[SPEAKER_00]: Today, we're continuing our coverage of the 10th first and only, with a focus on really kind of their crazy luck that just falls in everywhere they go, and then setting up one of the most important conflicts that they're going to be part of, the Vergast Civil War.

[SPEAKER_00]: We also have sweatshirt. [SPEAKER_00]: It'll be cold out at some point unless you're in Australia In which case it's well, it's not actually ever cold in Australia. [SPEAKER_00]: It gets really not straight [SPEAKER_00]: No, it doesn't, not compared to where we live, Brad. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, not compared to where we live.

[SPEAKER_00]: You're all talking, I mean, you're comparing, I guess. [SPEAKER_01]: I know you're saying, not compared to where we live. [SPEAKER_00]: It is a, that's a side note. [SPEAKER_00]: Huh? [SPEAKER_00]: Why is that? [SPEAKER_00]: Why is there no one those Southern Hemisphere? [SPEAKER_00]: I can think of, that gets, that's a shitty is where we live.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I already can. [SPEAKER_01]: That's my fair. [SPEAKER_00]: Just occurred to me. [SPEAKER_00]: That's not fair. [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway. [SPEAKER_00]: All right, but. [SPEAKER_00]: Our Patreon, you know, it's supposed to be a Patreon. [SPEAKER_00]: Patreon's are wonderful things. [SPEAKER_00]: Patreon's a great way to support artists or really anyone who you think is doing a good job.

[SPEAKER_00]: Great thing. [SPEAKER_00]: We have it. [SPEAKER_00]: You get this show and the history of 40K for $4.99 a month or still $4.99 a sense because I just got back from Seattle and I want to talk about it because I forgot how much I liked it out there. [SPEAKER_00]: This is a part of the country that gets shit on a lot, and I went to college in Tacoma, which is actually one of the worst parts of the area, and I still like it up there.

[SPEAKER_00]: I went to Pivot Sound before anyone sends me notes. [SPEAKER_00]: And I actually went there when the Tacoma aroma was a thing, and Crystal Map was a big thing, and I still like it up there. [SPEAKER_00]: So there you go. [SPEAKER_00]: But let's talk about Seattle, because I'm not going to try and sell anyone in Tacoma.

[SPEAKER_00]: I know better. [SPEAKER_00]: So, if you never been to Seattle, go in the summer, don't go in the winter. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not going to pretend I can't sell it that well. [SPEAKER_00]: It sucks in the winter. [SPEAKER_00]: But in the summer, it's incredible. [SPEAKER_00]: You get 14 plus hours of sunlight.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's amazing. [SPEAKER_00]: You get views of the Mount Rainier, which is actually volcano. [SPEAKER_00]: You get waterfronts. [SPEAKER_00]: The city's cool is hell. [SPEAKER_00]: It's built on what feels like a mountain side because everywhere you go, you have to walk uphill. [SPEAKER_00]: So, name not ideal for bread.

[SPEAKER_00]: And I do remember that he's sick there, you really, you like walking up hills, peak shape, no thing you are, you're not even, you're not even peaked, shaped. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, but settles actually kind of, your local history obviously people know it as a birthplace of Starbucks and Amazon.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's also the birthplace of Nordstrom and Costco, the home of the world's greatest hot dog. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, quick side note, just for me, stop sharing on Starbucks everybody. [SPEAKER_00]: I realize it's not as good coffee as a local coffee shop, but [SPEAKER_00]: I will say as someone old enough to remember, there was a time when all of our coffee came from diners, gas stations and Dunkin Donuts.

[SPEAKER_00]: Then Starbucks came along and introduced flavor to coffee, and it was lovely, and they paved the way for all these mom and pop shops that I actually do shop at now, by my coffee. [SPEAKER_00]: And, [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so yeah, they're a behemoth. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they don't, their employees very well, but you know what, let's at least give them the credit for creating something cool.

[SPEAKER_00]: But, all right, back to Seattle. [SPEAKER_00]: Seattle also has a cool history. [SPEAKER_00]: They invented the modern backpack, because RRI is also from there. [SPEAKER_00]: The game, Pictionary, the stadium move, the wave, and the electric base guitar. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: But the worries need go there, food and scenery.

[SPEAKER_00]: I was there for four days and I spent the entire time going for hikes needing seafood. [SPEAKER_00]: And the hikes are incredible. [SPEAKER_00]: And ooh, the seafood is nuts. [SPEAKER_00]: Shellfish, sushi, ah, and also it meets not your thing. [SPEAKER_00]: Buy some of the best vegan food in the country.

[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, it the hikes are beautiful. [SPEAKER_00]: You got pine forests. [SPEAKER_00]: There's so this nice little shade. [SPEAKER_00]: So if you're not really good with the sun, you don't have to put on a bunch of sunblock. [SPEAKER_00]: It's great. [SPEAKER_00]: It does have some hippies. [SPEAKER_00]: I did, you know, there was a dude walking down the street playing what turned out to be a double flute I had to look it up later.

[SPEAKER_00]: But that was actually kind of a nice, he wasn't bothering anybody. [SPEAKER_00]: He was just wandering down the street, adding music. [SPEAKER_00]: it was nice. [SPEAKER_00]: So anyway, go there, wander around. [SPEAKER_00]: You will discover that it's pretty cool place. [SPEAKER_00]: All right.

[SPEAKER_00]: Lastly, our discord. [SPEAKER_00]: Journal of discord. [SPEAKER_00]: Is it our discord is fun? [SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, it's free. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not an ****. [SPEAKER_00]: I saw. [SPEAKER_00]: Join our discord. [SPEAKER_00]: It's awesome. [SPEAKER_00]: It's so much fun. [SPEAKER_00]: The worst part is I used to say and then two people yelled at me and now I have a quick, quick toppling down on it.

[SPEAKER_00]: I charge for my discord. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, yeah, you're a dick. [SPEAKER_00]: So anyway, our discord is free. [SPEAKER_00]: It's available. [SPEAKER_00]: Join our discord. [SPEAKER_00]: It's fun. [SPEAKER_00]: It's awesome. [SPEAKER_00]: Our discord's done an incredible job as a whole of building itself into a great community.

[SPEAKER_00]: I've found incredible advice there for reading, for painting, actually, I've actually picked up paint dips passively, I haven't told anybody about it, I've seen people talking about stuff like, oh, that's a really good, that's a good idea. [SPEAKER_00]: I've picked up painting tips there, some great literature recommendations, especially to the newer books that come out, you really aren't going to get good reviews of a lot of these books, two options are going to be read it, or our discord.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's a really cool thing for a lot of the people who are [SPEAKER_00]: But there we go, one, all right. [SPEAKER_00]: So let's get back into God. [SPEAKER_00]: So God and the Tanneth are in kind of a weird spot. [SPEAKER_00]: They are part of a bunch of victories all around the sub-out world crusade, which makes them really popular with like Macaroff.

[SPEAKER_00]: But as you move further down, they're not as popular as you would think. [SPEAKER_00]: Mostly because it's a fictional character and they have to make up a story. [SPEAKER_01]: Ah, because the people that are trying to get glory and not have their glory, you super buy a bunch of low-born.

[SPEAKER_01]: And yes, are you Brad, are you doing air quotes in an audio-only podcast? [SPEAKER_01]: 100%. [SPEAKER_01]: That's what I do. [SPEAKER_01]: But people are trying to steal. [SPEAKER_01]: We just talked about that last cast, which is other, the larger, the bigger dog commanders are trying to effectively steal glory and they're mad when they don't get the glory because the renown of the ghost is getting better and better.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and when hands up happening is that as a result, the 10th end up in kind of a weird spot because also don't forget some of their biggest achievements end up being redacted like you know stopping the men of iron from coming back. [SPEAKER_00]: make no one realizes that they just see rub the entire galaxy.

[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: So they also say the galaxy. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, no one's going to know about that. [SPEAKER_00]: In fact, a lot of the stuff that they do doesn't get fully reported out. [SPEAKER_00]: So while we know as a reader of the books, I just imagine you're reporting coming out.

[SPEAKER_01]: Let's just all black redacted with like four names. [SPEAKER_00]: the 10th first and only still alive. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but it's 42 pages. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and that's all you get. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So that's where they're situated. [SPEAKER_00]: They've got a bunch of people who keep seeing them get sent to all these new places because [SPEAKER_00]: while they're redacted, the upper echelons know how successful they are, but again, your point like the Mordians, the Vulpine, they're looking on like, why are these forest folk being treated like us?

[SPEAKER_00]: And they start getting a little bit upset. [SPEAKER_01]: And it's also, they have a little bit of animosity. [SPEAKER_01]: Don't trust everybody. [SPEAKER_01]: And it's well deserved. [SPEAKER_01]: Three of their first five, [SPEAKER_01]: engagements are them getting sent to die not to succeed to die purposely they are a distraction carniflex yes listen you're like hey these without the carniflex actually you the tanniff seem very standoffish you're like you know shit man people keep trying to kill us a lot that are on our side [SPEAKER_00]: And what ends up happening, though, is that they are this back country woodsmen, but they keep showing that they're successful.

[SPEAKER_00]: And one of the issues with them, though, is that they do always get lucky. [SPEAKER_00]: Now again, the truth is, it's a... [SPEAKER_00]: this way no better it's just a trope because these are their 15 bucks. [SPEAKER_00]: So of course we keep getting lucky. [SPEAKER_00]: This is GW writing.

[SPEAKER_00]: This is actually all writing. [SPEAKER_00]: That's when makes stories. [SPEAKER_00]: Good. [SPEAKER_00]: Why we like reading a story. [SPEAKER_00]: A story where they just keep winning from page one through page 500 isn't that exciting of a book. [SPEAKER_00]: Whatever. [SPEAKER_00]: But let's talk about some more times where they get [SPEAKER_00]: And we'll start with Sapencia, because Sapencia is actually a hilariously fun story.

[SPEAKER_01]: Now, for everybody that wants us to tell where this is from Ghostmaker, and not just from its stories inside. [SPEAKER_00]: All right. [SPEAKER_00]: So Nadsie Bear, which I people all seem to be really enjoying at call in this, was defeated, and that was just initially really good for the Imperium.

[SPEAKER_00]: Nadsie Bear was a very powerful chaos leader, and he commanded a massive force. [SPEAKER_00]: as part of this, he just basically forced a bunch of war bands to bend the knee to him. [SPEAKER_00]: So when he was defeated, they all splittered and fractured. [SPEAKER_00]: And this is why Mac are often initially went in all in on hunting them down, killing his maize.

[SPEAKER_00]: He could cause he knew they were at the weakest at this point. [SPEAKER_00]: And so he had a strike now. [SPEAKER_00]: Because the thing Maccaroath realized is that once Natsibere was gone, a lot of his former Lutenants would rise up to take his place, and some of them would gain enough power and renown to actually become potentially even more powerful than Natsibere was.

[SPEAKER_00]: And that's one of the stories of today, which is Sholan Scarra. [SPEAKER_00]: Scarra was the leader of the Kiff, and [SPEAKER_00]: and they were hard core corn. [SPEAKER_00]: But really, but based on level, when you look at corn, corn worshippers come on a bit of a spectrum, you've got some of them are actually really good conquest.

[SPEAKER_00]: If you think of Genghis Khan, Genghis Khan, what have been corn? [SPEAKER_00]: Because he conquered all of Asia and part of Europe. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, blood for the blood God skulls was called from. [SPEAKER_00]: That is the kith. [SPEAKER_00]: They are really, they're basically like berserkers.

[SPEAKER_00]: And this constant cycle of murder, torture, death. [SPEAKER_00]: That's really all they did. [SPEAKER_00]: And Skara and the kith had been carving the just bloody path across the subat worlds. [SPEAKER_00]: And they eventually encountered this high world of Sapencia. [SPEAKER_00]: And Sapencia was an ocean world that was also a high world.

[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: I just to see what it was where Gobi Wan goes to get the clones. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they describe it as the main hive, which is where Scarra was, was built on top of a group of submarine mountains. [SPEAKER_00]: So it's just a giant hive with a bunch of little beach around it.

[SPEAKER_00]: So obviously we're discussing Normandy. [SPEAKER_00]: That's kind of what this was. [SPEAKER_01]: I thought so, it's more... [SPEAKER_01]: It's for me, it felt like more like a bunch of floating cities and walls that were super massive. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but it's really hard... Because they're still super, I mean, they're almost continents, they're so big.

[SPEAKER_00]: But I don't think they are in this case, that's the problem because in this one because of the way the story goes, it doesn't feel like it's that large. [SPEAKER_00]: That's what that they just have a bunch of islands. [SPEAKER_01]: There is a bunch of island. [SPEAKER_00]: It's totally just one big hive in this case.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's the stories weird, but we're going to tell you the different islands because when they first do their invasion, they go to Oscar island and they, that's where they have all the problems with. [SPEAKER_01]: Also, there's going to fire me up when you're like, oh, no, the basilic pieces hit water.

[SPEAKER_01]: And somehow, now it's ruined. [SPEAKER_01]: You're like, no, I refused to believe the, it's sunk. [SPEAKER_01]: It, no, but they couldn't use it after they got it back. [SPEAKER_01]: They, they had, they got wet. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it was, it was too wet. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because they made of candles, apparently.

[SPEAKER_01]: Ha, ha, just like it's the, we're, we're 42,000 in the future. [SPEAKER_01]: You're like, nope, water can't. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, possibly that nothing that water was salty. [SPEAKER_00]: All right, so yeah, the plan was especially for the main hive with the do an orbital invasion onto this very small beach that surrounds the hive, blow the walls up and reclaim the hive.

[SPEAKER_00]: And the defenders inside the hive felt differently about this point. [SPEAKER_00]: And I took a step to that. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so as the drop ships start to arrive a combo of return far from the city and apparently the kickback air quotes there But it's but they wrote from the ocean created havoc on the drop pots apparently in the year 41,000 Our drop ships can't handle landing on an ocean Yes, was a thing they were also I did somehow not did they just crash they dumped quote from the book [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's as typically the city of Bolano, yes, as they approach the city, they just went and they say just to dump stuff.

[SPEAKER_00]: And what happens is for those who aren't aware, the density of water is one gram per cubic centimeters. [SPEAKER_00]: So that's if you have higher density of the net, you sink. [SPEAKER_00]: And a basalisk has higher density than one gram per cubic centimeter. [SPEAKER_00]: and all of them began sanking with all of the texts, everything, so this invasion wasn't going well to start with, including a lot of the more heavily armored guardsmen, because they're basically being drowned by their own forest by being dumped in the ocean.

[SPEAKER_00]: The can, if though, not heavily armored, so they also am the shore, because you know, and the camera back was planted, so they also can swim. [SPEAKER_01]: I do like the fact that they were having trouble doing all this, but one of the ships crash landed and makes a breach in the wall. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, this is the dumbest thing.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they're all that beach. [SPEAKER_00]: How are we going to get through the wall and a ship crash into the wall? [SPEAKER_00]: It's talking about luck. [SPEAKER_01]: It's like, I just imagine the guy's saying that as he says it right behind him. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: That's the reason. [SPEAKER_00]: But the kid did see that and then went kind of sealed it up. [SPEAKER_00]: But then Domeur, who's one of the 10th, had a prior injury and was given a bionic eye with X-ray vision. [SPEAKER_00]: It hurt me to say that. [SPEAKER_00]: It hurt me to say that.

[SPEAKER_00]: And with his X-ray vision, he looks cool. [SPEAKER_00]: He does, but no one has x-ray vision. [SPEAKER_00]: It's not a thing. [SPEAKER_00]: He does. [SPEAKER_00]: It. [SPEAKER_01]: I work for a company that makes, trying to tell me that we have work travel and you're worried about x-ray vision, you know what?

[SPEAKER_01]: Who are you? [SPEAKER_01]: You're just like, who are you? [SPEAKER_00]: If he had warp site, it makes sense. [SPEAKER_00]: But to have an x-ray, you have to have, you fire electrons at the sense around the other side. [SPEAKER_00]: That's how, that's how, you know what? [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe you have.

[SPEAKER_00]: He always says literally around the other side. [SPEAKER_00]: What I do for a living and lecture on it. [SPEAKER_01]: about this. [SPEAKER_01]: He's like, I use magic and cool. [SPEAKER_00]: And also, that's my of this character. [SPEAKER_00]: We talked about this before. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm totally fine with he had a magic eye that let him see.

[SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't push back at all. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like, okay, that's fine. [SPEAKER_00]: He had warps like. [SPEAKER_00]: All right. [SPEAKER_01]: For this guy, I'm more cool, though, because it's super sinister has red extra. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: Just say he has a magic eye.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm five. [SPEAKER_00]: That's all I need. [SPEAKER_00]: Let it go. [SPEAKER_00]: It's it's medical Williams. [SPEAKER_00]: It's just on his back, but anyway, so he does, they then do the whole movie trope of climbing through the air ducts because they find this tube and they go through this because you know, making no noise, no one knows they're there and this man might get, you know, I was going to do a diet tribe into that, not doing it.

[SPEAKER_00]: So, Katherine, there's other kind of, if it leads a small fire team through the tunnel, and they bring explosives with them, and their goal was we're going to get noticed how the wall, and we'll blow a hole in the wall, and all of our forces can come through. [SPEAKER_00]: A plus plan. [SPEAKER_00]: The great luck of the emperor though helps and not even better because they get caught.

[SPEAKER_00]: And when they get, well, not caught caught, they get found out and they go run away from the kid who are chasing them. [SPEAKER_00]: And while they're running away, it's a massively outnumbering force of chasing them. [SPEAKER_00]: So they decide, we're just going to blow up this basically manufacturing and we'll bring it right down on the enemy.

[SPEAKER_00]: And that way, that'll buy us some time and we can figure something else out. [SPEAKER_00]: So they do that. [SPEAKER_00]: and they bring this whole big tower down and it works. [SPEAKER_00]: The, the, the, the, and they stop chasing for it. [SPEAKER_01]: Don't forget about poor surge and go early.

[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to get this fire team. [SPEAKER_01]: We're going to, you know, get into this tunnel. [SPEAKER_01]: We're going to do all the things and eight seconds later. [SPEAKER_01]: He realized he's wearing a wrencher and gets, yeah, [SPEAKER_00]: But I like this story, like, because it's a stupid story, but it's very funny.

[SPEAKER_00]: So, Katherine and crew, after bringing down the manufacturing storm, start wandering around the city, trying to find something else, and they noticed something kind of odd. [SPEAKER_00]: Namely, there's no more defenders. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, no one, we got caught earlier, and we seem to not be getting caught again.

[SPEAKER_00]: Like, that scene in Shrek, where they're wandering through, and there's just no one there, welcome to do luck, where the perfect place, like that level of thing. [SPEAKER_00]: And it's really empty. [SPEAKER_00]: And imagine they learn why they come across the main square. [SPEAKER_00]: And inside the main square, Scarra has decided to go full gym jumps.

[SPEAKER_00]: He has, Scarra has tried in the cool lane, but really far too late with [SPEAKER_00]: night with knives. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, yeah, they are making sacrifices to corn because when they bring down this tower, they decided that this must be this gigantic force that there's no way they would be able to repel them and they want to make sure they go out in their own terms, blood for the blood.

[SPEAKER_01]: I don't be taking captive. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, this is what we're doing. [SPEAKER_01]: The guys are like, there's 10 of us. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, Scarra has decided that he is because he's kind of like 30 and no is what this is for corn. [SPEAKER_00]: And he knows if the Imperium is inside the city, he's going to lose.

[SPEAKER_00]: So rather than go 30 and one, he's saying, I'm not going to give the Imperium the victory. [SPEAKER_00]: We're going to do a great big corn thing. [SPEAKER_00]: We're all going to kill ourselves and corn. [SPEAKER_00]: He waiting for us on the other side. [SPEAKER_00]: So calf from the crew just kind of sit there calmly and watch.

[SPEAKER_00]: and just let the numbers of living kiff diminished to a point where they're like, I would just capture the rest of them, and then rush over there and capture, including Scarra alive. [SPEAKER_00]: Who I'm assuming that this, by the way, is a, I think it's Leo Major's role, and then, or it's, there's a Canadian guy at, I think it's Francis Pegam, Pegam Hambau.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'll get it. [SPEAKER_00]: Someone comment at other comment or post and discord, but I think that's where this is referring to because these were snipers who basically captured a massive number of Germans. [SPEAKER_00]: Because they assumed that they were outnumbered and in fact, we just one dude is like, I hope reinforcements come because they think of this out.

[SPEAKER_00]: I have so many critters. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: Nate's going to hurt. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: As soon as they realize, I'm hanging by myself. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's like, but that's what I think that's what this was meant to be an homage to.

[SPEAKER_00]: But Katherine does, they take the entire city with a guy's so with that one, we move on to another. [SPEAKER_01]: Give the thing, because I love to give the, you know, to give the full beat down on it. [SPEAKER_01]: Because this was, they were, they were going to, because they were going to, they're all scheduled to be executed and God says, hey, [SPEAKER_01]: Katherine, you have the honors of executing the sky, you know, you did all you came in and he lent this group.

[SPEAKER_01]: And he goes, nah, I think it would be way worse for him to just be taken prisoner and have to live with the fact that he lost and he sucks basically. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, to which guard does lose his shit about. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because Scar it's starting to begging to be killed. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, anyway, we're the inquisition.

[SPEAKER_00]: Which he does escape and then get recaptured later, different story different day. [SPEAKER_00]: But let's talk more about luck of the tennis, because there's official and there's redacted history. [SPEAKER_00]: And this is another one that's going to get a little bit of both, because we have, we're going to have the tennis.

[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to have the inquisition. [SPEAKER_00]: We're going to have a whole bunch of stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: This is a fun story. [SPEAKER_00]: We'll be right back after a quick break. [SPEAKER_00]: So, members, curl, straw, and his bowl-peen blue bloods, they keep fighting themselves deployed around the TANF.

[SPEAKER_00]: And, after enough kind of mutual deployments together, the bowl-peen officers start getting really unhappy with the TANF, especially due to one incident, where they lose a ton of money to the TANF, gambling and a game of chance. [SPEAKER_00]: And the game is basically, it's got a little box, and they put a bug in the box, and what hole is the bug going to come out of in the box?

[SPEAKER_00]: And the 10th managed to win this every single time when the pot gets to it's absolute largest. [SPEAKER_01]: I love everything about this because they're like, we've lost so many times in a row. [SPEAKER_01]: Which craft? [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, which craft? [SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely, which got so what they do is they call the ink they tell on them and they call the ink with it Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.

[SPEAKER_00]: Just England. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, it is until I'm till I'm till you just tweak it a little bit and add a little bit of money Python to it and it gets very, very funny [SPEAKER_00]: because a long comes and quizzed her lilyf, and I'm not doing her last name, that's impossible, and she has her scale, and there's a duck on one side of the scale, and she's ready to weigh them against the duck.

[SPEAKER_00]: And she does actually her full investigation. [SPEAKER_00]: Descar was a tanniff, actually, aren't witches. [SPEAKER_00]: The whole story is very, very funny. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not going to spoil it, because it's just a good story. [SPEAKER_00]: But effectively, the tanniff do way more than a duck.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's what you guys need to know for the [SPEAKER_00]: I was just about to say she just now is part of the crew just rolling around and so any good black library book if an inquisitive shows up stories about to get good. [SPEAKER_00]: So we're terrible first it's what's always a story story will get good.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah something bad's gonna happen for someone else. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah and so we're off to the world of Monthocks so. [SPEAKER_00]: This is large chaos force the planet and they're being sent there to cleanse this chaos force off the planet. [SPEAKER_00]: The problem is that when the imperial force arrives, they situate in the planet, they get ready.

[SPEAKER_00]: They notice the chaos force, just this kind of going off to the left, not away from them, not into them, just off to the left and into the jungle. [SPEAKER_00]: And Imperium does, that when the chaos doesn't really wander, so when they go somewhere, there's something there. [SPEAKER_00]: So they go, now into the jungle we go, and everyone goes into the jungle.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'd sing the story from the jungle book, but I actually don't know that song because I haven't seen that since I was a very young child. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, can we sing at least bare necessities? [SPEAKER_01]: I couldn't feel so much. [SPEAKER_00]: This is a little bare necessity. [SPEAKER_00]: There we go.

[SPEAKER_00]: I knew it was there. [SPEAKER_00]: I just couldn't. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't like Disney. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm doing the Disney series. [SPEAKER_00]: Sorry. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, my balloon, let's do it. [SPEAKER_00]: There we go. [SPEAKER_00]: The viewpoint is the worst case now is a dangerous artifact there.

[SPEAKER_00]: Best case scenario. [SPEAKER_00]: They're trying to get around our defenses somewhere. [SPEAKER_00]: Wait, but other way, kill the chaos. [SPEAKER_00]: As soon as the Imperium catches up to the chaos forces there, a giant lightning storm happens, but like force lightning. [SPEAKER_00]: I was saying it's not like, you know, lightning this night, it's the Emperor's casting death on all of us kind of.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, not Toledo in August, like an actual. [SPEAKER_00]: This is this one's bad and then right afterwards hallucinations begin for the taneth and the Volpeen independent of each other. [SPEAKER_00]: For the taneth it starts subtle. [SPEAKER_00]: They start smelling the trees of taneth.

[SPEAKER_00]: They start hearing birds and forest from the taneth. [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: And they start going strong as they get more and more into the forest. [SPEAKER_01]: They start reimagining the forest [SPEAKER_00]: And eventually they come upon the governor's palace of 10th and it's under assault from chaos forces.

[SPEAKER_00]: So they rushed to this governor's palace that defended from the chaos forces. [SPEAKER_00]: At the same time, the Volpone, is it Volpone or Volpone? [SPEAKER_00]: Volpone? [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, the Volpone could still Volpone. [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't write forever. [SPEAKER_00]: I could think of the Volpone.

[SPEAKER_01]: We do have my talking comments, talking telling us how to spell, you know, do MacArthur? [SPEAKER_00]: I guess this is one of the ones I did on audiobook. [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like in my head, I'm like I could have sworn the audiobook was the Volpone, but when I read it, it's Volpone. [SPEAKER_00]: But let's do Volpone.

[SPEAKER_00]: So the Volpone are also there. [SPEAKER_00]: Hey, those. [SPEAKER_00]: are transported to an even crazier place. [SPEAKER_00]: They're all transported to this world because Ignax, my gear. [SPEAKER_00]: And Ignax, my gear was a planet. [SPEAKER_00]: It's actually the greatest and most famous defeat of the volcano.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's about, it's lived in infamy through all of their history. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like one of the worst defeats they have ever had. [SPEAKER_00]: They've been trying to redeem themselves. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, now they're in it. [SPEAKER_00]: So these two forces are now fighting due to hallucinations.

[SPEAKER_00]: and the Vulpine are effectively protecting or reclaiming their honor. [SPEAKER_00]: And the reason why is of course Eldar, the Eldar are there. [SPEAKER_00]: Monfax was a web weight gate. [SPEAKER_00]: And it was an unsecure web weight gate, because I guess the Eldar can just leave the keys around.

[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it was the left of the key in the rock, but they forgot to like turn the rock over. [SPEAKER_01]: a lot in these stories by the way. [SPEAKER_00]: They do this all the way. [SPEAKER_00]: Elderly green door open kind of a lot. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and not in good neighborhoods to like it's one of those things like it's not gated communities.

[SPEAKER_00]: And the elder had gone there to seal it. [SPEAKER_00]: Because this gate, I guess, was a direct shot into a craft world. [SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, not something you want chaos having access to. [SPEAKER_00]: and the elder before they could close it, we're getting over one by the chaos forces.

[SPEAKER_00]: So the far sea or just does what it can do best, lightning storm, and let's use humans as cannon fodder. [SPEAKER_01]: Get it right for the game. [SPEAKER_01]: He definitely cast Eldridge storm. [SPEAKER_00]: Eight out of six cast Eldridge. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: No, yeah, that thing was, we're not ninth edition.

[SPEAKER_00]: Ninth, it is a ninth edition. [SPEAKER_00]: Ninth, it was ninth edition. [SPEAKER_00]: Ninth, it was ninth edition. [SPEAKER_00]: Ninth edition was the one where you cast him with people like, so everybody around, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, neither show was one way came out. [SPEAKER_00]: We all read that and like, so this rule is going to be gone.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then you get three. [SPEAKER_01]: Yep, and it was, it was like, well, you can drop it three multiple times for each farce here, multiple times for each farce here, you had, you could move up and get better range. [SPEAKER_00]: That thing wasn't fun. [SPEAKER_00]: All right, thank you.

[SPEAKER_00]: It was fantastic. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but here's the fun thing about this. [SPEAKER_00]: The 10th and the Volponevolpine were successful. [SPEAKER_00]: They turned back the chaos force and it was cool for the 10th, the great, because they actually got to feel redemption. [SPEAKER_00]: They fought for 10th.

[SPEAKER_00]: They felt because all of them remember had abandoned 10th. [SPEAKER_00]: They didn't mean to, they were ordered into a troop transfer. [SPEAKER_00]: They knew it was going on. [SPEAKER_00]: But they've always felt with only we've been at had a chance to defend our home world. [SPEAKER_00]: And this was great.

[SPEAKER_00]: This was a chance for a lot of the members of the Tanneth to not feel as much hatred towards God because they did finally get a chance to redeem themselves. [SPEAKER_00]: It's kind of lame if I'm being honest with one of the more lame or endings of the gone books. [SPEAKER_01]: But he does accomplish his goal because they do close this portal, which led directly to a huge trader, massive trader.

[SPEAKER_00]: So inquisitor Lilith, who is of ornozinos. [SPEAKER_00]: and has been obsessed with the Eldar apparently the whole time and spent her whole career studying Eldar. [SPEAKER_00]: I also did a check on this by the way, so the movie Avatar came out nine years after this book, so this is just a rip off of dances with wolves.

[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, after she decides to just go full blown, join the Eldar, so she uses her second powers to close the web way and her and the Eldar go into the web way and she goes and hangs out in the craft world. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think she would've gotten a million. [SPEAKER_00]: I closed your runway for you, and they looked at her like, there's zero percent chance.

[SPEAKER_00]: Just, you know, also, what's the atmosphere inside of a craft world? [SPEAKER_00]: Just throwing that one out there too. [SPEAKER_00]: We never addressed that very much in this game about how it everything seems to be very breathable. [SPEAKER_00]: with the necrons makes sense. [SPEAKER_00]: They can go anywhere.

[SPEAKER_00]: It works. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, anywhere. [SPEAKER_01]: It's straight up, start track style. [SPEAKER_01]: Every place is awesome. [SPEAKER_01]: No need to. [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: It's true, guys. [SPEAKER_01]: T, T shirt and a high pair of boots, bro. [SPEAKER_00]: It's all you need.

[SPEAKER_00]: I, the problem is I refuse to do Star Trek. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm only doing Galaxy Quest from now on. [SPEAKER_00]: Everything is Galaxy Quest. [SPEAKER_01]: The question is why? [SPEAKER_00]: Rock, rock, rock, rock, rock. [SPEAKER_00]: Why are they saying that? [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, it's a great movie.

[SPEAKER_00]: All right, but we're not going to take a bit of a left turn and talk a bit more about the galaxy at large because we've been talking a lot about guard regiments and how they take on-bridge with each other. [SPEAKER_00]: And we just set something really big up here, which is very gasped.

[SPEAKER_00]: You know, the guard regiments they have, jealous, the jealousy that someone has a victory, everyone gets upset, they backstab each other, [SPEAKER_00]: One of my favorite Gonskos books is Necropolis, and it's because it shows us that the hive worlds saw at a different level than I ever even imagined.

[SPEAKER_00]: So these crudges will exist even within the hives. [SPEAKER_00]: And so, because of the period, also, [SPEAKER_01]: going back to what we said a couple of times and some of the other cast of cast of stuff. [SPEAKER_01]: Once you realize how an imperial high-world works, you go, how is everybody not turning to chaos and other forces?

[SPEAKER_00]: Oh god, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: You give somebody any option whatsoever, they're like, it's so much better than this. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the Imperium cares about one thing and one thing only the spice will flow because we don't have a four to rip off a dune. [SPEAKER_00]: It's fine. [SPEAKER_00]: And if they're GW did this a bunch of stuff, they've ever worked out there for Lion King.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's Brad discovered is a rip off of Hamlet. [SPEAKER_00]: How much? [SPEAKER_00]: Hamlet. [SPEAKER_01]: I already knew, but I thought Lion King was the better. [SPEAKER_00]: Do you know what Hamlet's a rip off of? [SPEAKER_00]: I'm a big fan. [SPEAKER_00]: with Hamlet's a rip off of the Legend of Amlet.

[SPEAKER_00]: So my favorite one's Legend of Amlet. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a date, I find everyone's gonna learn today. [SPEAKER_00]: Legend of Amlet. [SPEAKER_00]: So I was in this camp recently, I was talking to someone about this recently. [SPEAKER_00]: Legend of Amlet, it's a old Danish story. [SPEAKER_00]: You have two brothers that are pointed by the King to rule different lands.

[SPEAKER_00]: One marriage that King's daughter, he has a son named Amlet, that the other one's so Amlet, his uncle, kills his dad. [SPEAKER_00]: Amleth knows this, and then pretends to go crazy so that, you know, his uncle doesn't then murder him too. [SPEAKER_00]: You mean, King, he then... [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so he then leaves, there was even a rose in crants and guildens during the story by the way.

[SPEAKER_00]: The only main difference is the ending to the legend of Amleth is way cooler than the ending of Hamlet. [SPEAKER_00]: Because the ending of the legend of Amleth is Amleth fights his uncle inside of a building that he set on fire, kills his uncle and becomes the new king. [SPEAKER_00]: it's such a better ending.

[SPEAKER_01]: But then also fights in an, I thought he also was a king of England at one point. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and then he basically goes out in a blaze of glory and epic combat, too. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but he also doesn't die at the end and kills his uncle, redeem himself, takes over the entire kingdom.

[SPEAKER_00]: And he's also, this is why I was a Danish story. [SPEAKER_00]: At the same time, is a king of a small portion of England. [SPEAKER_00]: because it's a 1200's and England was not that valuable, but that's a legend van with look it up, it's very fun. [SPEAKER_00]: But what matters about this is hive cities.

[SPEAKER_00]: Hive cities, we cover them a bit, they have a tithe system. [SPEAKER_00]: Everything in the galaxy has a tithe system. [SPEAKER_00]: And the tithe gets met everyone's happy because whatever, right? [SPEAKER_00]: But if someone on the planet thinks they should be in charge, right? [SPEAKER_00]: And they want to take charge, there are three things that will affect that.

[SPEAKER_00]: First, can they keep the tithe going or increase it? [SPEAKER_00]: Second, would the inquisition consider what they're trying to do to be chaos? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and third, are there any friends that they're about to use Serp who have powerful? [SPEAKER_00]: That's kind of powerful, that's kind of powerful, that's kind of powerful, that's kind of powerful, that's kind of powerful, that's kind of powerful, that's kind of powerful, that's kind of powerful, that's kind of powerful, that's kind of powerful, that's kind of powerful, that's kind of powerful, that's kind of powerful, that's kind of powerful, that's kind of powerful, that's kind of powerful, that's kind of powerful, that's kind of powerful, that's kind of powerful, that's kind of powerful, that's kind of powerful, that's kind of powerful, that's kind of powerful, that's kind of powerful, that's kind of powerful, that's kind of powerful, that's kind of powerful, that

[SPEAKER_01]: And also it's one of the first three novels. [SPEAKER_01]: I would say the Gonsco's books are very very good, especially in the beginning. [SPEAKER_01]: I think that Cropolis gives you one of the best views of the Imperium. [SPEAKER_00]: And I wouldn't that's why I'm afraid of start with it.

[SPEAKER_01]: Ghostmakers really good to be honest. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm getting into Gons, you read the first one. [SPEAKER_01]: Ghostmaker has a bunch of short stories. [SPEAKER_01]: It's really nice. [SPEAKER_00]: you really couldn't read necropolis if you haven't read the first two grunts books because it just wouldn't make sense.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's some same book get get into this book though. [SPEAKER_01]: It this is one of I like to spend a little there's books that I you know listen to and I read read everything and there's books that I spend a lot of time with necropolis is one that I spend a lot of time with because it has a lot of views on the imperial.

[SPEAKER_01]: It also has a lot of views in the lore set of the game world. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, you don't have to have wild luck or weird things happening like you're like, no, this novel just goes and and cool. [SPEAKER_00]: So what happens with this one is we learn in necropolis is that within the high planets, what we just said, the hides go to war with each other all the time.

[SPEAKER_00]: And so, [SPEAKER_00]: Every planet, as we've covered, has a planetary defense force, also as a PDF, not just the thing that Brad tights in the Facebook, how do I open? [SPEAKER_00]: And a PDFs will vary inside. [SPEAKER_00]: Some are malicious, las guns, some defensive platforms, and others have full-blown regiments or larger.

[SPEAKER_00]: Infantry, siege armor, et cetera, et cetera. [SPEAKER_00]: These guys can go to war with each other. [SPEAKER_00]: Hive cities usually have that size, so a hive city will have its own full-blown military that [SPEAKER_00]: And the highest education will use them against each other because much like the movie Highlander there can be only one.

[SPEAKER_00]: The imperial functions in very, very opaque capitalism. [SPEAKER_00]: And what I mean by that is, we know they have a currency. [SPEAKER_00]: We know it exists because they mentioned it on occasion all the time. [SPEAKER_00]: One is, yeah, but we don't know anything about it, which makes sense in a galaxy spanning empire.

[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to have lots of stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: You have the official Imperial currency, Imperial credits, great generic phrase, no one cares. [SPEAKER_00]: Then you have local currency on planets, and because most people never leave the planet. [SPEAKER_00]: Generation, never leave the planet, except for guard, and the guard have their own currency.

[SPEAKER_01]: So yes, really, which I also love because then you go into other people, like the equation that inquisition of the space marines, who go, yeah, I was going to give you money, but I'm not. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm just going to take whatever the hell I want. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's mine now.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I really thought you were going to buy it. [SPEAKER_01]: I did. [SPEAKER_01]: I bought it for nothing. [SPEAKER_00]: actually I bought it for your life. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I bought it for my edict says that's mine now. [SPEAKER_00]: And so what happens is the real way it works is trade.

[SPEAKER_00]: The period is not a supreme communist dictatorship, you know, the government controls all forms of commerce and trade, because that's by the way what Communism is, stop calling everything Communism you don't like, it's, you know, unless it controls all forms of [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, the appearing is more of a social market economy, but I'm not getting that right now.

[SPEAKER_01]: outside of the time. [SPEAKER_01]: There is really to hear it at work out of me also. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: The idea around this is that a hive planet is a very lucrative thing. [SPEAKER_00]: They produce a lot and therefore they trade a lot, but that trade comes into a central point.

[SPEAKER_00]: There isn't a bringing all this up. [SPEAKER_00]: All that trade comes into a central point. [SPEAKER_00]: So one hive is going to usually control the levers of manufacturing and trade on a planet. [SPEAKER_00]: who makes what where the off world resources go and where the money flows. [SPEAKER_00]: Thus, civil war.

[SPEAKER_00]: As you can imagine, because everyone gets, it doesn't get distributed equally. [SPEAKER_00]: And so one such civil war had occurred on the planet of Vergast, 90 years prior to the outbreak of the civil war was a hive. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, they were in Hive and the Ferris Oigahive had a bitter civil war.

[SPEAKER_00]: And but they were in Hive was victorious. [SPEAKER_00]: barely. [SPEAKER_00]: But the 90 years since diplomatic relations had normalized, the two, they got in along pretty well. [SPEAKER_00]: Verenheim had shared the resources, because again, like the whole thing, like Verenheim, because they're in control, decide where the off-road resources come into, so they would decide how much could go to Verenheim, how much would go to them, so how much Verenheim could actually produce, et cetera, et cetera.

[SPEAKER_00]: And so the two hives actually [SPEAKER_01]: You know, they set this up because of the fact that it eventually we're going to get it obviously bad stuff's gonna happen. [SPEAKER_01]: It's a book, right, but I love the fact that he just refuses to believe this in the beginning, they're like, They're like, they're like, they're like, they're like, why would they come here?

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but so what ends up happening is just like on Sapencia, Virgas got a visit from chaos. [SPEAKER_00]: In this case, it's another of Nazi bears, Lieutenant. [SPEAKER_00]: This is a guy named Asfidel. [SPEAKER_00]: Asfidel is basically the mechanic of him's least favorite person. [SPEAKER_00]: They hate this guy, but it's all jealous hate.

[SPEAKER_00]: Asfidel had overseen all of Nadzi Bears armored equipment, not tanks and transports, but like he just a tinker. [SPEAKER_00]: This guy would make, it's hard to exactly explain it properly, but he just made horrible creations. [SPEAKER_00]: He tells about it. [SPEAKER_01]: He's like trans.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, without forgiveness. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm dead. [SPEAKER_01]: He just, yeah, they didn't even know how he's making him. [SPEAKER_01]: He just is. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's so the best way I can look at him is we cover this in the past. [SPEAKER_00]: There are four chaos gods and then there is vastor who's not a chaos god, but it's also kind of a chaos god.

[SPEAKER_01]: Like he's on the cusp. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Vasfidel Definitely had contact or had some sort of link to vastor, which makes sense because this book was written before they added vastor in the lore. [SPEAKER_00]: So we're gonna add that in there too. [SPEAKER_00]: He had no training with the mechanic.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm no training with a dark mechanic But he just continuously made these creations of war and he's master dark technology The mechanic can really just like really hits it by the way because they were like this stuff because he made all some stuff This just pure jealousy [SPEAKER_00]: I was trying to figure out whether I wanted him to be trash can, man, or McGyver, because he keeps using, like, he's basically evil McGyver.

[SPEAKER_00]: He's evil 18. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Also, he just, hey, I got a blowtorch, some gum, and three straws. [SPEAKER_01]: Let's do this. [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: So as little had secretly landed on broadcast and he's stuck into Ferris, like, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: No one knows how long he'd been there.

[SPEAKER_00]: Couldn't have been that long because of, you know, we know when Bellhurst fell down. [SPEAKER_00]: But while he was there, he basically achieved a revolt. [SPEAKER_00]: And he turned the hive to chaos. [SPEAKER_00]: And by turn the hive to chaos, let me in like a couple upper levels. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because sometimes, and we've learned in the eyes and horned novels a lot.

[SPEAKER_00]: you will have stuff for like the upper levels of it, are chaos, then all the people down below are just like whatever, they have no ID. [SPEAKER_00]: They're totally doing it. [SPEAKER_01]: They're doing it. [SPEAKER_01]: Because they go, who's in charge? [SPEAKER_01]: Does this change anything about my 16 hour workday?

[SPEAKER_01]: No? [SPEAKER_01]: Then good, good, exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm still just tot, totally away. [SPEAKER_00]: No, Ferris Oki was like, Vrax, where 100% of the people are chaos. [SPEAKER_00]: Asva now turned to this hive into an army, and something the people of Veren Hive had no idea about, because Veren Hive is aware that this about World Crusade is going on.

[SPEAKER_00]: They've been hearing messages telling them, hey, you have to divert your supplies over here. [SPEAKER_00]: This is where this is coming in from your transport. [SPEAKER_00]: routes are changing blah, blah, blah, blah. [SPEAKER_00]: And they're high of leader, a guy named Salvador Sondor is he's just kind of comfortable with it.

[SPEAKER_00]: So he's sitting, he's actually linked into like some chamber where he's brain runs the high. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he's basically running the plane at though at that point. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And it's fine. [SPEAKER_00]: He's doing all this stuff running because whatever the war's out there, my planet's extra important, no issue.

[SPEAKER_00]: But then there starts being these reports of gunfire on the edge of the hive. [SPEAKER_00]: And by gunfire, I don't mean like, call people shot each other, a mortar just landed and hit the wall and blew up a chunk of the wall. [SPEAKER_00]: And he responds back with, this is dissidents trying to create happiness with it within the city wall.

[SPEAKER_01]: He just doesn't even put up the shields. [SPEAKER_01]: He puts a room down. [SPEAKER_00]: Because it starts happening. [SPEAKER_00]: Because his viewpoint, people who didn't hate the pharaohzoicans, are attacking us. [SPEAKER_00]: He's like, no, they're not. [SPEAKER_00]: There are allies.

[SPEAKER_00]: We get along great with the pharaohzoicans, despite the fact that pharaohzoicans haven't spoken to him. [SPEAKER_00]: Mike. [SPEAKER_00]: a month or a month. [SPEAKER_00]: So for you how long it's been a while. [SPEAKER_00]: They haven't had any communication with the Ferris Oigens in a while.

[SPEAKER_00]: But whatever, and he yet won't raise the void shield, won't do anything. [SPEAKER_00]: And this artillery barrage starts to become more apparent from small little bits to actually [SPEAKER_00]: But he's not alone, luckily for the people there. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's set sort of on like this.

[SPEAKER_01]: There's a reason why this guy gets so psyched up right away. [SPEAKER_01]: You got to tell us our bias call, who is I'm destined to be a great leader and do all these things. [SPEAKER_01]: And he's currently sitting in this position as [SPEAKER_01]: random political post ghost and here in highest, how hilarious.

[SPEAKER_01]: He eats everything about this. [SPEAKER_00]: He's a huge dish, but highest cowl, it's that standard trope of he, I am the, in his opinion, the world's greatest, the galaxies, greatest commander. [SPEAKER_00]: And I have been set on desk duty on some back word of planet. [SPEAKER_00]: And I just need a way to get back into the crusade.

[SPEAKER_01]: And as soon as Sandra does nothing, he's like, now's my chance to shine and says, I've got authority on taking control of the defenses. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: And Pius, because he is a commissar, he'll do this takes complete control of the armored division and leads a charge out of the gates and rushes out to go meet the attacking pharaohzoicons.

[SPEAKER_00]: Because his plan is [SPEAKER_00]: The ferris oil can is a smaller hive than ferron hive. [SPEAKER_00]: The ferron hive is they defeat them 90 years earlier. [SPEAKER_00]: The ferron hive military is about half a million in strength. [SPEAKER_00]: So we're going to go out there. [SPEAKER_00]: Whatever these ferris oil can serve up to, we're going to wash out there with our military.

[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to clap them in the mouth and we're going to just let the embryo end this thing right now. [SPEAKER_00]: He rushed up the gate to people of their own hive or cheering because they're seeing their military rush out there to go defeat their old Enemy or really not so much enemy.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's more like a sporting enemy like you know same way. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think Dallas Cowboys like yeah, I get them but you know whatever type set up And Commissar Pius is out there. [SPEAKER_00]: He's rolling in his tank. [SPEAKER_00]: He's getting closer and he notices something kind of odd the closer he gets the enemy line They don't change formation [SPEAKER_00]: Like at all, he's charging in an attack formation and they're just spread wide, and they don't move.

[SPEAKER_00]: They stay wide. [SPEAKER_00]: He gets closer, and they stay wide, and he discovers why pretty quick. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's because he's with, you know, his armor formation, and he gets closer and [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he assumed he was attacking tens of thousands of troops, and he was charging in with his armor to go defeat them.

[SPEAKER_00]: Instead, he was charging into millions of troops that also had armor that had. [SPEAKER_00]: Then had artillery. [SPEAKER_01]: Start the engine, start the engine. [SPEAKER_00]: He, him and his tank brigade get wrecked because he's effectively, it's like charging in like Gettysburg or Revolutionary War style.

[SPEAKER_00]: He's charging into just a field of fire. [SPEAKER_00]: And [SPEAKER_00]: I will have to caveat this a little bit, Pius is a commissar, commissars do not flee in fear. [SPEAKER_00]: So what happens next is not Pius running away because he's a coward, he is not. [SPEAKER_00]: Pius gets there and discovers that they are about to be attacked by millions of attackers.

[SPEAKER_00]: and hit the high, he just left assumed it was tens of thousands. [SPEAKER_00]: So they're off by, you know, a couple zeros. [SPEAKER_00]: So he turns around and rushes back. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So he rushes back to hit the high, to go tell them. [SPEAKER_00]: So he's not a, I ran away in fear.

[SPEAKER_00]: It is a, oh crap, they don't know what's coming. [SPEAKER_00]: So he rushes back in a fall. [SPEAKER_01]: Also tells them all, as soon as your tanks are inside the walls, shut the gates. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: But I mean, there's a crap ton of people outside of the high, [SPEAKER_00]: We should mention that real quick.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the hives, the way they're built, is you've got a wall, very tall, very strong wall. [SPEAKER_00]: Things can't shoot through. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's not necessarily the edge of where people live. [SPEAKER_00]: And a bunch that live on the other side of the wall, [SPEAKER_00]: And Pious, as he's coming up with his tanks, sees all these people who are also like, oh, we should get out of here and want to get back through said open gate and decides that these people don't really have a lot of strategic value and tells his tanks to hurry up and then [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, do the dick, but by the way, fun story, now he does get the title that people's hero because he went out and fought and came back and told him the truth.

[SPEAKER_00]: But by the people on the inside of the wall, the ones on the outside of the wall probably wouldn't have called him that, but they're all dead. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, that's how the people's share is out there. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the people on the outside of the wall would have had a different opinion of his name, but he did technically save the hive because if he hadn't done what he did, there was a million savings to get.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: So Pius gets back within the gate. [SPEAKER_00]: The void shield is now activated and the bombardment has begun. [SPEAKER_00]: But it's not going to be problem. [SPEAKER_00]: There's millions of attackers on the outside. [SPEAKER_00]: about half a million on the inside.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's not a good situation, so what do they do? [SPEAKER_00]: So they send out a request for eight. [SPEAKER_00]: They're in Hive says, hey, we're under attack. [SPEAKER_00]: We don't know what to do, and someone help us. [SPEAKER_00]: And they do two message group. [SPEAKER_00]: One goes that to the other hides in the planet.

[SPEAKER_00]: And Yannick is one of them, and Northern Collective. [SPEAKER_00]: And more than them, in a second, other one goes to the crusade itself. [SPEAKER_00]: Say, hey, we need some help here. [SPEAKER_00]: They get very lucky here because no one on Verenheif by the way knows this is a chaos attack.

[SPEAKER_00]: They just think this is another is a civil war. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they find out pretty quickly here. [SPEAKER_01]: They say, yeah, it's not much of a surprise once all the shit goes down. [SPEAKER_00]: They're gonna learn it's very quick. [SPEAKER_00]: So Macaroth happens to have troops moving through the region anyway.

[SPEAKER_00]: He gets the report and Macaroth knows that a hive planet, like Vergast, going into full civil war, in the middle of his crusade idea. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so he needs those supplies. [SPEAKER_00]: So he diverts a small portion of his forces to plan it to basically figure out, you know, figures out.

[SPEAKER_00]: And you guys can guess who it is, the Tath, but not just the Tath. [SPEAKER_00]: It's also any armor and the overall rock and yeah, general sternness, of course, there. [SPEAKER_00]: Upon making planet fall, though, everything gets a lot worse. [SPEAKER_00]: So high master's son-d'ar is all but useless.

[SPEAKER_00]: The biggest problem I should mention is when they're sent there, Matt Grottis sends them there, but with no directive of authority. [SPEAKER_00]: So, Sturm arrives, everyone arrives. [SPEAKER_00]: As soon as they get there, they run into a couple big issues. [SPEAKER_01]: And I get my cheating together for this one.

[SPEAKER_01]: The politicians start politics doing politicians shit to start with. [SPEAKER_01]: You're like, Yeah, you know that you're basically going to make it so people die right now with what you're doing. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, Brad, Brad's going to have a lot of lords of terrible moments during this, but the things happen.

[SPEAKER_01]: Go annoying. [SPEAKER_01]: It goes on for multiple chapters of this where these guys are like you got to tell me that I'm awesome We're I won't let you save my life. [SPEAKER_01]: You're like what is even happening here right now, man Like what is wrong with you? [SPEAKER_01]: You're a pretty pretty princess now.

[SPEAKER_01]: Can I go ahead and save your life? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, now can we actually do military actions? [SPEAKER_00]: Fine, I'll let you fire the guns at the end of me. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, my God, this is so annoying. [SPEAKER_00]: But when they get there, gone and actually to his credit, sermon them all, then realized pretty quickly, this is chaos because the size of the pharaohs are going to force is just too large.

[SPEAKER_00]: There is no way an entire hive would empty and join a war, unless there was chaos. [SPEAKER_01]: And pharaohs are going to be, you have full-on people. [SPEAKER_01]: And they're also super psyched up to run and die. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm just a part just in the generator. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, this is a genocide.

[SPEAKER_00]: This is they are there to commit genocide. [SPEAKER_00]: And that means they are generally. [SPEAKER_00]: It's also, you know, obviously, pharaohzoicans have been this way for a while and they've producing the well thing, but engines of war. [SPEAKER_01]: One thing we should go in this, they talk about it in the book is, the first seconds have been, [SPEAKER_01]: dark on communications with the other hive.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, for a little while now because all they're doing is making engines of war and nothing else and they weren't doing any of the things they were supposed to do and they haven't been communicating with the other eyes. [SPEAKER_00]: So they've been making lasgons, armor, siege engines, and then more stuff will cover and the next episode, really creepy cool stuff.

[SPEAKER_00]: So, gauntleters know, this is not a regional conflict. [SPEAKER_00]: This is actually, we are at now a new and emerging front within the sub-ocressates. [SPEAKER_00]: Then part two happens, in part two happens because Hyde Yannick did not get their voice showed up in time. [SPEAKER_00]: And they took a bunch of nuclear weapons to the dome.

[SPEAKER_00]: So one of the number one allies of Verranhive no longer exists. [SPEAKER_00]: They just got into the building and the Northern Collective also they're small they can't do anything. [SPEAKER_00]: So it is now Verranhive against the pharaohzoicans and their imperial reinforcements against a massive [SPEAKER_00]: chaos force.

[SPEAKER_00]: And to make things even better, as Brad was just alluding to, we don't know who's in charge because we've got Sondar, who's technically running the hive. [SPEAKER_00]: So the Pete, the largest force available, is a planetary defense force who report to the Imperial Governor will call him, which is Sondar.

[SPEAKER_00]: Then we've got the Volpeen who report to Stern. [SPEAKER_00]: the tanneth report to gaunt. [SPEAKER_00]: Then you've got the armor who reported I've got the guys name. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a mess. [SPEAKER_00]: So they're all sitting there trying to figure out how to do this. [SPEAKER_01]: All of the guys from Varun Hive are like the diet coke of the lords of terror.

[SPEAKER_01]: They suck so much. [SPEAKER_00]: They just say less power. [SPEAKER_01]: They're just trash fires. [SPEAKER_01]: I get so mad at this part of the book, because you're just like, why are you so terrible? [SPEAKER_01]: I'm willing to die unless you give me a gold star and say that I'm in charge.

[SPEAKER_01]: What is happening right now? [SPEAKER_01]: You will die. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's a pretty good foreshadow for why we're going to break here in the next week. [SPEAKER_00]: So next week, we're going to listen to Brad lose his freaking mind. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I fast right now when we're not yet doing.

[SPEAKER_00]: I think like the way I rank out the Gonsco's books. [SPEAKER_00]: I think the very first book with the Mediviron Reveal is one of the coolest reveals. [SPEAKER_00]: The second book I think had one of the worst reveals, but had had some of the best kind of back stories with one of the last ones.

[SPEAKER_00]: This book I think is the best top-to-bottom story. [SPEAKER_00]: I think this tells the story that and so that's why I'm so excited about it. [SPEAKER_01]: You know if you're at least no who gants if you knew anything about gants Ghost you can just go into this book. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and this whole story is awesome It's a really cool.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's like a mini-sege of racks all over again, and I just really love the way the story progresses and the kind of the out I hate the guys go like the political intrigue is real and strong Yeah, it's just irritating because the guy sucks so much [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but it also does. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a real big springboard for the later parts of some of the other stuff that you say.

[SPEAKER_00]: So with that John Barsotti, Brad Chester, this guy, see you guys next week. [UNKNOWN]: Thank you.
