HOW GOOD IS THIS GUY??? Álex Baena keeps dominating for Atlético Madrid

Entering Atlético de Madrid's Champions League tilt against Bayern Munich, Álex Baena says this is the happiest he's felt since his move to the Spanish capital.

Baena's form sure says as much. He's scored one goal and provided three assists in the past six games, and he's more than doubled his goal tally in LaLiga relative to last season. He is Atleti's top scorer with five goals in all competitions; he scored twice across all of 2025/26.

What's changed for Baena, and how has he become so fundamental to Diego Simeone after such an injury- and inconsistency-plagued debut season in Madrid?
