'all? [SPEAKER_02]: Can we talk about it now? [SPEAKER_02]: Because I have been worried sick about you, [SPEAKER_05]: I'm all right. [SPEAKER_05]: I poofed into this, uh, this labyrinth arena thing. [SPEAKER_05]: I was one of the competitors in a, I guess, a previous round.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: No, phylamina, you, you mentioned you were in the games. [SPEAKER_02]: phylamina and more drick are in there right now. [SPEAKER_02]: And I, I don't know how to get them out. [SPEAKER_05]: That's not good. [SPEAKER_05]: I don't know if there's any way we can help them from where we are.
[SPEAKER_05]: But, to my understanding, only four people make it out. [SPEAKER_02]: Holy hell, okay. [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, well, Miss Bartle, it is good to see you. [SPEAKER_02]: But, how the hell did you get in here? [SPEAKER_02]: Were you looking for Barabas as soon? [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I was until, uh, you let me know that he is not here.
[SPEAKER_02]: No, he's not, are you, why are you still here? [SPEAKER_02]: Why not make a break for it? [SPEAKER_01]: Well, you only told me about this yesterday. [SPEAKER_01]: So I hadn't quite had time to make an escape plan. [SPEAKER_05]: Right. [SPEAKER_05]: Okay. [SPEAKER_05]: Well. [SPEAKER_05]: One way or another.
[SPEAKER_05]: Here we are. [SPEAKER_05]: We're not going to be here too much longer. [SPEAKER_01]: Listen, I know wherever you folks go, uh, they tend to shut the place down afterward. [SPEAKER_05]: So we do have a tendency for that. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think we got a bit of a reputation. [SPEAKER_02]: How do you all know why it's down there?
[SPEAKER_05]: I ran into a... [SPEAKER_05]: bit of a reminder from my own past, a prisoner here. [SPEAKER_05]: I need you to be specific. [SPEAKER_05]: His name is, his name is Father Maldannon. [SPEAKER_05]: You really need a Father Maldannon here? [SPEAKER_05]: Yes. [SPEAKER_05]: What? [SPEAKER_05]: Why it's mentor?
[SPEAKER_05]: And mine. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't think so many knows about this, right? [SPEAKER_05]: My, a lot of my history with the church before everything went down with the pipas was with this man. [SPEAKER_05]: I thought that he had been killed off by court war, but apparently he was caught it off here.
[SPEAKER_05]: This was years ago. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh my God, then he's still alive down here. [SPEAKER_05]: Yes, and I made him a promise that we'd do everything we can to get him in the others out. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, we're getting everybody out of here. [SPEAKER_05]: We better. [SPEAKER_02]: And if I'm going to be honest with you, I think [SPEAKER_02]: I would like to burn this place to the ground if we can help it.
[SPEAKER_05]: You know who would be able to help us do that? [SPEAKER_05]: Someone who's really well acquainted with fire. [SPEAKER_02]: Wait, oh shit, I forgot to tell y'all. [SPEAKER_02]: Do you know anything about the book that Dr. Ravish is carrying? [SPEAKER_05]: No. [SPEAKER_05]: No, I saw it. [SPEAKER_05]: It's all for the first time when I met him just a moment ago.
[SPEAKER_05]: What's this now? [SPEAKER_02]: Right, y'all. [SPEAKER_02]: So, um, I got [SPEAKER_02]: sent down into the prison as well but I didn't get sent to the games there's a woman next to me who I also told I would come back for her names loaded she's real nice seems to have been here for a long time nobody I know but I wound up in the library there's a there's a massive library down deeper in the prison and there's a book about the flame and it's people and apparently they are trying to [SPEAKER_02]: open, something in the found to the flame, some source of power that the flame has or is.
[SPEAKER_02]: They're trying to open it and apparently only one person who is flame touched can open it, and that sounds a lot like Wyatt, and that they were, they tried to drag another fire spellcaster out of a cell next to me, and he blew himself up trying to get out. [SPEAKER_05]: That story, the flame is tail about the flame eventually consuming us all?
[SPEAKER_05]: Are they trying to make that happen? [SPEAKER_02]: I have no idea. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I wouldn't put it past the church to try to make something like that happen, but I don't know about these people. [SPEAKER_02]: I get the feeling they're just looking for power. [SPEAKER_01]: That sounds less like the guy who runs this place boy is a, oh, he's a real son of a bitch.
[SPEAKER_01]: He really only cares about money and about power. [SPEAKER_01]: and anything that can get him those two things. [SPEAKER_02]: Do you know if they keep a list of the people who visit this place? [SPEAKER_01]: Ugh. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know for sure. [SPEAKER_01]: They do try to keep stuff like that secret.
[SPEAKER_01]: However, I wouldn't put it past void to keep his own personal list of everybody in order to make sure that we're anything to happen. [SPEAKER_01]: He'd have dirt on them. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, I'd like to go ahead and find that list of I can, but in the meantime, I suppose we want to go looking for why it is there anything else y'all have gathered information that y'all have about this situation before we go into this.
[SPEAKER_02]: I heard somebody called the rath, I don't know who that is. [SPEAKER_01]: Somebody who works here, they used to be a competitor long ago, but they were so good that they rose above it. [SPEAKER_01]: They got hired on as a, well, they were a fan favorite for a long time because they were sort of the butcher of the games.
[SPEAKER_02]: Right. [SPEAKER_02]: Do you have any idea who they are? [SPEAKER_01]: I don't. [SPEAKER_01]: They never take off their armor. [SPEAKER_05]: I went toe to toe with them full moment down in the games. [SPEAKER_05]: They were practically intangible. [SPEAKER_05]: So I ran. [SPEAKER_05]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're able to cloak themselves at will. [SPEAKER_01]: Turn invisible. [SPEAKER_01]: Blink of an eye. [SPEAKER_01]: If we get further into this, we're going to have to deal with them. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, probably, they're probably them, and Dr. Division, what, void? [SPEAKER_01]: If Y had ain't already dealing with void, well, I guess if, if, boy, ain't already dealing with Y had, [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I think that the the best thing that I can think of is that Boyd probably needs Wyatt to open up this this flame seal and I think that Wyatt bless him has enough of a head on his shoulders that he wouldn't just do it.
[SPEAKER_02]: So at the very least, I think that Boyd needs him alive. [SPEAKER_02]: I hope that Boyd needs him alive. [SPEAKER_05]: My instinct is to go straight after Wyatt. [SPEAKER_05]: collect him and then figure out what to do next. [SPEAKER_05]: But is there anything to be said for starting up a mass jailbreak now and using the chaos to all advantage?
[SPEAKER_01]: If I may. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, yeah, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: There's a section of prisoners. [SPEAKER_01]: Hayden, we already went there where all of these these flame folk, what have you? [SPEAKER_01]: They're all grouped together in one place, all of the [SPEAKER_05]: All the flame worshipers who didn't have the ability that they were looking for.
[SPEAKER_05]: That's where Father Maldonan is. [SPEAKER_05]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: I think there's a small number of cages there. [SPEAKER_01]: We let them out. [SPEAKER_01]: That's enough of a distraction. [SPEAKER_01]: If we go around in this big prisoner bay down here, we're going to get caught quick.
[SPEAKER_05]: And I've won them to be ready for when the door's open. [SPEAKER_02]: All right. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, Miss Bartle, you know better than we do. [SPEAKER_02]: So we'll do what she think is best. [SPEAKER_01]: I know how to get to sell Block F. Let's go. [SPEAKER_01]: and she takes you there.
[SPEAKER_01]: As you enter cell block F, there are the rows of prisoners. [SPEAKER_01]: Solomy, this is the first time you're seeing this room, Hayden, you were here not too long ago. [SPEAKER_01]: This section is sectioned off from the rest of the prisoners. [SPEAKER_01]: There are only a few rows of cells.
[SPEAKER_01]: All of them contain people with insignias of the flame. [SPEAKER_01]: Some of them are flame nights. [SPEAKER_01]: Some of them are just regular people. [SPEAKER_01]: Hayden, you spot Father Maldon and still sitting in his cell. [SPEAKER_01]: And as you approach, he looks up, sees you and says, you're back.
[SPEAKER_05]: Yes, I brought a friend, if it's all right with y'all, we'll think we're going to get these doors open for you and hopefully the other's eventually, but we just need a little bit of chaos going so that we can... You need us to run interference. [SPEAKER_05]: If that's all right, I don't want to put you into any extra harm's way.
[SPEAKER_01]: Hayden, I've always looked at myself as a means through which the flame can help its own. [SPEAKER_01]: If I can help these people, then the amount of danger I'm in does not matter. [SPEAKER_05]: Hey, it starts tearing up again. [SPEAKER_01]: Consider me a warding flare. [SPEAKER_01]: Are you following why it?
[SPEAKER_05]: That's what we're going next. [SPEAKER_01]: By this point, Belinda has opened his cage and is now going down the line, has led out a couple more flame nights. [SPEAKER_01]: And [SPEAKER_01]: Father Muldin and says, right, well, we'll do what we can. [SPEAKER_01]: Take another set of keys, open more cells.
[SPEAKER_05]: I reach out my hands to him. [SPEAKER_01]: He takes your hands. [SPEAKER_04]: May the flame, the true flame, keep you safe and keep you warm. [SPEAKER_04]: Until we meet again. [SPEAKER_01]: May the flame keep you. [SPEAKER_01]: And his hands warm, they're, they're a little toasty. [SPEAKER_02]: As this is happening, can I go over to one of the flame nights and say, Howdy, are y'all sent here from Sacrament from Seer Mave?
[SPEAKER_01]: They look at each other and say, you're initiated. [SPEAKER_02]: No. [SPEAKER_01]: You know of Sacrament. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, yes, yes to that no to initiated. [SPEAKER_02]: But we're, you know. [SPEAKER_02]: We're temporarily deputized. [SPEAKER_02]: She sent us. [SPEAKER_02]: Is this all y'all or do we need to pick up more people?
[SPEAKER_01]: They look in one of them hangs their head and says, this is all of us. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry. [SPEAKER_02]: All right. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, hey, it's good to have you back. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm sure you may be very happy to see you. [SPEAKER_02]: There's another prisoner in here who's real interested and learned about sacrament.
[SPEAKER_02]: That's actually the reason she's here. [SPEAKER_02]: So I have to introduce y'all later. [SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, see you soon. [SPEAKER_01]: They sort of, they look at each other and go, okay? [SPEAKER_01]: and one of them takes in me, as if to bow to a fellow knight. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I take a knee and then realize that no one can see me do it.
[SPEAKER_02]: I think the knight just hears a rossling of petty coats, as I try to take a knee. [SPEAKER_01]: Great. [SPEAKER_02]: And we go for Wyatt? [SPEAKER_01]: And you go for Wyatt. [SPEAKER_01]: Let's go. [SPEAKER_01]: As you spot the elevator doors, the elevator doors are not very far away, from here.
[SPEAKER_01]: As you spot them, Solomon, you see the last person you'd expect, standing next to them. [SPEAKER_01]: An elephant woman in a hot pink dress, flashy and eye-catching, blonde hair tied back in a highly stylized bun, it's Mary Jean Wayne Wright. [SPEAKER_01]: Though since her husband's unfortunate death, she's likely going by her maiden name, Laterno.
[SPEAKER_02]: Laterno. [SPEAKER_01]: Mary Jean Laterno. [SPEAKER_02]: OK, I mean, it's kind of telling to me that she's going by her maiden name after her husband's death, because not everybody does that. [SPEAKER_02]: What do I remember about Mary Jean Laterno? [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, Mary Jean was not overly involved in her husband's affairs.
[SPEAKER_01]: You can't tell whether that's because she didn't care, or because he wouldn't let her. [SPEAKER_01]: Similar to you, she's originally from the Badlands, but for the time you've known her, she seems to be really enjoying the finer things. [SPEAKER_01]: She really likes her stuff. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, but I couldn't really get a beat on her vibe beyond that.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like she wasn't super engaged with me. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, who did? [SPEAKER_02]: Ahem. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay. [SPEAKER_02]: So it's, sorry, is she in one of the cells? [SPEAKER_01]: No, she's coming down the hallway as if headed toward the elevator. [SPEAKER_02]: So it's like she works here.
[SPEAKER_01]: You don't know? [SPEAKER_02]: Sorry. [SPEAKER_02]: One moment, please. [SPEAKER_02]: I happen to know this woman. [SPEAKER_02]: I walk up behind her and put Thadius's gun at her back. [SPEAKER_01]: Hands in the air. [SPEAKER_01]: And she says, oh, Mayor Jane, I ain't got no money. [SPEAKER_01]: What the hell are you doing here?
[SPEAKER_01]: She says, you sound familiar. [SPEAKER_01]: Have I, are you, have I met you? [SPEAKER_02]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_02]: You sure have. [SPEAKER_02]: Now what the hell are you doing here? [SPEAKER_01]: I have met you. [SPEAKER_01]: You have a gun. [SPEAKER_01]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god, Solomon.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, ma'am. [SPEAKER_01]: What are you doing here? [SPEAKER_02]: I'm here trying to get my friends and family out of this place and to try to track down the people running it. [SPEAKER_02]: What, what, what are you just coming here to get your laughs? [SPEAKER_02]: Now that Luther's died, are you here for entertainment?
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, like everybody else, from great. [SPEAKER_01]: Hold on, well, what with dad's recent chipaws is in waves or hands and says, [SPEAKER_01]: unfortunate death, when Luther was killed, well, people thought I had something to do with it. [SPEAKER_01]: So I hid for a while and found someone to buy my time with, and this was his idea of a first damn date.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, honey. [SPEAKER_01]: What kind of a first date is this? [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, I don't know him very well. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I don't know him very well. [SPEAKER_01]: He just had money. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh dear heart. [SPEAKER_01]: And who was this? [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Johnny.
[SPEAKER_01]: Johnny what? [SPEAKER_01]: Johnny, Johnny. [SPEAKER_01]: Johnny Fiercen. [SPEAKER_01]: He's upstairs. [SPEAKER_02]: Johnny Fiercen. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, do I know Johnny Fiercen? [SPEAKER_01]: You do not know Johnny Fiercen. [SPEAKER_02]: A first date, huh? [SPEAKER_02]: And how are you feeling?
[SPEAKER_02]: How are you feeling about that first date with Johnny Ferson? [SPEAKER_01]: Well not great because there's a lot of shouting upstairs and so I thought I'd come down here to try and get away from whatever's going on up there. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh it's a shout and it's bothering you? [SPEAKER_01]: Well I mean that in the you know...
[SPEAKER_02]: The what? [SPEAKER_02]: The what? [SPEAKER_01]: The killing? [SPEAKER_01]: Are you gonna hurt me? [SPEAKER_02]: Maybe. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay. [SPEAKER_02]: What exactly is upsetting to you about this? [SPEAKER_02]: Well, is it that your date's not going very well? [SPEAKER_02]: Or is it something else?
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm, no, I listen. [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't know where he was taking me. [SPEAKER_01]: He said this was gonna be a surprise. [SPEAKER_01]: And then there was people, you know, spilling each other's entrails. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't really like it. [SPEAKER_02]: Ha ha ha. [SPEAKER_02]: Right, right, no.
[SPEAKER_02]: You three people do just about anything to avoid feeling culpable, won't you? [SPEAKER_02]: I listen, just get the hell out of here, Mary Jane. [UNKNOWN]: Okay? [SPEAKER_02]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Wait, can I... can I go? [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, shit. [SPEAKER_02]: Hell. [SPEAKER_02]: Hey, what do you think?
[SPEAKER_05]: I think we've got to pick our battles a bit. [SPEAKER_05]: There's a... there's a lot for us to take on right now. [SPEAKER_05]: If you don't think she's dangerous, then maybe we just... let it go. [SPEAKER_01]: It seems like there's a lot of shouting upstairs. [SPEAKER_01]: Seems like there's a lot of dangerous people running around.
[SPEAKER_02]: There's a lot of a lot of things upstairs. [SPEAKER_02]: Mary Jane, you're about the most dangerous kind of person running around here. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay. [SPEAKER_02]: I am sorry. [SPEAKER_02]: Mitt Luther's death was pinned on you. [SPEAKER_02]: That was not fair. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't.
[SPEAKER_01]: He just sort of went off one day and then never came back. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh. [SPEAKER_01]: And they said he was stabbed the death in a mob. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, um... [SPEAKER_02]: Darlin, I think we ought to talk. [SPEAKER_02]: Why don't you just shant. [SPEAKER_02]: Luther was trying to kill a lot of people in Providence.
[SPEAKER_02]: He was doing a lot of what that is was doing. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know how aware you are of any of that, but he was doing a lot of the same things and they were killing a lot of people and hurting a lot of people, just like Johnny and just like you and just like everybody else here. [SPEAKER_02]: So I killed Luther.
[SPEAKER_02]: And he had already stabbed me in the back and turned half a Providence against itself. [SPEAKER_02]: So you'll forgive me if I don't feel terribly bad about that. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I, uh, that's a lot. [SPEAKER_01]: That's a lot of information. [SPEAKER_01]: Um, no, it is. [SPEAKER_01]: Is there anything I can do to help you make you feel better?
[SPEAKER_02]: What, what? [SPEAKER_01]: You seem like you're kind of having a rough day. [SPEAKER_02]: That is an insane question. [SPEAKER_02]: You can go home and burn three to the ground is what you can do, Mary Jane. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, let's not don't give a damn whether we married into it or not.
[SPEAKER_02]: None of us from that city deserve to get out alive at this point. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, are you going to shoot me if I run off? [SPEAKER_02]: No, okay, hell. [SPEAKER_01]: Do you mind if I start running? [SPEAKER_02]: Just run, just go, just get out of here and try to do something better with your life, shit.
[SPEAKER_01]: She starts running, pauses, takes off her high heels and then keeps running. [SPEAKER_05]: You know what that is? [SPEAKER_05]: Growth. [SPEAKER_02]: Is it? [SPEAKER_02]: Not really. [SPEAKER_02]: I haven't got it. [SPEAKER_02]: She had always felt bad for her, but I don't know what the hell to do with that.
[SPEAKER_01]: The elevator opens. [SPEAKER_01]: You hadn't? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: You head into the elevator. [SPEAKER_01]: There's only one other button. [SPEAKER_01]: Do you click it? [SPEAKER_02]: Is it down? [SPEAKER_01]: It's down. [SPEAKER_02]: Let's go. [SPEAKER_01]: Great. [SPEAKER_01]: You.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like the button. [SPEAKER_01]: The elevator starts to descend. [SPEAKER_02]: Did Mary Jane seem upset about me killing Luther? [SPEAKER_02]: Can I do like a retroactive inside check as we're riding this elevator? [SPEAKER_01]: Sure. [SPEAKER_01]: Roll a retroactive inside check. [SPEAKER_02]: Great.
[SPEAKER_02]: That's a 23. [SPEAKER_01]: 23 she seemed a little upset okay that's fair and as you're thinking back on it the elevator come joltz and holtz you hear a you hear an alarm did it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it
[SPEAKER_01]: She says, ah, I mean, there's the, she points to the hatch. [SPEAKER_01]: I can't. [SPEAKER_01]: Let's go. [SPEAKER_01]: And as she starts to click it, she opens it and you hear your voice shouting, what, you think you can just hold a gun to my back? [SPEAKER_01]: You, you think you can just threaten me?
[SPEAKER_01]: It's perfectly fine if you kill your own meal ticket, but you didn't have to kill mine. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh! [SPEAKER_01]: And now you're coming down here to kill my other meal ticket after I just found him. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, bitch. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh [SPEAKER_01]: is peering into the elevator shaft.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, and she says, I hope you wrought down there. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I should have killed you when I had the chance. [SPEAKER_01]: And as she says that, would you do me a favor and call in Max? [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, sure. [SPEAKER_02]: Are we leaving? [SPEAKER_01]: You're leaving. [SPEAKER_01]: the elevator doors close.
[SPEAKER_01]: And as you turn back to look at Boyd, a fist full of rings, red hot clocks you. [SPEAKER_01]: What? [SPEAKER_01]: Boyd rolled a 27 to hit you. [SPEAKER_01]: God, yeah, just no. [SPEAKER_01]: uh... and you're going to take eighteen bludgeoning damage as you feel boys rings connect with your jaw he says you know what you were right you were right i think you are just a little fucking kid i don't think you're an adult an adult would know to take the money but you and he's gonna try and hit you again [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to awarding flame because I don't want to get hit, okay, again.
[SPEAKER_01]: Ooh, that is a 16. [SPEAKER_01]: That misses. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: He misses on the second one. [SPEAKER_01]: He misses your jaw. [SPEAKER_01]: And then he's going to try and hit you one more time. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's going to be a 19 to hit. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, God. [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, and that is going to be 13 points of bloodshitting damage.
[SPEAKER_00]: God, Casey. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like a truck, but we can't forget about father-molden and because he is still around and Yes, yes, I need Boyd to make a deck save. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay That is an 11 deck save. [SPEAKER_00]: So this is probably not gonna say After Boyd clocks Wyatt that second time a book from out of nowhere comes out and just max down on Boyd for 20 radiant damage [SPEAKER_01]: Ooh, let me have you roll a religion.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because there's one more aspect of this fight. [SPEAKER_01]: You know I love rules, okay, see? [SPEAKER_01]: Ha ha ha ha ha. [SPEAKER_01]: That's a 26 with a 26 religion. [SPEAKER_01]: The flame itself, your God has a limited amount of time before his power goes out. [SPEAKER_01]: Drawing on it too much, [SPEAKER_01]: We'll speed that up, however, giving to it will bolster him, and in turn bolster you.
[SPEAKER_00]: So when you say give to it does that mean like use my action to feed fire into it or just yes. [SPEAKER_01]: So essentially how this is going to, how this fight is going to work. [SPEAKER_01]: is you can use your action to attack like to take your regular action or there are two additional actions that you can take.
[SPEAKER_01]: One is to draw from the flame and the second is to give to the flame. [SPEAKER_01]: Drawing from the flame will bolster your attack. [SPEAKER_01]: However, it will weaken the flame, and perhaps kill it. [SPEAKER_01]: If it gets low enough, or you can cast a fire or a healing spell to bolster the flame in return.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: When you do that, you can either give boy disadvantage on attacks for one turn, or heal [SPEAKER_00]: That's huge. [SPEAKER_01]: However, Boyd can pull from the found to either boost his health or his damage, but not both at the same time. [SPEAKER_00]: In this instance, are we going to count sacred flame as a fire spell?
[SPEAKER_00]: It's technically radiant damage, but it's from the light cleric. [SPEAKER_01]: Is it a full action? [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: All allowed. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_00]: So boy, it's really hard, and I can't be having that too much, so I'm gonna cast Sacred Flame into the fire, into the pillar of fire, and bolster it, and give boy disadvantage.
[SPEAKER_00]: On attacks for his next turn. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, all right, I will then use a bonus action to cast Sanctuary on myself. [SPEAKER_00]: Hmm. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_00]: So not only will he have to make a wisdom save to attack me, he will then attack if he succeeds on that with this advantage.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's gonna be a long fight, Casey, but I'm gonna get there. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no, that's awesome. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, you cast Sacred Flame on the jet. [SPEAKER_01]: And as you do, you feel it's power bolster. [SPEAKER_01]: You feel it strengthen, you feel it recharge. [SPEAKER_01]: a little bit.
[SPEAKER_01]: And you see the jet of flame shoot out. [SPEAKER_01]: Boy, ah! [SPEAKER_01]: Roars as this jet of flame dances across his eyes, giving him disadvantage on his next turn. [SPEAKER_01]: And says, all right, you little fuck. [SPEAKER_00]: That fire kind of reigns over me and just shimmers around me creating the sanctuary that he also has to get through.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm okay. [SPEAKER_00]: Cool. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm staying in the light of Father Muldennan who will hopefully protect me as much as possible. [SPEAKER_01]: Boyd is going to roll that deck safe for the Guardian of Faith. [SPEAKER_01]: That is not going to do it. [SPEAKER_00]: Great.
[SPEAKER_00]: The books smacks down again right on to them for another 20 rating damage. [SPEAKER_01]: Geez. [SPEAKER_00]: So reason they call it the good book. [SPEAKER_01]: So there's a wisdom save and then the disadvantage for the found. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Correct. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's do the wisdom save. [SPEAKER_01]: That's not going to do it. [SPEAKER_00]: Just punches the ground, I guess. [SPEAKER_01]: That swings wide. [SPEAKER_01]: A second one. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, that is a, that is going to hit. [SPEAKER_01]: So let's do the disadvantage. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that is going to hit with a 19.
[SPEAKER_01]: Come on, that is going to be 13 points of bludgeoning damage. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh God, kissing. [SPEAKER_01]: And then one more attack. [SPEAKER_01]: That is going to fail the wisdom save. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: So, hey, only 13 damage. [SPEAKER_01]: How is he looking? [SPEAKER_01]: He's looking fine.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's looking fine. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he's looking good. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, he's probably pretty beefy. [SPEAKER_00]: If he's taken 40 damage and is looking fine still. [SPEAKER_00]: Honestly, this old man is pretty jacked. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: He's got that like leathery Florida man body.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know you got you some muting to fire damage. [SPEAKER_00]: He's kind of jacked in a fucked-up way. [UNKNOWN]: God. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, I'm gonna have to hit myself Why it is as he didn't his fight against Clive is going to? [SPEAKER_00]: Build a fireball in his hand and push it directly into the pillar of fire To heal myself so I'll bolster the flame and then also heal myself with it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay [SPEAKER_00]: That's gonna be 30 damage. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, 30 health that I heal myself up. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that cause I needed. [SPEAKER_01]: You shoot this fire from your hands. [SPEAKER_01]: It joins the found and the fire that jet of fire grows. [SPEAKER_01]: And you get healed back for 30 health.
[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks the flame. [SPEAKER_01]: And as you do that, [SPEAKER_01]: Boyd looks at you and says, it's sad, really, seeing somebody who don't want to grow up. [SPEAKER_01]: We don't want to see the world for the way it is. [SPEAKER_01]: See the opportunities that await a man. [SPEAKER_01]: See, I thought we had something here why at a little mentor, mint tea type thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: I was gonna teach you the way of the world, but instead you wanna be a whittless fucking kid, a nerd, being let around by the nose. [SPEAKER_01]: Hell, son. [SPEAKER_01]: I bet wherever your daddy is, he hates your ass. [SPEAKER_01]: I would have followed him. [SPEAKER_00]: Why it just starts to make a giant fireball again in his hand, but it's not his turn.
[SPEAKER_00]: So he can't do anything about it. [SPEAKER_01]: Boyd Rear's back to clock you again, and as that fist comes back, max. [SPEAKER_01]: Would you do me a favor? [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so this is the worst time. [SPEAKER_01]: Ha ha. [SPEAKER_01]: Would you call in, Rowan and Robin, please? [SPEAKER_00]: Why would I start now?
[SPEAKER_01]: You're in the elevator, the elevator just jolted to a halt. [SPEAKER_01]: But Linda has flipped out onto the top of the elevator. [SPEAKER_01]: You hear, you hear Mary Jean Wayne Wright, or Mary Jean Cringe Shaw yelling down at you. [SPEAKER_01]: Are you both still in the elevator? [SPEAKER_02]: Can I get up and shoot at her?
[SPEAKER_01]: Sure, make an athletics check to get to the top of the elevator. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, Nat's 20. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, perfect. [SPEAKER_01]: Great. [SPEAKER_01]: You hoist yourself up onto the top of the elevator and begin firing at Mary Jean. [SPEAKER_02]: I, yeah, draw that uses gun and start shooting at her and the first one is with advantage.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_02]: Nat's 20 on one of them. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, double it, 20. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, all right, all right, all right, let's see. [SPEAKER_02]: Second one probably won't hit unless she's got a really low. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, Nat's 20 again. [SPEAKER_02]: Three consecutive net 20s.
[SPEAKER_02]: Wait, okay. [SPEAKER_05]: The universe wants this woman to die. [SPEAKER_05]: Clearly. [SPEAKER_02]: I want this woman to die very badly. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay Does a I would assume an 11 does not hit her, but she's not armored so maybe no, no, okay, great She's not armored as far as you can tell [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, great, fun.
[SPEAKER_02]: So my first one is a Nat 20. [SPEAKER_02]: You're also wearing an armor dress. [SPEAKER_02]: That's true. [SPEAKER_02]: My third one is a Nat 20. [SPEAKER_02]: The middle one doesn't hit. [SPEAKER_02]: So I don't get the damage scale necessarily in that way. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, damn. [SPEAKER_02]: I know, which is a bummer.
[SPEAKER_02]: But I get the two extra D10, and I get an extra one next time. [SPEAKER_02]: So wait, do the D10's double when I crit? [SPEAKER_01]: They would, wouldn't they? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I guess so. [SPEAKER_01]: Yep. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, great. [SPEAKER_02]: So that's 8D10 plus 10 if I'm not mistaken.
[SPEAKER_02]: Get it. [SPEAKER_02]: Solomy. [SPEAKER_01]: You go to shoot Mary Jean and you feel this familiar well of anger. [SPEAKER_01]: Rising in your chest. [SPEAKER_01]: You felt it with daddyus, with the shamblers, with facts, with the guard you killed before falling into the pit. [SPEAKER_01]: The gun feels warm in your hands, and each shot feels like it flows directly from that rage toward the end of the barrier.
[SPEAKER_01]: And you find that over time, [SPEAKER_01]: This gun has developed a bit of a taste. [SPEAKER_01]: You said last episode that Solomon is ready to kill, and you get the feeling that this gun is too. [SPEAKER_01]: And from now on, each shot with this gun will deal an additional plus one damage for every kill you've made with it.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh. [SPEAKER_02]: God, that's ominous, but that's an additional three then, right? [SPEAKER_01]: That's an additional three, and maybe in a minute, four. [SPEAKER_02]: Might be. [SPEAKER_01]: Depending on what this goes. [SPEAKER_02]: So that's actually plus eight, so then that would be plus 16 if I hit twice.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_02]: 65 damage. [SPEAKER_01]: 65 damage. [SPEAKER_01]: Your bullets fly bang bang bang. [SPEAKER_01]: One of them misses. [SPEAKER_01]: And two of them find their target. [SPEAKER_01]: She screams and disappears from sight. [SPEAKER_01]: And in the distance you hear, have fun at the bottom of the elevator shaft bitch.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then the elevator doors. [SPEAKER_01]: Close. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, God, are we falling? [SPEAKER_01]: No, no, there's no falling. [SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no falling. [SPEAKER_01]: The elevator is just stuck. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you can't go up. [SPEAKER_01]: You can't go down. [SPEAKER_01]: You are here.
[SPEAKER_05]: All right. [SPEAKER_05]: We can't do this. [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, let we will kill him later. [SPEAKER_05]: We got to deal with this right now. [SPEAKER_01]: Hey, and you are still in the elevator. [SPEAKER_05]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: As you reach to pull yourself up the trap door. [SPEAKER_01]: as a fourth passenger on this elevator makes themselves known to you.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh shit. [SPEAKER_01]: And they are going to slash you. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh no, not the rave. [SPEAKER_01]: Does a 23 hit? [SPEAKER_05]: You know it does, Casey. [SPEAKER_05]: You know it does. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh lord, okay. [SPEAKER_01]: You are slashed by an unseen sword and as you stagger back, you watch as someone comes out of invisibility, full white armor to wicked looking blades at their sides.
[SPEAKER_01]: As you did not check to see if there was anyone else on this elevator. [SPEAKER_01]: And as the race makes them self-known, they say your death will be delicious. [SPEAKER_01]: That did a seven points of piercing damage, and then 13 points of poison damage. [SPEAKER_01]: And then they're going to attack again.
[SPEAKER_01]: And that's crit. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh no! [SPEAKER_01]: uh... six points of piercing damage twenty two points of poison damage just as they slash down with their blades each of them coded in poison uh... and you are poisoned i will use my reaction to cast absorb elements nice nice nice nice so that will reduce the poison damage by half [SPEAKER_05]: So that makes it what 11 and five, no 11 and seven.
[SPEAKER_01]: You are poisoned until the start of the rathes next turn. [SPEAKER_02]: Hey, hey, didn't you do no kay in there? [SPEAKER_02]: I've been better. [SPEAKER_02]: Miss Bartle, honey, you gotta wait to get us back in there. [SPEAKER_01]: Ballinda tries to open the hatch. [SPEAKER_01]: And says, dammit, it's locked from the inside.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, just pop up on top of the elevator with with the others you Disappeared in a cloud and reappear on the top of the elevator. [SPEAKER_05]: Hi. [SPEAKER_05]: Ow. [SPEAKER_05]: Oh honey. [SPEAKER_05]: All right. [SPEAKER_05]: We'll deal with that later. [SPEAKER_05]: Okay. [SPEAKER_05]: Is there a world where I can cut the [SPEAKER_05]: whatever's holding the elevator up and drop our soldier friend.
[SPEAKER_05]: That would be amazing. [SPEAKER_01]: Let me have you roll. [SPEAKER_01]: I guess it would be an investigation check. [SPEAKER_05]: I'm going to have glitter babies search around with me to give me advantage. [SPEAKER_05]: Okay. [SPEAKER_05]: I can shoot at it too if you want. [SPEAKER_05]: That's only a six.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, you see two ropes and two cables. [SPEAKER_01]: You don't know which ones are holding the elevator up versus which ones move it. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I don't roll about at two. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, go to town. [SPEAKER_01]: Blender will roll as well. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm not that smart, that's a four.
[SPEAKER_02]: We're not doing great. [SPEAKER_01]: Blender rolled a 19. [SPEAKER_02]: They were all okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Just tell us what to hit. [SPEAKER_01]: Blender says the cables, they're stronger than the ropes. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, right. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, so we hit the cables. [SPEAKER_02]: Is that what you're saying?
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, you're not your smart business. [SPEAKER_02]: All right. [SPEAKER_02]: Great. [SPEAKER_02]: Hit it. [SPEAKER_02]: Ooh. [SPEAKER_02]: That is a 28 to hit on the first one. [SPEAKER_05]: Mmm, that hits. [SPEAKER_05]: Everybody grab onto something. [SPEAKER_05]: This floor is about to go away.
[SPEAKER_02]: That is a, oh, uh, 25 to hit. [SPEAKER_01]: That hit it. [SPEAKER_02]: And that is a 14 to hit. [SPEAKER_02]: That hits Okay, that puts me at a plus five next time of five D10 extra next time Yeah, everyone roll a dex check to see if you can cling on to something all right All right Nat 20 eight Okay, oh, no, sorry seven can I kind of rescue Solomon with my net 20?
[SPEAKER_01]: Solomon [SPEAKER_01]: You bang, bang, bang. [SPEAKER_01]: You hit the two cables and one of the ropes. [SPEAKER_02]: All right. [SPEAKER_01]: The cables sever immediately. [SPEAKER_01]: And the elevator for the second time in this campaign begins to plummet. [SPEAKER_01]: This time, just like last time, Solomon, you're still on it, as the your hand-hold slips out of your grasp.
[SPEAKER_02]: Shit. [SPEAKER_01]: Belinda clings to aside and says, Girl Scout, I'm trying. [SPEAKER_01]: Hayden, you definitely cling to the side and because you rolled in that 20, I will let Solomon [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, okay, that's better. [SPEAKER_02]: That is a 25. [SPEAKER_02]: There we go. [SPEAKER_01]: The car begins to plummet and as it does, you see the top.
[SPEAKER_01]: Open up. [SPEAKER_01]: You don't see anybody crawl out and the elevator plummets. [SPEAKER_01]: Hayden, you reach out a hand, solemnly, you take it and [SPEAKER_01]: elevator drops out from under you. [SPEAKER_02]: I got you. [SPEAKER_02]: I got you. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't think I'm ever getting used to that.
[SPEAKER_01]: And as that happens, we cut over to Wyatt. [SPEAKER_02]: Beautiful. [SPEAKER_01]: Wyatt. [SPEAKER_01]: Boyd is mid punch. [SPEAKER_01]: His fist comes swinging down. [SPEAKER_01]: He is going to try to attack you. [SPEAKER_00]: Roll wasm save. [SPEAKER_01]: that is a 12, so that is not gonna do it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Why it is just moving around the best that he can trying to kind of like figuring out where like a flare from the fire pillar happens, so he can kind of maybe blind boy to a little bit. [SPEAKER_01]: The second one, that is a 21 to hit. [SPEAKER_00]: As Boyd gets ready to pull back to clock-wide, [SPEAKER_01]: Warding flare right into his eyes, so he does this attack roll with this advantage, now you little shit Attack misses amazing and his last attack misses thank you flame so all three times boy swings and his [SPEAKER_01]: misses the first time you warding Flair the second one and then he misses the third one.
[SPEAKER_01]: The rings on his fingers with past your face. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, I want to get a little space here. [SPEAKER_00]: So I'm with all the protection I have. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to take I'm just going to run away. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, then the reason for that is that the Guardian of Faith will trigger again if he tries to come for me.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: He is going to try and make an opportunity attack. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Dad, dad doesn't do it. [SPEAKER_00]: And then I will also use cure wounds on the pillar to give boy disadvantage on attacks for the next turn. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Cool.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's my turn. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's, okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Boyd is, he is, I mean, he's going to pursue you. [SPEAKER_01]: He punches. [SPEAKER_01]: That is a 17, that does it. [SPEAKER_00]: So he still takes 10. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_00]: And now my Guardian will take this 10 damage left in it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, your Guardian of Faith is father of Moldin and, and father Moldin and gets a quick swipe in on Boyd as he rushes towards you. [SPEAKER_01]: Thanks, father. [SPEAKER_01]: The father grins. [SPEAKER_01]: May the flame be with you. [SPEAKER_01]: That's not going to do it on his first attack.
[SPEAKER_01]: Look, that's not gonna do it on his second attack. [SPEAKER_01]: Come on. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, no. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: That is a wisdom save of 20. [SPEAKER_01]: That'll do it. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: And then he's gonna roll with this advantage. [SPEAKER_00]: Hehehehe.
[SPEAKER_00]: What a gnarly combo. [SPEAKER_00]: That is going to be a 17 to hit. [SPEAKER_00]: 18 armor class baby. [SPEAKER_00]: Why it lifts his shield, it just boop blocks his fist, punches right into the shield. [SPEAKER_01]: It bounces, and reverberates any snarles at you. [SPEAKER_00]: See what happens when you believe in others, boyd.
[SPEAKER_01]: Boyd chuckles and says, keep dancing, kid. [SPEAKER_01]: I'll kill you eventually. [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't get into the musical and why it runs away a 30 feet from void and we'll take another opportunity to attack. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: He gets through the wisdom's safe. [SPEAKER_01]: That is a 19.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that gets through. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_00]: But I will warning flame the attack, warning flare, the attack. [SPEAKER_01]: Ooh, okay. [SPEAKER_01]: That is a, that is an 18 to hit. [SPEAKER_01]: even with the disadvantage. [SPEAKER_01]: It was gonna be in that 20. [SPEAKER_01]: But instead it was 18.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'll take the 18, I'll take the 18 there. [SPEAKER_01]: That is going to be 21 points of bludgeoning damage. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to cast Sacred Flame on Boyd, so I need a deck save from Boyd. [SPEAKER_00]: That's in that 20. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, that was a waste of them.
[SPEAKER_00]: Now, my sanctuary drops. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, okay. [SPEAKER_00]: But I will also cast Shield of Faith on myself as a shimmering like a heat shimmer envelopes why it giving him plus two AC. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, okay. [SPEAKER_00]: And that is my turn. [SPEAKER_01]: On Boyd's turn, he chuckles.
[SPEAKER_01]: Alright kid, you know what, I see how this is gonna go. [SPEAKER_01]: You're just gonna keep rolling up shields and I'm just gonna keep punching ya and it's gonna be a slow, inevitable death. [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm gonna do this instead. [SPEAKER_01]: And then he throws both hands at the flame and you see it arc out of the ground surging wildly and he begins to draw in that power.
[SPEAKER_01]: No! [SPEAKER_01]: As he does that, the ground beneath you begins to rumble. [SPEAKER_01]: Dust shakes from the ceiling and you hear deep, [SPEAKER_01]: fracturing sounds. [SPEAKER_01]: You look up to see a widening rift cracking up and up and up. [SPEAKER_01]: It seems as if the entirety of this place is splitting down the middle.
[SPEAKER_01]: And as you watch, boy raises his hands into the air like a manic conductor and the ground on which you both stand rockets upward. [SPEAKER_01]: Make a strength save to keep from being thrown to the floor. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, that's a seven. [SPEAKER_01]: That's a seven.
[SPEAKER_01]: You slam into the ground, flat on your back, and watch as the levels of this place raise past you. [SPEAKER_01]: And as they do, you hear boys cracking and chuckling laugh. [SPEAKER_01]: echoing through the chambers as you are fast approaching the arena above. [SPEAKER_01]: What a rena casey and that is a great question.
[SPEAKER_01]: And with that, Max, can you bring Robin and Rowan back in, please? [SPEAKER_00]: Oh no! [SPEAKER_00]: Oh no! [SPEAKER_01]: Salmon Hayden. [SPEAKER_01]: You all watch as the elevator plummets into the distance below, and Belinda says, well, I guess we need to start climbing. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, so, and you all start to climb.
[SPEAKER_01]: And as you do, you hear the, uh, of the elevator hitting the bottom of the shaft. [SPEAKER_01]: And then you hear a weird noise. [SPEAKER_01]: a deep, deep, rumbling noise. [SPEAKER_01]: The walls begin to shake. [SPEAKER_01]: And you hear the sound of shattering rocks and metal, and you look down to see the elevator rising again.
[SPEAKER_01]: Not of its own accord, but because the floor below it is rising up the elevator shaft. [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, this cannot be good. [SPEAKER_05]: I'm fast to climb faster. [SPEAKER_01]: I need you all to make acrobatics checks to climb up. [SPEAKER_02]: All right. [SPEAKER_02]: That's a four.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I'm not going to do well on decks checks, like ever, you can make it an athletics check to climb and I can have proficiency, but... You know what, I will take an athletics check because you are pulling yourself up. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, this is still not good because I rolled a three on this eye, so that's going to be a seven.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, no, sorry, I didn't eight. [SPEAKER_02]: Excuse me, I need eight. [SPEAKER_01]: Fifteen for Hayden. [SPEAKER_01]: Hayden, you make it up pretty far up the shaft. [SPEAKER_01]: Solome the elevator is rising fast, and soon enough, it comes up underneath you and scoops you up. [SPEAKER_01]: And you are standing back on the elevator again.
[SPEAKER_01]: However, it is moving so fast that it's gonna hit the top of the shaft really quick. [SPEAKER_02]: Ooh, okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Hayden, you make it to the doors. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, yeah, I prime open and swing out. [SPEAKER_02]: Can I just prepare to jump? [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, I'll just prepare to jump at the right second.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'll get ready to catch. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, Belinda makes it out as well. [SPEAKER_01]: Belinda and Hayden, you stand there. [SPEAKER_01]: At the elevator door, Solomon, you prepare an action, which means I will give you advantage. [SPEAKER_02]: All right. [SPEAKER_01]: On this? [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: Roll an athletics check. [SPEAKER_02]: No, that's better. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, thank God it was with advantage because one of those was a one. [SPEAKER_02]: Ooh, that is a 21. [SPEAKER_01]: you feel your foot misstep for a moment. [SPEAKER_01]: Instead of jumping, you steady yourself again and then throw yourself through the doors.
[SPEAKER_01]: Hayden and Belinda both there to steady you as you come down onto solid land. [SPEAKER_01]: The elevator slams into the top of the shaft and crumples into it. [SPEAKER_02]: Solve my lands on top of Belinda. [SPEAKER_01]: But Linda looks at you goes, hey girl, scat. [SPEAKER_02]: Howdy, I didn't, sorry.
[SPEAKER_02]: And I gotta pick myself up, pick her up, get back to our feet. [SPEAKER_01]: Ha ha ha. [SPEAKER_01]: And this is the part where I would bring Wyatt back in. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: So, what I'm gonna do, now, we're just gonna call everyone back in. [SPEAKER_05]: Hello, I missed you.
[SPEAKER_01]: You all stumble away from the elevator. [SPEAKER_01]: to find that the landscape of this place has changed. [SPEAKER_01]: What you were standing in before was a contained room. [SPEAKER_01]: It is now open to the sky above. [SPEAKER_01]: You look out and see the arena. [SPEAKER_01]: The entire roof of this place is gone.
[SPEAKER_01]: You see a widening rift has cracked open the arena, and between it has risen another floor. [SPEAKER_01]: And on that floor, you see a screaming hobgoblin child on his back and a leathery fiery bug bear man. [SPEAKER_01]: beginning to ascend into the sky over him. [SPEAKER_01]: You see a jet of flame arcing up from the middle of the arena of this new arena floor.
[SPEAKER_01]: And as you watch, you see the bug bear man turn cast both of his hands on the flame and more of it. [SPEAKER_01]: Rise this out of the ground and into his hands, you hear him. [SPEAKER_01]: And that is where we'll pick up next time. [SPEAKER_03]: Go ahead. [UNKNOWN]: Okay. [SPEAKER_05]: Thanks so much for listening to another episode of May Chan High Five, the Badlands.
