Did you know that over 700 million people are using ChatGPT weekly, but most of them aren't using it for work? Welcome to the Anthropic AI Daily Brief, your go-to for the latest AI updates. Today is Monday, September 15, 2025. Here’s what you need to know about how people are actually using ChatGPT and Claude.

Let’s dive in.

Imagine this you're one of the millions of people around the world using ChatGPT to help

with everyday tasks. According to fresh reports from OpenAI, while ChatGPT is seeing a surge in users, it's mostly for personal use rather than professional tasks. In fact, personal use has jumped from 53 percent in June 2024 to a staggering 73 percent by June 2025. That's a big shift! So, what are people using ChatGPT for?

The data shows that practical help, information search, and writing are the big categories. Interestingly, people are turning to ChatGPT more for advice and information rather than writing or technical support. It's being used less like a writer and more like a thinking partner, helping users make decisions and find information.

Now, let’s talk about Claude, Anthropic's AI assistant. Claude is making waves in education, science, and coding. People are increasingly using it to delegate entire tasks, like building new programs. This shift is reshaping how Claude is used, especially in wealthier countries where it's often used as a collaborator or learning assistant.

Anthropic’s data also highlights some interesting geographical trends. For instance, places like Israel, Singapore, and Australia are leading in Claude adoption, thanks to their tech-forward economies. Meanwhile, in the United States, areas like Washington, DC, and Utah are seeing higher-than-average usage of Claude.

It seems like where you are can really influence how you use these AI tools. When it comes to businesses, Claude is mostly about automation. Companies are using it to handle complete tasks, especially in software development and technical problem-solving. What's fascinating is that price isn't the main concern; rather, it's about how smoothly Claude can integrate into existing workflows and deliver clear business value.

Overall, these reports from OpenAI and Anthropic paint a picture of two distinct but complementary roles for AI. ChatGPT is becoming a go-to tool for personal advice and information, while Claude is carving out a niche in education, science, and enterprise automation. It's a fascinating time to see how these technologies are evolving and shaping our world.

Now, let's talk about something that's been buzzing around the tech world: businesses are driving artificial intelligence automation at an unprecedented pace. According to a new Economic Index report by Anthropic, businesses are leaning heavily on artificial intelligence for automation rather than fostering collaboration between employees and teams.

This is a big shift in how artificial intelligence is being used! The report highlights that around seventy-seven percent of interactions made through Anthropic's application programming interface involve automated tasks. That's a lot! In contrast, when we look at Claude.ai, the consumer-facing website, only about half of the activity is fully automated.

So, businesses are clearly focusing on using artificial intelligence to handle tasks independently. Most of the application programming interface's activity revolves around practical work areas. For example, forty-four percent of its traffic relates to coding and mathematical tasks, compared to thirty-six percent among consumer users.

Businesses aren't really using Claude for teaching, learning, or creative tasks like writing stories or making art. Those activities only account for four to five percent of their usage. Interestingly, individual users are turning to Claude more for education and the arts—twelve percent for education and eight percent for arts.

It seems people are embracing artificial intelligence for creative pursuits and learning projects much more than businesses are. This paints a picture of businesses seeing artificial intelligence primarily as a tool to boost productivity rather than a learning or creative companion. As businesses automate more work, the report suggests there could be significant economic implications.

This raises questions about the future of work and job market trends. Will automation lead to more efficiency and productivity, or will it disrupt job markets? It's a topic that's sparking a lot of debate. That's it for today’s Anthropic AI Daily Brief. Businesses are increasingly driving artificial intelligence automation, which is shaping the future of work and raising important questions about economic and job market trends.
