[SPEAKER_00]: Hello everyone, welcome to the Delta Flyers, journey through the wormhole with cork dacks and their good friends Tom and Harry join us as we make our way through episodes of Star Trek Deep Space 9. [SPEAKER_01]: You're host for today, are my fellow trek actors, arm and shimmerman, Garrett Wong and myself, Robert Tunga McNeil, aka Don Pardo.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's almost like a game show for y'all. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we sort of the game show down part of the game show. [SPEAKER_00]: He wasn't either main guest. [SPEAKER_01]: He did a lot of them, you know. [SPEAKER_01]: Wow. [SPEAKER_00]: For you, youngsters, Google Dawn part of... [SPEAKER_00]: Or we could say other the other name Robbie would be Cosmo Genevase as well.

[SPEAKER_00]: Very admited and in his delivery of lines. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, he always sounds like a voice over. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, every time. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, as an intro perhaps, I wish everyone is watching. [SPEAKER_02]: I have an incredibly prolific science script of all the actors from the magnificent for ringing.

[SPEAKER_02]: You have a lot of signatures there. [SPEAKER_02]: A lot of signatures. [SPEAKER_02]: And if I'm in, I've been to stalk about this. [SPEAKER_02]: Some of them have passed away. [SPEAKER_02]: So to their memories, I dedicate today's a block. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.

[SPEAKER_01]: Some wonderful actors in this episode. [SPEAKER_01]: And I know good friends of yours. [SPEAKER_01]: And, uh, and fellow Faranghi. [SPEAKER_01]: And fellow Faranghi. [SPEAKER_02]: And people from other parts of my life as well. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, did you do that often in terms of did you take the script and have everyone set note because I never did this one Yeah, was going to be special for me and so I went around during the course of the shoot and got them all to sign it [SPEAKER_02]: We were having such a good time.

[SPEAKER_02]: I don't remember laughing as much on any other episode compared to this one. [SPEAKER_02]: This one I was cons. [SPEAKER_02]: The moment I was off camera, I would start from my laughter and then I would burst out laughing when the health cut. [SPEAKER_02]: These guys were very funny. [SPEAKER_02]: It was just wonderful.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's just wonderful. [SPEAKER_02]: And we had a lovely time and we got to meet Iggy Pop as well. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, my gosh. [SPEAKER_00]: You guys are so lucky. [SPEAKER_00]: Robbie, they have the best guest stores. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, Ira, that's Ira. [SPEAKER_00]: Ira is Sarah.

[SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_02]: Ira is the fan? [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, he was a fan. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, so some of the guest stars were just people that Ira won't be to meet. [SPEAKER_02]: And so he would just hire them and put them on the set. [SPEAKER_02]: And then he would come down late at night to meet them.

[SPEAKER_02]: He might not be one of the all of Iggy Pop scenes probably was shot at two in the morning. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, my goodness. [SPEAKER_01]: Gosh. [SPEAKER_02]: Now, is that because he had a concert, I read something about he had dislocated his shoulder at his show the night before filming one of the same possibilities for, I can't agree or disagree, but I do remember that he was a little perturbed and that Sessli Adams told me that night that she had spent most of the hours coming him down, just coming it.

[SPEAKER_02]: You know, because he was a little nervous about being on the show or acting and all this makeup as well. [SPEAKER_02]: So she was babysitting him and very grateful to Sessley for that. [SPEAKER_01]: And he's such like a tough punk rocker rock star and to be nervous about, you know, this episode is really interesting.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's really good job. [SPEAKER_01]: He is a icon in the punk rock. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, he was a rocker-hole fan, this is amazing, amazing musician and cultural icon, really. [SPEAKER_01]: And the little that I interacted with him, he seemed very, very nice, very nice. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.

[SPEAKER_01]: I met him once and he was very quiet, you know, not an introvert. [SPEAKER_01]: Almost, almost, which it doesn't, you know, match his on stage persona of this, you know, crazy wild rebel. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: And if you watch the scene between Cecilia and he, you can see the way she relates to him.

[SPEAKER_02]: Sort of, you can see where she's been calming him down. [SPEAKER_01]: The scene where they're talking about investment strategy, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

[SPEAKER_01]: Happy birthday, Jay. [SPEAKER_01]: Have a great day. [SPEAKER_01]: We also have AJ on August 28th. [SPEAKER_01]: Our good friend AJ. [SPEAKER_01]: Happy birthday, AJ. [SPEAKER_00]: AJ. [SPEAKER_02]: Happy birthday. [SPEAKER_00]: Happy birthday. [SPEAKER_00]: Happy birthday, AJ. [SPEAKER_00]: And last, but certainly not least on September 3rd.

[SPEAKER_00]: Happy, happy, happy birthday to Jenny Cordina. [SPEAKER_00]: Happy birthday, Jenny. [SPEAKER_00]: September 3rd. [SPEAKER_00]: That's a good day. [SPEAKER_01]: Happy birthday, Jenny. [SPEAKER_01]: Our first September birthday on the podcast this year. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, nine, three birthday.

[SPEAKER_00]: I like that. [SPEAKER_00]: OK, let's start off with our synopsis of this episode. [SPEAKER_00]: Our poetry synopsis started with Robbie and his limerick. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I've got a little limerick here. [SPEAKER_01]: I have to admit, before we go any further, I love this episode, Armin.

[SPEAKER_01]: I just want to say that out of the gate, [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not, you know, bearing the lead here. [SPEAKER_01]: I loved it. [SPEAKER_01]: It's one of my favorite episodes of the show so far. [SPEAKER_02]: A lot of people love this episode. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm very fond of it. [SPEAKER_02]: There are things that I quibble about.

[SPEAKER_02]: But it's a memorable, memorable, memorable episode. [SPEAKER_02]: It's one of the reasons I got everybody to sign that screen. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: All right. [SPEAKER_01]: Here's my poem. [SPEAKER_01]: My [SPEAKER_01]: The Feringi did business with Flair, though courage was notably rare, but with friends by Quarkside and Keeven modified, the Dominion had better beware.

[SPEAKER_00]: Lovely, Benjamin. [SPEAKER_00]: Very good. [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_00]: Here we go with my high coup for the magnificent Feringi. [SPEAKER_00]: Here we go. [SPEAKER_00]: Moogie's been captured all Feringi rescue team. [SPEAKER_00]: We can't at Bernie's [SPEAKER_00]: Nice, the ex-absolutely.

[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_00]: All right, etymology time with Arm and Shimmerman etymology. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, two words. [SPEAKER_02]: Magnificent for Reggie. [SPEAKER_02]: The first one, Magnificent is from the Latin, which ironically is exactly the same word, Magnificent. [SPEAKER_02]: And also from the French, which is exactly the same word, Magnificent.

[SPEAKER_02]: Wow, here are the three definitions I found characterized by greatness of achievement or and this is my favorite of the three or by conduct befitting lofty stature. [SPEAKER_02]: I love that one. [SPEAKER_02]: Or proud, arrogantly ambitious. [SPEAKER_02]: So those are my three definitions for magnificent.

[SPEAKER_02]: Pranky, I've done before, but it pairs repeating, I think. [SPEAKER_02]: So I will give you my definition of Pranky, etymology of Pranky. [SPEAKER_02]: Frengey comes from the historical Persian Frengey, meaning foreigner, or European. [SPEAKER_02]: The word originated from the word Frank, referring to the Western European crusaders who went into the Middle East.

[SPEAKER_02]: Over time, the word spread across Asia and India to describe outsiders, traders, so it's that it's the Frengey-perfection, as well as traders. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, it does. [SPEAKER_00]: Also the first word though magnificent. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't think we've ever had a time where you've told us This is the exact same word.

[SPEAKER_00]: It never changed. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, never changed Latin or French. [SPEAKER_02]: So the accent chain Such a magnificent song. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, but the spelling according to the dictionary was exactly the same Whether it's Latin French or English [SPEAKER_01]: Interesting. [SPEAKER_00]: If I'm in France or some lost colony that speaks only Latin, I'm just going to say that word over and over.

[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, but yeah, don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: All right. [SPEAKER_01]: We've got a Patreon submitted poetry winner. [SPEAKER_01]: And this is a rhyming couplet submitted by Jenny B. [SPEAKER_01]: It's actually two rhyming couplets, I guess. [SPEAKER_01]: Here we go.

[SPEAKER_01]: This is the story of the King of Squill, who so bravely showed an iron will, and overcame chaos to keep all calm in the heroic rescue of his dear mom. [SPEAKER_01]: I love the. [SPEAKER_02]: Excellent. [SPEAKER_02]: Nice. [SPEAKER_02]: Excellent. [SPEAKER_02]: Excellent. [SPEAKER_02]: Excellent.

[SPEAKER_02]: Excellent. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm not sure I was the king of Squill, but certainly a proverb of Squill. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, you are. [SPEAKER_00]: about the Duke of Squel. [SPEAKER_00]: We can just, we got to give you some time. [SPEAKER_00]: Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squel, Squ

[SPEAKER_00]: The Negus and Fear, quark gathers a team he holds most dear. [SPEAKER_00]: Brunt and nog, and cousin's strange, a bumbling crew, set to arrange. [SPEAKER_00]: To Vorta hands the ransom's ode, down a dominion trap they strode, schemes collide and bargains fail, yet greed and wit begin to prevail.

[SPEAKER_00]: A hallowed sweet lie, a desperate rose, turns captors' plans to Ferengi's use, mother freed the hero's stand tall, prophet found in loving, after all. [SPEAKER_00]: That's very nice. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, this is very nice. [SPEAKER_01]: Nice. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, good. [SPEAKER_01]: Ten on the second row.

[SPEAKER_00]: Wow. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm impressed. [SPEAKER_00]: OK. [SPEAKER_00]: This episode was written by our Steven Bear and Hans Bimler, and directed by somebody new here, chip, charmers, anyone has charmers. [SPEAKER_00]: Insight on chip charmers. [SPEAKER_02]: He was a delight to work with. [SPEAKER_02]: And as I said, we were all having too much fun shooting that episode.

[SPEAKER_02]: And he made that happen. [SPEAKER_02]: He made sure that there was just the ability to just laugh all the time. [SPEAKER_02]: He didn't push us that hard. [SPEAKER_02]: He was very happy with the antics that we were doing. [SPEAKER_02]: And he was a lovely man. [SPEAKER_02]: I remember him very fondly.

[SPEAKER_01]: I think he was an AD on next gen. Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And you've never run across paths with him, Robbie, and you're directing. [SPEAKER_01]: No, I never have, although I know the name, and maybe it's through the DGA. [SPEAKER_01]: OK. [SPEAKER_01]: Wait a minute. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you're looking to have a minute.

[SPEAKER_01]: I did look him up, and I think he's from the south, like from Florida, and he may have retired in Atlanta. [SPEAKER_01]: I may have crossed paths with him when I was living in Atlanta. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh my goodness, stay function. [SPEAKER_01]: I think I may have now. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh my goodness.

[SPEAKER_00]: You go. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, stars, Jeffrey Combs, his brunt, Max Grudin chick is from Ernaisenberg's nog, Sicily Adams as Ishka, Josh Pace as Gala, [SPEAKER_00]: Chase Masterson, Eslita, and of course, Iggy Pop as Yogan. [SPEAKER_00]: Iggy Pop, my goodness, wow. [SPEAKER_02]: So let me talk a little bit about Hamilton Camp.

[SPEAKER_02]: Sure. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: As like, Hamilton had appeared on the show before, but prior to that, Hamilton. [SPEAKER_02]: And I, in Mark Olymo, all were nearly years before shooting Star Trek, doing a film called Arena. [SPEAKER_02]: And Hamilton and I became very close friends in Italy.

[SPEAKER_02]: And of course, I became friends with Mark Olymo as well. [SPEAKER_02]: But we had a grand time. [SPEAKER_02]: And Hamilton had to wear a ton of makeup because it was a science fiction picture. [SPEAKER_02]: In fact, the characters we played in Arena were sort of warm ups for the characters we played on Star Trek.

[SPEAKER_02]: in similarity, Hamilton was a joy always, always like Aaron, always a bundle of fun when he, when you were around him. [SPEAKER_02]: But his career, he had had a wonderful theater career in New York, and he began with lots of Broadway stories. [SPEAKER_00]: Wow, nice. [SPEAKER_00]: But he's passed on now.

[SPEAKER_02]: We've lost Sicily, we've lost Aaron, Chris Shade passed away at very young age, I think around 52. [SPEAKER_02]: And Hamilton, in Hamilton passed away. [SPEAKER_02]: And the reason I'm looking over my shoulders, I actually have a card from Hamilton's funeral that sits on my shelf over there.

[SPEAKER_00]: Is Iggy Pop still alive? [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, [SPEAKER_00]: So just that one moment with hands is the only real connection to that.

[SPEAKER_00]: I would disagree with Iran. [SPEAKER_02]: I would do. [SPEAKER_02]: Lex character is a knife drawer. [SPEAKER_02]: And there is a similar character like that in the magnificent sense. [SPEAKER_02]: And there probably are other things as well. [SPEAKER_01]: I would disagree in terms of the execution of the episode, whether or not they intended to imitate the Magnificent 7, they certainly gave a cue to everyone who was making this, including the director, Chip Chalmersack.

[SPEAKER_01]: to film stage and film and tone this episode in the style of a western in many moments. [SPEAKER_01]: So I think, yeah, there's definitely a nod. [SPEAKER_01]: It's not a copy at all. [SPEAKER_01]: It's its own thing, but there's definitely a nod in a great way. [SPEAKER_01]: I think it's great.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, there's one, I remember one moment where we all stride together, that's to add it to the movie. [SPEAKER_02]: It's not the way we look straight into the, into my eyes and, and Max's eyes, and that's straight out of the movie. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's like, if nobody was doing shipping it.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, you do. [SPEAKER_00]: All right, to further both of your points, the second bit of trivia is, despite the writers claim that the episode had nothing to do with the Seven Samurai or the Magnificent Seven, both arm and shimmerman and max credential. [SPEAKER_00]: Studied the films prior to shooting their scenes, from the Magnificent Seven, credentials all wrong as a whimpy Steve McQueen, with shimmerman seeing quirk in the Ullbrenner role, validity to this arm and yeah, you'll enable both balled.

[SPEAKER_01]: To say, nice. [SPEAKER_01]: I always thought you reminded me of your Brenner. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I'm not, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: OK. Now, the bit of trivia, Iggy Pop's role as Yelgren was the realization of a personal goal of Irish Stephen Bear, who was a fan of the musician. [SPEAKER_00]: Bear had tried to cast Iggy Pop as a greatie in past tense part two, but Iggy's tour dates conflicted.

[SPEAKER_00]: Is that the... [SPEAKER_00]: The Bill Riots episode, right? [SPEAKER_00]: Anything so great? [SPEAKER_00]: He's one of the, okay, that's who he was going to be interesting. [SPEAKER_00]: Interesting. [SPEAKER_00]: That would be interesting. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, it would have been. [SPEAKER_00]: Bear was a little annoyed with himself for casting Iggy as a Vorta.

[SPEAKER_00]: Quote, his physicality is certainly part of who he is. [SPEAKER_00]: And unfortunately, we cast him as a Vorta, one of the most immobile of characters. [SPEAKER_00]: That is very interesting. [SPEAKER_00]: Huh. [SPEAKER_00]: True, though, final bit of trivia. [SPEAKER_00]: Chris Forsche returns to the role of Keven, who he had first played in Rocks and Sholes.

[SPEAKER_00]: In that episode, he surrendered himself to the Federation, and he has been kept as a prisoner since. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I loved a lot of these callbacks to other episodes and other Feringi characters. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm kind of coming together. [SPEAKER_01]: I thought that was a great way of bringing, yeah, what you're sure does so well is taking stories and expanding on them.

[SPEAKER_01]: including them and continuing to sort of grow and loop in those stories. [SPEAKER_01]: I thought it was good. [SPEAKER_02]: There's one in particular that I will remind you when we get to that scene that, yes, I was watching the show. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, that's nice. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, they did that, which is a callback to something.

[SPEAKER_02]: Not only that was in a previous episode, but something we talked about a lot. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, interesting. [SPEAKER_01]: All right. [SPEAKER_01]: Tell us when we get there. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: All right. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, we start off in quarks and quark makes a very big entrance into into his bar, his restaurant here.

[SPEAKER_01]: He is a hero. [SPEAKER_01]: He's got some people marching behind him with cases of what will learn as skill. [SPEAKER_01]: This very rare, very highly popular flavoring syrup, I guess. [SPEAKER_02]: syrup, I believe it's true, because it goes on in Odecakes or something like Odecakes. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he's finally found some. [SPEAKER_01]: It's been, you know, hard to get or impossible to get for years now. [SPEAKER_01]: For a while, he tells this big story of how he did it. [SPEAKER_01]: I loved your story where you talk about what you see. [SPEAKER_01]: I once did a business with the nephew of the cousin of a sexist [SPEAKER_01]: and then you check yourself, wait, that's you.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, that's right, it looks great. [SPEAKER_01]: I love your story, but everyone is just in wrapped with this story. [SPEAKER_01]: One person isn't one person isn't somebody, who's that? [SPEAKER_02]: You'll come to that in a moment. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you tell the big story, there's applause.

[SPEAKER_01]: Corquist is clearly a hero to everybody in the bar right now. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's when Dax, Miles, he's a hero. [SPEAKER_02]: But he's certainly the center of attention. [SPEAKER_02]: And that's what he wants to be the center of attention. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, you even finished this story after your applause and, uh, and don't you start another story?

[SPEAKER_01]: Mm-hmm, about to start a new one. [SPEAKER_01]: Reminds me of another story, yes. [SPEAKER_01]: Another economic episode of mine, 11 or 12 years ago, shortly before I came to the station, and then suddenly, Daxo Brian and Bashar Wacke. [SPEAKER_02]: And I had not known that Quark arrived at the station 11 or 12 years before, [SPEAKER_02]: That was a piece of information that I went, oh, I don't I don't know if I clocked it when I was shooting the episode, but I did clock it watching the episode.

[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, it's interesting. [SPEAKER_00]: New things you learn from watching your show about your character. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, they walk in, they take all the attention, they've been on the secret mission that now they can talk about, and everybody's now focused on them. [SPEAKER_01]: As the heroes, I think, lead a even officer by them around or something.

[SPEAKER_01]: So, yeah, so they've stolen the attention. [SPEAKER_01]: Quarks very unhappy about this. [SPEAKER_01]: Things that are self-satisfied, starfleet, the stole his audience on purpose. [SPEAKER_01]: Starfleeters, when he gets a message. [SPEAKER_02]: uh... who whispers in your ear break bright david david levels and might my status in and who is in uh... all the scene practically uh... in quarks bar is shout out to david who was uh... godsend and i don't understand why they just didn't give david the line [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, what's the point?

[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, but he's the one. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he does. [SPEAKER_00]: He gets one. [SPEAKER_02]: He gets one in a future episode. [SPEAKER_02]: Great job. [SPEAKER_02]: But he had been around now for six years. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: He was quite capable of saying a lot. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_02]: It made no sense for him to whisper in quirks here. [SPEAKER_01]: I remember it was such a policy of Star Trek that we just don't upgrade. [SPEAKER_01]: We don't give single lines to people. [SPEAKER_01]: If we can get away around it with a whisper or a be on someone's back, such an loop group can loop it in.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I remember learning that when I shot a boat and when I went on to direct other shows, it was so ingrained in me that I would often say that as we're prepping. [SPEAKER_01]: I'd say to the producers, well, we can just have somebody with their back and we'll loop it in later. [SPEAKER_01]: I realize years later, like, why am I doing that?

[SPEAKER_01]: Why am I still playing? [SPEAKER_01]: But the start trek rule when it's so much better to have the actor have someone say a lie in it. [SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_02]: And as far as saving money, which of course that's what they're doing. [SPEAKER_02]: But as far as saving money, it's de minimus.

[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, the background people, [SPEAKER_02]: I'm not giving anything away. [SPEAKER_02]: This was Union rules, but they made like a hundred dollars a day. [SPEAKER_02]: So if they got to say a line, it might be bumped up at that time maybe to 350 or something like that. [SPEAKER_02]: It's to minimize.

[SPEAKER_02]: We would spend that on raisins on craft service. [SPEAKER_02]: It's to minimize. [SPEAKER_02]: They could have given David the line. [SPEAKER_02]: And he would have loved it. [SPEAKER_02]: And he did love it later on when he did get a line. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Agreed.

[SPEAKER_01]: Well, Quarket's a message that the grand nagus wants to speak to him right away. [SPEAKER_01]: Very excited about that. [SPEAKER_01]: Even, of course, things he's got to give him some skill as a gift. [SPEAKER_01]: Not just one jar, maybe it does in because he loves skill. [SPEAKER_01]: So, [SPEAKER_01]: always thinking, always negotiating.

[SPEAKER_02]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_02]: And let us not forget that Otto reminds Quark that he's not a hero. [SPEAKER_02]: So that's the one person who didn't particularly favor Quark's story. [SPEAKER_02]: That is he didn't believe him. [SPEAKER_02]: He did, but you know, you're nothing compared to what the Starfleet people are doing.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he says there's nothing heroic about earning a profit. [SPEAKER_01]: You did it for profit. [SPEAKER_01]: So why are you a hero? [SPEAKER_01]: But in Feringy culture, that is for rock. [SPEAKER_01]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_01]: All right. [SPEAKER_01]: So we move on. [SPEAKER_01]: We're inside a conduit, cork pops up.

[SPEAKER_01]: I love the pop-ups. [SPEAKER_01]: It happens a number of times in this episode. [SPEAKER_01]: It is a classic comedy technique. [SPEAKER_01]: And tonally, it tells us what kind of episode we're going to be watching. [SPEAKER_01]: There's going to be fun. [SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be light.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to have at least some of that. [SPEAKER_01]: It's it also has a lot more, but but it's got the comedy for sure. [SPEAKER_01]: And he pops up because Ram is working in a conduit deep in the valves of the station. [SPEAKER_01]: And I do like where he says, I've been looking for you all over the station.

[SPEAKER_01]: And Ram says, well, you found me. [SPEAKER_01]: Now you go and I did all search for you. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, Rome, so funny. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, Corta's break to the news very gently that Moogie has been captured by the Dominion, which, again, I'm gonna comment on the tone. [SPEAKER_01]: We start with comedy and the pop-up and the jokes, and then Armin, you beautifully, move it into something that's got weight to it.

[SPEAKER_01]: and you don't throw this news out there, you give it like this is a drama in a beautiful way. [SPEAKER_01]: And the scene ends emotionally grounded, even though the dialogue has been comic and I thought that was really well done. [SPEAKER_02]: That's been not always achieved it, but that was always my agenda to walk a path of very thin path between comedy and drama.

[SPEAKER_01]: Well, you did it in this one scene, a very short scene, but the tone shifted beautifully and and authentically, I thought it was great. [SPEAKER_01]: After the credits we come back, there's a ramen quark trying to find their way out of the bells. [SPEAKER_02]: Which didn't make any sense to me.

[SPEAKER_02]: I know it's there for comic effect, and it works, it works as a comic effect. [SPEAKER_02]: But I thought, we know these tunnels really well. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, obviously, Rome got in there, and the quark found him, it can't be that difficult to find your way out. [SPEAKER_02]: And why are we cro- this could have- this scene could have taken place on the Brahminan, it could have taken place anywhere.

[SPEAKER_02]: It didn't have to be in the conduit tubes. [SPEAKER_00]: And also Bromping an engineer now is essentially he knows every story or just not leading the way, quarks later the way. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, are you okay? [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, quarks later. [SPEAKER_02]: That if if Rommet said to quark, we get out here.

[SPEAKER_02]: He would have gone. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: It's just come for comic effected for us to be crawling around. [SPEAKER_02]: You know, I put in my notes like rats. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, interesting. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's funny to me. [SPEAKER_01]: I remember reading a screenwriting book once about the chapter was entitled Pope in the Pool, and it talks about scenes where there's a lot of exposition to place them as a screenwriter to write it into a place where you don't expect, whether there's something about the setting and the circumstance.

[SPEAKER_01]: So if the Pope is getting [SPEAKER_01]: Sitting on a you know floating in the pool and everybody's gonna be like, oh, there's a swimming pool at the Vatican? [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't know that. [SPEAKER_01]: It just he set him in some place unexpected and it makes the scene kind of it gives it some layers of interest I thought this was a pop in the pool kind of moment.

[SPEAKER_01]: Okay [SPEAKER_01]: you're just it it's a lot of exposition but where it's done in a clever way and it gives Cisco his residual scene because this is the only well no he's in some he's in another scene I got no no I think this is the only one if there's another one I forgot and I believe this is the only one with him and Kira when he says thanks course yes yes is exactly yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes [SPEAKER_01]: But it's a nice pop out.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's a pop in the pool moment. [SPEAKER_01]: I think it's great. [SPEAKER_02]: Because I have the script and we haven't gotten there yet, won't win Quark and Ron, pop out to Cisco, let me add something good. [SPEAKER_01]: OK. Well, the first thing is we see the door open and I thought Chip Traumers' amazing work.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I want to say, Chip Traumers did a great job in this episode. [SPEAKER_01]: I wish we had had him on Voyager, I think he did a great job of filming this of accentuating the comedy in nice ways and staying out of the way of the drama in great ways and he was really a good job. [SPEAKER_01]: Even this door opening to see Quark, you know, pop up as the door opens is like a curtain parting.

[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, here we go. [SPEAKER_01]: Here's our the curtains opening and we're about to start our show and they're crawling. [SPEAKER_01]: They discussed the rescue mission quarks as the negasus offered them a reward [SPEAKER_01]: We're in a conduit junction at one point. [SPEAKER_01]: Chick-chalmers again does a beautiful wonder with a pop-in that hands off to ROM's lines.

[SPEAKER_01]: But we learn in this wonder that Quark will split this 50 bars of land. [SPEAKER_01]: 30 for him and 20 for ROM. [SPEAKER_01]: Finders because yeah, he's got a finders fee. [SPEAKER_01]: Quark's got to get his finders fee, of course. [SPEAKER_01]: You go up a ladder at one point, ramen quark at this point, question how Mugi was captured with the Feringi travel restrictions.

[SPEAKER_01]: We discovered that she had special permission from the Nages to visit Vulcan because she was going to have her ears raised. [SPEAKER_01]: What's going to happen? [SPEAKER_01]: very funny. [SPEAKER_01]: She needed an ear left job. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, an ear job. [SPEAKER_01]: Quark reveals the shocking truth to Ron that Moogie and the Negas have been secret lovers all the long for a long time and she's been secretly his financial advisor for over a year now.

[SPEAKER_01]: Ron is stunned and there's a bit at the end of this scene where he goes no, of course, as their lovers. [SPEAKER_01]: No, it's been going on for over a year. [SPEAKER_01]: No, [SPEAKER_01]: She is a secret financial advisor and helps him run the entire Feringale Alliance. [SPEAKER_01]: No!

[SPEAKER_01]: Which is stop saying that. [SPEAKER_01]: It's beautiful. [SPEAKER_00]: The comedy comes in three, so you have the three nose right there. [SPEAKER_00]: But this is my question. [SPEAKER_00]: Didn't he already know that from the prior episode? [SPEAKER_00]: That's why I'm confused. [SPEAKER_00]: I thought, wait a minute.

[SPEAKER_00]: Rahm already knows that his metmuggie is in a relationship. [SPEAKER_00]: Or at least, Quirk would have told him that after when that episode happened. [SPEAKER_00]: Right? [SPEAKER_00]: Armit? [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_00]: But you know, even she's hitting mistakes about [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's worth a bit. [SPEAKER_01]: It's a funny bit. [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't catch the continuity. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: For you. [SPEAKER_01]: I think. [SPEAKER_01]: No, it did not pull me out of it. [SPEAKER_01]: All right. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Did not. [SPEAKER_01]: All right.

[SPEAKER_01]: This is where they pop into the captain's quarters. [SPEAKER_01]: Cisco says may I help you gentlemen? [SPEAKER_01]: And then they head out. [SPEAKER_02]: So, because I have the script, I have notes from the writers about what the actors should do. [SPEAKER_02]: After Quark and Rom disappear from Cisco's quarters, this is what the script says.

[SPEAKER_02]: Rom and Quark inch back into the conduit and close the screen panel behind them. [SPEAKER_02]: Cisco smiles to himself and returns to his work. [SPEAKER_02]: Now, that's very simple, but... [SPEAKER_02]: I noticed in the performance of it, Avery does not smile to himself, but it's actually just a tiny bit.

[SPEAKER_02]: He's not non-plused, but he's not. [SPEAKER_02]: Is it suspicious or no, it would have been nicer, I think, nice was the wrong word, but it would have been true or to the script anyway, if he had enjoyed that Pleasantry between the three of us, but he didn't, it just goes back to work. [SPEAKER_02]: It's not that he is disgruntled, it's not that at all.

[SPEAKER_02]: He plays a very good moment, but he doesn't play the moment that the writers asked for it in the script. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, interesting. [SPEAKER_01]: Interesting. [SPEAKER_01]: I thought it was a very cute moment. [SPEAKER_02]: I think it would have been nice a cute moment of the interruption of Cisco's duties.

[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_02]: But it would have I think it would have been it would have showed a little bit of warmth towards the quark from Cisco. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, I would have been nice. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, my first thought was boy, it's very easy for someone to try to do harm to Cisco to quite to get to him very easily.

[SPEAKER_01]: That's all I get think of like, look how easy it is to get into this office. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a crawfish. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, we find them finally popping out into the corridor, Rob suggests the Commando team, the bravest fighters, [SPEAKER_01]: just for Engie and Quarks says they're going to need incentive, some maybe some laden them, and they will split the 20 bars.

[SPEAKER_01]: That's where I'm like, wait, I thought you said 50, because they don't need to know that it's 50 bars. [SPEAKER_01]: So always, Quarks business sense is always working for him. [SPEAKER_01]: Very, very, very much. [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, once just for Engie. [SPEAKER_01]: I think off that first scene, he's like, Feringy's got no respect.

[SPEAKER_01]: They will, you know, we'll show them. [SPEAKER_01]: We'll prove to them that we can be heroes just like those starfleeters that interrupted my story. [SPEAKER_02]: So in a sense, Quark is trying to brush up not his reputation, but the Feringy reputation. [SPEAKER_00]: The overall repetition of all fringes everywhere.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, our next scene is on the promenade. [SPEAKER_00]: You know what I'd loved about this? [SPEAKER_00]: So the writer set it up here because this is obviously where we're so used to seeing Jake and Nag hang out at that upper level. [SPEAKER_00]: And here we are. [SPEAKER_00]: We have basically ROM and we have Kork trying to enlist Nag as the first member of this all-for-ringy rescue team.

[SPEAKER_00]: Nag is not really, no, well, that's face it. [SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't want to do it in the very beginning. [SPEAKER_00]: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no [SPEAKER_01]: The comedy is written beautifully, I think, the writers are really on point on this script.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's great super, super rough. [SPEAKER_02]: If whether or not members of it or not, that too is an illusion to the magnificent sep and really. [SPEAKER_02]: They're recruiting. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's right. [SPEAKER_02]: And I believe there is at least one person of the sep and this says no, I'm not going to do this.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, there you go. [SPEAKER_00]: Another parallel. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, it is core who is able to convince Nog to join by saying we're going to make you strategic operations officer, which then a gleam in Nog's eye comes up. [SPEAKER_00]: You mean like Commander Warf? [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.

[SPEAKER_00]: Like Commander Warf. [SPEAKER_00]: And that is what ultimately brings them into the team. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's the first time we see the numbers using the fingers of the third person, three-man team coming up with Nog throwing his throwing up the third, which is a nice little nod. [SPEAKER_01]: I was a little nervous about Aaron leaning on that rail for some reason.

[SPEAKER_01]: What? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: He was just leaning back. [SPEAKER_01]: I was like, he's going to fall over. [SPEAKER_02]: He's just been a lot of time up there. [SPEAKER_02]: He knows how strong it is. [SPEAKER_01]: I was just nervous. [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't like it. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, we give this.

[SPEAKER_01]: All right. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, we go to Quarks next. [SPEAKER_01]: Quark is dialing a subway's number on his monitor here. [SPEAKER_01]: He calls Leck. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: And Leck is sharpening a knife. [SPEAKER_01]: Which I found very creepy. [SPEAKER_01]: I know, and it's not in the script.

[SPEAKER_02]: It was really. [SPEAKER_02]: I have the script here. [SPEAKER_02]: I looked in the script. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, is that his idea? [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, was that? [SPEAKER_02]: I resolved. [SPEAKER_02]: It's a great idea. [SPEAKER_02]: It's a great idea. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a great idea. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, my gosh.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's an Orchip Tom. [SPEAKER_02]: Orchip. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, it's set the tone immediately. [SPEAKER_00]: You knew exactly the 100%. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, someone who means business for sure. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And but this is a secret call. [SPEAKER_00]: Even in the beginning, I mean, you're in your quarters.

[SPEAKER_00]: You're not in any public space. [SPEAKER_00]: And he, you know, you even say, I follow all your instructions to the letter. [SPEAKER_00]: Because obviously, like you must follow. [SPEAKER_00]: Do this, this, this, this in order to just call me on this subspace channel. [SPEAKER_00]: It's hard to get in a sass, and even in Frank and R. So cork is offering ladenum, and Lack literally says, I don't care about ladenum.

[SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't switch wrong as like you write. [SPEAKER_00]: His priorities are different. [SPEAKER_00]: He's going to the few Franky that doesn't care about ladenum, but he does care about a challenge. [SPEAKER_00]: And once cork tells him, it's the dominion that are holding mokey. [SPEAKER_00]: He's...

[SPEAKER_01]: All in. [SPEAKER_01]: Do you remember, um, armen and Garrett when we was shoot these scenes? [SPEAKER_01]: We never had the other actor there. [SPEAKER_01]: That's right. [SPEAKER_01]: That was always shot separately. [SPEAKER_01]: And so I thought you did a great job of reacting to his performance.

[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if you would seen it, or if he was there off camera for you. [SPEAKER_01]: But you don't even ride it. [SPEAKER_02]: But sometimes you guys must know this. [SPEAKER_02]: Sometimes they did have the video of what the other person done on the previous day, which we would see.

[SPEAKER_02]: It wasn't just a blank screen and so it's possible that I saw what Hamilton had done or it's just possible that I was imagining what he might do. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I thought it was a very good match, and it's not always a good match, but you guys did a great job. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think maybe once and seven years did I remember seeing someone bring in some of the footage we were.

[SPEAKER_00]: Typically, 99 times out of 100, that shot of the, you know, of lack was not even filmed yet. [SPEAKER_00]: So, when we're filming it, we're just using, you guys had Judy Brown, we had Cosmo Genevaise. [SPEAKER_00]: So, he would Cosmo would say the line and we'd just work off of it. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's very difficult, though, Robbie.

[SPEAKER_00]: Don't you agree? [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, as an actor not having any context whatsoever. [SPEAKER_02]: I will give you another possibility because I don't remember, it is possible that Hamilton and I rehearse this in my house. [SPEAKER_02]: Correct. [SPEAKER_02]: From one of your sessions, right?

[SPEAKER_02]: So, yes, I can, I don't remember, but I can't imagine I didn't ask for a full compliment of answers to my house for this particular episode. [SPEAKER_02]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_02]: And that's probably why that scene works so well. [SPEAKER_01]: But that's a great answer. [SPEAKER_01]: I think that makes a lot of sense because it was particularly and sink in a way that's not not always easy to do.

[SPEAKER_00]: He's actually so good job good on you from having those rehearsals. [SPEAKER_01]: We go to a star base somewhere when that looks like the trouble with trouble starts to me. [SPEAKER_01]: But it's a holding cell. [SPEAKER_01]: They go to visit Gaila in prison. [SPEAKER_01]: Gaila is blaming Quark for everything in his life going downhill since he went into the business with him.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's all Quark's fault. [SPEAKER_01]: He says, when I get out of here, if I ever get out of here, I will do away. [SPEAKER_01]: They didn't see. [SPEAKER_02]: for they yes, but they could say he's blaming you for every thing. [SPEAKER_02]: I know, but he says if I ever get out of here for they can they keep him for big things.

[SPEAKER_00]: Is that a life sentence armament, isn't it? [SPEAKER_00]: I think. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, clearly, it's a regular. [SPEAKER_01]: Because it's a court court pays is fine and gets him out. [SPEAKER_01]: So it's just a ticket. [SPEAKER_01]: It's like just a ticket, court paid it, now he's free, and he tells Gaila that you can pay me back by earning some ladenum and Gaila's in, he wants an opportunity for profit.

[SPEAKER_01]: Things have not gone his way lately, so I like the walkout in this scene very heroic. [SPEAKER_01]: Yo, chipped at a great job. [SPEAKER_01]: I can't say that enough. [SPEAKER_01]: He was great. [SPEAKER_01]: We go to Quarks where Nog is beginning some training. [SPEAKER_01]: He's given them all pads.

[SPEAKER_01]: He says they'll, you can see a schematic of the Dominion and Termin Center here. [SPEAKER_01]: Now you may examine your schematic. [SPEAKER_01]: It's very formal, Nog. [SPEAKER_01]: He's the boss of this training and nog insists on being called sir, which nobody wants to call him sir. [SPEAKER_01]: I like wrongs a little joke.

[SPEAKER_01]: We're a team sir This court court says we're a team nog. [SPEAKER_01]: We're a team sir [SPEAKER_00]: Very funny, but like was about to start something. [SPEAKER_00]: No, and you like got up. [SPEAKER_00]: It looks like they were about back on vacation. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, education is going to happen.

[SPEAKER_02]: It reaffirms again from the movie of these these six Frankie all had different points for you and you can see it in the way they sit in the schools You can see it in the way they relate to Nog I think [SPEAKER_02]: I think this has to be chip, chip made sure that each of those characters would just think they weren't just a group of Fraggy, they were individuals.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Agreed. [SPEAKER_01]: I thought he did a great job. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, Nog wants to quit. [SPEAKER_01]: It says he's going to quit. [SPEAKER_01]: Quirk stops him. [SPEAKER_01]: Again, you crowned this arm in a beautiful way. [SPEAKER_01]: You're like, this is not a game.

[SPEAKER_01]: The jokes are over. [SPEAKER_01]: The jokes about sir or whatever. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm telling you, Nog, this is serious. [SPEAKER_01]: Great job, Armon. [SPEAKER_01]: Again. [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_01]: moment to moment, uh, seeing by seeing really good work, uh, we discovered they need a ship.

[SPEAKER_01]: They don't have a ship. [SPEAKER_01]: That's when brunch arrives. [SPEAKER_01]: He says he's here to sign up, but court wants none of it. [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, he doesn't want any ex liquidators in this group. [SPEAKER_01]: In fact, nobody does. [SPEAKER_01]: Nobody on the team wants brunch.

[SPEAKER_01]: So he says, fine, I'll leave. [SPEAKER_01]: I'll take my ship with me. [SPEAKER_01]: and as he walks out, a knife hits the wall beside him, which is not easy to do this effect. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not sure how they did it, but it was great. [SPEAKER_01]: That was practical. [SPEAKER_01]: It looked practical to me, and it may have been a practical knife.

[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know how they did this one. [SPEAKER_01]: There's a number of ways you could have done it. [SPEAKER_01]: But he's very well done. [SPEAKER_00]: Can you do it this way, Robbie? [SPEAKER_00]: The knife is already placed stuck into the. [SPEAKER_00]: And then go yeah, and then someone pulls it out with fishing wire backwards.

[SPEAKER_00]: So it then you reverse. [SPEAKER_01]: We've kind of had it stuck in there and he couldn't walk up and gone, woe. [SPEAKER_01]: And then you get a clean plate without it there and they just give a little blur. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, you could just like that. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: It was, it was, it was very well done.

[SPEAKER_01]: It looked good to me. [SPEAKER_01]: The visual effects, whatever practical effects visual effects combo. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Well done. [SPEAKER_01]: Stop sprung in his tracks when it hits the wall. [SPEAKER_02]: And it makes lick a person to conjure with. [SPEAKER_02]: It makes him capable of being on this team and in fact, perhaps being as he's made out to be the most lethal person on the team and he's quite capable.

[SPEAKER_02]: He's not a fumbling for Rengie. [SPEAKER_00]: He's quite good at his job. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, also like gives the audience a feeling of, okay, this can happen. [SPEAKER_00]: There's somebody here who's literally capable of taking somebody out. [SPEAKER_00]: and without second guessing it or hesitating, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: But because Cork, anyone else, there's a little bit of hesitation. [SPEAKER_00]: Am I got to kill this person? [SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to kill anybody, kind of the thing. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, Lex reminds Bronti says, did you say shit? [SPEAKER_01]: And now they are six.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: We learn at the end of the scene, who says it? [SPEAKER_01]: From Bronti says, now we are six. [SPEAKER_01]: uh... we couldn't send some caves the classic uh... planet hell star trek caves moogie walks in with three jemma d'ar you know holding her guarding her i wrote down all the friend you're lying in weight they're all armed they're ready they're overwhelming force to these jemma d'ar and each of them do stupid [SPEAKER_01]: one of his hilarious chiming.

[SPEAKER_01]: They run into walls. [SPEAKER_01]: They throws her guns in the air and run off screaming. [SPEAKER_01]: It's a mess. [SPEAKER_01]: It's a comic masterpiece. [SPEAKER_01]: It was so funny. [SPEAKER_01]: Is that in the script, though? [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, all those people that are almost in the script, Keith Stone Coppish kind of thing happening.

[SPEAKER_02]: Each of the things that the Feringy fumble with is written down by a hyer of four [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: It's time to beautifully. [SPEAKER_01]: It's executed beautifully. [SPEAKER_01]: It's written and conceived beautifully. [SPEAKER_01]: It was very funny. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, with the end card being having one of the fringy shoot.

[SPEAKER_00]: Ishka by the stake, right? [SPEAKER_00]: Is it lack of shoots? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Black shoots. [SPEAKER_02]: No, I'm not going to rescue her, so we're not going to be able to do it. [SPEAKER_02]: All right. [SPEAKER_02]: You can do it on purpose. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.

[SPEAKER_01]: He said, I saw we weren't going to rescue her, so I put her out of her misery. [SPEAKER_00]: I forgot about that. [SPEAKER_00]: Sorry, that can't. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like who invited him along? [SPEAKER_01]: It's just like, it's the three stuages or the six stuages, very funny comedy with some real stakes.

[SPEAKER_01]: And Quark is rightfully frustrated and emotional at the end of the scene. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Tells everybody, get out of here. [SPEAKER_01]: You heard me go. [SPEAKER_01]: So again, these turns, these, these, these, each scene is filled with satisfying harmony and an authentic turn to something with sex and real, you know, emotion.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I, again, wanted to just applaud you, Armin, you did a great job. [SPEAKER_01]: Great scene. [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_01]: We'll go to Quarks. [SPEAKER_01]: Quark is very defeated in the scene, says he'll never, you know, we'll never even get near her much less rescuer with these.

[SPEAKER_01]: Stooges that I've got and he starts kind of remembering how he was just feeling on top of the world And all the squirrel trying to remind himself that he he has been a hero that he can be a hero And that's when Rome says wait a minute. [SPEAKER_01]: We're doing it wrong [SPEAKER_01]: We're negotiators, what you do with the squill is what we are, not trying to fight everybody.

[SPEAKER_01]: They realize they've got to make a trade. [SPEAKER_01]: But what do we have to trade? [SPEAKER_01]: Hmm. [SPEAKER_00]: I think that's seen ends on Corx, a close-up on Corx face contemplating and [SPEAKER_00]: coming up with the idea. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: What do we have to train?

[SPEAKER_01]: We cut to the captain's office. [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, this is Kira's residual scene. [SPEAKER_01]: This is her own reasoning for thanks the captain and Kira for convincing Starfleet who allow him to have Kiva. [SPEAKER_01]: We don't know that yet. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we don't. [SPEAKER_01]: The writer's [SPEAKER_01]: That's right.

[SPEAKER_01]: There's clever. [SPEAKER_00]: They're like so good at the reveal. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh my God. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: We're holding what the solution is, but you've found some solution and loved that. [SPEAKER_01]: And he wants to thank the captain and captain says, no, this was all Kira.

[SPEAKER_02]: And this is exactly what I was referring to before. [SPEAKER_02]: This is a throwback to I saved her life when the Dominion had her as a prisoner. [SPEAKER_02]: That's right. [SPEAKER_02]: And she finally, X amount of episodes later is finally getting around to thanking Quark for what he did for her.

[SPEAKER_02]: which I like the great deal. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's great tie-in and call back. [SPEAKER_00]: I would like to say this is my favorite scene of the entire city. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, because you see the shift in how Kira speaks to cork in this scene. [SPEAKER_00]: This is the nicest, the most, the least, that there's nothing going on of any type of animosity or judgment, or any type of animosity or judgment, [SPEAKER_00]: And he's worried about him because he's actually concerned about you.

[SPEAKER_00]: Her voice, and her tone of voice is lighter. [SPEAKER_00]: She's kind to you and thankful and grateful. [SPEAKER_00]: And it just warned my heart to finally see cork not be abused by the people around him. [SPEAKER_00]: And major care being the one that was the stalwart, the one that just kept giving attitude to cork for season one, two, three, four, five.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then finally, do you see this? [SPEAKER_00]: And just you just warned my heart to see it. [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you, Carol. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I agree with you. [SPEAKER_00]: I totally agree with you. [SPEAKER_02]: If this didn't make any sense to me, why would Starfleet give up a valuable prisoner to a civilian?

[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, even to rescue his mother, that sort of didn't really clock with me. [SPEAKER_00]: I think, okay, can I say something? [SPEAKER_00]: Sure, sure. [SPEAKER_00]: I felt like they had already squeezed out every bit of information. [SPEAKER_00]: They could get from Keeven or whatever they could get for him without torturing him, basically.

[SPEAKER_00]: And they thought, okay, well, we're going to hold him until the end of the conflict. [SPEAKER_00]: And if there's exchange of prisoners at the end of the war, he gets to go back. [SPEAKER_00]: But I just felt that, [SPEAKER_00]: that he was no longer valuable to them at all. [SPEAKER_00]: So that's good.

[SPEAKER_00]: That was my thought. [SPEAKER_00]: That's a good answer. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, great. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, we go on to brunch ship. [SPEAKER_01]: We see them all crowding into this tiny shot chip. [SPEAKER_02]: Chipped it a great job of getting us crowded into that little space. [SPEAKER_02]: And it is a little space.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, very tiny. [SPEAKER_02]: He likes it. [SPEAKER_01]: He calls it a closet. [SPEAKER_00]: It is a closet. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's a closet. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but it's a closet. [SPEAKER_01]: Very funny. [SPEAKER_01]: They crowd inside. [SPEAKER_01]: They discuss the plan. [SPEAKER_01]: They're going to meet at this deserted station.

[SPEAKER_01]: That quirk pick. [SPEAKER_01]: He picked this meeting spot so that they'll know the layout because it's a lot like DS9 quirk arrives with a prisoner and we realize here finally that it's Keeven. [SPEAKER_01]: That's the prisoner. [SPEAKER_01]: They're going to exchange. [SPEAKER_01]: But Keeven says if you try this, you're going to.

[SPEAKER_01]: Sign your death warrant and basically says now if you don't mind I'm going to take an app and he heads off Where in that tiny ship? [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know where he's going to take a nap But he exits and there's a great group turn to the camera almost like back to the front side all the forangi turn [SPEAKER_01]: They've signed their death warrant.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and again that ship. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's Jeff doing it all in this scene. [SPEAKER_00]: I when he said I'm going to take a nap all I could think was Robbie Robbie loves his naps and he loves it, but other than that I was I thought it was interesting that Lex said this is in a ship.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's a closet and I know the writers put that in there to [SPEAKER_00]: for the comedic relief, but I kept thinking let's be perfectly honest here. [SPEAKER_00]: That is a traditional for Renghiship. [SPEAKER_00]: He would know the dimensions of a for Renghiship. [SPEAKER_00]: It's not like that's a special ship.

[SPEAKER_00]: We've seen that type of ship before in many times. [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe it's a shuttle, maybe it's a for Renghisheto and they thought he had [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I just think what we've been exposed to. [SPEAKER_00]: It's been that same thin bull looking fringy ships since season one. [SPEAKER_00]: And if those R2D2 plant panels that they use, we've seen it over and over again.

[SPEAKER_01]: And multi-locital, I love the fringy ship. [SPEAKER_01]: They look great. [SPEAKER_01]: Talk about it in a minute and you see it in space. [SPEAKER_01]: I did want to say one more thing. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: When Quark brings Keeven in and says, everyone, this is Keeven. [SPEAKER_01]: We're going to trade him for Ishka.

[SPEAKER_01]: Hi, I'm Rom and this is Nog and that's Brunt and it doesn't care that part of the stuff. [SPEAKER_02]: That part of it is right out of an A&E meeting. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yes. [SPEAKER_01]: That was great. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh my goodness, very, very funny. [SPEAKER_01]: We kind of have to space where we see this ship take off, and I just want to actually see it arriving at this crooked DS9s.

[SPEAKER_01]: Basically a redo of the DS9 model just turns sideways to make it like. [SPEAKER_01]: um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um um, um um, um um, um um, um um, um um, um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um um [SPEAKER_00]: very pretty ships.

[SPEAKER_01]: Inside the promenade of Emparkinore, we see Nog come in first to clear the halls. [SPEAKER_01]: Very professional. [SPEAKER_01]: I like to there sort of move their tactical moves, flat tea moves here, yeah, seeing Nog is taking this very seriously with the Starfleet training, but they all enter the Nog wants to head straight the base camp.

[SPEAKER_01]: He says quirk corrects him, you mean the infirmary. [SPEAKER_01]: and nobody wants to go. [SPEAKER_01]: They don't seem very motivated until a court call for some slips of platinum and boom off they run. [SPEAKER_02]: They run. [SPEAKER_02]: It's like saying to a Starfleet mission, ladies and gentlemen, this is a suicide mission and everybody runs to do it.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly, exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: Starfleet's motivated by duty and honor and forengues are motivated by slip to the Latinum, right? [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: You don't want to would have been super cool as if they included the skeleton of one of the Kardashians or a couple of the Kardashians that we saw in the prior episode of Phil.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it would have been great. [SPEAKER_00]: They didn't take the bodies with them when they laughed, you know what I'm saying? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that would have been neat to see that Easter egg. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, we cut inside the infirmary on Emparknor, and Nog explains to everybody the infirmaries, the best strategic spot.

[SPEAKER_02]: And also says it's also close to the ship. [SPEAKER_01]: I know, I'm going to, I was going to break it. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, later. [SPEAKER_01]: How was I even, okay, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: How is that even? [SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I wish he hadn't said that part.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I wish he had just said that this is the best strategic spot. [SPEAKER_01]: And not that it's close to our conversation station. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because it's, it's nowhere close to that. [SPEAKER_00]: But again, no. [SPEAKER_01]: We do learn that gala is an upset stomach, because Rome says, well, some of the medical equipment is still functioning gala.

[SPEAKER_01]: Is anything for an upset stomach? [SPEAKER_01]: Um, when Nog suggests setting up the defense perimeter, of course, responses, well, how much is this going to cost me? [SPEAKER_01]: It's going to have to pay everybody to do the perimeter, but non-responses don't worry. [SPEAKER_01]: No charge.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And to which Quarks says, oh, Starfleet is really corrupt to you, has to do that. [SPEAKER_01]: I like that exchange. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: What else happens? [SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot of, a lot of great detail in here, you know, Rome, Rome setting up a transport jamming signal so they can't beam the prisoners away, which is very smart to actually very smart.

[SPEAKER_01]: We learned that Vorder is supposed to commit suicide when they're captured and he failed to follow that policy, so he's going to be in big trouble. [SPEAKER_01]: That's the first time we hear that I think. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, right? [SPEAKER_01]: We don't know if this is back until this episode.

[SPEAKER_01]: Let's want to know what the most vulnerable part of a Gemheadard's body is. [SPEAKER_01]: He is a horrible, sadistic man. [SPEAKER_02]: He is really like, I think, I don't know what I'm thinking, but I think Chris at that moment actually smiles. [SPEAKER_02]: He actually, some little smile there.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's just, it's a nanosecond, but I think he smiles about the telling [SPEAKER_01]: But Leck is going to go guard him and as they leave, Rome is very proud of his son, the soldier, to which Quarks says, they threw him into him. [SPEAKER_01]: It's just a great dialogue, great economy of dialogue for comic effect and also for stories.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's really well written this episode. [SPEAKER_02]: And I wonder, you have to remember that I'm taking it from my point of view, which is the Farranggy point of view. [SPEAKER_02]: I wonder if the writers didn't get out some of their frustrations with all this starfleet jargon that they usually have to pump into an episode in order to make it starfleet.

[SPEAKER_02]: If there's punching holes in that requirement from them by having me say, it's not star basis. [SPEAKER_02]: It's not a base camp, it's not a base camp, it's a firmory. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm wondering, [SPEAKER_02]: How they felt about that? [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know pro or cod, but I certainly thought I'm taking the make he get out of Starfleet.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I'm sure they enjoyed not having to come up with so much of that jargon and so much of, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: We have a bit of a time cut, we're still as infirmary. [SPEAKER_00]: We hear this blood-curdling scream. [SPEAKER_00]: Everyone wakes up and they realize it's Gala who's supposed to be guarding.

[SPEAKER_00]: Even, they run over to the store room door. [SPEAKER_00]: And guess what? [SPEAKER_00]: Keepins gone. [SPEAKER_00]: And Gala fell asleep. [SPEAKER_00]: He was sleeping. [SPEAKER_00]: And Roms, like, how could you sleep? [SPEAKER_00]: He's a while I couldn't help, but I was so tired. [SPEAKER_00]: I couldn't get any sleep on the ship.

[SPEAKER_00]: And now they realize that that is probably where keeping this, heading to the ship. [SPEAKER_00]: And if he gets away, everything is over. [SPEAKER_00]: They're done. [SPEAKER_00]: They're done for. [SPEAKER_01]: Armin, can I ask you a question? [SPEAKER_01]: Sure. [SPEAKER_01]: Is that how Ferengi always sleep with covers over their head?

[SPEAKER_01]: All of you were curled up in the floor with covers over your head. [SPEAKER_02]: There you go. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's got to be that's got to be ship because that's close to what says in the script, but it's not. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, okay, here it is. [SPEAKER_02]: This is what the script says.

[SPEAKER_02]: We pan across the sleeping team of Furengi. [SPEAKER_02]: They're huddled together like a bunch of sleeping hedgehogs. [SPEAKER_02]: So there's nothing about sheets being over for Engie's heads. [SPEAKER_02]: It's simply fulfilling the writers' desire for it to look like a group of hedgehogs.

[SPEAKER_01]: Well, you were all in a circle clustered together with your covers over your heads and the scream, everybody pops up, it was great. [SPEAKER_02]: And I think she realized the comedic value of everybody throwing the sheets aside. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, I think that's him being very creative.

[SPEAKER_00]: After they realized that it is Cuban who has gone and possibly headed towards a ship more probably going to the ship, everyone starts running. [SPEAKER_00]: The running starts to happen and the running is all over the place. [SPEAKER_00]: Very Benny Hill-esque or Houston cops-esque. [SPEAKER_00]: They're knocking things over.

[SPEAKER_00]: They're running this way that way. [SPEAKER_00]: There's one point where they cut over to the right. [SPEAKER_00]: Do you see that shot where I think it's someone is left behind and runs at the left. [SPEAKER_00]: after everyone else. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know who that was, but I thought that was quite hilarious.

[SPEAKER_00]: Very funny. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, they do finally make it back to the ship and guess what, Keeven does not know how to operate this ship very well. [SPEAKER_00]: He's still sitting there, court catches him, going someplace. [SPEAKER_00]: Apparently not, Keeven says, can't even get those impulse engines online.

[SPEAKER_00]: So they're... [SPEAKER_00]: They've stopped the, uh, the, you know, gave them a bomb. [SPEAKER_01]: Took them offline, uh, disengage the engine. [SPEAKER_01]: So, um, just in case. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Just one. [SPEAKER_02]: And I give myself credit here in the sense that I am panting out of breath.

[SPEAKER_02]: understand that the running and that scene of or probably separated by God knows how much time. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes. [SPEAKER_02]: And I'm smart enough to to pan through that scene in order to make the continuity work. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, at the level of the running, because it was a lot of running.

[SPEAKER_02]: So, and that, I said at the top of our show that there was a lot of laughter watching those guys run. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: I was off camera. [SPEAKER_02]: It was hilarious. [SPEAKER_02]: It was hilarious for me to do a lot of takes. [SPEAKER_02]: A lot of takes of the running that don't make it into the final episode.

[SPEAKER_02]: It was hilarious to watch them run. [SPEAKER_02]: Because they brought them up with different ways to run. [SPEAKER_02]: Bits. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh my gosh. [SPEAKER_02]: I was giddy with laughter, and of course you can't laugh while they're shooting because of the moment that the camera was off.

[SPEAKER_01]: Well, you not only have them running to try to stop him from leaving, but now there's an alarm and, you know, [SPEAKER_01]: God-keven, and then all of a sudden, the alarm goes off. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, the German art here, the dominions here. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you have to do a reverse chase back to where you were.

[SPEAKER_01]: So when you were filming, you probably ran one way. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: And then you turned around around the other way. [SPEAKER_02]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_02]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_02]: And again, the statement that Infirmary is very close to the ship. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, it doesn't look like it's posted.

[SPEAKER_01]: But it was worth it. [SPEAKER_01]: It was worth the call. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And it was very funny. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if Chip did this intentionally, or maybe said dressing just didn't have continuity down. [SPEAKER_00]: But on the way back, that big barrel that gets knocked down by one of the Frankie is sitting straight up.

[SPEAKER_00]: So it's sort of like, wait a minute. [SPEAKER_02]: Someone reset this and they forgot that this should have been down. [SPEAKER_02]: I think Robbie's right that we were shooting both sequences at the same time. [SPEAKER_02]: And so we weren't, we weren't worried about kind of a, [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly, exactly.

[SPEAKER_01]: They run back to the infirmary. [SPEAKER_01]: Nog shuts the door. [SPEAKER_01]: They go to hide in the infirmary. [SPEAKER_01]: They're all, you know, clustered in a corner. [SPEAKER_01]: And the alarm is gone off. [SPEAKER_01]: And they don't know who's out there. [SPEAKER_01]: Nog volunteers to go look.

[SPEAKER_01]: So we see him quietly, carefully, make his way with a weapon over to a door. [SPEAKER_01]: Pulls the door open, peeks out. [SPEAKER_01]: And there's a ton of Gemma-Dar. [SPEAKER_00]: on the upper balcony. [SPEAKER_00]: Upper balcony. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, a ton of them, and they all draw their weapons.

[SPEAKER_01]: Someone says, far in line, take aim. [SPEAKER_01]: And not place that ferry well. [SPEAKER_02]: He plays the seriousness of the moment very well. [SPEAKER_00]: He got that. [SPEAKER_00]: That's that's arguably the tightest close-up that he's had in this entire series. [SPEAKER_00]: When he prize open the door right there, it's just, it's on his eyes practically.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's it. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Really good. [SPEAKER_01]: Good directing because again, Chip is telling the story that he's being very secret that no one can see him. [SPEAKER_01]: And so that tight size feels like a very private moment, yet they might not see. [SPEAKER_01]: I thought it was smartly lens and framed.

[SPEAKER_01]: It was great. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, agreed. [SPEAKER_01]: We go back to the surgery bay in the infirmary. [SPEAKER_01]: They're all hiding trying to figure out a plan. [SPEAKER_01]: Things don't look good. [SPEAKER_01]: Quark stands up. [SPEAKER_01]: He says he's going out there. [SPEAKER_01]: And then he tells Rom and nod to to come to.

[SPEAKER_01]: At the end of the scene, because the algorithm is calling from off camera. [SPEAKER_01]: He's saying, Franky show yourself. [SPEAKER_01]: Nobody wants to go out there. [SPEAKER_01]: Quarks finally says, I'm coming, but you two are coming with me. [SPEAKER_01]: Ross says, I'm afraid he was going to say that.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: They head into the promenade, which is this is that magnificent seven cowboy moment. [SPEAKER_01]: The great western standoff at the top of the scene is they step out into the promenade, standing off to each other and then they make their [SPEAKER_01]: Quark makes some demands.

[SPEAKER_01]: He says, no, Gemma Darr, if we make this trade, I want them all off the ship, at that the Helmsman has to go back to Dominant territory. [SPEAKER_01]: And after some back and forth, the algorithm finally agrees. [SPEAKER_01]: But once they have a deal, Nog's not done. [SPEAKER_01]: He says, I want proof that Moogie is not a changeling.

[SPEAKER_01]: And he goes over with the knife, cuts her hand. [SPEAKER_01]: She's very upset about that. [SPEAKER_01]: So she pulls on his lobe, hits him on top of head. [SPEAKER_01]: It's very funny. [SPEAKER_02]: It is funny. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay. [SPEAKER_02]: I love Sessley. [SPEAKER_02]: We've a close friend's long before you start doing this show, but I don't think Sessley Sessley saw this was a comic episode.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and never who once showed the peril that she was in in this episode. [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, never once thought that she wasn't going to just walk off the station at the end of the episode. [SPEAKER_02]: And I wish that she had, yes, that's all scripted, yes, she had to do it that way. [SPEAKER_02]: But there is no place anywhere in the episode where she seems a little bit afraid of what would happen if they don't rescue her.

[SPEAKER_01]: Well, you mentioned something earlier that Iggy Pop was nervous, and I wonder if consciously or unconsciously her feeling like she had to keep things light for him, so he wouldn't be nervous if that sort of affected her choices and morbidity. [SPEAKER_02]: But essentially, it's a wonderfully comic actor, and sometimes comic actors, when they realize that they're doing a comic episode or a comic scene, they play into it because that's their natural affinity.

[SPEAKER_02]: And I wish Chip had said to her, at this moment, let's see the trepidation of whether or not this is going to work. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, when she gets cut, I understand her reaction, absolutely. [SPEAKER_02]: But pulling him by the ears, I don't think that's in the script, actually. [SPEAKER_02]: I think she could have done it a little bit more instinctive more, and just done that, as opposed to saying, this is a comic, the big watch, we do this comic, man.

[SPEAKER_02]: Hmm interesting and when she hits him, I'm not even sure I think she misses him by a mile I look at that shot and well, but she anywhere close to his face when she hits him You mean on top of the head that hit yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I thought she was a box But look at that it's this yeah, which is is opposed to this right a quick right hit yeah Can you see in the script what what was the the direction was?

[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just curious what it was written as okay [SPEAKER_02]: Custer on the palm, house, Azizuka, quark, rum and knob. [SPEAKER_02]: Look at the blood, it's real blood. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, there it is, I'm just so sorry. [SPEAKER_02]: Really, Azizuka reaches out with her good hand and grabs Nog's ear, then banks him over the head with her fist.

[SPEAKER_02]: singular singular fist okay, so she added a double bang bang which yeah, which is more comic right and the pulling of the air which I just criticized there it is in black and yellow, but I like um quarks something it up try to explain it to [SPEAKER_01]: family, the yellow grinning family, to understand.

[SPEAKER_01]: And then the yellow grins response, not really. [SPEAKER_01]: I was close. [SPEAKER_01]: Perfect. [SPEAKER_01]: That's one of the best lines in the episode. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes. [SPEAKER_02]: And in the top of it, it do in the morning. [SPEAKER_02]: Extremely well. [SPEAKER_02]: He does. [SPEAKER_02]: He does.

[SPEAKER_02]: Does it very well? [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: All right, we go back to the infirmary, back to surgery and they're celebrating. [SPEAKER_01]: They're so happy and excited that it looks like this is going to work out there. [SPEAKER_01]: They're longing for Farrington R. They start talking about that.

[SPEAKER_01]: Everybody's in a great mood. [SPEAKER_01]: They love each other. [SPEAKER_01]: It's a love fast right now. [SPEAKER_01]: until thromb spills that is 50 bars of ladenham that are going to split and everybody is waiting at what and they realize that Quark was trying to, you know, con with a fast one and they start bickering and that's when Gala ends up shooting Keeven with one of the weapons, yeah, which then results in Keeven's best line.

[SPEAKER_02]: I hate fringy, yes, any fun, so far. [SPEAKER_02]: Now, this is typical of Irish writing, and not just Irish, but of the writing staff. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes. [SPEAKER_02]: Is that we think the episode is going in a certain direction. [SPEAKER_02]: We've seen this in lots of our episodes. [SPEAKER_02]: It's going.

[SPEAKER_02]: And then all of a sudden at the beginning of the fifth authority, end of the fourth act, all of a sudden, the door that [SPEAKER_02]: they're hoping to get through is closed completely and they have to take another direction. [SPEAKER_02]: It is in my way of thinking, excellent writing, excellent writing because they are audiences anticipating something and then all of a sudden all the possibilities disappear.

[SPEAKER_02]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: All the possibilities disappear because they need to keep in a lie if they're going to make this trade. [SPEAKER_01]: So we cut to a little later. [SPEAKER_01]: Keeping his dead. [SPEAKER_01]: He's got some blinkies on him, but he's dead. [SPEAKER_01]: Quark reminds them of the Battle of Pryxnack, trying to inspire them and they get inspired.

[SPEAKER_01]: They decide to try and get Moogie anyway and they're getting an amping themselves up. [SPEAKER_01]: For Profit, let's do this, for Profit, Quark even agrees to split all 50 bars. [SPEAKER_01]: He's all in, Nog comes in and says, you know, I really tried to revive him, but he's dead. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's when he goes to...

[SPEAKER_01]: Pull a neural stimulator off of Keeven when Keeven's arm flasked cross and slaps nog. [SPEAKER_01]: I think Quark is it? [SPEAKER_01]: Says he thinks he's alive? [SPEAKER_01]: Gaila? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Or Gaila, sorry. [SPEAKER_01]: Gaila thinks he's alive. [SPEAKER_01]: nog says, no, he's not alive.

[SPEAKER_01]: It was just a neural stimulator causing a reflex and pulse and the cerebellum roms and pressed. [SPEAKER_01]: And he says, oh, you studied medicine at the academy. [SPEAKER_01]: And nog says, no. [SPEAKER_01]: No medicine isn't that different than engineering, it's all about keeping things running, fixing broken parts, and quirk, and everyone stops.

[SPEAKER_01]: Wait a minute, are you thinking what I'm thinking? [SPEAKER_01]: Find me some neural simulators as dogs, so they've got a solution here. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they're going to try and... [SPEAKER_01]: stall a little bit, get some neural stimulators all over the sky's bodies, so they can move around like a blanket sign.

[SPEAKER_01]: And we go into the promenade quirk says, you know, Rome's got to scan to ensure the gemidar are gone. [SPEAKER_01]: So I need a few minutes. [SPEAKER_01]: Yelgren is very impatient, but he finally agrees. [SPEAKER_01]: You got five minutes. [SPEAKER_01]: Quirk says, you know, one more thing, I want to trade right outside of my ship.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, whatever, and he doesn't care at this point. [SPEAKER_01]: So they bought five minutes. [SPEAKER_01]: They go back inside, test the simulators. [SPEAKER_01]: He pops up, keep him pops up, like a Frankenstein monster. [SPEAKER_01]: Back in the corridor, one of my favorite moments, Yelgren and Mugier discussing diversified investments.

[SPEAKER_01]: And skin cream. [SPEAKER_01]: Love this dialogue. [SPEAKER_02]: It's wonderful. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's because she is a very good financial advisor. [SPEAKER_01]: I would hire her. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: I would put my money in each investment. [SPEAKER_00]: Whatever, there's good investments.

[SPEAKER_00]: What do we report for? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: And that is the scene where I am positive. [SPEAKER_02]: There was conversation like this backstage where Cecilia was keeping Iggy Pop comfortable for two hours while he waited for the shot. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm like sure. [SPEAKER_02]: the tone of voice just smacks of that to me.

[SPEAKER_02]: I might totally wrong. [SPEAKER_02]: But when I listen to that scene, I went, that's the voice that she probably used when she was coming him down. [SPEAKER_02]: Her coming voice, yeah, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: It was great. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, they're discussing diversified investments in [SPEAKER_01]: They break them out and he looks weird.

[SPEAKER_01]: They decide to release the prisoners together on three, one, two, three. [SPEAKER_01]: Keepin' starts walking, like Frankenstein knocks around the corner with his tricorters, panel, you know, pushing the buttons, keepin' walks. [SPEAKER_01]: I think Yelgren even says, what have they done to you?

[SPEAKER_00]: That's exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: You've got to give it up for Christopher Shady though. [SPEAKER_00]: Come on. [SPEAKER_00]: That physicality of the way he walked wrong. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: He walks passes, uh, successfully there in the hallway. [SPEAKER_01]: Almost runs into her bumps into the wall.

[SPEAKER_01]: Quark ducks for a second and suddenly the, the, the, Farringi heroes pop out. [SPEAKER_01]: They take out the two Gemma Dar. [SPEAKER_01]: They surprise them. [SPEAKER_01]: Um, they take Yelburn as a new prisoner. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: Roman cork are heroes and I think at the end of the scene, Rome says, so brother, how does it feel to be a hero?

[SPEAKER_01]: Corx says, you tell me, Rome says, it feels good. [SPEAKER_01]: Corx says, yep, you bet it does. [SPEAKER_01]: And they head into the air lock with keyvins still bumping into the wall. [SPEAKER_01]: Very hot on the end of the episode. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, my gosh. [SPEAKER_02]: And that last exchange?

[SPEAKER_02]: was my rock of Gibraltar. [SPEAKER_02]: That's how I approached the whole episodes. [SPEAKER_02]: When you've been complimenting me, I'm bringing dramatic gravitas to this to the episode. [SPEAKER_02]: That's what I basted on. [SPEAKER_02]: I basted on the fact quark wants to be a hero.

[SPEAKER_02]: Arm and one's quark to be a hero. [SPEAKER_02]: And I am going to do what I can to get these other people to be as heroic as they can be. [SPEAKER_02]: So we can prove to me and the viewers that the fringy are not always bumbling idiots. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, mission accomplished. [SPEAKER_00]: This is accomplished.

[SPEAKER_00]: Amen. [SPEAKER_00]: Mission accomplished. [SPEAKER_00]: One final bit of trivia. [SPEAKER_00]: This is the only episode in which Ron kills someone. [SPEAKER_00]: John are the only one. [SPEAKER_00]: Is it wrong that kills one of the jambodars? [SPEAKER_01]: Really? [SPEAKER_02]: That's what I mean, that's what the trivia.

[SPEAKER_02]: I should have gone back. [SPEAKER_02]: I wanted to do then. [SPEAKER_02]: I didn't. [SPEAKER_02]: I wanted to see who killed the jambodars. [SPEAKER_02]: So, and that's what I'm asking now, you sure. [SPEAKER_02]: I'll go back and take another look, but I'm not sure. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, well, it would be probably your script say that wrong shoots one of the jambodars.

[SPEAKER_02]: No, it just says the foreign you take out the two jambodars. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, the frame, he are heroes and there we have it. [SPEAKER_01]: One of my favorite episodes. [SPEAKER_01]: You love this episode. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay. [SPEAKER_02]: So this is also a fan favorite as well.

[SPEAKER_02]: At least in my table anyway. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes. [SPEAKER_02]: So very proud of this episode. [SPEAKER_02]: Very funny, very, very funny. [SPEAKER_02]: But as I said, we got a chance to say the fringy, if they put their minds to it, can become heroic. [SPEAKER_02]: And I think that's the theme we're going to talk about themes later, but that's the theme of this episode.

[SPEAKER_02]: What's it feel like to be a hero? [SPEAKER_02]: And that's just opposed with Odo saying to Quark at the top of the show. [SPEAKER_02]: You're not a hero. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, well, I was going to ask you, what is your theme slash lesson slash moral? [SPEAKER_00]: You just told us, so how about Robbie, what is your theme or moral or lesson at this episode?

[SPEAKER_01]: I wrote down, everyone can be a hero if you truly believe in yourself. [SPEAKER_01]: That's the lesson I got. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_00]: Mine is not really hero warrior oriented. [SPEAKER_00]: I kind of sort of, yeah, I kind of veered off to the, it's more about the very, very beginning where it was, you know, not relayed to the rest of the fringy that it was 50 bars a lot.

[SPEAKER_00]: And so I said, honestly, is the best policy because if that was a policy, even never would have been shot in the first place. [SPEAKER_00]: That's all. [SPEAKER_00]: Just towards that one moment, that's it. [SPEAKER_01]: Interesting. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: That's what I can write.

[SPEAKER_01]: Well, our Patreon poll winner for theme and moral of this episode is submitted by Lauren and that is, play to your strength. [SPEAKER_00]: I like that. [SPEAKER_01]: I like that. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: The association is opposed to being commando destruction team. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes.

[SPEAKER_00]: The honorable mention for theme slash moral slash lesson of this episode as submitted by Jenny would be, your responsibilities don't want you to die. [SPEAKER_00]: Is that one of his lines? [SPEAKER_00]: Your responsibilities don't want you to die. [SPEAKER_00]: Or is that written? [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if that's explicitly written, but... Oh, okay.
