[SPEAKER_03]: Hello everyone, welcome to the Delta Flyers journey through the wormhole with quark, Dax, and their good friends, Tom and Harry. [SPEAKER_03]: Join us as we make our way through episodes of Star Trek Deep Space 9. [SPEAKER_01]: Your host for today, are my fellow Trek actors, Armin Sherman, Robert Duncan McNeill, and meself, Garrett Wong.

[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know why it slowly came into an accent. [SPEAKER_01]: The very don't either. [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe it's the green behind arm and arm. [SPEAKER_01]: We do have a message for all of you. [SPEAKER_01]: We have some exciting news. [SPEAKER_01]: We have new segments, new segments to our show.

[SPEAKER_01]: This is our Patreon portion. [SPEAKER_01]: Is that right? [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_03]: In our Patreon portion, the Patreon members have gotten together and suggested some great new ways that we can participate, that they can vote on things, or add to the content, [SPEAKER_03]: things that we can do.

[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, there are some of the things our Patreon member submitted poetry that we read poems by our Patreon members. [SPEAKER_03]: Additional polls for honorable mentions and for our existing polls. [SPEAKER_03]: We've got production shoutouts, quarks, business sense, where Armin's going to give his take on how quark could have put [SPEAKER_03]: profited from the episode.

[SPEAKER_03]: We got a pop quiz question for us that comes from our patreon members. [SPEAKER_03]: We talk about characters that aren't there, what they might be doing and subcategories of rating the episode acting, writing, directing and overall. [SPEAKER_03]: So a lot of new content and things to talk about in the bonus material, we [SPEAKER_03]: we encourage everybody to participate and vote in that will see how popular those conversations and participation things are and hopefully we'll keep them going if everybody likes it.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, we are implementing a lot of new content or types of content and so you know if we have a lot of submissions for certain things we then know that's the most popular thing they love it and we'll keep doing it and things that don't get a lot of submissions we're going to just take that out you know so we'll adjust according to what you guys love and what you want so.

[SPEAKER_01]: If it seems like we're throwing a lot at you and use the fat you at once and if you're not someone who loves a lot of change, don't worry, it'll balance out in the end. [SPEAKER_01]: So just make sure you guys participate in this because this is a chance for you to really be part of the show.

[SPEAKER_04]: One of the nice things about going to conventions is always getting feedback from the people in front of the table. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: And this is like that and I'm looking forward to that. [UNKNOWN]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's one thing I love about this podcast is the kind of community that it creates and the conversations that happen.

[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, conventions through our Patreon Discord channel and on the zooms and all that stuff. [SPEAKER_03]: It's just a great community of people and that love Star Trek and connect with each other and I love that. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and it's probably the same for both of you, but it makes me excited when a fan comes up and says, I just found the podcast.

[SPEAKER_01]: All right, Mike, there's so happy, and there's, and makes me happy too, because I feel that, that energy is awesome. [SPEAKER_01]: But even on the cruise, you're on, Armin, I'm sure someone came up and talked to you about the podcast. [SPEAKER_04]: Many people, many people came up to me and said how much they liked the podcast, and I shout out to all those people and it was nice talking to them.

[SPEAKER_03]: Awesome, yeah, awesome. [SPEAKER_03]: Well, we got some birthdays for our Patron members today. [SPEAKER_03]: We do a couple of birthdays to talk about first of all, Matt Norris. [SPEAKER_03]: On April 29th is Matt's birthday. [SPEAKER_03]: So happy birthday, Matt. [SPEAKER_01]: Happy birthday, Matt.

[SPEAKER_01]: Happy birthday, Matt. [SPEAKER_01]: And to the O to the R-R-I-S. [SPEAKER_01]: Happy birthday. [SPEAKER_01]: Next up, we have snazzy O. Snazzy O's birthday is May 1st. [SPEAKER_01]: Big, big, happy birthday to snazzy O. Snazzy O, happy birthday O. [SPEAKER_03]: Happy O birthday O snazio.

[SPEAKER_03]: Happy birthday. [SPEAKER_03]: Poetry time from morning. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, with a little Limerick. [SPEAKER_03]: I've got a Limerick, Limerico. [SPEAKER_03]: Here we go. [SPEAKER_03]: Limerico us in the end quirk learned how to care having a conscience is what he would dare with a license restored.

[SPEAKER_03]: He got his reward and ramen lita will make a beautiful pair. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, thank you. [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you very much. [SPEAKER_01]: Here's my high cool. [SPEAKER_01]: For this episode, a fringy love songs. [SPEAKER_01]: What has moody done? [SPEAKER_01]: Zeki is in the closet. [SPEAKER_01]: Do not mess with love.

[SPEAKER_01]: Mmm, nice. [SPEAKER_01]: Zeke, Zeke, yes. [SPEAKER_01]: That's what she called him, right? [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, that's her name. [SPEAKER_01]: That was her little eye. [SPEAKER_01]: Zeke, name, for him. [SPEAKER_00]: Zeke, Zeke. [SPEAKER_03]: So, etymology time. [SPEAKER_04]: Etymology time.

[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, please. [SPEAKER_04]: So I have two words that I've done etymology on. [SPEAKER_04]: The first one, surprisingly, is for Engey. [SPEAKER_04]: Uh, very surprised. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, for Engey, it's not a made up word. [SPEAKER_04]: Franki is word-deprived from the Persian foreign gay, or Franki, which historically referred to the German Franks that Franks were a tribe in Germany, and gradually came to mean any Western European white person, Christian, and [SPEAKER_04]: or general foreigner in parts of the Middle East, southern Asia and Ethiopia.

[SPEAKER_04]: So, the Islamic Guard in Iran, Americans are called to the Islamic Guard in Iran, Americans are called for ranking. [SPEAKER_01]: Still with a minute. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: So, Arman, is this a slur? [SPEAKER_01]: Is it a slur? [SPEAKER_04]: Is it a slur? [SPEAKER_04]: I'm not sure it's a slur.

[SPEAKER_04]: I hadn't my research didn't go that far. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay. [SPEAKER_04]: But it does mean the other means not one of us. [SPEAKER_04]: Totally. [SPEAKER_04]: It means something outside. [SPEAKER_04]: So, oh, my lord. [SPEAKER_01]: Wow. [SPEAKER_04]: That's the term the other means in English.

[SPEAKER_04]: I would imagine Faranghi is the same in Persian speaking countries. [SPEAKER_04]: Wow. [SPEAKER_04]: And not just Persians being countries. [SPEAKER_04]: All the countries I mentioned a moment ago. [SPEAKER_04]: So it is a real word. [SPEAKER_04]: And it means foreigner. [SPEAKER_04]: And well, God bless the writers in TNG because they created it that they did this research and found this word.

[SPEAKER_01]: Well, thank you for that. [SPEAKER_03]: My goodness. [SPEAKER_03]: I can't believe that we've gotten this far. [SPEAKER_03]: It's far without theories and not talked about the origin of that word. [SPEAKER_01]: Because that's never been in a title. [SPEAKER_01]: Has it? [SPEAKER_04]: That's wow, so wow.

[SPEAKER_04]: I've always known this to some extent, but because it was in the title, I thought I'd share it. [SPEAKER_04]: Wow, wow. [SPEAKER_04]: Now there is another word in the title. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, yes. [SPEAKER_04]: Love. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, and it is from the old English Lufu and or from the High German Luba and the two definitions that I have is that disposition or state of feeling with regard to a person which arising from recognition of attractive qualities from instincts of natural relationship or from sympathy [SPEAKER_04]: Manifest sits itself in solicitude for the welfare of the object and usually also in delight of his or her presence and desire for his or her approval, the word that's a rather long but understand it's from addiction areas, it sounds like it's from addiction area and that word

[SPEAKER_04]: My second, eight, 25. [SPEAKER_04]: The second definition I have is a viewed love is viewed as an abstract quality or principle and that definition, that definition of the word was first used in 1050. [SPEAKER_04]: So it's a rather old word in the English language. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I like the original, you said Lufu was the English language for the old English old English Lufu.

[SPEAKER_01]: I like that. [SPEAKER_01]: I Lufu the Delta Flyers podcast. [SPEAKER_01]: I like that. [SPEAKER_01]: I like using that word a lot. [SPEAKER_04]: And Lufu, and if I remember the producers, the film, the producers, I think one of the characters is German writer. [SPEAKER_04]: And he does use the word Lube.

[SPEAKER_04]: Luba. [SPEAKER_04]: Luba. [SPEAKER_04]: And that, so it's possible, it comes from the High German Luba. [SPEAKER_01]: Which is also interesting, Norman, because in Russian love is Luba, Luba means love. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: It's how you say love in Russian. [SPEAKER_01]: So at Luba, the German German way of saying it is very similar.

[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe that is the origin of the Russian Luba, Germanic tribe, who knows, right? [SPEAKER_03]: What is the, I wonder what the Latin word for love is. [SPEAKER_03]: beyond my research. [SPEAKER_03]: Sorry. [SPEAKER_03]: Let me see if I can. [SPEAKER_03]: Latin is a more. [SPEAKER_03]: Of course, yes.

[SPEAKER_01]: Of course it is. [SPEAKER_01]: Of course. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: A more. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: A more interesting. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay. [SPEAKER_04]: A more would be the French-derative as well. [SPEAKER_04]: Italian commodity. [SPEAKER_01]: Emory. [SPEAKER_01]: Emory.

[SPEAKER_04]: Emory. [UNKNOWN]: Emory. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, here we go. [SPEAKER_01]: Wow. [SPEAKER_01]: This is so crazy. [SPEAKER_01]: We have a Patreon submitted poetry winner. [SPEAKER_01]: Very exciting. [SPEAKER_01]: Wow. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's a new, yes, new. [SPEAKER_03]: Sorry, Robbie. [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, yeah, there it is.

[SPEAKER_03]: Okay. [SPEAKER_03]: Okay. [SPEAKER_03]: Here is our Patreon submitted poetry winner. [SPEAKER_03]: Our first new category. [SPEAKER_03]: Here we go. [SPEAKER_03]: This is submitted by Faroza meta. [SPEAKER_03]: It is a high coup and Faroza wrote this poem. [SPEAKER_03]: never trust in love, unless it multiplies bars of Latin them.

[SPEAKER_03]: Ooh. [SPEAKER_04]: Very good for Rosa. [SPEAKER_03]: Very good. [SPEAKER_03]: Rosa. [SPEAKER_00]: Good job, Rosa. [SPEAKER_00]: That was great. [SPEAKER_00]: It was actually very good. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: The Patreon submitted poetry honorable mention is a lemric.

[SPEAKER_01]: is a lemric submitted by Alex Ray and I love that Robby read the Hiku and now I am reading the lemric. [SPEAKER_01]: Here we go. [SPEAKER_01]: With voles on the loose, cork with draws, Lida is about to have new in-laws. [SPEAKER_01]: Ishka helped Zek to think the fringy economy is brought to the brink with just one episode between this and business as usual, our MVP is obviously Kitty Swink.

[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, nice Alex, nice. [SPEAKER_03]: I love that we got Kitty in a yes. [SPEAKER_01]: I will tell her she'll be thrilled really. [SPEAKER_01]: She will be. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: With those in the loose cork withdrawals, Leeda is about to have new in laws. [SPEAKER_01]: Ishka helps Zek to think the fringy economy is brought to the brink with just one episode between this and business as usual.

[SPEAKER_01]: R MVP is obviously Kitty's wink. [SPEAKER_01]: a lot of feeling that last dance of it. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, listening to that poem, I realize there is something, I mean, we talk about missing scenes, but there's a missing scene that I hadn't thought about. [SPEAKER_04]: If Ron is so excited to tell Quark about his engagement, wouldn't he have also told his mother yet that's now.

[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, my god. [SPEAKER_01]: And they had her on set too. [SPEAKER_01]: They could have told me used her. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh my goodness. [SPEAKER_01]: I haven't thought of that [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: That's a good call. [SPEAKER_01]: Good call. [SPEAKER_01]: And that is a missing scene.

[SPEAKER_01]: You're right. [SPEAKER_01]: You are right. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: So this episode is written by I was Stephen Bear and Hans Bymler. [SPEAKER_01]: Interesting enough, the working title of this episode was how Quark acquired his groove back, which is in reference to the film, how Stella got her groove back.

[SPEAKER_01]: That was the working title. [SPEAKER_01]: This is the episode directed by Renee Obersherla. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, did such a great job. [SPEAKER_01]: I think he did. [SPEAKER_01]: He really did. [SPEAKER_01]: We have guest stars, Sicily Adams as is. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, so this is after Andrea Martin's departure.

[SPEAKER_01]: We had the, the low down on that from Armin. [SPEAKER_01]: The make-up was given for low down on Sicily as well. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, great, fabulous. [SPEAKER_01]: But because of the issues with make-up, we all know that Andrea Martin did not continue as is. [SPEAKER_01]: Sicily Adams took over.

[SPEAKER_01]: Now, interestingly enough, I started doing some research on Sicily Adams, she's primarily a casting director. [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, that's one of her big, he was the casting director of that 70 show. [SPEAKER_01]: That's huge. [SPEAKER_01]: She did that.

[SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: Robbie, she was the, the casting director of that 70 show, a huge show, and another show too. [SPEAKER_01]: Third rock from the sun. [SPEAKER_01]: So, there's a huge, huge, big, big network shows, I mean, that's one of her. [SPEAKER_01]: careers, I suppose. [SPEAKER_01]: But as an actress, she filled in for this role and continued to fill in for this role after this married to Jim Beaver from Zimbe.

[SPEAKER_01]: Jim Beaver was her husband. [SPEAKER_01]: Passed away unfortunately in 2004 to lung cancer. [SPEAKER_04]: Two to early. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, much generally. [SPEAKER_01]: I think she was 46 at the time, something like that. [SPEAKER_04]: She had just had a child there for the child. [UNKNOWN]: Wow.

[SPEAKER_01]: All right. [SPEAKER_03]: They were neighbors of mine, Jim. [SPEAKER_01]: Really? [SPEAKER_03]: Possibly. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we're gonna do it right in the dark. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, they lived down there back in the day. [SPEAKER_01]: Did you did you interact with them back then? [SPEAKER_03]: I did see them a bit and I worked with Jim a couple of times But I know Arm and you had a good relationship.

[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, we had a very very solid and it was a very close friendship [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: So because of that, when Sessley had the audition, she called me up and said, I had the audition to play your mom, I said, come on over to the house. [SPEAKER_04]: So she came over, we worked on it for a couple of hours and I was very pleased to find out that she got the role.

[SPEAKER_04]: Oh wow. [SPEAKER_04]: That's all. [SPEAKER_04]: That's great. [SPEAKER_01]: You basically, it was a personal coaching session. [SPEAKER_04]: It was personal coaching and and to that. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: My wife, who knew I was getting ready for this episode, said that Sessley was the finest acting coach she ever had.

[SPEAKER_04]: Really? [SPEAKER_04]: That's being casting director. [SPEAKER_04]: She was an acting coach. [SPEAKER_04]: She helped people audition for sitcoms, which was her forte. [SPEAKER_04]: And Kitty said, every time Cecilia coached her for sitcom audition, she got the role. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh my goodness.

[SPEAKER_04]: Now, we all know that's partly coincidence, but also just Cecilia's knowledge of how to approach sitcom material. [SPEAKER_01]: But also, she's literally a Jackie of all trades to be able to act well, to be able to cast well, to be able to coach well. [SPEAKER_04]: My goodness. [SPEAKER_04]: And she was extremely attentive.

[SPEAKER_04]: Mom, while the baby was first born. [SPEAKER_04]: And she'd wipe door knobs on the house with people touch them. [SPEAKER_04]: So the baby wouldn't catch any germs. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh my goodness. [SPEAKER_04]: But a lovely lady, and the relationship between her and Wallace Sean was genuine and real, and they really loved working with each other.

[SPEAKER_01]: So they had worked with each other before? [SPEAKER_04]: Or, you know, that was the first of it. [SPEAKER_04]: It became, it became very obvious of their fondness for each other. [SPEAKER_04]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_04]: We are very close friends. [SPEAKER_04]: We, Kitty and Sessley had a mutual friend that brought them together, and it was just this group of ladies that were very, very, very tight, Sessley and Kitty were both part of that group.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's just so sad to hear, you know, that's such an early age to pass. [SPEAKER_04]: In your research, did you, uh, do any, uh, did was anything about her genealogy? [SPEAKER_04]: Do you know anything about that? [SPEAKER_01]: I did read it. [SPEAKER_01]: Why don't you say it? [SPEAKER_01]: Go ahead.

[SPEAKER_04]: So, uh, her father is Don Adams. [SPEAKER_04]: Don Adams, the comic from, uh, uh, Oh God, that's smart. [SPEAKER_03]: It's smart. [SPEAKER_03]: It's smart. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, the lead. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: And, and he came to visit one day on the set. [SPEAKER_04]: I was not taken with Don Adams.

[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, he was very ugly to his daughter. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, no! [SPEAKER_00]: Really? [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, that's sad to hear, and it was a very difficult relationship between father and daughter. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, we also have, of course, Max Grudenshek is wrong, Chase Masterson is leader, tiny run, as Mayhard Du, Hamilton Camp, as Leck, Jeffrey Combs, as Brunt, Wallace Sean, as Zeck, and I'm sorry, Armin, I did not know if you wanted to say anything else, regarding Sicily and I went on.

[SPEAKER_01]: So, is it? [SPEAKER_04]: No, I would probably say things about Sicily during the course of the podcast, but I do want to say something about Hamilton Camp. [SPEAKER_04]: of course Hamilton camp is a was because he's passed away. [SPEAKER_04]: In fact, I have his moral card over there on my show.

[SPEAKER_04]: It was an incredible comic performer, did a lot of brilliant performances both on stage and on film. [SPEAKER_04]: Hamilton and I [SPEAKER_04]: And Mark Alimo all did a film prior to Star Trek where Mark pretty much played a character that was like Goldocard and I pretty much played a character that was close to Quark.

[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, and Hamilton was very funny. [SPEAKER_04]: And a little his scene is rather short in this episode. [SPEAKER_04]: He comes back in a future for Frankie episode and you will see his comic talents in that. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh wow. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_04]: Very funny and a name to reckon with in the theater at one time when I was a young man.

[SPEAKER_04]: Wow. [SPEAKER_04]: What was the name of that film? [SPEAKER_04]: It's called Arena. [SPEAKER_04]: Arena was this science fiction movie about a boxers. [SPEAKER_04]: and it took me to we took all of us to Italy for two months where we all bonded. [SPEAKER_04]: In fact, Mark Aligno and I were attached at the hip.

[SPEAKER_04]: It was a lovely time. [SPEAKER_04]: And I got to know Hamilton as well. [SPEAKER_04]: Really very well. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to watch that film. [SPEAKER_01]: So this was okay. [SPEAKER_04]: It's really very good. [SPEAKER_04]: It's really, it's a really quite bad. [SPEAKER_04]: But you're not what it is and it's not just it's not just a three of us if there's a and I've forgotten her name But a lady that also played a part that became very similar to the lead part that she played on Babylon five.

[SPEAKER_01]: Oh Well, I definitely want to find out my goodness. [SPEAKER_01]: What year was this? [SPEAKER_01]: 19 1990 something like that. [UNKNOWN]: Yeah [SPEAKER_03]: Alright, let's dive into the episode. [SPEAKER_03]: We start out on the promenade. [SPEAKER_03]: Quark is pacing outside of his bar.

[SPEAKER_03]: He's very depressed in this scene. [SPEAKER_03]: We learn bowls of infested the bar and security's trying to kill them. [SPEAKER_03]: I feel bad for the poor bowls. [SPEAKER_03]: Because we've seen bowls now. [SPEAKER_03]: They're not little like mice or anything, kind of rodents. [SPEAKER_01]: They're big.

[SPEAKER_01]: They're like three times a size of a rat. [SPEAKER_01]: They're huge. [SPEAKER_03]: They're at least at least at least. [SPEAKER_03]: They're like a dog, like a medium sized dog. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, almost. [SPEAKER_01]: Robbie, were you confused in the very beginning? [SPEAKER_01]: The opening shot, it's of cork pacing.

[SPEAKER_01]: And then you see some phasor shots behind a closed door, okay? [SPEAKER_01]: I thought my first... [SPEAKER_01]: the bars closed doors right the bars closed but i did outside the bar right i did not think that i know where you're at and you're outside the bars closed but my first thought the way it was shot i thought that was a hollow hollow sweet and someone was playing a you know they were playing a simulation in there and you were i thought that too for a second you did because it wasn't oriented yeah i wasn't oriented there to where we were in the world a big wide shot to open would have helped so we could have seen quirk pacing outside the bar and then kind of through it [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not trying to nitpick.

[SPEAKER_01]: I just want to just say that that's something that I was like, what? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's this. [SPEAKER_01]: I had a step back for a second to understand what was happening with it. [SPEAKER_03]: And I noticed Armin in this that you rubbed your lobes. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, no, I rubbed the floor.

[SPEAKER_03]: He's for his forehead, I guess. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I don't have something to say about that after you finish. [SPEAKER_04]: Go ahead. [SPEAKER_03]: I like that. [SPEAKER_03]: I like that you're using the prosthetic in a way as if it were your anatomy in a way. [SPEAKER_03]: I like that and doesn't happen often with, well, they're not, and I'll tell you why.

[SPEAKER_04]: If you look at that shot, you can see the makeup moving. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Really? [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: I agree with you. [SPEAKER_04]: It was a good choice. [SPEAKER_04]: And I didn't know the makeup was moving because I couldn't see it. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_04]: But you can see that the makeup sort of, [SPEAKER_04]: Shifting around on your head. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, that's a shit. [SPEAKER_03]: I didn't notice it, but I can't sit there. [SPEAKER_03]: I like the action. [SPEAKER_03]: I liked. [SPEAKER_03]: I wish they could have monitored that a little better so that you could do the action without the makeup giving it away because I didn't see it, but I like the action.

[SPEAKER_03]: It was great. [SPEAKER_03]: But Dak shows up. [SPEAKER_03]: She tries to comfort him. [SPEAKER_03]: He says, you know, it'll all be over soon. [SPEAKER_03]: He can get back to his life. [SPEAKER_03]: but he says he hates his life. [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, what did you think of that scene, Armin?

[SPEAKER_04]: I like my performance. [SPEAKER_04]: I actually, I'll start now. [SPEAKER_04]: I wish there had been more of why he hated his life. [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, in business as usual, which is the previous Feringue episode, [SPEAKER_04]: Um, we find out that he's just come out even that he's just made up with debts, but he's not really ahead.

[SPEAKER_04]: And now, of course, the bulls have invested this station, so he's losing money and things are going badly. [SPEAKER_04]: And I, I really thought that's a genuine concern that they could have dealt with more seriously and not calmly. [SPEAKER_03]: Well it's funny that you bring that up because I'll say globally for me that was my only problem with this episode is that there was not highs and lows of drama and comedy.

[SPEAKER_03]: It was all sort of played shot. [SPEAKER_03]: It was played as farce. [SPEAKER_03]: And you've mentioned that before with the Feringy that they don't take them seriously. [SPEAKER_03]: The writers don't take them seriously or directors don't or whatever. [SPEAKER_03]: And I saw it in this episode.

[SPEAKER_03]: That's my only complaint because I love the story, I love the performances except that often some of the other actors you were playing the heavier moments, but some of the other actors weren't, and so it didn't have the same stakes. [SPEAKER_03]: And it wasn't shot, you know, everybody was kind of playing Faranghi's or Fars.

[SPEAKER_03]: And so the whole thing was played for comedy. [SPEAKER_03]: And that's the only criticism of this episode. [SPEAKER_04]: And it's a huge, huge question. [SPEAKER_04]: And it's an invalid one. [SPEAKER_04]: And I watched this episode and cringed a lot of the time. [SPEAKER_04]: Like you said, not in my own performance, not in my own performance.

[SPEAKER_04]: But it is a Faranghi episode. [SPEAKER_04]: Therefore, I have to shoulder the responsibility. [SPEAKER_04]: And the characters were playing it for far. [SPEAKER_04]: And I'm sure that's the way Renee suggested that they do, especially Cecilia was brand new to the set. [SPEAKER_04]: But even so, I cringed it a lot of this episode.

[SPEAKER_03]: Well, that's a shame. [SPEAKER_03]: Because I overall actually liked this episode a lot. [SPEAKER_03]: And if there had been those highs and lows, if moments had real stakes and drama and pathos and all of that, then I think I would have rated this a very high episode. [SPEAKER_03]: You know, I didn't have a lot of criticisms, but that is a big one that just continued throughout.

[SPEAKER_03]: And I think the writers, it starts with the writing because it kind of leans into the silliness a little too much. [SPEAKER_03]: Then I think the actors take that cue and run with it and amplify it, which is not helpful. [SPEAKER_03]: And then if the director is not... [SPEAKER_03]: shooting both styles, the comedy moments as comedy and the drama moments as having stakes in emotion, then everybody's sort of amplifying each other and it's, it's not helpful.

[SPEAKER_04]: And they add to that. [SPEAKER_04]: And really, this episode doesn't bear all this discussion, but they add to that, the set design for the fringy living quarters for Zech's presence room, they were all enormously comical. [SPEAKER_04]: It's something out of a ride out of Disneyland that they look like.

[SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_03]: Which is a shame because the exterior for Frankenorm. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I love the exterior. [SPEAKER_04]: I love the exterior and I will talk about that later. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay. [SPEAKER_04]: I love the exterior, but the interiors were what really? [SPEAKER_04]: That looks like it's a small world.

[SPEAKER_04]: It's like it's a small world. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Can I please interject? [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: I am the dissenting opinion here. [SPEAKER_01]: I felt that there was more realism in these performances. [SPEAKER_01]: from the friki than any other, I know you guys are, your eyes are getting big, but I don't have the same quams that both of you have with this.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I think I was even bare awesome at quams with it being a little too cartoonish, but I did not. [SPEAKER_01]: I really enjoyed this episode a lot. [SPEAKER_01]: As far as the interiors, as far as the interiors go, I don't think that is a pro, you can share that, a pit you guys can feel that it's too Disneyland or whatever, but I will then present to you, [SPEAKER_01]: look at fringy clothing, how colorful it is.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be as colorful inside the homes as well. [SPEAKER_01]: So I have no issue with that either. [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm the opposite of you, too. [SPEAKER_01]: I, I, I, I, I, I do not feel that way whatsoever. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm not going to argue with you to your point. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, the fringy costumes are very colorful and, and lots of different colors.

[SPEAKER_04]: But look at quarks bedroom. [SPEAKER_04]: It's just one paint. [SPEAKER_04]: It's just a wall with paint on it. [SPEAKER_04]: with little tiny doors I understand the little tiny doors. [SPEAKER_04]: It's a gag that I got. [SPEAKER_04]: It's a little overdone. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, even the franky have to do.

[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, even the franky have to do. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, even the franky have to do. [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, you could see him. [SPEAKER_04]: He's in pain when he goes through. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: I wanted it to look like every other interior that I've seen on any stretch.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think they had the time to finish it in a way. [SPEAKER_01]: I think it was right. [SPEAKER_01]: It felt like it was what it was. [SPEAKER_01]: So that felt like it felt like it felt half-baked. [SPEAKER_01]: But overall, I don't have the same critique of this episode that you do, so I'm sorry.

[SPEAKER_03]: With my critique by the way, I still really enjoyed it. [SPEAKER_03]: So, okay, we'll see what the ratings are at the end. [SPEAKER_03]: Okay. [SPEAKER_03]: Well, we go to Corx Quarters next. [SPEAKER_03]: He's still depressed. [SPEAKER_03]: Rom comes in though to give him big news. [SPEAKER_03]: Quarked out something went to live.

[SPEAKER_03]: Please learn. [SPEAKER_03]: And Ram, you know, comforts him a bit and says, there's one person that's always been there for you. [SPEAKER_03]: They don't say her name, but we know he's talking about mom. [SPEAKER_03]: talking about muggie in the scene. [SPEAKER_03]: So rom and leader are getting married.

[SPEAKER_03]: Big news. [SPEAKER_03]: Boy, that, that went fast. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, that went fast. [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, in a show where they gradually do everything with the arcs, gradually creep along until they flourish, which is a [SPEAKER_04]: They're brilliant at that and knowing, you know, to just let enough information and let things grow.

[SPEAKER_04]: This relationship between Alita and Ram just appears out of nowhere. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm happy for both of them. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm happy for the characters. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm happy for the actors. [SPEAKER_04]: But it did seem to come out of nowhere. [SPEAKER_04]: It did seem quick, but I feel like there have been, there have been moments.

[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, yes. [SPEAKER_04]: We've seen them in the bar association. [SPEAKER_04]: We've seen them sort of look at each other lovingly. [SPEAKER_04]: And the one with Bob Cardo, you know, we know that as well. [SPEAKER_04]: It just came out of nowhere. [SPEAKER_04]: But they've been setting it up.

[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they've been giving us little morsels that they've been doing. [SPEAKER_01]: We haven't seen and love each other. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, we haven't seen a lot of reference to they like each other a lot. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: and then you have to assume off camera they've had lots of time but we just haven't would have been nice to see those stories right because the romance growing from from just crush and in factuation too.

[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, let's get married. [SPEAKER_03]: We sort of skipped over that part. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: Well, we go to Moogie's house. [SPEAKER_03]: I did write down that it's raining there all the time. [SPEAKER_03]: Why don't you guys have umbrellas and raincoats. [SPEAKER_01]: No, whatever.

[SPEAKER_01]: No, we have towels. [SPEAKER_01]: They see the towels at the door. [SPEAKER_01]: They pat themselves down with that. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, there he's there ready for that. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, but it's funny that you bring that up Roby because my thought was man the Frankie must have the best rain boots of all like galoshes, you know, they must make superior rain gear.

[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, of course comes in, it goes right to Ishka Tamugi and he needs a hug and I wrote down new actress because I had forgotten this happened, but yes, we talked about Cecilia Adams. [SPEAKER_03]: She's wonderful on this. [SPEAKER_01]: She is. [SPEAKER_01]: She's very good. [SPEAKER_01]: Question for you, Armin.

[SPEAKER_01]: Initially when we had Andrew Martin, when we reviewed that episode, you were talking about how disappointed you were in the makeup that they put on her. [SPEAKER_01]: How horrible it looked, it just didn't look good. [SPEAKER_01]: Do you approve of this makeup or did you know? [SPEAKER_01]: No, this one you didn't like.

[SPEAKER_04]: The makeup on her and Zek is too much. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: It almost doesn't look for Engie sometimes. [SPEAKER_04]: It doesn't look real at all. [SPEAKER_04]: You really have to, it doesn't look real at all. [SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: I do agree with you.

[SPEAKER_01]: If they made for Engie's age gracefully, that would have been much better. [SPEAKER_01]: Instead of literally everything is drooping off like a candle wax, just like that. [SPEAKER_04]: now remember for any live for a long time, but even so, make it somewhat natural, so yeah, that's just only added to the pharmaceutical nature of the episode for me.

[SPEAKER_03]: When we go to the replamat next, we see Rome as wearing a bejorn earring on his uh... [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, a very big one. [SPEAKER_03]: I love the wraparound shot starting on the earring and the ear from the profile. [SPEAKER_03]: Renee is getting much bolder with his shot making, especially in this episode.

[SPEAKER_03]: I thought he did some wonderful shot design and staging and it was great. [SPEAKER_03]: This was great. [SPEAKER_03]: We see that Rama is learning about bejorm customs. [SPEAKER_03]: We learn that lead to once a traditional wedding. [SPEAKER_03]: But we also learned that Lida is not learning for angry traditions.

[SPEAKER_03]: Miles brings it up. [SPEAKER_03]: Miles says, you know, wrong, you're not a traditional for anger. [SPEAKER_03]: And you start to see this land on Rome. [SPEAKER_03]: They hadn't thought about it that way. [SPEAKER_03]: But he's starting to feel like he's, you know, failing at something here that he should be more for angry.

[SPEAKER_03]: Dax says, he's the least for angry for anger. [SPEAKER_03]: She's ever met. [SPEAKER_01]: I love that line. [SPEAKER_01]: That's my line. [SPEAKER_01]: But at least for angry like for angry. [SPEAKER_01]: I love that. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and it's you know, it's meant to be a compliment.

[SPEAKER_04]: It's, it's, it's very DAX like to say that it's a compliment. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: It's just how Rom takes it. [SPEAKER_04]: I found that good. [SPEAKER_04]: I found that very good. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: I feel like when, when DAX says, well, a traditional, for any, would never marry a non-forangi because, uh, [SPEAKER_03]: he couldn't trust her, that that was a little bit too much.

[SPEAKER_03]: I felt like that line when Dax is like, basically saying, you can't trust Lida, you know, putting that in his head. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's, it's, it's Dax and Miles that are putting these thoughts into, into Rob's head. [SPEAKER_04]: You know, it's not Rob doing it. [SPEAKER_04]: It's, it's, it's, it's the series regular is doing it to the current character.

[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, felt a little heavy handed to me in this scene, you know, that they were putting such clear suspicion in his mind and that they were unaware of it. [SPEAKER_03]: I felt like that. [SPEAKER_03]: I-I-I- [SPEAKER_03]: balked at that a little bit. [SPEAKER_03]: Like you would know that you're overstepping.

[SPEAKER_03]: You could sense it from him and you might try to, you know, correct your paranoia or something, but they didn't. [SPEAKER_03]: And they're trying to be nice. [SPEAKER_04]: They're trying to be nice. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: So we go to Ishka's house. [SPEAKER_03]: We go to Moogie's house.

[SPEAKER_03]: Korks says he wants to stay until he feels better. [SPEAKER_03]: She does bring up that they've never really gotten along, but she is his mother. [SPEAKER_03]: So of course he [SPEAKER_03]: when he gets in his room, he comments that Mugi took all his stuff down. [SPEAKER_03]: Where's his action figures?

[SPEAKER_03]: Which I thought was very funny. [SPEAKER_03]: The action figure reference, especially since you had an action figure at this point. [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, yes. [SPEAKER_03]: Maradamo. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, which immediately made me think of Robbie and Major Matt Mason, all the mwards here, Marauder.

[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, Major Matt Mason was my favorite action figure when I was a little kid. [SPEAKER_01]: But look at the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the iteration. [SPEAKER_03]: Major Mason, Marauder, Moe. [SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_03]: And yeah, there you go. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: And well, they're Marauder, Moe has a blue whip.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: We see it later on. [SPEAKER_01]: It's like a, it's a plasma whip, right? [SPEAKER_01]: It's a, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: The light's successful. [SPEAKER_04]: Prop. [SPEAKER_04]: I am. [SPEAKER_03]: It feels like they took another action, like two or three action figures and pulled them apart and put it back together into one sort of Frankenstein to action figure later on.

[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: All right. [SPEAKER_03]: So, he doesn't seem around or mo, can't find his action figure, so it goes to throw his bag in the closet. [SPEAKER_03]: I love how you open the door, toss the bag in, and then Zach and Mayhard, too, we're standing there. [SPEAKER_03]: But you shut the door, and then you think that it's...

[SPEAKER_03]: Did you see what you just thought you saw? [SPEAKER_03]: It was very funny. [SPEAKER_03]: You open the door again, and it's Zach. [SPEAKER_03]: It's the grand-negas, and my hard-do. [SPEAKER_03]: Negas says, you know, what are you doing here, Quark? [SPEAKER_03]: You've been banned. [SPEAKER_03]: Get out of here.

[SPEAKER_03]: So, um... [SPEAKER_04]: and that's wrong uh uh you know i'm quibbling now but yeah i've been banned from doing business but yeah it's just a band about visiting your mother yeah that's true that's true but he's desperate he's been busted he's desperate he's just yeah he's just trying to get you out of there anyway can [SPEAKER_01]: I just imagine Tiny Ron on the other side of that, um, in the closet as he stands up he's taller like he's taller than the actual set wall.

[SPEAKER_04]: I'm sure he was and there he was. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, you could see sometimes where he's suffering. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, totally. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: It's too tough. [SPEAKER_04]: I was he. [SPEAKER_03]: I did say seven feet. [SPEAKER_01]: Close. [SPEAKER_01]: He might not close to seven.

[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: He could be seven one. [SPEAKER_03]: It's possible. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: Well, we go back and to the main room. [SPEAKER_03]: Quark thinks Moogie did something wrong. [SPEAKER_03]: She's in trouble. [SPEAKER_03]: And then she calls for Zach off camera from the bedroom.

[SPEAKER_03]: Um, Zach comes in. [SPEAKER_03]: He says that Moogie and him are in love. [SPEAKER_03]: Of course, his head hurts. [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, my God. [SPEAKER_03]: That's funny. [SPEAKER_01]: This is where Zach he comes out. [SPEAKER_00]: Zachy. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: Come out. [SPEAKER_01]: The pet name is, yeah.

[SPEAKER_01]: And the abbreviated name is there. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's funny, like, even this, like, creating the stakes, creating stakes and, you know, the danger that Quark might feel when everything is intermixed with the comedy and the shots are all kind of in the wide sitcomy shots and the set looks flat like a sitcom set.

[SPEAKER_03]: You're right, we don't ever feel like there's highs and lows. [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know how's to put it, but, you know, drama contrasting with the comedic moments. [SPEAKER_03]: That would have been a [SPEAKER_04]: I think so. [SPEAKER_04]: I think that there are lots of conflicts that arise in this episode, and they are mentioned, they are dealt with briefly, and then they're forgotten.

[SPEAKER_04]: This is one of the, you know, the fact that Zech's hiding in the closet, because he doesn't want to be seen by anybody who's at the door turns out to be quark, everybody should be more aware of how delicate the situation is, that their relationship is being discovered. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_04]: And to, you know, it's no secret that Quark and Mugi don't get along. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: And he's a pharyngee. [SPEAKER_03]: You can't trust him. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: And they've literally just said it in the scene before when she says, I know we never got along.

[SPEAKER_03]: And so, yeah, there could have been some drama here that just got sort of glossed under this. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: And there's a number. [SPEAKER_04]: This is some major ones [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: At the end of that scene, Zack says, you see Quark, your mother and I are in love.

[SPEAKER_03]: And I think we go out on Quark at the end of that coming back after the commercial in the old days. [SPEAKER_03]: I liked the way that Renee transitioned back into the act. [SPEAKER_03]: He had you sitting down onto a, you know, kind of re-establishing some geography with a little camera movement.

[SPEAKER_03]: He sat down. [SPEAKER_03]: He pans over to [SPEAKER_03]: like top-notch, very subtle stuff, but it's the kind of directing that makes everything feel very smooth and elegant, and I just want to keep commenting on that, because I thought this was the best directing that Renee had done. [SPEAKER_03]: Even though I do think he missed some of these dramatic moments where he could have been in the theater.

[SPEAKER_04]: And the writers didn't help him in that. [SPEAKER_01]: That's what I'm saying. [SPEAKER_04]: You can't shoot something that isn't on the page. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: But in terms of transition scenes or moments, he really knocked it out of the park. [SPEAKER_01]: He knocked out of the wall.

[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: Very smart, very visually elegant, very thoughtful. [SPEAKER_03]: I thought it was great. [SPEAKER_03]: And the camera work, you know, I don't know. [SPEAKER_03]: I want to guess that he and Jonathan West talked about some of these scenes. [SPEAKER_03]: Renee had some ideas, but Jonathan, the operators, they all participated in making these shots.

[SPEAKER_03]: These transitions really good. [SPEAKER_03]: I think the camera department did a great job. [SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, Mugen Zechtel, their meet-cute story. [SPEAKER_03]: It was a Tongo Championship. [SPEAKER_03]: Zecht was kind of struggling. [SPEAKER_03]: He got some advice from Mugen afterwards.

[SPEAKER_03]: He said, [SPEAKER_03]: he was shocked and it will see that this was a woman that was giving him all this great advice and they've been in love ever since and Zack does say in the scene though don't tell anybody and we get a lot of PDA in the scene but all ton of PDA what is PDA forgive me public public displays of a affection no yeah a lot of kissing and [SPEAKER_03]: Canoodling, canoodling, canoodling.

[SPEAKER_03]: Yes. [SPEAKER_03]: Nogging is the bridge, say. [SPEAKER_01]: Snogging? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there you go. [SPEAKER_03]: Yes. [SPEAKER_03]: A lot of sexual and new endowed, too, between these two. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Armen lobekins is in this scene. [SPEAKER_01]: So Ishka calls Zack lobekins.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, lobekins. [SPEAKER_01]: And earlier, I said Zacky was in a reviation of Zack. [SPEAKER_01]: And that is incorrect. [SPEAKER_01]: It is the extension of it. [SPEAKER_01]: But loving form of a types of bows. [SPEAKER_03]: Well, Zach leaves, and this is where I made a note about the low doors, these little circular doors that are so low.

[SPEAKER_03]: When Zach left, he had to duck underneath. [SPEAKER_03]: Like, why wouldn't you make it for wringy height and let other people deal with the high problem? [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it was ludicrous out. [SPEAKER_04]: I really dislike the set design. [SPEAKER_04]: Usually those guys are phenomenal, but it's like, as you said, Garrett, it's an afterthought.

[SPEAKER_03]: And I wonder, do you remember in those sets, the pharynx sets, if crew members hit their heads or people hit their heads? [SPEAKER_03]: I bet they did. [SPEAKER_04]: I don't remember any of them going through, but certainly I knew that I had to, to a duckman hit, and arguably I am the tallest for Rangie, but they had to, of course, see, come on.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he must have at the end of the day he had to go home to soak in a hot tub with some episode in salt because he was so sore and everything just trying to... [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, Tony was himself. [SPEAKER_04]: Not only had to do that, but it's tough. [SPEAKER_04]: He's in all these scenes.

[SPEAKER_04]: He never says a word really. [SPEAKER_04]: He is part of the scene, and he has to wear makeup. [SPEAKER_04]: And I would say most of the time he's underappreciated that he was a real team player and my kudos to Tony Ron for all the hard work that he did. [SPEAKER_01]: On my second watch of this, I watched Tony Ron in every scene, just his always acting.

[SPEAKER_01]: But he's still emoting, he's still acting. [SPEAKER_01]: He's still doing his, he's staying involved, and he's present, so kudos to him. [SPEAKER_01]: I really felt that, you know, he stayed with it. [SPEAKER_04]: I would guess that this is another episode where I worked at home and I know the tiny ROM in episodes that he had no words in, he would come to our rehearsals and stay there all day.

[SPEAKER_01]: Wow. [SPEAKER_01]: Wow. [SPEAKER_01]: That's incredible. [SPEAKER_01]: That's devotion. [SPEAKER_01]: That really is. [SPEAKER_03]: Well at the end of the scene when Zach leaves, we expect that he's going to be very upset about this, but he's not. [SPEAKER_03]: He's thrilled. [SPEAKER_03]: He's not just thrilled for Moogie.

[SPEAKER_03]: He says he's thrilled for all of them, which I thought was very funny. [SPEAKER_03]: He says, give you a hard time. [SPEAKER_03]: You and Naga's, I couldn't be happier. [SPEAKER_03]: all of us. [SPEAKER_01]: He's thinking he's thinking he's not. [SPEAKER_02]: He's still a part. [SPEAKER_03]: We go to Quarks.

[SPEAKER_03]: Miles and the team have gotten all the voles out, but Ron needs an extra long lunch. [SPEAKER_03]: He needs lead at a sign this waiver of property and profit, the WP and P. Romned basically in the scene thinks he still needs some foreign key things as part of this wedding. [SPEAKER_03]: He needs to represent his foreign key side a little bit, so this waiver of profit and property and profit is going to be that.

[SPEAKER_03]: Miles is like, I don't think you should do that. [SPEAKER_03]: And Grom says, no, it's not a problem. [SPEAKER_03]: It all lead a love of me. [SPEAKER_03]: You'll see, she'll sign it. [SPEAKER_01]: So this is basically a pre-nup agreement on steroids. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, it is dream agreement.

[SPEAKER_03]: But Grom is very confident. [SPEAKER_03]: He's like, oh, this is just a little, I'm going to check the box of Ferengi, get her to sign this thing that I'll feel fine. [SPEAKER_03]: I got some Ferengi in this. [SPEAKER_03]: It doesn't even seem like he's that concerned about the money or the property at this point.

[SPEAKER_04]: And because Miles and Dax have put these thoughts into his head, he's in a sense he's protecting himself. [SPEAKER_04]: You know, if she is sort of after my money, like my first wife was, I think he'd to protect myself. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Do we know if his first wife was Franky or not?

[SPEAKER_04]: No, she had to be Franky. [SPEAKER_01]: She had to be free. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: All righty. [SPEAKER_04]: Nog is a pharyngey. [SPEAKER_04]: That's zero. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, we've seen this marriage. [SPEAKER_01]: She's a statue. [SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: You're right.

[SPEAKER_01]: Nog is 100% free. [SPEAKER_01]: Really question. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: Nog. [SPEAKER_01]: I forgot about Nog. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: Yikes. [SPEAKER_03]: We go to Rob's quarters next. [SPEAKER_03]: I thought this was a good cut into the scene. [SPEAKER_03]: Again, Renee doing smart stuff.

[SPEAKER_03]: because we go off of wrongs, close up, you'll see, chief, she'll sign it, and we go right to a comedy cut of leader going, are you crazy? [SPEAKER_03]: I'm not going to sign this. [SPEAKER_03]: Very funny, laughed out loud, but leader says, no, she's not going to sign it. [SPEAKER_03]: And this is where wrong brings up his first wife that she was just after his money.

[SPEAKER_03]: And leader says, no, I'm not after your latinum. [SPEAKER_03]: I love you. [SPEAKER_03]: and he says, well, then prove it, sign the thing. [SPEAKER_03]: She goes, no, I'm not signing it. [SPEAKER_03]: He calls off the wedding over it. [SPEAKER_03]: And I think he makes that move thinking, she's gonna sign it, but she says, absolutely, the marriage is off, you bet it is, and she walks out the door, so.

[SPEAKER_03]: It's not looking good for this love story right now, is it? [SPEAKER_03]: You know, you know, four guys and boy tastes, you know, she's had some scenes before, but this is a real story. [SPEAKER_03]: I think for the, maybe the first time. [SPEAKER_03]: I don't think so. [SPEAKER_03]: I don't think he's right.

[SPEAKER_04]: But, but, but yeah, Ryzo, but, but there there was other episodes. [SPEAKER_04]: The one with Piccardo actually was a was a. Yeah, that's true. [SPEAKER_03]: This one feels like the story is just all about her and rom in a way that is leveling up from the story she's been a part of before.

[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: They are certainly interested in the lead of character and you're giving her more of. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's great. [SPEAKER_03]: And they do a Max and Chase do a great job with the story. [SPEAKER_03]: And this should have been the comedy sort of runner. [SPEAKER_03]: and your story arm and should have been some comedy but it should have had stakes yeah that was the a story should have had stakes yeah we'll get to a couple places where I thought it could have had stakes in some of the story areas in your your story where there's some real issues that could have been some real very important issues that are glossed over yeah absolutely yeah [SPEAKER_03]: We go to Ishqa's house to Moogie's house.

[SPEAKER_03]: It's after dinner. [SPEAKER_03]: I love this Sergio Leone shot with quark in between the, the nasaling and the kissing and the, you know, Zach and Ishqa in the foreground. [SPEAKER_03]: Again, great visual eye, Renee's doing some clever stuff here. [SPEAKER_03]: Quark asks Zach how is day was, [SPEAKER_03]: And Zach takes a minute, he sort of pauses to try to think about it.

[SPEAKER_03]: So this is the first clue. [SPEAKER_03]: I didn't even clock it, honestly. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean it. [SPEAKER_03]: Um, but he's trying to remember what he did that day. [SPEAKER_03]: It talks about how he was very productive that Archabyte or futures are continuing to increase boldings of agreed to a lot of foreign gaming commission to take over their operations.

[SPEAKER_03]: He goes to a list of his day. [SPEAKER_03]: So, but it takes him. [SPEAKER_03]: He sort of has to think about it, which is a nice little [SPEAKER_03]: you know, planting the seed of his memory, starting to get a little fuzzy. [SPEAKER_03]: Or kisses up to him in the seed. [SPEAKER_03]: And Zach finally says, I'm not going to reverse the FCA decision.

[SPEAKER_03]: They put it in place. [SPEAKER_03]: They're the ones that have to reverse it. [SPEAKER_03]: And Mookie agrees with him. [SPEAKER_03]: Um, and they take hands and head off to take a stroll with their hands going right over your head was so disrespectful. [SPEAKER_03]: It was a nice blocking detail, but very disrespectful.

[SPEAKER_01]: So the dinner earlier, I guess, I do like that one scene where it's necessarily like slurps up that tube grub. [SPEAKER_01]: You remember the end? [SPEAKER_01]: It was just like, oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: I wonder what that was. [SPEAKER_04]: Was it like pasta or something a little piece of probably a gummy or a gummy gummy?

[SPEAKER_01]: Like gummy gummy or fake gummy worm. [SPEAKER_01]: Fish and lure type of worm, whatever. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god. [SPEAKER_01]: It was so good. [SPEAKER_03]: We go to Quark's bedroom. [SPEAKER_03]: I'm Frank and R. Here's a sound from inside the closet, opens the door.

[SPEAKER_03]: Before that though, when he goes into the bedroom, off of Mugi and Zech with her hands going over your head and that's sort of symmetrical framing. [SPEAKER_03]: that we saw them leaving. [SPEAKER_03]: We cut to your back as you head towards the bed and plop down and it's a reverse symmetrical framing.

[SPEAKER_03]: So, we're not just at such a nice job and the camera department. [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know whose ideas they were but that transition from Zeck and Moogie leaving to you walking in and plopping on the bed. [SPEAKER_03]: Beautifully done. [SPEAKER_03]: I just want to shout out to that. [SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, you hear noise in the closet you pop up and Brunt isn't the class at this time and I noticed Arman.

[SPEAKER_03]: Franky have curvy Clothes racks. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, and I was just trying to think how does that work if you hang your clothes It doesn't it wasn't thought out it was just isn't that a funny idea. [SPEAKER_04]: Let's do that [SPEAKER_03]: You know, it looked like whoville or something.

[SPEAKER_03]: It looked very Dr. Suzy. [SPEAKER_03]: There's a lot of that. [SPEAKER_03]: But it doesn't make sense. [SPEAKER_03]: You put a hanger on the on the rack and it's going to slide my curvy part and those clothes are heavy. [SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, yes, like you just lose all of that curvy part because the clothes are not never going to stay there.

[SPEAKER_01]: Unless there's not just cut in there that you don't see. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, maybe maybe. [SPEAKER_03]: Maybe that's true. [SPEAKER_03]: Ron thinks the relationship is going to be a disaster for firing an arm for everybody and tells Quark he's the perfect person to poison this relationship.

[SPEAKER_03]: Quark thinks about it but he's like, why should I help you and bring off for him another license? [SPEAKER_03]: He'll reinstate his license or give him a new license. [SPEAKER_03]: and they make a deal and there's a funny hand shake at the end. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, we started that, not on this episode.

[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: There was a, I guess it's in business as usual. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, wow. [SPEAKER_04]: I think it was. [SPEAKER_01]: So we just are ready. [SPEAKER_01]: We've been in this and hit the back and then you hit your chest. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm not so sure about the chest, but maybe we ended up on the chest, but but certainly was the back of the hand that that had been created in business as usual.

[SPEAKER_03]: And I remember I asked you about that when we reviewed business is usual and you said you thought I thought it was it was Josh's idea, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, it was great. [SPEAKER_03]: I love the hand, you know, kind of sealing the deal. [SPEAKER_01]: I thought it was great Robby if we're on stage for Voyager reunion thing when I walk up to you.

[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to shake your hand like that. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to do it back up to the for Angi and see if anyone in the audience knows what we just did the for Angi high five. [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you high five backwards hand. [SPEAKER_04]: But it's you can see the antipathy between the two characters.

[SPEAKER_04]: I like that a lot. [SPEAKER_04]: I like the fact that even though there's a deal being made it's between two characters that don't find each other pleasant. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: I think you had some great actors to work with in this episode. [SPEAKER_03]: I just think that the tone was not monitored, you know, with enough specificity throughout.

[SPEAKER_03]: They're all good actors. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, they're all good actors. [SPEAKER_04]: They're all good, all good, wonderful actors. [SPEAKER_04]: And you can ask them to do anything and they'll do it for you. [SPEAKER_04]: What I learn in playing Quark, [SPEAKER_04]: is less is more, I learn that it's not just the character having an arc, it's the actor having an arc learning, do less arm, do less, do less, do less, be more serious.

[SPEAKER_04]: And I've learned that over the course now of four or five years. [SPEAKER_04]: The other actors are also recurring characters, but they haven't learned that lesson to the extent that I have. [SPEAKER_04]: And so they're still thinking [SPEAKER_04]: and not really dealing with the with the reality of their situation.

[SPEAKER_04]: They are comic characters, but they're also real characters. [SPEAKER_04]: And if you want them to exist on this show, especially this show, which is a gritty, dark show. [SPEAKER_04]: And yes, comedy is needed to dispel some of that, but it still has to be rooted in reality. [SPEAKER_04]: And I must say, Jeff is good at that.

[SPEAKER_04]: He's good, but he still thinks of a brunt as a care as a comic character. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I agree. [SPEAKER_03]: I think that the actors generally, when they're playing the foreignities, have been rewarded for the comedy. [SPEAKER_03]: They've been rewarded and encouraged for finding quirky broad, you know, choices as opposed to no one has been on your team, armist going, hold on.

[SPEAKER_03]: Let's make sure that we also don't miss the opportunities for grounding these moments with real [SPEAKER_03]: depth, or heart, or complexity, or stakes, and that was missing in this episode. [SPEAKER_03]: All right, next scene we go into the chamber of petitioners, Zeck is holding court there, and court may pay a visit, says how lucky Moogie is that Zeck doesn't worry at all about the rumors about her.

[SPEAKER_03]: Zeck's like, wait, what are you talking about? [SPEAKER_03]: What rumors? [SPEAKER_04]: May I interrupt? [SPEAKER_04]: Is this what the scene with Hamilton? [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, the very beginning. [SPEAKER_01]: He's. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, Hamilton's got the first. [SPEAKER_04]: It's not overlooking.

[SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay. [SPEAKER_04]: It's not much of a scene, but, but it is Hamilton's first appearance. [SPEAKER_04]: And, and I don't want to overlook Hamilton because I'm going to be a fan of his and it's literally if you're blank. [SPEAKER_01]: You're going to miss him. [SPEAKER_01]: He's the very beginning of the scene and and he can be.

[SPEAKER_01]: He basically exclaims. [SPEAKER_01]: Once again, Niggas, you have proven that you have the wisest lobes in all of Frank and R. Zix says, that's what they pay me for and then let drops that little coin in a little slot. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's all he has for this show. [SPEAKER_01]: That's his entire dialogue that's it.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: And yet he has guest start billing. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: And he deserves it. [SPEAKER_04]: He deserves it. [SPEAKER_04]: And then Quark comes in and says, I want to pay my respects. [SPEAKER_04]: I love the fact that the writers and emology wise pursued that phrase.

[SPEAKER_04]: I want to pay my respect. [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, I didn't think of that. [SPEAKER_03]: And then the biggest, like, will pay them. [SPEAKER_04]: Hey, it's the then pay that I think that's grand. [SPEAKER_04]: I think that's that's taking the words literally what they mean. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, that's so funny.

[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't even pick that up. [SPEAKER_03]: I wonder if the etymology of pay respects was like this in that that's where came from going to royalty and offering up a gift so that the you know the king or whoever would [SPEAKER_04]: would look out for you, that was that was tradition in England certainly I don't know about other countries and I'm sure perhaps that it was in other countries but and during the Christmas vacation of the the 12 days of Christmas if you went to court and you saw the king it was incumbent upon you to give the king a gift.

[SPEAKER_04]: And if you gave the king a gift that he or she liked, then they would reward you with some sort of compensation. [SPEAKER_04]: There was a lot of thought that went into these Christmas gifts. [SPEAKER_04]: They weren't just something you got at Gimbals and rammed. [SPEAKER_04]: There was really a lot of thought.

[SPEAKER_04]: What is the king like or the queen like? [SPEAKER_04]: And what can I do so that I had some advantage at court? [SPEAKER_03]: Well, I love that they brought that into the scene and in a very clever and clean way. [SPEAKER_03]: It was great. [SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, so quarks says I'm glad.

[SPEAKER_03]: I'm so happy for you guys and it's great exec that you, you know, aren't worried about all those rumors and it's like, wait, whatever rumors and quarks as well. [SPEAKER_03]: You know, that she hid money to fund a female revolution basically. [SPEAKER_03]: You go through. [SPEAKER_03]: You kind of get their slower, but you basically are saying, she's, you know, lying to you.

[SPEAKER_03]: You can't trust her and she's going to basically have all the females overthrow all the men here. [SPEAKER_04]: This is the first of the themes that were overlooked. [SPEAKER_04]: I know where this is going over the course of many years. [SPEAKER_03]: But equal rights. [SPEAKER_03]: Equal rights is at a big issue.

[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, exactly. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm sorry that they didn't take more pains with that, and so that we see what the problem is for ZEC, what is the problem for foreign society giving women equal rights. [SPEAKER_04]: We get lip service from Ishka and we get, you know, but I really wanted to see this issue addressed just as many other social issues are addressed in Star Trek.

[SPEAKER_04]: This is an important issue. [SPEAKER_04]: Don't make it just a comic [SPEAKER_03]: Well, Quark, you know, plants the seeds for the nagas to start being paranoid and then seems satisfied and says, I'll see it dinner and we see Zech wheels turning. [SPEAKER_03]: So just like miles and Dax did to ROM, Quark is doing this to try to undermine that relationship, get his license back.

[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, there's a bit of an echo there, which [SPEAKER_03]: I think is interesting. [SPEAKER_03]: We go back to Muggie's house, Quark is waiting for Ishka to return. [SPEAKER_03]: Here's her approaching, sits down, puts a phaser up to his head. [SPEAKER_03]: I love your gone with the wind performance in this.

[SPEAKER_03]: It was like Scarlet O'Hara. [SPEAKER_03]: It was good. [SPEAKER_00]: Let me lay down here with the glass [SPEAKER_04]: I seem to have the vapours. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm about to have a faint spell right now. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, good. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: It's so funny.

[SPEAKER_00]: What does he say? [SPEAKER_00]: What does he say? [SPEAKER_00]: He can't tell herself. [SPEAKER_04]: I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_03]: I like this scene. [SPEAKER_03]: This is one that could have played. [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, this is a familial scene. [SPEAKER_03]: It's a domestic, you know, mom and son. [SPEAKER_03]: This one could have played more comedy to me. [SPEAKER_03]: I didn't, I wasn't missing the heavier stuff.

[SPEAKER_03]: But definitely in the Zack scene in the Brunstein and some of those scenes, there's high stakes there in big issues. [SPEAKER_04]: Before we go any further. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, the women's rights, he says in the scene, maybe you're about to get to it, maybe I should let you do it, but you don't know what it's like not to have profit.

[SPEAKER_03]: He says, yeah, he says that she doesn't understand how it feels not to be able to earn profit. [SPEAKER_03]: And she says, oh, she does. [SPEAKER_03]: I thought it was a good idea. [SPEAKER_03]: And that's it. [SPEAKER_04]: And I would have loved to have had a little bit more conversation about that.

[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: So now, by son, do you see what the problem is? [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: I never thought of it this way. [SPEAKER_04]: There could have been just something more. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, just even a few more lines would have unpacked it a little more. [SPEAKER_03]: It just it felt like they literally just checked a box.

[SPEAKER_03]: We're going to mention this and move right on from it. [SPEAKER_03]: But she does say that she will talk to the Negus about quarks license. [SPEAKER_03]: to intercede on his behalf, and Quark is very happy, and he happily skips out. [SPEAKER_03]: I like you sort of skipping out. [SPEAKER_03]: You did have to duck under that tiny door.

[SPEAKER_03]: We go to the promenade again Renee and camera department hats off a very bold oneer, long lens walk and talk with three characters. [SPEAKER_03]: We learned that Odo has locked up Mar talk and a holding cell, [SPEAKER_03]: And then turns to Warf and says, Warren Gauron to cool it basically.

[SPEAKER_03]: And so all of that played in one long walk in talk. [SPEAKER_03]: I thought it was great, beautifully staged and elegant. [SPEAKER_04]: And remember, we're next to the director, and he's in the scene. [SPEAKER_03]: That's right, and he's in the scene. [SPEAKER_03]: Well, that's where you need good planning with your camera team.

[SPEAKER_03]: So that you're all, you know what they're shooting. [SPEAKER_03]: And if you're going to be in front of the camera, you've got to know that your plan is, is, uh, [SPEAKER_03]: is working. [SPEAKER_01]: I thought this was a weird scene because if you remember Cisco was so jazzed about having Mar-Talk be the, you know, the Klingon ambassador basically or the leader of the Klingon security detail that's assigned to the station.

[SPEAKER_01]: He was very into that and then all said in his tone in this scene is like, okay, well, someone else needs to replace him. [SPEAKER_01]: Tell get around that. [SPEAKER_01]: It's, and so it's like, what? [SPEAKER_01]: Because let's face it the reason why he's in the holding cell is he threw one of his own soldiers off the balcony who didn't die It wasn't really injured as a means of punishment for something that he did that wasn't, you know He's being a club smuff.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, whatever. [SPEAKER_01]: He's building a clean on but the bottom line is he's disciplining one of his own men And so I this whole scene to me was like what is going on? [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, if I'm in a nitpick It's gonna be the same thing. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's the be honest.

[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, that was weird to me [SPEAKER_01]: That's all. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it seems inconsistent. [SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be a little inconsistency. [SPEAKER_01]: This goes point P over. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, yeah, but it is a good commander in the sense. [SPEAKER_04]: I agree with you, Garrett, but it is a commander.

[SPEAKER_04]: He's rough with worth. [SPEAKER_04]: And he turns around as equally as rough with Odo. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, that's a good commander. [SPEAKER_04]: He's not showing sides. [SPEAKER_04]: You're you're you're both in the wrong here. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, he's very authoritative, tough. [SPEAKER_03]: And then he hears the sobbing, the crying, the gorena pillar, and there's rum working in the panel crying the whole time.

[SPEAKER_03]: Um, and I thought it was, [SPEAKER_03]: I thought it was very funny, because Cisco's got empathy here, so he was tough on war and tough on the other, and now he's very empathetic and soft with ROM, which I'd like. [SPEAKER_03]: I do get to, I do get to, ROM says the weddings off, Cisco says I'm sorry, and ROM says don't be these are tears of joy.

[SPEAKER_03]: That's when he really lets go. [SPEAKER_01]: He says tears of joy, and I get which was very good on his part, I find. [SPEAKER_03]: This is the first time I picked up on a cowardly lion vibe from, from Max, he sounded a bit like the cowardly lion to me. [SPEAKER_03]: From Wizard of Oz. [SPEAKER_03]: Don't?

[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I don't know how to imitate it, but yes. [SPEAKER_03]: I had flashbacks of Bert Larr, the cowardly lion in the movie. [SPEAKER_03]: It was great. [SPEAKER_03]: Um, Cisco says carry on from wrong continues crying. [SPEAKER_03]: And then we get another beautiful hand off from Cisco and Odo walking out up to the upper level with a oneer that hands off cranes up and turns into a 50 50.

[SPEAKER_03]: Wow. [SPEAKER_01]: What a great transition great transition. [SPEAKER_04]: That is the best shot in the in the episode. [SPEAKER_04]: That is so good. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and then picking up. [SPEAKER_01]: Sorry picking up on Lita and Kira walking talking. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god What a great scene right there.

[SPEAKER_01]: I've written super well. [SPEAKER_04]: I love this whole thing and with Kira saying no no no no no no to the very Yeah, yes And expertly played by no yes Does not want to be part of a comic episode rightfully so she is a serious character [SPEAKER_03]: uh... she's not going to be led astray she just plays it discreetly low level knows where the comedy is at the very end it saves it for the end and who knows to miss visitor no yeah yeah she did a great job basically lead us saying she hates rom she's glad you cancel wedding everything lead us that's care response no you don't know you don't know you don't and then at the very end she says uh... have you been so i think it's up [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, Lita says, have you of them been listening to me?

[SPEAKER_03]: And Kira says, yes, I have. [SPEAKER_03]: That's how I know you love him. [SPEAKER_03]: And Lita bursts into tears. [SPEAKER_03]: Simple scene. [SPEAKER_04]: Simple scene, but really expertly played by Nana. [SPEAKER_04]: My only qualm is that she takes her hand and puts her around Lita's shoulder.

[SPEAKER_04]: I don't think that's the relationship between those two characters. [SPEAKER_01]: Hmm. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Interesting valid point. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but I love the transition. [SPEAKER_01]: We go from one crying to another crying scene. [SPEAKER_03]: We have Moogie. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, Quark returns to Moogie's house.

[SPEAKER_03]: Moogie's in tears. [SPEAKER_03]: Zack Dumpter said that she was a scheming female who can't keep her clothes off. [SPEAKER_03]: Oh my. [SPEAKER_03]: She can't keep her clothes off. [SPEAKER_03]: That's, yeah, very funny. [SPEAKER_03]: I love how the writers take phrases that we're familiar with like pay respects or can't keep your clothes on or whatever and they put us been on it.

[SPEAKER_03]: They do. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's very, very fun. [SPEAKER_04]: But at this point in the episode, at this point in the series, I'm a little tired of the joke that joke about women don't wear clothes. [SPEAKER_04]: Since they're never going to show that to us. [SPEAKER_04]: We've got it, we've got it.

[SPEAKER_04]: We don't need to be reminded of it. [SPEAKER_04]: There are more interesting things, the women's rights thing. [SPEAKER_04]: We're about to find out something else that I thought was really important that they skipped over and I get to that when we get to it. [SPEAKER_04]: but the idea that women are nude, it's okay, we've got it, that joke is stale now, my mind, very, very stale.

[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I don't disagree, it feels like we've played the joke of it and now you either have to stop talking about it or show it or show it, or show it, have it be a part of a story in a bigger, in a sharper way and it's just not, yeah, it's still just a joke. [SPEAKER_01]: Armin, just a quick non-sequitor.

[SPEAKER_01]: I moderate or I'm the MC of the Mistar Trek universe pageant every year at Drak and Khan. [SPEAKER_01]: We had a entrant. [SPEAKER_01]: One of the pageant gals was a forangulated. [SPEAKER_01]: Started off with all nude, but censored signs around the top and privates, right? [SPEAKER_01]: So supposedly nude.

[SPEAKER_01]: And the the whole Danna, Danna, not that the whole stripper Burlesa song comes on. [SPEAKER_01]: And she's [SPEAKER_03]: right in the paddocks and people are just on the floor like the more close she puts on and everyone's laughing and oh my god that's great that's great that's very clever very clever yes okay um moogie says this is a disaster and she does mention here for all of us as her last words which i think is interesting because she knows [SPEAKER_03]: That Zek is forgetful.

[SPEAKER_03]: We don't know as an audience yet really, but she knows it's going to be a disaster for everybody, which I thought was a nice little detail and it's also cool that she says for all of us and corks has for all of us earlier. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, right. [SPEAKER_03]: So there's a little bit of a patch.

[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [UNKNOWN]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: Ishqa leaves and cork goes to a compad he calls brunt gives the good news and cork gets his license back so seems like cork's life is turning around and everything's good. [SPEAKER_01]: I love the end of that because after brunt's off the screen when transmission ends cork has that one line he's like always was and you see the how much he hates brunt in just that one line [SPEAKER_01]: So I like that.

[SPEAKER_04]: Thank you a bit. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I was rather rather proud of that as well. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, so good. [SPEAKER_01]: So good. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, the next morning. [SPEAKER_03]: Quark has made breakfast like when Quark says, look, life goes on. [SPEAKER_03]: There are other slugs in the sea.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: Let's see. [SPEAKER_03]: That's the tips. [SPEAKER_03]: But he's made breakfast and she says, well, that's why I know you feel guilty because you're, you know, you could breakfast for us. [SPEAKER_03]: She does say in the scene, I don't need you. [SPEAKER_03]: I don't need anyone and Quark starts to leave when the Negus calls and says, I get to the tower of commerce right away.

[SPEAKER_03]: Quark is going to leave, but it does say to Moogie here, you know, I'll do all I can to straighten things out between the two of you. [SPEAKER_03]: That's a promise. [SPEAKER_03]: It's a lie. [SPEAKER_03]: I have no. [SPEAKER_03]: I didn't like that line. [SPEAKER_03]: I wish he hadn't said that.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's who he is, that's who he is. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: But he was trying to catch himself for when she says, oh, I bet it's about me because I doubt it. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, but then it could be either way. [SPEAKER_01]: So I think it was really was the tracking a little bit trying to go extra more because he felt like I don't want to lead on.

[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want her to catch on that I was the one behind all this. [SPEAKER_04]: So yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Look to cover both bases. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: But it said, I'll do my best for you. [SPEAKER_04]: He should not have said that's a promise. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: I'll do my best.

[SPEAKER_03]: Well, we go into the chamber for petitioners and Zack off the board. [SPEAKER_04]: Which is ugly. [SPEAKER_03]: There's now it's a redress of the same side. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's obviously that and there's nothing about it except curtains in a big chair. [SPEAKER_04]: My god, we spend millions of dollars on sets and [SPEAKER_04]: This is the throne room, the presence room of the ruler of the empire, and it looks like somebody's got to convention has just made to turn it into, you know, some exhibit.

[SPEAKER_01]: Zech's chair was actually a redress of a chair that was built for Romulan captain in a prior episode. [SPEAKER_03]: So it felt like a redress when you see curtains up like that, you know, they were trying to save money. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's insulting. [SPEAKER_04]: It's insulting.

[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I agree, but Zack does offer quirk a job as his first assistant and he, that's a big deal. [SPEAKER_02]: First clerk, first big deal. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's a big deal. [SPEAKER_03]: Once him to start right now and quirk goes to open the the pad or his, you know, his device to look at what's up for the day, but Zack can't remember his access code and they go through a whole, you know, classic [SPEAKER_03]: vaudeville bit about the access code and the numbers and finally may hard to just take it, punches in the code.

[SPEAKER_03]: They talk about whatever the first petitioner is. [SPEAKER_03]: Quirk mentions his name, talks about some numbers, but that can't add up the numbers correctly. [SPEAKER_03]: And this is all all this forgetfulness with the access code. [SPEAKER_03]: Can't remember the numbers. [SPEAKER_03]: Then he can't remember the petitioner's name.

[SPEAKER_03]: He gets very scattered and Quirk is worried at the end of the scene. [SPEAKER_04]: very work because this is this is the head of the empire that you know it's time for the 25th of the men you know yes exactly well Zach even says at the end about the guy who goes who is he do I even like him I like that line that but yeah yeah well he's a wonderful actor yeah what happens when the ruler of the empire is no longer cognitively able you know this [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, this is another topic, like equal rights that needs to grab a toss and has, yeah, and didn't feel like it.

[SPEAKER_04]: And who is responsible if he's not capable, what happens is there are 25th Amendment just that, [SPEAKER_04]: there's the FCA taking him out, do the people re-elect anagus, there's all kinds of things that we could have dealt with, just briefly, this is a major thing and in the next scene we're going to find out even more, but go ahead.

[SPEAKER_03]: All right, well, we're in ROMs quarters back at DS9. [SPEAKER_03]: uh... rom is staring at his latinum two piles of latinum when the doorbell rings miles comes over basically rom wants to bribe leader to sign the wpnp he's gonna give her half of his money up front when she signs it they can get married when they get married it comes back to him anyway so it's kind of [SPEAKER_03]: It's not, it's not the greatest plan.

[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, Brian brings it up, right? [SPEAKER_01]: He's the one who's like, yeah, this is he, she could sign it. [SPEAKER_01]: You can give that away, but once she signs that, it goes right back to you. [SPEAKER_01]: So it's the same, you know, you're in the same predicament. [SPEAKER_03]: And Miles says she's never going to sign it.

[SPEAKER_03]: Brahm mentions that he do anything to have her back and his arms. [SPEAKER_04]: So here's a question. [SPEAKER_04]: We have pre-nupcial agreements. [SPEAKER_04]: That's part of our culture now. [SPEAKER_04]: He's a pharyngey. [SPEAKER_04]: Why not just sit down with her and work out a pre-nupcial agreement where she doesn't give everything back?

[SPEAKER_04]: There's a simple solution to this besides the one that they come up with. [SPEAKER_04]: It just needs two people to sit down and discuss it. [SPEAKER_03]: But I think that the thing that's never addressed directly is that what Rome is feeling is that you don't respect my foreign geiculture, that would have been a great scene.

[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, yes, it's not even about this WPNP. [SPEAKER_03]: It could be anything, but your asking me to respect your culture. [SPEAKER_03]: and where the earring and learn all these tales and do all this stuff, I need you to learn my culture. [SPEAKER_03]: I love you. [SPEAKER_03]: I want to have, you know, an equal relationship.

[SPEAKER_03]: And that could have dealt with the equal rights. [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: And it's even more... [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's it's on a dire level because I don't think she asked him to do the bajoran things He took that on his own So, yes, so he was I I don't learn how to say this.

[SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna put the earring on and then after I did all this To to show you how much I love you why don't you do something in return [SPEAKER_03]: But you're saying that earlier that he said to DAX and Miles that she wants a very traditional the Jordan wedding. [SPEAKER_01]: Jordan wedding.

[SPEAKER_01]: But the other stuff in terms of wearing the earrings and reciting the stanza, the stanza of the Jordan wedding. [SPEAKER_03]: I think that implied that she's one part of it. [SPEAKER_03]: I think that she wants a traditional, but Jordan wedding. [SPEAKER_03]: So that implies to me that she's asked him to learn some of Jordan stuff.

[SPEAKER_03]: Okay. [SPEAKER_03]: All right. [SPEAKER_03]: Traditional to have that be part of there. [SPEAKER_04]: When why doesn't she offer to do something else? [SPEAKER_04]: Okay, I won't sign contract, but I will do this. [SPEAKER_04]: I will do that. [SPEAKER_04]: And I know she doesn't sign the contract.

[SPEAKER_04]: You know, she doesn't, she doesn't seem that she's making any strides to to compromise. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: And again, it's not, it's not lead as fault. [SPEAKER_04]: It's not [SPEAKER_03]: Well, we go out to the promenade, Lita is out there at a stand selling jumpsho sticks and other snacks.

[SPEAKER_03]: And Rama approaches, tells Lita basically in the scene that he gave all of his profit to Kira for war orphans and Lita is just so impressed by this. [SPEAKER_03]: She loves him, they kiss. [SPEAKER_04]: She said, all we need is our love. [SPEAKER_04]: And then she says, in my job with quark, right?

[SPEAKER_01]: In my salary from quark. [SPEAKER_04]: And what's that? [SPEAKER_04]: Well, I hasn't quark been informed that the [SPEAKER_04]: What happened a while ago, right, a while ago. [SPEAKER_04]: She does sell a Jumje Bar 2 to mourn. [SPEAKER_04]: And I noticed, if I were there, he would have pressed a pad to tell me he paid for that.

[SPEAKER_04]: Right, but she just just gives it to him. [SPEAKER_01]: And he doesn't even pay for it. [SPEAKER_04]: And he's a nitpicky thing. [SPEAKER_04]: The bigger things are the issues that we're talking about or not being addressed. [SPEAKER_04]: That's the big. [SPEAKER_03]: But there is a bit of a, like, a continuity and logic bump because Odo said or somebody said earlier that the voles were done, that was taken care of.

[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, many scenes back. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: So why isn't, yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: Why is she still outside doing a part-time job selling jumpsuit sticks and barge on the open? [SPEAKER_04]: And why isn't there a brief message telling Quark to come back? [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, now we've got a new problem.

[SPEAKER_04]: He's now the chief clerk and that's that's a scene also that's missing his decision Do I go back to I not I love yeah my bar, but this isn't incredible opportunity and it's blown by yeah [SPEAKER_03]: He gives him the job and says, start right now, and that I get. [SPEAKER_04]: But there should have been a scene where, okay, do I stick with this job and we're going to see that change.

[SPEAKER_04]: And more importantly, who gets the bar if I keep the first clip job? [SPEAKER_02]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_04]: I can't give it to Rome. [SPEAKER_04]: He doesn't want it. [SPEAKER_04]: I can't give it to Nog. [SPEAKER_04]: He doesn't want it. [SPEAKER_04]: Who gets the bar? [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_04]: Hell, pal, pal gets the point. [SPEAKER_04]: Hell gets the point. [SPEAKER_04]: You're lucky to give it to Dad. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: But that is overlooked. [SPEAKER_04]: It's like, okay, who gets the bar? [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: We're back at Moogie's house.

[SPEAKER_03]: It's raining. [SPEAKER_03]: Quark comes in, drives himself off with a... [SPEAKER_03]: a wall, uh, ring coat. [SPEAKER_01]: I see you're no Robbie. [SPEAKER_01]: So you, Robbie's question is this, Armin. [SPEAKER_01]: Why don't they have umbrellas? [SPEAKER_01]: That's his question. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, that's a good question.

[SPEAKER_04]: It's an excellent question. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: I, and you said it before and I said it, they have towels. [SPEAKER_04]: But yes, umbrella would be a good idea. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, then you wouldn't need the towels inside the door. [SPEAKER_03]: You wouldn't have come in soaking wet.

[SPEAKER_04]: Well, you, you need the towels because they're, we're not doing it in this episode, but there are other episodes. [SPEAKER_04]: If you come into somebody's house and you take a towel, [SPEAKER_01]: That's right. [SPEAKER_01]: I forgot about that. [SPEAKER_01]: You got to put a little piece of latin them in to get the towel to the towel usage.

[SPEAKER_04]: So you need the towels in a sense to have an income or some income. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, but, but yeah, it's the nitpicks. [SPEAKER_04]: And it really the big issues is the missing issues that they address. [SPEAKER_04]: But you're going because there's a big one coming up. [SPEAKER_03]: All right, well, Quark comes in, drives himself off, says he had a miserable day, Moogie says she had a miserable day too, that the economy is in free fall we learn.

[SPEAKER_03]: And then this is when Quark puts it together, that Moogie was the brains keeping everything running, that Zek's memory is failing and Moogie was the hero here. [SPEAKER_03]: And this is the scene where Moogie realized that the Quark set all this up for his license to get his license back.

[SPEAKER_03]: So they're both having kind of aha moments in the scene, [SPEAKER_04]: uh... she says she hopes he's happy ruining pharynx and are's entire economy that's the second big moment yeah uh... that is missed theme that is missed the entire pharyngey empire and it is an empire is just gone south why do we not talk about that [SPEAKER_04]: What are the consequences of that?

[SPEAKER_04]: What's happening for ringing around for ringing on? [SPEAKER_04]: Must have lost thousands. [SPEAKER_04]: Why are they in the streets? [SPEAKER_04]: Why aren't people jumping off of the tower? [SPEAKER_04]: Like they did in 1929? [SPEAKER_04]: Why is this just mentioned and then forgotten?

[SPEAKER_04]: This is a huge, huge event, if Earth were suddenly overtaken and there was a gas that killed off all the people or whatever disaster you want to come up with, you wouldn't just skip over it. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's kind of, it's literally, you know, tossed off when she says, well, I hope it was worth it.

[SPEAKER_03]: I hope it was in a comedic way. [SPEAKER_03]: when it's the entire economy, the culture, the economy, the foundations of Feringonar are about to collapse because Negas is getting some kind of memory loss disease. [SPEAKER_03]: That's very serious, another topic that is not really addressed.

[SPEAKER_04]: they don't even try it. [SPEAKER_04]: It's just so much farce and yet they bring up issues that in any other episode, I think that's Mike, this is where all this angst is coming from this passion and I apologize. [SPEAKER_04]: Is that in any other episode, this would be a trust. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, but they're so angry episode, so we're not going to dress it.

[SPEAKER_03]: They've got blinders on with forengies and they think forengies live in a very narrow lane and it's a comic lane and they don't they don't [SPEAKER_03]: look outside of that for the opportunities. [SPEAKER_03]: And there's a lot of opportunities in this story. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, limited screen 43 minutes.

[SPEAKER_01]: That's all they have. [SPEAKER_01]: And they bid off more than they could chew. [SPEAKER_01]: That's yes. [SPEAKER_01]: Because the, because the deep topics are there, depression, Alzheimer's, there's all kinds of stuff going on here. [SPEAKER_01]: But they just don't, this could have been a two part episode really.

[SPEAKER_01]: If you want to stretch it out, you know, it's just too much going on. [SPEAKER_03]: Well, we go back to the chamber of practitioners, cork is surrounded by pads. [SPEAKER_03]: He's working away when brunch arrives and says, you don't have to work so hard, because the markets are going to stay closed today because of this disaster.

[SPEAKER_03]: And no specifics. [SPEAKER_04]: We don't need that. [SPEAKER_04]: It doesn't have to just one specific, give me a specific about why the markets are closed today. [SPEAKER_04]: Except for the drop of $199 points, which in today's market is a blip. [SPEAKER_01]: But he does mention that that last time that the market plummeted that much in on Frank and are the grand niggas that was in office then was assassinated right after that And so so was his first clerk and the first clerk.

[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, excuse me What was that much about but was there any governmental it outcome? [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, they assassinated the leaders Okay, the first clerk in the niggas, but what else happened? [SPEAKER_04]: What what happened to the economy? [SPEAKER_04]: You know, we're still saying years later, COVID has affected our economy to this day.

[SPEAKER_04]: There are repercussions because of COVID. [SPEAKER_04]: So what happened on Farenganar that they needed to close the stock market for one day? [SPEAKER_03]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, all the things you talked about would have been great to refer to, some of those specifics. [SPEAKER_03]: Well, Quark realizes in this scene that Brunt knew all about Zack's failing memory.

[SPEAKER_03]: He knew it all along. [SPEAKER_03]: This was all part of a plan. [SPEAKER_03]: And we see Jeffrey Cohn's walkover and sit down in the Grand Nages chair. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, thanks. [SPEAKER_03]: He would make a great grand-negas in that society would be proud his father would be proud father would be proud Well, what did he say daddy?

[SPEAKER_01]: Right there. [SPEAKER_01]: Daddy would be proud or something like that. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's it's the Jeff's credit. [SPEAKER_04]: He can make all of that work. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes It's amazing [SPEAKER_03]: uh... but run thanks quarks as you can have done it without him and that's why he's going to let him keep his new business license and tells him just forget about this go back to the that little bar of yours scurry on basket very derogatory i mean drugative way of saying that scurry on back to that little bar of yours just yeah [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, we go back to Muggie's house, Quark returns, Muggie's looking at the markets, and she says that Quark should be back at DS9, celebrating his victory.

[SPEAKER_03]: He got what he wanted, got his license. [SPEAKER_03]: And this work Quark says that he's developing a human conscience, and he talks a lot about that. [SPEAKER_04]: Now, yeah, this is where I compliment the writers. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: This this speech about living with another culture, I thought was quite quite brilliant.

[SPEAKER_04]: I agree. [SPEAKER_04]: For me, was the high point of the episode for me. [SPEAKER_04]: That this this is something they recognize. [SPEAKER_04]: This is the theme that needed to be addressed and here we're addressing it. [SPEAKER_04]: And the writers did a really good job on that speech.

[SPEAKER_03]: Well, uh, he talks about developing a conscience, and he says, you know, a blunt wants to take over. [SPEAKER_03]: Imperant is not a negative. [SPEAKER_03]: He says, uh, uh, runs as a fringy, but he's not a negative. [SPEAKER_03]: A negative has to be better than that. [SPEAKER_03]: his personal greed has to reflect the public's greed, which I thought is an interesting lie.

[SPEAKER_01]: I do like that line though. [SPEAKER_01]: And it's right. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's right. [SPEAKER_04]: The president of our country has to represent the feelings of the country. [SPEAKER_04]: The nation has to do that. [SPEAKER_04]: That's how they get elected. [SPEAKER_04]: And that's how they stay elected.

[SPEAKER_04]: It's a very cogent line. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I agree. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, should reflect the people and not be self-focused, like, like, brunt. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, Quark and Ishka is trying to think about what they're going to do about it. [SPEAKER_03]: We go to the chamber of petitioners where the negatives in Quark have returned from this inquisition.

[SPEAKER_03]: Basically, they did it. [SPEAKER_03]: They won. [SPEAKER_03]: We skip over how they did it. [SPEAKER_03]: The drama of [SPEAKER_03]: There was a lot of great story in there, skipped right over it. [SPEAKER_03]: Zack does admit that he's getting forgetful, quirk suggests full conductors that they're making some breakthroughs and Zack reluctantly agrees to go see them about his memory loss.

[SPEAKER_03]: And he still wants quirk to be his first clerk, and he says, well, I can, of course, but I have a better option for you to be your advisor, your first clerk, my advisor, [SPEAKER_03]: and he brings in his advisor in a hooded cloak kind of thing, and of course it's Mugi. [SPEAKER_03]: Mugi is proposed for his first clerk, and Mugi admits in the scene to Zach that she does believe in equal rights.

[SPEAKER_03]: She hopes someday he will too, but that she would never do anything to hurt him. [SPEAKER_03]: There's no evil plan to hurt him or do any harm to him. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I thought that was very nicely addressed. [SPEAKER_03]: Quark admits he stretched the truth a little bit with what he told Zach, yeah, it's true love for Zach and Moogie, they had off to dinner.

[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, but they had off to dinner too easily. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I mean, there was a problem here. [SPEAKER_04]: And again, Equal Rights is mentioned, [SPEAKER_04]: But then it's quickly forgotten and they're in love again. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: It just, you're right. [SPEAKER_04]: You're a great guard.

[SPEAKER_04]: It's the only 43 minutes you're absolutely right. [SPEAKER_01]: But maybe at line of saying like we still have some issues, we need to iron out for the dinner. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: We don't have to be kissing. [SPEAKER_01]: But we don't have to be all over again. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_01]: Why does Mayhard do hug you at the end? [SPEAKER_01]: What's going on here? [SPEAKER_01]: Cork. [SPEAKER_04]: Uh, because it's a happy ending. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, that's fine. [SPEAKER_01]: Got it. [SPEAKER_03]: We go to Quarks bedroom at Moogie's house. [SPEAKER_03]: He's packing up his bag.

[SPEAKER_03]: Dinner is ready. [SPEAKER_03]: We hear when Moogie walks in brings his action figures. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: This is the Maraudermo action figures. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: And those action figures, but of trivia, are actually redressed super Patriot figures from the McFarlane spawn action figure line of the mid-Nighties.

[SPEAKER_01]: So already preexisting bodies with the armor where they threw Frankie heads on top of them. [SPEAKER_04]: And what's addressed is something that anybody who's a fan of any franchise knows that if you take that action figures out of the box, they're worth immediately dropped. [SPEAKER_01]: So, yes.

[SPEAKER_01]: So, as Auburn said, that line was written as a joke by Hans Bimler to Ira. [SPEAKER_01]: because Bimler is quoted as saying I was one of those guys who buys all these toys and never opens them and God forbid you should open one because they don't make it less valuable so he's making fun of Ira and how he operates with action good friends good friends who collected I remember Brian Fuller collected actually he didn't have the box he took him out of the box [SPEAKER_01]: They were all sitting in their all their glory without a box though, so he devalued them.

[SPEAKER_01]: If Ira was to walk into Brian Fuller's office, he would be so a gas that he would probably pass out over seeing the loss of value. [SPEAKER_04]: And our original creator, Michael Pillar, was a huge baseball fan. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: He had baseball cards that were very valuable, you know, were out of the rappers, but incredible.

[SPEAKER_04]: He showed me some of them on, oh my god, even I know who these people are. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, he was a big baseball fan, as he was. [SPEAKER_03]: So, Corx got his action figures back when Moogie leaves brunt beams into the closet again. [SPEAKER_03]: He threatens to tell everybody about Moogie, but Corx says X ready to destroy him.

[SPEAKER_03]: If he tries, he's already planned for that. [SPEAKER_03]: And then brunt threatens Corx says he'll be watching him. [SPEAKER_03]: He's gonna keep an eye on him and brunt leaves. [SPEAKER_03]: And we hear Moogie from the other room say the grubs are getting cold, Corx says. [SPEAKER_04]: No, not cold.

[SPEAKER_04]: big enough to warm. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, you're getting warm, but that's a cold. [SPEAKER_03]: That's right. [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, your two crops are getting warm. [SPEAKER_03]: And Quarks is coming, Moogie, and instead of coming, he sits down to play with his action figure. [SPEAKER_04]: Reverts back to the ten-year-old child.

[SPEAKER_04]: He showed up in a little bit during this episode. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, yes, yes, yes. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: All right. [SPEAKER_01]: Then we did it. [SPEAKER_01]: We did it. [SPEAKER_01]: We did it. [SPEAKER_01]: We did it. [SPEAKER_01]: They did it. [SPEAKER_01]: They did it.

[SPEAKER_01]: I survived both of your nitpicking throughout this whole [SPEAKER_03]: Even though I nitpicked though, I enjoyed that I have fun watching this episode. [SPEAKER_01]: Good. [SPEAKER_01]: I just want to be clear I really I love I loved it. [SPEAKER_01]: Sorry. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay, okay, so that's I understand where you're both coming from.

[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah I'm just gonna pose this question. [SPEAKER_04]: You just pose this question. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_04]: If they had done this to your characters Would you be a sanguine if they had were made your characters idiots? [SPEAKER_04]: Would you? [SPEAKER_03]: I would not think. [SPEAKER_03]: No, I would not have been happy about that.

[SPEAKER_04]: Okay. [SPEAKER_03]: But if they had written a whole comic episode for my character, I would have loved it because I never got that. [SPEAKER_03]: I either got dry sort of informational or I got the romance or the action, but I never got the comedy and I always wanted. [SPEAKER_01]: I did get comedy now, and then, but I wanted, and it's weird because I think people when they watch, when fans watch Star Trek, depending on where they are in their lives, different things resonate with them.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Just do. [SPEAKER_01]: And this episode was fabulous for me, and you're needed for my rating. [SPEAKER_01]: I needed it right now. [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: Sadly, it's kind of helping me stay sane in a way. [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for that, Gary. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay.

[SPEAKER_04]: You're making me feel better. [SPEAKER_04]: Good. [SPEAKER_03]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: All right. [SPEAKER_03]: People need this episode. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_03]: Yes. [SPEAKER_03]: Lesson Thee Moral, Robbie McNeill, my lesson I wrote down, look out for those you love and protect them, even if society doesn't protect them.

[SPEAKER_03]: That goes for Moogie, you know, she's different, even Zach, the people you love, yep, look out for them. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, that's a good one. [SPEAKER_01]: My theme slash less and slash more of this episode is that true wealth cannot be found in materialism. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm just referring to the ROM and Lita relationship and the whole thing about possessions and freed up, sin all that.

[SPEAKER_01]: So that's mine. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, but even on the quarkside, like ultimately like the relationship, the happiness, the true happiness for the Negus [SPEAKER_03]: quark to feel his conscience that he's developing, you know, to feel right with himself. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I feel like it wasn't in, it wasn't in saving the economy.

[SPEAKER_03]: All that was a big motivator. [SPEAKER_03]: But it was, it was on a personal level, most satisfying because, [SPEAKER_03]: they took care of each other, it wasn't found in the material. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it was more family and interpersonal relationships. [SPEAKER_01]: That's where the value was.

[SPEAKER_01]: So it wasn't about letting them. [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, so I guess that that theme can be on both A and B's. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay. [SPEAKER_04]: So to that reference to family, I wrote down the theme is rule of acquisition number six, never allow family to stand in the way of opportunity.

[SPEAKER_04]: That's what I thought. [SPEAKER_04]: And then I had another one, I found this great quote from Nietzsche. [SPEAKER_04]: There's always some madness in love, but there's also some reason in madness. [SPEAKER_03]: So that was what I thought. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I like that. [SPEAKER_01]: I like that quote a lot.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, all right. [SPEAKER_01]: The Patreon poll winner for theme slash less and slash moral this episode as submitted by [SPEAKER_01]: Madeline, more women are needed on the writing team. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm a good person. [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, please. [SPEAKER_03]: All right, Madeline. [SPEAKER_03]: Thank you for that.

[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_03]: We have an honorable mention with our some of our new content. [SPEAKER_03]: This is new. [SPEAKER_03]: This is new. [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, our honorable mention for a theme moral. [SPEAKER_03]: An idea to take away from this episode. [SPEAKER_03]: And that is submitted by Scott B.

[SPEAKER_03]: That is, don't betray your own mother. [SPEAKER_03]: Okay, y'all. [SPEAKER_03]: Thank you, Scott. [SPEAKER_03]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_04]: Lots of good lessons. [SPEAKER_04]: Unless she stands in the way of opportunity. [SPEAKER_03]: But you know what I find interesting about all these lessons and themes, Armin, they're all over the map.

[SPEAKER_03]: because they didn't kind of hone in on, there's a lot of lessons in this episode, but there's not one that they were focused on, and that's the misfire of this episode, I think. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I couldn't agree more, but I've carved enough, but I couldn't agree. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And I will not cough this episode.

[SPEAKER_01]: All right. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, this is the end of our recap and discussion of this particular episode for Enge Love Songs. [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you to Armin as always whenever he joins us. [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, sir. [SPEAKER_01]: You're welcome. [SPEAKER_01]: And join us next time when we will be recapping and discussing the episode soldiers of the Empire with Terry.
