#444 - Joby Martin // Unity In Christ

We open Philippians 2 and let Paul’s words confront our tendency to divide when Jesus calls us to be one. We connect gospel-centered unity to God’s love, the work of the Holy Spirit, and a clear line between primary doctrine and personal preference.
• reading Philippians 2 and setting the context through repetition
• Paul’s call to unity for every Christian, not just leaders
• linking Philippians 2 unity to Jesus’ prayer in John 17
• wrestling with the idea that God loves us as He loves Jesus
• clarifying unity versus uniformity in the church
• unifying on primary issues like Christ, Scripture, and the gospel
• giving latitude on secondary issues like music and baptism practices
• a gut-check question on where we divide over preferences
