[SPEAKER_00]: One of those will work. [SPEAKER_02]: That's one of those. [SPEAKER_00]: Wasler was this guy. [SPEAKER_00]: Made his wife so mad one day that that's probably as far as we should go. [SPEAKER_00]: She jumped off his weiner when he finally came to. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh man, I can't believe that song just like lives in the back of our brains.
[SPEAKER_01]: I can't wait to hear Isabelle's reaction because I doubt she saw that coming. [SPEAKER_00]: She don't what certainly didn't. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't that guy did either. [SPEAKER_00]: Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
[SPEAKER_00]: the first week of October because here's the road map that we that lines before us is I just got back from a wonderful trip to Dominican Republic with Alice where we had like a fun little like just couples vacation at like a all inclusive resort where I think we successfully relaxed [SPEAKER_00]: Wow, fully and completely.
[SPEAKER_01]: I like it completely. [SPEAKER_00]: I feel like I did nothing in the most entertaining way you could possibly do nothing. [SPEAKER_01]: That's fantastic. [SPEAKER_01]: Like so like you were just sitting there, were you like reading, were you listening to anything, or was it just like feet in pool eyes closed in sun?
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, no, I was listening to the wise man's fear. [SPEAKER_00]: Of course. [SPEAKER_00]: I was like, I was like, gosh, I have so many thoughts. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, I mean, I can't, it's been like one hot second since I've been like a really thick read through and sure enough, as always, I'm just like, I am there so much.
[SPEAKER_01]: Were you writing them notes? [SPEAKER_00]: I should have been writing down notes, but I'll be too much like work, and I can't be doing that, but I'm having so much fun at the same time. [SPEAKER_01]: Dude, I mean, if you're having fun right now, it's about name of the win, you know, that's just, who says it's work, you know?
[SPEAKER_00]: Who says it's work? [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, do you think it's any coincidence that mere tyrannial sounds an awful lot like tyrant, and then there's also the mayor. [SPEAKER_00]: Mayor tyrannical, mere tyrannical. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: I feel like mere tyrannials sounds like something else, doesn't it?
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you may, maybe it does. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, it doesn't matter. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_00]: But that was, yeah, just a sample of what's been going on through my mind. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, no, it was, it was really cool. [SPEAKER_00]: We went down to the Dominican Republic.
[SPEAKER_00]: We stayed in all inclusive resort and it was like just so wonderful. [SPEAKER_00]: Like the last time Allison, I did this, we had been dating for like six months. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, well, really. [SPEAKER_00]: Really early and I think it's going on in a national trip together. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and I think we were still kind of like working out some of the odds and ends of like early relationship types stuff and it was just like it was it was a very different trip and and like what's kind of funny is like on that one we were all I was like oh excursions like you know like you got to do the excursions while you're there.
[SPEAKER_00]: So like we did like like an ATV tour that was like you know [SPEAKER_00]: through these muddy banks of rivers and went through, you know, the sugar plantations or whatever they're called, like the fruits of sugar cane and then grows. [SPEAKER_00]: And that was, you know, just enlightening and it was oddly like cultural and, you know, you got to take in a lot and we went to the capital, Santa Domingo where we like, you know, went through and saw the history of where we were.
[SPEAKER_00]: That was super interesting. [SPEAKER_00]: But it was also like, you mean it kind of reminds me of like when you go to Disney it's like when you go to Disney it's like there's nothing relaxing about being at Disney because you're you're going so hard from sum up till sundown you're sundown you know you're throwing down tons of steps it's it's an experience and so coming into this one the only thing that we had booked was like a massage at the spa there you go and so like we were like let's just go and just like relax and man it was just like [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I was relaxing at like sixty miles an hour.
[SPEAKER_00]: It was, it was amazing. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm so glad to hear it. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm so glad to hear it. [SPEAKER_01]: You gotta do that sometimes and just like, I think you reach a point. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we're like, like, there aren't, we go on trips like Disney a lot where it's like, go there, get as much done.
[SPEAKER_01]: Actually posted a story last week on my Instagram that was like, there's four kinds of Disney people and it's like, you know, [SPEAKER_01]: Number one is like get as many rides done as possible, you know, whatever. [SPEAKER_01]: Number two is like just here for the vibes. [SPEAKER_01]: Number three was like, I only care about cosmic rewind and number four was like, just give me the food or something.
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: And then I was like, you know, I post them, like, you know, what, which one are you? [SPEAKER_01]: And I would say like, ninety percent of the people who respond were like, number one. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, like, ride as many rides as possible. [SPEAKER_01]: And it's like, which, which, [SPEAKER_01]: I think it like it makes sense to me like that that like I would love to be able to just be at Disney for the vibes, but it's like it's costing you so much to be there every minute, you know?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: It's like, you know, if I'm just here for the vibes, I could go to cheaper places for the vibes. [SPEAKER_00]: I know, but those vibes are such, I know. [SPEAKER_00]: But you're right, the vibe, they are good vibes. [SPEAKER_00]: That's the thing. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I think that that was like a paradigm adjustment.
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, like when Alice and I started dating, it's like, she is a total, like, stop. [SPEAKER_00]: It's Melrose is kind of person. [SPEAKER_00]: So it's like, I think that, like, for the most part, like, she could just like walk down like Main Street USA at Magic Kingdom and just sort of like, look at the shops and the lights and the activity and taking the smells and the castle is, you know, [SPEAKER_00]: the setting for your backdrop, you know, just sort of like a slow quiet meander, like maybe grab a choreo, why not?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but you know, then I think by like start comparison, like we would have grown up and it was sort of like run, run, you know, like get the gift of the photo line. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: single riders only right go go go go go so I don't know I think I've probably landed somewhere like in hybrid zone like that's that's where I think that like and I know I've talked about it in the past before but I we went on like a trip with you and Beth fair early on and I was like wow they they are here to play you know they are there [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, well we I mean now it's sort of weird because like we've been to Disney enough now that I feel like you can it is a little like you know it like I've done most of the things I wanted to multiple times sure so unless there's like something brand new or something where it's like it can it can be a little bit more vibesy at times right I don't mind like shopping as much and checking for the pins and doing stuff like that
[SPEAKER_00]: You don't mind I don't mind checking for the fans if I'm there for any other reason. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm just gonna say that's like don't don't slide it in there. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't mind. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't mind. [SPEAKER_01]: It's like we're going to den them see three on this con this bill here just passed yeah, Jay is here for the pins.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, no, yeah, but you're right. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so I did all I also though. [SPEAKER_01]: I saw a dangerous a dangerous real the other day that I was like oh boy, oh boy, and what it was was this couple in Ohio and they just were like we went on a one day Disney trip and like they get in and they like they flashed from Ohio Disney World and they basically are there until like two a.m.
[SPEAKER_01]: or something oh [SPEAKER_01]: But like they land they they go they leave in the morning from Ohio and they have like a one day Disney trip So I don't even think they go to sleep, you know, I think they just they they went down They magic kingdom hard all day until literal like closing it like two a.m.
[SPEAKER_01]: one of the nights I guess when they're open late or whatever Maybe they're open that late every night. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, but being there that late really clever Zach knew a lot of stuff sure [SPEAKER_01]: And then just high-tailed it back to the airport and flew back in the morning.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it was like, I don't even think that we're going for twenty-four hours. [SPEAKER_01]: You know? [SPEAKER_01]: Holy cow. [SPEAKER_01]: I know. [SPEAKER_01]: I was like, oh. [SPEAKER_01]: That could be fun. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, challenge extended. [SPEAKER_01]: Challenge extended. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, we could do that.
[SPEAKER_01]: We got, we got flights to Disney here. [SPEAKER_01]: We could do that. [SPEAKER_01]: We could do that. [SPEAKER_00]: How far could it be? [SPEAKER_01]: How could that be? [SPEAKER_01]: We could just stay up all night. [SPEAKER_01]: It would probably only wreck my sleep for like a month or something.
[SPEAKER_00]: I was gonna say, yeah, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: What was it half of last week's episode about like how we're getting old there? [SPEAKER_00]: We need to slow down. [SPEAKER_01]: nonsense. [SPEAKER_01]: I will say thank you guys so much for all of the emails, messages from last week regarding everything I was talking about about just like the entering the new season of life and stuff like that.
[SPEAKER_01]: It was all very heartwarming and very uplifting to read. [SPEAKER_01]: So if you sent me something, thank you so much. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think it's interesting with the pop in particular as a show that we do because [SPEAKER_00]: Like, it's interesting. [SPEAKER_00]: I think even especially being off social media a little bit.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's funny to walk around a little bit. [SPEAKER_00]: There's a contrast that is slowly started to build, where it's like you can see the effect that it's still having on other people. [SPEAKER_00]: And you're sort of like, help that sharing every aspect of their life on the internet. [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm sort of like, [SPEAKER_00]: That's what the pop is.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, I do think it's been, it's been so great because it's become such a fantastic outlet and community to match it. [SPEAKER_00]: I think for discussing these big stages of our life that we're going through. [SPEAKER_00]: It really is cool and wonderful that [SPEAKER_00]: you know, you can you can step into this arena, share these kinds of parts of your life, and then also discover that like lots of other people are going through like similar kinds of things.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And I think hearing that, you know, not only are you like it's it's like the community gets to do hopefully what, you know, as the host of the show, we're able to do for them in return, which I don't know, it really is it's it's really cool. [SPEAKER_00]: It's very like reciprocal.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: In a way that you wouldn't necessarily expect from a show where the audience doesn't always get the chance to like... Yeah, talk back. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Talk back. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So long, long, long story, long.
[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Big shout out to the little kernels out there. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you so much. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, speaking also of last week's episode been, I feel like since I came up with the phrase universal shopping, I feel like I've been able to like, it's been, I feel like I've got now that I have a word for it.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like that's happening again. [SPEAKER_01]: It's happening. [SPEAKER_01]: It's happening. [SPEAKER_01]: So like for example, as I'm sure you are aware, ever since moved into this office, the AC, the air conditioning has been loud, right? [SPEAKER_00]: It's been loud. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we've talked about a lot like the especially on the supercarlin, but they're said it just so happens to be the case that [SPEAKER_00]: like the the roof of our building obviously you know we're on a on like a third floor but that means that each of the floors beneath us have their own air conditioning units they're all on at like you know on our room right which there's nothing any of them can do about that there's no other place to put them in a building so it makes sense to throw up there but the supercar of the militant particular has a rather noisy and old air conditioner that is above it and
[SPEAKER_00]: That means that it's sort of like it vibrates and we just happen to be in the unique position of recording with highly sensitive microphones in the same space that then here is the vibration. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So it's been it's been a thing. [SPEAKER_01]: So it's loud.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's loud. [SPEAKER_01]: So we finally thought to make like, you know, we could like take some of that out and post with like software and stuff, but like we finally went and talked to our like land lady. [SPEAKER_01]: about it and she was like very helpful and started the process of, you know, going about and fixing it or whatever.
[SPEAKER_01]: But it was a lengthy process involving many trips out and in the meantime, it's been record heat here. [SPEAKER_01]: And so like the AC just stopped like stopped being able to even keep up. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so it's been it's been like hot in the office to the to the point where like you know we've had days where we're leaving and it's like eighty two degrees in the office and it's just sort of like this this is like not good condition not good conditions not just for us not just for filming not for like all the same for staff yeah, it's not it's not just too hot.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's just too hot [SPEAKER_01]: just too high so we went through and it like they got up there and of course like these are like fifteen-year-old AC units or whatever and the guys looking at it or not the people who installed it and they're having like reverse engineer everything and and then that's like all if you look at the lights which is on our office none of them make sense so they're all connected to the wrong things and [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's really bonkers.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the other thing, too, is that like, since again, you're talking about like a building, it's like, if you want to like change the AC at your house normally, it's on like a little concrete pad, like, you know, next to the house on the ground. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Here, it's fifty feet in the air.
[SPEAKER_00]: So if somebody wants to replace it, you literally have to bring a crane into downtown to lift an extract or deliver a new unit. [SPEAKER_00]: to replace one. [SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: Huge, huge, huge annoying thing. [SPEAKER_01]: And like, there would be times, you know, where we would, we would do what we could.
[SPEAKER_01]: We would cover the sunrise to like, let in less sunlight. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, we would, we have like fans going. [SPEAKER_01]: And there'd be days that like even overnight, we come in the next day still really hot. [SPEAKER_01]: Or, you know, there'd be a big thunderstorm of the weekend.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the power would blip for like half a second. [SPEAKER_01]: But the AC wouldn't come back on. [SPEAKER_01]: And you'd be like, oh my gosh, you'd spend like four days waiting for the AC to finally catch up with the heat again. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: Only for some new annoying thing to happen.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, and then we also turn it off every time we film specifically to cut down on the noise. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: So that it means that like even if you managed to get it to go from seventy eight down to seventy seven, then you turn off, you turn everything off for like forty minutes.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And then it's up to back up again. [SPEAKER_00]: So. [SPEAKER_01]: It's warm. [SPEAKER_01]: But so two weeks ago, I would say, they replaced it, they put in new, new, what, free on, free on, and it was, it was firing on all cylinders. [SPEAKER_01]: It was glorious.
[SPEAKER_01]: It was chilly, even in the office. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, like when I was getting dressed in the morning, I was like, I should probably bring like a light jacket. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, it's like, it's like going to the movie theater, they are playing. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like you probably need something to be like a little like warmer.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I was like, and it was such a sigh of relief. [SPEAKER_01]: It was like, oh my goodness. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, it's fixed. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, it, it's cool in here again. [SPEAKER_01]: But sure enough, Ben, sure enough, as sure as we spent months fixing it, I woke up, I, I walked into the office this morning to a ball me, eighty degrees.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, what on earth? [SPEAKER_01]: happened and I go and look at the thermostat and it's just blank and I'm like what and I take it off the wall I put it back on the wall. [SPEAKER_01]: It's everything looks like it's plugged in appropriately the numbers pop back up and I go to change it and nothing happens.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, nothing comes on at all. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm like are you kidding me? [SPEAKER_01]: What is going is the thermostat itself now malfunctioning instead of the AC unit right like what [SPEAKER_01]: What what what like this was this is the universal jumping it's like it's great that you guys fixed it, but you're not it's not supposed to be fixed, you know, you know, it's supposed to be hot up there.
[SPEAKER_01]: So good job. [SPEAKER_01]: We're gonna find a new way to ruin it. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: and so sure and I don't know why this is the case but like the and I mean it's like this is this is where I feel like there's there's no there's no easy way to start learning like weird solve the things other than just being like you know like living as an adult through problems and slowly discovering like [SPEAKER_00]: various solutions to things.
[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, so I went, you know, I went to like this closet and like our air conditioning unit thing is like literally I don't know what will ever happen the day that comes if it needs to be like replaced because it is so tucked in there like I almost think they like built the place where they put it and then built walls around it with no intention of it ever leaving because [SPEAKER_00]: I had to like, you know, squirm by way, I was like, spelunking in the wall trying to get to the air conditioning unit and the pan underneath the air conditioner just full of water, which basically has like a sensor that if it fills up so that it doesn't end up like flooding the building, able automatically cut off the air conditioner, but then I had to go in like borrow
[SPEAKER_00]: Like a shot back from, you know, like the aquarium guys, like over, you know, in downtown and it's just like a whole thing where it's like great down here to go and like shot back that out. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like, so technically down it's working again, but I have literally no idea if we've like even solved the problem.
[SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: Have you just treated the symptoms? [SPEAKER_01]: Are you gonna fill up again? [SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: Are we gonna come into tomorrow when it's just gonna be like, well, this is just like what we do now. [SPEAKER_01]: Right, yeah, every morning we just shop back it out and then the AC works again like it's like that feels like what it's gonna be Yeah, and it's just gonna be like no Okay, you can't it can't be fixed and easy and normal like it's supposed to be it's gotta be something annoying I had okay, I had another situation this past week over the weekend over the week.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, okay. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah [SPEAKER_01]: So, as can happen, when you've used the same sink for a long time, you can let your bathroom sink, you can get a little clogged, you know? [SPEAKER_01]: Sure. [SPEAKER_01]: Suddenly the water's not drained and so fast, you know?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: So both me and Beth's sinks were kind of getting a little bit slow on the drain as it were. [SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, I know what the answer is going to be. [SPEAKER_01]: We're going to have to go go one of those gross snake things and stick it down the drain and pull up just to the worst image on Earth.
[SPEAKER_01]: Right, like hair and gunk and whatever. [SPEAKER_00]: You've seen a horror movie. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that. [SPEAKER_01]: I know what's in the drain. [SPEAKER_01]: And I know that's the answer. [SPEAKER_01]: And so I'm like, you know, I find, you know, I'm like looking out how to pull up the stopper and it's like a lot of times it's like just twist and pull or just pull it up.
[SPEAKER_01]: It just comes right out or whatever. [SPEAKER_01]: Mine was not and had like a whole pinion system in the back and had to go like unscrew it from the back of the line and, you know, do a whole, there was like a little bit of a process to it. [SPEAKER_01]: Nothing too complicated. [SPEAKER_01]: And you got it.
[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, I got that out. [SPEAKER_01]: No problem. [SPEAKER_01]: No problem. [SPEAKER_01]: I felt proud of myself for doing that. [SPEAKER_01]: It was like the lightest amount of plumbing you could do. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And I got like I got the snake and even got these like little like like flush flush.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what they're called. [SPEAKER_01]: Like some some always clear. [SPEAKER_01]: They're like little chips. [SPEAKER_01]: You like poured out of the drain. [SPEAKER_01]: And then you like poor hot water on them. [SPEAKER_01]: And I went and my friend recommended this thing was like, oh, we do boiling water.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, that sounds like, yeah, intense. [SPEAKER_01]: So I even boiled water. [SPEAKER_01]: I poured it down the drain and you could hear it like, you know, I was like, well, sounds like things are happening down there. [SPEAKER_01]: I just break and stuff down or whatever. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, so I go and I do that and I'm like, and I screw everything back together and I turn the water on and I go straight and who I I get the snakes and I pull out the gunk on both sinks and it is as gross as you think it's going to be.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Great. [SPEAKER_01]: Hope I got rid of it turn on the sink immediately starts draining and I'm like boom, I did it. [SPEAKER_01]: It was genius or genius or what that I always had to unscrew one thing pull out one gross clog [SPEAKER_01]: you know clear out the rest of the the minor debris with my little my my little chips which oh I can go back to that second book um I was like I did that was like I felt so good like they just worked so perfectly now until the next day when Beth comes home and she's like running and she's like I think something's dripping and she goes and looks under and sure enough waters just overflowing out of the U-bend now and I'm like
[SPEAKER_01]: This doesn't even make sense. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, how could this be? [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't even touch the part waters coming out of, you know? [SPEAKER_00]: Interesting. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, this is like the P trap underneath this. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, yeah, it goes now and comes up. [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, there's like, it looks like it's like backing up and now like, emerging out of there. [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, what it looks like is like that the clogged used to be up on the upper half of the sink.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it would get stuck there and slowly drain past that. [SPEAKER_01]: But now maybe like when I shoved the snake down it like push it further back and now it's clogging further along in the system and like that's causing it to like erupt out of here because now like water's not supposed to build up there or something that's all I could figure I don't know so I'm like okay I'm gonna have to get a little bit more [SPEAKER_01]: Fancy here.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, because I don't want to call a plumber just yet. [SPEAKER_01]: So I got read the disassemble everything and it's pretty easy to take like the little you shit the p-trap that's what it's called. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, well I'll take the p-trap completely off and I look at that and it's like clean as a whistle and I'm like well [SPEAKER_01]: That stuff worked.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's no doubt the stuff worked. [SPEAKER_01]: There's nothing in here. [SPEAKER_01]: And then I stick the snake in the rest of the pipe like does the clog back here or something? [SPEAKER_01]: Nothing completely clean. [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, what on earth is going on? [SPEAKER_01]: Because I didn't even touch this valve, you know?
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, and here's what I think happened is that when I poured the chips down, there had been enough gunk and build up that it was like actually creating the seal, the seal itself. [SPEAKER_01]: And so I burned away the the slime seal exactly and now this new problem which must have been a problem to begin with but it concealed itself behind the slime So now I had to complete so basically I think whoever initially screwed it in had like just missed the Cross thread or something yes [SPEAKER_01]: so then I had to like take it completely off and then reattach it but like reattaching it wasn't even was like took a whole learning curve too because like you had to do them at the same time but like that you had to do this one first and it would only fit if you did this side first but then the other side wasn't lined up because like you know I know it's like what is going on here but eventually I I I trial and error my way through it I
[SPEAKER_01]: assembled everything back together, reinstall the trainer and boom, and now perfectly works. [SPEAKER_01]: No links, no leaks at all. [SPEAKER_01]: I was like, oh man, I felt so good. [SPEAKER_00]: Just for you, Jay. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Wow. [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
[SPEAKER_01]: I know. [SPEAKER_01]: I cleaned the drain of my sink. [SPEAKER_00]: Wow. [SPEAKER_01]: I know. [SPEAKER_00]: I know two sinks. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: That's really impressive. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, thank you. [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_00]: I wonder when the Netflix show for home is going to call you to come out and participate in their games.
[SPEAKER_01]: I know. [SPEAKER_01]: But it is like, it's like minorly intimidating to go start taking the pipes apart, you know. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, it is. [SPEAKER_01]: We've never done it. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: And then I was like, OK, then I was feeling good because I thought this stuff works so good.
[SPEAKER_01]: I was going to go at the boys' tub. [SPEAKER_01]: If you can imagine also a bit of a slow drain, you know. [SPEAKER_01]: But it was slow drain. [SPEAKER_00]: I can only imagine. [SPEAKER_01]: I like to unplug it. [SPEAKER_01]: Go away for the weekend. [SPEAKER_01]: It's empty. [SPEAKER_01]: Who wants a bath?
[SPEAKER_00]: Who wants a bath? [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: We'll take another one in five days. [SPEAKER_01]: I know. [SPEAKER_01]: When they've got like, what are those like, like toe touch things? [SPEAKER_01]: Like, like, stoppers. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, so if you're taking a shower, you just like plug it and then you put it up again.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, I'm looking up everything. [SPEAKER_01]: How to take it off. [SPEAKER_01]: And everything's like, oh, yeah, if it doesn't have that, like, the little metal top that'll just screw off. [SPEAKER_01]: And then you can get to like the bolt and then you unscrew the bolts and that the drain will lift out.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, okay, that's [SPEAKER_01]: You know, okay easy. [SPEAKER_00]: Got it. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: Got it. [SPEAKER_01]: Got it. [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like they're like, you know, you should be out if it's if it if it if you can't twist it off my hand, it probably means like enough sentiment is build up that you need to get some tools to like twist it or whatever.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm like, okay, I've got tools. [SPEAKER_01]: I got tools. [SPEAKER_00]: Name them. [SPEAKER_00]: I got it. [SPEAKER_01]: You what do you need? [SPEAKER_01]: Do you drive pliers wrench? [SPEAKER_01]: You know, we could do this. [SPEAKER_01]: Hey, yeah, so go now and I get my wrench or my pliers or whatever and I put it on there and I start to like try and twist it and it turns out it's just made of like the flimsyest metal and like it is just like bending the metal and ripping stuff off of it and I'm like this is way worse like it is not turning at all, you know, and I'm like it and I do it like like [SPEAKER_01]: How many things could you possibly need to do?
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, I don't know how to get this off of here now. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, is it not just like a present twist, which it wasn't? [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, okay, I'm making sharp edges on the metal, which seems unsafe for my kids taking a bath in here. [SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, no big deal, no big deal.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I'm gonna do? [SPEAKER_01]: I'm just gonna use my fancy little chips. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm just gonna pour them down the drain, pour the water down there, they'll blast through some gunk or something for whatever. [SPEAKER_01]: and of course like they don't go in super well so I'm pouring it down and trying to like shove it with my fingers and that's when I this is when I learn that you shouldn't touch it because it's like soup it's like real like and then if you read the bottle which I should have done it's like can cause severe skin burns and I'm like oh god oh I didn't think about the chemical burns oh no you're just pushing it around my head [SPEAKER_01]: So then my I was totally fine.
[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't touch it enough, but like I think it had a reaction with like my nails and I was like they were kind of like a little crispy And it still doesn't drain so they didn't work. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh Anyway, there was my adventures. [SPEAKER_00]: I think you should start vlogging your home repairs.
[SPEAKER_01]: I probably should probably should [SPEAKER_00]: People are going to be like, don't do that! [SPEAKER_00]: I know, I know, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: This is always what I feel like it's like where it's like your, your, it's like, you're in a dark room wandering around looking for the door knob.
[SPEAKER_00]: Everybody else looking is able to use night vision so they know exactly where it is and you know exactly how close you've gone and they're just sort of like, wait, no, don't do it. [SPEAKER_00]: You were right there. [SPEAKER_01]: You're right there. [SPEAKER_00]: You're right there. [SPEAKER_00]: Then you put your hand in the chips.
[SPEAKER_01]: I was a mistake. [SPEAKER_00]: I was like, enjoy the chemical prints. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, enjoy that. [SPEAKER_01]: And of course, you think it's just hot because of the boiling water, but it's not. [SPEAKER_01]: It's other kinds of hot. [SPEAKER_01]: It's other kinds of hot. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, very uncomfortable.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, well, well, but you made it through. [SPEAKER_01]: I made it through. [SPEAKER_00]: So you think you're being universally shoved into pipe repair? [SPEAKER_01]: Well, no, I think the fact that I like the drain was like, [SPEAKER_01]: Like it was clogged and then I fixed it and then the new problem arose in the same spot.
[SPEAKER_00]: I was just like see the word it's like the universe is like that sinks just not supposed to work is what it feels like so when I when I came in this morning and I'm trying to troubleshoot the the air conditioner and I'm like well I think the drain pipe wasn't working were you like you got to be kidding me [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I know.
[SPEAKER_01]: I was just like, of course it's not. [SPEAKER_01]: Of course it's not. [SPEAKER_01]: Whatever you do to fix it, it won't matter. [SPEAKER_01]: A month from now is just gonna be broken again. [SPEAKER_01]: For a new reason. [SPEAKER_01]: It's like, it could be like, no, it's not gonna be like, it can't because everything's new and like, we were placed this.
[SPEAKER_01]: So you guys should be good. [SPEAKER_01]: And it'd be like, we should be good, you're right. [SPEAKER_01]: But that's when the building gets stuck with lightning or something. [SPEAKER_01]: And you're like, oh yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And we need to be good if it weren't for some free accident.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, that's all. [SPEAKER_01]: That's all universal shoving. [SPEAKER_01]: You know what's happened? [SPEAKER_01]: Or like Isabelle's car is about for the longest time when it was about her car was breaking down all the time. [SPEAKER_01]: Well in different unique ways different unique ways.
[SPEAKER_00]: So when she went she first started working here. [SPEAKER_00]: She had like her like, you know, I guess like first car. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And she was driving like an hour commute. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, because she had you know, graduated college up at Virginia Tech and had to come into Rowan Oak to work.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, hadn't fully moved here yet. [SPEAKER_00]: What she has done. [SPEAKER_00]: But that meant that she was kind of driving this like old car through like a particularly like aggressive stretch of interstate eighty one. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you've never driven on it before. [SPEAKER_00]: It's it's an experience.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but like it's it's like [SPEAKER_00]: It asks for your car to be taxed a lot because you're like she's driving up a mountain every day. [SPEAKER_00]: It's kind of like an older vehicle and like things were already like breaking down. [SPEAKER_00]: I think I think like back during the pandemic there was like a situation where people were like stealing catalytic converters because they've got like a [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: I have some type of precious metal inside of them, and it's really easy to steal them. [SPEAKER_00]: You basically just crawl underneath the vehicle with a reciprocating saw and just like, man, where? [SPEAKER_00]: And then it's like, you know, you've got it.
[SPEAKER_00]: And you just break it down for the metals. [SPEAKER_00]: And it's like, ha ha, but don't do that, obviously. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, a very unkind thing to do. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So I mean, I think that her vehicle was like hurting in a variety of ways. [SPEAKER_00]: And then rather comically, I guess she'd worked here for like a year and she like finally went out and got like a new car.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: And then, promptly, I think she was hanging out with one of her friends who, like, lives on, like, I think this is just correct on a farm. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, on a farm. [SPEAKER_00]: And a horse ran by her car and ripped the side view mirror off. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_00]: And it was just sort of, like, what? [SPEAKER_01]: I know, yes. [SPEAKER_00]: That doesn't really happen. [SPEAKER_01]: That doesn't really happen. [SPEAKER_01]: But I think, like, on her old car, like, she had, like, she, like, duct tape the mirror into place. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, yes.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: It was, like, oh, my god, I got a new car, everything works. [SPEAKER_01]: I have a mirror. [SPEAKER_01]: That's not hold on to like duct tape. [SPEAKER_01]: And it's just like, or do you? [SPEAKER_01]: Or do you? [SPEAKER_01]: Or do you? [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, and I'm like, and I'm like, and I'm like, and I'm like, and I'm like, and I'm like, and I'm like, and I'm like, and I'm like, and I'm like, and I'm like, and I'm like, and I'm like, and I'm like, and I'm like, and I'm like, and I'm like, and I'm like, and I'm like, and I'm like, and I'm like, and I'm like, and I'm like, and I'm like, and I'm like, and I'm like, and I'm like, and I'm like, and I'm like, and I'm like, and I'm like, and I'm like, and I'm like, and I'm like, and I'm like, and I'm like, and I'm like, and I'm like, and I'm like, and I'm like, and I'm like, and I'm like, and
[SPEAKER_00]: And a horse in a new car got hit by a horse exactly like that doesn't happen That doesn't happen, right? [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, and I think it's because the horse was like like spooked, you know too. [SPEAKER_00]: So like that means like some other odd thing like she wasn't actually driving the car was parked.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, you broke you [SPEAKER_00]: You broke it. [SPEAKER_00]: You weren't even in it. [SPEAKER_00]: You weren't even moving. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah universal shoving man universal shoving. [SPEAKER_01]: Let us know your experiences with this was just like a problem or no matter how much you fix it it is determined to be broke.
[SPEAKER_00]: It just keeps being more and more and more [SPEAKER_01]: I have articles of clothing like this. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yes. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, that it's like like sometimes I will get like a new shirt and I'll be like man. [SPEAKER_01]: I really like this shirt and like I'll be excited to like have worn it and I'll be like okay [SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna lose this shirt.
[SPEAKER_01]: I will lose track of it. [SPEAKER_01]: I will not be able to find it. [SPEAKER_01]: Right, you know. [SPEAKER_01]: It's like, I don't know why. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know why. [SPEAKER_01]: Every like three months on a pop-up, I'm like, oh my gosh, no, we're putting the hamper and then it's gone again.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, where was that? [SPEAKER_01]: And it's like, who knows? [SPEAKER_01]: Who knows? [SPEAKER_01]: It went through some wormhole. [SPEAKER_01]: It'll be back. [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe. [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe it's just gone. [SPEAKER_00]: It's just... [SPEAKER_00]: There it is. [SPEAKER_00]: If it's anything like that one pair of shoes will me replace the releg underneath your bed.
[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe they're just like tucked in between the two under bed storage containers. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Those shoes. [SPEAKER_01]: I wore them hilariously. [SPEAKER_01]: They have now ended up in another section of my house where like you wouldn't think to look for shoes.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, so you just. [SPEAKER_00]: Those shoes. [SPEAKER_00]: I see them. [SPEAKER_00]: I see them. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm like every now and then I should bring those upstairs and then I don't. [SPEAKER_01]: But. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, because those shoes had the stigma, you know, they've got it.
[SPEAKER_01]: They've got they're being shoved away. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't like it smells of stigma. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's like those shoes Good luck my slippers are always like this with me. [SPEAKER_01]: I can't own slippers. [SPEAKER_00]: I've just stopped trying Okay, you want to know something I am salty about this because Alice I'm gonna be salty [SPEAKER_00]: It's all set up.
[SPEAKER_00]: Alice made a comment the other day that it was like, you never walked barefoot outside and I was like, what? [SPEAKER_00]: Excuse me. [SPEAKER_00]: And I, right, I mean, so like, you know, like, we grew up with a gravel driveway gravel. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, you know, I don't mean to like, you know, try to, to our own horn to aggressively or anything.
[SPEAKER_00]: But like, there's that like, what is it like the SpongeBob thing where he's like, I nails for breakfast. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, without any milk. [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, that's us. [SPEAKER_00]: That's us. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, it's like, I have run barefoot on a gravel driveway for my whole childhood.
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, no being bright. [SPEAKER_01]: I learned to play basketball barefoot on a gravel driveway. [SPEAKER_01]: I learned to dribble on gravel. [SPEAKER_01]: You know? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: That's why we're so good now. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: We are ballers.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're so good at basketball. [SPEAKER_00]: But well, you're better than me. [SPEAKER_00]: But anyway, let's see, that's a low bar. [SPEAKER_00]: By the way, like an incredibly low bar. [SPEAKER_00]: Like my basketball prowess is probably as good as my archery prowess, which is [SPEAKER_01]: Which is not like I had a bow and arrow growing up.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, this is bad example. [SPEAKER_00]: That example. [SPEAKER_01]: I know I bet you're better than like having owned a bow and arrow that we were able to like go in the back yard and shoot every now and then probably makes you better than like eighty percent of people with a bow and arrow.
[SPEAKER_00]: Alright, let me reframe. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm better at archery than basketball and have shot a bow and arrow since I was like twelve. [SPEAKER_00]: That can't be. [SPEAKER_00]: How what for do you shooting bows and arrows? [SPEAKER_01]: No, but if you can't you can't me. [SPEAKER_01]: I think I think you're better at basketball than you think.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, no, I'm not. [SPEAKER_00]: No, I'm so bad. [SPEAKER_00]: It is not, it is not my sport. [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, barefootedness. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So somewhere along the way, when Alice and I first started dating, I want to say it was probably like one of the first or second Christmas's that we were together, where it was kind of like we had been together long enough that it was like, you know, it made sense like for her mom to get me like a Christmas gift.
[SPEAKER_00]: and so what she got me was a pair of like house slippers and I remember being like whoa I'm not really like a house slippers cat a person but you know this is awesome yeah and I'm excited to like break a man yeah I'm gonna use them and I think because you know it was like it was like a gift from a loved one I was like yeah I'm gonna use them [SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so since then, like I went through that whole pair, they got like, you know, battered to bits and, you know, just basically used enough to wear like they kind of went by the wayside. [SPEAKER_00]: And then I was like, you know what, I'm gonna buy like a nice pair of like the like Eddie Bauer ones or whatever made out of who knows what some type of [SPEAKER_00]: Fun fur like play it all something yeah, yeah, I don't know like you know they they seem they seem nice they got like the little fuzzies around the they got the fuzzies Yeah, yeah, yeah And you know, so like I'd wear those and it was the same thing like I think I liked the idea of like getting up in the morning and sort of like I would always put him back and like the same spot in my room so like every morning I go back to the exact same spot and put him back on again boom
[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm sort until like Alice makes us comment the other day and she's like like yeah, you were like she's like I can't believe you're outside barefoot. [SPEAKER_00]: You weren't never outside barefoot. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm like the only reason I'm outside in anything other wise any way because of the gift from you know like the thing I was I've like and I don't know like you don't think I'm like a barefoot kind of person outside and she's like no she's like this is like a huge part of who you are like you are not barefoot outside I'm like what?
[SPEAKER_00]: You know she said it was a huge part of who you are huge part of the way [SPEAKER_01]: Ben, Ben, I mean, I'd be like, do you even know me? [SPEAKER_00]: I thought you felt like that. [SPEAKER_00]: I was like, I feel like I feel like something has gone a skew here. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: And so now, now, I mean, you know in your soul that you're a barefoot person.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a barefoot kind of person. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: So now, now it's like when the garbage needs to go out like, I don't care if it's like raining or somebody needs like spilled brass text all over my sidewalk. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, I take my slippers off and I take them out.
[SPEAKER_00]: I took them out barefoot on purpose. [SPEAKER_00]: Boom. [SPEAKER_00]: Boom, bam. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Mike just breaks some bottles out there just to really drive home the point. [SPEAKER_00]: That's exactly it. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, yeah, but we don't do that. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I was like, you know, but I could not believe it.
[SPEAKER_00]: I was like this, what, what, when did this happen? [SPEAKER_00]: When did I go wrong? [SPEAKER_01]: No, I understand. [SPEAKER_01]: I feel like this is exactly what I was talking about last week. [SPEAKER_01]: It's like, you, you know in your soul that this is, this is who you are. [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_01]: You're this guy. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm, like, I'm barefoot all the time. [SPEAKER_01]: What do you mean? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not afraid to people aren't picking up, but you know about yourself. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna walk through the grass.
[SPEAKER_00]: No problem. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I'll be good. [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, speaking of this on the exact same note. [SPEAKER_00]: So we have talked on numerous occasions as well about our like a sponsor on supercarlambillers in the Spicebook post. [SPEAKER_00]: Also just the company.
[SPEAKER_00]: I've you know, kind of had fun subscribing to. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Well before they respond to the show, but they tend to sell like [SPEAKER_00]: very often small little like everyday carry kinds of items that are like usually like I don't know maybe a little rugged inspired or you know they're they're like cool or whatever and one of the things that I got once upon a time was this like really cool pair of like tweezers you know you know how everybody has a cool pair of tweezers yeah I love a good pair of tweezers mine are Revlon [SPEAKER_01]: Nice.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I should get you a pair of these tweezers. [SPEAKER_01]: I know we were I was I was I needed tweezers. [SPEAKER_01]: I think it was at the beach one time and Luke kind of splinter and mom had these like they're like you know they're like makeup tweezers.
[SPEAKER_01]: I like Revlon sure. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Every pair of tweezers have ever had has been like out of like you know the first aid kit or whatever and they've just been the worst. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: But these, I was like, I mean, I pulled, I think Luke had like two slivers and I was like boom, I was like, these were so good.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's like an example of like tweezers, like, of course the makeup industry has put a ton of effort into making good tweezers because it's like how like the gaming industry has pushed forward like computer graphics. [SPEAKER_01]: in a way that regular computers have not and it's like yeah yeah like tweezers are good in a wide application but it's actually the beauty world that's pushing them forward in a way that's like these are good.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well I mean literally the most valuable company in the world right now is Nvidia which used to make like well I mean still doing computer chips right yeah yeah yeah and they were they were driven forward by [SPEAKER_00]: the gaming industry, but now they are like this mega thing in the world of AI, and it doesn't matter.
[SPEAKER_00]: But you're exactly right. [SPEAKER_00]: It's interesting when a niche use case, which is to say the game is not niche, but it's interesting when something like that [SPEAKER_00]: It's like the world of who knows like computer processors and super computers and other important sounding server farm rooms.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, coin mining. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know all those types of things. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like they rely on these chips and it's like they were built so that people could play Call of Duty better. [SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, well, so I mean, really the main thing is that like, you know, I was like, I had these tweezers.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I mean, like, they were like a small add on to what was probably some other like more, you know, obvious offering that bespoke post had in their box that month where it was like, [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I get this cool wool sweater and we'll also send you this pair of tweezers just to kind of cap off the value.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And it's sort of like nice. [SPEAKER_00]: And so I remember I went and put them in the center console of my truck and I was like, I carry in tea. [SPEAKER_00]: The day will come someday when I need these tweezers. [SPEAKER_00]: And it was sort of like they never really came and I had never used them.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then last week, Addy was just like walking barefoot, you know. [SPEAKER_00]: like like a colon like her dad. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Just in our house and she was like, oh, and you know, like immediately stepped on something and she got like a little cut on her foot. [SPEAKER_00]: And you know, so we're like trying to figure it out, we're trying to figure it out or whatever.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so we're soaking her foot, you know, in like warm water in the sink or whatever. [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like, aha, I know just the thing. [SPEAKER_00]: I know. [SPEAKER_00]: And so I went outside and we didn't even know if anything had actually happened to her. [SPEAKER_00]: She just clearly had like a small cut on her foot.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So I come back inside and I've got her magnifying glass, which is like, you know, she took this like wicker basket that she carries around the house with like a few odd men's in it and one of the things happens to be a magnifying glass. [SPEAKER_00]: I understand. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: It's a very regular child behavior. [SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: These are my things. [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like, so like, Adi's like crying with her foot in this like bowl in the kitchen sink or whatever. [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like, Adi, where's your magnifying glass?
[SPEAKER_00]: And she's like, she immediately like breaks character and she's like, oh, it's in my basket. [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like, [SPEAKER_00]: I've got it. [SPEAKER_00]: I'll be right back. [SPEAKER_00]: So I've got my magnifying glass. [SPEAKER_00]: I've got my tweezers and I go through and I'm like looking at it and it's like you see like a shiny dot like right where like the little like you know pin prick is on her flip.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and it's like you can't really tell if it's just like a like a bead of like you know like a little blood like that's like pointing out or if it's something else. [SPEAKER_00]: So I got the magnifying glass. [SPEAKER_00]: I got the tweezers and I'm going through and I go to pull it out and it is the most satisfying like glass sliver.
[SPEAKER_00]: ever. [SPEAKER_00]: That comes out, but man, these tweezers, I'm gonna have to link them because they were, I was like, these were amazing. [SPEAKER_00]: They did exactly what they were supposed to do. [SPEAKER_00]: And I was like, how about that? [SPEAKER_01]: It is worth having a good pair of tweezers.
[SPEAKER_01]: From Revlon. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, from Revlon. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, from where, or the ones you're talking about, but yes, when we were, when we were growing up, the tweezers were one of these stigma items. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Like they had the stink on them. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, they just like, you know, like, we had them, sure, in theory.
[SPEAKER_00]: They existed. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: Where where they were? [SPEAKER_00]: No one knew Einstein was able to use one of this chalkboards to theorize users. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like I mean, but like but like to actually get there in the end. [SPEAKER_01]: Who knew where they were in any given moment like it felt like anytime I needed them they weren't where they should be.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: What I remember is that we had these we had like like Swiss army knives growing up and you know like they've they've got like all the little dude ads. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, let's go slider for the tweezers. [SPEAKER_00]: There's a little slider for the tweezers. [SPEAKER_00]: Just one size of toothpick that I guess you could like reuse.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, which although I think it's like the world's worst toothpick. [SPEAKER_00]: Sure. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I'm I'm calling you out right now Swiss army knife company get like up your toothpick game. [SPEAKER_02]: Up it. [SPEAKER_00]: and art is it to be fair you may be haves since nineteen ninety eight when I last had one of these knives but uh... back then you know it it left it was a little it was a little lacking my personal opinion uh... in addition to that the tweezers it was sort of like they they had to be small enough to fit the form factor of [SPEAKER_00]: the knife situation.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the end result was that they were just extremely lousy. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And I feel like what ended up happening was like you almost just had to like gouge the person in order to like get the get the splinter out. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So it's like you're kind of just using it as like a shark.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they were not they were not particularly useful and they were highly loosable. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you're right. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'll have to go and try to track down my old mild Swiss army knife. [SPEAKER_01]: Was that like that like blue one? [SPEAKER_01]: Is that what you're thinking?
[SPEAKER_00]: Mine was red and it had a it had my name engraved on the blade. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Actually, I mean, I don't want to put too much pressure on Isabelle, but we have the home footage from when I first received it. [SPEAKER_00]: I think for my tenth birthday.
[SPEAKER_00]: Wow. [SPEAKER_00]: While we were at the what's rain forest cafe? [SPEAKER_01]: Wow, a place I'm never going back. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, right. [SPEAKER_01]: See the older episodes. [SPEAKER_00]: You're not a fan. [SPEAKER_00]: Not a fan, but I'm pretty sure I go a swiss army knife. [SPEAKER_00]: Nice.
[SPEAKER_00]: And that exact in that exact. [SPEAKER_00]: Wow. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, is it a ball to find it now? [SPEAKER_01]: Right here. [SPEAKER_01]: And you can see how close it was. [SPEAKER_00]: I could see here like like sitting at her desk getting to this point in the in the edit being like just like staring at the ceiling being like first the AC doesn't work now you want me to go dig through your home movies.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's right sorry [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, it'll be great. [SPEAKER_01]: It'll be super good. [SPEAKER_01]: My kids, I took, there was a, the big lit comicon was at the, at the concert venue. [SPEAKER_01]: You used to work at. [SPEAKER_01]: And I took Luke and Nate to it. [SPEAKER_01]: Nick had to go to a birthday party.
[SPEAKER_01]: so they came with me and it was really fun walking around you know there's there's you know just hundreds of booths in there to go to like look at all like that all the nerdy stuff and every single booth is like oh my god what's this how much does this call whatever where they allowed to buy something [SPEAKER_01]: that I allowed each of them to spend like twenty bucks.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I was like, there's no way I can like take them to this event and make them walk past a hundred vendors worth of fun things and just be like, sorry, you don't have anybody. [SPEAKER_00]: No, no, no. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that's like there's there's two schools of thought there.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's either go knowing that you're going to have to let them choose something or don't come at all. [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't feel like it's on the child for being tempted by all the booths that have extremely tempting things. [SPEAKER_01]: I know.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: So I was that was fine. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, I was like, I mean, you don't go to Comic Con to just to not buy stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I got some got to get some things. [SPEAKER_01]: But we got to one there.
[SPEAKER_01]: So there was this weird dichotomy that happened in the world of of blades as it were. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_00]: Like bay blades. [SPEAKER_01]: Nope, not blades, like sharp things. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so, and there was one booth that was a larping booth, like live actors role playing, right?
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, and they were, it was a very fun booth. [SPEAKER_01]: It was like a little bit bigger, and they were just yelling out, you know, like, oh, come play with all the weapons. [SPEAKER_01]: Kids are welcome to play too, or whatever. [SPEAKER_01]: And they just had, I mean, a hundred different rubber weapons.
[SPEAKER_01]: like of every shape and form and hilarity so like some of them just look like you know pretty regular swords but like some of them would be like a you know Harley Quinn style hammer or something that was like massive or some were just like fish or some were just like baguettes or wrenches or you know like a rubber chicken or they just all sorts of like you know hilarious things giant things small things throwing knives ninja stars you name it you know all sorts of stuff [SPEAKER_01]: This place came to play this live action role play exactly they really did and I mean Luke and Nate were having a blast at this one picking up every different kind of you know rubber weapon they could and whack and dad with it nice which Luke Luke did mention get me in the stomach with one of the bigger hammers at one point and I was like
[SPEAKER_01]: Nice one so good. [SPEAKER_01]: We're good. [SPEAKER_01]: That was a good one. [SPEAKER_01]: You got me. [SPEAKER_00]: That's a kid who grew up barefoot. [SPEAKER_01]: That's a kid. [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: So they were just having an absolute blast with it.
[SPEAKER_01]: And ultimately, there were somewhat like the little rubber throwing knives or whatever. [SPEAKER_01]: We're like twelve dollars or something. [SPEAKER_01]: So I thought for sure, someone was going to walk away with a little fun toy knife or whatever. [SPEAKER_01]: Sure. [SPEAKER_01]: And they did not look ended up wanting to buy like a squishy avocado or something from there which you know he did play with so there was that okay But so it was so fun to do because they had so much fun playing with all the swords and stuff until until we got we walked around a little bit more and found a different booth that was selling like swords you know like ropper you know like these are sharp and like Luke was like looking at him and I was like you know like the guy I think he's you know he's the
[SPEAKER_01]: His job is lifeguard all day. [SPEAKER_01]: He's just like those are sharp. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, like those are real. [SPEAKER_01]: These are real. [SPEAKER_01]: They're not like props. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, right? [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I don't want Luke to just be kidding.
[SPEAKER_01]: Don't pick these up because these are like actually sharp. [SPEAKER_01]: And as soon as he knew they were actually sharp, he was like, I don't want anything to do with this booth. [SPEAKER_01]: Like I want to like let's move, you know, like you don't want to be near at all. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: So he detected the danger. [SPEAKER_01]: He did tell you he was like, [SPEAKER_01]: Fake swords, I'm happy to pick up and whack, but the idea of holding a real thing that's actually sharp is no go. [SPEAKER_01]: It was so, I feel like that was a really interesting difference when you feel safe versus when you don't.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know because like I think I feel like there is I remember like you know going like the mall or whatever is in you know middle-school or high school and they're always being that like kiosk with the the the the weapons and you're just like you've anything did to own these to what and who knows like you're never gonna hit anything with it but do this day.
[SPEAKER_00]: I still want them [SPEAKER_01]: Well, then hey, I have good news for you any given Comic Con you go to they have so many so many and they are sharp and they look like things you know and they are I mean it even now I want past all items a pretty cool I don't not want them over in class exactly and thank you you probably could get them though [SPEAKER_01]: No, no, what you're gonna do with them, but you can own them.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're there. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so I just thought that was that was very interesting, but it was it was fun walking around Comic Con seeing all this stuff. [SPEAKER_01]: That was the first time they'd ever been to one of those and that was like trying to describe me.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're like, what's it like? [SPEAKER_01]: What's it? [SPEAKER_01]: What are we going to like? [SPEAKER_01]: Well, you know who went to like the card store? [SPEAKER_01]: It's kind of like that, but like a thousand times bigger. [SPEAKER_00]: And I mean like were they thoroughly impressed like oh, yes, yeah, they had a blast.
[SPEAKER_01]: They had a blast walking around Luke dressed up like spider-man while it was there. [SPEAKER_01]: That was fun. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, that's cool. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I was like, yes, could dress up for this moment or like costume like that's gonna be very common here where we're going. [SPEAKER_01]: Did more people like, oh, look at them.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, yes. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, they didn't dress up, but you know Luke had a bunch of like compliments on a spider-man costume. [SPEAKER_01]: So that's a good one. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: and then, you know, we have, they have like the big arcade booth like stand up booths, you can just go and play and, you know, do endless continues or whatever, Nate had a blast doing that, me and him were playing some like airplane jet shooter game where, you know, just endless hordes come at you.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think we got to like the, like the near the end of the game, we're feeling nine rounds or something. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh dang. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that was, that was a good time. [SPEAKER_01]: Start a million as they say exactly exactly just like it like it was it was good like they were very well-behaved so I was proud of their their performance at the con.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's great. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I love it. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, man. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, so I think we started this whole conversation little thread like fifty minutes ago. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I've been fifty minutes Wow by essentially being like okay, so we would it's basically October [SPEAKER_00]: You know, and I don't know if we ever like quite solve that.
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, because this week, like we're in office now and then you leave next week for Pokemon World. [SPEAKER_01]: Pokemon World. [SPEAKER_01]: Y'all, I'm not playing. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not competing. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not like in the the World Championships, but you will be there. [SPEAKER_01]: But I will be there.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I will. [SPEAKER_01]: It is in Anaheim. [SPEAKER_01]: In Anaheim. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I think it's the same convention center like VidCon was at. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's really cool to like see it look a different back but different yeah, but different the thing I'm most excited about for you is that there's like a pop-up shop from like Pokemon Center that's like very exclusive like stuff.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and it's I'm just sort of like get something. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I'm gonna like I don't know what but I want like I want some I want a suf and wall [SPEAKER_01]: A soothing law. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, don't worry. [SPEAKER_01]: I'll get you a soothing law. [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's going to be, I think there's going to be many things bought at the book about worlds. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: Because like when you go to the regionals, like there are, there's like vendors, but I always feel like it's like just a little bit lacking. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, you know, you can kind of see them all in like ten minutes, you know?
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: And you're like, hmm, it's like, you have a lot of cards and stuff, but like, I was, I was really hoping for more like, you know, [SPEAKER_01]: Like surprising amount. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I feel like it's like Pokemon worlds is like yes the competition is there, but it's it's like just like a Pokemon con on to itself.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, it's it's a it's a mecca event. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, people will be there from all over the world literally. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah [SPEAKER_01]: and like they hold it in different spot every year and it sounds like our friends Stevens going to be able to come with me like we're able to work that out so and like unlike the regional tournaments I've been to like where I've been playing in the competition itself like there's usually a bunch of like side events at those which you know if you're there for the second day but didn't make it today too it's like I guess I'll just go do some side events or whatever [SPEAKER_01]: And what always feels unfair when you're at the regionals is that there's always this big prize wall there that's like hey if you compete inside events they might have given you some like you know rewards based on your placing or just for entering you know and you'll get you know fifty twenty it's like getting tickets to Chuck E. Cheese or something nice but what's always felt unfair is that if you're in the the tournament you don't really get any points you know it's like you have to do the side events to go to the prize wall to get the stuff
[SPEAKER_01]: So but there will be people there and like all they do is just like trying to like side events like rat and then they'll like you know five people will be like we want that and they'll all just go and play and they'll just pull their stuff and get you know big stuff or whatever like the giant like stuff squirrel yeah something like that something like you could never get by yourself but so I'm always like it's so dumb that the people like actually in the competition have a worse chance of getting stuff off the prize wall yeah that is you know but um I'm not gonna be one of those people [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to be I think mean means even you're trying to do as many side events as possible to just you know play play as much as we can I think there's like side standard tournaments and I think it's Pokemon pocket tournaments.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think there's like GLC tournaments and yeah, I'm going to just just live it up and try and I might try and like [SPEAKER_01]: Um, like like just choose one of my like favorite like GLC decks and be like, I am walking away from this world tournament with a fully blinged out version of this deck.
[SPEAKER_00]: You get all the rare cards. [SPEAKER_01]: All the rare all like the like the the the full art versions of everything possible in this container. [SPEAKER_00]: Nice. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: That's going to be maybe one of my goals. [SPEAKER_01]: Then he gets some exclusive stuff and not the by stuff for the kids and all that and I've just had me.
[SPEAKER_01]: And you. [SPEAKER_00]: And me. [SPEAKER_00]: And you. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, for sure. [SPEAKER_00]: I want cool stuff too. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: See if I can find any, you know, Fero branded things. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Fero.
[SPEAKER_01]: What is Bocobod's most forgotten Bocobod? [SPEAKER_01]: Like, what's the amount of time we made a video on Super Carly Miller's channel? [SPEAKER_01]: That was Bocobod's least favorite Bocobod. [SPEAKER_01]: And I set out to make it because I was positive that my findings were going to be that Fero was the answer.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my God. [SPEAKER_01]: That was good. [SPEAKER_01]: That's a bad favorite Bocobod. [SPEAKER_01]: And then as I went through, Fiero's definitely like in the bottom five, but Paris and Paris, we're clearly in the most forgot Pokemon and that ended up being like its own sort of thing. [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, the Pokemon company is not showing your favorite Pokemon much love over the years.
[SPEAKER_01]: It has no regional forms, no mega forms, no Z attacks, no Gigantamax forms. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, it's almost like they came up with other legendary birds that kind of look like the non-legendary birds. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And so instead of dodo and fero and [SPEAKER_00]: Pidgeot.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you know you've got Articuno and Maltre's and Yeah, is that this? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, well Pidgeot Pidgeots definitely the one they like that's got like a mega form and stuff. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I know I know like give Fero is begging for like a dark type mega evolution or something.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is what I'm saying for you now [SPEAKER_00]: Don't you type megablet? [SPEAKER_01]: It should there should be a dark flying mega-fero in ZA guys guys make it happen if you're given us that that the world's dumbest looking mega-dragonite Give us the fero. [SPEAKER_01]: We want the fero.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's it. [SPEAKER_01]: Show it some love. [SPEAKER_01]: Show it some love give us mega-fero and mega-parosec and everyone's gonna be like why on earth would you choose those and even like you're gonna anything is? [SPEAKER_00]: that's going to be the reaction so they have to be good because you have to give people a reason to want to go use them to love it so yeah exactly give us the theorem yeah just do it that's it so anyway yeah so you're you're going to put them on worlds and then the next week i am going to the beach and then we come home for a week and then we go to the lake with the family and then we come home for like a week and then we like leave on tour for like two weeks and then it's october
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: So it's, so which is to say that basically means it's October right now. [SPEAKER_00]: That's exactly what I mean. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like, it's like, it's, it's so, like, I feel like life is about to go on fast forward. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, like, Allison, we're talking the whole time that we were down to the Dominican Republic, just being like, this is so relaxing and everything is so wonderful and I can in.
[SPEAKER_00]: And when I get home, everything is going to get turned up to eleven. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: For so long. [SPEAKER_00]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_00]: Which I guess to be fair, I have a week at the beach also in there. [SPEAKER_00]: So it's like a can't complain because it's going to be amazing and also tour is like the most fun thing it is.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like it's going to it's it'll just be like different kinds of fun. [SPEAKER_01]: It'll be different kinds of fun and the things will be doing will be fun. [SPEAKER_01]: The pressure on the work at the office will just be high. [SPEAKER_01]: That's why we're here. [SPEAKER_01]: So this week in particular, we got to like try and take advantage of our available time.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's it. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: So. [SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, we should talk about some of the topics we wrote now. [SPEAKER_01]: I guess. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Fifty-seven minutes. [SPEAKER_00]: Fifty-seven minutes. [SPEAKER_00]: Fifty-seven minutes. [SPEAKER_01]: Transition?
[SPEAKER_01]: Transition! [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, dumb transition. [SPEAKER_01]: To like round us off on a nice light topic. [SPEAKER_00]: All right. [SPEAKER_01]: Let's do you think I think this is a universal thing that people do. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: I think at some point in everyone's life for a period of time, they are just they they loved hot dogs and then they are for a while completely grossed out by them.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I definitely think so. [SPEAKER_00]: I definitely think so because I think and I think he really has to do with like like I wonder if you could even graph it where it's like when you're a kid hot dogs are highly approachable food. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like it's like a very easy to pitch to a kid food.
[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like a lot of times like kids menus have hot dogs on them. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, it's like it's very easy to like make and I remember like when I was a kid, you know, I learned how to make like ramen noodles. [SPEAKER_00]: I learned how to make like an omelet and like boiled hot dog.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, no, no, wild hot dogs and you know, so it was like if I like and there was a sense of agency and independence that I felt like I had with these meals as just [SPEAKER_00]: exceedingly inexpensive as they historically have been, I guess, I say that as if prices this year have been like a major topic of conversation.
[SPEAKER_00]: But for the most part, eggs of historically have been extremely cheap. [SPEAKER_00]: And it's like, [SPEAKER_00]: It's interesting because then you get a little bit older and I feel like you start to learn more about food and you probably become increasingly disgusted by hot. [SPEAKER_00]: You get a little sus about them hot dogs.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's sort of like like because I feel like the real thing that goes around is and if I were to have guessed I would say it was like somewhere like in my high school era. [SPEAKER_00]: People like, yeah, we shouldn't have had hot dogs are made of, right? [SPEAKER_00]: It's just like the leftover bits.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And I think when you start to get that messaging about what the hot dog is, I don't know if I want a hot dog. [SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: It almost becomes like, I remember, yeah, there was a certain social toxic nature about what you like hot dogs. [SPEAKER_01]: Not because hot dogs are not...
[SPEAKER_01]: because of like don't yet like you don't you know that it's just like reconstitute a chicken parts or something sure it's like that sounds so gross and it's like to be to be known as the one eating that would be like you kind of like you're like in that part of you know that's yeah you're made up of reconstitute and it's like that sounds like such a gross way to describe hot dog meat [SPEAKER_00]: Right, yes, it does but like then I don't know like and I think probably on some level like when I was when I was younger or like when I think of like really basic hot dogs I think of like you know like ballpark Franks or something like that, you know like just like sort of like very beginning really really like what is this material hot dog?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think I've got an older I feel like I like buy like nicer hot dogs. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but like now on that stage of my life where I'm like I love hot dogs. [SPEAKER_00]: Hot dogs are great, man [SPEAKER_00]: like I I don't think I'd ever turn one down. [SPEAKER_00]: There's there's a place in the market building in downtown Odoq that sells like premium hot dogs and I love that place.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yes, there is this past weekend. [SPEAKER_01]: I was at a like an outdoor like it was like a it was called a foam party, but it just had it was like one of those farms you go to for like a fall festival, but they were just doing like a summer event. [SPEAKER_01]: So they had like you know zip lines and water slides and [SPEAKER_01]: Um, the big foam giant cloud bubble pit thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: You can make giant bubbles. [SPEAKER_01]: But anyway, they, um, they had like a, a local church there that was just volunteering and just doing just doing hot dogs and you just walk up grab a hot dog and go. [SPEAKER_01]: And man, I, I saw, I, I found out that like there's free hot dogs here.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it was just like, that is exactly what I want right now. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I want I want one of these hot dogs and I I mean I'm back. [SPEAKER_00]: I got to I got to yeah, you know it reminds me of is when we went to the Metallica concert at Lane Stadium and I went and I got a hot dog.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and like you know, it's just it's a plain hot dog wrapped in foil. [SPEAKER_00]: There's only I got up to the seat night that sucker and I was like [SPEAKER_01]: What a good high was a good decision I made. [SPEAKER_00]: What was that boiled? [SPEAKER_01]: You know what you know what do you know what when we were what do you know what when we were walking back to our car from the Metallica Concert there were there were people out on the street just like doing like New York style like street meat kind of hot dog like shopping carts with like like little kills built into it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they were just like grilling over there trying to get people on the way out. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, not probably like a license business kind of situation. [SPEAKER_01]: But good lord did it smell tremendous. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, aromatic. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, aromatic.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, now we got a we got to get to the car and a time to like sit here and buy a hot dog, you know, we're gonna get stuck in traffic or whatever. [SPEAKER_01]: And man, Ben, I spent the next [SPEAKER_01]: hour or however long it took us to even move out of our parking space thinking about nothing about that more than how much I wish I had gotten one of the hot dogs from the people to this moment I sit here in my seat thinking I wish we had one of those hot dogs I know like we I walked out there so I was like that would have made that whole weight in the car just a little better [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, you wonder what else is interesting is that I feel like when I was kid I didn't like like so we talked about the boiled hot dogs the thing about a boiled hot dog is that really the most hot dogs I don't even think need to be cooked They know they're just sort of like you can you can just go out if you want to
[SPEAKER_00]: right out of the fridge you want listen no judgment but um i think what's funny is that when i was a kid i would like a burger that was like super well done like you know like cooked all the way through like i i i think even like i like we're gonna like Logan's steakhouse as a kid doesn't exist anymore [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, no, it doesn't but that you they would ask you like how do you want like your your meat and you know, I was like I don't understand why anybody doesn't get it called like just well done.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's right there in the title. [SPEAKER_00]: I would like it well done, please. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, like good, you know, opposed to, yeah, opposed to like kind of not cooked all the way. [SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: But then on the flip side now like not like a medium rare person medium rare the way it's supposed to be eaten.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and I think that like, you know, for the most part, it seems like that's a, it seems like a generally accepted thing. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't even know. [SPEAKER_00]: But on the flip side though, yeah, I used to like my hot dogs, like with no marks, no anything, just like he did not hot.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, right there in the name. [SPEAKER_00]: Right there in hot dog. [SPEAKER_00]: Now I think there's nothing better than like a hot dog. [SPEAKER_00]: It's almost been like left on. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know about the too long, but like I like it if it's got some charm. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like cracking.
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, like I mean, it like it needs to look like the hot dog has had like kind of a bad day. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: And then it's ready. [SPEAKER_01]: Do you remember when once upon a time we were like seriously contemplating opening up a hot dog restaurant called [SPEAKER_01]: It's called screwed.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, where the whole stick would be that you would cut a corkscrew shape into the hot dog thus giving it more exposed like inner meat. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, inner meat so that you have like but then you have like more edge like those brownies. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: That are like all edge.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: It's like you do that, but it's for a hot dog. [SPEAKER_01]: And then that makes every bite like really crispy. [SPEAKER_01]: And like the toppings can get all the way like into the hot dog. [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: And we would make them at the house we lived in when we started to be Carl and brothers.
[SPEAKER_01]: And like they were so good. [SPEAKER_01]: And it was like such a fun novelty. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, and yeah, that was like we we like we bought we brought our friends or we like trying different combinations of stuff and the whole thing was gonna be like Oh, you want to go get screwed for lunch and that was gonna be like That was gonna be the ad was gonna be the campaign that was [SPEAKER_00]: was us being brilliant.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: We are marketing genius. [SPEAKER_00]: We got it. [SPEAKER_00]: Who is not going to want this? [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's it's so funny because you're right. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, and I feel like we want it's like invent like a jig that we could use to like, you know, set the hot dog in like easily make like the like, the like, this is a corkscrew.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: Because in the meantime, it takes forever to like individually like corkscrew cut. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: Each dog. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: But then if you get it just right. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, it was so good.
[SPEAKER_00]: It is good. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like, back to this day. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm kind of like, I'm like, oh, I'm tonight. [SPEAKER_00]: I know corkscrew hot dog. [SPEAKER_01]: I do well. [SPEAKER_01]: We had, I think we, I think I want to say if memory serves that we determined the, the best topping was like this, this really this guacamole that we were making.
[SPEAKER_01]: We were going to call it the guacamole. [SPEAKER_00]: The guacamole. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I think you're right. [SPEAKER_00]: I think you're right. [SPEAKER_00]: I think, okay, hold on. [SPEAKER_01]: People are like, wait, what? [SPEAKER_00]: She's like, you guys are dumb. [SPEAKER_00]: These ideas are like, they're so mad.
[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely best. [SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, we were so excited about it. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I feel like it was like being a group chat, you know. [SPEAKER_01]: Pretty glad we didn't do it. [SPEAKER_00]: I am pretty glad we didn't know. [SPEAKER_00]: I think at the time it's funny too because I like at that they say that this happens, but it's like when you're young you have ideas and no money and when you're old you have money and no ideas and I think that it was so firmly in that first camp where it was like I was so willing to go and do like whatever it took just to try to be successful in any way.
[SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: So it was sort of like [SPEAKER_00]: I have time. [SPEAKER_00]: I have plenty of time. [SPEAKER_00]: Like I won't mind getting up early and going to our kiosk and just spiral cutting hot dogs. [SPEAKER_00]: So it's all like prepped for the day. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like that was me like hustling and I'm like, I'll probably make it one day as a hot dog salesman.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you know, slinging dogs slinging dogs. [SPEAKER_00]: Now I think at CastleCon the first annual we should definitely have spiral cut dogs. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And maybe mean you could like work the booth. [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe we should invite our friends, try and mic.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Like we got the whole, maybe we got the whole crew. [SPEAKER_01]: It'll say, get screw. [SPEAKER_00]: It's screw to CastleCon. [SPEAKER_01]: That would be fantastic. [SPEAKER_00]: That would be so, it would be so good. [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe we would need some people to help us run the booth because I'm sure we're going to have other obligations at the event that we run.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Also, for what it's worth still fictional. [SPEAKER_00]: But like, you know, for now. [SPEAKER_00]: For now. [SPEAKER_00]: We say that as if we're teasing and attempting to put it into motion, we really can't stress it enough. [SPEAKER_00]: We're not anywhere nearer than we ever have been.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: But like for now. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, we're just like a really busy. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but we'll we'll just be out there like celebs Jeff and I like to think that like we'll like you know we'll have like those like little boats or maybe we'll like wrap them up and like the aluminum foil just like at the tech game.
[SPEAKER_00]: We'll be like chucking them into the track. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: What do you want number three? [SPEAKER_00]: I got you man. [SPEAKER_00]: No problem. [SPEAKER_00]: How do you do it? [SPEAKER_00]: How do you do it? [SPEAKER_00]: Have you been to the strawberry zone festival?
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, who would work this booth is our mom? [SPEAKER_01]: She, because mom, they just, as a, as a fun fact about our mom is that she loves working concession. [SPEAKER_00]: She, you know, she does. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: She's so good at it. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, this, this was like one of those things we're like growing up.
[SPEAKER_00]: She was so great about like being like the, like a soccer mom, our cross country mom, or something. [SPEAKER_00]: And you like helping do the fundraising or whatever, going to football game and like running the thing at the night. [SPEAKER_00]: And I mean, [SPEAKER_00]: It's like I felt like sometimes we were like seeing her and I'd be curious to know how she felt about it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like if like if she was just sort of doing it like in a very obligatory standpoint, but like in my mind you would go and like see her working and it was like she was like in her element. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, she would have like a, like a, like a, you know, like a canvas bag. [SPEAKER_00]: I feel like she would have like a like an apron type thing that had like all like the money kind of like stuffed into it and like, you know, she would like go to Sam's and get like the big boxes of candy bars and like the whole thing.
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it was just, I mean, it was, it was just wonderful to see. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm just proud of her. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I want to go mom. [SPEAKER_00]: Shout out to mom. [SPEAKER_00]: You were doing really great. [SPEAKER_00]: And still are, honestly, you know, just really calm.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, so CastleCon, get your hot dogs, get screwed, get screwed. [SPEAKER_00]: It's gonna be great. [SPEAKER_00]: Yo, I think that's gonna have to be it for today's episode of the pop. [SPEAKER_00]: But if you are thinking to yourself, boy, howdy, I have trouble keeping up with the dates and twenty, twenty, six, I mean, it's basically October already.
[SPEAKER_00]: I need to start thinking about what kind of calendar I'm going to be using for the calendar year of twenty, twenty, six. [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm thinking about it now. [SPEAKER_00]: And I want to see my boys and by your boys, you probably don't mean your either real or fictional children. [SPEAKER_01]: You mean Jay and Ben right the the one true host me and the other guy Ben popcorn culture strange way to place it.
[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, so for our Patreon Q three quarterly merch, we are going to be doing a calendar complete with photo shoots for each month. [SPEAKER_00]: We're going to have little dates filled in with all the various, the teams, birthdays, and different holidays, like Easton bump hobbies. [SPEAKER_00]: Easton bump hobby today.
[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to have all sorts of fun moves. [SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be very pop centric. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, it's gonna be very pop center. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm looking forward to doing all the all the photography for each of the videos. [SPEAKER_01]: If you have suggestions for what dates should be highlighted on the calendar, please let us know.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, because we don't want to miss anything. [SPEAKER_01]: We don't want to miss anything. [SPEAKER_00]: If it's important to the pop of this important to you guys, then we'll put it on. [SPEAKER_01]: We've got a lot of lore on this show, and it's hard to remember every single thing ever.
[SPEAKER_01]: So if there are certain things that you were like, make sure you remember this. [SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: Just let us know. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, like, probably like August, twenty-third, National Submit, Jay and Ben to the Cave Spring High School, notable alumni with Capitia Page Day.
[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes in December, I was like, go vote on the Roanoker, you know? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, you know, kind of like make sure that they're like well-represented, you know, in next year's column. [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So if you want to check it out, you... Exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: If you want to check it out, you... If you want to check it out, you can go to Patreon.com slash popcorn culture. [SPEAKER_00]: Any of the quarterly merch tiers will get you there, but I would definitely recommend the buttered popcorn one over, you know, stuffed top popcorn.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I don't know about that. [SPEAKER_01]: So, for a bunch of the, like, the epitome of good popcorn. [SPEAKER_00]: It's hard to argue with that. [SPEAKER_00]: But you know, you put butter on it, too. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I like to think that my buttered popcorn is also stove top. [SPEAKER_00]: It's just like gotten an extra step taken.
[SPEAKER_01]: But like I, but what I use to pop my kernels in is butter flavored coconut oil. [SPEAKER_01]: So it's still butter flavored. [SPEAKER_00]: It's got there. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I mean, that's when you say it like that. [SPEAKER_00]: But mine, maybe maybe it's like buttered popcorn, but like you brought all the like necessary ingredients with you on like a camping adventure.
[SPEAKER_00]: And you have like a really small jar that's like containing like an artisanal kernel of sorts. [SPEAKER_01]: Artisanal kernel. [SPEAKER_00]: Artisanal kernel. [SPEAKER_00]: And like maybe like a little, a little damn much. [SPEAKER_01]: How much an ablick have you done with artisanal kernels, Ben?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, some were like, oh, this is a mixed bag. [SPEAKER_01]: It's like some of these kernels are blue and some are red and some are yellow. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, it was like, you got like a whole different, you know, it was like, it was like a variety pop as it were. [SPEAKER_01]: And then some would just be like, I think some of the red, some of the red corn was like, or like, like, oh, I'd get this again.
[SPEAKER_00]: You wanna know what else would be really cool, is it if you could do popping corn on the cob at CastleCon, you know, see it on the cob. [SPEAKER_00]: Pop corn on the cob. [SPEAKER_00]: So you have like a, like a rotisserizer or something, maybe, maybe there's like double layers for rotisseries.
[SPEAKER_00]: So you've got one rotisserie with a giant, a lot of butter that's just slowly dripping onto the lower popcorns that are then popping over the thing. [SPEAKER_00]: So then you get your cob covered in popcorn. [SPEAKER_00]: And it can go right next to your corkscrew shaped hot dog. [SPEAKER_00]: There you go.
[SPEAKER_00]: And we got like an odd. [SPEAKER_01]: Showed to Siri butter. [SPEAKER_00]: They got deep red butter on a stick. [SPEAKER_00]: Delicious. [SPEAKER_00]: Guys, check it out at patreon.com. [SPEAKER_00]: We'll put her below the wise. [SPEAKER_00]: Until next time. [SPEAKER_00]: Bye. [SPEAKER_00]: Bye.
[SPEAKER_00]: Today's episode was edited by Isabelle Crisley. [SPEAKER_00]: Vaishon Brandon does our art. [SPEAKER_00]: Katherine Stein is our production manager and the show was hosted by me in Jonathan Carlin.
