It's a brand new edition of NFL Report, and it's a primetime game with two teams who haven't revealed who they are just yet. Dallas and Green Bay both have significant expectations that come along with some serious questions.

We'll tell you who has the week six edge.

Got some important injury updates for fans and fantasy owners. The quarterback who's out... the one who is in, and the one who actually might see the fields. We have the latest from their head coaches. And the championship-level defense seems to still be there for the Seahawks, but losses are piling up along with those darn pesky turnovers. Is it time to stomp on that panic button? And welcome to a brand-new edition of NFL Report. I'm Mikey, I'm my good friend, and Nick Schuch is going to be joining us in just a couple minutes. We've got the latest on Jalen Hurts, Jeremiah Love, But we'll start off the show with a two-time MVP. In fact, we thought that Lamar Jackson was going to be able to play.

He is our headliner of the day. The only issue is, against that Browns team, he's been ruled out. Been dealing with that ankle injury. It's the second straight time he's missed a game. That means Snoop Huntley will get the start this week after leading Ravens squad to an overtime win in Atlanta.

Here's Ravens head coach Jesse Minter.

He's just an infectious personality. And not always infectious can be different. He's just got a cool, calm, collected, confident. To me, that's infectious. And when he's in there, that's kind of how the guys feel. And it's really no different with Lamar. But Snoop, for being in the position that he's in when you're the next guy in, to have that, I think that goes a long way with guys.

And again. We won't bat an eye with Snoop being in there, and we'll go shoot our shot this week.

Important game for that Ravens squad. Meanwhile, Michael Penick's unable to finish that overtime loss to Baltimore. Good news is he's good to go with the rib injury. He's been a full participant in practice all week, and he will get the start against the Bears. And speaking of Chicago, Caleb Williams, a full participant in practice for a third consecutive day today, listed as questionable, missed three games with a hamstring injury. Ben Johnson gave reporters the update.

We're right on track with the plan and we'll see what it looks like, see how he feels and confidence is a big part of it as well. But I know he wants to play. He's a competitor. It's been not fun for him the last few weeks watching from the sideline, just like any guy that loves football. It's been a tough deal for him. So I know he's itching to get back out there and help us win ballgames.

So if we feel really good as as a front office, a coaching staff, and the player himself about playing, then we'll go ahead and go with it.

All right, we're going to keep the fingers crossed that Caleb Williams is going to be out there for Chicago fans. Nick Shook from NFL.com is with us right now. Break this down for me. We know he's dynamic. We know he's the leader of that team's offense. How does he change the complexion of.

This team, though?

The big question with how does he change his complexion of this team is how mobile can he be? As we've seen so far with most hamstring injuries, they can be tricky. And we don't really know exactly what percentage he's at in terms of strength and confidence in an injury that he suffered nearly a month ago now, because that's what makes him so special is the fact that he can escape the pocket, extend plays, improvise. He's one of the best and he's one of the most enjoyable to watch when he does that. So that's a big question that he's got to answer before we can really figure out exactly how he.

Changes the offense.

But if he's at full strength like he was before, they're instantly significantly better, especially than they were last week with Tyson Bajan and Case Keenum, which was a low point for them this year.

Yeah, it's crazy, too, because you think about this team's offense and as dangerous as he is with that arm, you think back to week number one against the Panthers.

I mean, you can see those highlights, right? That's kind of that.

Danger zone that he presents to a whole lot of defenses. By the way, they scored 59 points in that game. It looks like they are a shell of themselves without Caleb Williams. So, I know we get that update from Ben Johnson just a few minutes ago.

It'll be interesting to.

See how healthy, how mobile Caleb Williams is when he hits the field. Meanwhile, some issues at the quarterback spot. God, I feel like we're saying this constantly on NFL Report. These quarterbacks that continue to go down. This is not great news here from the Philadelphia Eagles perspective. Jalen Hurts been ruled out for Sunday's game against Carolina because of the superficial blood clot in his calf. Now Tanner McKee gets to start for a Philly team that has been reeling.

They've lost three straight games. Here's their head coach, Nick Ceriani.

I'm not going to get too much into that. I know there's a great deal of interest in Jalen's health. But I'm not going to get too much into any of that. Jalen's health is the utmost important to all of us in this building. I care deeply about Jalen. And, you know, like I said, I'm not going to get too much into that. You know, Tanner was out there yesterday and, you know– went on as business as usual.

I have a lot of faith in Tanner.

I was able to go back and watch some of the games that he's been able to play in and really excited for his opportunity, but obviously bummed for Jalen.

Well, without your starting quarterback and going to your backup, that means you need a little bit of depth in that room. Joe Milton has now signed with the Eagles. We watched him in the preseason rocking that Dallas uniform. Had some really good moments. In fact, when Jackson Dart went down, I thought the Giants might actually go and sign Milton. A huge arm and potentially a boost inside that room. Meanwhile, Mike Frabel says the team's going to make a decision on Saturday.

If A.J.

Brown's going to play Sunday against the Jets. He's been out since the opener because of that high ankle sprain. New England, though, they've been on a tear. May's got eight total touchdowns in his last two games, and maybe the most important stat is they're 2-0 during that spam. Meanwhile, Cardinals rookie running back Jeremiah Love will miss Sunday's game against the Rams. He's continuing to nurse that. left ankle injury.

When asked about playing on Sunday, his coach Michael Forrest said, quote, it wouldn't be in the best interest of him. He will get reevaluated on Monday. It's a primetime matchup. In some ways, really looking forward to seeing which team could show up here. Dallas' defense made the headlines. Both the Cowboys and Packers, though, driven by their quarterbacks. Jordan Love and Dak Prescott both at least 300 passing yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions in their last matchup.

Brian Schottenheimer knows Green Bay, they're coming in hot.

I mean, you say GTFB, which means stay the frick back. And knowing that they're going to take some deep shots and launch the ball down the field, Jordan's got great trust in those weapons. Christian's been making these plays for a long, long time in this league and at a high level. Matthew Golden, I think, is a rising star in this league with speed and route running ability. Again, we have to do a good job, like you said, keeping a lid on it and knowing he's going to take those shots. The good news is when you take some of those shots, which we do to our guys, George and CeeDee as well, it is truly a 50-50 ball.

So hopefully we can come down with a couple of them.

You know, Nick and I were talking about this matchup extensively off air, going back and forth in our minds on which one could come out on top. So now we're on air, so you have to give me the answer. Who has the edge in this game?

It's really difficult because they are similar in some fashions. The explosive offense, the explosive passing game. But we do know at least we have a little bit of a sample size that makes us think we know the Cowboys defense can't stop anything. The Packers defense did do a good job of stopping the Bears with Tyson Bajan and Case Keenum on the field last week. This is obviously a much greater challenge, but I do believe in their secondary.

I like Evan Williams.

I like Xavier McKinney, who's long had a nose for the football. And if the Buccaneers can cause problems for Dak Prescott like they did on Thursday Night Football last week, which feels like ages ago at this point, then I think this secondary can as well.

What I anticipate, though, is a bit of a shootout. And history says that it will be.

The last five games, four of which have been won by the Packers, they required them to score at least 31 points to win the game. 4-0 and 1, the last one being a 40-40 tie. History tells me there's going to be a lot of points, and history tells me that one defense is better than the other one.

Yeah.

You know, Nick, I say this a lot on the shows that we do here on the NFL channel. Picking some of these games sometimes is a game of trust. Like, who do you trust more? And despite the fact that I think both of us pick Green Bay, in this game. I'm starting to think I might just trust Dallas' offense a little bit more.

I feel like I want to go back on that selection. I won't, but I just, I know it's Dak. You're falling in love with the shiny toy. I know, I know.

That's definitely a part of it. By the way, there are some reinforcements. Green Bay, this has been a tough year for them offensively. major issues on the offensive line, also in the running game. Josh Jacobs actually was placed on the commissioner's exemplars back in August because of a domestic abuse arrest last May. He's going to be removed on Sunday, meaning he's eligible to return in week seven.

Here's what Ian Rappaport put on social media.

So at least knocking on the door right now for some help in that backfield because it has been tough sledding right now from a Green Bay perspective. All right, let's take you back to Seattle and Denver. Watched a little TNF yesterday. Picked this thing up in the fourth quarter. There was a part of me that was going, is a fumble going to happen here? Because it's been one of those seasons. Helani gets into the end zone. Three-point game after a two-point conversion, which meant we got a little extra football in overtime.

Darnold, and this has been a problem, man.

Remember, no Patrick Tan in this game either from a Denver perspective. Two picks in the matchup for Darnold. No touchdowns. He's going to be shaking his head going, what is going on so far this season? They Interceptions continue to pile up for him. More on that in just a moment. Will Lutz from 53.

Get it done.

Darnold and the Seahawks now suffer their second loss in just the last five days.

Here's Darnold.

Yeah, no way to sugarcoat it. That one sucked. You know, can't turn the ball over. You know, that's obviously... you know, at the forefront of my mind. But there's just a lot, you know, a lot we can do better. I just, think it's BS, you know, for me to keep turning the ball over. And it's not fair to our defense, not fair to our special teams group, not fair really to the entire team.

So I got to be better that way.

Crunch the numbers, which sometimes is hard for me to do. Sam Darnold on the season, every 21 attempts, he is throwing an interception.

By the way, I double-checked the math. It is correct. This is, you can't win games like this. No, it's not sustainable.

And I know that they had a high turnover rate last year and they won the Super Bowl, but this is not the same scenario. This is a team that doesn't really have much of a running game to speak of, although they found some success last night.

And they're leaning too heavily on Jackson Smith and Jigba, who is.

An incredible player and is highly productive and comes through in key spots. But it is too simple of an offense to really be a competitive unit. And Sam Darnold is essentially becoming a quarterback who drops back and says, well, if JSN's not open, I'm going to start panicking and making mistakes. You know, in that short highlights package, what we didn't show was that he'd thrown another interception in the fourth quarter that should have put the game away if the Broncos were capable of doing so.

They got a second chance. They found some success.

But long term, if you can't protect and you can't run the football, you got to be more diverse as a passing game than they are right now.

Multiple turnovers against the commanders. And by the way, they had an opportunity against San Francisco to even potentially win that game.

Had some throws.

On a third and 11 down the stretch, he dropped when he never drops passes. And then Cooper Cup just called short. So I guess my point is the margins are so darn thin for this team. You mentioned this last year, 28 turnovers or giveaways from a season ago. That was second in the NFL. They cleaned it up in the postseason, which is why they won. But by the way, Bo Nix, he wasn't gangbusters on the other side.

You keep talking about Denver's team. I'm actually worried about Denver, too.

Yeah, I'm worried about them as well.

This was not a good performance for them as an offense. It has not been a good offense for a while now. You thought maybe some of it was the opponent. They had a really strong list of opponents. They played Kansas City, Jacksonville, the Rams, the Niners, the Chargers, the Seahawks. That's a tough group to play against. But Bo Nix is not playing a good quarterback right now.

He's not making a ton of mistakes. He's just bringing the ceiling of this entire offense too low.

Yeah, no touchdown passes in this game. Passes for just over 100 yards. Generally speaking, for an offense led by Sean Payton, that doesn't necessarily mean Ws.

They get one and an important one.

Against seattle more from nick coming up in just a minute the patriots they've won two straight the offense has been rolling we told you a little bit earlier aj brown questionable to play against the jets but drake may in this offense it's impressive back-to-back wins against the bills and the raiders now may and the pats they get another divisional opponent in the jets.

Yeah i think they're physical i think they're tenacity i think they got a um they kind of got a I wouldn't say a new kind of ferociousness, but from last year, you can kind of see it on tape, the difference. They had some new faces, some mentality. I think they're buying into really what Coach Glenn, how he wants to play defense, and I think you respect that.

You can see that on film. It pops out to you. So they do a good job on the back end of mixing it up and also getting on you and grabbing you and playing physical. So you can see that they kind of are building something on defense, and it's really a show this year with how they played.

Facts on that.

Meanwhile, Nick was telling us about the Cowboys and the Packers a little bit earlier, and that was more of on an offensive side, but the Dallas defense clearly struggling. They're the only team in the NFL that allowed at least 375 total yards in every game this season. Quinton Williams, one of the leaders of this team, and it sounded like it when he was asked about the unit's performance.

I take full personal responsibility for it. I look in the mirror for myself. I know I need to play better. I know I need to do better. And I take full accountability and full responsibility for the way this defense is going at the moment. And like I said, I took a break this weekend and reset, learn, and grow and focus on getting better.

Matchup Sunday night football against that Packers squad. Meanwhile, Texans stayed in London for the big matchup at Wembley with the Jags. Ahead of the game, Redwood Pub was transformed into the Texans bullpen of London. Texans chair and CEO Cal McNair, Hannah McNair, and the Hall of Famer, Huntry Johnson, on hand. Special visit at the pub with Texans fans, pouring out some pints of beer.

Anyone else a little thirsty? I'll raise my hand. Here's CJ Stroud on the Jags and the trip to the UK.

Very talented group. Somebody, you know, I've had a lot of history with. I think, you know, they've done a great job. You know, like you said, stopping a run. I think, you know, Allen's a heck of a player with Armstead and, you know, with Walker. I think they're great players. I think 23 was one of the best backers, very underrated. And then in backhand, they've been playing well as well. So, I mean.

Is there anything about London that you're looking forward to seeing or experiencing or anything that excites you about going there?

I would just say just playing in front of a different fan base. I think it's cool. I'm very grateful and appreciative to have this opportunity to play every week in the NFL, to even practice. I try not to take anything for granted. So just having the opportunity to play this game internationally is just dope to me. So I'm excited to just go out there and see a different atmosphere.

And it is a really cool experience for these players that get to play in these international games.

CJ, by the way, always, he's like this. Just an even dude.

I would think that this guy would be smiling ear to ear. They just traded for Marvin Harrison, who, by the way, will be playing in this game. I got to imagine from an offensive perspective, you know, revolving door, guys getting hurt, banged up, running game that's not... existent right now for the last two seasons. What does Harrison do to this team's offense?

Let me ask you a question real quick.

Do you have any friends that you haven't seen in a long time? Yeah.

And then you meet up and it's like you picked up right where you left off. You didn't miss anything. Thousand percent.

That is hopefully what the Texans are going to get in Marvin Harrison Jr.

With C.J. Stroud.

The last time they played together was at Ohio State in 2022. 1,263 yards, 14 touchdowns between Stroud and Harrison. That 14 touchdown total, more than Harrison's caught in his three years in the NFL so far.

Change of scenery might produce great results.

Also, like you mentioned, this is an offense that's really needed a go-to guy outside of Nico Collins who has struggled with injuries. He leads the team in receiving right now at 249 receiving yards. He's missed three games. That's how low of a bar. It is to play receiver for this team right now. So you get a familiar face in Marvin Harrison Jr.

Into this offense.

It's not going to be an overnight acclimation, but just the understanding of each other, the body language, knowing where a guy likes to put the football should produce some success and maybe uplift this offense.

You know, on Sunday, we usually start our game day preview show, which, by the way, you can catch 1130 a.m. Eastern time with a Sunday statement. If this game was later in the day, my statement would have been Marvin Harrison grabs a touchdown in this game. I think that that's going to happen. It has that feel. It has that vibe.

But from a Jags perspective, they're in London. They've been there now.

They're coming off of essentially a walk-off win, I guess is the best way to describe it, against the Eagles. How much of an advantage is that? Because it does feel like. London, candidly, is like a second home for this team.

Yeah, I think London is Jack's town.

And the fact that they were able to stay there for a second game I think does give them a preparatory advantage, but I don't know that that's necessarily going to be the difference. The weird thing about the AFC South is it hasn't gotten weird yet, and it usually gets weird, especially in these matchups.

So we could get a weird result, and I'm ready for it. Oh, you're teasing that.

There's some weird vibes a little bit later in the show in this division. I see what he was doing there, just kind of getting it under the radar. Meanwhile, the Niners looking for a 6-0 star, squaring off with the Commanders. San Francisco, one of three unbeatens in the NFL. And for as good as Brock Purdy's been, and by the way, he's leading the league with 13 passing touchdowns, Kyle Shanahan sees some real upside in Jaden Daniels.

Since he came in the league until now, I mean, Jaden's got a chance to be one of the better quarterbacks in this league without a doubt. Um, and when you take away the running element of him, just how he plays in the pocket, um, is so natural, um, with how accurate he is, how strong his arm is, how poised he is going through a progression, how fearless he is hanging in there and taking a hit, keeping his eyes down the field. And when you take that out, um, how scary is just running the ball. I mean, he's got the speed and the coordination to win games only with his legs. Um, But if he's a guy, which means you want to keep him in the pocket and not let him out because he can beat you with his legs. However, he's a very scary quarterback in the

pocket just playing the position. So he's got all the tools to be as good as there is.

And you saw that on display against the Giants. I mean, coming off the dislocated elbow, I thought, like, maybe this guy might be scared to get out of the pocket. That was not the case. Sunday early games, we agree, except for two, Saints and Giants and Bears and Falcons. You know I'm rolling with the GMNs.

Yeah.

I've been struggling, man.

I kind of regret that pick already. The Saints don't look very strong. Maybe this is the week they turn it around because I still can't.

Pin down the Giants. It's fine.

Look, and I know we talked about this earlier. Seriously, you and I have been in agreement right there. Cowboys and Packers, one of the Sunday night matchups that we were talking about a little bit earlier.

Chargers and Chiefs.

Casey, I cannot believe the Chargers right now are having this type of start. But once again, massive issues on that offensive line. Justin Herbert right now doesn't seem to have a supporting cast in that backfield as well.

So some real questions. NFL Plus Premium, come on now. You got to have it. You get NFL Red Zone.

You can watch every touchdown every Sunday afternoon during the regular season.

You got game replays.

I mean, some of these athletes in the NFL, you've got to be kidding me with some of these grabs. Meanwhile, some notable injuries for you. All right, I know we talked about Philadelphia. Chad McKee getting the start because we know that Jalen Hurts is out. Saquon also out. But we've got some good news. Devontae Smith is in. He missed the last two games with that hamstring injury, so at least there's some positivity. Because that team really needs some level of positive news the way it has been going over the last few games or so. Time for some

quick hits. Jonathan Cooper, his status now. The NFL actually placed the Broncos linebacker on paid leave August 30th following a domestic-related charge, including two injuries. incidents with his former girlfriend in June. So you can see Ian Rapoport putting that out on social media. Eligible to play in week number seven. Meanwhile, Trent McDuffie felt a pull in his groin on Thursday. Will not practice listed as questionable for the Rams-Cardinals game. A little bit of a tough news from that perspective from a Los Angeles side of things, especially when you talk about a divisional opponent.

How about that? Like you're Nick, you're a baseball guy. What are your thoughts on this?

This is fantastic. It's also a fresh off the rack. I can tell at least he bent the bill though. Good for him supporting his local team.

Cause Shanahan goes usually the straight, the flat, the flat right out of the golf course.

I was watching postgame coverage.

Those brewers, man, they seem like the most, I shouldn't say this to you cause you're, you're, but like they seem like the most likable dudes in, out there. This positive, Gail Benson, you can see kind of middle of your screen there hugging Kellen Moore. You know, we gave you the report here on NFL report earlier this week. Yeah, let's hug it out here.

Gail is just upset.

You can understand why she said, hey, this team hasn't met the expectations that she has for this organization. Kellen said, look, I get it. We showed you that press conference as well. His response positive. But as you could see on that practice field, everyone feeling good and Nick feeling confident. in that squad, picking them against the Giants. Time for Weekend Vibes.

It's an opportunity for Nick. We got to just figure this out. Can I just say that, throw this out there? The other day, we had the headshot of you with Elvis and the wig. If it's Weekend Vibes, we got to have some fun with it. So I am petitioning to get the Elvis-Nick-Shook face.

No, no, let's do something. I'm imagining myself in a pool at a pool party.

Some EDM's playing. We're having a good time. There's no worries in the world. That's what we're doing on weekends.

By the way, you mentioned EDM.

Let's not even get into the music conversation because that's going to go down a dark path.

That's what we do before we get on air. But take me through this. There's some storylines that you're following that have you feeling a certain way. Yeah, there's good and bad vibes.

We're going to start with the bad vibes so we can get it out of the way, and that's in Philadelphia, where the sky may or may not be falling right now. You don't have your quarterback. You don't have Saquon Barkley. Your right tackle retired. Your center got traded. You don't have options, but you do. You do in the form of Tanner McKee. You do maybe in the form of Joe Milton over time. You are the city of the underdog, Rocky Balboa. It's not just the city.

Of brotherly love.

This is where you prove your mettle, your toughness, your Philly strength, and you overcome those expectations of demise.

And you beat the Panthers. I'm feeling good about it. All right, this is good.

And we gave you the Devontae Smith news. He's going to be out there as well. I'm not saying the Elvis wig anymore. I'm saying it's a little Rocky Balboa. We'll put you face on semester. All right, so that was bad vibes.

You got some good ones? Good vibes.

Upset alert for the Colts. You're going on it now, and that's a bad vibe for you, but it's a great vibe for the Tennessee Titans. They haven't won a game this year.

They haven't looked competitive in most of them.

They're at the bottom of my power rankings for good reason, but they're playing a team that I think gives them an opportunity to win a football game. Indianapolis, 27th or worse in pretty much every major defensive category. Tennessee also bad, but if they're going to turn it around, this opponent is a good matchup for them, so I'm liking it.

All right, when we were doing our game picks, I'm kind of with you. I really gave it a thought. I was like, this team's going to get a win at some point this season, and it felt like this could be an opportunity. We'll see if Cam Ward can deliver a strike on the road against Indianapolis.

All right, our last one right here, and I'm going to go close to my heart. as somebody who spent the last seven years living in Cleveland. It's a big day in the rock and roll city. Cleveland rocks. You got the Browns hosting Lamar Jackson, less Baltimore Ravens. That's a good opportunity for the Browns to get back on the winning track and stay in the hunt for the AFC North.

Oh, just down across the street. Snoop's like, bite your tongue. Yeah, I mean, I have a lot of respect for him. Don't get me wrong.

A few blocks away, you got the Cleveland Guardians in game four of the ALCS. They're currently in a delay, but we'll see when they get started. They got a 2-1 lead. Everything's looking up, even if the clouds are a little gray in Cleveland right now.

Man, it's so crazy to me because before we get out here, Nick's on his phone and he's tracking weather.

I'm like, what are you looking at here? And, of course, you were focused in on the entire life. My entire life is built around this right now.

Yeah.

No, it's so good.

Look, I totally get it. It's a big weekend for this city. You picking a win here for Cleveland?

You know what?

I respect Snoop Huntley, but I think this defense probably doesn't get enough jobs. All right.

They'll be my adopted team. If the Mets aren't in, I'll just.

All right.

As long as you're happy. Stand guard. A lot of Dodgers fans in this building. Let me just tell you, it hasn't been great.

No.

We got you covered Sunday, 1130 a.m. Eastern time. It's game day previews.

Looking forward to getting you set for an entire slate of games in week number six.

Thanks so much for watching.
