[SPEAKER_06]: Hello, and welcome to May Chant High Five, your third favorite actual play podcast. [SPEAKER_06]: I'm Max Weinberg, my pronouns are he, him, and I'm joined by Ron McStay. [SPEAKER_02]: Howdy, I'm Ron McStay, my pronouns are they, then. [SPEAKER_06]: Today we're doing something a little different.
[SPEAKER_06]: It's gonna be a couple quick hit interviews with two actual play all stars about their process for creating characters and those characters' voices. [SPEAKER_06]: First up, you know them is one of the amazing hosts of three black halflings. [SPEAKER_06]: They've voiced Crystal on puppy guard the animated series and Diane Ramsey on the award-winning audio drama Partial Vale, but that's certainly not all, because they can also be found rolling dice in your favorite actual plays like Wayward, Aetumnal, and a haunting beloved.
[SPEAKER_06]: Candace, the Magnificent, thank you so much for joining us today. [SPEAKER_06]: How's it going? [SPEAKER_10]: Have a good day. [SPEAKER_06]: That's good. [SPEAKER_10]: Best part, highlight. [SPEAKER_10]: I think the best part was getting, so I was let down gently from a job today. [SPEAKER_10]: Oh, okay.
[SPEAKER_10]: I was, I was like, man, that really sucks. [SPEAKER_10]: But it was a letting down because they wanted a different voice print. [SPEAKER_10]: which speaks more to them not knowing what they want and less it being my fault. [SPEAKER_10]: And because they had cast me in three roles and only intended on giving me two, they gave me extra money instead of just paying me for the two parts that I did.
[SPEAKER_10]: And then they told me that they had a role for me in the upcoming season so that there would be more work. [SPEAKER_10]: That's great. [SPEAKER_10]: So I was like, that ended up being pretty solid, actually. [SPEAKER_10]: Good. [SPEAKER_10]: That's worse. [SPEAKER_02]: It's a close-up or window situation for sure.
[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_10]: It was a weird situation because I'm not going to mention the, the, the, the, [SPEAKER_10]: the podcast, the audio drama is not right. [SPEAKER_10]: It is an audio drama, but I auditioned for several characters. [SPEAKER_10]: And then I heard their trailer, which was one of the sides for the grandmother character.
[SPEAKER_10]: And because my voice is deeper, a lot of people associate that with age. [SPEAKER_10]: So I get a lot of, like, mom and grandmother roles. [SPEAKER_10]: So I was like, okay, you know, maybe I should audition for this. [SPEAKER_10]: So I auditioned for it, and I gave my reading, and it was very specific.
[SPEAKER_10]: Like my intonation, my articulation, the stress and emphasis that I put on different words, because it was kind of like a night before Christmas sort of vibe to the side. [SPEAKER_10]: And I listened to the trailer, and the actor sounds like an actual grandma, which was cool. [SPEAKER_10]: But she had the exact same cadence, and I was like, huh?
[SPEAKER_10]: Okay, well, I can't prove it, but I'm pretty sure you took my audio file and gave it to this old lady and told her to read it like that because the chance of someone coming back with the exact same intonation like line by line. [SPEAKER_10]: I played it for my mom because my mom doesn't really know anything about audio other than being, you know, someone who consumes and she listened to it and was like, [SPEAKER_10]: Oh, no, that's the same thing.
[SPEAKER_10]: Did you listen to this lady's performance? [SPEAKER_02]: And I was like, no, I was like, no. [SPEAKER_10]: Opposite, sure, yeah, I was trying that for the reverse sexy. [SPEAKER_10]: That you would think I would copy off of this old lady. [SPEAKER_10]: Wow. [SPEAKER_06]: That's wild. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, so you don't know what you don't know is that we're getting all of this audio from you so that we can then copy, please feel free.
[SPEAKER_02]: On our new interview show. [SPEAKER_10]: Oh, my God. [SPEAKER_10]: The invitation is the best form of flattery. [SPEAKER_10]: It's fine. [SPEAKER_06]: We're just going to find a bunch of other voice actors to do you as it is when we just send your audio to them. [SPEAKER_10]: It's like it's going to be sent into me and I can be filled with Glee and Mary meant then I'm fine with it.
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_06]: Um, but I actually think that that's a great kind of segue into kind of the first question, which is kind of just asking about your character creation process for actual play and playing TTRPGs in general and how kind of the character's voice has developed alongside that you, you know, figure out a voice first and then build the character around that.
[SPEAKER_06]: Do you? [SPEAKER_06]: get the character and figure out what parts of that fit the voice, you know, what kind of, what's that like for you? [SPEAKER_10]: I'm very much a vibes-based character designer. [SPEAKER_10]: I find out what the brief is. [SPEAKER_10]: So for example, for an upcoming, am I allowed to talk about the upcoming actual play?
[SPEAKER_02]: I think as a little treat, we can be like, for an upcoming secret Maychan project or something like that. [SPEAKER_02]: We can tease it. [SPEAKER_10]: So for an upcoming secret Maychan project that is still not named, I'm not gonna go too in depth. [SPEAKER_10]: But when I heard about what the brief was going to be because of the setting, I had a limited number of options to choose from.
[SPEAKER_10]: It's pretty clear that there were things I could do and things I couldn't do. [SPEAKER_10]: There are some people who have a hard time, they feel, quote, unquote, boxed in when they get those kinds of details. [SPEAKER_10]: But for me, it's, it narrows my focus. [SPEAKER_10]: It gives me something more to kind of play with rather than feeling limiting, because I feel limited by too many options.
[SPEAKER_10]: I get to like, I'm like, I don't know what you want. [SPEAKER_10]: The choice paralysis is crazy. [SPEAKER_10]: It was really hard the first time I ever played D&D because I was like, [SPEAKER_10]: There's like 40 things. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, there's so many things you do. [SPEAKER_10]: I don't know.
[SPEAKER_10]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_10]: Eric Okra. [SPEAKER_10]: Okay. [SPEAKER_10]: What kind of murder you? [SPEAKER_10]: Oh fuck. [SPEAKER_02]: There's a million of those. [UNKNOWN]: I don't know. [UNKNOWN]: It's like, I don't know. [SPEAKER_10]: How about this? [SPEAKER_10]: Half elf done. [SPEAKER_10]: Okay, well, there's like seven art listen.
[SPEAKER_10]: I swear to God that we're always playing humans. [SPEAKER_10]: That I play humans every fucking die. [SPEAKER_10]: Easy, right? [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_10]: So, yeah, I think that for me, I start with the brief. [SPEAKER_10]: And I want to know what the vibe is going to be. [SPEAKER_10]: I also tend to be a player that loves picking last, especially for classes and things like that.
[SPEAKER_10]: Because I want to know where I can kind of boost. [SPEAKER_10]: the team. [SPEAKER_10]: It doesn't always work because there's almost always someone else that is more established with that group that likes going last. [SPEAKER_10]: And I never want to be the person that's like, no, I don't want to.
[SPEAKER_10]: So then I have to pick. [SPEAKER_10]: But I think I like kind of coming up with the character in the moment and then the voice comes after. [SPEAKER_10]: I, with the character that I'm making for Maychan, that character [SPEAKER_10]: creature type came first, right? [SPEAKER_10]: So the creature type I was like, okay, well, I have a selection to choose from.
[SPEAKER_10]: I kind of thought up something. [SPEAKER_10]: I was like, what kind of creature would you find in this setting? [SPEAKER_10]: And then I was like, oh, here's a loophole that might open up a range of creatures that are outside of what you would normally find in this setting. [SPEAKER_10]: So I was like, okay, there's my way in.
[SPEAKER_10]: Okay, I found this creature. [SPEAKER_10]: What could be cool about this creature? [SPEAKER_10]: Okay. [SPEAKER_10]: Well, the setting tells me that there are different locations and areas within this larger kind of realm. [SPEAKER_10]: And I have an intimate familiarity with part of this realm having like experienced it myself.
[SPEAKER_10]: So I was like, okay, well, that's that's step two. [SPEAKER_10]: That is going to dictate how this character looks. [SPEAKER_10]: Maybe not acts, but how they look. [SPEAKER_10]: And then I was like, okay, well, what kind of class do I want to be? [SPEAKER_10]: And so I thought about those two things, and I was like, okay, well, if the characters look is X because of where they're from, and if the characters, [SPEAKER_10]: ancestry is why because of technically where they lived, then what would make the most sense to synergize and synthesize those two things together, and that's how I chose the class.
[SPEAKER_10]: I actually switched classes, Rowan, you were so kind as to send me a new class. [SPEAKER_10]: Then I was like, oh yeah, look at that. [SPEAKER_10]: Because initially I had something else in mind that was it was honestly pushing my own [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah, I think you can elaborate a little bit on a class, I think, okay, like in terms of general vibe cool.
[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, so I knew that I wanted to be a character that was going to be a magic user and I knew they needed to be richy and first I was like really drawn to the sorcerer equivalent in the system. [SPEAKER_10]: because I was like, well, that's the closest thing I can get to which he, like a wizard is more like I know people use witch and wizard like interchangeably, but they're very different things to me like a wizard is like Merlin and a witch is like Morgan Lafe and those are not the same those different very different so I was like, okay, well I want to be witchy [SPEAKER_10]: Sorcerer is pretty richy I play a sorcerer in city the black rose, right?
[SPEAKER_10]: I was like okay sorcerer, but then Rowan was like, yeah, but have you met this hexbinder class? [SPEAKER_10]: And I was like, no, I have not had no, that was it. [SPEAKER_10]: That was it. [SPEAKER_10]: I was like hedgewitch, yes. [SPEAKER_10]: That is the vibe I'm looking for. [SPEAKER_10]: But originally, I was going to be a sorcerer that had like swarms of insects that were going to terrify me and keep me up at night.
[SPEAKER_10]: I was very excited for it, but I knew that eventually I would gross myself out. [SPEAKER_10]: Um, now I don't have to do that. [SPEAKER_10]: Which is lovely. [SPEAKER_02]: But there's kind of nothing like, get it, like, playing something that plays into one of your own, like, fears or gross outs because I think no one can describe that anxiety quite like someone who feels it.
[SPEAKER_06]: Rowling to get to me in a game once. [SPEAKER_02]: I did, I did, I have really bad recurring nightmares. [SPEAKER_02]: And I picked like pieces of each of them. [SPEAKER_02]: They're like terrible. [SPEAKER_02]: And I picked pieces of each of them and gave them to the players and they did not.
[SPEAKER_06]: It was, I literally said out loud, I had signed up for this. [SPEAKER_10]: That's how you know you're doing a good job though. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_10]: That's what you know. [SPEAKER_10]: It's good. [SPEAKER_10]: I think like the voice of that character definitely came from knowing that I wanted to be a witchy character and especially after talking myself out of the bug thing, I was like, okay, well, you got to be mysterious.
[SPEAKER_10]: So then I was like, [SPEAKER_10]: She should probably sound wise, also mysterious because of where she's from. [SPEAKER_10]: And then I start to think about Stevie Nix because like, who doesn't just sit around and think about Stevie Nix? [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, that is, yeah, how to. [SPEAKER_10]: We found the title.
[SPEAKER_10]: What about English Stevie Nix? [SPEAKER_07]: Yes. [SPEAKER_02]: And here we are. [SPEAKER_02]: Can you give us a little sample of this character's voice? [SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_07]: I won't give her name yet, because I'm still working on it, but she sounds purposely like this.
[SPEAKER_07]: Oh. [SPEAKER_07]: She speaks with a little bit of a lute and a pause because of the ancestry she has. [SPEAKER_07]: But very wise and very purposeful. [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_07]: I love her. [SPEAKER_07]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_07]: It's amazing. [SPEAKER_10]: I can't wait for everyone to meet her.
[SPEAKER_10]: She's so like, I don't know, she's a good mood. [SPEAKER_10]: She's a good vibe. [SPEAKER_06]: I'm so excited to listen to this when it comes out. [SPEAKER_06]: I'm not really a little hands-off, so that's it. [SPEAKER_06]: It's very very excited to hear it. [SPEAKER_02]: Listen to this, are getting like the first announcement that it's happening.
[SPEAKER_02]: So, hey, Chuck, I'm upcoming stuff on May 10, I've to be [SPEAKER_10]: uh the last episode that we recorded literally ended with everyone clutching their face and body and sadly screaming into the microphone with the light and then uh abject horror when they realized who they're going to be up against next session.
[SPEAKER_10]: And that's interesting here like [SPEAKER_10]: every episode ends like that. [SPEAKER_10]: I think this one is the worst one because it's so exciting for me above table and it's so horrible at the table. [SPEAKER_10]: Like table level it's like well shit but above table it's like well this is the coolest thing that's ever happened to me.
[SPEAKER_10]: When you hear it you'll know. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: You too will clutch your face. [SPEAKER_02]: Again, as I guess, so after you've built these lovely gorgeous character voices, I think the other question is across time, you know, like a multi episode campaign of maybe we record this in one month and then three months later we record the next episode.
[SPEAKER_02]: How do you keep that voice consistent over time? [SPEAKER_02]: Is there something that you do to kind of drop into it? [SPEAKER_02]: Do you have recurring phrases? [SPEAKER_02]: Do you have, you know, do you listen back to yourself? [SPEAKER_02]: How do you stay? [SPEAKER_02]: consistent over time with character voices, it's actually a combination of those things.
[SPEAKER_10]: I always try to remember to do a little voice note recording like a little voice memo in my phone. [SPEAKER_10]: So that way it's like just on hand and I'm searching for it. [SPEAKER_10]: And I'll just do like a 10 second message to myself. [SPEAKER_10]: as the character, so then I remember, yeah, so that I like remember who they are and how they sound and maybe even like, it usually I'll try to, the little message will be about something that the character feels strongly about or like do's and don'ts or, you know, likes dislikes or something like that, so that I can kind of immerse myself and then, so right before the session, [SPEAKER_10]: My vocal stim, I guess, is like a term or a greeting of some kind.
[SPEAKER_10]: So for example, the character that I just previewed to y'all, it's funny because the [SPEAKER_10]: the greeting that I use to warm up is one to your character, Rowan, because they have such a close relationship. [SPEAKER_10]: And I feel like if I use the greeting to your character, that starts her in her very like soft place, because I feel like going into the game, I didn't know that that softness was going to come.
[SPEAKER_10]: Like I knew that she was capable of it, but I didn't know [SPEAKER_10]: are RP. [SPEAKER_10]: So the vocal audio note that I left myself doesn't include any of that softness. [SPEAKER_10]: It's more like the telling a tale or the mystery or the scary, right? [SPEAKER_10]: Like when she gets intense or when they're like, you know, like they're trying to be frightening or whatever, right?
[SPEAKER_10]: It's not really the soft part. [SPEAKER_10]: So that's the one part that I don't have. [SPEAKER_10]: So I listen to [SPEAKER_07]: Oh, don't worry. [SPEAKER_07]: Insert voice here. [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_07]: Be all right. [SPEAKER_10]: Right. [SPEAKER_10]: And then I come back into it.
[SPEAKER_10]: And I'm like, I'm ready. [SPEAKER_10]: Here we go. [SPEAKER_02]: It's very sweet. [SPEAKER_02]: I feel so loved by this character. [SPEAKER_02]: It's it's so nice. [SPEAKER_02]: Like their voices such a warm hug on the character voice. [SPEAKER_02]: It's such a, it's such a delight. [SPEAKER_02]: Voice actors are magic.
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, so the other person that we're talking with She is on a video game that I play a lot of and so hearing her voice. [SPEAKER_06]: I met her at a show and hearing her voice come out of a person on an impromptu like [SPEAKER_06]: words like the script was such a wild conversation. [SPEAKER_06]: I met Jeremy once I had the same reaction.
[SPEAKER_06]: I was just like Jeremy Cobb from three like halflings and I was like hearing your voice to feed in front of me. [SPEAKER_06]: It's just a wild experience. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, yeah. [SPEAKER_10]: When I went to Jencon last year is the first time ever had gone to Jencon. [SPEAKER_10]: And I didn't realize that there would be voice actors there, right?
[SPEAKER_10]: And I'm walking the con. [SPEAKER_10]: I had panels every single day except for the last day. [SPEAKER_10]: And it was Sunday and there were a billion people in there. [SPEAKER_10]: And I was like, this is the worst things ever happen to me. [SPEAKER_10]: I'm hating every second of this.
[SPEAKER_10]: There aren't too many people here. [SPEAKER_10]: And in 2019, this would have still been too many people. [SPEAKER_10]: In 2024, this is entirely too many people, dislike, strong dislike. [SPEAKER_10]: So I'm like, [SPEAKER_10]: In this crowd of people and there's an area that's like relatively empty that people are kind of just milling about because there's nobody's no one selling anything there And I was like, oh god, so I kind of turned around this corner to like a scape and I am confronted with a booth and I see Kiki Mura [SPEAKER_10]: from the girl house.
[SPEAKER_07]: And I'm like the owl house. [SPEAKER_10]: So much love the owl house. [SPEAKER_10]: The owl house is so good. [SPEAKER_10]: Oh my god. [SPEAKER_10]: So I'm like, why am I just watching it? [SPEAKER_02]: It's so good. [SPEAKER_10]: It is so outstanding. [SPEAKER_10]: You are going to love it.
[SPEAKER_10]: It is going to pluck every heart string that you have. [SPEAKER_10]: It is going to just give you all of the fields that you could possibly have just shove them right into your chest. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_07]: Just so good. [SPEAKER_10]: So I see Kiki Mora and I'm like, oh my god, are you selling me Kiki Mora stuff?
[SPEAKER_10]: I don't have any money because it's the end of this long ass weekend. [SPEAKER_10]: But I will buy whatever Kiki Mora you have. [SPEAKER_10]: Hello, what is this right now? [SPEAKER_10]: And then I see these other characters and I'm like, what? [SPEAKER_10]: And then I see mellowly and I look down and Kiki Mora is there, but it's mellowly and I'm like, [SPEAKER_10]: What?
[SPEAKER_10]: That's wild. [SPEAKER_10]: So I'm going to stand in front of her booth and she's like seeing me see her and she's like hello and I'm like And I had just like met Matthew Lord in a very embarrassing fashion that I will never live down or forgive myself for. [SPEAKER_10]: Oh, and that was really hard because I have love Matthew the Lord since I was like eight years old.
[SPEAKER_10]: He's so fun. [SPEAKER_10]: He is wonderful. [SPEAKER_10]: I've had a very deep crush on the man for a very long time. [SPEAKER_10]: Wow. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, Scooby-Doo was one of those bisexual awakening moments like the mummy where you're like, yeah, yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, okay. [SPEAKER_10]: All right, so everybody is good.
[SPEAKER_02]: Cool. [SPEAKER_02]: Anyone except Fred, I think, is great in that show. [SPEAKER_10]: What, what, see, that's how I knew because I'd been a Scooby-Doo fan before that and was never interested in Fred and then I was like, Freddie Prince Jr. me out. [SPEAKER_10]: Um, so that's, you know, valid.
[SPEAKER_10]: I don't know, valid. [SPEAKER_10]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_10]: Um, how hard time. [SPEAKER_10]: So I, I, I, I bond. [SPEAKER_10]: I beefed it. [SPEAKER_10]: I mean, I was so sorry. [SPEAKER_10]: I did not introduce myself at all. [SPEAKER_10]: I did not ask him about any of the things that I'd rehearsed asking him about for the past 20 years.
[SPEAKER_10]: Do you just get stuck? [SPEAKER_10]: I just, I went, God, his scream is really good. [SPEAKER_10]: I love scream. [SPEAKER_10]: I watched him and I was yelling, I turned out to get. [SPEAKER_10]: And he was like, eating chipotle. [SPEAKER_10]: And he was like, yeah, cool. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, you're fine, right?
[SPEAKER_05]: Thanks. [SPEAKER_05]: I'm just like, I'm mostly okay. [SPEAKER_05]: I'm pretty good person. [SPEAKER_10]: So you're really good, and you know, Shaggy, right? [SPEAKER_10]: Scooby-Doo, am I right? [SPEAKER_10]: He's good. [SPEAKER_10]: He's right. [SPEAKER_10]: He's like, you're great. [SPEAKER_10]: You're really good.
[SPEAKER_10]: And he's like, bro, bro, bro, bro, bro, bro. [SPEAKER_10]: I'm gonna eat my food now. [SPEAKER_10]: I'm like, yeah, you do that. [SPEAKER_10]: I like Chipotle as well. [SPEAKER_10]: And then I left, and then I went, wow. [SPEAKER_10]: Fuck, and it's, what, oh my God. [SPEAKER_10]: Oh my God, for years, for years, you've been waiting for this moment.
[SPEAKER_10]: You wanted to talk to him about his lawnrower SVU episode because no one ever asked him about that, but you put a vast him about that. [SPEAKER_05]: And you didn't, you didn't. [SPEAKER_10]: You didn't tell him about your wallet. [SPEAKER_10]: Oh my God, oh, it's terrible. [SPEAKER_10]: It was horrible.
[SPEAKER_10]: He had lettuce coming out of his mouth. [SPEAKER_10]: I was like, this is the worst ones ever happened to me. [SPEAKER_10]: Um, so I was fleeing from that. [SPEAKER_10]: I was running away with my tail between my legs and I didn't know what to do. [SPEAKER_10]: And then Kiki Mora, who like the voice actor, Melalee, is beautiful.
[SPEAKER_10]: So I'm just like looking at this beautiful voice actor and I'm like Kiki Mora. [SPEAKER_10]: And then she goes, hello, but it's Kiki Mora and I was like, Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa [SPEAKER_10]: Oh, yeah, I don't know what to do.
[SPEAKER_10]: And she was like, oh, that was so great. [SPEAKER_10]: I'm so glad you recognized me as Kiki Moore. [SPEAKER_10]: That's so wonderful. [SPEAKER_10]: And I was like, I'm a voice actor too. [SPEAKER_10]: And then I did, like, my second most embarrassing introduction of the day where I was like, my team of voice acting as well.
[SPEAKER_10]: And I like it. [SPEAKER_10]: And it's fun. [SPEAKER_10]: And you're really good. [SPEAKER_10]: And how did you get into it? [SPEAKER_10]: That's pretty awesome. [SPEAKER_10]: You're a lot of characters. [SPEAKER_10]: That's great. [SPEAKER_10]: So it was like, you should keep up the good work.
[SPEAKER_10]: And I was like, yeah, that's not what I was like. [SPEAKER_10]: you need to go and not talk to anyone else. [SPEAKER_10]: Jeremy and I were there together because he's like I've been to packs before. [SPEAKER_10]: Come on out. [SPEAKER_10]: We'll talk about the show, right? [SPEAKER_10]: You can help me find a system for our next thing.
[SPEAKER_10]: Maybe you know if you would get cast in the next thing. [SPEAKER_10]: That was before I was a half like oh yeah. [SPEAKER_10]: So I was like yeah, let's do it. [SPEAKER_10]: I like walked away from both experiences and he was like [SPEAKER_10]: I think that went, well, I'm like, don't you fucking run me.
[SPEAKER_02]: Don't tell me that. [SPEAKER_10]: She's not on me with that. [SPEAKER_10]: I know it was trash. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, get it. [SPEAKER_02]: No it. [SPEAKER_02]: It was a bit of a mess. [SPEAKER_02]: You feel any better whatsoever. [SPEAKER_02]: I met Connie from Transplanner by flushing my glasses down the toilet in front of them.
[SPEAKER_10]: Oh my god. [SPEAKER_10]: So flush the glasses because you're in front of them because I couldn't understand that. [SPEAKER_02]: I wasn't in other stall at a web festival and I flush my glasses down the toilet and I said shit. [SPEAKER_02]: And I heard from the next all over are you okay?
[SPEAKER_02]: And I walked out and told Connie, I flush my glasses down the toilet. [SPEAKER_02]: Hi, I'm Rowan. [SPEAKER_02]: I also do actual play. [SPEAKER_10]: That doesn't make me feel better, because Connie is great. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's what I had a couple of concerts. [SPEAKER_10]: So yeah, you know, Connie's wonderful.
[SPEAKER_10]: The first time I met Connie, I didn't know what to say, so I just was quiet. [SPEAKER_02]: I didn't have that, I was not burdened with that experience. [SPEAKER_10]: That's good, that's good. [SPEAKER_10]: I feel like sacrifice in my glasses to make a good impression in front of Connie Chang is probably the best thing I could have done.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it was $400, but we figured it out. [SPEAKER_02]: I feel that. [SPEAKER_02]: I feel like I'm not gonna be able to make a great ticket. [UNKNOWN]: Okay. [SPEAKER_02]: And Connie Chumler remember you for the rest of his life. [SPEAKER_02]: So literally literally I say we say hi every time we see each other now So That's that'll do it [SPEAKER_06]: Well, I don't have a good segue for this.
[SPEAKER_06]: Would you be up for playing like this little game where we give you kind of a short character description and then on the spot you make up a character voice based on that information? [SPEAKER_10]: Oh, hell yeah, that sounds awesome. [SPEAKER_06]: So we asked some of our people on our Discord for just kind of quick character descriptions of like name, age, lineage, and general vibe.
[SPEAKER_06]: And so the first one we have is Crimson Crown, gave us eight of the voice, eight of the voice, who is 27, is a changeling, mostly in an anthra jackal form. [SPEAKER_06]: And the vibe is a gentle person thief that tends to be a Robin Hood type figure, will flirt with anyone and everything.
[SPEAKER_10]: I feel like this changeling would have a voice that's probably very smooth and very adaptable to different situations. [SPEAKER_10]: I imagine that they would probably change the dialect or the accent depending on who they were speaking to. [SPEAKER_10]: And I think if they're a gentleman thief, I'd probably start a gentle person thief, a gentle them thief.
[SPEAKER_10]: I'd probably start [SPEAKER_07]: with a more seductive accent that is more of a British RP. [SPEAKER_07]: But when they're caught, they don't want to deal with your bullshit. [SPEAKER_07]: Get out of here for me! [SPEAKER_07]: What do you want to say? [SPEAKER_10]: No, go somewhere else!
[SPEAKER_10]: But then when I think they are trying to get their way and they're giving like a rousing speech, they might come back down into that OP again, but give something that's inspiring and hopeful and big. [SPEAKER_06]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_06]: I love this. [SPEAKER_06]: You could just do this all day.
[SPEAKER_06]: That's just fun. [SPEAKER_06]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_06]: Next comes from Jay. [SPEAKER_06]: The name of this person is carrot cake. [SPEAKER_06]: Oh. [SPEAKER_06]: Is 32 is a goblin. [SPEAKER_06]: And the vibe is super chill guy. [SPEAKER_06]: Great at mixing drinks. [SPEAKER_06]: But if you bring up carrots or carrot cake, they become very passive-aggressive.
[SPEAKER_08]: Hmm. [SPEAKER_08]: I think like more of a squeaky voice, yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: But laid back. [SPEAKER_08]: I think maybe like really long long tones were like, they just are chill and they don't wanna get excited. [SPEAKER_08]: Because it's not worth it, man. [SPEAKER_08]: We're only here for so many years before we all turn to dust.
[SPEAKER_08]: Hey, do you have any character? [SPEAKER_08]: Excuse me, you know. [SPEAKER_08]: I think it's pretty rude when people bring things up that they know you're sensitive about. [SPEAKER_08]: I'm not talking about people's foreheads today, Am I? [SPEAKER_08]: No. [SPEAKER_08]: I'm not talking about people's general is that doing excellence or miserableness today, Am I?
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh God, that's extra funny because we've joked about this podcast. [SPEAKER_02]: We can call it Mage hand five head because we all have been asked for same I fit in here. [SPEAKER_06]: My dad, the other day we were getting dinner and he literally said you have such a big forehead. [SPEAKER_10]: God, my mom said and this is true.
[SPEAKER_10]: It's because there's lots of brains inside and I will smile. [SPEAKER_10]: I've been died by that. [SPEAKER_10]: That's so good. [SPEAKER_10]: Some of the most beautiful people in the world have large foreheads. [SPEAKER_10]: Thank you very much. [SPEAKER_10]: And also, we're here. [SPEAKER_06]: And for the last one, Rowan, I think we really fun to do a character from the Badlands, which is our main form campaign that we're doing.
[SPEAKER_06]: Rowan, if you have a one you think that would be particularly fun. [SPEAKER_02]: So now I'm trying I'm trying to think if I want to try to go like to the type that you've been playing to or against the type that you've been playing to, whatever delights you, let's do against I think because I think I know you could do court war and I think that would be the same as a lot of similar to a lot of the other things you brought to the table, I'm going to give you final amount of fiddle battle.
[SPEAKER_02]: Woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo [SPEAKER_02]: She's a friend.
[SPEAKER_02]: She's on the right side of history, but she will kill everyone. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay. [SPEAKER_10]: With a pickaxe. [SPEAKER_10]: Okay, if I lemme know, a dwergar who lives alone. [SPEAKER_10]: I feel like she'd have a gravelly voice. [SPEAKER_09]: Okay. [SPEAKER_09]: You know, carpet, you would not have been best friends for a long time.
[SPEAKER_09]: No one comes down here to see me, and no one comes down here to see you, but you see me, and I see you. [SPEAKER_09]: So the two of us, we don't need anybody else with that knocking at the door. [SPEAKER_09]: Come in if you're brave enough, I got a pickaxe, I got a pickaxe, and it's got your fucking eyeballs on it.
[SPEAKER_02]: This is so good, this is, it's been really fun to do the Badlands ones because we really got some like a U-takes on some of these characters. [SPEAKER_05]: That's so good. [SPEAKER_02]: What does she sound like in your world? [SPEAKER_02]: I'll have to send you a clip because it's, it's crazy, but only case you can do it.
[SPEAKER_06]: Thank you so much. [SPEAKER_06]: I guess we'll just wrap this one up here. [SPEAKER_06]: It's, you know, it's quick hits. [SPEAKER_06]: We could talk about this for so much longer and hopefully, maybe we will at some point if people like this and, but yeah, do you have anything you would like to plug?
[SPEAKER_06]: Anything coming up or anything, it's coming out in about a week. [SPEAKER_10]: So yeah, so things are gonna be pretty quiet for December. [SPEAKER_10]: So instead of plug and new stuff, I'm just gonna tell you to go look at my old stuff. [SPEAKER_10]: Um, please check out a haunting beloved.
[SPEAKER_10]: It just won some awards at New Zealand Web Fest. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_10]: It isn't all disabled production of Bluebeard's Bride by Numinous Productions. [SPEAKER_10]: I'm very proud of that. [SPEAKER_10]: I play the Fatal. [SPEAKER_10]: Uh, please check out PummyGuard over on studio.
[SPEAKER_10]: Sama, S-A-M-A. [SPEAKER_10]: That is an indie animation studio that I play, this dog Crystal, it is a D&D inspired animated series. [SPEAKER_10]: Also, take a look at PuppyHin, P-O-P-P-I-H-I-N. She has a brand new show called The Ebony Witch, that's coming out if you like Studio Ghibli, Art Style, and you like kind of old school Disney Princess, like sleeping beauty, sort of vibes.
[SPEAKER_10]: Definitely check out The Ebony Witch. [SPEAKER_10]: for that. [SPEAKER_10]: You can see the preview of it on YouTube and please listen to three black Catholics. [SPEAKER_10]: We are a black led and queer led podcast that is all about intersectionality in the nerd space TGRPGs. [SPEAKER_10]: We have a couple of really fantastic guests that we just had on including Kelly Lindy-Angelo, Oscar Montoya from Dropout in Dimension 20 and Samantha Bayart, who is the voice [SPEAKER_10]: And then soon we will have a couple more all stars coming up talking about disability and TTRPGs and game design So I would love it if you guys would give us a listen.
[SPEAKER_06]: Highly recommend it. [SPEAKER_06]: It's great. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's awesome. [SPEAKER_10]: Thank you [SPEAKER_06]: And we also have a very, very, very special guest joining us, who I can almost guarantee you have seen or heard them before. [SPEAKER_06]: She's Grace the Tables of Critical Role, Dimension 20, and the new series Tales From Wood Creek.
[SPEAKER_06]: She's produced in GM the Puppy role in Puppy Role 2, raising over $60,000 for pet co-love. [SPEAKER_06]: You've seen her as Auntie Ruby on Miss Marvel and Disney Plus, and if you're anything like me, you've most definitely heard her while playing video games like Apex Legends Overwatch and Sunder folk.
[SPEAKER_06]: Anjali Bamani, thank you so much for joining us. [SPEAKER_04]: Thank you, guys. [SPEAKER_04]: Thanks for being here. [SPEAKER_06]: Well, I guess to just jump into it. [SPEAKER_06]: As I just kind of mentioned, Anjali, you've done a whole bunch of different acting from stage to screen to voice to animation and just what was it that kind of got you excited about acting in the first place?
[SPEAKER_04]: Um, it's, it's really so hard to put a finger on any one thing, um, but the, the throughline is storytelling, right? [SPEAKER_04]: Because, because ultimately it's a, it's a form of storytelling and storytelling is [SPEAKER_04]: It's such a unifying thing and it's such a connecting thing for all of us through history, right?
[SPEAKER_04]: Whether you're a storyteller or you're the person receiving the story, there's a kind of connection you get through story and the way we remember things that is completely different than just talking about something or just reading the facts or whatever, right? [SPEAKER_04]: So my family, my parents were, you know, read to us as kids and we're big readers and so [SPEAKER_04]: We were very immersed in the world of books from a very young age and our family.
[SPEAKER_04]: And then when I started playing D&D, and I was like, I've looked at the mythology that I've been learning from this is now in... [SPEAKER_04]: in deities and demigods. [SPEAKER_04]: The mythology that I learned from these comic books, I'm a chitra-kata comic books, Indian comic books, is also in D&D.
[SPEAKER_04]: And so the way that everything kind of cross the streams that way, it just became more and more a form of, [SPEAKER_04]: on your feet storytelling, that combined with the fact that I was a big ham when it was a little girl. [SPEAKER_04]: And that's the best in this. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay, like it happens, yeah, loved performing, loved doing the school plays, loved all of that.
[SPEAKER_04]: And it's really just such a wonderful way to, you know, there's there's always a home. [SPEAKER_04]: for a storyteller, or for someone who is willing to take on a story, there's always some way to connect. [SPEAKER_04]: And it wasn't until much later in life that I realized that almost everything that I do, the choices I make artistically when I am given the opportunity to make a choice other than just like taking the jobs of the people.
[SPEAKER_04]: But everything that I've chosen to create [SPEAKER_04]: from the heart is about making sure people know they're not alone. [SPEAKER_04]: And I feel like storytelling is my, it's my favorite weapon of choice to do that, you know, it's the perfect, it's the perfect way to draw people in and connect them and be able to fall into a story together and fall into a world together.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, what are actually, what are some of the stories that make you feel less alone? [SPEAKER_02]: What are the ones that make you feel at home? [SPEAKER_02]: What are the things that make you feel connected? [SPEAKER_04]: Well, let's alone or at home. [SPEAKER_04]: They're too busy because they're too, very, too, too different thing.
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, that's fair. [SPEAKER_02]: Give me the quick and dirty version of both or your favorite. [SPEAKER_04]: I was a lot of fiction. [SPEAKER_04]: There's a lot of fiction that I remember at particular points in my life, needing to read and not knowing before I read it that it was something that my heart needed at that time.
[SPEAKER_04]: And I love that. [SPEAKER_04]: I love that about, [SPEAKER_04]: just fiction just specific fiction. [SPEAKER_04]: I specifically remember reading I know this much is true at Wally Lamburg at a particularly dark period in my life and it helped get me through that time because it was such a sad story but there was also so much heart in it.
[SPEAKER_04]: As far as being at home in worlds, at the time that I was taking them in, there are so many, but it's in the moment of taking them in, I think, is when I felt the most immersed in them. [SPEAKER_04]: His Dark Materials, I love, love, love, that book series so much to this day. [SPEAKER_04]: There's a moment in it, and if you've read it, you know what I'm talking about, which will bring tears to my eyes, if I think about it for too long.
[SPEAKER_04]: really love the world created there. [SPEAKER_04]: I love the obviously the Lord of the Rings books, this world where there's so much darkness and there's so much terror but there's so much hope and there's so much [SPEAKER_04]: loyalty and there's so much, you know, there's so much good in the world that can overcome that.
[SPEAKER_04]: I love, you know, the politics and sociopolitical ramifications aside. [SPEAKER_04]: I loved the world of the Harry Potter books so much and the characters and the magic of the world, the kind of simple, practical magic of that world. [SPEAKER_04]: I love world where you want to fall into them even when [SPEAKER_04]: Because obviously we're living through some right now and if you can have examples in storytelling of a world where bad things can happen and yet good can prevail and there is tragedy but there's also hope and all of that I think it it it [SPEAKER_04]: makes us all a little bit stronger.
[SPEAKER_04]: And then getting to love, fall in love with Exandria from the inside and learning about it, learn who are from the inside of these worlds. [SPEAKER_04]: These worlds that my friends have created that are mind-blowing, just like that, the whole TTRPG experience. [SPEAKER_04]: For me, has been one series of just like, just been an embarrassment of riches in terms of just creative fulfillment.
[SPEAKER_06]: Just kind of speaking about all of that and all of the kind of the D&D stuff that you've really jumped ahead first into. [SPEAKER_06]: I was wondering if you might be able to kind of touch on creating your character, what influences the voice or what about the voice influences [SPEAKER_04]: Um, that's so, yeah, it's an interesting question.
[SPEAKER_04]: I, I, whatever people ask me, like, how do you choose? [SPEAKER_04]: My first thought is, I don't really know, but that's not like if I think about it, I can probably break it down. [SPEAKER_04]: I, I, I feel like through the years. [SPEAKER_04]: And I hope it's a way for most artists through the years you develop a whole set of tools and you start putting new ones in your toolbox as you learn them as you have more experience in life not just as an actor and so for me there's always a way into a character, but it's not always the same one.
[SPEAKER_04]: Whether for voice characters, I mean for specific characters where I'm only doing the vocal reporting and I'm not doing performance capture, obviously there are a set of restrictions that I have to stick with in terms of how I can portray it, but those restrictions don't apply to how I do it.
[SPEAKER_04]: So I can still figure out the physicality of the character and how that affects their voice. [SPEAKER_04]: You might just not see it. [SPEAKER_04]: And that's as posture is very much a part of how I play that character. [SPEAKER_04]: How she stands in her heels is how I, you know, very much a part of her voice and her elegance and her, you know, like her race under pressure.
[SPEAKER_04]: So yeah, sometimes it's just a particular line or a set of lines in the script that touch me in a particular way that make me think, okay, well, because [SPEAKER_04]: The thing also is, voice is not just the sound, voices how you say things, right? [SPEAKER_04]: It's the words you choose.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's the pace at which you speak. [SPEAKER_04]: It's there are so many things that make up each person's unique voice. [SPEAKER_04]: It's one of the reasons why when we're playing D&D and people ask me why don't do voices, so can I play? [SPEAKER_04]: I'm like, you don't need to do voices.
[SPEAKER_04]: You can speak, you can sign, like as long as you can communicate, you can do this game. [SPEAKER_04]: So yeah, so for voice characters, it's really just a matter, and it's similar to any other on-camera characters that I create as well. [SPEAKER_04]: It's just figuring out what my way into that character is.
[SPEAKER_02]: What would you say when it comes to a, you know, you've mentioned a character in a scripted medium, and something unscripted in a tabletop game where you're like creating a character from the ground up, when in that process does voice work come into it? [SPEAKER_02]: Is it like right at the beginning?
[SPEAKER_02]: Does the voice come to you first? [SPEAKER_02]: Or is it just kind of different? [SPEAKER_02]: for a pen and a character. [SPEAKER_04]: It really, it really, really depends. [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, the character that I'm playing entails from Wood Creek is me. [SPEAKER_04]: It's my voice in terms of voice voice.
[SPEAKER_04]: So there was no like, what voices this character going to have. [SPEAKER_04]: And generally speaking, I don't [SPEAKER_04]: I don't set out to do a voice quote unquote, you know, I don't, there are ways that I want the character to be differentiated from other people or other characters that I've played.
[SPEAKER_04]: For some characters, the voice is very much a part of them or letting you know where they are from or letting you know they are not from anyone place. [SPEAKER_04]: So an accent like something that comes on there, like if you had an eye, you don't, she's from all over. [SPEAKER_04]: So her, she has this kind of implacable accent.
[SPEAKER_04]: Whereas for when we did Candela obscure this very Quaditoy, not Quaditoy, but this very high-brow British accent that Charlotte had was to speak of her [SPEAKER_04]: background in her character, how she presents herself to the world, even if that's not necessarily where she came from. [SPEAKER_04]: So yeah, I wish I had a more specific answer for like there's when it comes in, but it just kind of it's all part of it's like if you were making soup.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, and you just put in stuff in you're putting it all just stuff in a bowl. [SPEAKER_04]: So it has to go with something to work or sometimes it doesn't. [SPEAKER_04]: That's just, like, oh, I want to have this. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm going to pull this in at the last minute. [SPEAKER_04]: So not only is time a weird soup, but apparently characters are weird soup as well.
[SPEAKER_02]: Do you have, like, because we make fun of Max a lot for this, where in terms of getting into, getting into certain characters, there's one where he's like, whenever he wants to get into one character, he's like, uh, so, uh, and like, it gets him into that specific voice. [SPEAKER_02]: Do you use, like, it's like, it's just a little line.
[SPEAKER_04]: No, I know. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's a thing, but it's certainly as well. [SPEAKER_04]: Here's a thing that it may or may not know about a voice recording. [SPEAKER_04]: A lot of times, we will go, look, we do a lot of different characters, a lot of us got a lot of voices in our head, and you might have a very long time between sessions.
[SPEAKER_04]: So every time we go in, they will give us what's called a vocal rep, a vocal reference, which is the voice that we did the last time. [SPEAKER_04]: Look at the some lines, and often they are the same lines over and over and over again. [SPEAKER_04]: So my sister-in-law had two of those lines, but there are definitely lines where I'm like, oh, you know that's symmetric.
[SPEAKER_04]: If I say, welcome to my reality. [SPEAKER_04]: You know that's symmetric. [SPEAKER_04]: It's like, right there, there she is, right? [SPEAKER_06]: There's no- Where's the shield? [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, exactly. [SPEAKER_06]: It's amazing. [SPEAKER_04]: It's amazing. [SPEAKER_04]: It's amazing.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: So they're definitely like, like, catch phrases, I guess. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Um, you know, but they're not necessarily things that I use to get into character. [SPEAKER_04]: Um, any more because those characters are so much a part of, like, a part of me.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: The vocal rest helps me remember where they might be pitched, but already I'm like, oh yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, yeah, yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: I know that guy. [SPEAKER_04]: I know that girl. [SPEAKER_04]: I know that. [SPEAKER_06]: Um, I was wondering if you might want to, uh, if you play like a game where I give you like the vibe and name of a character and you just kind of make a character based on that information the voice.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Just a couple of them. [SPEAKER_04]: And then we'll wrap it up. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: And then we'll wrap it up to do that every show at the 20 sided tavern. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, that's fine. [SPEAKER_04]: Right, every week is about it. [SPEAKER_04]: Like, because not only are we playing our player characters on stage, but sometimes we're jumping in and helping with other things.
[SPEAKER_04]: We're helping them, we're helping the tavern people, we're helping people. [SPEAKER_04]: So yeah, that sounds fun. [SPEAKER_04]: Let's do it. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, I just got a few of them. [SPEAKER_06]: I pulled our discord for one. [SPEAKER_06]: So we have from high archivist Pengu, we have Craig who is in their 30s is a trient or tri person and is an upbeat wrestler who's all about teaching their opponents to do better.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay guys, so like this is how you got to work. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, you got to take your friends just gotta make sure you wrap them around the other guy. [SPEAKER_00]: You got to wrap them around. [SPEAKER_00]: They can't see you coming. [SPEAKER_00]: You gotta be sweet, you know? [SPEAKER_00]: You gotta play up, you gotta stay low but you gotta stay up.
[SPEAKER_00]: You gotta make sure that you're wrapping around and up and down. [SPEAKER_00]: It's all about the posture. [SPEAKER_06]: Craig. [SPEAKER_06]: That was amazing. [SPEAKER_06]: Craig, Craig. [SPEAKER_00]: Craig, Craig. [SPEAKER_06]: Uh, for the other side of this, uh, maybe we could do, uh, from Asia, Ophelia Raymond, who is a high elf, but is 225.
[SPEAKER_06]: I think that's in elf years. [SPEAKER_06]: So maybe a teenager, very protective, okay, I just kind of am guessing, but very protective, older sister, 1000 years. [SPEAKER_04]: Is that how long? [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, very long like 700, which is why, yeah. [SPEAKER_06]: Very protective older sister, very noble with an ideology that she follows to the letter.
[SPEAKER_04]: And save your name again? [SPEAKER_06]: Uh, Ophelia Rymend. [SPEAKER_03]: Hello, I'm Aphelia Ryanand, and you must know who I am and I'm a Suits. [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, you're telling me you hate my little sister, is that so? [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, I'm a Suits, a test that you must first go through before I can decide where I'm on a wall the other way.
[SPEAKER_01]: First, jump off that cliff and let's see if you go splat. [SPEAKER_02]: wanted to date your sister but I don't want any more so good. [SPEAKER_06]: You got to do a set of just jump off the cliff as an overprotective sister. [SPEAKER_04]: She is. [SPEAKER_04]: That was fought on. [SPEAKER_06]: I think we should do road, who should we do from the badlands, just a really quick.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, we should give you, okay, a character from our extant campaign that already has a voice, but just to see what you come up with for that character. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay. [SPEAKER_02]: Let's give you a professor portends, a magician, a con artist, sort of snake oil salesman traveling through a dusty frontier, [SPEAKER_01]: Ladies and gentlemen, I'm going to show you something today that you've never seen before.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's right, I have nothing up with you. [SPEAKER_01]: I have nothing up with you. [SPEAKER_01]: I have nothing in this pant leg. [SPEAKER_01]: I have nothing in this pant leg. [SPEAKER_01]: But what I do have is potions. [SPEAKER_01]: That's right, potions. [SPEAKER_01]: Very powerful potions.
[SPEAKER_01]: You better! [SPEAKER_04]: You! [SPEAKER_04]: you are you with the uh the limp over there come over here so please come come come come I want to help you out and let me give you this uh this uh potion here and um and also here this cane and uh see if this uh this doesn't make you feel home or a little bit always you always use the cane and the potion I mean you should have not have been fine it's just a cane but [SPEAKER_00]: I'm telling you, I'm a healer, that's me, a healer.
[SPEAKER_02]: This is not entirely that far off actually, it's very amazing. [SPEAKER_06]: It was wonderful. [SPEAKER_06]: Well, unfortunately, we're out of time, but thank you so much. [SPEAKER_04]: So sorry, and I'm, you know, well, I'm sure we will have another time to chat. [SPEAKER_02]: Definitely.
[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you so much for being here. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, and before we go, you've got some very exciting things to plug. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, absolutely. [SPEAKER_04]: Tales from Wood Creek. [SPEAKER_04]: Please, everybody watch Tales from Wood Creek. [SPEAKER_04]: It is on the Dungeon Dude's channel.
[SPEAKER_04]: We didn't talk about it very much, but it is a very, very cool new show, DMed by Debra and Wall. [SPEAKER_04]: It's me and the Dungeon dudes, Monty and Kelly. [SPEAKER_04]: As the main cast, we have Iman Velani. [SPEAKER_04]: We have Jessica Henrik, Sean Majumger and Will Wheaton as our guests.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's essentially D&D meets in [SPEAKER_04]: reality TV and watch as the magic unfolds. [SPEAKER_04]: Super, super, super, super cool. [SPEAKER_04]: And then please come see the 20-sided tavern. [SPEAKER_04]: We have six weeks in Los Angeles coming up, starting the week of Thanksgiving. [SPEAKER_04]: I will be jumping in for shows here and there and for the entire last week in Los Angeles between December 30th and January 4th.
[SPEAKER_04]: I will also be, I don't know when this is coming out, but I will also be doing two shows in San Diego on November 18th and 19th [SPEAKER_04]: Um, so yeah, keep an eye out on the socials. [SPEAKER_04]: We're always adding new shows, new cities to the tour. [SPEAKER_04]: The cast is one of the most remarkable cast.
