[SPEAKER_05]: I'm Commander Sheppard, and this is my favorite lorecast on the Citadel. [SPEAKER_04]: Welcome to the Mass Effect lorecast. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm in seven the legend. [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm Genesis. [SPEAKER_01]: Join us. [SPEAKER_03]: As we explore along tides of light. [SPEAKER_03]: And through sholes of dust.
[SPEAKER_03]: To see where this lore began. [SPEAKER_01]: And consider where it may go. [SPEAKER_04]: Specters, hello and welcome to the final lore episode of the Mass Effect Lord Cast of 2025. [SPEAKER_04]: I am your host in seven the legend and joining me as always is Genesis. [SPEAKER_04]: Genesis, are you feeling festive?
[SPEAKER_04]: Have you decked to the halls? [SPEAKER_01]: The Christmas trees up at my mom's house and we plan on putting up the ornaments this weekend. [SPEAKER_01]: So we're getting there. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, all right. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm feeling somewhat festive as well. [SPEAKER_04]: We need to go get some eggnog and perhaps some old wine.
[SPEAKER_04]: I have eggnog. [SPEAKER_04]: I don't like alcoholic eggnog. [SPEAKER_04]: That sounds gross to me. [SPEAKER_04]: If I'm trying to get a buzz, I'm not trying to do it with 8,000 calories. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no, mine's not alcoholic eggnog, but it's also got pumpkin additional pumpkin spice in it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Really good. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay, so you can heat it up, make a pumpkin spice eggnog latte at home. [SPEAKER_01]: Ooh, that sounds delicious. [SPEAKER_04]: Get a vomit thinking about it. [SPEAKER_04]: Anyway, no, this is not we're not doing the lore of pumpkin spice or egg nog today. [SPEAKER_04]: We are talking about a pretty little known movie related story in the Mass Effect universe.
[SPEAKER_04]: And when we stumbled upon this arc on server-stailing news network, we thought [SPEAKER_04]: Okay. [SPEAKER_04]: The movie aspect, it's literally about cinema and film. [SPEAKER_04]: The movie aspect is kind of perfect for the holiday season, because so many different blockbusters come out during this time of year, because that's when people go to the movies, the most I guess.
[SPEAKER_04]: But Genesis, what do you want to talk about? [SPEAKER_04]: How you felt when you first found this as well? [SPEAKER_01]: So I was really confused, it looked like a really basic one shot article, you know, talking about like this super bowl and everything like that and then I just continued reading through and then I was like, this storyline continues on for a total of 10 articles.
[SPEAKER_01]: we had less than that on so the other topics that we have covered and so I was really interested on why and how this storyline gets to continue on for so long and then I read third and I'm like okay we definitely have to talk about this one and it's so fitting that it's today on the day that we were recording being December 18th.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, and that is fitting because the third avatar movie is coming out tomorrow, right? [SPEAKER_04]: And the first avatar movie came out through, uh, wow, holy crap. [SPEAKER_04]: 16, let's like doing the math. [SPEAKER_04]: 16 years ago today, right? [SPEAKER_04]: So 2009, um, think, keep up, keep that in mind.
[SPEAKER_04]: 2009 is when this came out [SPEAKER_04]: And the first dispatch that we get in this server stale news arc is the following February. [SPEAKER_04]: So three months later. [SPEAKER_04]: And it's okay. [SPEAKER_04]: So this starts as kind of a curveball. [SPEAKER_04]: uh... however it's also going to be timely because super ball uh... playoffs and super ball is coming up well here we have canonized that uh... american football is still being played by the way in twenty one eighty five and the new york giants are apparently still a team however they're still winning they beat the Beijing dragons [SPEAKER_04]: 24 to 19 in Super Bowl.
[SPEAKER_04]: Did you say this one's two two hundred nineteen, right? [SPEAKER_04]: Two hundred nineteen. [SPEAKER_04]: And it says quote, earth nations gathered around their vidsets today for Super Bowl two to one two hundred nineteen. [SPEAKER_04]: I'll get that right. [SPEAKER_04]: An annual sporting and media event that culminates the North American Union rules football season.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, so it's not just NFL now, it's North American Union rules for ball season. [SPEAKER_04]: The New York Giants defied expectations and took down the Beijing Dragons in a tight 24-19 game. [SPEAKER_04]: The highlight was a 69-yard pass, nice. [SPEAKER_04]: From Crogan quarterback. [SPEAKER_04]: Break Us Thool.
[SPEAKER_04]: The game's top three hit commercials where all-dren labs, hilarious, improvise, unethersed, coffee, cola, rock and rolla, and binary helix's not my future, thanks. [SPEAKER_04]: As for the greatest teas, it goes to the trailer for the soon-to-be summer blockbuster Nikki Akorador, which since sports fans to the extra net trying to find out what the hell Nikki Akor was, doesn't say hell, it says heck, but that's my own flavor.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, so a few things here, let's go back a second, with a little bit of a broken quarterback. [SPEAKER_01]: Right, the rogan quarterback playing in the North American union rules football. [SPEAKER_01]: I want to see this game so much, like first of all, a 69 yard pass. [SPEAKER_01]: That's really good for starters.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, nice. [SPEAKER_04]: It's not really good unheard of. [SPEAKER_04]: Like, I'm imagining that not only is it like, okay, so it's not like a 69 yard pass where the ball was only in the air for 20 yards and then there was like 49 yards after reception. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm imagining because it was a Crogan quarterback, he literally heaved that ball, 69 yards in the air.
[SPEAKER_04]: And then it was caught. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, no, and so it would be so interesting to watch this and the Beijing dragons. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so now we know that, you know, it's, it's everybody is universal or it's world-wide playing in the football. [SPEAKER_01]: I want to know if the rules have been updated.
[SPEAKER_01]: I want to know if the field is bigger. [SPEAKER_01]: Now that we're at what now that we have enhanced abilities on the fleet on the field. [SPEAKER_01]: and imagining a frog in just tackling like a human. [SPEAKER_04]: That would result in injuries every play like what the hell what kind of actually now that I think about it maybe they have like some kind of futuristic football pads that activate mass effect fields to compensate for differences and weight of the players.
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_04]: that that would be kind of cool if they could like compensate for weight differentials in all of the players to kind of like a level the playing field. [SPEAKER_04]: However, that would really disincentivize working out. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, you still have to have stamina no matter what your cardio's got to be up there.
[SPEAKER_04]: Um, I can imagine though there would be a lot of protesters who'd be like, why the hell are we letting Crogan and play in a sport with all humans? [SPEAKER_04]: Got that. [SPEAKER_04]: That's a little bit too close to home. [SPEAKER_04]: A little bit. [SPEAKER_04]: A little bit apropos.
[SPEAKER_04]: Um, they were way ahead of the curve in Cerberus daily news, writers in 2010, but I can imagine that a lot of people would be like, this isn't fair. [SPEAKER_04]: The Crogan need their own league. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I mean, unless it's multiple programs on each side of the team, and in that case, you know, it's a little bit of a more even playing field.
[SPEAKER_04]: Maybe you can only have one Krogan on field at a time by the way for anyone that like listens to that and goes does he know what he just said yes I know what I just said a league of their own reference is what I was intending with the Krogan comet because that is the way that bigoted protesters would be.
[SPEAKER_01]: So I, so I can't believe I missed that one. [SPEAKER_01]: My job, I love that movie. [SPEAKER_04]: It's a great movie. [SPEAKER_04]: But um, okay, so I also want to back up and just note like as kind of like a fourth wall breaking thing, this text that was literally in Cerber Staley News says verbatim Super Bowl.
[SPEAKER_04]: I was pretty sure that Super Bowl was a trademarked phrase because in my journalism days, we were never allowed to say on the air or print Super Bowl even in the news article or the news when talking about it, when we're like, let's say, let's say, for example, there was a recall on chicken fingers, right?
[SPEAKER_04]: We could not get cute in the script writing and say, well, I think twice before you head to the grocery store and stock up for the Super Bowl, we could not get cute like that. [SPEAKER_04]: You can't say that. [SPEAKER_04]: We would always be advised, just say, before stocking up for the big game.
[SPEAKER_04]: The big game, because only I think only, um, was it, was only Fox or CBS, only one of the [SPEAKER_04]: And I'm pretty sure, yeah, the NFL has also trademarked on game day, I guess that's a retro bot says and come anyway. [SPEAKER_04]: I just want to back up and be like, server-stately news apparently in 2010, they were allowed to say Super Bowl, so maybe that's before the NFL had trademarked it, or maybe they just weren't as litigious back then.
[SPEAKER_01]: That one I have no answer for, but it's also not the NFL Super Bowl, and it is spaced out [SPEAKER_04]: Right, I don't know. [SPEAKER_04]: Is it one word or is it two? [SPEAKER_04]: Superb owl. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, let's see. [SPEAKER_04]: It is two. [SPEAKER_04]: It is two. [SPEAKER_04]: So, um, interesting, uh, so anyway, that's just my like kind of like interesting note there, uh, besides that and like the three people who care, uh, the advertisements are still a big hit.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah, I mean that's why most of us end up watching the Super Bowl is even if the game is laying me know the commercials are going to be awesome and apparently they still are. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, apparently they are, yeah, especially binary helix is not my future. [SPEAKER_04]: Thanks.
[SPEAKER_04]: So anyway, that's like kind of the most indirect entrance into this arc that could possibly imagine. [SPEAKER_04]: Because right there at the end, it says the greatest tease was for that movie, a soon to be summer blockbuster Nikita corridor. [SPEAKER_04]: So what do we hear more about Nikita corridor?
[SPEAKER_01]: This is where the story truly starts to get interesting. [SPEAKER_01]: So we've got a couple weeks later, Star of Nakea, Corridor, struck by lightning while filming on location. [SPEAKER_04]: Shocking details, it'll happen. [SPEAKER_01]: filming of the space epic Nikija corridor took a turn for the worst today as lightning struck the leading man.
[SPEAKER_01]: Nathan Gold, star of the five point one billion credit so far enterprise, was strapped to the surface of a spaceship in the upper atmosphere of a gas giant when lightning hit the hull. [SPEAKER_01]: Wow. [SPEAKER_04]: I guess you can see that performance was electric. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god, we're gonna have so many puns tonight guys, strapping, now insulated against most of the effect.
[SPEAKER_01]: The golden one had his suits, electronics, sweet, fried, and had to signal for assistance to get oxygen. [SPEAKER_01]: director Morgan Beerster said that he hopes the footage will stay in the final cut of the film. [SPEAKER_01]: Quote, you can't make up stuff like this, says Beerster. [SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be a once in a lifetime sensation.
[SPEAKER_04]: Ah, have I heard that one before, but we don't need to get into that story. [SPEAKER_04]: So when you said you can't make stuff like this up. [SPEAKER_04]: I really thought that like given the circumstances that he got hit by lightning But his suits of electronics suite was fried and He was out of oxygen apparently couldn't get oxygen.
[SPEAKER_04]: I thought that the director was gonna say you can't make stuff like this up [SPEAKER_01]: But then it also happens again very soon, you know, assistance for oxygen from somebody floating in space. [SPEAKER_01]: Hmm. [SPEAKER_01]: Is that already happened? [SPEAKER_01]: At this point in the timeline.
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, oh, yes. [SPEAKER_04]: This has already happened. [SPEAKER_04]: This was in 2183. [SPEAKER_04]: That was just a few months after the battle of the Citadel. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, so this has already happened. [SPEAKER_04]: You're referencing Shepherd getting spaced, right?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: So yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: So this actor Nathan gold got hit by lightning and that was like during the filming and I love that they say on location because they weren't in the upper atmosphere. [SPEAKER_04]: Let's address that too. [SPEAKER_04]: The fact that they are now filming movies literally in space.
[SPEAKER_04]: That is so cool, but also I wonder technologically how that could work, because cameras rely on the entrance and the way that light enters the lens. [SPEAKER_04]: In space with no atmosphere, depending on where the sun is, your shot is going to look weird as hell, and maybe not what you intend.
[SPEAKER_04]: But yeah, I can imagine the lightning also totally wrecked the exposure. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but apparently he wants to keep it in the final cut. [SPEAKER_01]: It'll look great. [SPEAKER_04]: I guess, yeah, well, it does seem the upper atmosphere. [SPEAKER_04]: So they weren't actually an orbit of a gas giant.
[SPEAKER_04]: I should correct myself. [SPEAKER_04]: So they were in the atmosphere. [SPEAKER_04]: So that would, that would still work. [SPEAKER_04]: Still really cool. [SPEAKER_04]: This sounds like the most badass mission impossible, movie that you could do. [SPEAKER_01]: This is very much sounds like a Tom Cruise thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, he would totally be the one to actually strap himself to the surface of a spaceship in order to get the best shot possible. [SPEAKER_04]: Then afterward, going to speaking toward about the movie, jump up and down on Ari's couch. [SPEAKER_01]: I would love to see that. [SPEAKER_01]: I would love to see the Ari I roll on that one.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my gosh. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm in love with the R accrues. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm in love with the R accrues. [SPEAKER_04]: That's such an old reference at this point. [SPEAKER_04]: All right. [SPEAKER_04]: So the next entry we get in terms of Nikia corridor is that the principal photography on it has been ceased like it stopped.
[SPEAKER_04]: So it's as principal photography on the space epic Nikia corridor came to a halt today as the leading lady Kate first. [SPEAKER_04]: Anyway, leading lady Kate first walked off the set, phone footage of her tantrum has hit the extra net, and Helmer? [SPEAKER_04]: What does this mean Helmer?
[SPEAKER_04]: The pilot? [SPEAKER_04]: Is that what it means? [SPEAKER_01]: No, he's the director. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, I've never heard it referred to as a Helmer. [SPEAKER_01]: He's Helming the ship. [SPEAKER_01]: He's directing it, I guess? [SPEAKER_04]: I guess so and it says okay so phone footage of her tantrum has hit the extra net and Helmer Morgan Beerster says it isn't just another fake reality eyeball grabber quote if we wanted free marketing she'd have been nagging us naked he quipped yeah yeah that's nice the fuck does that you want to [SPEAKER_04]: It sounds like Morgan is kind of having a Freudian slip over there, I don't know.
[SPEAKER_04]: But scribe Eddie Carbedy, amazing name, by the way, Eddie Carbedy, holy crap. [SPEAKER_04]: scribe Eddie Carbedy has reportedly been brought in to do rewrites to the script in order to sue the savage starlet. [SPEAKER_04]: I know whoever wrote this was very proud of themselves, for writing that phrase.
[SPEAKER_04]: To suit the savage starland. [SPEAKER_04]: That sounds like a phrase that a former print reporter would write in their headline and then be very proud of themselves. [SPEAKER_04]: Carbeddy got the gig after the 28th script, draft, gave former writer Stan Kerbus, permanent nerve damage in the wrists.
[SPEAKER_04]: He'd better hurry, in three days, the leases up on the Mass Effect relay they're using as [SPEAKER_01]: So much talk about in there. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, 28 script drafts. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't, I mean, I assume that that's a lot. [SPEAKER_01]: I assume that rewriting in the entire movie probably three or four times, maybe.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know how that aspect of it works, but permanent nerve damage in your wrist. [SPEAKER_01]: Buddy, get you a wrist little support system. [SPEAKER_01]: Get something to protect yourself. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, but also let's talk about the fact that apparently phones are still canon and that's fact because it says phone footage of her tantrum, not omnitool footage, I know that's probably just a copywriting mistake like the editor who ever edited this probably looked that over, didn't realize it like [SPEAKER_04]: You know, needs to be in the universe a little bit more, but I'm also going to, for the sake of being a facetious little asshole, I'm going to say that phone footage is canon and phones do exist in mass fact in twenty one eighty five.
[SPEAKER_01]: I agree with you on that one because I feel like it's not the only reference to a phone. [SPEAKER_01]: I will do more research on this, but I swear that there are other communication devices beyond just them holding their fingers up to their ears. [SPEAKER_04]: as cool as that looks um so okay so apparently they went through so many rewrites just to um to play Kate Kate first what a name uh and this is after someone already got hit by lightning while in orbit filming yeah [SPEAKER_01]: It's, it's very, very strange.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm loving kind of the drama surrounding this movie so far. [SPEAKER_01]: Could we also talk about the fact that they were able to lease a Mass Effect Relay? [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, what the fuck? [SPEAKER_04]: Sorry, you know, drop the F-bomb on that one because like, do you understand that like, if you lease a Mass Effect Relay, the liability that comes with that?
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, does that completely shut it down? [SPEAKER_01]: Our no ships allowed to use the relay while you have at least out to you? [SPEAKER_01]: Are you now stopping vitals resources from getting to where they need to go just because you wanted to film there? [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, there's so much, we don't know which relay.
[SPEAKER_01]: So we don't know what part of space they're in or maybe it's one that's not used very often. [SPEAKER_01]: But I mean, also on the other hand, that's gonna be some really good footage. [SPEAKER_04]: Imagine being on the other side of that relay and needing to get where they are. [SPEAKER_04]: That would be a pain, but also I was gonna say like the liability that comes with that because Imagine they make a mistake while filming some pyrotechnics or something and they somehow blow up the relay.
[SPEAKER_04]: I was gonna say that Then I realized [SPEAKER_04]: that that has not happened ever in the lore at least to this cycles knowledge to this cycles knowledge that has never not ever happened so they shouldn't have reason to believe that it could happen right? [SPEAKER_01]: right randomly blowing up a relay or it getting damaged from something as simple as a minor explosion inside of it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I bet you I want I wonder if there are keepers on the relays. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't do we know the answer to that? [SPEAKER_01]: Probably. [SPEAKER_01]: So it's all down the citadel. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: It looks, honestly, it doesn't look like there's really any way to get inside a Mass Effect relay.
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't really know, though. [SPEAKER_04]: If someone can correct me, I'd love that. [SPEAKER_04]: But I wouldn't be surprised if there's like a bunch of keepers just inside every relay because apparently they don't need to eat or anything or sleep. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I feel like there is lore in about the relay and what can go on in there.
[SPEAKER_01]: But I don't want to get too sidetracked on that because we actually do still have a lot to talk about with this movie. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, we do. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay, so where do we go next with the filming? [SPEAKER_04]: Does it get past the savage starlets soothing, [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: So, after her tantrum, they were able to wrap the principal photography.
[SPEAKER_01]: Principal photography wrapped on Niki Akoridor. [SPEAKER_01]: The troubled space epic from Morgan Bierster that had officially reached the benchmark of the most expensive, simulestim ever. [SPEAKER_01]: Champagne flowed freely on the set for one hour before technicians move to strike the equipment and actors reported to the audio room for over-dubbing work.
[SPEAKER_01]: Bearster predicts a long post-production process. [SPEAKER_01]: quote, we've got over 3,000 effect shots to Simon Stim, but I am confident that they'll come out at the quality of picture like this deserves. [SPEAKER_01]: And quote, asked if more setbacks could sink the project now, he responded, quote, any delay now would have to be due to an act of [SPEAKER_04]: By the way, he and his are capitalized, so again, we already knew that Catholicism still existed in the Mass Effect universe in 283, but again, we have canonized that humans, at least, do still believe in like a Abrahamic Judeo-Christian God.
[SPEAKER_01]: singular big g god. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: So interesting there. [SPEAKER_04]: Also the first time I've ever seen Simon's simuel stem, Simon's stem, as a word. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Is that supposed to be like [SPEAKER_01]: So, it does talk about this a little bit later I believe that you get, it's like smell of vision.
[SPEAKER_01]: You get a little bit of sensation while watching the movie. [SPEAKER_01]: You get to feel some of the things that are going on, and I think it's enhanced sensory. [SPEAKER_04]: So they, uh, there were viewers are not lying when they said that their hairs were standing on end, watching Nathan Gold get electrocuted.
[SPEAKER_04]: Not sure I want that, um, but wow, this, okay, so you remember how we mentioned Avatar at the very beginning? [SPEAKER_04]: At this point, it's the most expensive blockbuster to ever release [SPEAKER_04]: and they released the server as daily news, you know, three months after, um, Avatar in 2009 released, Avatar was of course one of the most expensive movies that was ever produced by James Cameron.
[SPEAKER_04]: It was also one of the highest grossing, right? [SPEAKER_04]: I don't know if it still holds that title. [SPEAKER_04]: It's definitely still up there. [SPEAKER_04]: But this is, this is a direct joke about Avatar. [SPEAKER_01]: It absolutely is. [SPEAKER_01]: Or at least that's the way that I feel about it.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, it's the highest cost movie to produce the highest money made in the movie. [SPEAKER_01]: And then they're talking about adding all these special effects and things afterwards. [SPEAKER_01]: And of course, Avatar is all about the sexy blue alien. [SPEAKER_01]: Hello, Lyara. [SPEAKER_04]: Hello.
[SPEAKER_04]: Didn't even think about that. [SPEAKER_04]: I was never quite attracted to Nateri as cool as her little [SPEAKER_04]: a little ponytail thing that has like a nervous system and to it is, I don't want to think too much about that. [SPEAKER_04]: But yeah, this is definitely an avatar joke because actually I remember in 2009 when Avatar came out, they were still showing 3D movies in the theater back then.
[SPEAKER_04]: Do you remember that? [SPEAKER_01]: I did. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I went and saw it in 3D and theators within the first couple of weeks that it came out. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: So the Simon Stim thing here is like another like, yeah, they're definitely referencing all the special effects, all the CGI, everything that went with Avatar back in the day.
[SPEAKER_04]: So they finished filming on the Kia corridor. [SPEAKER_04]: And it's the most expensive space epic, blah, blah. [SPEAKER_04]: Let's see how post-production goes, so we get an update that post-production on the mega. [SPEAKER_04]: Now it's called a mega cymbal stem, Nikita Cordor, may be the latest casualty of the valam blast.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, before I keep going, I'm actually gonna read a little bit from the Mass Effect Wiki right here for everyone who's not familiar with the Valam Blast because we have not covered this on the lower cast yet. [SPEAKER_04]: So this goes back to the Turing, [SPEAKER_04]: Civil War, I guess you call the, the, the, there was a Turing separatist group known as the, as fascinist.
[SPEAKER_04]: Anyway, they blew up a ship at near FTL speeds into the heart of the capital of the colony on Tetris. [SPEAKER_04]: The capital's name is Vellum. [SPEAKER_04]: That's basically what all you need to know for the background here. [SPEAKER_04]: We'll definitely cover that part in a future episode, but just know that post-production on this film on this cymbal stem was the latest casualty of that terrorist deck.
[SPEAKER_04]: One of these Sims major scenes involves a love-loorn pilot committing suicide by flying a ship into a city at FTL speeds. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay, I can see how this is problematic. [SPEAKER_04]: Asked if this would remain in the final cut, director Morgan Beerster replied, you'll have to wait and see.
[SPEAKER_04]: But added, the project deals head on with themes of death. [SPEAKER_04]: The title's Nakia is actually a Greek word, the best translation for an assari tradition asking for guidance from the dead. [SPEAKER_04]: We're not about to ruin it all with some exploitative sequence. [SPEAKER_04]: It would be tasteless to further traumatize those hurt by this tragedy.
[SPEAKER_04]: His actions back up these words, the Sims cast and crew have started a charity called Recovery Corridor. [SPEAKER_04]: That's a little bit in poor taste, but Recovery Corridor, to collect donations for the families of those devastated by the blast. [SPEAKER_04]: And so my communications background is screaming at me to mention that recovery corridor probably the worst use of language you could use because when search and rescue efforts [SPEAKER_04]: are halted because officials believe that victims, there are no victims who are alive, they say that we have switched from search and rescue to a recovery effort, meaning they are trying to recover the bodies.
[SPEAKER_04]: So recovery corridor probably a horrible use of words. [SPEAKER_04]: For the author who wrote this server's daily news article, they definitely know that and I appreciate the pun. [SPEAKER_01]: I like the fact that they, I like what the director said about it though, like you'll have to wait and see, okay, that sounds bad, but then he's explaining that the movie deals a lot with death, but we're also not going to be exploited to have about it.
[SPEAKER_01]: you know, we're not going to push things to where it looks like we're mocking or making fun of or trying to, you know, sensationalize this real life tragedy. [SPEAKER_01]: And so the fact that he's talking about it this way. [SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, a charity with not the best name, but at least they started it, at least they're doing something.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yep. [SPEAKER_04]: At least they're doing something. [SPEAKER_04]: I also feel like this is such a specific reference that there is an unintentionally replicated sequence of events that it mimics a contemporary terrorist attack in the Milky Way universe that just happened. [SPEAKER_04]: That feels so hyper specific that it has to have drawn on a real world event or something that happened in a film after such a terrorist attack when the filming was done before the attack, but then right before they put it out, you know, something happened like that in real life.
[SPEAKER_04]: I cannot for the life of me put my finger on such an instance, but I'm pretty sure it's happened. [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, I'm not a terrorist attack, but the movie contagion that talked about a deadly virus, killing out most of the population was filmed in early 2019, set for release in 2020.
[SPEAKER_04]: Was it really that late? [SPEAKER_04]: I thought that was a earlier movie than that, but wow. [SPEAKER_01]: There was a movie about a flu-like viral epidemic that hit worldwide, and it was right within that timeframe. [SPEAKER_01]: It might not have been contagion. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, man, talk about apropos.
[SPEAKER_04]: That's a lot better than the example I was thinking of, which was the dark fan theory that Kermit has caused 9-11. [SPEAKER_04]: Have you heard that? [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: oh well go look it up uh listeners of your curious about it go look it up there's a funny fan theory that Kermit calls 911 because of a muppets uh basically the the sequence in which a muppets thing was filmed and how it how it correlates to 2001 uh but anyway this film has run into [SPEAKER_04]: uncanny coincidences you know what I mean let all of them just hitting and setting back the films production if I were the director I'm I'm just like get this shit out like just fucking finish it put the film out I don't want it anymore like
[SPEAKER_04]: You know what I mean? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot of little weird things going on with this movie, and that's why it's so interesting. [SPEAKER_01]: I want to know more, like, does this when does this movie actually come out? [SPEAKER_01]: Because we're already the one that you read was posted in May, and we started in February.
[SPEAKER_01]: So they teased it in February, and they're just now getting to starting post-production [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, that's a rapid production, isn't it? [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, like, holy cow, three months. [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I think we should probably give by or a little bit of credit here because they probably were thinking in universe timeline.
[SPEAKER_04]: It makes more sense than three months to put together an entire movie, somehow they put out a tease before they finished filming. [SPEAKER_04]: I don't, I mean, I guess you could do that, but I would imagine that's not actually standard. [SPEAKER_04]: Anyway, we have an entire second half of this episode to go through with how this unfolds in the Kia corridor, and I promise you don't know how this is going to go.
[SPEAKER_04]: So, let's go over to the midbrake, and we'll be right back. [SPEAKER_09]: We have beef, bacon, we have beer, the foods of my people. [SPEAKER_06]: Young men have funny ideas of what a story are like. [SPEAKER_06]: I blame the extra net, and computer games. [SPEAKER_00]: Rex, Shepherd, Grant, Shepherd, Rex.
[SPEAKER_04]: Alright, here we are in the middle of the show where we read out your five-star reviews that you can leave on Apple podcasts or audible number of other places But we don't have any from those other places this week. [SPEAKER_04]: However, we got some comments on our most recent Lourkast episode up on Spotify and Here I'll go ahead and read the first one from ash.
[SPEAKER_04]: I think this pronounced ash car [SPEAKER_04]: That says, what if the power did not fail on ILOs, and Vigil did not have to shut down the protein life pots? [SPEAKER_04]: Would there have been enough proteins alive to repopulate? [SPEAKER_04]: Would they have built the crucible while the reapers were still in their slumber and dark space?
[SPEAKER_04]: Would they have guided humans the same way they did the Asari? [SPEAKER_04]: So many possibilities. [SPEAKER_04]: I love this comment, Oscar, and maybe we'll have to cover this in a future what if episode of the lore cast? [SPEAKER_01]: I like that. [SPEAKER_01]: What if the power didn't fail on ILOs?
[SPEAKER_01]: And so we're talking like after the reapers had left for the cycle and all the proteins were brought back online, how that would have changed things? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that would change everything. [SPEAKER_04]: If there were hundreds, hundreds of proteins, maybe thousands, by the time our cycle comes around, because then if it's just one planet, it's hard to think that they would want to become so high profile, but they would become like the reaper to be like, oh shit, we miss something.
[SPEAKER_04]: So they probably wouldn't dominate the galaxy again. [SPEAKER_04]: Anyway, I'm going to save my thoughts on that for the future episode where we cover it. [SPEAKER_04]: But thank you, Oscar, for that comment. [SPEAKER_04]: And Genesis, I think we got a couple more if you want to read them.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, one from the architect. [SPEAKER_01]: I would be interested in a what if warlord or key or key are survived and was successful in carrying the genophage or crogan cloning. [SPEAKER_01]: a million little grunts running around. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, man. [SPEAKER_04]: I feel like that would become real bad.
[SPEAKER_04]: And then that instance, there might be a lot more people who sympathize with the Dallas dress. [SPEAKER_01]: I, I would agree, oh, I mean, hearing the genophage is one thing, but raising an army of grunts is different because Shepherd is the one to help mold and shapes grunts morality compass.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, that is a good one. [SPEAKER_01]: All right, I will save my thoughts. [SPEAKER_04]: Great. [SPEAKER_04]: What if? [SPEAKER_04]: Um, and there's one more from Dev and Pierce who says, what if the other Turian Specter, Nailus, did not die on an even prime for both Shepard does and doesn't touch the beacon possibilities.
[SPEAKER_04]: Also for the audio clip, I just heard Warf, and that's as far as I got. [SPEAKER_04]: That's referencing the voice line that we did last week in speaking of which, Genesis, you have a pop quiz voice line for me, the title of the file that you've given me is Turian Love. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay, I don't know where this is going.
[SPEAKER_01]: Not what you think. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay, I hope. [SPEAKER_04]: Anyway, let's give it a listen. [SPEAKER_00]: Glad to hear it. [SPEAKER_00]: I was losing sleep over the prospect of people not loving the Terrians. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay, so that's Rex, for sure. [SPEAKER_04]: That's Rex. [SPEAKER_04]: That's gotta be an elevator conversation and mass effect one.
[SPEAKER_01]: Ah, you're too good at this one. [SPEAKER_01]: Was it? [SPEAKER_04]: Was I right? [SPEAKER_04]: Oh man, nice. [SPEAKER_04]: I wasn't actually totally sure, but here I'll play it again. [SPEAKER_04]: I'll tell you why I said that. [SPEAKER_00]: Glad to hear it. [SPEAKER_00]: I was losing sleep over the prospect of people not loving the Terrians.
[SPEAKER_04]: So you hear that like little hum in the background? [SPEAKER_04]: Like, I knew it was either in the vehicle bay of the Normandy, or in an elevator, but because there was such a long pause and no one else was talking, I was like, that's got to be an elevator ride. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, dang, okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: I normally cut the pauses. [SPEAKER_01]: I will do better on editing the little files I send you. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, no, no, no, you don't need to edit them at all. [SPEAKER_04]: In fact, I think it's best when they're not edited. [SPEAKER_04]: I haven't been editing mine anyway. [SPEAKER_04]: But I'm glad that I got that one.
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't think we have any new patrons to shout out or do we. [SPEAKER_04]: Let me just make double sure on that one. [SPEAKER_04]: Um, we do not, we do not have any new patrons to shout out, but if you'd like to support the show, uh, you can, and if you're able and willing, we do have a Patreon, you can go to, uh, short of that, honestly, the best way that you can support our show is telling your friends about it.
[SPEAKER_04]: If you got friends that are into Mass Effect, and they're on the road, commuting to work, or whatever, just be like, hey, I found a podcast, I think you might like. [SPEAKER_04]: give it a listen. [SPEAKER_04]: If you hate their guts, send them a very nasty email on which you accuse in seven legend of sounding like a volus.
[SPEAKER_04]: I'll never forget that one. [SPEAKER_04]: Anyway, thank you to everyone who does support us on the Patreon. [SPEAKER_04]: Seriously, you guys are lifesavers and you allow us to keep doing this. [SPEAKER_04]: Especially our tier five patrons, including Buds Buds Buds. [SPEAKER_04]: Unfortunately, a benefactor, William, Superfly 440, Retrobot, Lieutenant Tocino, Kira-C, and Ed Boy.
[SPEAKER_04]: Thank you all so much for your continued support, and with that, let's get back with the rest of the show. [SPEAKER_07]: After time adrift among open stars, alongside the light and through shows of dust, I will return to where I began. [SPEAKER_08]: Sellerian reproduction, different, very little sex drive.
[SPEAKER_08]: If intended to try human, would try you. [SPEAKER_08]: out my bakeries. [SPEAKER_04]: All right, here we are, we're back and it is red carpet time because Nikki Accordor is premiering in none other than the big apple. [SPEAKER_04]: It was a star-and-studded night in New York City as the long-awaited space epic in a key accordor held its premiere at the Royal Simul Cinema 189 in the East Village.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, this is kind of funny, like because for anyone who has like some kind of knowledge about New York City, of course this would be in the East Village. [SPEAKER_04]: Uh, but all right, it says light and shadow pictures spared no expense as the red carpet took the hote couture a lot. [SPEAKER_04]: I hope I said that right.
[SPEAKER_04]: I've never known how to say that. [SPEAKER_04]: Actually, I've always read that. [SPEAKER_01]: Hote tour. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, there we go. [SPEAKER_04]: Hote couture along a bridge of carbon nanotubes over an eerie pit of holographic ghosts. [SPEAKER_04]: What the hell is this movie about?
[SPEAKER_01]: So it's interesting because the word Nikea is actually the root form of the word necromancy like that's how far back it goes. [SPEAKER_04]: Whoa, I didn't know this. [SPEAKER_04]: Did you like do some like Wikipedia rabbit holding to get that? [SPEAKER_01]: I did. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I figured it sounded like the production of a 1230 AM Wikipedia rabbit hole.
[SPEAKER_04]: So, all right. [SPEAKER_04]: So they've got a bridge of carbon nanotubes, which I can only imagine what that looks like, over an eerie pit of holographic ghosts. [SPEAKER_04]: Uh, what is this movie about? [SPEAKER_04]: Anyway, A-Listers were everywhere. [SPEAKER_04]: Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha [SPEAKER_04]: Hmm, love that.
[SPEAKER_04]: Even Lisa Ford stopped by. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay, Ford, as in... [SPEAKER_04]: Ford versus Huerta that kind of that arc with the North American political arc. [SPEAKER_04]: Anyway, we'll cover that in different series of episodes. [SPEAKER_04]: The speaker's district was home to 11 of the sound stages used in the film.
[SPEAKER_04]: So that's why Ford is there. [SPEAKER_04]: That's why Lisa Ford's there. [SPEAKER_04]: Leading Lady Kate first was on hand with her life partner. [SPEAKER_04]: It's funny because it's such a product of 2010 and even before to refer to someone as a life partner. [SPEAKER_04]: Leading Lady Kate first was on hand with her life partner, Alina, Alina, Elena, Elena, Renetia.
[SPEAKER_04]: Lightning rod leading Mayan Nathan Gold made only a video appearance from his hospital bed, now I'm kidding, doesn't say that. [SPEAKER_04]: Made only a video appearance as he was on Thesia for the simultaneous Uceru premiere. [SPEAKER_04]: Director, Morgan Beerster commented, we're excited and exhausted.
[SPEAKER_04]: The sims have been getting fabulous buzz in the pirate community, excuse me? [SPEAKER_04]: Fabulous buzz in the pirate community, and it's great to be here and give the glitter-oddy their turn. [SPEAKER_04]: We've got four hours to go, and then we'll know if I should cut my wrists or not.
[SPEAKER_04]: Holy shit! [SPEAKER_04]: Jesus! [SPEAKER_01]: I think what he means by the pirate community is people who have illegally downloaded his movie first. [SPEAKER_01]: And yes, yes, not like, no blackeners going on here. [SPEAKER_01]: But no, this is amazing. [SPEAKER_01]: This is obviously a huge red carpet.
[SPEAKER_01]: And we've seen a red carpets in the Citadel DLC. [SPEAKER_01]: So we know that the paparazzi still love taking their pictures. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's what this is all about continuing the buzz and going to go see the movie. [SPEAKER_01]: That's a, that last line. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, that's also some 2010 edgy humor right there.
[SPEAKER_04]: That's what that is. [SPEAKER_04]: That's, that's, um, All right, guys, I'm not telling you to go see my movie, but if you don't go see it, then, um, I'm taking the express lane downstairs from the 25th floor if you catch my drift. [SPEAKER_04]: Because the floor is one of those ghosts.
[SPEAKER_01]: One of the holographic ghosts is going to have my face on it next time. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, okay. [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, the life partner thing, yep, domestic partnership right along those lines. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, special friend. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, they were roommates. [SPEAKER_04]: They were roommates.
[SPEAKER_04]: There's another old ass reference for you. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay, so how does opening night go, Genesis? [SPEAKER_01]: Ah, the weight is finally over, Nikita Carter opened at midnight last night to throngs of camped out fans. [SPEAKER_01]: The 5.3 Brut Billion Credit Juggernaut broke a first day right release records, sucking up to 0.97 billion credits in 20 citadel standard hours.
[SPEAKER_01]: at its core, this sims about falling in love, losing that love, and trying to get it back. [SPEAKER_01]: Says Morgan, says director Morgan Beerster. [SPEAKER_01]: It just takes place in one of the most dangerous parts of space where ancient Asari once believed the souls of the dead went.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, so now we're getting a few more details about what this movie is actually about. [SPEAKER_04]: So it sounds very edgy, very angsty, like, you know, basically it's like Romeo and Juliet meets mission impossible. [SPEAKER_01]: That's when it sounds like it also sounds a little Nathan Drakey, you know, falling in love with Elena, then they get divorced and then they get back together.
[SPEAKER_01]: untarded. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes. [SPEAKER_04]: Uncharted worlds. [SPEAKER_01]: The hurry and reviewers have called the FTL impact scene. [SPEAKER_01]: So, going back to the volume, they call it haunting. [SPEAKER_01]: in light of the valam blast. [SPEAKER_01]: One saying, being in the body of the pilot is gut-wrenching.
[SPEAKER_01]: Look, how the way leaves everything to the imagination and is just the right move. [SPEAKER_04]: Wow, that's dark. [SPEAKER_04]: That's not just dark. [SPEAKER_04]: That's pitch black. [SPEAKER_04]: That's... [SPEAKER_04]: So basically, there's a love-loorn pilot who decides that the only way to ease the pain is to commit suicide by ramming the ship at FTL speeds into a city, which by the way, depending on the weight of the ship and what the Mass Effect Field was perhaps altering that Mass to be, that would be like an order of magnitude larger than a nuclear explosion.
[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, we definitely, I mean, slamming an asteroid at FTL speeds. [SPEAKER_01]: We know causes catastrophic damage. [SPEAKER_01]: Um, intentionally sending your ship would cause the same issues. [SPEAKER_04]: Definitely. [SPEAKER_04]: So this is kind of a big asshole move actually from the pilot because this isn't just committing suicide.
[SPEAKER_04]: This is like committing mass murder. [SPEAKER_04]: This is what this is. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: It's Kamikaze. [SPEAKER_04]: right, but like, I don't know, anyway, he's not obviously the person's not thinking logically, but for this to come out so soon after the valamblast, the turians are taking this surprisingly graciously.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, uh, this is also just one Tyrion giving one quote and we don't even know if this is the Tyrion who was working on the film and so therefore is giving it the best review possible. [SPEAKER_04]: That's true. [SPEAKER_04]: That's true. [SPEAKER_04]: It says human reviews. [SPEAKER_04]: How did those go?
[SPEAKER_01]: Human reviews were mixed, one saying it harbors the vain hope that the viewer will turn his brain off while the movie, at the same time, bends over backwards to stimulate it. [SPEAKER_01]: The result is adrenaline charged, but emotionally exhausting. [SPEAKER_04]: I wish a movie would bend over backwards to stimulate me.
[SPEAKER_04]: Anyway, how's Mary life going? [SPEAKER_04]: Now this is like a brutal review that it harbors the vain hope that the viewer will turn his brain off. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay, but also it basically this review is saying that this is like if [SPEAKER_04]: Michael Bay tried to make a deep movie.
[SPEAKER_04]: That's what this review is saying. [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly that. [SPEAKER_01]: It's very much that lots of explosions going everywhere a adrenaline charge We've gotten Megan Fox being sexy and that's all about it, but also adding the emotional exhaustion the gut-wrenching scenes with the pilot falling in love and losing it.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot going on in this movie and I think I totally would like to see it. [SPEAKER_01]: I could also see how this is very much avatar. [SPEAKER_01]: it is very adrenaline charged. [SPEAKER_01]: They go through a lot to get there. [SPEAKER_01]: It is emotionally a good story trying to figure out if you should support the alien race or stick with the humans and everything that's going on in that movie.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is them poking us. [SPEAKER_04]: that scene with the FTL impact scene and apparently it cuts to black right after showing the pilot's point of view. [SPEAKER_04]: What do you think the chances are that it cut to black while they were playing what I've done by Lincoln Park because this is 2009.
[SPEAKER_04]: So I'm also thinking this has got to be like a stereotypical 2009 2010 movie reference about how so many movies ended back then I'm thinking obviously about Transformers [SPEAKER_04]: you know, and how the credit scenes, the thing I was in Vogue was to like leave on a cliffhanger and then like the music kicks in and like that would badass, right?
[SPEAKER_04]: I feel like this is, this has got to be commentary about that. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah, for sure. [SPEAKER_01]: And I could totally see that. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, I feel like it probably would damage the emotionality of watching the pilot do that, but I could also just see it being more, if it was played more into the action version of it, what I've done, what I've done fits.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, so, all right, so we get some more reviews about Nikiya corridor. [SPEAKER_04]: Excuse me, my dinners coming back up. [SPEAKER_04]: The reviews continue to pour in for an Ikea corridor some offended but most over odd. [SPEAKER_04]: Quote, a simile stem that can impress both human and a sorry audiences is hard enough.
[SPEAKER_04]: Says columnist, Garra Sator of SimsWithGuns.com. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay, so Sims with Guns is not referring to like the Sims, the video game, that's referring to Simul Sims, I think, so Sims with Guns.com, but she says Bearster has the insane dream of going after the whole galaxy. [SPEAKER_04]: From the reaction I saw among Solarian audiences, he might just get it.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, I want to stop right there for a second because we know that salarian brains work at light speed and their lifespans are also significantly shorter. [SPEAKER_04]: That would be a feat to get a salarian audience to sit through the length of a movie that an asari audience would also sit through.
[SPEAKER_01]: Thinking of it that way, yeah, and to be able to eat in a salarian occupied for them to watch the whole movie. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, having them sit there and just watch, it means that they kept things fast enough paste, but also intriguing enough. [SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, there's gotta be high level of thought and logic in order to keep them, you know, wanting to stay the whole time.
[SPEAKER_01]: But you've got to bring in the emotionality for the Osaris to want to sit through it, and then there's also got to be big enough guns for the Crogans and enough fighting and for the Terrians, and then humans will watch anything. [SPEAKER_04]: That's fair. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I think human, you're definitely going to find a human audience for anything.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, so the reviews continue. [SPEAKER_04]: Lucy Tannenbaum of sharpsstickinthei.com says, quote, the adventures of the protagonists are so jaw-droppingly extreme that they would be called unbelievable in a hollow, except that you know that this is a sim [SPEAKER_04]: Before the shock wears off, you're willing to believe any who have the script throws at you.
[SPEAKER_04]: Wow, tell us what you really think Lucy. [SPEAKER_01]: We would also like to go on record that neither of those websites are real. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I checked. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, all right, so Lucy seems to think that this is way too ostentatious of a movie, that the displays of action are apparently too extreme to be believable, because if you saw it in a real video of real people, you would say it's nuts, but then she comments apparently [SPEAKER_04]: on the stunts that were actually filmed for this cymbal stem.
[SPEAKER_04]: And she says, and then you got to realize basically that some crazy mother-expletive actually had to do it. [SPEAKER_04]: Because so that gives us some valuable lore knowledge into how cymbal stems are created. [SPEAKER_04]: So apparently, you cannot just film something and have a stunt person do it, [SPEAKER_04]: like with some kind of practical effect, so it looks real, but isn't.
[SPEAKER_04]: Like, a Simon Stim has to engage the senses, so the actor actually has to do it. [SPEAKER_04]: Even if it's a stunt double actor, like someone has to physically really do it. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm guessing there wearing some kind of like measurements or, um, you know, tools or some kind of devices on them.
[SPEAKER_04]: Maybe a brain dance? [SPEAKER_04]: Reath yes. [SPEAKER_01]: This is exactly what this sounds like to me. [SPEAKER_01]: It very much sounds like a pulling lure from Cyberpunk, because a brain dance is where you are recording a recensation while you are doing an action. [SPEAKER_01]: It's sights, smells.
[SPEAKER_01]: The heat waves being from inside of the room. [SPEAKER_01]: Everything that's going on is tracked recorded and can be replicated by whoever is watching the [SPEAKER_01]: or the brain dance. [SPEAKER_01]: And so I think that that's kind of what this is also alluding to is that all of these people, all these actors are recording everything that are going on.
[SPEAKER_01]: The words that they're saying, the sensations that they're feeling, the adrenaline rush being shocked in outer space. [SPEAKER_01]: And then that is what is going into the movie. [SPEAKER_01]: And then that is what the watcher is going to be able to experience also. [SPEAKER_01]: But probably at a little bit lesser.
[SPEAKER_01]: of a sensation than what the original person felt. [SPEAKER_04]: That would be pretty cool to be able to experience movies that way, but I'll say, be pretty cool to experience some movies that way. [SPEAKER_04]: Like there are definitely some movies I will never see as a Simon Stim. [SPEAKER_04]: One of them that comes to mind is human, I think you can fill in the blank for that other word there.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, no, definitely don't want to experience that one. [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm good on zombie movies. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't need that much adrenaline. [SPEAKER_04]: Something like shit. [SPEAKER_04]: So anyway, so that one, okay. [SPEAKER_04]: So that technology has the capability to be amazing and awful.
[SPEAKER_04]: But how does it do after it's initial opening day? [SPEAKER_01]: Alright, box office receipts are in and audiences went to hell and back for the sexy movie with the unsexy name. [SPEAKER_01]: Nikia corridor demolished four day records, scooping up a tidy 300 and 2 million extra credits from its earth audiences in North America, [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, it came out on the fourth of July.
[SPEAKER_01]: I just realized that. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, it did. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, because the, yes, so the first day that it came out was actually, let's see, July 1st. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, but it's advanced premiere was June 25th, apparently. [SPEAKER_04]: And then it came out July 1st. [SPEAKER_04]: And so that was apparently on the July 4th weekend.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yep. [SPEAKER_01]: All right, there we go. [SPEAKER_01]: Nikia broke three records for single day takes and capped the Thursday through Monday's streak off at a whopping 13.3 billion credits. [SPEAKER_01]: So it cost five bill to create and they made 13.3 damn. [SPEAKER_04]: Pretty good turnover.
[SPEAKER_01]: Asked if there was any way to increase the hit's profits, director Morgan Beerster said, I guess we could build more theaters. [SPEAKER_04]: Man, this guy's got some real singers. [SPEAKER_01]: Right? [SPEAKER_01]: Meanwhile, back among mortals, the comedy anthology gagged, scooped up 67 million credits.
[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, everybody went to go see this movie and did not go get gagged. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, go see, gagged. [SPEAKER_04]: I would love to know what gagged is about. [SPEAKER_01]: It's a comedy anthology apparently. [SPEAKER_04]: apparently so so okay so Morgan Beerster says you know anyway that you could have increased your profits even more I guess we could build more theaters that's like the the general hangem high patent response to that question this guy is like the [SPEAKER_01]: I like it.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a good line though, but it's, you know, going back to gagged producers Scott Hasten said, yeah, we brought in a pretty big audience ourselves during Nicky is in her mission. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay. [SPEAKER_04]: So this Simon Stem was so long ahead and in her mission. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: So that's like what it's got to be three to four hour movie. [SPEAKER_04]: How long did it actually say, I don't think it said how long it was, um, it doesn't. [SPEAKER_04]: So but it did say it was a space epic. [SPEAKER_04]: So I guess we are led to believe that it's long in that regard.
[SPEAKER_04]: Um, okay. [SPEAKER_04]: So. [SPEAKER_04]: Then we get some data from the extra net. [SPEAKER_04]: That says there were no surprises on the download charts this weekend. [SPEAKER_04]: Nikia corridor is on its way to becoming the highest-grossing sim ever. [SPEAKER_04]: The long-awaited actioner charmed another 9.1 billion audiences.
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, I'm sorry, charmed another 9.1 billion out of audiences, galaxy wide, passing the [SPEAKER_04]: Confederates, if I remember, that could be a reference to the political structure of the assari republics. [SPEAKER_01]: that one I'm not sure all that I found on it was that it was previously the highest grossing sim.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, I think I think it's a reference. [SPEAKER_04]: It must be some kind of political thriller that kind of movie. [SPEAKER_04]: Um, quote, it's absolutely unreal to be at the center of something this big says director Morgan Beerster. [SPEAKER_04]: I can only say thank you to the fans for giving me my own [SPEAKER_04]: because he was joking about it before and now he's talking about his own Hollywood ending.
[SPEAKER_04]: He says, I thought I was going to have to sell shoes for a living when this was done. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay, good. [SPEAKER_04]: He's not talking about that. [SPEAKER_04]: In the Giants Shadow, low budget hollow horror, the Fage 2, scooped up 653 million credits by squeezing scares out of a sentient salarian bio warfare project that dissolves people outright.
[SPEAKER_04]: That sounds like a reference to the Graze. [SPEAKER_04]: Doesn't it? [SPEAKER_04]: I guess the salarians look like the Graze, the Grae aliens, you know, the big guys. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I see that with the with the big guys and exos like the head shapes very very different, um, but the phage to instead of the genophage, this is a whole thing, uh, reproduction now, just dissolving people outright.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, my god. [SPEAKER_04]: The phage to sterilize harder. [SPEAKER_04]: What? [SPEAKER_04]: Geez, dude. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh my god, there's some, there's some Krogan fans who are going to be pissed off at that lore, but it's lore, it's there. [SPEAKER_04]: So that is the completion of the Nihia corridor arc where I feel like we got like a weird amount of lore for basically nothing that really changes anything else in the lore of the Mass Effect Universe, it's just something fun.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is totally fluffy and it's following the movie, but we get, you know, actual numbers and audiences and terminology that we haven't seen before. [SPEAKER_01]: New names to work with. [SPEAKER_01]: We talked about two of the celebrities that went to the premiere [SPEAKER_01]: you know, the Simon Eldfield, Lisa Ford, like these are people that we can learn more lore about through other things and they just show up here at a random premiere to a movie.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so that's one of my favorite things about how there's so much lore and [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and you know, it did such a great job in a world building, and that's I think the greatest strength of these servers daily news stories, that they may not come into play anywhere in the games at all really, but they do so much for broadening our understanding of and our appreciation of the world or worlds of the Mass Effect universe.
[SPEAKER_04]: because now we understand so much more about how the social dynamics are at play, how entertainment in the entertainment industry is very similar to what we know now and also quite different from what we know now. [SPEAKER_04]: So I like the fact that it was very relatable, but at the same time, you can see how technology and social trends have shaped the entertainment industry [SPEAKER_01]: Yep, oh, that and I love that there are still little things that remind us of, you know, the time that it was written.
[SPEAKER_04]: And yeah, it is a bit of a time capsule. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, that's for sure. [SPEAKER_04]: So if anyone is, you know, listening to this and in 2009, you were like too young to really understand some of the pop culture events that we're going on, we got you. [SPEAKER_04]: This is hopefully a good lesson in terms of how the mass-factor writers were making social commentary way back then, that by today's standards could very well be labeled woke.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I, sorry, my brain also triggered on. [SPEAKER_01]: We've got four hours to go and then I don't know if I should come. [SPEAKER_01]: I was or not. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm wondering if that's the length of the movie because we've got four hours and then I'll know what the family is.
[SPEAKER_04]: You're right. [SPEAKER_04]: It's four hours long. [SPEAKER_04]: It's a four hour movie. [SPEAKER_04]: So it's like Lord of the Rings, but a space epic. [SPEAKER_04]: Space epic romance [SPEAKER_01]: everything all mashed into one. [SPEAKER_01]: Let's go. [SPEAKER_04]: All right. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: I guess it's got everything. [SPEAKER_04]: Now I need to know how long the L-core rendition is. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, it would an L-core stand outside of the ship in low atmosphere just to get a shot. [SPEAKER_04]: Would it have to wear grab boots? [SPEAKER_04]: That would look [SPEAKER_01]: How do they wear space helmets like how does that even work do L core wear pants and how would it this way or like this way?
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know Anyway, that'd be pretty funny. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm hoping everybody enjoyed this episode. [SPEAKER_04]: We wanted to pick something that was a little bit more lighthearted, a little bit more fun for the episode that comes out right before Christmas. [SPEAKER_04]: Now we still got a couple more weeks before the end of the year and next week.
[SPEAKER_04]: We are putting out, we had a robots radio network holiday special, where Genesis you were a little bit busy, but I was able to show up in chat with other hosts from around the robots radio network. [SPEAKER_04]: And we all discussed one thing that we think the communities of each of our shows should try.
[SPEAKER_04]: because we greatly enjoyed it trying it over the past year. [SPEAKER_04]: So that'll be out next week and then after that, we get to talk to our patrons one final time in 2025. [SPEAKER_04]: Can't believe it's already at the end, under the year, which means it's almost been one year that you have been co-hosting to show with me.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's also crazy. [SPEAKER_01]: Time, it flies. [SPEAKER_01]: And it also feels like I've kind of been here forever. [SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, that works too. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, all right. [SPEAKER_04]: Feels like just yesterday my son was born, but he's like almost nine months old now, which is nuts.
[SPEAKER_04]: So anyway, here's to the new and here's to the old one is silver and one is gold. [SPEAKER_04]: Have a Merry Christmas everybody and happy new year. [SPEAKER_04]: And go see a blockbuster movie. [SPEAKER_04]: Until next time, Specters, we should go. [SPEAKER_04]: Thanks for listening to the Mass Effect War Test.
