Good Morning Football is a production of the NFL in partnership with iHeartRadio.

Good Morning Football.

That's right, it's a fantastic day to talk about football. Welcome inside GMFB Good Morning Football, presented by Old Trapper Beef Jerky. Monday, October 12th, Jamie Erdahl, Manti Teo, Sam Acho back on a Monday.

As always.

And Kyle Brandt in New York, KB, late night on SVP. So the only shirt he could find was one that says, Hello, Wisconsin!

And now we've got to talk about Sunday night football, KB.

It was a great day of Sunday football, huh?

Wisconsin deserves it. We all deserve it. It's great to see you guys. I just have to do, if you could come here and shift to a quick, very quick adjustment to the set here, because a lot of people have a lot of comments about this.

So we'll go right to the, let's go right to the highlight, rather. Never mind.

Niners, let's do it. Seahawks Niners, right off the bat. Sam Donald looks right, is picked off by Renardo Green. It's only his 26th turnover since starting his last NFL season. That's the most in the NFL. Next drive, Mike Evans played the superhero game.

It was absolutely awesome. More on Mike Evans later.

Second quarter now, Sam Darnold scrambling. Now here's when I ring the bell, the Springer bell. If that happens on that sideline, look out. Seattle Seahawks surround him.

Trey Greenlaw. There's about 30 Seahawks and no Niners. That's not good.

And there's a helmetless Seahawk who takes a grill to the face. That's an incredible image.

It's not great. It's Ernest Jones, of course. We remember him from the Super Bowl. But then they get fighting. Ball comes out. George Delaney stripped in the end zone. It's recovered by the rookie, Grayson Halton, for the Niners. Touchdown.

549ers go up 21-3.

Third quarter now. Seahawks trailing 21-16. God, Jackson Smith and Jigba is so good. I love watching him play.

He wasn't 100% in this game, and we'll get to him more on the highlight, but nobody runs around Fred Warner like that.

I just love watching him play football. An amazing player.

Fourth quarter, Niners trailing by five. Red zone Purdy. Look how good he is. He is so good at this scrambling thing where he waits and waits, and then who does he find? Brandon Cooks, the concept of professional, who can catch any touchdown for any team in any season.

Late fourth quarter, one minute left in the game. Niners up three.

You go to JSN and he's got, oh my.

God, he dropped it. He dropped it.

It reminds me a little bit of Wes Welker in the Super Bowl from Tom Brady who was on the call.

So it's fourth and ten now. You think that was dramatic? Cooper Cuff! Get the first down, you got to get it. He definitely got it, right? No, the official right on.

It immediately signaled he was short. Dean Blandino explaining the call said he was short. Very interesting explanation. Everyone at home was like, what do you mean? He made it, he made it, he definitely made it. They looked at it, they did not overturn the call, the game is over.

The game is over.

Captain America John Lynch with a big toothy grin.

An excellent sloppy game with a.

Lot of scores, a lot of turnovers, and a really weird ending.

Niners 32-29. Let's hear from Kyle Shanahan.

The way the game went, I mean, emotions only build. I mean, there was all the turnovers in the game, all the back and forth, a lot of good things in the game, a lot of bad things. Like, it was just, I'm going against a good team like that in that environment. I mean, emotions only get higher and higher as it goes. And it was a really tough win.

By no means was everything perfect, but I just thought the grit of the guys in all three phases, just they never wavered. They stayed locked in, kept the focus, never freaked out once a bad thing happened and found a way to.

Get it done at the end.

Oh, it was a beautiful thing, Sam Macho, wasn't it?

What a great game.

We love the NFC West and it's games like that as to why. Seahawks have been great at home dating back to last season, but here we are as 49ers able to best them. What did you think about watching that game yesterday?

It felt like a preview of an NFC championship game. Let's go.

It might sound weird with a team like the Rams being in the NFC, but yes, there were seven turnovers. Yes, it was quote-unquote sloppy, but that's what good football teams do. It still looked like good football despite some of the punch-outs, right? Despite that Fred Warner punch-out that was outstanding, despite some of the fumbles. That fourth quarter, the way the game ended, the way that Brock Purdy found Mike Evans and found Brandon Cooks.

And had a couple outstanding slant routes in the red zone.

Even though Brock Purdy struggled early in this game, mind you, he's playing a Super Bowl champion, reigning Super Bowl champion defense. This game still was the game that felt like you're watching two really good teams play a really good game that had that playoff type of atmosphere.

I got a chance.

I played for the Arizona Cardinals. So I played in that Seattle Seahawks Stadium. That's the loudest stadium in the NFL that I've ever played in.

And mind you, the Cardinals were bad when I played. We weren't very good. This is a good team.

So much noise, so much the atmosphere. But yet, when it mattered the most, you saw Rob Purdy step up. You saw Mike Evans step up. Debo did his thing a couple times as well.

So it just felt like this.

NFC Championship game preview, despite how good the Vikings look, despite how everyone has so much high expectations for the Rams.

Sloppy game, but really, really good. Two good teams. You played in it when it was CenturyLink. Yeah, when it was CenturyLink. The link.

Hey, man.

That was the Lumen Field. Yeah. Second century like it still was rocking and rolling.

The thing that I took away from this game is you look at the 49ers and you look at the Seahawks. They're identical. These are two teams that mirror each other. You look at the Seattle side of the equation. You look at a top five defense that has an offense that's trying to figure out what their run game looks like.

But when you have somebody like Jackson Smith and Jigbo, arguably the best wide receiver in the game, he kind of cancels all of those worries out. Then on the flip side of that, you have the San Francisco 49ers.

This year, a top.

Five offense, a defense that's still trying to figure out where their pass rush is coming from.

But then you have Fred Warner. This is an argument.

He is the best linebacker in the NFL right now. For me, yesterday's game came down to one thing.

You mentioned it a little bit, Sam.

The turnovers, but more importantly, the points off of those turnovers. There are seven turnovers total.

38 points combined.

The Seattle Seahawks, they had three, but they only had 17. I say only because the San Francisco 49ers had four And they had 21 points.

That's a four-point difference. You look at that final score. That's a three-point difference in that.

Victory for the San Francisco 49ers. So, KB, I'm looking at these two NFC West rivalries, these two NFC West rivals.

They're exactly the same. They mirror each other so well.

And when it comes down to this type of game, it's those small little details in that four-point difference and that turnover margin that I thought won the game for the San Francisco 49ers.

It was an unbelievably entertaining game. Felt like there were stakes. Felt like you're definitely going to see it three times this year.

And this was just one.

But also some just really indelible images from this game. Can we first go to the Seahawks sideline? Because that was some madness. When the quarterback gets tapped like that by the famous linebacker on the other team on the Seahawks sideline.

You know there's going to be action. And it does.

And it was laid and they flagged and everything. But this is a different thing if it's on the Niners sideline.

You.

For Greenlaw to do that in Seattle, and then there's 700 Seahawks immediately surrounding him. Sometimes in these scrums, there's always that maniac who doesn't have his helmet on who will still go helmet to helmet. Ernest took a crossbar to the bridge of his nose, which got Greenlaw ejected. These two guys are, in the football sense, just complete psychos.

There's a part of me that I know it's naughty, and if you're waking.

Up this morning, don't do this. But I respect the gladiator thing that's going on there. And I know you guys at the table, too. Like, not on my sideline, Greenlaw's like, Like, yeah, I'll do it on your side.

I'll do it anywhere. I'm crazy like that.

The other thing, Mike Evans, not just like, oh, he shows up in San Francisco and he shows the young players he's a good leader. Amazing game for him. Do you know yesterday he passed Tony Gonzalez on the all-time touchdown list and then he did this? And then he did this to Trayvon Diggs. I mean, I've seen people say, what's your name?

I don't know your name. I've seen people say, turn around. I don't know your name.

I have never seen someone physically take the other player, turn them around to see the name plates. It's so perfect. It's such physical comedy. And then afterwards, I think we have it. Mike Evans said this.

I was blocking him into the whistle and he said something to him. like I'm doing extra or something like that. And I didn't, I didn't know that was him at first. Cause I played against him a few times and we always been cool. You know, he was, he was a good player. And, uh, I didn't, I honestly didn't know it was him. Cause in the helmet, it's hard to tell sometimes. And no, we were just, we were talking trash. And, um, I think I like pushed him and he, and then I was like, who are you? And I looked and made sure I was big. And then he like, and then he, he, he mushed me.

It should have been a penalty. It might actually be worse.

That he's like, oh, I didn't know Diggs was on this team. I have no idea who team he was on.

Either way, to do that amidst a hero game that you won against the arch rival.

And again, he passed Tony Gonzalez an all-time touchdown lead.

He's just now 19th. He's around Lance Allworth, some other legends. Just an amazing day for number five.

Kyle, it's very well done. There's no mushing to be had.

On GMFB.

Also, Mike Evans, all-time good guy, but I'm still not sure I buy that. I'm pretty sure he's just, like, rubbing it. He's mushing him back, okay, at the press conference. We're going to get more into this game, of course, and the rest of them on GMFB, but we have to check in with Ian Rapoport now, our NFL Network insider with us this morning.

Rapchi, good morning to you. 49ers, I hate this. Injured, blah, blah.

Again, they didn't have Kyle Juszczyk, but now we need a Deebo Samuel update, please.

Yeah, it's seemingly every game this season actually going back all the way to the preseason. It has been a which is the latest San Francisco 49er receiver to be injured. Yesterday was Debo Samuel, who, man, has turned back the clock, looking like the Debo of old has become an integral part of this offense. Once again, he went down along the sideline with a hamstring injury and the whole thing was ruined.

He fumbled.

He landed on the ball, seemingly hurt himself when he landed on the ball. You're going to see it right here. and then looked like he was just out. And, you know, the MRI has not come back. It has not had the MRI yet for the hamstring. Kyle Shannon said after the game he did not know the severity. But judging from the context clues, as we call it, as my kids are learning in English right now, the fact that the 49ers ruled Debo Samuel out immediately is not a good sign. Now, it's a hamstring injury, so the hope is it's not too long-term. But generally, for fast-twitch guys, we need to run like Debo needs to run.

When they have a hamstring injury.

Generally, that is several weeks. We'll see what the MRI says, but it certainly appears like the 49ers are going to be relying on guys like Brandon Cooks and others while Devo Samuel recovers from this injury.

You just brought me.

Back with the context clues. Kyle, when I show a quarterback on the sideline, what's the context clue again?

Ravens-Falcons. Yes, exactly right.

Lamar was out, Snoop Huntley was in, but Penix is back, and everything's been great for the Falcons since Penix is back.

Kyle Pitts scored a touchdown. People give him a lot of crap and fantasy, but he scored yesterday. All right, third quarter, though.

17-9.

Lamar to pick number 22, the future Hall of Famer.

Touchdown!

That is his 135th, but only his sixth receiving touchdown ever, and his first receiving touchdown in nearly two years.

How about this? Touchdown again! Snoop is on fire!

It's absolutely incredible.

We get the Baltimore touchdown. Afterwards, that's DeMonteva's walker. Two-point conversion. Derrick Henry! You wily old man, you! They take the lead, or rather, they tie it up 23-23. All right.

Ensuing Falcons possession.

27 seconds left. Penix rolls to his left. That helps. He's a lefty.

Boom!

Huge hit.

Atlanta jumps on the fumble, but Penix is messed up. You see he takes the massive hit, all kinds of traffic there. He leaves the game for a play, and the game goes to overtime. They're checking him out. More on him maybe shortly. Take another look now. Here we go.

Tyler Huntley. Give it to the big man. Watch the scrum. Go, go, go, go. That's incredible.

That's why I got out of bed in the morning to watch football. Derrick Henry, as Bijan can only watch helplessly. And then Snoop Huntley.

Touchdown, if you're still getting up to speed on the overtime rules after all these years.

The game is not over, even though they did score a touchdown. But guess who's coming in?

Tua!

Tua! It's like at halftime of the title game.

You can come in and be a hero. Except it's not like halftime of the title game.

At all because he does this.

That is intercepted by Kyle Hamilton, who has Atlanta roots and comes home. And he watched Notre Dame just kick the bejesus out of Stanford this weekend. And then he watched Baltimore beat Atlanta 30-23.

Let's hear from, look how large and look how sleepless Derrick Henry is in this photo. What a specimen.

I think having that drive was great for us to be able to, you know, keep keep the momentum going, keep the drive going, letting the clock run down, and just keeping that energy. I feel like guys are just focused on another level and great execution by every single body on offense. To the O-line, man, hell of a job.

They did a great job in the run game. Snoop balled out. I told y'all, when y'all asked me what I thought, turn on the tape.

He gonna show you.

You know we talk about that meme all the time on this show where it's like the guy looking back.

He's like walking back to his girlfriend.

That's what I did when they said direct snap to Derrick Henry i was like wait what what are the ravens gonna do i love that oh my gosh it was so perfect the run.

Game yeah the run game was was great and what i loved about the baltimore ravens is jesse minter said hey listen we're gonna do what we do we don't have lamar jackson in the game but listen this is the dna of this football team we're gonna run it and over time they took seven minutes derrick henry ran the ball seven times it's like Let's not complicate this, right?

So for me, this game was won for Baltimore on the back of that.

Man right there and their defense.

Guys, like I said, the simplicity of football for the Baltimore Ravens defensively, the game plan was do not let B.

John Robinson kill us. It's the B.

John Robinson that for the past two weeks had four rushing touchdowns. B. John didn't see the end zone. B. John didn't see 100 yards rushing yesterday. That was their game plan. You're going to beat us some way, somehow, but it's not going to be with B. John, and we're going to continue to run downhill with Derrick Henry and continue to jump on his back, and he's going to lead us to victory. I thought it was very impressive on the simplicity of the game plan for the Baltimore Ravens.

But what's also interesting, too, is Atlanta and now another quarterback injury. I mean, it's been back and forth. Atlanta's been looking like a good team ever since Michael Penix came back healthy. And then this team, this Atlanta team, was going back and forth with the Ravens. And it did feel like the Ravens were going to win. But, man, that hit right there. Then the injury to Michael Penix.

At the end of the game in overtime, I get it, there was that eight-minute drive or seven and some change minute drive, but the Atlanta Falcons still had a chance to go back and win it. But then when Tua came in, whether that's a lack of preparation or maybe injury from before, Tua wasn't able to get the job done.

And so for me, it's frustrating if you're a Falcons fan because season started slow, quarterback gets healthy, you're looking good, and all of a sudden quarterback goes down again. And so whether it's going to be– I don't know how the severity of Penix's injury.

Yeah. But, man, with Bijan playing the way he's doing, amazing. Bijan, outstanding. Drake London, all of a sudden, you have a quarterback, you don't have a chance. I know.

And Tua had one completion, the pass before that pick, where like, okay, Tua.

Oh, no, Tua.

It was the high and the low. Let's get an update on Michael Penix Jr., shall we? Rap sheet, return to us, please.

Also, a Lamar Jackson update as well, if you could, if he's going to come back to the Ravens anytime soon.

What you got? Sure.

We'll start with Michael Penix Jr. You saw him leave with a rib injury. Actually said he likely would have been able to re-enter the game if their possession had been first.

Basically, he had the rib injury. He was feeling okay, but it hurt.

He got cold on the sideline, got to settle in a little bit, and by the time it was time to go back out there, he could not do it. So that is why you saw Tua. Penix told reporters after the game he believes that next week he will be okay because that's the type of competitor he is, but there's several type of rib injuries. There's Rib cartilage.

There's just a rib fracture. We'll see what the tests show on this TBD on his availability for next week. And then you asked about Lamar Jackson. My understanding is he was actually closer than people realized this week. So there is some hope from the Baltimore Ravens that next week he will be back on the field.

He has been rehabbing.

Extremely diligently inside the team facility to try to get back.

Ian, you and I were both in Detroit, Michigan in the draft theater for the draft a couple of years ago. I remember vividly, I was standing with a bunch of Arizona Cardinals fans with the number four overall pick. They take Marvin Harrison Jr. It was one of the loudest cheers I've heard all night. There was a woman I was standing next to who started crying. She was so happy that they drafted the player they wanted.

And now he's just poof, he's gone.

What the hell happened here and why?

Yesterday, a blockbuster trade. The Arizona Cardinals moved on from Marvin Harrison Jr. in really one of the strangest and craziest turn of events that you could possibly imagine.

First, the why.

It simply was not working out in Arizona for Marvin Harrison. Extremely talented, still the player that the Cardinals took fourth overall.

And it's not just the Cardinals.

Many, many, many teams would have taken Harrison as a top five pick. Several teams had him over Malik Davis. It wasn't just the Cardinals. This was essentially a consensus pick. In their offense, not getting a lot of targets. The targets he was getting, it really was not happening. The frustration had been mounting. And actually, he hired agents from Athletes First, Todd French and Torrey Dandy, to help navigate a trade, which is what's been happening behind the scenes for the last several weeks. This all culminated first on Saturday when me and Kali got him. Schefter reported that Harrison was going to be traded today. but the team was not to be revealed. Last night, the team was revealed.

It is Marvin Harrison and a seventh rounder for a second rounder this year going to the Arizona Cardinals.

And a sixth rounder.

So it's essentially Marvin Harrison for a this year two goes to the Arizona Cardinals. Meanwhile, the Houston Texans get a really, really talented receiver. Harrison, by the way, gets to pair with his old college quarterback, C.J.

Stroud.

Thank you very much for all that intel. That was a fascinating development.

And we were waiting on Baited Breath for Monday morning on GMFB to find out what the destination was for that player. Kyle Brandt, I circle back to you for, I feel like you got robbed at the start of the show. You needed a status update on how you decorate your basement.

So go ahead.

It's not even me getting robbed, Jamie. It's the people, because I get a lot of tweets about this. Every Monday morning, I have the teams that are standing in first place in the division.

Quick wraparound, okay? Follow me here.

Tie by win-win.

This all stays. They play tonight. We might have to change that one.

Stay tuned. Win by... Oh, no.

Not these guys. Yes, I'm sorry, but I'm really not sorry. It's not my fault. Cleveland, it was a nice little stay. Maybe you'll be back, but... With a backup quarterback, the Baltimore Ravens are back on the shelf. They're 4-1. Everybody else is 3-2. It's not my fault. I don't control it. I'm only the curator, and maybe we'll change it again next week.

But I'm sorry. Maybe you'll be back, but it's not up to me.

I don't know.

Why do I feel like there's weird glee in your voice right now? It's because all the Browns fans yelled at him when it was wrong last week.

No, not at all.

Not at all. I like this one up there. It's kind of cool. Okay. Okay.

Here we go. Wait until next week and you'll see the helmets.

Move again.

This is the game that Kyle just said.

Tonight still has to be played until we find out what's going on in the AFC East. It's Bill's Rams and it's happening a football throw away from us here on GMFB. Fantastic matchup between the last two MVPs for the NFL, Josh Allen, Matthew Stafford, and a plethora of other players that are also really fun to watch. Not just a quarterback show.

Come on now.

Kickoff tonight, 8 p.m. Eastern on the family of networks as we sign up for a fantastic finish to week five. You can watch it any place, any time. Manny Kass, ba-ba-ba, Manti.

It's a great game.

It is a great game. We've had some great games on Sunday. Some crazy endings. Taking the top spot for the craziness. The Giants and the Commanders. What the heck happened?

We'll hear more from it from the decision makers and we'll get into it in some conversation.

What else we got, KB?

You know who loves the commanders this morning? The Philadelphia Eagles. Way to pick us up, guys, because we were going to get deep fried all day, and now anybody is talking about that stupid stuff you did at the end of your game. But the end of the Jags-Eagles was not quite as weird, but it was really, really, really rare, and we'll get into it. Crazy times in London.

Stay with us. All right, let's get into it. This one just seems like your normal game between a couple of rivals. Jane Daniels is back. That's exciting, but it got so weird. 19-13, we're joining in the fourth quarter. That means you know it's good, and he's gone. All right, Jane's back.

I love to see it. 26-yard touchdown run. Such a cool player when he's on the field and.

Healthy, and he's just been hurt so much. I think there's some goodwill here. Jameis. Isaiah Likely. Wait a second. The ball came out. Hold on. Take another look.

Isaiah likely just gets the ball across the plane.

I sound like Tony Romo now. They say touchdown. Likely had 11 catches and two touchdowns. Fourth quarter, 27-20. Jameis. Neighbors! 17-yard touchdown.

Malik Neighbors had 11 catches and 121 yards.

He was great. Break up the Giants. We're going to overtime. All right. This is the Giants' second possession in overtime. There's only two minutes left. And, oh, no, don't do this. They're already in field goal range. And my nephew, Cam Scadaboo, fumbles.

Deron Payne recovers Scadaboo inconsolable.

A terrible mistake. So now Washington get a drive together. You can win. And here we go. 55 seconds. Hand off to Rashard White for two yards. Down to the 24 yard line. There's 50 seconds left.

They have no timeouts. They're well within field goal range. 44, 43, they're taking their time, no big deal. They snap the ball at 12 seconds. And Zayden just runs around and falls down and the damn game is over.

There's no timeouts. They're not even close to being able to snap it.

It's a tie game and the Giants start having a party on the field because of how stupid the commanders were. one of the worst non-wins you will ever see it's completely inexplicable i was totally unsatisfied with their explanations afterwards dan quinn who lost 28 to 3 games is more mad now than i saw him after that super bowl 27 27 a wtf classic by the commanders who are now one and three and one.

Let's talk to Dan Quinn. What the hell was that, coach?

Does not fall on him. It's an outside throw or a clock. You know, those are the two, you know, out-of-bounds throw or a clock. And that has to come from me. I don't even have to put him into that spot. I can do that earlier. And we can finish, you know, the kick early. We don't need to gain more yards. So that's on me. Did you hear anything or say anything in the huddle about, hey, you know, we've got to get the clock stopped here?

No.

Yeah, just got to be better. Just got to be better. Did you guys know there was a timeout? You didn't have any timeouts left.

Was that talked about in the huddle after the white run?

That was talked about in the huddle, yes.

This feels like a murder mystery at this point. You're like, well, who knew what and who was responsible for what, Manti?

It was confusing. Kyle stuck the landing on it.

Yeah.

All-time WTF game, we have our first tie of 2025.

Yeah, I don't know what the heck happened. You have 55 seconds left on the clock before that first and ten play. The conversation should have been, listen, we're gonna run this football. Then after we run this football, we're gonna get back on the ball. And wherever their kicker feels the most comfortable, whether it's from the left hash, right hash, they're already in the middle of the field.

Jaden Daniels, you're going to get the ball, go to that spot, kneel it, and then clock it after that with four seconds left on fourth down. That's what the conversation would have been, but David Blau then sends in 13 personnel for that second down play and then decides to run a passing play. I don't know where the miscommunication happened, Sam. Obviously, there wasn't a lot of clear communication, so...

This is on Jaden. This is on David Blau. This is on Dan Quinn. This is on everybody that had a responsibility in communicating what the expectation was for that situation. Because to your point, Jamie, they bled 40 seconds off the clock.

No urgency.

There's zero urgency.

And then you go and you throw the ball in 13 personnel.

It just didn't make any type of sense.

But even in that situation, Jaden Daniels has to know to throw the ball away. First of all, the urgency has to be there. That's part A. Part A, like I think about when we play, situational Saturdays. Saturdays, you go over situations like this. Any different situation in football, you start to explain, okay, here's what we do, here's what you don't do, here's the good, here's the bad.

This would be on the all-time highlights of the worst things you can do in a situation. Number one, there were lackadaisical going to the line of scrimmage. There's 50 seconds left. Call it 49 if you want to when the play was getting ready to begin. They slowly walked up, meandered to the line of scrimmage, kind of getting motion, everybody situated. Then you run the play. People got frustrated on saying, why would you run a pass play? Even if you do run a pass play, throw the ball.

I understand that the play was covered. Kayvon Thibodeau on the defense did an outstanding job of getting underneath the flat route. At that point, Jane Daniels has to know, throw the ball out of bounds. The worst thing you can do is take a sack. Usually in football, people say in those two-minute situations, you can't take a sack.

Well, this is why.

This is exactly why you can't take a sack. You can't go down in that situation because the time could run out. I don't care if it's a bad call or not. Jaden Daniels, as the quarterback and the leader of the team, throw the ball away. Throw it over the receiver's head. The clock will stop. There was 14 seconds, or at that time where you could have thrown it, nine seconds left.

And just execute the play and the game will be over.

So for me, it's frustrating as a guy who's been in these situations because you literally every single Saturday, I mean, Bruce Arians, that's what we would do in Arizona. We'd call it situational Saturdays. We'd watch plays like this, the good, the bad, and you execute. And this was just, I mean, it was like a gift-wrapped non-loss.

You know, hey, here's a gift.

We're not going to cause you to lose. We'll just give you a win almost.

Listen, there are some very difficult situations in this game, and I mean in the game of football, where even though they are professionals, there's bedlam and there's chaos and the clock's ticking down and you got to make decisions really quickly and maybe you make a mistake strategically.

There are those situations. This was not one of them. This was easy. This was basic football. No panic, no rush. You're not in the rush at all. I don't care if you don't have timeouts. You have time. There was so much time after.

That last running play, 50 seconds. Just everybody chill, a little communication in the damn headset, or just old fashioned yelling.

To tell him what to do. It was not difficult at all. I have no sympathy. And by the way, I don't even know why they ran another play. Just kick it.

You're on the 24-yard line. Your kicker is two for two on the day. Kick the ball. Don't mess it up. And the part that really bothers me and I think is annoying for fans is you get to the post-game press conference after this nonsense, and we want to know what the hell happened. Why did this happen? Explain what happened.

Dan Quinn just says, oh, it's my fault. Jaden says it starts with me.

We know that, you guys. We know whose fault it is, and we know where it starts. We want to know what happened. Jaden. Did you forget you don't have any timeouts? I think you did. Did you?

I know you don't want to admit it, but just I think you did. Dan, did you trust Jaden too much that he's like, well, he's playing a lot of football.

He's got this.

And you should have yelled something like, hey, Jaden, remember, we don't have any timeouts. You should have, but you didn't. That's what I wanted to hear. It was all this nonsense. Well, we got to get better.

Shut up.

It was one of the worst losses or non-wins or whatever the hell we're calling it I've seen in years.

And there's no explanation, there's no reason.

And it wasn't even a challenging situation that sunk you.

It was basic stuff. My seventh, eighth grade football team could have handled that, all right? It was so bad, and the explanation was even worse.

It's true.

You watch youth football now and they don't have clocks in the field and they're still running up to the line of scrimmage and have situational awareness at times. 20 clocks out there. Kyle, I bet and I hope that the D.C. media, whoever is in charge of that, like they do have to get to the bottom of this.

They need to understand A to B. And so we have further explanation until then. We have more highlights to get to on GMFB. We got to check in.

You think Kyle was mad about that?

He was saving that rage and that emotion for whatever happened in London yesterday. And the commanders and the giants took over and he went with that instead. Lions beat up on the Cardinals. We knew that was going to be a points of Palooza and it was in Arizona.

All right, here we go. Tottenham Hotspur. We're there all the time. We love it.

Second Street Week NFL is in London. The Jags hang out there all the time. All right, Eagles are missing a lot of players. You know, it's half the football. You got to go on and win. 14 to 10. Fourth and five.

We're jumping in that fourth quarter. Trevor Lawrence.

Oh!

Touchdown, Parker Washington.

This is Eftim Chisholm impression. By the way, Eftim Chisholm is balling out every week.

I love that guy.

Jaguars lead pending at two points.

Levi, too, rather, pending the PIT. But wait, it's a high snap. And he hooks it.

He hooks it, which means it will remain 16-14, which means ostensibly the Eagles could win with a field goal.

Jalen Hurts, it's been a tough week. It's been a tough month. How about some goodwill here? Jalen, over the middle.

All right, Dallas Goddard, his favorite guy, 17 yards down to the Jaguars, 34, 12 seconds left.

Jake Elliott, longtime Eagle. The kick is up, and it is good!

With eight seconds left, the Eagles are gonna win the game. 17-16, there's only eight seconds left.

Surely that pittance will not be sufficient for a comeback.

But wait, the kickoff lands inbounds, and Amir Abdullah is damn near gonna house this thing.

But wait, three, two, one, and he's down, he's down.

He was tackled with one second left. If only the Jaguars had the kicker with the strongest leg in NFL history.

That would really help. Oh, wait. They do. Oh, no.

There's no way Cam Little's going to cork this thing, right? Well, Cam Little, take it away.

Jags win! Jags win! 19-17. Look at the celebration. He looks like the coolest guy in the United Kingdom. Jalen Hurts is like, did we just lose after eight seconds? That kid's crying.

Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.

I'm laughing at a child crying on a Monday morning.

And look at Liam Cohen high-stepping, 19-17. Amazing, amazing win for the Jags, but devastating for Philadelphia with all what they've been through. And Nick Sirianni, you kicked it to their kick returner instead of kicking it for a touchback.

What say you, coach?

I didn't make the right decision, and I lost us that game. And that's what I said to our guys.

And.

What hurts there is that the guys fought so hard, and then I don't make the decision that I should make at the end of the game, and I cost us that game, and I put that fully on me.

All right, here we go.

Nick Sirianni tried to explain himself, but the Jags win in London. Now they have game two next week against the Texans coming off a win.

Fantastic setup. Brutal for the Eagles, man.

Yeah, it's either you make a bad call or a wrong call. I'm not going to jump on Nick Sirianni and say he made the wrong call because at that time you kind of hoped that your kickoff team goes down there and makes a tackle. But it was a bad call because you should have kicked it.

Out of the end zone. The ball would have been on the 35-yard line.

And then you trust that defense that has carried you the entire game offensively. They don't have any time else. There's eight seconds left in the ball game. They're going to have to do one of those where they throw the ball and they keep lateraling it. And my money is on the Eagles defense to come up big in that situation. So if I had to choose between my kickoff team making the play or my defense making the play, Sam, I'm going all in on the defense making the play.

I think it was the right call. I think special teams, you just got to execute. Simple as that, right? I played a bunch of special teams in my career. You got to be able to make a tackle. I mean, you have to make a tackle, right? Number one, number two.

But even despite that, I think we've got to give a big-time shout-out to the Jacksonville Jaguars special teams unit. At the beginning of the game, they ran a kickoff return back for a touchdown. Now, it got called back for holding a penalty. There was a scrap in the middle of the field. Right, there was a scrap, et cetera.

But then also, there was an emergency long snapper that snapped that ball super high up in the air. And shout-out to Logan Cook, the punter slash holder, getting it down, Kim Little doing the rest. And so, it was the right call by Sirianni. They just didn't execute on the Eagles' side, and the Jaguars did.

You know, what's crazy is they did eventually make a tackle on that kickoff. But if they had waited just one second more to make the tackle, the game would be over. It was an incredible, they tackled them with one second left.

If you ran one more yard, then it's over. You can't know how much time is left, of course, but it's just terrible luck.

Honestly, my glasses half empty take on this is if they had kicked the touchback man tie and they're at the 35 yard line. The Jags would have needed, what, like a 20-yard completion to get enough room for Cam Little?

They probably would have gotten it. You know what?

It was just like, the Eagles right now, everything is coming up a loss. It's a very difficult time. But the best part is, is like, I'm looking at the division, and the fighting Jameis Winstons are just running away with this thing. 8-9 might win this thing the way everybody's playing, as bad as the Cowboys look, too.

So all hope is never lost for Philadelphia.

This feels like rock bottom, and I hope it is because it better not be the next game.

But it's not like the season is over.

It really is negative right now, and I know Sirianni's getting torn apart.

Fine. At least he owned it, and the season is not over.

Let's get out of this weekend if you're the NFC East. A winless situation between the Cowboys, the tie, and then that game for the Eagles. Speaking of the Cowboys and the Eagles, would you look at that crew?

Yeah, we're going to Philly.

Yeah.

Let's go to Philly. Kyle, you get to take the train. We're going to fly across country.

The season is not over.

No, it is not. This is a road show, GMFB style. This is in a couple weeks.

Kyle just bellowing from Buffalo Hills basement about how we're going to be in Philly.

We're going to have friends there, too.

Okay, so come hang with us down by the stadium, okay? This is happening tonight, though.

Bills, Rams, and there's all different.

Sorts of ways you can watch this game tonight, and there's a new special one that we got to talk about next on GMFB. Chase Daniel, friend of the show, coming on to talk about one of your options alongside the game, Joe Buck, the Manicast, and then what the heck is.

Chase Daniel up to? Let's find out.

Good morning, football.

Let's welcome in front of our show, former NFL quarterback, and.

Now Chase Daniel, part of the specialty alt cast.

Hey!

What's going on, guys? Good to see you guys. Good to see you.

All right, Chase, Monday Night Football playbook. It's you, Field Gates, Louis Riddick, Seth Walder.

Great group. Who are you speaking to when.

These guys turn the channel to NFL Network? Who's going to love this type of information when they watch these games?

Yeah, I think you saw some of the promo there.

Nice job reading that and just showing what we really want to do with this alt cast.

And, you know, it's like people are like, oh, there's another alt cast.

There's another.

We're trying to make the fans smarter. And quite honestly, I would say we don't want to put any fan into one bucket.

I feel like we would.

surprise everyone with the amount of knowledge that we're going to bring.

So the fan to me is everyone.

If you want to get smarter, if you want to dive deep into the weeds of analytical, but also still have a quarterback and a defensive mind and Seth, which is running next-gen stats to sort of Bit that storyline together. We're still going to have storylines of the game. It's still going to be Josh Allen. So there'll be Matthew Stafford to the last two MVP MVPs. And so we're just doing it in a way. We're going to dive into personnel groupings. Why do you know the Rams run more 13 personnel than everyone else? Why do the Rams also run more 11 personnel than everyone else? We're going to talk about coaching decisions. It's just going to be a little bit of a deeper dive. And you saw all those cool things on the screen. You're going to

be tracking miles per hour run. You're going to be tracking formations. And we're just going to build our narrative off of those really next level, next gen stats.

This is really cool, Chase.

I know there's a big audience for this type of thing and you're a perfect person to do it. So that point you mentioned, great way to dig in tonight. You got Josh Allen, you got Matthew Stafford. What is something that we may learn or see about those two quarterbacks in this type of broadcast?

Yeah, so a lot of people don't understand what really goes into the next level of quarterbacking. And also like you want to get into and we want to get into.

The nitty gritty of what we're going to see tonight.

Like a lot of people don't understand Josh Allen escaping to his right. versus his left, he's a completely different guy. So how are the Rams going to have this pass rush plan?

Manti knows what I'm talking about. You have to keep him inside the pocket.

A lot of people don't understand that the Buffalo Bills are under center 56% of the time. Well, Chase, what does that mean? Well, it means that they feel like they can run their offense a little better. They like outside zone. They like duo. We're going to break down the type of runs that they want. We're going to break down multiple different third down.

Matchups like Puka Nakua.

Is absolutely crushing man and zone. He's like the top five guys in the past 20 years versus man coverage and zone coverage. Okay, that's great, Chase. Well, what type of routes does he run? Well, he's running a lot of crossing routes. He's running a lot of intermediate corner routes. He's running a lot of sit routes versus zone. And so I just think every facet of it, including Aaron Donald, I think Aaron Donald is going to be a massive part of their plan to keep Josh Allen in the pocket.

So We're going to be diving into all of those intricate storylines, but also making it very digestible for viewers.

Chase, one thing that Josh Allen and Matthew Stafford have in common is they both won MVP. This year, Brock Purdy leads the league with 13 touchdown passes to go along with only two interceptions as his Niners remain undefeated.

I know it's early, but do you think.

This type of performance puts him in that type.

Of category right now? Oh, he's the MVP, without a doubt, Manti.

Like, you look at the first four games of the year, he wasn't even sacked. He wasn't touched. Last night, the Seahawks were able to pressure him at a 60% rate, sacked him multiple times. There were some turnovers and takeaways. If you look at really the first two and a half, two and three quarters, quarters of the game like he wasn't really good they couldn't really do anything it was the turnovers from the Seahawks that kept him in the game I think they had scoring drives of 18 yards 11 yards and they fell on a fumble Horton did in the end zone but if you really dive deep and you look at the last half of the third quarter and then the fourth quarter he really came a He started using his legs more. You see right here

on the two-point conversion, which was a massive play, that deep ball down the right sideline to Mike Evans.

I think Mike Evans has.

Really, really unlocked him in terms of trying to figure out how to throw the football down the field a little bit more. Mike Evans doesn't need separations. Mike Evans doesn't is a future Hall of Famer. So you have that, you have Kittle, you have CMC going. I mean, this Brock Purdy team, man, they look really, really good.

Chase, this is Sam Macho. Good to see you again. Hey, you said earlier that you're going to help make the fans smarter.

Man, make us smarter, Chase. What happened in that Commanders and Giants game? End of game, overtime. You played 14 years in the league, won a Super Bowl. We played together in Chicago. So make us smarter. What should happen in that game? I'm completely flabbergasted. Look at the lack of organization and knowing of what is going on on the field.

The lack of situational awareness from the coaching staff, from the players, it falls on everyone. You should be snapping this football with 30 seconds left, running it, not throwing it to stop the clock and then getting up and spiking it at four seconds. When they ran this play, I mean, they're not even out of the huddle. There's 25 seconds left. And then you have multiple personnel groupings.

You have three tight ends to the left. You're trying to run this like spider five wide banana that John Gruden had.

You should be snapping the ball at 25 seconds, guys.

It's 12 seconds when they snap the football.

And then watch everyone here on this screen.

No one is in the hurry like no one had any idea what was going on then the people are yelling from it then jay daniels gets up and it's just it's such a bad look i mean you can talk about nick sirianni too that's for another day but the situational football is not great if i don't hear.

A spider five wide banana on monday night football playbook chase we're doing.

It wrong all right everybody Watch it tonight on NFL Network.

It's called Monday Night Football Playbook, and that guy's on it with a bunch of.

Our friends at GMFB.

See you later.

Well done, Chase. Bye, guys.
