When should your college student start preparing for a job after graduation? Senior year may be much too late.
In this Mom’s Perspective™, I’m reacting to advice from Duke professor Aaron Dinin about something college freshmen can begin doing from their very first year to help prepare for their future careers.
His advice caught my attention because we spend so much time helping our sons prepare to get into college—but how often do we talk about preparing for what comes after college?
I also share one thing I would add to his strategy, especially for students who already have an idea of the industry they’d like to pursue or where they might want to live after graduation.
If you’re raising a teen or young adult son, this is a simple conversation worth having as he begins thinking about college, career readiness, and preparing for adulthood.
