Good Morning Football is a production of the NFL in partnership with iHeartRadio.

Good morning, football. Uh-huh.

Welcome inside. Good morning, football, everybody. Presented by Old Trapper Beef Jerky. It's Wednesday, October 21st. Jamie Erdahl, Manti Teo, Willie Colon at the breakfast table here in Los Angeles. But we got a crew hanging out in New York City during the fall annual league meeting for the NFL. And with that, we want to welcome in Mike Garofalo, Ian Rappaport, and Judy Batista. A lot of information to get to coming out of these league meetings. Oftentimes, it's votes about Super Bowls and rule changes and whatnot. But this time it goes very, very intense and serious with the news that emerged earlier this week about Jalen Hurts because now medical decision-making is being called into question. So, guys,

can you update us on what the latest is with the Eagles, the league, and the quarterback?

And, of course, for NFL officials being available yesterday, including Dr. Alan Sills, the NFL's chief medical officer, including Jeff Miller. the NFL's executive with a focus on health and safety. This was one of the big topics in a very fiery, passionate press conference defending the role of doctors and how they handle NFL players as it relates to injuries, essentially saying that doctors are always going to put medical first and playing second. They supported the NFL did the way the Philadelphia Eagles handled Jalen Hurts' situation as he was dealing with blood clots over in London, detailing how he went to the Cleveland Clinic.

He was checked out.

He was cleared.

They came back.

The Eagles then, of course, we know, did more tests and found multiple blood clots that went into his lungs. And the Eagles worked, guys, in concert with the NFL this entire way, the entire 72 hours or so, which makes sense that the NFL is supporting the way the Philadelphia Eagles have handled things. And that is where we were left with the NFL officials saying the Eagles acted properly.

lashing out at some of the reporting that happened over the last week or so and trying to move forward there. Meanwhile, Mike, the NFLPA stepped in and said maybe not so fast.

Yes, the NFL Players Association releasing a statement last night. If we could throw up the statement there so you guys can read it while we dig into this. This is a really fascinating one because the NFLPA, the union, works on behalf of the players. Now, through this whole process, there have been joint statements from the Eagles and Jalen Hurts' agent, Nicole Lynn, and usually a lot of times the agent's working with the PA.

So this is going to be... How's this going to work?

And we need to hear from Jalen Hurts at some point for where he is on this whole thing, because the PA is not just doing this for Hurts. I mean, this is all their players that they're doing this for, because even if they don't believe that something nefarious happened here, that the Eagles said, well, this is a life threatening situation, but you have to play anyway. Like nobody really believes that that's the case, but there's a process for handling the health and safety of the players and And they want to make sure that it was followed in this case and moving forward because part of this is, I don't know that a lot of us knew what.

A superficial blood clot was.

We had heard previously players weren't playing because of blood clots, which is more the deep vein thrombosis that he has right now. You have to take blood thinners and then you can't play a contact sport when that happens. But a superficial blood clot is... And we did ask Alan Sills about this yesterday. Is this something that ordinarily a player would be cleared for and can play through? And he didn't give a straight answer because there's always extenuating circumstances when it comes to that. But it sounds like they believe that that is something that superficial on the top of your skin, not.

Deep into the veins, you can play through.

There was a former player here yesterday who played in. what Sills called the dark ages of the NFL, who said, yeah, a bunch of us had those and we played through them and there were no compromised health situations. But in this case, there were. So the NFLPA wants to make sure that everything was followed.

How did we get there? And did we make the right decisions? AMY GOODMAN.

Just to go back to Dr. Seals, who, first of all, was as angry as I have ever seen him about the coverage of this and the speculation about how it was handled and the questioning of the ethics of the medical people who were working with Jalen Hurts. He made it clear— Jalen Hurts also has autonomy in this, so any of the principals could have pump the brakes on him playing. Certainly, the doctors could have said, you can't play, you're done.

Jalen Hurts could have said, I'm not comfortable with this, I'm not going to play. And, of course, the team could have said, we're not comfortable with this. They all went forward, and he played. And, actually, he played fairly well, given what we now know and what has transpired since then. Certainly, the fact that the NFLPA now wants to look into this is— injecting a bit more drama into what has already been a dramatic situation, because the league considers this case closed, right? They are satisfied with how the Eagles and how all of the doctors have handled it. We do need more answers, and it would certainly help to hear from more of the principals involved.

I'm not sure we're going to.

Hear from all of the principals involved in a timely fashion, because we haven't heard from them yet. And that probably would have cleared some things up if we had heard details of how things transpired and what kind of care he was receiving. Maybe we would not have gotten to this point. But hopefully we get a few more answers so we can wrap this up. And, of course, then we can turn our attention to the fact that we hope Jalen Hurts gets well Let's turn our attention to the other business at hand at the league meeting. One of the big pieces of news that came out yesterday is Peter O'Reilly, the league executive in charge of international games, said that the league will probably want to play 10

international games next season. They are playing nine this season. That nine is the most they have ever played. Ten would obviously be the most they've ever played. And ten is also the most they are allowed to play under the current CBA with the players. So, to go beyond ten— They would need to negotiate with the players. Certainly, it is expected that when the league and the union sit down to negotiate a new CBA, that the league will be pushing to play a 16-game international slate. Every team would play one international game.

Every season.

As for the international game that's coming up in a few days in Paris, Peter O'Reilly said the league has, despite the civil unrest that's been going on in Paris over the last few weeks, that the NFL never thought about postponing that game or moving the game. It is all systems go. The NFL, of course, has a huge security operation, and it will be especially vigilant this weekend with the game in Paris. But everything is going ahead as scheduled in Paris this weekend.

Well, fans are gifted a great matchup, both teams coming off a win that is Sunday morning of Week 7. But Week 7 begins tomorrow night, so let's make sure we're of the understanding for all players involved, injuries, and those who are still on teams. Let's start with the New York Giants team nearby you guys.

The New York Giants shaking up things in their running back room, releasing Najee Harris yesterday. And the running back room has been, no doubt, a topic of conversation. Cam Scadaboo, very famously last week, did not get carries after being the starting running back. for several weeks into the season, being the most productive running back. Some fumbles ended up being pushed to the side. Najee Harris got a little bit of run, as did some others. He was then released as the Giants continued to shake up their running back room. Meanwhile, Mike, we're still waiting on news of the Giants' starting quarterback. Is it going to be J.J.

McCarthy?

Is it going to be Jameis Winston? They practiced today at 1. Perhaps more information coming, but we will get to that when we get to it.

Meantime, the Rams having to figure out who is going to kick in place of Blake Grupe, one of many injuries suffered on Sunday. Grupe only had, what, half a game as the Rams kicker. Now it'll be Brandon McManus moving forward, the veteran now in his 13th NFL season, if I'm recalling correctly. He went up against Matt Prater, another veteran in a workout yesterday.

The Rams opting to go with McManus. Kicking highlights. Kicking highlights. Let's talk long enough that we have to show all of them.

Let's see.

You think this one's good? Probably, right? Probably. Split it right down the middle. Brandon McManus, the Rams, hoping he does plenty of that.

All right.

Ian?

Oh.

Mike Evans.

Yeah, let's talk about Mike Evans.

Mike Evans, yes. No, I got it.

Let's talk about Mike Evans and the San Francisco 49ers. Avoided major injury.

You hate to see Achilles out.

That's what you never want to see. This is Achilles tendonitis.

It's not a full tear.

It's something that the San Francisco 49ers are going to have to monitor. They believe that Mike Evans will be able to play the next week's game. But obviously, we're going to continue to keep keeping track of this one moving.

49ers, no strangers to Achilles tendonitis. Christian McCaffrey was dealing with that a couple of years ago.

Remember that one?

That was an issue for them. So it is a painful condition, and something has to be managed. They're hopeful Mike Evans will be able to.

Manage it, Jamie.

Yeah, the word nagging and the Achilles, I feel like should never go hand in hand, and that must be very uncomfortable for those guys. Judy, Mike G, Rap Sheet, thank you so much. We'll get back to you if anything changes. This guy's happy about that news from Mike Evans, at least that it's not a tear, obviously, that it's just Achilles tendonitis. San Francisco 49ers are rolling. Vikings coming off a bye. And the Kansas City Chiefs also have already had their bye. What do those three teams have in common? They all have zeros next to the amount of wins they have this season. These are their opponents for Week 7. Niners, Falcons, Colts at the Vikings. Chiefs going to Seattle. Kenneth Walker III going up against his

former team. I ask you guys this. Which undefeated team remaining in the NFL intrigues you the most right now?

I'm going to go with the Minnesota Vikings. I like what the 49ers have. Obviously, they need Mike Evans back because you saw the drop in the production offensively when he got hurt going into halftime. I'm so happy that these guys are back. A lot of people don't want to see them succeed. I love that the Chiefs are back to being worthwhile. Shout out to Kenneth Walker. But the Vikings intrigued me because of this. They have the best defense in not only the division, in the entire NFL.

They have possibly the best.

Wide receiver room with Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison. They have a really good run game, Kevin O'Connell. The biggest question mark is Kyler Murray. Now, Kyler in last and two weeks ago game against the Saints showed spurts and.

Bright spots of what could be.

So it is intriguing to me that you have all of these things over there in Minnesota. You have everything's ready to go. You just need the guy to drive the ship and Kyler Murray. There's so much expectation and pressure on this guy that I hope that he's able to get back into his group a little bit. Remember, he didn't play a lot the past year, right? So he's there's some Feeling out that he's been doing hopefully this bye week, I was able to help him out a little bit.

So I got the Minnesota Vikings.

It intrigued me yesterday having Adam Thielen on the show. He fully admitted. He's like, anybody that thinks that you're going to hit the ground running after training camp is unrealistic. It takes time. So maybe that's he was implying that that's what's coming for Kyler.

Yeah, it's the Kansas City Chiefs, right?

The bottom line going into the season, there's so much question about The state of Patrick Mahomes, his knee, will he go back to being the MVP style quarterback? They even questioned Andy Lee, what are you going to do with this receiving core? Can you be able to light it up? There's so much question about this offense.

And then a.

Man walked into Kansas City by the name of Kenneth Walker, Super Bowl MVP to be exact.

Nevertheless, man, he has stabilized his offense.

He has taken the bricks off of Patrick Mahomes' shoulders now because they have not only a run game.

But the Chiefs got the edge back. You understand, when the Chiefs.

Were humming at a high level, they had a run game. And credit Eric Biennium. He doesn't get enough credit, man. When you see the alignment and the way they play football, Patrick Mahomes is not only being able to start the season by not only trusting his legs, but trusting the run game. They've been eating it up in between the 20s, and they're effective in the red zone as well.

So, yeah, the Chiefs. They may be back.

Seahawks better be careful, too. If they drop this game and you consider the fact that this team sits in their division, that is going to be an upward climb for them because they still have to play once more as well. All right, Manti, I think I know where you will go with this question, but what if I challenge you to pick a different unit?

Challenge!

If I say which undefeated team, unless you want to go more on the Vikings defense.

Okay, go ahead.

Which undefeated team has the best unit?

The best unit.

So we're talking about best running back room, best all-line.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

You already know where I was going to go. I'll pivot a little bit.

You mentioned it. Kenneth Walker III.

Nice.

Probably the best free agents addition this year. I mean, you got to see what he's been able to do with Patrick Mahomes and that offense.

Eric Bien-Ami, knowing what.

He did over there in Chicago for the Chicago Bears last year in that backfield. Now you pair him up with the Super Bowl or... current Super Bowl MVP. The guy is running all over everybody. And he's got the opportunity to be the lead back. In Seattle, he's always splitting carries with everybody. And it's just like, give him the opportunity to show what he can do, what he did at Michigan State, running over everybody. He has been the best thing for Patrick Mahomes. He's the reason why.

I think he was your secret sauce guy? Whose secret sauce was he?

Mine.

Yours, Jamie?

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

He's not only the secret sauce, but he's the best unit.

The running back room is really one guy, and it's Kenneth Walker.

Interestingly about Kenneth Walker III, it's just coming back into my memory. Part of his story involves being in high school. He actually suffered from blood clots in his lungs, and he had to be sat down for weeks at a time. He was in the hospital. He was breathless. As a high school football player, he thought he was never going to play again. He obviously was dealt with, and he received treatment, and he went on to have, as you said, won the Doak Walker at Michigan State and to Seattle, but just with the news right now.

Best unit.

Yes, that's a good one. That's a good one. Oh, here we go.

The best unit in football is the San Francisco 49ers offensive line.

Okay.

Oh, Trent Williams.

Now you know I was going to go with the big fellas.

Bottom line, if you're going to consider the San Francisco 49ers offensive Ferrari, you got to look at the engine. And the engine is this offensive line. You got to understand, last season they averaged.

3.8 on the ground.

Now they're averaging 5.1 the first couple weeks.

No sacks.

They only have 12 pressures on the season. This offensive line is humming at a high level.

And as much as you want to talk about Brock.

Purdy and all these things and George Kettle in the motion orbit, all these things that Kyle Shannon is able to do with this office, they cannot do it without the front five and Trent Williams. I love this unit because not only are they physical, they're nasty, but they want the smoke.

So the best unit in football, office line.

Hooney.

Poonie is a monster.

I swear on one of the touchdowns that Christian McCaffrey scored, Trent Williams just grabbed someone's shoulder pads and laid him down. He was just like, just lay down and be better for you. And then CMC walked in.

Christian wasn't touched on one of those.

That's what I'm saying.

I'm going to go back. I feel like I'm in your way.

All right, pick a player from one of these undefeated teams and then suggest what they should be for Halloween next weekend, Manti. Although it's not next weekend, we were just talking about how there's already parties starting.

Yes, there are.

Go ahead.

I'm so glad you challenged me, Jamie, because I just realized that if I would have stayed the.

Same, it would have been the same team.

Because the guy that I would have loved to see in the Halloween costume, because it has to be fitting, right? Andrew Van Ginkle with the hair as Thor.

Good.

It has to also have remnants of a Viking.

Yes.

It's just perfect.

Yes. It's just perfect.

And then Thor has this thing where he puts his hand out and the hammer comes to him. For some reason, if you run a little flare screen to Andrew Van Ginkle's side, That ball just, he just intercepts the ball. I don't know why people could continue to run those orbit screens that you're talking about, Willie, to this man's side, because he always intercepts the ball. So Jamie, thank you for having me audible, because I just realized that I was just, I've been pro Vikings, guys.

I get it. You're a man obsessed with the Vikings defense.

Andrew Van Ginkle.

Yeah.

Thor. Fitting I wish I knew.

Like the Marvel Universe a lot better because I feel like they could just go the whole defense could be different guys Yeah, yeah.

Yeah.

I want Harrison Smith to be someone I'm gonna.

Stay in the Marvel Universe with you man.

Okay, but they're all rocks.

I He could be Killmonger from Black Panther. Played by Michael B. Jordan.

Nice.

Look at that. Fred Warner.

And you gotta understand, Fred Warner's not only a dog, but he's a methodical dog, right?

He sees the ball before it's snapped. He knows where to go. He's a hitting machine. Have you seen Black Panther, Jamie?

No.

It's awesome.

Oh, great.

Well, now you got homework. Now you got some homework to do. Willie, that is so good. And he's the man.

The Marvel movies intimidate me so much, much the way that an undefeated team would in the NFL. Like, they are produced a certain order, but then you're supposed to watch them in a different order. And just, like, it's exhausting. I can't keep up with those guys.

So, Jamie, there's a scene where Killmonger is fighting T'Challa. Yeah. And he's over there, and he's like... Played by Chad with both of his no-lookers.

Oh, yes.

And he says, is this your king after he beats up T'Challa? Like, that's Fred Warner.

Yeah. Like, Fred Warner just goes... He just holds your quarterback. Is this your king?

Is this your king?

Is this your king?

Ha, ha, ha, ha.

He's been to the refs this past weekend. He's like, is this your flag? He's like, no, no, no, no.

Okay, wait, I got one. Adlib, Tony Stark, Travis Kelsey.

We don't have to answer that.

I tried.

I tried.

He's, like, funny, and he's, like, kind of quirky, and he's, like, the ladies love him.

I can roll with it.

That's right.

That's right.

Get us out of here. We're going to Philadelphia. We're going to Philadelphia. That's the crew hanging. Willie's not invited. Get your tickets. They're online. Willie's not coming. Seth, Irv, Nancy, Kyle, and myself. And Mike Chief. Coming up on our show, though, Willie and I will be fighting the whole time. We've got another showdown in studio. It's me against Willie. No.

You picked a fight, Will.

You tell me I have a bad idea on live television, and I'm going to smack you. Manti and Willie are going to play Buzz Off, and we're going to keep it clean, guys.

Yes.

That's not the only game we're going to play. We have Faster Than New York Minute.

Ooh, funny.

Heads West once again. Five rapid questions against the clock. In-N-Out is coming right up on Good Morning Football. I love you, Willie. Love you back.

Good morning, football.

All right, let's play again. In and out, 60 seconds on the clock. Manti goes first, then Willie, then I'm going to go. We have five questions per 60 seconds, so keep it clean, keep it quick. Manti, ready to roll?

I'm ready to roll.

60 seconds, let's go. What's been a pleasant surprise in the NFL this season?

That the Chiefs are back. That's been a pleasant surprise. I didn't have them in the playoffs.

I didn't have them beating the Broncos in week one.

They've been the best pleasant.

Surprise for me.

Okay.

Who has been the most exciting player through six weeks?

Ooh, most exciting player through six weeks.

Ah, I would say... Josh Allen.

Josh Allen does everything, has done everything for them.

I go Josh Allen. All right, who is the greatest linebacker.

Of all time?

Of all time? Ooh, Ray Lewis.

Ray Lewis is the greatest linebacker of all time. He's somebody that I try to model my game after. His intensity, his leadership, Ray Lewis.

What's your go-to cereal?

Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Let that thing just cook a little bit, eat it. Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

Better Disney movie, Moana or Lion King.

Lion King is the goat.

I love Moana, but Lion King, you can learn so many different things. And the best thing about Lion King is as a father now, it means different.

Yeah.

When I watch that as a kid, Lion King.

Well done.

Yeah. That's in and out right there, Willie. That's in and out. Very good. We in and out of there.

Willie, ready?

I don't feel like I'm ready, but I'm going to get ready. You're ready.

There's no wrong answers. That's a beautiful part of it.

That's true.

Let's ride.

We'll see, I guess. Best team in the AFC right now is who?

Oh, the best team in the NFC or AFC?

AFC.

Oh, that would be the Buffalo Bills. The way they performed Monday night.

Against the Rams, going to, Josh Allen versus Matthew Stafford in.

The shootout was impressive. It took a peanut punch, but it didn't happen. Nevertheless, Buffalo Bills.

Best offensive lineman in the league right now is who?

Ooh.

Best offense lineman right now? I'm going to say Trent Williams, man. Trent Williams is easy. I think second is Tristan Moore. He's been playing really good for the Bucs.

Very good. Favorite road city to visit when you played.

In the league?

Oh, Road City?

Yeah. I love playing in Baltimore. Not only because of the rivalry. Love crab dip.

Totally.

The whole atmosphere.

Best ice cream topping. You got 15 seconds. Two questions left.

Oh, I'm going to go caramel and fudge. That's it.

Double.

Layered up.

TV series with the most satisfying ending. Kyle and I were fighting about this.

Yeah, I don't know. I guess Vikings. I ain't got it. I don't watch a lot of TV. Breaking Bad? No, I've never seen it.

Sopranos?

No, that was horrible.

Okay, there you go. At least we know which one is not going to be his answer.

All right, Jamie, let's go.

I can't win with Willie today.

Okay.

I got you, Jamie. Number one. You ready?

Sure.

Who would you say is the face of the NFL right now?

Who is the face of the NFL right now?

I'm going to.

Do it.

No.

Brock Purdy.

Oh, nice.

As a Vikings fan, which is better, Soldier Field or Lambeau Field?

Better how?

Better?

You determine, Jay.

I'll go with Lambeau Field. The beer is great. The cheese is good. And the Lambeau Leap is fun to watch, especially if they have a pick six and the Vikings get to do it.

Okay.

Which player gives the best postgame interviews?

Did you guys see that one from that goalie from the Calgary NHL team recently? It was really good. Anyways, player with the best postgame interview right now. Josh Allen gives a good one. He really does. He had a nice couple answers with Tracy the other day.

What's one piece of technology you can't live without?

14 seconds.

One piece of technology I can't live without, the snooze button on my alarm clock.

Better taste, sweet or sour?

My mouth waters when anybody says sour candy.

That's an easy one.

Sour candy. Sour Skittles, Sour Patch Kids, Sour Punch Straws, Sour Watermelon, Sour Peaches.

Yeah, her little thing is like PhD of sour candy on the bottom thing.

I go, you already knew it was going to be sour. Do you like those Cry Babies?

No, I like those candies that are rough on the outside.

Really?

That kind of turns up your tongue.

Oh, no.

I'll be right back.

Bro.

On a prolific Houston Texans defense, cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. has made a name for himself in the NFL. But the Stingley name goes back three generations in football. Along the way, it's included triumph and tragedy for his family. But the love for the game has never changed.

Dude, it's just crazy watching it, because we was in it live time. Just seeing it again, it feels like the first time watching it all over again.

It's just a proud moment.

The Stingley name is something that's very powerful, and I feel like a lot of people in the football world also respect that name.

My dad was wide receiver, New England Patriots. He was probably one of the better players at his position, for sure.

Wow.

Yeah, that was like, yeah, there was some thunder clapping up in there.

August 12th.

My mom came to me and she said, hey, I have to go. I have to go to California. Your dad's been hurt. OK, well, he should be OK, right? And she said, well, we don't know. He's paralyzed. I'm six years old. I don't know what that word means. They were saying he can't move at all. I didn't think that that was possible until I walked into that hospital.

And I walked up to his bed, and he was laying there, and I said, Dad, get up, because everybody's saying you can't move.

Get up.

He didn't move. The only thing I saw was a tear roll down his face, and my uncle was pulling me off of him. As I'm being pulled off of him, I understood the word paralyzed.

My dad talked about the injury and then life after the injury for my grandpa and.

For my dad.

I just assumed maybe he really didn't want us to play because of what happened. My dad was always saying, hey, man, if you're going to play this game, play the game. Don't go out there and walk on eggshells. So I played. That's old school right there.

Yeah.

Oh, give me that. And it's picked off.

Yeah, he weren't catching me.

We were the Albany Firebirds. We were playing a team from New York, and I got knocked out.

Bam. I was out.

When I got to the hospital, I said, I need to call my dad.

He was like, Derek.

I said, yeah.

He said, are you okay? I said, dad, I'm fine. He said, no, are you standing? And for him to say, are you standing? I know what that meant. And then for me to say, yes, I know he's.

Relieved.

Ah, that's little you. See that face today. When he was two, I saw an athlete first. In our front yard, I would teach Derek everything.

The coaching from my dad early on, everything to me was just fun to do, like, as.

Long as I was with my dad. That's all I wanted.

I would take videos of us doing that, and I would send that to my dad.

He was like, he is extremely gifted.

There you go, boy. That's pretty dope. I remember all of that.

It's just crazy.

Hello.

Hello.

Hello.

My heart is doing this. Derek Stingley Jr.

This is crazy.

All right, now you can go celebrate with everybody.

That's crazy.

When I see Derek with his son, my heart is smiling more than my face is smiling. Because he deserved to know what I felt looking at him at that age.

It changes everything. Like, you're not just living for yourself. You got to make sure your kid is straight. And you'll do anything to do it.

His son, he will be in the NFL.

Because I'm here.

He got to deal with me.

He going to treat my son how he used to treat me, and I'm going to say, don't get soft now.

You got to do it the same way. There's a lot that I took from my dad.

There's a lot that I hold on to that I passed down to Derek that hopefully he can pass down to his son as well, to where my father, his grandfather, his great-grandfather is still alive and well and living on.

We don't doubt that Derek Stingley III, who is that baby you see in the end of that video, will proudly carry on the family name in football in some capacity someday. Willie Colon, cool storytelling. Are all parents at the table? You might know what that feels like.

Well, first of all, you know, when you have kind of a turbulent story like that, man, it's telling that you allow your future generation to play the game of football, right? But I think the most significant part of that piece is if you're going to play the game, play the game. And I think me and Manti can attest to that.

I talk to a lot of young kids, man, and when you Play the game of football is an all-in mentality, not just on the field, but off the field too. So it takes a lot of dedication and sacrifice. But what we just witnessed was a legacy and generation come full circle.

So that's an amazing story.

That's the exact word that came to my mind as I'm watching that piece, Willie, is the word legacy. You start to see the trailblazer in his grandfather and his dad try to live up to those expectations.

And make his dad proud.

And then he has Derek Stingley, his son, and making sure as fathers, it's, I want to give you all I can so that you can live a better life and that you could have more resources and experiences than I had. And that's the best thing as a father for, for any father can do for his son is to give him everything that.

His father gave him, take those lessons, right?

Refine it a little bit and then pass it on. And then it goes from generation to generation. There's, so much beauty in this game. There's also a lot of dark sides to this game. And if you do decide to play this game, to your point, Willie, do it full speed, do it with full heart and understand that, you know, you represent more than just yourself. And I'm very appreciative of the Stingley family. It made me miss my grandfather. He's the one that got me into football.

There's certain fits also in the NFL and Derek Stingley Jr. playing for the Texans when he got drafted. I think his dad felt it too. It felt like the perfect fit. much to the point to the Texans playing the Chargers late last year here. And pretty much every defensive player's parents had a field level suite at this game. They just wanted to be there for their kids. And the Stingleys are right there at most games, if not in Houston, but all over the world as well as the Texans were in London last weekend. Thank you to the Stingley family for sharing that story. There they go.

Fantastic.

Good morning football.

characters included. We're going to play Buzz Off now. Keep your hands hovering over your buzzers. I have a series of questions about the NFL right now. Willie Colon challenging Manti Teo. We are going to play the game where if you know the answer, don't just mess around.

But Jamie, he messed up last time.

I started this segment extremely calm.

He's scarred from the last time. I'm scarred from the last time. Could you let him get away with a lie?

We're here, okay? You took it to a here.

He's like a talking to the girl.

I'm going to answer. I'm going to ask the question. You have an opportunity to get the question right.

Okay.

For two points.

Yes.

I'll just give it a healthy pause and I'll give you multiple choice. You can get one point, two points, one points, no points. Got it.

Got it.

Travis Hunter guys made history in London this past week, including the playoffs. There's four players since the NFL merged back in 1970 to record an interception and a receiving touchdown in a single game. Four guys have done it.

Okay.

Before Travis Hunter did it, who was the last player to do so?

Is it A?

Deion Sanders, B, Keyshawn Johnson, C, Brian Dawkins, or D, Roy Green?

No, I did it first. Go ahead. C, Brian Dawkins.

You are correct, my friend. So Deion never did it, shockingly. Deion never got it done. Keyshawn did it in 1998. Roy Green did it in 1981, but you are correct. Brian Dawkins was the most recent.

To do it. There it goes.

In 2002.

There it goes.

Good one.

Yep.

Oh, look at him.

What's crazy about Brian Dawkins is that even more elite was in that game. He also had a sack.

Oh, wow.

Which is wild.

Oh, I remember this one.

Yeah, week four, 2002. Oh, I remember this one.

You used to watch the Weapon X highlight tape all the time.

Awesome.

Here we go.

Here's the TV. That's crazy. You ran all the way back.

Yeah, yeah.

All right, here we go.

The turfs, too.

Good job, Willie.

Good job, Willie.

One point for Willie.

We're good.

Bryce Young and the Panthers sit atop the NFC South currently. Young has had 250 or more passing yards in each of his last six regular season games, which dates back to last season. That's tied for the second longest streak in Panthers franchise history.

Mm-hmm.

Who holds the Panthers' record for longest streak of games with 250 or more passing yards? Is it A, Kyle Allen, B, Steve Berline, C, Cam Newton, or D, Jake Delon?

I'm going to go with D, Jake Delon, Jamie. That's where I'm going.

That is not correct.

That's okay.

He actually has the fewest.

Oh, interesting. I'm going to go... I'm going to go B, Steve Berlar.

That is not correct either. I get the points then.

Just kidding.

It's Kyle Allen. Who's actually the current Bills backup quarterback. Kyle Allen had seven straight games with 250 or more passing yards back in 2019. This guy's been around.

I know.

He leads.

That's Greg Olsen.

Right.

Allen's leading receiver in that streak was... E.J.

Moore.

What?

Oh, that was a young.

That was when Joe Brady was there.

Isn't that crazy?

Yes.

Oh, my gosh.

Yes.

I love that little nugget.

Tasty little nugget.

A young Christian McCaffrey. Look at him.

Right.

CMC.

Nothing. Yeah, right?

Nothing.

I got to get.

On this thing.

Come on. Let's go.

Kenneth Walker III is second in the NFL.

Yes, he is.

Kenneth Walker III is second in the NFL with 760 scrimmage yards and eight touchdowns this season. He is one of just six players in NFL history with that stat, 750-plus scrimmage yards and eight TDs in the first five games of the season.

Okay.

Okay.

Who was the last player to do this before Kenneth Walker III? I'm holding.

I went.

I'm going to make a personal prediction that no one's going to get this correct.

I'm going to get it correct. A, Priest Holmes.

Dang it, you're right.

Bam!

Bam, bam, bam, bam!

Have some confidence in me.

I don't know.

I thought you were going to be distracted by the other shiny objects in the room here.

31 for the Chiefs.

You are right.

Priest Holmes.

He had 803 scrimmage yards and 10 TDs in the first five games for the Chiefs back in 2002. Made in the 2002 this year.

The spat game. Look at him. Ooh, yeah. Ooh, the dance. That's how I felt right there. Getting that question right. After Jamie said we were going to get it wrong.

I feel like I've got the point for both of us, Willie.

All right, let's move on.

He's so lucky. With the help of.

I feel like he hasn't stopped looking at me. With the help of a 48-yard receiving touchdown against the Patriots, Jets wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. joined his teammate Kenyon Sadiq as two of three rookies with 100-plus receiving yard game this season. So only two Jets rookies have done that. Who is the other non-Jets rookie that has a 100 or more yard receiving game this season? So Kenyon Sadiq has one. Omar Cooper Jr. has won. Those are both Jets.

There is a third guy in the NFL who has it. Is it A, Denzel Boston, B, Caleb Douglas, C, Jeremy Bernard, or D, Carnell Tate?

Jamie, I am going Denzel Boston.

You are incorrect.

What?

I'm going Carnell Tate.

You are correct.

Yeah, boy!

Week four against the Ravens. Colonel Tate at 145 yards.

What?

Yes. He's struggling offensively, Jamie, and he's still at 145.

I actually got them.

Beating the Browns this week.

I'm pretty sure, hopefully, he got our game ball because that was crazy. That was the first Titans rookie to have 100-plus yard receiving game since Traylon Burks did it back in 2022.

That's a Boston that hasn't had 100?

The Titans have been... challenged, but that was a bright spot.

Denzel has to be close, though. Denzel Boston has to be close.

You're right.

He had 95.

95?

See?

Yeah.

Caleb Douglas, 94.

Jeremy Bernard, 87.

Let's move along, Jamie. Willie's winning.

Whatever you say. You're the leader. Caleb Williams looked very comfortable in his first game back from injury. He completed 83.3% of his passes against the Falcons. That's a Bears single game franchise record for any player with at least 35 pass attempts. Which Bears quarterback has the second highest completion percentage?

Go ahead, Willie.

Is it A, Mitchell Trubisky, B, Justin Fields, C, Jay Cutler, or D, Brian Hoyer?

I don't know the answer.

Come on, Willie, I told you.

Yeah, too soon. I'm going to go. I'm going to go Justin Fields.

You are correct.

Yeah!

Stepping on it.

Stepping on it.

Oh, my God.

Stepping on it.

Justin Fields completed 80% of his passes in a week four loss to the Broncos back in 2023. That game still stands as his only game with 300-plus passing yards and a multiple passing TD performance.

DJ Moore. DJ Moore. DJ Moore is just the topic of this thing right now. I love DJ Moore.

Yes.

All right, come on.

Come on. What's the score? 3-1? Yes.

Do you have one?

Yes.

I have one.

Jamie, do I have one?

Jamie, are you... Jamie?

When the host pops up. Saints running back Alvin Kamara reminded us of his greatness on his vintage 31-yard receiving TD against the Giants last week. Kamara led the NFL with eight forced missed tackles in week six. Who leads the NFL in forced? I love this stat. Forced missed tackles this season.

Oh, for two. For two.

Kenneth Walker III.

You are correct.

Tie game.

Is it tied?

I thought it was up.

Well, that counted for two.

Oh, I didn't see that. I went before the question. The options came out.

Kenneth Walker III has 51. Jameer's got 45. Bijan's got only 40. Come on. And Jalen Warren's got 38. Well done.

Are we at the end?

This is the last one? We're tied? Last question?

Let's go. Last question.

Come on, Jamie. Just give me the answer.

Rookie wide receiver Jeremy Bernard hauled in 11 catches for 87 yards in a game-winning overtime touchdown in the Steelers' week six comeback over the Buccaneers. His 11 catches are now the most in a game from Aaron Rodgers by any rookie. Which player did Jeremy Bernard pass to earn this honor? So who was the last rookie to have the most catches from Aaron Rodgers? Make sense?

Yes, makes sense.

Is it A, Devontae Adams, B, Marquez Valdez-Scantling, C, Randall Cobb, or D, Romeo Dobbs?

You're first.

You're first.

Jamie.

Jamie.

I'm not giving you anything.

Help me.

You look at me and give.

Me a wink if it's A. Sneeze if it's B. Stop your feet if it's C.

Yell if it's D. Do something. Okay. Football game.

City on your back.

Show up, Willie. Mix it five.

I'm going B. Marcus Valdel, Skidley.

I wish so badly that that was correct for you.

Hey, I still got to get this right, though. Don't panic yet. Don't panic yet.

It's hard for me not to look at A and not go with A.

Randall Caldwell plays special teams. Romeo Dobbs, I'm not too sure. I'm going to go A, Devontae, Adam, Jamie.

Look at me.

Look at me. Look at me, Jamie. A, isn't it?

It's coming back to Willie for another chance.

Oh, gosh.

What? We got a rally.

We got a 50-50 right now?

Yep.

All right.

This is the deal, okay? If you get it wrong, I win. You understand? Because there's only one option left.

That is how that works.

Pressure on you, Willie. Pressure on you. Can I phone a friend? You got a phone?

Help me.

Out.

This is all I got.

No, no, no.

I don't want you to phone nobody.

Willie, answer the question.

I'm going to go D.

Ding, ding!

You got it.

Oh!

Ah, ah, ah, ah! Woo!

Come on, friend! Come on, pick.

Up the phones and deliver!

Well done, Willie. He had eight seconds.

Thank you, America!

Yes! I'm leaving! Get that man.

How did we get into this mess?

It seems we are made to suffer.

It's our lot in life. Where do you think you're going?

You're going to the Super Bowl?

We are going to the Super Bowl?

Well, now that you ask, I am ready for some football.

ESPN, Lucasfilm, Disney and the NFL presents a real-time animated alternate cast telecast of Super Bowl 61 set in the Star Wars galaxy and it features characters from across the Lucasfilm franchise giving fans of all ages a new way to experience ESPN's first ever Super Bowl production. Star Wars Fun Day Football will stream live on Disney Plus and the ESPN app and it'll air on Disney Channel and Disney XD, in addition to that, on Sunday, February 14th, 2027.

Of course, you a Super Star Wars guy? Are you a Super Bowl guy, Willie?

Yeah, he is.

He won one. Are you a Star Wars guy?

To be honest, no.

But I know about Chewbacca and Han Solo and the whole gang. Good.

Did you see the one, the Darth Maul one?

Oh, yeah.

The red-faced guy.

Where is he from? He's on a bad team. He's on a bad team. Yeah.

The most iconic scene is when he has one lightsaber. You know, lightsabers only use you once. One lightsaber comes up this way, and the other one goes up that way, and you start to swing it like he's doing a fire knife dance, bro. That was my all-time favorite.

It's like having a pass game and a run game.

You know what I mean?

The saber comes out from each other.

Manti just coughed in my face.

I totally didn't hear anything past that.

I'm still flustered.

I was into it until he coughed right in my mouth. It was actually a little much for me, Jamie.

There's just some things that people witness on television. You're like, no, that didn't happen.

Let's keep it moving. My bad. My bad.

Kyle Brandt's going to be back tomorrow from Paris. He'll be on GMFB. But until then, get all the latest news from around the league on NFL Total Access right here at NFL Network at noon Eastern. See you tomorrow.
