And then there were three undefeated teams. But is anyone here really that good? Coming up on the NFL Report, we'll try to make sense of the first month of the season.
We'll also try to make sense of Sunday's injuries. It is a long list.
The latest on these big names as we work towards week five and a Monday night preview to close out week four ahead of an emotional night tonight in New Orleans.
It is next. On the NFL Report. How is it already almost week five? I don't know.
Good to be back in the studio in Los Angeles. We're presented by Nationwide. My name is Andrew Siciliano. Coming up, Scott Hanson is here, and we'll have the conversation. Are there any great teams through the first month of the year? The answer might be no. Let's do our headlines here, our big news, our latest headlines. What is news to me as we look back on yesterday's games? Lamar Jackson's status for Sunday night, and it's a Sunday night game this week for the Ravens, is very much up in the air. Jackson missed the second half of that Ravens win over the Titans yesterday with a sprained ankle. It did not look good here late in the second quarter when it happened. Lamar responded to a 12th Tweet of
the injury, the video, later in the afternoon with an ouch.
Here's Jesse Minner today.
We're still gathering a lot of the information and the imaging and things like that. Just dealing with a little bit of an ankle, and we'll kind of see where that shakes out. Full trust and confidence in him that when it's ready to roll, that we'll roll and go from there. Irrespective of Sunday, are you able to say whether or not it's a long-term injury or a shorter-term thing?
I really don't think it's going to be crazy long-term, but.
We'll see what happens.
Ravens are in Atlanta on Sunday night. Jamar Chase, meantime, in Cincinnati, is in concussion protocol. Really ugly play here. It's a blatant face mask. They called that, and then there's a shot to the head. And Chase was done for the day. Bengals are in Miami. They're 2-2, the Bengals are, coming up on Sunday afternoon. Saquon Barkley has a hamstring. Nick Sirianni would not say on Monday any update on Barkley's status. Remember, he's wearing the cowboy collar now, so there's the neck issue from the stinger a couple of weeks ago. Now a hammy as the Eagles get ready to go to London to face the Jaguars. They're going to fly out on Friday. Friday, evidently, they're taking the Rams. travel plans as they head to Tottenham. Denver
injury news. Probably a little bit better on Monday than might have been expected on Sunday evening. The Broncos, according to Ian Rappaport, say that Pat Sertan and Pat Bryant, the two Pats, got their MRIs today and they have avoided worst-case scenarios on both injuries. They are ankle injuries and they are expected to be short-term injuries. injuries there, which is good news, certainly for the Broncos who lost to the 49ers. I mentioned it's a long list. Kyle Juszczyk avoided a serious injury as well for the 49ers.
For Marcus Mariota, it is an MCL. Dan Quinn says it's the same MCL injury that he had a couple of months ago. Tee Higgins is out with an abductor injury. He is day-to-day. The bad one there is Edrin Cooper, the linebacker for the Packers. He is done for at least this season. with an Achilles injury. In Washington, as mentioned, Dan Quinn with that Mariota injury. They are hoping to get Jaden Daniels back in the lineup coming up this Sunday against the Giants. Washington was in London on Sunday.
Mariota's not going to be able to go. If it's not Jaden Daniels, then it's going to be Ethan Kaliak-Manis, the rookie out of Rutgers, who finished that game at Tottenham.
Aaron Donald. Probably back on Monday.
A week from tonight, the Rams will close out week five, hosting the Bills at SoFi Stadium. Sean McVay said the hope is Donald will play. He sat out yesterday's game in Philadelphia. Big Rams win with a back injury. Ben Johnson has already made up his mind. It is going to be Tyson Bajan at quarterback this coming Sunday, one o'clock Eastern time when the bears go to Lambeau to face the Packers. He made that announcement earlier today on the radio with friend of the program, Jeff Joniak. Johnson, however, is still a bit concerned about Bajan's ball security.
When you haven't played a ton of football in a while, uh, he certainly understands how important it is to team success, but at the same time, we don't want him to lose his aggressiveness level either. We had some opportunities for some big plays down the field that he didn't pull the trigger on also, and so there's a balancing act there.
It's something that we'll be able to talk to him about, review the tape, and learn from and move on from, but he certainly is conscious about how important it is.
To give our guys a chance, give.
Them good, accurate balls, and keep it moving from there, but He made a lot of really good decisions throughout that game. I thought the operation was really smooth and really clean, and I think his teammates really responded to him being out there.
Caleb Williams, by the way, officially ruled out for Week 5 already. All right, let's get to the highlights. Two undefeated teams, 3-0, 3-0. The Chiefs, the Raiders, what a game this was in Vegas, and what a day Kenneth Walker III had.
This is his second touchdown of the day. He ran for $ 1.
77.
He leads the NFL with 5.37 seconds. And the Chiefs had a big lead fourth quarter. But back comes Kirk Cousins. Look at the elusiveness. Elite elusiveness to Brock Bowers for a touchdown. And this is still somehow a game. Raiders get the ball back. Look at the clock. Ten seconds.
Midfield. Try to set up a field goal, but no.
Nope.
Xavier Nwankpa with the pick.
Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs go to 4-0. Obviously, we're 4-0.
That's where we wanted to be at going into the bye. But now how can we learn from these first four weeks in this bye week to be better when we come back out? We'll have a tough stretch going into the Chargers and then going up, I think, to Seattle and then Denver. So we'll be able to really test who we are. And so now it's about kind of getting better throughout this bye week. Obviously, you take time for yourself, but you get better and watch the film so you can be a better team on the other side of it. But I think we had a great start.
Now it's about how we continue and how we finish.

This guy wearing orange. Scott Hansen's in orange today, friends.
A little orange, you know, there's a tie, there's a double tie here, double orange, and people can Google what that's all about.
The Bronx are 3-1 and SU won it over time, but that was not the story of the weekend.
No, not necessarily.
I'll tell you what.
How about a little bombast and hyperbole to begin our.
Are you saying you're bombastic or occasionally hyperbole?
I'm about to be right now.
I got a couple of season-saving catches to go over right now.
The one that's getting all the play right here. Go ahead and roll it.
Efton Chisholm. This is third and long. They had to have a touchdown. A minute and 50 seconds left.
Wow.
I screamed. I jumped off my couch and screamed.
It's too much to say that the New England Patriots season kind of hung in the balance. They lose this game. They're a one-win team. Buffalo has a three-game lead in the division already. Buffalo getting all the love and whatnot. And what are we talking about today? If he doesn't make this one-handed catch here, we're talking about two more turnovers by Drake May.
We're talking about Mike Vrabel losing his poise.
On the sideline, giving him a touchdown ultimately on the 15-yard penalty. The sky would be absolutely falling in New England and everything Efton Chisholm, who has never been on a practice squad.
No, but C.J.
Gardner-Johnson has in his life.
He has a lot recently, actually.
Yeah, I didn't have a big problem with C.J. Gardner-Johnson. I get it.
He needed a 20-minute cooling-off period instead of the 10-minute cooling-off period.
Efton Chisholm. Okay, I got another one. These are season-saving games.
Catches, plural, as in the 17 of them that C.D.
Lamb made. Also, how is he singled up here?
And that was the game winning.
Yeah, exactly.
Texans defense that we were lauding going into the season, not so much anymore. But if the Dallas Cowboys don't have this fourth quarter come from behind game winning drive and credit the DAC, but C.D. was absolutely unstoppable, then you're talking about a one win Dallas Cowboys team with a defense that lets all this stuff up, that loses to a winless.
Texans team and whatnot. The sky would be falling in Dallas. C.D.
Lamb, the game of his life, 189, the touchdown there with 40 seconds left.
11-play, 74-yard drive. Dallas, with the Philadelphia loss, and I know.
The Giants are hanging around there too, but Dallas is probably the leader in the clubhouse to win that division now, based on what we just saw happen yesterday against the Texans.
And the Texans are still... win less.
All right.
Storyline number two.
Yeah.
All three phases.
Explain that.
With a question mark, all three phases. You say, you know, coach speak all three phases. How about all one phases? We got a couple of teams and I'm going right back to Dallas. that have half of the team figured out or a third of the team figured out that Dallas offense is good enough to stand with anyone their defense is as bad as they were last year just about Andrew I know they spent draft capital. They spent free agency money. They still are bottom five in points per game, bottom five in yards per game allowed, bottom five in sacks, bottom five in takeaways. The Dallas defense has got to get something figured out.
I know they've got some players. Jayshon Barham, the rookie out of Michigan, looks pretty good. But they are one-handed right now. on offense. They're on defense.
Meanwhile, if we could use an NFL dating service and pair the Dallas offense with the Minnesota defense.
And special teams, for that matter.
And special teams, for that matter, we'd be good to go because the Minnesota offense is just lost right now. This Minnesota offense, Kyler Murray has not... Granted, he's missed time. Granted, Justin Jefferson has missed time right now. But they are 4-0... winning two of those four games without scoring a touchdown.
Have you seen the meme of.
Will Reichard, their kicker, who's 12 for 12 on the year, by the way, right now, carrying the entire franchise on his shoulders?
And Miles Price as well with the returns. It's all special teams in defense.
It bums me out, though, because you and I love good football. Minnesota, it could be an amazing football team. They're undefeated right now. Dallas could be an amazing football team right now if the other part and the other phase would step up. And they better start doing it here as we're now into the second month of the season.
Which gets us to the final headline. We did Chiefs highlights a little bit ago. They are undefeated.
Yay.
Undefeated.
They make the playoffs.
Yep.
Is there anyone that's any good here?
Like a truly great team where you say, I don't want to play them if I see them.
Well, so before I came out here, I used my favorite AI of choice. I'm not going to name it because no one's paying me to do that. These are the Vegas odds right now to win the Super Bowl. Number one is still the Los Angeles Rams.
Yeah, the two and two Rams.
Number two is the Buffalo Bills, who just lost an ugly game to the New England Patriots. Probably should have lost a couple of weeks ago against the Chargers. Number three is the Baltimore Ravens. We've got the star quarterback in a walking boot. Number four is San Francisco, the substation. Number five is Seattle, and they're capable of going to Washington and losing to backup quarterback Marcus Mario.
Is anyone any good?
That doesn't even mention Jacksonville, Kansas City, who you said, and the Chicago Bears, who you could make an argument for, could be the Super Bowl favorite. The reason I bring this up as a storyline is we love the NFL and we love the fact that any given Sunday and all of that, you would figure a month into the season, we'd have a little shape, a little color on, hey, this is my team.
You could make an argument for eight or nine teams right now as being the best team in the NFL.
And you could also then make the argument that... It's parody, and that's why you love it.
Yeah.
Because you have no idea who's going to win. Not at the quarter poll, because technically it's 17 games.
Good point.
Four games in.
Four games in. Nobody knows.
But we do know that Scott wore orange today. You should do that every week.
If your pro team and our college team will do their part, maybe I will.
When the Browns beat the Jets next week, Scott's wearing orange on Monday.
I can't guarantee that, but I'll be here with you.
I'm just saying it's going to happen.
Thank you, sir.
You got it, bud.
Just 14 yards a punt, including a 25-yarder, and that's blocked.
And it'll be scooped up in the end zone.
Touchdown, New Orleans.
And it's Curtis Deloach. What a moment. Just listen to this crowd.
Oh, my God.
This game ball is going to everybody in this city.
This city is getting this game ball from our organization, this team. This game ball is going to the city of New Orleans.
One of the iconic plays in NFL history 20 years ago. Hard to believe it was 20 years ago. Steve Gleason blocks the punt, and then tonight on the 20-year anniversary, the Dome coming game, the Saints and the Falcons.
Roman Harper joins us now with the NFL report. the former St. D.B., you were there that night. Thanks for joining us, Roman.
Thanks for having me so much. Listen, going back to those memories, listen to Sean say that, you almost like forget it. Like just being in the moment, giving the game ball, I saw Avery Johnson in the background, who was one of the guys that is from New Orleans that spoke to our team leading up to that, that actually ended up getting a Super Bowl ring with us four years later. So that's Crazy, all the memories, seeing Hollis Thomas, a couple of the guys in the background, some of the doctors that I know and still cared so much about, and truly, truly a special moment. You also saying that was 20 years ago makes me feel a little bit old.
I mean, seriously, we all remember where we were. You were actually there.
Watching that block punt and obviously playing in that game. We see the block punt, Steve Gleason laying out there on your T-shirt. What is your lasting memory, Roman, of that night, week three, 2006?
You know, it's crazy because I was so young. I was a rookie, 23 years old at the time. And I was just excited to play against Michael Vick because he was the cheat code in Madden for all my years of college. To me, I was like, oh my gosh, Michael Vick. And then you get in the Superdome and that night and people are crying. All the emotions, you can just totally feel it just being in the building.
It was a crazy moment, crazy night. And the funny thing is, is I looked up You know, all these years later, I've got to know Michael Vick and I've met his wife and his family. And, you know, I talked to his wife and she was like, you were at that game. I was like, yeah, I was on the other side. She's like, you know, she's like, I've seen Mike playing a lot of games. That's the only game I've been to within the first two minutes of just being in an arena. She's like, they have no chance to win this game. Like, no chance. So it wasn't just me. Everybody felt it in that building that night.
It was just something special. And so, you know, you never truly appreciate the good old days when you're living in them. And so now I look back and look and say, man, I wish I just would have cherished it just a little bit more. Take the gloves with me. Maybe the towel or something from that game because it was special. And I'm one of the rare few people that can say I was in the game. I played in that game and I was on the winning side of it. And it was special. It's something I'll always remember and cherish.
Honestly, Roman, I'm getting chills just thinking about it right now. There's a reason that play has a statue outside the dome. There's a reason they call that play the rebirth, because post-Katrina, it was a rebirth for.
The city and for the region.
Roman, what does this team and what does that play mean for the people of New Orleans?
It's this sense of never giving up, that we are still together. We are one. You know, the city of New Orleans, it's all about the culture. You hear people talk about that all the time. Well, the culture is the people. And so I don't think you understand. You know, I remember so vividly. The FEMA trailers, the blue tarps on all the houses. And the Saints, that team that year, we were the only three to four hours on a weekly basis that some people had joy. There wasn't a lot of joy outside of that. I remember... You know, the numbers outside of all the homes that were boarded up where it said one cat, one dog, how many bodies they found in the house or what was left over inside the remains. And so it was crazy. You know,
I'm coming from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa. I'm from Alabama. I come away four and a half hours downtown, down the road to a city that I thought was so nice and spectacle, but it was in total disarray and destruction still. And so it was sad. But ultimately, the Saints, that team that year, is what ultimately kind of brought all the attention back because we won 10-11 games. We went to an NFC Championship game. We collected so many more fans from outside the normal River... Gulf Coast region that year and it was special and so I New Orleans is will forever be my second city outside of Prattville Alabama being my first city and special special time in my life and that I truly will forever be
indebted to that city oh man look at that young Rome making plays over there.
Look at the young Roman Harper making a play on Michael Turner look at that Get the ball out.
Let's go.
Shout out to Algie Crumpler, who's a great tight end. And he was another player I was just excited to play against as well. So shout out to all those guys. So it's good seeing those memories. I wish my son could see it because he always calls me. I'm not good. I'm just old. So it's good to kind of see some older memories every time, every now and then.
In our final minute, let's spin it forward here. Perfect transition to football because it's an emotional night. There's all the feels and all the memories tonight as well. But you also have the Saints trying to beat the Falcons. Atlanta looked awful a week ago. Then all of a sudden they go to Green Bay and they win.
They beat the Packers.
The Saints feel like they should be better than their record at 1-2, Roman.
So what goes down tonight?
You know, first of all, if you can't get up for this game, number one, it's versus Atlanta. The fans don't like each other. The rivalry is real. It's at home. The Saints are going to have the gold pants on, which I think a lot of people are saying that's a big deal. That's tradition for them. And so the Saints should be better. You know, you're a fumble call away versus Detroit from winning that game. A lot of people are saying last week it should have been an incomplete pass for Tyler Shuck last week when it was called a fumble versus the Raiders. And they were up big.
They were up 17, and all of a sudden you give up. up all those points in the fourth quarter michael pennix is playing better in this year for himself and bijan robinson you have to find a way to corral him and stop him the linebacker situation for the saints with all those injuries So that's going to be a problem. So how do you rise up, use the emotions and ultimately get a turnover to get the dome behind you and come around and mess around and get a win? Like sometimes you got to play for bigger things than just their name on the back of your jersey.
I think tonight the Saints have to tap into that. You have a lot of former players there, a lot of people there in the building that are waiting for the Saints to just have a great big win and not just for that team, but for the whole city and all the Saints fans and who that's out there.
If there's a night to do it, tonight would be the night. By the way, go listen to Roman's podcast with the great Charles Peanut Tillman, the Second Acts podcast.
Roman's also on the SEC Network. Appreciate your time, sir. Good luck to your Saints.
Thank you, man. Appreciate that. It'll be a lot of adult drinks had tonight by Roman in honor of Williams. So thank you, guys.
Please enjoy responsibly. Roman Harper, everybody, on the NFL Report. Had a game in London yesterday.
Prior to that game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the Commanders hosted a youth flag football clinic in London. Bill Krosky-Merrick, Caleb on chase on, Sam Hartman all at that event. Participants had the chance to learn flag football fundamentals from NFL players.
Commanders lost to the Colts.
Oh, by the way, first game in the annual London residency. Let's do some quick hits here on the NFL report. A lot of talk about the referees yesterday. Ian Rappaport says the NFL confirmed that line judge Jeff Seaman, who is the one seen interacting with Trey McBride of the Cardinals, has been suspended for two games. And Adrian Hill has been suspended for one game. He's the one interacting with Vikings linebacker Eric Wilson, each for an instance of what the league calls unprofessional conduct towards players. The suspensions were issued by the NFL VP of officiating, Ramon George. Schefter also says that Tyreek Hill could be coming back to the Chiefs. He had that bad hip injury last year.
He's been rehabbing, trying to get back into shape. And after the Tyquan Thornton injury yesterday, it seems like the perfect time Tyreek Hill could be going back to Kansas City. The Chargers are still looking for their first win.
They're 0-4.
Rayshon Slater, the Pro Bowl tackle, high ankle sprain, according to Ian Rappaport. MRI is coming, but high ankle sprains are usually multiple weak injuries. Not good as well in Minnesota for Donovan Jackson. The offensive lineman needs meniscus surgery. Kevin O'Connell says... He is out for the regular season.
As we mentioned earlier, Vikings offense has done next to nothing. We told you earlier of the Saquon Barkley injury. RB2, rather, I'm sorry, we got Derek Harmon in there. Derek Harmon is going on injured reserve, according to Mike McCarthy. He has a foot injury. It is a multi-week injury for Derek Harmon, minimum of four weeks, obviously, on IR. Now the Eagles and their running backs tanked. after Saquon got hurt yesterday, had to leave the game. Core muscle surgery, IR.
That is at least six weeks that Tank Bigsby could be out. Devastating news out of Arizona this afternoon. Left tackle Paris Johnson playing, rather, he's already.
Had his fifth-year option picked up.
Paris Johnson tore his bicep, tried to continue playing. He, according to Mike LaFleur, is out now.
For the year.
And then this late in the afternoon, Joe Mixon is coming back. Didn't play at all last year. It was last on the Texans roster. He is signing with the Seahawks practice squad.
All right. We have time for one more thing before we go. Did you see Banana the Corgi? Look at Banana, look back! Look at Banana, looking.
Like Usain Bolt in Rio. Banana the Corgi, five years old, has 111,000 followers on TikTok and is now a two-time champion. Congratulations to Banana with swag. Looking back at the dogs trailing Banana. Banana also wants to throw out a first pitch.
At a Mariners game.
I want to see more Banana.
Go on, buddy.
