[SPEAKER_00]: Hello everyone, and welcome to the Delta Flyers journey through the wormhole with cork, dax, and their good friends, Tom and Harry. [SPEAKER_00]: Join us as we make our way through episodes of Star Trek Deep Space 9. [SPEAKER_01]: Your host for today are my fellow Trek actors, Terry Farrell, Robert Duncan McNeill, and our very very special guest, Michael Dorne, and myself, Garrett Wong.

[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, Michael, welcome. [SPEAKER_00]: He's here for me. [SPEAKER_00]: Don't eat. [SPEAKER_00]: Hello guys, I'm Yola Kansom is ever. [SPEAKER_03]: Thank you very much. [SPEAKER_03]: I'm trying. [SPEAKER_02]: You do more and more. [SPEAKER_02]: You see some of it for you. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, you're Benjamin Buttoning it to us, though.

[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_02]: Thank you, Mr. Hansom. [SPEAKER_02]: You scored a mailman. [SPEAKER_03]: Are you getting smarter, sir? [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, I am. [SPEAKER_03]: I am sure I've got that. [SPEAKER_03]: I'll be coming in adult, actually. [SPEAKER_00]: It's just fun. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's pretty wild because the more you know the more you know the less you know.

[SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: There's no more you know you didn't know and you thought, wow, I thought I had my finger on it so far off the mark. [SPEAKER_02]: Yep. [SPEAKER_02]: We're excited that you're here. [SPEAKER_02]: Again with us, we did your your introduction into the face nine. [SPEAKER_02]: We talked about that a while back.

[SPEAKER_02]: So it's great to have you back to join us for this episode. [SPEAKER_02]: And I've got some hearts behind me for this episode. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm going with that. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm so mad, it's, you know, Valentine's Day, but there's a love theme going on. [SPEAKER_01]: We see this. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, Michael Daxon wore for a ticket there.

[SPEAKER_01]: What? [SPEAKER_01]: For sure. [SPEAKER_00]: For sure. [SPEAKER_01]: I would be remiss not to ask Michael to tell us a little bit about the project he directed recently. [SPEAKER_01]: Just give us a little break. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we're very excited to hear this. [SPEAKER_03]: I'll give you the readers digest version a couple of years ago.

[SPEAKER_03]: I had written a Western. [SPEAKER_03]: And it had made the rounds and people liked it well enough, but as we all know, you know, they, you know, it's a very hard sell to do a movie. [SPEAKER_03]: And so I had saw a documentary about the first Matrix movie and how the directors, the West House, he sisters came up with this idea and they loved it and they said, but you haven't done anything, you know, we can't give you 50 million dollars.

[SPEAKER_03]: And so they went off and did a small movie. [SPEAKER_03]: And Gina Gershon and I think Jennifer Tilley and just a little small, you know, wasn't and they did it. [SPEAKER_03]: uh... finished it and sent it back to the guy said okay great we see you can do that so they gave them the opportunity and so that's what i started to do was say you know to do and there's so many outlets to do small movies like in a bit of days i mean it doesn't cost a lot and so i said well what would be an easy genre and i go well science fiction and i've always loved science fiction from the sixties and and you know when it wasn't mainstream [SPEAKER_03]: And so I decided to do like a little homage to the outer limits and Twilight Zone, and I had just recently worked with Michelle heard, and of course, Marianne is my good friend, and so I asked them what they would be involved.

[SPEAKER_03]: And it's a three person thing, three person show. [SPEAKER_03]: And we just got a agent that's going to start marketing it to distributors and it turned out really well. [SPEAKER_03]: It turned out really well, very happy without turned out and got everybody behind the camera just came together.

[SPEAKER_03]: They all love the genre and they all love Star Trek. [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, the really rough cut, the, the, the editor, and I went, I think we have a movie here. [SPEAKER_03]: What's the name of it? [SPEAKER_02]: What's the name of this all? [SPEAKER_02]: Life 2.0. [SPEAKER_02]: Life 2.0.

[SPEAKER_00]: Can you tell us anything else about what it's about? [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, sure. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: It's about AI. [SPEAKER_03]: But it's another take on AI, because at most AI movies that we see is AI taken over the world, and we're fighting, and they're killing, and so I decided to take where AI just goes.

[SPEAKER_03]: You human beings are out of your mind. [SPEAKER_03]: You understand nothing, you don't get history, you don't see where this is going. [SPEAKER_03]: And so they basically stop engaging. [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, that was wonderful. [SPEAKER_03]: To help with airplanes and hospitals and all the things that are life-threatening.

[SPEAKER_03]: We do not, AI does not do war. [SPEAKER_03]: And while, and in the process, they evolve to a place that even they weren't aware or they weren't out, they were surprised with how AI evolved. [SPEAKER_02]: And that's interesting. [SPEAKER_02]: I love that it's kind of a positive, yeah, it's positive.

[SPEAKER_03]: But it has a terrible part to it. [SPEAKER_00]: So you did say Twilight Zone and outer limits. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So is it twist? [SPEAKER_03]: But the one thing I can't say, I don't want to say any more, isn't I really why everybody took kind of kind of go into it. [SPEAKER_03]: It is very important that they go into it, fresh without knowing what's expected.

[SPEAKER_03]: I see that Marina and Michelle were just spectacular. [SPEAKER_03]: And I'll tell you a quick story I was doing in the editing. [SPEAKER_03]: The one of the last scenes was Michelle. [SPEAKER_03]: She's doing it. [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, it was just great and we're editing. [SPEAKER_03]: And I said, you know, that's seen.

[SPEAKER_03]: I just feel a need, maybe I have to cut it a little bit. [SPEAKER_03]: You know, not cut her performance, but cut down, you know, as much of because it kind of goes long. [SPEAKER_03]: And he's, you know, I think you're right, but let's watch it one more time. [SPEAKER_03]: And so we watched it one more time, and we went, not a leave it alone.

[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, she's so good. [SPEAKER_02]: She's so good. [SPEAKER_03]: All three of you were so good in a great combo. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it was spectacular. [SPEAKER_02]: It was spectacular. [SPEAKER_02]: I was very happy. [SPEAKER_02]: I heard from Franks that you had a screening that he went to, and he said it was phenomenal.

[SPEAKER_02]: He loved it. [SPEAKER_03]: It was really good about your work. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, they did a, they did a, of everybody was really, really good. [SPEAKER_03]: And then we had another screening in London, which was really different. [SPEAKER_03]: And it was cast and crew and a couple of the buyers.

[SPEAKER_03]: And everybody was very complimentary about it. [SPEAKER_03]: So it's great. [SPEAKER_03]: I'm just happy with I can't wait for it to get out there. [SPEAKER_03]: People are going to be so excited to see your work. [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, yes. [SPEAKER_03]: the other part of this was I just wanted to show the business that, you know, we're kind of look, we're kind of looked on the Star Trek world like the, you know, the unwanted stepchild, you know, make them billions of dollars, but we're not really television.

[SPEAKER_03]: We're not really [SPEAKER_00]: We're not really actors. [SPEAKER_00]: We're not really actors. [SPEAKER_03]: They're on a kid's shelf. [SPEAKER_03]: That's where it is. [SPEAKER_03]: Saturday morning children's kid's show. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: That's actually a year.

[SPEAKER_03]: But it turned out really well. [SPEAKER_03]: And even if nothing happens, I'm really happy with the way it turned out, really happy. [SPEAKER_00]: And hopefully, as you were giving the example earlier, hopefully that gives you some cred when you're looking for supporters for your Western script.

[SPEAKER_00]: Western, you know, going back to that. [SPEAKER_02]: That's what it is. [SPEAKER_03]: It's something. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm so proud of you also for just making something like doing it yourself, honestly. [SPEAKER_02]: That is, who does to you for doing that? [SPEAKER_03]: You know, when you're, when you're, when you're directing television or you're directing somebody else's movie or you're, you're, you're, you're, you're being told what to do.

[SPEAKER_02]: You're just a cog in the machine. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, even if you don't agree with it, even if you're like, and you don't agree with it, you still got to do it. [SPEAKER_03]: You don't know what they want. [SPEAKER_00]: But you wrote this, you starred in it, and you directed it. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, well.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm proud of you. [SPEAKER_00]: My pride. [SPEAKER_03]: We're so excited for you. [SPEAKER_03]: I appreciate it. [SPEAKER_03]: I appreciate what we talk about it too. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, let us talk about birthdays now. [SPEAKER_01]: We have one birthday. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm pretty sure this is not the name on their birth certificate and probably a screen name.

[SPEAKER_01]: But I would like to say, October 14th is a wonderful day because that is the birthday for Slack twaddle. [SPEAKER_01]: Happy birthday, Slack twaddle. [SPEAKER_01]: Happy birthday, Slack twaddle. [SPEAKER_00]: I think you just made this name to see if we would say it. [SPEAKER_00]: It would be birthday slackable.

[SPEAKER_02]: Happy slack twottle slack twottle. [SPEAKER_02]: I love your name. [SPEAKER_02]: I agree with the Terry. [SPEAKER_02]: I think you're just hanging up to see if we would say it. [SPEAKER_02]: And we did it. [SPEAKER_02]: I'll tell you one more time. [SPEAKER_02]: Slack twottle. [SPEAKER_00]: Slack twottle.

[SPEAKER_01]: Say that 10 times. [SPEAKER_01]: That's what it's like. [SPEAKER_01]: Slank twottle says what I can't even do it. [SPEAKER_01]: No, okay. [SPEAKER_02]: Happy birthday. [SPEAKER_01]: It is time for our poetry synopsis of this episode starting off with Robby's poetry and then tear fair and then myself.

[SPEAKER_02]: Michael, we do a little poetry synopsis of the episode. [SPEAKER_02]: I do a limerc form and this is my limerc for the episode, Change of Heart. [SPEAKER_02]: There once were two lovers in space on a mission in a really jungley place. [SPEAKER_02]: Worf chose Jadzi as life and returned with his wife, the most romcom episode in the Deep Space Database.

[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I flew in from Iowa yesterday, had to get food, the dog, Lala, saw the show, watched it again first thing this morning. [SPEAKER_00]: And on my way to art class, which I was not going to miss. [SPEAKER_00]: I wrote this and it needs work, but this is what popped out of my head. [SPEAKER_00]: So please forgive me, that I, this is just the first thing I wrote down.

[SPEAKER_00]: I can't wait to tell it should be like, Mike, no, we let it out. [SPEAKER_03]: No, no, no, Terry, Terry, just just, just ghost, just go, yes. [SPEAKER_00]: Go, Daxon Warf are on a journey divine, creating a love that surpasses all time. [SPEAKER_00]: The jungle is rough, but our heroes are tough until injury takes Dax down.

[SPEAKER_00]: Warf's heart and Dax' abound. [SPEAKER_00]: He makes a choice to save his bride. [SPEAKER_00]: He can weather whatever the tide. [SPEAKER_00]: That's beautiful. [SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be a run-to-show. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you should know that he's going to support you no matter what.

[SPEAKER_01]: And that was a great one. [SPEAKER_00]: I know that. [SPEAKER_00]: That I do know. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Fabulous. [SPEAKER_01]: All right. [SPEAKER_01]: Here's my high coup for change of heart. [SPEAKER_01]: Dax and Warf Mission, rendezvous with Lazaren, family comes first.

[SPEAKER_02]: That's a little art, that's our creativity for this episode. [SPEAKER_02]: It is. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: It is very good. [SPEAKER_00]: And now we get the fans a chance. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: The fans give it a shot. [SPEAKER_01]: Our Patreon submitted poetry winner is a rhyming narrative verse submitted by Jason Oken.

[SPEAKER_01]: And it goes something like this. [SPEAKER_01]: A change of heart is all it takes to set aside what duty planned, as love steps in to raise the stakes and make a choice the rules be damned. [SPEAKER_01]: When honor and devotion call and sacrifice demands a stand, at love's own feet the mission falls, a truth that few would understand.

[SPEAKER_01]: Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, [SPEAKER_00]: Ateron submitted poetry honorable mention, Hikus submitted by Steph Davies.

[SPEAKER_00]: For the love of Dax, Warf sacrifices career, quirk unbeatable. [SPEAKER_00]: Nice. [SPEAKER_02]: She got the B-story line and got the B-story line and got the B-story line and got the B-story line and got the B-story line and got the B-story line and got the B-story line and got the B-story line and got the B-story line and got the B-story line and got the B-story line and got the B-story line and got the B-story line and got the B-story line and got the B-story line and got the B-story line and got the B-story line and [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it used to just be Garrett and I do have little, I have little attempts in now.

[SPEAKER_02]: Terry's brought her beautiful creativity. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, you're so kind. [SPEAKER_00]: No, they were very kind to me. [SPEAKER_00]: They said, I didn't have to do it. [SPEAKER_00]: And I did it. [SPEAKER_00]: And then I got nervous, like writer's block nervous. [SPEAKER_00]: And then they gave me space not to do it.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then suddenly, I felt inspired to do it again. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, growing up stuff really is an amazing thing that gives you [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and it's been great. [SPEAKER_01]: Tear fairs come up with some amazing poetry. [SPEAKER_01]: I'll say that much. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just going to have loving friends support you. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I wouldn't push you when you didn't want to do it. [SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: We backed off and you came right back in full power. [SPEAKER_01]: So thank you for that. [SPEAKER_01]: a little bit about the facts here.

[SPEAKER_01]: This episode is written by Ronald D. Moore, directed by David Livingston. [SPEAKER_01]: We have a guest star, and that's Lazaran, Lazaran, Todd Waring, plays Lazaran, and a little bit of trivia. [SPEAKER_01]: This was the 500th episode of Star Trek to air. [SPEAKER_01]: including all the different incarnations of trucks.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I've under it. [SPEAKER_01]: This is number five. [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't know that. [SPEAKER_02]: Did there do anything special? [SPEAKER_02]: Do you remember Michael? [SPEAKER_00]: No, it was the Christmas episode. [SPEAKER_00]: We did it right before Christmas break. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, okay.

[SPEAKER_00]: So everybody else was super happy that we were on stage and they were getting ready for Christmas. [SPEAKER_01]: They got extra time to to handle family stuff. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh my goodness, you're right. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, well, here's another bit of trivia. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if you know this or not.

[SPEAKER_01]: Terrifier, the B story for this episode originally involved Rom, Nog, and Prinadora, Nog's mother, and Rom's ex-wife. [SPEAKER_01]: The plot involved Prinadora arriving on the station and claiming that she has come to reconcile with Rom and get to know Nog. [SPEAKER_01]: But it turns out she's actually there to hood-wink Rom all over again.

[SPEAKER_01]: Mac's credential, Aaron Eisenberg, Chase Masterson, and Lida Fajjo have performed the unfilm to be plot at conventions. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, that's funny. [SPEAKER_01]: Which makes no clue. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, did not know that. [SPEAKER_01]: Never saw it. [SPEAKER_01]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_01]: another bit of trivia.

[SPEAKER_01]: The jungle of Sikara was created by the Green's Department on stage five of the Paramount Lot because there were so many walking shots. [SPEAKER_01]: The jungle was built as a large circle so that the actors and crew didn't have to keep stopping and switching sides every time they reached the end.

[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, they weren't there, there was no end. [SPEAKER_01]: Just one big circle. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: I remember that. [SPEAKER_03]: Do you remember the jungle, you guys? [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, yeah, it was cool. [SPEAKER_03]: It was, I do one bit of trivia. [SPEAKER_03]: They wanted it to look human and wet and reliant.

[SPEAKER_03]: That's what they kept, they kept wetting everything. [SPEAKER_03]: And there was an offer got, which seen it was. [SPEAKER_03]: Terry wasn't in the same, but there was one scene. [SPEAKER_03]: I think where I was just, [SPEAKER_03]: and I slipped. [SPEAKER_03]: And when I fall, I fall serious.

[SPEAKER_03]: And I slipped and hit the ground and I just went, maybe I came out with that as good. [SPEAKER_03]: Do you have another one in you? [SPEAKER_03]: And I was, no, for you. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, you should really hurt. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: no, right.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, working on wet in wet environments is very dangerous. [SPEAKER_03]: And it was really yeah, it was it was it was trying for for for Terri and I it was it really was trying because it was [SPEAKER_02]: it looked like it. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: It was very impressive.

[SPEAKER_02]: The work, the Green's Department work was very impressive. [SPEAKER_02]: And I think you don't even have like a waterfall at some point. [SPEAKER_02]: I felt like there was. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: There was a mist machine that I had for a while. [SPEAKER_00]: It was maybe they added that sound.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I remember hearing a sound of like water falling. [SPEAKER_02]: I didn't know if they actually did it or not, but that's, yeah, it felt it seemed very wet. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, jungle. [SPEAKER_01]: One more bit of trivia, and that would be this episode contains the only reference to Worf's adopted brother, Nikolai Regenko, since his appearance in TNG, the episode Homeward.

[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it took a relationship between Dax and Warf, you know, to kind of bring that stuff out, you know, where it was a moment where they had where they were talking serious. [SPEAKER_03]: I love the idea that [SPEAKER_03]: you know that they get together and they start talking about deep stuff that they don't talk about and I think that was a good that was a good move on their part.

[SPEAKER_02]: It was a great move. [SPEAKER_02]: It was deep stuff and it was also a lot of comedy. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean you guys your comedy tropps in this episode are on point. [SPEAKER_02]: So good. [SPEAKER_00]: yeah really as good or better than any rom com film that you can remember the last two decades probably so yeah I let all the layers yeah we had us in love we had us ticked off at each other it just was a very real slice of life in there [SPEAKER_00]: a couple that you want to be them.

[SPEAKER_00]: You want to be how close they are how much they trust each other. [SPEAKER_03]: I love it because Dax is always joking and he just has a straight face. [SPEAKER_03]: He just and she knows that he gets it and that he enjoys it but his face is like nothing. [SPEAKER_00]: He's like you smiled more in this one than any episode I remember.

[SPEAKER_02]: And you've got dialogue about that. [SPEAKER_02]: Like the smile is really meaningful to DAX, you know, we have problems is a little small. [SPEAKER_02]: On a different scale. [SPEAKER_02]: On a different scale. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but the first few times I saw it, when we were working together in season four, when we first started working together.

[SPEAKER_00]: And Michael would smile at me and it would crack me up again. [SPEAKER_00]: Because it's interesting, it's all the time. [SPEAKER_00]: And then it became a testing lab with me and it was just even more hilarious than you can imagine. [SPEAKER_01]: But we had that version as well on Voyager with Tim Russ to Valk never smiles, but off-camera he's smiling, which is so crazy for us to see that as well.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Well great. [SPEAKER_02]: Well let's dive right into this episode. [SPEAKER_02]: We start off in quarks. [SPEAKER_02]: It's after hours, quark and is staff are playing tango. [SPEAKER_02]: And Dax is playing with them. [SPEAKER_02]: I love that wraparound shot at the top day of the Living Syndead to reveal Warfno [SPEAKER_02]: And, yeah, DAX is a very serious playing tango.

[SPEAKER_02]: We cut up stairs to hear Warf and O'Brien talking about it. [SPEAKER_02]: Warf says DAX is playing a very deep game, which I love the way you sold that Michael. [SPEAKER_02]: So funny. [SPEAKER_02]: Um, and the brands like, uh, you're amazing about this game. [SPEAKER_02]: Deal. [SPEAKER_02]: You're timing on the know could not have been more perfect.

[SPEAKER_02]: So funny. [SPEAKER_00]: I laughed out loud. [SPEAKER_02]: Both times I watched the episode. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: That was a great other very cool thing. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: John's writing is so on point in this episode. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, within the Star Trek world, column never got the do I think.

[SPEAKER_03]: I think he was a wonderful actor, but he was a really good actor, and that scene, whatever they were wrote, that scene was crafted by Column and I, we were just, you know, it didn't have to do anything. [SPEAKER_03]: We were doing anything different, but we were just going off of each other and, you know, and he says, you know, you don't know anything about this, do you?

[SPEAKER_03]: And I go, [SPEAKER_03]: No, yeah, I see it all, I mean, the time was perfect. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the chemistry that you two had in the scene was perfect. [SPEAKER_02]: It was amazing. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: I also was guess I guessed the first time I watched it because I hadn't seen who directs it yet and I turned to Rebecca and I said, I bet David Livingston directed this because of all the angles and the shots like there's just something you can tell in David's taste that I immediately felt like, oh, this is David Livingston.

[SPEAKER_00]: And my point about the writing. [SPEAKER_00]: I was thinking this when I was watching it, that he gave us such great material to play with, as you were saying, the two of you were playing with the scene, and it felt like every scene felt that way. [SPEAKER_00]: That we had an opportunity to take it to, it helped us as actors to have something fun to play.

[SPEAKER_00]: But obviously, there weren't, you have to play it this way or that way. [SPEAKER_00]: It was very evident the pacing and where it was going. [SPEAKER_00]: It was, it was so good. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I will say, I did have a bit of a complaint overall. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I [SPEAKER_02]: Spoiling my final feelings about this episode I did think that the writing was a little it was so character focused that it lacked to me a bit of that sci-fi Specificity like what about this story

[SPEAKER_02]: had to be sci-fi and some of the writing to me a great Star Trek episode is when you get character and a great sci-fi idea kind of colliding and this one sort of in terms of the writing sort of lacked that sci-fi big idea but to your to your pointary I think the character work is phenomenal the character work yeah the relationship water oh my gosh yeah yeah that's great that's really [SPEAKER_02]: Well, Miles and Warf bet on who's going to win this game.

[SPEAKER_02]: We do learn in this game that the Quark has not, he's won two hundred and six straight games. [SPEAKER_02]: So he's winning nonstop, and they make a bet. [SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, Warf bets. [SPEAKER_02]: The Dax is going to win. [SPEAKER_02]: And we cut down to see the game. [SPEAKER_02]: Dax lays her hand down.

[SPEAKER_02]: She thinks she's won. [SPEAKER_02]: She talks, what does she have? [SPEAKER_02]: She lays her cards down. [SPEAKER_02]: Does she say what she has? [SPEAKER_02]: No, she doesn't. [SPEAKER_02]: I think she does. [SPEAKER_03]: I think she says she did too. [SPEAKER_00]: Her packs, you're going to get me back.

[SPEAKER_03]: We have an old consortium or something like that. [SPEAKER_02]: He has a full consortium. [SPEAKER_02]: But I don't think she says what she has here. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I didn't. [SPEAKER_02]: I laid it down, right? [SPEAKER_02]: You just laid it down before show him. [SPEAKER_00]: Dax lays down her cards.

[SPEAKER_00]: Quirk says unbelievable. [SPEAKER_02]: So it's a good hand. [SPEAKER_02]: We just don't know what you'd call it. [SPEAKER_03]: You know, I think he cut to me going, maybe some thing on term. [SPEAKER_03]: And I go, I go, I have to stop Paramaki. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, Paramaki. [SPEAKER_03]: Paramaki, Paramaki, Paramaki, Paramaki, Paramaki, [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and then they cut back, and they're.

[SPEAKER_03]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm a cookie. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they do. [SPEAKER_00]: Parmaki. [SPEAKER_01]: Is this the first time Michael that we learn that Warf likes his blood wine, a young vintage, and very sweet, or is this something common knowledge in D&G? [SPEAKER_01]: I'm a knowledge. [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, it is, okay.

[SPEAKER_03]: It is common knowledge. [SPEAKER_01]: Got it. [SPEAKER_02]: And it is produce, right? [SPEAKER_02]: No, it's blood wine. [SPEAKER_02]: It's blood went in the show. [SPEAKER_02]: That was a mess. [SPEAKER_02]: In real life, what did they give you to drink? [SPEAKER_02]: To drink? [SPEAKER_02]: Was it prune juice?

[SPEAKER_02]: No, no, no. [SPEAKER_03]: It doesn't hurt. [SPEAKER_03]: It doesn't hurt. [SPEAKER_00]: But did your character ask for prune juice from cork? [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, but that's all I was saying. [SPEAKER_03]: That was another drink. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that was another. [SPEAKER_03]: The blood wine was with some juice, something like the grape juice, grape juice, grape juice, something like the grape juice, grape juice, grape juice, grape juice, [SPEAKER_02]: Well, DAX laser hand down, where if it's gloating, he thinks he wants his blood one, young vintage, very sweet, and then we cut back down in quirk, lays his hand down, he's got a full consortium, he wins, we cut back up, and now Miles is gloating, and he wants a single

[SPEAKER_02]: preferably something from the highlands. [SPEAKER_02]: Worf's going to need a little time and Brian says credit's good, but he can't get over miles at the end of the scene. [SPEAKER_02]: He can't get over 207 stray games, cork as winning. [SPEAKER_02]: So we see it start to get to him here.

[SPEAKER_02]: Worf comes down and Dax can see immediately that Worf lost a bet. [SPEAKER_02]: She's like, oh, did you lose a bet? [SPEAKER_02]: But worth blows it off. [SPEAKER_02]: He's super smooth about it. [SPEAKER_02]: And they end up kissing. [SPEAKER_02]: It's the romance is on. [SPEAKER_02]: They kiss right away.

[SPEAKER_02]: He says, I would rather lose a bet on you than win on someone else. [SPEAKER_02]: Very smooth, Michael. [SPEAKER_03]: At war, Fatalia. [SPEAKER_03]: Well, when she take the handcuffs off, he's like, you know, he's a lover. [SPEAKER_03]: You know, not in a very, in a, in a very odd way. [SPEAKER_03]: The cool thing is that, you know, that Dax just gets it, you know, right?

[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: So there was, there was a, an episode where she says, oh, he's this and this and he has a heart of a poet, you know, and so. [SPEAKER_03]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_02]: Did you get to on TNG? [SPEAKER_02]: Did you get to play these kinds of qualities of of warf? [SPEAKER_02]: Or is this something that really came out more, this romantic side, the softer side, the poet side?

[SPEAKER_02]: Did that come out more on DS9 or was some of that in TNG as well? [SPEAKER_03]: No, that was definitely DS9. [SPEAKER_03]: It was almost like that TNG was laying the groundwork. [SPEAKER_03]: for what happened on Deep Space 9. [SPEAKER_03]: I always tell, next generation was great. [SPEAKER_03]: Great episodes, great stuff.

[SPEAKER_03]: But Deep Space 9 was an amazing transfer me to the guy. [SPEAKER_03]: Or it meant not a transformation, an amazing discovery. [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_03]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_03]: The reveal. [SPEAKER_02]: Both. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, I love that we're already into romance, uh, even though you're lost about we cut inside the, uh, work for taxes bedroom.

[SPEAKER_02]: I love your long hair in this scene, by the way. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Did you get to do that very often? [SPEAKER_02]: I don't think I've seen it on deep space nine yet. [SPEAKER_03]: Uh, you know, uh, no, uh, because uh, that started with the, with, on next generation because they had this really weird hair for years, um, I just told them I said, Lee, you know, you guys, Warf wouldn't do his hair before he was ready.

[SPEAKER_03]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_03]: And so I said he would just tie it back. [SPEAKER_03]: And so that sort of morphed once again into, there was a couple of scenes on Nick's generation where I had to down privately. [SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to bed. [SPEAKER_03]: I'm just getting up. [SPEAKER_03]: I have to hear it down just like anybody's with you.

[SPEAKER_03]: So that's how I started it. [SPEAKER_02]: I loved the look. [SPEAKER_02]: It was the first time I'd seen it on DS9, I think. [SPEAKER_02]: And I think it's a great look. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he's getting ready for bed. [SPEAKER_02]: Warf goes and prays at his altar, which I don't think we'd seen this before.

[SPEAKER_02]: And did you see that? [SPEAKER_02]: No, no. [SPEAKER_02]: No. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't see that. [SPEAKER_00]: I've seen this peek-a-boo on life how it is for them behind the scenes of what we usually see. [SPEAKER_00]: of all of us. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: And the one thing about that scene that I, I mean, it was a great scene.

[SPEAKER_03]: And, and, you know, of course, very looked pretty spectacular. [SPEAKER_00]: So very much Michael Dorn. [SPEAKER_00]: Woo. [SPEAKER_03]: But when she's talking and David moves the camera to show [SPEAKER_03]: her looking at him, praying. [SPEAKER_03]: There was such a, it was a respect there that I thought was really good because she wasn't judging what he was doing.

[SPEAKER_03]: She was going, oh wow, oh, he's praying. [SPEAKER_03]: And there was a bit of [SPEAKER_03]: Well, it's a perfection, actually, all, you know. [SPEAKER_03]: True affection. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, true affection for him and what he was doing and blah, blah, blah. [SPEAKER_03]: I thought it was, that moment was for me a great moment, you know.

[SPEAKER_03]: It was great. [SPEAKER_02]: David shot it beautifully with the kind of reflection in her mirror, which he's getting ready for bed and then we're focused to you over there and you feel her in the foreground. [SPEAKER_02]: Like you say, Michael, [SPEAKER_02]: her respect and kind of admiration of like that part of him.

[SPEAKER_00]: And compassion for what he might be praying about just knowing his struggles, right? [SPEAKER_00]: When you really know someone that well. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: There's no judgment. [SPEAKER_03]: There's no judgment about it. [SPEAKER_03]: No. [SPEAKER_03]: That's right.

[SPEAKER_03]: Robby, since you direct, I'll lean on some way down the line. [SPEAKER_03]: We'll talk about directing. [SPEAKER_03]: Yes. [SPEAKER_03]: Yes. [SPEAKER_03]: I'd love to. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, okay. [SPEAKER_03]: Anyway, yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: I thought I thought David did a great job with the shots here revealing you and then you're done.

[SPEAKER_02]: You shut the box and you look back over your one shoulder. [SPEAKER_02]: She's not there anymore and her night gown gets thrown in your face. [SPEAKER_02]: You look over and she's under the fur saying what did she say? [SPEAKER_02]: She doesn't feel like talking anymore. [SPEAKER_02]: I wonder what she feels like instead of talking, but yes, be reading a book.

[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe reading a book. [SPEAKER_01]: Now, you see, he wants to play Monopoly. [SPEAKER_01]: I know. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Monopoly. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: The Clingon version, of course. [SPEAKER_01]: But I do have a question, Michael, about the box.

[SPEAKER_01]: So we just go back to the box. [SPEAKER_01]: What exactly? [SPEAKER_01]: Because in that reflection, that cool shot of Dax looking her POV, looking at the reflection, we do see inside the box a very detailed, which looks like a hand-painted statue or action figure almost. [SPEAKER_01]: They were very detailed.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I thought it looked like an action figure right at the end too. [SPEAKER_01]: Kaelus, are you praying to Kaelus? [SPEAKER_01]: Right, and to Kaelus. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, thank you. [SPEAKER_01]: I just did not even know that that happened with any cool else. [SPEAKER_03]: Never did.

[SPEAKER_03]: It never did. [SPEAKER_03]: You never saw it. [SPEAKER_03]: First time that. [SPEAKER_03]: Or after. [SPEAKER_03]: Right, you know. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, okay, and another thing that no one brought up was I really liked your pajamas. [SPEAKER_01]: I did I just just the simplicity of them or whatever Bob Blackman came up with it Words I believed that these were what these were the type of garments that wore for the wear to get to bed And they really look great so yeah [SPEAKER_00]: I'm concerned with my favorite color, so that was really nice of Bob to make my I mostly wear purple when I'm not in my uniform if you've noticed over the years no do you pop in life is that a color you were in real life yeah I do I don't have a lot of purple stuff now a kind of phases out is you know and also you can you can you can always find colors that you like because they're not in style or right.

[SPEAKER_02]: I remember when they did our quarters, when they were first introducing our quarters on Voyager, the designer came and asked, or no, Marvin Rush, I guess, came and asked, what color do you want the lights? [SPEAKER_02]: Because he would give a different color for each character. [SPEAKER_02]: He was like, what color would you like?

[SPEAKER_02]: And I said orange, because that's my favorite color. [SPEAKER_02]: So I had painted up for seven years [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, so yes, DAX is done talking and she's under the fur. [SPEAKER_02]: Is that fur? [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I get why there's fur there for clingons. [SPEAKER_02]: I think I think that's sort of the suggestion, right, that clingons like fur.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: But that seems very hot. [SPEAKER_02]: Fur. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_02]: Is that a special fur you brought for activities? [SPEAKER_02]: or is it the regular for? [SPEAKER_00]: I think it just looks super cool. [SPEAKER_01]: It gave me a hint of anewet or maybe Native American in the T.P.

[SPEAKER_01]: kind of, I don't know, it was a cool. [SPEAKER_00]: I would think it's something warf made, like he killed some beast on some planet and turned it into the quilt because that's very much a cling on thing too. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, they're just trying to become something.

[SPEAKER_03]: But I think most, I think Terry had it from the, you know, is that I think they thought it just looked really cool. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: They just thought, well, wouldn't this be cool, you know, and that's what they did. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, and also it plays into, we find out that clings on state to be cold.

[SPEAKER_00]: Trolls don't like to be hot. [SPEAKER_00]: So he has his pajamas, and then there's the big fur. [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm naked. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not wearing clothes on top of all that. [SPEAKER_02]: Speaking of that, Tara, let me ask you this. [SPEAKER_02]: In terms of modesty and things like that, it was very unusual on Star Trek to for actors to do intimacy.

[SPEAKER_02]: You didn't have clothes on, and they were showing that story pretty, pretty, you know, thoroughly. [SPEAKER_02]: How do you do remember conversations about modesty or any of that stuff, and how did you feel about it? [SPEAKER_00]: I don't remember, um, I would imagine, well, Michael might remember better when I were than I did, but I'm guessing it would be a strapless bra.

[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm sure I had underwear on, but there was no reason for me, even to have pasties on because it's not like we were going to do a full on love making scene. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: So it was, as I recall, it was like like a one piece [SPEAKER_03]: swimsuit, you know what I mean?

[SPEAKER_00]: You have a strapless, like a body suit, a strapless body suit. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Like a low cut back or something. [SPEAKER_03]: Because we saw your back when we saw some cut. [SPEAKER_03]: It was cut just above, you know, like in the chest area. [SPEAKER_03]: That's where it stopped, you know, you see from there her from her head down to there.

[SPEAKER_03]: But I think I'm almost positive now, I'm thinking about it. [SPEAKER_03]: I think it was like a one piece of body suit or like a bathing suit kind of thing. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: But with my back shot, you might not have seen. [SPEAKER_00]: I might have pulled it down just so you could see my back.

[SPEAKER_03]: Exactly, exactly. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, nowadays they've got screen actors guilt requires intimacy coordinators for actors to make that much more comfortable. [SPEAKER_02]: And I think in a lot of ways that's really, really good. [SPEAKER_02]: I've experienced it as a director sometimes making intimacy scenes more complicated than they need to be because of that intimacy coordinator.

[SPEAKER_02]: They almost over-talk it in ways we under-talk it back in the old days. [SPEAKER_02]: Now, it's sometimes almost over-talked, but whatever makes every actor comfortable and I think is important. [SPEAKER_00]: They even had one for Max and Romeo and Juliet in college. [SPEAKER_00]: They had a couple of one stage.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and they weren't naked on stage, but it was implied that they had sex. [SPEAKER_00]: So it was where is it safe, Terry? [SPEAKER_00]: Where is it safe for Michael to touch you? [SPEAKER_00]: And I could touch my head, my face, my shoulder. [SPEAKER_00]: You touch the body parts that you feel safe.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then the partner touches those body parts on themselves. [SPEAKER_00]: and then you do it back and forth, and then it progresses, and do you practice all of that? [SPEAKER_00]: And then when you get more comfortable, you either give more permission or you decide to give last permission.

[SPEAKER_00]: But I thought that was really great. [SPEAKER_00]: They did that especially for the college kids. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's great. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, your body makeup look good. [SPEAKER_02]: Do you remember if my quest more did all the [SPEAKER_02]: All of your spots. [SPEAKER_00]: Of course you did.

[SPEAKER_02]: On your legs and your everything. [SPEAKER_00]: Any excuse to get up those expensive markers to do my best? [SPEAKER_02]: Yes. [SPEAKER_02]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_02]: It's a kit rental. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, no. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, they especially win that when they stopped doing watercolor on me.

[SPEAKER_00]: It was because they had developed special paint to put on the body for tattoos that didn't come off easily. [SPEAKER_00]: So Mike, of course, he made a custom order for the colors he already used on me for paints, so we could still paint it on, and then he had markers made with that special paint in it to be able to do it on my legs.

[SPEAKER_02]: He was always with the cutting edge, my question was always on top of the latest, you know, concoctions that I was like a candidate. [SPEAKER_02]: you have to be well so you guys go do your activities under that fur and there's a little dissolve a little later on we pulled back off a photo and it's a photo of orphan decks in their wedding garb I guess do you remember the photo shoot I wanted to add that's what I I was my question do you remember the photo shoot tell me you could tell that I was not happy [SPEAKER_03]: You're going to do a lot.

[SPEAKER_02]: Why were you not happy? [SPEAKER_03]: Wardrobe people. [SPEAKER_03]: And I love Bob Blackman. [SPEAKER_03]: I love their pull, which I'm really, they're, they're, it's not malicious, but it was just the idea that they thought they always think, oh, wouldn't, doesn't this look fantastic doesn't this look great look, it looks great.

[SPEAKER_03]: And it's incredibly uncomfortable, it's incredibly like, and then they, oh, let's add this. [SPEAKER_03]: Let's add this. [SPEAKER_03]: Let's do the, the tiara. [SPEAKER_03]: Let's do the band. [SPEAKER_03]: Let's do the, and they just, they trust you up like a Christmas tree. [SPEAKER_03]: I just, I just was like, you know, and they're all now we're going to do the photoshoot.

[SPEAKER_03]: I'm like, you know, [SPEAKER_03]: serious. [SPEAKER_02]: So funny. [SPEAKER_02]: You better tell us. [SPEAKER_00]: No, I do. [SPEAKER_00]: Stage four door was open. [SPEAKER_00]: The air conditioning had to have been broken. [SPEAKER_00]: That's why we had the door open. [SPEAKER_00]: Triple digits in LA.

[SPEAKER_00]: Triple digits and we're standing there in that leather. [SPEAKER_00]: You didn't see the sweat on our faces, but our [SPEAKER_03]: Warf in those pictures, you know, Terry is looking, you know, she's very, you know, happy and everything like that. [SPEAKER_03]: You could tell, but you never see me smiling at all.

[SPEAKER_03]: I was just growing up. [SPEAKER_00]: I thought this might be the only chance I got married. [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, it would just. [SPEAKER_03]: Or if I might be it. [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, Michael, they kind of did it on Picard, too. [SPEAKER_03]: I said, guys, please, please don't. [SPEAKER_03]: And I go loaded you up.

[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, layered of everything. [SPEAKER_03]: And I go, is that all? [SPEAKER_03]: No, no, there's still another pad that we get. [SPEAKER_02]: I see like the cosplay conventions when people dress up as clingsons. [SPEAKER_02]: They are the most uncomfortable cosplayers out there. [SPEAKER_02]: They're sweating and they're exhausted.

[SPEAKER_02]: They're still doing it. [SPEAKER_02]: They still still doing it. [SPEAKER_02]: Do it to themselves. [SPEAKER_02]: They do it to themselves. [SPEAKER_03]: Yes. [SPEAKER_03]: And I can even paint either. [SPEAKER_01]: Did they take that photo during production while you were filming the scenes shoot after that?

[SPEAKER_01]: You probably did. [SPEAKER_01]: That's what I'm guessing they did. [SPEAKER_03]: It was before or after Terry, do you remember? [SPEAKER_03]: I think it was before. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I think it was before or something like that. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, just before going on stage. [SPEAKER_00]: I think they wanted to catch us in the photograph before anything fell out.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: But it was on a day that you did film. [SPEAKER_01]: So it wasn't a separate Saturday that you got to come in and it's always squeezed in. [SPEAKER_00]: So I know because there's still pain you to be on the set right there on pay over time.

[SPEAKER_02]: Right. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, that photo is everywhere. [SPEAKER_02]: I've seen it in conventions. [SPEAKER_02]: We see it in the show. [SPEAKER_02]: The fan favorite. [SPEAKER_02]: It's a fan favorite. [SPEAKER_02]: You pull off that photo, and you're both sleeping, and then cure a call from ops, or firm upstairs.

[SPEAKER_02]: She says she's got to talk to both of you, and Wurf hops up, he's ready to go, but Danx does not want to get out of bed. [SPEAKER_03]: And, or pull the fur off, or it was pretty impressive that night. [SPEAKER_03]: So, yeah, that's what it was. [SPEAKER_03]: He needed to exhaust it, and that makes sense.

[SPEAKER_00]: Lucky decks, lucky, lucky decks. [SPEAKER_01]: We do get a cool shot of the leg with the spots on it, though. [SPEAKER_01]: That's awesome. [SPEAKER_02]: When the first pull the cover, the first pull off, and we see the spots on the leg. [SPEAKER_02]: Great. [SPEAKER_02]: We go up to the captain's office.

[SPEAKER_02]: Kira is there. [SPEAKER_02]: Basically in the scene, she sends you on a spy mission into the Badlands. [SPEAKER_02]: It's very urgent. [SPEAKER_02]: You have to meet this spy. [SPEAKER_02]: He's been he's a Kardashian operative. [SPEAKER_02]: Starfleet's been receiving intelligence from him, and now he's sent this emergency signal that he's got to speak to someone face to face.

[SPEAKER_02]: So in 13 hours he's going to beam a subspace transmission to these coordinates in the Badlands, and so that's where they've got to go. [SPEAKER_02]: And the defiance gone, I guess, because... [SPEAKER_00]: Everything's gone except for the Shenandoah, which is what we're taking the drip on.

[SPEAKER_02]: Which makes me think of the musical Shenandoah, which reveals my love of Broadway musicals. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's stay on track. [SPEAKER_03]: I think Jonathan Friggs was in Shenandoah, by the way. [SPEAKER_03]: He may have been. [SPEAKER_03]: I think he was. [SPEAKER_02]: I think so, just to connect all the dots here.

[SPEAKER_02]: Um, we cut to the Shenandoah now, and Wolf has dacks a pad, which gives us a little wrap around the shot to reveal the two of them in the Shenandoah piloting. [SPEAKER_02]: They're discussing the honeymoon in the scene. [SPEAKER_02]: Basically, Wolf wants a big adventure. [SPEAKER_02]: hopefully it includes some pain and suffering.

[SPEAKER_02]: Lots of pain. [SPEAKER_02]: Dax doesn't want that at all. [SPEAKER_02]: She wants luxury. [SPEAKER_02]: I wrote down a rom-com. [SPEAKER_02]: It's just a rom-com scene. [SPEAKER_02]: I love the banter. [SPEAKER_02]: Dax wants luxury worth ultimately agrees. [SPEAKER_02]: And Dax is very surprised by this.

[SPEAKER_02]: And works as well. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm a married man now. [SPEAKER_02]: I've got to make compromise. [SPEAKER_02]: I've got to get out of my comfort zone. [SPEAKER_02]: She laid in the scene, she's basically commenting that he doesn't have a great sentence of humor. [SPEAKER_02]: He gets defensive about that, tries to make some jokes, and he says that she is not flexible at all.

[SPEAKER_02]: They tease each other, it's classic marriage rom stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, then I had my nose on a joint. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: By the end of it, he can after he says it's a joke. [SPEAKER_00]: the funny things you get your feelings hurt over or your ego goes, ah, but that's what I love about this.

[SPEAKER_03]: Do they write in the staged direction that or was that your uh, choice? [SPEAKER_03]: Which one at the very end? [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Which is going to be a very, very long trip. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if I talked to Livingston or not, or if it just was playing the back and forth.

[SPEAKER_00]: I think it was a way of mirroring what you were doing in the opposite way, right? [SPEAKER_00]: So you got a little sensitive. [SPEAKER_00]: Now, it's my turn to be a little sensitive. [SPEAKER_00]: But I think in the both characters can get sensitive about. [SPEAKER_00]: their character or their idiosyncratic things is a beautiful way to show that we have a very complex relationship.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's for real. [SPEAKER_00]: We have stuff we work on together. [SPEAKER_02]: You know we haven't seen this since you got married. [SPEAKER_02]: We haven't really spent time with you guys. [SPEAKER_02]: So to this is now you're a very couple. [SPEAKER_02]: You're gonna have to make compromises.

[SPEAKER_00]: A deep confrontation. [SPEAKER_00]: The first time I think was [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, then of course when we got married and then this this is we haven't had very many times where we've seen our relationship in action without other people telling the audience about our relationship. [SPEAKER_01]: Right, but even the rise of episode, they were short scenes, not like this scene.

[SPEAKER_01]: This was the longest scene that I've ever seen in any Star Trek episode between a couple. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, and it's so nuanced. [SPEAKER_03]: What's at the end at the end at the end of the rise, but there was there was a big scene where [SPEAKER_03]: What the hell's wrong with you, you know, and he goes through this long speech about when he was a kid and why he was trying to control her is because he didn't want to be out of control because when he was out of control, he killed a kid.

[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, we don't have a very sensitive during that. [SPEAKER_03]: What? [SPEAKER_00]: She was very sensitive in that scene. [SPEAKER_00]: I remember Robbie commenting on that, too. [SPEAKER_00]: I thought I was a dynamic. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: About how we played well together, and just the dynamic of really paying attention to you, your character of war, of dags, paying attention to the details of this trauma on you, and really respecting how that had a [SPEAKER_00]: enormous impact on you.

[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, I love my favorite scene. [SPEAKER_03]: I think you and I talked about this before it was when we go in there and Monty Markham is a guy that is, uh, I could, I thought love that guy played in something. [SPEAKER_03]: He goes, I say give me that thing, you know, and I do it to her and I say, yeah, that may be true, but trust and I handed to her, I turn around and handed to her [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, you're not talking about, you're talking about, you know, I mean, it was, it was a very, this is a nice thing.

[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, this is a nice thing. [SPEAKER_03]: That's a very good moment. [SPEAKER_03]: Very good moment. [SPEAKER_02]: There was a moment in this scene. [SPEAKER_02]: I loved when you realized that she was joking, Michael. [SPEAKER_02]: You said, oh, that is a joke. [SPEAKER_00]: It's not funny.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, but I get it. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, it's been a very dull ship. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's nice to have been a very dull show. [SPEAKER_01]: This is one of my favorite scenes in this entire episode. [SPEAKER_01]: Mainly because of how the chemistry between the both of you and how you worked off of each other.

[SPEAKER_01]: It was effortless, it flowed so well. [SPEAKER_01]: I was so excited to watch this scene. [SPEAKER_01]: Because really this is the scene for me where war fluts his hair down. [SPEAKER_01]: little bit, you know, in comparison to what we've seen so far in these space nine, um, it really was just great character development and something that I've never seen before on any of the episodes of Voyager to be perfectly honest when they're, it's wrong calm, which we don't really see, but it's wrong calm.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I also think we were in your trailer running lines like, [SPEAKER_00]: I remember going to your trailer and running lines, and I bet we did that over and over again because that was just bam bam bam bam. [SPEAKER_01]: It helped. [SPEAKER_01]: It helped. [SPEAKER_01]: It helped.

[SPEAKER_01]: It helped. [SPEAKER_00]: It helped. [SPEAKER_00]: You just don't always have the time to do it. [SPEAKER_02]: That's true. [SPEAKER_02]: Great team. [SPEAKER_02]: We go to O'Brien's quarters next miles is practicing Tongo in his quarters. [SPEAKER_02]: He's got a Tongo Relet wheel. [SPEAKER_02]: He's got the cards.

[SPEAKER_02]: Julian shows up in a tocks ready for their holiday. [SPEAKER_02]: My man, Bashir, Holadak, that Julian's excited about. [SPEAKER_02]: He's got the time booked. [SPEAKER_02]: They need to get there, but Miles wants to practice Tongo. [SPEAKER_02]: He's got a beat cork. [SPEAKER_02]: He's obsessed with this.

[SPEAKER_02]: And Julian's never played Tongo. [SPEAKER_02]: I love this that he's never played before. [SPEAKER_02]: It doesn't even know anything about it. [SPEAKER_02]: But Miles says it's a game of risk and strategy. [SPEAKER_02]: And Julian says, hmm. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, let's give it a try. [SPEAKER_02]: So even though he doesn't know the rules yet, he's going to give it a world.

[SPEAKER_02]: So off they go. [SPEAKER_02]: They also have great chemistry. [SPEAKER_02]: Both of these stories have really good duos and them, YouTube, Michael and Terry and also with Column and and said, here, great chemistry with these two. [SPEAKER_02]: We get a warflog here on the Shannon Dowa that they've arrived at the designated coordinates in the Badlands and are awaiting the transmission from Lesarren, and then we cut back inside and Lesarren makes a call.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's a little static at the start, but he pops up and he's very angry as to deal with a cling on here. [SPEAKER_02]: I was insulted for you. [SPEAKER_02]: Michael, I like his attitude and I did not like his attitude at all, but he does tell you that he's got details of every founder in the quadrant.

[SPEAKER_02]: That's big information. [SPEAKER_02]: every family are where they are. [SPEAKER_02]: They are the founders. [SPEAKER_02]: This isn't just some gem had ours. [SPEAKER_01]: This is the bosses of all the founders that are in the Alpha Quadrant, where they are when they're going to be there, very important information, huge, huge.

[SPEAKER_03]: I always thought that if a guy is coming to save your f*** that you shouldn't insult him. [SPEAKER_03]: right? [SPEAKER_00]: How about if you want something to do anything for you, maybe you don't insult them, you're idiot. [SPEAKER_03]: Maybe you just hold your tongue and just, you know, go, oh hi, you know, and play on, look at me, clean on, clean on, and I'm going, yeah, okay, well, we'll see [SPEAKER_00]: Why did they sometimes he gets the right ones?

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Sorry. [SPEAKER_02]: Maybe it is the karma thing that the writers put that in. [SPEAKER_02]: That this is not a heroic guy or something. [SPEAKER_02]: But I don't know. [SPEAKER_03]: The question is, did the writers would they have thought that, oh, we'll put this dialogue in, does it will dictate how he reacts later?

[SPEAKER_03]: Hmm, you know, or does it or it is a just they just wrote a scene. [SPEAKER_03]: It's good, you know, it's a question, so yeah, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, strangely enough, might take away from the scene is that this, this guest actor was the least Kardashian of any Kardashian I've ever seen.

[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, his delivery was very contemporary, very, just matter of fact, which actually worked because the prior scene of your rom-com scene is very contemporary. [SPEAKER_01]: There's very little sci-fi or technical babble going on in that scene or the scene when he's on the monitor. [SPEAKER_01]: So it kind of worked well for me.

[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if you have a feeling that's one of the same [SPEAKER_00]: You want to know Babel in there for sure. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, a little bit, right? [SPEAKER_00]: But the comedy is there too. [SPEAKER_00]: Also, I say, I'm a trail. [SPEAKER_00]: Does it make you feel any better? [SPEAKER_00]: And he says, are you trying to be funny?

[SPEAKER_00]: I said not at all. [SPEAKER_00]: He's the funny one. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: And I laughed out loud when I said that. [SPEAKER_01]: I just, yeah, it is. [SPEAKER_01]: It is. [SPEAKER_01]: Robby, where are you? [SPEAKER_00]: There he is. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Warf over there.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I was, I was just going to say the right thing. [SPEAKER_02]: The writing is great for a rom-com, but that's what I was saying earlier. [SPEAKER_02]: It was lacking in sort of a sci-fi solution or problem. [SPEAKER_02]: Or it feels like you could take these characters and this script and put it in a contemporary setting and it would work exactly the same.

[SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_02]: you know. [SPEAKER_01]: But that's part of what I'd liked about the scenes, though. [SPEAKER_01]: It was so different from what I know, normally. [SPEAKER_01]: He's definitely. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's very clever and, you know, the comedy and the snarky sort of clever jokes are scattered throughout the entire script for the film.

[SPEAKER_02]: Well, he's got a very detailed plan on what you need to do. [SPEAKER_02]: He's very bossy in this scene. [SPEAKER_02]: He is. [SPEAKER_02]: And so, and he gives you this very long plan. [SPEAKER_02]: He took care of everything. [SPEAKER_02]: He says three days from now. [SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.

[SPEAKER_02]: 17, 30 hours local time. [SPEAKER_02]: He's going to leave the base, walk into the jungle. [SPEAKER_02]: And he says it'll be at least two days before they even know he's missing. [SPEAKER_02]: So you need to meet him there. [SPEAKER_02]: and he gives you information to avoid diminished insensors on the ground.

[SPEAKER_02]: And he basically just says, follow my instructions, just do what I say. [SPEAKER_02]: Meet me at the rendezvous point and work for Greece. [SPEAKER_02]: He says, we'll be there. [SPEAKER_02]: So you don't argue you suck it up and you don't give him any crap back, but I would have if I were you.

[SPEAKER_02]: Well, if you repair it, see what it is. [SPEAKER_02]: Maybe her. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'm sure. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm sure to give him, uh, he was just a rude guy. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_02]: He karma. [SPEAKER_02]: They're going to head to the jungle and meet him in three days, and we cut back to Miles' quarters.

[SPEAKER_02]: Now, Julian's practicing tango. [SPEAKER_02]: He's learned very quickly, by the way, because he's... Well, he's got another key. [SPEAKER_00]: Enhanced. [SPEAKER_02]: Yep, very good. [SPEAKER_02]: He's very good at the game. [SPEAKER_02]: Miles still sucks. [SPEAKER_02]: He loses. [SPEAKER_02]: Julian beats him again.

[SPEAKER_02]: Miles realizes, wait a minute, I don't have to beat him. [SPEAKER_02]: You can beat him, Julian. [SPEAKER_02]: And so he convinces Julian to play Quark and use his genetically engineered brain. [SPEAKER_02]: But here's not convinced right away, but then a Brian says, do it for the satisfaction of the look on Quark's face when he's beaten at a game of tango by a lowly human.

[SPEAKER_02]: I like that call him, he's a human, light man, Quark does. [SPEAKER_01]: And Bashir's or Siddik's awesome comic timing with deal to cards after that. [SPEAKER_01]: And he drops out of the drain. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that was hilarious. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Very funny. [SPEAKER_02]: We're back in the run about.

[SPEAKER_02]: They're approaching these rendezvous points. [SPEAKER_02]: Dax flies this shuttle through some very cool moves. [SPEAKER_02]: I just want to give you props, Tara. [SPEAKER_02]: Very good flying. [SPEAKER_00]: And I would like to thank all the special effects people that made me look like I've been flying, a spaceship for 300 years.

[SPEAKER_01]: You did really good. [SPEAKER_01]: You were an expert. [SPEAKER_01]: I like it. [SPEAKER_01]: Think of was the video game asteroids and that's the same. [SPEAKER_01]: That was the game right there. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, Michael, that was pretty good flying. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you are a real pilot in real life.

[SPEAKER_02]: So that was pretty good flying for a TV pilot. [SPEAKER_03]: It was a great. [SPEAKER_03]: It was a great flying. [SPEAKER_00]: It was a good and more comedy. [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, you can more comedy. [SPEAKER_03]: Yep, yes. [SPEAKER_00]: We should have our own half-hour show, Michael Dorn.

[SPEAKER_03]: Right, I think that I think that our writers always want to be comedy writers. [SPEAKER_03]: They always have this thing worth. [SPEAKER_00]: The vice versa. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, where they pick up. [SPEAKER_03]: That's funny. [SPEAKER_03]: You go, yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: Is it? [SPEAKER_03]: Go, yes.

[SPEAKER_03]: Yes. [SPEAKER_03]: Is it? [SPEAKER_00]: You have to trust it when nobody can make a sound on the set. [SPEAKER_02]: That's right, they can't laugh, did people like when I direct comedies like Resident Alien, this show that I did the last few years, I would laugh at the monitors because I know the actors like it.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like the actors, you know, I wouldn't laugh to blow a take. [SPEAKER_02]: But I would make enough noise that they could hear me over in the corner because I wanted the actors to know it's funny. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Like you're doing it right. [SPEAKER_02]: It's working. [SPEAKER_00]: Did anyone laugh for you guys on the DS9 rehearsal not during filming because that was but during rehearsal the crew would laugh they would Yeah, I mean it's really helpful.

[SPEAKER_00]: I do too Maybe not abhoriously in Elizabeth's really hilarious, but I mean, yeah, they chuckled along you knew something good [SPEAKER_03]: No, remember, remember, remember, remember the crew laughing at me just because of Michael Dorn, because we just gave me so much, it was very, it was very, but you know, that was, you know, in that episode, I don't remember them laughing.

[SPEAKER_03]: I don't remember that, but that doesn't mean anything. [SPEAKER_03]: That doesn't mean that it did. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I feel you. [SPEAKER_02]: I have a question for you, Michael, the difference between the DS9 set in terms of laughter, things like that and the next gen set. [SPEAKER_02]: Do you remember a big difference between the vibes there?

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, two different vibes. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: Neither one is not better good or right or wrong at all, but it's, you know, just different is the, I mean, we were like between takes, [SPEAKER_03]: on next year and then but we also were we also really liked each other a lot and thought each other was very funny so it would be you know just this whole thing going on yeah and when i went over to deep space it was a very serious [SPEAKER_03]: And it was a very quiet set compared to next generation.

[SPEAKER_03]: But I do have to say that the deep space nine set is really the norm. [SPEAKER_03]: That's the way sets usually are. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: And our show was a little like an anomaly. [SPEAKER_03]: It wasn't really that's not. [SPEAKER_03]: the way it usually is. [SPEAKER_02]: Well you do fly through these amazing asteroid moves that you do there Terry and um and you decide to land a little deeper in the jungle because they're scanning their sensors, they're scanning you guys so you're going to go a little deeper and walk a little further um and I did like that David Livingston um decided to go handheld in this arming [SPEAKER_00]: felt like you're a part of it when you're at the audience.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the kind of just kind of physicality with that kind of camera makes the physicality kind of more real. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: So he showed us an old camera. [SPEAKER_02]: It was yeah, if I could give it some energy and some edge and danger that I thought was really good.

[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, Robbie, I still want to be over close. [SPEAKER_03]: I know, I know. [SPEAKER_03]: You know, I know that one of the or just close the basics. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I really wanted the basics here, but that's okay. [SPEAKER_03]: Hey, it's fine. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it was all kind of handheld in a one or it was nice energy, but there wasn't a lot of, um, cover journey thing.

[SPEAKER_02]: You end up in a two shot and then you guys leave and head out to. [SPEAKER_00]: And then that was the martini shot a bit. [SPEAKER_00]: It was not a year. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they're done. [SPEAKER_02]: Whenever you see a handheld scene, you know that they were running out of time, and so we got to shoot this quick.

[SPEAKER_02]: We cut down to the jungle, and you guys are lying on the ground here. [SPEAKER_02]: You're dialing in these codes that you got from Lissar and so that you won't be detected, and I love that you were lying down working with your tools on these little devices, and then David shot the overhead shot.

[SPEAKER_02]: on the crane that I thought was very cool. [SPEAKER_03]: Terry, was that the one where the lizard came by? [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: Right through her arms. [SPEAKER_03]: I love that. [SPEAKER_03]: That's the one part that I laughed out loud. [SPEAKER_03]: It changed a very close.

[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, she blows at it. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, she blows the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, [SPEAKER_02]: So the lizard goes by and they head off into the jungle for their very long walk.

[SPEAKER_02]: Now, longer than they had planned. [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, we cut back to quarks. [SPEAKER_02]: Miles and Julian want to play some tango. [SPEAKER_02]: Quarks says no, fringy only in this game. [SPEAKER_02]: And quarks not even afraid of Julian's genetic engineer brain. [SPEAKER_02]: Um, because he says not even a computer can master this game of tango.

[SPEAKER_02]: So already we know maybe Julian's genetically engineered brain is not going to be as [SPEAKER_02]: as reliable as they think. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, it's this position is maybe not as strong. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: It's intellect as we find out. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, we come back. [SPEAKER_02]: There's a dissolve here.

[SPEAKER_02]: And I do want to call out that there's a lot of dissolves in this episode, dissolving from one, you know, time passage of time. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, which is very unusual. [SPEAKER_02]: We don't do that a lot on Star Trek. [SPEAKER_02]: sometimes, but not as much. [SPEAKER_02]: This was a very heavy dissolve episode, I thought.

[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I don't know what the passage of time, but maybe that was the only way David could figure out how to show the passage of time. [SPEAKER_00]: and that these scenes go on for a long time. [SPEAKER_00]: And there's no break back and forth in some cases like this scene and like many of the times we're in the jungle, without a resolve, what do you do to show time passing, Robbie, or Michael?

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: I'm passing you. [SPEAKER_03]: If you're playing Tonga and that scene ends, then you have a shot of the planet. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, okay. [SPEAKER_00]: But what about with in the scene? [SPEAKER_03]: Within the scene? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you still cut to the planet and then back to the scene.

[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, no, no, no, you're talking about in one scene. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, with this scene, like he has this dissolve within this scene to show the time. [SPEAKER_00]: And also, when we're in the jungle, we're still in the jungle. [SPEAKER_02]: There's a montage of you running through the jungle.

[SPEAKER_02]: I had a pitch. [SPEAKER_02]: This is me rewriting this re-editing, this episode. [SPEAKER_02]: But I would have cut back and forth between you guys running in the jungle and then playing [SPEAKER_02]: Then you could have cut back and forth and tied these stories together in a visual way and you would have told the same story without dissolve after dissolve, after dissolve.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's a really good idea. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, maybe they just didn't, they'd just, when they wrote it, they didn't consider that or whatever the case. [SPEAKER_03]: Like it just went, they went, oh my god, you know, this is because it is it goes from the jungle to this kind of comedy scene.

[SPEAKER_03]: You know, they go back to it and then you stay for a while, then you go back to that and destruction. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, this and this funny, you know, which actually I was helpful. [SPEAKER_00]: It was helpful to me to take a deep breath because it was like, oh my gosh. [SPEAKER_00]: I need a break from yeah.

[SPEAKER_02]: Well, Julian and Quark are the last ones left in this time. [SPEAKER_02]: Go game. [SPEAKER_02]: Everybody else has gotten kicked out. [SPEAKER_02]: And but she was playing fast at the top of this game. [SPEAKER_02]: He's thrown his money in, he's calling for this, and that. [SPEAKER_02]: So he's feeling confident.

[SPEAKER_02]: He's confronting Quark. [SPEAKER_02]: Quark starts talking about DAX, getting married, brings that up, suddenly. [SPEAKER_02]: And he sort of romanticizes Dax and Julian's relationship and Julian starts to get distracted. [SPEAKER_02]: You see that he's a bit heartbroken about Dax getting married and his game is starting to go off.

[SPEAKER_02]: I even thought he was going to start crying at one point. [SPEAKER_02]: That's right. [SPEAKER_02]: All right, it's like, oh my gosh. [SPEAKER_02]: I said, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're. [SPEAKER_02]: There was a little amount of it. [SPEAKER_02]: I didn't realize John was that in love with Jacks.

[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I mean, in the beginning he was, but they haven't talked about it since the beginning though. [SPEAKER_02]: That's the funny thing. [SPEAKER_01]: And all of a sudden he's got all these emotions now. [SPEAKER_01]: There's a torch still there. [SPEAKER_02]: Clearly, it's still lit.

[SPEAKER_02]: Quark is is throwing his game off even miles tries to tell Julia and like stay stay focus stay focus Joly Kicking from the sidelines and work and and Quark finally calls the hand Quark has a total monopoly so he wins That needs a consortium. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it does be an consortium until this point we think sort of him is the highest hand But no, but not so he's the biggest one to him [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_02]: And then at the end of the scene, Jolian asked Quark, did you really mean Dax was my last chance at happiness and courses? [SPEAKER_01]: You don't expect me to show my all-my-cards, too. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, gosh. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's, that was a lot of words from, from Quark here. [SPEAKER_02]: He just went on and on and on and on about the, yeah, the Dax feelings for Dax.

[SPEAKER_02]: I had no idea. [SPEAKER_02]: It really didn't surprise me that Jolian was that upset about it. [SPEAKER_00]: I think it's nice that they did the slow burn out because it wasn't a one to punch, which a lot of times happens on our show because they're trying to squeeze it. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_03]: I thought it was odd that Julian was that broken up by it, I mean, after five years, yeah, that's the quite. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: And he said that something in riso, when he says, you know, that's why I couldn't would change. [SPEAKER_03]: And after she was too much work, and you go, I think he's, yeah, he's well over it.

[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, he was a mess. [SPEAKER_03]: He was a mess in this episode. [SPEAKER_03]: He was pathetic. [SPEAKER_02]: He was a really good boy. [SPEAKER_00]: Park guy. [SPEAKER_02]: We cut back to that moist jungle. [SPEAKER_02]: And there's a very long montage of you guys running. [SPEAKER_02]: This might have been where you slipped and fell, Michael.

[SPEAKER_03]: It was just all of after the show. [SPEAKER_03]: No, no, no. [SPEAKER_03]: I know what Terry, Terry wasn't in that scene that I felt. [SPEAKER_03]: That was when I was, [SPEAKER_01]: That's later. [SPEAKER_01]: That's when he's going to meet with Lazaran, and with that, we're going to see.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, let's see. [SPEAKER_02]: Stay with this one. [SPEAKER_02]: Stay with this one. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, there's a long montage. [SPEAKER_02]: The sun is getting higher. [SPEAKER_02]: I did like that the sun was moving and now that you Garrett may be mentioned that circle set. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, for the circle path, whatever.

[SPEAKER_02]: That makes sense that they could kind of go around at different angles with the sun because I definitely noticed the sun the kind of day passage with where the sun was moving in the background. [SPEAKER_02]: But the axe uses a pad, or fuses his mechleph as a machete. [SPEAKER_02]: Dax hurts her leg at one point and he's fixing her leg.

[SPEAKER_02]: So it's definitely [SPEAKER_02]: No kidding. [SPEAKER_00]: I was like, wow, I reacted like my sister would react. [SPEAKER_00]: I did. [SPEAKER_00]: That's not how I would react, but that's how my sister would react. [SPEAKER_00]: It was like, she was like, ow. [SPEAKER_00]: What happened?

[SPEAKER_00]: But I think that that kind of, I don't know, I liked it being real, it felt real. [SPEAKER_00]: It didn't feel necessarily appropriate. [SPEAKER_00]: But to you, I apologize. [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, but I'm saying they're trying to fix her up. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: Like how playing a character, playing a character, but I chose to react how my sister reacts, which is hilarious.

[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, good. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm sure your sister appreciated it for a little cameo, the nod to your sister. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think I told her that. [SPEAKER_02]: It's not tell her that. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, now from this podcast, she will know. [SPEAKER_00]: Good thing she doesn't listen.

[SPEAKER_00]: But if she wants to watch every episode. [SPEAKER_01]: If she was to watch this episode in that scene, she would see that owl and she would say, oh, that's totally normal. [SPEAKER_01]: That's the way it should be, because she wouldn't feel like she wouldn't think there was anything wrong with that.

[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe wrong with it that I reacted that way. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, I wouldn't react. [SPEAKER_00]: That was like, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, I want to say the jungle looked great. [SPEAKER_02]: Shout out to the jungle builders because it looked phenomenal.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that was really good. [SPEAKER_02]: It's nighttime at the end of this montage and you're warming up. [SPEAKER_02]: Dax brings a like a thermal kind of blanket for for warmth to warm him up. [SPEAKER_02]: They hear some animal mating calls off in the distance, and then the mating calls seem to be very satisfied that the animals are getting some nooky or something.

[SPEAKER_02]: It appears off camera. [SPEAKER_02]: Jungle. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes. [SPEAKER_02]: Little jungle. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Worf describes his childhood here how how he really feels at home in this in a way. [SPEAKER_02]: He was drawn to this because he when he was a kid he used to love to [SPEAKER_02]: run wild in the woods, and as he's kind of opening up and sharing, they hear the animals that were just having the jungle and booky run off, and that kind of warns them, worth knows something, someone is approaching, and so they go hide behind this fallen tree, they see some gem hadar coming into the clearing, and they [SPEAKER_02]: Shoot at them.

[SPEAKER_02]: They shoot the jemodar. [SPEAKER_02]: It looks like they're getting the best of them, but there is some exchange of a phaser fire there, and DAX is wounded very badly in her. [SPEAKER_00]: But we deal with kill three of them. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you get rid of them. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, all of them.

[SPEAKER_02]: Well, that all patrol all of them. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: You've sacrificed yourself, Terry. [SPEAKER_02]: You've taken one to the gut. [SPEAKER_02]: for the team. [SPEAKER_01]: And we've learned from a prior episode of Doofase Nine that the Gemma Dar do use a type of phaser where it which introduces an anti-coagulants that you can't heal.

[SPEAKER_01]: You just keep bleeding out which is part of their weaponry which is kind of super cool actually. [SPEAKER_01]: So. [SPEAKER_02]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_01]: That's horrible. [SPEAKER_01]: It's cool. [SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, [SPEAKER_02]: Lucky shot lucky shot yes well Terry you are super tough because you're like I'm fine Let's get out of here.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah take my chances on foot You're like and you're leaving the way you're like you're ready. [SPEAKER_02]: You ready? [SPEAKER_01]: Very heroic. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, did I? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah That's how I would be Nope, I can do it. [SPEAKER_00]: We can do it. [SPEAKER_00]: I can do it You're filming me.

[SPEAKER_00]: We're gonna do it. [SPEAKER_00]: I do it everywhere [SPEAKER_02]: Um, the next day, a little time has passed, Dax is getting very delirious in this scene. [SPEAKER_02]: Um, we learned that you're still 12 kilometers from the rendezvous point. [SPEAKER_02]: That's a long walk for an interview, was it 12?

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: 12 at this point, and then, uh, [SPEAKER_02]: later on that you're going to be close here, but yeah, this is 12 kilometers of heavy juggle. [SPEAKER_00]: So from the last scene, uh, warf tells the good news is no vital organs were damaged, and I'm like now the bad news.

[SPEAKER_00]: And he said the disruptor burst, left the anti coagulant in your system. [SPEAKER_00]: So he can't stop the bleeding. [SPEAKER_00]: And he says no. [SPEAKER_00]: So I say something about the not hemorrhaging, he gives me a hype bow of a pain killer. [SPEAKER_00]: And I think she knows that they better move now or not at all because it's gonna keep getting worse.

[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's 12 kilometers. [SPEAKER_03]: It's like 20 something miles, 24 or 20. [SPEAKER_01]: I would say it's like eight miles. [SPEAKER_01]: That sound right, Robbie, it's less. [SPEAKER_01]: it's less miles. [SPEAKER_00]: How many miles are in 12 kilometers? [SPEAKER_00]: That would be 7.46 miles.

[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I was close. [SPEAKER_01]: Hey, but it might as well be 12 miles because you're going through fake jungle. [SPEAKER_03]: So you got seven miles through a thick jungle. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Not easy. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, Dax is getting delirious. [SPEAKER_02]: Worf flames himself in the scene.

[SPEAKER_02]: He gets really mad at himself, um, they kind of get into a little bit of a tiff here. [SPEAKER_00]: Because I think he's really blaming me for making the jokes, right? [SPEAKER_02]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm not thinking straight. [SPEAKER_00]: I guess he isn't either.

[SPEAKER_00]: He's worried about me and completing the mission. [SPEAKER_03]: And I'm pissed of myself. [SPEAKER_03]: See, I did. [SPEAKER_03]: I thought it was good line that he said, you know, I if I wasn't distracted, I would have heard them coming all long time. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: It's true.

[SPEAKER_02]: And I think the writers were good at setting this idea that Warf is, he says earlier in the episode, you know, I'm married now. [SPEAKER_02]: I've got to make some compromises. [SPEAKER_02]: I've got to do things differently. [SPEAKER_02]: And now he's regretting it. [SPEAKER_02]: He's like, you know, I, I, I, I mad at myself because I made compromises.

[SPEAKER_02]: I, I wasn't doing my best job. [SPEAKER_00]: No, when we're doing work, you can separate one for the other, but we're in it. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, we're in it. [SPEAKER_02]: You're in it. [SPEAKER_00]: And we don't have much time. [SPEAKER_03]: I don't have much time. [SPEAKER_02]: She gets a few more hypospray shots, some painkillers, and DAX is they're heading off.

[SPEAKER_02]: This is where I thought they were near a waterfall. [SPEAKER_02]: You could hear a waterfall, which I liked that little detail that they had. [SPEAKER_02]: But as they get near this sound of a waterfall, Dax collapses, she's in way too much pain, really bad shape, she needs painkillers.

[SPEAKER_02]: And she comets on his smile, he smiles at one point here. [SPEAKER_02]: We talked about this earlier too, where Wolf smiles, and she says, oh, I like your smile. [SPEAKER_02]: What does she say? [SPEAKER_02]: She says that he's a little smile. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that was almost a smile.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then there's no smile when they cut back to him. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like now it's gone. [SPEAKER_02]: What he says when he says when the mission is over, I will smile all you want and he promises and then she says, let's get this finished this mission and get out of here. [SPEAKER_02]: So I thought that was a sweet romantic exchange for a nice detail.

[SPEAKER_00]: It was. [SPEAKER_00]: It was a guess. [SPEAKER_01]: I also love how Dax is still trying to keep the mood light for warps sake. [SPEAKER_01]: And when she says that one part, she's like, oh, more plasma, no thanks. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm full. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, they're just that one line. [SPEAKER_01]: I was laughing.

[SPEAKER_01]: So, but again, it's all about how can I keep my husband, you know, focused on this and not worried about me. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm good, you know, kind of attitude, which I like that the writers did that. [SPEAKER_03]: I look at it a little different. [SPEAKER_03]: I look at that she is, she is trying to keep the mood light for herself because she realized that she's in deep trouble.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_03]: And not so much she's trying to try to keep him, his spirits up because he doesn't have any spirits and so. [SPEAKER_03]: She's trying to keep herself and this whole thing, you know, let's, you know, let's not dwell on that. [SPEAKER_03]: You know, it's not that.

[SPEAKER_03]: Okay. [SPEAKER_03]: She's trying her best, but I think she knows it. [SPEAKER_03]: This is not only [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and so life or death is real right now. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, you can either go, I think she, you know, for my understanding, when I look at it, this is one good thing about the writing or the day allow the audience to kind of make up their own minds of, you know.

[SPEAKER_03]: And, you know, that she's looking at it and she's going, you know, okay, I can look at it two ways. [SPEAKER_03]: I could look at it like Holy War, if I'm going to be dead in a few hours. [SPEAKER_03]: Or, you know what, you know, this is okay, you know, then you never know. [SPEAKER_03]: You never know what.

[SPEAKER_00]: Honestly, I think you're right, Michael. [SPEAKER_00]: I think she's managing the situation as best she can because if any one of us right now thinks back on an injury, a time you got injured that was really scary and you were just trying to hold it together, I think that's what we do we try to hold it together until we can't physically can't anymore.

[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's like, when you know things are that serious, you know, people make jokes to deal with the reality that's, that's, that's the terrifying thing that you might die needs to be covered with. [SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be all right. [SPEAKER_01]: So this is that's a lie. [SPEAKER_01]: So this is that's just coping mechanism is what is happening right here.

[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I have humor's definitely a huge copy mechanism. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, my God. [SPEAKER_00]: But this turns from rather quickly, because I cannot stand. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you can't stand. [SPEAKER_02]: You can't go on any further. [SPEAKER_02]: You're not going to make it.

[SPEAKER_02]: Worf says you need surgery. [SPEAKER_02]: And Dax says you've got to finish the job and let's get back. [SPEAKER_02]: So she insists he go on finish the job, leave her there. [SPEAKER_02]: He reluctantly agrees and he leaves a medkit for her to give herself the pain medication as she needs it.

[SPEAKER_02]: And he heads off. [SPEAKER_00]: First we have a kiss, a beautiful kiss, just give me a kiss and go. [SPEAKER_00]: And you saw like as soon as he was gone, I started to cry because I'd been holding it in all this time. [SPEAKER_03]: That was an honest, that was an honest reaction, wasn't it, Terry?

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, never see you again. [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm dying. [SPEAKER_00]: I am literally dying. [SPEAKER_00]: Do you, do you, It's making me feel upset right now even just talking about you? [SPEAKER_00]: No, right. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I can feel that from you.

[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if you guys knew this or not, but Terry, did you know at this point that you were leaving the series at this point? [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I knew I had to tell. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, I had to tell Berman before we had until the beginning of the sixth season to make up our minds. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, so you knew you were leaving.

[SPEAKER_02]: And so in some, there's some layer in here for me that was playing this, the stakes of this as you knew this was the end of your run on this series in the end, whether it was this episode or soon. [SPEAKER_00]: No, they would use me and tell that the contract was expired, but when I read this script, I thought, what a shame they didn't pick this script and have worth complete the mission and I pass and then he has to live with it.

[SPEAKER_02]: Right? [SPEAKER_02]: interesting. [SPEAKER_00]: That would have been crazy because everybody would have expected him to go back and get her and. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, there's a lot of layers. [SPEAKER_02]: The lot of layers to this episode in this season and where it works occurring for sure.

[SPEAKER_02]: Well, we follow Wurf. [SPEAKER_02]: He had steeper into the jungle. [SPEAKER_02]: He's running through the jungle. [SPEAKER_02]: His heart is pounding. [SPEAKER_02]: There's animosity. [SPEAKER_02]: That's where you shall. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, the heartbeat is getting louder and louder. [SPEAKER_02]: And you've talked about two heart speeding as one for the marriage episode.

[SPEAKER_02]: So this is very symbolic. [SPEAKER_02]: And you'll refer back to this when you talk to Cisco, but your heart [SPEAKER_02]: you're hearing your own heartbeat, you take your necklace and you throw it back at a tree and you head back the way you came. [SPEAKER_02]: And pick, dacks up, carry her through the forest unconscious.

[SPEAKER_00]: How did you carry me? [SPEAKER_02]: I'll put it in up to carrier. [SPEAKER_01]: You carried her at least 20. [SPEAKER_01]: Wait a minute. [SPEAKER_01]: Remember, they landed 20 kilometers from where the meeting point was. [SPEAKER_01]: If she collapsed at with 12 kilometers left, he had to carry her eight kilometers back.

[SPEAKER_01]: That's, yeah, roughly like 5.9 miles. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they keep them thick jungle again, it's like, yeah, I have a question my guy. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's your. [SPEAKER_01]: That's your. [SPEAKER_01]: That's your. [SPEAKER_01]: I'll see. [SPEAKER_00]: Me was straight over a shoulder.

[SPEAKER_00]: Like I was just a second. [SPEAKER_03]: I was made it back and like, you know, [SPEAKER_01]: Well, record time, too, before she brought out. [SPEAKER_01]: So that's difficult, right? [SPEAKER_01]: Michael, what is a symbolism? [SPEAKER_01]: What did you think about you throwing what was going through war's head to make him throw the mechleeth?

[SPEAKER_03]: Like, is that just, I just give you frustration or, yeah, I thought the idea was that that was a symbolic way of saying, okay, this mission is over. [SPEAKER_03]: I don't need this. [SPEAKER_03]: I don't need this anymore. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: you know, interesting. [SPEAKER_03]: I don't need a mechler anymore.

[SPEAKER_03]: Right. [SPEAKER_03]: I'm going back. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, the punctuation of the of the mission done finished. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: But, but less less about it's symbolic, but it's also practical because he's saying, I I literally don't need a weapon anymore.

[SPEAKER_03]: This this is gone from, you know, a dangerous mission to a rescue mission. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: or whatever the case we want to call it, but it was, you know, it was, it was, it was some ballad gesture. [SPEAKER_03]: I always thought that he was just mad at the tree. [SPEAKER_03]: I wonder what the tree do to you?

[SPEAKER_00]: I can't carry the metcliffe and throw her over my shoulder. [SPEAKER_00]: I can't carry the metcliffe and throw her over my shoulder. [SPEAKER_00]: I can't carry the metcliffe and throw her over my shoulder. [SPEAKER_03]: I can't carry the metcliffe and throw her over my shoulder. [SPEAKER_03]: I can't carry the metcliffe and throw her over my shoulder.

[SPEAKER_03]: I can't carry the metcliffe and throw her over my shoulder. [SPEAKER_01]: I can't carry the metcliffe and throw her over my shoulder. [SPEAKER_01]: I can't carry the metcliffe and throw her over my shoulder. [SPEAKER_01]: I can't carry the metcliffe and throw her over my shoulder. [SPEAKER_01]: I can't carry the metcliffe and throw her over my shoulder.

[UNKNOWN]: I can [SPEAKER_03]: Anyway, but thank you for that. [SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, I thought it was symbolic.

[SPEAKER_03]: It was a symbolic texture of, you know, for me, it like it was like, oh, yeah, it's a piece. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I don't need to say more I'm going to say my, my old lady. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay. [SPEAKER_02]: Great. [SPEAKER_02]: That makes sense. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, we cut to an establishing of the station and we cut inside the infirmary.

[SPEAKER_02]: Warf is waiting for word on DAX and Cisco arrives. [SPEAKER_02]: He is mad. [SPEAKER_02]: He says, [SPEAKER_02]: The siren is dead. [SPEAKER_02]: He doesn't ask you if you realize the information he had could have saved millions of long years. [SPEAKER_02]: Which if it was the founders, if that was the information he had, you could have probably the Federation could have wiped out this whole dominion thing with this connection and the warf chose love.

[SPEAKER_02]: So, this was mad. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you know, robbing fabulous isn't my bad fact. [SPEAKER_03]: So you get the thing as Cisco said, you know, you know, some of those aren't as dead, but I wanted to say, hey, you shouldn't have been salted us. [SPEAKER_01]: When I watched it the first time, I assumed I felt exactly like you did, he's just so mad, but on the second watching, then I was like, wait, he's not really, because when he walks into the room, he says to Warf, what's the word?

[SPEAKER_01]: He's not like, what happened? [SPEAKER_01]: He's not like, he's literally like, what's the word? [SPEAKER_01]: He says it's very commonly. [SPEAKER_01]: He's not yelling at all. [SPEAKER_02]: And then if you think about him, he just has to say what he has to say because he has to say that.

[SPEAKER_01]: But he's really feeling he was like, you did exactly what I would have done if that was my wife at the end, right? [SPEAKER_01]: So he's got to be mad on the outside, but on the outside, he's not mad at all. [SPEAKER_00]: I feel he just felt like he was being stern and appropriately stern.

[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I have to say that. [SPEAKER_00]: Professional. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: Well, I've kept in head on my opinion about that scene. [SPEAKER_03]: I have a very strong opinion about that scene. [SPEAKER_03]: He comes in. [SPEAKER_03]: He says, and I give him the facts, and he goes, you know, well, [SPEAKER_03]: You know, we can't, you know, put you on report or have a court of inquiry, because then, which is a good scene, I'll give the line is that, you know, that would be revealing too much.

[SPEAKER_03]: But, and he says, but I got it to let you know, they're not going to let you be a captain. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, I have your own ship. [SPEAKER_03]: I wanted them to write something. [SPEAKER_03]: that would basically say, in no uncertain terms, along with the speech I gave and all that type of stuff.

[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's great speech that I wanted. [SPEAKER_03]: He gives a speech and he says, that's why I went back in his well, you're not gonna be a captain. [SPEAKER_03]: And I wanted Warf to say something and I'm borrowing this from a friend of mine I was talking to her about this and she goes, well, he kind of doesn't give a rat s*** about being a captain.

[SPEAKER_03]: And that's the in between him saying, I would have done the same thing and you're not going to be a captain. [SPEAKER_03]: I wanted work to say, let me tell you something, you know, I've been in battles where I've saved the universe, you know? [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, you've already done that.

[SPEAKER_03]: I've done this and that and gotten commended. [SPEAKER_03]: And if they don't think I deserve it, so be it. [SPEAKER_03]: Because I think that that was, you know, it kind of, for me, it kind of cheapen the idea that, oh, that's all warf wants is to be a captain. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: Yes.

[SPEAKER_01]: But also, Michael, in a way, you're your simple line of, I understand also kind of spoke volumes to what you just said, just now, it's like, look, I already know what I'm, my worth is. [SPEAKER_01]: I've already saved the galaxy in my own right. [SPEAKER_01]: Interesting. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so it still worked for me regardless.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, well, good. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, well, and he also added, well, all of this is before the very last things Cisco says, is that if it were Jennifer, he would go back. [SPEAKER_00]: But he also says that UNC are not to be assigned to a mission on your own ever again. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_03]: Okay. [SPEAKER_03]: There's two things with what Terry just said. [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, I would have done the same thing, patronizing. [SPEAKER_03]: That's how I felt for you. [SPEAKER_03]: You have to perform that way. [SPEAKER_03]: It may not have come off that way. [SPEAKER_03]: It's just my opinion.

[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not saying that too. [SPEAKER_03]: It was a bit patronizing. [SPEAKER_03]: Well, I would have done the same thing. [SPEAKER_03]: Well, oh, well, I feel better now. [SPEAKER_03]: What are you talking about, you know? [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I'm easy for you to say your captain and she's gone.

[SPEAKER_00]: You are never going to be in that situation. [SPEAKER_00]: Was this goes never going to be in that situation because Jennifer already died and he is the captain. [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, he has nothing to lose to say that because it doesn't really mean anything because there's situation in a place that was very patronizing.

[SPEAKER_03]: I thought it was like, well, you know, well, if you do feel that way, then I've must, I'm like, I don't give a rat. [SPEAKER_03]: But the, um, [SPEAKER_03]: And all of these people have been, and this is me nitpicking. [SPEAKER_03]: So allow me this nitpicking. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah.

[SPEAKER_03]: So hopefully they've been at war for a day, a day, a million years, right? [SPEAKER_03]: Fighting battles for hundreds and hundreds of years. [SPEAKER_03]: At some point in that time, they would have realized that sending people that are married or in a relationship on a mission together is not a good idea.

[SPEAKER_03]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, especially a dangerous one, this was a specific dangerous thing to do with it. [SPEAKER_03]: Like, you know, oh, you guys go, well, you know, you should have gone with you and I should have stayed in the station. [SPEAKER_03]: There you go. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah.

[SPEAKER_03]: And so anyway, that's my little nitpicking of that particular scene there. [SPEAKER_03]: It's a good nitpick. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_03]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_03]: That goes that I have to say that only because the audience is not going to get all that stuff that I said. [SPEAKER_03]: I think the audience is going to enjoy it.

[SPEAKER_03]: They're going to love the batter between decks and war. [SPEAKER_03]: They're going to love the danger. [SPEAKER_03]: They're going to love the tongue. [SPEAKER_03]: They're going to love all that stuff. [SPEAKER_03]: This is just, you know, like me talking about directing. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, but there's all, I mean, we've been watching these episodes now.

[SPEAKER_02]: There's always a great idea that comes out of these conversations from somebody where we kind of go, oh, that would have made it so much better. [SPEAKER_02]: And I think you've mentioned a great idea here at the end with the scene with Cisco that for warf to have had a response to some of these consequences and to held his own a bit, you know, and so that's not all that matters to me.

[SPEAKER_03]: And I think Garrett is right. [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, that his, his take is another good take, which is when I go, I understand. [SPEAKER_03]: You know, that, that's being, that's being, that's being volumes. [SPEAKER_03]: You can tell you're perfectly right. [SPEAKER_03]: A lot of, if, if somebody on the day at several, well, Michael, you can do this.

[SPEAKER_03]: You can do that. [SPEAKER_03]: I would have chosen Garrett's way. [SPEAKER_03]: I was, yeah, yeah, that's the way to do it. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Also, I, I think you're right to Michael that, honestly, I can't believe they wouldn't already have in place.

[SPEAKER_00]: This should be in the world book. [SPEAKER_00]: Are you kidding? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because we need other than people on our own station or on the own, your same ship. [SPEAKER_03]: You know what they do it now? [SPEAKER_03]: With firefighters and police and some other people, other those those kind of dangerous territory.

[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: people, you know, why I was in the home of a FBI. [SPEAKER_00]: No. [SPEAKER_00]: You can't. [SPEAKER_00]: Because then that's also saying, well, how about we can't leave our own behind when you're in battle. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: But then you're saying, you have to leave your own behind to complete the mission.

[SPEAKER_03]: I wanted to, uh, I was talking about some other show and, uh, they said, what about this? [SPEAKER_03]: I said, well, if we did that, we wouldn't have an [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: That's true. [SPEAKER_02]: It would be something else, you know. [SPEAKER_02]: So anyway, that's my story.

[SPEAKER_02]: Well, our very last scene in this episode is just Dax and War. [SPEAKER_02]: If we go into surgery and Warf is holding Dax's hand when she wakes up. [SPEAKER_02]: worth fills her in on everything that he didn't meet Lazaran and that he's Lazaran is dead now and he says that she's more important than any of that and he doesn't regret anything and she's speechless and he says you know you could just say thanks for saving my life there's a nice little runner here at the end you you could just say thank you for saving my life she says thank you for saving my life [SPEAKER_02]: And he continues, and you could just say, I would do the same for you, and she says, well, I'd have to think about that.

[SPEAKER_02]: My career is very important to me. [SPEAKER_02]: Very funny. [SPEAKER_02]: Very great chemistry. [SPEAKER_02]: And then at the end, it turns sweet and romantic. [SPEAKER_02]: He says, and you could just say, I love you, and she does. [SPEAKER_02]: And he says, I love you. [SPEAKER_02]: And we end up in a love story, beautiful episode.

[SPEAKER_00]: The great shot of our profiles in the end. [SPEAKER_00]: It was so pretty. [SPEAKER_02]: Great profile shot. [SPEAKER_00]: Is it pretty? [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, beautiful. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: No, the, um, he at the end, there's two things that happened that I really like, which is when she says, are you in trouble?

[SPEAKER_03]: I've been in trouble before. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I love that too. [SPEAKER_00]: What a cowboy answer. [SPEAKER_00]: But you're going in trouble before. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: And I think that it, [SPEAKER_03]: He knew that she was going to say, oh, you know, my career is very important to him.

[SPEAKER_03]: He had a gap in that kind of opening. [SPEAKER_03]: Well, you could say, I do the same. [SPEAKER_00]: And she went, I think that's a running thing with us, that kind of joking. [SPEAKER_00]: There was a scene where we got into [SPEAKER_00]: During this dominion war, and I don't remember who's the end of last season, but I hadn't seen you for a long time.

[SPEAKER_00]: And now I can't remember the whole thing, but there was a joking, and then I was serious, and then you were joking. [SPEAKER_00]: It was, but it was funny, but I was, [SPEAKER_02]: worried about you and the two of you your two characters give the show an opportunity to have that sort of banter that no other combo can quite have in the same way.

[SPEAKER_03]: You guys are great. [SPEAKER_03]: Well, it was a it was a it was serendipity that I came on the show and that they put us together. [SPEAKER_03]: I think that and I say this many times. [SPEAKER_03]: I think that they thought it was going to be all this going to be interesting. [SPEAKER_03]: But then they realized what a pair we were.

[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, she's, you know, she's a big personality and I'm a big personality and [SPEAKER_03]: And she gives, as well as she gets, you know, and I think they just all of a sudden went, oh, I think we can write for these guys, you know? [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And they're like writing for us, that's for sure.

[SPEAKER_03]: Really, they're like writing for us. [SPEAKER_03]: There's a lot of it. [SPEAKER_03]: There was, I mean, also the, and I think I may have told Terry this, but they went out a bit. [SPEAKER_03]: on the other my other relationships, they never did go heavily into the clinging on rituals and stuff like that.

[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, definitely definitely with with Marina and my other mate, we really didn't. [SPEAKER_00]: And this was the Paxon, this was the Paxon, she's fantastic. [SPEAKER_03]: This was this was it led into a lot of [SPEAKER_03]: really, really interesting developments with our characters, like really, really interesting stuff.

[SPEAKER_03]: It was also interesting that, because Terry and I knew each other really well before that we were just, you know, we were just happy about working together, you know, because it was, yeah, very interesting. [SPEAKER_03]: But I did think that that that last shot I will give David Livingston that that last shot of our profile was Yeah me what tells the whole story.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's a great image to go off of for this episode It really captures the spirit of the episode [SPEAKER_01]: It's now time for us to talk about the theme slash lesson of this episode. [SPEAKER_01]: We'll start with tearfare and then we'll go to Michael and then Robbie and then myself. [SPEAKER_01]: What is your takeaway from for this episode, Tefer?

[SPEAKER_00]: Well, love conquers all and more importantly, do not have couples go on dangerous mission together. [SPEAKER_01]: Good lesson. [SPEAKER_01]: Nice. [SPEAKER_01]: Nice. [SPEAKER_03]: Michael, the lesson is [SPEAKER_03]: uh... to follow your heart uh... it will it will never let you down i love that and don't give a rat's about being a captain and also good or would anybody else thinks or would anyone else thinks good good [SPEAKER_02]: Robby, my lesson was, love means you must sometimes make compromises and choices because to me, worth talked about, oh, I'm having to make some compromise, I'm married man now and he has to make a choice at the end.

[SPEAKER_02]: Love means you got to make choices sometimes of what's more important, so yeah, that's my lesson. [SPEAKER_01]: Great, mine is better to keep work, life separate from married life, which is kind of the redo. [SPEAKER_01]: All right, we have a Patreon poll winner for theme slash moral slash lesson to the episode with Tairfare submitted by Jenny.

[SPEAKER_00]: Don't send couples alone on away missions together. [SPEAKER_02]: Everybody's under that list. [SPEAKER_02]: We're on that same. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we got that one. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we have an [SPEAKER_01]: That's funny, too. [SPEAKER_02]: We have an honorable mention for theme and moral that's submitted by Kit Marie.

[SPEAKER_02]: And it is never merry someone you're not willing to throw your career away for. [SPEAKER_02]: Wow. [SPEAKER_01]: That's great. [SPEAKER_03]: It's not good. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to check it in the egg thing. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: I would love it. [SPEAKER_01]: Well that is the end of our discussion, our recap of change of heart.
