Good Morning Football.
That's right.
TGI GMFB presented by Old Trapper Beef Jerky. October 16th. It is on the doorstep of week six. Jamie Yerdahl, Manti Teo.
Isaac Rochelle at the breakfast table here in Los Angeles.
Kyle Brandt waiting for his French toast in Buffalo Bill's basement in New York. Shout out to French toast. It's a pot of sugar.
Exactly.
But it is a Friday.
We're hungry.
We're hungry for football on a Sunday. But there was Thursday night game, Kyle. So what do you got for Seahawks Broncos?
Overtime, per always, per request.
Overtime, it's always every single game does it now, and it's kind of fun.
You have to stay up late.
Let's do it to the state of Colorado. Great uniforms, we know that. Was it great football? Not on offense.
The Broncos go up early. 3-0 field goal.
And then they have the longest drive of Bo Nix's career.
16 plays with a touchdown to J.K.
Dobbins.
That sounds all positive. And early on, it was for Denver. Already up 7-3. More Dobbins. A beautiful run. A really cool highlight. He jukes him out of his shorts. Then goes to the sideline. All right. 16 yards.
Later in the drive, they got a passing appearance. Goes down to the one-yard line. And R.J. Harvey scores a touchdown. Somebody check on the Seahawks. They're now losing 14-3. They don't want to go to 500 if they.
Lose this game. There's a Super Bowl chance. Let's get it together. Fourth quarter. Fourth quarter. Down 14-3. Sam Donald, you have three points. How is that possible when you have this guy? Jackson Smith and Jigba workman-like last night.
Didn't have the huge play. Didn't have the touchdown, but had a whole bunch of catches. Later in the drive on a third and ten, Sam Donald running. He's going to take off.
He gets it.
We are maybe in a handful of minutes left in the fourth quarter.
It's 14-3.
You've got to score on this drive. They do. This is George Jolani. He makes a tough run. Bad tackling by Denver. He gets in 14-9. You're down five, so you've got to go for two. It's a really entertaining play. Sam Donald's going to row right.
Nobody's open whatsoever. So since it's a conversion, just give somebody a shot. Who cares if it's picked off?
But it isn't. It's converted. Rashid Shaheed.
My wife's favorite name in the NFL. She was loving it last night. Grabs it, toe tap, got it. Great all-around player, not just a kick returner, but he is.
Fantastic at that, too. We'll get to that shortly.
Now, with the ball back, Darnold gets it again, but he gets picked off. That's Torrey Horton, not Tony Horton of B90X, but Torrey Horton. He was trying to get to Horton, and that's Chris Abrams' drain who gets the interception, underruns the route. Second turnover of the game for Seattle. So Denver should just milk the clock, get out of there, but they can't. They make Seattle burn two timeouts, and on a third and eight, they call a screen, and Bo Nix just kind of walks over and throws it into the defender's hand. They don't keep the clock running.
They don't make them burn a timeout. Now they have to punt. And you don't want to do that because it's a good punt, which is kind of bad news because the coverage is not there for Rashid Shaheed, and he is going, and you thought he might just house this one. He didn't, but it's a 31-yard return, and Seattle is in great shape with a timeout to at least tie the game, which they're looking to do here.
On a second and 10, you go to Cooper Cupp over the middle, move the chains.
The timeout is gone, but they have plenty of time. They're not going to go full commanders on this thing. Get up, on the ball, spike it, no problem. Professionals, Super Bowl champs. If you just make the kick, Jason Myers, which he does.
Overtime. It was Cooper Cupp and Bo Nix out there for the coin toss.
The Broncos won it and chose to kick as teams do these days.
So Sam Darnall on offense to start. Third and seven. Looking for... Oh, no.
What a terrible interception. But great news for Denver. Jaquan McMillan picks it off. I'm not sure what Sam Donald was looking at. It was clearly a misread. There were three Broncos there. The pass had no shot. And that all but ended the game because Will Lutz has been around for a long time.
And see you later.
Broncos win in OT with a field goal walk-off.
Never mind the flag. It was on Seattle.
The Seahawks lose again to fall to 500.
Bo Nix raises his arms in victory.
It definitely was a win, but it's more complicated than that. 17 to 14, the Broncos win the game.
And let's hear from the coaches.
Man, a huge team win. Defensively, we were magnificent. I don't know how many times we hit the quarterback. We got three takeaways. We felt like that was going to be a big deal in this game. Being smart with the football offensively, we got going early, and then obviously it was a battle. Happy for Lutz. I mean, he really hit that last kick, and it's a good team we beat. Two years in a row, we beat the Super Bowl team, and that's not easy to do.
That wasn't a performance that was good enough to win the game. You know?
By our team, but the quarterback leads the team, and I bet you Sam will be the first one to tell you that.
We love him, but that's what it is. You don't like that.
You know, I don't like Seahawks have now lost three games by three or fewer points.
They're right there. Their defense keeps it in the game.
And then and then Sam Darnold just can't make the right decision down the stretch. So, man, what do you make of this defending Super Bowl champs and how.
They can't finish?
Yeah, it's not looking good. And, you know, they have a new offensive coordinator and Brian Flurry. And he's trying to figure that out whenever you have a new play caller in town. I know it's kind of the same system, but it's not good. He's kind of running a Ryan Grubb type of system, which is college shotgun, and that's not something that Sam Darnold does. We said it in this first hour, if there's anybody that they're missing, it's Kenneth Walker or any type of resemblance of a run game.
But I go back to last night's game, and the Broncos are up 14-3, and Kaylee Hartung comes over and she interviews Sean Payton coming out of the tunnel for the second half, and she says, what made the difference? I wish that Sean would have just said me.
I really did. I mean, he said we're converting on third downs.
At the end of the day, the first scoring drive they had of 16 plays were 74 yards. There was a bunch of screens in there. There were some runs in there. When I look at that type of play calling, you're babysitting your quarterback. You're making it easy for him, and yet... For me, I look at Bo, and he's just still trying to find a way to give the defense a chance. And then it's just like at a certain point for Sean, he can only do so much.
And so I know they had Davis Webb in there, and now it's looking like the problem when Sean takes over the play calling is now you know who's the main culprit.
And for me, it's Bo Nix right now.
Sean isn't able to call the plays that he wants to call. He's not able to be creative like I've seen him be creative. There's a lot of screens.
I don't know how many screens they ran KB last night, but there's a bunch of them, right?
So those type of screens is number one to hopefully neutralize the rush and help out your quarterback. So hopefully, hopefully Bo goes back to rookie old Bo and hopefully Sam Darnold goes back to Super Bowl MVP or Super Bowl performing quarterback Sam Darnold because right now you're looking at two teams. They're almost identical great defenses question marks in the opposite side of football and that's not going to take you far in this season.
Yeah, man. I heard Super Bowl MVP.
You got to be careful when you're you were talking about Seahawks. We got some Seahawks fans that probably have a little hangover Walker leaving.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah. I caught it a little scary out a little bit. I caught it. Thanks Isaac, but it You just mentioned this with Bo Nix.
Bo Nix, airtime, ball in the air, didn't complete a pass over eight yards last night. So this is an issue with Bo Nix and this offense.
And you're right.
You would think with a quarterback like that, with all this hype– Screen City, a 16-play drive where it's just pure Screen City doesn't make sense. Another thing about this game that was just funny, this was like, you know, when you're a parent and you finally get like a mom and dad night out, just you, and then you end up just super tired and you're like, this should be fun. That's how I felt about this game. Like this overtime game should have been fun, but then you're looking at the quarterbacks and you're like, what are we doing?
And I think about my days playing when I would sit in these defensive meetings over and over again. And they're like, when it's second and eight, the pass percentage is this. That's how I felt about the Seattle Seahawks. Their offense is becoming so one-dimensional and predictable. When it's second and eight, that's why Benito is teeing off. Because you know, you're sitting there, you're looking at the sticks, your coach is yelling, pass, pass. He's pulling his ears back because he's saying, pin your ears back and go.
And that's why you're seeing so many complications. And the thing that I just can't get away from, and Kyle, you talked about it last segment, was the Kenneth Walker piece is tough because... Him being gone means that their run game, especially with no sharp in a right now, it's, it's unestablished. There's nothing established in their run game. And if that's even causing it to be even more one dimensional offensively. So I mentioned that Kenneth Walker hangover. I think it's real.
I think it's affecting this offense a lot.
I'm not saying the team would be totally different if he was there, but right now it's just, it's very predictable.
I Denver is four and two. I'm going to keep saying that. And that's the best thing you could possibly come up with. But I try to get into the heads of Broncos fans this morning.
How are you feeling?
If you were at that game, you know, you went with your family. You wore your jerseys. You saw Broncos win at night in overtime. But how did you feel on the drive home? Were you like, yes, we got this? Or is it like, what was that? because you saw the stat. I mean, the last time they've won with those few yards, it's like John Elway was just starting his career.
You know what the problem is?
Like, okay, so they just beat the Super Bowl champs at home and they got this young quarterback and this cool coach. Have we said the name Cortland Sutton once today? Have we said the name Jalen Waddle once today? These are like ostensibly star wide receivers with big contracts. Courtland Sutton had 19 yards receiving 19.
Okay. So it's Seattle.
They're really good on defense last week at 18.
The week before that he had four. I don't mean four catches. He had four yards.
This is Courtland Sutton. He's a veteran receiver. He's one of the better receivers in the league. There's nothing happening. It's so bad on the offense. Like, it's really, really inept. And it's not just like, well, they're getting out-schemed or maybe he's just struggling with his footwork. Bo Nix looks like he's struggling psychologically. At the end of the game, it looked like he just wanted to punt and get out of there. They had a screen which was ugly and awkward and bad football. And then they called his own number on a quarterback keeper where he just ran out of bounds. He doesn't look confident. He doesn't look comfortable.
He looks insecure. He looks yippy. I don't want to put Bo Yips out there because I really do like him and I root for the young quarterbacks.
But guys, there's something psychological going on.
He's not either, he's not gelling with Peyton right now, or he's not gelling with his teammates. But then this player, never mind accurate or effective, he just doesn't look alert, confident, and secure with himself out there. He looks totally tense, nervous, tight, all of those words. And this was a home game.
You're about to beat the Super Bowl champs. You're on the precipice of this at home.
You're 3-2. The season's not bottoming out.
So I don't know what to do with Bo Nix other than you keep emphasizing it's early, it's early. He's pretty young, and they're 4-2. But we've seen quarterbacks struggle. Fine, every single week. It's rare that you see them look that tight. Like they don't want to make a mistake no matter what. And maybe it's better if we just punt and let that defense do it again. And that's how it looks now.
I've been on the show long enough to know that Kyle started calling him Bot Purdy when he started the season back in 2022. Then it became a de facto Halloween costume. I don't want to see a Bo Yips Halloween costume out of you, Kyle. Okay, let's take that one off of the drawing board. And frankly, I don't even know how you would.
I hope I'm right. Please. Exactly.
Let's welcome in.
Ian Rappaport, our NFL Network Insider, with us this morning. Quarterback updates that we need before the weekend. And we begin with Jalen Hurts' serious situation for the Eagles quarterback.
We know that Jalen Hurts is out for Sunday and out indefinitely as Tanner McKee becomes the starting quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles this week and then beyond. And the beyond is really the unknown for the Eagles quarterback situation. Jalen Hurts has a blood clot in his calf. The team's medical doctors believe that it was moving, which is why they shut him down. He's now going to have treatment.
And when he is back on the field, remains to be seen. Most importantly— is Jalen Hurts' health and getting back and fixing the situation, essentially solving the blood cut situation that he was dealing with for a week or so. We just don't know when he's going to be able to return. So Tanner McKee, the starting quarterback. until they also have Cole Payton as the backup quarterback, until they sign a veteran. Caleb Williams' situation is one we are monitoring very closely as well for these Chicago Bears. He was a full participant twice this week. That is a very good sign. But we have not heard yet for sure, for sure, that Caleb is starting this week. More information coming today. Ben Johnson scheduled to speak with the reporters.
Caleb Williams did have a stress test that he still needed to pass on his hamstring. And then you saw him briefly there. Lamar Jackson for the Baltimore Ravens has not practiced yet this week. I know there was some hope initially that he would be able to practice and then play, still come back from that ankle sprain. He has not yet practiced, and that leads me to believe that potentially because he towers Snoop Hundley on the field on Sunday.
Which would be the second edition of it. Rap Sheet, thank you so much. And that's fine for the Ravens. You'd have to imagine they're comfortable going to Cleveland with Snoop Huntley because they just beat the Falcons in overtime with him at quarterback. Speaking of the Falcons, the Bears have them this weekend. Caleb spoke with reporters on Thursday and clearly frustrated with the way this injury has been talked about and covered.
Do not know before you start asking. Do not know if I'm playing yet. Have to go through a bunch of Medical protocols, obviously you have to get out there and practice, do the stress test thing that obviously you do when you're trying to come back from injury or serious injury.
What would you say was the injury? What would you tell us was the injury?
It was a hamstring tear and a pretty serious one.
Did they give you a grade?
Yeah, we got a grade, but I wouldn't say it's deserved to be put out there after all the false ones. So, next question.
Why keep the details of the injury secret? Because it's not deserving. Why?
Just.
Not deserving.
Next question. You take exception to... It doesn't. It doesn't.
Next question. Thank you.
Next question. Kyle, what do.
You make of this?
He had enough, he didn't like how it was treated and there's media is trying to get the information as much as they possibly could. And when they couldn't, maybe some people put some things out there that weren't totally accurate. There's a lot of media minutiae on it. But I think the more interesting headline is that Caleb is pissed off.
It's the first time we've really ever seen him like this since he showed up there a few years ago. And he's annoyed that he's been hurt. He's annoyed how the media handled it. And Caleb Williams is not a next question type guy at the media. Pretty courteous, pretty considerate, and he's just kind of, everybody has their moment when they've had enough. And listen, there's a lot he could have weighed in on. There's a yin and yang in that media session where the injury stuff he wasn't having, and I don't want to speak for him, but I think that might have been personal with maybe one reporter or maybe multiple reporters.
That's up to him.
But he also was asked about, like, all right, so the entire internet made fun of you for riding out on a cart with a towel on your head. I mean, me personally, I did it in the Chicago show, and he was asked about that, and I think he.
Had a little bit of a different attitude. Not being able to be out there was frustrating. That was more of the.
Tears or whatever that was, and then, you know, the other half of it was just everybody making jokes and all of that, but that doesn't bother me. It's the other half of the national or the local and and then putting out false things that weren't true um to then allow people to go run with it so um it's all right we'll be back out here soon and uh we'll be ready to roll.
I just, listen, I think he's going to play this weekend. I don't know. I'm not in touch with the Bears.
I just think he is by reading the signs and all the practice things he's been doing and.
The tests and everything. And we'll see. I don't know if we've.
Seen Caleb, like, really, really angry and motivated by whatever sources are motivating him in a while.
He's normally just happy to go lucky, focused, professional. But, like, he's... I don't know. This is, like.
The dark side, Caleb, pissed off. So he's got a very good opponent this weekend in Atlanta. Ben Johnson's taking a lot of crap this week. It's a Bears team that's been on kind of a little bit of a joy ride for the last year and a half. And now the coach is taking fire and the quarterback's pissed off.
So I'm fascinated to watch how they come out.
Yeah, when I hear Caleb talk about it and respond, my first thing is for the reporters, why does it matter?
Does it matter if there's a grade one, grade two, grade three? It doesn't matter. What are you gonna do with that anyway?
If you find out that it's a grade one, is that gonna change your perspective of the man? If you find out that it's a grade three and he's back sooner than he's supposed to, is that gonna change your perspective?
At the end of the day, it doesn't matter.
What matters is you know what type of quarterback Caleb Williams is. He's a passionate quarterback. He is at times a dramatic quarterback.
And I get it. I get the whole tears on the cart thing. I get it. Majority of it was because of.
What it meant for Caleb and the amount of work that he put in and maybe just.
The unknown of how long I'm going to be out and how much it takes to play this game. I get that. I've been there. I mean, I tore my Achilles. I knew my thing was over. Did the Achilles hurt? No.
What hurt was knowing that my season was over. That's where the tears came from. So I get it with him. So for Caleb, go out there. Be the quarterback that we know you can be because, yes, he is a dramatic quarterback. But this is something that's going to be also dramatic. It is going to be dramatically different. to go against the Chicago Bears in our offense. That offense is going to be dramatically better. And I know that one thing is the Chicago Bears, his teammates are happy that he's back. And whoever is going to play against the Chicago Bears aren't.
So that's what I think of it.
I'm not going to defend anyone in the press that made fun of him. But I am going to defend Manti, their decision and their desire to seek truthful and honest information. Because It doesn't matter if their perspective changes as the reporters in that room. What matters is that they're trying to get information to the fan base, and they're trying to represent what the fans seek to know.
About their quarterback.
The press sits there asking him questions because they are trying to get information about things that people care about.
So the perspective of the press doesn't matter. They care because they want... We want to know.
The same reason we want to know about Jalen Hurts and the severity of his calf injury. So I understand that there are nuances to why he might be annoyed, but I'm not going to say that they shouldn't be caring about what the grade of the injury is.
And I get that, Jayme. I think my only response to that is if you ask a Chicago Bears.
Fan what matters more to you is do you rather know about the grade of your quarterback's hamstring strain or tear, whatever Caleb says, or the fact that he's going to be ready for Sunday's game. And I think for Chicago Bears fans, They want to know that.
Are you going to play? Yes.
No, that's it. And I just didn't think and I get where you're coming from.
He wouldn't answer that question either.
Well, I don't think he can answer that question right now.
But the fact that he's had two full speed practices should tell you that he's going to be playing and there's there's conversation amongst quarterback coach and ownership that hey, we're not going to we're not going to disclose this information but when you do have two full speed practices off of a hamstring strain it's pretty dang clear that The guy's going to play and I guess he had a full speed workout before last week's game. So that's all the other things. So again, I get reporters have to do their job.
And all of that stuff.
I just don't know what the what's the reason behind needed to know what caliber strain it was.
Isaac is just to me. It's unnecessary.
Look, any local reporter, any Chicago Bears fan, I don't really care. Everybody should be so incredibly excited about Caleb Williams being frustrated because we saw frustrated Caleb Williams, and Caleb Williams had to prove himself last year in the playoffs. And then the guy ended up on Madden. Like, this is exactly where you want them to be. You have Ben Johnson, who is a guru.
We know that.
And you have Caleb Williams, who is very passionate. And look, God forbid my quarterback is on the cart crying as he goes out because he cares about his team. He didn't know the extent of his injury. He felt a hamstring tear, whatever you want to call it, and he started crying because he wants to be out there. He trained all offseason for it. It is exactly what you want.
We just talked about Bo Nix. Kyle, you just talked about him. Hey, he looked like he wanted to just punt the ball and end the game.
This is the complete opposite.
This is a quarterback who's waiting for his opportunity to come back and dominate.
So I love it. I think it's great for Chicago.
All right, Sunday kicks off for the Texas Jaguars game from Wembley Stadium. As the International Series rolls on for the NFL, it's 9.30 a.m. Eastern on NFL Network right here, or you can watch it on the ESPN app as well. Then the week will wrap up with the Commanders visiting the San Francisco 49ers, the perfect 49ers, and the Commanders team that has a tie at the end of its record on Monday Night Football at 8 p.m. Eastern on ABC, ESPN, and the ESPN app. Still to come on our show...
It's Sunday night showdown in Lambeau. The Packers, they took it to the Bears last week and they carry the momentum from week five on to the Cowboys. That game we thought we may have Michael Parsons back.
We do not.
So how does Jordan Love continue to pick up the pace for the offense, KB?
Also, let's talk some AFC, my friends.
Bills versus Raiders.
Remember the Bills won in SoFi and then stayed out on the West Coast, and now they're going to Vegas.
This is a fun game. I love this game. I'm into it. We'll talk about this and every other game this weekend. It's a great day here on Good Morning Football.
Good Morning Football.
All right, Kyle mentioned this.
The Buffalo Bills are still on the West Coast, and they are riding high after their electric win that puts them at 4-1 now over the Rams on Monday night.
Now, this all.
Despite the fact that James Cook lost a fumble in overtime, and that is something that Josh Allen said he knows the Raiders will try to exploit come Sunday.
Again, James is a tremendous football player. He understands, you know, what defenses are going to try to do now. Obviously, ball security is of most importance, and that's myself included, not making dumb decisions, putting the ball at risk, whether that's in the pass game or the run game. It takes everybody. Everybody's got to do their part, and he doesn't think any differently than that. It's something that we need to improve on as a team.
You know how smart the Bills are to keep morale high, be like, we don't have to go back to Western New York in mid-October. Let's just keep you down in Orange County in Southern California for the week before they go to Las Vegas to take on the Raiders, who have lost two in a row, by the way, after having a 3-0 start.
So, Manti, what do you make of Bills-Raiders on Sunday afternoon?
Well, when I look at both of these teams, I'm looking at a Raiders offense that, when you think of coach Clint Kubiak, you'd think, what, runner pass, Isaac, is his... type of calling. Is he a runner or a passer?
He's a runner.
Right now, Ashton Gentry hasn't had a rushing.
Touchdown yet, and that's concerning to me.
You look at the weeks, 48 yards rushing, second week, 56, 58, 27.
56, 58, 27. Is he healthy, ashen, genty? Is things going well?
For the Buffalo Bills, their defense last year was the number one passing defense in the league.
This year is not so good.
31st in pass defense, scoring defense 28th, total defense 30th.
There's a lot of things that when.
I look at both of them, I can almost guarantee that this is what this team is going to be about because these are their strengths. And this year, for some reason, Isaac, those aren't their strengths this year. So hopefully they can find a remedy to that.
It's funny you ask me about Clint Kubiak.
In my mind, I'm like, okay, you had Kenneth Walker last year. He ran the ball well. But also, you know, he turned Sam Darnold into a pretty good-looking quarterback. Yeah, so it's, you know, a complicated question there.
Sorry, I love it. I love it. I'm here for it. Sorry, that was my fault.
What I hear right now, even from what you're saying with Ashton Genting needing to establish himself, is this is very much an identity game.
For the Raiders.
They need to establish the run, and they need to stop the run. I played with Robbie Leonard. He was my defensive line coach for the Raiders, and now he's a defensive coordinator for the Raiders. I know he cares about stopping the run and establishing identity defensively. They're 28th in the league stopping the run. Hey, you're going against James Cook. If there's a week to emphasize it, it is right now. But then you might go, okay, James Cook, that's great. Oh, wait, Josh Allen, he hit triple digits running the ball last week.
Again, there's even.
More of an emphasis on stopping the run and establishing identity. I think it's on Max Crosby. I think it's on Robbie Leonard. This defense with excited defensive linemen, it creates seams.
They get upfield.
There's missed tackles sometimes. That's what they have to eliminate and stop the run, establish identity this week.
It's huge. Kyle, what do you got? I'll get Manti back for you.
Manti, when he was a young player at Eastern Michigan, when he was a young player at Eastern Michigan, who was Max Crosby's first college sack on?
Which quarterback did he sack? Eastern Michigan. I would say.
Consider the context clues with the question.
It's got to be a layup here. Eastern Michigan?
No, consider the context clues and the matchup that you are looking at this weekend.
Josh Allen?
Perhaps.
This is a fun fact. Josh Allen?
Josh Allen! That's his first college sack. Allen was at Wyoming. He was at Eastern Michigan. Max actually told us.
That about him like a while ago when he came on the show. He was a young dude. Not even really that even tatted up yet. Zach, Josh Allen. I'm here for the matchup between the two of them, of course.
You know Josh Allen's signature move in the pocket when a D lineman comes through is he'll stiff arm him and hold the ball back like that. Crosby's not here for that. Those two will get into it full MMA style. I love this individually between the.
Two of them.
But in the broader scheme, the Raiders need to win this game.
They need to win this game or the sky's completely falling. They're at home, all right? They've lost two in a row. They got shellacked by the Patriots.
They played well against the Chiefs and got this patronizing little pat on the back for keeping it close against the Chiefs at home. If you lose three in a row, you get to three and three, and now it's like all the national shows, even ours, probably will start to have the Mendoza conversation. Should he start? Is Kubiak really all he's cut up to be? I think this is not that huge of a game for the Raiders. It's almost maybe a trap game for the Bills, rather. I think it's huge for the Raiders. You can't lose three in a row. You can't lose again at home. If you're really a serious team, if you're a serious person, find a way to get this one at your home field.
The Bills have been out there for a week. You should be able to beat them.
Yeah, there's a real test for the Bills just to be able to finish off their emphasis on the West Coast, and then they play the Raiders, and then they have a bye.
All right, so that's what they can enter into the second half of the season with.
Sunday Night Football, you see the Cowboys visiting the Packers. Green Bay has won five straight against Dallas.
But for last.
Year's 40-40 tie, see, that's the kind of tie I'm here for when there's 80 points on the board.
That's neither here nor there. Here's both head coaches talking about the opposing offense, and we begin with Brian Schottenheimer.
Yeah, he's got speed. He's got weapons.
You know, you got Watson and Golden and Tucker Craft. And, you know, they're not afraid to turn the ball loose down the field, trusting those guys to make plays. But, again, you go into the game with a plan and you adjust on game day. But I'm not going to force anything in terms of, hey, you know, I'm expecting them to be in a shootout. We'll see how the game goes.
It's a different offense than what we run.
But I think it's pretty damn effective.
I think Dak's an elite quarterback.
And then you've got two legitimate number one receivers that they're capable of scoring on any play.
All right, now we know the basics from those two teams, though, coming off very different games in Week 5. Packers, as we said before, beat up on the Bears and the Cowboys. Well, we understand what happened there. So how do the Packers carry on their groove in Week 6, or can the Cowboys get right, Manti?
Well, I think that the Packers' offense is a lot closer to getting things, you know, rocking and rolling than the Dallas Cowboys' defense is, trying to figure out what they.
Got over there.
The Dallas Cowboys defense brought in Mike Pettin.
Like whenever you bring in an assistant.
Head coach or something like that to come help out your defense, I should tell you the status of.
What's going on in the locker room and on the sidelines.
Jordan Love, I thought it was very gutsy what him and Coach LaFleur did last week. You know that they're struggling in the offensive, in the run game. Yet they said, screw it, I'm going to throw this thing 50 yards down the football field.
You saw how that also affected the run game.
I mean, Marshawn Law, he got an angry run scepter. before he ran into the end zone because that passing game was working.
So usually the run game opens up the passing game.
But right now, last week for the Green Bay Packers, their pass game opened things up for the run game. So if they're able to do that, I think the Packers line up and match up very well against.
The Dallas Cowboys.
Yeah, I mean, look, Bantai, any offense in the NFL matches up well against the Cowboys defense. To be honest with you, I'm kind of over it because I think about my playing days. It's just frustrating. And here's what it comes down to. You get what you emphasize, right? And I think about the days, like, I played for the Colts. Eber Flus was my defensive coordinator. He came in every single day. He would go through every practice rep, and he would say, are you attempting to take the ball away? How many rips did you have last practice?
How many times did you punch the ball? This defense with the Cowboys has two takeaways. That, to me, shows that there is a culture problem on their defense. Are you guys emphasizing playing aggressive? You know, 11 men to the ball, run to the ball, take the ball away. This is like the second year in a row that we're talking about the exact same things with the Cowboys' defense.
And to be honest with you, I'm kind of over it. It's kind of frustrating. And would I be surprised if, you know, on Monday, it's like, hey... Jordan Love had another 350-yard game. No, I wouldn't be surprised, and it's sad, because the Cowboys, we want more from them. They're America's team, Kyle.
I look at the Cowboys offense. You know, the defense, you're right. It's well established. It's gone on for years. The Cowboys offense scored 16 points last week.
Like, at home. You know what I'm looking for in this game? Dak Prescott. Dak Prescott should be absolutely furious. Just light the place up.
Not only did you lose last week in a terrible, really kind of embarrassing loss. You had the whole incident in the tunnel with the truck driver or the cart driver, whatever the hell he was. It was just like an undignified look across the board.
Like, what a bad night. So that's all right. It happens. You're allowed.
But it wasn't just because the defense didn't cause any turnovers or the defense didn't do squat.
Neither did you guys.
Cowboys go to Lambeau loses game.
They're two and four. It sucks. They suck. Two and four teams are terrible.
I don't care what star they have in their helmet or how many primetime games or anything. Like, You can't beat this Green Bay team. I know they are flying high because they just whipped up the Bears, but this Green Bay team was really bleeding a few weeks ago, too. This is one of these games for the Cowboys where it's like, if you want to, like, stay even relevant and not make us bend over backwards to talk about you because we know the Thanksgiving game's coming and all this crap, but we're really not that good, go and win this game.
It's Sunday night. Everybody's going to be watching.
There'd be so much goodwill if the Cowboys bounced back after rock bottom last week and Dax doing the postgame interview and he threw three touchdowns and he won the game.
Like, I.
I don't want the Cowboys to go where we can't follow them. And if you lose again, and you've lost for the fourth time in six games, and your only wins this year are against the Commanders and a winless Houston team at the time, then what.
Are we even talking about you for? I had such high hopes for these Cowboys.
And if they don't win this game this week, they look dumb, I look dumb, we all look dumb.
At least show up and light it up a little bit, Dak. This is the week you've got to have a big one.
That was a classic example of when intrusive thoughts went out.
Because he was like, that sucks.
They suck. Call it how you see them. Two and four.
Goodbye.
And it doesn't help the fact.
It's not early anymore. It's almost Halloween. It's not like, well, slow start. No, we're getting into late October.
If you're not playing good football now, you're not a good team. So join us in the good teams if you want to. It's going to be November soon.
Cowboys haven't beat the Packers since 2016. Keep that in mind, too.
We're taking a look at some of the weeks.
That sucks.
Mad Minute doesn't. We love playing Mad Minute.
It's next on GMFB.
The Texans and the.
Jaguars are getting set for an AFC South showdown once again from Wembley Stadium this weekend as the international series continues. Manti, what do you make of this AFC South matchup after the Marvin Harrison Jr.
Trade?
Well, you know, the Meeko Ryans took over play calling for the defense against the Tennessee Titans and that defense started to look like we saw it, right? Now you're going against the Jacksonville Jaguars team where Liam Cohen coming off with a very emotional win against the Eagles last week. One of the most underrated, right? But the best thing is Henry Toto is back. My cousin is back playing the game. He's back playing from, I think he had a shoulder injury. So I'm excited to see what he does against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
He's my cousin and I don't know what injury he had.
Yeah, I think it was a shoulder. It was something. It was something. Go ahead, Isaac.
I'm looking at this game, and honestly, I'm like, can we just sit here and talk about Will Anderson Jr.
Yeah.
I mean, I'm a defensive lineman, so obviously I'm going to bring it up, and I'm going to pop quiz Manti, because here we are.
So Will Anderson Jr.
Right now has seven and a half sacks, 12 TFLs. What other D lineman in the last 15 years?
Let's go, let's go, let's go. Mad minute, bro. In 15 years has done that. It's J.J. Watt. Go ahead, Kyle. Oh, good one. Thank you. Very good. No, Manti didn't know it anyway. We just saved Manti. I'm sorry, Manti.
Every game for the Texans is a playoff game. Every single one. Last year, they started 0-3 and made the playoffs. Now they start 0-4 if they make the playoffs. Next year, they will start 0-5 and make the playoffs.
I don't know.
Jacksonville, don't let that happen. This is your de facto home game.
Take them out.
Doing trivia in 10 seconds or less is actually a crazy game that we should make Isaac Rochelle play at all times.
I also love how you guys are like, it's Mad Minute, Isaac. Can we, like, yes. Forget the trivia. It was fun. That was good. You can do it. You just got to go quick. We have to do question and answer, which I did. It's tough. I know.
And Kyle's just sitting there looming.
I'm ready, guys.
I'm ready.
All right, here we go.
I'm ready. Let's go.
Cardinals ramps.
Isaac, first 20 seconds or however long you'd like to take on Cardinals ramps.
Yeah, my question for the Cardinals is what's your identity? I see other teams in the league who may not be having as good of a.
Season, but you know what?
You still have certain guys at the helm, like I think the Chargers. You still have Harbaugh as your coach. I like what he brings. The Cardinals, I don't see what their identity is. This is an identity-setting game. Who are you going to be? Are you going to be the.
Tough team that shows up and dominates? We'll see. Is this where the Rams run starts? Because we've been waiting. We've been waiting.
Guys, Rams go Cardinals, Raiders, Chargers, Commanders, Cardinals, bye.
Bye. I mean, is that four wins right there? It better be.
Don't do it. Don't mess up and lose to the Cardinals. I don't think they will, but just definitely don't do that, you guys.
Well, you asked what was the identity of the Cardinals. I think you can still ask the question about the Rams.
What are you? Defensively, especially.
Offensively, I kind of know what you're... Defensively what I mean, we have Miles Garrett.
You have Aaron Donald.
You have all of the guys that you signed this offseason, but yet it's still not looking like it should at least what we.
Was that a dog.
It's not salmon sushi brand. It's a it's the clock that was up.
I can go get her though.
That's a cutie Kyle get ready for those mini helmets to potentially move because Ravens Browns has a lot of meaning in AFC North Territory.
Yeah, I don't even know where the Browns run is. I might have to go find it. Hey, good game here, right? Lamar up in the air, maybe Snoop Huntley. I actually hope it's Snoop Huntley because if Lamar is in any way in question, I don't want him to play right now. Was the Browns run just a little bit of fun to start the season or is this a real three and two? There's going to be, this is pretty cool.
There's going to be a loud, raucous atmosphere at Cleveland for this one. They have a winning record and the Ravens are in town. I'm going to watch this game.
I love it. Yeah.
Looking across the Tyler Huntley, he's going to be taking over.
It seems like that.
So he had a great, a good win against the Atlanta Falcons last week, but I'll tell you, there's a name Denzel Boston out of university of Washington. Why do we see you for the Cleveland Browns right now is being, is playing at a phenomenal level.
Keep it up. Denzel Boston. You're doing great.
Yeah, I'm looking at the Browns and Kyle. You just mentioned it. It's like a cake when you mix all the ingredients together and you put in the oven and you're like, I don't know if it's going to fall and be flat. I don't know if it's going to be dry. You don't really know what the Browns are right now. The pieces are kind of there.
Deshaun's he's done some stuff. The defense is playing.
Well, what are they actually going to be when it's all said and done?
Is a cake going to be good TBD? We'll see.
Connective tissue there.
Todd Munkin was part of the departure from the Ravens and now he goes up against a team that he used to coach. Manti, Buck Steelers and Jalen Daniels still quarterbacking the Buccaneers.
18-year age difference between the quarterbacks.
The biggest one, huh, Jane?
Yeah.
Well, you know what the biggest difference has been is Jalen Warren for the Pittsburgh Steelers. I mean, you look at DK Metcalf has 37 targets. Jalen Warren has 25, yet Jalen has more passing, receiving yards than DK Metcalf. So they need to figure out something on the wide receiver position, because right now the passing game is Jalen Warren and Pat Friermuth.
Let's get it going, DK. Yeah, I'm all in on Jalen Daniels for this. Not Jaden, Jalen.
Yes.
Because he's inspiring.
I know the post-game interview with his mom, yada, yada, yada.
People are like, why'd they do? Who cares?
He played really well. He was efficient, and he did what he was supposed to do. That's really rare for quarterbacks at his age in this situation.
I'm excited about it.
He did play the worst defense in potentially history last week.
This is a test. We'll see what Jalen Daniels can actually do in this situation. Very good.
Aaron Rodgers has nine touchdowns in the last three games.
Is that good? I mean, he's playing really well.
And we all buried this team because he used potty language to yell at Mike McCarthy, who he's known for over 20 years.
He's playing well.
Jalen Warren looks like, I mean, you know how I feel about Gibbs and Bijan. Jalen Warren looks like the offensive player of the year for halfway through October.
He is so good. And there's the truck, so I got to stop.
Isaac, Saints-Giants is happening. Are we going to get the Jameis Winston experience or the Tyler Shook theatrical release?
I'm just kind of over even calling it the James Winston experience. We're just getting Jameis. I talked about this yesterday. Jameis has gotten better every single week, right? Every single week he's done better. I see Harbaugh come out with the 1-0 shirt. I see Jameis saying 1% better. This team is focused on just incremental improvements, and they're doing it.
I'm super excited to watch Jameis Winston. Stop sleeping on Jameis.
I'm over it.

I don't know how high we can go before it goes over the hill, but we'll be watching. I hope for the Giants fans. We're very excited here in New York.
It's not this weekend.
All right, let's go Saints man when Mrs. Benson comes out and has to address things. It's not looking good. Tyler Shucks has been hit a lot. I mean against the Falcons against Minnesota. And the New York Giants has a pretty dang good pass rush. So let's keep Tyler Shook on his feet, shall we?
I like when we play Mad Minute.
Kyle does this.
It's a small message in there. He always says on one game, he goes, I'm going to be watching this game.
And the implication is that maybe there's some people out there who wouldn't be watching it. And Kyle, your I'm going to watch this game this weekend, this week was Ravens-Browns. So if anybody needs a viewership suggestion, Kyle Brandt's I'm going to watch it this weekend game is Ravens-Browns. There's your programming decision.
Yes.
All right, a lot to look forward to with week six on the horizon. We have one game under our belts, and Sunday begins early once again with the Texans and the Jaguars facing off in London at Wembley Stadium. With more on that, here's Molly McGrath.
The Texans arrived in London early Friday morning, just over 48 hours before their game against the Jaguars kicks off here at Wembley Stadium. Houston head coach D'Amico Ryans told us their team hit rock bottom after their 0-4 start to the season. Defensive end Will Anderson admitted that their defense was humbled by the rough start to the year, but said that everything changed when Ryans took over defensive play calling duties. Anderson said when he talks, everyone listens to him like he's our Mike linebacker or our captain.
In the huddle.
He commands our best. And Ryan stressed that their best will be needed against Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who's playing with incredible confidence and anticipation. He said our defense needs to play tight, sticky coverage to take away his first read. And this game is going to be like a boxing match where the more physical team will win.
For all the latest news and sound from around the NFL, it's NFL Total Access right here on NFL Network at noon Eastern.
Watch it.
You know you want to ahead of week six.
Great.
We had a good little review from Thursday night.
We got through Mad Minute.
Yeah.
You're holding a balloon hat, Manti.
It's a Baltimore Ravens balloon.
It kind of looks like Malachi's little hat.
Looks like a guardian cap.
A guardian cap thing. It's pretty cool. I saw it. I bought it in another room. It's pretty cool. It's actually nice. Pretty soft. Yeah.
KB, what are you most looking forward to on Sunday, huh?
I'm just looking for the teams that really need to win this weekend. The teams that matter. I'm not talking about the bad ones. Dallas at Green Bay needs one. Chicago at Atlanta needs one. But more than anything, my God, what's going on with the Philadelphia Eagles right now, who are going to be home against a good Carolina team.
One o'clock kickoff on CBS. They don't have a quarterback. They don't have a right tackle. They got to get a win somehow, someway.
They're big.
And by the way, we're going to be there in like a week and a half.
So please, Philadelphia. Let's pull it together. Well, you also got Marvin Harrison Jr. that's suiting up. Sunday morning. You'll see how that looks like. He's C.J.
Strong.
You'll see how that college relationship looks like in the NFL.
We're going to do more trivia with Isaac on KMFC when it's back.
