Hi guys, it's Quinn here. Please hit the like button to help out this channel, and also please subscribe if you enjoy the content. Check out our Patreon if you want to support this channel more. Hi guys, it feels kind of retro to be back here doing Dune news, but here we are. You know, back seven, eight years ago, when not that many people were talking about the upcoming Dune movie that I knew was going to be amazing, I felt obligated to, you know, post every update and keep everybody informed and updated.

But now obviously the Dune movies are so so popular, there is the show, and everyone is obviously just way more alert about upcoming information, so I haven't felt the need to do that because it's just kind of everybody knows it already. But I did read something recently that I thought was definitely worth talking about in regards to Dune 3.

And I think it's one of the most important bits of information that we've gotten about it so far. This could change everything, or at least a lot about what story we actually see adapted on screen. And I believe also that it kind of confirms a theory that I had, and it's the theory that this is not just Dune Messiah, but they are obviously incorporating parts of Children of Dune.

Tim Ote Shalom has confirmed that he will be playing Paul Atreides 15 to 20 years older. Now anybody that knows the timeline knows that Dune Messiah takes place about 12 years after the first Dune book, and that Children of Dune takes place about 20 years after the first Dune book. So if Paul Atreides is 15 to 20 years older, this is right in line with the timeline, roughly around the beginning of Children of Dune.

What I'm guessing is that within the movie itself there's going to be perhaps a time jump, maybe multiple. What I'm currently leaning to, if I had to guess, is that this movie is going to take place over the course of several years. We know that, spoiler alert, Paul Atreides and Chani's children, Leto and Ganema, have already been cast.

These two characters don't appear to the very end of Dune Messiah and they're babies. Children of Dune is their book. So that right there is enough of a hint that Dune Messiah is not the only source material that we're gonna be pulling from here. I think this is very exciting, and also I think that while I do believe that Villeneuve is closing out his Dune trilogy with this movie, I do think that he will probably leave the door open for more films in the future, like a full-fledged children of Dune movie, perhaps, and you know, I always look forward to the potential of any sort of God Emperor of Dune adaptation in the future, even though that would be a very maybe kind of niche thing, something

that only a certain amount of people would be interested in. A God Emperor of Dune movie done right would be more quiet, more cerebral, more philosophical, and just a little bit weirder than a normal narrative. So I've always thought it would lend itself better to like kind of just a mini-series, three to four episodes rather than a movie, but any type of adaptation of that would be really, really interesting.

It's going to be really interesting also to see how Timulteus Chalamet pulls off a much older Paul Atreides who's really been through a lot by the time you get to Dune Messiah, and then really, really goes through a lot after Dune Messiah by the time you get to Children of Dune. I'm not sure exactly how closely they're gonna be following the timeline.

I don't know if things, events are gonna take place to the exact date or year. You know, some of the timeline is a little vague. I mean, we don't know exactly when specific events or specific occurrences in the jihad that occurs after the Frimen leave Arrakis. We don't we don't know like that many specifics because Frank Herbert in the book essentially skips over the big war and he just cuts to basically when Paul is uh the Emperor of the Imperium and he's just kind of precariously trying to maintain the balance.

There is certainly a lot of material to work with here. Another thing that I was potentially thinking about is I don't know if you guys saw Oppenheimer, but the way Christopher Nolan kind of tells the movie in separate timelines at once, I think that would be a really interesting way to do a Doom movie like this type of movie.

You could, you know, have scenes that are happening during the actual jihad, you could have scenes that are happening you know during the main thrust of Paul's rule of the Imperium, and then you could have some scenes that are occurring further in the future with Alia, with Leto and Ganima, you know, setting up Children of Dune.

These three timelines are being shown at the same time and kind of stitched together. I think that would be a really cool way to do it. Whatever way they choose to do it, I'm sure they'll make it work because Villeneuve has, in my opinion, proven himself to be just a brilliant director. He has not made a bad movie, in my opinion, and I really, really appreciate his treatment and respect of the Dune source material in his movies, and I uh really, really appreciate what he's done to bring the Dune franchise alive and renew it.

And also, here's something that we haven't been talking about. Leto the second is going to appear in this movie. So this will be the first appearance of Leto the Second on the big screen. So he's here. The character is here. It just takes the studio to have the willpower and to have the ambition to bring this character into full development as the God Emperor.

That's it ja it just takes somebody believing in it enough. And I still have my fingers crossed, right? A lot of people didn't think that Dune was gonna get a sequel. A lot of people thought that this first Dune movie was gonna be a huge failure. They were proven wrong. A lot of people thought the second one, no one was gonna care about it, that it would fail and there'd never be a third one.

They were proven wrong. And now the third movie is happening. So at this point, I think anything is possible. And on top of that, for those of you that watched the Dune prophecy show, the God Emperor was referenced, the God Emperor was mentioned, and even in a sense depicted. So canonically within the Dune cinematic universe, the God Emperor, Leto II, exist.

What's also interesting about this 15 to 20 year time jump is that we now don't really know where the story is gonna end. Villeneuve could chop this story off at any point, basically, because there are so many major events that happen with Paul, that happen with Chawny, that happened with Paul's sister Alia, that happened with the twins Leto and Ganema.

I'm talking massive moments that essentially change everything, that all could be cliffhangers or or lead-ins to another movie. Like so many major events. The Stoneburner attack, if you know you know, the birth of the twins themselves, if you know you know, the possession, if you know you know, Leto's pilgrimage into the desert in search of Jakarutu, the beginning of the metamorphosis, all the stuff that happens with the prophet.

There's lots of places to stop the movie because there are so many things that need to happen. So much so that it's hard to conceive how they would even do it in one movie. And obviously they won't be doing it in one movie. I think that this movie will lead into Children of Dune, perhaps, but we'll need obviously a whole additional movie to do the Children of Doom story, which is like insane.

Alright, now for Mega Spoilers. So if you don't want to be spoiled for Dune, like click off now because I'm gonna give you like what I would guess would be my theory for what happens, right? Okay. I think that the movie continues until after the death of Chani, and after Paul is blinded, and Paul walks out into the desert, and I think like that at the tail end of the movie we get the reveal of the twins at the approximate age that they are at the start of Children of Dune.

And all of this can happen still with you know that style of telling three narratives at once, but you don't get to that reveal until like the very end. And then maybe at the end we can see, you know, uh we can get a hint of the Jackarutu thing happening with Paul, but they wouldn't go in it, it would kind of end Paul's story right there, and we wouldn't necessarily know what happens.

And then, like, maybe the last shot of the movie could be in the furthest future timeline with the twins, with Alia, Aliyah, maybe some of her madness beginning to show. It's possible that Alia's madness begins to show in this movie. So if I had to guess, I think maybe that would be about where they would cut it off.

And I don't think we would get too deep into the children of Dune storyline. But we know that they've cast the twins, and the twins are children, so they have to grow into children, and that doesn't happen until after Dune Messiah, unless they're born earlier in the timeline, which they could also do that as well, because we don't know exactly how it's going to be adapted.

You know, these this is all speculation, these are all guesses. I don't actually know how they're gonna portray the story or the timelines at all. It could be it could totally surprise me. So this is just all speculation, just based off of bits of information that I've heard. Now, I will link the article where Tim Ote talks about the time jump in the description.

So if you want to just read that full article, you can do that yourself. Thanks everyone for listening. Make sure you like and subscribe for more sci-fi lore videos. It's been great. Peace out, guys.
