[SPEAKER_07]: I'm Commander Shepherd, and this is my favorite lorecast on the Citadel. [SPEAKER_10]: Welcome to the Mass Effect lorecast. [SPEAKER_10]: I'm in seven the legend. [SPEAKER_08]: And I'm Genesis. [SPEAKER_08]: Join us. [SPEAKER_10]: As we explore along tides of light. [SPEAKER_10]: And through sholes of dust.
[SPEAKER_10]: To see where this lore began. [SPEAKER_08]: And consider where it may go. [SPEAKER_10]: Specters, welcome back to another patron chat episode of the Mass Effect Lordcast. [SPEAKER_10]: I'm your host in 7 Allegend, and I have my voice back as you can hear and joining me as always is my wonderful cohost Genesis.
[SPEAKER_08]: Hello, happy to be here and happy that you're feeling better. [SPEAKER_08]: I like it when you're fully engaging and can speak and it doesn't hurt to talk. [SPEAKER_10]: I was barely vertical last week, so so there's that. [SPEAKER_10]: But now I'm on meds and I am vertical and I'm feeling like 90% better.
[SPEAKER_10]: But joining both of us are our wonderful patrons who are here for the end of the month chat. [SPEAKER_10]: Uh, when we have on the count of three, everybody says hi. [SPEAKER_10]: Okay. [SPEAKER_10]: One, two, three. [SPEAKER_10]: Hi. [SPEAKER_10]: Hi. [SPEAKER_08]: Hi. [SPEAKER_10]: There we go.
[SPEAKER_10]: Genesis, you didn't say hi. [SPEAKER_08]: I did. [SPEAKER_08]: I said hi. [SPEAKER_10]: Oh, I didn't hear you. [SPEAKER_10]: Okay. [SPEAKER_10]: That's my fault. [SPEAKER_10]: Alright. [SPEAKER_10]: Well, anyway, we are here. [SPEAKER_10]: We were talking about deleted scenes, cut content, that kind of thing, or the past couple weeks.
[SPEAKER_10]: And so one of our patrons Andrew Scott said, what if we did [SPEAKER_10]: an episode on the patron chat where we discuss if you could create a mission and mass effect what kind of mission would you make and this doesn't you know there's it doesn't seem like he wanted to have any limitations on this he he basically said you know you could dream up a small side quest or a major mission uh and maybe you could think of it as what mission do you wish that the developers [SPEAKER_10]: to do, but had to cut instead, like Calliston, like we were talking about there.
[SPEAKER_10]: So I can't wait to get into some of, you know, the wonderful ideas that I'm going to hear here and probably going to fill me with, I don't even know if there's a word and English to describe, you know, longing for something that never was, but that's how I feel when we talk about Calliston.
[SPEAKER_10]: So, [SPEAKER_08]: I'm going to look up to see if there is a word for that in any language because I think there's got to be a word for it. [SPEAKER_10]: There must be. [SPEAKER_10]: So, all right, well, with that, I don't want to delay any further. [SPEAKER_10]: I'm going to go around in clockwise order from my screen.
[SPEAKER_10]: In Genesis, I'm going to save you and I for last. [SPEAKER_10]: So that means that superfly for 40, you are up first. [SPEAKER_10]: If you're ready to tell us what kind of mission that you would create for Mass Effect. [SPEAKER_10]: So why don't we start with Big Mission Small Mission? [SPEAKER_10]: which game it would appear in and who would be involved?
[SPEAKER_11]: Oh, throw me in the bus right away. [SPEAKER_11]: Um, I rack my brain ever since I read that for Andrew and, uh, lately I've been playing Starward Outlaws, which is kind of a, I don't know if anyone here's played. [SPEAKER_11]: It's got it's cross between assassins, Creed, Star Wars and GTA.
[SPEAKER_11]: It's, it's pretty fun. [SPEAKER_11]: There's some ups and downs, but anyway, [SPEAKER_11]: Mass Effect from what I recall only has one stealth mission where you're hiding or trying not to get caught. [SPEAKER_11]: And that's the MS effect too. [SPEAKER_11]: When you're trying to rescue Dr. Penson, if we had more missions that required stealth and sneaking, I'd like something like that, maybe in a Mass Effect three, or if you're trying to get around a group of a larger group of, [SPEAKER_11]: Husks or something like that and you can't really engage him because if you do you'll get overrun something like that.
[SPEAKER_11]: I think that would be a lot of fun to at least change the pace of the game a little bit. [SPEAKER_11]: I'm a big fan of stealth games so adding that to my favorite games here just would make it even better for me. [SPEAKER_10]: I think that could probably work in the next Mass Effect that's coming out because, you know, all the indicators that we've seen have teased at this, you know, clandestine kind of theme going on.
[SPEAKER_10]: You know, we've got the, uh, in seven agent who may or may not be the player character wearing that duster coat, uh, over and over again, we have by aware referring to the fans and [SPEAKER_10]: So it looks like there is kind of a shadowy feel to the next mass effect. [SPEAKER_10]: So I think that's a, that's a, uh, uh, an excellent idea.
[SPEAKER_10]: Did you have any specific, uh, kind of, you know, who would be leading the mission? [SPEAKER_10]: What would be the ultimate goal? [SPEAKER_10]: Uh, what's the setting there? [SPEAKER_11]: I, I'm not that great to get to those kind of details. [SPEAKER_11]: Um, well, I think that I said something to do with, you know, you might be a fetch mission where you're trying to get a specific, um, [SPEAKER_11]: I mean, I try to fetch something and you have a sneak around a big group of husks or something like that and just kind of make it change up a little bit so you're not always running guns and blazing so for you would be more about the gameplay than it would be about the the lore and the the story of why you need to be stealthy.
[SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, I mean, it wouldn't be like the whole game, but just like one specific event in our mission. [SPEAKER_11]: Maybe you're back on Earth and before you do the final run, you have to go rescue one of your teammates from that Reaper Infested Area or something like that. [SPEAKER_10]: That'd be cool, yeah.
[SPEAKER_10]: High value target extraction. [SPEAKER_10]: That'd be awesome. [SPEAKER_10]: What I wanna open up this to the whole group here. [SPEAKER_10]: Anyone you're willing to chime in if you have thoughts on what it would be like to have another stealth mission in Mass Effect. [SPEAKER_10]: And maybe you wanna like take that idea and run with a little bit more.
[SPEAKER_10]: I'm sure super fly for 40 would be fun with that. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, Redtrovad, I see you holding your hand up. [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, if they're going to put in more stealth missions, I think it'd be cool if they added more weapons that are silenced like the pistol from the Citadel DLC or more weapons like that man, that's still will so OP and was like also I want the option that like I don't I don't like mandatory stealth and role playing games because it feels like sometimes the character you created is like my character would be like, [SPEAKER_02]: Fuck it, I'm just going to start shooting people, so I don't like mandatory stuff, but if they have more missions where it's like you can choose, take more silent route and it can be easier, or if you just be like, nah, fuck it, I'm in a bunch of armor, I'm just going to go shit did's.
[SPEAKER_10]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_10]: I like that idea in that addition to that you might have the choice to do so. [SPEAKER_10]: And maybe depending, you know, how you handle things, if you go a stealthy route, you perhaps have a different cutscene or a different ending to that mission, then if you go in guns blazing.
[SPEAKER_10]: Genesis, I see you nodding. [SPEAKER_08]: The cyberpunk has a lot of missions like that where it gives you the option to take the stealth route and you'll get a bonus from the person who gave it to you or they'll also give you the option where you'll get a bonus if you go in guns blazing and make a statement.
[SPEAKER_08]: And so, both missions can be done both ways. [SPEAKER_08]: You just get a bonus depending on which one the client has requested. [SPEAKER_08]: And I could see that translating over to Mass Effect and giving us the option to be stealthy because I think in so many of these, if you leave enemies standing, you're not progressing.
[SPEAKER_08]: The door's not going to unlock you physically can't move forward. [SPEAKER_08]: But having stealth option missions would be really cool. [SPEAKER_08]: Because Kusumi is, sorry, Kusumi's side mission was so much fun because it was completely a complete shift in how shepherd normally interacts with people.
[SPEAKER_08]: And this one was more, you know, going in as the spy, got to do a whole bunch of those things. [SPEAKER_08]: And I guess the Citadel DLC in the casino area was also a little bit more stealthy, but neither of those were combat involved, so you couldn't, you know, secretly take somebody down silently.
[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, there just wasn't a lot of mechanics, you know, to to be able to do that, you know, was, is a cover-based shooter, right? [SPEAKER_10]: That's what Mass Effect was and, and yeah, I agree. [SPEAKER_10]: It would have been cool if there had been, uh, of the more clandestimations, some combat sprinkled in, you know, there was the beginning, uh, portion after, you know, um, that sushi bar breaks open, right?
[SPEAKER_10]: And you can handle that, stealthily, but it's not like, [SPEAKER_10]: It's not like really told to you that you should, you know what I mean? [SPEAKER_10]: And it's also very difficult to do so. [SPEAKER_10]: I would have liked it if I had seen the tactical cloak wielded in such a way that would be more useful for that.
[SPEAKER_10]: Curina, I see you nodding and you raised your hand. [SPEAKER_10]: What would you like to add? [SPEAKER_01]: I'm a huge uncharted film and you often have the choice between full combat or stealth. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't really like stealth, but I think that if you go too fast sometimes if you go full combat mode, you can miss a lot of things because you advance really fast and you miss a lot of [SPEAKER_01]: treasures or something like that.
[SPEAKER_01]: So I think it's interesting the idea that if you go stealth, you can have different scenes or different assets maybe or rewards or something like that. [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I like this idea. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, absolutely. [SPEAKER_10]: Well, super fly. [SPEAKER_10]: Um, I think that was a wonderful idea.
[SPEAKER_10]: And I'd love to hear what, um, you know, people listening to this are watching the video, uh, have to think about it. [SPEAKER_10]: So you can always drop a comment. [SPEAKER_10]: Uh, and that goes for every idea we talk about here. [SPEAKER_10]: But before we move on, I want to go to astronaut, astronaut, what do you have to add to this idea of adding a stealth mission?
[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, and I'm kind of maybe taking on the screen that's common. [SPEAKER_09]: I'm not the best with stealth vision, just with the lack of patients, but I do find that stealth missions in games offer a lot of opportunities for like witty conversations. [SPEAKER_09]: And [SPEAKER_09]: Dialogue that you typically don't get during like a combat type Like seen and so I feel like like with the set of the DLC and like they could see you know and like assuming means mission You get like a lot of like dialogue and I think that adds a lot to the lap.
[SPEAKER_09]: I'm sorry for a lot to it as well So [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, there's a lot of, there's a lot of chances for dynamic cutscenes with that, I agree. [SPEAKER_10]: And day, day zero, you've got your hand up. [SPEAKER_10]: What were you have to say about adding stealth to Mass Effect? [SPEAKER_10]: And if I know you well enough, I feel like your answer might involve day as X.
[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, yeah, kind of. [SPEAKER_03]: But overall, what this is sounding to me is, [SPEAKER_03]: like one of my favorite things and if you be soft game and that is like the outposts from like a far cry game. [SPEAKER_03]: And I really dig that idea because that can lead to so much so many varying emergent gameplay opportunities.
[SPEAKER_03]: So if it's a the next Mass Effect is a game built like completely on mechanics [SPEAKER_03]: You know, anything like that, you can interact with stuff in the world, I think that would be like a perfect repeatable mission, maybe like of grades or you find schematics or something. [SPEAKER_10]: And that's leaning me to wonder what it would be like to have a mass effect that really focused on the physics of the engine, right?
[SPEAKER_10]: Where you actually feel like you could throw objects that were not weapons to manipulate your environment, you know, to aid in stealth games where you can do that. [SPEAKER_10]: Like, you know, the other scrolls games or even bothersgate 3. [SPEAKER_10]: You know, helps with stealth. [SPEAKER_10]: All right.
[SPEAKER_10]: Well, anyone else before we move on to Carina? [SPEAKER_10]: Okay. [SPEAKER_10]: Well, Carina, I hate to put you on this spot, but it's literally my job. [SPEAKER_10]: So, what would you say you'd like to see in Mass Effect if you could create your own mission? [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, so I...
[SPEAKER_01]: The Mass Effect Mission I came up with is one I've always wanted to see in the games a chance to visit the Choirian Flatilla and meet Julian Grayson. [SPEAKER_01]: So the idea is that your pain gets invited onto a Choirian ship to investigate [SPEAKER_01]: something like they want technical help or something like that, when you arrive you finally get to see what everyday life on the quarry and ship actually looks like, like the living spaces, the constant repairs, the kids learning engineering, like an intimate look at their culture, [SPEAKER_01]: And then you meet Jillian.
[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe she tells you she's been sensing something unusual in the ship or in the quarry and stink. [SPEAKER_01]: It's just a glitch or something. [SPEAKER_01]: So you investigate with Jillian. [SPEAKER_01]: And you know, it can be maybe after a massive three [SPEAKER_01]: post-war reconstruction era, so yeah, it's something I would like to see.
[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, you know, that bit is quite regrettable that we didn't get any real gameplay time aside from Tally's loyalty mission. [SPEAKER_10]: And even then, we didn't really get a look at mundane life for Koreans. [SPEAKER_10]: We really just went point eight, a point b, and then got to see, you know, what is a military tribunal, which was also a sham anyway.
[SPEAKER_10]: So we did not get a good look at [SPEAKER_10]: Let's open it up on the floor to everyone else, you know, what would you like to see in that kind of mission where we are able to go on the quarry in Flotilla, maybe meet Jillian Grayson from the novels. [SPEAKER_08]: I think it would be great, you know, the idea of getting that slice of life because we do get a very vivid description of what that looks like in the books, but some people like myself are very visual people.
[SPEAKER_08]: I need to see it. [SPEAKER_08]: I need to I need to be able to look at it. [SPEAKER_08]: My minds. [SPEAKER_08]: I can't always fill in what it is, and especially when left up to interpretation. [SPEAKER_08]: Um, so to be able to see that, uh, because I'm really intrigued on what their houses look like, where it was just like, oh, this is this small tiny room with just like a couple of sheets for doors and like all this stuff that they were talking about seemed really, really interesting, uh, and to be able to see that because we didn't get to see it.
[SPEAKER_08]: Um, [SPEAKER_08]: and then Gillian of course is an amazing character who we will talk about soon on the show but having her involved in the story and bringing her back from deep space where she's out right now canonically would just kind of tie everything together. [SPEAKER_08]: The external media that was put [SPEAKER_08]: I think it'd be really, really cool.
[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, specifically they're living quarters, like you mentioned, the description we get, and I think it's Mass Effect Assension, right? [SPEAKER_10]: When I was reading through that, I got this picture in my mind of almost like an open floor office concept, where if you've ever been to any office buildings that are like open floor plan, [SPEAKER_10]: That's corporate for cubicles, where there's a bunch of gray cubicles with just one opening in it, maybe even cubicle pods.
[SPEAKER_10]: I was just imagining that with sheets over them, basically. [SPEAKER_10]: And the warm glow of different colored lanterns in each one of them. [SPEAKER_10]: Nick Nax hung up on the walls and that kind of thing, it would have done a lot for world building. [SPEAKER_10]: Had we been able to experience that in the game.
[SPEAKER_10]: Now, I'm sure that there were probably some reasons why the developers never did that maybe time. [SPEAKER_10]: I mean, we know from having spoken to some of the developers that they were on super crunch mode, like pretty much all the time. [SPEAKER_10]: So there was probably like a million and one super cool ideas that they wanted to add in and I'm willing to bet that this was one of them.
[SPEAKER_10]: But yeah, all right. [SPEAKER_10]: Well, about the Korean flotilla. [SPEAKER_10]: What else would you guys want to see in such a mission? [SPEAKER_10]: Would you want it to be more of a slice of life mission or would you want another combat mission involving the chlorine flow till I mean we do know that servers was involved during the server's essential level So that could open up some gameplay opportunities But again if it if it has to be I guess it doesn't have to be in mass effect one through three could be in the next mass effect [SPEAKER_10]: could be in in in in in in drama to I suppose super fly.
[SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, I'm going to kind of spring word off of what you're saying on a Korean as idea. [SPEAKER_11]: One thing that was kind of [SPEAKER_11]: lacking, I guess, for various reasons, but so we didn't get to see any of their big cities or their planets or anything like that of any of the races, really.
[SPEAKER_11]: There's a couple of missions where you're on Thessia or one mission where you're in Thessia, and that's it, and you're one mission on the Slayerin homeworld, and there's one mission on the Cargon homeworld, and then there's one mission on the moon of [SPEAKER_11]: But you don't really get to see anything beyond the small pieces of their where you're at, feeling you're very confined when you go to these places and you don't really get to explore.
[SPEAKER_11]: One thing I'd like to see maybe would be like an open world concept where you can go and [SPEAKER_10]: Oh, man, that would be a couple of missions or anything like that in there, the cities as well have multiple hubs per home world that would be very crazy that would be crazy in terms of like it would be fun being awesome idea.
[SPEAKER_10]: However, the a lot of work and I would wonder how like if that were the case, I wouldn't want them to do more than like I think two cities [SPEAKER_10]: per homeworld, otherwise if we're at risk of like diluting things, like star field did. [SPEAKER_10]: I don't know if you have ever played star field, but um, started to and get into it.
[SPEAKER_10]: My point proven. [SPEAKER_10]: So it's it's because you know, I love star field and and take this from somebody who put 250 plus hours or something like that into star field, um, that some of the stuff because there were so many planets. [SPEAKER_10]: got deluded as opposed to like if there had been a fourth of those planets or a tenth of those planets even.
[SPEAKER_10]: But yeah, all right, any other ideas or additions or subtractions or edits to the idea of a Korean flotilla mission? [SPEAKER_10]: All right, well, seeing no objections, let's move on to U-Redge Robot, [SPEAKER_02]: I would add running through side mission for Conrad Werner if you chose the renegade interactions with him and want.
[SPEAKER_02]: Because like, depending on how you interact with him in the first game, he'll come back in the second and third. [SPEAKER_02]: That's only if you're being nice to him. [SPEAKER_02]: So like, if you're addicted to him in the first game, I think it would be funny if you got a mission from hack it where he's just like, [SPEAKER_02]: aligned to military and they're like just getting fucked up while these guys.
[SPEAKER_02]: So you need to go help them then you pull up and turns that to be Conrad runner charge all these guys or trying to be their own like picture of like because like [SPEAKER_02]: You told a car at the fuck off from the first game, so he just like, I'm going to be the hero you said you're supposed to be, but he's just bad at it.
[SPEAKER_10]: He's like, it's like stolen Valor but like in the worst possible circumstance where he's putting himself and others in real danger. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, all right, that's that's fascinating. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_10]: So we could have an entirely separate Conrad Werner's plot line if it's what you're saying.
[SPEAKER_10]: What do you guys think about that? [SPEAKER_10]: Giving Conrad a dark side plot line, so to speak. [SPEAKER_10]: Genesis looks like you like that idea. [SPEAKER_08]: You know, initially I was against it, but now I'm kind of loving it because if you do, you know, go run a gate with him, he dies in a text message.
[SPEAKER_08]: And I've always hated that, you know, you just get a little mission, you get a little message on your terminal that Conrad's dead. [SPEAKER_08]: And so in order to see it happening instead, I think I would feel better about it. [SPEAKER_08]: Or, you know, maybe you could talk him down from the ledge on on the renegade side mission instead.
[SPEAKER_08]: or make it even worse for him, however you're feeling. [SPEAKER_08]: I'm very protective of Conrad, so I don't like seeing him dead, but I think giving him a side mission for Renegade is awesome. [SPEAKER_10]: What if Conrad was the only other person besides Shepard in the original trilogy where your choice is also altered his physical appearance?
[SPEAKER_10]: So if you handled him extremely renegade he got this like evil little curly mustache [SPEAKER_10]: And maybe like some like little, it-it-it-it-it-dival horns. [SPEAKER_10]: That's an old-fable reference, but, um, you know, and if he was Paragon, maybe he, like, got a more chiseled, like, Chad, jawline, you know what I'm saying?
[SPEAKER_08]: I can't do that. [SPEAKER_08]: Oh, okay. [SPEAKER_08]: Uh, I was gonna say, you know, like, his, he could have a Paragon Renegade scars that match your own. [SPEAKER_10]: There he go. [SPEAKER_10]: He's like a mirror. [SPEAKER_10]: He's a reflection of you. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, and then maybe after you get your scars if you do the med Bay Treatment, you get him removed.
[SPEAKER_10]: He's like, you can take away your scars shepherd, but I remember The galaxy remember Yeah, yeah, there we go. [SPEAKER_10]: Conrad Werner as daymailing is not something I wanted to imagine, but thank you You're welcome All right, what are the rest of you guys think about a conrad Werner plot line?
[SPEAKER_10]: How would you handle that? [SPEAKER_11]: I love this idea. [SPEAKER_11]: I really do. [SPEAKER_11]: I'm a big Conrad fan. [SPEAKER_11]: I love this storyline and that I think having that as potential outcome to the the storyline makes it. [SPEAKER_11]: It would make it that much more fun that much more satisfying of it and because it's such a.
[SPEAKER_11]: His ending that you get. [SPEAKER_11]: finding out that he's this brilliant scientist who takes on this dark matter after all the dumb stuff he does in the first two games. [SPEAKER_11]: It just makes it that much more fun if we can get something like that. [SPEAKER_11]: I love it. [SPEAKER_10]: What if what if you adjusted like the paragon ending to Conrad story a little bit?
[SPEAKER_10]: and buy a little bit. [SPEAKER_10]: I mean, a lot of it. [SPEAKER_10]: So like what if you adjusted the ending so that he had like this out of nowhere tragic anime character death ending where like you're on the final run to the beam and Harbinger is about to just vaporize you with the laser.
[SPEAKER_10]: and then Conrad Verder runs up and yells something to get Harbinger's attention away from you and on to him. [SPEAKER_10]: And because Harbinger's a Reaper, he doesn't really pay close attention to my new differences in facial characteristics of humans. [SPEAKER_10]: And he believes that Conrad is [SPEAKER_10]: You see, Shepard say, no, Conrad, right?
[SPEAKER_10]: Trying to save Conrad and Conrad goes, it's okay, and then fades into the Reaper Beam. [SPEAKER_08]: Wow, wow, um, okay, I kind of really, really liked that way. [SPEAKER_10]: I'm sober, by the way. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, uh, uh, it always had to be in this relationship. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, exactly.
[SPEAKER_10]: Moss, I caught. [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, I believe that we can see him tragically die right in front of our faces in Mass Effect three. [SPEAKER_08]: Okay, fair. [SPEAKER_08]: So that there is that. [SPEAKER_08]: So he can't have it a hero's anime death, but not as wow, not as Harvard jury.
[SPEAKER_09]: I wasn't badging the harbinger one, but just more comical in the way like he like he comes out of nowhere and that harbinger is kind of like hit some of the metal leg and just like spit some of the stuff. [SPEAKER_10]: You got to get out of here. [SPEAKER_10]: It's like a golf ball from a baseball bat.
[SPEAKER_10]: Just sends that fucker flying. [SPEAKER_10]: That would be nuts. [SPEAKER_10]: I feel like that would be a sense of humor that wouldn't really land with everybody. [SPEAKER_10]: I would like it. [SPEAKER_08]: It's like jet black humor, but I'd like it, especially if it's right after the final moment you have with your squad mates, and then you throw in Conrad right there, it would pull you out of the heartfelt moment of that situation.
[SPEAKER_10]: Maybe we could get a line from Mark Meer akin to Steve, but yeah, Conrad. [SPEAKER_10]: Conrad! [SPEAKER_10]: All right. [SPEAKER_10]: Well, that is, that is an awesome, awesome idea. [SPEAKER_10]: I don't see anyone's hands raised to add anything here to this Conrad Werner one. [SPEAKER_10]: So with that, it looks like we're about halfway through this show, right?
[SPEAKER_10]: So when we go ahead and I'm going to go over here and bring up. [SPEAKER_10]: Patreon. [SPEAKER_10]: As we go to the midbrake, because we have some very special people who support this show that we want to give their ample shout out to, as well as some other, maybe comments to read. [SPEAKER_10]: I haven't checked Spotify or Apple today.
[SPEAKER_10]: Have you genesis? [SPEAKER_08]: I have, and we do not have any new reviews to read out. [SPEAKER_10]: We do not. [SPEAKER_10]: Okay. [SPEAKER_10]: Well, regardless, let's hop over to the midbrake, and when we come back, [SPEAKER_10]: uh... oh man the order on my screen has rearranged so when we come back um... hostile we're gonna go to you and uh... giving you more time than most had to think of what kind of mission you'd like to put in mass fact all right here we go we have uh... beef bacon we have beer the foods of my people young men have funny ideas of what a sorry are like i blame the extra net and computer games [SPEAKER_02]: Rex, shepherd, grunt, shepherd, Rex, grunt.
[SPEAKER_10]: All right, here we are in the middle of the show. [SPEAKER_10]: And we read out your five-star reviews when you leave them on Apple podcasts. [SPEAKER_10]: And we also try to pick comments from the most recent published episode on Spotify that we can read them. [SPEAKER_10]: And I'm just going to go over to that episode that's Calistan's prostitutes episode.
[SPEAKER_10]: and it doesn't actually look like we have any comments on the prostitution episode, which is shocking to me. [SPEAKER_10]: So I'm sure that we're going to get some, we just don't have them yet. [SPEAKER_10]: But with that, let's jump over to shout out our tier five patrons, that's butts, butts, unfortunate benefactor, William Superfly, 440, Redrabot, Lieutenant Tocino, Kira C, Edboy, [SPEAKER_10]: So thank you guys for your continued support.
[SPEAKER_10]: No new patrons this week, but guys, if you're listening and you want to support the show Only sign up on the patreon if you're able and willing like if if if if if if if if if your budget is as tight as as mine and a lot of other peoples don't don't like stretch yourself I just want to be like the anti salesman right now and [SPEAKER_10]: I'm just gonna tell you that if you want to support the show and if you're in that boat just tell a friend Just tell a friend about us.
[SPEAKER_10]: Be like, hey, I know you like Mass Effect Here's all I've been spending my commuter here here. [SPEAKER_10]: Here's all I've been passing the time of work I've been listening to this podcast when a friend says that to another human being comes across a lot more organic than any amount of add money Could pay for on online anyway, so All right with that I think that pretty much covers all the bases.
[SPEAKER_10]: Did I forget anything in the mid break this week in? [SPEAKER_08]: No, I think we're good. [SPEAKER_10]: All right, that was off the top my head, by the way. [SPEAKER_10]: So, but Genesis did put our Tier V patron names in the chat for me as a reminder. [SPEAKER_10]: So, thank you, Genesis.
[SPEAKER_10]: And with that, let's get back to the rest of the show. [SPEAKER_05]: After time, I drift among open stars alongside the light and through shows of dust, I will return to where I began. [SPEAKER_00]: Celery and reproduction different, very little sex drive. [SPEAKER_00]: If intended to try human, would try you.
[SPEAKER_00]: Ow, my bakeries. [SPEAKER_10]: All right, Haustrin, I'll bring us back to the Milky Way, or possibly in drama, but what kind of mission would you add to Mass Effect? [SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, I was kind of thinking about this a little bit in the, I guess before I get into, I'll have to say on the Patreon stuff, first time wearing her, like, first time getting the, you know, the shirt, so repinant here.
[SPEAKER_10]: But, oh, yeah, you're going to get a dark marriage shirt. [SPEAKER_10]: That one looks dope. [SPEAKER_09]: Um, yeah, no, that being Jordan. [SPEAKER_09]: Um, yeah, I guess I'm mission. [SPEAKER_09]: I was kind of thinking about, um, it's kind of a modification, maybe, to an existing mission.
[SPEAKER_09]: That's right, too, and then kind of something, maybe, new or a atmospheric dream, but like, um, I was thinking with, um, you know, we have our, um, um, like the squad, but I feel like the star of the show that isn't really like, um, [SPEAKER_09]: Like the start of the show, I would like to see a little bit more of it is always like the norm indeed.
[SPEAKER_09]: And so one of the things that I would have like to see would have been cool like going through the Omega 4 relay. [SPEAKER_09]: If instead of a cutscene, it was like you actually are flying a ship at Joker, kind of like that cutscene where he's trying to escape the collectors, like another game play like that.
[SPEAKER_09]: And I think it would offer a lot of like cool like dialogue. [SPEAKER_09]: And I also think like the upgrades that you get through aspect 2 would like play even more pivotal role if you actually had the ability to like use them during that mission and so like being able to control normally and like fly it through that asteroid field would have been like a really cool and like you can even like Kind of add like that other perspective where those like I forgot what those were the drones that are kind of coming into the ship like it kind of like bounce back and forth between perspectives of like shepherd and like joker.
[SPEAKER_09]: So that was kind of like one of the ones in Mass Effect 2. [SPEAKER_09]: And in Mass Effect 3, I would have like the similar mission, but maybe one that's more like you're like escaping a planet that's getting invaded by the repers. [SPEAKER_09]: Like I would have loved to see like more like one of the things that always impressed me with Mass Effect was just a scale of the repers and just how massive they were.
[SPEAKER_09]: And so like, I'm just imagining my head like you flying the normative like weeping through their legs and like trying to escape like a planet or something like that. [SPEAKER_09]: And so yeah, I just thought that would be pretty cool if you had that ability. [SPEAKER_10]: That would be intense.
[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, that would be awesome, especially if it had some of the flight mechanics like Star Wars squadrons, if anyone's played that. [SPEAKER_10]: That would be so fun. [SPEAKER_10]: And yeah, a lot of effort would need to go into that, but considerably less for like one mission, right? [SPEAKER_10]: If it was just one [SPEAKER_10]: And maybe even it could be a mission where potentially you could skip it, right?
[SPEAKER_10]: You'd probably need to add like a motion sickness mode for those of us who get motion sickness playing playing video games. [SPEAKER_10]: But I would imagine you'd have to do that in third person perspective, right? [SPEAKER_10]: Because Joker's not actually flying by looking out the cockpit.
[SPEAKER_10]: He's looking at his instruments in front of him. [SPEAKER_10]: Genesis, what do you think? [SPEAKER_08]: I think that it'd be a lot of fun because we know that Joker is one of the best pilots in the entire universe, but it also, it would be very interesting to be the one controlling the ship, because we control what.
[SPEAKER_08]: one maybe two cars vehicles while we're out there, I mean other than the make-o, of course, and like when we're on a planet and whatnot, but a flying vehicle, we get very little opportunity to control that. [SPEAKER_08]: And so it would be really interesting to get a little bit of space flight in a space game.
[SPEAKER_08]: It would also be interesting to play as Joker a little bit more because it was it's not fun going through and playing as Joker to that mission is not fun, but it is also it's it's nice to break up the pattern of always playing as one person. [SPEAKER_08]: would be good. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, some more cameo missions would be pretty cool.
[SPEAKER_10]: We could also like, you know, it could weave in cutscenes between different points of action, right, in playing as whoever is flying the Normandy at that given moment. [SPEAKER_10]: Karina, what would you like to add about the flying the Normandy mission? [SPEAKER_01]: well I really like this idea because the Normandy is so central to the story and you remember at the beginning of Mass Effect 2 when you play as Joker it's like so powerful and different and also maybe you can have I don't know like ED helping you or guiding you or something [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, can you imagine you also, perhaps not just like dog fighting, right?
[SPEAKER_10]: Like air to your combat in space, but also, if you could like call down some kind of bombardment planet side to help a ground crew, that would be cool, right? [SPEAKER_10]: A fire of the fanics cannon at that planet, just erase what's under it, go ahead. [SPEAKER_10]: Air support. [SPEAKER_10]: All right.
[SPEAKER_10]: That would be fun. [SPEAKER_10]: That would be fun. [SPEAKER_10]: All right. [SPEAKER_10]: Anyone else have comments on. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, super fly. [SPEAKER_10]: What would you have to? [SPEAKER_11]: Sure. [SPEAKER_11]: I'm I'm just glad I went with my idea I went with because that was the first one I came up with was more flying missions.
[SPEAKER_11]: Because the one you do a mask back to in the the taxis. [SPEAKER_11]: All that great. [SPEAKER_10]: That's in sense. [SPEAKER_11]: It's honestly not a great level and I wish they would have done more with it, but I understand, you know, constraints and time and budget and things like that, as well as the technology it's on.
[SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, I'd love to see more playing in space, finally, even a shuttle, maybe a shuttle. [SPEAKER_10]: Or one of the gunships, right? [SPEAKER_10]: One of those helicopters that we see in several missions like [SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, those would be fun. [SPEAKER_11]: Those would be really fun.
[SPEAKER_11]: We can give one of those maybe at the help. [SPEAKER_11]: Somebody. [SPEAKER_10]: get out of reaper control area and you have to go and like do a bombing mission or something like that and one of those those helicopter like things yeah that's a good good point you know we wouldn't have to be joker to fly vehicle i always kind of hoped that shepherd would end up flying like stealing maybe a server's fighter uh... from that uh... chronostation or getting a fighter jet from somewhere and maybe participating in the final assault [SPEAKER_10]: on earth because, you know, it's sci-fi, right, getting in the fighter and leading and being part of the assault.
[SPEAKER_10]: I mean, it's got red team leader written all over it, right? [SPEAKER_08]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_08]: Yep, so I saw that earlier going with that one. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, exactly. [SPEAKER_10]: So that would be, that would be blessed. [SPEAKER_10]: That would be a blessed. [SPEAKER_10]: All right.
[SPEAKER_10]: Well, anyone else on the flight mission before we move on to, oh, reds your butt. [SPEAKER_10]: What, what would you, how would you handle this? [SPEAKER_02]: I was just thinking that this would be like, [SPEAKER_02]: perfect idea for replacing like the really boring hammer head missions from like Master Effect 2 or whatever where you're like collecting resources like it would be so much cooler if you're game like some like dot fights with the Terrians or something and that's how you're game resources.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah, that's how much more entertaining than like, just keep this floating thing in a circle 30 seconds while your mind is something. [SPEAKER_10]: So so getting into these, you know, dog fights and then once you destroy the enemy ships Going and scavenging the remains right and then finding your resources that way very similar to Starfields Yeah, that was what I was thinking like you just trying to share them out then you just board the ship and yeah take whatever whatever [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, I thought Starfield did that mechanic very well where there was certainly an advantage to having a smaller weaker ship that was just super fast and could turn on a dime and obliterate, you know, you might be a glass cannon, but like good luck if anyone's going to hit you, right?
[SPEAKER_10]: So yeah, that's a very welcome addition as well. [SPEAKER_10]: All right, well, going over to our last, but certainly not least, patron day, zero. [SPEAKER_10]: Day, if you were going to implement a mission in Mass Effect, what kind of mission would it be? [SPEAKER_03]: Uh, I've been really thinking about this for a bit now, and I kind of want more [SPEAKER_03]: just maybe we can finally get that long coveted gambling turnie mission.
[SPEAKER_10]: I was just going to say more quays are right. [SPEAKER_03]: Not only quays are I want space black jack space poker held space. [SPEAKER_03]: Anything else? [SPEAKER_03]: I don't care. [SPEAKER_10]: We'll have our own party with space black jacks and space hookers space prostitution. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, there we go in Dallas.
[SPEAKER_03]: All right. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I was [SPEAKER_03]: That's my, like, maybe there could be like a chain of missions that center around, like a specific mini game that they built. [SPEAKER_03]: So it could be like that one turnny from for Gwent from Blood and Wine DLC. [SPEAKER_03]: So it has its own like storyline.
[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, yeah, I have to be involved. [SPEAKER_03]: It could just be like a little tiny like. [SPEAKER_03]: isolated side story. [SPEAKER_03]: That's like you can get mechanically good at this little mini game. [SPEAKER_10]: What if they actually fleshed out that couldn't quote board game that Samantha Trainer plays in her hangout session on the Citadel DLC?
[SPEAKER_03]: I'd be gone for that too. [SPEAKER_03]: It could be its own separate little thing. [SPEAKER_03]: It's like a [SPEAKER_03]: Like the Joker missions, it's like we were talking before. [SPEAKER_03]: It could just break up the gameplay. [SPEAKER_03]: It doesn't just have to be sit behind a box and shoot.
[SPEAKER_03]: You can go do something else for a little bit. [SPEAKER_03]: Maybe you get rewarded for doing it. [SPEAKER_03]: Maybe the reward is just getting good at something. [SPEAKER_10]: Maybe the reward is playing the game. [SPEAKER_03]: Maybe the game is different, so we won't go away. [SPEAKER_10]: That's awesome.
[SPEAKER_10]: Well, Genesis, what do you think about this? [SPEAKER_10]: What kind of many games did you want to see? [SPEAKER_08]: I just somebody who just completed the Gwent tournament like three nights ago for the, I don't know, 20th time, I am in full support of doing something like this. [SPEAKER_08]: I love little side aspects of a game, a game within the game that I can just play whenever.
[SPEAKER_08]: I don't want to be out there fighting things right now. [SPEAKER_08]: I don't want to be out there saving the galaxy. [SPEAKER_08]: I don't want to be doing that main story line right now, but if I got this repeatable side mission or something that I can just go to relax in, because I also play Magic the Gathering Arena every day.
[SPEAKER_08]: You know, that's I go in there. [SPEAKER_08]: I do the little daily events, and then you know, I move on to whatever else. [SPEAKER_08]: There's something in Mass Effect that I can play. [SPEAKER_10]: How many hours do you have in Arena? [SPEAKER_08]: See how I'm rude, it's like 800, okay?
[SPEAKER_10]: I know, we joke about that, but if you've ever played magic together in a, you know, how addictive it is. [SPEAKER_10]: But yeah, that would, I'm sorry, I continue, but I would love to see a mass-factor condition of arena. [SPEAKER_08]: 426 hours in arena I have 516 in the legendary addiction.
[SPEAKER_10]: Legendary addiction is very fitting. [SPEAKER_10]: That is one legendary addiction. [SPEAKER_08]: Wow. [SPEAKER_10]: That one's going the next best of episode. [SPEAKER_10]: That's where that's going. [SPEAKER_08]: 1,157 hours in Baldur's Gate 3 and yeah, there we go. [SPEAKER_10]: That right there is your legendary addiction.
[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, yeah, I think so. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, no kidding. [SPEAKER_10]: All right, well yeah, TCG, Mass Effect TCG, God, I drop a big, big load of cash on that one. [SPEAKER_10]: All right, one of the rest of you guys think in terms of mini games, did you like the mini games that existed in Mass Effect?
[SPEAKER_10]: Would you want to see maybe a more fleshed out version, do you like mini games and other video games that you play? [SPEAKER_10]: Regret what? [SPEAKER_02]: I think it'd be fun to add more minigames, but I also feel like it's really easy to go too far over in minigames, because I finished playing Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth like last month and there are still many minigames in that it's like to the point where it's annoying and there's like so many games are just terrible that you just hate their mandatory but like.
[SPEAKER_02]: If they had some little side mission where like Shepard just gives really good and playing some like hard game that just has like all the enemies that he's fought and they all different stats like that would be fun. [SPEAKER_10]: It's guitar hero, but it's in Mass Effect. [SPEAKER_10]: Shepard can play through the fire and the flames on expert.
[SPEAKER_03]: No, it's it's a dancing game. [SPEAKER_10]: Dance dance revolution. [SPEAKER_10]: Oh my god, is this expelled 10? [SPEAKER_08]: I want to see Shepard Day and CDR. [SPEAKER_08]: I need this now. [SPEAKER_10]: That I feel like it would just be like a gift of Shepard doing the Shepard shuffle, right?
[SPEAKER_10]: But then like missing every step. [SPEAKER_10]: Like as it's going up the screen, he's just missing every single one. [SPEAKER_10]: Finish with a zero. [SPEAKER_10]: But all right. [SPEAKER_10]: That would be, that would be a blast as well, watching Shepard dance. [SPEAKER_10]: Who do you think, who on the Normandy's crew would probably be the best at DDR?
[SPEAKER_10]: I would, I would bet it's Jack. [SPEAKER_10]: Trainer. [SPEAKER_10]: Valley. [SPEAKER_10]: Wow, we have all like a slew of different answers. [SPEAKER_10]: Okay, hold on. [SPEAKER_10]: Why do you say trainer? [SPEAKER_11]: He's one of those that strikes me is, [SPEAKER_11]: She, when she lets her hair down, she really lets it down, but she tends to keep it up tight when she's around normally.
[SPEAKER_11]: Normal people, but then she gets into the zone, so just let it loose and she'll just hit the floor at that crazy. [SPEAKER_10]: All right, and Genesis, Tally. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, I think Talie would like the dance style of it. [SPEAKER_08]: I think Jack would be like fuck your rules. [SPEAKER_08]: I'm not gonna follow your flashing lights.
[SPEAKER_08]: I dance the way that I want to dance. [SPEAKER_10]: Okay, fair, fair. [SPEAKER_10]: I feel like, you know, who would probably be really good at it, Kasumi, because she's so like agile and light on her feet, right? [SPEAKER_10]: She has to be. [SPEAKER_10]: So, Hostrenup. [SPEAKER_10]: I'm also kind of managing like more than just like everything's just like fast in his head and he's just like even like going like seeing all the arrows and it's going for Can you imagine like the the gal galactic champion of DDR as a salarian just going like 10 miles a minute?
[SPEAKER_08]: Well, it's not going to be an L-Core. [SPEAKER_10]: Well, that's how I was magic in the L-Core, yeah. [SPEAKER_10]: What if the different difficulty settings, like based off of your biology, right? [SPEAKER_10]: Like they're not going to have an L-Core, or maybe you could have like, you know, this freak of nature, right?
[SPEAKER_10]: That's like an L-Core moving its lary and speed, that'd be terrifying. [SPEAKER_08]: Well, if we have giga-chad, salary, and why can't we have like miniature L-Core? [SPEAKER_10]: True, Tazik still lives in my memory, yeah. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, 10, 10. [SPEAKER_10]: Giga chat, he looks like a salarian who ate a salarian.
[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, that's... [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, all right. [SPEAKER_10]: Well, well, awesome idea of the many games I'm thinking of my own right now, maybe like a Mass Effect themed space invaders game. [SPEAKER_10]: We can be kind of funny. [SPEAKER_10]: Genesis, I want to hear about what mission you would implement in Mass Effect if you could.
[SPEAKER_08]: So one of my favorite quiet time moments in Mass Effect is when Shepard and Lyra are talking at the end of the end of Mass Effect 3. [SPEAKER_08]: And it's kind of this quiet sit-down therapy session between these two people. [SPEAKER_08]: Whether you're romantically involved or you're just besties, it's such a touching moment that kind of gives the emotional break that's needed.
[SPEAKER_08]: You then again have a moment like that with your romance partner, but I want that with everybody. [SPEAKER_08]: You know, Lyra is one of the besties, and I do have my love interest, but I'm still really connected to the rest of my squad. [SPEAKER_08]: And if we could just have a quiet sit down, heart to heart moment in Shepherd's quarters, where it's just like we drop all the formality of everything and really talk to each other about everything that's going on.
[SPEAKER_08]: And that has happened because, you know, [SPEAKER_08]: Ashley's death can really affect tally. [SPEAKER_08]: There's different things that happen throughout the entire storyline that it's just like everybody can be just as affected as Shepherd. [SPEAKER_08]: But too many of the squadmates put Shepherd on a higher pedestal to where I'm not going to approach them and ask Shepherd about their feelings.
[SPEAKER_08]: Lyra and your love interest are the only ones who feel comfortable enough to do that. [SPEAKER_08]: I want the rest of the crew to be able to open up to me too. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, yeah, that'd be cool, especially with Grunt. [SPEAKER_10]: What is Grunt thinking about? [SPEAKER_08]: The difficulties of leadership, you know, only being a couple months old and running his own squad.
[SPEAKER_10]: Fair. [SPEAKER_10]: Would you call that failing upward? [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, yeah, I think so he's a little very much so very much so, but that's okay. [SPEAKER_08]: We still love him. [SPEAKER_08]: So yeah, I want one on one therapy sessions with each squad mate in Mass Effect 3. [SPEAKER_10]: What if we had a ship like actual therapist, not not Kelly.
[SPEAKER_10]: I think an actual license psychologist. [SPEAKER_08]: Um, I think that it would be very interesting. [SPEAKER_08]: Um, definitely wouldn't have tried to cure alcoholism on Calisthen by just taking away the alcohol. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, that's not how it works. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: And I do think I should really do think that that would have helped in so many different situations, but then I also don't think that we would have gotten the really cool nightmare sequences because if you're working through your shit, you generally don't have nightmares about the shit that you're working through.
[SPEAKER_10]: I was going to say how exciting and and poignant would [SPEAKER_08]: So it's very much that balancing system of, you know, yes, breaking stigma around saying I'm in therapy, you know, doing all that stuff is great, but it also does build tension of there's some PTSD going on. [SPEAKER_08]: There are some major depressive cycles that are going on and seeing shepherd going through all that in comparison to Paden who obviously went to therapy and doesn't have any of those symptoms.
[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, I can see that. [SPEAKER_10]: I can also see though why they didn't put it in and maybe this is part of the reason why they didn't put something like that. [SPEAKER_10]: And because perhaps in the Mass Effect universe, there does still exist a stigma for service members trying to get that kind of mental health help because, you know, currently at least in Western circles, it's a trap.
[SPEAKER_10]: So to speak, it's an absolute trap, that's how a lot of service members feel about trying to seek mental health help because there's such a very real possibility that your entire job changes because of it. [SPEAKER_10]: So for those of us not in the armed forces, you can imagine if your only options for counselling were through your job.
[SPEAKER_10]: Not going to work if you need to bitch about your job. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, and I don't think I want the council or hack it to have access to my therapy files. [SPEAKER_10]: Right, and yet it would be way too enticing to do that for such a commander with so much responsibility and such a big target on their back in terms of blackmail, extortion, and opsec kind of things.
[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, so maybe that maybe that all kind of played into part of why they didn't implement more of a traditional therapy role, at least as far as shepherd was on a lion's ships, right? [SPEAKER_10]: But also maybe part of it was because of mentally healthy shepherd is a less interesting shepherd.
[SPEAKER_08]: What about anybody else? [SPEAKER_08]: That idea is on little one-on-one sit-downs with your squadmates? [SPEAKER_02]: I do think it'll be a cool idea if how you interact with the crew changes what nightmares. [SPEAKER_02]: Shepherd has like how you deal with stuff affects like what appears in Shepherd's nightmares.
[SPEAKER_02]: So it's more tailored to how you're playing. [SPEAKER_02]: So it's more, more laid to what specifically your Shepherd has cared about, not just a general like, oh, here's this child dying over and over again. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, that would be cool if we got special, like instead of Anderson, maybe, you know, erupting in the flames and I know it can change depending on different things.
[SPEAKER_10]: I have played with mods for so long now that it's corrupting my memory of the original vanilla mass effect, but there's a mod specifically called, I think it's Dreams Restored, right? [SPEAKER_10]: Is that what it's called? [SPEAKER_08]: There's something nightmare. [SPEAKER_10]: nightmares.
[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, so it adds a lot of characters like you're talking about to the nightmares, including more than after Morton's death, Morton takes a prominent role in them, and then so does Nylis. [SPEAKER_10]: I think it doesn't Nylis show up in one of those. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, and for my survival, Miranda can show up.
[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, anybody who can die will show up in this in the mocked version. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_10]: I think it actually would have been cooler, kind of fleshing that idea out, if we got a more extended mission inside Shepherd's nightmares, right? [SPEAKER_10]: If there was a more extended experience like that, like, instead of just chasing the kid through the forest, kind of going into different realms of Shepherd's mind, fear, guilt, anxiety, [SPEAKER_10]: that would be very fascinating and super fly.
[SPEAKER_11]: Did I see your hand go up as well that you wanted to chime in about these one-on-one counseling sessions on an [SPEAKER_11]: the Citadel DLC after the party where you can go and meet with all of your squadmates either in your apartment or out on the strip, kind of bill off of what you want to do Genesis and turn those moments into more heartfelt, more intimate moments.
[SPEAKER_11]: I do like the idea, I think it would make add a lot more depth to the characters we already [SPEAKER_11]: of the lack of the better term, more of a human field to them. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, and especially like the Citadel ones, those are, those are all meant to be fun and light-hearted and happy, you know, we put Rex on, we put ice on Rex's quad, you know, that's what you do in his Citadel date.
[SPEAKER_08]: you know, talking about the stresses of leadership and being able to compare stories and stuff like that. [SPEAKER_08]: But I think that's just a big part of me. [SPEAKER_08]: I always want more interactions one-on-one with people. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, if we could kind of get that that candid talk with Anderson or Hackett, [SPEAKER_10]: Uh, before obviously Anderson dies, that would be amazing.
[SPEAKER_10]: I would love it if we could have that candid talk and then maybe at the very end while you're picking your ending, the flashback of Anderson that comes is him saying one of those phrases that he said in that conversation to you. [SPEAKER_10]: That would be a lot more poignant. [SPEAKER_10]: Now, that would also require a lot more of the budget to go toward paying the voice actors.
[SPEAKER_10]: So. [SPEAKER_08]: I'm also okay with this. [SPEAKER_08]: I'm okay with everybody more. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, imagine that. [SPEAKER_10]: That's a novel concept. [SPEAKER_10]: Okay, anyone else wanted to comment on the possible therapy sessions aboard the Normandy? [SPEAKER_10]: All right.
[SPEAKER_03]: I think it'd be good. [SPEAKER_03]: I like care of the interactions. [SPEAKER_03]: So just one of the conversations will be awesome. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, yeah, and I think that's probably some of at least a lot of the fan base's favorite part of Mass Effect is I remember when I was playing through Mass Effect that the trilogy I was Incessantly checking in with each squad may to see if they had anything new to say Korean I see you raise your hand [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, well, for me it's like the most important thing in Mass Effect's, the relationships, and I was a bit disappointed, because at the end of Mass Effect, three, you have these conversations with your crew members and hollow.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think that some of these conversations lacked depth. [SPEAKER_01]: It was like, oh, hey, how do you feel right now? [SPEAKER_01]: I'm a little bit scared. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah, be strong. [SPEAKER_01]: Goodbye. [SPEAKER_01]: It was- [SPEAKER_01]: very superficial. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, very superficial and even with the, when someone died, and Mass Effect, like, for example, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh uh, uh uh, uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh
[SPEAKER_01]: one or two times in the rest of the games, but not that much. [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I really like Genesis idea. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, right on. [SPEAKER_10]: Well, we're getting to where the end of the show here. [SPEAKER_10]: And I was kind of [SPEAKER_10]: go on some kind of mission that seems like it's a pretty run of the mill.
[SPEAKER_10]: Shepherd go to this colony and fix this thing or perhaps in addition to the mission where you're diverting like a missile from landing on a city scape and possibly hitting an industrial zone [SPEAKER_10]: and then a message comes through from the elusive man. [SPEAKER_10]: Basically, pedaling, not, not, I would say not misinformation to you, but disinformation about Anderson, and specifically trying to shake your faith in Anderson's leadership.
[SPEAKER_10]: And giving you perhaps selective truths so that you would be led to thinking that Anderson was perhaps not as moral, not as ethical as you once believed him to be. [SPEAKER_10]: and trying to shake your faith in him that way so that you wouldn't perhaps even know what was true anymore. [SPEAKER_10]: And along the way in the mission, you're finding proof that appeared to [SPEAKER_10]: corroborate the elusive man's claims and so that kind of mission where afterward you might have a debrief where you go to the QEC and call Anderson and confront him about this evidence that you've found.
[SPEAKER_10]: maybe part of it's true, part of it's not true, but if it appears that as if Anderson lied about one thing, your confidence in his truth telling on the whole might be so damaged that you might not think that any of it was true. [SPEAKER_08]: I like this. [SPEAKER_08]: I think it's interesting because Anderson is one of the characters that throughout the entire trilogy.
[SPEAKER_08]: We just trust and we believe and nothing ever really shakes or breaks that. [SPEAKER_08]: And you know, by the end of the trilogy, we're calling him our space dad regardless of, you know, the situation. [SPEAKER_08]: And so to have a little bit of doubt thrown in there about [SPEAKER_08]: you know, whose motives for something would be really interesting because, you know, it does make it having a character who is always good all the time can be a little flat, but throwing this kind of wrench into the way that we think about Anderson would be really interesting.
[SPEAKER_10]: right like maybe maybe we find evidence that Anderson wasn't telling us the full truth about what happened on his spectrum mission with Seren. [SPEAKER_10]: And perhaps Seren wasn't completely lying in his reports at the council. [SPEAKER_10]: Karina, what he viewed at. [SPEAKER_01]: I think it would be interesting either on Mass Effect 2 because you're like on the right side of Cerberus, but also maybe in Mass Effect 3 when you have to make decisions and you maybe this event would influence the choice you would make at the end of Mass Effect 3, [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, we already get this with some other characters like Legion, where I'd Legion can lie to us on multiple occasions.
[SPEAKER_10]: Other characters can lie to us who are omit certain facts, but like Genesis pointed out, not really with Anderson. [SPEAKER_10]: And we kind of just trust the narrative at face value. [SPEAKER_10]: So I feel like this kind of deception would be right in the elusive man's wheelhouse. [SPEAKER_10]: trying to so discord, trying to so chaos and shake them around of the most important commanding officer in the alliance, right?
[SPEAKER_10]: And that kind of soft power, so to speak, is in my opinion depending on how it's wielded even more insidious. [SPEAKER_10]: because it doesn't take, you know, a brute force, you know, a big laser to do it, right? [SPEAKER_10]: It just takes implanting an idea into someone who's vulnerable.
[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: Anybody else got thoughts on a possibly nefarious Anderson? [SPEAKER_10]: And I feel like it can mess with the player too, like it can mess with you, like through the screen, like, uh, shit. [SPEAKER_10]: I didn't see this coming. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, I love moments like that in video games where you don't know how to feel about a choice or a decision or like, would who do I love playing a who do I who should I believe in this moment?
[SPEAKER_08]: So I think it would make it really interesting. [SPEAKER_10]: Oh, even better, what if there was a secret RNG behind the screen that you didn't see at the beginning of your playthrough, where depending on how the dice rolled, [SPEAKER_10]: Anderson, like, it either was total bullshit, and the Lucid Man is just trying to mess with you, or Anderson did lie to you.
[SPEAKER_10]: And you don't know. [SPEAKER_10]: You're never told about what that secret dice roll was at the beginning. [SPEAKER_10]: And so that way, if players decided to look it up, what's the answer [SPEAKER_10]: I'm all for a good mind fuck yeah there we go alright well remember kids don't mind fuck on first date you know wait until at least third um wrecks the grunt in chat says I'm just so sad we never had some form of flashback missions to the books that would have been cool [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, I like that one.
[SPEAKER_10]: There's a whole other trilogy they can make with them. [SPEAKER_10]: And the origin stories for Garus, Rex's dad, et cetera. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, there's a lot of extra content. [SPEAKER_10]: They could pull from not just the books, but the comics as well. [SPEAKER_10]: That would be a very, very fun kind of like breaking up the pacing of main missions and way to do it.
[SPEAKER_10]: Well, alright guys, thank you all so much for joining Genesis and I for another really, really insightful and deep and thoughtful conversation on what kind of missions we'd love to put into the Mass Effect series. [SPEAKER_10]: As I said at the beginning, I'd love to hear everyone else's thoughts.
[SPEAKER_10]: You can leave a comment on YouTube or Spotify or write a review on Apple. [SPEAKER_10]: And I'd love to hear what kind of missions that you guys would like to put in. [SPEAKER_10]: Um, so wrapping up the show here, uh, Genesis, I'm going to start with you. [SPEAKER_10]: What do you have going on, uh, from now until next week and how can people get a hold of you?
[SPEAKER_08]: I'm always available on the discords and on my two other podcast, the two girls one ship podcast just recorded it's 200th episode last night, so wow applause, I'm not going to clap directly into the mic, but applause, that's a huge milestone. [SPEAKER_08]: It's a very big one and it happened to land on a Patreon chat night.
[SPEAKER_08]: So it was a lot of fun to talk about. [SPEAKER_08]: The video games that we come back to all the time. [SPEAKER_08]: So very, very fitting for that because people keep coming back to the podcast. [SPEAKER_08]: We talked about the video games that we keep coming back to. [SPEAKER_08]: Mass Effect was on a lot of people's list.
[SPEAKER_10]: The legendary Jim, yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: legendary addiction. [SPEAKER_08]: Yes. [SPEAKER_08]: Uh, that my other one is the cyberpunk forecast. [SPEAKER_08]: Uh, where to see an eye, talk everything related to cyberpunk. [SPEAKER_10]: All right. [SPEAKER_10]: Yes. [SPEAKER_10]: Go check out those shows.
[SPEAKER_10]: Uh, astronaut and your next in the clockwise order that I'm looking at, uh, anything that you'd like to shout out and how can people get a whole to you if they want to follow up with you on some of your ideas. [SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, thanks for having me again. [SPEAKER_09]: I'm, uh, yeah, I'll spend on the score.
[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, happy to chat, um, you know, anything that's fact or, uh, like, or just space and drama, and I'm a nerdy space person. [SPEAKER_09]: So, um, which I will shout out not for me, but for others that like, there's, um, you know, I think you're a venndiegame of, uh, [SPEAKER_09]: Mass Effect community and people that are passionate about like, you know, space exploration kind of aligned to so like there is a long Sean February, you know, people humans going back to the moon.
[SPEAKER_09]: So I'll just shout that out there. [SPEAKER_09]: That's kind of cool to see that again. [SPEAKER_09]: And the Artemis mission. [SPEAKER_09]: Yep. [SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, Artemis too. [SPEAKER_09]: So yeah, be a clear and a see. [SPEAKER_10]: Wow. [SPEAKER_10]: That's that's awesome. [SPEAKER_10]: I didn't know that was in February.
[SPEAKER_10]: So thanks for the reminder. [SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, should be really, really awesome to see. [SPEAKER_09]: And yeah, and also I'm besides that in my first playthrough of Cyberpunk, I've been waiting a while to try it. [SPEAKER_09]: So once I wrap that up, I will definitely check it out at your podcast Genesis and get the lore there.
[SPEAKER_09]: So yeah, really just happy to be here. [SPEAKER_10]: Awesome. [SPEAKER_10]: Day, what you got cooking in your life, Scott, anything you want to shout out? [SPEAKER_03]: day on the discord, day zero, just about on every social mainly on the sky these days, just slowly just totally away at the series that I'm currently writing called the Ethereum fracture, which you can find for free up on my patreon patreon.com slash 4 slash day day, day, day, D, E, T, H, E, Y, little self blood there.
[SPEAKER_03]: First story is out, I haven't put out a large rock or story in a bit, because life's [SPEAKER_03]: have picked it but I'm working my way towards it so you can just sign up for free there and then you have access to everything, no money needed, and currently playing through the Yarkaza and like the Dragon franchise.
[SPEAKER_03]: Currently finished Kuhwami 2. [SPEAKER_03]: We're not Kuhwami 3 to come out and I'm excited to see it. [SPEAKER_10]: Hell yeah, I've read some of the days writing very skilled author definitely go check out some of his works And super fly. [SPEAKER_10]: What do you got going on? [SPEAKER_10]: How can people get the whole year anything that you want to shout out?
[SPEAKER_11]: Kind of boring I guess, but Super live 440 on the discourse. [SPEAKER_11]: I can get only and I'm always up for a good channel there and Yeah, I've just got it to make it again. [SPEAKER_11]: So appreciate you having me [SPEAKER_10]: course. [SPEAKER_10]: Red debate. [SPEAKER_10]: I see that you have been sipping on what I think is peach soju on light.
[SPEAKER_10]: Uh so I'd love to hear what you have to shout out and tell me whether or not I'm correct. [SPEAKER_02]: Uh it is in fact great so you. [SPEAKER_02]: Uh okay. [SPEAKER_10]: I was almost right. [SPEAKER_02]: You're close. [SPEAKER_02]: It's so you but different flavor. [SPEAKER_02]: But uh I'm red trouble out on this core.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm working on another one of my weird autistic [SPEAKER_02]: This time it's going to be like a 10 page essay on why I think Medigil is dumb. [SPEAKER_02]: It's not written right just from a medical standpoint. [SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, I saw that game on sale on Steam the other day, almost bought it, missed the sale opportunity, but I did get to play it when it was first unveiled at Pax, and it seemed like a blast of a game, so I'm definitely wanting to check it out at some point.
[SPEAKER_10]: Carina, anything that you would like to shout out and how can people get a whole to you? [SPEAKER_01]: Well, you can find me on Instagram, Katina, that shabunny for like pictures of ferrets and cats, professional pictures. [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm listening a lot to two girls on ship these days.
[SPEAKER_01]: So thank you, Genesis. [SPEAKER_01]: Awesome. [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_10]: Awesome. [SPEAKER_10]: Well, if you guys want photos of cats or ferrets, go check out Carina's Instagram. [SPEAKER_10]: Me myself and I, I adopted a puppy recently, German Shepherd pup, and I love him to death.
[SPEAKER_10]: I named him Aegon after Aegon Targaryen in Game of Thrones. [SPEAKER_10]: And so, that brings me to my next point, which is, I'm having trouble finding time to stream because what little time I do have, I'm either sleeping or trying to dissociate. [SPEAKER_10]: I will get back to streaming for those of you who who catch my streams live, I promise I will.
[SPEAKER_10]: I'm also considering I'm mulling over maybe another starting another podcast. [SPEAKER_10]: Um, I would be another lore cast. [SPEAKER_10]: This one would be on the lore of the universe of a song of ice and fire. [SPEAKER_10]: uh... so i i love that series i have not read through the books uh... so i would want to read through them before i try and speak authoritatively on that matter uh... but it would be more of less of an encyclopedic kind of format i think [SPEAKER_10]: And I think it would be more of a literary analysis kind of format every week, and then maybe at some point or weaving in references to the film here and there, but primarily relying on the source text.
[SPEAKER_10]: So that's just something I'm thinking about starting. [SPEAKER_10]: I have to really evaluate how much work it's going to take every week because like I said, with a baby, a cat, and a puppy, things, things are busy. [SPEAKER_10]: So anyway, if you guys want to catch me between now and then I'm at in seven a legend on any social media that I have, and of course you can tag me in the robots radio discord that link is going to be in the show notes.
[SPEAKER_10]: But until next time, specters, we should go. [SPEAKER_10]: Take care, everybody. [SPEAKER_10]: Thanks for listening to the Mass Effect War text.
