[SPEAKER_03]: I'm Commander Shepherd, and this is my favorite lorecast on the Citadel. [SPEAKER_06]: Welcome to the Mass Effect lorecast. [SPEAKER_06]: I'm in seven the legend. [SPEAKER_05]: And I'm Genesis. [SPEAKER_05]: Join us. [SPEAKER_06]: As we explore along tides of light. [SPEAKER_06]: And through sholes of dust.
[SPEAKER_06]: To see where this lore began. [SPEAKER_05]: And consider where it may go. [SPEAKER_06]: Specters welcome back to another lore episode of the Mass Effect lore cast. [SPEAKER_06]: I am your host in 7 Allegent and joining me is a victimized genesis currently contending with a feline warrior.
[SPEAKER_05]: Yes, as it goes. [SPEAKER_05]: My cat is in full on pounce and attack mode. [SPEAKER_05]: This is the first podcast that I'm recording since being back from vacation and she is showing her aggression in the, oh my god, you are not giving me attention mode. [SPEAKER_06]: So she is we can see her little cat ears popping up from the bottom of the screen and from this angle she really looks like my cat Oh, she who has also been on one lately.
[SPEAKER_06]: So maybe Mercury is in Gatorade or something. [SPEAKER_06]: I don't know [SPEAKER_06]: Oh no, but speaking of planets, we go to the planet tried it today with a little known lore story about a fucked-up server's experiment. [SPEAKER_05]: You mean we're not continuing our garrison line? [SPEAKER_06]: We are, we've got what, two more episodes of Garrison.
[SPEAKER_06]: However, we're going to take a quick break from Garrison because we understand that maybe not everyone loves Garrison at the same level as other people do. [SPEAKER_06]: So we're going to bring you one of these server-stately news lore stories here. [SPEAKER_06]: And this one is split up into two separate arcs, but they're really the same arc.
[SPEAKER_06]: Why don't we get right into it without further ado? [SPEAKER_06]: We have the Cerberus human experimentation lab that gets discovered on the planet Trident and here's how this will actually you know what before we get into this I want everyone to remember that this is Cerberus daily news [SPEAKER_06]: So, Cerberus daily news is telling us about a Cerberus human experimentation lab discovered on Trident.
[SPEAKER_06]: So, with that in mind, the news article reads, federal investigators on the planet Trident have uncovered a Cerberus cell, authorities seized the human survivalist group's laboratory, finding two dozen prisoners who claim that Cerberus subjected them to biotic suppressing drugs [SPEAKER_06]: The captives were briefly questioned before being released back to their families.
[SPEAKER_06]: Only one Cerberus operative was captured during the rescue operation. [SPEAKER_06]: Six others were killed, and two reportedly committed suicide rather than face a rest. [SPEAKER_06]: Okay, so first of all, biotic suppressing drugs potentially brain damaging side effects. [SPEAKER_06]: This sounds a lot like what they did to Paul Grayson, doesn't it?
[SPEAKER_05]: It, well, I mean, but they told us that it was biotic enhancing drugs when it came to pulgres and not suppressing drugs. [SPEAKER_05]: But this could also be the Cerberus spin saying that it was a suppressive and not an enhancement. [SPEAKER_06]: For me, the thing that kicked into gear with pulgres and was reading biotic suppressing drugs potentially brain damaging side effects.
[SPEAKER_06]: We know that indoctrination over a long period of time is brain damaging. [SPEAKER_05]: Yes, but it's also biotic enhancing. [SPEAKER_06]: yet the well the reason why Paul was getting the biotic enhancement was he was a red sand addict and they knew it so they were administering red sand to him at intervals to keep his will power low to help him accept the indoctrination more after being implanted with reaper tech.
[SPEAKER_06]: When I'm reading this, I'm thinking, okay, is the biotics suppressing drugs just to cover story for a reaper tech? [SPEAKER_05]: Ooh. [SPEAKER_05]: Okay. [SPEAKER_05]: I could see that. [SPEAKER_05]: I could definitely see that. [SPEAKER_05]: I could also see them using a biotics suppressing drug as a weapon, because if you take out in a sorry's biotics, that could potentially leave them a lot weaker.
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, that's right. [SPEAKER_06]: So it's interesting that they say they found two dozen prisoners, but they don't mention whether or not any of the prisoners were sorry or really what races all the prisoners were. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, if Cerberus sees human survivalists. [SPEAKER_06]: Well, the human survivalists group's laboratory, that's Cerberus.
[SPEAKER_06]: That's, that's referring to. [SPEAKER_06]: So, yeah, I find it pretty interesting. [SPEAKER_06]: I'm wanting to learn more about who these prisoners were, where they got them, where they kidnapped them from, and more about the exact experimentation that was going on with them. [SPEAKER_06]: So, it sounds like they at least saved 24 prisoners, which is good news, who knows how many that servers had killed before them.
[SPEAKER_05]: And this is, uh, this is, it was the Cerberus operatives that were killed right not the surviving test subjects. [SPEAKER_06]: That's right. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_06]: So six of the server's operatives were killed. [SPEAKER_06]: One was captured to committed suicide. [SPEAKER_06]: And so for the for reference, this is on the planet Trident.
[SPEAKER_06]: This is one of those like 95% water worlds salt water. [SPEAKER_06]: And correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Trident involved in the [SPEAKER_06]: I think so. [SPEAKER_06]: If it wasn't tried and it was another, you know, all water world. [SPEAKER_06]: But here is the planet card for Trident, just for some perspective on where this took place.
[SPEAKER_06]: A human dominated world with over 95% of its surface covered by salt water, Trident is home to a dazzling array of life. [SPEAKER_06]: The oceans are filled with creatures ranging from tiny by valves to mammoth vertebrates unequaled even by earth's whales and acthiosores. [SPEAKER_06]: That's pretty large.
[SPEAKER_06]: Smorrow, small archipelagoes create what little land there is, and its valuable real estate is fought over constantly. [SPEAKER_06]: Underwater extraction operations have recovered a number of valuable minerals from the ocean floor, including Euridium, Uranium, and Dustform, Ezo, a largely lawless world tried and is home to a rogue's gallery of unethical corporations exploiting the resources of the planet and actual rogue's, criminals, slayvers, and mercenaries working the shadows.
[SPEAKER_06]: travel advisory, due to extreme weather conditions, all traffic to the surface is grounded. [SPEAKER_06]: Trident's base port control predicts this condition will persist until the end of hurricane season, which the average year for trident is, does it say here in the stats? [SPEAKER_06]: Well, the average day length is 27.6 hours, so you can do the calculations and figure out yourself.
[SPEAKER_06]: Oh wait, there it is, oral period. [SPEAKER_06]: The average year is 2.8 earth years. [SPEAKER_06]: So the end of hurricane season might be like eight months. [SPEAKER_06]: So yeah, I don't know if I want what little real estate there is on Trident. [SPEAKER_05]: It does not sound good.
[SPEAKER_05]: And to answer your question, the Mass Effect Wiki says that Triedin is a mission location for the N7HQ Galaxy at War mini game for Mass Effect 3. [SPEAKER_06]: Okay, I knew it sounded familiar in terms of emissions somehow, and of course, tried it being a reference to Poseidon, the Greek god of the sea.
[SPEAKER_06]: So, that's where this is going on. [SPEAKER_06]: The human population is 6.8 million on Trident. [SPEAKER_06]: So, not exactly a huge population, but it's not desolate either. [SPEAKER_06]: This is somewhere where servers might be able to get away with their experimentation, given how much...
[SPEAKER_06]: empty space. [SPEAKER_06]: There must be. [SPEAKER_06]: And I'm guessing that this was happening like underwater somewhere. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, definitely an underwater base or even if you go in and just kind of build your own like water world station, you know, somewhere out there in the middle of the ocean, nobody's going to find you.
[SPEAKER_06]: See lab 2021, but make it not funny. [SPEAKER_06]: You lab twenty one eighty six, see lab twenty one eighty six. [SPEAKER_06]: All right, Genesis, you want to go ahead and read the next dispatch we get from server saline news. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I can definitely do that. [SPEAKER_05]: I also want to give a little bit of a disclaimer.
[SPEAKER_05]: That on my trip back home, I definitely caught a little bit of the airplane cred. [SPEAKER_05]: So I apologize for my voice being a little bit off. [SPEAKER_05]: I can hear it. [SPEAKER_05]: And if any coughing comes through over the microphone. [SPEAKER_06]: You are, you are more than okay because you are more than okay because I am also getting sick.
[SPEAKER_06]: And I forgot to tell you this today, but it's because my son started picking something up from daycare. [SPEAKER_06]: Of course, right? [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, I love it. [SPEAKER_06]: Yep. [SPEAKER_06]: Of course. [SPEAKER_06]: So. [SPEAKER_05]: By the time he's two, you'll have an amazing immune system.
[SPEAKER_05]: Well, well, that or I'll be dead. [SPEAKER_06]: Wow, just as I say that, my camera turns off. [SPEAKER_05]: for predicting the future. [SPEAKER_06]: All right, take us away, Johnny. [SPEAKER_05]: Okay, victims describe service torture then. [SPEAKER_05]: More details this hour regarding the human survival is cell-on-triident.
[SPEAKER_05]: Victims told federal investigators of eight torture then where service doctors drugged and forced captives to perform biotic actions to exhaustion. [SPEAKER_05]: quote, the pain in my head was unbelievable, set a female survivor who asked to remain anonymous. [SPEAKER_05]: I could even feel it in my feet.
[SPEAKER_05]: I thought I had a stroke. [SPEAKER_05]: A man died of a cerebral hemorrhage, and I wouldn't have, and I would have gone next if they hadn't rescued us when they did. [SPEAKER_06]: Okay, so you remember how I was saying that I was wondering how many people had died? [SPEAKER_06]: Well, we know at least one did and there is probably far more torture than is terrifying.
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I don't like that at all. [SPEAKER_05]: And to think about a, like, as we get Hayden talking about his headaches when, you know, his biotics are being wonky or when he's overexerted and things like that. [SPEAKER_05]: But to think of how much it would hurt to actually cause a cerebral hemorrhage.
[SPEAKER_05]: And that's a brain bleed. [SPEAKER_05]: So that's really, really not good. [SPEAKER_05]: I know that we hear from some of Jack's kids about exhaustion for overexertion, but nothing at this level. [SPEAKER_06]: You know, I was going to say that the fucked up thing among other things with this experiment is that surplus was partly if not directly responsible for a lot of the a lot of human [SPEAKER_06]: because of the quote-unquote accident above what was it yandum something the planet anyway [SPEAKER_06]: spreading the easo dust over all of the planet and then all of the mothers who got sick and are died from that because Cerberus was trying to create a generation of human biotics.
[SPEAKER_06]: There's a very real possibility that some of the people here in this torture didn't are people who have biotics only because of Cerberus and now because of Cerberus [SPEAKER_06]: Cerberus has kidnapped them just to torture them. [SPEAKER_05]: I think that's that's such a level of evil that I was not expecting in Mass Effect, you know, it's like I, there's so many different layers to it to think of, okay, I infected you as a baby.
[SPEAKER_05]: And my experimentations are still ongoing because I mean, yes, these could be children that they're talking about. [SPEAKER_05]: But I know that children wouldn't use language like a man died of cerebral hemorrhage. [SPEAKER_05]: Uh, so these, this has got to be a pretty big time gap, or [SPEAKER_06]: Well, uh, you know, now that you bring that up, I bring, I'm looking it up.
[SPEAKER_06]: And Yandoah, that, um, industrial accident over Yandoah happened in 2170. [SPEAKER_06]: This is 2185. [SPEAKER_06]: So it's quite, quite possible that some of these people being experiments at on our like 15 years old. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I think it would have to be because natural human biotics weren't really forming.
[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, like Caden's one of the oldest human biotics because he was infected in Singapore as a baby. [SPEAKER_05]: That's right. [SPEAKER_05]: And Hayden's 30 in the beginning of Mass Effect 1. [SPEAKER_05]: I just double check that. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, so yeah, we could still be talking about kids here.
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, at least in terms of if there's not like a glaring lore plattle or we could also be talking about aliens, who knows, but it kind of sounds like they're humans at this point. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, it feels human to me, which is scary also, that Cerberus is willing to do these types of experimentation on humans.
[SPEAKER_06]: It's for the advancement and the improvement of humanity. [SPEAKER_05]: True. [SPEAKER_06]: Very true. [SPEAKER_06]: So Cerberus is just misunderstood, you see. [SPEAKER_06]: And the elusive man is an actually that bad of a guy. [SPEAKER_05]: No, not at all. [SPEAKER_05]: I'm pro to me.
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_06]: I thought that he was okay until he bought Twitter, then things really went off the rails. [SPEAKER_06]: No. [SPEAKER_06]: Alright, so we get another dispatch from Cerberus Daily News. [SPEAKER_06]: as if it wasn't enough, as if it didn't end there. [SPEAKER_06]: Basically, this rescue had gone forward.
[SPEAKER_06]: Authorities had killed six server operatives to committed suicide. [SPEAKER_06]: They captured one. [SPEAKER_06]: They captured one. [SPEAKER_06]: And it turns out that that one escaped. [SPEAKER_06]: And this server-soperative's name is Skye Ternick. [SPEAKER_06]: dispatches SkyTernick, the sole surviving member of the Cerberusel responsible for the now infamous torture den of captive aliens.
[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, there we go. [SPEAKER_06]: Captive aliens on the Termina systems planet Trident. [SPEAKER_06]: So they are aliens. [SPEAKER_06]: So never mind all that about Yando up and 15 year olds. [SPEAKER_06]: So these are aliens that they have been experimenting on for bi-elect suppressant drugs, I guess.
[SPEAKER_06]: But self-responsible for the now infamous tortured in of captive aliens on the Turinist systems planet Trident. [SPEAKER_06]: escaped custody today, at 9.37 local time this morning. [SPEAKER_06]: A paramilitary attack using vector-thrust gunships, destroyed the escort boats, surrounding the prisoner transport, and then took off with Ternick.
[SPEAKER_06]: This is so typical, isn't it? [SPEAKER_06]: The prisoner's being transported somewhere, oh, this is our chance. [SPEAKER_06]: This is where we can think about. [SPEAKER_06]: This is where the highest movie happens. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, exactly. [SPEAKER_06]: Other prisoners in the transport bore witness to the event.
[SPEAKER_06]: Some of them even helping the guards out of the water. [SPEAKER_06]: Maybe they're hoping for parole. [SPEAKER_06]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_06]: So apparently this prisoner transport was over water and these gunships attacked the transport and says tried and smeretime justice department reports no leads in locating the escape craft.
[SPEAKER_06]: Noting that tried and has only a few high res by satellites or downlooking radar balloons to be tasked to such an operation. [SPEAKER_06]: makes sense. [SPEAKER_06]: Trident's population is not that large, 6.8 million people, and most of them want to remain off the radar. [SPEAKER_06]: So, I wonder if Cerberus got help from on the planet?
[SPEAKER_05]: Probably it would require that they already said like in the planet card. [SPEAKER_06]: It's a rogues gallery of unethical corporations and actual rogues. [SPEAKER_06]: So that's kind of like server-spreeting ground. [SPEAKER_06]: Asked if she believes the attack was commanded by server-special agent in charge, Angela Roe said, if it looks like a bomb and explodes like a bomb, it's a bomb.
[SPEAKER_06]: Okay. [SPEAKER_05]: I love that, love that, because you wouldn't use, you know, horses and zebras in, in, in, or domestic. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_05]: Quack. [SPEAKER_05]: Yep. [SPEAKER_06]: Uh, although ducks would love to try it. [SPEAKER_05]: Ducks with the, no, ducks need solid land.
[SPEAKER_05]: Everyone's in a while. [SPEAKER_05]: So they would be floundering out in the middle of the ocean. [SPEAKER_06]: Maybe it'd be a new breed of aquatic duck. [SPEAKER_05]: What a duck. [SPEAKER_06]: Is that a penguin hat? [SPEAKER_06]: Are penguins just aquatic ducks? [SPEAKER_05]: I think maybe we could go with that because they definitely breathe air.
[SPEAKER_05]: So, oh, penguins need land too. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_05]: That wouldn't work. [SPEAKER_06]: They also water. [SPEAKER_06]: All right. [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, we are tangent. [SPEAKER_06]: I love it. [SPEAKER_06]: I am a biologist. [SPEAKER_06]: In case anyone didn't know. [SPEAKER_06]: Okay, so to recap the story to this point and we don't know how long it is after the authorities [SPEAKER_06]: we do know that they were in custody, um, someone's custody.
[SPEAKER_06]: not the alliance because the alliance doesn't have a terminus system's presence like that. [SPEAKER_06]: So they were in some kind of custody on Trident. [SPEAKER_06]: At 9.37 local time, in that's when SkyTernick was rescued, so to speak, by the server's attack using gunships. [SPEAKER_06]: And so one has to wonder what SkyTernick knows [SPEAKER_05]: Um, I, I'm assuming a lot if, right, you'll lose a man is not exactly like a no man left behind a guy.
[SPEAKER_05]: Right. [SPEAKER_05]: It's like, he'll the man bury the evidence. [SPEAKER_05]: It's, uh, you know, suppress everything possible so that we know but he can speak. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, he shouldn't have got himself, you know, captured. [SPEAKER_06]: That was his fault. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, it was all his fault.
[SPEAKER_05]: Shouldn't dress that way. [SPEAKER_05]: Um, they were asking for it. [SPEAKER_05]: Sky was totally asking for it, but it was also interesting to see how it's just called a special agent. [SPEAKER_05]: We have no agency attached to this. [SPEAKER_05]: Are they a council special agent? [SPEAKER_05]: Why not label them as a specter then?
[SPEAKER_05]: Is this, we don't even, I mean, Angela Road does sound like a very human name. [SPEAKER_05]: So I'm gonna assume human on that one, but I was completely wrong about the other people sounding [SPEAKER_05]: and then they were proven to be aliens. [SPEAKER_05]: Or, service could be lying about it and saying that these were all aliens in a torture den.
[SPEAKER_05]: I didn't think about that. [SPEAKER_05]: I want to release the fact that they were all humans. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, that would definitely decrease morale in the ranks of Cerberus, right, to learn that your employer, who was supposedly so per human, was actually torturing humans. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, yeah, I would not be happy with that news.
[SPEAKER_06]: But everyone in servers would probably read this and say, oh, it was aliens. [SPEAKER_06]: They were just, they were experiment, ah, whatever. [SPEAKER_06]: You know, they were experimenting with biotic suppressant drugs. [SPEAKER_06]: These aliens are being so extra, they're so sensitive.
[SPEAKER_05]: And maybe their biotic should be suppressed. [SPEAKER_05]: You know, it's not really fair that they have so many more thousands of years of biotic usage above this. [SPEAKER_05]: So we should suppress them in order to level the plague field. [SPEAKER_06]: You know, I was actually going to say level the playing field, too, yeah.
[SPEAKER_05]: Yep. [SPEAKER_05]: Our dictator is showing Sam. [SPEAKER_05]: We should move on to the midbrake. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, dictators. [SPEAKER_06]: All right. [SPEAKER_06]: Not a fan of penis potatoes. [SPEAKER_06]: That's going in the next best stuff. [SPEAKER_06]: That's going in the next best.
[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, my gosh. [SPEAKER_06]: She doesn't really stew the dead chick. [SPEAKER_07]: All right. [SPEAKER_07]: Let's go over to the mid-break, shall we? [SPEAKER_07]: We have beef, bacon, we have beer, the foods of my people. [SPEAKER_00]: Young men have funny ideas of what a story are like.
[SPEAKER_00]: I blame the extra net and computer games. [SPEAKER_03]: Rex, shepherd, grunt, shepherd, Rex. [SPEAKER_06]: All right, here we are in the middle of the show. [SPEAKER_06]: This is the part where we read out your five star reviews. [SPEAKER_06]: And sadly, no one has left us a new review on Apple podcasts.
[SPEAKER_06]: If you want to do that, you can leave a five star review. [SPEAKER_06]: We will read out your comments on the next episode. [SPEAKER_06]: However, we also are pulling comments from [SPEAKER_06]: are Spotify. [SPEAKER_06]: That's where the majority of you listen anyway, and maybe not majority, maybe plurality, is the right word.
[SPEAKER_06]: But we do have some new comments on our episode, these characters [SPEAKER_06]: Uh, and we have one from Nick Spencer, who writes, I think, a couple NPC characters with a good arc. [SPEAKER_06]: Helena Blake, she goes from organized crime boss to, if you encourage her, a person who helps people get out of organized crime.
[SPEAKER_06]: Secondly, did we sleep on Conrad Werner? [SPEAKER_06]: I, trust me, I am not sleeping with Conrad Werner. [SPEAKER_06]: Dude can come and clutch with his PhD and see that he doesn't have to pretend to be shepherd, [SPEAKER_06]: Great discussion all. [SPEAKER_06]: Well, I think valuable is a little bit I don't know Generous he contributes one to the EMS five oh excuse me five excuse me if you were on the cusp of getting the best ending And in five points from Conrad Werner was the difference.
[SPEAKER_06]: I think you made much larger mistakes along the way [SPEAKER_05]: That's true. [SPEAKER_05]: I would also like to say that Helen of Blake is a great side character with a good character arc. [SPEAKER_05]: I like going through all of her missions and I'm a huge Conrad Werner stand. [SPEAKER_05]: I will always support him.
[SPEAKER_05]: I don't think other than my first playthrough, I have never lost him. [SPEAKER_06]: I, yeah, I've lost him on one playthrough, but that was it. [SPEAKER_06]: I keep him alive every now and then, uh, because I do like that final culmination seen with him in Mass Effect 3. [SPEAKER_06]: Um, but that being said, I don't, I don't actually believe that Helena Blake has changed.
[SPEAKER_06]: Like I feel like she's just hiding it from Shepherd a little bit better now. [SPEAKER_06]: She's still CD. [SPEAKER_06]: I feel like I don't know. [SPEAKER_06]: I don't have any proof of that. [SPEAKER_06]: a journalist intuition call it. [SPEAKER_05]: I don't know, a human who can hold her own hanging out with the patriarchy seems pretty cool to me.
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, probably a few concussions from budding heads. [SPEAKER_06]: But all right, Nick Spencer, thank you so much for leaving that comment on our Spotify. [SPEAKER_06]: And Genesis, we have a voice line. [SPEAKER_06]: I actually pulled one for you today. [SPEAKER_06]: So why don't we go over to it?
[SPEAKER_06]: I've given her the file and I've titled it Nothing Good. [SPEAKER_06]: Nothing Good. [SPEAKER_06]: All right, here it is. [SPEAKER_06]: I'm going to play a couple times for you. [SPEAKER_01]: This is going to get ugly, Shepherd. [SPEAKER_01]: Nothing good ever came out of Reaper Tech. [SPEAKER_06]: All right, I'll play a one more time.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is going to get ugly, Shepherd. [SPEAKER_01]: Nothing good ever came out of Reaper Tech. [SPEAKER_05]: I mean, obviously, that's garrison. [SPEAKER_06]: Yep. [SPEAKER_05]: Nothing good ever came out of Reaper Tech. [SPEAKER_05]: HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM [SPEAKER_05]: Mass Effect 3, because that's when Reaper tech really came in to play, and oh, is it Leviathan?
[SPEAKER_05]: No. [SPEAKER_05]: Is it from the Leviathan? [SPEAKER_05]: Death of Death's DLC? [SPEAKER_06]: Final answer. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I'm lost on this one. [SPEAKER_06]: It is not. [SPEAKER_06]: You had massfic three correct? [SPEAKER_06]: It is actually from Sanctuary. [SPEAKER_05]: Sanctuary.
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, when we land on Sanctuary, if you bring garris along with you, and you find the agitants that they had been experimenting on. [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, okay, all right. [SPEAKER_06]: So, yeah, I know. [SPEAKER_06]: I almost never bring garris. [SPEAKER_06]: I think on that mission, I always bring, um, who do I bring?
[SPEAKER_06]: I think I bring my love interest and E.D. [SPEAKER_06]: I think I bring E.D. [SPEAKER_06]: every time. [SPEAKER_06]: But yeah, um, that is garrison in Mass Effect 3. [SPEAKER_06]: It's sanctuary. [SPEAKER_06]: And we have a planet card as well, uh, speaking of E.D. [SPEAKER_06]: I still need to download that sound effect and play it every time we've got a planet card.
[SPEAKER_06]: But here is Talus Fia. [SPEAKER_06]: and it says Talus Fia is a planet capable of supporting life if that life happens to breathe ammonia. [SPEAKER_06]: Discovered by a sorry explorers, the planet was used as a bargaining chip by the Citadel Council who quickly drafted a colonization agreement with its wealthy client race the volus.
[SPEAKER_06]: The Council would fund the volus colonization effort in return for massive trade benefits, with uncharacteristic enthusiasm and enormous volus influx ensued. [SPEAKER_06]: And the Council reap the economic benefits for a dozen years before the colonization bubble burst. [SPEAKER_06]: Today the economic good times on Talis Fia are long gone, and modern volus businesses are cut-throat operations.
[SPEAKER_06]: piracy is a grave threat to shipping as well, as well-armed criminals see the volus as easy prey. [SPEAKER_06]: I mentioned that. [SPEAKER_06]: I would love to see a cut-throat volus business man. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, and it does make sense, you know, the highly ammonia planet being quickly snatched up by the volus population, a volus, a volus running a protection racket.
[SPEAKER_06]: That'd be amazing. [SPEAKER_05]: It's so hard to find them threatening in any way, shape, or form, other than that giant volus that was rolling around in that clip that you have. [SPEAKER_06]: Oh, that's right. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, the giant, like the Indiana Jones folder clip, yeah, that would be a threatening volus, but yeah, other than that, they're just kind of rolly polis.
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, and I want to feel the presence of the Darth Vader, you know, like a mask respirator, but it doesn't, it doesn't do it at all. [SPEAKER_06]: Kind of always sounds like they are overdue for their flonies. [SPEAKER_05]: You know, they're ready to hit the inhaler. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, yeah, exactly.
[SPEAKER_07]: They know where are my antihistramines? [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_06]: All right, that was Talus Fia. [SPEAKER_06]: So no new patrons this week. [SPEAKER_06]: But we do want to shout out our Tier V, Patrons, William, Superfly, 440, Redrabot, Lieutenant Sousino, Kira-C, Edboy, and Day.
[SPEAKER_06]: Thank you all for your continued support of the show. [SPEAKER_06]: And with that, let's get back to the second half. [SPEAKER_02]: After time, I drift among open stars, alongside the light and through shows of dust, I will return to where I began. [SPEAKER_04]: Celery and reproduction, different, very little sex-trade.
[SPEAKER_04]: If intended to try human, would try you. [SPEAKER_06]: all right here we are in the second half of the show and we've got some more to talk about with this escaped surplus operative sky turnic so uh... genesis you want to go ahead and read this server stale news dispatch that we get [SPEAKER_05]: Absolutely, a Trident Spaceports searched for Cerberus operative.
[SPEAKER_05]: The man Hunt to find Sky Ternick and his Cerberus allies has slowed space traffic to a crawl on the planet of Trident. [SPEAKER_05]: In their drag net to catch Ternick, the global maritime justice has covered every star port on the planet. [SPEAKER_05]: quote, there seems to be a hurry to show that they're doing something.
[SPEAKER_05]: When they're most likely route off the planet is straight up, said Rainier Drake in Spurge, Mayor of Black Bay, and Raj. [SPEAKER_05]: And Rada. [SPEAKER_05]: GMJ responded in a press conference saying today that they had no evidence that the alleged service criminals had a single stage to orbit capability.
[SPEAKER_06]: Wait, so let me just pause you right there. [SPEAKER_06]: You said Rainier Drake and Zberg, that sounds like the most obviously made up name that I have heard in Mass Effect to date. [SPEAKER_06]: Rainier Jenkinsberg that honest that sounds like someone's scrambling to come up with a name when you're caught in a lie Oh, yeah, what was their name?
[SPEAKER_06]: And you're looking around and you you you're in Western Washington You're like Rainier Drake Drake Drake in Spurke. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, Rainier Jenkinsburg. [SPEAKER_06]: He's the mayor of Black Bay [SPEAKER_05]: No, that's a D&D GM who decided just to go to fantasynamegenerator.com and pulled it from there.
[SPEAKER_06]: It's the DM who gets questioned a little bit too much by his players on a random throwaway in B.C. [SPEAKER_06]: that he didn't really plan on flushing out the back story up. [SPEAKER_05]: Yep. [SPEAKER_05]: That's that's what this name is, uh, his Drake. [SPEAKER_05]: That's that's Dragon.
[SPEAKER_06]: yeah on a mountain and where is and rada and he are so when i see this i think of an and raji like the Brazilian word uh or portuguese i should say uh but i don't know if in jrada is an actual place let's google it google well now um nope it's a name [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, it's a name. [SPEAKER_06]: In fact, the last name of a famous Argentine professional footballer.
[SPEAKER_05]: I wonder if that is a city on one of the land masses on Trident. [SPEAKER_06]: It must be or province because the city would be Black Bay. [SPEAKER_05]: Sure. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_05]: That's what I meant. [SPEAKER_05]: So he believes that servers didn't have the capabilities that they went straight up into the air and flew off planet.
[SPEAKER_05]: But servers is saying that there is no global maritime justice is saying that the criminals had no capability to go from on the water or on the land straight up into orbit. [SPEAKER_05]: Um, so additionally, many of the space ports were already closed today due to the inclement weather that plagues tried and throughout its rainy season.
[SPEAKER_06]: Okay, so to me, this sounds a lot like Rainier Dragonsburg is getting paid by Cerberus and helped them escape, and no one would have seen it because the ports were closed. [SPEAKER_05]: Due to the bad weather. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_06]: Yep. [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, it's all starting to work together unless we're completely wrong.
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, I make a habit of being wrong. [SPEAKER_06]: Uh, yeah, just ask my wife, no, okay. [SPEAKER_06]: So no, I really do, it sounds like Rainier Drake and Spark over here is full of crap, and is getting, is on the Cerberus Payroll, and that would also make sense because you remember I brought up, it sounds a lot like Cerberus had help on the planet, at least helped to conceal this kind of Cerberus facility.
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, mayor of Black Bay on a planet of robes and a shady business deals. [SPEAKER_05]: I mean, come on, that's like saying that you're pirate king of Tortuga. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, and then being astounded that the pirate king was corrupt. [SPEAKER_06]: Okay, so basically the global maritime justice, it kind of sounds like they, they, okay.
[SPEAKER_06]: So they had every starport on the planet covered, they said, but they probably would not have been looking on one of their own ships. [SPEAKER_06]: So my hypothesis, so far, is that SkyTernick was smuggled onto one of their ships with help from Rainier Drake and Spurb. [SPEAKER_05]: Okay, let's see where this story ends.
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, we got the exciting finale here. [SPEAKER_06]: The man Hunt to find SkyTernick came to a fiery and tragic conclusion today. [SPEAKER_06]: Acting on an anonymous tip, GMJ enforcers surrounded a compound on the island of Ness. [SPEAKER_06]: server's operatives inside attempted to first fight and then flee using the gunships they had used in the turnic jailbreak.
[SPEAKER_06]: Armor piercing missiles brought one gunship down over the compound. [SPEAKER_06]: The other fleeing the scene was shot down and plummeted into a halfway house for runaway youths. [SPEAKER_06]: Wow. [SPEAKER_06]: No. [SPEAKER_06]: Oh my god. [SPEAKER_06]: This is this is this is a DM who has had like now the DM is pissed off That is players keep asking questions of random and B.C.
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, okay, you know what you know what this this gunship. [SPEAKER_06]: It's gonna take out Norfolk in it [SPEAKER_05]: Yep, so look what you all made me do. [SPEAKER_05]: This is your fault. [SPEAKER_05]: You did this sky, her neck is going to fall from the sky and kill a whole bunch of kids at a halfway house.
[SPEAKER_06]: Yes, SkyTernick was also a name that was come up when they have to the fact it says firefighters are working to contain that blaze now where the halfway house was busted into by a gunship to GMJ agents have been killed six wounded and an estimated 11 people from the halfway house have been hospitalized.
[SPEAKER_06]: no word yet on their condition. [SPEAKER_06]: The GMJ will not give details about the server's connection, but it did confirm that the pilots of both gunships died in the crashes. [SPEAKER_06]: I'm curious about who this anonymous tip was. [SPEAKER_05]: me too. [SPEAKER_05]: Okay, so we know now that one of the islands on Trident is called Ness, a very fitting Loch Ness monster, everything like that.
[SPEAKER_05]: which also falls into the DM grabbing for water-themed names. [SPEAKER_06]: This was, I, you know, no slight on the writer who made this, but this to me reads like, someone above them had said, hey, you know, did you finish this storyline? [SPEAKER_06]: We needed for server-stately news.
[SPEAKER_06]: I know it's Friday. [SPEAKER_06]: I know you're trying to get out of here, but like, we really need this. [SPEAKER_06]: Oh, shit. [SPEAKER_06]: Uh, yeah, yeah, I'll get it to you before the end of the day. [SPEAKER_05]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_05]: Yep, and then the keyboard just starts flying and whatever name pops into your head is what it's the paper.
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, it's okay. [SPEAKER_06]: No one's no one's going to read this. [SPEAKER_06]: It's on an app and it's it's in the main menu and that's it and no one's going to read it. [SPEAKER_06]: It's fine. [SPEAKER_06]: And here we are. [SPEAKER_06]: 14. [SPEAKER_06]: No, no, I'm sorry. [SPEAKER_06]: 17 years later.
[SPEAKER_05]: Wow. [SPEAKER_06]: The story is almost an illegal adult. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_05]: That's crazy. [SPEAKER_05]: So hopefully, the kids in this halfway house, it sounds like none of them died. [SPEAKER_05]: And 11 people got out. [SPEAKER_05]: Hopefully, they are now full on healthy adults, 17 years later, and having their own kids and things like that.
[SPEAKER_05]: So let's hope and pray for the best for these children. [SPEAKER_05]: It is also interesting that there's no details about the Cerberus connection. [SPEAKER_05]: Really, Cerberus daily news. [SPEAKER_05]: You're not going to tell us anything that Cerberus was doing wrong in this situation.
[SPEAKER_06]: Also, this entire dispatch didn't really answer my question about what happened to Skyturnik. [SPEAKER_05]: Uh, no. [SPEAKER_05]: I mean, we can assume that they are dead, uh, because it came to a fiery and tragic conclusion. [SPEAKER_06]: But I think the implication is that Ternick was on one of the gunships, but they never stayed that.
[SPEAKER_06]: And it, for me, it's leaving it open to it to a point where it's like, okay, Sky Ternick is alive somewhere. [SPEAKER_06]: And I stand by my hypothesis that Rainier Drakeensburg is a dirty son of a bitch. [SPEAKER_05]: At 30 Pirate King? [SPEAKER_06]: Yes. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, there's just so many unanswered questions in this story that there's so much lore that we can kind of fill in and guess about and kind of write our own and I do like that because there there is you know a way that we could like build head cannon around this or if like for some reason we're not going to forget these names.
[SPEAKER_05]: and if in the next game or in future lore or anything like that that comes out we see the name sky turnic or the rainier dragon's bird never got to get that one wait a minute why no where this name came from and then we can fall that lore and figure out you know what happened [SPEAKER_06]: I hope then the next game, if they do come up, these are characters who are trying to convince us that they are actually good people who need our help and they're just down on their luck.
[SPEAKER_06]: And the unsuspecting players who didn't read this beforehand might believe them. [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, I love that. [SPEAKER_06]: But like the OGs who did read this and did listen to this podcast, well, no better. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, it's like that character that you there's there's like an intuition or something that you're supposed to feel off about and, you know, some players will pick up on that other people won't.
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I will say that that was me with the elusive man the first time playing through. [SPEAKER_05]: I did not pick up on on evil intention. [SPEAKER_06]: Okay, all right. [SPEAKER_05]: I it wasn't until like much later in the game that I realized that oh, okay So he's not my new uh Anderson.
[SPEAKER_05]: I'm not supposed to just like like this guy. [SPEAKER_06]: I thought he was pretty for boating from the very beginning like That entire layer that he hangs out in and you know I don't know, and maybe it was just the voice that made me trust him too much Maybe it was because I just remembered servers from aspect one being like this evil terrorist organization.
[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know [SPEAKER_05]: And they brought me back to life. [SPEAKER_05]: I had to be thankful for at the beginning. [SPEAKER_05]: And then we, yeah. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_05]: Jacob and Miranda seemed cool. [SPEAKER_05]: Miranda really liked this guy and respected him. [SPEAKER_05]: And then he's sitting there in, you know, in a really cool looking office.
[SPEAKER_05]: And I was like, okay, let's fall along and see what this guy does. [SPEAKER_05]: And then he hands me back, my ship, my Joker, my chakwas. [SPEAKER_05]: And then like, it's me the rest of my squad back. [SPEAKER_05]: And I'm like, okay, maybe I can kind of trust this guy. [SPEAKER_05]: And then, you know, he is the elusive man.
[SPEAKER_06]: It's got a strong 50 shades of gray vibe going on. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, we don't need to go there. [SPEAKER_06]: I feel like that is what he was doing with that Forenax cover model. [SPEAKER_06]: The person who may or may not be a hand-arb, but I definitely had Canon that the elusive man slept with a hand-arb.
[SPEAKER_06]: I want to believe that I want to believe that those tentacles went places that we should not discuss on air. [SPEAKER_05]: Uh, but it is canon that he did not sleep with Kelly chambers. [SPEAKER_06]: There we go. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, Kelly tells us that, right? [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_06]: And she's typically very respectful.
[SPEAKER_05]: She admits to everything else you do slept with. [SPEAKER_05]: Why not? [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, except for the the verinage. [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, I really want to believe that it's not her. [SPEAKER_05]: I really do. [SPEAKER_06]: Implications unpleasant. [SPEAKER_06]: Yes, right? [SPEAKER_06]: Or problematic.
[SPEAKER_05]: Sorry, they're problematic or troubling. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_06]: All right. [SPEAKER_06]: Well, that's all we have for this week. [SPEAKER_06]: We are going to be back next week with more garrison. [SPEAKER_06]: And then, um, [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, I guess maybe World Go'd do another lore topic and split it up so we've got the final gear in this episode kind of to tie a bow on things which at that point will be September.
[SPEAKER_06]: Can you believe that? [SPEAKER_06]: Crazy. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, crazy, crazy. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, what are you guys going on from now until next week? [SPEAKER_05]: So, things I have returned from vacation, obviously, my trip was wonderful down to San Diego with my daughter, my mom and my husband.
[SPEAKER_05]: It was truly an event. [SPEAKER_05]: And so, I'm kind of getting back into the swing of things. [SPEAKER_05]: We skipped out on cyberpunk, so we won't be putting an episode out of that for a little bit. [SPEAKER_05]: And then V, Vervada, is in the middle of moving to her brand new house.
[SPEAKER_05]: So, the girls might be taking a little bit of a hiatus as well while all of that is getting sorted out. [SPEAKER_05]: So, Mass Effect might be my only show going on this month. [SPEAKER_05]: But of course, all of our backlog episodes are out there. [SPEAKER_05]: The cyberpunk lore cast and the two girls' one-ship podcasts.
[SPEAKER_05]: I have turned notifications for discord back on. [SPEAKER_05]: So, if you want to reach me on there, make sure that you tag me at Genesis, that is J-E-N-N-A-S-I-S, and catch me on the socials. [SPEAKER_06]: All right. [SPEAKER_06]: Well, um, I am glad that you're back from vacation. [SPEAKER_06]: I'm glad that it was a good trip.
[SPEAKER_06]: Hopefully one to remember for the ages. [SPEAKER_06]: I don't have much going on between now and next week. [SPEAKER_06]: I am struggling to stay awake right now because of the new work schedule. [SPEAKER_06]: I have to be awake for work in five and a half hours. [SPEAKER_06]: Um, yeah.
[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_06]: It's 8. [SPEAKER_06]: 22 right now. [SPEAKER_06]: So that's fun. [SPEAKER_06]: Um, that's why I'm tired all the time. [SPEAKER_06]: Um, but nothing going on the next week. [SPEAKER_06]: However, two weeks from now. [SPEAKER_06]: or is it two or three? [SPEAKER_06]: I'll be at Pax West.
[SPEAKER_06]: So I will be working at Pax West. [SPEAKER_06]: Not as part of the convention. [SPEAKER_06]: It's just I'm going there for part of my day job. [SPEAKER_06]: So if you'd like to come and [SPEAKER_06]: say hi, message me on discord, or in the robots radio channel, just tag me and say, hey, in seven, I'll be at Pax West as well.
[SPEAKER_06]: I'd love to meet up, maybe go to a panel together or something like that. [SPEAKER_06]: All right, that's all we got for this week'spectors, so until next week, [SPEAKER_06]: And then, you know, extract your secret agents with corrupt mayors of totally real towns. [SPEAKER_06]: All right.
