Why Allah Chose a Poor Farmer Over the Rich and Powerful

Tonight, journey with your narrator Ali into an age of defeat, lost hope, and unexpected leadership.
The Children of Israel have been scattered by conflict. Their sacred Ark has been captured, their king is gone, and their enemies press upon them from every side. Desperate for unity, they turn to Prophet Shammil—Samuel, peace be upon him—and ask him to appoint a king who can lead them back to courage.
But the man chosen is not a wealthy prince or a celebrated warrior.
He is Talut—Saul—a humble farmer from an overlooked tribe, searching the countryside for his family’s missing donkeys. In a single meeting with the prophet, his quiet life is transformed. Allah has chosen him to carry the burden of kingship, unite a broken nation, and prepare a faithful army to face the terrifying forces of Jalut—Goliath.
Yet before Talut’s soldiers can confront the giant, they must first overcome something within themselves. At a shimmering river beneath the heat of the journey, their patience, discipline, and sincerity are tested. Most will fail. Only a small company will continue toward the battlefield, trusting that victory does not belong to the largest army, but comes by the permission of Allah.
This is Part One of the story of Prophet Shammil and King Talut—a gentle but powerful account of humility, obedience, self-control, and the hidden ways in which Allah prepares ordinary people for extraordinary responsibilities.
Settle into this peaceful narration before sleep, during a quiet drive, while working, studying, or completing your evening chores. Let the story unfold slowly as we travel from the loss of the Ark to the rise of an unlikely king—and finally to the valley where a small band of believers stands beneath the shadow of a giant.
