<p>On Today’s cast we continue our coverage of the Tanith first and only and their leader Ibram Gaunt. We open with them entering Voltemand and their first interaction with Commander Stern, and Gaunt promptly not making friends there. We then do a little dive into the characters that make up the core of the Ghosts in the stories. After that we move onto the events of Bucephalon and another of the many “divine” interventions therein. After that we dive hard into their meetings and interactions with Hector Drevere and Draker Flense on both Fortis Binary and of course Menazoid Prime.</p><p><a href="patreon.com/The40kLorecast" rel="nofollow">Patreon</a></p><p><a href="etsy.com/shop/The40kLorecast" rel="nofollow">Merchandise</a></p><p><a href="Discord.gg/40klc" rel="nofollow">Discord Link:</a></p><p><a href="the40klorecast.com/" rel="nofollow">Our Website</a></p><p><a href="open.spotify.com/show/7dEDiuP31Ap81EHtWMS3LG?s…; rel="nofollow">Retro Recall</a></p><p><a href="youtube.com/@BradChester71" rel="nofollow">Brad Channel</a></p><br/><br/>Our Sponsors:<br/>* Check out Progressive: progressive.com<br/>* Check out Quince and use my code 40KLORE for a great deal: quince.com<br/>* Check out Shopify and use my code shopify.com/lore for a great deal: shopify.com<br/><br/><br/>Ad… Inquiries: <a href='redcircle.com/brands'>https://redcircle.com… & Opt-Out: <a href='redcircle.com/privacy'>https://redcircle.co…;

[SPEAKER_00]: Today, we are continuing our coverage of the 10th first and only with the 10th, first and only, not making a bunch of friends. [SPEAKER_00]: Mostly because they keep bumping into assholes, who they then piss off and start blood feuds with.
[SPEAKER_01]: But I do love that this gets really, really angry real fast. [SPEAKER_01]: You're like, we actually saved your guys' lives. [SPEAKER_01]: Why are you so mad at us? [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_00]: Especially when people comment like super old cast where it's like, oh yeah, I did say that two years ago and I was wrong.
[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, [SPEAKER_00]: Uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh [SPEAKER_00]: links in the show notes that you have links to our YouTube channel for a Q&A that we probably should do at some point this month.

[SPEAKER_00]: Can't I believe I haven't done Thailand till now? [SPEAKER_00]: So one pointed out to me and I was like, oh crap, so we're doing that right now. [SPEAKER_00]: So sorry, by the way, that's not doing Thailand before this. [SPEAKER_00]: But we're doing so up funny. [SPEAKER_00]: Now, this is the province and southern Thailand that holds basically the deepest and happiest place in my heart.
[SPEAKER_00]: And because I really do love it. [SPEAKER_00]: This is where Kosovoia is, Kothangan, some of the most beautiful places I've been to in my life for over there. [SPEAKER_00]: For those who don't know, Thailand's awesome, just full stop. [SPEAKER_00]: That's really it. [SPEAKER_00]: I kickboxed for actually Moitai for close to 10 years and I was fortunate [SPEAKER_00]: which allowed me to go over to Thailand quite a bit and visit.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm also an avid scuba divers. [SPEAKER_00]: This is kind of a nice one too. [SPEAKER_00]: This is effectively my mechka. [SPEAKER_00]: I wake up in the morning. [SPEAKER_00]: I go to the dock. [SPEAKER_00]: I scuba dive. [SPEAKER_00]: The two or three dives. [SPEAKER_00]: Then I get back.
[SPEAKER_00]: I grab lunch. [SPEAKER_00]: I go to the gym. [SPEAKER_00]: I kickbox. [SPEAKER_00]: I get dinner. [SPEAKER_00]: I get some beer. [SPEAKER_00]: And I repeat. [SPEAKER_00]: And it's kind of like heaven. [SPEAKER_00]: Pilons, African, incredible. [SPEAKER_00]: But Serothani, though, is in the southern part.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's the most beautiful part. [SPEAKER_00]: She-o-line lake is right there. [SPEAKER_00]: That's the one people you've seen where it's the mountains coming straight down into this beautiful, like, crystal-y blue ocean. [SPEAKER_00]: Kosa Moe is an island you can get through where you basically get around by longboat while you're there, which is fun as hell.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then you have just Kotao. [SPEAKER_00]: And Kotao for scuba divers is heaven. [SPEAKER_00]: It's... [SPEAKER_00]: basically perfect. [SPEAKER_00]: It's rich in sea life, everything's near the surface and the water's warm enough that you can do with three mil. [SPEAKER_00]: I can do a three mil shorty or I actually think I'd do a couple of times on a just board shorts.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then the best part of Thailand is the people. [SPEAKER_00]: Ties are some of the kindest and most welcoming people I've ever met in my life. [SPEAKER_00]: Even it actually kept me cake boxing. [SPEAKER_00]: My body did not want to keep cake boxing, but it was the ties who were actually teaching that kept me going back and I wanted to spend time with them.
[SPEAKER_00]: That kept me in it. [SPEAKER_00]: I know a lot of you will tell you that's the same story. [SPEAKER_00]: It's the sport. [SPEAKER_00]: We'll take a lot out of you, but man Into the wonderful cultures and when you go over there, it's just so welcoming So if you haven't been to Thailand go and if you have been go again and if you went there and had a bad time It's because you're in a So [SPEAKER_00]: Well, it's, uh, well, just calling it out discord jumping to our discord link in the show notes.
[SPEAKER_00]: Discord's been very fun. [SPEAKER_00]: It always is very fun. [SPEAKER_00]: Painting competitions, lore questions, advice, people discussing how to play the game of the 11th. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm still learning it, which is good because I'm have to play a bunch in the next 30 days. [SPEAKER_00]: Also, everyone's still learning it.
[SPEAKER_00]: It is not going well. [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, but also some really fun stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: We've got fan theories. [SPEAKER_00]: We've got literature recommendations gaming. [SPEAKER_00]: It's actually if you do play Space Marine 2, it's a great place to finally be able to play with. [SPEAKER_00]: We have a whole channel dedicated to that, which is cool as hell.
[SPEAKER_00]: People talking about movies, people talking about really everything. [SPEAKER_00]: So jump on it. [SPEAKER_01]: Something about the upcoming total war, which looks insane. [SPEAKER_00]: And it's not, let's not get too excited. [SPEAKER_00]: I've learned my lesson over the years. [SPEAKER_01]: I will not take my excitement away from me, John.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just fighting about it. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm just not even looking at it during like when it comes out, we'll find out. [SPEAKER_00]: That's my viewpoint real quick though. [SPEAKER_00]: Big thanks to our whole moderator team within the discord. [SPEAKER_00]: They have done a really wonderful job of with this community.
[SPEAKER_00]: I know it is very hard to moderate. [SPEAKER_00]: There. [SPEAKER_00]: All right. [SPEAKER_00]: Back to it. [SPEAKER_00]: The sub-out world crusades. [SPEAKER_00]: Ha, so they were looking up and then things kind of were a bit different. [SPEAKER_00]: So, well, warm Master Slade up. [SPEAKER_01]: We ended up with some conspiracies here in very soon and some, oh, technology.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we haven't had some issues. [SPEAKER_00]: So, the Crusade actually is off to a pretty good start. [SPEAKER_00]: You've got Slade is dead. [SPEAKER_00]: Unfortunately, the original warmaster is dead, but it is still going well. [SPEAKER_00]: Nadsie Bear is dead. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to keep calling in that forever.
[SPEAKER_00]: the forces of chaos are running away in the region for the most part, short-term. [SPEAKER_01]: There is a poor lord. [SPEAKER_01]: Tom on the mo. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, oh yeah, by the way, this was not a small incursion. [SPEAKER_00]: Chaos owns this part of town. [SPEAKER_00]: And it's not a nice part of town.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's like Toledo. [SPEAKER_00]: But the... [SPEAKER_00]: The new warlord is, at least on the outset, the guy for the job. [SPEAKER_00]: And now Maccharoth is an interesting warmaster. [SPEAKER_00]: He is kind of all or nothing in campaigns. [SPEAKER_00]: And one of the things that makes him so successful is he's very firm in his commitment to his plans.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is something that undermines a lot of imperial guard command. [SPEAKER_00]: When you read through the lore, read the history, a lot of them tend to grasp the feet from a jaws of victory because they become tepid at a certain point in their plans. [SPEAKER_00]: And they just take too long.
[SPEAKER_00]: So the plans take our too long to develop. [SPEAKER_00]: They're understaffed. [SPEAKER_00]: This is what we saw at least talking about. [SPEAKER_00]: They stop getting to court. [SPEAKER_01]: We talked a lot about exactly in the fact that the where the Imperium thinks is important is often real waxing and waning on stuff, especially if you started getting some victories, they'll take away a lot of your forces so that it can be used somewhere else.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's just to pay your good to go exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: Maccharoth what he does is he just goes all in on everything and I use the term all in because he's also a degenerate gambler He's not known for this like a horribly degenerate gambler and it's interesting is that this gambling style actually works for him quite a bit He just gambles that the enemy will just break if he throws all these forces at it and he commits even more forces to the gap [SPEAKER_00]: So the cave and be a counter attack with just too many dudes there, even counter attack can do.
[SPEAKER_01]: It does crack me up that the guy that hasn't looked at his whole card is just all in doubling down on his bat for just getting that inside straight in the river. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: like this will work out and oftentimes his gambles do pay off because he's playing against chaos and chaos will usually fold under overwhelming force because he's chaos they like let lay traps they don't they're not meant to do a big frontal assault.
[SPEAKER_00]: Unfortunately for Mac or off and this will come up later when it doesn't work out it is catastrophic losses. [SPEAKER_00]: Now, the challenges that are about the face of Syback Crusade, though, are actually not chaos-oriented. [SPEAKER_00]: They're more guard oriented. [SPEAKER_00]: And it's the fact that a lot of squabbling from day one, also, by the way, but it's, I mean, forget day one from like, 30 from like, what, when do the emperor go into the throne?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, sure. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's like, it's for, at this point, 30, 10,000 years, this way, this more closer to 12. [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, we have, yeah, so. [SPEAKER_00]: There's some issues here, and so the challenge obviously is the personalities. [SPEAKER_00]: We've got, and we talked about this a little bit last time, but it's going to come up a lot more today.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I want to make sure we strive on this again. [SPEAKER_00]: The guard is made up of an almost infinite number of individuals and residents, and they all come in two forms. [SPEAKER_00]: Those striving for glory, and those trying to hold on to their glory. [SPEAKER_00]: That's it. [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm 100% pointing out the fact that he has to make big things in the notes.
[SPEAKER_01]: We talk about the fact that he's gambling on was the commander that was sent in a genius or did he just get lucky and he's actually a moron. [SPEAKER_01]: The best part about moron is it's misspelled in the notes and there's something about the irony that makes me so happy. [SPEAKER_01]: I read that on that type, but I type fast.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's not what that morning. [SPEAKER_01]: Whatever that type. [SPEAKER_00]: Early the morning. [SPEAKER_00]: You read it at a point when the rest of the world was asleep. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, that's true. [SPEAKER_00]: Brett, well, like you work a graveyard shift, but you also work a day shift because you just are don't sleep.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's healthy. [SPEAKER_01]: That's not what you're talking about. [SPEAKER_01]: Dr. [SPEAKER_01]: Keeps telling me, sleep, last drink, boy. [SPEAKER_00]: It's going great. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so the problem really for Mac or op is that is that somebody's commander's just got lucky and he's gonna put them in charge of something and this guy might just be an idiot And he's gonna get everyone killed or maybe he's a chaos corrupted trader spoiler alert.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's a big foreshadow there I'm trying to do these notes in a way that Those of us who've read the gons ghost books can enjoy them, but those of us who haven't read them can still [SPEAKER_00]: read them later. [SPEAKER_01]: And worry, I've already leaned into the fact that I'm going to spoil the shit out of stuff.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I will super excited about it. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, later in the cast, we are going to spoil one of the episodes pretty badly. [SPEAKER_00]: I will give you guys a big spoiler alert of when that's coming. [SPEAKER_00]: So just heads up on that one. [SPEAKER_01]: And now I know. [SPEAKER_01]: No, it's not bad.
[SPEAKER_01]: This one, so the suit is I start ranting. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to talk about the egg. [SPEAKER_00]: So just in those edit, you out. [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, one of one of us has control. [SPEAKER_00]: So one of the best parts about the Gonskos books and one of the reason I know I love them a lot of people do love them is this next bit?
[SPEAKER_00]: Is the fact that [SPEAKER_00]: they really do cover this infighting kind of the truth of the war and the way the imperial garden iraqs because a lot of other more of though that's the whole point though the life in the war i mean the life of the soldier is what i mean that's the why i am not a big imperial garland but i love these books because oh you love a good bane blade don't shut up yeah [SPEAKER_01]: I love the fact that they get into what's happening in these guys in the lives of everything, what's happening with these guys.
[SPEAKER_01]: They keep making it out of death store. [SPEAKER_01]: They come out, but it's not just about the winds and losses. [SPEAKER_01]: It's how everything's going about it. [SPEAKER_01]: The actual battles are kind of the boring part to be perfectly honest. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, everything else that's going on.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's [SPEAKER_00]: more exactly because a lot of the Black Library books, it's just a novel about a campaign. [SPEAKER_00]: The other protagonist, you have an antagonist, the antagonist, almost wins, been the protagonist, you know, grasp the victory. [SPEAKER_00]: And this happens in Gonskos.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, there are a couple of Gonskos novels where there are some fights. [SPEAKER_00]: that are kind of like, yeah, no, they should have lost a cough, cough, fighting demons, cough, cough. [SPEAKER_00]: But it's the backdrop. [SPEAKER_00]: It is, it's a strong, strong, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: But you've got this, these books are amazing, because you have this massive crusade going on.
[SPEAKER_00]: And within this crusade, there's all these small wars that make up the campaign. [SPEAKER_00]: And the wars are not just for the enemy, but with each other, a wars of honor, wars of pride. [SPEAKER_00]: These make sense. [SPEAKER_00]: You take billions of people, [SPEAKER_00]: shove them into a war where survival is a fraction of a fraction of a percentage.
[SPEAKER_00]: You are not going to survive this. [SPEAKER_00]: They're all just killing machines and they start kind of getting a little bit up at you with each other and you have some vendettas and you have some blood feuds and you get some blood oaths and that's what makes these books so great. [SPEAKER_00]: So if you're going to know why people like these books, who if you haven't read them, this is why because the setting is better than most [SPEAKER_01]: It is funny on this.
[SPEAKER_01]: I like these books quite a lot. [SPEAKER_01]: Did you make a disclaimer of, you know, us grabbing all this information together. [SPEAKER_01]: I will also goof them up because I, as usual, try to go from my really lock, strong memory and rock it out. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So the last little disclaimer before we begin this bit here is.
[SPEAKER_00]: I did what I could to do this in chronological order, so there are a lot of books who make up the Gonsco series, and they are not actually written in a chronological order. [SPEAKER_00]: They jump within the books, so I went to Reddit, I went to Lexica and I went to other websites to try and do this in chronological order, so we're not going to cover them actually in book order, we're going to cover them in actual year by year chronological order.
[SPEAKER_00]: I may get some of it wrong. [SPEAKER_00]: I tried. [SPEAKER_00]: That's all I'm going to say. [SPEAKER_00]: So if I get some of this wrong and people are, hey, you missed this, it, I tried. [SPEAKER_01]: So also with that, why would you do a recommendation on this, though? [SPEAKER_01]: Because I, I love the, the Costco's cook books are very good, but I like it.
[SPEAKER_01]: If you go into some of the anthologies that they wrote around this, I actually, I really, I love anthology pieces. [SPEAKER_01]: They have a [SPEAKER_01]: I would recommend this. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm just given. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I will say the Gonscoz books get a little long in the tooth by the end because there are 15 ends.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's why at a certain point you're like, but the early ones are extremely well related. [SPEAKER_01]: That's right. [SPEAKER_01]: So it also do the early ones and then do the anthology pieces. [SPEAKER_00]: That's I would agree. [SPEAKER_00]: I agree completely. [SPEAKER_00]: So, let's get to it.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, after the events on Blackshard, the 10th percent of the world of Voldemort is a world in chaos or billion. [SPEAKER_00]: Again, cultists, not space marines and demons. [SPEAKER_00]: The 10th are sent there to support a siege that's already underway, and there's a commander there named Stern.
[SPEAKER_00]: and Stern has been trying to breach the capital of Volta City for a while, and he's been repelled. [SPEAKER_00]: And he's now fallen very thousand high schedule. [SPEAKER_01]: The bigger part is he's not on schedule. [SPEAKER_00]: He's very far behind schedule. [SPEAKER_00]: And Macaroth is sending these teneth there, not as a support.
[SPEAKER_00]: And more as a hear hurry up, you need to get going. [SPEAKER_00]: Now, Commander Stearns important because he is in charge of what's called the Royal Volpoyne. [SPEAKER_00]: Volpoyne. [SPEAKER_00]: It's Volpoyne. [SPEAKER_00]: It's impressive. [SPEAKER_00]: Volpoyne is, I haven't read this in a long time.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's Volpoyne regiment. [SPEAKER_00]: The Volpoyne are known as the blue bloods. [SPEAKER_00]: The kind of the cadence. [SPEAKER_00]: This is a plant that's been producing regiments for forever. [SPEAKER_00]: And they're very good. [SPEAKER_00]: They make exceptional soldiers. [SPEAKER_00]: good tacticians, very loyal, all this stuff.
[SPEAKER_00]: So to be a commander of them is important. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, also, one of the biggest things about him not having taken this so far is the initial what he was assigned was considered basically overkill. [SPEAKER_01]: He has the artillery units, he has huge amounts of forces. [SPEAKER_01]: He's supposed to be done done.
[SPEAKER_01]: not because he, they were expecting too much, but they thought they gave him too many forces to do with it. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, yeah, he's, and again, he's the commander of the Volpi, he should be able to figure this out. [SPEAKER_00]: He also had to Brad's point. [SPEAKER_00]: The Ketsock 17, the Ketsock, or a regiment, it's a plant that basically specializes in mobile artillery.
[SPEAKER_00]: So he's got basalisks, he's got other he needs. [SPEAKER_00]: Stern takes look at the tanneth and just saw the word expendable written across there for heads and goes cool. [SPEAKER_00]: I eat a breach, go get me a breach, and because the tanneth for stealth just go do this thing. [SPEAKER_00]: And gone was not oblivious to the fact that Stern was not showing him a ton of respect.
[SPEAKER_00]: but it's commanding officer so deal with it. [SPEAKER_00]: The ghosts go off to do what they do best. [SPEAKER_00]: Today starts scouting and moving ahead, looking for stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: And as they do this, a very important event occurs. [SPEAKER_00]: The Ketsawks 17th, the Mobile Artillery, were moving to reposition.
[SPEAKER_00]: And as they were moving, they moved right into a chaos ambush. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they were standing on the gates. [SPEAKER_01]: There was a piano on a rope right over top of them. [SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't great. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and Basilisks for those of you who haven't seen the Basilisks, they're not great at taking fire because we hold back side of it having no armor on it and being a dude standing on like a platform loading our artillery shells into yes, not ideal, but the problem is the chaos ambush was also inside of a tanneth ambush.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, the X had a bigger X and so, the X actually, I wish there was even one more, I want to do Russian dolls. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So, it happens as a tent, effectively, the Ketsuch is here gunfire and a tent, if I have just killed all the chaos and just pop out and go, hey, you guys should be more careful.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's a bunch of like bad guys up here, watch it, and the Ketsuch commander who's there, [SPEAKER_00]: The members this, as, oh, that was pretty cool of you. [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, the town had off into the city, and they decided to prong attack on the city. [SPEAKER_00]: One of them is the main gate.
[SPEAKER_00]: The idea was, well, hit the main gate, and that'll pull the defenders away from the main gate. [SPEAKER_00]: And then the, sorry, the defenders did not listen to Robert Downey because, [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, well, this, this, this whole story is hilarious because yeah, they go for the main gate.
[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to basically just strap the main gate with an attack on the main gate. [SPEAKER_00]: But then we're going to sneak over this other spot over here. [SPEAKER_00]: That's kind of like almost got cornered. [SPEAKER_00]: And we're going to blow this off. [SPEAKER_00]: And that way, while all of the fans are defending the main gate, we'll make this breach over here.
[SPEAKER_00]: But the problem is the defenders here were like vicinity. [SPEAKER_00]: So as he knows that I know that he knows, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because you would know that I would know that it's like a land war in Asia, okay?
[SPEAKER_00]: So what ends up happening is the ones attacking busy the side, they weren't to incredible defenses, but the main gates basically unprotected. [SPEAKER_00]: They blow them, they just blow them through, blow them and get you and walk through. [SPEAKER_00]: taking the city, and so Stern looks like an idiot because the Tanneth who are a scouting regiment just opened the main gate and are seizing the capital.
[SPEAKER_00]: So Stern immediately orders the Tanneth to pull back so his Vulpin can take the city, which to be fair is the right call. [SPEAKER_00]: The Tanneth are wearing camo cloaks and the Vulpin are fully armored. [SPEAKER_00]: There are still chaos forces in there. [SPEAKER_00]: But as a 10th come back, they start getting artillery fire, and their artillery fire is the most category they take in since the first time they showed up.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they realize it's friendly fire. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Basically, the gun is not super excited about this and it rolls up on the Ketsauk 17th and proceeds to drop an RKO out of nowhere on him and just obliterate this guy. [SPEAKER_00]: Noxley knocks the commander out and then walks away because the commander just fired on his troops.
[SPEAKER_00]: He then arrives back in the command center, tent, it's bigger than a tent less than the fortress. [SPEAKER_00]: And Sturn is there, and as Gaunt gets in there, he realizes that the Ketsak fired on him because Sturn told him to, because Gaunt complains his turn. [SPEAKER_00]: And Sturn says, well, you know, and war, you get confused, the war, who's an enemy, who's not an enemy, so we were just, you know, artillery has to cover a return.
[SPEAKER_00]: But then, God realizes what Stern's real goal was. [SPEAKER_00]: Stern knew that once the reports of all of this had happened, it would show that he was a failure, because the actions of God and the Tanniff broke the siege. [SPEAKER_00]: No matter what, that was going to get reported back.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the glory of the day, even though the Volpeen technically took the city, the glory of the day was going to go to the Tanniff. [SPEAKER_00]: There's he had this. [SPEAKER_00]: He had to get rid of that because he's going to look car tomorrow. [SPEAKER_01]: He said stirred wants to court marginal because he's going he hit another officer that way.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the report's going to have him being dishonored. [SPEAKER_01]: And during this, a basalist crashes through the gates. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: The commander of the old team. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: jumps off and tells in front of everybody, Lloyd Stern, I really don't show you that there's been a miscommunication.
[SPEAKER_01]: I actually tripped and fell off the tank. [SPEAKER_01]: It definitely wasn't gone hitting me. [SPEAKER_01]: There's no, that none of that happened. [SPEAKER_01]: And he tells it to in front of everybody in the main command. [SPEAKER_00]: Also, while the barrel of his Basilisk is pointing at the name command center, there's two pieces to this story.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so, God, this, look, Sturnless, look at God and goes, guess I didn't do it. [SPEAKER_00]: And God is relieved, and the tan is getting massive glow up out of this. [SPEAKER_00]: Sturnless, obviously, furious. [SPEAKER_00]: He does not look good. [SPEAKER_00]: This is a massive embarrassment for him.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is one of many enemies that gaunt his start kind of racking up quickly so after this they move to a world called colligula because apparently they would name a world colligula. [SPEAKER_00]: Why? [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, yeah, they don't even try. [SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes the naming mechanics are just complete phone it in.
[SPEAKER_00]: All right, it's a high world, because of course, colligula's a high world and has gone to chaos. [SPEAKER_00]: Cause of course, there's a colligula high world has gone to chaos. [SPEAKER_00]: But it's like, thanks guys, that was all implied in the name. [SPEAKER_00]: Move on what you're day.
[SPEAKER_00]: Macaroth went hard on this world and he went hard on it because he had to bring it back in line for his campaign. [SPEAKER_00]: Remember we've covered this before. [SPEAKER_00]: Warp travel is faster than light travel but it's not instant or even really that fast. [SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes it is.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, true. [SPEAKER_00]: The issue is that the way I let those describe it, when people, I talk people about Warhammer universe, it's kind of like moving in the galaxies like the 16th century in the globe. [SPEAKER_00]: You can move goods around, but it does take a while. [SPEAKER_00]: So what you want to have, if you're a war master, you want to establish supplies and manufacturing within your war zone.
[SPEAKER_00]: That way, you can actually resupply and rearm. [SPEAKER_00]: It's why the 10th regiment was raised from a world that was in [SPEAKER_00]: Just makes more sense, right? [SPEAKER_00]: Collegula is one such role. [SPEAKER_00]: Massive, high-world, great for manufacturing. [SPEAKER_00]: In the 10th or one of the ones who were chosen for the assault on Collegula.
[SPEAKER_00]: which doesn't go great, because again, color killer actually was catastrophically bad. [SPEAKER_00]: So the initial landing is made, and that one's kind of okay, they get scattered because part way through a sucking store and say erupts. [SPEAKER_01]: You made it sound like it was catastrophic bad, but it wasn't that bad, but yes, it was, because [SPEAKER_00]: Well, the second landing was worse for the thing.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's, I think, let's compare them. [SPEAKER_00]: The first one, as they're landing, the second storm starts. [SPEAKER_00]: So all the ships get scattered. [SPEAKER_00]: The second part of the landing hits the second storm. [SPEAKER_00]: So they're all just gone. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, that's also the third landing.
[SPEAKER_00]: We've talked about the start. [SPEAKER_01]: I was saying, I talked about it like nothing. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, psychic storms and things in the war. [SPEAKER_01]: This is more like uncontrollable force landing everywhere. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we say a psychic storm. [SPEAKER_00]: It's not a, like, hey, it's a turbulent landing.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's a force field. [SPEAKER_00]: It's basically a force when you try to go through you die. [SPEAKER_00]: That's the better way of thinking about it. [SPEAKER_00]: So the 10th are on the surface and immediately come under attack by chaos forces. [SPEAKER_00]: So they, pretty quickly, have a realization that they can't hold out here.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is a high world. [SPEAKER_00]: They, there are billions of enemies here. [SPEAKER_00]: So they need to go find the source of the psychic storm and stop that. [SPEAKER_00]: Which, good news, they do. [SPEAKER_00]: bad news, it's a demon, which is pretty hardcore punching up for the task.
[SPEAKER_00]: My cultists find. [SPEAKER_00]: We did actually have one of them did kill a dreadnought, it was a very injured dreadnought and he kind of used the planet itself to kill the dreadnought. [SPEAKER_00]: So, remember, remember, remember. [SPEAKER_00]: Demon, no, despite what we can do with the tabletop, we're doing more than 7th edition.
[SPEAKER_00]: There is no, sixes don't always hit a rub. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so Demon's argument is, yeah, no. [SPEAKER_00]: And the ghost or pretty separate, so Gaunt is doesn't even part of this process. [SPEAKER_00]: So it's actually the second in command, coreback is the one who finds it even with a small collection of Gaunt's.
[SPEAKER_00]: Coreback does some pretty quick math in his head. [SPEAKER_00]: He looks at his guns, he looks at the demon. [SPEAKER_00]: And he goes, that's not gonna work. [SPEAKER_00]: But you remember something. [SPEAKER_00]: There are ships that are up above. [SPEAKER_00]: and a second storm could stop a landing craft.
[SPEAKER_00]: But how about a macro cannon shell? [SPEAKER_00]: Let's find out. [SPEAKER_00]: So he uses a calm tower and radios the coordinates of the demon to a ship in orbit. [SPEAKER_00]: And the hive city loses a few city blocks, but also a demon. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it also lost a lot of thieves.
[SPEAKER_01]: They were super okay with some collateral damage that day. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, a section of the hive disappeared, but so to the demon [SPEAKER_00]: allowing the forces to actually land, and colligulate is conquered air quotes here. [SPEAKER_00]: You can see Imperial forces while they were secure the planet do you run to a problem?
[SPEAKER_00]: Demons gone, so force of chaos are there, but the thing about chaos forces is, they're not really going to surrender. [SPEAKER_00]: right you're not going to say oh hello mister inquisitor my name is Gerald and I was a chaos cultists sorry about that you know it's not really I'm ready to convert back you're like yeah you know I've seen the pendant engines I know what happens so the issue is that you have to go find every cultist and kill all of them and they know that too [SPEAKER_00]: So it's not very long before you start having terrorism, and the main spot of terrorism that starts happening is they have to live in convoys all around the hives to move food, move people, move this stuff.
[SPEAKER_00]: And they start, when I say getting blown up, it's like one or two convoys. [SPEAKER_00]: Entire convoys are getting wiped out. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they're also driving bad bad bad bad shit. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad. [SPEAKER_00]: So super jacked up.
[SPEAKER_00]: Now, [SPEAKER_00]: What do they do about it? [SPEAKER_00]: God is told, hey, solve this. [SPEAKER_00]: You guys are sneaky. [SPEAKER_00]: Go do this. [SPEAKER_00]: And they probably realize this is an inside job. [SPEAKER_00]: They use brag because everyone thinks brag stupid. [SPEAKER_00]: So that's why they use brag.
[SPEAKER_00]: So they use brag to go in there. [SPEAKER_00]: We'll talk about these guys in a second. [SPEAKER_00]: Everybody, they use brag. [SPEAKER_00]: to go in there. [SPEAKER_00]: And one of the pilots, just assumes Braggs and idiot, it's sort of radioing the chaos guys. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh hey, here we come in, Bragg beats the crap out of that guy.
[SPEAKER_00]: And they checked on the cultists and bring it. [SPEAKER_00]: I think it's more broader bombers to just wipe out the chaos forces. [SPEAKER_00]: So once again saves the day. [SPEAKER_00]: Actually, you know what, we should take a moment here. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's take a quick aside and talk about the TANF and Gaunt, because I do want to mention some of the main characters that make up Gaunt's Ghosts, mostly because y'all are going to paint the models, and so I'll tell you who they all are real quick, because they're going to come up more through the stories.
[SPEAKER_00]: will be right back after a quick break. [SPEAKER_00]: So as we said before, Gaunt is not from the planet, so that the 10th, but all the rest of them are from 10th. [SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, freshers only? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the first one. [SPEAKER_00]: So the first thing Gaunt does once he gets control is he promotes two of the 10th to commanders and it's core back and brawn.
[SPEAKER_00]: And he does this actually interestingly because they're the first two who confront him. [SPEAKER_01]: about abandoning Tana. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and so he actually he respects them quite a bit for being it realizes, okay, the rest of this regiment seems to look to the two of you. [SPEAKER_00]: So you're also in charge now, congratulations.
[SPEAKER_00]: So it's not my corebic first. [SPEAKER_00]: Corbick was a member of the 10th militia. [SPEAKER_00]: He was very charismatic and his narrative role is bastard son coming into his own. [SPEAKER_00]: He was born out of wedlock, to a simple laborer. [SPEAKER_00]: He's kind of got meant that get it.
[SPEAKER_00]: If you guys game of thrones, he's John Snow. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know which book came first, so I don't know where the IP violation here is. [SPEAKER_00]: he's brave without bravado, he does things and we does, and we does, he's really brave things, he thinks nothing of them because he's always trying to do the right thing.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but and but when he does it, he doesn't think of it as I'm an example, said her, he just goes, yeah, of course I did that, that's what needed to get done. [SPEAKER_00]: Now, from the onset, quarterback and gaunt get along pretty well. [SPEAKER_00]: Corbex sees and gaunt a leader who also just wants to do the right thing in a galaxy of wrong.
[SPEAKER_00]: And they actually bought. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I was just saying, not the same thing happened with Ron. [SPEAKER_00]: Ron's the inverse. [SPEAKER_00]: So Ron, who also gets promoted by God, hates God. [SPEAKER_00]: He eats and hates him. [SPEAKER_01]: He also told me he hated him. [SPEAKER_01]: We didn't promote him.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: That was pretty fun. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he does kind of the life of Brian or how much do you hate the Romans. [SPEAKER_00]: a lot if we look at that's his viewpoint of God and in fact the first mission they were ever on together we talked about last ask he tried to kill God because when he set all the explosives he punched God and tried to knock him unconscious but grossly underestimated how well God could take a punch.
[SPEAKER_00]: and gaunt did not underestimate how well Ron could take a punch. [SPEAKER_00]: And gaunt actually knocked him then unconscious and carried him out. [SPEAKER_00]: And then him carried him out, yes. [SPEAKER_00]: Which come by the way, neither told anybody about nor punished Ron for. [SPEAKER_00]: He let him keep his rank and everything.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, interesting little fact about God. [SPEAKER_00]: He seems to respect Ron's attempt at murder. [SPEAKER_00]: So, whatever. [SPEAKER_00]: It was a bunch of stuff with Ron that they kind of, and Ron is very, very useful. [SPEAKER_00]: Ron has, he's also sketchy as shit. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so the rumors around Ron are that he so he comes from a wealthy family, but he's like third to the third son.
[SPEAKER_00]: So he has no chance within the family. [SPEAKER_00]: And he may or may not have killed somebody, the RBDs, the RBDs are definitely a work. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's say work, because all the RPGs on 10th are also dead. [SPEAKER_00]: We're aware of Ron, whether it was their hunting him down for a murder or just criminal.
[SPEAKER_00]: We don't know the King Ron throughout the books. [SPEAKER_01]: Ron continually is the guy that can get them stuff. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it doesn't matter what the stuff is. [SPEAKER_01]: He kind of always has, I know a guy that can know the guy that can get some things. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's outside of 10th.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he's on in the novels. [SPEAKER_00]: He just wrong is he has he thinks master of working with the underground. [SPEAKER_00]: They're quotes there. [SPEAKER_00]: And what happens is it's and Ron has always meant to be this mix of benefit and challenges. [SPEAKER_00]: So this work with the underground will sometimes be a good thing.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's actually always a good thing because it times out really well. [SPEAKER_00]: It'll sometimes cause a mild, [SPEAKER_00]: irritant for them, but for the most part, but then when he really needs something, he'll come through. [SPEAKER_00]: That's kind of wrong. [SPEAKER_00]: Then you have the m call.
[SPEAKER_00]: Call m call. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's the probably you put the letter m in the letter k with no vowel in between. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going m call. [SPEAKER_00]: M. Cole is just, he's the stealthy guy. [SPEAKER_00]: He's the stealthiest of the stealthiest. [SPEAKER_00]: That's what he is.
[SPEAKER_01]: You say he's the stealthy guy is like, he's the core acts of, yeah, I mean, that's a thing. [SPEAKER_00]: M. Cole disappears. [SPEAKER_00]: That's what he can do. [SPEAKER_00]: So of anybody sneaks up on other [SPEAKER_00]: I might as I mentioned here, the 10th do seem to have some supernatural levels of powers.
[SPEAKER_00]: M call is one of the ones where it's like, it's pushing it to the point where I will use the work to turn co-rex. [SPEAKER_00]: He does seem to be able to disappear from sight and stayed, uh, obscured at a level that's too far. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Gone's a big fan that I'm called by the way.
[SPEAKER_00]: He is. [SPEAKER_01]: He also shows up a lot of times they just yell his name out and he's like, yeah, what's going on? [SPEAKER_00]: He's very enjoyable. [SPEAKER_00]: Then we have Bragg. [SPEAKER_00]: Bragg is a catacent. [SPEAKER_00]: He's a giant guy. [SPEAKER_00]: He's kind of fun because he's the only one who can actually hold and fire a heavy boulder.
[SPEAKER_00]: But they do that now because it's just about to say he also never hits anything. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, they're given the heavy bolter because he has no aim and the idea is just here's the spray and spray weapon because if we give you the last going to hit anything we give you this thing, you might hit something.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's what he's nice big as under the jack, but he is physical. [SPEAKER_00]: He's not dumb. [SPEAKER_00]: He's just simple. [SPEAKER_00]: And he's really happy with just he wants to be around his friends. [SPEAKER_00]: That's all he wants. [SPEAKER_00]: But he has physical power. [SPEAKER_00]: Bragg is there's in a lot of stories.
[SPEAKER_00]: Bragg will show up when there's a fight. [SPEAKER_00]: And whoever they're fighting, if it's a hand-to-hand goes at, I'm done now. [SPEAKER_00]: This is about to hurt really bad. [SPEAKER_00]: So I'm going to go ahead and... Because if it's bragg, it's half long. [SPEAKER_00]: All during basically.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: He is a monster of a man, but he is he's not stupid. [SPEAKER_00]: He's just More calm, but my favorite of them all is larkin and that's because I think psycho Well, it's cuz I think larkin actually is the one who's most Effected by whatever warp powers are affecting the ghosts.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's larkin [SPEAKER_00]: Because he goes... Markin is... he's the the crazy Irish guy from Braveheart. [SPEAKER_00]: He's... [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: He's... he's out of his mind. [SPEAKER_00]: So he's the sniper. [SPEAKER_00]: He's the oldest member of all them. [SPEAKER_00]: He was just a hunter on 10th and then he enlisted.
[SPEAKER_00]: because he suffers from delusions, migraines, fits of rage, he's basically possessed by the good spirits of Tanneth, and he can barely hold on to his own mental faculties half the time, but he's almost always a benefit to the ghosts. [SPEAKER_00]: He can [SPEAKER_00]: Well, it's basically performed miracles, black and better phrase, all the time with his rifle, able to see he sees through illusions, and we're going to talk about him quite a bit.
[SPEAKER_00]: There are others, but those are the guys you paint, so they are covered, and they're going to come up a little bit. [SPEAKER_00]: And I talked about Larkin, so let's talk about Buosephalon. [SPEAKER_00]: Buosephalons annoying because it was listed as the most honorable of the subat worlds and I don't look she'd up here right sometimes Buosephalon was ruled by 32 merchant families all of which were supposedly supremely loyal to the Imperium and they had a strict code of conduct and civic pride and so Buosephalon was heralded as an example of what a planet should be [SPEAKER_00]: as opposed to, you know, high worlds in the sub-at region, which basically were like, look, this pre-imposed chaos corruption were kind of the same, you know, it's, you know,
[SPEAKER_00]: So at the onset of the crusades, Slado had marked Busephalon as a key world for liberation. [SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, so also, Maco, it's very, it's going to need beneficial for us to get it. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's really critical. [SPEAKER_00]: The problem that Busephalon had been conquered by a chaos demagogue named no CAD, the blighted, all the way to say, yeah, my mind.
[SPEAKER_01]: He was known as no care the blighted and he was trying to one of the guys that tries to make their own nickname I feel like that's him [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, well, it's not like there's no cat that's smiling. [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm always smiling. [SPEAKER_00]: He is always grinning because he's this giant man.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's two meters tall. [SPEAKER_00]: And he had conqueror Buosephalon slaughtered all the noble families. [SPEAKER_00]: Like she had crucified them on their own banners outside of the city walls and built this massive chaos fortress. [SPEAKER_00]: So Macaroth gets there and is this incredibly fortified planet.
[SPEAKER_00]: but he has to take it because like his predecessor, he also recognized the significance of the planet, the morale that would happen if he destroyed it to both his army, but also to the region, he just couldn't afford it. [SPEAKER_00]: So he didn't do something, but he also didn't really want to get bogged down.
[SPEAKER_00]: So he does an invasion and it goes kind of the plan. [SPEAKER_00]: It's just a stalemates. [SPEAKER_00]: There's just, it's way too, to me forces there. [SPEAKER_00]: So he goes the taneth and he orders the taneth on what you did to deploy down duty, behind enemy line, new taneth stuff, yeah, go find no, no cat and kill him.
[SPEAKER_00]: So the 10th do this, they deploy down, and as soon as they get down there, Larkin starts having it. [SPEAKER_01]: He loses his mind. [SPEAKER_01]: He's freaking out. [SPEAKER_01]: He's hallucinating shit. [SPEAKER_01]: He's having a bunch of visions over and over and over again on it. [SPEAKER_00]: And they're just dragging him along.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And the thing is, is that no kid basically just governs the 10th and starts to attack and Larkin, just [SPEAKER_01]: freaks out, but he freaks out no weird way, which is why I think that Don't just didn't just shoot him. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, because the 10 if do successfully get inside the city But then no kid finds them and they be in attacking and they are over there.
[SPEAKER_00]: They're on the wrong side of the wall All of the rest of the forces are on the other side of the wall and then they're just surrounded by QS forces and yeah, and Larkin just runs away and God sees him my way but doesn't shoot him which [SPEAKER_00]: probably, you know, which ends up being good call.
[SPEAKER_00]: But Larkin runs into a cathedral for, so that's what. [SPEAKER_01]: And then I love that this statue comes alive and tells Larkin that there's a perfect perch on the top of the chapel that he could see and take care of no kind of from that perch. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, climbs the top of the cathedral looks out and there's no cad preaching because remember he's a kid.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's his chaos. [SPEAKER_00]: So he's empowering everybody through him. [SPEAKER_00]: No cad is obviously his corn. [SPEAKER_00]: He is a corn demagogue and he is empowering his forces through these just, you know, speaking the word of corn. [SPEAKER_01]: And he takes a lasso rifle right through the head after he had no head.
[SPEAKER_01]: He did less preaching. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, and immediately all the chaos, all the forces and power of corn flowing stopped. [SPEAKER_00]: And the entirety of the battle turns. [SPEAKER_00]: The 10th first and only have turned the battle. [SPEAKER_00]: Bucephalon falls for the Imperium, and this is basically a little moment of divine intervention.
[SPEAKER_00]: Once again, the renowned of Kenneth is growing. [SPEAKER_00]: All right, Fortis binary is a high world in the subat worlds, and it was marked for conquest as its resources were, air quotes, necessary for the continuation of the campaign. [SPEAKER_00]: And for this, Warmaster Macaroth placed Lord General militant Hector Dravere.
[SPEAKER_00]: Dravier is a very important character because he's this highly ambitious man. [SPEAKER_00]: He, in fact, he wanted to be the Warmaster before Slato being the Warmaster, and then when Slato died, he wanted to be the Warmaster before the Warmaster. [SPEAKER_01]: Actually, it's not one. [SPEAKER_01]: He felt he deserved both of them.
[SPEAKER_01]: And when Slato was killed, he felt that obviously, there's no change. [SPEAKER_01]: It's coming [SPEAKER_00]: and it went to Macaroth. [SPEAKER_00]: And so, Draver becomes obsessed with getting this next appointment. [SPEAKER_00]: And so he tries to achieve this kind of weirdly mutually exclusive goal.
[SPEAKER_00]: He wants to have for himself great military success, while having Macaroth have great military failure, his boss. [SPEAKER_00]: Not really ideal. [SPEAKER_00]: Now, he also has in his inner circle, or he's in the inner circle of an inquisitor by the name of Hellday. [SPEAKER_00]: So at this moment, I feel a break.
[SPEAKER_00]: If you haven't read Kenneth first and only, and you want to read Kenneth first and only. [SPEAKER_00]: stop listening to us now because we are going to ruin the end of tanneth first and only full stop because this is the entirety of the biggest part of this is the most exciting part of that entire book we're not going to cover everybody you can still read it but i'm just like you know we're going to cover the big reveal there it is all you've been warned [SPEAKER_00]: How the hell day, by the way?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, hell day in the inquisitor had done more a lot of inquisitors done. [SPEAKER_00]: He had fallen to chaos without realizing he'd fallen to chaos. [SPEAKER_00]: This thirst for pursuit of knowledge is all encompassing for an inquisitor, and there is only one force in the galaxy that can grant this level of knowledge, and it does it at a price.
[SPEAKER_00]: On the world of fortest binary, the ghosts are deployed under the command of Javier. [SPEAKER_00]: but they weren't alone in the planet. [SPEAKER_00]: They were also the gentined petritions in the world who were led by a man named Colonel Drakar Flenz, who is the son of Aldo Dresius. [SPEAKER_00]: The guy gaunt head killed for leaving his followed a die.
[SPEAKER_00]: And doing so head ruin, not like this guy, yeah, yeah, yeah, ruined Flynn's life. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, because he stripped the flens of all of his noble titles, of no, God doesn't know this because Flynn's head changes identity, because Flynn's father's real name was Aldo Dersius. [SPEAKER_00]: But Flynn's took on a new name and had elevated himself.
[SPEAKER_00]: So God has no idea who this guy is. [SPEAKER_00]: The problem, though, is that the Jantine Patricians are a very famous regiment, and Flem's had been a very successful leader. [SPEAKER_00]: He got in very close to Hector Javier, so now these two are pretty close. [SPEAKER_00]: There is a massive chaos force on the planet of Fortus binary, and Flens had this great idea about what do about this force, send the task first, knowing the charge their lines, and that'll get the chaos force to come out, and then me, and I, very well, win the day, exactly.
[SPEAKER_00]: And Javier says, that's a great idea. [SPEAKER_00]: But, Drivier knows you can't just send one regiment into the lines alone because it's too obvious that's just a suicide attack. [SPEAKER_00]: The 10th would know the suicide attack, but more importantly, the enemy would know it's a suicide attack.
[SPEAKER_00]: And they wouldn't counter attack, because they'd be like, yeah, when I can draw into this dumbass. [SPEAKER_00]: So, they're joined by the victory in Dragoons. [SPEAKER_00]: Who, side note, why can't we have these models? [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, they look so cool. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's like, so the victory in your goons, like they, it would be a nightmare to paint.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, maybe contrast when, make it easier. [SPEAKER_00]: But they were, yeah, they were dragon scale armor. [SPEAKER_00]: They look awesome. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I think actually with the contrast, these could look, it could be an easy paint. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, they look way better.
[SPEAKER_00]: All right. [SPEAKER_00]: But the victory ends are this highly honor bound society. [SPEAKER_00]: Deeply lower the imperium, very strong soldiers. [SPEAKER_00]: The initial assault in the KS lines goes, I didn't expect it. [SPEAKER_00]: Carefully, the KS artillery to shoot out of them. [SPEAKER_01]: And they go, and they scatter, they disperse them, but gone basically gets, grabs all of his guys and starts saving the dragons.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, super excited about that. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because the 10th are able to use the camera cloaks to move around and they're able to find the victory and then save them to hate come with us. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, the another thing, the biggest thing, they found this underground train line.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they're like, yeah, no, really can nobody knows. [SPEAKER_01]: Also, nobody knows about it. [SPEAKER_01]: So it's basically wildly unguarded. [SPEAKER_01]: For the beginning, it's very, and for them, I'm saying. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I just want to talk about it when we talk about, you know, poor plot devices, they're, it's a trench work campaign.
[SPEAKER_00]: And they find just like a random hatch that they open up and go, oh, look, if we go down this hatch, there is an old abandoned train line here that no one seems to know about. [SPEAKER_00]: And we can just wander through it. [SPEAKER_00]: And eventually they do come upon about 200 of the enemy cultists and a pair of iron warriors.
[SPEAKER_00]: So does there's a fight at the end? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, hold on. [SPEAKER_00]: Also a massive model. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and then they get there. [SPEAKER_00]: The big piece of this is there's a giant monolith at the end of it. [SPEAKER_00]: And the monolith is there's a chaos, like kind of a ritual being done around this monolith.
[SPEAKER_00]: And it's one of seven. [SPEAKER_00]: Get it seven. [SPEAKER_00]: All right. [SPEAKER_00]: Now, the key thing about this is the 10th always have this little bits of divine invention. [SPEAKER_00]: 20 years prior to this on the world of Daryndara, there's a rogue siker. [SPEAKER_00]: And this is a rogue siker that tells Gond about his father's betrayal.
[SPEAKER_00]: But also says the following to him says there will be seven stones of power. [SPEAKER_00]: cut them and you will be free, do not kill them. [SPEAKER_00]: But first you must find your ghosts and then finally the warp knows you, Ibrahim. [SPEAKER_00]: So here remembers this and realizes that blowing up the monolith bad, I have to interrupt the ritual.
[SPEAKER_00]: So instead he just turns the monolith. [SPEAKER_00]: They grab it and they rotate it, which severes the ritual. [SPEAKER_00]: It affects all of the other monoliths, which then [SPEAKER_01]: It's weird though, because they go from this superjuice stop. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, it's like if you hit a adrenaline that had the after a adrenaline dump, because it becomes lethargic.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's haste, it's after haste, it cast haste, and you didn't erupt it. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, everybody else, aren't you? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's so they'll just come straight down. [SPEAKER_00]: So the enemy just is kind of useless at this point. [SPEAKER_00]: Then, God does find something he can blow up.
[SPEAKER_00]: They find the giant ammo dump in the dead center of the complex, which is where the ammo dump should be for the record. [SPEAKER_00]: And they go, well, we're blowing this thing up, so they do. [SPEAKER_00]: And they effectively blow the center out of the entire complex. [SPEAKER_00]: So, God, [SPEAKER_00]: and the dragons on their suicide charge effectively conquer this entire facility.
[SPEAKER_01]: This annoys me so much as a flood gets Superman all of the patricians become super angry. [SPEAKER_00]: You're really good at that. [SPEAKER_01]: They still hear glory. [SPEAKER_01]: You're like, [SPEAKER_01]: Screw you dude. [SPEAKER_01]: You just sent us to die your man that we succeed.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's not our name of them. [SPEAKER_00]: It's not made better by the fact that, you know, Jovier, it also does kind of talk a little bit. [SPEAKER_00]: That's why I'm also shit about this about like I thought you got you said these guys were idiots. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, these are backward farmers just did what you couldn't do.
[SPEAKER_00]: And they took almost no casualties. [SPEAKER_00]: What's going on? [SPEAKER_00]: So, after the events of Fort Espionary, the 10th, the Gentine Patricians, the Vitreans, and some other are sent to men's annoyed epsilon, which is interesting. [SPEAKER_00]: Men's annoyed epsilon is a converted chaos shrine world.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, goodbye, that has to go full destroy. [SPEAKER_00]: The weird thing is that, Dervir, who's the one who sends them there, doesn't wanna blow it up from orbit, which is what you should do to a chaos shrine world. [SPEAKER_00]: Instead, we're going down for a little bit. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, like, yeah, this has no strategic value.
[SPEAKER_01]: We can legitimately just make it so no one can leave from orbit. [SPEAKER_01]: And we're just blowing up. [SPEAKER_00]: It's not even on a warp route. [SPEAKER_00]: It's not a high world. [SPEAKER_00]: It's just like we'll get to it later. [SPEAKER_00]: You can send the Imperial Navy on their way somewhere else.
[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, just blow that up when you get a free minute. [SPEAKER_00]: Javier is insistent that we're going to this world, and this is because thanks to inquisitor Helldane, he knows there's an artifact there that will allow him to use Serb Macaroth. [SPEAKER_00]: The problem with a rogue inquisitor, like Helldane, is that he's not technically rogue yet.
[SPEAKER_00]: You hasn't committed the crime yet until you rob the bank. [SPEAKER_00]: Helldains got the gun. [SPEAKER_00]: He's in the bank, but he's still in line weighing to talk to the teller. [SPEAKER_01]: That's no kind of where it's at. [SPEAKER_01]: You know who wouldn't let this shit go down, some dark angels and interrogator chaplains.
[SPEAKER_01]: Wouldn't it have had a wait for any of this? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: But that's the issue. [SPEAKER_00]: So the military intelligence is aware that Helldains up to something and helldains a problem, but they can't initiate anything because he actually hasn't done anything yet.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's just acting in a way that's bad. [SPEAKER_00]: So they needed someone to do something because it still is the inquisition. [SPEAKER_00]: So they go to God and they reach out to God and they say, hey, basically whatever is on men's annoyed, he's to make sure it gets destroyed, not it doesn't lead men's like it gets destroyed and tells that they were correct.
[SPEAKER_00]: I want to point out this book, by the way, was written in 1999, so stuff we're going to reveal here, 1999, that predates. [SPEAKER_00]: So this were in second edition 40K when they wrote this. [SPEAKER_00]: So the fun side story read the book if you want more about this, but the trip to men's annoyed prime is a delight because basically the chanting petritions and the tanneth are on the same ship and they're trying to kill each other and ends up with actually, and the ship Catherine 1 point goes out and just lock the door and beat the crap out of each other.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't care. [SPEAKER_00]: Just leave my ship alone. [SPEAKER_01]: We're still home. [SPEAKER_01]: Where we need to do. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, although there is one bit I do need to talk about because this does actually this did drive me nuts when I read it So at some point this is 1999 a rate There's an assassin the center after gone, and it's a psi assassin because it's a regular person who someone then used the second influence to take over Because that way they don't know that they're on a set.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they made sure they can't name it in [SPEAKER_00]: No, sometimes you're in candy. [SPEAKER_00]: It's the naked gun, Brad. [SPEAKER_00]: This is, this is literally the naked gun, all right? [SPEAKER_00]: This is how they tried to kill the queen in the naked gun, but luckily in Ricky Palazzo was there and was able to save the queen from, is it Richard Jackson?
[SPEAKER_00]: Is that who was trying to kill the queen? [SPEAKER_00]: Richard Jackson. [SPEAKER_00]: It was actually Jackson because when you're Jackson was totally on a killing queen with a pistol that I think of a third base. [SPEAKER_00]: I've seen this movie a lot of times by the way. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, this was the plot to the naked gun.
[SPEAKER_00]: There we go. [SPEAKER_00]: I had had to get that off my chest real quick. [SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, again, and we could pull out so. [SPEAKER_00]: God realizes that whatever is going on in men'soid prime is pretty significant and it's very complicated. [SPEAKER_00]: So he needs to go and make some allies and get prepared.
[SPEAKER_00]: So he does. [SPEAKER_00]: He brings all the kind of together and effectively says, [SPEAKER_00]: when we get down there, the shit's going to get real, arrive on the planet, and effectively, it is the most, hey, don't go here, that of all, hey, don't go here. [SPEAKER_00]: There is one giant chaos structure that is, let's see the power, and surrounded by tall, they can't tell if they're stone or metal pillars all over the place.
[SPEAKER_00]: And Javier looks at this and goes, cool, deploy forces go forward and I am actually going to even lead it with my super Leviathan battle tank thing. [SPEAKER_00]: And they do that. [SPEAKER_00]: And as soon as they start going forward, all of the towers activate and form a super force field disintegrating anything that's [SPEAKER_00]: including Javier who dies.
[SPEAKER_01]: We didn't really pull the fact out before this happens they had Janet gone had found out about his plot. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so yeah gone knew all about what was really going on. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, they gone had deployed. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because going in the in the guys find out that Jerville is full on and give the try to supplement McCarrot, you know what I mean?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he's trying to kill McCarrot and he's gonna do it with whatever is on this planet So don't knows he has to find it first [SPEAKER_00]: What's fun is gone also when they got down there, the first the 10th looked up at these pillars and went, these are just, these are a no and put like, let's just not have these around and put explosives on them.
[SPEAKER_00]: So when their towers went to activate, they blew them up. [SPEAKER_00]: So, the taneth were actually safe when they activated, because the other problem is once the towers activated, all the chaos forces that were hiding there stop hiding, because everyone was basically trapped inside these little pens of force field, and couldn't go anywhere.
[SPEAKER_00]: We're getting just mordered to the end of the earth and shot it. [SPEAKER_00]: So, the taneth start moving forward, because they go, we have to go find what's at the core of this thing and see what we can do. [SPEAKER_01]: The other problem, though, is that while Javier was planning on using men's annoyed to you serve Macaroth, also the Patricians were planning on attacking the TANF from the back using all of this to kill.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're going to blame it on the KS forces, but [SPEAKER_01]: The Jurgoons, the between Jurgoons, had been super tight because of the whole, hey, thanks for saving our life thing. [SPEAKER_01]: We're pretty pumped, and they had been watching these guys and radioed in a message to God in this voice.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, the story really fountains what happens is this whole thing goes to Hell in a Handbasket. [SPEAKER_00]: Drivers killed. [SPEAKER_00]: He's dead. [SPEAKER_00]: There are KS forces attacking [SPEAKER_00]: gaunt and the tanneth are trying to fight their way to whatever this thing is that's at the core of it.
[SPEAKER_00]: While they're going they get a radio message. [SPEAKER_00]: It was a code where it was I'm forgetting right now and the code word basically warned them. [SPEAKER_01]: They're kind of. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the patricians are coming for you. [SPEAKER_00]: It was definitely not to say for it from uh you're a trip.
[SPEAKER_00]: the protrusions are coming for you. [SPEAKER_00]: What this does is this way gaunt nose, they're coming, and gaunt then sends a second signal out, which lets the, uh, the, uh, the venturing triggers, no, the triggers, no, oh, this is what's happening. [SPEAKER_00]: So as the petr- the petritions, basically, assume that they're going to catch the tanneth from behind and just slaughter them.
[SPEAKER_00]: Instead, they catch a tanneth who are actually fortified and are ready for it and begin murdering them and shooting back at them. [SPEAKER_00]: So the petritions get upset and they end up doing a bayonet charge into the taff lines up a hill, losing a ton of soldiers in this process. [SPEAKER_01]: It goes again.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah, I was like, well, well, chaos is fighting at us. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah, let's do a point out. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think like it, it's just like, yeah, but this is fine with us. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, it's just, it just wrecked face, the position, because, yeah, it's holocaust. [SPEAKER_00]: The patricians, yeah, the patricians basically reach the 10th line, because the patricians are wearing armor.
[SPEAKER_00]: They are wearing, it's not spacering armor, but they are much more armored. [SPEAKER_00]: And just in time, as they reach the 10th line, the Djurgune's basically pop out behind them going, so what's you guys up to and kill every single patricians, to [SPEAKER_00]: Now, this frees up God to keep moving forward in the men's annoyed, epsilon prime.
[SPEAKER_00]: And he discovers what it is, and what it is is an STC. [SPEAKER_00]: And STC, by the way, are not doing STC, by the way. [SPEAKER_00]: But we also need to set the table, because STC are not a USB drive. [SPEAKER_00]: SCCs are full manufacturers and this is a giant one. [SPEAKER_00]: It's an ancient one.
[SPEAKER_00]: It is a 20,000 year old one because it makes men of iron. [SPEAKER_00]: That's what this is. [SPEAKER_00]: This is why helldane and drivier wanted it. [SPEAKER_00]: This is the ultimate weapon in the galaxy. [SPEAKER_00]: with this, this is a weapon that did wipe out humanity or almost without humanity, but the idea they had was if we can turn this thing around, it could wipe out all the enemies of humanity.
[SPEAKER_01]: They could make that it's wildly corrupted by chaos right now. [SPEAKER_00]: It has been sitting yet, it has basically been sitting inside of a chaos shrine for 1,000 years and it's also been [SPEAKER_00]: untouched. [SPEAKER_00]: And I don't like doing all the end night Shyamalan plot twist that occur here, but if you want to, if you've read the book, you know, I'm talking about because we don't actually know who the secret agent is, but there's a secret agent blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's also, let's also throw on Ron becomes a lot more cool with gone because before this, he gets [SPEAKER_01]: basically abducted, I guess, by your helldane. [SPEAKER_01]: And wildly tortured and gotten his boys broke him out from that before this happened. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, but what ends him happening is helldane is still alive because he actually did get shot in the face by lurking earlier.
[SPEAKER_00]: And Helldane tries to kill Gant via a puppet that he'd planted next to Gant, but that puppet gets shot in the face and then that feedback gets into Helldane which actually kills Helldane. [SPEAKER_00]: But more importantly, is the STC. [SPEAKER_00]: Gant looks at this thing and just goes.
[SPEAKER_00]: Nope, but this this is this is a giant pile of no all of this is nope. [SPEAKER_00]: It is heavily corrupted. [SPEAKER_00]: I can see it from here. [SPEAKER_00]: See, blows up and when he blows it up because truth is, look, best case scenario, the admit get a hold of this thing, and they destroy the galaxy with it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Worst case, you know, chaos gets a hold of it and actually just conquer the galaxy with it. [SPEAKER_00]: So he blows it. [SPEAKER_01]: I love both. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to skip the one. [SPEAKER_01]: It's a little bit of again a book spoiler on it, [SPEAKER_01]: Ron got saved like God and then Ron shot the the assassin is the one that shoots the assassin in the face and so basically they get the whole We're bonded for life forever now.
[SPEAKER_01]: We know we're both each other At the time does thank you very much. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the pump is Ron also will try to kill him again later [SPEAKER_01]: It will, I'm saying, but as of right this second, right now he's cool with him and then a later be like, I'm just saying he, well, God saved his life, Ron, effectively saved God's life right now.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, that's true. [SPEAKER_00]: They're kind of cool at this point, but just kind of. [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, with the destruction of the STC, it turns out all those pillars were attached to it as well. [SPEAKER_00]: All the pillars then turn off and the extra collapsing down. [SPEAKER_00]: So all the chaos forces in them, [SPEAKER_00]: And now the forces of the Imperium are able to reconvene they turn the tide of the battle.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the Imperium Real La Conquer, this nothing pointless world. [SPEAKER_00]: That's, and that's the end of that. [SPEAKER_00]: So that's the end of this story for now. [SPEAKER_00]: We'll break here. [SPEAKER_00]: Next week, we're going to do more inquisition and more imperial guard backstabbing because the sub-acquisites, the continues, starts to get a lot worse.
[SPEAKER_00]: They have to push into the core worlds and God is going to start to become a lot more powerful because he and [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and the tannethers start pulling off bit more and more of the impossible. [SPEAKER_00]: There's a little bit of jumping the shark. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to warn you guys now.
[SPEAKER_00]: I probably will complain a little bit next week about some of the battles that the gone scost pull off, but that's me. [SPEAKER_00]: But he is going to be a living. [SPEAKER_00]: I think he's a living saint. [SPEAKER_00]: So yes, it's okay. [SPEAKER_00]: He does it. [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, until then, John Barsotti, Brad Chester, [UNKNOWN]: Thank you.
