[SPEAKER_03]: I'm Commander Shepherd, and this is my favorite lorecast on the Citadel. [SPEAKER_06]: Welcome to the Mass Effect Lorecast. [SPEAKER_06]: I'm in seven the legend. [SPEAKER_04]: And I'm Genesis. [SPEAKER_04]: Join us. [SPEAKER_06]: As we explore along tides of light. [SPEAKER_06]: And through shows of dust.
[SPEAKER_06]: To see where this lore began. [SPEAKER_04]: And consider where it may go. [SPEAKER_06]: Specters, hello and welcome back to an unexpected episode of the Mass Effect Lorecast perhaps. [SPEAKER_06]: That is because we are starting a new sub-series of episodes today. [SPEAKER_06]: Genesis, Genesis is my co-host and joining me as always.
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm excited for this. [SPEAKER_04]: This was a part of Mass Effect that I have never, ever looked into, so it's all brand new information for me. [SPEAKER_06]: Right, yes. [SPEAKER_06]: So there is a lot of content that never made it past the cutting room floor. [SPEAKER_06]: and there's a lot of ideas and missions and places and people that some of the writers and developers had planned on putting in some of the games and we just never saw it.
[SPEAKER_06]: And so we were like, you know what? [SPEAKER_06]: What is the most unknown lore? [SPEAKER_06]: Well, it's probably the stuff that was going to be in the games. [SPEAKER_06]: But was deleted, like a deleted scene for a movie. [SPEAKER_06]: So we're starting a series of episodes on Cut Content.
[SPEAKER_06]: And we thought there's no better place to start on that. [SPEAKER_06]: Then a planet you may have heard of, I heard of it in passing before looking into it. [SPEAKER_06]: It's called Calliston. [SPEAKER_06]: and this one might sound familiar to you, especially if you were a day one OG Mass Effect fan because in that original Mass Effect one teaser, where you get Commander Shepherd Garus and Ashley in the CIC of the Normandy, and there's a distress signal that comes in.
[SPEAKER_06]: And there's another choice that Shepherd makes where Shepherd kind of waves it away and redirects the Normandy somewhere else ignoring that distress signal, the place that they're going toward the VI says is Calliston, chart set for Calliston. [SPEAKER_06]: So that's because Calliston was supposed to be a major planet in Mass Effect 1.
[SPEAKER_06]: And so I thought we should probably go over some of the basics on what Calisthen was before we even address some of the missions that we could have gone on on this planet. [SPEAKER_06]: Genesis, how about I tell everyone about a little bit about how the planet was going to go what replaced it and then you can kind of pick up when we're talking about some of the factions.
[SPEAKER_06]: in play here. [SPEAKER_06]: So basically what we got instead of Calston was Theram. [SPEAKER_06]: Theram was where we recruited Lyra and it was always meant to be Lyra's introduction whether or not it was Calston or Theram. [SPEAKER_06]: So, Liarra was always going to be recruited on this planet, however, in original planning, it was supposed to be so much bigger than the lava-geth-infested planet that we got.
[SPEAKER_06]: And I thought, you know, after reading through a lot of this, I was like, I kind of wish that we got [SPEAKER_06]: What do you think, Genesis? [SPEAKER_06]: When I was reading through this, I was like, this sounds way cooler. [SPEAKER_04]: How does John sounds amazing? [SPEAKER_04]: I would have loved who had this whole experience on the planet with the way that all the missions that we're going to go through are all interwoven and it really feels like it's own little world.
[SPEAKER_04]: It is another one of those key planets like Theram, like Pharaohs, like Novaria, and we would have had this additional planet. [SPEAKER_04]: Um, and then I guess we should also just put up right up at the top, absolutely none of this is panning. [SPEAKER_04]: It is strictly content. [SPEAKER_04]: So things that happen during all of this stuff affects none of the storyline and does not continue throughout.
[SPEAKER_04]: So, [SPEAKER_06]: Now, that said, the way that we know about these details is because of data minors. [SPEAKER_06]: So they found files within the game, like itself. [SPEAKER_06]: Cut dialogue files are where most of the exposition and story comes from. [SPEAKER_06]: So it is not canon in as much as it never appeared.
[SPEAKER_06]: So it never really had an impact on anything. [SPEAKER_06]: However, it's like more canon than fanfiction. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_06]: So, anyway, if you remember Theram, like I said, a lot of lava everywhere, kind of a dark stormy sky where the whole place kind of looked like an order where this planet was supposed to look, Calistan was supposed to look similar, although it would not have a dark and stormy sky, it would have a clear yellowish green sky.
[SPEAKER_06]: which would set a very different tone, perhaps somewhat similar to Pharaoh's, and it was also supposed to be basically a big mining planet. [SPEAKER_06]: That was the only industry really thriving there. [SPEAKER_06]: Calliston was a mining planet. [SPEAKER_06]: So the... [SPEAKER_06]: biggest location on Calliston where we would go and spend most of our time was actually a hub city.
[SPEAKER_06]: So this was a place that was designed to be somewhat like Zeus Hope. [SPEAKER_06]: It was designed to be somewhat like Port-Hanchan on the area. [SPEAKER_06]: And it was called throwdown. [SPEAKER_06]: throw it out. [SPEAKER_06]: So weird. [SPEAKER_06]: It's I'm going. [SPEAKER_06]: I'm getting big old tiny wild west vibes.
[SPEAKER_06]: Are you? [SPEAKER_04]: Very saloon style. [SPEAKER_04]: I could see that for sure. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, Shepherd walks in the the saloon doors. [SPEAKER_06]: And then like, approach is, like, hey, little lady. [SPEAKER_06]: Anyway, we could've gotten some western, some western mass effect.
[SPEAKER_04]: If that's what it feels like reading through these. [SPEAKER_04]: It definitely feels like it is very much like, when I, when reading through all this, throw down does seem very zoos-hope. [SPEAKER_04]: It, you know, zoos-hope is a little bit cringier. [SPEAKER_04]: It's a little bit not as, [SPEAKER_04]: Established or refined as like no varia is and you go to there you feel how much construction has been done It's a well-oiled machine Throwdown feels a little bit gringier.
[SPEAKER_06]: Definitely frontier. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, very frontier. [SPEAKER_06]: So the other thing is much like no varia was completely outside the scope of [SPEAKER_06]: like governmental governance, if that makes sense, like official governance, this is basically a colony owned by Eldfeld Ashland Energy, who this is the same company that was involved in the [SPEAKER_06]: Well, it was a written later in the story, but there's a lot of, um, [SPEAKER_06]: speculation, you could say that Eldfeld astronaut energy is either a server-ishel company or just has a lot of ties to servers.
[SPEAKER_06]: So they were owned through down, was owned by Eldfeld Ashland Energy, probably not a surprise to most of us considering it's a mining planet, and that's where the mining city is. [SPEAKER_06]: I found it really cool that there was also a set of [SPEAKER_06]: that was pretty close by, and they were called Noces.
[SPEAKER_06]: So that's K in OS, OS, for those who don't know that was a city in Crete, and it was thought to have been a major power center for them, a no-in civilization. [SPEAKER_06]: It's also, it shows up in a lot of Greek myths, including Thessias, if I remember right. [SPEAKER_06]: So once again, another perhaps Greek mythological mention in Mass Effect, but this one never made it in.
[SPEAKER_04]: It happens all the time, but I feel like maybe that name was recycled and used somewhere else in Mass Effect. [SPEAKER_06]: I can't remember if Nossus was, but what I'm thinking about now is like, had the protein ruins of Nossus made it into the game. [SPEAKER_06]: Would we have gotten to fight something like an alien mannitar?
[SPEAKER_06]: You know what I mean? [SPEAKER_06]: It's kind of like a nice little wink in the nod there. [SPEAKER_06]: So there is a lot going on with, um, [SPEAKER_06]: with uh, throw down, you know, that I, when I hear that there are some big, protein ruins, just some distance away. [SPEAKER_06]: That's, that's how the wiki puts it anyway, that it was some distance away.
[SPEAKER_06]: And it was inside a super walk of volcano called [SPEAKER_06]: As we burn burn burn burn in the ring of fire burn burn burn burn and I'm not going to complete that sentence So this is apparently the ring of fire that whole idea is What they did with theorem so that's what theorem became [SPEAKER_06]: Like the ring of fire we see it in the game as it is now, but that was originally just going to be where that set of protein ruins was and presumably where we defined Lyara.
[SPEAKER_06]: So it sounds basically like there was a whole addition to theorem instead of just landing in that lava zone going to the protein ruins and that's that. [SPEAKER_06]: The star system is called Nossus. [SPEAKER_06]: I see that Retrobot and Chat said that, yeah, there is a star system in Artemis town called Nossus, that's correct.
[SPEAKER_06]: There isn't it. [SPEAKER_06]: So let's get back to throw down. [SPEAKER_06]: There is a little bit of a power struggle going on there, right, Genesis? [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, there are two major players in here. [SPEAKER_04]: The miners union and the cartel. [SPEAKER_06]: Basically, there is a big power struggle going on between them and it's the player's job to kind of mediate that and navigate it while completing some missions.
[SPEAKER_06]: And kind of finding what and who is behind some of the fishy stuff happening. [SPEAKER_04]: And these gangs, you know, we don't see them on any other planets in any other areas. [SPEAKER_04]: They only happen here and throw down, but it's interesting to learn into another sect of mainly human and turians or kind of the only people that we really see on this planet from what I've read in the storylines and how they interact.
[SPEAKER_06]: Right. [SPEAKER_06]: So this, um, the warring factions are like, here's, and, and, and forgive us because we just don't know a lot of detail about them, but we know that one of them was a miners union, right? [SPEAKER_06]: And one of them was just referred to as the cartel. [SPEAKER_06]: So it was a cartel run by two salarian brothers, named Smiley and race a Loma, rock a Loma.
[SPEAKER_06]: I don't, how do you think that that's pronounced? [SPEAKER_04]: I like Rock-A-Loma. [SPEAKER_04]: Let's go with that. [SPEAKER_06]: Rock-A-Loma, um, and they were drugs mugglers. [SPEAKER_04]: This of course, the salarians want to make money fast and drugs are the easiest way to do it. [SPEAKER_06]: And I can see a mining town, like a mining population, being like a ripe demographic for a [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, what else are you going to do into your downtime if you're, you work, live, do everything in one little centralized hub, the only thing left to do is, oh, hookers and blow.
[SPEAKER_06]: Well, the first, the former part of that actually does come up, but we'll get to that a little bit later. [SPEAKER_06]: So we find out along the way that we're doing story or that we're doing the missions on Caliston. [SPEAKER_06]: We ultimately find out that that minors union is actually being led by the administrator, [SPEAKER_06]: The minors union is being led by an E.A.E.
[SPEAKER_06]: employee anyway. [SPEAKER_04]: Sound right. [SPEAKER_06]: I'm sure that there's some some kind of social commentary in there. [SPEAKER_06]: So think about the bring down the sky DLC. [SPEAKER_06]: You remember that one with, um, Ballock? [SPEAKER_06]: What's his name? [SPEAKER_06]: I think?
[SPEAKER_06]: The Baterian terrorist trying to slam the asteroid. [SPEAKER_06]: into Terra Nova. [SPEAKER_06]: Well, when we land on there, and we get to ballots like when we get to the main base where we fight ballot, that building, that model was supposed to be the central hub of throwdown, called the throwdown plaza.
[SPEAKER_06]: And that's from there is where we would get to most of these facilities. [SPEAKER_06]: and there were multiple facilities that were actually so it wasn't just like that that main central chamber like there was more that we could get to there was supposed to be a ship hanger there was supposed to be a garage overseeing by the harbour master charley booker [SPEAKER_06]: So, we had a lot of these fleshed out, there was even an infirmary owned by a hand-art named or a nap.
[SPEAKER_06]: And an original clinic sold to become Smiley's Residence. [SPEAKER_06]: So, Smiley being that Salarian Cartel member. [SPEAKER_06]: I'd love that, uh, yeah, like retro button, Chatses, Charlie Booker is a bio-shock name. [SPEAKER_06]: That is big bio-shock right there. [SPEAKER_06]: Um, the administrators office was supposed to be on the second floor of this plaza, as well as Rushoch's bar, the seventh moon.
[SPEAKER_06]: So I think that's kind of cool that they had planned out another bar to have. [SPEAKER_06]: So it wasn't just like, it didn't feel like a colony still being built like Zeus Hope was, you know? [SPEAKER_06]: This is somewhere that had been established enough to have a cartel infiltrating it as well as, you know, a bar called Roushawks, or, I'm sorry, what was it, the seventh moon?
[SPEAKER_06]: So, it's actually a pretty sick name for a bar. [SPEAKER_04]: Right? [SPEAKER_04]: We would totally go hang out there. [SPEAKER_06]: It sounds like a dive bar. [SPEAKER_06]: Doesn't it? [SPEAKER_06]: The seventh moon? [SPEAKER_04]: Oh yeah, on a mining planet, it's totally a diet. [SPEAKER_04]: This is not high class.
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, yeah, so I love that. [SPEAKER_06]: There was also supposed to be a refinery elevator that with the whole accessing it was part of a quest where we would have to get an authorization code. [SPEAKER_06]: And once we got it, we would go underground. [SPEAKER_06]: Um, there were some key missions that we were going to take part in, like last man standing.
[SPEAKER_06]: That was one of the missions, uh, redemption was another mission and free prostitutes. [SPEAKER_06]: was another. [SPEAKER_06]: Now I have a question about free prostitutes, ultimately we're going to get into this in the second half of the episode, but does free prostitutes mean that their services are free?
[SPEAKER_06]: Does it mean that we should free the prostitutes? [SPEAKER_06]: Because those are two very different things. [SPEAKER_06]: And if the services are free, I'm not sure I wanted. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay, yeah, no, it's definitely we should free the prostitutes, not that their services are for free, but also I agree with you.
[SPEAKER_06]: Well, that's a good life lesson for everybody that you get what you pay for, so keep that in mind, everybody. [SPEAKER_06]: Okay, so we had a number of different NPCs who are already named in the extrapolated dialogue, who we knew we would have ran into, like Tumburi, the Administrator who I mentioned, Charlie Booker, Roushok, the bartender, or bar owner, I guess, or enough, the Hanar, maybe doctor, or he just owns an infirmary, so maybe a doctor, maybe a healer, [SPEAKER_04]: Jason Hara is somebody that I will be talking about a lot when it comes to the some of these side missions.
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, absolutely. [SPEAKER_06]: So I can't wait to get into some of those. [SPEAKER_06]: And you might be wondering, what exactly were they even mining here? [SPEAKER_06]: Ezo. [SPEAKER_06]: That's why it was so important. [SPEAKER_06]: And I think that that would have been a great opportunity to really learn more about elements zero, why it's important, the economics behind it and just how focused around it's refining the galaxy is.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, the fact that Ezo is so important to the Mass Effect Universe, we hand get a lot of lore about it by reading codecs and entries by actually paying attention to side conversations, but in later on games, we get a little bit more and more details. [SPEAKER_04]: But I think if they had provided us a mission up front, specifically integrating Ezo and its effects, it would have brought the storyline together even more.
[SPEAKER_04]: Because honestly, if it's not an mission, I'm probably not going to read it my first playthrough, you know? [SPEAKER_04]: So learning about this right up front in the beginning on why this is so important. [SPEAKER_04]: It would have been really cool. [SPEAKER_06]: It would have been, it would have been, and eventually we would learn while talking to people on Calustin that there were actually hundreds of Prothian ruins there on the planet.
[SPEAKER_06]: And you have to think that if there was a high concentration of Ezo, that might be why. [SPEAKER_04]: And also explains why Lyra would have been on this planet. [SPEAKER_06]: You know, I cannot believe that it has taken me this long to come to this idea. [SPEAKER_06]: And it might just be sleep deprived parent brain talking right now.
[SPEAKER_06]: So please correct me if I'm wrong or if I'm overlooking something. [SPEAKER_06]: But did we ever get confirmation in the lore that the Reapers created element zero? [SPEAKER_04]: Oh. [SPEAKER_04]: I don't. [SPEAKER_04]: No, I don't think that we ever got confirmation or anything like that, but I guess we'd have to do a little bit more easo research to even see if it was a created element or if it was something that was naturally located.
[SPEAKER_06]: Right, well, it's so unlike all the other elements on our periodic table that it got the designation zero. [SPEAKER_06]: you know, and it's also the key to Mass Effect Physics, the key to the Mass Relays, pretty much everything that makes Mass Effect a unique sci-fi story. [SPEAKER_06]: But we also know that the reapers arranged a lot of that technology, the mass relays, the Citadel, so that these intelligent species would evolve along given pathways that they had already predicted.
[SPEAKER_06]: So creating elements zero and seeding it in very specific locations seems like a re-permanipulation technique. [SPEAKER_04]: very much could be, or it could just be an element that didn't naturally occur on Earth, and so that's why we didn't find it until later. [SPEAKER_06]: True, and there was a lot of easo on Thesia.
[SPEAKER_06]: which is why you had not just biotically gifted Asari, thanks to the Perthians too, but also biotic wielding animals, so yeah, so Retrobot says that he just looked it up and that Ezo comes from a star going supernova near a planet. [SPEAKER_06]: fascinating. [SPEAKER_06]: Well, regardless, the easo concentration on Calustin and the hundreds of Prothian ruins does not surprise me at all.
[SPEAKER_06]: And in fact, I should stop calling it a planet because it was originally designed to be a volcanic moon, not a planet. [SPEAKER_04]: Maybe it was the seventh moon of a planet. [SPEAKER_06]: Bingo, I think you're absolutely right. [SPEAKER_06]: And the planet it was orbiting was a gas giant, serenunos.
[SPEAKER_06]: I think is how you say that. [SPEAKER_06]: It's C-E-R-N-U-N-O-S. Serenunos. [SPEAKER_06]: Maybe that's another reference to mythology. [SPEAKER_06]: I should look that up. [SPEAKER_06]: But apparently, serenunos itself was racked by constant title volcanism. [SPEAKER_06]: how does that work?
[SPEAKER_04]: I love that idea that the liquid magma within a volcano is being affected by the tides. [SPEAKER_04]: So instead of our oceans are the ones that are most heavily affected by the lunar cycle and everything like that, this means that their magma is, and that would be really interesting. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_06]: So. [SPEAKER_06]: we actually did end up getting serenunos in the in Mass Effect 2. [SPEAKER_06]: I want to say yeah Mass Effect 2 I just looked it up and it is apparently known for its abundant hydrogen. [SPEAKER_06]: and that helps it basically be attractive to people looking to make starship fuel.
[SPEAKER_06]: So that's what I'm reading here on the wiki. [SPEAKER_06]: Oh, here we go. [SPEAKER_06]: It may be named after the Celtic god, Cernuno's. [SPEAKER_06]: Okay, now I'm fascinated about what this God entails. [SPEAKER_06]: None of this is in the notes, by the way, I'm going rogue. [SPEAKER_06]: I'm just curious right now about what this God is about.
[SPEAKER_06]: Apparently, not much is known about this God because their name is only written once. [SPEAKER_06]: On the first century CE pillar of the Boatman from Paris. [SPEAKER_06]: That's according to Wikipedia, that's that's pretty cool. [SPEAKER_06]: Anyway, I'm going to look up more about Sanuno's the Celtic God a little bit after this episode.
[SPEAKER_06]: I guess a little is known about Sanuno's. [SPEAKER_06]: So that kind of takes us to some of the missions and what we actually would have been able to do on Caloston. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, so these missions are very, very interesting. [SPEAKER_04]: We talked about, you mentioned last man standing.
[SPEAKER_04]: And that's kind of the overarching mission that you complete going through the entire planet. [SPEAKER_04]: And then we've got a couple of side missions that you can do while doing it. [SPEAKER_04]: Now last man standing is also the mission that once you end it, then it's the end of the planet.
[SPEAKER_04]: A lot of the other little side missions end up getting cut off. [SPEAKER_04]: So by aware causing more trauma of complete this mission and accidentally lock yourself out of other things. [SPEAKER_06]: That's silly by aware. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, it's actually because of that kind of dynamic that I have trust issues in RPGs now.
[SPEAKER_06]: Then I'm constantly like, okay, which of these seems to be the least important. [SPEAKER_06]: I'm going to do those first. [SPEAKER_04]: anything that's listed as side mission or optional always gets completed before moving along the main storyline. [SPEAKER_06]: I actually made a meme one time that should up on the front page of Reddit.
[SPEAKER_06]: So that this like I claimed internet fame for me I guess, but I made a meme that was like, [SPEAKER_06]: when it was like when someone asks why I keep doing this side missions and avoiding doing the main mission and it was that that scene and red dead to where Arthur tells the the the none I'm afraid yeah you remember that scene so basically yeah I because of biores and systems on doing this I'm afraid of a locking myself at a content but also [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: My trauma came from not completing all the side missions on haystrom. [SPEAKER_04]: I believe that's the plan. [SPEAKER_04]: And then, uh, Tally, I couldn't bark broker piece between the geth and the Koreans. [SPEAKER_04]: And yeah, that one was very, very not good. [SPEAKER_04]: So. [SPEAKER_04]: all side missions all the time.
[SPEAKER_06]: So this last man's standing mission if he people listening at home if you want to look this up on Wikipedia, we're just going to go over like a brief synopsis, but there is a lot written about this and there are like several incredibly like pivotal like story beat changes, but essentially this starts as [SPEAKER_06]: something that you need to do before you go to recruit Lyra, and it's immediately acquired as soon as you land on throw down.
[SPEAKER_06]: You land in the harbour master, you meet Charlie Booker, who then introduces you to Administrator Tumburi. [SPEAKER_06]: who, again, remember we later learn is actually secretly running that minors union. [SPEAKER_06]: So, Booker, you start asking around about Lyra. [SPEAKER_06]: That was your whole catalyst for going to Calston.
[SPEAKER_06]: And Booker knows of Lyra, but doesn't really know where she is, which, [SPEAKER_06]: You know, leads the player further into throw down, doing more missions, and the administrator Tom Buri says that there was actually a violent gang war over that easo refinery that we mentioned. [SPEAKER_06]: And that kind of introduces us to that conflict between the cartel and the miners union, the drug smugglers and the miners union.
[SPEAKER_06]: So now, you might be thinking, well, then where is Lyra? [SPEAKER_06]: Well, Tumbiri says Lyra is actually just imprisoned. [SPEAKER_06]: The cart to that cartel boss, Smiley, he has her locked up in his mansion. [SPEAKER_04]: And also they use the word mansion, but apparently his place was just the old Medbe.
[SPEAKER_04]: So that's interesting. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, isn't that weird? [SPEAKER_06]: Well, I guess, you know, there's probably never a second set of eyes or third set of eyes of these work cut, right, cut content. [SPEAKER_06]: So maybe there might be some kind of inconsistencies in how large smiley's apartment was.
[SPEAKER_06]: Maybe it was a mansion to everybody else because everyone else might have been living in like lockers, right? [SPEAKER_06]: If it was a mining colony. [SPEAKER_04]: you know, a med bay compared to a locker would seem like a mansion. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_06]: Yep. [SPEAKER_06]: So, um, there was honestly a ton of information that we just skipped over and you're going to want to go look it up specifically that, uh, gangland, those details about the, uh, inner machinations of this cartel, smiley smiley brother, Raqqa Loma, uh, [SPEAKER_06]: that basically the player had seen Rockaloma beat up a few refinery workers who were harassing a scientist.
[SPEAKER_06]: And this was right in front of a couple of people who just didn't seem to really give a damn. [SPEAKER_06]: And so, Shepard talks with those bystanders and Shepard learns that this is no ordinary union rep that that Shepard's talking to. [SPEAKER_06]: And in fact, that that person Sessa, their name is, is a mercenary.
[SPEAKER_06]: So the goal here is for Shepard to infiltrate. [SPEAKER_06]: the refinery and ultimately free Lyara where Shepherd thinks that Lyara is in Smiley's mansion. [SPEAKER_06]: In that refinery, we meet Sessa, we see that assault from Smiley's brother, and then we plan to [SPEAKER_06]: like going and hitting a red sand cache in some nearby tunnels.
[SPEAKER_04]: Pack the drugs directly. [SPEAKER_04]: That will definitely get the mob boss out there. [SPEAKER_06]: Get your blood flowing, too. [SPEAKER_06]: If you don't get away in time. [SPEAKER_04]: Don't inhale. [SPEAKER_06]: You know what's funny? [SPEAKER_06]: I actually don't remember hearing a lot about red sand and mass-ficked one.
[SPEAKER_04]: Um, you, if your shepherd was Earthborn, there is a mission about Redsand, because apparently you used to be a gangrunner back on Earth. [SPEAKER_06]: Uh, oh, I wonder if you would have had unique dialogue here then. [SPEAKER_04]: Quite possible, because you, you were known to run in a Redsand gang back on Earth.
[SPEAKER_06]: their totally would have been unique dialogue. [SPEAKER_06]: For an earthborn shepherd here, that would have been really cool. [SPEAKER_06]: That would have been really really cool. [SPEAKER_06]: To like try and big time the cartel bosses. [SPEAKER_06]: Oh yeah. [SPEAKER_06]: Can you imagine that?
[SPEAKER_06]: Oh man. [SPEAKER_06]: Sweet, sweet renegade lines there. [SPEAKER_06]: I'm sure. [SPEAKER_06]: Retrobot brings up a great point in chat and says, would Smiley have been competition for Arya? [SPEAKER_06]: Yes. [SPEAKER_06]: Yes, Smiley probably would have been competition for Arya, considering that Arya's main imports and exports were red sand through and easo and easo.
[SPEAKER_06]: Maybe Smiley was working for Arya. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, that would have definitely brought, you know, the circles together between one and two. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, yeah, really what if if you would have found if you would have pulled the thread and ultimately learned that that the cartel was actually Arya's cartel God, that would have been a really cool and now I'm really sad that they cut Caliston again because can you imagine you get to Mass Effect 2 and then you walk up you meetly are you meet Arya and she's like I believe you've already met my associate smiley [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, that would have been so good knowing, yeah, oh, too bad this was all cut.
[SPEAKER_04]: I wish we could play it through. [SPEAKER_06]: Same. [SPEAKER_06]: So Shepard ultimately joins up with that mercenary posing as a union rep along with another person named Fred Mazze for a mission in which they were going to sabotage a mining bore, b-bore being B-O-R-E. [SPEAKER_06]: And there's some unique dialogue here, depending on which squad made you bring with you.
[SPEAKER_06]: But basically, there are some squad mates that have some real quams about working with criminals. [SPEAKER_06]: and shepherd can agree or dismiss those concerns. [SPEAKER_06]: And this is probably yet another opportunity to affect the moral trajectory of your squad mates like you can with everyone else.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I loved the idea of this about, you know, we talk, especially with garrisons such a morally flexible character in Mass Effect 1, and your decisions heavily impact his the way that he reacts to you in Mass Effect 2, and so I would have loved another opportunity to kind of influence him one way or the other.
[SPEAKER_04]: Hmm. [SPEAKER_06]: He has the moral flexibility, but I have the moral reach. [SPEAKER_06]: So apparently this guy Fred is frustrated about life being in the minors union and this is another pivotal moment in which Shepherd can encourage redirect or help Fred. [SPEAKER_06]: And I like that there are several mini choices within this mission.
[SPEAKER_06]: So basically, the [SPEAKER_06]: the team, you and the mercenaries that is in your squadmates, are confronted by some terrians working with the cartel. [SPEAKER_06]: So this is really interesting because we have a cartel that is presumably led by two salarians, but there's terrian henchmen.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, very, very unlike the gangs that we see on Omega, which, you know, the blood pack, the, uh, but like the blood pack is mainly Crogon and Vortja. [SPEAKER_04]: Uh, the blue suns are mainly human eclipsed mainly, we see Celarian and Asari, and so seeing a Celarian, [SPEAKER_04]: That's a new combination that we haven't seen unless they're creating genophages.
[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, creating and then deploying a genophage. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_06]: That said, maybe this cartel needs to be dismantled ASAP. [SPEAKER_06]: Last time these guys worked together. [SPEAKER_06]: So you can try and avoid combat. [SPEAKER_06]: You get some speech checks there. [SPEAKER_06]: If you get enough charm or intimidate points, you can do it.
[SPEAKER_06]: But ultimately, if you get into a fight, then Fred will panic or run away, and that's dependent on whether or not you helped Fred. [SPEAKER_06]: Ultimately, Shepherd has to go and then sabotage that mining bore personally. [SPEAKER_06]: You finish the mission, the rewards are a measly 500 to 750 credits, plus any bonuses [SPEAKER_04]: I love the fact that there was so much detail put into this mission.
[SPEAKER_04]: This mission was supposed to be in the game. [SPEAKER_04]: If there are mission rewards included in the content that we found, that means that we should have gotten this in the game. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_06]: It sounds like it really was. [SPEAKER_06]: fully fleshed out, and fully intended to be in the game, but I bet it was something with their production schedule that they wanted to include it, but they had to cut it.
[SPEAKER_06]: Like, I bet that this was the case. [SPEAKER_06]: And you know, I always wondered why Theron was so fast. [SPEAKER_06]: you know, going to recruit Lyara, much faster than Novaria or Ferros, and it sounds like just this mission alone. [SPEAKER_06]: If they had just included this mission and nothing else, that would have been comparable, at least more comparable in time spent, like on Novaria, like on Ferros.
[SPEAKER_06]: And I guess that there was also like a little optional side mission, an assignment that you could do while doing this mission, and it was helping Fred collect that HANAR doctors do's, quote unquote, do's, union do's, or instead you could help that HANAR doctor escape. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, okay.
[SPEAKER_04]: And that probably would have had circling repercussions as Fred still there, or not still there. [SPEAKER_04]: Interesting. [SPEAKER_06]: And then we get this big reveal that you remember that mercenary that we were teeming up with Sessa. [SPEAKER_06]: Apparently Sessa is sleeping with Raka Loma.
[SPEAKER_06]: Um, I think Sess is a human, right? [SPEAKER_06]: Yes. [SPEAKER_06]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_06]: I believe Sess is a human. [SPEAKER_06]: Let me look that up. [SPEAKER_06]: I just want to make sure, yes, Sessa is a human, or was supposed to be a human. [SPEAKER_06]: So full name is Sessa Terrent, if you want to look it up, anyone.
[SPEAKER_06]: And I guess that they had worked together, Sessa and Rockillam, I had worked together for four years, and that's when they developed that romantic bond. [SPEAKER_06]: That's, so I guess Sessa started calling him Rassil, [SPEAKER_06]: I still don't know which one it is, maybe Rassil, and interestingly, Rockaloma, or Rassaloma, gave her a ring.
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, what? [SPEAKER_04]: That's so sweet. [SPEAKER_06]: They were getting serious. [SPEAKER_04]: And especially for a salarian to take on the human castem of exchanging rings and not contracts, that says a lot. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, I guess it's, and while this is revealed, this is revealed like during a meeting, and it was supposed to be an ambush, right?
[SPEAKER_06]: There's supposed to ambush Smiley. [SPEAKER_06]: However, Rockeloma figures it out really quick before the ambush can happen. [SPEAKER_06]: And during that ensuing shootout, the Wiki tells us that Rockeloma is hit and then dies [SPEAKER_04]: Why do you go to do stuff like that give me something nice and sweet like an engagement between two species and then you kill them off.
[SPEAKER_06]: I know. [SPEAKER_06]: I know. [SPEAKER_06]: So, so that's like a good tone setter. [SPEAKER_06]: I feel like it would have been, you know, in the very early stages of Mass Effect one. [SPEAKER_06]: where it's like, OK, well, yeah, people are going to die. [SPEAKER_06]: So anyway, this leads shepherd to get a key card to smiley's mansion.
[SPEAKER_06]: Sessa is basically like, yeah, rock along my husband, take it. [SPEAKER_06]: And then, [SPEAKER_06]: Shepard gets there, and all of a sudden surprise, Lyra was never there, and Smiley reveals the truth, which is that Tombiri, the administrator, lied to Shepard because Tombiri actually leads the mining union, and essentially wanted Shepard to go in and take care of Smiley for her.
[SPEAKER_04]: I love the twist. [SPEAKER_06]: Yes, I do too. [SPEAKER_04]: I love that so much. [SPEAKER_04]: I hate the fact that Lyra is not here because it makes so much sense for her to be on the planet. [SPEAKER_04]: It's got hundreds of protein ruins on it, but the fact that we get some shading this going on, I really like that.
[SPEAKER_06]: I do too, because it sets that tone about, um, that look, there's going to be unreliable narration, sometimes in mass effect, and there are going to be characters who try to manipulate shepherd into doing their bidding, and of course we get that with likeness on a dantious, we get that with Helena Blake, [SPEAKER_06]: We get that in a few other places, but this being tied to the main story, and this was not a side mission you could skip, this being tied to the main story forces the player to realize that.
[SPEAKER_06]: So ultimately, you can arrest or kill smiley, typical of Mass Effect, it's totally up to you, but you will get betrayed by Sessa as well. [SPEAKER_06]: uh, and then you have to go and confront Tom Beery. [SPEAKER_06]: When you do that, it will determine who is actually leading Caluston.
[SPEAKER_06]: So, Shepherd walks into this place, basically in the middle of a gang fight. [SPEAKER_06]: And ultimately, it's Shepherd who is deciding who is even going to be running the ship, so to speak, on Calliston. [SPEAKER_06]: And it's also where you find out about where Lyra is and there is some, there was supposed to be some kind of like reaction or fallout from your decision about who will lead the station and how you did things.
[SPEAKER_06]: There would be some kind of differences in throwdown [SPEAKER_04]: I know like how we see on a varia on whether anoleus is still in charge or not. [SPEAKER_06]: Right, yeah. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, would have been quite similar. [SPEAKER_06]: So that would have been the last man standing mission, which you can understand now.
[SPEAKER_06]: Why it's called last man standing. [SPEAKER_06]: And I really get a lot of old Western vibes from this one. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's kind of very similar to Novaria about the back stabbingists. [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, Novaria is more corporate, this is more gang, but it still feels very similar just in a different setting.
[SPEAKER_04]: And it might be one of the reasons why it was cut is because it was too similar to the other planets that we have. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_06]: Yep. [SPEAKER_06]: All right. [SPEAKER_06]: Well, that was just one of the missions, Genesis, and you know, I was planning that we would go through the second mission about freeing the prostitutes.
[SPEAKER_06]: But guess what, we've already been talking for about an hour so far. [SPEAKER_06]: So we do have to go to our break and and we've got some fun things to do during our break But what do you think about I mean we shouldn't be doing this live this really fourth wall breaking But what do you think about cutting this into another episode for people to enjoy because I mean otherwise It's gonna be one gigantic episode and most people stop listening after 40 minutes [SPEAKER_04]: You know, I am okay.
[SPEAKER_04]: We're saving the prostitutes next week. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, we need to save her the prostitutes. [SPEAKER_06]: Don't worry. [SPEAKER_06]: We'll save the pegging for the end. [SPEAKER_06]: It was plugging, not pegging. [SPEAKER_06]: There it goes. [SPEAKER_06]: The other one. [SPEAKER_06]: We'll save that one too.
[SPEAKER_06]: It's only that that's not extra redger about that one. [SPEAKER_06]: That one's free. [SPEAKER_06]: That's why it's called free prostitutes It's free, but you have to agree to get pegged anyway. [SPEAKER_06]: This show is going to weigh off the rails Let's go over. [SPEAKER_06]: I'll tell you what.
[SPEAKER_06]: Let's go over to our break And then we're gonna wrap up the show and kind of talk an introduce just a little bit about what we're gonna talk about next week. [SPEAKER_06]: How's that sound? [SPEAKER_04]: Sounds good [SPEAKER_01]: We have beef, bacon, we have beer, the foods of my people.
[SPEAKER_00]: Young men have funny ideas of what a story are like. [SPEAKER_00]: I blame the extra net and computer games. [SPEAKER_03]: Rex, shepherd, grunt, shepherd, Rex. [SPEAKER_06]: Right. [SPEAKER_06]: All right. [SPEAKER_06]: And here we are in the middle of an undoubtedly explicit episode. [SPEAKER_06]: This is normally where we would read your five star reviews.
[SPEAKER_06]: We don't have any new ones from Apple. [SPEAKER_06]: However, we also have been reading some comments from our most recent episodes that we upload on to Spotify. [SPEAKER_06]: Spotify now does allow comments on each different episode, not just the ratings. [SPEAKER_06]: And I see that we do have actually this a brand new comment two hours ago, Mr. Dragon comments it on our episode about human holidays.
[SPEAKER_06]: And Mr. Dragon says, I picture an L-Core saying to a child on a Halloween with regret. [SPEAKER_06]: I don't have any candy. [SPEAKER_06]: You can have a tube of nutrient paste. [SPEAKER_06]: There you go. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, that would be a really fun, fun interaction. [SPEAKER_06]: I feel like a slayer ain't would not even be a apologetic about it.
[SPEAKER_04]: Why are you knocking on my door at human child? [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, I was molting. [SPEAKER_06]: MOLting! [SPEAKER_06]: So thank you, Mr. Dragon, for the wonderful comment. [SPEAKER_06]: Guys, if you want to help us with the show, then honestly, the easiest thing that you can do is tell your friends.
[SPEAKER_06]: If you have friends that like Mass Effect, just tell them, hey, I was so just podcast about Mass Effect lore, you might like it. [SPEAKER_06]: that matters so much as well as leaving a rating or a review for us. [SPEAKER_06]: The rating and review thing that helps with the algorithm and helping our podcast show up to more people who might be interested.
[SPEAKER_06]: And of course, we also have our Patreon. [SPEAKER_06]: Now we're going to shout out our to your five patrons in a little bit, but first, [SPEAKER_04]: This one's called the final hours. [SPEAKER_04]: Now, it definitely doesn't fit the tone of this episode, especially the laughter that we just rolled out of, but it's one of the more beautiful lines that I've ever heard in Mass Effect.
[SPEAKER_06]: Okay, so I'm gonna need a significant beat change to go along with... [SPEAKER_06]: this uh difference in uh in tone okay so final hours very serious sounds very solemn okay here we go are you guys ready here we go my time is running short at least you have given me a figure of hope to brighten the darkness of my final powers [SPEAKER_06]: Oh, I know what this is.
[SPEAKER_06]: I can't remember his name. [SPEAKER_06]: But this is the guy who was dating, there's a Crogan who was dating the Asari and called her his blue rose of Illium. [SPEAKER_06]: And this is a voice log that you find of his during grunts mission in Mass Effect 3, right? [SPEAKER_04]: Run on all counts, buddy.
[SPEAKER_06]: But I didn't say fudge. [SPEAKER_06]: Damn, I was really sure about that one. [SPEAKER_06]: Okay, so wait, let me listen to it again. [SPEAKER_05]: Hold on. [SPEAKER_06]: I think it's the background music that's throwing me off. [SPEAKER_06]: Okay, I'll bite. [SPEAKER_06]: What is this?
[SPEAKER_04]: This is the battalion who is dying of the plague in Mass Effect 2. [SPEAKER_04]: If you go all paragon with him and give him the Medigel and stave it off for a while, this is what he says to you. [SPEAKER_06]: Okay, so that explains it. [SPEAKER_06]: I almost always do Renegade with that guy because I'm like, all right, well, fuck you then.
[SPEAKER_06]: Like, I almost always go Renegade with that guy in particular. [SPEAKER_06]: You know, if you're going to be a dick like then I'm not going to help you. [SPEAKER_04]: No, that makes sense. [SPEAKER_04]: I just did it on my one of the recent playthrough and heard the line, and so that was actually my gameplay footage recording that line.
[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, cool. [SPEAKER_06]: All right. [SPEAKER_06]: Well, I need to be nice to him, so I can get that line, I guess. [SPEAKER_06]: All right, that was a good one. [SPEAKER_06]: You stumped me. [SPEAKER_06]: Okay. [SPEAKER_06]: So we also have some planet cards to read, and in fact, I see one here from this was the cut planet card that was supposed to be for Callostin.
[SPEAKER_06]: And I'm going to read it here from the Wiki. [SPEAKER_06]: We have the data-mind description of Caliston. [SPEAKER_06]: It says geysers of molten sulfur dot the rugged landscape of this volcanic moon. [SPEAKER_06]: It's atmosphere, a toxic layer of sulfur dioxide. [SPEAKER_06]: Eldville Ashland Energy established mining operations on Caliston to extract the scattered deposits of element [SPEAKER_06]: making this moon the largest source of Starship Drive Cormaterial in the Atticant Traverse.
[SPEAKER_06]: So that's pretty cool, it's a pretty cool little intro to establish legitimacy and why there would be such a sizable population on some kind of random volcanic moon that sounds like it's kind of held to be on because it's like volcanic and it has a thick atmosphere of sulfur dioxide. [SPEAKER_06]: So you tell me that everywhere smells like a fart.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Maybe that's why the bar was one of the first things to establish. [SPEAKER_06]: Hmm. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_06]: That means whenever you went outside when you'd come back in through the airlock, like you probably smelled like farts. [SPEAKER_04]: Then again, you could also crop dust with that anybody knowing it.
[SPEAKER_04]: So, all good. [SPEAKER_06]: True. [SPEAKER_06]: And then again, we also don't know if alien farts smell like sulfur. [SPEAKER_06]: We know human farts do. [SPEAKER_04]: I wonder if the dextromino food would actually change that I am not going down a rabbit hole on whether Turian Bart's smell different than humans though, that's something you can do on your own time.
[SPEAKER_06]: Kind of a little reddit to do that, just like their fascination with a Korean sweat. [SPEAKER_06]: So moving on, Genesis, you noted something here about pod jacer. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, so it's one of the apps that people do listen to podcasts on, and I noticed that the Mass Effect Lourkast only has two ratings.
[SPEAKER_04]: on that. [SPEAKER_04]: And it's, you know, one person was saying that they only listen to like one and a half episodes and then left their review, you all got to give us a little bit of time, especially back all those years ago. [SPEAKER_04]: So if you are listening to us on pod chaser right now, can you do us a solid and boost that rating from a 3.5 because I definitely think that we are [SPEAKER_06]: Well, that person was also upset about the fact that I guess that they got an ad for US border patrol when they were listening to our show and just so everyone's aware we don't like choose our ads like we don't we don't have control over that that's I'm not going to get into the the too many details of it but like I'm surprised when I hear you know some of the ads that are on it and if there's one that I hear where I'm like I have a real problem with that
[SPEAKER_06]: will talk to the people who do do our ads, but yeah, that's not, that's not on us. [SPEAKER_06]: If it was on us, I wouldn't be having a US border patrol ad. [SPEAKER_04]: No, and I know that Spotify, if you were boycotting Spotify due to them running ice ads, and so therefore you were saying, hey, I am no longer going [SPEAKER_04]: Um, they are no longer running the advertisements for ice.
[SPEAKER_04]: And so I think that one way that we can say like, hey, our protest against your company worked, you changed your things. [SPEAKER_04]: Now I'm going to reward you by coming back to it. [SPEAKER_04]: So if you were a spot if I user stopped out of boycott, now is a good time to come back to it because they are now no longer running those ends.
[SPEAKER_06]: That's right. [SPEAKER_06]: And you know, I did hear about that controversy. [SPEAKER_06]: I didn't know whether or not any of them ever appeared on our show. [SPEAKER_06]: I don't think they did. [SPEAKER_06]: Did they? [SPEAKER_04]: I don't know about this one, but they showed up on cyberpunk.
[SPEAKER_06]: I'll fuck that. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_06]: Wow. [SPEAKER_06]: That's particularly ironic, too. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, cyberpunk. [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, ice doesn't even exist in the world of cyberpunk anymore. [SPEAKER_06]: So right. [SPEAKER_06]: Well, but the US does get involved in some Latin American wars that are kind of important.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, that they do. [SPEAKER_06]: All right. [SPEAKER_06]: Well, we have to think our patrons. [SPEAKER_06]: We don't have any new patrons this week or if you are a new patron and you just signed up. [SPEAKER_06]: Sometimes there's a little bit of a delay in us trying to get that notification.
[SPEAKER_06]: But we do want to shout out our tier 5 patrons, but spots, but spots. [SPEAKER_06]: Unfortunately, a benefactor, William, superfly 440, Reddrobot, Lieutenant to Sino, Kira C, Edboy, and Daisy Row. [SPEAKER_06]: Thank you all so much for your incredible continued support of this show. [SPEAKER_06]: We wouldn't be able to do it without folks like you.
[SPEAKER_06]: So with that, let's get back to the remainder of the show, which is very little thanks to our immaculate timing this week. [SPEAKER_06]: But all right, here we go. [SPEAKER_02]: After time and drift among open stars, alongside the light and through shows of dust, I will return to where I began.
[SPEAKER_01]: Celery and reproduction different, very little sex-trived. [SPEAKER_01]: If intended to try human, would try you. [SPEAKER_01]: Ow, my bakeries! [SPEAKER_06]: Okay, and here we are in the, I'm not going to say second half, the second part of the show, where we have already addressed one of the main missions that we would have gone on.
[SPEAKER_06]: The other one, of course, being getting Lyara on Calustin. [SPEAKER_06]: But there's some pretty interesting side missions as well, right, Genesis 1. [SPEAKER_06]: We've been teasing for lack of a better word for the whole episode. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, so there is Calliston free prostitutes, which is a mission where you can rescue the prostitutes.
[SPEAKER_04]: I will get into all my thoughts and feels on that one next week for sure. [SPEAKER_04]: Redemption, which is very much tied into the free prostitutes. [SPEAKER_04]: Those two missions go hand in hand because a lot of the characters overlap in it. [SPEAKER_04]: And then there's a third one of Calistin Reactive Production.
[SPEAKER_04]: And this one is very, very short and feels just like the mission that we did in Zeus Hope of Goldfix the Water Maintenance line. [SPEAKER_04]: Go find the battery, go do this. [SPEAKER_04]: And so that's basically all that this mission is. [SPEAKER_04]: Has a breach and we've got to go fix the pyro lines for them.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, every planet needs a little bit of fetch quests here and there right yep definitely get it But it also comes it like it specifically mentions that you have to have the technical training in order to complete this mission or Bring Garus tally or Caden along with you [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_06]: That would be, I would have loved to have seen the different reactions from our squad mates in the free prostitutes mission. [SPEAKER_06]: because I still haven't read through the details on what would have happened on that mission. [SPEAKER_06]: But I'd like to imagine that if you were trying to romance Ashley and you had already flirted at that point, or if you were trying to romance Caden, you had already flirted at that point that they would have made some kind of remark to you.
[SPEAKER_06]: If you had made a pass at any of the prostitutes. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, I mean, they don't say a damn thing if you go with the consorts, so I don't know if they would have anything to say. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, they just stand there watching. [SPEAKER_06]: I know. [SPEAKER_04]: It's a little awkward.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_06]: Well, you get the Titanic hand on the windows scene. [SPEAKER_04]: my favorite thing. [SPEAKER_04]: The only thing other thing that I have to mention about this is that the character that sends you on this mission can be the new administrator if you decide to kill off Tom Berry.
[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, okay. [SPEAKER_06]: That's interesting. [SPEAKER_06]: Wow. [SPEAKER_06]: So can you imagine the cow that Fox News would have [SPEAKER_06]: If free prostitutes had been included in that final game? [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, oh, sorry. [SPEAKER_04]: I meant for the reactive production, the maintenance officer, Ren Carson, could become the new leader of throwdown if you killed off Tom Berry.
[SPEAKER_06]: Man, I want one of the prostitutes to lead throwdown. [SPEAKER_06]: Different meaning to the name now. [SPEAKER_06]: Just a little bit. [SPEAKER_04]: And I'm excited to talk about this one because there's a lot more to it than just the prostitution aspect. [SPEAKER_04]: There's also alcoholism and falling in love with sex workers.
[SPEAKER_04]: So I cannot wait to talk to you guys about that next week. [SPEAKER_06]: I can't wait to hear about it. [SPEAKER_06]: I don't know too much about it right now, but I'm just like imagining each of the characters in this hypothetical brothel. [SPEAKER_06]: And like I'm for some reason imagining a really jaded like salarian madam.
[SPEAKER_04]: That would be interesting for sure. [SPEAKER_04]: I don't think we know this no, no, we do know the species of it so [SPEAKER_06]: All right. [SPEAKER_06]: All right. [SPEAKER_06]: But we're going to save that for next week. [SPEAKER_06]: Um, anyway, so sorry. [SPEAKER_06]: We delayed the mid break so long for you guys.
[SPEAKER_06]: Hopefully it was an entertaining enough mid break. [SPEAKER_06]: Uh, but we are going to be back next week talking more about Calliston, more about the content that we could have gotten. [SPEAKER_06]: Uh, and trust me, there's, there's, there's a lot of cut content that we're going to get through.
[SPEAKER_06]: So, hopefully you liked this episode. [SPEAKER_06]: I had a great time, Genesis, any final thoughts on the first part of Kaleston? [SPEAKER_04]: I wish that we had had it. [SPEAKER_04]: And I kind of wish that moderns would just create it. [SPEAKER_04]: You know, let's see what this mission would have looked like.
[SPEAKER_04]: We have so much of the dialogue already pre-recorded, so it wouldn't have to be like, [SPEAKER_04]: you know, because I don't want AI generated lines or anything like that, but the fact that so much of the dialogue is there. [SPEAKER_04]: And knowing that, I would have no issues reading off the screen what dialogue was supposed to be there if it wasn't voiced.
[SPEAKER_04]: You know, if I could just get what this would have looked like. [SPEAKER_06]: Or, you know, just get some, you know, volunteer voice actors [SPEAKER_06]: Alright, well, um, yeah, this is a really fun episode. [SPEAKER_06]: I so wish that we had gotten calisthen, um, maybe maybe in the future we can be lucky enough to get a mod that restores calisthen, uh, or maybe there is one.
[SPEAKER_06]: And we don't know about it. [SPEAKER_06]: And if someone knows about it, you should tell us. [SPEAKER_06]: Um, but yeah, I, uh, [SPEAKER_06]: I am trying to get back into streaming, as I've told you before, the schedule with my son right now is kind of leaving both my wife and I very exhausted.
[SPEAKER_06]: And so I am trying to work up whatever energy that I have, but honestly, I'm like falling asleep at my desk, trying to squeeze in an hour of me time after my son goes to sleep most days. [SPEAKER_06]: So I'm trying, but [SPEAKER_06]: Follow me, keep your notifications on for my streams at in 7th legend on Twitch, and I will be streaming at least once over the next week playing a few different games.
[SPEAKER_06]: I just got back into Fallout 76 with a buddy of mine, so maybe I'll stream that, maybe I won't also playing the second half of Tainted Grail Fall of Avalon. [SPEAKER_06]: So, uh, yeah, Genesis, what you got going on and how can people get a hold of you? [SPEAKER_04]: Uh, let's see, I have been getting back into the Witcher.
[SPEAKER_04]: So I've been playing a lot of Witcher 3 lately. [SPEAKER_04]: Kind of gearing up for hopefully within the next two, three years. [SPEAKER_04]: Maybe more for which are for to come out. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm very excited about that. [SPEAKER_04]: Um, [SPEAKER_04]: I'm kind of going through a lot of older games that I just feel like playing again.
[SPEAKER_04]: So Mass Effect 2 is on the list after my witcher run is done. [SPEAKER_04]: And hopefully getting back into sharing. [SPEAKER_04]: I really want to go through some more sharing shepherd. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, for those who don't know, that's the name of character that we made and are sharing together.
[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know if there's a Sharon in Genesis's life that she's also looking to get back into, but I guess we could address that next week. [SPEAKER_06]: When we talk about the free prostitutes. [SPEAKER_06]: Alright, with that guys, we will catch you later and we should go. [SPEAKER_06]: Thanks for listening to the Mass Effect War text.
[SPEAKER_06]: Reach out to us on Blue Sky, Twitter, Discord, Patreon, or email us at Mass EffectLoreCast at gmail.com. [SPEAKER_04]: Join us next week for more lore, same space, same time. [SPEAKER_04]: We'll check out our live streams at twitch.tv slash Mass Effect WarCast.
