[SPEAKER_00]: Hi, everybody. [SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to another episode of Altocall. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm your host, Tane. [SPEAKER_00]: Here to talk to you about Bridgeton season four episodes, five to eight. [SPEAKER_00]: And my guest with me is to Bridgeton expert in books and on screen. [SPEAKER_00]: It's eight, hi, eight, how are you?

[SPEAKER_01]: I'm good, how are you? [SPEAKER_00]: I'm doing well, I'm doing well. [SPEAKER_00]: I do want to let the people know that we did cover part one episodes one to four. [SPEAKER_00]: It is on the Patreon. [SPEAKER_00]: It was a bonus episode. [SPEAKER_00]: So if you're interested in that, you can check that out on patreon.com slash also called MFFS.

[SPEAKER_00]: So just wanted to give you that heads up. [SPEAKER_00]: So back to aid. [SPEAKER_00]: Welcome back. [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_01]: Thanks for having me back to talk about lovely Bridgeton. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: So how are we feeling about the second drop? [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I think season 4 might be the best season that we've ever had.

[SPEAKER_01]: What? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm a season 4 lover. [SPEAKER_01]: Wow. [SPEAKER_01]: I do think part of it goes back to how Benedict's book was my favorite book and every change of the show made made that book better. [SPEAKER_01]: Wow, I actually managed to get a copy from the library.

[SPEAKER_01]: So I actually read it between when we did part one and when we did part two. [SPEAKER_01]: So I had a quick reread. [SPEAKER_01]: Why say it's the best? [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's the best of the eight books. [SPEAKER_01]: And I don't think the eight books are all that great. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but I do.

[SPEAKER_01]: It was one of my favorite tropes. [SPEAKER_01]: It was a good storyline. [SPEAKER_01]: I liked everything, actually, about it. [SPEAKER_01]: And I just feel like the show made it better. [SPEAKER_00]: What is the trope that you liked? [SPEAKER_00]: What are specific things that make it the best for you?

[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I like the, I don't mind the Cinderella trope. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't mind the, like, loudly born girl who's plucky, like even the things that I really like about the show is, look, when they first started doing their Bridgeton other world, we don't care about race thing. [SPEAKER_01]: I was like, for this made thing, they really can't have a black girl.

[SPEAKER_01]: Um, that's true. [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, well, I don't think we can suffer under the way to that, but I also think having East Asian lead. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I still think, like, culturally, I'm not going to speak for a group that I'm not part of. [SPEAKER_01]: But there is like a, agents of misiveness that exists.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I felt like they did an excellent job in, like, not playing into that at all. [SPEAKER_01]: You got to be careful. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, you're right. [SPEAKER_00]: But I will confess. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not gonna lie to you that until you mentioned it now, I'm like, that is so true.

[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't know if it's a testament to the way Bridgeson has built its world where you're able to be in that world and watch their stuff and not think about that. [SPEAKER_00]: So, it's a credit to them. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: I'll be the maid. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I could have.

[SPEAKER_00]: But I get what you're saying, like given everything, it's just like, I don't know, it sounds weird to say. [SPEAKER_00]: But they've built a world that is great and we've been enjoying the stories. [SPEAKER_00]: But I enjoyed it. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that it's my favorite. [SPEAKER_00]: My Netflix started over from season one.

[SPEAKER_00]: So I said, watching episode one again. [SPEAKER_00]: And I had the same thoughts. [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm just like, how did the actress who played Daphne, I think, in his VV, how did she get cast? [SPEAKER_00]: Because I just kept thinking, you know, back then, how many years ago was that?

[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, more than that. [SPEAKER_01]: That thing premiered during the pandemic, December 2020. [SPEAKER_01]: Wow. [SPEAKER_00]: Which is probably shot at when, 2019? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Everyone looks so young, too. [SPEAKER_00]: And anyways, I was just thinking like, oh, you just think we'll Hollywood did just want people that stand out.

[SPEAKER_00]: And I remember just thinking like, huh, she just seemed so ordinary. [SPEAKER_00]: So when the queen was like, what's she call her? [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I forgot what I mean. [SPEAKER_00]: A diamond of the first quarter. [SPEAKER_00]: You're flawless or something like that. [SPEAKER_00]: When she went and I was like, huh, okay?

[SPEAKER_00]: Sure, let's go with that. [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, but it's just interesting to see how far it's come. [SPEAKER_00]: And if I didn't have so much on my plate to watch and so much to do in life, I would re-watch it, you know? [SPEAKER_00]: It was just nice. [SPEAKER_00]: And to Duke remains the hottest, please.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's okay. [SPEAKER_01]: I'll give you that. [SPEAKER_00]: No contest. [SPEAKER_00]: No contest. [SPEAKER_00]: And that. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, I want to start with a question for you. [SPEAKER_00]: Shunder rhymes. [SPEAKER_00]: We all know Shunder rhymes. [SPEAKER_00]: We all know Shunder land.

[SPEAKER_00]: I know her name is on it. [SPEAKER_00]: She barely just see, you know, she comes in checks in like other people handle the shows and stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: When people say Bridgetion, do you consider it an American or British show? [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, that's interesting. [SPEAKER_01]: I think my first thought is that it's a British show.

[SPEAKER_01]: But it's still Shunder. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And then I guess the other part is, you know, trying to figure out her level of involvement is really something because basically, she dips in where she wants to. [SPEAKER_01]: So from listening to the Bridgetron podcast, which is dope.

[SPEAKER_01]: It is a nice listen. [SPEAKER_01]: I'll certainly say that. [SPEAKER_01]: It's you know, we find out that she wrote the, um, I'm the T. We're having T, whatever you want to call it. [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, wait, what are you referring to? [SPEAKER_01]: Um, you know, when, uh, oh, God. [SPEAKER_01]: What's the mom's name?

[SPEAKER_01]: Mrs. Bridgetton? [SPEAKER_01]: Mrs. We sure are Mrs. Bridgetton, but that's not what we call her. [SPEAKER_01]: I keep wanting to say violet. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but violet. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And Lord Anderson. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, when she went to tea, there's all these tea.

[SPEAKER_01]: You for Mrs. Yeah, yeah, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Shonda wrote that tea stuff. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I don't think she's a hands-off. [SPEAKER_00]: producer. [SPEAKER_00]: And it's just by name only. [SPEAKER_00]: It's just that it's not as heavy as all back in the day, like let's say grace where she was like writing everything, supervising everything.

[SPEAKER_00]: I think she still has final say and looks through things and it is a shonder show. [SPEAKER_00]: But I just was thinking like the one thing I think maybe Bridgetton does well is they don't cast besides the voice of Lady Whistledown. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, huge famous stars American stars, majority, if not all of the actors are British, so then I was like, so is it American or is it British and I was like, it's British.

[SPEAKER_01]: I think I've almost all the actors and actresses are British. [SPEAKER_01]: Although interestingly, Yaren Ha is New Zealand, Australia? [SPEAKER_01]: Australia? [SPEAKER_01]: Australia and Australia. [SPEAKER_01]: Australia, but even then, it's like, oh, we'll just go to the British Empire.

[SPEAKER_01]: We still keep it in the fam. [SPEAKER_01]: But even like, I kept on looking at John Sterling's mom, and I was like, I've seen her somewhere before. [SPEAKER_01]: And I looked it up, and I had, on British... Watch out. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh God. [SPEAKER_01]: And she was on one episode of Call The Midwife.

[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what's gonna happen to Supercell Y'all. [SPEAKER_00]: Gets just got put in prison. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, that was my intro to this. [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for answering guys. [SPEAKER_00]: I'd like to hear what you think. [SPEAKER_00]: Do you consider this an American show or British show?

[SPEAKER_00]: I wanna start by saying that Benedict and his lady they're very prison. [SPEAKER_00]: Very reckless. [SPEAKER_00]: There I say. [SPEAKER_00]: We are just everywhere, anywhere, looking at each other and kissing each other, doing things in the, like, guys, we not scared. [SPEAKER_01]: Not scared enough, but it's like, um, if you were call from part one, something that I was really picky about and really said, I was like, we just can't be like accidentally making a baby all over the place.

[SPEAKER_01]: This is a risky thing to do. [SPEAKER_01]: What I did appreciate is if we're going to do it, we're going to act like it's a real risk. [SPEAKER_01]: We're going to be looking at our little calendar like, [SPEAKER_01]: keep through it. [SPEAKER_01]: It is like give me the realistic stuff.

[SPEAKER_01]: And then people are doing about how would, yeah, the internet is accessible. [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I appreciated that we had a discussion about the real consequences. [SPEAKER_01]: We worried about the real consequences. [SPEAKER_01]: We had duality because I'm pretty sure on one hand, she's like, please don't let me be pregnant.

[SPEAKER_01]: On the other hand, it'll be nice to be pregnant because then that takes my choice away from me and I actually have to be with [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I liked it. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, the audacity of expecting an answer to, would you be my mistress? [SPEAKER_00]: Is, uh, another reason thing, but, um, I'm not going to lie though.

[SPEAKER_00]: He made being a mistress on so nice. [SPEAKER_00]: He's just like, you be taking care of, you mean a cut edge, but he also sounded like a kind of prison. [SPEAKER_01]: It's all, I mean, look, the way Bridgerton shows how made work is jokes. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, if you read up on what being a maid or any type of household help was during that time, like, you are up at like 4 a.m. and you don't stop working until 10 p.m. like, you know, it's just, it's awful.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's so awful. [SPEAKER_01]: Um, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: So big and mistress and not having to work and having staff of your own, my God, it would have been a big up in the world, but it's always not trading in all that for, for you. [SPEAKER_01]: Good for her. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, [SPEAKER_00]: We got more proof as to why whistled down should be discrete.

[SPEAKER_00]: They got their own victor in era stalker. [SPEAKER_00]: When someone just showed up at a penalty's house. [SPEAKER_00]: And was like, say this, why did you say this? [SPEAKER_00]: Why did you do this? [SPEAKER_01]: I said it in the first part. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: This whole trying to be whistle down while people know who you are or really the whole storyline all together.

[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they wrapped it up this season, which was a good thing, but it just made no sense. [SPEAKER_01]: No sense. [SPEAKER_01]: And honestly, you know, people love to scream about why or Phoebe and Rege are not here. [SPEAKER_01]: They need to recast the Duke and I'm like, what did Penelope and call and do this season?

[SPEAKER_00]: To justify? [SPEAKER_00]: Here's the thing, I'm one of them, but I don't meet it as being in a story. [SPEAKER_00]: I feel like it's just not realistic that Daphne is going to miss all these wedding series of medler. [SPEAKER_00]: She was just always in there and missed the weddings and also a funeral and her sister needs her.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's just not realistic that she's going to miss it. [SPEAKER_00]: That's just what my angle is. [SPEAKER_01]: And I will give them the the same way we mentioned Kate and Anthony, even though they weren't at the funeral, we need to mention I mean we mentioned to do it when it was when we were in court.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but there's only so many mentions we have what ABCDE FGH to go so everyone we're gonna miss it's in everyone at some point it's like, do you really like us? [SPEAKER_00]: I wonder who else is gonna drop off. [SPEAKER_01]: Come see some five. [SPEAKER_01]: The weird thing is, is I'm like, we don't need these people, but it's weird if they're not there.

[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I really, really need season five to be at least. [SPEAKER_01]: How's that always gonna be somewhere and can I help me not be part of it or not know about it? [SPEAKER_01]: She's our best friend. [SPEAKER_01]: I kind of like what they did with Kay Nathene the season. [SPEAKER_01]: Like let's have you for an episode.

[SPEAKER_01]: Let's have you for the wedding. [SPEAKER_01]: We don't really need you any more than that. [SPEAKER_00]: is Francesca gonna have her own book. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: Man, she's been featured last season in this season. [SPEAKER_00]: She's had like major storylines, so there's more.

[SPEAKER_01]: I would like to have happened. [SPEAKER_01]: I feel like we do Eloise next season. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: um, then Francesca is in her, she's still mourning her husband. [SPEAKER_01]: And I thought it was very, you guys, you have to catch this. [SPEAKER_01]: So, during the wedding, when Penelope asks her, are you going to have a wedding again?

[SPEAKER_01]: Or I can't remember she said, you're going to get, oh, would you do it again? [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it doesn't get out of the house. [SPEAKER_01]: She does not say, I will never be married again. [SPEAKER_01]: She says, I will not have a wedding again. [SPEAKER_01]: I was like, hmm, catch that.

[SPEAKER_01]: Why is it a spoiler again? [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I don't think it's a spoiler at this point. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so, do we have confirmation that they are going to fully explore this with Michaela? [SPEAKER_01]: Um, I feel like we have, I feel like I have confirmation and I'm like, wait, do I?

[SPEAKER_01]: This, I guess, in Francesca's book, I'm like, wait, that would be a spoiler. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, spoiler alert, three, two, one, hold. [SPEAKER_00]: and give it a second before you come back. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, go. [SPEAKER_01]: It's for you, too. [SPEAKER_01]: So for Francesca's story is that she ends up after John's death, a couple years later, she ends up with John's cousin Michael.

[SPEAKER_01]: So we have Michaela. [SPEAKER_01]: who is Michael. [SPEAKER_01]: So how they're going to do this with a, um, um, I'm going to call it a lesbian storyline, but people might correct me queer, but whatever. [SPEAKER_01]: We don't know what Francesca is and we don't know what Michaela is, but let's just say it's a, a same-sex storyline.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I assume that's going to happen. [SPEAKER_01]: Otherwise, why would we have Michaela? [SPEAKER_01]: So that's what we make in references to how in Scotland, sometimes women can inherit the title, because that was the other thing. [SPEAKER_01]: In the book, [SPEAKER_01]: Michael inherits John's title.

[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so the reason why I was asking you if we have confirmation that they're fully gonna go down that path is, yes, we are bending all the rules in Bridgeton, but there's some things that they're not bending and that includes like even this season with Sophie and Benedict, like there's a class system.

[SPEAKER_00]: So how do we spin the story to allow for same sex, relationship and or marriage? [SPEAKER_00]: That's why I was asking. [SPEAKER_00]: Like it would that be? [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, good. [SPEAKER_01]: In history, it's like well-established. [SPEAKER_01]: There were men and women who and women actually could get away with it much easier than men in some ways because they didn't have inheritance stuff.

[SPEAKER_01]: But you know, two women would set up a household together and everybody would be like, yeah, they're best friends. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I'm like in history, like people will talk about anti-Soh and so on, or best friend. [SPEAKER_01]: Like people are age, we'll talk about a relative who they had who had like a same sex, best friend, and they live together, that you're like, come on.

[SPEAKER_01]: Like, so I envisioned that kind of future for Michaela and Francesca, which is why when she was like, I'm not having a wedding. [SPEAKER_01]: I've already had my great love. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, great love, understood. [SPEAKER_01]: Wedding. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: If you if you am a killer, I'm going to set up some sort of wife together as a married couple without marriage because you can't have that.

[SPEAKER_01]: Then yeah, you won't have a wedding. [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, you'll still have the Michael and Michaela Francesco Vittal. [SPEAKER_00]: But the whole thing about Richardson is I can solve the romance, the yearning, the celebration of love and all that. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't see how it's not in the [SPEAKER_00]: the relationships.

[SPEAKER_00]: So like, even if they set up shop and it's like, Oh, everyone thinks their friends, but there is a relationship. [SPEAKER_00]: Is it also going to be hidden from the family from everyone? [SPEAKER_00]: They basically have to be hidden. [SPEAKER_00]: That doesn't seem in the day and every distance.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then that's what I'm going back and forth on and how are they going to lean into it? [SPEAKER_00]: Or is it going to be a thing of the queen is leading trends and allowing things and changing the laws or things like that? [SPEAKER_00]: I guess is what I'm. [SPEAKER_01]: Get your right!

[SPEAKER_01]: The whole secret thing is definitely going to be. [SPEAKER_01]: something that maybe they'll change. [SPEAKER_01]: But it's not even a chair or they'll adapt to the talk. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: It didn't for the main thing. [SPEAKER_00]: I just, I just, this is the things that I'm just trying to see how they're going to go.

[SPEAKER_00]: But that's why I went on writers. [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe they'll figure it out and maybe they will, which makes more sense now. [SPEAKER_00]: Like you're right, we have to give time for Francesca to mourn and for things to actually like develop and make things happen. [SPEAKER_00]: So having a Louise kind of makes sense.

[SPEAKER_00]: um, for that to happen. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, do you think that that is enough time or are they going to age up the rest of the siblings like they did for Francesca? [SPEAKER_00]: Um, I don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: Um, I guess in the in the books, it's two years between maybe three, I think two years between when [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I say that because, I mean, you kind of need a part of why they age them up is like, there are some, you know, sex scenes and things that happen.

[SPEAKER_00]: And it's like, they just do look so young. [SPEAKER_00]: And it's so weird because we've watched them since they were little. [SPEAKER_01]: So I just, I feel like, okay, these people take forever, but that guess they're speeding up a little. [SPEAKER_01]: So we take, we don't, I mean, it's 2026.

[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe we get, [SPEAKER_01]: uh, Eloise in late 20 27, Francesca same thing. [SPEAKER_01]: So now we're in 20 28. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, these, I think the actors, both Francesca, not Francesca, Hiusin and Gregory are like 21. [SPEAKER_01]: So by the time is their turn, they might be like 25, 26.

[SPEAKER_00]: I thought Hiusin was 19 in real life. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, thank you. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, I a lot of people are like recast them and I'm like, I feel like can we get through Eloise and Francesca and then we'll talk about the two of them. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, she's 19 by the way.

[SPEAKER_00]: Um, okay. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, um [SPEAKER_00]: Speaking of Hyacinth, I think that she's what you call boy crazy. [SPEAKER_00]: I call her boy crazy, but I feel like she's her mother's daughter because I swear, oh, this is Violet Bridges and thinks about his marriage, all day long. [SPEAKER_01]: She took a break a little bit this season to tend to her own garden.

[SPEAKER_00]: that was the only reason and even then she still chose her kids let's talk about that she chose her kids okay let's talk about their relationship um lady bridges and try to tell her kids about her man friend boyfriend that was very hilarious to me because she just couldn't get it out and also the age difference between the actors he's like 43 and she's like in her 50s but they fit well on screen together they did I thought the relationship was beautiful [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_00]: So I feel like she wanted to spend more time with her kids, but you were saying, that's not the case. [SPEAKER_00]: What do you, what's your view on that? [SPEAKER_01]: I think she picked herself like, she was just like, wait a second, being a wife is work. [SPEAKER_01]: Being a mother is work.

[SPEAKER_01]: I'm already doing mother work. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't really want to be a wife. [SPEAKER_01]: I want to be, I'm, I'm launching them off one by one. [SPEAKER_01]: Each one grants me more independence. [SPEAKER_01]: Less to do. [SPEAKER_00]: Like picking you up is a whole new task. [SPEAKER_00]: Wow, that was not my read at all.

[SPEAKER_00]: My read was like, I like mothering my kids need me. [SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't matter how old they are. [SPEAKER_00]: They have all these things and I want to be a safe space for them to come to. [SPEAKER_00]: She tried to tell them about him. [SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't working for one reason or another and she's like, I can't be distracted by this.

[SPEAKER_00]: I can't be trying to plan T's and stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, I'm just going to develop myself to them and I can't do this right now. [SPEAKER_00]: That was my read of acts. [SPEAKER_01]: I also thought it was like, I understand, I kind of blame her and you can tell me if I'm recalling this incorrectly, but it felt like they were having some good times.

[SPEAKER_01]: And she's the one who was like, oh, I'm not built to be a mistress. [SPEAKER_01]: So he's like, okay, let's get married. [SPEAKER_01]: And then she's like, wait a second, I'm not built to do that. [SPEAKER_01]: Because I'm like, why couldn't you have just had a little friend? [SPEAKER_01]: And why did it, why did we get to a proposal?

[SPEAKER_01]: Why was that necessary? [SPEAKER_01]: Like, no, it was, no, it was at that time period, especially if non-child bearing gears, they could have all the fun they wanted. [SPEAKER_01]: Just had to have to be discreet about it. [SPEAKER_01]: But being a widow was a special kind of freedom in that time, because you had your own money.

[SPEAKER_01]: You didn't have no mental in you, what to do? [SPEAKER_01]: You could have, like I said, you could, you know, have affairs, especially if you weren't having kids from those affairs, that was pretty important. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, she coulda stay, you coulda stayed our boyfriend, her personal friend.

[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it's funny you say that because the way this world is set up, I will not be surprised Well, I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't read the books if she's in her forties like they started having kids when they were like 18 or something like that So and she's very fertile. [SPEAKER_00]: She had a lot of kids She'd have a surprise oops, she'd just be so embarrassed I mean if she had a surprise boo oops, then it's time to get married.

[SPEAKER_01]: That's really your only option [SPEAKER_00]: Well, it's a shame. [SPEAKER_00]: Do you, is that the last of him like did this follow the books? [SPEAKER_01]: There's no Lord Anderson in the books. [SPEAKER_01]: There's no Hanky Panky for Violet in the books, which is another reason why I say the show is better, because I like her having her own life or her own fun.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: In fact, there's not even the relationship with Lady Dambary in the books. [SPEAKER_01]: That relationship with Lady Dambary is actually one of the more Penelope has than Violet As. [SPEAKER_00]: Penelope, that's so interesting. [SPEAKER_00]: That's one of the things that Bridgerton does well is most of the time when shows deviate from the books, they don't do well at all, but Bridgerton does well for when they deviate from the book, or when I find out from you that they're deviating because I don't know.

[SPEAKER_00]: I find that it's not anything where I'm like, oh, they shouldn't have done that. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm usually like, okay, this works. [SPEAKER_00]: I like it. [SPEAKER_00]: Uh, Mrs. Varley. [SPEAKER_00]: I only have one. [SPEAKER_00]: I was just like, God forgive Mrs. Varley for trying to save her job at the expense of Sophie.

[SPEAKER_01]: But then she swooped right back in. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's so funny, but that automated roasting spit line. [SPEAKER_01]: He probably like she does check it out that Marley's an apprior for their time. [SPEAKER_01]: Marley was great. [SPEAKER_01]: She created problems, she solved problems.

[SPEAKER_01]: She really saved the day, and how was she supposed to know? [SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't like it was malicious. [SPEAKER_01]: She just didn't know. [SPEAKER_01]: And once she knew better, she did better. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and she got her apology out of that hack. [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm glad for her and she's back home and she's in contention for it.

[SPEAKER_01]: She the new lady was sold out. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, she's not in contention for me. [SPEAKER_00]: There's only one person and one person only. [SPEAKER_01]: Who do you think it is? [SPEAKER_00]: Uh, Mrs. Mondrick or Mondrick? [SPEAKER_00]: How do you see me? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, that's a good one.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's the only person I think. [SPEAKER_00]: She's so smart. [SPEAKER_00]: She had a good good [SPEAKER_00]: Um, oh, just a little anecdote, when Lord Kent, their kid, went for Heisen in the, at her ball or whatever it was, and then I think Gregory went full of her shell, I started cracking up because of that mean, there's a meme that shows someone dancing and it was like a Bridgetton whenever they see a person of color.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like never beating the allegations, y'all. [SPEAKER_01]: Gregory's little that little girl was so cute. [SPEAKER_01]: I ended up looking her up. [SPEAKER_01]: She's 22 years old. [SPEAKER_01]: Just really short. [SPEAKER_01]: But they not whole thing was she was adorable. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_01]: Hi, a sense little kids party was great. [SPEAKER_01]: Like a lot of things came out of there. [SPEAKER_00]: Hold on, A, did you just say a little kid's party? [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I mean, there's a fruit to juice boxes in the party packs. [SPEAKER_01]: I had a little bit of that vibe.

[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I was supposed to be a T-dater's party, is that what it was? [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, A, it wasn't the party that gave us most of the that viral moment of people doing that dance. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, because it's a song, so put some respect and high-essence name, A, [SPEAKER_01]: This is a lot of money on dancers this year because they just had like so little dancing compared to other seasons.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, people are trotting. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's talk about Francesca and Michaela. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, Mickey, I was a little annoying. [SPEAKER_00]: You can't just show up on an else and you're just monopolizing his time. [SPEAKER_00]: I know he's your favorite person. [SPEAKER_00]: And she was just, at some times, I felt her noise like she was trying to prove like I know John best.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm the one who knows him. [SPEAKER_00]: I do this. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, just respect. [SPEAKER_00]: I miss him so much. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm coming here. [SPEAKER_00]: He understands me, yes, but also. [SPEAKER_00]: He's a newly married woman and he's married to an intense woman. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, when she yelled at her, I was like, yeah, do you think, Francesca, come on.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we were all team Francesca. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you, we'll just tell the servants not to make breakfast because you came girl. [SPEAKER_01]: Because you came. [SPEAKER_01]: You're not going to interrupt my household like that. [SPEAKER_01]: I actually like to the Francesca, she did her ground.

[SPEAKER_01]: She's like, I'm not going to let you steam roll me. [SPEAKER_00]: Yep. [SPEAKER_00]: The thing that's good about Francesca is she knows herself and she's okay with it. [SPEAKER_00]: Like listen, I'm a little odd, I'm a little intense. [SPEAKER_00]: I do things the way I do things. [SPEAKER_00]: We are not going to make me feel bad about it.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's how I am. [SPEAKER_00]: And I think that goes a long way. [SPEAKER_00]: And it's helped her in that moment. [SPEAKER_01]: When she, there was so like Francesca was so good in the second half. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Um, I loved how she and Michaela like made up and became friends.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: It was lovely. [SPEAKER_01]: I might, it made John so happy before he died. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, it did. [SPEAKER_00]: It did. [SPEAKER_00]: It just, he was wondering, he was so worried about it. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, how am I going to fix this? [SPEAKER_00]: And then, you know, they made up with each other.

[SPEAKER_00]: My friend was like, she can't decide if he's cute or not. [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like, I don't know what sorcery they're doing. [SPEAKER_00]: But this man is not so cute on the show, but off the show, I think he's really cute. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, like if you, I follow him on Instagram. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I'm pretty embossed, isn't it?

[SPEAKER_01]: He's a very attractive person. [SPEAKER_00]: And when it's, give you a timestamp, she's like, I'm not new to this. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not a shirt of this. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my [SPEAKER_01]: I can tell you the exact moment in my life when I first heard that song, and Sting was not singing it.

[SPEAKER_01]: It was A the Cassidy. [SPEAKER_01]: It was the 2002 Olympics in Michelle Kwon saying to fields of gold by A the Cassidy. [SPEAKER_01]: After she lost the gold medal, she's a beautiful skater, where all like she lost the gold medal, and she's skating to fields of gold, like I don't feel emotions, and I might have shed a tear.

[SPEAKER_01]: So that song brings up a lot of emotion for me. [SPEAKER_01]: It's not lying guys. [SPEAKER_01]: A lot of emotion for me, and then I saw on the list of songs that they were going to do fields of gold, and I was like, I actually went back and watched Michelle Quad at the 2002 Olympics again.

[SPEAKER_01]: And then these people have the audacity, and I knew what's coming. [SPEAKER_01]: I know what's coming, and so they played this song with the string version, like with Francesca and Jordan, I'm like, no, how could you play this song? [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway. [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for your wisdom nugget and also thank you for keeping tradition because would it be a guest spot if we don't get an ice skating reference.

[SPEAKER_00]: So you know, appreciate it. [SPEAKER_00]: It was a choice not to show John. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, it was a choice there. [SPEAKER_00]: If you go into the podcast he was there. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he was there and they just chose him. [SPEAKER_00]: Sure they had footage and they just decided last minute.

[SPEAKER_00]: We're just not, you know, going to show it and I'm like, good choice. [SPEAKER_00]: Good choice, good choice. [SPEAKER_01]: I think you know what it was. [SPEAKER_01]: Is that Francesca did so good? [SPEAKER_01]: Like you just need to watch her face to get the like the moment. [SPEAKER_00]: I think that is a good choice that they made.

[SPEAKER_00]: We're just here with Prices for Bridgetton, but up in the changing the actress and aging her up was a good choice, especially with the casting. [SPEAKER_00]: They just really got someone that was like perfect. [SPEAKER_00]: for this role. [SPEAKER_00]: And it's a shame that the award bodies think that it's only certain shows.

[SPEAKER_00]: They keep nominating the same shows. [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like this talent everywhere. [SPEAKER_00]: Every show doesn't have to be like this serious. [SPEAKER_00]: So, oh, we have to be a medical drama shot out to the pit. [SPEAKER_00]: I have no issues with the pit. [SPEAKER_00]: I [SPEAKER_00]: Just thought medical and things like that, but it shows like Bridgeton.

[SPEAKER_00]: There is talent there and there's absolutely nothing wrong if the actress who plays Francesca gets nominated because the girl is acting So I feel like we've talked a lot about not our main stuff, but a lot. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean the Francesca stuff is truly its own story within itself [SPEAKER_01]: Um, sorry.

[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, he's reading himself for me in the second half. [SPEAKER_00]: Sorry. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, you say that, but this was my not an issue. [SPEAKER_00]: It's not an issue for me, but this was my thought in the part one, too, where I'm just like, Sophie and Benedict are seem like supporting characters in their own season.

[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that's my issue with it. [SPEAKER_00]: Again, I had no other words, so I just had to say issue. [SPEAKER_00]: Because anytime I'm talking to my friends about it, we end up talking about everything else. [SPEAKER_00]: And we're like, oh yeah, and then Sophie, and then it's almost like there'd be not after thought, but they after thought, disappointing actors, and they're on season.

[SPEAKER_01]: Everything since the first season, though, is very, it's the same complaint. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, same thing with season two, season three, everybody's like Penelope and Colin, where side things, there was too many other storylines going on. [SPEAKER_01]: There was a whole other wedding in their season.

[SPEAKER_01]: I just like the ensembleness of it all, and trust me, I have plenty to say about episode 8. [SPEAKER_01]: I just feel like episode 6, I mean episode 7, they were supporting characters in that episode. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, but you know, who else was the, had a major storyline in season 3, Francesca.

[SPEAKER_01]: Francesca, as I get, Eloise redeemed herself in the second half for me, in many, many, many ways. [SPEAKER_01]: When she and the biscuits and was the flavor of the biscuits at the funeral reception, it's actually was the only person looking at Francesca and actually knowing what she needed in the moment.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that was very nice though. [SPEAKER_01]: And that very stupid weird examination that they did to see Francesca was pregnant, Eloise, [SPEAKER_00]: Can we talk about that? [SPEAKER_00]: Just to make sure that I got it right, she knew she wasn't pregnant, right? [SPEAKER_00]: Or she was actually in her, okay.

[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like she said, my courses are late by a few days. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, your husband just died during a lot of stress that can mess with your period. [SPEAKER_01]: Or what you actually want is to be pregnant and so you're like, okay, I'm pregnant. [SPEAKER_01]: Um, my read. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that was my read was she was just really hopeful that she was pregnant.

[SPEAKER_00]: So why would she go ahead with the examination or is just finishing up the lie like committing to the lie? [SPEAKER_01]: But it's not. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think it was a lie. [SPEAKER_01]: I think she thought she wanted to be pregnant and she thought she was pregnant. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's true.

[SPEAKER_00]: I feel so bad for her. [SPEAKER_01]: But it is at that time period. [SPEAKER_01]: What that man, doctor, you know, messing around with her insides is going to, that's, you won't know. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: That was the weirdest thing. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, especially for us. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, the only thing that confused me was when, uh, valet was suddenly like, oh, my daughter and she was like, oh, you feel like you know the same thing.

[SPEAKER_00]: I was wondering, I was like, if she's saying that she knows what it's like to have a miscarriage and I was like, I wasn't sure about that part, but for the most part, I was thinking that she was just hoping. [SPEAKER_01]: In, in the book, she has an actual miscarriage. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, but in the show, there's no miscarriage.

[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, um, the Queen and Lady Dambary, how are we feeling this second half? [SPEAKER_01]: I'm just trying to figure out why it's so important that Lady Damper is leaving. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, is this just a storyline for the show? [SPEAKER_01]: Is she taking a season off? [SPEAKER_00]: Nope, because I looked that up.

[SPEAKER_00]: Cause I'm like, someone give me a payoff for this whole thing. [SPEAKER_00]: And I was like, is she leaving the show? [SPEAKER_00]: Is she going somewhere? [SPEAKER_00]: Is there a sabbatical? [SPEAKER_00]: And there will like, no, they confirmed that she's not going anywhere. [SPEAKER_00]: She's gonna be back.

[SPEAKER_00]: they just wanted to prove, what was it something about their friend? [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, to show the power and balance in their friendship. [SPEAKER_00]: I was like, there were no other ways? [SPEAKER_00]: No. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so she's just taking a nice trip and then she's coming back.

[SPEAKER_00]: Like, by season five, she'll be back and she'll be back. [SPEAKER_01]: That was weird. [SPEAKER_01]: My trip was so lovely. [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_01]: We're hoping she brings somebody back with her who might be important to a future season. [SPEAKER_01]: There she go. [SPEAKER_00]: No spoilers.

[SPEAKER_00]: The queen was a one woman hair show. [SPEAKER_00]: Like they went all out with her hair styles. [SPEAKER_00]: This season. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they always do, but this season, I think it was created. [SPEAKER_00]: All right, Rachel, like you say that. [SPEAKER_01]: I couldn't recall a single hair style with queen.

[SPEAKER_01]: Are you serious? [SPEAKER_00]: At some point, she had like a huge giant heart on her head. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, okay, I kind of remember that one because it was bright. [SPEAKER_01]: You know how I feel about Prades. [SPEAKER_01]: I love Mr. [SPEAKER_01]: Hates' y'all. [SPEAKER_01]: And, rather than that, no, I don't.

[SPEAKER_00]: I don't. [SPEAKER_00]: Uh, Troll these the embodiments of when someone says heaving bosom. [SPEAKER_00]: I think that's what I think of. [SPEAKER_01]: No, because her bosom's always out. [SPEAKER_01]: They're always heaving. [SPEAKER_01]: They are always heaving. [SPEAKER_01]: She's always breathing a lot.

[SPEAKER_00]: She always looks startled. [SPEAKER_00]: Every time she burrs, I'm like, no, oh, oh, oh, so there it was. [SPEAKER_00]: If we're talking about useless returning characters, I'm glad they're there. [SPEAKER_00]: Like if I had to pick, I'm glad they're there. [SPEAKER_00]: But Collins was so useless.

[SPEAKER_01]: So useless. [SPEAKER_00]: Nothing. [SPEAKER_00]: There was nothing for him. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, let's talk about Sophie and Benedict. [SPEAKER_00]: I just, let's, let's talk about the, um, [SPEAKER_00]: She's another person that did a fantastic job as a villain. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: She was great.

[SPEAKER_00]: She said she fully enjoyed being a bad character. [SPEAKER_00]: The two step sisters were great. [SPEAKER_00]: It was a good season. [SPEAKER_00]: It was good acting. [SPEAKER_01]: But it was a good thing. [SPEAKER_01]: I find, I find, I wish that they could have explained [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, there's more.

[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I also, I love them when they were on the podcast. [SPEAKER_01]: Katie Leong is Scottish and she's got a Scottish accent and it is just a lightful to listen to. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, I really wish that she could play a role where she actually just gets to use her own voice because I've just, like, she, her voice just sounds so amazing.

[SPEAKER_00]: Wow. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, I got to check that out and see what it's about. [SPEAKER_00]: But are you going to tell us about the evilness [SPEAKER_01]: I feel like in the podcast they explained how she was mad that she never gave her husband a child and then Sophie was there and she was a child of his.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I feel like the show they never actually got around to really explaining that like that is why I hate you. [SPEAKER_01]: I hate you because you are my husband's child and I could never give him one. [SPEAKER_00]: So I think that in that's interesting that it was in the podcast because I feel like we got a different reason on the show in that scene where everything culminates where she's just like I keep losing everyone and then I lost him and then You were just there and she like almost like she blamed her and then but we established that you hated her on site though yeah, so I did actually that is one mistake I think they made [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't think Arament has motivations or properly explored or explained.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it just seemed like I hate this girl. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't care where she came from what her story is, so. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, um, there's another useless character, Lord Pennwood. [SPEAKER_00]: I assume he is related to Sophie. [SPEAKER_00]: What are you talking about?

[SPEAKER_01]: That's Sophie's dad. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you mean, Crestida's husband? [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, but then we had, okay, there's another Eloise redemption moment where I'm like, I love Eloise this season. [SPEAKER_01]: Because now Eloise's friendship with Crestida is what gets Sophie into the house, so she finds the will.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, but what he's related to Sophie, right? [SPEAKER_00]: Hey, I mean, technically, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, because we have to report that a little bit more. [SPEAKER_00]: That's exactly what I were, I was leading to. [SPEAKER_00]: interaction, then he just showed up, but for him to do that man in the speaking line, no, that's much for him to be the owner of the house and the house that they were living in.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, Sophie never saw this man at all, even when she was little, even though they look like they're five years apart in age. [SPEAKER_00]: So it's just explaining what was that about and nothing at all, it would just like a whole that they could have filled. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because, true be told, if you're the heir to a man, no matter how old he is, he knows who his heir is, they're keeping in touch, his heir is trying to figure out, is the wife pregnant, have I lost my place, and their family, you know, they're related, so, but yeah, you know, I didn't even think about that, that's a good point, they did not exploit that properly, but I guess it would have just been another unnecessary story line, like Sophie wasn't looking for family, she was, she was just looking to find out what it was in that will,

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because I was just going to say like what you actually because they didn't give him anything I was going to ask you what you We know about him like was he in the book. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think he's even a featured character in the book Okay Like Sophie's father dies They don't even talk about like the Title passing or who it passed to they might like make mention of it, but yeah Like the whole Everything that sort of comes out in the last episode is like [SPEAKER_01]: one scene in the book and like executed very differently.

[SPEAKER_01]: But once again, I feel like the show did it better. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: The show did it better because Sophie has agency and makes things happen. [SPEAKER_01]: Sophie hatches a plot to go and find the will. [SPEAKER_01]: In the book, there are all, [SPEAKER_01]: and then it comes to get her out of jail, and everything comes out about the will, and actually this is the one thing I didn't like about the show.

[SPEAKER_01]: In the book, Pozy finds her voice and stands up to her mother and is like, I'm the one who gave her the shoe clips and then the magistrates like, so she just didn't do anything, so she just didn't do anything, let's go. [SPEAKER_01]: So and it's like Pozy's like power moment and they took it from her in the show, and I did not like that.

[SPEAKER_01]: And then, Aramint is so hateful that Posey goes and lives with them. [SPEAKER_00]: They had to let Benedict be her night in shining armor. [SPEAKER_01]: But you know what they didn't let Benedict be here. [SPEAKER_01]: She was her own night in shining armor. [SPEAKER_01]: That's what I mean.

[SPEAKER_01]: I love Sophie. [SPEAKER_01]: She's so plucky. [SPEAKER_01]: Sophie figures out how to get into the house. [SPEAKER_01]: Sophie figures out how to, with assistance from her friends, how to read the will. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, in the other one, Benedict and his mom did it all. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I think what I mean is like when they took her to jail, if a Bridgeton did not come save her, she would have robbed it in jail.

[SPEAKER_00]: Correct. [SPEAKER_00]: Now it would have been it. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, I don't think I realized the cloud that the Bridgeton [SPEAKER_00]: family have like I knew they were powerful but I'm just like when you say Bridgetton people are just like they stand up straighter and they really respect them and they talk about them.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm also chuckling because we said let's go back to Sophie and Benedict and then we went somewhere else and she said we did not talk about it. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, let's actually talk about them. [SPEAKER_00]: They finally consummate their relationship and I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: I've been watching for the last three seasons and I don't know why I was still surprised when I saw a boob.

[SPEAKER_00]: I was just like, oh no, they're now Because it's a delusion. [SPEAKER_01]: You don't expect to see a boob on television. [SPEAKER_01]: I was the same way I'm like they might put it in the contract like you cannot audition for this role unless you're willing to show your boob Did um Kate Kate can you show me any dish?

[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know she [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if it's being corrected, I don't know if it's being corrected, I don't know if it's being corrected, I don't know if it's being corrected, I don't know if it's being corrected, I don't know if it's being corrected, I don't know if it's being corrected, I don't know if it's being corrected, I don't know if it's being corrected, I don't know if it's being corrected, I don't know if it's being corrected, I don't know if it's being corrected, I don't know if it's being corrected, I don't know if it's being corrected, I don't know if it's being corrected, I don't know if it's being corrected, I don't know if it's being corrected, I don't know if it's being corrected, I don't know if it's being corrected, I don't know if it's being corrected, I don't know if it's being corrected, I don't know if it's being corrected, I don't

[SPEAKER_01]: I told you, I told you understood what you meant. [SPEAKER_00]: I knew it. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_00]: But it's also like, you know, all this reports come out that Gen Z people are having less sex than now. [SPEAKER_00]: People don't want sex scenes and all that stuff.

[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: I just saw it. [SPEAKER_01]: Those are two things together. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I don't have it like says so one and bless me. [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't know that we had been some change and how much new to TV one on television. [SPEAKER_00]: There was like a whole thing and then there were articles all around, but I also don't know if it's fact because I don't know what's fact anymore and everybody has the same brain.

[SPEAKER_00]: You can't have opposing thoughts, so I don't know what's real or not. [SPEAKER_00]: But it was there. [SPEAKER_00]: It was there for a while, like people were just, you know, talking about it. [SPEAKER_00]: But [SPEAKER_00]: Um, yeah, so that's how we got to the part that we talked about at the beginning of the episode where she was worried about being pregnant and when she finally said that she got her period, I thought she was lying really [SPEAKER_00]: I thought she was lying.

[SPEAKER_00]: I thought she was like, if I tell him that I'm having his baby, this man is not going to let me go for sure. [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm not going to do that to myself. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm just going to go away and go to the Americas and we'll be done. [SPEAKER_00]: So later on, when I found out that she actually wasn't pregnant, that's when the relief came, but I thought she was lying the whole time.

[SPEAKER_00]: I kept looking at that belly, like I think I'm going to put a bump, something that happened. [SPEAKER_00]: But one thing I am part of myself, I noticed when her necklace wasn't there anymore. [SPEAKER_00]: It was there all the time and then she she was sitting and doing something Didn't even told us yet.

[SPEAKER_00]: I noticed her necklace wasn't there, but again, I tell you guys. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm catastrophic I just thought that somebody was gonna find that necklace cleaning out his room Which I'm just like so no one cleaned his room the entire time. [SPEAKER_01]: That was that was a big mistake You all people the God this whole army of people clean and clean and all the time and they didn't notice a whole necklace on Benj and no [SPEAKER_00]: Yep.

[SPEAKER_00]: So, and then he just found it because I'm just like, look at you, you found that so. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm happy for them, is there anything else? [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so the whole Benedict, find in the necklace, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Figuring it out, that's not how it happens in the book. [SPEAKER_01]: In the book, they have these young cousins who they come over and baby sit and then Sophie plays a game where she has to wear like a mask or like a blindfold just to wear blindfold and so Benedict just comes up and sees her in the blindfold is like, wait, it's her and then he gets real pissy and real matter her.

[SPEAKER_01]: Um, so that was a good change out. [SPEAKER_01]: Um, I thought that in the show, he's like, I get it. [SPEAKER_01]: I get why you didn't tell me in the book. [SPEAKER_01]: He's all like, how dare you. [SPEAKER_01]: And I think you won't even speak to her. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's all she ends up leaving and going.

[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, that was a good change. [SPEAKER_00]: That sounds like Benedicto. [SPEAKER_00]: That one scene where he was yelling at his mom. [SPEAKER_00]: I was like, how dare you? [SPEAKER_00]: Do you know what Mrs. Bridgetton does for you, kids? [SPEAKER_00]: Stop it. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, on one hand, I was like, how dare you?

[SPEAKER_01]: Hi, what am I doing? [SPEAKER_01]: What am I doing? [SPEAKER_01]: What am I doing? [SPEAKER_01]: That's down to my business. [SPEAKER_01]: You, I know you, having a hint, you, T. Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_00]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_00]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, my question is about the voiceover. [SPEAKER_00]: I thought that he sounded different and I was like, wait, is it still, uh, Julie?

[SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: It's still her, but they thought that they made her sound a little bit lower, class. [SPEAKER_01]: which is supposed to give us a clue as to who it could possibly be. [SPEAKER_02]: What do you think? [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you didn't know it. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you didn't know it.

[SPEAKER_01]: Is it in a book? [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: No, I don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: It's not in the book. [SPEAKER_01]: This whole lady whistle down the second is This is a complete creation of the show. [SPEAKER_00]: I just saw something in my notes, Mark is telling Lady Bridgetton that he's not going to hang around, waiting for it to make a decision, and I wrote, Mark just knew your worth king.

[SPEAKER_01]: I thought it was a very pleasant, sorry, I thought it was a very pleasant breakup. [SPEAKER_01]: I wasn't mad at anybody afterwards. [SPEAKER_00]: I wasn't. [SPEAKER_00]: I just like it's unfortunate. [SPEAKER_00]: You had a fine man who was ready to Dick you down whenever you wanted to and I don't know we got all the way like everything that you said earlier Let's propose.

[SPEAKER_00]: Let's do this. [SPEAKER_00]: I want more and I'm like you've been googlyizing each other for how many years and now we're just like that's it I hope it's not gone. [SPEAKER_00]: He's very nice to look at [SPEAKER_00]: I hope he's not gone either. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm hoping they can reestablish their relationship and just be good friends.

[SPEAKER_01]: They don't need to get married. [SPEAKER_01]: They don't need to even live together. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but the thing is he said he was tired of sneaking around if they're not together to what is his story. [SPEAKER_00]: It is none. [SPEAKER_00]: There's no others. [SPEAKER_01]: He has a whole sister.

[SPEAKER_01]: They can revisit that relationship in some way. [SPEAKER_00]: Boring, you don't want it. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a romance TV show. [SPEAKER_00]: Give us the yearning for someone who hates it. [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, the Butler, I forget his name, the Queen's Butler. [SPEAKER_00]: I hope. [SPEAKER_00]: Gremsley, yes, I hope that man gets paid because he has no words, he just stands.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's it. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, I am hoping, I don't know what kind of storyline it could have. [SPEAKER_01]: Like another like Queen Charlotte spin off type thing. [SPEAKER_00]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_00]: Both of who? [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, can we have Gramsley, can we have like Violet? [SPEAKER_01]: Because Violet and Denvery were a big part of the Queen Charlotte story.

[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, can we get more story from them? [SPEAKER_01]: This whole discussion about Violet as a child. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, can we get a whole story there? [SPEAKER_01]: Someone said we could have a whole spit off of Violet as a child. [SPEAKER_01]: Just like she was telling Ben and Dick about.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I want to see what you like. [SPEAKER_00]: Violet and Edmund, the origin story. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, that's what I want to see. [SPEAKER_00]: I want to see her reaction every single time she found out she was pregnant. [SPEAKER_00]: I want to see how they decided let's go down the alphabet and name our children that way.

[SPEAKER_00]: What do they want for their children and just how in love they were? [SPEAKER_00]: I think that's a very good idea. [SPEAKER_00]: But again, Queen Charlotte was a... [SPEAKER_00]: love story gift to Ted Serrando says what mother law he's ahead of Netflix so I don't know if we can do that again her her mother really loved Bridgetton and I think cractor joke and we're just like how are we interesting if we saw the story yada yada and then they made it happen it is good to have money you just say things just ingest and then make it a reality and you know she was tragically killed [SPEAKER_00]: You know, she got to enjoy this.

[SPEAKER_00]: So I think we're just somewhere else. [SPEAKER_01]: Lesson there is no matter how much money you have tragedy can still come your way. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, yeah, it's that too. [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, so I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: We got that out of, it's not luck, but it's randomness.

[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: Now we can be intent. [SPEAKER_01]: I would not mind. [SPEAKER_01]: It just, Queen Charlotte is, okay, I said that season four. [SPEAKER_01]: It's the best. [SPEAKER_01]: Queen Charlotte's better than that. [SPEAKER_00]: No, Quintrona is better, but it's hard to include it in the seasons.

[SPEAKER_00]: I find that whenever people say it, they always, they're always like, Quintrona is the best, like it's almost like we're not going to put it against the rest of them. [SPEAKER_00]: It's on its own. [SPEAKER_00]: And then the hunger. [SPEAKER_00]: Eh? [SPEAKER_00]: What? [SPEAKER_00]: No.

[SPEAKER_00]: No, okay. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think so. [SPEAKER_00]: No, I'm just saying like it's so good that people don't want to rank it against all the other seasons, but I find that that's the common denominator, the common way people describe it. [SPEAKER_00]: Everyone's just like, oh, I'm so good.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's the best it says, okay, my rankings are then they start going, but they never say, good Charlotte is number one is just like a way from it. [SPEAKER_00]: But I think it's the same genre. [SPEAKER_00]: I would say that for that. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I will say that on threads, I've seen plenty of people rank the show and rank Queen Charlotte as one.

[SPEAKER_00]: Great. [SPEAKER_00]: It's on Hange too. [SPEAKER_01]: So there's that. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not disputing that. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm just saying you're like, oh, I've never seen people. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, I've seen lots of people do that. [SPEAKER_00]: I was talking about my real life. [SPEAKER_00]: So that was it for the highlights.

[SPEAKER_00]: This season ends with a new issue of whistle down because people don't know that those are new [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we're getting there. [SPEAKER_00]: But that was how like that ended. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, one question before we go. [SPEAKER_00]: I wanted to ask In the book was the queen this hungry for gossip.

[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, she told you the queen is not a character in the book. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yes, you have you have I forgot that's okay. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, okay Because I it almost feels like they don't know what to do with her anymore [SPEAKER_00]: And it's like, give this woman a hobby. [SPEAKER_01]: I will also say, because this is part of like the queen and the gossip and the, is she a maid?

[SPEAKER_01]: Oh no, she's a cousin. [SPEAKER_01]: Um, in the books, Armenta goes along with the story that she's told to go along with under threat of bad things. [SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, like, people aren't dumb. [SPEAKER_01]: And so there's always sort of like a little suspicion about Sophie and Benedict.

[SPEAKER_01]: And so they do end up like we're treating to the countryside. [SPEAKER_01]: They don't come to town that much. [SPEAKER_01]: They're not outcast, but they're definitely not incast, if you will. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, Bridges and things that they're Marvel now, and there was an after-credit scene, but the scene was just the wedding between Sophie and Benedict, and I'm gonna lean on your expertise so let me know why they did that.

[SPEAKER_00]: Who was the point? [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, why do I think they did that? [SPEAKER_01]: They will have to tell you why they did that. [SPEAKER_01]: All I know is that the reddits and the fandom were have been offended since season two. [SPEAKER_01]: They're like, oh, so the only Asian lead doesn't get a wedding scene, no wedding dress.

[SPEAKER_01]: We don't get to see their wedding, how rude, how rude. [SPEAKER_01]: I was like, [SPEAKER_01]: They, before the show we've been premiered, they were like, if they do to the East Asian, what they did to the South Asian, with no wedding, I'm gonna be mad. [SPEAKER_01]: And so I don't know, maybe they were listed there like, okay, we must have a wedding, or these people will kill us.

[SPEAKER_00]: But they gave them like a hidden wedding? [SPEAKER_01]: Well, we didn't see Kate at Anthony at Eddie Wedding. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's true. [SPEAKER_01]: And I sort of understand like, it's romance. [SPEAKER_01]: You should end with a wedding. [SPEAKER_00]: No, they're right about that, but I'm saying like, yes, they gave it wedding, but it's a hidden wedding.

[SPEAKER_00]: Have to be put turned off their TV until people are like, make sure you stay for the credits. [SPEAKER_00]: It's not like it was a celebrated outfit. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's just call the speed of speed. [SPEAKER_00]: Daphne is wedding. [SPEAKER_00]: But is it the whole main thing? [SPEAKER_00]: Is that an excuse?

[SPEAKER_00]: There's no excuse for Anthony, but I'm just saying. [SPEAKER_00]: What is it again I ask what was the point of having an after credits waiting see I think okay part of me is like since they were bullied into doing this after credits wedding [SPEAKER_01]: Like, they were both, I feel like they were bullied into doing the wedding at all, and that's why they did the after credits.

[SPEAKER_01]: But I loved the wedding, loved it. [SPEAKER_01]: I loved the Anthony and Kate actually managed to be there. [SPEAKER_01]: I loved that all of Sophie's like made and in-service friends could be there. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Crabtries were there. [SPEAKER_01]: It was a very nice scene.

[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, in terms of story, no, it doesn't add anything. [SPEAKER_01]: But I'm also like, I'm sorry, at the end of Bridgetton. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm in like a little bit of a coma. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not gonna get up. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not gonna switch off the credits. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm just gonna be like an offer a minute.

[SPEAKER_01]: And that's what happened. [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't know there was an after credit scene. [SPEAKER_01]: I just didn't turn it off and then it came up. [SPEAKER_00]: And I was like, oh, I think it kind of answered the question for me. [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe they had a wedding like this to be able to for the lower class and upper class to mingle together and be guests of the wedding without feeling weird.

[SPEAKER_01]: Because and that's why they did it out of my [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, okay. [SPEAKER_00]: Sorry. [SPEAKER_01]: That's my theory. [SPEAKER_01]: That's my theory. [SPEAKER_00]: No, it's right. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that's the only thing that makes sense. [SPEAKER_00]: It's just then we just don't have an answer for why it was an aftercreated tweeting.

[SPEAKER_01]: Correct. [SPEAKER_01]: I love that Alfie walked her down the aisle and made my I was so happy. [SPEAKER_01]: And Hazel and John the footman were just making eyes at each other. [SPEAKER_01]: I loved it all. [SPEAKER_01]: So cute. [SPEAKER_01]: So. [SPEAKER_00]: That was it. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm the only thing is like the title credits we saw in memory of Nicholas Bainbridge and Tony Cooper looked it up and they were the scenic artists and unit driver of the show.

[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, it was a good, oh, do you have anything else? [SPEAKER_01]: I just, uh, I'm just not sure that we, um, covered. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't really have anything. [SPEAKER_00]: There is, like, I don't, I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: What else there is, we know we did.

[SPEAKER_00]: I think we covered all the things. [SPEAKER_00]: We covered that she stood up for herself and she saved herself. [SPEAKER_00]: We covered that she had a wedding. [SPEAKER_00]: We covered that she consummated her Love with Benedict. [SPEAKER_01]: We covered that We thought we didn't talk about the bathtub and that's another homage to book readers because they have a bathtub seen in the book that people really like so they kept it in the show [SPEAKER_00]: That's why we didn't talk about it because I didn't mean the book and I didn't even know what things existed.

[SPEAKER_00]: So, no, I think we did. [SPEAKER_00]: I think we covered a lot of like what was happening with them. [SPEAKER_00]: I think all in all as a story, they did good as usual because at the end of the day, even if you say, oh, it's number four, number three, number two. [SPEAKER_00]: The one consistent for me is Bridges and at the end of the day is a very enjoyable show.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm tempted to watch it all over again, but once again, who has the time? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that is the question. [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm looking forward to season five and it's going to be always. [SPEAKER_01]: I just have to keep on saying it and it'll be true. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm telling you, I'm gonna have to reset my whole brain because we are watching someone and I know they try to lay it and set it up for us, you know, someone who's just been like anti-marriages and establishment and then when she was sitting with her friends and family and she says I'm like, oh, it's not that bad and everyone's like, are you okay?

[SPEAKER_00]: You have a temperature? [SPEAKER_00]: What's going on? [SPEAKER_01]: I love to her making up with Cressida, love to it. [SPEAKER_01]: I love to everything about Cressida being back, you know, pink is my favorite color. [SPEAKER_00]: please. [SPEAKER_00]: I think I was like we see a familiar face still in her ugly dresses and that's Crescita.

[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I think the lady is it Mondric or Mondric? [SPEAKER_00]: Didn't even talk about the Mondricis. [SPEAKER_00]: I was going to say like her idea of standing up to Crescita, like standing up Crescita, the queen standing up Crescita, her party, that was kind of me. [SPEAKER_01]: That was so mean, but then in a way, Penelope kind of saved it by like creating a big thing at her, like now her party is the one where we'll hold on announce that she was retiring.

[SPEAKER_01]: She gave her a moment without really ruining her party. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but she also didn't know that was going to happen when she gave the ideas like just don't come to her. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, like, we've, like, I'd be forgetting that Cresda was really evil to Penelope, really evil to Penelope for years, so sometimes I don't mind her, I mean, I enjoyed her this season, I'm glad she's back and she's actually happy in her pink house, but I had to be reminded like, wait, homegirl was actually evil for a while, yeah, she was and just say, like, Eloise has always always been like a good person.

[SPEAKER_00]: Like Eloise is like a well-rounded character in that she has her flaws, but at her heart of hearts and her core, she's always been like a good friend, a good sister. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, she had all the things with Haisin, but who's perfect? [SPEAKER_00]: And they're siblings, you know, it's like, yeah, it happens.

[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, this season was so good, we had Haisin's like, things like poor Haisin does the child who never even met her dad. [SPEAKER_01]: And like facing the idea that you might fall in love and they might die. [SPEAKER_01]: Those are such big, big emotions, so real, too. [SPEAKER_00]: Drama, so, yep.

[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, I mean, give you in the right order. [SPEAKER_00]: Any last thing? [SPEAKER_00]: Well, that's only God. [SPEAKER_00]: That's only God for that. [SPEAKER_00]: That's all I got. [SPEAKER_00]: So, I mean, I hope you guys enjoyed the season. [SPEAKER_00]: If you did, let me know what you think.

[SPEAKER_00]: And that's it. [SPEAKER_00]: We just sit here and wait till season five. [SPEAKER_00]: Is it next year? [SPEAKER_00]: Have they announced it? [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't think so that they're trying to go a little faster, which means six months shorter than our last wait. [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah.

[SPEAKER_00]: Well, eight always a pleasure to have you on. [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for coming on. [SPEAKER_00]: Thanks for having me. [SPEAKER_00]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_00]: Guys, you know what to find me? [SPEAKER_00]: It is all to call MAFS and all of the socials and Instagram and blue sky and and threads.
