Coming up on the NFL Report, J.J. is the man in New York. Why John Harbaugh took dynamite to the Giants quarterback depth chart. Is there any quarterback hotter than Drake May? Well, Caleb Williams may like a word. We have a week seven Thursday night preview. Plus, they're undefeated, but they are not unbeatable. Which of the three last team standing teams is real all of that next on the nfl report it is a road show represented by nationwide welcome to the nfl report on a wednesday ahead of week seven my name is andrew siciliano we thank you for being here coming up is lamar jackson playing this week we have the latest from baltimore and who does bucky brooks like tomorrow night in chicago bears and
patriots but first What is news to me? Our headlines here leading off on a Wednesday night. We go to New York where that did not take too long. After looking good off the bench in week six, J.J. McCarthy is now QB1 for the Giants. He has not been there that long at all. Trade happened before week four, and now he's taken over week seven.
Just being around a new group of guys, new system, new coaching staff, just a new culture. Everything about this place, you know, it feels new. Very fitting for me, you know, just being, you know, in a makeshift locker room, being in this system where, you know, they use the quarterback's legs and multitude of things, but the personalities, the culture of just, you know, grinding every single day to get better and everyone helping each other to, you know, progress towards one goal. It's been fantastic. You know, a lot of successful buildings have similar qualities and this building definitely has that, but it's got its own little makeshift of New York Giant football.
New York Giants football going on the road. Bucky Brooks, hi there, to take on the Houston Texans. You just saw them in London. That game is coming up in Houston. John Harbaugh, when the trade was made a month ago, was like, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. We're just bringing him in. Jameis is our guy. Well, now Jameis is not our guy.
J.J.
Is their guy. Is this going to work?
In the environment, being very familiar.
Of course it's familiar because he played for John Harbaugh's brother in Michigan. At Michigan, he was 27-1, had a winning pedigree. He is what I call a game manager plus. That's how you play it at Michigan. Now, with the Giants, they're going to ask him to do the same thing. Manage the moment. Make sure you make plays with your legs when they're there. But more importantly, just be a distributor.
And when you look at Malik Nabors, three straight 100-yard games, Isaiah Likely, who is able to control the middle of the field, if they can get this running game going to complement what should be a really good defense, J.J.
McCarthy can win, and he can win big in New York.
Game Manager Plus, I think, is a compliment. Bucky, stay right there.
Let's get some other news.
Also out of New York, where there was a fall meeting going on, the owners getting together in New York, and we heard from the commissioner today at said meeting, one day after the NFLPA called for a, quote, full investigation into the Eagles' handling of Jalen Hurts' medical care after being diagnosed with blood clots in London.
Well, we welcome that.
That's part of our processes.
That's fine.
Our chief medical officer has been through the protocols that were followed. So we welcome that. If that's what they do, they have that right.
We're welcome.
Obviously, there was a medical evaluation. And I think our protocols were incredibly good there. The most important thing here is Jalen's health, ultimately, and the future of him. He's a wonderful young man and not just a great player, but he's someone we all care deeply about. So I'm more worried about his health, ultimately, but the protocols were followed.
Our process is to make sure that's the case, and our chief medical officer has gone through that. So we're comfortable with what we've seen and the protocols have happened. When you get into medical evaluations, you see different people have different opinions on that.
You all are reporting different people are.
Making those evaluations without even seeing the player or without even seeing the medical records. And I think that's important to understand we have the greatest medical advisors and people that are working on the health of our players.
Eagles get the Cowboys that game Monday night in Philadelphia. Meantime, in Baltimore, Lamar Jackson and the Ravens will host the Bengals on Sunday. Lamar was back at practice on Wednesday. That's the good news. The bad news is he is limited, but he is getting there. Snoop Huntley has played the last two games. Baltimore won and won with him. Baker Mayfield has missed the last three games for the Buccaneers.
He was back at practice, a full participant today in Tampa. He's wearing a white glove. on that hand. Had a dislocated thumb on the throwing hand. Needed surgery. The Bucs are on the road against Carolina coming up on Sunday. Also Sunday, the Packers are back on the field. Is Josh Jacobs going to play for them? We don't know.
But the running back practiced Wednesday after being reinstated from the commissioner exempt list. Jacobs pleaded no contest to two misdemeanor charges related to domestic violence.
A lot of times you get in a situation where you might not make the right decision. And I don't think that, I think people learn from their mistakes and I think he's extremely remorseful. And I do believe that he is a good person. I've been around him quite a bit. And, you know, I just, I believe in second chances.
Packers and Lions are in the 425 window, and then we have after that a possible Super Bowl preview in Seattle. Or is it? The Seahawks are 3-3, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, as you see here. Meantime, we're one of the three remaining unbeaten teams. They are 5-0.
They're good at every single level of the defense, defensive line, linebackers. secondary everybody and they have a great scheme and so they're gonna make you earn it every single drive and it's not always gonna be pretty but you have to be consistent and not not push it too far but push it enough to make plays happen and so um going up against coach mcdonald uh whenever he was in with the ravens um i learned that and so um this would be a great challenge for us uh we have to go out there and match their energy and match their passion and execute at a high level.
I mean, I believe in the Seahawks, even though they are not undefeated. I think they are still legit. But the three remaining undefeated, as we saw, are Mahomes and the Chiefs, Purdy and the 49ers, and, hi there, Bucky, the Brian Flores-led, Kevin O'Connell, Kyler Murray-led Minnesota Vikings. Which of those three, I like that bingo card, by the way, has the most staying power?
Man, I like those three teams that we're talking about. Each of them have superpowers that you can believe in and lean into. But I'm going to go to Kansas City Chiefs here. And the reason why I'm going to Kansas City is because I think the Kenneth Walker addition has given them the balance that they needed for years.
I just think about Pat Mahomes and even doing that great run. They were doing it primarily on the strength of his right arm, the big plays, the explosive factor. But now they have the number one rusher in football. They have someone who can control the game. He can do it not only as a runner, but he can do it as a receiver. And what he's done is, He's given them the ability to control the game. So in playing complimentary football, where the offense, the defense, and the special teams are operating together, the Kansas City Chiefs can go with big plays or they can dink and dunk and really lean into the running game. I love what Kendall Walker has added to this team.
That's why I think they have staying power.
Bucky, let's go back to September. Kenneth Walker had a great week one, a great week two. And I think you and I had this conversation about whether or not Andy Reid would stick to the run. Because the old Andy in Philadelphia would do that. But this edition of Andy with Pat Mahomes, a young Pat Mahomes, especially a couple of years ago, maybe wouldn't stick to the run.
Yet here we are.
Yeah, I think the reason why, Eric Biennium, People can say what they want to say about Eric Bien-Aimé and whether he should be a head coach or play caller, whatever. But his presence changes how the Kansas City Chiefs operate. There's a discipline and a detail they operate when Eric Biennium is in the building. And you cannot deny the impact that he has on the running backs that he touches. Well, with Kenneth Walker in the building, Eric Biennium there to whisper those things in Andy Reid's ear about we need to stay balanced. We need to make sure we have a physicality about our offense. I think that has given this team the confidence to know that they don't have to throw it all over the yard. every game that
they can hand it to K-9 and allow him to go to work. And he has been going to work leading rush in the league, most explosive plays from a running back. All those things have just continued to give the Kansas City Chiefs the confidence that they can run the football and that is the best path to victory for them.
And he is a legitimate, Ken Walker is a legitimate MVP candidate. Go to NFL.com slash MVP rankings. He is number two. Who's number one? Who's behind him? Kevin Patra has the list. Again, NFL.com slash MVP rankings.
Thank you, Bucky.
I never thought I would say this sentence on television. The Saints practice in Versailles today. Not like the Palace, not like at Versailles, but at a local stadium in Versailles, in France, in advance of the NFL's first ever game over there Sunday against the Steelers.
It's been a great experience for our players. It was great for us to get here essentially Monday morning. Our guys had a little bit of time to get acclimated, spend a little time in the city and in the surrounding areas.
And, you know, it's been a lot of fun. And so I've really enjoyed this.
Our team gets to spend a little bit more time together we get to experience something unique it's a really unique and grateful opportunity that we have to be here and be a part of the first NFL game here in France and so it's been awesome.
Definitely excited for the scenery and to be a part of it it's the first NFL game being played in France so You know, it's an opportunity for all of us.
I want to win.
You know what I'm saying? So we'll always have that to brag about that we won the first NFL. I mean, the first American football game played in France. We had a chance to win it. And then, you know, we'll be a part of history. That's Alvin Kamara there. You saw Tyler shuck next to him. Bucky and Tyler Shuck and the Saints and Alvin Kamara and the Saints got a win. They beat the Giants, which actually brought about a quarterback change.
So now they get the Steelers, a little bit different. Can what we saw last week translate, if you will, to French? Can they keep it going?
They absolutely can. And the reason they can keep it going is because you have a lot of belief and confidence in the young quarterback, Tyler Shutt. Tyler Shutt and Kellen Moore have this synergy, this connection, where they've been able to lock different parts of this offense. And even though they need to get this running game going, man, they can throw it all over the yard. Tyler Shutt does a really good job of taking.
Care of the ball.
And they have an explosive dimension to this offense. The Pittsburgh Steelers, to me, can play really good football, but there is a limit to the amount of points that we believe that they can score. I believe the New Orleans Saints can get over that 24, 25-point mark, and I think the Steelers will have a tough time catching them if this game can somehow turn into a shootout.
I would love to be the guy trying to explain to the French that S-H-O-U-G-H is pronounced shuck. Coming up, don't go anywhere. Bucky's coming right back. We're coming right back on the NFL Report and looking at the NFC East and Tanner McKee. Is anyone good here? Is the NFC East the new NFC South? And we get the Seahawks side of that Sunday afternoon affair with the Chiefs.
Don't go anywhere.
You're watching the NFL Report. Let's get back to that Sunday night game. It's the Chiefs. It's the Seahawks at Lumen Field. We heard earlier from Patrick Mahomes. Let's hear now from Mike McDonald after Sam Darnold turned into a turnover machine the last couple of weeks. But this is on the flip side on Eric Biennemi and Andy Reid.
I have a lot of respect for Coach Biennemi. He's a great football coach. Andy Reid's obviously probably the best there is football coach. I mean, so it's It's quite a tag team. I can speak for this year. They're playing really complimentary football. They're playing team football. They're they're staying ahead of the sticks. They're being very efficient. They're also the most explosive offense in the league. Very, you know, very few penalties, very few takeaways. So they're playing really mean that they're just they're a great unit.
All right, that is talking about complimentary football. It's both sides complimenting the other side. Such a great quarterback matchup tomorrow night to open up week seven, battle of the number one overall pick from 2024, Caleb Williams. And then there's Drake May, the number three overall pick. It's the second time they met. May won round one when they were rookies.
I've kind of grown up with Drake throughout the years. We've been in the same class for a while. We've been to so many camps. We've probably one of the closer guys that I am. closer to in my class and just overall on another team, if anybody. And so being able to watch him kind of grow up and be around each other, it's been fun. But his mobility and things like that, it's always been a weapon for him.
Him in the pocket, I don't know if I could do some of the things he can do. He's special in the way he can move and kind of escape and evade pressure and throwing on the run is pretty cool to watch. So I don't know if I'm that you know, shifty in the pocket. He can do some, some cool things. And he's got, you know, crazy arm talent and it's fun to watch.
All right.
This game's at soldier field tomorrow night, Bucky Brooks opening up week seven. Remember like a month ago when people said Drake may was broken. Remember that now they've won three in a row. He's got 10 touchdowns in those three.
Look, he is a target one. And so I got to rock with Drake May because I.
Believe he's come through. The question is, can you stay hot? You're going to say yes.
Yes. He's come through those struggles and really been well.
If you go look at the last three games, 10 touchdowns, one interception. And he's finding his rhythm. This is the guy that was the runner for the MVP last year. So for everyone to jump off the Drake May train, it was a little premature given what he was playing with.
A.J.
Brown comes back. They're going to find a way to run the football. And as Josh McDaniels is beginning to find the comfort level with what Drake May can do really well this year, we're seeing.
That offense change. begin to take hold. We're beginning to see them play complimentary ball.
And the one thing that we know about a Mike Vrabel team, regardless of what they do offensively, they are going to make the game ugly enough that they're always in range. With the offense playing better, I now believe the Patriots are climbing back into contention as one of those title teams that we'll talk about at the end of the year.
Now, they're a title team potentially here without their starting guards, left guard out Thursday night, right guard out Thursday night. So, you know, that's an issue you'd have to think, but the Bears can't rush the passer. Bucky, real quick here, like why were we or why maybe are we so quick to write people off?
Well, I think there was a carryover effect.
Last year in the postseason, the last two times we saw Drake Mack, The AFC Championship game and the Super Bowl.
He didn't play well. He turned the ball over.
And it appeared that there was a hangover that was impacting his play in 2026. You saw the turnovers right away. I was in Jacksonville when he came down there. They didn't play well. But give him credit for having the resolve, the toughness to work his way through it. And then give Josh McDaniels credit for finding easy things for Drake May to hang.
His hat on.
That is why the Young Patriots star is back. It's one of the reasons why I think he'll be back in the conversation as one of those MVP guys.
Such a good schedule this week and that's a good one to open it up Bucky stay right there want to hit another week seven game it's the Falcons it's the 49ers Bijan Robinson second in the NFL behind Ken Walker in rushing Falcons had it going a couple of weeks ago with Michael Panics coming back but they've since lost two in a row and this week they're facing their former head coach Raheem Morris who's now the DC of the 49ers.
I'm super excited to play him you know obviously he's Father figure, big brother to me. And to get to play him in his defense and just how well they've been doing is a testament to him and what he's done. And then obviously just the players that follow him. But, you know, I'm super excited to get to go out there and compete against them, especially like how how they've been rolling and, you know, coming in undefeated.
You know, I think it'll be a great matchup.
That's a 1 o'clock Eastern time game on Sunday, and then on Monday, the Cowboys and the Eagles. Jalen Hurts out indefinitely, so it's Tanner McKee again this week, and probably for a while, Eagles have lost four in a row. They are at home. Here is Sean Mannion, the OC.
We came out in the second half, had some third down conversions, had a close call on the deep shot to Wicks.
I think there was some.
Chances there that we just didn't quite capitalize on, but Ultimately, as a staff, I'm looking every week to put ourselves in the best position possible, kind of leaving halftime to extend those drives.
I think we're closer.
I know the result hasn't been what we want or what we hold ourselves to as an offense. I felt like we were getting closer in the second half. We really just have to finish some of those drives.
Getting closer offensively, they are close right behind the Giants. The Giants are 3-2-1. They lead the NFC East. Eagles, if they get a win, I mean, look, they're one game back in the win column. So too are the Cowboys. Even the Commanders are only two games back. in the win column. Bucky, this division, and part of the reason why is because they're playing each other, this division hasn't won a game the last two weeks. There's a tie, but they haven't won a game the last two weeks.
Is there any team there that you believe in?
America's team. You got to hold out hope.
Cowboys fans have been believing for 30 years that this year they go to the Super Bowl. So I'm going to join them, and I'm going to believe in the Cowboys. But part of the reason I'm going to believe in the Cowboys is because they've got the best quarterback in the division. Dak Prescott, four-time pro bowler. He has weapons on the outside, C.D. Lamb and George Pickens, that can give people problems if they get the running game jump-started with Javante Williams.
They can certainly control the game from their offense. Mike Pettin is a huge addition to the Dallas Cowboys.
He comes in as a senior defensive assistant to help out first-time defensive coordinator Christian Parker. And even though there's this conversation like Mike Pettin's going to take over, I think His trusted eyes and ears are going to help Christian Porter put together better game plans, help them make sure that the practices match what they want to do in the game, and ultimately, we'll get better performance. But remember, this division will not run away from the Cowboys. So because of that and the talent that they have, I'm just a believer that America's team will find a way to end up on top.
Bucky, for the record, I want you to know that when you said you believed in the Cowboys at the beginning of your answer, you did start to laugh.
I mean, Cowboys fans have been believing for 38. Why can't I have a little confidence and belief?
He's allowed to laugh. Bucky Brooks with a chuckle. Thank you, Bucky.
Bucky with us today. Love you, man, on the NFL Report.
Coming up on said show, Sam Laporta wants to get paid. Will he be paid in Detroit? Or will that check come elsewhere? We'll tell you what he said straight ahead.
Don't go anywhere.

terms and conditions do apply. Let's get back to the football news, and this is a serious story. Adam Schefter reporting that Titans defensive lineman Jordan Elliott, who was released yesterday, was attempting to retrieve a gun from his car following an altercation with a teammate, the teammate J.C. Latham. That's why Robert Sala and the Titans cut Elliott.
I will stand on the table for Jordan's character. Unfortunately, rules are rules with regards to guns on property. And sometimes it's far greater than the knee-jerk reaction of kicking somebody and kicking somebody when they're down. My message to 31 other teams would be if you need a hell of a run-stopping de-tackle that can help you on a playoff run, give me a call.
I'll tell you everything you need to know about him. He's a good man.
Had a terrible lapse in judgment that I recognize as a call for help more than a criminal act. And it's unfortunate the way it went down. But But as far as Jordan's concerned and the locker room and all that, I think the locker room and Jordan, I think people see it differently here than the knee-jerk reaction of the world.
Echo those sentiments defending his former teammate, Jordan Elliott. Meantime, this from Mike Garofalo. Bill's defensive back, Sam Franklin, denies the allegation that he spat at a Raider he was suspended. He will appeal his suspension. It's a one-game suspension. That was one magic loogie, evidently. Sam Laporta is frustrated that he does not have a new contract. He's the Lions' tight end. Laporta went on a podcast, the Busting with the Boys podcast, and basically said, look, if they're not going to pay me and I'd rather be here and I'd rather get paid here, he's going to go elsewhere somewhere next year. He's going to go elsewhere and get his check. So Sam Laporta wants a new contract right now.
No progress in Detroit, but there is progress in Denver. Pat Sertan back on the practice field today as the Broncos get ready for Week 7 in Arizona. Sertan has missed each of the Broncos' last two games. Also good news in Atlanta with a top-tier defensive back, A.J. Terrell, who's on injured reserve. Back to practice today, says Kevin Stefanski, is the... Falcons hope to get him back on the field.
And good news in Cleveland as well. Mason Graham is not on injured reserve, but the Browns defensive tackle has missed the last two games. Todd Munkin says there is, quote, a pretty good chance that Graham is back this week. And he also noted that Graham was frustrated he couldn't play in the Browns victory over the Ravens week six because he wanted to play against Jesse Minter this one of his college coaches at Michigan. Graham still leads the Browns with four sacks. And speaking of sacks, time for one more thing. Before we go, Calais Campbell did play in that Ravens-Browns game. And in that game, he got a sack of Deshaun Watson and history from the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He is just the second player
since sacks became an official statistic to record a sack in 18 seasons. The other being Hall of Famer, Bruce Smith, also Calais Campbell, is the oldest, or rather has played in the most games ever for a defensive lineman, passing the great Viking Jim Marshall. That's it for the NFL Report. My name is Andrew Siciliano. We're back on Thursday to preview TNF, the Bears and the Patriots. So long, everybody.
