Caitlin.
Yes, Jamie?
It's been 84... Sorry, let me check my notes. It's actually only been 10 years. But I can still smell the fresh podcast. The microphones had never been used. The SD cards had never been slept in.
The Bechtelcast was called the podcast of dreams.
And it was.
It really was.
Let's go on tour about it.
Let's do it. That's right, Bechtelcast listeners. We are doing a 10-year, whoops, we didn't dismantle the patriarchy, anniversary tour.
We're so, so, so excited. To me, it makes all the sense in the world and no sense at all that this show has been on for 10 years. What a time. We've lived, we've laughed, we've learned. And as our tour title indicates... We did not kill the patriarchy as was the original goal, but we didn't give ourselves a deadline, right? No. And if you look at sort of the bend of history in the last 10 years, we're not doing great. But listen, we're going to have a fun show. The Bechdel cast is celebrating 10 years and throughout the next year are, what is it? Whatever the 10 years version of Centennial is. We will be traveling around the U.S. and perhaps even Canada doing a big celebratory 10-year show that reflects on your favorite moments
in the show, that reflects on our favorite movies and a lot of movies of the last 10 years. It'll be a big, fun show. And we've got some dates coming up. Our first leg is during Halloween time.
It sure is. And it is in the Northeast.
Ever heard of it?
Ever heard of it?
We're both from there, and yet we have not toured the Bechdelcast there since 2019 slash the very beginning of 2020 when you do that.
Exactly. So we are so excited to make our grand return to the following cities. New York, we're performing at the Bell House on October 12th.
Hell yeah.
Baltimore at Creative Alliance on October 15th. Philadelphia at Philomoka on October 17th. State College, Pennsylvania at Manny's on October 18th. Pittsburgh at Bottle Rocket on October 19th. We've got a whole Pennsylvania stretch. And then finally, Boston at the Brattle Theater on October 21st.
I am so, so, so excited. These are all cities that either we've never toured to before or we haven't been to in over half a decade. Here's what you could expect. We are doing kind of our favorite parts of live touring because we've also been touring the show for basically the whole time it's been on. So we're going to be doing creepy fan fiction. Great selling point.
We're going to be doing fanfic. We're going to be doing the iconic game feminist icon, queer icon, or both. Or neither. Or neither. We're going to be, I'm putting together a presentation as an ode to the dead wife. Caitlin.
I'm doing edited video compilation, super cut, whatever you want to call it.
We're also going to talk about one of my favorite niche interests at the moment, which is Post Me Too Cinema about women directed by men that completely misses the point. There's been so much that's happened in the last 10 years. And it's a big, fun variety show. There will be wardrobe changes. There will be exclusive merch, especially for our 10-year tour. If you've ever come to a Bechtelcast show before, you know... We are our own merch peoples. You can come hang, take a pic, grab a button, grab a poster. Also, for those of you who have perhaps pre-ordered my book, there will be a free treat for you at the merch table as well. So there's just truly no excuse not to attend.
That's right.
That's what I'll say. If you live in these cities or nearby, and if you don't live in those cities or nearby, we will be coming to your area at some point.
At some point in the next year. So stay tuned.
So vaguely mark your calendars.
But in the meantime, if you do live near any of those cities we listed, tickets are on sale. You can grab them at linktree.com. And if you're a matron, you get a discount with a promo code that we shared on our matron. So if you're not already a matron, now's a good time to sign up and get access to that little discount. Exactly.
And also matrons get a free button at the merch table afterwards. We love our matrons. They've truly been keeping the show going. Alive for nearly a decade now.
Afloat, unlike the Titanic couldn't stay afloat.
That's true. We really were setting it up for a podcast that exists for three days and then dies a horrific death. Not us. Not the flags.
Not us. We avoided the iceberg.
We have avoided near death so many times on this show. But yes, we are so excited to celebrate with you, especially on this leg of the tour because it's so close to Halloween. We will remind you of this. But dress up as your favorite movie character. It's a big, fun celebration. We will be dressed up. and we can't wait to see you. So we didn't dismantle the patriarchy, but we will have a really fun night in these six cities.
We absolutely will. Once again, tickets can be bought at Linktree slash Bechtelcast. All of the ticket links to all of those shows are there. So buy them, please. And if the tour sells out, I'm going to get a Shrek tattoo. Oh, yes.
I feel like we really have been giving this short shrift. I would get, I guess, where can I meet you? I'd get a Minions tat.
You'd get a Minions tat? Yeah. Yes.
Okay. Okay. We're literally putting our bodies on the line.
So you have to come and buy tickets and make sure these shows sell out. Please.
I'll get a Minions tram stamp. I'm not scared. I'm not scared.
Holy shit.
I'll design it myself. Oh, and I'm getting excited. I'm excited. And okay.
Okay.
So look, if you ever, is this, do you want this?
Is this what you want?
Let's find out.
Let's find out.
And we will see you at the show. All of the links are in the description.
Of this episode.
And remember that, yes, we will keep reminding you about it. But if you are a matron, make sure to head over to the matron and get your discount code. You deserve it.
You sure do. Bye. See you there.
