[SPEAKER_06]: I'm Commander Shepherd, and this is my favorite lorecast on the Citadel. [SPEAKER_07]: Welcome to the Mass Effect lorecast. [SPEAKER_07]: I'm in seven the legend. [SPEAKER_04]: And I'm Genesis, join us. [SPEAKER_07]: As we explore along tides of light and through the shores of dust to see where this lore began.
[SPEAKER_04]: And consider where it may go. [SPEAKER_07]: Specters welcome back to another fantastic week of the Mass Effect Lord, Kost, and we are coming to you actually live from the war ravaged land of the port of Cidadel. [SPEAKER_07]: Genesis, how are you doing? [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, in the line, everybody.
[SPEAKER_04]: I am loving it, living in my not-healthcape. [SPEAKER_04]: Thank you very much. [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, how was brunch today, by the way? [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, yeah, some light looting too. [SPEAKER_07]: All right. [SPEAKER_07]: That's enough for the commentary. [SPEAKER_07]: It would joining us today are two of our Patrons Magistrate Vita and Retro Boss.
[SPEAKER_07]: Welcome in, guys. [SPEAKER_07]: So today, we are going to be talking about what jobs we would have in the Mass Effect universe. [SPEAKER_07]: And we've got a little bit of a twist for it for this patron chat. [SPEAKER_07]: We're each going to go through and say, what job we ourselves would hold.
[SPEAKER_07]: But then we're going to go around and kind of put the other person in the hot seat where the rest of us will tell that person what jobs we think they would have. [SPEAKER_07]: And so, Genesis and I can kind of save our answers for the end, I suppose, as always. [SPEAKER_07]: But we can just jump right into it.
[SPEAKER_07]: Magister, Redrabot, do either of you prefer to go first? [SPEAKER_06]: Redrabot, go first. [SPEAKER_06]: Okay, I don't get it. [SPEAKER_06]: Uh, I don't recall if I'll talk about this in the discord now, but real life, I'm a combat medic in the US Army, uh, so I feel like I'm just going to do the board answer and say, I'd still be a combat medic, but within the weird, the weird structure that is the Alliance Military, I'd be a marine or something, but I think it'd be interesting because Medegel [SPEAKER_06]: But it'd be interesting to see what they have their medics doing.
[SPEAKER_06]: Because I believe it wasn't one of the special classes you can pick in Mass Effect One after the Moonbase. [SPEAKER_07]: Yes, that's one of the specializations that you can pick was it for Sentinel? [SPEAKER_07]: I forget exactly which class that specialization came up for. [SPEAKER_07]: Do you remember Genesis?
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, that feels right to me because I know that I have definitely picked it a timer to being a medic and being able to heal more, which playing on insanity is a really good perk. [SPEAKER_07]: So you are retrobot and I were discussing this in our DMs like a week or two ago, I want to say about his special thoughts on Medigil.
[SPEAKER_07]: And so I want to give you the floor right now because with inside knowledge to combat medicine, you actually have quite the bone to pick with whoever it was that came up with Medigil. [SPEAKER_06]: Overall, it's kind of like too broad about how it explains it's an estration because I work with a lot of medications that have like very specific dosages and you don't you don't have like medications that do multiple functions like yeah, you got your antibiotic.
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, Randall, jizzic and you have all these other medications, but Medellin and other hands like oh, it's an analgesic, it's also an antibiotic. [SPEAKER_06]: But like that kind of [SPEAKER_06]: Douche is wise depending on injury, uh, which is just bizarre, then they also talk about how you can overdose on it apparently in the games, which is also interesting.
[SPEAKER_07]: Right, I forget which isn't there a squad bait that says that they're feeling a little bit whosy from too much meta gel? [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, like there's I think it's came. [SPEAKER_06]: They say something about some people have an adverse [SPEAKER_06]: which is also weird that you can be allergic to this like synthetic gel that has like micro bots or whatever in it.
[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, that Genesis you had something you wanted to say. [SPEAKER_04]: So the one who has a bad reaction to it is actually Brooks in the Citadel DLC, she takes too many shots, and it makes her jittery and all buzzy and things like that, and there are definitely people who are allergic to medications, so I could see if somebody could be allergic to metagel because I'm allergic to certain medications, so who knows, but a gel might not work on me.
[SPEAKER_07]: But I get where retrobots come in from this, especially because if you had like a grave wound, right? [SPEAKER_07]: And let's say that you were separated by like a hundred feet or so from the rest of your squad. [SPEAKER_07]: You would think that if you lost enough blood, Medigel is not gonna be like a solves all for that.
[SPEAKER_07]: like you need a transfusion, probably they're in the field, or at least back at some kind of forward operating base that hopefully is close enough by. [SPEAKER_07]: Because you can't just use meta-gel to seal the wound and hey, you've lost like, I don't know, eight liters of blood. [SPEAKER_07]: I think you're going to be fine.
[SPEAKER_07]: You're going to walk it off, buddy. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, unless they're trying to argue, it somehow also works as some futuristic extend their something, so it helps with blood volume or something. [SPEAKER_06]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, but blood loss is very important with that.
[SPEAKER_06]: And also like with how fast the wounds are how fast, like the objectives are coming from the guns, you could argue that they're potterizing themselves, like after they after the person gets shot, so maybe there's not a whole blood loss isn't a major concern in the future, but who knows?
[SPEAKER_07]: But if it was like a round or at least a slug right because it's just a sheer slug off of a metal block that they're accelerating. [SPEAKER_07]: If it was a large enough one propelled at that speed, you would think that it would just take off a limb if your shields were gone. [SPEAKER_06]: True.
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, and that's especially you'd have to really worry about cavitation when it's like. [SPEAKER_06]: Because you have the initial answer from the, from the, like the boat room, but you have the secondary issue from the force from the action predict also causes like more area within the room, called cavitation.
[SPEAKER_06]: I guess with those fast moving around, you won't have to worry about it, uh, ricochet or bounce around the body. [SPEAKER_06]: So it would be pretty clean for own fruits, which is a lot easier to take care of than it went in. [SPEAKER_06]: They had a bomb that had a tumble dust. [SPEAKER_06]: Like somewhere else.
[SPEAKER_07]: Of course, that's not even counting all of the different kinds of ammunition that we know exist in the mass effect universe. [SPEAKER_07]: Like in mass effect one, you can get shred around, you can get proton rounds, you can get all these different kinds of rounds. [SPEAKER_07]: that would have undoubtedly different effects on the body.
[SPEAKER_07]: So Metagel might not be able to solve like a polonium round. [SPEAKER_06]: Right? [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_07]: So who knows? [SPEAKER_07]: But that, okay. [SPEAKER_07]: So Retrobot, getting back to the topic. [SPEAKER_07]: says that he would be a combat medic, or at least the equivalent of that in the mass effect universe, uh, red robot does that mean that you would have kind of close coordination with someone like Chakwas.
[SPEAKER_07]: I'm kind of sharing my ignorance of how combat medics work in the military right now. [SPEAKER_07]: I know that Chakwas is permanently stationed aboard a ship, but I don't know how that might, you know, how you might work with someone like that in your job in real life. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_06]: So that really would depend on what kind of unit you have placed with. [SPEAKER_06]: So with my real job, I'm with an event company. [SPEAKER_06]: So I have the MO medical officer that oversees me. [SPEAKER_06]: That's basically for his permission that I'm able to do all my advanced skills.
[SPEAKER_06]: Because on the certified EMT, but my scope of practice is a lot larger because I have a medical [SPEAKER_06]: So I'm able to give a whole lot more medications and do advanced interventions like crack a fire rate, automation, and fashion out of me, and stuff like that. [SPEAKER_06]: So if I was in a situation like that and we're saying like talk was was my M.O.
[SPEAKER_06]: then depending on how much talk was trusting me would be part of the limit of extent of what I could do on the field compared to just stabilize the casualty and get them back to shift as quick as possible. [SPEAKER_07]: All right, that is, you said a bunch of words that I don't know, and I'm not going to take up more of your time by asking you to walk me through basic medical terminology, but why don't we turn it over now for the rest of us to say what job that we think that retrobot would do in the Mass Effect universe.
[SPEAKER_07]: Genesis, do you have an answer? [SPEAKER_04]: I do. [SPEAKER_04]: I think that I would just play a little bit off of that and say to take it a step further, not only are you just a combat medic. [SPEAKER_04]: But you are teaching the old medicine. [SPEAKER_04]: So yeah, you are going to be out there training people on how to solve all of these wounds, how to treat people.
[SPEAKER_04]: If you run out of Medicell while you're out on a mission, I think that you can still be able to use your skills right now, but in the Mass Effect world, and not be everybody is reliant on the cure all. [SPEAKER_07]: with bone sauce. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, that definitely is interesting because like we know they carry a magic, but they never, like they never talk about overmax that they're also carrying like turn of cancer and chest seals and stuff like that for one like they don't have the magic.
[SPEAKER_06]: So I'll be interested in it. [SPEAKER_07]: right and and you know what someone listening to this might correct us and be like actually you know there is this point in the lore where they talk about turn kids are blah blah and I encourage and welcome that if you know something a little bit more than we know off the top of our heads right now then please leave a comment.
[SPEAKER_07]: Magister if you were going to assign a job to redrabot in the Mass Effect universe what would it be? [SPEAKER_07]: Blue Sun's mercenary. [SPEAKER_07]: Ooh, okay. [SPEAKER_07]: All right. [SPEAKER_07]: Nice. [SPEAKER_07]: Retrobot, would you ever consider being a mercenary in the Mass Effect universe?
[SPEAKER_06]: I mean, sure, let me, it's not far out. [SPEAKER_06]: I mean, there's a lot of guys who get out of the military and go private because there's a whole lot of private companies out there are in, yeah, it's all there's to go out. [SPEAKER_06]: Not that different from being a PMC, right? [SPEAKER_06]: Then like maybe I can practice more of the mess and I know because maybe they can't easily get a hand of Medigil or whatever because they don't have like official reason to be having it or whatever.
[SPEAKER_07]: nice all right well i have been thinking about this and racking my brain and i think in the mass effect universe i think that you would get a job with um oh crap i can't remember the name of the company off the top of my head that made me to met a gel uh sort of foundation is it sort of [SPEAKER_04]: Sounds right.
[SPEAKER_04]: I can do fact check. [SPEAKER_07]: Okay. [SPEAKER_07]: So while you're fact checking, I'll just go ahead with my rationale here. [SPEAKER_07]: So I think that you would get a job with sort of foundation advising them on what the best techniques for medical applications are. [SPEAKER_07]: And considering that in the lore, they are a non-profit.
[SPEAKER_07]: I think you could probably do that and sleep pretty well at night. [SPEAKER_07]: And I can imagine sort of foundation would probably pay pretty well as well. [SPEAKER_07]: plus you could. [SPEAKER_04]: It is, in fact, certification. [SPEAKER_04]: Hey, nice. [SPEAKER_07]: All right. [SPEAKER_07]: I retain my, my job as co-host of the Mass Effect Lorcaz one more week until those YouTube commenters have something to say about it.
[SPEAKER_07]: All right. [SPEAKER_07]: Genesis, why don't we jump over to you, actually, because you told me in the pre-show chat that you did not want to do your IRL job in the Mass Effect universe. [SPEAKER_04]: This is true. [SPEAKER_04]: My IRL job is accounting and yes, Barlowon is pretty cool. [SPEAKER_04]: I don't think that our personalities would work well together.
[SPEAKER_04]: And that's a really key part of working as an accountant. [SPEAKER_04]: You have to get along with your coworkers because you can really only argue with them for personal things because the numbers are in fact the numbers and those can't be argued with. [SPEAKER_04]: And I'm nowhere near, bull is, that's not, that's not my character, character, character at all.
[SPEAKER_04]: But what I do think that I would excel at and what my original plan was for when going to college was therapy and psychology. [SPEAKER_04]: So I think that I could actually really do some good work in the therapy sector, but specifically like assigned to a ship so that way I have a limited crew that I'm working with.
[SPEAKER_04]: and just maintaining the mental health of these people because if anybody out there is doing even a fraction of what shepherd goes through, there's some major PSTV that needs to be worked through. [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, so I was going to say, are you sure you wouldn't work with Shaiira? [SPEAKER_07]: Biggest, she's kind of a therapist.
[SPEAKER_07]: She's like therapist, psychic slash sex worker. [SPEAKER_07]: I was leaning into the first two, rather than the latter. [SPEAKER_04]: And I mean, my other show where we talk all about video game romances would definitely lend into that being the style of work that I would do. [SPEAKER_04]: But I think I kind of leaned more towards the Kelly Chambers aspect of it.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's still a little flirty, still very out there, but actually legitimately cared about the people that she was tasked to help manage their mental health with all the conversations about, yeah. [SPEAKER_07]: Those Kelly Chamber episodes that we did now coming into coming into view for me.
[SPEAKER_07]: All right, I like that. [SPEAKER_07]: I like that one. [SPEAKER_07]: All right, I'll go, I'll go last year. [SPEAKER_07]: Actually, I want to hear Magister if Genesis had a job in the Mass Effect universe. [SPEAKER_07]: What do you think it would be? [SPEAKER_05]: I think it would be like Lyrist, dad, be a bartender.
[SPEAKER_07]: Oh, a data, nice. [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I think that you hit the nail on the head with that one. [SPEAKER_04]: You know, oh, go for it. [SPEAKER_05]: I want to say, I think you have a, especially what's used, saying that about the therapists, I think you have a good enough vibe to like be the person to listen to the people while they're down on their luck and be like, okay, well, maybe you should propose to the volusk or whatever else from there and I think that would be, I think that would be a good fit for you.
[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, or like telling someone off if they were getting a little bit confrontational at the bar, listen here, sweet cheeks. [SPEAKER_04]: matriarched theta is one of my all-time favorite side characters in the entire trilogy, and I absolutely love and adore that as being an option for what I, of who I would become.
[SPEAKER_04]: Like, I mean, come on, she's in a sorry. [SPEAKER_04]: So there's that going for it. [SPEAKER_04]: And then the the Crogan aspect of it, that's also very me, the bartender who will listen to your problems and [SPEAKER_04]: And then, legitimately, and honestly cares about her daughter, uh, yeah, and has comments about Vanessa used it.
[SPEAKER_04]: So, you know, it's all wrapped up. [SPEAKER_04]: That's a perfect job for me. [SPEAKER_04]: To problemably, how may matriarch a theta? [SPEAKER_07]: A theta could probably knock back her to kill a pretty well. [SPEAKER_07]: I can imagine. [SPEAKER_07]: So, all right, nice. [SPEAKER_07]: Retrobot, what job do you think you would give genesis in the Mass Effect universe?
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, I was going to say that I think she would be an exo on a lion's vessel. [SPEAKER_07]: Okay. [SPEAKER_07]: All right. [SPEAKER_07]: And so walk us through that one. [SPEAKER_06]: So I know you're in first off that she's basically the exo of this Mass Effect Lord cast. [SPEAKER_06]: But I also feel like she has good, like administrative powers and she understands what has to be done when the commander's away.
[SPEAKER_07]: Okay. [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_07]: I love that one. [SPEAKER_04]: That also rate fits because it's not like my accounting brain goes yes, I can formulate list, make sure that tasks are delegated and make sure the people who are supposed to be doing what they are doing are actually doing their jobs and getting things done.
[SPEAKER_04]: I actually tend to be the mom of the party and making sure that everybody gets to where they need to go to by the end of the night and taking care of all the drunk friends and I feel like, yeah, [SPEAKER_07]: That's awesome. [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I can I can see that for sure because the administrative powers I've witnessed those first hand.
[SPEAKER_07]: So I can definitely see you excelling in that role. [SPEAKER_07]: Just as I think that if you were in the Mass Effect universe, you would find a way to make yourself a underground crime boss and club owner. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay, let's play this one out here. [SPEAKER_04]: Why? [SPEAKER_04]: Why?
[SPEAKER_07]: Okay, so first of all, I'm referencing Aria, but second of all, because I think that you know how to communicate to people without using force. [SPEAKER_07]: But if wanted, you can communicate with the thinly-veiled implication of force behind it while still sounding tactful. [SPEAKER_04]: Mm-hmm.
[SPEAKER_04]: OK. [SPEAKER_04]: And so you're light up out there. [SPEAKER_07]: And also the half-crogan part. [SPEAKER_07]: So that's true. [SPEAKER_07]: That's Canon, IRL, Genesis, half-crogan. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes. [SPEAKER_04]: It is true. [SPEAKER_04]: And half a sorry. [SPEAKER_04]: I'll claim that as well.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay. [SPEAKER_04]: I see that now being able to get what means to be done no matter what it takes with the threat of violence or just share you owe me. [SPEAKER_07]: that like that attitude of like, you know, this is my clan. [SPEAKER_07]: No one fucks of my clan. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I do hold my clan very close.
[SPEAKER_07]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: Nobody touches them. [SPEAKER_07]: All right, let that be a lesson to you all. [SPEAKER_07]: Okay, and with that, why don't we go over to the midbrake and when we come back, [SPEAKER_07]: I want to hear some more jobs. [SPEAKER_02]: We have beef, bacon, we have beer, the foods of my people.
[SPEAKER_01]: Young men have funny ideas of what a story are like. [SPEAKER_01]: I blame the extra net and computer games. [SPEAKER_06]: Rex, shepherd, grunt, shepherd, Rex. [SPEAKER_07]: Here we are in the middle of the show where, typically, we read out your five-star reviews. [SPEAKER_07]: Although, Genesis, I don't think we have any new five-star reviews today.
[SPEAKER_07]: I just checked on Apple Podcasts and Spotify, and I didn't see any new comments. [SPEAKER_07]: If you have something that you'd like to say about the show, you can now comment on Spotify. [SPEAKER_07]: We check those for the most recent episodes that have gone up. [SPEAKER_07]: And you can leave a comment there.
[SPEAKER_07]: I've read out a couple of pretty funny ones in the past. [SPEAKER_07]: And you can also, of course, leave us a review on Apple Podcasts. [SPEAKER_07]: But more than that, what helps the show more than that, if you enjoy it is as cliche as it sounds, just talking to a friend. [SPEAKER_07]: If you know a friend that likes Mass Effect or you want to introduce them to Mass Effect, one of us, one of us, then just bring up the Mass Effect lore cast.
[SPEAKER_07]: And be like, you know, I heard this pretty cool lore fact on the Mass Effect lore cast. [SPEAKER_07]: Don't say like that, because you might scare them away. [SPEAKER_07]: But you get my point. [SPEAKER_07]: Anyway, that is all I have for the middle of the show. [SPEAKER_07]: Of course, thank you to our patrons, uh, Genesis.
[SPEAKER_07]: I always do the Tier 5 shoutouts. [SPEAKER_07]: Do you want to do them today? [SPEAKER_07]: I'm putting you on the spot. [SPEAKER_04]: I don't think that's what you're doing right now. [SPEAKER_07]: Like, hey, do you want to bring a Patreon right now and read it out? [SPEAKER_04]: I absolutely can.
[SPEAKER_04]: Our patrons are amazing, and I always love to shout them out. [SPEAKER_04]: So of course, butts butts, butts, unfortunate benefactor, William, Superfly 440, Retro Bot, Lieutenant Casino, Curacy, and Edboy. [SPEAKER_04]: Big hearts, major loves, all the thank yous. [SPEAKER_07]: And we do have one new patron, John Eddie.
[SPEAKER_07]: Thank you for signing up and supporting this show as well. [SPEAKER_07]: And with that, let's get back to the second half of the show. [SPEAKER_03]: After time and drift among open stars, a long tides of light and through shows of dust, I will return to where I began. [SPEAKER_00]: Celery and reproduction different, very little sex drive.
[SPEAKER_00]: If intended to try human, would try you. [SPEAKER_00]: Ow, my bakeries! [SPEAKER_07]: And here we are in the second half of the show. [SPEAKER_07]: Magister, I have a job that I would assign you in my head. [SPEAKER_07]: But first, I want to hear what job you would take in the Mass Effect universe.
[SPEAKER_05]: A job I would love to take, but probably wouldn't more likely get cause I was a chance would be to be an actor in the Mass Effect universe. [SPEAKER_05]: I think it will be very interesting to try to be a human who's acting with the L-Core doing Hamlet for those extended amount of time for long periods.
[SPEAKER_05]: Go, go, go beyond the stage. [SPEAKER_05]: I feel like there'll be beds in the green room just to [SPEAKER_05]: sleep through and have a great time there. [SPEAKER_05]: So that's what I would love to do. [SPEAKER_05]: Have a little to be or not to be. [SPEAKER_05]: What more likely I should be the fact though is especially what what I do for living is I would probably be a corporate slave on one of the colony planets moving boxes somewhere [SPEAKER_05]: for any number of companies on places like the Vernon, Vernon skits or whatever the couple places are called out there, eat in prime turn, all that fun stuff.
[SPEAKER_07]: So you could always play that office. [SPEAKER_07]: Well, I'm getting to have an adventure. [SPEAKER_07]: I get to see a different world. [SPEAKER_07]: Even if I am still a corporate slave. [SPEAKER_07]: Um, so maybe you'd be working for like, um, Eldvell Ashland energy corporation, right?
[SPEAKER_07]: Um, Genesis, you were holding up a notebook while Magistro was saying this. [SPEAKER_07]: Well, I couldn't make out what it said on the notebook. [SPEAKER_07]: What did it say? [SPEAKER_04]: Well, this was the notes that I was taking while we were talking pre-show and the idea of picking jobs for other people came up.
[SPEAKER_04]: And I wrote down here, Magister, the only human in the all-l-core production of Hamlet. [SPEAKER_04]: So, all the back of that was your answer for yourself. [SPEAKER_04]: And I wrote that down as what I would pick for you. [SPEAKER_04]: I got you. [SPEAKER_07]: That would take some supreme patience to be able to just stand there and wait for the rest of your L core cast to finish their lines.
[SPEAKER_07]: God, can you imagine? [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, God forbid, there is an L-Core King Lear. [SPEAKER_07]: Oh, yeah, all right. [SPEAKER_07]: So I like that you gave us the kind of desirable job versus the realistic one of what you think you would do in the Mass Effect universe. [SPEAKER_07]: Retrobot, if you were gonna give Magister a job in the MEU, what would it be?
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, I think Magister would be a writer for several daily news network. [SPEAKER_07]: Ooh, okay, all right, so, okay, so I think I see where you're going with that. [SPEAKER_07]: Magister, how do you feel about that? [SPEAKER_05]: that would be fun. [SPEAKER_05]: All right. [SPEAKER_05]: I'd be concerned about the gun behind my head.
[SPEAKER_05]: Make sure I don't do anything inappropriate or write anything that they would not want me to do, but I think that'd be probably a good time. [SPEAKER_05]: That's a good news out there. [SPEAKER_07]: I don't think Disney owns news in the future, but [SPEAKER_07]: uh, the elusive man I can certainly see, uh, saying, you know, I've read that last article and it wasn't in line with my priorities as executive of this branch, and so I, uh, I need to see you in my office.
[SPEAKER_07]: No, no, it's okay. [SPEAKER_07]: You can leave your stuff there. [SPEAKER_07]: You won't need it. [SPEAKER_07]: Exactly, you will really be fired out of a cannon to award that that's that sun behind him Yeah, yeah, all right. [SPEAKER_07]: That's awesome. [SPEAKER_07]: Genesis. [SPEAKER_07]: What job would you give Magister?
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, I mean, other than the fact that I already cast him in Hamlet along the L. Core, I think writing for the Blasto TV series. [SPEAKER_04]: I think that you would have so much fun with that. [SPEAKER_07]: That was my answer. [SPEAKER_07]: That was... I was going to say that he would be a director or a writer for the Blasto TV series.
[SPEAKER_07]: That's great. [SPEAKER_07]: Yes. [SPEAKER_07]: All right. [SPEAKER_07]: Well, now I have to come up with one off the top of my head, but I think I already have one. [SPEAKER_07]: Yes, that one, that one works. [SPEAKER_07]: So I can actually see Magister as being a professor of sorts in the Mass Effect universe or a teacher.
[SPEAKER_07]: And I can see you being someone who wanted to mentor the youth perhaps on the grissome academy. [SPEAKER_07]: uh... so and and kind of like teaching uh... them what you've learned as well as just kind of working to build a better future not for humanity i'm not gonna say that that's a surplus thing but building a better future for everyone in the milky way maybe something like the grissome academy but on the citadel because i feel like you would definitely want to be in the heart of the galactic community like you would want to be [SPEAKER_05]: was one to go into pedagogy before things got a little crazy.
[SPEAKER_05]: So yeah, that definitely will fit. [SPEAKER_07]: So for those of us who don't know what pedagogy means, can you help explain, you know, when you say that you wanted to go into pedagogy, what does that mean? [SPEAKER_07]: What, what, what did you envision? [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, um, I wanted to go into get my master's degree in acting pedagogy.
[SPEAKER_05]: So basically, the, um, it was kind of, that's kind of a pre requirement to being a college professor that taught acting in different theater skills to people. [SPEAKER_05]: So that was one of the tracks that I was looking to go in towards, but they, that particular type of degree wants you to have like, [SPEAKER_05]: years of experience on stage and off stage and things like that.
[SPEAKER_05]: So never quite got around to it and especially with COVID and everything else hitting. [SPEAKER_05]: Hey, what's that? [SPEAKER_05]: to get a little stage left on that one, but that's what that more self going toward. [SPEAKER_07]: So that degree sounds like, even COVID not with sanding years of acting, I know because my older brother was an actor.
[SPEAKER_07]: That would require a lot of self-sacrifice if not self-punishment to endure that kind of what you need to do in order to get that degree. [SPEAKER_07]: So. [SPEAKER_07]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_07]: All right. [SPEAKER_07]: Well, I think that brings us to me. [SPEAKER_07]: And of course, I've talked about it on the show multiple times.
[SPEAKER_07]: What I do for living and trained journalist, not practicing at the moment, still looking for another job. [SPEAKER_07]: But I think, honestly, in the Mass Effect universe, I would probably still be a journalist, I'll Emily Wong, hopefully never Lisa been seen in an Algelani. [SPEAKER_07]: Because she is a sensationalist, although does not deserve to be punched.
[SPEAKER_07]: because that's what bullies do. [SPEAKER_07]: Bullies use their fists, especially if you are trained super soldier and your fists are deadly weapons. [SPEAKER_07]: That should be considered not just assault, but you should probably get stripped of your rank. [SPEAKER_07]: So yeah, I would think that I would be an investigative reporter ideally on the citadel or I'll give it this little twist.
[SPEAKER_07]: On the citadel, [SPEAKER_07]: But if I had a family or if I didn't have a family or if I didn't really have like kind of anyone who cared about me, so to speak, then I would probably embed myself somewhere in the term of systems and then dispatches back to Citadel space under a pseudonym to protect myself.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, you know, we've definitely talked about that, and especially, and then the pre show also is like you are very Emily Wong that is what you are born to do it is what you are destined to do in the mass effect universe and it you would bring the you know the server side of it where they are very geared to making servers look good you would actually be bringing the [SPEAKER_04]: the the truth of it of yes these things are happening but there is also this side of it because we love reading the server's daily news but we also know that it is tainted and it's not the whole truth and I would love the end seven daily news.
[SPEAKER_04]: Uh, getting those out there. [SPEAKER_07]: Well, since I'm looking for a job, maybe I should just start that in seven daily news and then just make up news dispatches from the Mass Effect universe. [SPEAKER_07]: I mean, I already have the Alliance News Network background that I could do on my little stream deck here.
[SPEAKER_07]: I used to do that on stream for those of you who don't know. [SPEAKER_07]: It was a stream redemption where someone would cash in channel points and give me a prompt. [SPEAKER_07]: and I would just have to come up with a short 30 second newscast script based off of that prompt. [SPEAKER_07]: And I want to say that like a lot of them were totally not safe for work.
[SPEAKER_07]: So you can look them up on the clips on my twitch channel. [SPEAKER_07]: But thank you, Genesis. [SPEAKER_07]: Magister, what do you think that I would do in the Mass Effect universe? [SPEAKER_05]: Paul, these are the cop out, but it was the first and it came to my head, especially after you said it as well.
[SPEAKER_05]: One would actually be a professor as well, especially since you are the podcaster of the Mass Effect, for Mass Effect, I think you would probably go down Lyra's vein and try and study more about the universe itself and those who came before as well as [SPEAKER_05]: going over the conflict between the different races, the Racken Eye Wars, all that.
[SPEAKER_05]: I think you would have a very interesting time publishing articles as well as deep diving into the actual mythology lore and history of the universe. [SPEAKER_07]: That would be extremely intriguing. [SPEAKER_07]: Maybe I could get a job with the history channel or whatever it is on the extra net then.
[SPEAKER_07]: I actually own a few blazers with elbow patches and their tweed, so I think professor might be spot on there, although I've never worn them here in the lore test. [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, that would be fun. [SPEAKER_07]: I would like that, and I've often talked about when I'm done practicing journalism at some point in the future, you know, when I've retired, I'd like to be a professor or a teacher [SPEAKER_07]: Um, because I don't know if I could ever really sit back and just waste a way.
[SPEAKER_07]: Um, so awesome. [SPEAKER_07]: All right. [SPEAKER_07]: Retrobot. [SPEAKER_07]: What job would you give me in the Mass Effect universe? [SPEAKER_06]: Uh, so I would say that Commander Shepherd's cameo on Blasto went so popular that it started a new TV show that's the adventures of Commander Shepherd.
[SPEAKER_06]: I'd say you're the actor who plays Commander Shepherd. [SPEAKER_07]: take down sluggert or whatever yeah hey now i'll take that that'd be fun i haven't done a lot of acting um but i did do some acting in high school i was jiles quarry in the crucible so that was fun [SPEAKER_07]: more waste got to be sarcastic.
[SPEAKER_07]: It was great. [SPEAKER_07]: But yeah, that would be fun. [SPEAKER_07]: I'd love to do the screen acting. [SPEAKER_07]: Well, I guess we, you know, Genesis both you and I did a little bit of voice acting for the Avengers audio drama. [SPEAKER_04]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_04]: Yep. [SPEAKER_04]: No, I've been voice acting for a while now.
[SPEAKER_04]: I've gotten a few recordings out there in the universe. [SPEAKER_04]: So yeah, no, and I think you could do good at it too because you have the ability to embody a character very quickly. [SPEAKER_04]: your voice impressions come off the top of the hat and you can just go into the characters so quickly.
[SPEAKER_04]: So I think that you could pull off, especially for Shepard, because it's a character that you know so well, you can definitely play a brochure. [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, a lot of things you might struggle with, membership. [SPEAKER_07]: a lot of that is my crippling red sand addiction if you see me doing desk bumps over here that's what that is um but yeah well all right that would be that would be really fun being a screen actor playing shepherd although on now i'm starting to wonder whether or not that was the most polite and indirect way to call me con red verner [SPEAKER_07]: I'm not wouldn't be the first time wouldn't be the first time I've been like into Conrad but this is my soapbox that I'll stand on that there are not enough blonde men in mass in fact think of as many blonde men as you can think of and I'll give you a dollar if it's not Conrad and it's not that one seasick officer who love Shepherd that you run into in the words and mass effect one.
[SPEAKER_04]: But do you know that that's actually can and lore about the fact that blondes no longer exist? [SPEAKER_04]: And so seeing a natural blonde is actually very rare and is notable because of that because the homogenization of all the humans back on earth that brown hair has become more dominant and the fact that Kaley Sanders is a natural blonde is also striking.
[SPEAKER_04]: And she comments on that about how she is a dying breed [SPEAKER_07]: there we go. [SPEAKER_07]: I'm a dying breed. [SPEAKER_07]: I knew there was something special. [SPEAKER_07]: All right. [SPEAKER_07]: Well, and on that note with a special lore, but that's really cool. [SPEAKER_07]: Did it was then mass-factor sentient?
[SPEAKER_07]: it was okay that's what I thought because you were saying that I'm like no I remember hearing this I don't remember we're hearing this okay must be essential if she brought up Kaylee well I guess that's all we have for this week I really enjoyed this roundtable discussion of jobs in the mass effect universe and I'd love to hear from some of our listeners if their jobs that they do IRL are actually even existent in the mass [SPEAKER_07]: lot of truckers listen to the show you know is space trucking a thing I suppose it is right because you get their civilian cargo vessels like the MSV Cal loon so yeah maybe that job would also exist there would you even want that job you know would you be okay being away from your family for that long maybe you don't like your family maybe you like that I don't know but as long as it pays well right if you're gonna incur the risk of space pirates and
[SPEAKER_07]: But yeah, let us know in the comments if your job exists in the Mass Effect Universe, and if you'd even want that job in the Mass Effect Universe, or which job you'd want. [SPEAKER_07]: But this has been a really fun Magister Retrobot. [SPEAKER_07]: Thank you both for, of course, supporting the show and for tonight for a really fun discussion.
[SPEAKER_04]: Guys, have anything that you want to shout out or plug? [SPEAKER_04]: Magister? [SPEAKER_04]: Anything to shout out or plug? [SPEAKER_05]: Nothing at the scarring time, no, but it's always a pleasure to come on with the Mass Effect crew and talk about the latest news and we'll rather listen about the latest news and having our random discussions.
[SPEAKER_05]: So, thank you for having me. [SPEAKER_07]: Awesome. [SPEAKER_07]: Redra, Bobby? [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, I'm just redra but on the discord if you want to talk about Mass Effect or [SPEAKER_06]: interested in combat medicine. [SPEAKER_06]: I could talk a bit more about that. [SPEAKER_06]: I did post a chain of command chart that I made for Mass Effect trying to understand the weird kind of layout of the Alliance military.
[SPEAKER_06]: That's in the discord or you just hit me up if you want to copy of it. [SPEAKER_06]: Otherwise, I'm just busy of work. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_07]: All right, awesome. [SPEAKER_07]: And that reminds me of an episode of the Mass Effect lore cast that I'm kind of working on behind the scenes.
[SPEAKER_07]: I was hoping to get this together before our mistress day that we could get a bunch of veterans or active service members, doesn't have to be active duty, but active service members and veterans to do kind of a roundtable because I've noticed something about the Mass Effect fandom. [SPEAKER_07]: And it's that there are a lot.
[SPEAKER_07]: of service members who like this game. [SPEAKER_07]: So kind of getting together and trying to drill into why that might be an exam in some of the themes that resonate or don't resonate with those of us who have served in the military. [SPEAKER_07]: So all right with that, I think that's all we got until next week's Specters when we pick that up on Paul Grace and Story in Mass Effect Retribution.
[SPEAKER_07]: Genesis, do you have anything that you'd like to shout out or plug before we go? [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, if you're in the Portland area and are here in mid-October, I am doing a panel at the Portland Retro Gaming Expo. [SPEAKER_04]: So I would love to see anybody out there. [SPEAKER_04]: Go ahead and send me any questions over Discord if you are able to attend.
[SPEAKER_04]: If not, you can catch me on my two other shows, the two girls, one ship podcast, and the cyberpunk lorecast. [SPEAKER_07]: Wow, they're still moving forward with a gaming Expo. [SPEAKER_07]: I heard that there was a war going on in Portland [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, yes, all things are still planned as normal.
[SPEAKER_07]: All right. [SPEAKER_07]: Well, I will perhaps be there at that exact gamey expo, but we will see because that is dependent on a number of personal life factors. [SPEAKER_07]: I am planning to start resuming streaming very soon and They will be late night streams. [SPEAKER_07]: So if you're a night owl like me, I want to go by my twitch channel in seven legend to give me a follow I am working on a consistent schedule and I will let everyone know what that is On my blue sky account if again if I have a social media It's at in seven legend until next time specters we should go [SPEAKER_07]: Thanks for listening to the Mass Effect War Test.
